Suso with another assist tonight as Almeria beat Valencia 1-2!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nevermind, got it! 1 goal, 4 assists in 10 games for Suso. that's pretty good!

Assaidi scored a belter last night weird the way he came to Liverpool bearly played hopefully he gets a run a games put his price up or even keep him if the lad impresses

Believable0 Unbelievable0

BR plan is to keep him that's why he was loaned to a prem team, FC Twente and feyenoord were after him also.

Remember if we get Europe next season we will need the bodies.

Personally against Arsenal I would not change things all too much. I would have Stevie, Lucas and Henderson on. All battling with Wilshere, Ramsey, Ozil, with Henderson or Gerrard pushing up on our attack. I would have Moses on the right, his muscular build would not bother Sagna but would give Gibbs a hell of a day. Suarez on the left, same again, his trickery and pace would be more effective against the less mobile Sagna than against the quick feet of Gibbs. Then our Danny up top, putting pressure on those CBs who have shown they make mistakes under concentrated pressure. Koscielny and Mertsacker are both superb ball winners in the air but struggle against intricate or fast feet.
Got to be Johnson at RB for me, has the pace to defnd against Gibbs, Ozil and co, Toure and Skrtel CB because Sakho jumps out too hastily, something Ramsey and Ozil would take advantage of. Toure would dominate the strength side on Giroud
LB is Cissokho for me, strong enough to fight Sagna all along the flank, and whomever of the Santi-Ozil-Ramsey-Wilshere quartet attack down there, pace enough to hurt on the Counter, allowing Suarez to drift inside.

I think I have been thorough enough there, although an early heavy challenge on Wilshere tends to keep him quiet too, but that's dirty tactics, dirty tactics that help us get a result but a bit below the belt no doubt.

Any thoughts guys?

Countinho over Moses. We need ccreative spark in the middle or else we would be watching the skills of Ozil and carzola like monkeys.
Henderson would press up and high and get the ball, and then what?. we need to unlock their defence.
countinho and suarez either side would eat them completly. They ll probably forget Football.
I could see suarez scoring.
3-1 for Liverpool

I hardly care what wilshere or ramsy would do with us. All I know is With countinho sturridge and suarez we would suerly score goals.
We need to score one more than them. we will not win this match with defensive approach, neither they play long balls, 2 at the back is enough
We are leaking goals with 3 at Back, so what's the point? let's go out and attack

Agree0 Disagree0

Henderson would make good use of the ball like he as done for sometime now. Didn't we score four with him in that position on sat. Henderson away from home is a must in this side. Harry Scousser you crack yourself up time and time again. Coutinho needs to earn his place like the rest.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would name an unchanged side against arsenal.
The side clicked and the way we were set up would probably be the way we should set up against arsenal as we'll.
I understand why everyone wants coutinho to start but chucking him in at the deep end in such a big game after a medium term injury would be wrong IMO.
Arsenal will be going for the win, they will press us high up the pitch and the likes of Ozil will be dangerous. That's why I would stick with 3 at the back with Lucas holding. That will leave us plying a counter attack game against there useless defence that's always out of position and too high up the pitch. Henderson will be trying to win back the ball all over the middle of the park, he will get it a few times and arsenal will be all over the place so a counter attack with SAS leading and Stevie and hendo providing could prove to be fruitful for us. I would have coutinho on the bench as an option but I would rather use a sterling or a Moses that will use raw pace to exploit the gaps arsenal always leave.
I make it sound easy but it will be a tough game. I would take a point now. But let's see how it goes. This looks like a high scoring game, both arsenal and Liverpool have it in them to win or lose against anybody. 2-2 maybe? But I wouldn't bet against it being a stupid score like 4-4 or 7-2 or something.

Agree0 Disagree0

The key to winning this game will be Lucas's performance. He has his detractors and doubters on this site but I for one believe he will show his true worth this weekend against world class opposition. Enrique to start ''if fit'' is a must in my opinion, he is by far the best option we have down the left and has proven himself, when on form, to be a world class player. Gerrard and Henderson to get tore in and no doubt the ''SAS'' will do the business up top with a possible cameo for Coutinho. From a ''footie''point of view, could be the game of the season, one which we are well capable of winning, can't wait!

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy you say you wouldn't change much but you changed our formation witch is huge it will be the same team that played West Bromwich our best performance yet and people think things will change seriously where is the sense it will be very same eleven unless injuries come in to tact

Mighty Reds

You just wanna got at me, don't you?. You don't read my post at all.
Did I say we should go with 4-3-3. with lucas, gerrard and hendo in the middle?
Whats your problem mate?
ANd what's this countinho should earn his place like rest?
Does messi, ronaldo earn their place like rest?

Agree0 Disagree0

So Harry you slate Henderson and is use of the ball. But that's fine because you said it. As I said you tickle me.

I don't see Coutinho starting, he will be rusty and out of sorts. We need Moses Suarez and Sturridge to run their defense ragged then bring Coutinho on with 20-25 mins left.
With Flamini out and Arteta banned it will be a good game for him to come back, just not from the start, too much pressure on someone who hasn't played in a while in a very important match.
We need Henderson, that's a given, his work rate and stamina will mean he pushes the Arsenal midfield all game, never giving them time to settle. After Lucas I would say Henderson is our most important midfielder for his game.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would stick with the same team. Obviously away from home rather than 2 CM being allowed to go forward as per West Brom, I think two will hold to form a 5 with the 3 center halves to limit the space for Arsenal to pass the ball.

Will probably only see one of the full backs pushing on at one time again to give us numbers against Arsenal passing.

I think Henderson will start due to his engine to help get numbers forward in counter attack situations. With Coutinho coming on after 60mins if needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

It would be stupid to change the team around in my opinion. Cout will have to earn his place back he isn't as good as messi therefore I don't think the two are comparable. If he's on the bench as well as Moses if we fall behind then we have some good subs to make an impact and hoepefully score. We looked solid against west brom except for the penalty.

Who knows what will happen hopefully we win! {Ed002's Note - I assume that Cout is not a typo.}

Agree0 Disagree0

BR will park the bus at the emirates and try to get arsenal on the counter attack, that's the way he set the team up last season at the emirates and I can't see him trying to mix it with arsenal at the weekend

Hello all, haven't posted in ages but in the buildup to Arsenal this weekend I'm really interested to hear the thoughts of everyone who reads this. My main question is do you think we stay with the same 11 as we had v West Brom or slot Coutinho in? I'm of the opinion that we stick with what performed so well last weekend and bring Coutinho on in the 2nd half or not at all if we're winning. Should be a great match and I look forward to your replies. I'll be back on the site more regularly moving forward, thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd add Coutinho in a front three with Suarez and Sturridge (This can only improve the team, obviously they'll interchange positions at all times) keep the same midfield as that against West brom, and revert back to 2 cb's. It might be wise to keep the same team against Arsenal like the team we had at West brom, but after that they really should look to revert back to our original formation

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh and Enrique must come in for Cissokho for the Arsenal game

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we will be pressing continuously throughout the game putting arsenal under pressure, so I would start with the same team with Hendo who does it very well and deserves his place if we need to to later, introduce Coutinho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same eleven with little man on the bench after all he's only back from six weeks this will be probably our hardst match

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I think we will stick with the same team maybe Enrique for cissoko but Coutinho will probably be on the bench and come on to help us get back in the game if needed.

Sorry about the late reply Bennet Jr. You asked about wether we are any better at defending set peices. I for one am still wary anytime the opposition have a corner or a freekick in a menacing position, however I do think there has been an improvement and that we just need to be more consistent. What do you think about our current defence setup at the minute?
I think it is only a matter of time before agger gets back into the starting lineup, perhaps at the expense of sakho.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There has been an improvement at set pieces but we look much more vulnerable in loose play now. I agree with the Agger comment.

Liverpool have not given up trying to sign Alonso, there is still a good chance..

He likes the idea of living in London but obviously still loves the club..

Lets wait and see..

Cheers

Oh dear. another midfielder. we need a cdm and another forward. He'll be way to expensive and he's old now!

Agree0 Disagree0

We should stay the hell clear of Real Madrid. They can keep Alonso, Benzema and anyone else that crops up.
Don't call us, we'll call you!

Agree0 Disagree0

He is a DM now changed his game at Madrid he would be the difference sign him up

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't get my head around that one. He was a great player but he's old and on massive wages

Agree0 Disagree0

One of my all time favourite players for Liverpool. He's great to watch, a perfect example of a modern footballer. I would love to see him back.

But.

Would it make financial sense?
Would he hold back Allen, Henderson or Lucas?
I'm not sure, a case of my heart saying yes and my head saying no.
I will trust Brendan's judgement on this.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we could get him it would be great. He's 2 years younger than Stevie and would add depth and quality to the squad. We are way too reliant on Stevie in the middle and need to bring in further players to strengthen. Allen is not good enough for us

I think you mean that the club is interested and there is a chance, but please let this be true! Always believed Macca but Alonso has always been one of my favourite players! Very unique and think his style of play means he has years left in him. I know I have a massively biased opinion on him, but can't think of a player I'd rather see back in the red shirt! Sorry but miss going to anfield and watching Alonso's passing, similar to watching scholes play. Just an amazing thing to watch passing of that calibre, sorry for seeming too much in awe!

Thanks Macca this is great news hope we resign him he is still a world class player and can be for a few more years look xavi. Any other news on potential signings or Suarez's situation?

Oh and thanks again Macca for the info.
How are you enjoying the season so far?

But Alonso is a CDM haha? He used to sit deeper than Mascherano a lot of the time. Just because he has the positional sense to dispossess the opppsition calmly and without a 12ft lunging tackle does not mean he isn't a CDM. He would easily knock Gerrard or Lucas out the team. For the last 4 years he has been the best midfielder on the planet. He even ran the Spain national team. I'd love him back. The only question is how long will it take for him to get fit enough for the premier league? He is just like Pirlo. Not very mobile, but so far ahead of everybody else tactically and positionally that it doesn't even matter. Cheers for the update Macca!
