Can't believe Gerrard is out again I hate to say it and I hope to god I'm wrong but I think he is finished just seems to be one thing after another now I really hope I'm wrong hate to see him go out like this

Mat.lfc

I don't whether he's finished or not but don't worry, we can always groom another Gerrard or recall Shelvey from his loan spell......eyes roll.
I certainly hope Stevie's career doesn't end like that, anyway.

Dont thing he should have played a full game last time out,and rumour has it thats why sammy lee was let go having said gerrard was finished.

30 Oct 2011 23:10:28
With Stevie and Carra out who will/has taken the armband? Only saw highlights of the match so didn't see who it was.

I assume it's Pepe, Lucas or Suarez could also have taken it IMO.

maka
YNWA JFT96

It was Reina.

Pepe, then lucas then agger in my opinion

you have got to give it to alan pardew. he's managed to get £41m for two mediocore players.

Yup and also invested a F**king lot in the squad. We at least spent that money from the Spanish blonde.

Abhi

If you've got to "give it" to Alan Pardew, that's your business....nudge,nudge,wink,wink.

You got to hand it to Kenny Dalglish for getting £50M for just one mediocre player.

dd

Enrique is mediocre?? i dont think so mate. RedTurk

Is this anonymous poster the same anonymous detractor who has been posting garbage of this type all weekend?

Red Owl

Mediocre!
Carroll is only 23 and has pressure on him but still he has got 2 goals in 2 starts! He was arguably the best player against West Brom! Dont get me started on Enrique, he is the best signing in the summer without a shadow of a doubt!
Red Chopsticks

You have got to give it to alex ferguson. he's managed to get to 2nd in the league with a team of mediocre players

30 Oct 2011 23:07:25
Its a shame for Stevie g at the moment i believe he can still give the club a lot but lets hope his luck changes. All the best in your recovery and hopefully back A.S.A.P.

I believe we have the squad to cope with his injury as we are very strong in midfield.

Ed there's a rumour that Gerrard could be out for 2 months. Have you heard anything about it? Thanks.

Spriggo {Ed002's Note - The reports that he is out for two months is speculation, but may subsequently transpire to be true. Await an announcement from the club.}

Ankle infections take time to heel. it affects scare tissue and weakens the joint. it would be around 3-8 weeks depending on the mass of the infection and rehab strengthening the ankle joint b4 taking part in active training sessions (would be my guess)

30 Oct 2011 22:47:45
EDS how long is gerrard out for? {Ed002's Note - We have to await an official announcement or report - until then it is speculation only.}

Reports are saying for 2 months or atleast 4 weeks due to am inflamed ankle? does ED01 have any info? {Ed001's Note - still no official confirmation, but I have been told that it is a bare minimum 4 weeks, more likely 6-8 weeks. Though it depends a lot on the person and how quickly they heal, but that was a medical opinion. Complications could set it back further and age and wear and tear on the ankle could also slow the healing process.}

He was spotted leaving hospital on crutches with his foot in a cast and a drip in his hand, est 2 months out, jimmybosun,

30 Oct 2011 22:36:11
Gerrard likely to be out for 2 months :(

Who said so big shot ? {Ed002's Note - {Ed002's Note - The reports are speculation. Await an announcement from the club.}

Gerrard was absent from Saturdays game due to an ankle infection. You've then googled 'Gerrard's injury' & presented us with all the headlines stating how Gerrard will miss 2 months of football at the start of this season. Wise up, pay attention & look at dates.

dd {Ed002's Note - {Ed002's Note - No, there have been developments but the reports that he is out for two months is speculation, but may subsequently transpire to be true. Await an announcement from the club.}

I googled myself & only found reference to the start of the season. I'm happy to eat humble pie & apologize to the original poster. Sorry chap.

dd

I googled myself too

Your a top man , I didn't mean to be off , it's just I would love that news. You got style kid. I tip my hat to your character .

I know its unlikely for a January window, but I'd love to see a striker, winger, pacey midfielder (box to box) and a centre back with potential but ability already too.

My choices/anticipations are:

Luuk De Jong (likely)
Adam Johnson (subject to circumstance)
Moussa Sissoko (depending on interest)
Dejan Lovren (depending on interest)

YNWA! (Adam)

Bad choice , I don't like that , do you actually watch the pool man ?

Sorry would you prefer:

Aguero
Goetze
Ribery
Chiellini?

Forgot we threw money about like sky blue mancs....

YNWA! (Adam)

We don't need Lovren, aside from that this is an accurate list. Still, there are some rumours that we are interested in a creative wondercid from the Bundesliga, the names of Gotze, Schurrle and Kagawa being tossed around. Quite unrealistic, but wouldn't mind any of the first two!

30 Oct 2011 22:08:41
whats happening with the stadium situation and is cahill on a free at the end of the season
{Ed002's Note - Refer to an earlier answer about the stadium. Cahill is available for free in the summer but will very likely move in January for a fee.}

Hope he moves elsewhere

30 Oct 2011 22:02:54
Read a stat today saying a player from barcelonas accademy has been in every champions league final since luis garcia in 2005.
I hope we have a bit of success like that from our own graduates in the near future. I know rafa started to revolutionise our academy and brought in a few of the people who made barcas so successful. So fingers crossed.
Would be great to "grow" our first team rather than buy them in. They always seem to mean more to the fans. Gerrard carra and now Kelly and flano. They always seem to have there hearts in it.

Roy was fuming yesterday due to the legitimate penalty. It's the most irate I have ever seen his Owl like face.
Funny how he never got that angry regarding the decisions given against us last year. Now you could say I'm paranoid but he is bezzy mates with Fergie, redknapp, allerdick plus has shares in talkshi**....
ultra red

I was watching his post match interview last night after a few jars and could've sworn hodgson's head was slowly morphing into graham taylor's turnip head...

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Definitely a penalty but if the same thing happened with a defender shielding the ball out for a corner, I doubt a free kick would have been given

Everyone clamoring that we need a Gerrard replacement, and I know that DC said we see Sissoko as his replacement, but I think we already have TWO ready-made replacements at the club (well, one's on loan) in HENDERSON and SHELVEY.

Both definitely look the business and I'm not entirely sure that we need a player like Sissoko what with our plethora of quality choices in central midfield, but he does look a cracking player!

Center midfield for the next couple of years: Lucas, Adam, Gerrard (only a couple, tops), Henderson, Shelvey, Spearing...

If Henderson were to play more centrally, that would require a right sided player. But I trust the King.

McSnuggles

Shelvey?! As a replacement for Gerrard?!
Nowhere near good enough, I'm afraid.
He's at the right 'Pool, at the moment. For me, anyway.

I'm a big fan of Shelvey. A run in the first team would show everyone what he's capable of. He's class

He's unlikely to get it, though.

I just think the southern press make me laugh and that spurs are a definite to finish in the top four i dont see it myself. They have some decent players but i see modric going in Jan. I think we will finish above them quite comfortably. And i think 3rd and 4th will be between us Arsenal and Chelsea.

By the way Cundy was a bit quiet yesterday.

Mighty reds

Kinda like the northern press makes us laugh, think we have a better squad than you tbh, and btw there its no way modric will be off in jan, regardless of what went on in the summer re that small team in fulham, tbh theres more chance of suarez going and I'm sure that won't happen

Strange season this one.
We have seen :
Man u 8- arsenal 2
Man city 6 man u 1
Chelsea 3 arsenal 5

And Liverpool playing fantastic pass and move football.
It must Be a great season for the neautals.
I would love us to be top of the table obviously but I am really enjoying my football this year.
So much more to talk about and having some great banter with my non Liverpool supporter mates.
Makes a change from some of the dire defencive football we have had to suffer over the Years, even Norwich are playing pass and move.

Is everyone else enjoying this season?

MIKEY

Yes its been fantastic mate. loving it so unpredictable.

Danny

What about Tottenham 4 Liverpool 0

That as well will not deny it. but that was just an off day for us

Danny

Can't say I enjoyed that one as much if I am honest haha
But like I said good for the neutrals :)

MIKEY

Hard to pick results - I am going crap in my tipping comp this season. Almost a lost cause this early on!

LIVERPRES

Add Tott-MAnC then, 1-5 if I am not mistaken?

I love all the bitching and moaning. One year ago we were 3-3-4 through 10 games, now we are 5-3-2. Thats a 6 point improvement. Nothing to sneeze at. Did people think this was going to be a one year and everything is great type of thing? Ofcourse it wasn't. Getting the team where we want is an ongoing process. We aren't there yet, but anyone who doesn't think we are in the right direction is out of his mind.

30 Oct 2011 20:11:41
Caught a glimpse of what I was hoping Carroll was going to bring us against West Brom. Got to say I enjoyed the performance and the goal celeb as well. We all know Luis Suarez is absolute class and if those 2 really click then for me that could be the best pair in the league.

Spriggo

I read they have 8 goals in the 10 starts together, seems to be working to me

30 Oct 2011 19:36:05
lucas levia had an outstanding game against west brom. he broke up moves and distributed the ball perfectly. he is turning out to be a outstanding player. disappointed with downing. on the whole , the reds played very well. last season we doubted our chances against the so called lessr teams. this year we are brushing them away with ease. pity about the norwich result.

Biggest change was we were able to play a higher line so he was closer to the opposition instead of trying to defend on his 18 yard box
Benefit of Agger and Skrtyl at the back I guess .

I agree about Lucas. I can't believe the improvement he has made. He has become one of our most important players and had another good game again yesterday. Downing's having a bit of a lull, at the moment, but he'll be ok.

Lucas' example should gives us faith for all the other players having a hard time now.

im sorry but im starting to disagree with people asking for better attackers we do a back up striker but if we had took our chances we would be well into the top 2 3 already weve hit the post ten times in ten games people moaned last season that we wernt attacking enough been too negative were taking it to teams yet people on here just come to moan moving from player to player to the KING himself hes brought more this season than any player hes bought hes an inspiration to many and all.....YES we shuda beat norwich but shudnt chelsea have beat QPR? or united should have put up more of a fight against city or who thought arsenal would have struggled so much at the start of the season last seasons top 5 will start to tire playing weekdays and weekends when europe gets to the end stages playing full squads when where playing in the cups and the league we have a good squad better yet a strong squad with the likes of suso and morgan coming through the ranks all i can see is good times ahead!

We will make no moves in January, unless Adam Johnson becomes available. That would be the only money spent, however.

It's probably worth suspending the 'Transfer rumours' part of this site now as this gentleman has kindly clarified LFC''s position.

...er, stadium news anyone?

linked players and chances out of 10 for january move:
a.johnson 5/10 unless city get a replacement in possible tevez di maria switch.

luuk de jong 7/10 playing well and would be avaible at a good price round 10-12m mark.

moussa sissoko 4/10 still on radar but unless major injuries expect a summer move

gaston ramirez 4/10 suggested by suarez looks a great prospect but his club dont need to sell.a summer deal possible.

so most likely in januray deals done for luuk de jong and a.johnson but will owners splash 30m required to buy them.

my thoughts are this by next season:
out:
cole
maxi
aurelio
aqualani
spearing
darby
kuyt

in:
luuk de jong for kuyt
adam johnson for cole
moussa sissoko for aqualani
gaston ramirez for maxi

squad would be:
gk:reina/doni/gulacsi/hansen
rb:johnson/kelly/flanagan
cb:carragher/skrtel/wisdom
cb:agger/coates/wilson
lb:enrique/robinson
cdm:lucas/sissoko/coady
cm:gerrard/henderson/adam
ram:ramirez/bellamy
lam:downing/a.johnson
st:de jong/carroll/suarez

young talented squad ready for champions league
DORSET RED

I honestly think Coady is the most talented youngster we have, would love to see him given the chance in the F.A cup if we don't get a top team draw.

KT!

Good squad mate but champions league is not guaranteed at all for next year. its going to be so close between us arsenal and totenham also chelsea.

Far from it. Arsenal back in the game & lookin really good. Conceding plenty & scoring even more. It's 4 spots with 6 teams competing ( Newcastle will drop away). It's gonna be a roller coaster. Great isn't it?

The Irish Rover

Agree in the most part but why would we sell Spearing? Great little player who loves Liverpool; gives his all when given the chance; and rarely does much wrong.

How many people here chose to be a liverpool fan, I didn't I was a liverpool fan before I knew what football was and i bet most people are the same.
As soon as your dad heard "its a boy!" it was decided. Some may be differant but most follow will have the family team.

I was born in wigan and have lived in area all my life so should i be a wigan fan?? probably, but only in the last 5 years I even discovered Wigan had a team in the first place. I love supporting Liverpool and I love our fan base all over the globe -McMenemy {Ed001's Note - unusually enough, it was me mam that decided it in my family, me dad is more of a motor racing fan, though he does favour Liverpool.}

After I came home from the hospital after birth Tommy Smith appeared to me (thank God I did not have a ball or he would have kicked me) in a vision and told me it was Liverpool after that I was converted.

There's no disrepect to Tommy he's my favourite Liverpool player, always gave his all.

Locked in at birth...

Ed001 your mum's a legend lol

Danny {Ed001's Note - she once had a bath live on TV with a bunch of Liverpool players, not sure that is the kind of thing a son should have to see his mother do meself! Teatime telly it was as well, I am scarred for life mate.}

Lol i don't think your mum will be happy at you revealing that.just don't tell her.Shame i missed it on TV :( lol

Danny {Ed001's Note - you missed nothing good mate, old people shouldn't be allowed on TV!}

Son of a Gunner - nephew to Spurs fan

Allowed to stay up very late with an LFC suppporting babysitter and watch Match of the Day or The Big Match with Jim Rosenthal.

The babysitter is the daughter of a perfectly blue / red split family.

To this day we exchange LFC themed Xmas presents - and she had never lost her belief that Ray Kennedy is in the top 3 LFC players of all time.

ED1 thanks for your time yesterday on a completely separate matter - much appreciated.

Looking forward to listening to all the very unlucky "we deserved a point" Bluenoses at work tomorrow

Lol. don't tell any of the over eds but your the best ed001.you need to be nicer to your mum.lol

Danny {Ed001's Note - I will make sure to tell them all that I am the best ed, I do that anyway ;o). As for me mam, you didn't have to put up with her!}

Lol would you mind getting me your mum's phone number? lol i bet she's lovely haha

Danny

Well I chose!

Dad didn't support a team so as a youngster I chose the winning team i.e. Liverpool.

Haven't regretted a single minute of it!

a question for the eds what is th reason behind spurs good form lately, is it the squad or the way the manager sets up the team ( tactics), couple of seasons ago they were battling relegation then they brought redknapp. Shed a bit of light please thanks. hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - they always had the players, but they weren't putting the effort in for various reasons under previous management. What Redknapp has done is to knit them together as a squad, tactically he has done nothing special at all. That is not what Redknapp is about, he is about getting players to play to their best.}

We were doing well under jol but comolli undermined him & stabbed him in the back, best decision levy made was getting rid of that French t**t, redknap is no genius he just encourages players to express themselves add in the fact we have a really strong squad, city & utd would find it hard to deal with amount of injuries we have

30 Oct 2011 17:55:13
So the realistic signings for Jan are:

Luke De Jong
Wilfred Zaha
Gaston Ramirez
Moussa Sissoko

Typical 6-7/10 players that you would think we would sign.

Potential great signings/links for players that would definitely take us to the next level since they possess goals and creativity and what we continue to dream about but will NEVER EVER happen are:
Adam Johnson
Eriksen
Hazard
Higuain
Hulk.

If we are serious about top 4 we must sign at least 1 player out of the 2nd list or of equal calibre. We just cannot rely on Suarez and SG alone.

Seydou doumbia

30 Oct 2011 17:53:58
hi eds do u think liverpool will spend the money like they did this summer? {Ed002's Note - Not in January. Summer spending may well reflect what happens regarding European qualification. The club are already going to be making a very significant loss for this year and the owners will not be throwing money around.}

Ed0002 again ur talking s**te {Ed002's Note - Go on, tell us what is wrong - and why don't you sign the post? There are three points in the message: (a) Liverpool will not spend as much in January as they did in the summer. (b) Summer spending will be the same whther or not the club qualify for Europe. (c) The business is going to make a loss this year.}

Ed002 why bother even replying?!

I'm just getting ready to have a dram of Dufftown 27yo 53.6% scotch, very rare but gorgeous...just like yourself!

30 Oct 2011 17:45:51
lets be honest are we better than man city manutd chelsea spurs an arsenal,in my opinion maybe only arsenal but they'd still pass us off the park am still not sure we will make the top 4 hope am wrong like.plus when we play the games at home were we think is a banker every1 in the crowd is so quite(YES I DO GO THE GAME)this helps other teams gain confidance an the fans start havin a go at the players.why dont we make every home game a flag day to pick up the atmosphere

(slating time by some blind fans on the way)

Arsenal can't seem to reatain possesion as good anymore, United are unusually open at the back, Chelsea RB, CB and DM positions are extremly weak.
Man city are the only team in this league who i wouldn't be confident of dominating.

KT!

Been to all the home games this season and it can be quiet. Having said that, the day Liverpool provides flags for the fans to wave is the day I stop going to games. We are Liverpool and we are much much better than that.

I didnt mean the club give out flags i no ours fans dont need that like other clubs like united an chelsea, would just like to go into every game like its a cup final or chmp league game we will not drop 1 more silly point at home.when are fans are up for it there is nothing like it world wide and every team will be very intimidated.sorry didnt sign the top 1.

kp

I think we proved a couple of weeks ago that we are better than ManU - I know it was only one game but they have been very fortunate this season to be in 2nd and we were clearly the better team.
I see Chelsea and City as the top 2 teams this year.
I don't see why we won't get 3rd or 4th this year - we have a great squad, playing great football. We are young, we still haven't gelled 100% and we dont have the extra Euro games to worry about. We won't win the league this year (nor will ManU) but I can see us being very tough to beat for any team.

Just for fun, name your injury prone 11 from the prem.

GK - ?
RB - Johnson
CB - Agger
CB - Vermaalen/King
LB = Aurelio
RM - Gerrard
CM - Harvgreaves
CM - Essien
LM - Bellamy
ST - Van Persie
ST - Torres

Anyone think of a keeper?
or a better team?

KT!

Chris Kirkland

JRG

Bale/Van Der Vaart?

Torres and bellamy are not that injury prone.i would reccomend johnathon woodgate instead of the dagger. he is a lt more injury prone.

Danny

It wasn't who's the most injury prone Danny, maybe subjective to injury would of been better wording.

KT!

Last season after 12 long years of battling for Liverpool Gerrard has his first major injury does not make him injury prone, I can't understand the constant sniping at Gerrard?

Also louis saha from everton

Danny

Mikel arteta,kieran Dyer,rio ferdinand,and for a goalkeeper petr cech

Danny

Craig Gordon The Sunderland keeper = very good at his job but if not injured involved in some injunction or legal issue that keeps him off the park

But our reserve keeper Michael Stensgaard retiring with an ironing board related injury is my favourite

BOILED ONIONS

Good call Boiled Onions.. Very good keeper

1 C. Kirkland.
2. F. Aurellio.
3. J. Woodgate.
4. L. King.
5. P. Degan
6. J. Cole.
7. H. Kewell
8. M. Johnson (City)
9. F. Torres.
10. L. Saha
11. K. Dyer.

Ledley King is brilliant and every time he plays is quality

He has never hid the fact he cant train.

He is similar to Paul McGrath a fantastic footballer and plays without the need to train due to his physical condition.

Woodgate is another one - naturally good bit physically inept - Real Madrid and their amazing medical staff couldntr get him right which is sad as he is naturally better anf more gifted than most English centre halfs, Carra included.

LFC fan since 1980, i dont like watching depressing dross that is being served up in the name of this club. Dalglish has no clue when it comes to 21st century tactics. we have spent massive on some above average players. the future of the premier league lies in finding the next Silva, Nasri, Mata, ect. not in the likes of andy carroll. Proper fans point out the faults not walk on blindly into 5th n 6th place.
----------------------
Proper fans support the team, especially when they are doing quite well, especially when most fans can appreciate what we've been thru in the past 12/24 months. There is someone who hasn't a clue tho, but it ain't KK. Have a look in the mirror.

The Irish Rover

Well we did find Suarez also. I agree with you in some ways, we do need another star player. Guys like Downing and Adam are solid players but we need someone else who keeps opposing managers up late at night worrying about how to deal with him. Hopefully we can get someone like that in January or next summer.

We need another goal scoring power house that is Seydou Doumbia!

30 Oct 2011 15:22:12
hi ed do u think we are leading the race to sign adam johnson? {Ed002's Note - What race?}

The January grand prix from maine road?

30 Oct 2011 15:11:17
Its all about Agger for me. When he plays we are so much more solid at the back. Carra hasnt started this season well and Skrtel just makes me nervous. Coates will take time but to me he looks to lack pace. Would be very surprised if we don't make a serious attempt to sign Gary Cahill.

I really dont understand the negativity about Carra and our defence.
Our back line have been as good as any in the PL and Carra have been the rock as always, yes he is a bit slower and yes he will make more mistakes with age, but he is still one of our best players.
Our problem is not at the back, with the exception of the spurs game , we have only let in a maximum of one goal per game, we kept 3 clean sheets, this is as good as any other team in the PL this year.
If you want to pick on and critise players in our team, there is a lot more candidates that play further up who have not done enough.
Roy

Coates lacks pace? Did you see him against stoke? he beat Etherington in a foot race quite a few times.

KT!

Carra a rock,come on lad,you having a joke,sit down,watch the matches he's played in,and watch closely...then take the liverpool born thing out of it,and ask yourself a question,is he a better defender than the 3 you mentioned.....NO

Coates is quality dont forget he is young and from South america not USA. England is very new country and EPL is very tugh place to be a good player. I think he will rock in Epl

Is Carra past it.... NO
Does Carra deserve to get back into the team automatically because he is Carra. No, not in my opinion...We kept a clean sheet for the first time in ages and looked comfortable at the back. Surely the reason for a strong squad is that if you miss out and your replacement does well... then you have to wait your turn... Thems the rules!!
jonnybarnes89-90

Coates would beat a lot of players in a foot race. Those long legs would be huge advantage in a race........over 12 inches.

Thats what has happened with carroll and henderson so i agree he needs to wait

Is Carra past it.... NO

===========================
We kept 2 clean sheets with Carra in the team, you can base we better off without Carra on one game and the fact that wba offered nothing upfront yesterday has something to do with it.
Agger is probably our best defender, then for me its Carra hands down, he reads the game far better that skertl and its way way too early for Coates.
Our defense is in good shape, we only conceded 10, only 2 teams conceded less goals than us, and 4 of the goals against us are in one dismal outing where everything went wrong.

hi ed just wondering is luuk de jong any good ive been watching him on youtube and to me he looks like a berbertov but youtube could make poulsen look like zidane wats your opinion of him and do u think he will fit in with our passing style of play? thanks {Ed002's Note - Please read through the earlier posts and use the search function to find the already extensive discussion on this matter.}

Kevin, Adam has set Suarez up with a wide free kick for a goal against Sunderland, same with Skertel from a corner against Bolton. He's hit the woodwork with a screamer, should be on 4 goals if he'd have taken the other pens which more then likely he would've stuck away. Still got 2 in Prem. And like i said he's looking fitter and more confident every game, always wanted it yesterday, never panicked with men around. Got to say top bit of buissness if you ask me at 7-8 mil. Ye we've hit bar from his delivery in the Norwich game so like i said, he's started to look like a Liverpool player now it seems he's growing into his role in the team and i, who'd rather look for the positives then the negatives in a player thought he and Lucas dominated the midfield yesterday, thats why we won at a canter along with our strikers who must be a real nightmare to play against and will only get better the more they play. Just be happy for getting through what was on paper a tough game that has made a top 4 finish no doubt in my mind now. Jonson dropped the 6.

Jonson - I think you are spot-on about Adam, I really rate this guy and think he has a left foot like a magicians wand. Him and Enrique are proving to be the signings of the season for me.

I do think Adam's reminds me a bit like Danny Murphy - they are bith goid passes pf the ball and deadly at set-pueces and they were both bought from I unfashionable teams for relatively small fees and I think because of this they are sometimes not as appreciated as the star players by the fans. I still remember Murphy being booed in a game at Anfield, he looked so dejected and sad. I honestly think that if Adam was Spanish or Italian and cost us £20m+ the fans criticising him now would be purring over him.

JRG

How comes you dropped the 6, butter fingers are we?. ;p
huddz red

If he was called Adamo or Adamez and had been bought from Athletico Madrid or Lyon for £20m the armchair pundits would be singing his praises. Same with Lucas he's Brazilian with an English sounding name if he was called Lucasi he'd be a midfield god.

I don't know how the stats ended up at the end of the game, but Adam had covered the most ground out ofboth teams by half time on the weekend. His fitness and work rate are improving.

hi eds,

Great performance yesterday, deserved the 3 points from a team who have been doing well recently.
Andy Carroll hopefully will get some confidence from that game due to scoring because his work rate is next to non and he gets nothing in return for it. hopefully will become more clinical after this.

Swansea are going to be no push overs. this is what im loving about this year, all the promoted teams are actually playing football with some decent players instead of giving past it players a final wage packet.

just a quick question how are you rating any of the loanee's out at the moment and if they are going to actually make the grade for liverpool ? {Ed001's Note - Shelvey is the only one I have had a chance to keep an eye on this season, he is looking good though, certainly looks to have a bit more about him than Championship level.}

That was not a great performance. that was job done with help from a very poor wba side

Just wanted to ask if anybody knows how our outgoings from the last transfer window are playing ATM. Not that I would particularly want any of them back just curious to see how the former reds are going.

The Team is Much better then Last 2/3 years. that time we depand too much on Gerrard and torres. when they are injured a draw will make us happy. but things have change now. its Look like a more as a team rather then few good individual player. we need 2 more top class player in then we can cope with any top 3 team in EPL.

we need a new right winger who wud u suggest

Aaron lennon. or take a punt on mcgeedy kev

Me. I'm sure I have a pair of old football boots somewhere...

Hoilett from Blackburn rovers, young got pace and shouldn't be to expensive.

I think all the players should be congratulated on yesterdays performance. Thought everyone tried their best. Adam looks fitter sharper, always wants the ball, lethal left peg. Downing started like a house on fire, gone a bit quiet in recent games but he's a strong character, he'll be back to that early season form in no time. Henderson even though i think he's more dangerous in the middle, he's more then capable doing a job for us on the right. Carroll, gave their centre halves problems all game, looks confident now always wanting the ball. Just goes to show that after all the stick he's had he still wanted to take the pen although no doubt in my mind it was write for Adam to take it. Suarez a genius of the highest order who has been targetted of refs now since Fergies comments. Not a single free kick in Norwich game when at least 3 or 4 should've been awarded to him. The ref in a great spot to see the pen yet chose to ignore it until the linesman so sense and gave what was albeit a weak one, was defo a pen, forwards tackle. We got beat at the same ground last season, a very good result and good performance. We dominated the game from start to finish and lookeds solid at the back. Was always gonna be a tricky game, they'd won their last 2 and after last seasons result probably thought they could make it 3. Let the pundits write us off, they love to do that but i'm more confident then ever that the team looks like we've started to play as one just at the right time. Special mention to Lucas who i thought was outstanding, he moves the ball a lot quicker then he used to and stuffs it in when passing forward. Thought he had a top game. Really nowt to moan about at all to away wins on the trott. Jonson

Adams amazing left peg?? how many goals have we scored from one of his set pieces this season. He is a crap defender. but he can pass. kevin

Kevin - according to the stats I have seen Adam has four assists and two goals so far this season. As for his set-pieces I remember he set-up Suarez against Sunderland and Skrtel against Bolten. He has also set-up lots of other chances. On the LFC website Adam's tackles won percentage is higher than Lucas', although he has made less tackles.

JRG

Kevin, he's contributed quite a few goals this seasons from set-pieces. He delivered the free-kick against Sunderland for Suarez to nod home for the season's opening goal. He also took the corner that Skrtel thumped in against Bolton. Yes, he's a good passer but he can shoot and score too, against Bolton and it was his shot that was deflected into the goal by Roger Johnson. So I think you're severely underestimating his abilities.

YNWAsin16

Adams didnt get back to stop the cross for the norwich goal. he left enrique out to dry. he can pass a ball but there is a lot more to being a midfielder than 50 yard passes. as for his corners. the return from them isnt enough.

^^Adam was clearly fouled in the build-up which is why he couldn't get back.

JRG

"there is a lot more to being a midfielder than 50 yard passes"

And I bet you're the same sort of fan who creams his pants over Alonso? Xabi was a better tackler but was slower than Adam, far less dynamic going forward and had a much worse free-kick. Adam's a cracking buy and the brilliant thing is he'll only get better from here on in

Red Ollie

Adam is class. He has impressed Sir Alex and Rednapp along with Kenny. However, he doesnt have the same pedigree as Alonso. You cant honestly say you would rather have Charlie than Xabi back. We are talking about a man who won a spot in Spains World Cup winning side over the likes of Silva and Fabregas. Lets be real.

^^ Someone actually fouled Adam? That makes a change.

Why do people still call him Adams when his name is Adam its being going on for too long now his name is Adam....

Red ollie, alonso got back and tackled he put his body into tackles closed people down by knowledge and anticipation. speed isnt everything as long as you are alert.

Week in week out, we fans criticize certain players and suggest they should be benched etc. I don't think this is fair. If you watch any team in either of the top leagues, it is clear that all 11 starters aren't having the game of their lives every game. It should be expected that someone will be a little 'off' and against West Brom that was Downing. Next week he may light up the field and we'll be clammering to have him replace Bellamy, Kuyt or whoever. I think the lad could have two goals this year (twice caught the woodwork) and possibly 3 (had great shot stopped against Stoke in 1 - 0 loss). If he had 3 goals in 10 games we'd be saying he was a great purchase. I think Kenny is staying cool and not panicking, and knows all the research and scouting will pay off soon.

I think we should start using Bellamy as a 'super sub' and bring him on at 60 min mark in most games. Towards the end against West Brom the lads were all looking sluggish and Bellamy has great pace. Bringing him on with 8 mins to go gave him little time to create/score goals.

I think Chelsea's position in the top 4 is not guaranteed... I think, come May, they will fighting 4 it jus like us, tottenham, arsenal and maybe newcastle
[jus sayin]

Random Red

I agree with you mate, they miss Essien massively adds so much steel to the midfield, it looks pretty pathetic atm. I'm not too disappointed in drawing them in the Carling cup.

Jatt YNWA

I think they've been looking good until the last 2 games. Yeah their defence has been dodgy all season but so has United's, and Chelsea could have overtaken them if they'd beaten QPR, where the ref shafted them. Add in one slip from Terry against Arsenal and all of a sudden people are saying they're in crisis. Truth is, you can't predict what will happen in this league. That's what makes it so great

Thought would look ordinary against a poor WBA yesterday. Still lack goals i think. I'm backing us to finish 6th. Arsenal and Spurs are both better than us. Unless we make atleast one good signing in the next window thats as good as it gets this season. Downing is not good enough Adam is not good enough and Henderson is still to young to realy have an impact. The rest of the squad is ok, could obviousely do with improvements here and there but so could everyone else except Man City. Opinions Anybody?

I think we need another few players, especially with Stevie winding down. I think we will get one new player come january, and most likely that will be right wing, pending injuries, etc.

Your a miserable bugger, that's all I've got to say on your post.

Papa G

BA. You do know it is difficult to get a win away at West Brom right? Manchester United and Chelsea both had to score close the 90th minute mark to actually win the game. Not to mention they beat Arsenal 3-2 at the Emirates last season. I'm still backing us to finish the top 4 spot. Hopefully Spurs draw today and Newcastle lose tomorrow to throw the spots wide open.

If Spurs draw and Newcastle lose

City - 28
United - 25
Chelsea - 19
Newcastle - 19
Liverpool - 18
Spurs - 17
Arsenal - 16

Still extremely close and still 28 more games to play. Don't hold your breath

Renegadered

Opinions?

I think you need to give the squad time to settle in.

Kenny has bought one or two duds every manager does but he's going in the right direction

All those haters and negative posters talking utter rubbish about new signings being this being that... F off and support a quick fix, flash in the pan, pay ridiculous wages to mercenaries type of team ! Man city, Chelsea, Leeds, Blackburn the list goes on. FSG are not a Oligarchic, oil pumping sugar daddy and are doing things the right way ! Proper fans will never walk alone ! TobiWan the Liverpal YNWA

This will always be a contentious point. No team has flawless transfer activity. Man C look good, but only because they bought everyone. Don't forget they tossed millions on Adebayor, Tevez, Santa Cruz, Wayne Bridge, Kolo Toure and others. If Liverpool had spent 100 million on these players we all would have jumped for joy two years ago. What are they doing for Man City now?

Rafa, for all his wisdom, really bought some useless players, and I don't care if he had limited funds. Degen, Dossena, Aquilani, Babel, Ngog, etc. Not saying they didn't have potential, but it certainly wasn't fostered at Liverpool!

Kenny has a vision of a team that I think will bring pride and respect back. I don't think his vision will bring us another PL title, but perhaps top 4 this or next year.

Glad you mentioned Aquilani. he is good enough to be part of the milan set up 2nd in the league and safe in the CL and back in the national side but not good enough for this liverpool side. give me a break. Babel is flying in germany and cole is going well in france. maybe its not those players that are the problem kevin.....

Suarez?? -McMenemy

To be fair to Rafa, he bought Torres, Alonso, Mascherano, Reina and Riera wasn't too shabby himself. He's buys were hit-and-miss,

YNWAsin16

Listen to yourself my friend, stop slagging man city for their spending. lfc is guilty of the same thing; spending 35m on a player with couple of 20+m players. on a moral ground, we should not be slating mancity cos we spent over 100m in two windows. what do you want other teams like spur, newscastle, our neighbour in blue etc.

FSG are oligarchic. They're possibly also nepotistic

Wait till I get the dictionary have you any more jaw breakers

Yes Rafa bought 5 good players but what about the other 69 "persons" he bought

^^ ha ha !

Good to see you post yesterday Macca, any reason for the silence over the last couple of months? Davva

Hi Davva,

I have not really had any news but also have had concerns that if i post something then maybe it may effect the club, for instance if i post a transfer target then maybe other people may pick up on it..

I know that sounds a bit far fetched but at the end of the last transfer window people had set up a blog about what i was posting and it ended up on twitter etc.. I would not like to jeopardise the clubs targets so maybe will have to think about wording it a bit differently next time..

What are peoples thoughts?

Cheers

What was the crack with Phil Jones in the summer. That looked like it was sown up, as you'd indicated. Did Fergie nip in at the last minute, or was that where he always wanted to go ?
Must admit, I was gutted when he went down the road.

Macca,

Only found this site in the summer but was always appreciative of any information you could provide.

It will be a shame if you decide not to post any more information you have regarding transfers but I understand you have the best interests of the club at heart.

K96,i cant agree with your post! Im in Wales and would cost a fortune in train tickets to make it every week, have two small children and a relativly small income! I simply cannot afford the trip to Liverpool! Does it mean i dont know what im talking about? Does attending every game make your words goldust? I wake up every morning and the first thing i do is check out lfc.tv,skysports etc! I live and breathe the club! Hell, the only reason i supported Swansea and Cardiff(blasphemy i know) was in the vein hope one would make it to the prem and id have access to a liverpool game! We all have opinions on other clubs, but do we attend all their games live? I think not, unless you are secretly Mr Capello? IMO anyway! Welshboy dave!

I work in Liverpool but live on the Wirral. A few idiotic scousers both Liverpool and Everton claim only scousers should support there team and you should support the team closest to where you live and have been brought up.
I must stress that only the few believe this and NOT everybody is that dumb.
Many people can't go to every match, due to commitments or circumstances and that includes those who live at Anfield.
A fan is a fan regardless of age, gender, race, religion or area or country your from. Love for the club is still love and Liverpool apprieciate every single support they get.
Ignor silly people who have silly opinions.
Physic red

Going to a football match has got nothing to do with giving your opinion on a football banter site. Actually, watching football on Tv would give you a better opinion of how a player/team are playing because of replays & analaysing of players & the game. So K96 is talking out of his rear end! Again!

The Irish Rover

Ok so arm chair supporters dont mattter to the club what about the TV revenue? Or our Irish support? I make it to one game a month maybe more if an away game is close, i make a 200 mile round trip which is nearly a full tank of petrol (£80) plus ticket, plus food and a days wage on a Saturday or Sunday which is double time. So on average it may cost me near £600 quid to come to game. Thats me i live a 100 miles away the last time i was there at the Wolves game i was sat next to two lads that had travelled from Denmark! LFC is one of the biggest clubs in the world because of the world wide support we have, and long may it last. GYRED ( GRIMSBY)

Is he for real? Yep, it's pretty cheap to fly form Canada to the UK every weekend for the matches. Oh, I wish! K96 you raging goon.

I think one player in the youth set-up that a lot of people fail to mention is Brad Smith.

He looks brilliant going forward and is a decent defender too, could easily see him making the grade at Liverpool, depending on how Jose's getting on of course!

Thought the team played really well yesterday, some of the quick one touch passing was great. Thought Enrique was top drawer again, what a signing.

Anyone else see Jonjo Shelvey on the Football League show last night- he looked sharp and scored a brilliant goal.
Young Ince also looks like he can cope well in the Championship.
Let's not forget what we have for the future.

Feel free to correct me but did'nt we sell Tom Ince in the summer?

As the Eds keep saying Hazard WILL NOT be joining regrdless of if we get CL football, We shud be focusing on Adam Johnson, a bid of £18m - £20m shud seal the deal, he is wot we need, plays on the RW and already has PL experience so he defiantly fits the bill.. P.S was really happy to see Carroll on the scoresheet Yday i fught he played well, was unlucky not to score more.

BigD

Don't know mate... I mean, I like Adam very much, but many of the comments here and on the forum have convinced me that the fanbase doesn't look kindly upon player coming with heavy pricetags. If Jonson does come in with a 20 mln price on his head, he will take time to settle in. I can already imagine future comments:
"Oh, that guy is s**te, I can't imagine why we would buy him when INSERT OVERHYPED PLAYER NAME HERE would cost only 25 mln!
And look at Hendo, already settled in, playing sooo well, and he only cost, like, 16 mln! Sell Adam right now!!!!"

Drigan

I would love to see us sign Johnson but I can't see it happening. I genuinely think this kid is the most talented English footballer in the game today and also believe he could go on to be one of the best in Europe maybe even one day win the Ballon d'Or.
I know you'll think I'm over hyping him but I think he's that good

Chris in Tamworth

I think you are dreaming, he often drifts in and out of games

1 of the best goals ive ever seen was downing v man city when he still played for m.boro. They hammered city that day. Id encourage the downing haters to look at that goal it was sublime. Yes,he was poor yesterday, not because he's average but because we expect alot more from him as he will be a big big player for us in the next 3 or 4 years. He has all the attributes of a great winger and once things start to click the downing/adam/suarez/carrol/henderson/gerrard combo is gonna be devastating. Just watch and see. My 5 rating on him y.day was very harsh i agree. But picking on individual players is a big no no. I think that downing needs to be benched for a few games and brought on as a sub just to ease the pressure a bit. All that is needed is a bit of patience. Anfield wasnt built in a day.
Capetownred

If we look at yesterdays game, nearly everything in the first half was created down our left. Enrique & Downing work really well in tandem. Maybe because Enrique likes to overlap, Downing is having to be a bit more reserved in his play?

The Irish Rover

No mate Downings crossing has be useless. I dont know how many assists he has got for us yet but i would be supprised if its even 1. He has hardly turned up yet. He was better for villa then he has been for us. He is and always will be a flop for us. He aint good enough

Who are you mystic meg?

Really think its time to try out Glen Johnson at right mid with Kelly being our right back, backed up by Flanno. Some of us have been asking for this for a long time and i would love to see if it would work. The extra push that it could give us from the right side could just see us surprise a few people. We all know that Glen can score goals and cross a decent ball in and his defending is, IMO, not as good as Kelly,s. Any thoughts from all of you managers out there?
robbie

I agree mate i think glen johnson would be quality at right mid with kelly behind for the overlaps and enrique and downing on the left they should be able to put some quality crooses in for carroll hopefully kenny will give this a try at some point dont know how johnson would feel about it but it could be fantastic if it worked cant see why it wouldnt johnson has loads of pace quite tricky and a great cross definately worth a try
giblet

The problem with this technique though is that then our fullbacks and wingers would be bombing forward thus leaving a lot of space in behind especially on the counter attack and since our centre halfs are fairly slow then many goals could be leaked that way. Still worth a try though to see how it works.
redl4fe

Cant believe aint been tried already.arry was sniffing around Johnson, and how did he say he'd play him?=Same roll @ Spurs!

Has anyone considered that Johnson may not be happy being pushed out of his position? Maybe seeing it as a sign of being forced out of the team??

If Glen does,nt like it or he feels that he is being pushed out , unlucky. The team comes first and i think that Kenny would,nt stand for any individual thinking that they are irreplaceable. If the team plays better with Glen at right mid then i,m sure that Glen would enjoy himself more being part of a successful side week in week out. Think of all of the players who have made a success out of switching positions, Ray Kennedy for one. A striker from Arsenal who became one of the best left midfield players in the country. If you don,t try you will never know.

Some of the negativity is unbelievable. We have just had a great away win. We resorted them to 2 or 3 shots from outside the box, two goals and a clean sheet. Also we are a point of third and only 5 points off second spot all in all a good days work. Then a home game against Swansea which will be a real tough game but one we can definitely win.

It also makes me laugh when people worry about January more than our next game. So lets all get behind the team as i keep saying we have a fine squad that doesnt need a lot of change maybe a tweak here or there but leave that to KK and the managing team. We are also in a fine position in the league and in the quarters of the league cup.

We are also winning away from home this time last year it was hard to see when we were going to win away.

Just trust KK he certainly knows a lot more than what we all do.

Mighty reds

Couldn't agree more mate i thought we won yesterday and people still have a little moan, in fact not only did we beat West Brom but they didn't even trouble Reina, Roy's men were just dominated from start to finish. From the football iv'e seen this weekend there's only really Liverpool been able to defend i guess it gives Kenny a bit of a problem of what to do when Carra is fit, personally i think if its not broke don't fix it i'd leave it as Agger and Skrtel.

Mind there is an unnamed post further down the page saying Van Persie is better than Suarez because Luis' first touch lets him down lol. Don't get me wrong Van Persie is for me one the best Strikers in the league but come on Suarez has a class first touch.

And finally Chelsea in the cup, tough(ish) draw would have preferred a first home game in the competition after three away but i don't see why the lads can't go to the bridge and get through to the semi's.

always a red

A lot aint negativity its fact!Everybody wants the same but Mighty Red has tunnel vision!Ie.I hated them Southern T ats on"Hold the back page"(Sports journo prog-Sky)writing off Lfc Champs Leauge place chances. But if im talking to fellow Reds, about the good of our club,ie.on here.I'ld relunctantly agree with them.Defend your own v outsiders. But be honest amongst own!

If we play a strong side then yes think we can get result at Stamford Bridge. There are definitley weaknesses in their back four.

Ed any news about stadium ? {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new to report but we know that some sort of statement is imminent (weeks rather than months away). We have a regular poster who has a "friend" that says it will be a new stadium of 70k plus seat paid for mainly be naming rights but I fear that he may be being teased by his buddy.

And the answer another poster about what options there are, I can only re-use a previous post where I gave my opinion on the issue.

There are five options as I see it: (1) New build to an existing “approved” design commissioned by the previous owners. This has the benefit of being the quickest and most economic way forward as far as a new build goes and I recall the fans being impressed with the designs. (2) New build to the design of an existing stadium (e.g. the Allianz Arena). This would save considerably on architects fees but may prove problematic in other areas – but may be more viable than folks realise. (3) New build to a completely new design. It will cost considerably more and take much longer to go down this route. This has to be a high-risk option. (4) Redevelopment of Anfield to add 12-15k seats that FSG would like to see. Economically this would seem to be the option that would give the best return on investment, but this is the option that is hampered by local planning regulations. My feeling is that this is seemingly the option that most fans would prefer. (5) A phased improvement and redevelopment of Anfield to bring the stadium up to code and to perhaps add some additional seating. This would provide a medium term solution that only moves the real issue to the right, but it would possibly facilitate the inclusion of the full quota of additional seating at a later date.

My assumption was always that any naming right deal would be for a new build and not for a redeveloped Anfield. I don't know if anything has changed in respect of that. I also don't know if FSG are actively trying to find a way to overcome planning regulation restrictions that would allow them to eventually add the additional seating at Anfield that they desire. Building a new stadium is going to mean a very large loan being taken on and even though sponsorship will cover much of the cost year on year, it can possibly be seen as an albatross that FSG may not want hanging around their neck.

My own view at this time is that the club will look at a phased improvement of Anfield hoping that a way can be found to add the additional seating in the not too distant future (option 5 above).}

I just hope further down road,us long standing Season Tik holders.Arent dropped by wayside, and are given Ticket/Seating priority in Any New Build

Hey ed, I just would like to know what is the difference between 4 and 5 options. Could u please eloborate option 5 a little.

Thanks
Abhi {Ed002's Note - The difference is whether the club would go for a one off programme that could see an additional 10-15k seating added pretty quickly but may mean closing parts of the ground for a while (if it could not be done over a single summer say) or whether they would look to spread the work out over a couple of years keeping teh ground at capacity whilst the work goes on.}

Hi ed, thanks for reply, I too would prefer slow renovation of Anfield if it is not possible in single summer as we can not risk to loose out on match day revenue. I think this is the plan which Macca also explained back in august. My final question is could we expect an announcement before the new year. Thanks

Abhi {Ed002's Note - I would expect an announcement before New Year, yes.}

saw Meirles play 20 minutes for chelsea. he serve very good Long ball. we have Carroll who like the long ball suarez did too. dont know why sale a sattle player just for £12m.

Did you see him bottle out of a header which lead to arsenals 5th goal. He's lightweight. Wanted to leave. Move on mate. Finaghyred

And not only bottle out of header but kick Arteta in stomach. It says something when Arteta is favourite for a 50/50 challenge. You should move on.

D 2308

Chelsea lost 5-3 sloppy defance from Terry. Near post goal from Petr Cech. and Chelsea draw 3-3 from the pass of meirles. but terry fall down and its 4-3 chelsea try hard to back in all out attack but get another goal. and yes Meirles cross looks great.

Not posting my reply eds? , love the site eds but even yous must admit some s**te gets talked off people who just av'nt got a clue . K96 . {Ed002's Note - Your replies were not posted because they were foul and abusive of everyone here.}

Ok eds , am from Liverpool ed born an bread still live here , go all the games have done since I was 7 seen us win the league , seen about 7 or 8 different managers and teams , followed us all over Europe scrimped and scrapped to watch us , had no money at times but still got there to see us play , sick of these on line streamers giving it the I know it all half of them prob hav'nt even been to more than a season's worth of games . K96 . {Ed002's Note - I suppose the best thing for us to do is to ban all Liverpool posters who (a) do not have a season ticket, and (b) do not have a Liverpool realted tattoo on their neck. It would mean that you would only need to mix with the true fans such as yourself. I'll see what the other Editors think.}

Eds you don't half turn post round well done clever clogs . K96 .

Ha nice Ed. Mate just b happy that ur lucky enough to get to so many games. For some of us it's a dream to get hold of a season ticket!

I watched Derren brown the other day and it showd how a group of people preferred to make negativity rather than positivity in the sake of their own entertainment and how we all turn out like sheep to follow suit.
This reminds of people on here who don't praise the victories but find away to moan and be negative to our team, players, owners or manager.
I guess these are the sheep of this site.
Physic red

That wasn't what he was trying to prove at all.

Its a fact that there are double the amounts of words in the english Language to be negative than positive

Its easy to be negative, positivity requires a bigger vocabulary

carroll looks in proper shape and alot more confident his strength is something LFC have not had in a long time people give him stick about his touch but its very hard for a tall player to have a good one crouch has one but he lacks power and agger is also a player we have missed we need a pacey defence with adam in the midfield the only player's id try and get are drogba or m gomez

Does anyone else feel that we miss some sort of spark when Gerrard isn't playing?

It was there during the Norwich game, and although we played well yesterday, I just couldn't feel a spark.

I'm not saying this is a bad thing, it means we are progressing, we are no longer a one or two man team, but we still need a few players IMO to make our team complete and able to win the title.

-A successor to Stevie, I'm not talking about his position, I'm talking about the armband, someone needs to be groomed to take it after he leaves, drive the club for a good 5 years.

-A finisher, a Number 10 in the line up. Someone who can finish our opportunities and cause Havoc down the wings.

Thoughts?

RenegadeRed

I think most (if not all) teams would miss Gerrard, though. Another Gerrard, or player of his calibre, would cost a fortune and I don't think we're at at the stage where we can do that, yet.

I think the team plays better without gerrard, players seem to always want to go throgh him when attacking.i'm not saying that he's not a fantastic player because he has been immence for our beloved liverpool over the years, its just that teams seem to know where the threat is coming from when stevie plays RREDMICK

We could always groom one. No money spent

Keith YNWA

Easier said than done, Keith. I'm sure everything is being done to bring along the next Gerrard. They don't come along that often, though.

Gerrard is the heartbeat of the team when he's not playing it just not feel right no matter what the Gerrard haters say or think

There will be no next Gerrard just as there was no new Roy Keane, SAF plashed over 100M to find the next Keane but got nothing for it.

These players are once in a lifetime players, Gerrard is Gerrard and we should enjoy the few years he has left rather than trying to find pail immitations that can not possibly fill his shoes especially trying to find the new Gerrard in an overseas footballer. The next special Liverpool player will be english and probably from Liverpool?

Who can encapsulate the spirit of the people of Liverpool probably only a local lad that one of the things that Makes Gerrard so special. The passion Geaard displays is from growing up in the city of Liverpool he knows why it means to pull on the red shirt and that's one of the reasons he so committed to the cause.

Jonny Rutten

Lets boot Gerrard out the Door when were kicking Carra out

For God sake people get real

happy with the win but god it was a hard watch. still a long way off top 4 but with january fast approaching i'm hoping to see 2-3 new faces to bolster the squad. were still light in a few key places. lets hope and prey suarez doesnt get injured. same goes for reina. coz daglish has no faith in doni what so ever

Who would you like to see come in? and who would be sold then to balance the wages to an extent?
JayB

Maxi & Kuyt out. Marko Reus & Hoilett in.

Like maxi more involved meself.but like players youve mentioned

I'd like to see us look at nuri sahin, and get gary cahill in and maybe look at a loan striker from a CL club, let the owners worry about the wage bill. top 4 costs money

I quite like the look of that young Hoillet lad, from what I've seen of him.

Do you fancy him?

If it would help him sign for Liverpool, i'd make that sacrifice !

We've still not seen the best of Suarez yet. I believe it won't be long before Suarez will be as good, if not better, than v Persie in terms of finishing

SingRed

His first touch is the problem. rvp is at the top of his powers now. 39 goals this year to date.

To unnamed poster

RVP has been playing in the EPL for many years. Give Suarez more time and you'll be soon be waxing lyrical about his goals, if you are already not swooning at him for his brace against Stoke on wednesday. Pure class!

SingRed

First touch is something you have or you dont. suarez needs to work on his, also his finishing needs work. he scores impossible goals then misses sitters. that has to change

Apparently Fergie is after Mascherano (bbc gossip)- that will test if Masch really loves the Liverpool fans... If I'm honest, it still feels wrong to see Torres in Blue cheering a Chelsea goal! These players were potential Legends that bailed out of a Club that is bigger then they ever imagined! Here's to Suarez & Carrol, Lucas & Adam, Downing, Henderson, Enrique, Reina, Agger - stand up and be counted lads...

The little agentine has no love for Liverpool he made that quite clear when he went on strike

Move on it does not matter who he plays for he is a mercenary

happy overall but would still love a quality striker and a good tricky winger to add to the squad. not taking anything away from the players we got

Hi guys,
I dont know whether i am too enthusiastic or not , although we won yesterdays match but still we lacked ball control. in the last quater of the game we literally gave away the ball to WBA to attck...
i think kenny might have his eyes on this coz we are having big matches coming up and dont wana give away silly chances to big teams like chelsea and Man city. specially chelsea who are desperate to get to the wining ways...
congrats for the win anyhow!

Absolutely Gutted to be fair..not with the performance but with the reaction of some fans around here. Remember how it was ""ALL HAIL UNITED, CHELSEA they are capable of beating a decent side away from home even when they play average by nicking a goal from somewhere"". But when we beat the same team without them having a clear goal scoring opportunity, keeping a clean sheet away from home against a team with two back to back derby wins and a manager who would give everything just to beat us its ""ohh what a bad performance; why didn't we scored 5; we only won because they were poor; where were downing and Henderson?"". Can't you just say"" we scored 2 away from home keeping a much needed clean sheet; they were poor because we were good and we were good because every one on the team and that includes Henderson and Downing worked their socks off"".
I'm not trying to slag off the fans to claim superiority. All fans want to see their team play well and to their maximum which its not always possible. But reacting to a win like a loss..it's not the way certainly not the Liverpool Way. So let's get rid of the negativity and Support the Team.

henderson and downing are really poor! change for kuyt and bellamy pls kenny.RedTurk {Ed001's Note - one day you will have something good to say, but I won't hold my breath waiting for it

************************

Weren't everyone slating Kuyt last week? Now you want him back? I'll never understand.

Anyway, I thought Skrtel and Agger were outstanding, easily being the best players in the game. With all due respect I really hope that Carragher will no longer be first choice, behind Coates, Skrtel and Agger. I thought Johnson was okay, but looked rather uncertain at time. I would rather have Kelly at right back.

Keith YNWA

Red turk you're a muppet, henderson and downing are quality signings

I think Downing started his Liverpool career really well, but his form has dipped a little. It is to be expected.
Henderson has played well, recently. I think he will prove to be a very good signing.

30 Oct 2011 01:26:46
Happy with the performance today. Few concerns though: Steve G has an ankle infection? Very weird. Joint infections are rare, as is 'groin infection' he had few months ago. Downing seems to be stronger on the right. I think his game is suffering from the same conscious weight of expectation that Carroll is feeling. Finally, can't help but note a change in Reina. Still top drawer, but doesn't look as confident, and his long ball passing today was 0 for 7. Could it be his double groin surgery?

Suarez the maestro again. Carroll will soon be scoring a goal per game. Agger looks strong. Skrtel found his new mate. Enrique top 2 or 3 left back in PL. Adam scored penalty (tough task these days!). Bellamy looks threat consistently (like Suarez).

Chelsea, we are gunning for you.

Billy Bob

Stevies anke was the result of a kick in training that got infected, so more of a skin infection than a joint infection

Good win but there just seems to be something missing, almost as if we are waiting for a player to come back from injury.it just in the back of my mind that it'll all click when this player returns and we'll batter someone. Its just that I dunno who this player is,no what I mean?
Maybe this just means we just a player short.think its just that proper goalscorer.if we converted half the chances we make we would be near unstoppable.this ain't a criticism of current players, its just the one particular player I think we lack

Pop aus

Maybe the missing player is Lady Luck.

D 2308

Ed, I really think we should be taking a close look at Hoilett and Scott Sinclair. Both excellent young players. 1 of those 2 (maybe both if Kuyt & Maxi leave) with Sissoko in cm and we have a power team. Any chance? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool had the chance to by Sissoko in the summer and decided not to, but he does remain for sale. I don't know of any interest from Liverpool in Hoilett but certainly there is interest from Spurs and the continent with a couple of German clubs taking a little look. Scott Sinclair is less likely with Downing bought over the summer.}

Ed, Do you know why we opted against Sissoko? Especially if he has been told by Commolli he is the successor to Gerrard and we then signed Adam and Henderson.

Ash {Ed002's Note - I suspect that Kenny Dalglish was not as keen on Sissoko as Comolli was. However, he does remain available and the eventual need to replace Gerrrd does not go away. For me, I think he would be a great buy for Liverpool.}

I completely agree. I hope he comes to Liverpool and Kenny becomes more keen on him.

Ash

Sissoko a replacement for Gerrard your having a larf?

A replacement for Lucas or Adam maybe?

IMO Stewart Downing looks somewhat uninterested and unhappy. 11 games, no goals. 20 Million waste?

Stewart Downing was bought to create chances, not score goals.

He has averaged a goal every 8.6 games in the Premier League. So if he scores a couple in the next 7 games, he's right on track.

I swear some of you people just move through the squad criticising players. Carroll scored? Right, who's next on the (s)hit list?

That's if you really are a Liverpool fan...

Kenny is creating a TEAM...And things are building nicely.

Matt S - YNWA

He just needs to try to beat his man more , the way he did in the first couple of games , maybe when he scores he will show what hes worth , as the longer he donst he might start shying away from the ball too much , but he was unlucky today hitting the post...........lfc

He looks a bit depressed caused he's pissed with himself. Downing is very much a confidence player - like Young at United - if he has an incentive or is the subject of praise he will continue his good form as he did for the first 5-6 games. When he has a run of games where he's off-form he will become a bit down in the dumps and spend a while like that until he pulls himself together again. This ebb and flow of form happened frequently at Villa and the staff at the club will no doubt be aware of it, as should our fans.

Waste of £20m? Not in my opinion. One of Downing's main attributes is his ability to pull something out of the bag when in high-pressure situations. For example, against United at Anfield he was decidedly average the entire game, but in the last ten minutes alone he put three seperate balls into the box that could be described as 'sitters' - all of which we missed, obviously. The only other players who can do that on a regular basis are Gerrard and Suarez. So a good buy in my opinion, but we'll have to wait until he gets a run going before we see his true potential.

Martin

Martin

Hit the post today, he's hit the woodwork a few times already so I'm not too worried about his lack of goals. He's also created a few chances. I like him. Once the team settles down everyone will be better anyway

So if his shots that hit the woodwork and is volley against Bolton that was saved had gone in he'd be value for money would he.

Downing's job isn't to score, its to provide width, link up attacking play and provide crosses. Some games he is better than others but he wasn't signed as a goal scoring left midfielder.

D 2308

Looks like he is playing a little too deep and controlled at the moment. Mybe needs to be given more licence to get fwd and take players on. Looks scared to loose posession, but have to try beating players at times. Suarez does and it doesn't always work. Also need him to cross for Carroll more.

Just lacking in confidence I think... He's top draw and proved it over many seasons - he'll come good with a couple of good assists and goal and it will turn for him.

You dont get anything for hitting the post REDMICK

Pity, cos we're top of that table, lol
