In ter est ing days.
I haven't got a cluedo who we're gonna end up with but I'm glad we're bang in the mix !
That's all I can say.
We're not gonna lose any big players, unlike spurs.
We're not gonna change our philosophy and build a team to suit one signing, like chelsea.
We haven't had our confidence shaken unlike utd & the arsenal.
And we got a legend of a manager for at least 3 x more years unlike city.
Yes sir-ee, interesting days..

PEOPLE. We are obviously going to sign people who are within the premiership already because the international market doesn't open for a while. We won't sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign players from foreign leagues because we are waiting for other clubs to bid and then out bid them if they think it is necessary.

T-Dog.

P.S I am not talking about cheaper options such as afellay or Perotti but more like Aguero or Juan Mata.

Do we Really need a New LB? in my opinion wed on't because i think Glen Johnson has done well at this position, and it would be unfair on leaving Martin Kelly out or him, if so we should push Glen up to the Right wing it would save us some money on a New winger.

Just my thoughts, what do you think Ed will we have Johnson and Kelly in the same team next seson?

OldfieldLFC {Ed002's Note - I am not so sure what will happen}

i agree, i am unsure about johnsons defensive ability but i do think he can whip in a great cross and we could end up saving 20/25m on a right winger, whereas kelly has proven he is a strong defender who can also bomb down the wings

30 May 2011 22:59:03
Ed if FSG and DC are serious about being in for the best youth players out there then we would be making SERIOUS moves for Hazard, Sanchez, Neymar, Pastore, Bojan, Sakho, Lukaku etc etc....If we were to make serious offers they would have to listen, instead we are waiting as our prem rivals start making moves for these players.. The FACT of the matter is we are looking at cut price alternatives...Dann, Mcarthy, Adam, Marveux, Nzogbia..I have a feeling the revoloution may take some time!!!

Dave.. {Ed002's Note - So where is the £200M plus coming from?}

totally understand what dave is saying. Not bid for every player he has mentioned but highlight the 2 or 3 that would make the biggest impact and go all out too get them, instead we hang about and try and get players on the cheap. understand we need to be financially safe also but for once lets just get in there, spend some cash, bully everyone else whilst they are unsure of who they want instead of waiting for some one else too move first and really show every one we mean business for once!

Hi eds! was just wondering if you think it would be a good idea to pay for a koptalk subscription or would it just paying for stuff i get on this site for free? {Ed001's Note - it is paying for stuff you can get on the net for free, plus a bunch of fantasy stuff too. But mostly he collates news reports then puts them out as his own stories. Better off just using Newsnow.}

Sakho - 17m
Dann - 7m
Adam - 7m
McCarthy - 10m with shelvey on loan
Gervinho - 13.5m
Perroti - 8.5m
Downing - 18m
Marvuex - free

Summer over :)

--------------

£18m for Stewart Downing would quite possibly be the worst transfer decision ever made in our club's 119 year history. At least with Carroll we could blame it on the fact we had money to burn and little time to burn said money, but we'll have 3 months to negotiate with Villa (if we even want him anyway.

Anything over £12m and I'd be ticked right off, I'd prefer if we didn't go for him altogether. He plays as if God only gave him one leg and his cross-to-assist ratio is absolutely awful.

30 May 2011 22:48:06
eds if perrotti is one of are signing for the wings but through the videos i have seen on youtube he looks a bit lightweight and if touched almost certaintly falls to the floor. lastly thier is no doubt he has a good cross on him but he seems to like cutting inside that will not help carrol score at all what do you think ed

Brian YWNA {Ed001's Note - he usually plays on his wrong side, if played on his stronger side he could get to the byline and cross the ball more, rather than cutting inside.}

30 May 2011 22:46:30
i'll be well chuffed with whoever we sign i dont care if a player has a bad rep or turbulent past or whatever the case may be theres nobody more determined than him to get us back on track i'd trust kenny with my life let alone my club he's just that type of person he'll go through brick walls for us and do whatever he can to get us back to the top and i truely believe he will do it might not be next season or season after that but i have 100% faith in the king and im so proud to have him back the man is a living legend i just want to say i feel so privileged to be a life long red and proud to be part of the liverpool family, the best fans in the world..we'll never walk alone..JG

Sorry people Im confused, I'm not a member of koptalk or anything but just read on their home page that lfc officials met with two agents today. I am asking why is koptalk such an unreliable source? And who are they claiming to have talked to? {Ed002's Note - Refer to earlier discussion.}

Hi. Is the post from Macca at 21:43 regarding Young and Adam the real Macca???

I believe Young will go Man Utd and Adam will depend on Aquilani. Enrique, Dann and Perotti looking likely...

Latest from Kopwatch:

"People are getting upset we have not named the names why? It's the #Lfc way. We will reveal them when the deals are close to completion and not b4, whoever does not like that can unfollow. We want things confirmed to us, as off now a few deals are nearly at that stage #LFC. Deals can be sealed but not announced until the club wants to, we will say the names when they are sealed. expect the un expected also.#LFC"

I just want to kill this BULL about players not wanting to join us because we are not in the CL this year..... What utter rubbish....
Suarez and carroll both joined when they knew we were not getting champions league football.... City signed silva, balotelli, de jong, adebayor and a whole host of others when they had no champions league football... Even tottenham signed modric, bale and berbatov yrs ago......
The players who will not sign because we have no champions league to offer are the same players we want to avoid with a barge pole because they are no different to the players who float from 1 relegation threatened team to another season in season out.....

Hello All,

With all the mad rumours that have been on here recently, I thought I would have a quick look at the other clubs sites to see what they are posting. Phew All supporters are the same! I mean 4 clubs have already signed Aguero and Sanchez, this cant be possible surely, unless they are on a job share!!

30 May 2011 21:26:49
why would anyone think we're signing Marcelo, Aguero, Neymar etc. They're not gunna wanna join because we dont have CL football, so stop with the pointless posts with no evidence or sources.

However, i think the chances of signing Honda are high because he would be just what Kenny wants.

There's no evidence for this just gut feeling.

Eds, do you have any news on either Diego from Wolfsburg or Elia from Hamburg? i think that they would both be quality signings an was just wondering if you had heard anything? Please answer, i never get answered! thanks {Ed002's Note - I am guessing that you never get answered as you ask questions that have already been asked and answered because you have not made the time to either read through the posts or use the search facility.}

i really think you eds find a way to put up the info u have on players for all to see on the side listed as editors update or something, plus your views on them because i see ur gettin frustraited and the transfer windows aren't open yet. not only is the repeated questions affecting ur job it is also taking up space in the rumours column. and im not complainin just think it will make the site complete (but don't make it so people can comment, thats why there is a banter page)

30 May 2011 21:22:01
Evening all...... Just thought I would throw my two pence worth in about Liverpool in general.
I think the most important thing we do in this window is use the "obviously talented" youngsters we have coming through as a back up to some positions in our squad. Then we have to add quality signings in certain areas we are lacking.
We will bring in a keeper to give back up to Reina although I do not see a problem with peter gulacsi doing this job but I feel that the king will want an experienced head.... I think that we will sign a quality left back..... I would like Bastos or emanuelson but I fear we may get enrique(who I am still torn as to whether he is good enough) then we have flanno and robinson as back up to Johnson and the new left back. I would let aurelio go along with kyriagkos and agger(never fit). I would move Kelly inside to CB and along with skertel, carra and wilson I would get 1 more quality signing for the CB position (i would go for dann personally as he is a red and will sweat blood for the team). We will also have andre wisdom, ayala and coady coming thru. In midfield I would get rid of jova, cole, poulsen and aqua. I would buy 2 wingers of real quality for either side and would promote sterling and tony silva to the first team to provide cover and give them first team expierience. I would also promote suso to the squad and use him in the same way as shelvey has been this year. I would buy 1 CM to add to this area and my choice would be Mcarthy as we have tracked him for years and will be a good buy.
This leaves the front players..... out would go ngog and I would buy 1 world class striker who could play with either carroll or suarez and who has some real pace and I would also buy a younger striker eg Wickham to compliment the 4 expierienced strikers.
I would also sell insua, degen, elzhar and other younger players who are felt to be not up to the job.
Sorry for the essay but I feel if we get it right this transfer window we could be back to where we belong sooner than we think.....
p.s some fans are already getting on my tits because they have heard nothing about what is happening.... commoli is getting it for not buying anyone yet..... carroll is getting it for not playing that much.... FSG are getting it because they have not spent 3 billion pounds in the first week of the window...... Its ironic how these were the same fans who wanted us to go back to the good old days of doing business behind closed doors and now that we are.....the toys are out of the pram!!
Patience is a virtue...guys....
Welcome your thoughts on my verbal ramblings!!

Regarding Aguero

"what are your reasons for saying an emphatic NO - do you think the players wold not come or the owners would not spend that much money because me personally say, have faith - i think they would come - no doubt - theres optimism for you!!"
---------------------------------
It isn't the transfer fee that's the issue. It's the fact that his wages would break the wage structure of the club. His wages would be the new benchmark for other players that we sign and for current players renegotiating contracts.

How do you think Gerrard (who's dedicated his entire career to Liverpool) would feel when we sign a new player on nearly double his wages and we don't match it for him.

Does anyone know if Gerrard or any other Liverpool players have a "highest earner" clause in their contract?

I wouldn't like to admit this to a Man U fan but they clearly have better buying power! Not because of the amount but more to do with their history and success. If we went head to head with them thry would certainly bowl us over.... lets hope the players we go for are of no interest to United.

British transfers - After last game.
Europe transfers - 1st June
International transfers - 1st July
I could have sworn that Ed002 said the British transfers could happen after the last game ?!

AS Monaco have been relegated, meaning Djimi Traore will be returning to Liverpool on a Free Transfer as a bit-part player and to develop in coaching.

Ha Ha I p*ssed myself laughing good sense of humour the two believables must have been a mistake. But on that note kk is looking at Sean Dundee for pace on the wings. Red AL

as soon as the transfer window opens for british signings on wednesday liverpool should go for adam and downing straight away so we get them before anyone else

30 May 2011 20:26:10
I would never bid that much for Vargas absolute rip off considering his cissokho is better option and cheaper and younger and rapid

30 May 2011 20:25:15
Sorry to break it to loads of deluded fans who think will get Aguero, Mata, Pastore etc it won't happen when we are not in the champions league

Also Kuyt, Lucas and Skrtel were are best players this year and most people are leaving them out of there squads!!

This for me would be a cracking summer adding to a team that done so well at the end off the year with the king!!

Elia, Marveaux

Outs:
Jones, Konchesky, Aurelio, Kyrgiakos,

why are so many liverpool fans sceptical on the possible signings of aguero/hazard. liverpool will do their business behind closed doors. However I think that neymar will NEVER come to liverpool. But then agian I think that aguero/mata/hazard are real POSSIBILITIES.

Ed002's I am not going to insult you but you keep refering to mata as he is going to play in the under 21's European championship. FACT look it up yourself Mata was born on 28th April 1988 that makes him 23, so can we have facts and not fiction please (Credability is key)
---------------------
To whoever posted this, you say credibility is key (although you spelt it wrong!) what a shame your post doesn't have any credibility as you seem unaware of the rules concerning under 21 football. You said you were not going to insult the Ed but I'm afraid I am going to insult you. You are a moran FACT

Liverpool will get Charlie Adam and at best one other player this summer, neither will be 'high' profile player and the club will be lucky to spend 30mil in total. Young is a goner..to Manu so lets all forget about this one. Things aren't as rosy in LFC as a lot of you guys are saying. Let's be honest and realistic rather than filling these pages with wishful thinking!

You are on the wrong page try the manc link or bluenose link, a bit of jealously, as i pointed out before the players aren't excited about the signing average players...

{Ed002's Note - I assume this is a spoof post. But just in case it is not, please let me know when Neymar arrives at Anfield (for first team football and further development) and I will drive up to welcome him. And your concrete evidence about Aguero is, I assume, gleaned from KopTalk. I have indeed said that the chances of Aguero joing Liverpool are slim. Obviously your failure to sign your post and you remaining anonymous means that no-one will remember it it two months time I am afraid.}

k ed if your gonna take that tone with my posting reliable information from someone within the club. I am more ITK then you will ever be and the fact that Neymar has recognised that melwood has the best training facilities in the world and he wants to link up with the same Barca coaches which trained up Messi. Messi was his idol which can be easily found on the internet. Neymar is 90% likely to join Liverpool i have been informed. He has repeated quoted his desire to join us and can see just how good coach Kenny is. He is not interested in the money but more in fulfiling the potential he has got. And he feels Liverpool is the best club to go to as he will be guarenteed first team football along with Aguero. The conbined fee will be 70m. We will also sign Gervinho and a young 17 year old winger to add cover to the wings. The LB we buy would be Coentrao but he favours a move to RM because they are willing to pay him higher wages. FACT. We have enquired about Marcelo but DC perfers Cissokho. For a CB both Subotic and Sakho have been enquired about. DC wants Sakho and Kenny wants Subotic. The CM we will be signing wil be McCarthy because he is an ideal replacement for Gerrard but he will be loaned out to Wigan for a year. Finally we will be signing Honda for the creative midfield and to invest into the asian market. This is all fact ed002 so you can either believe it of just complain.

Overall the ins will be:

Neymar
Aguero
Sakho/Subotic
McCarthy
Honda
Marcelo/Cissokho
+some young players under 19.

We will be looking to line up like this

Reina
Johnson Carragher Subotic Marcelo
Lucas Gerrard
Suarez Aguero Neymar
Carroll.

This is accurate ed's. I have sources within the club and im very close to a few lets just say, members of staff.

Just to put the "moron" out of his misery on the rule, I understand you have to be under 21 at the START of the two year tournament period (including qualification rounds) technically making the Finals under 23. This is from wiki...

Anyway, I don't know a lot about Hazard and Mata but if we sign them both, would our wings be regarded as World Class now or is it one for the future? Or do they occupy the same position?

I have a question for you.

Irrespective of the fact that Owen Hargreaves has played for Manchester United, what is his current situation ?

Both contratually as well as physically??

Payet is about to sign an improved contract with Lille becaus. Perotti will sign for Juve. Gervinho bid has been lodged but player prefers Arsenal and will probably move there with Hazard. Mutaidi is a fall back option/smokescreen if Sissokho doesent sign which is extremely unlikely. Downing as ive said for a while is a done deal. Please guys dont expect a massive summer in terms of marquee signings we are in a transitional phase. Our aim is champions league qualification then gentle progression on a title assault. Dont expect big star names for a season or two. Rome wasnt built in a day guys. By the way my information comes from a football agent friend whose contacts are involved in the above deals. Ed can you answer a question for me do you thionk weneed a winger like young who goes past a man and crosses or do you think we need a winger like perotti who comes inside? which type would benefit the players we have more? Oh i almost forgot, Elia will sign if we can agree a reasonable fee. His club wanted silly money in Jan but they hope there will be a bidding war and get an inflated price. However there is intrest from spain, Italy and Germany. Peace and Love {Ed002's Note - Liverpool need a couple of wingers to improve the squad. They will need to be able to have all of the attributes you mention.}

Hi Ed and fellow fans, what are your thoughts on Sakho.
Unlike Dann and P Jones, Sakho has the height and strength to be as strong as AC in the air. He is also a great tackler, allot of pace with awesome vision to add to a strong pass. For me he has the potential to have a role such as Vidic for LFC. The asking price is high but well worth it, but Kelly and Sakho would be a great centre partnership.

Wheeler92 {Ed002's Note - I think Sakho would be a great buy but we know Liverpool have already baulked at the price. Maybe they will return for him.}

--------------------------------------------------

Same old story price!! Listen, FSG need to face facts, just now we have nothing to offer except a decent wage and transfer fee, we just aren't an attractive proposition for top players. Chelsea did it, Man Utd have always done it, Spurs are starting to do it and Man City are doing it, spend heavily. Stump up FSG the initial investments needed to get the ball rolling. We havn't won the league in 22 years. Why would a player of quality currently in their early 20's respect Liverpool's history. Im 41 years of age, born in 1970 and when I was 7 or 8 and getting into the swing of supporting Liverpool I didn't acknowledge Leeds Utd and never have. I think were becoming a bit arrogant in assuming that our history will attract players. We may have similar historical standings as the elite of Europe but thats 20 odd years gone. A significant initial investments required in order to set the standard and FSG should've realised this as part of their due dilligence prior to becoming owners.

ed, if we were offered around 15m for lucas and 15m for johnson, would you let them go so that there would be an extra 30m in the kitty? {Ed002's Note - Well it would depend if the players wanted to leave and who else was available.}

To whoever posted this, you say credibility is key (although you spelt it wrong!) what a shame your post doesn't have any credibility as you seem unaware of the rules concerning under 21 football. So Ed say we have a bid accepted by Valencia for Juan Mata ..... can he sign for us then or does he have to wait till 1st July ? Also if everything is agreed now can another club submit a bid for the same player ? Cheers mate,

{Ed002's Note - If he agreed to join now the transfer cannot be completed until July 1, and it would be unlikely (albeit possible) that anyone would go back on the deal.}

Seriously, why does everyone want Shane Long? He is not, and I repeat, NOT good enough for Liverpool even as a squad player. Face of the matter is if he wasn't from the Republic of Ireland half of you Irish fans wouldn't want him here.

ed what are the chances or liverpool getting neymar or aguero or tevez as he wants out of city {Ed002's Note - 0, 1, 0}

Different person but ed how can you have such a negative look on things. Neymar I know for a fact would be open to a move here for first team football to further development. I also have concrete evidence that Aguero will have talks with liverpool or his agent at least as well as other clubs such as juve. You think he wouldnt come to us but would go to juve who are in the same position as us in a poor league. You forget he loves liverpool supports them. He knows were on the way up and and is young enough to be part of these plans. So take note of this date and time and in 2 months i will remind you and you will be begging for more intelligent posts from me.

{Ed002's Note - I assume this is a spoof post. But just in case it is not, please let me know when Neymar arrives at Anfield (for first team football and further development) and I will drive up to welcome him. And your concrete evidence about Aguero is, I assume, gleaned from KopTalk. I have indeed said that the chances of Aguero joing Liverpool are slim. Obviously your failure to sign your post and you remaining anonymous means that no-one will remember it it two months time I am afraid.}

I wish the three wingers, out of the most probables, coming to Liverpool are Perrotti, mata and Arda Turan. Would be great to see them. What are your choices, friends. I would be on the moon or even higher If hazard comes in, but that seems quite unlikely. Ur choice frnz.

eds, you have a go at people for asking repetitive questions but they do this because a) those are the players we are heavily linked with or b) because the questions they ask have been answered haven't been properly answered because you refuse to give meaningful answers more than once. If you feel a question is going to come up more than once, just copy what you said orignally then paste it agian.

{Ed002's Note - You think that the editors don't have better things we should be doing (work for example) and we should do nothing else but sit here answering the same questions over and over again - and it is our own fault that they are being asked repeatedly because we don't answer questions properly. It doesn't matter that we voluntarily put our time in to this and it is OK for people to waste it because they can't be bothered to see if their question has been answered. All our fault then. Right.}

Kenny Dalglish is desperate to bring Diego Perotti to Anfield, and has reportedly upped his offer by £1.5 million as fears grow that the Argentinian may sign with Juventus.

Talksport is claiming that Dalglish put forward a £7 million bid to coax Perotti into moving to Liverpool, but the midfielder's club Sevilla want to hold out for an £8.5 million offer.

Juventus have come into the mix though, according to reports, and have 'made contact' with Perotti to offer the star a move to Italy rather than England.
The Italian giants' involvement in the transfer is an interesting twist, considering Liverpool is already in a tug of war style talk with Juventus over the movement of on loan Alberto Aquilani.

Should the Italians snare Perotti from Liverpool, Dalglish may be a lot less willing to negotiate a lower price than the 16 million set for Aquilani's permanent release.

And other players liverpool should add:-
MARKO MARIN
DIEGO PEROTTI
JUAN MATA
CHARLIE ADAM
PHIL JONES
ERIK LAMELA
IKER MUNIAN
PACO ALCACER
SYLVIAN MERVAUEX (WHY NOT HES FREE)

{Ed002's Note - OK, I have no credibility then. You are an example of the totally ill informed that write in to the various sites every day taking swipes and digs at other posters and editors. You type the word "fact" in upper case to stress your point - not caring if it is right or wrong. How many times did you write in to tell me how wrong I was over Coentrao earlier in the week. However, I do thank you for beginning your post by saying "you are not going to insult me". As I said, Valencia may well wait until after the Under 21 Championships where Mata could well put in a very good performance.}

I can tell you right now that terms could (should) have long been agreed with Etienne and Blaise.
How and why they haven't I cannot for the life of me say.
I mean, it's not like we started the scouting last week.

Fellas, I'm not being impatient here, but just raising valid concerns. If you're happy to sit there and believe we have the best negotiators in the world who're executing their tasks impressively and that we're moving at the right pace in the window, by all means, be my guest.

Anyway, Ed002, about my question earlier.

Does KD have any influence on negotiations or does it just go through comolli? Does anyone know why comolli lost his job at spurs? {Ed002's Note - I doubt that Dalglish will have any involvement with negotiations themselves but will obviously be influential leading up to them. As for Comolli, he had fallen out with Jol, bought a number of players who were overpriced and, in the well publicized case of Gilberto, overweight. He went when Spurs were near the botom of the table and Daniel Levy fire him and Juande Ramos to bring in Harry Redknapp.}

JAMES 007 = Probably the best thing ive ever read on these pages!! couldnt agree more!! i fear we will miss out on our targets due to poor negotiating skills! the suarez situation was pathetic and as james says, if other clubs where interested, he wouldnt b at us rite now. we where lucky!! we cant make those mistakes again with the likes of mata, cissokho, m'vila etc etc...as they will end up at other clubs!

I agree with James 007 comments and the Ed, if we fanny around like we did with suarez we are gonna miss out big time on our targets. Just get in there and get the bloody deals done. We don't want to be looking in the bargain basement bin because we made insulting offers and missed out.

Interview with Reading Manager Brian McDermott played on Irish radio before todays game and he said that he believes Shane Long's time at the club is over, whether they were promoted or not, and that Liverpool are very interested.
I already posted last month that I had heard from Long's cousin in Ireland that Liverpool were interested. Think he would be a brilliant signing for us!!! {Ed002's Note - If McDermott said that before the game I would be surprised.}

30 May 2011 16:42:12
Ed just wondering do you believe we are biding behind scenes or do you think we will wait a week or two more ? e.g. mata cheers :D {Ed002's Note - IT is very difficult to keep everything completely quiet. It is also not a case of simply bidding. Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent and possibly even the player. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. So many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.}

30 May 2011 16:41:50
ed, we have been linked with a lot of young and talented players but in your opinion. who out of the long list we are linked to do you think would do well at liverpool? {Ed002's Note - It is impossible to answer that I am afraid without heading for the obvious answer of Sylvain Marveaux. You see, what if Liverpool fail to offer enough money for a target; what if his club won't sell; what if the player won't move?}

why in the world are we linked with downing, dann and long. This is liverpool we should bid for the world's best hazard, aguero and mata even if we have to give them a massive wage because lets face it football's changed fotballers from abroad only care about money so if we want to do well next season we have to buy at least 3 top class players. And if we delay and try to get a bargain I wouldn't be suprised if Man city and co pinch out tragets.

Its me again eds... I just want to ask you, how close are we on signing this player: james mcCarthy??? Juan manuel mata??? Vargas?? Izzaguirre and also charlie adam??? Please tell me eds as fast as possible because im now in the royal family house... Please.... :) {Ed001's Note - McCarthy possible, there is interest, we have spoken to Wigan a number of times regarding a player. Mata has been the subject of inquiries to both his father and club, both inquiries were met with positive responses, he is happy to make the move and Valencia are willing to sell. Vargas is actually very possible, but I don't have enough info to know any more than that. Izzaguirre is just of interest as far as I can find out, I don't think a move will be made unless we can't get other targets. As for Adam, last I heard he was going to have a couple of weeks off before sitting down and looking at his offers, but he wasn't even sure who was still after him other than Villa.}

wow wow ED, does that mean we just need to agree on a fee? {Ed002's Note - I assume you mean Mata. No, it means that he would consider an offer as well as others that are available.}

30 May 2011 16:26:57
Apparently there is a possibility of Kaka going back to Milan. Real Madrid have inquired about Gerrard's long term fitness as there is interest in bringing him to Madrid if / when Kaka goes... Playing along side In front of Alonso makes some sense!

=============================
the players and sometimes the youth and senior teams have been flying on easyjet for years. i work for them so thats were i get my rumours from.
the only recent one i have is the one i posted last week. mata would play for liverpool if we went for him. i got this from a senior player who has been chatting to mata about it.
however other posters seem to think valencia might be holding out for a bigger fee from barcelona.
so IMO he will be either a liverpool or barcellona player next year, depends who offers the better deal i suppose.

Thanks ED. He could be a decent back up, especially if Reading don't get promoted. He has really improved as a player lately.

30 May 2011 16:13:15
Ed, has there been any official contact made with Adam, McCarthy, Perotti and Mata

Thanks
David Matthews {Ed002's Note - There has been confirmed contact with the clubs of all four at one time or another recently. That is far from confirmation that all will join of course or that bids have been made even.}

In this transfer window? Are these 4 the most likely in your opinion to join out of all the names and players linked and floating around

{Ed002's Note - It is not obviously possible to say that they are the most likely to join.}

30 May 2011 16:07:54
ed, when we signed some the greats ie. hansen dalgliesh barnes rush etc and some of the most technically gifted players ie hamann alonso, were they well known or 'big name players' like the ones that the fans are posting on this page? {Ed002's Note - No but football was very different in those days. Fewer players moved between countries, you did not have the exposure or the profile the game has today. Comparisons are not easy.}

30 May 2011 16:05:56
I know it's against the transfer policy, but if we find an experienced, cheap striker, we should definately snap him up.

Whilst I'm not suggesting these players, someone of the likes of Owen or Klose, who is proven and available, would really benefit our team in the bigger picture.

As we all know, we are looking for a 4th striker, and I, along with many other fans, don't think we need to look further than our very own Adam Morgan. However, at 17 years of age i don't believe he is yet ready for first team football.

Therefore, by buying a quality striker with 1 or 2 years left in him would allow Morgan to be integrated into the squad over the next few years, and provide a natural successor.

Just a thought, any ideas guys? Thanks.

Liverpool definitely need another striker. Has there been any confirmed interest in anyone by Liverpool? {Ed002's Note - None other than the discussions confirm in the Rumours section.}

I was wondering what happened to the bus you nicely decorated before the Athens final. You know the one with we won it 6 times. Oops
Much easier to decorate it with "champions"
There again you would have to borrow it from the Manchester depot where it has today added a few more miles to the speedo

sakho/phil jones, cissokho, mata, perotti/adam johnson, matuidi, d.sturridge....would turn us into title challengers within a season or 2 i believe!!

Eds, Do me a favour and rate our chances of landing these players out of ten? (I know you must be sick of it by now, Sorry!)

McCarthy, Adam, Dann, A.Johnson, R.Johnson, Mata, Benzema, Aguero, Marveux, Young, Downing, Sturridge, Perotti, Hazard, Gourcuff, Friedel.

Cheers lads, Doing a great job. {Ed013's Note - 7, 6, 5, 1, 1, 4, 2, 1, 1, 7, 1, 2, 1, 4, 1, 1, 2}

***********************************
Seriousely why are ppl continuing to ask the eds to do this!!
Youve even said it yourself that they must be sick of it..
Eds.. Why not create a whole page and list every blooming player in the world and give them a rating!!
Its ridiculous.. Its liek a kid keep asking the same question till daddy gives the right answer!!
look at the ratings.. out of 10.. nearly all 1 & 2s.. they eds dont think any of them will join.. is it not clear enough or do u need eds 1 thru 12 to rate them all too before it sinks in!!??
Its a rumours site.. comment on rumours made or predict rumours uve heard.. its that simple!

Is Gary Cahill too expensive for Liverpool? And who is most likely to join at LB? {Ed002's Note - There are certainly other options being looked at for centre back. As for left back, there has been a bid for Enrique that was turned down as too low - perhaps another bid for him.}

30 May 2011 15:50:52

I no its not likely but as Miroslav Klose is a free agent, surely he must be worth a punt as a backup striker {Ed002's Note - It would be horrendously expensive with signing on fee and wages for a guy in his 30s. If Liverpool are going to start going down that route I would start fearing for the financial future.}
How much would his signing on fee be?

{Ed002's Note - I suspect £30k per week on the length of his contract - perhaps 2 or 3 years. So assume something like £4M plus his wages, and no possible return on that. It makes no financial sense to me.}

30 May 2011 15:50:31
Reading is 3-0 down against Swansea. It's looking more and more likely that they wont make to Premier League next season. It'd make it easy for us to get Shane Long. (Of course, the question is do we really want him?)

30 May 2011 15:48:51
Made some good contacts from my time on Merseyside and the lad I get my news from has a great link. He always texts me the team news a few days in advance and is always pretty much spot on. No real revelations but he has told me that Scott Dann, Charlie Adam and Sylvain Marveux will all definitely be signing for LFC.

30 May 2011 15:48:33
What people have to realise with the potential signing of Adam is that our midfield is already very able to cope with the players we have. Gerrard, Meireles, Lucas, Spearing and now Adam would just provide an extremely balanced midfield with strength in depth. We don't need a "world class" mid in there. With McCarthy that would be the icing on the cake, depthwise. At this stage the only really big signings, of a fantastic quality needed, are on the wings. Even left back is not a position that we need to spend in excess of 12 million on, regardless of who it is.

30 May 2011 15:44:12
Ed, do you believe Charlie Adam is good enough for Liverpool? I think he only stands out at Blackpool because he is a good player in a bad team. What do you think? {Ed013's Note - I do think he is good enough his set pieces are worth 7 million alone and he has a great passing range. People need to realize that he scored 13 goals and 9 assists in a team that got relegated and is a midfielder. He was the reason for nearly 2/3 of there goals to me that speaks for it self}

=========================
yeah but ed most of his goals were from penalties. i think only one goal was scored fom open play. if he came to liverpool i doubt he would be taking the penalties. i am not convinced by this player at all as of yet. but i trust kk if he thinks he will provide something for the team
mikey

==============

i actually think that he is bargain mate. he actuallly fit if we play pass and move game, kinda what kk want liv play...

30 May 2011 15:38:29
how do you see charlie adam fit to our system...any suggestion from ed... {Ed013's Note - He reminds me of a alonso type position to feed the balls to gerrard. Although he is not as good as alonso}

kinda bit...how we gonna play with raul, gerrard, lucas and charlie in the the middle... {Ed013's note - That is the problem we wont be able to play all of them so we would have to drop someone}

re:
=================
yeah...im fully agree with you ed...i still believe charlie is something that we missing after alonso gone..freekick, range of pass.

30 May 2011 15:36:27
ed havn't heard much from macca is he an editor now if yes i'm guessing at ed13
{Ed013's Note - No I am not Macca}

this is goin to be the most anticipated transfer window in years for liverpool cant wait

30 May 2011 14:55:06
I believe we only need 5 new signings to mount a title charge next season. This is working on the basis of quality, not quantity:
Muniain as a 3rd striker or to provide options
Perrotti - a much needed winger. For the prices that are being touted i would buy him twice
Mata - Another quality winger. Everyone knows what he's about.
Angel - Quality left back - can both attack and defend and wouldn't cost a ridiculous fee- a player we are screaming out for.
Sakho - Young, strong, consistent, versatile could provide cover at left back as well and I believe he will be a star of the future. If we don't get him now. someone else will and we will live to regret it.
Any thoughts Ed, also do you have any more knowledge than me on the availability of Iker Muniain?
Cheers, please post, great site!
{Ed013's Note - They are all good signings but I'm not sure about the availability of Iker Muniain}

Iker Muniain's situation as far as i know remains the same. It would roughly take a £20m bid to prize him away. Manchester United have shown interest in the player and could be ready to match the Bilbao's valuation. Its a very similar situation to that of Romelu Lukaku, 17 years old, the bid clubs are interested but the price could be the stumbling block for now. I haven't heard any interest from us in a few weeks now but as we all know, this is the transfer window.. Anything can happen.

Ed, I was just wondering how come people are so uncertain about us having an I interest in Eden Hazard, after all The Mirror did report last week we had made an official bid for him and Comolli was keen to tie up the deal for the Belgian.... please reply {Ed002's Note - Hazard signed a new contract with Lille and if he cannot get a move that suits him (Barcelona and Real Madrid were his preference) then he could stay and play in the Champions League next year. Juventus are very keen but cannot offer football at the highest level right now. Arsenal, Liverpool, Juventus, Real Madrid, Spurs and Barcelona have shown interest or admiration for the player. I would not be surprised to see Manchester United throw their hat in to the ring as well. If he does move and I was pushed for an answer, I think he could end up in Italy, possibly at Inter. The recent Liverpool bid rumours seem to be little more than the recycling of the story of Damian Comolli asking to be kept informed of any movements for the player and this is several weeks old.}

Thanks for replying :)

Excuse me Ed(s), out of curiosity, was Kelly's back injury the same as Agger's?
Sorry about my earlier post, I've only been following Liverpool properly (watching most of the games, all available highlights, tracking transfers and news to do with the club) since 2008.

Liverpool to sign anyone rated highly on FIFA below the age of 26

30 May 2011 14:22:02
May I just point out Pablo Hernandez is two three years older than Mata and Mata is better than him.......information passed on to me states that Mata is the target.

30 May 2011 14:19:54
The player we should get
Sakho 15/18m
He's a great young player who will provide the Vidic role. He's great in the area, got pace and a good pass on him. This guy will only get better. Liverpool have some great English defenders coming though, so what is the point in spending more money on over priced Englishmen when Kelly, Coady and Wilson (Scottish) are in the squad.
Cissokho 18m
What do I need to say! Just a great player. Cissokho and Sakho will only help young Robinson get better and better.
Mata 22m and Perrotti 12m (if the ambitious bids for Hazard and A Johnson don't come off (25-18m respectively))
Liverpool only need two wingers because we have Gerrard to cover if needed and the exciting Stirling who will learn so much quicker when he gets 10/20 minutes every game. He is only 17 but why not start to ease him into PL football.
Gervinho 15m
He is know Aguero but he does offer allot of pace. A front three of AC, Suarez and Gervinho will cover all the areas needed from you striker (Aerial dominance, Creativity and Skills, and Pace and Finishing)
We have some great young players and should help them get to their full potential

Hey fellas, I have heard that it's not Mata who we are talking to Valencia about no, it's their CB Ricardo Costa and RW Pablo Hernandez. Both class players and would be great additions to the squad. Thanks ed.

I will be really disappointed if we sign ashley young, so i hope we dont he is one of the most overrated players along with lennon and bale that play in the prem. They are all useless. This is the same situation as downing we dont need to buy players just because they are english in the case of young and downing. They are in a much lower league of player to that of which we should be looking to buy. Young and downing for example are no better than what we have in kuyt and maxi at the moment. And you cant argue otherwise as they would be in the england starting11 and no on the fringes as they are.
Or me on the wing it has to be a foreigner preferably mata or hernandez, i also think that we should take a long look at sone of the crao we have at the club we need a mass clearout which should be most of the squad
We should place a bid for bojan krkic as barca are on the verge of signing rossi

When scouts are sent to watch a team they will be watching the key player they want and numerous others that will be monitored. When scouts went to watch Mata which they did during the end of the season they would have looked at the likes of Banega, Hernandez, alba, costa all good players this does not mean we will pursue the deals of the whole valencia squad! The two that are definitely being looked at from Valencia is Mata and Banega.....although Mata seems to be the more possible deal with a bid being made this week.

Scouts have been sent to numerous teams in spain long before the season finished such as Bilbao, a.madrid, Getafe etc this is standard it does not mean you'll see bids for Llorente, Martinez, Godin etc... Liverpool know their targets in spain which includes the likes of Mata and maybe a proven goal scorer from Aguero to Osvaldo

30 May 2011 14:07:06
Ed, what do you think will happen between Johnson and kelly? If I'm not mistaken, Kelly is a cb so don't see why we need dann. So could it be possible for Johnson at right back and Kelly in the centre or Kelly at right back and Johnson right wing. Would be happy to sign Enrique, mata and perotti.

Lee the red {Ed002's Note - In the longer term I suspect that Kelly will make RB his own. But you need to look beyond a starting eleven to a full squad and the need to cover all positions.}

Hi Ed,

I've been an avid fan of the site for a long time and have watched it evolve from virtually one page of Premiership rumours to its' current layout. What concerns me is that it's changing to an 'ask the Ed' site rather than a rumour site, particularly on the LFC forum. Could the Eds not write a small blog for the day with their latest opinions or info, to lessen the daily repeats of daily questions from users?

Not that this will change my interest in the site, I love it, but I want rumours. We all have questions but as the Eds aren't KK it's impossible for you to answer them.

Best wishes Vic {Ed001's Note - we have set up a database to enter what we have heard into, but finding the time to start using it is difficult as everyone keeps asking us questions all the time!}

Comolli seen checking in at Manchester airport. The flightdesk was Easyjet and it was going to Hamburg. Doubt this is for Elia though, he is not the kind of wideman we need to supply Carroll.
I have heard Dennis Aogo may be the man we are looking to sign. He is a German international left-back.

im pretty sure koncheskys has :-D, in all seriousnes though I cant see there being any hints on the shirt name options after them putting up Glen Johnsons name before he signed, beside they could end up pulling a whopper like Utd did last year showing Mesut Ozil as a 1st team player

{Ed002's Note - I would have thought so, but.... A couple of weeks ago PCY gave alengthy interview where he spoke of his new bride and what the future holds. He made it pretty clear that he will only move to a club with Champions League football. For me, he may be being unrealistic. I also think that he would be an ideal solution to Liverpool's need for an additional versatile striker. We will have to wait and see.}
-------------------------------------------

why is he expecting to go to a club with Champions League football? He's just been relegated, you don't hear Charlie Adam or Scott Dann coming out and saying that. If i were him i'd take what was offered as long as its not in the second tier of French football, and if he is lucky enough to go to a CL club then so be it. Beggars, and by beggars i mean second tier footballers, cannot be choosers.

{Ed002's Note - As I said, he may be being unrealistic. Gervinho and others have said the same.}

Haha. Take note readers, this is the lad who slagged me off for having a laugh and posting on the UTD forums after that one-sided game the other night.

Pops {Ed002's Note - There is no interest from Liverpool in Podolski that I am aware of. I doubt Podolski going to a club where he cannot be sure of a starting place - it would put his international career at risk.}

Yes, I saw that he was worrying when he opted to move from Bayern back to Koln... Shame, because I'm certain he would get first team football every week as long as we played a 433 formation

Hi ed just wondering what players Liverpool are odds on favourites to sign this summer {Ed002's Note - I guess you would do better to check with SkyBet than me.}

30 May 2011 12:56:40
Liverpool are in a great position to build for the future with out current youth players and fringe first team players. Even though I'm sure we will make some top quality young acquisitions in the summers to come we still have a ready made team for 5 years time, and I'm sure all of the following players will have improved yet still. The following is a team built of current youth/fringe players and a few young talents i would love to see coming in this summer or shortly after:
Reina (33 - still prime for a keeper)
Flanagan-Kelly-Ayala-Robinson
Spearing
Sterling-Pacheco-*Perroti
*Muniain-Carroll
Add this to the likes of Wilson, Coady, Amoo etc as well as people like Suarez and co you will still be only late 20s we are well set for the future seasons!
Cheers

30 May 2011 12:46:08
morning eds not really to do with liverpool but who do you want to win promotion Swansea or Reading... and who would you predict to?

I want Swansea personally cause it would be nice to see a welsh team... Might keep a look out for Long today as well.

LFCJAKE

Oh also ive heard a fee has been agreed for Adam around 7m and were waiting on contract etc, so it could be a little longer wait. {Ed002's Note - I would prefer Reading but would not be surprised to see penalties today.}

{Ed001's Note - Rafa did not buy Kelly, he came through the Academy before Rafa took control of it. Babel, lovely lad I have to say, he did change my mind about that over the last few months of his time at the club, but he was not good enough as a player, complete waste of money. Rafa did not bring in Coady either.}
-------------------------------------------------------------

What do u mean ed when u say " he did change my mind about that" ? {Ed001's Note - I spoke to him a fair bit towards the end of his time with us, he was very helpful during the takeover and afterwards, though he didn't really know what was going on, none of the players really did. I have to say he is a very nice lad, and he has grown a genuine affection for Liverpool during his time with us.}

Morning Ed's

I said a few weeks ago I would go for Jones and Dann, Is it possible we could go for both and play them as a new CB pairing ? We conceded over 40 goals last season and it must be the worst for a number of years?

I am also hoping like many we have transfers done and dusted before pre season starts so the squad have time to gel together

REDFORLIFE

To be fair man Carragher and Agger both had inuury problems for a lot of the season. Skrtel is good but he needs a quality, smart defender with him otherwise he just gets lost. Soto has a lot of heart but is way to prone to errors and is unfortunately not good enough. I would say Dann is enough for the time being - we have other areas that are more important to strengthen and that will require some serious cash.. i could see us signing a top centre back next summer if Agger has another injury blighted season..

..Gervinho interest is cranking up, i predict a bid to go in by next Monday.

Hazard looks like a slightly higher chance of joining us (though this makes the chances incredibly slim as opposed to impossible), would be great if we managed to get them both.

I agree with RED4LIFE as well - hate it when we leave all our business till the ar$e end of the transfer market, weakens are hand and forces us to pay over the odds - i hope by the start of the season the vast majority of our squad strengthening is done.

My friend who works for a TV station reckons Liverpool have been talking to Valencia about a fella called Pablo Hernandez (??) eds heard anything? Is he any good??

cheers boys

SMc {Ed001's Note - he is very good but I have not heard of any talks about him, though we have been talking to Valencia so it is perfectly possible it could be about him and not Mata. The only reason I am assuming it is Mata is because we have sounded him out about his interest in a move and his club have also been sounded out about their willingness to sell and both gave positive replies.}

30 May 2011 12:23:17
Doing a search on this page I noticed that "Adam" is mentioned 24 times and "Mata" a more 20.

Can people use the search button and stop asking the same question / posting the same rumour again and again and again?

If you have something genuinely new to add then go ahead.

Oh and while I am having a moan please stop posting your wet dream squad lists.

I thank you

To this fella:

To you all who really had a soft side for rafa and about his buys listen to this he spent over £250m on transfers he tried to run a club on his own with full power he was one stubborn man who never listened to anybodys else views ( ie ) fans.He bought utter utter trash players who when you look back on arnt even good enough to fit the grade of semi pro.In the years that he was there ive never felt any positive than i do now under kk.Yes they was good players but please and if i am wrong can anybody tell me a player that realy stood out accept torres that he bought and before you or anybody says yes we made 25m on him i think that is the only positive thing about rafa that we had

Rafa bought:
Reina, Johnson, Kelly, Agger, Kuyt, Lucas, Mascherano, Alonso, Babel and Benayoun.

Now:
Reina: world class
Johnson: best attacking right back in the league?
Kelly: going to be great
Agger: world class when fit
Kuyt: our top scorer this season
Lucas: our player of the season
Mascherano: won the champions league playing for Barcelona
Alonso: £30 million worth of centre mid at Real Madrid
Babel: the most direct player at Liverpool since Barnes and Macca?
Benayoun: playing for Chelsea who just happened to finish ahead of us

Is there enough quality for you there mate? Not Forgetting Rafa also brought in Sterling, Suso and Coady. All the players us Liverpool fans are hyping about to be the next big thing.

lil_elf {Ed001's Note - Rafa did not buy Kelly, he came through the Academy before Rafa took control of it. Outs are (at least):
Konschesky
Cole
Jovanovic
Aurelio (although i'd rather he stayed)

source: LFC shop - sounds like a stupid source, but i found out Johnson had signed because you could get your shirt printed with Johnson 2 before the signing had even announced on the official site!
Jova, Cole and fabio have been shunted rite to the bottom of the list, and Konschesky isnt there at all!

Yes you must mean glenn johnson, our right back

I have a feeling we will sign Mamadou Sakho, DC see's him as the long term replacement for the injury prone Agger & KK agrees. We may have baulked at the initial fee but DC is a negotiator, Suarez' initial fee was about £30m & he got that down to £22m, so have faith.

Liverpool have agreed the signing of Rennes winger Sylvain Marveaux, after the pacy Frenchman settled a pre-contract agreement at Anfield to sign for a free transfer in the summer.

Just copied this from the LFC website this morning!

If you don't believe me go onto the LFC website under transfer news/gossip

{Ed002's Note - There has been interest in Witsel from both PSV and Liverpool, but the player has an oft stated ambition to play for Arsenal. Arsenal may or may not be interested in the player who remains best known for his leg breaking tackle on Marcin Wasilewski.}

To quote Ed above - he likes to go in over the top often and has a habit of blowing kisses to away supporters when he gets sent off for doing so. Horrible attitude - seems arrogant to me - but he's young. However based on what I've seen of his attitude I'de not want him.

A while ago I posted on here suggesting that crowdsourcing was used to see whether this site was greater than the sum of the individual posters (it should be based on what is known about social behaviour). I got no feedback, so since the end of the season (last Sunday) until just now I have been making a note of the number of times players have been mentioned for or against coming to LFC. I have awarded +1 for a "this player is coming" or "we are in talks" with him and -1 for a player ging elsewhere or not coming to us. I have ignored posts with who people want us to sign, I have also ignored editors' responses and ratings. There are about 130 names suggested with scores between -2 (Coentrao) and +50 (Mata). Rather than give the full list I will use Aguero as a sanity check - only dreamers think he is coming and he scored +20 so I'll only list the players higher than him.
The scores are:

Mata (50)
Adam (39)
Dann (37)
Marvaux (28)
McCarthy (27)
Friedel (23)
Enrique (22)
Downing (21)

I'm sure the numbers would change if I waited a few more days (Adam and Dann were very high early in the week, Mata and McCarthy have come strong more recently). I am also not saying I expect us to sign all (or even any) of these. I personally think the Mata score is inflated as he was a Rafa target so he is in people's minds. I'll keep this list (but not continue to update it as it is too time consuming) and I'll post the scores of the players we actually sign as and when the happen - I'd be willing to bet we sign someone not on the list at all by the end of the window.

Hi, , I seem to recall NESV mention that they wanted Liverpool to play a game at Fenway Park, does anyone know if a Friendly is planned there for the summer. I know they have held soccer games in the past with massive succsess and LFC have a very good fan base there.

I think we will attemp to sign a few players noone has looked at my guesses are Lennon (seemed to fall out with redknapp few times last year), micah richards (was reported that we bid in jan and city will be bringing even more players in), wright phillips, sturridge(but doubt they'll sell) and Adam Johnson(doubt they sell) obviously don't think we will get all these but i expect us to put in a few cheeky bids.

This is not a rumour as such, but I've just noticed that Cole 10 has been removed from the options to be printed on a shirt on the Liverpool fc webstore. Is this a signal that he is leaving?

----------------------------------------------

It depends if he watns to play football or just watch money going in to his bank account. I hope it's the former... we need pace not just a box of tricks!

30 May 2011 11:33:06
Do you think that Liverpool with their financial power now will throw money at a player if they really want him. And will they try to outbid any rivals? Obviously we don't want to pay rediculous prices but we need to show intent. Although there is quality out there for low prices

30 May 2011 11:28:22
Any interest in cavani from napoli? Would b gud fit with countyman Suarez, any idea of his price Ed?

Jimbob {Ed001's Note - I have no idea of his price sorry.}

30 May 2011 11:21:39
There seems to be a lot of people being negative about Liverpool signing proven quality in the summer. For those I have this point to make:
We had the worst start to a season for over 50 years, yet we still signed Luiz suarez just as Torres decided he wanted to bail out. We followed that up by smashing our own tranfer record & buying Andy Carroll. These players knew we wouldn't be in europe next season, but they wanted to play for KK & LFC.
We have more going for us now than in January & we have money to spend. If a player can't see past a season without europe then they arn't at our club for the right reasons.

Seems that Young is going to the Manc's (thankfully) but it makes me wander whether they have the big money anymore.
With Nani likely to be leaving and the money from Tevez and Ronaldo largely untouched, you would expect them to have a huge reserve of cash, but judging by the players linked, it doesn't seem to be the case.
Does this situation look familiar?
Anyway we have to be careful too.
Are FSG offering another honeymoon period - buying players only to stop funding a couple of years down the line? Worse still to sell off your most valuable assets! Aston Villa, ourselves under Dick & Gnome + the Mancs situation would indicate this.
It seems to be an American business model.
Well lets enjoy the transfer markets for now and keep an eye on our Boston friends

Just seen a post about Berbatov.
Let me tell you the two reasons why Berbatov won't be coming to Liverpool...

1. Fergie
2. Liverpool play pass and move. Berbatov would do the pass bit!

I think KK will search out some gritty midfielders, similar to Souness or McMahon, are Adam and McCarthy this kind of player, well we have to face that Gerrard won't be playing much longer........

Sorry for the rant but I really needed to get that of my chest because I am absolutely sick and tired of scrolling through endless posts of S**T. I come on this site to read ACTUAL rumours.
Please post on the rumours page please eds.

GAZ {Ed002's Note - Firstly Gaz it was not a rumour so it is not going gto be posted to the rumours page. Secondly, we have to try and keep this an open forum and whilst we can cut out bad language, inappropriate postings, repetative postings etc., I am afraid cutting out the majority of posts because they are not nice juicy rumours for you to read would (a) be an irresponsible abuse of our powers, and (b) would lead to a mass of "where's my post" responses which then need dealing with themselves. My advice is to skip over anything which you yourself find inappropriate and we should all be happy.}

I'm hoping Cole trains hard this summer and gets back to some form. He has the ability to be a good player for us and I can't see him moving on after a season.

If he does well pre-season and stays clear of injury it will be like signing a new player. I think KK would want this as he knows what Cole is capable of.

I would also hope the same for Suso and Sterling. They could establish themselves as first team squad members in the coming season.

The above three would make huge difference to our midfield.

30 May 2011 10:05:09
Re Charlie Adam:
{Ed013's Note - I do think he is good enough his set pieces are worth 7 million alone and he has a great passing range. People need to realize that he scored 13 goals and 9 assists in a team that got relegated and is a midfielder. He was the reason for nearly 2/3 of there goals to me that speaks for it self}
----------------------------------------------
But we have Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Dirk Kuyt ahead of him in the free kick / penalty taking pecking order so does that not negate Adam's major worth to the team? I honestly do not see the value in signing him and should we make it back to the promised land of the CL and dare we dream to reach the dizzying heights of the knock out stages against he likes of Barca, Adam will have his a-hole torn for him time and time again by the likes of Xavi, Iniesta etc. Without his goal input he is a very limited player IMO.

30 May 2011 10:03:05
We will sign J.McCarthy from Wigan for 8.5m, but he will stay with Wigan for another season, as part of the deal.

---------------------------------------------

Why would we do that, this is a very important transfer window for us and an important next season, paying that kind of money for s player and letting him stay there is not going to improve our squad next season.

30 May 2011 09:58:48
in reply to:
LFC will not be able to compete with the big guns on highly rated players on transfer fees.
When will our scouts get us players like Man U hernandez a bargain at 6million. We need to be smart and start working on these kind of players rather than go head to head with the big spenders.
These players will not demand CL etc they will be out there to prove a point.

this is spot on - i have said before any decent player in their right mind would not go to liverpool as we have no european football. In reality we will struggle next year without some pretty imaginative signings. We will sign players with a point to prove, younger players with a chance to move on if it doesn't work out and sick notes who we'll need to fix up. Suarez, Carroll and Marveaux all fit this mold so look for more of these types. I don't think Augero will sign but he does fit the 'mold'. Don't have high hopes for next season and you won't be let down

For me I would like to see us secure the following this window.

Jan Vertonghan Ajax. Centre half.
Juan Mata Valencia. Winger.
E. Banega. Valencia. Centre mid.
A. Sanchez. Udinese. Winger. (marquee signing and long shot).

I would like us to try an persuade Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy from Arsenal both are not signing new deals at Arsenal and only have 12 months left now.

I think the above would make us serious title contenders next season.

30 May 2011 09:22:31
Would just like to add my opinion on Charlie Adam I know there are a lot of supporters who do not rate CA but I believe he will be a great sighning for LFC. I watched him play for Scotland against Wales and he was the class player on the pitch. I was really surprised by how good his passing was. My fingers are crossed that he becomes an LFC player and from what I've heard that will be announced over the coming weeks.

Hi guys,
Leaving Brad Friedle out of this question, as I think 40 doesn't matter if you're a keeper, take Edwin Van Der Sar as an example.

My point is this, we seem to have signed Sylvain Marveaux on a Bosman, can anyone name a player who moved on a bosman who actually turned out to be a great signing?

I can't think of anyone, and Joe Cole is still raw in the memory, I think we get lured in with getting someone for free and have to pay over the odds on wages, and have to get shut again within 18 months.

Suggestions to counter this argument please.
Agree / disagree

who the f@@@ is perotti surely we should be looking at players like young/johnson/mata, also talk of players like warnock, jarvis , mccarthy, adam, marveaux, enrique haha we will have no chance of champions league football buying tat like this we need some world class players not the types of the ones that keep gettin talked about on here, with adam an exception, none are international players.Come on Macca were are u wen we need you???

I'd like to know your opinion on weather or not suso and pacheco will get some gametime next season?

and how advanced are we with mata? defenders would hate the movement, skill, pace and creativity of matter and suarez. thats withought the unorthodox style and power of carroll. a great attack in my opinion. seems too good to be true though. thoughts on the youngsters and the mata situation?

Hi ed, there has been rumors that Charlie Adam and James McCarthy are very likely to sign, but both these players play in the same position as Centre midfielders. So who do you think is better and who do you think is more likely to join? Or maybe both may sign?

Dan ynwa. {Ed013's Note - Both are equally likely to sign and it is hard to say who is better because mcCarthy has a lot of potential but Adam is older so at the moment adam but in the future McCarthy}

Hi ed013, I have a doubt. We already have 5 good midfielders{ Gerrard, Meirless, Lucas, Spearing, Shelvey}. Even if we play with 3 midfield players it is still well balanced and equiped. But i would take one midfielder among 2. My choice would be adam as he's different to people we already have with good passing range and setpiece ability. But i would not consider Mccarthy since he's alraedy what we have and it would block shelvey and coady who i rate very high. But in case we dont get adam i would take Mccarthy .So, what do u say? will we sign only one or both. And u r patient with many people asking questions and answering them unlke some others. Keep up the good work {Ed004's Note - Both are good players, if Adam could get into better shape, he would be a very good player}

LIVERPRES why do you think ADAM is crap. Can you quantify the reason. He has been a general in the midfield for Blackpool and they beat us twice.

redSHP
************************************

I think Adam is the perfect player for a team like Blackpool - his abilities shine amongst mediocre players and his frailties are well concealed amongst mediocre players. He is not hard working enough, not fast or fit enough for me. He only plays when on the ball and not enough off the ball. He is not the complete midfielder so not right for us. Just my opinion.

Hey guys, first time posting here. Got a question for the eds, how many of you are actual liverpool fans? Anyway on to rumours nows, live in Reading and am frienda with a few of the irish lads here and iv heard that liverpool have approached shane long about a possible transfer. Apparently he is not interested about discussions untill aftet the playoff final. Was wondering if any eds had heard anything about this? Personally think he would be a fantastic link with Suarez and Carroll. Is Mata a realistic target or is it all paper talk? Been watching spanish football for a few years now and he seems like a genuine talent onthe wings. Would love for him to be at Anfield next season along with Vargas and Dann. I honestly elieve we are only a couple of players short of being title contenders. Iv also heard rumours of Bojan being linked and tbh i dont think he is all that special, if he was would he not be being played instead of Pedro?

Ed, do you believe Charlie Adam is good enough for Liverpool? I think he only stands out at Blackpool because he is a good player in a bad team. What do you think? {Ed013's Note - I do think he is good enough his set pieces are worth 7 million alone and he has a great passing range. People need to realize that he scored 13 goals and 9 assists in a team that got relegated and is a midfielder. He was the reason for nearly 2/3 of there goals to me that speaks for it self}

bang on ed. yes he loses players tracking back and has a clumsy challenge or 2 in him but i think this is mainly down to his overall condition and fitness. his goals and assists better our midfield at the moment. if we get adam and get him REALLY fit (also carrol with fitness improvements will only get better) then he could become a legend for us at chicarito prices lol at 25 he has years left in him an would cost less than mcarthy. his passing is alonso-esque and his urgency of passes would bring the best out of suarez and feed the wingers we should aquire.
