Deadline day prediction . lucas (napoli), borini & coates (both Sunderland) all to go on loan . romero looks like the only one to come in . (not so sure What will happen to brad Jones and would like to see Johnson move on but no one unlikely to match his Liverpool wage)

Napoli bought defensive midfielder Diego Lopez.

Agree3 Disagree2

I believe PL rules state that teams can only loan a single player to a club in same league, so would have to be either Borini or Coates going on loan to Sunderland.

I'm probably wrong coop, but I think Ed002 mentioned that there can be special dispensation made if one of the deals is a loan to buy deal.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Right. Loan to buy deals provide an exemption between EPL sides but Sunderland would be looking at both players with a view to a loan but would not expect to have both on loan (if that makes sense). Most European leagues insist that players over a certain age going on loan must have a "to buy" clause - which gives them an exception as well.}

{Ed002's Note - Sunderland would be looking at both players with a view to a loan but would not expect to have both on loan (if that makes sense). However, there is an allowance that on a loan to buy basis there can be an exception - as there can with a goalkeeper with the agreementof the PL.}

Cheers Ed :)

I stand corrected! Thanks

{Ed002's Note - No problem. I think Coates will go but Borini will look to a deal in Italy.}

Anyone know who is Vice Captain now Agger has gone? Surely Henderson has to be in for a shout.

Believable11 Unbelievable2

Must be hendo

Agree6 Disagree2

100% Henderson. The way he has been playing after rogers told him he can leave, imagine what he would be like if he were to get vice captaincy.

Agree4 Disagree0

I think we need to give it to a cb to get them more vocal with more responsibility

Manchester City has one of the most influential players in David Silva and he does not have blistering pace, while I will say pace is great to have but it is much more important what you do with the ball when it is at your feet that counts. I'll say without apology that in my opinion Suso is one of the best passers at lfc along with gerrard and coutinho. I think he deserves a chance as he is quality just needs some game and exposure. Look at henderson how he turned heads and make some doubters believers. feel sad for the kid YNWA suso keep working in training fella.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

On that note I'd like to ask who would you drop from the team to let him play

Agree6 Disagree1

31 Aug 2014 23:42:16
Henderson is a box to box player. He is the best one we have in his position.

Suso is a creative attacking midfielder. He is not the best one we have in his position.

Not really the same.

Agree6 Disagree1

my opinion Suso is one of the best passers at lfc along with gerrard and coutinho
================
Henderson? He can pass the ball.
DS , his pass to Hendo for the first goal was special

Agree3 Disagree4

I'm not saying to drop anyone but it quite strange that the kid can't even make the bench. He is as talented as any on the LFC bench.

Agree0 Disagree3

He doesn't fit on the bench at the moment. Today we had Coutinho, Can, and Markovic all sitting out and next game add in Lallana and one of them will probably be out as well. We now have a big squad and I really don't see Suso even making the bench 90+% of the time.

Agree4 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 06:50:45
Countinho and Lallana will have to fight a place with Allen when everyone is fit.
Sterling. Sturridge and Ballo won't be dropped as theyare goal scorers

Agree4 Disagree0

He will not be making the bench regularly at LFC. We still have Lallana to come into the squad and when he does, it will be interesting to see who drops out of the squad. Markovic, Coutinho or Lambert?

I want to talk about Alberto Moreno:

For me, he was our man of the match against City on Monday. Thought other than his mistake, he was the most energetic and committed player on the field. I was dead impressed with the physical side of his game on Monday, but today showed that the tactical side of his game is also there in abundance. Commentators were quick to say on Monday that Moreno needs to "adapt to the pace of the Premier League". Well, if that today wasn't 'adapting to the pace' then I don't know what is! In the last 10 years, Liverpool's two good left backs have been Aurelio and Riise. Moreno looks like he has the composure and assurance on the ball of Aurelio, and the attacking confidence and (dare I say it) shooting ability of Riise. What sets him apart? Well he's flipping quick and be can defend competently. I'm going to get carried away now and say the lad is perfect. Oh and he's a looker too! I'm in love with Albi Moreno!

Believable20 Unbelievable1

31 Aug 2014 23:26:34
100% agree. It is arguable that he was partially at fault for the Aguero goal, but apart from that I thought he was first class. People talk about comparisons with John Arne Riise, but I think that doesn't give a fair account of the talent that Moreno has right now, and his potential in the future. He showed to me clearly today that defensive positioning is not as big of a deal as people made out prior to his arrival.

I haven't ever been this excited about a player, the team seem an extremely cohesive unit, bring on Villa!!

Agree3 Disagree1

Remember he left Townsend for dead and Townsend is pretty quick

Agree5 Disagree1

Something that stood out for me about what rodgers said about him, after not getting close enough to navas he told Moreno he needs to get tighter in the premier league, and then in the spurs game, he was on everyone, and it came up trumps, for when he dispossessed Townsend and obviously scored. And boy did he take it well.
If he learns everything else that quickly then he will develop even further!

Agree6 Disagree1

You are joking right? all 3 goals came down the left which somewhere along the line is part/mostly his fault his positioning in that game was awful he was good tonight but against city no way

Agree0 Disagree12

Looks a great player, not sure about looker though (sorry Alberto!)

Agree2 Disagree1

Yes quality, reminds me of Ashley Cole in his pomp.

Agree4 Disagree3

Not sure about MOTM against City, but definitely up there.
Can see why he was no.1 choice and so pursued all window. Seemed high when £20m reported, but that would now after two games seem fine. Absolute steel at £12m
Looks solid. Same with Manquillo

Agree5 Disagree2

Today showed why we were after him for so long, he looks the part and the future looks bright with him in it, got to say well done to the lad and long may he continue to play this well,

More than happy with today's result. Lots of positives, few negatives given it was our 3rd game of the season. Lovren appears to be worth every penny, Henderson is continuing to make his critics eat their words, Sterling looks world-class. Hope you all enjoyed the game. Rumour is that we're trying to bring in a keeper, have no name but can assume it's Romero from previous posts. Have a great evening all.

{Ed002's Note - He is injured.}

31 Aug 2014 20:12:08
Just got home from the match and haven't seen any replays yet but I have to say Dejan Lovren was absolute class today.
A clean sheet and a wonder goal from Moreno.
Daniel Sturridge was quality up front.
Gerrard had a great second half.
From memory I think Mignolet only had one save to make all match.
Our support as usual away from home was fantastic and the encouragement Ballotelli got throughout was immense. If that doesn't get you motivated, nothing ever will.
Great result today.

Believable12 Unbelievable1

Lovren's performance should have made everyone nervous at best. Between lovren and sakho there were 3 horrible mistakes that with a better team than spurs could have been goals. They got away with them today, but teams will be taking notice.

Agree2 Disagree6

31 Aug 2014 22:42:36
There were 3 moments of miscommunication between players that hadn't ever played together before, and really all in the first half - the balance had sorted itself out by second and Sakho had found his feet.

Agree11 Disagree0

Lovren made atleast 4 mistakes yesterday:

1. He went for the header that was meant for Sakho, which lead to the Chadli chance.

2. Dived in and missed Lamela, whose ball into the box was dangerous, but was well cleared by Moreno.

3. Dived in and missed Adebayor, who didn't make the most of the opportunity.

4. Miss placed a pass and Adebayor was off, but made a very good tackle in the box to rectify his mistake.

Of the 4 defenders who started, Lovren had the poorest games. Early days yet, but he seems very eager to please someone. I am sure as time goes on, he will get better and better.

Agree4 Disagree3

31 Aug 2014 20:07:55
Did anyone else find it weird not being nervous when Tottenham went on the attack? This is a back 4 that's never had a chance to gel so in a good run of games can you imagine how solid we could be?

The squad as a whole looks class! All the different options we have now is brilliant. I know top 4 is the aim but I'd be surprised if we don't push to be champions this season.

I honestly think its a shame how little BR rates Suso as he was very good in pre season and as a home grown player that wants to succeed at the club. He scored in two or so games and has immense talent, and even Ibe made the bench over him its very disappointing not saying Ibe ain't a good little player as well. Markovic brought in for 20mil and does what? the same as Suso not a smart buy but anyways good game today and apart from a few nervy moments at the back we could have crushed them buy lots more than 3 nil. YNWA

Believable1 Unbelievable19

Markovic is one of the most exiting highly rated players of his age in European football, we are battling on four fronts this year and although suso did ok on loan he hardly set the world alight did he, this is one of the posts I'm going to copy along with a few I saved after the utd game of people calling for Rodgers head after the defeat to city and at the end of the season I'm going to publish a book titled
Comments of a Helmet

Agree9 Disagree1

31 Aug 2014 21:05:00
Suso lacks pace, and Markovic has a loads of it. I think it is as simple as that. I feel sad that there is no room for Suso in our team, but who should that be for?

Agree9 Disagree1

Ooops I put utd instead of city, what a tool they'll never beat us this season

Agree4 Disagree0

Ha ha, well sais Jaydee. To say that Markovic does the same as Suso, based on the last twelve months, is stretching it a bit.

I've said before that Suso will find his level over the next couple of years and it won't be as a regular starter at a Champions league club.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Aug 2014 21:56:37
Cannot believe this post. Ohh yess. Its Brendened

Agree2 Disagree0

Obviously I'm in the majority with my opinion on this post is pants

Agree2 Disagree0

Jadee you should be the 1st hemet in the book for making the utd mistake lol

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't mind being in the minority in thinking that Suso has the potential to be a very good player. It does however appear that the club may well be letting him go which might be best for the lad's career.
I don't think a comparison with Markovic is a fair comparison as they are different types of players. He is more compatible with Coutinho.
Suso is more of a no. 10 than a winger, a position we are well stocked in.
He does lack pace but its not as if he has ever had it! Pace is a great asset but not a compulsory one!
He does have a great eye for a pass, a very good shot, is a good passer and a good dribbler.
Players like him have a tendency to drift in and out of games and develop later than other types. such as wingers.
But I think he could be one that slips the net and go on to be a top player.
I don't think it's fair to judge him too harshly for a loan period in a struggling side. Players generally become better for these experiences and very few set the world alight whilst on loan.

Lots of positives to take, Sterling looks like he is really developing into a class act, Henderson covered every blade of grass and was immense, Manquillo and Moreno were brilliant, Allen worked hard and showed again that he is an important player, Can looked superb when he came on, Balotelli and Sturridge looked like the beginning of a good partnership.

Great performance today, made up.

Thought everyone including the subs played really well. My man of the match, Alberto Moreno. Had said this before the goal and that just clarified my decision! The lad seems absolutely perfect for the way we play. Buzzing all over the pitch, always there to join in attacks. Really impressive.

Sterling also brilliant. Got to be the best under 20 player in the world right now. And probably one of the best in the world in his position in general. So gutted he didn't finish that effort off after ripping the Spurs defence!

Many good performances but for me they stood out. Henderson just went about his work as he always does, Manquillo looked solid. Balotelli and Sturridge linked up well at times which was encouraging.

Early days yet, but I think we'll finish 3rd. Don't think arsenal have strengthened sufficiently, they need a striker because Sanogo is possibly the worst striker I've ever seen in the premier league! Man United fans harp on about the so called world class Rooney, Van Persie, Mata etc yet they don't seem to be able to play together! Then again, they thought Kagawa was better than Coutinho and Adnan was better than Raheem! Think we've proved today we're much better than Spurs and I think Everton will struggle this season. Man City and Chelsea certainly the ones to beat!

Believable14 Unbelievable0

Nop point talking about the mancs. Burnley and MK Dons is their level at the moment.

Really positive performance today IMO. Decent debut for mario and could of bagged a few.
Sterling was really impressive but shame about the awful miss, easy to laugh at when the game is already won.
Moreno was superb today and the standout performer in a excellent Liverpool defence.
I am really impressed with the manquillo capture, looks to be a real find from the unknown, I had certainly had never heard of him.
Sakho and Lovren looked solid after a shaky start.
All the amazing talent left on the bench too, bodes well for the future.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

That was a whole new backline and is still a work in progress so sometimes, they`ll look shaky and/or make mistakes atimes. All in all, I chuffed about the result because I would have taken a point at KO BUT really happy w/ the boys today.

Credit to joe Allen today. Did a lot of the dirty work. Never backed down from a challenge; he struggles in many 50/50s but he never backs down.

Also, credit to Balotelli. I think the Liverpool way will slowly creep in and we are going to have a player on our hands. He worked really hard today.

Can't wait to see Lallana thrown into the mix. Would like to see him rotated in and out with Allen. Or when we go with 1 striker. We have a plethora of options!

Patience is needed with our back line. Our most experienced player with the team is sakho; three new guys and we kept a clean sheet. Moreno was a steal.

Great win. Keep it up fellas bring on next week!

Believable14 Unbelievable0

Agree about Allen, great ball retention and workrate, always. Wait until we draw a game though, then all the muppets will be on here slagging him off and blaming him for it.

Successful teams need players like this in the side, especially away from home.

Allen does all the dirty work and we need players like that who do all the dirty work w/o complaining or moaning. However, he struggled atimes today BUT he always gives his best and we should all applaud his determination and dedication to our cause.

Great game. Clearly the best team won. The Lovren-Sakho partnership has started off well. Moreno was impressive. Henderson was a commanding force in the midfield, and Sturridge the usual threat toscore from any forward position. What really excites me is to have this starting eleven and still have Coutinho, Lallana, Markovic, Lambert, Can and Skrtl on the bench when the need arises. A depth we have not seen for quite a few seasons.

Believable15 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2014 18:05:27
Very impressed with ballotelli today! Great attitude, not selfish or any sulking as such! Yes he missed a few half chances, arguably more, but he got the chances. He's not going to lack confidence let's be honest. He seems, so far anyway, to be fitting in to the Liverpool way! Some of our play today was tantalising.
And what a goal by Moreno, take a bow son!

Believable6 Unbelievable2

31 Aug 2014 17:46:27
Skrtel plays the first two games of the season and we look shaky defensively, conceding 4 goals in 2 matches.

Lovren and Sakho play alongside each other and we keep a clean sheet against a side that scored 5 goals in 2 matches prior to today.

If BR insists that Lovren should play left CB with Skrtel right CB and Sakho as sub after this, I will be worried - and I have not once questioned Brendan Rodgers at all!

Lovren and Sakho should be first choice CB partnership.

Believable11 Unbelievable0

Good point however, I think we defended well as a team today w/ players tracking back and holding their positions hence, plugging all passing lanes which made it difficult for Spurs to hurt us. But it does feel good to FINALLY have a defence that plays as a unit and communicate effectively w/ a desire to NOT concede.

Agree3 Disagree0

So Lovren and Sakho didn't look shaky today? I must've been watching a different game then.

Granted we kept a clean sheet, but a couple of times in the first half they were all over the place, and Sakho's distribution was, and has been, ropey to say the least.

I'm not saying that they won't end up being a great pairing, but they need a bit of work.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Aug 2014 23:17:16
Alan Measles they were actually very good. One breakdown of communication was troubling but they defended very well together. Sakho may have been a little poor on the ball due to lack of match sharpness but the defensive shape was excellent today, credit to all four defenders there.

Agree1 Disagree0

Whilst I would prefer sakho and lovren to be our CB partnership, they were far from being a good partnership yesterday.
And to suggest that we only concede or would concede if Skrtel is playing just goes to show how ridiculously blinkered we can be to support our own arguments!
Centre halves should NEVER get beaten by a long straight ball like we did on at 2 occasions today nor for the pass for Aguero's goal. Once is poor, any more is amateurish!
These mistakes presented Spurs with 2 one on one chances that they failed to take. So the clean sheet was not because we defended well, nor because Skertel wasn't playing!
So let's stop the bashing of one of our players when there is no necessity to do so!
Skertel is actually a very good player. He has his faults like most, but he is a solid player and I would be more than happy to have him in our squad.
I can't believe we are seeing this Skertel bashing when he didn't play whilst at the same time commending a player in Lovren who made basic defensive errors for the 2nd game!
I'm a big fan of Lovren, but as I mentioned. most have faults!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2014 17:12:36
Great win'
3-0 and.ballotelli's not yet.match fit and firing as too sturridge who has yet to hit his strike. Midfield allen and Henderson.good games, can was very good when.on. Gerrard.though converted a penalty has yet.to show why his name is on the sheet( needs to improve his passing and if that's off atleast put a shift in and track your man')
Defense yes shaky but wasnt it a clean sheet? Sakho just needs a run of games for confidence and an understanding with lovren. I hope he gets the chance because he's far.better than.skittles and they could prove an excellent pairing. Mignolet is worrying. He has a nervous moment atleast every game, had a great save but there's no reason from him improveing to be good enough. If he.puts the hardwork in and extra hours in training he could become an excellent.goalkeeper. The work needs to be put in this season.
We move onto the next game and we have the top class lallana to come into the team and were not even at 60% of how we can perform

Great result today. I think sakho and lovren is the way forward. they were litlle bit shaky in first half but then in the second half the became solid. sakho needs some game time these were his first minutes. I am impressed how they dealt with adebayor who is strong. we always had problems with strong and tall strikers. our set piece defending was also superb(no skrtel grabbing the shirt). moreno is class but it was known to anyone who wacthes la liga. sterling is our new star in the making. manquillo strong and solid, litlle bit shaky on the ball but tried hard. balo had two great moves(backheel to danny, and turn aroun kaboul, kept the ball well, but tried to impress to hard. sturridge was superb, gerrard was good but gave couple of balls away. allen played ok but I know he can be better, hendo is becoming key part of our squad, can and markovic looked lively when they came on.

Its been 2 good years, I have seen our RB making a successful tackle. Our Full Backs were brilliant today.
Defense as a whole with 3 good games coming in Septemeber would be ready for the CL campaign.

Agree6 Disagree0

Mandzo, no Skrtel shirt grabbing, correct it was Lovren but no-one mentions it, strange that.

Agree2 Disagree2

It was 1 games Alan; Skrtel is done it too long, far too consistently to have actually made a reputation out of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Manquillo made the most interceptions and tackles combined than any other player in the Premier League this season. Solid.

Agree3 Disagree0

Shame that Johnson will just walk back into the side once he is fit. If I was Flanno or Manquillo, I would be really p***ed. Today both Moreno and Manquillo showed how full backs are actually supposed to play, they covered so much of ground allowing the 2 strikers and sterling to play central and run at the spurs center backs. Well done to the Spanish bros, BR should play them when fit and just chuck Johnson's stupid contract down the drain.

Agree8 Disagree0

The realAG, we will see, its just some people are very selective when criticising or praising actually to back up their own views. In skrtels case his shirt pulling has been well publicised and I think therefore pounced on by some. By the way not criticising Lovren (or defending skrtels shirt pulling) who I think will be a good signing for us just putting my observations out there.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2014 22:02:11
Alan

Skretel is a very poor defender. That's a fact. he does score some goals and that's it. saving his life at the club

Agree0 Disagree2

If BR is as ruthless as we think, he`d better let GJ know that he will have to work hard for his plae otherwise, the fans (like myself) will have none of it. Moreno and Manquillo have been great thus far and Iwould be gtted to see Manquillo dropped for no reason other than the most rediculous clause ever written in a contract. Thanks, Rafa, the genius! Lol!

Agree3 Disagree0

I've been quite impressed with Manquillo. He looks quite solid, quick and like most full backs, he's got a good engine. He has dealt with both Tadic and Chadli running directly at him really well. This is the most impressive trait, as It's this that modern full backs seem to struggle most with, so full credit to the guy.
Lets hope he gets the chance and is able to keep it going.
He does not to cut out these silly late tackles though, he's putting himself at the mercy of a 2nd yellow.
I have really lost patience with GJ whose effort levels don't deserve the shirt.
And as a previous posts suggests. I'm with Alan on the Skertel issue. He is not a poor defender, far from it. The shirt pulling is an issue and a couple of penalties away from being damn annoying. But the fact is that he has recently, with one exception gotten away with it. This erm. "close marking!" may perversely have saved us a few goals.
So this cheating is no different to Suarez's form of cheating, yet very few held it against him. As Alan pointed it with Lovren, it appears it is the name of the person committing the error that makes it worth criticism and not necessarily the error itself.
It is a good point about it being that Skertel does it constantly, but the fact that it hasn't cost us should temper the criticism if it's results that concern you.
If it's the morals of it being a form of cheating then that let's not be selective about who is criticised for doing it.

Some great performances today all over the park and shows a better squad depth than we have had for best part of 12 years . Jordan Henderson is a class act in my opinion and it's nice that he is developing into a future captain of the club and I believe that if he keeps progressing then We can really begin to challenge on all fronts . I was also nice to see the positive side of mario today also

Excellent win and brilliant performance.

Sturridge looks 100 times better with a target man upfront. He loves to play deep and worked perfectly.

Sterling the very best at the tip of the diamond.

Can looked awesome and So does Hendo and Allen.

Moreno is my fav signing. He is such a hard working player. works his socks off. Would be adored by the kop.

ED01, You could start loving Moreno. Gem of a player.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Agree Boom but I think Gerrard is our weakest link now. Would love to see Can start a few games there and use Gerrard from the bench in a more attacking role. Can looks to be perfect for that role and should be used now to get experience before the Champions League

Bit premature that, lallana hasn't played and can and markovic have made a couple of cameo appearances, I think ill give it 10/20 games before I make any judgments but I agree he's a class act

Like others, very sad to see Daniel Agger leave. He is a true gentleman and class act. Rejected offers in recent years from top clubs because he loved being at Liverpool. Insisted he would only go back to brondby and has taken a massive pay cut. Good on the club too for not looking to offload to highest bidder. Shows some players see more to the game than money and lights. He has been a great servant of the club and will be missed.

Nothing wrong with the defense, after settling into Sakho and Lovren were brilliant. Communication was an issue at the start but I think overall we were great defensively.

Moreno quieting all of the defensive doubters today, he was brilliant in all areas today.

Sterling was a maverick today, too good to believe at times.

Also, so far Balotelli has shut me and a lot of my colleagues up. Showed excellent attitude, although there was no goal he did a fantastic job for the team.

Massive result, massive performance. Very happy with our win today, and a clean sheet, didn't expect that! It will give us a lot of confidence for the near future plus a very needed 3 points and the edge over spurs. Still things to work on but always easier to improve when winning - especialy defensively, too many balls behind our defenders and into the box - we should make it harder to get so close to our box. And we must be more clinical with our chances because not every team will give us so many and not every referee will give us these penalties. Gerrard a bit of a weak link, Sakko needs more confidence. I don't think we will keep many clean sheets but I am sure Balotelli will score as well as SAS. Sterling was amazing but Henderson gave a fantastic assist second time this year and played great. Really impressed with him.And of course what a great goal from Moreno. Huge boost of confidence for him.

Only mesing mate. He was good today though wasn't he?

Believable9 Unbelievable0

I reckon Smith could've to be fair. He has a cracking shot on him.

Fair play to Moreno though. He was excellent today. I really can't fault anything he did excluding the little shirt pull. He was 'outstanding' as Rodgers would say.

Balotelli also put in a great shift. He was helping out at right and left back on occasions and kept a very cool head even after the Dier horror challenge. He got into some great positions. As Bill Shankley said, "sure Rodger Hunt misses a few. But he gets in the right place to miss them". The goals will come and he and Sturridge linked up very well.

Gerrard was shaky as I predicted but he came through it and converted the penalty excellently.

I am of the opinion that Henderson should come back to support Gerrard and rather push Allen forward or use Lallana instead. We do not really need a 'defensive' midfielder

Believable1 Unbelievable5

We don't need a 'defensive midfielder' when we attack teams the way we do exposing our defence thus conceding goals as a consequence?

Come on.

Agree3 Disagree0

Gerrard needs help shielding the back four. I would prefer to see Can there with him thus allowing Hendo to get forward a bit more. Great to see some quality on the bench for a change. Markovic, Lallana, Coutinho

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't need a defensive midfielder is a poor statement. You can't out attack every team! And against tougher opposition, 4 at the back, 1 holding midfielder and still place for 5 more attacking players.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2014 11:39:07
Edd001 surely if we bring in another GK, he will be.top class? I've watched romero many.times and he's a poor goalkeeper, awful distrubution( and slow), doesnt.command his area, can't play a sweeper role if we play a higher line, makes silly mistakes and.doesnt make some of the saves he should. If he's not great and playing second fiddle to mignolet what really is the point. He won't suddenly push mignolet to save with his feet for example. i'm very surprised we havnt enquiried about cech which makes me think the purse strings are now closed on Rodgers.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Well said mate. I really do not think Brad Jones is the one who needs replacing, its Mignolet who imo has simply not improved his distribution or with the ball at his feet. Jones is a solid no.2 who does not kick up a fuss due to lack of playing time. In Mignolet's case, even the most hardcore fans of his would admit that for LFC to challenge for the premier league and the UCL, we need an upgrade and that too a significant one. Simply being a good shot stopper is not the mark of a top keeper, especially for a side that likes to press high up the pitch. U need your keeper to be a sweeper as well, and able to direct throws and kicks to the front men accurately, which Mignolet is simply not capable of doing.

Ed's, I have been reading pages of banter trying and see a lot of posts implying Sakho is not liked by BR and that is why he is not being picked to partner Lovren.
Surely this is nonsense as we paid a huge fee for his services and although I'm not sure about his ball skills he is a quick strong defender.
Is he really not part of BRs first choice centre backs for this season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have explained my view on the subject.}

I said yesterday if Skrtel is not fit for the match today and Rodgers goes with Toure instead of Sakho then all we done is wasted a massive amount of money on Sakho's transfer fee and wages.

Sakho being left footed can play right centre back as per his days at PSG so if Lovren is preferred at left centre back then there should not be any issues with picking Sakho.

Let's see who starts today.

I readily admit I am no footie expert but does anyone out there feel we still need a Mascherano style player who will help to lock out the game when we are up and coasting? Stevie is magnificent in this position but with age etc would it be best to get in a die-hard defensive midfielder who will put his body on the line for the last 20 mins? Or when we come up against a Man City someone to defensively press the likes of Silva & Jovetic who make runs in from angles?
Whilst I love our all attacking style of play, sometimes I feel, especially after the Crystal Palace game last season, that we could do with a fresher sharper defensive midfielder to come on to to help close the game out. Especially with the amount of games we have this season.
Someone mentioned that Can can do this but that would be playing him out of position? Someone like Song on loan would be a good recruit?

i know Can is young but he does have experience that belies his age, he has champs league experience and 1st team experience in germany, so I think he has the experience to start games for us, without LS we can't believe we will win every game by out scoring our opponents, so we can't be clever or have the luxuary to play the likes of lucas or allen, Can should be starting as cover for stevie, he could play just in front of stevie or by his side as 2 holding def - mids, and with Cans height and strnght and agility he could protect the back 4 better than stevie, then he can pass to stevie to play them long passes he's so good at, stevie might not have the legs but Can does, so really in my opinion there's no reason why he should not start ahead of the likes of lucas or allan, plus the more games he gets the better he will become,

Eds,

I've read a number of reports suggesting that Sergio Romero's agent is now in the UK, and that a meeting between himself and LFC representatives will take place later today or tomorrow to thrash out a deal. Do you have any more information on this? Don't really know much about the Keeper, but I do hope that he'll provide Mignolet good solid competition.

{Ed002's Note - I can assure you that his agent is not in the UK at this minute but I have no idea what he is planning for tomorrow.}

He would be a much more solid back up to mignolet than jones was, even though jones has been a great servant to the club. Who knows he might even displace mignolet as he has been shaky for a while

{Ed002's Note - So what did Jones do wrong last season?}

Not much because he hardly played any games, but look at his record and he has conceded almost every time. It was obvious we have needed a better back up keeper and clearly the management at the club sees that especially with the return of CL.

Clearly a new keeper is a priority given that the window closes in 48 hours-ish and we've done naught about it yet. Makes sense to me.

Played three FA cup games and only losing one with our shaky defence last year I think he deserves a crack to some more game time to be honest! And not just because he is an Aussie but also because I do not trust that Migs is anywhere near his best nor is his best anywhere near good enough at the moment for what we need. I would of preferred to hold onto Reina but he burnt his bridge.

That's our main problem. We look for a back up GK, Instead we need a first choice.
Spot on with Ed01.
After watching Courtius, Migs elder is million miles behind him.

Ed002 how much have Liverpool spent this summer in agents fees? If you don't want to give an exact amount then maybe answer if it was between £0-5m, £5-10m, £10-15m or £15m+

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to get in to this.}

Hi Ed002

Is it true that Rojo's 3rd party issues still have not been sorted out and that UTD will not be able to make use of him untill those issues are resolved?

{Ed002's Note - Try the Manchester United page please.}

Hi eds,
Two questions;
Would you guys consider having a page/tab for a Liverpool face value ticket exchange?
Also was looking forward to that second part on formations Ed002 mentioned, is this up? Had a look around not sure if I was looking on the right pages.

Cheers

{Ed002's Note - (a) The worry would be "fake" sales as far as I see. I think we need to avoid that. (b) Remind me in a few days - I have been real busy just recently.}
