Happy New Year Eds and the entire Liverpool fam. The previous year has been a joy reading each post and the friendly banter / heated debates :D

Thanks for keeping us updated with authentic details Eds, i don't know where we would be without you guys really :p

Ed002, could you ever do an article on the financial side of the game, as we have always been advised to steer clear of monies involved in transfer etc, just curious.

Thanks again for all the efforts Eds and here's to another great year!
Cheers.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - How about we set aside a day when I will try and answer money questions?}

31 Dec 2017 21:02:09
I'd love to know more about the financial side of things because to be quite frank I haven't the slightest about it.

31 Dec 2017 21:55:07
I will be honest, like Salah I don't have clue about the financial side of the game so if you were to set aside a day I would be grateful.

31 Dec 2017 22:26:29
Brilliant Ed I like the rest of us lesser mortals haven't a dog's about the money end of thing's.

31 Dec 2017 22:45:12
How about Wednesdays ed? ;)

01 Jan 2018 12:37:44
Thanks for the reply Ed002, that would be great indeed :D.

31 Dec 2017 20:27:46
Before the night gets blurred. Id like to wish all the fellow reds and eds a happy new year.
Just some predictions for some of theEds for 2018.
Ed1 this site will continue to be a roaring success and you will bank your first million.
Eds25 will keep the southern comfort profits rolling in and the blues will have a good second half of the season apart from a lousy 5th of January.
Eds2 the Chelsea owner will get jailed for money laundering over the costa affair and the club will be demoted to the conference for the 2019 season with the irony Costa will return to be manager.

Hi eds, is it true that Henry has offered coutinho a contract extension?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I would not have thought so.}

31 Dec 2017 22:35:23
Yeah Thierry Henry.

I would like to wish all the Edds and posters a very happy new year. Hope Harry has the best year. All the best for 2018 guys.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yep, have a nifty one.}

31 Dec 2017 18:52:49
Ed am I right in thinking goretzka cannot sign a pre contract with Bayern under the bosman as he is playing in the same country?
Maybe there's ways around if by a gentlemans agreement i don't know.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - He can sign a pre-contract if the clubs both agree. The same as Diego Costa, Sandro Wagner etc.. All signed pre contract agreements. It is nothing to do with the Bowman ruling. Lucas Lima falls into the same category.}

31 Dec 2017 18:59:52
Thanks gaffer.

31 Dec 2017 18:26:37
To deflect away from the Goretzka disappointment, Arsenal just dropped points at West Brom. Good news for us as more of our top4 rivals drop points.

31 Dec 2017 19:11:46

{Ed002's Note - Let me deal with your last sentence first. I spend most of my time explaining things over and over to the less fortunate in the world who are unable to read what has been written or to assimilate anything at all. Those who are not bright enough to understand the posts or who are unable to use the search function. People like you. Your questions were easy to answer and have been dealt with repeatedly on here which you would have known if you had made an effort. I would be more than happy to have answered them again, but no - you want to show yourself as a little johnny jerkoff. And being nasty little stain you are, you decide it better to go after me.}

31 Dec 2017 18:09:29
Looks like vegetable soup is back on the menu.

31 Dec 2017 18:22:13
Ed002's put downs are always so delightfully eloquent.

31 Dec 2017 18:45:32
No nonsense approach from the gaffer. It's why our team will prevail over ed001s :)

31 Dec 2017 19:52:02
I do enjoy the schadenfreude of reading Ed002ā€™s putdowns. Lovely stuff.

31 Dec 2017 20:26:18
Gotta love them comebacks from Ed2 hahaha 'a little johnny jerkoff' - Your a legend Ed2 mate.

31 Dec 2017 20:58:23
Little Jonny jerk off just made brandy come out my nose. Brilliant Ed02.

31 Dec 2017 21:05:28
And the award for the your mum should of swollowed you post in 2017 goes to Ed02.

31 Dec 2017 16:21:52
Probably been mentioned but did anybody notice just how little effort Lovren puts in to get across after Matips pass yesterday? Equally as criminal and I think if he'd bothered to move he would have cut it out before Vardy got there.

Believable3 Unbelievable10

{Ed025's Note - lets get it straight JT, the only villain there was matip, he could have even got back to stop vardy if he was not such a lazy sod mate..

31 Dec 2017 16:41:08
Matip played a hospital pass. End of story, Can was asleep and caught napping, but the pass shouldnā€™t have been made in the first place.

{Ed025's Note - exactly..

31 Dec 2017 16:46:11
Totally agree Ed25, he is bloody useless mate.

31 Dec 2017 16:49:10
Definitely not equally as criminal! However, Ed025, i wouldn't absolve the whole defence of blame.

Matip is clearly the main culprit. Gomez and Lovren were both being pressed and Can was behind a Leicester player. Matip should've responded to the situation and just lamped the ball as far forward as he could. Instead, he played a poor pass out, then failed to track the run of Vardy when the ball came back at us. Even when he did finally react, his attempted challenge was half hearted. That is 4 mistakes; poor decision, then poor execution, then a lack of concentration, capped off by a weak challenge.

However, I'm not prepared to let everyone else off the hook as easily as you are Ed. Lovren, Gomez or Karius should've screamed at him to just clear the ball, or at the very least bawled him out afterwards. Nothing though. Where was captain Milner to challenge Matip afterwards about what he was doing?

Secondly, Can and Milner both made absolutely no effort to make themselves available for a pass. They were both hiding from the ball. Can also made a weak, half hearted challenge to try and reclaim possession and by going to ground, he took himself out of the game and let Leicester get straight at our defence.

Thirdly, Robertson didn't track the run of Mahrez. In fact he looked shocked when he finally realised Mahrez was in behind him. Ball watching.

I'm not really sure Lovren could've got across that quickly but he should've at least done something. Ben Mee made an exceptional goal goal clearance the other day because as soon as he realised he couldn't get to the ball he dropped to the goal line to try and make a block. Lovren looked like a rabbit in headlights. Not his fault, but top class defenders react better than that. He had no influence and might as well have not been there.

I think that goal summed us up defensively. One individual error is all it takes for us to fall to pieces. Nobody is composed enough to make the right decisions in key moments and there is no leadership.

Nobody is as equally to blame as Matip. It's his mistake and he has to wear it. However, the ball then went past 4 different players after he gave it away. Matip put his team mates under pressure, but they buckled under it all by themselves. Karius and Gomez are least at blame i suppose, because they couldn't really do anything aside from tell Matip to hit row Z before the initial error. I hope Matip is dropped for Van Dijk ASAP, but let's not pretend the rest of our defence are perfect. A defence is a unit and there is rarely ever a goal where one player is 100% to blame.

The best piece of defending i saw in the entire game was from Firmino in the dying seconds when he completely wiped out a Leicester player to prevent them hitting us on the counter. It may have seemed small, but it turned their final attack into a pointless long ball forward which killed the game off as the ref blew the whistle before it landed. It is the same every week. Firmino is always our best defender and that is frankly embarrassing considering he's the striker. Nobody else makes the right defensive decisions consistently.

{Ed025's Note - i let the others off MK because matip sold them all down the river, they were all moving forward as they did not expect a professional footballer to play such an idiotic ball into such a dangerous area, you cant legislate for that mate..

31 Dec 2017 16:49:23
Matip was hardly busting a gut to amend for his error. Never thought i would say this but let's hope klavan is brought back in for the game tomorrow.

31 Dec 2017 16:53:07
For me Can was not half asleep.
His first move as the 2x CBS was to drop back and fill in -he then went to try and win an aimless ball played into no-mans land.
The pass was simply not on and Matip mugged Can off. And then stood and watched instead of making a recovery run. Something I picked up in the latter part of his spell at Schalke but was told it was just ā€˜cos he didnā€™t want to be there.

{Ed025's Note - i agree agger..

31 Dec 2017 17:23:45
Matip had a brain fart. Stop trying to deflect away from the real culprit because he is your favorite. Matip is the worst out of our CBs when it comes to defending. At least Lovren and Klavan try, Matip does not break a sweat.

31 Dec 2017 17:28:09
Eds - am I correct in thinking that Matip was highly rated in Germany and that getting him on a 'free' was seen as a bit of a coup at the time? If that's correct does it feel a bit like he's gone backwards - in playing terms - since joining LFC?

I never saw him play previously so don't know if this laziness was always there.

{Ed001's Note - nope not correct at all. It was not seen as a coup.}

31 Dec 2017 17:50:16
Am I the only one who thinks Matip is the CB that should be booted out once we sign another CB to partner VVD? Klavan is a good 4th choice who gets on with his job without complaints and LOvren at least tries. Matip is just lazy and weak without any defensive nous.
He looked good initially in his first few games but has gone backwards since.

31 Dec 2017 18:13:30
Lovren at his best would be a good partner for vvd. Both offer different things. Just a shame we know we can't rely on him to be at his best.

31 Dec 2017 18:29:52
Matip is inexcusably slothful on a football pitch, both mentally and physically, and I've had enough of him. If a player has a physical limitation or a technical limitation that's one thing. But I cannot stand two things from players: Laziness and lack of game intelligence.

Matip shows both and if he didn't, he'd probably be the best defender at the club.

I honestly think our best natural defender (I'm excluding van Dijk from this analysis, btw) is Klavan. His problems stem largely from lack of pace and to be fair to him, he's managed to play around that for the past couple of months.

31 Dec 2017 19:08:09
Klavan has been our best CB recently without a doubt.

31 Dec 2017 19:37:10
How do I post some pics up Ed? I've highlighted in some photos what I mean. I'm not saying that Lovren was to blame, but he literally stood balling watching the entire time.
Before the ball reaches Mahrez on the right, Lovren is about a yard, Maybe a yard and a half away from Vardy.

By the time the ball is at Vardys feet, Lovren is about 5 yards away, Vardys moved right into the 6 yard box at this stage, and Lovren is jogging over the 18 yard line.

For one moment don't think I'm deflecting, but maybe have a look again.

{Ed033's Note - Upload images on the Sightings page.

31 Dec 2017 19:42:24
Like I say, Vardy was a yard, maybe 2 yards away from Lovren when he started, and maybe 6 or 7 yards away when he finished. Vardy didn't make that ground up because he's quick.
I'm far more willing to forgive a misplaced pass than I am giving up when the ball is still there to be won.

31 Dec 2017 19:55:56
3 photos uploaded to sightings. Hopefully this will prove I'm not just Lovren bashing for the sake of it.
Btw Indian Buzzer, when have I ever claimed Matip was the favourite? Barring his first 10 or so games for us, who in their right mind would say that? Gomez, Klavan, and I can't choose for 4th between the other two.

01 Jan 2018 00:09:52
Has anyone else noticed how the criticism of liverpool CBs just goes around in waves.

01 Jan 2018 00:09:52
Has anyone else noticed how the criticism of liverpool CBs just goes around in waves.

01 Jan 2018 11:18:40
Iā€™ve noticed
Itā€™s because they are both slow and take it in turns to have brain-farts.

01 Jan 2018 11:39:11
Matip thinks he is the defender version of Modric. Vardy brushed him when he tried to get back!

31 Dec 2017 16:14:35
Seems to me that coutinho will go in the summer and it also seems to me from the players bought keita chamberlain and those linked goretzka draxler et am, he is looking to create a box to box midfield with a bit of size. Think Chelsea last year. Would seem to me that winaljdum, can, even henderson don't quite fit with an ultra flexible midfield like that. Any thoughts on this?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

31 Dec 2017 16:37:25
Goretzka is off to Bayern apparently.

31 Dec 2017 16:41:38
Goretzka to Bayern is pretty much a done deal.

31 Dec 2017 16:58:58
Like VVD was to City you mean Dennis?

Iā€™m not saying Goretzka is coming to us but perhaps some caution from your side wouldnā€™t go amiss. You were so adamant about VVD stating it was ā€œobviousā€ which left you looking a bit daft.

31 Dec 2017 16:56:54
I agree Can doesn't fit in.

However Henderson does. He is the most flexible midfielder we have currently. Capable of playing literally anywhere in midfield. Holding, box to box, attacking, or even out wide. Wijnaldum is a back up player at best in my opinion, but he is also very flexible. The trouble is he's just not that good.

I agree aside from that though. Chambo, Hendo and Keita all seem very flexible and capable of playing a more traditional midfielder role where they are expected to contribute offensively and defensively. It definitely looks as though that is what Klopp wants.

I fear that Henderson's injuries have finished him though. I think this hamstring injury might by the beginning of the end. Lallana is the same. They both miss half the season every year, and you can't build around players like that. I would keep them both around for experience and depth, but in terms of the first XI it's time to move on for me. Not because of lack of quality, but due to reliability. Sturridge has been available more often in the last 12 months than they have. Daniel Sturridge!

31 Dec 2017 17:20:26
If Hendersonā€™s done as much as his attitude is admirable weā€™re best moving him in. I think weā€™d struggle to find takers though regardless of his fitness. Our midfield is full but not quite what Klopp seems to want so will change it up I think.

01 Jan 2018 11:40:44
Our centre midfield lacks quality we may well be packed with midfielders but how many are genuine top class?

87Red, there was very good reason to believe that we werenā€™t in the hunt for van Dijk, given that City had apparently made an offer and he was being offered to PSG and Barcelona (apparently? ) as well as our appalling actions in the summer.

01 Jan 2018 11:41:04
Hmm if I was Mr Hendo and read that MK it's like a red flag waved to a bull I would not write anyone off so easily especially someone deemed worthy of captaincy. It's purely speculation on your part there.

31 Dec 2017 16:06:49
Tomorrow marks the beginning of me checking this site every 10 minutes for a month looking for transfer updates

Eds, please do me a favour and let me know every player that we'll sign and sell in January now and exactly when they will join.

We all know that you have the info, hand over the goods!

31 Dec 2017 15:36:16
Do you believe we will sign Goretzka?
I really hope we do. šŸ¤ž.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

31 Dec 2017 15:40:54
Eds have said he was our keita back up. That being said if we have interest and couts goes in Jan certainly we could make a move imho.

{Ed002's Note - Use the search engine or read the posts.}}

31 Dec 2017 15:57:11
German Media: Goretzka agreed to move to Munich. That should end this topic as well. ^^.

31 Dec 2017 17:22:09
German media, like the Spanish media, feed the masses with crap like the scummy papers here do. I donā€™t understand how they arenā€™t controlled (news papers) when the bulk of what they post are farces and fallacies.

31 Dec 2017 15:04:54
Is it possible for Barcelona to sign Coutinho in Jan, but agree to a loan back for the remainder of the season? They get the player they want and we keep his momentum for the rest of the season? Something similar to the Mbappe deal with PSG?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes but that is not the deal with Mbappe.}

31 Dec 2017 15:15:26
Whatā€™s this Mbappe deal? PSG signed him and heā€™s playing.

{Ed002's Note - No. Take it to the European pages.}

31 Dec 2017 16:29:49
PSG have an option to buy at the end of the loan. Youā€™re talking about Coutinho agreeing to move but staying put on loan. Opposite to Mbappe. Itā€™s more similar to Keita.

31 Dec 2017 17:23:01
Itā€™s not really an option to buy isnā€™t it a duty to buy?

31 Dec 2017 17:32:01
A Keita style deal may be a decent compromise here but probably won't happen. Barcelona look to be in control of the league and Coutinho can't play in the CL for them so agree a fee and leave him here with us to help us qualify for the CL again in 2018. Win win all round I reckon. won't happen I guess.

01 Jan 2018 04:06:09
Apologies my explanation was a bit arse about face. Yes more similar to Keita. Barcelona do deal for Coutinho but he stays with us till end of season.
Think it would be good all round.

01 Jan 2018 11:37:15
Because if that were the case he'd be playing for Monaco and not psg wouldn't he. Dear me šŸ™ˆšŸ™ˆ.

31 Dec 2017 14:48:40
Alright Eds bit premature but happy New year to you and all my fellow posters keep up the great work lads terrific imformative and factual site. Anyways expect pip to go in the summer deal to be agreed this window expect world class keeper, full back and attacking midfielder to be addressed in the summer don't think we will do much else in Jan unless pip goes and we can replace him with top player although with hendo injured till February we might push for the naby deal to be done sooner think there will some outgoings sales and loan deals for our fringe players expect studge or ings or both to be sold or loaned out . Team steadly improving don't think VVD will sort everything out in the backline single handed but will vastly improve things as i believe he has the leadership qualities needed to organise and add some steel to our leaky defence think gomez and TAA will benifite enormously from him as a result .
Anyway happy New year to you all
Keep the faith
Come on the super reds.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Happy new year - and as Liverpool supporters you are all premature I here.}

Klopp confirms Mignolet will start against Burnley.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

31 Dec 2017 13:55:40
Wonderful.

31 Dec 2017 14:12:25
Happy new year guys!

31 Dec 2017 14:21:36
What a joke this whole goalkeeper situation is turning out to be. I really donā€™t get Kloppā€™s thinking with this one. Why even bother starting Karius if you are going to drop him after one game?

31 Dec 2017 14:24:26
Nothing like giving Burnley a late Christmas present.

31 Dec 2017 14:48:03
We have all had that one friend that should leave their partner who is just not good for them, we can all see it but no matter what they never do. They have better options out there staring them in the face but for reasons beyond you and everyone close to them they always run back to that one person. This is Klopp with Mignolet and Karius, sad thing is if we are all being honest, deep down we all knew Klopp would start Mignolet for our next game.

31 Dec 2017 15:23:04
Red Sandman - Exactly mate, I just don't understand it. wrote out a paragraph but deleted it I'm fedup of saying the same thing regarding the GK situation, it winds me up and I'm trying to have a chilled day lol.

31 Dec 2017 15:25:02
It is stupid. But unbeaten in what 17 games? Everyone knows where I stand on migs, but what Klopp as done he's created competition in every position on the pitch and his has worked. He's trying to do so with gk, in which unfortunately it hasn't worked with migs making countless errors.

31 Dec 2017 15:46:25
Benny - itā€™s hardly rotation or competition for places if Migs is guaranteed his starting position regardless of the errors and points drops that he has caused.

Karius didnā€™t have the best game, but didnā€™t have a stinker either. Yet he was still dropped after just one game. How is that useful in any way for the team? Most of the criticism of Kariusā€™ performance were in relation to his kicking which could have been down to nerves. Give the lad a wee run on games to get his confidence up and see how he gets on. Donā€™t just play him for a single game at home.

Honestly this goal keeper situation is just so effing frustrating.

I get that you donā€™t want to change a winning team - but Migs was single handily losing us points. When is enough enough?

Red Sandman.

31 Dec 2017 16:26:19
Cheers for the thumbs down guys. I assure you though it's not me picking him šŸ˜‚.

{Ed025's Note - i always say....shoot the messenger.. :)

31 Dec 2017 17:22:17
I don't think the keeper situ will be resolved in this transfer window but I hope an pray that come the summer it's taxi for migs an I'll drive him if you want.

31 Dec 2017 21:15:51
Don't know about a taxi. Someone needs to show Klopp old yella. Sometimes you've got to do things you don't like for the good of the dog.

31 Dec 2017 13:15:23
Not sure if this has been ask but can van the man be included in the squad tomorrow?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I assume you mean "from the man", and nit has been asked and answered.}

31 Dec 2017 14:30:47
He can't play until after the Burnley game.

31 Dec 2017 16:01:18
Thanks Firmane.

31 Dec 2017 11:57:22
My personal review on the game.

Karius - Didn't really have anything to do. But his kicking at times was a worry, But i think that was nerves so it is something that can be improved.

Gomez - Had a good game. Made some great tackles but didn't seem to want to get forward too much because he seemed to want to cover Matip.

Matip - Horrible pass out from the back that lead to there goal early on. And even though he had little to do seemed to make it look like Leicester had chances to get back into the game.

Lovren - Looks half the player when paired with matip. Doesn't seem to know if he can push out or drop of because he has no understanding with matip like he does Klavan.

Robertson - At times made some good tackles but other times was easily beaten. Only delivered 1 good cross which was for Mane's ruled offside goal. Also had the feeling that 100% of the time he had the ball he just wanted to give it to coutinho.

Can - Did ok in the game, Nothing really of note to say. Worked hard, Tried to get the ball forward.

Milner - Spent a lot of time on the left hand side. Either by instruction or his own accord didn't trust Robertson and was doing his job.

Coutinho - Same old this season, Tried to do too much with the ball, Did very little to help out defensively. Made some good passes but nothing that made me think we'd fall away without him.

Mane - Still not his typical best performance wise but was getting in good positions and had 2 goals disallowed. He looks like he is going to hit form in time for the second half of this season.

Salah - 2 well taken goals and could have had a few more too. Some will give him man of the match but not for me this time. But he was very good.

Firmino - My man of the match. I genuinely love this guy. Forget getting his name on the back of my shirt, Ill tattoo his name on my back haha. Seriously though had an off day and was still the best player on the pitch in my opinion. Just an absolute genius of a player.

Just one quick thought i had, our attack reminds me of another attack,

Salah - Henry
Firmino - Bergkamp.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed025's Note - they are very good players SH, but lets not compare them to henry and bergkamp just yet, they are for me the best 2 premiership players ever, get a bloody grip man!.. :)

31 Dec 2017 12:17:44
haha ed025, Ireally do think they are up there. Salahs goal threat is up there with henrys and firmino is just as much of a genius as bergkamp, if we had a defence and keeper as good as arsenal had then i think we would be 15 points clear with city also.

{Ed025's Note - firmino as good as bergkamp?????...wash your mouth out with soap mate..

31 Dec 2017 12:12:24
Plus they won't stay around long enough too establish themselves as legends, we all know wat happens when the very big boys e. g Barcelona, real Madrid, an psg too a certain extent come calling an if we ain't in champions league or winning cups wat can we expect these guys are real quality.

31 Dec 2017 12:22:46
Ed25 I think its you that needs to get a grip, every man and his dog knows that Bruno Cheyrou the magician and Andriy Voronin the long hair deadly assassin were the best players to grace the premiership.

{Ed025's Note - i forgot about them two alonso, the morcambe and wise of skillful football, they did for football what hattie jaques did for weightwatchers mate..

31 Dec 2017 12:41:59
Matip did play an awful pass yes, but should can have made a move for him and try and make an angel. Not defending matip, if nothing was on don't force it, get rid - but still think can could have helped by being where the pass was on.

{Ed025's Note - if he was not in a good place then why pass to him firmane?, matip made a pigs ear of it and is solely the one to blame..

31 Dec 2017 13:09:54
firmane what do you mean could have been were the pass was on, he wasn't so matip shouldn't have played it. Can was in a position to recieve a pass yet matip played it into the wilderness.

31 Dec 2017 13:24:32
I'm probably going to get slated but as bad as matips pass was, I think Robertson could have been in a better position. I'm not saying he could have stopped the goal, I just think he took himself out of the equation. I think it's great bombing up the pitch when we're in a decent position to attack but with vardy floating around, delay the run until the ball is away from your box. Adding to that, while I like the attacking intent, I can't help but feel he took up a lot of space that mane could have used. The last few games I thought Robertson had improved but yesterday I thought he had taken a few backward steps.

31 Dec 2017 13:39:55
Firmane makes an excellent point. Whilst Matip should have used his brain and just cleared it if there was no option, Can is so lazy at times.

Can and Gini both do this actually. They almost never move to find space and give people options. Gini is the worst though. Watch him next time he plays and he literally hides behind opposition players. Against Swansea i clocked him nearly every time seemingly deliberately trying to stay behind a Swansea player.

Gini and Can are both hiding. Neither player wants the ball in midfield areas right now and it makes it so hard for us to play out from the back at times. We are really going to miss Henderson in January. I really hope we can sign Keita or Goretzka so we have someone in the middle if the park who wants the ball, and has a bit more quality than Milner!

31 Dec 2017 18:13:26
Totally agree MK about Wini especially. So frustrating to see him taking up positions where he literally has no chance of receiving the ball, especially when he has the touch, skill and drive to receive, move around players and drive towards goal. Heā€™s at his best when he does this and he is capable but hasnā€™t been doing it enough this year Iā€™m afraid.

31 Dec 2017 11:41:16
Ed's I remember one of you say we could use Firmino in Pipco position if need be. Do you think they may try this before buying in January. This way if it works money could be spent in other areas. And all the best to everyone.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Or potentially Mane and Salah. However, if Pipco is to leave in January I would expect Liverpool to be looking at their list of potential replacements.}

31 Dec 2017 12:14:14
Firmino is playing so well at the moment I wouldnā€™t change his position.

31 Dec 2017 14:01:51
Scarry - I asssume you didn't go the match yesterday because if you did there is no way that Salah wasn't MOTM. He was miles ahead of the rest. Firmino offered zero goal threat. Without Salah we would have lost the game.

Firmino and Salah switched positions after 10 minutes of the second half and that is what made the difference. The goals were down to Salah with a contribution from a Mane back heal.

I wish people would start to give Salah the credit he deserves on this forum.

31 Dec 2017 11:29:13
I have a question for ed2 if he will. If Nike have leaked the transfer or are further unsettling the player on barcas behalf. Will they or have they broken any laws and could they be punished.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - In terms of the laws of the game they would not have made any direct approach for the player so strictly speaking no. In terms of professionalism, if they did actually deliberately put out a press release, it is entirely unacceptable. If anything did actually happen it would not have been deliberate on behalf on Nike.}

31 Dec 2017 11:45:47
With the actual link being dead, and it happening Apri midnight/ the early hours, I believe they were just getting it prepared/ tested and wasn't expecting anyone to see it. However news travels fast, gossip travels at the speed of light.

31 Dec 2017 12:12:28
I canā€™t believe there was an accident at all. It went out, it was removed but the message is clear. It certainly looked like Coutinho may hav3 been holding his back when he was substituted.

{Ed002's Note - Some sort of conspiracy against Liverpool maybe? Laughable, you really are the most naive fans in the world.}

31 Dec 2017 12:25:38
It was on the official Barcelona website, buy Barcelona had no knowledge? Pull the other one.

{Ed002's Note - What do you think was on the Barcelona web site?}

31 Dec 2017 12:43:43
Benny, you can test without going live on sites, they have test sites for that. Plus it was just a little wording, I doubt they would need to do a full on site test. Not saying it's right or wrong, just i heavily doubt it was a test gone wrong.

31 Dec 2017 12:43:25
Whatā€™s Coutinhos new number out of interest?

{Ed025's Note - iscariat 40..

31 Dec 2017 14:47:28
Will New balance or dunkin donuts be announcing our transfers from now on Then?

31 Dec 2017 15:53:56
Not a conspiracy at all ed2 and as a pool supporter in certainly not going to criticise another club's behaviour in getting players. I was just disagreeing with benny about it being a test. I can't see a mistake like that happening. I was however suggesting that cout might take the opportunity to act up as he did. Personally, it's just another move in an embarrassing saga. Let the player leave as it is likely causing quite a fair bit of disharmony in the dressing room.

{Ed002's Note - What other club is this?}

31 Dec 2017 16:10:41
Oh no. I shouldn't have said anything. I'm about to get owned by ed2. I meant whatever happened with coutinho and shirt numbers and websites and whatnot was unlikely to be a test or an error. But I'm not going to criticise Barcelona if they were aware of it happening as it would be hypocritical as Liverpool's behaviour in attaining players or unsettling players has been dreadful.

{Ed002's Note - How is it anything to do with Barcelona. If Bic (Liverpoolā€™s Ball Point Pen Partner) were to drop its electric raspberry colour (the same colour used in Young Boys fourth European away kit), would it be the fault of Liverpool?

31 Dec 2017 16:41:40
I see your point. I just thought it strange it was linked on the Barcelona website according to the (admittedly dubious) telegraph. I just can't see them having the site linked to their page and being unaware that couts number was put up without Nike informing them. I also can't see Nike making such an error like that but who knows. If you think there was nothing in it, there was probably nothing in it.

31 Dec 2017 21:19:02
I believe coutinios new number is 708 7080. TAXI.

01 Jan 2018 11:35:28
The Nike advertisement for Barcelona - coutinho jerseys and the link to buy them were on the official Barcelona website, I highly doubt Nike have the power to post links on their website without their knowledge, if this was Liverpool they'd have strips tore off them,

31 Dec 2017 11:15:28
Personally I think Pipco will be here to the summer then we should cash in hold out for Ā£125 mil. Go and bring in Deaxler and Lorenzo Insigne as attacking options.

Look at Oblak or even bring in Schmicheal or Samir Handanovic who have 2 or 3 good Seasons left in them and use that time to find the best young keeper we can.

I do feel there is something wrong in our keeper coaching department as they all seem to make the same mistakes so a shake up in that department is needed.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

31 Dec 2017 11:21:08
I would blow a large chunk of the money from Coutinho on Oblak if there was even a chance of getting him but like the Ed's have said repeatedly he has offers elsewhere and would not be moving to us.

31 Dec 2017 11:29:34
Schmeichel is woeful mate.

31 Dec 2017 11:40:16
I would go for Brandt and Goretzka to replace Can and Coutinho. Don't need more than two players since Keita will also come. We only need to pay a signing on fee to Goretzka sinc he is a free transfer and Brandt will have only a year left on his contract so his price will also be reasonable. The extra monies from a Coutinho sale should be used to sign another CB to partner VVD.

31 Dec 2017 12:15:07
Goretzka would be a great signing and arguably an improvement over Can, but Iā€™m not sure I would want him covering the holding midfield position any more than I want Can in it. I would love to see us sign someone more at home in that position.

31 Dec 2017 12:37:24
Indian Buzzer get out of my head! Now all we need is to channel this telepathy with Klopp and we could be onto something.

31 Dec 2017 13:07:16
I genuinely canā€™t believe that people even consider Schmeichel as a potential recruit. Heā€™s terrible.

31 Dec 2017 21:21:02
Schmeichels that bad his dad wants a paternity test.

01 Jan 2018 11:33:18
I donā€™t care who says what, itā€™s a fact that Barcelona and their Spanish have been very dirty in their pursuit of pipco. They have even made it worse by advertising him as a Barcelona player when he there is nothing official from the Liverpool side. They have been very disrespectful to Liverpool.

31 Dec 2017 10:14:26
Eds, obviously Coutinho is desperate to move to Barcelona asap, what I don't understand is why we'd be willing to let him leave in January when we're almost certainly going to be unable to register his replacement in the Champions League this season? Surely we wouldn't go into the knockout stages without our best player, or any kind of quality replacement?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - what has Salah to do with this?}

31 Dec 2017 10:53:18
What does Bobby Firms have to do with any of this?

31 Dec 2017 10:50:34
I like what you did there Ed1 :)

{Ed001's Note - cheers ;-)

31 Dec 2017 10:55:49
lovely ed001 ha.

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate.}

31 Dec 2017 14:22:18
Fair enough lol but point still stands no?

31 Dec 2017 21:27:46
Why are people desperate to hold on to Coutinio till the summer. Yes he's quality but I'd rather play Llanna or the Ox and let him go. It's like clinging on to your bird when you know she's smashing your best mate.

31 Dec 2017 10:14:13
I do worry that of coutinho leaves in Jan, that we are going to miss his creativity. He is putting a lot of the through balls through at the moment for Salah and co - the replacement needs to have that vision and passing range for me.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

31 Dec 2017 10:35:36
Agree Firmane. Salah is scoring for fun and Firmino's goals and workrate are taking the laudits this season but Coutinho is the cog in the machine that makes us tick. Les hope we do not realise what we are missing once it has gone.

31 Dec 2017 11:23:56
Agreed. His long rangers are great to watch but itā€™s his vision, courage and ability to dribble and pick a splitting ball that we will miss the most. Havenā€™t seen enough of any of the mentioned replacement potentials to know if they can do the same thing though.

31 Dec 2017 09:54:44
Hey eds and fellow reds,
Now that coutinho departure is almost certain, who do you all think is the ideal replacement? Someone who is adept both as a forward and a midfielder, great shooting and passing, delightful ball control, and etc etc. Sorry if I sound like a fanboy, but his coming in to the team coincided with my first proper tryst with this great club, and unquestionably he has been my favourite player ever since. Would really be gutted when he leaves.
Hope that someone else can step in to fill that void. Would love to hear all of your opinions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Dec 2017 10:07:51
I really hope we do not sell Coutinho in this window and at least hold onto him until the summer. However I'm a realist and once we bought VVD for 75 mill then deep down i knew that could be the end of him. If he goes then it's how he is replaced that could define our season. Lemar at 90 mill is being linked who most people want and then there is also players like Pulsic who again would not be cheap. However media are reporting again today that we will move for Lanzini (cheaper option) as his replacement.

31 Dec 2017 10:09:41
Mane is already there to fill the void at left wing. as part of the central midfield group, coutinho is fully replacable. Lallana is here, as is Ox, keita is coming. I'd like to see us bring in quality depth to play in the front 3. Firmino, mane and salah are quality. if Can really goes then would love goretzka.

31 Dec 2017 10:10:39
there are good players but most of them are cup tied that's the problem.

31 Dec 2017 10:23:42
Sorry Faithinworks but there isnā€™t the like for like quality in the squad to replace Coutinho if he goes, none of the players you name has even close to similar skills as Coutinho. As things stand heā€™s probably only second to De Bruyne at Man City in terms of being a creative midfielder. We will clearly have to replace, but the answer isnā€™t Lanzini because he is neither consistent enough or of high enough quality. Itā€™s either Lemar, Insigne or Malcolm (Bordeaux) as far as Iā€™m concerned.

31 Dec 2017 10:28:58
Not keen on lemar atall. Would pursue pulisic in the summer if he'd would the potential move to us. Think he'll be light years ahead of lemar within 3 years. Not convinced by lemar atall.

31 Dec 2017 11:06:43
Agree lanzini is not good enough. Coutinho is a world class player so needs to be replaced with a world class player. Dele ali would be my first choice but that's never going to happen unfortunately. Imagine a midfield 2 of goretkza and keita then mane LW salah row and dele playing behind firmino.

Enough dreaming my second choice would be insigne off napoli. Has everything but that would be a tough deal to do also

Lemar or draxler? I'm torn between the two. Both fantastic players who will only get better. Either of those two would also be great signings.

I'm still baffled as to why we would sell coutinho in jan. I accept he wants to go which isn't a problem but why not do a deal now for the summer. We are in last 16 in the champions league and all those options I suggested are cup tied and losing coutinho is losing one of our best players for the most important trophy in club football. Do people honestly think if he stays that he wouldn't wanna win the champions league? 2nd place in the league is also up for grabs and the player we get to replace him might not hit the ground running straight away so we need to think long term. Secure champions league and hopefully trophy and sell the lil magician in the summer.

31 Dec 2017 11:29:15
Pulisic would be a fantastic signing, 2 years with and we'll be talking about coutinwho?

31 Dec 2017 11:29:38
I have said it before and will say it again Julian Brandt, he is a very good footballer already, well thought of and is only 21 years old. He was Klopps number 1 target in the summer and I believe this guy can become world class, he can operate in that deeper role that Coutinho currently occupies and can also play on the flanks in the front 3, which Coutinho is sometimes asked to do. I will make a statement similar to what Ian Wright said about Salah on MOTD last night, in that Salah reminds him of Messi, which he obviously meant is not on that level just the way he plays, close control etc. Julian Brandt has something that reminds me of Kevin De Bruyne but again obviously not at that level yet and might never reach it but all in all would be my choice.

31 Dec 2017 11:33:36
All the above players mentioned are primarily wingers IMO. We need an central attacking creative force to replace Couts and Iā€™m not sure any of the above fit the bill. Maybe Iā€™m wrong but I think if he could persuade Madrid to sell us one of Isco, Asensio or Kovacic, any would be a good replacement.

{Ed002's Note - There has been a discussion about Asensio with another side but he certainly won't be joining Liverpool. Real Madrid has a lengthy list of players they are willing to move on that includes the likes of Mateo Kovacic but it is Dani Ceballos who Liverpool were approached about. A loan is likely before a decision is made whether to sell or not - so that might be a reasonable place to look in the short-term at least.}

31 Dec 2017 09:31:34
Good morning Eds and Reds. Hope you all have a great new year! - 365 opportunities, I hope you use them well :)

Great to go into it only 4 points off 2nd, I didn't realise how close we were, if we crack on and continue playing like we have been who knows, 2nd/ 3rd might be possible but I know it's still very early.

Believable12 Unbelievable0

31 Dec 2017 09:12:22
Hi ed01 I think it was you who mentioned a good few years back who mentioned that mourinhos persona was completely different in private than the grump we see through the media and in particular it was mentioned how he would go out of his way to pull opposition players and give them feedback on improving there games. Just wondering if this was something he still does or has he changed over time. Seems to be very miserable at present not that am complaining mind.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - from what I have been told, he is still excellent at charity work etc but he is not the same with players. He seems to be very fed up with life in general to me.}

31 Dec 2017 09:25:05
Not trying to stick the knife in, but I said this when he lost the Chelsea job second time. He seems genuinely depressed and his mental state doesn't seem healthy at all.

31 Dec 2017 09:29:07
he needs to take a break from the game imo.

31 Dec 2017 10:17:46
Still the same guy who verbally attacked ambulance services, criticised and defamed a physio and caused a referee to resign after the abuse he meated out.
He wonā€™t get on my Christmas card list šŸ¤.

{Ed025's Note - mine neither ron..despicable person..

31 Dec 2017 08:57:11
Ed001 mate, I made it my business to watch Robertson yesterday after reading a few of your comments about him and you were spot on.
His deliveries were really really poor. No pressure on him and plenty of time yet he time and time again hit the first man.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I know mate, he needs to work on it as his decision making is poor. Still, it is early days and hopefully he will improve and start picking out our players instead of opposition ones in time.}

31 Dec 2017 09:22:14
Spot on, Jimmy and Ed. Robbo has a long way to go and frankly, is still learning as he is new at this level of football at a big club where you are expected to perform at a high level. People just need to allow him to grow and mature at his own pace instead of bigging him up whereas he has not earned that status yet by any stretch currently.

31 Dec 2017 09:29:27
His crossing was pretty poor yesterday. Was in good positions numerous times, once in particular in the second half, Salah was un marked at the back post, just needed a deft ball over the keeper, needed up on row 22 in block 108!

Hopefully he will improve, I like the lad His crossing was pretty poor yesterday. Was in good positions numerous times, once in particular in the second half, Salah was un marked at the back post, just needed a deft ball over the keeper, needed up on row 22 in block 108!

Hopefully he will improve, his attitude seems so he in the right place.

31 Dec 2017 10:02:27
I agree, I have not been impressed with what I have seen so far but heā€™s only young and we paid a relatively small sum for him so Iā€™m not expecting the next Ashley Cole.

31 Dec 2017 08:35:35
Just want to get away from the transfer saga's for a moment.

I thought the officials had a terrible day yesterday, anyone go on here?

The time wasting by Schmeichel at goal kicks was horrendous, with only 1 min added time at the end of the first half. He was repeatedly warned but still got away with it.

And did anyone see Can getting a yellow card when Maguire wouldn't let go of the ball once we'd equalised? There there some nasty challenges by the Leicester players that went un punished yet Can gets a card for trying to get the ball. Shocking

I don't usual get irate at the match but yesterday I certainly did.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

31 Dec 2017 09:24:13
Drogie, there are three refs who are consistently useless and incompetent in the PL. Kevin Friend, Craig Paulson, Lee Mason and you guessed it, Neil Swarbrick who reffed our game last night. Whenever we have any of these officials, I just know we will have a crap show from either of them and yesterday, proved it for the upteenth time.

{Ed025's Note - its amazing how referees who dont bend over for liverpool supporters are suddenly poor refs, maybe if they give you a few dodgy penalties or send off the odd opponent they will be top notch..unbelievable..

31 Dec 2017 09:42:09
Leicester were just doing what they thought they had to to slow the game down and knock us out of our stride, Ed025 is probably familiar with these tactics with Big Sam in charge now šŸ˜‰.

{Ed025's Note - i am very familiar with it unfortunately squizza..

31 Dec 2017 09:44:43
Ed 25 still fuming after last nights horror show. šŸ˜‚.

{Ed025's Note - more disappointed than fuming eka, it seems like the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off again mate, but what i wont be doing is blaming the ref, the weather or anyone else for our shortcomings...unlike some..

31 Dec 2017 09:47:27
Unfortunately you can't play a game of football with out a ref. For every decision they make they're pleasing one set of fans and upsetting the other. Thankless task and human error will always make it the impossible.

{Ed025's Note - you do talk a lot of sense jayden....are you sure your not a blue mate?..

31 Dec 2017 10:14:59
Ed 25 šŸ˜‚ No chance mate, I'd rather give up watching football all together than support Everton šŸ˜‰. As part of my job I had to gain a certain number of officiating qualifications and once ref'd an adults game of football. Hand on heart it was one of the worst experiences of my life. The way I was spoken too throughout was embarrassing and I've never ref'd a football game since.

{Ed025's Note - i done a season reffing junior football many moons ago jayden, bloody nightmare mate..

31 Dec 2017 10:53:59
Thats 4 refs!

31 Dec 2017 11:35:30
Yep Irish, beat me to it!

02 Jan 2018 22:23:53
Ed25, I never asked a ref to bend over to help my team win. I want them to be fair and consistent, that's it. The refs I mentioned are NONE of these and are consistently poor whether it is when they ref our games or other games that don't involve LFC.

{Ed025's Note - however good or bad a ref is depends on decisions he gives for or against you brover thats just the way it is, i remember a certain clive thomas in a very memorable semi final gifting liverpool the game, not many reds were calling for his head then and that was to be expected, we all want better officials mate...... especially when a decision goes against us..

31 Dec 2017 07:56:24
Hey ed001, a question for you. If you could get your wish, who would you sign, Lemar or Pulisic?
Thanks and keep up the good work.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - Pulisic, I like Lemar but Pulisic is at least as good, has a fantastic attitude, great background, good family and would be many times ahead of any other player in the game we could buy in term of marketing as he will be the best player ever to come from the USA.}

31 Dec 2017 08:38:48
Edā€™s not seen much of Pulisic would he be able to replace Coutinho? Also what do you make of what Nike posted about Coutinho? Do you think the club will change there stance this month or do you think more likely in summer?

{Ed001's Note - he is a winger/forward, so sort of replace Coutinho. I really do not care what Nike did, Coutinho is desperate to go and I am sure we will end up letting him go in January. I really can't see him staying past then, I expect the club to buy his replacement in the window.}

31 Dec 2017 08:47:21
And the likelyhood of signing either?

{Ed001's Note - that has been dealt with many times.}

31 Dec 2017 08:50:37
ED 01, I think Klopp tried to sign him, didn't he?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, he is not ready to move though.}

31 Dec 2017 09:16:42
Anyone notice couts when he came off the pitch he turned round and applauded the crowd. I think that just confirmed what ed1 said he's off in this window.

31 Dec 2017 09:26:51
Pulisic has said repeatedly personally and via his father (his agent) that he is not interested in moving since last Jan when Klopp went for him. I don't think that will change this time or in the summer, IMO. As for Cou leaving, Ed is right here and we need to just accept it and move on. Cou will go and we will move on. Who will we sign to replace him, I don't know.

31 Dec 2017 09:23:33
Thanks ed1 Iā€™d be surprised this month if let him go.

{Ed001's Note - I would be surprised if he stayed personally.}

31 Dec 2017 10:26:47
I believe Coutinho leaves January. Hope we get a good price for him. Seen Lemar play only once, so I won't pass a judgement. However, I've seen Pulisic play a number of times and I would prefer waiting till the end of the season to see if we can get Pulisic, instead of going for Lemar.

31 Dec 2017 10:29:48
At this point, I just don't care what happens with Coutinho. He could end up staying, go to Barcelona or sleep in the gutter but as long as we replace him properly I doubt many LFC fans will be complaining.
This saga has just gotten boring now. Bring on Lemar, Draxler, Brandt whoever it is coz I doubt they will be throwing hissy fits like Coutinho does.

31 Dec 2017 10:32:09
Ed what would be a disaster is letting him go this month and not getting a replacement in. Im hoping that the club share the same view mate?

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure it would be as his staying was disruptive in the summer and has left us behind where we would have been.}

31 Dec 2017 13:54:06
Best player the USA has ever produced? Didn't realise we were looking at Freddy Adu to join us :p.

good one zpecialone.

Ed 001, I think you may be on to something with Ndidi. I think he is going to be a top player going forward.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is a quality ballwinner who is decent enough on the ball to be part of a much better side than Leicester.}

31 Dec 2017 04:57:23
We donā€™t need a ball winner! No chance after we signed Kieta now. We have enough midfielders who could win the ball!

31 Dec 2017 05:54:32
Keita is a ball carrier whoā€™s good enough to win it too - Ndidi is something different and would play in the deeper role and would be a good fit IMO, adding a bit of defensive steel when required.

31 Dec 2017 05:54:46
Ndidi as a base with any combo of can, gini, lallana, keita, milner playing box to box wpuld be great imo. always thought that we didn't neccessarily need a cdm by title, just one of those 3 to be more natutally inclined to cover defenssive side of the game.

31 Dec 2017 07:41:21
Ball winner. Ball carrier. Ball buster. It's 2018, can't a player tackle and run with a ball?!

31 Dec 2017 08:47:59
we used to call them midfielders when i was growing up.

31 Dec 2017 09:27:35
Same for me, KK7. Don't know what all these new terminologies mean, myself.

31 Dec 2017 10:05:52
Ndidi, Keita and Coutinho would be a great middle 3.dreamland I know but I think he is just what we need.

This why coutinho has appeared more smiley on the pitch lately? He celebrating goals even!

31 Dec 2017 09:00:43
Well apparently heā€™s looking for a house there. Remember the same thing was said here about Keita a few months back and we all believed it. So why not the reverse. Goodbye PC.

31 Dec 2017 00:52:58
Watched todays game back after reading some posts and was surprised by karius critics didn't do much wrong in the match tbh.

Curious to get ppls views on emre can today, seemed out of place in first half and only really got going when pushed forward. Dunno if he is guilty of yaya toure syndrome but always seems slow to move about the pitch! No doubt the lad has talent but maybe doesn't suit our system hence why klopp is happy for him to move on.

On a side note robertson was very wasteful in posession. enough said about that already.

Can is playing out of position.

31 Dec 2017 06:57:44
Emre seemed to lack desire. In Hendo's absence he has the chance to step up and take control of the midfield; show that he can be a leader, but maybe his heart is away from LFC.

31 Dec 2017 08:05:50
Can has no discipline, plays a pass, chargers forward without thinking if thereā€™s any cover.

31 Dec 2017 09:01:28
Do you think Emre knows heā€™s on the way out and his head isnā€™t in it?

31 Dec 2017 09:30:38
OP, Karius, Moreno, Hendo and even Klavan and Lovren, can do absolutely nothing right in the eyes of many not just on this site BUT on other fan sites as well as people can't seem to bring themselves to say this or that player had a good game w/ o some kind of sly dig/ nitpicking to go with it.

31 Dec 2017 10:07:22
Add Mignolet to that list too.

Nike leaking that he has moved or merely a hack?

it's not just the English site. You really reckon the hackers translated that Coutinho line perfectly to all languages?

Never ever ever thought Iā€™d say this, but we miss Moreno. Robertson is simply not good enough, I thought he was the answer but I fail to see what heā€™s good at other than the odd good ball in to no one.

And also itā€™s nearly 2018, how is Milner still playing centre midfield for a top 4 aspiring team?

31 Dec 2017 00:28:20
Its a squad game jord. Guys like milner are priceless.

31 Dec 2017 00:39:40
Moreno and Henderson have long term injuries, so the squad players have a chance to step up. Its called real life so Klopp cannot just draft in Dani Alves or a powered up Pirlo. Itā€™s not FIFA 18, get a grip.

31 Dec 2017 00:58:09
He's a young lad still learning he's doing ok.

31 Dec 2017 01:41:37
He wasted a few good opportunities in attack, yes, but I thought his cover and awareness in defence was pretty top notch IMO. He can do better but not a disaster either, give the lad time.

31 Dec 2017 01:41:46
Have we even lost with Robertson on the pitch? Leicester league cup is all I remember. How many goals have we scored since Moreno has been injured? So why exactly are we missing Moreno? Robertson shades it defensively for me. I still prefer Moreno because he has come on drastically going forward can combines well with the attackers, but it would be extreme to say he is missed right now. Conversely his consecutive defensive errors led to Sevilla getting back into the game we can forgive him for it, but it still happened. Just enjoy our good run brother, we will need both to sustain our form.

31 Dec 2017 03:36:46
Sorry but to say robertson is not very good is one thing, to say the young lad is 'simply not good enough' after a few months with us id just wrong. Liverpool has developed a culture of abusing players for the sake of it.

31 Dec 2017 08:36:29
Robertson is a steady player, who is doing his job.
I just think some fans like to target the next potential scapegoat.
The lad came from low league scottish football, having been released from Celtic as a kid. That proves he has heart and determination to succeed.
I think he will improve and is good enough to be in our squad.

31 Dec 2017 09:38:12
Spot on, AW esp. on your last statement. IMO, some players can't seem to do a darn thing right in the eyes of many as they are still being implicitly punished for whatever errors they may have committed in the past. Some don't believe a player can improve and get better. Moreno, Karius a few others are still being punished for the errors they have made in the past even tho, they have been solid since then and have improved. It's like they are deemed to be irredeemable and incapable of learning from their mistakes. If that was the case, the likes of Lallana, Hendo, Can, Moreno, (all improved under Klopp) would have been gone cos they were not good enough until Klopp arrived. This is what is killing the modern day fan today.

30 Dec 2017 23:36:19
One thing on the mane debate at the moment. Id say Salah isn't much quicker than him, not stronger, and his finishing is probably on par. It just seems that Salah has that desire to get in behind and and know how to time his run and get on the end. Mane seems to have lost the confidence to try and get in behind. I appreciate last year he was better at picking up the ball and running with it, but in our style, with firmino dropping deeper, mane should watch Salah and try and emulate it from the left. Imagine adding a mane of last season to the current attack!

Believable2 Unbelievable3

31 Dec 2017 00:47:21
I know what your saying but I think he's just going through a rough patch, he'll soon be back to himself imo.

31 Dec 2017 01:44:09
One thing that seems to be a factor is last season he always wanted the ball, always on the show, always making runs in behind. now thatā€™s Salah and Mane seems to walk after passing it rather than looking for the give and then making the run for the return.

Iā€™m sure heā€™ll come good in time but weā€™ll need him to with Coutinho likely to leave soon. Weā€™ve looked a lot better with Coutinho on left wing and I didnā€™t expect that.

31 Dec 2017 09:17:19
Mane played on the right last year and has moved over to the left this season. It's not a big change but for a winger moving at speed it is a change. Give him time to adapt and I'm sure we will see the best of him again. If reports are true Mane could be on the right against Burnley due to Salah having a knock. Also unbelievably this season on the premier league data Mane and Ox have been recorded sprinting faster than Salah. That came as a shock to me.

31 Dec 2017 09:41:49
Jayden, Mane played on the left through out his Red Bull days so tho it is a change BUT it is not a sea change either as he is familiar with the position. I do agree with you that Mane just needs to be given time to get things right as he is a true threat even with him just being on the pitch as he scares defenders.

Also, I am as shocked as you are about the fact that Ox and Mane sprint faster than Salah. I will say that Salah is believed to be faster with the ball at his feet in full go than he is w/ o the ball. Think of that, what you will.

31 Dec 2017 11:22:48
Br didn't know Mane had played Lw before so cheers for that. Just think if he had slightly timed his runs better yesterday then he would have got his 2 goals. I can def see what you mean about Salah running with the ball as he is rapid with it.
