Just got a flash back of all the posts just after we missed out on Konaplyanka when the jan transfer window shut. So many negative comments about not strengthening our squad yet we've gone on to win every league games since. Come on the pool

I don't need to remind you guys but West Ham will be tougher than Spurs. As they're my local team however, I want Liverpool to ensure that they don't completely destroy them but a 1-0 win is o.k. That being said, their full-backs are slow so Raheem and co. should exploit this weakness.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hey zaki, haven't watched them in a while, any other scouting info? Mainly, I am interested in the Nolan-Carol partnership, since all the games I watched while Andy was injured; also, do they have any speed merchants since Ravel left? What I mean is that we could afford to play a very high defensive line against them if Carol and Downing are their fastest assets!

Agree0 Disagree0

I've watched there last 3 games and imo there awful, we should win by 2 or 3. However I'm nervous of the ex player syndrome, we seem to always make our ex players look like Ronaldo.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2014 09:25:31
The only way they play is long balls, deal with it and we would be safe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry zaki it is 0-5 put your money on it

Just seen Nolan coming off vs sunderland, anyone out against us, he'd be the one if pick, I think we would struggle to pick up his movement, seems to be one of our defensive weaknesses!

Sorry Eds ....

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - What a nasty piece of crap you are. We need to scrape things like you off out collective boot.}

When I see posts such as this one I am always curious as to what has been said. Much be pretty severe to get reaction from Ed02. He/she has likely done you a massive favour by removing it PassTOtonka

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Like many clubs, Liverpool has some great supporters but the occasional shaven-headed, lager-swilling, pot-bellied, tattooed, knuckle-dragging oaf slips through (with apologies to the shaven-headed, lager-swilling, pot-bellied, tattooed, knuckle-dragging oafs who behave themselves here).}

Thanks for the apology on behalf of other pot-bellied fans

Good job I don't drink lager else that would be offensive ed!

West ham away- although agger been playin well last couple of games does anyone think we should put sakho in with skirtel for this game, help out with there ariel threat and physical game?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Kirikou would love the chance to get at Andy Carroll's hair and really sort it out.}

Definitely agree we need Sakho here to deal with Carrol. Agger always struggles against power players like Benteke & Lukaku

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2014 10:17:11
Andy caroll yesterday had only one involvemnt in the whole 90 mts, and he scored from a corner.

Agree0 Disagree0

We certainly do not need Sakho back to deal with Caroll. We should focus on ourselves and not worry about Andy Caroll. I cannot imagine BR changing the backline to specifically deal with one individual player, who in all honesty, isn't very good anyway.

He can chest the ball down on the halfway line all day if he likes. We will prepare to deal with the direct approach of West Ham, and collectively as a team we will aim to nullify any threats they have.

They will have far more to worry about from us, I can assure you of that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Difficult to change a winning team.
. and didn't Agger just have his best game in a long time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Carroll causes problems to anyone end of, even if its just getting in the way! Skrtel may be a bigger risk with the shirt pulling than agger, as if he feels threatened he may end up giving a way a penalty

Watching West Ham tonight to see what the next game holds in store for us. so dar they look quite resolute at the back and I think we will have to be at our most penetrative to get the goals on Sunday
And Big Sam does like to park the bus

Good evening all,
First time poster.
Just a couple of thoughts. I am in the fortunate position of having my name read out on the commentary during televised/radio games. My name is Alan Henderson.
During a match if ALLEN passes to HENDERSON I have the unique moment when I hear. ALLEN, .HENDERSON, . Forward to Suarez. I cannot tell you how chuffed it makes me feel. Been a Liverpool fan for 40+ years.
Anyone else out there have anything similar?
Second thought.
I'm really impressed with Sturridge. Not just his goal scoring ability, but how he can drop into midfield and secure the ball, before laying off and finding space in the box for a shot on goal. You see too many strikers happy to stay in the final third, either not strong enough or to idle.
His work rate and possession are a joy to watch.
Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My name is Zamora Side-Netting

Agree0 Disagree0

My family are originally from Belgium and I'm called Bloek de Schott. I have a first cousin called Mark de Man and his mate is called Skor de Gaulle.

So, will Downing and Carroll of West Ham and Mr Torres put a spanner in the works!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It took Downing two days to drive down from Liverpool to London because his porsch was stuck behind a merseyside bin lorry and he did not have the nerves to overtake it. It was a bit like when he was playing on the wing for Liverpool and could never run passed a defender. And Poor Torres, the only thing he spanners these days are his shots on goal, could'nt even get into west ham. Andy Carroll has just scored his second goal of the season, that's a return of 9 million quid per goal for the hammers - they got a right hammering on that deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

On the flip side of the, I'm kind of hoping Borini sticks a few in against City and Chelsea

Agree0 Disagree0

Like what you did there Doughnuts! I'll take the positivity. Come on Borini!

Agree0 Disagree0

Think he costs us just under 6 million a goal mind you though ;) and we can't change that, I'm sure he will get a handful more for west ham

Ed fellow reds, moving away from how good we are, for a second .read a lot of people mentioning big name players, but if you take a step back we don't need the big big names .we have a great team just need a little more quality to the squad . I think another good keeper to put pressure on mingleot, centre half / lb, cover . attacking midfielder and another attack minded player (lw, Rw or no10 roll ) just to cope with CHAMPIONS LEAGUE .YES that's RIGHT BACK WHERE WE BELONG .cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I rather think we just need 3 players. LB, CM, LM.

Agree0 Disagree0

The real AG . I did mean it as 3 out field players but versitile ones play in either position .but another keeper just so mingleot doesn't get complacent .

Unbelievable win yesterday, guess I was wrong when I said it would be close! Great to see Coutinho and Hendo on the scoresheet, and Flanagan and Sterling playing out of their skin! We seem to have found the winning formula, and even though we have leaked the odd goal every now and again, I think Skrtel and Agger is the way forward for now anyway. West Ham away next, always one of the toughest places to go in the league. Hopefully we can scrape a victory, far from certain though. Anfield was absolutely rocking yesterday! Felt like the big European nights had returned, which they hopefully will!

Be honest lads, who would have taken 4th place at the start of the season? I guarantee 99% of people would have, myself included. So whether we do it or not, let's just enjoy the ride!
Cheers,
ROI.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cl spot and the rest is a bonus and if we can go all the way I will cry like grown men do.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol ROI,

I do think Ken's pants are becoming a national treasure, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry ROI,

I replied on the wrong post

Agree0 Disagree0

I would happily have taken 4th at the beginning of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Happily.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed, I was hoping for 4th and within touching distance of 3rd. What we are being treated to is exceptional!

Agree0 Disagree0

OBE,
After the match yday I said to my wife, if we do go all the way I think I would cry. She looked at me like I was an alien and said is it really that important? I said no, it's more than that. I proceeded to tell her about our history and the significance of the 96 anniversary and just how long we've all been patiently waiting! By the end she was almost in tears herself!
How glorious it would be!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Those of us who have already been all of the way with your wife know that she never cries. Screams a bit, but never cries.}

Its like one big swingers party ed. You being the biggest of course. How many wives habe you got thru?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Three or two depending how you look at it.}

Haha ed I think you're mistaking my wife for a woman who would even look the way of a chelski plastic let alone let one touch her, she has far more self respect than that! ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol Locksmith,

I think Ken's pants are becoming a national treasure mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

They'll be in the Anfield museum if it carries on! Haha

Agree0 Disagree0

do you rate Borini? And could he do a job for us if he stays?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If it's the same job as aspas then yes haha

hha.
Dezyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
beautyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Agree0 Disagree0

Aspas would play more if we had more games. I wouldn't knock on him. He's a pretty classy player IMO. He's got ability and he works hard.

Agree0 Disagree0

Borini will offer more than aspas, younger and stronger on the ball, and has proven he can finish!

Caulker, Shaw, Lallana. Any chance eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Caulker? You didn't see our recent match at Cardiff, then?

Agree0 Disagree0

Caulker is a good player, but OGS seem to have this ability to make half decent players go backwards in their development.

Agree0 Disagree0

Caulker is nowhere near the required standard for our team.

If Ed001 is around, would you mind giving us your usual in depth analysis of the game yesterday please? I love reading them!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Ed001 is not around for a while.}

Is he in Walton?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2014 13:05:13
I want to ask ed001, and anyone else that's played football to a reasonable standard - Ozone I think has - what you made of Michael Owen's comment that Liverpool's forwards are playing in a way outside of what the coaching manuals dictate?
I thought it was very interesting and, if its true, it must be a nightmare for opposition managers to analyse and counter?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Ed001 is not around for a while.}

The movement on our side is very fluid. Everyone is constantly shifting location and the shape of it almost seems like managed chaos yet somehow the players don't seem to have an issue much in the way of clumping together.

As a defender (although not a good one nor anywhere near high level) I would agree it has to be a nightmare to deal with. Added to which when you do manage to get the ball, the next thing you know you have Suarez/Henderson/Allen/Coutinho/Sterling all jumping down your throat. I would absolutely hate playing them (Henderson in particular has to be a massive nuisance).

Agree0 Disagree0

I play semi pro level for my local team and I used to play at a pro level in the UAE. I can safely say what he said was pretty accurate in the sense that these two are allowed the freedom to interchange and individually play for each other if that makes sense. It's all about chemistry and these two have that naturally because they are both amazing players. If you look at ronaldo, or any of the elite players during footballs history, there was no coaching manuals for them. They were born to play football, and that goes for both defending and attacking.

Agree0 Disagree0

Two very strong individuals who combine ONLY when required.

Agree0 Disagree0

Each player has his own merits. Suarez drives straight forward at defenders rather than try to use a step over to beat them. This flat foots them, and gives him his space. He play the percentages well and almost hits the ball at them when running, knowing it may hit them, but it'll pop off to the side, with the momentum carrying the ball past them.Jamie Redknapp has done some decent analysis on this worthy of taking a look at.
Sturridge has the pace and explosive power to lose a playerover simply 3 yards to generate space, wich makes him difficult to play against hence his goal against sunderland, you know he's going to go left, he gives a feint to the right just enough to make you move and inch, and his power to push himself off his right foot gives him and acre.Having 2 selfish forwards brimming with confidence also means they're not afraid to just shoot either and play for rebounds etc

Hi ed ...

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Write to the Marketing Department at the club.}

31 Mar 2014 16:31:23
Hi eds and reds, I no a few mid table prem clubs and others across Europe looked at finnbogasson previously and his name is mentioned on here in 2013 but not since, would he be someone the club would look to as a back up striker. At 25 and 6'3 he is off the age and stature I think we could do with. His secondary position is also left wing so that's a bonus.

Maybe people will no better than me how he would fair as I've not seen him play other than on links so thoughts appreciated as I think we will definitely look at a back up striker who can operate on left wing or vice versa although boring may be that player I still think the club will add another attacking player
Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There has been no interest from Liverpool.}

31 Mar 2014 14:20:25
Hi Eds, was reading lots of negative stuff a few weeks back about Glen Johnson - not playing well enough, unhappy about contract situation etc - but in the last few games I think he's been excellent. So just wondering if he will be with us next season and will Andre Wisdom be returning? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know of plans to sell Johnson nor what will happen with Wisdom.}

He was decent against spurs but appalling against Sunderland. I still think we can improve on that position

Hi Eds and fellow reds,
Great weekend for me, I've been a Liverpool supporter for over 30 years, but live in Swansea.
Chelski-nil points
Man C- 1 point
Arsenal-1 point
Spuds -nil points
Liverpool-All 3 points (LET'S START TO DREAM)
Swansea-3 points ( should be enough to keep us up)
Cardiff-1 point ( certs for the drop)
doesn't get much better than that

Thanks!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Ed001 isn't available mate, sorry. He left the country yesterday to move to Dubai and I don't know when he will be back online. All the posts for him are sitting waiting and either him or Ed002 will answer them asap.}

Why does Mourinho keep saying they have to play us in between PSG? If am not mistaken they play PSG on the 2nd and 8th of April and us on the 27th?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's losing the plot

telling a ball boy that one of his players will punch him is another sure sign of that.

Everyone is talking about taking one game at the time, but I don't have a problem with that at all. West Ham is just one of those games that I love and hate at the same time.

First of all it is a clash of styles. Our passing and moving against their direct physical style. I hate it when our technical tricky forwards get tackled time and time again, and the referee only gives out warnings. On the other side I love the fact that there is so many different ways to play football. It's a clash of managers and it's a test of how far Rodgers have come. Has he figured out how to beat sides like West Ham and Stoke away? Also we have former Liverpool-players that want to show that selling them was a mistake.

Away against West Ham is for me a lot harder than beating Tottenham home. So thinking about how to beat Chelsea and City is not on my mind, there is to many questions to be answered if we actually can beat a side like West Ham.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Big Sam out-foxed Jose Mourinho when them 2 sides met. It'll be a frustrating game and one for patience. I expect them to defend for their lives.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lallana and Shaw would be fantastic additions that would actually make us better! From a puritan football fan's point of view it's sad to see Southampton lose their assets because of lack of funds. but that's football I guess!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2014 13:01:21
With the news that Southampton are in a very delicate financial situation is it conceivable that we could try and buy some of their prized assets
eg: Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Lovren etc

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would prefer luke shaw to the other two.
i like lallana and lovren but I think we have better in similar positions (and two or three youngsters waiting to step up next year)

i wouldn't be surprised if southampton hang on to them all. hope for their sakes they do, they have been a breath of fresh air

Agree0 Disagree0

Luke Shaw is being a little over hyped due to being English. Ben Davies at Swansea is a very good left back, with much better stats than Shaw and has played Europa League this year. I'd like to see Lallana at Anfield and maybe Schniderlin as well

My girlfriend and me got into a big argument last night because she misplaced my favorite Gerrard jersey. I was up all night looking for it. Finally after searching for 2 hrs, I found it on top of the table.

Sorry, I will let myself out now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can't remember the score. I've put a quid on Sunderland winning 2-0 with Borini scoring! We will see. lol!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2014 13:32:37
Reading the poll of a newspaper writers predicting who will win the league, I was pleased so see only Andy Hunter predicted we will win the league. Just gives me more ammunition to fire at the rest IF we do win the league.

I was also surprised/miffed to read that Gus Poyet has said "Liverpool would be a mid-table team without Suarez". many foul four letter thoughts entered my mind but I controlled my anger thinking 'he is just a bad loser who without Borini would've already been relegated'.

Beginning to believe in the dream. YNWA

P.S. I dreamt Borinin scored two against West Ham, in case anyone's interested enough to punt.
Cousin, a genuine psychic whose dreams 'always' come true has dreamt Liverpool will win the league. sounds weird, I know, but remember. And it's April 1st tomorrow, not today.
Here's hoping.

Really buzzing today! Some result yesterday. Have been a little apprehensive all season (didn't want to get hurt!) but am now really starting to believe! So much so in fact that I have booked flights across the water and hotel for a couple of nights for the Newcastle game!
On that note lads and lassies, would you have any tips on how I could wrangle a couple of tickets for that game? Websites etc over here in Ireland don't seem too helpful. Would the fellas outside Anfield be charging crazy prices? Be grateful for any help. Been a few years since I was over at a game

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not going to happen i'm afraid mate. Not unless your willing to pay £1k + per ticket.

Usual places like craigslist etc. have all sold out or the one's left are cons.

I've seen some for as much as £3k per ticket now! every time we win the price goes up. I was seeing them going for £600 per ticket before this weekends results

I was kinda relying on Thomas Cook sport tickets (with a hotel included) at around £300 / ticket but they have now sold out as well. They weren't released when I last looked on Friday so probably sold out over the weekend

Those tickets are like gold dust now mate. You've probably got more chance of winning the lottery (the UK one!)

Agree0 Disagree0

The cheapest I have seen a single ticket on sale for on a half reputable site is £550 mate! Do a little browsing online and see what you can find.

Best of luck and even if you don't manage to get one you will have a hell of a night out providing all goes well!

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers lads, I suspected as much! Ah well, not to worry! We'll still go over and have the crack! 'hoping that the monday after the Newcastle game is going to be a long, happy one!

Got a text from my dad last night who hasn't watched Liverpool play since the 90's when (as he puts it), "they made it all about foreign players".

Despite constant reminders that we are clearly on the up, he finally seems to have broken and suggested we go to the Newcastle game at the end of the season.

I think 5 wins and a draw would be enough for the title, city still got to play Everton away and with them so close to CL there stadium will be rocking for that game, I don't see city getting 3 points there. Beat city draw with Chelsea & we'll be good

I came into this world halfway through the 1953/54 season. The season in which Liverpool were relegated.
I started supporting Liverpool in the 1961/62 season - the promotion season. At that stage in Liverpool's history, they had won five first division titles, and had never won the FA Cup. Their most recent Wembley appearance being a two-nil defeat against Arsenal in 1950.
In the first season after promotion, Shankly's Liverpool finished seventh. In the second season they were champions. In the third season they finished eighth (also won the FA Cup, and were cheated out of the European Cup), and in the fourth season they were champions again. Recently, Rodgers has frequently stated that it would be "unprecedented" to improve from seventh to winning the title, and with regard to the Premier League he may well be right, but Shankly did it after gaining promotion to the old fist division (7th, 1st, 8th, 1st).
Rodgers and his team are making me think that perhaps I am going to be fortunate enough to see the dawn of another period of Liverpool success.

Can anyone explain why it looks like Sturridge has got the hump at the moment when all around him are bouncing?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Mar 2014 13:05:04
I was wondering that when he scored against Sunderland Henderson looked passed at him for some reason.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see that myself. clearly he was disappointed not to score with a few of his chances but doubt he seems very happy in all of his media interviews

Agree0 Disagree0

If I had to put in my 2 cents I would say I don't think he is mad or unhappy. I remember reading something about how he has learned a lot from Drogba about how to carry yourself on the pitch, to always have that stone cold look and seriousness when playing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe divisions appearing in the camp?
Sturridge is clearly not a happy bunny at present. Maybe the supposed 'partnership' between him and the bunny is not all that it's made out to be. Could this be a omen for the last 7 games?
Let's hope so!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it can be useful at times, but I would just prefer Gerrard to receive the ball ten yards further forward.}

Recently, Rodgers has frequently stated that it would be "unprecedented" to improve from seventh to winning the title, and with regard to the Premier League he may well be right, but Shankly did it after gaining promotion to the old first division(7th, 1st, 8th, 1st).
Rodgers and his team are making me think that perhaps I am going to be fortunate enough to see the dawn of another period of Liverpool success.

Brilliant. Let's hope so.

Great post m8, I am not as old as you but seen the great Liverpool teams of the late 70s/80s and anfeild is getting bk to one of those places that scare teams, I hope your right m8.

Agree0 Disagree0

DJP I am hoping too, born 1952. Started supporting the same season as you when we got a tele for the first time and my dad got me watching the results.

I have been avid since and I believe this is the best team to watch that we have had in all those years.

A New Era huh LOL

Don't understand the nerves being shown on here with regard to the West Ham game. I know everyone is holding their breath and frightened of putting a jinx on things. BUT there is no such thing as a jinx.
Everton, City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle have all won there this season and have all scored three goals. Even Manchester United scored 2.
The lads will be going there with supreme confidence and Sturridge and Suarez will be rubbing their hands in anticipation.
Watch out for 0-5!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think people are being cautious.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can we all club together and send about 10 cases of Newcy Brown down to big Andy and Kevin Nolan for Friday night?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like a plan Juicer! Haha Cautious optimism is the way to go, every game is now massive and the time we believe we've won beforehand is when we will slip up.

I cannot believe you have not thought about it Brendan

Its all that's been on my mind for 3 month's.

I think he's learnt the lesson of not bigging us up in the press to much.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's deflecting trying to ease the pressure but there's not hiding now. We can dream to win it. Will we? only time will tell but ill be very proud of the team none the less

Agree0 Disagree0

He is trying to play down our chances to reduce pressure on players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course he has thought about it, he's just playing it cool

I expected us to beat Spurs, but I can't believe how easy that was. No nervous moments for me. We didn't even look anywhere near our best either. Class above, we were. Sterling deserved his MOM award - he was brilliant. I can't believe he is only a teenager.

Thoroughly worth the 2am kick off here and my heavy eyes at work today.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed, 1am kick off for me then 10 am - 9 pm at work (gettin smashed as a chef). More than worth it!

I don't know about you all but any LFC win for me is like a triple shot of expresso mixed with about 10 redbull. Absolutely buzzing after every W.

Well done boys, well done! I think Rodgers made the correct move today with the 4-3-3; not quite as radical as 3-5-2, but a change nonetheless. It was certainly a good move as it enabled us to exploit spurs' weakest side (their left, our right). I had a feeling spurs would anticipate the diamond and try to stop that being effective, but the choice of Sigurdsson and Bentaleb showed me to overestimate Sherwood. Dembele and Sandro would've been a wiser choice in my opinion, not sure about injuries, but both were on the bench. It seemed as though they was relying on their pace to cause problems, funny how that worked out :)

The moment team sheet were announced, I was shocked, No sandro, No dembele,
You come to Anfield without a DM and DLP / CM, you would be punished, simple as that.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought we changed formations throughout the game. We started with a 4-3-3, but went to a 4-4-2 with Henderson left, Sterling right and then shifted back again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes we did change formation slightly during the game, this makes it much harder for the opposition to pick up our front three, and other runners, there is no doubt, we are improving and the younger lads like sterling have come on a ton, its looking really good, come on you reds .

Coutinho, Henderson and Sterling. I believe These 3 could become legends at our club. With world class players around them they're really expressing themselves with no fear and sometimes eclipsing the likes of Suarez and Stevie in some games.
Whatever happens this season I don't think it'll be a one off. I'm looking around the group at these 3,,, and Sturridge Flanno Allen Suso thrown in there aswel. We Could be a real force for the next 10 years + with this great manager and squad. Really nice to see.
But back to the focus of west ham now big performance needed. Come on Liverpool

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes mate, the future is looking good. It just goes to show that FSG Transfer policy might not please everyone, but there is certainly some merit in it.

Sakho, Mignolet, Alberto, Borini and Ilori are other potential long-term stars for our club.

Credit to the owners for putting some guidelines in place, and credit to Rodgers for working within those guidelines (in the most part) with a decent track record.

Agree0 Disagree0

Amazing performance from the lads.
I agree, really think we have a quality team for the next decade.
Lets just hope we keep hold of our players.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the backbone of the future will be Sakho, Allen, Henderson and a forward to be named later. I haven't named Coutinho or Sterling because of the law of averages. It's simply impossible for forwards to maintain this kind of form year in and year out. The forward to be named later is because sadly, I expect someone to dangle a 100 Million check in front of FSG's eyes for Suarez, and they will probably take it.

Sterling was phenomenal today, his improvement from last year is absolutely superb - he has clearly got his head down, worked at his game and is now reaping the rewards.

Flanno's transformation has been even more stark. I cannot believe just how comfortable, competent and complete he looks at left back. He has made a huge difference in not only balancing our defence but providing that pure love and passion for LFC. Like Gerrard you can see other players feeding off it, I have been hugely impressed by his contribution and hope he is around for a long time to come, he deserve any and all plaudits heading his way.

Just curious, as it is an outside shot, but does anyone (Ed's or fellow Posters) see Flanno on the plane to Brazil? He has surely been good enough.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Whilst somewhat unspectacular, you know what you will get with Flanagan - hard work, grit and determination. Combined with the right coaching, he is very reliable. I am sceptical as to whether or not Hodgson can bring out what is needed.

Falnno looked magnificent. Sterling has matured as a profesional football player and I can't convince myself of getting another 20 mill LW TBH.
On this form, Sterling would start for any top team who plays attacking offfensive football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Flanno is quality!
Loves the club, and loves the atmosphere.
He was bouncing at the end of the game!

Agree0 Disagree0

If it was picked on form he would be there, but same old England won't be picking on form.

Walker, Naughton, Smalling, Jones and Richards would all be picked over Flanno because he's just not enough of a media darling yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sterling is learning so much with this team. From what ed001 has been saying about BR's coaching I really believe BR has to take some credit in Sterlings form. He has improved so much.

And Flanno too. he will get beaten by pace, yes but how good are his tackles. making the plane to brazil is possible, but I stil think Johnson will be RB and Luke shaw / cole will be LB with Hodgson.

Interesting facts (prior to Spurs game).

A) Stevie G has scored most goals in Prem this season from dead-ball situations than any other player. (10, 8 pens and 2 free-kicks).

B) Stevie G has most dead-ball assists this season (7).

C) Liverpool have scored in first half in their last 21 league games, a prem record.

D) Liverpool have won 11 of last 12 Anfield PL games.

E) Sturridge has scored 11 in 11 games at Anfield this season.

F) Sturridge and Suarez have scored at least 20 goals each this season. This has only happened twice in Prem League history (Cole/Beardsley and Drogba/Lampard).

Enjoy, lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm surprised by the '20 goal' I would of thought other duos would of achieved that. Cole/ Yorke for example.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also scored 4 or more in 11 matches which is a record.
But the record i'd love to see is 14 straight wins never been done, but while we are breaking records :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Obe5 I'm sure the record is 14 already held by Arsenal mate, could be wrong but pretty certain, all the same if it happens itl probably mean we also break the goals scored in a season record to long May it continue

Sorry to post again but Jordan Henderson is the new Ronnie Whelan, ( for the old uns) you don't know he's there untill he is missing. A regular performer week in week out. Consistency through work rate. Is sterling the new John Barnes? Still a long way to go. An old man getting excited and wanting to fly a plane with a banner over old Trafford with the words, CHAMPIONS, whoops, WRONG PLACE.

Great Result, good performance, people will say Spurs didn't turn up but you can only beat what's put in front of you.

I thought every player had a good game; Flanagan got some stick (i know I know constructive critisism) but I thought he was excellent today (didn't have to do to much defensively but got it right); when you have your full backs looking to make incisive passes for goal scoring opportunities (regardless if they don't always come off) then that's a good sign.

Remember last season Dembele knowing Courtinho and the rest off the ball? Sterling didn't let him - what a performance again; his decision making is also getting better and better.

Rodgers deserves the credit as well as the team being able to play out his tactics.

Good night :o)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Flanno was superb!
Didn't hear him get any criticism to be honest mate. other than one dodgy pass that went for a throw.
Other than that he was awesome.

Up until a few weeks ago I still would have been satisfied with 3rd, maybe even 4th. Different matter now though and here is my (for what it's worth) prediction for final points tally:
City 87
Liverpool 87
Chelsea 84

This is based on a City Lpool draw and us beating Chelsea. Also, a Chelsea everton draw.
Obviously Goal difference would decide it and with City better off by 3 and with 2 more games to play, we'd better hammer a few teams (just like yesterday)
