Reina
Johnson. Agger. Skrtel. Enrique.
Lucas. Javi Martinez
Gerrrard. Suarez. Downing.
Cavani.

Not very likely but it would be good.

I think the term is "not a chance but I am on the beer so what the hell....". If you are already dreaming, might as well toss Downing and sign Lavezzi.

Liverpool legend John Barnes has said that Liverpool need three marquee signings to take them to the next level- Hopefully the club is already working to get Gaston Ramirez.
Which other two REALISTIC marquee signings would be on your wish list?
One of mine would be Soldada, and the other would be Jordi Alba to play on the left wing in place of Downing who should be sold.

Next level would be top 6. Perhaps sign Demba Ba and Cisse?

I guess you watched Newcastle v West Brom last week!!!

{Ed022's note - Brand new player profile on Matias Suarez of Anderlecht. Linked with Liverpool and Arsenal in recent times. The profile itself isn't the longest, but I'm hoping the general comments make up for it. There is also a new profile on Olivier Giroud for all of you if you so choose to have a look! www.player-profiles.co.uk - Thanks all.}

What does everyone think of Miccoli from Palermo? Reminds me of Shaquiri or even Mata... Always involved, good finisher, makes space with his runs... Anybody know how old he is?

YNWA USA

Miccoli is 32 years old. enough said.

Old. 33 in the summer.

Whoa! Forget him... Thanks for the info...

Just an observation but on the Liverpool pre Newcastle training photos Raheem Sterling is wearing the No.10. Is there any relevance to this because i would assume that the kits are made to measure and he's the smallest in the squad??

It is interesting to say the least, last week he was #31 i believe. I'm not sure if we should read into it too much but its definitely not a bad thing to be wearing the #10 shirt.

I just hope hes half the player barnes was and he'll do alright

Crunchsports.com looks a pretty good site but wether or not they've actually got any inside info is another thing. Let's hope so eh?

They changed the layout recently....personally I prefer the old one, but yeah the articles are good.

I have a question for everyone and please answer honestly... Lets say, for arguments sake, That any other manager had been in charge for kenny's time as manager and this manager has got all of kennys results this season, Would you stick by him or would there be protests outside anfield until he was scaked? I kow my answer, Kenny is only still in charge because of his name and what he has done in the past for our club...its simply not acceptable, no man is bigger than our club, results and facts show that kenny has the worst record in 62 years of our club, he needs to step down, eddie62

Ild give him at least another year, otherwise we'll be sacking managers every year!

It isn't all about results when making a decision on whether or not a manager loses his job or not.In the majority of our matches this season we have failed to take our chances. The loss of Gerrard,Agger,Johnson, Lucas and Suarez for big chunks of the season have also been a factor.Imo these five starting most of the games, then we would still be in the mix for top 4.
Jiminy Cricket

@eddie62, 110% agree with you!!

Kenny has down so much for our club but if he stays for another season I'm 100% we will play in the championship football the season after. You can sugar coat it how you want to but let's get real £113m and we still can't finish in the top 6 now I'm sorry but we're better than that, Football has changed a lot and kenny is still leaving in the 80/90s. I hope for the good of the fans and our club he steps down if not then sack him. If we don't finish next season in a champions league position then we will just become another sinking ship like Leeds or Newcastle.

Dave {Ed001's Note - how are Newcastle a sinking ship????}

Ed001 Mike Ashley will sale there top players as soon a good offer comes in. Ed001 I've got 2 question for you

1 Are you a Liverpool fan or a Kenny fan?
2 When would you draw the line and say enough is enough Kenny has to go?

I sure if we got a new manager we're gonna need a big clear out,
Adam, Hendo, Fabio, Maxi, Spearing, Carra, Kuyt, Cole, Poulsen, Doni, Aqua & a few youngsters. Which means we'll have to take an overall big hit on some of them.

But if Kenny stays he'll spent another £100+ just to keep us up in this league.
Dave {Ed001's Note - 1. It is possible to be both you know. You might want to realise the two are not exclusive, even if Kenny does fail as manager, I will still respect him for what he has done for this club in the past.
2. When he has had time to get rid of dross brought in by previous managers, such as Poulsen, Cole etc and built his own team. One full season is only enough on a video game, in real life it takes longer.}

Ed001 I love Kenny for what he's done for our club but at the start of this season if someone told we wouldn't get more than 60pt I would have pull out what's left of my hair.

Dave

Cry me a river, Dave - judge KK on at least 2 seasons. No-one can be expected to get everything right in one season even with billions to spend. Kenny has bought who he thinks will succeed at LFC - if we had a 20-a-season striker, you would be looking at Carroll, Hendo, and co with different eyes. This next summer he can tweak his masterplan, buy a striker, get rid of Poulsen and Cole, and learn from what went wrong this season (which has not exactly been a disaster).
I will be backing him all the way along with the other supporters.

Failing to keep the top class players we had (the 4 still playing in the c.l ) is a big reason for the position we are in and sadly our top player s.g. has been out and is still not fit and may never get back to the fantastic player he has been.
also buying the players k.k did? has let the side down we can all expect 1 or 2 players out of 4 to take time to prove them selves but 4 out of 4 thats put k.k on the back foot and i am sure he is as disapointed as we all are, but he can not slag them off he has to try and get the best out of them for now.
i am very happy we are out of the mess the club were in but are the new owners involved enough , i hope so but they are very quite about things.
can any one every see are our fans being treated to free transport like everton fans or £10 off a ticket as the stoke fans were at anfield because stoke thought £35 was too expensive .
good luck to the reds , hold your head up high and remember all the good things will come back but its going to be harder than we expected.
red mick tag

Henderson , Carroll , Adam could all be next seasons Lucas and so could Kenny but you will reply with I always knew Lucas was amazing and never once said he should be gone coz im an all knowing essence. Then also one of if not the greatest manager of all time had people calling for him to be sacked and then he took his team to back to back heights no one even thought possible so sometimes just believe.
JESUS WHAT WERE YOU LOT LIKE SUPPORTING LIVERPOOL IN THE 90S.

OH WAIT PROBABLY ALL STARTED SUPPORTING IN 2005 SORRY FOR ASKING.

I wonder if Podolski would consider a move to LFC? He plays for a mid-table team, so it wouldn't be a shock for him. I know of Arsenal's interest, but surely that is only if they lose Van Persie.

Eds
I heard that out of the last 7 games Carroll started we won 6 drew 1, since he hasn't started the stats are awful, what's the truth..
If right puts all the critics in there place
Pistol Pete {Ed001's Note - it is true that we have gained much better results with him in the team all season.}

Honestly think maybe a part of this particular stat (not the whole of it, but part) is Carroll does a really good job helping to head out balls into the box on corners and free kicks. With him in the side, we may or may not be stronger offensively depending on which side you believe, but think it's pretty obvious we're better on the above two situations with him in there.

RDL

I agree that he should start every game.

The thing that stat could be showing though is that we need to play 2 up top or one other player with Suarez (rather than him being on his own getting marked by 3 defenders).

30 Mar 2012 20:53:50
eds do you think sterling will start a game this season?

also do you think he will be on the bech in the fa cuo so if we get to the final he will get a medal?

thanks eds, please post and great work {Ed001's Note - he might get injured tomorrow, so no way of knowing that. I very much doubt he will get a start, but you never know I guess. As for being on the bench so he can get a medal, why would he be?}

30 Mar 2012 20:50:51
I really hope we drop henderson for the rest of this season!
It'll teach him a lesson about playing for liverpool you must be better
Get Shelvey a shot next to gerrard and spearing in tight games and let Sterling take the right with Dirk as cover...

My Team would be oh soo different as exciting

Suarez up front with Maxi playing in Gerrard hole behind the stiker
Then downing giving his from on the left, Shelvey and Gerrard in the middle, (With Gerrard holding) Sterling on the right and if he doesn't look ready by the 60min mark then bring on Kuyt to make 3 up front
Also I might be slagged off here but drop enrique give Auroilo this game see if he has still got it... He was great at one point in his carrer
Srtel can try and keep Cara outa trouble in the back two
And Kelly or Jonson i dont even mind which one they are at the same level now...

Who would rather watch that line up ?

Well, I'm sorry but thats a terrible team...No defencive qualitys. Gerrard isn't good enough defensivly to hold. Caragher is terrible, and Enrique's just about looked our best player. Carroll is better than Maxi anyday, and draws players brilliently. Where's Lucas? I know he's injured, but this is an IDEAL team is it not?

Other than that it's brillient though.

J-Red

Shelvey's best position imo is behind the striker.Gerrard doesn't have the discipline to play the holding role, and it also takes away the best part of his game.Carra would dictate the way we play, which would mean deep and that would mean our strikers being isolated Shelvey doesn't have the engine to go box to box for 90 minutes.

hi eds i have two questions

1) why does it seem that the spanish teams all put buy out clauses on the former players? oriol romeu of chelsea is an example. why do they do it and english clubs dont? do english clubs just say the heck of it or something?

and

toni silva. do you reckon he will be first team next season? i expect us to buy cover for the RW anyways but atleast we would have to options. (hope we get robben to teach silva the reigns but we wont get him) {Ed001's Note - I believe buy out clauses are required in Spain. I hope we give Silva a chance next season, but I expect him to go out on loan to the Championship.}

SHED END

Hate to say it but, 4-0 newcastle

Gaston Ramirez is not what it should buy liverpool. are a few creative players with technique in the system speed and not very expensive, Matias Fernandez (Sporting Lisbon) .. = 15 million, diego (Wolfsburg) = 10 million. defensive midfielders not very expensive = m 'villa (Rennes) = 15 million, Moussa sissoco (toulouse) = 15 million, and one of these three stickers = Cavani (Udinese) 35mil, Falcao (Atletico Madrid) 35mil., Higuain = 30 million . agree or not

Is Gaston Ramirez not a reasonably priced creative player? M'Vila will probably cost more than £20 mil and we won't sign any of those strikers.

Papa G

Considering cavani plays for Napoli and Diego for athletico Madrid I disagree :)

Diego's just on loan at Madrid, mate.

I think the gaston ramirez transfer makes perfect sense , and i do believe he is a target for the summer :

1) he is young , just 21 years old ( fits the FSG policy of buying young )

2) liverpool need wingers/ attacking midfielders

3) ed001 has said that surarez recommened him , which sounds realistic to me

4) i dont think he would be too expensive and also i think he would want to join.

5) he has uruguay team mates here to help him settle in (suarez and coates )

Hopefully we will sign him !

You forgot one key thing. Is he any-good?

just seen kennys interview about his plans for the future, i must admit i was hoping he would be gone this summer, ive no confidence in him at all, bad signings, bad tactics, bad management, bad interviews, bad outlook, bad attitude and most importantly, bad results, we need something new, quick, we are becoming a laughing stock, paul

Paul, pour yourself a drink, or take a 'upper' you are just too negative.

Surprised I didn't see Arsene Wenger in the petrol station this morning....he loves a good panic buy.

You do realise that their 4 places above us and 16 points ahead of us ?

Yep, and you realise I'm a United fan don't you :)?

DB-Red

Ya! time and a place for that one.

4 places above us? Didn't know you could go above top of the league?

Wenger bought Oxalade-Chamberlain who is future super star, Arteta whose doing great. I would take those two alone over our big 4 signings any day.

Question for the Eds

What does one have to do to become an Ed {Ed001's Note - bribes are encouraged.....}

personally i think we should sign some of these lads good quality and cheap:
Affelay,M.Suarez,Marin,L.de jong,W.Hennessy,M.phillips, Dede.
What do you think ed(s)

Looked ok till you mentioned hennessy, hes such a poor keeper

Affelay, Marin, DeJong, Dede will not be cheap. We will probably sign Phillips...he does sound British after all.

30 Mar 2012 17:49:31
If liverpool sign a striker in the summer i would love it to be a striker that never stops closing down the defenders all game and is as intelligent as suarez with a eye for goal anyone got strikers who fit the bill in mind.

gee man

If Liverpool sign a striker in the summer i'll be happy if he knows how to put the ball in the net

I agree. Messi or Ronaldo. They seem to have scoring touch.

I think we should go for rossi from Villareal.

Defoe would do a crack in job for us and with Suarez behind him

No! End off

Defoe would be a great signing he would bang in loads of goals. Easily a 20 goal a season striker for us.

Barry B

Ramierz would be better!

Yeah Defoe would of been great if he was signed in jan window but not for the summer.

We are always linked with the top class players like, martinez, huntelaar, tello,Llorente, season after season, but we will end up gettin the likes of lee cattormole or milner or bobby zamora thinkin there goin to do a job for us. Spearin, kuyt, carragher, carroll should not play a game next season as they have cost us more points than they gained for us..Plus "KK's" team sheets baffles me every week playin players in positions they are not accustomed to.

Do you think having Saurez and Coates, both young and from Uraguay is the catalyst in Ramirez possibly coming to LFC? This dude looks a beast, we'd lacked a creative attacking player all year, other than Saurez, and he's young too so I say get him! As well as another proven or clinical ST, cuz Andy Donkey Carroll just isn't ready...I say go for Higuain if possible as looks certain to be dropped from Real's plans if they get Cavani, etc.

LojR

Suarez will be gone in the summer

Higuain to Liverpool ? Do you reallt think he would swap playing with Ramos, ronaldo, kaka, ozil, di maria to play with lucas, gerrard, carragher, spearing, downing, adam and shelvey ?? Come on now, get real pal, If he ever left madrid he would have a choice of inter, ac, man u, city, arsenal, chelsea, juventus etc.

Higuain to Liverpool is like saying Rooney to Stevenage!

Bit hard on Stevenage innit!

Stevenage is a real Granny town.

Hey eds Gaston Ramirez agent has also said that the club has to pay 70% of transfer fee to bologna and 30% to his former club Penarol so how would the transfer work LFC will just pay the money to Bologna or pay some to each club?
{Ed002's Note - Typically for international transfers it would go through an ESCROW account. A buying club would not make any direct payment in respect to "sell on" fees or such like as the contract for those fees is between the existing and previous owners of the player's registration.}

30 Mar 2012 15:54:19
hey eds just say this weeks training pics and saw the likes of robinson, sterling, shelvey, wisdom, and coates and i think yuo could be right about liverpoolplaying youngsters now,

I'm inclined to say Heskey, Snodgrass, Huth, Crainey and Rickie Lambert.

KenBarlow1000

Ed do you think soldado is realistic?

thanks {Ed001's Note - it really depends on who else goes in for him, our main hope is the lack of money in Spanish football right now.}

saw the training pics from the official site... very happy to see the likes of andre wisdom, raheem sterling and jack robinson involved. looks like dalglish finally feels they deserve a chance to prove they a worthy of at least a place on the bench in league games.

can i ask the eds whether you know what the management think of suso? i ask because i feel he lacks commitment and his attitude isnt always the best on the pitch.

thanks {Ed002's Note - His time will come but my understanding is that he is just not ready yet.}

I also think he's still recovering from an injury, I think he may have the quality to play some part in the future though.

Mr EM,I did not mention the final. In which no,we were not impressive. If you would like to write off the teams we played, and concentrate on the final,in which a championship team played the best football most will play in their careers, then you crack on mate. But don't make out that Cardiff where the b all and end all. We played a lot of strong teams away and won them all. Winning that trophy started V Exeter. Don't think we were impressive in the tournament? Well I'm glad the club has your support. And if you are going to comment on my post again, try and comment on the whole thing not just one word please, although at least you signed your post credit for that. WelshBoyDave

I have no idea what you are talking about, my post was CLEARLY aimed at the comment below yours that was only concentrating on the final, as testified by the fact i ''copied and pasted'' a portion of the said post, i agreed with your post!

to all glory supporters, could you do us a favour and please stop commenting on our club please.
1. you have no idea what is good and what is bad for the club.
2.when you comment on the club it does nothing but damage to other peoples views.
3.when you call for kk to be sacked it stinks, all kk wants is the best for our club and when he thinks hes doing more damage than good then he'll step aside but untill then is there any chance you could do the same as me and just sing along please and thanks.

i could go on and on and on ..........p.s. please think first! to everyone else good job!

barrabas jft96!

Hasn't he realised he's doing more damage than good yet?

Why do you presume to think no one knows what is good or bad for the club, other than you?

Why do you presume to think seeking glory is bad? Do fans support a team hoping the team will be inglorious? Did you want us to lose at Wembley?

Perhaps you should "think first".

He's not the only one I think he me tioned Kenny aswell lol

Quigz23

I think what he means is if you cant sing when we lose then dont sing at all one of my proudest moments was at a match that we lost and a chorus of you'll never walk alone started i'll tell you what the hairs on the back of my neck stood up that'll be with me forever. thats when you realize you follow a special club with special supporters quality.

Hi eds we see that Liverpool are obviously making plans for next season with regards new players as confirmed by macca as well earlier in the week and obviously they are kenny players with the help of Commoli. Is this a sign that they plan kenny being manager next season?

Lets hope so he is doing a brilliant job considering we were eighth from bottom and out of cups when he took over.

30 Mar 2012 15:05:28
I think the biggest problem at the moment is that we have lost matches that we should have won. The failure to win is the failure of the players. We would have a greater problem if we were losing matches that we deserved to lose. The goals will come again and so will better results. I honestly think that we will see a much-improved Liverpool side next season. What I have said before, and firmly believe,is that players who are not going to be at Anfield next season (and Kenny knows who they are) should not play again in the First Team, but that some of the youngsters should be given experience instead. The argument against that is that they may lose confidence if they don't play well on the few occasions that they may get a chance. Dalglish has to ensure them that this will not be the case. If it doesn't sink in then then they are not players we want at Liverpool.

So dont play the youngsters incase they lose confidence, but keep playing the ones who have no confidence !!!!

Sorry, I am forgetting my English. It is not me who is afraid of them losing their confidence but the powers-that-be at Anfield and other fans. This is one of the excuses frequently used as a reason for not giving them a chance. I personally am all for it - this way we may learn if they actually have what it takes to be a great player for Liverpool. The ones that have no confidence at the moment are perhaps the ones that will be leaving and therefore shouldn't play again. I hope that I am a little clearer this time . Thanks for the comment whoever you are!!

Im sick of the fact that people are just crying for kenny's head if you really doubt his ability then you should remember last year what were we 2nd best in the league after kenny's arrival. As for the transfer policy there's no point slagging it off but i do think where he got wrong was he buyed british due to they were already in the league and the team would gel quicker but he forgot the fact that they would be playing for lfc and didnt consider their nerves and i do think they will come of good once's they have grasped how to play for a club which is the most succesful in english history,Secondly i also think this season is jinxed come on 31 times we have hitten the woodwork.....we will come good im sure
Harsh YNWA
P.S.-Plz dont change your views on the results of the team because that is not what a true fan does

So we've gone from 2nd best to the worst over last seven games WOW !!

People are calling for his head cause of the poor signings and his tean selections...Like when we play at home he only has one up front and has Spearing playing! We only need Spearing playing against the better footballing teams. And playing one up front is just madness!

And when he makes a sub he waits until the 70th minute to do so leaving the player with not enough time to make an impact.

Barry B

Im not disagreeing that we are awful at times, and the results arent making me very happy. However calling for a managers head is something those ...other... lesser fans do. Your chavski, man city e.t.c. fans. We pride ourselves on being the best fans. Looks like we are sinking to the other fans levels now!

Have you got any info on villyan bijev and how is he doing in Germany

Thatracoonstolemybacon

{Ed001's Note - last I heard, he was struggling to get into a second division side in Germany, Bijev I mean. But he is just a kid, far too soon to expect much, this is just a chance to gain experience really.}

So far he has played (and started) in 10 matches , scoring 3 goals. Eight of those games have been in the last eleven that Fortuna have played so he seems to be a regular at the moment. Incidentally,in his 2nd match he scored two goals and received a yellow. One of his opponents also received a yellow - one of Gerard Houllier's 'Golden Boys' - Anthony le Tallec.
Dutchmal

Well just checked it one soccerway.com, he has started in 11 games for them and has scored 3 goals. So, its good that he is playing regularly in the first team. YNWA

He made the bench for the Dusseldorf first team for the first time in their last match, so it seems like he may get a bit of a run towards the end of the season with them.

DP

He had problems with an injury. I believe he was doing very well for the reserves, or whereever he was, but he got sidelined for several months. Good to hear he's recovered.

That poor chap who was on the banter page at 16:16 yesterday , he had given his season ticket away , one person replied that he should be on suicide watch , ( which I thought was extremely funny at the time ) , well it hasn't worked out too good for him and , apparently he asked for the following on his headstone :-

2012 L D L W D L L L W L L

Must be some sort of secret message , any ideas anyone ?

A journalist once asked whether football was a matter of life and death , our manager replied '' it was much more important than that '' .

Shankly had transitional years too , the difference was that his players would go through a brick wall if he asked them to and didn't spend their entire careers waiting for the next big money move .

Ed..great site..good work..
Leme post my comments..
People here says..under kenny we play better football..good football...but we dont win the game..
thsi is nonsense...wen u play good football..you win games...real, barca, they play good football...and they win too..
but in our case..we have excuse..everytime..coz we fans always supports our club in thick and thins......
just imagine the condition..
barca is dominating the world..winning everything..
if they loose next 5 games..and they dont win the la liga for an year..their manager is sacked...
they dont say..we are playing good footbal...
In football.results matters..
you win or loose..you dont have 3rd options...
and we are doing horrible on the pitch now..

I think we need to bring rafa back..
do u guys think any other world class manager will come to us?
jose, no chance, AVB...no..
when They see our squad the ywill laugh?? it will take either yeasr for them to make into CL..or they will sell these players immediatly........ {Ed001's Note - Athletic Bilbao play great football, but they have lost double figures of games, it doesn't always follow.}

Surely a draw is a 3rd option

The third option is called a draw.

Not a rumour but I am interested in finding out what the rest of the Lpool fans feel about Sterling being brought into the first team fold playing regularly. Is it to soon? should we send him out on loan? or is he ready now?

My personal opinion is that he is ready. He wont be a world beater straight away but experience is key. If any one has any information about what the plans are with him that would be great as im having trouble finding out anything at the moment.

Thanks eds keep up the great work.

RAH, YNWA

Ability wise he's more than ready physically i don't think so.

Square tomato

His grandmother (she raised him) wants him out of liverpool and to live with other family in london, He got 2 girls in liverpool pregnant within 2 weeks of each other, he's very young and she doesnt like the crowd he's hanging around with in liverpool, she wants him to go back to QPR but id expect him to sign 4 spurs in the summer, he wont be in liverpool thats for sure, davey

I do not see any reason at the moment , why he cannot appear for the last 15 minutes of each of our games this season .

Based on his debut he appears to be unfazed and he excites the fans , I think it would be great to see how he fares little by little before the end of the season .

Qwerty

If what the poster says about Sterling is true, we need shot of this guy ASAP.

Some talented youngsters will simply never make it because the bright lights turn their heads. And then they become a problem for the club. Sad, but true.

Do they sell condoms in London then?

i really am quite embaressed by alot of so called liverpool fans around at the moment! its either ridiculous amounts of negativity or just dilussion! we are not the dominent european force we used to be or even on our oown soil but we are improveing and you have to be able to see that its easy to sit on the other side of a screen and say hes s**t hes f*****g etc........ But at the end of the day the ones alot of you are moaning at are kids!!! try seeing the negatives in there play and they all have them you just need to watch a game propally not sat there shouting screaming when were not 8-0 up at halftime. at the end of the day stop bringing us alll down with you if you want to be negative and miserable all the time go and support arsenal utd or chelsea we will gradually improve and we will get up to the top just be paitient and 1 more thing get of there backs kenny and all staff included!!!!!!!!

Improving, hmmmmm

Assuming that Kenny did buy the 'worst liverpool players for years' and sell Carroll Adam Downing and Henderson, does it not make the cup win even more impressive? Let's face it,he has already won more with that one trophy than most current managers in the EPL. So,if he managed to beat Chelski,Stoke,Citeh all away from home with the worst players we have signed in years, does that not give us an indicator of Kennys managerial prowess? Current form aside of course. Spurs,Arsenal and Chelsea will all testify to form playing a big part. We have hit our lowest form of the season at the worst time, nothing more. WelshBoyDave

Impressive? We beat a championship team on penalties after 120 minutes, Not very impressive considering cardiff were dead on their feet after 80 minutes.

If Mcleish's Carling Cup is impressive then possibly

Their not going to sell a young player like Henderson after 1 season.
They Luckily Didn't sell Lucas after one season!!

Lyndon

''Impressive? We beat a championship team on penalties after 120 minutes''

No. What was impressive is that we beat Chelsea and Man City on our way to the final! This may suprise some people that don't fully understand how cup competitions work, but they usually involve more than one game.

MR EM

Lucas is over rated, People only thought he was having a good season because he looked a better player than he actually was when he was playing with adam, downing, henderson etc, gerrard wasnt there so lucas looked like messi or something, besides, he might not even come back the same player after his injury, hopefully im wrong

Lucas is the great example of a young player joining the mighty LFc and requiring a period of time to really establish what he wants to do with his Anfield career .

Jordan Henderson deserves our patience that is for sure .

I was a massive Lucas hater but im soooooo glad to say he had big time proved me wrong. Most improved player in prem over last 12-18 months and a huge loss to our team this season. With his energy in front of the back 4 our season could of been a little different. Big big loss

Lets face it people. We need to spend at least 250m on about 10 new players and replace the manager but it wont happen because we dont have that kind of money. Our current squad is possibly our worst since the early 90's and with the rise of Man City and the continued absence from the Champions league, we will not attract any big names to the club to replace the dross (Adam,Caroll,Hendersen,Maxi,Downing,Kuyt,Johnson) that is so badly needed. Im completely sold on the possibility that the club has started and will continue to struggle to finish higher than 5th for the next 5 seasons. It breaks my heart but we have to get used to the fact that we are not a force in the Leauge anymore. Sorry fellow reds!!

Your obviously a computer game manager, I think there are a lot of genuine fans on here who have supported the club for decades and realise that even the great shanks took timeto build a great team. So for the so called fans? Like you who seem Tobermory flooding the sits at the momment, do us all a favour and p*ss off to support man city for your bought in instant success. Because I'm tired of you all moaning constantly.
Constructive critisism we can all deal with but a lot on here recently is absolute crap!

Eds

Do you have knowledge on which players we have missed out on in recent years and if there was anyone to blame in them not arrivng?

If my memory serves me right we supposedly lost out on Silva (due to Parry) Kompany (lack of funds so we bought Skrtel) Llorente (not for sale bought Caroll instead).

Thanks

Long live the King {Ed001's Note - I have listed loads in the past, I keep saying I will have to put a comprehensive list of them up on the site, but it is finding the time to do so.}

Don't its just upsetting to see them playing so well for other teams.. Let's just look the future, the future is bright with fsg.

Dani Alves was in the bag for £10 million but we couldn't afford him and Kuyt together. Simao was on the flight and Benfica got greedy and asked for more money, which we wouldn't pay. If I remember correctly Vidic turned us down so we opted for Skrtel. Carroll was third choice behind Lorrente and Gomez. Aguero was deemed to costly for his age, when Athletico signed him for £17 million.

There are loads others. That said I'm happy we got players like Masch, Agger, Lucas (who was wanted by around 5 others), Maxi (for free), Torres, Alonso, Garcia, Aurelio (when fit) and who can forget Andrey Voronin (only kidding).

Papa G

Dont think putting a list up of players weve missed out on would be a great idea i can think of a few that i know of myself ed an it depresses me bigtime lol.
what player dani alves would have been for us lol

belfast red adam

Who can forget Gareth Barry, if Rafa hadn't been so desperate for him to sign he wouldn't have upset Xabi. I remember at the time the majority of reds fans saying get Silva forget Barry. In the end we got no Barry, no Silva but Robbie Keane!

Surely if a player is not for sale then we haven't missed out on them.
KernowRed

Dani Alves is an attacking fullback, imagine all the numpties on here if he played for us and got caught just once out of position. Our supporters love to watch attacking players with other sides and say how great they are: But if we have any they tend not to like them and are highly critical of their defensive qualities. See Glen Johnson?
kidmillions

Dani Alves - yes, great going forwards, but, apart from his not so great defence, if people think Suarez is OTT with his supposed 'acting', he hasn't got a patch on Alves! I don't think I've ever seen a player act like a spoilt brat so much, and that includes mrs Ronaldo and mrs bale! Nick.

John Barnes is absolutely right! We need three world class players. It could be Munian, Llorente and Martinez. But we cannot buy them, because his name is Kenny not Rafa

Athletic aren't going to sell all of their top 3 players. Plus they'd cost in excess of 100 million. That said I would love to have all of those three players.

Papa G

Munian is hardly 'world class'.

Hey You Guys ...here's a valid question...

Now that LFC is no longer classed as ''big 4''
i.e. Not expected to win every game and lose to struggling teams...at home

Wouldn't you agree with me that, your own aspirations are now almost Identical to teams like NUFC... Stoke and Sunderland ???
(Of course they already have modern Stadia

which gives them an edge over you )

Blue247

Yeah you are absolutely right. But I think, a year from now, we are number 4.

...and you support Everton? I see you have mentioned NUFC, Stoke and Sunderland ahead of you.

AG

AG...Now thats not in the spirit of things is it?
I will take your reply as a YES:)

and you are right I am an Evertonian...
I fail to see where I placed any team ahead the mighty Blues...

Of course you are in denial about your Club I understand this...however we must still try and restrain ourselves from petulance and the like :))))

Blue247

Why is an Everton fan on our page? Oh i forgot you are bitter and only enjoy football through the hate of another club instead of through the love of the team you support. What an awful way to enjoy football, thank god i support Liverpool and don't have to spend my time trolling other teams pages.

MR EM

Our aspirations never change regardless whether its blind faith or high standards we always want and expect the best.unlike NUFC sunderland we beat the top 6 teams bar spurs it is everyone below us we struggle with , i think its called big game mentality sooner rather then later we have the right attitude .The problem when we were winning titles was everyone was a little team so same attitude game in game out .

For me the problem could be worse we could consider ourselves in the third tier with Everton supporters .

Mr EM.... I'll take that as a bad tempered frustrated teedoff pi$$edoff downright I hate football sometimes ........YES:)

"The Irritation of King Kenny"

There was the obvious sound of something being beaten last night as Huntelaar and Llorente were in action on Thursday night football. No sooner had the game finished than a few posters lapsed into brain fade and started posting about how we should sign them - maybe they should have used the TEMPLATE so helpfully posted in this section last night!

It all seems a sheer waste of time. Buying players is possibly as important as organising the tactics. Not the actual BACS transfers of the fees, but more the scouting and assessment of such players. That's the real skill and one of the reasons why I am in the Damien Comoli fan camp. If there have been issues about our buys then it seems to me it is more about the roles they were bought for, rather than their potential and current abilities.

There are hundreds of us out there who have been junior, senior, school, weekend and midweek football managers. From the highly excitable U10s to the gnarled and slightly slow Sunday morning Old Boys' teams. Managing that lot is often about who can play, who can run and who is big enough. Take Andy Carroll as an example: I'm not his biggest fan although I do believe he has something we can use and be rewarded with. Yet the question is, why is he not playing at the top of the line and Suarez, Gerrard and Kuyt feeding off him?

This is maybe not as simple to outline as I hoped it would be. A giant of a man with his heading ability is a player I wish to see with his back to the goal, holding off the defenders and feeding others to score. Yet AC seems to spend a lot of his time chasing the play forward as free running striker. This is a personal opinion and I claim no great technical knowledge, but I do ask what is his best role for us? Suarez is all over the shop - bursting in from the right, left, side, back and anywhere he fancies! Kuyt wanders in from outside the box (right) and Steven Gerrard comes from a three mile lung-busting charge into the box from anywhere deep!

That leaves us with a need for a striker in the mode I suggested. Or maybe not if we play to the tactics defined by KK and his team. I'm slightly confusing myself here! Probably what I'm trying to say is that AC and the rest of the strikers seem to be too far apart to be really effective. It's just another fan with his own view of things, yet it only leads me into my real point - the selection of future players.

Not for a minute do I think we select poor players - really, not even Henderson or Downing - but I ask what the policy is when it comes to positions.

Again - I do NOT have answers and don't complain I ask questions and never offer solutions. That's what fans do. They ask and wait for the people earning big, big money to tell us what we need to do. So when I ask how we buy strikers and how we deploy them, I'm expecting KK or SC to tell me how and why (well that's the ideal scenario)

Those clamouring for Huntelaar - "he'd be a great buy as he scored on TV!" - should ask why and where would he play? He tends to drift ACROSS the box and snap up chances, but so does Suarez, so who puts the pressure on the central defenders if we play two up front? I'm not going into a number of these examples, suffice to say as interesting as Huntelaar is, why would we need him with LS and AC? Unless we play AC in the role I suggest and use just LS OR J-KH? Or we drop AC and play one up front? Or we ......

Same with the midfield and defence. There has to be a plan and doubtless there is. So they don't tell me or I can't work it out. I can live with that as well. Or maybe they do act like we do and want those players we have seen simply because they are 'great' and then let's see where we can fit them in later.

All this team selection, team building, player recruitment and management is not as simple as it looks or sounds. It is to the credit of most PL managers and coaches that it works in the main. Still won't stop me asking questions. I'm interested in any responses from other posters that may shed an different light on the striker selection. Maybe it is a case of just buying 'great' players or maybe it should be about the overall jigsaw. Answers on a postcard and avoid calling yourself a 'real fan!'

Finally, at the risk of upsetting another poster. This was posted earlier today:
"We are on our journey now and it is obvious to all the other clubs in the prem that its only a matter of time before Liverpool arrive. In the meantime lets enjoy the journey together as true fans ...."

I just can't deal with this endless optimism and trite, maybe even deluded hope. There is no guarantee we are going to complete this journey. Yes, we can always hope, but it is hardly 'obvious' to any other clubs that we will do what the posting suggests. Why? Just because we are LFC? Just because we have a few bob in the pipeline? Doesn't work for me. I want my Liverpool Fc planning to be based on more than hope and a few pints down the pub. I don't believe in any god or afterlife, any miracles or religious trash (religion is like Herpes and best kept to yourself) but at least the faithfully deluded do appreciate that everything has a finite life!

Steve Parker

Ed0001: I'm happy to be criticised and expect it. Not everyone will agree with what I write and so what? If it's personal abuse, let it run. So many posters are superfans or know more about the game and club than anyone else in the known universe. They may feel what I write is utter drivel/shi*e/tosh - not a worry.
The way I look at it - when you don't have much else to say and hate anyone else doing what you can't then you flame. Tell me I'm a loser, useless, a no-mark, no nothing about the game and write crap. Just don't tell me in the same breath you can write more than your name on a betting slip!

I was of the assumption that the policy for buying british last summer was 'partly' because we was struggling to fill our own homegrown quota at the time? the requirements we had made buying and selling initially limited.
everyone has been so quick to question the abilities and qualities of our buys but surely they were all stand out performers in their areas before we bought them, only a crystal ball for kenny could've changed the decisions which were made and there's nothing to say that we may see a marked improvement come the 2nd/3rd seasons for them. a need for british players WAS evident at least to tie us in with our own homegrown quota, i believe it isn't now and the club will use this window to tinker. i'd expect the next arrivals to be of varied nationalities come this summer. just my opinion though.

not a kneejerk fan.

In reply to Steve Parkers post, I respect his opinion however he is at the opposite end of the optimistic scale to me Im afraid.

Personally if I was unhappy with anything in life, as Steve is with LFC, I would not waste any more time getting myself even more depressed. I would go and find another hobby.

Me ? im just a happy supporter who loves supporting LFC without over analysing everything and looking on the dark side of everey situation.

if I was you Steve, Id go get a life with either another hobby or another team.

....but thats just my personal opinion sir

Nice post. carroll for me needs to be sold, not because i dont like him, i just dont see him as a future solution. we cannot carry £35m players, we are not chelsea or real madrid etc.
suarez is an excellent player but is far too wasteful for my liking; for every moment of genius there is 3 moments of lost possesion. i hate to say it but watch rooney or aguero play and they rarely give the ball away and although they may not beat a man like suarez can, they keep the pressure on the opposition. for me, suarez would be best behind a player in the mold of fowler or torres, constantly on the shoulder and poaching when need be.

i love suarez but he needs to improve his decision making. i do sometimes feel he is a step ahead of everyone and thats why he seems wasteful but who knows. lastly, im not criticising carroll, but he's never going to be a future solution. yes he's a nice addition to the squad but for that money we couldve bought a better player.
thanks

I'm different than and far, far from unhappy with my life - currently lunching on the Singelgracht canal in Amsterdam and it's warm! All this talk about Carroll returning to Newcastle this weekend is doing my head in... The guy is Fookn useless he doesn't deserve a place in the starting 11 nor does he deserve a place on the bench.

If he's on the bus to Newcastle then I'd drop him off in the town centre outside Witherspoons and leave him there.

Curled1

Get behind your players!

What a prat nothing like supporting our players

Yeah. Sell Carroll when he's actually starting to get better. Did you know we've won something like 68% of the games when he started compared to 38% games when he didnt' start? No? Didn't think so. He should be starting week in, week out til the end of the season.

On that note shall gerrard be dropped as lfc win more without him than when he plays?

Reality check people, Carroll has not done nearly enough to warrant a starting position week in, week out. On his best day so far this season he has barely been average. let alone outstanding as some would say!

Steve

Witherspoons? was he not a boxer?

Guys just thought Id come on here to put a different perspective to some of the existing posters.

Our beloved team is not a title winning team just yet.

We have a number of flaws in our squad that still require honing. I will not name any players as Im sure some of them must come on here occasionally, but the main point that Id like to make is this:

We should have no doubts whatsoever that our manager Kenny, the owners, all the back room team....but most of all the players....DESPERATELY WANT TO WIN EVERY GAME.

The players have demonstrated that on their day, their football is a joy to watch, and this was never the case under Roy. They are trying their damndest to win. You only have to see the almost desperation in his face that young Henderson is showing. He wants to be a success here and given a little more time Im sure Kenny will get him working properly. His attitude is spot on.

I watched a rerun of the infamous 2011 LFC vs Man Utd game at anfield the other night, and believe me we were all over them like a rash, playing some superb football. Suarez was magnificent, as were the rest of the team.

Its easy to forget some of our finer performances this season but try watching some of the earlier games against the likes of Chelsea, City and Unartid, we were superb at times, absolutely breathtaking.

We are not good enough just at the moment and there is still some tinkering to do, but everyone knows this and no-one more than Kenny. He will get it right given patience and time but he needs our help to get behind the team.

One Cup and a guaranteed Euro place in his first full season after being out of the game for so long, is better than most managers achieve in a lifetime.

IF THERE IS ONE MAN WHO CAN LEAD US BACK TO OUR RIGHTFUL POSITION IT IS KENNETH MATHIESON DALGLISH.

Lets all get behind our magnificent manager, support our team like no other supporters can, but most of all lets start enjoying what is after all, the honour of being a true Liverpool supporter. Yes we may not win everything and there will be good and bad times, but that what makes it so beautiful to be a supporter of this great club.

Even if Unartid do manage to scrape another league title by dodgy ref decisions, ...so what ?....are their supporters really happy, I doubt it.

We are on our journey now and it is obvious to all the other clubs in the prem that its only a matter of time before Liverpool arrive. In the meantime lets enjoy the journey together as true fans....especially our latest Wembley adventure !

Tel 1949

Well said Tel. This is a long term project. Not good just now but things do change. We are not a club who changes Managers every season without good reason. Go back 30 years even the 80's team put in some poor performances. In those days fans didn't forums to moan, just the pub! We will be back where we belong. Have Faith you doubting morons!

Good post Tel. Shows passion for the club unlike Steve Parker's 4th form essays.

Best post in a long time YNWA

Redpath - he'll be pleased you read them on your days off from Uni!

Lets all get behind our magnificent manager, support our team like no other supporters can, but most of all lets start enjoying what is after all, the honour of being a true XXXX supporter. Yes we may not win everything and there will be good and bad times, but that what makes it so beautiful to be a supporter of this great club.

Just the same thing every other supporter of every club in the world says.

Redopath you must have a set idea in your mind about SP. He has great passion for the club. Whatd'you know?

Great positive post Tel. Really good way to look at our season and I definitely agree with you.

Yah perfect post at the right time, its no good critising the king and to call his head when we loose a game, we still have a cup which we couldnt materialise for 6 years. i am all optimistic about our club future. it surely will take time but we are heading to the right direction by the king leading us.

Rafa Benitez....! Is e everyine delusional here.. He is a poor manager.. He is a good scout. Appoint him to find good prospects not manage the team. Remember what he did to a UCL winning team of Inter Milan. Please stick with Kenny but he needs a better coaching staff and a lot better players so don't allow him to buy players. And if u guys really want new manager then i think we should go for a respected and established name. Capello and Mourinho will be free in summer bring them here... If they don't budge then let me handle the talking...!! ;)
Musicnation {Ed002's Note - Mourinho is contracted to Real Madrid and nort "free" in the summer.}

Oh really?? he was sacked 6 months after teh appointment due to poosr results...if thats teh criteria..then we should sack kenny too...he is a good manager...who won things...i mean medals..have KK won anything??/

Great post.

We have played great at times and terrible at times too, but if we put 3 class players into our 1st team get back Lucas , Gerrard fully fit, Carroll , Henderson ,Downing finally showing us what we know they can do, then we will be in for a good season next year.

'have KK won anything' mmm how about a League cup? also the potential domestic cup double if we beat the blue sh*te

will we make any transfers before the end of season? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Apple buying the glass uintctg machines has got this rumor, of curve glass implementation in contrast with the conventional metal finishing. The possible advantages for the much awaited iphone 5 is that it might be non-conductive and would have smooth surface to hold which will have a feature of acquiring perfect reception of the signals. However, having glass on the edges might be prone to the clumsy mistakes and thus must be handled with most care.

Andy Carroll

When he was at Newcastle and scoring who would have said it would be a bad time to sign him ? Get off his bk and give him the support he needs.

Jordan Henderson,

Same at sunderland good player who should get better, and has anyone seen him play for Englan u21s he looks far better due to us Liverpool fans not screaming for his blood. Get behind the young fella

Charlie Adam not to be mistaken for the misterious Charlie Adams,

At Blackpool he was a player to watch a lovely footballer great at taking freekicks maybe needs a lil time to settle into a huge club.

Just remember the total dross we have before these players? anyone remember, Poulson, El Zhar ,The Greek , Ngog , Just remember it could have been worse we could be watching Carlton cole , Luke young ....Makes me shudder.

A bit fed up with people saying how astute Kenny's buys seemed at the time. Hendo's form was shocking for Sunderland after his senior England call-up, Steve Bruce even commented that he had to pick his game up at the time. Also, many people expressed doubts about Charlie Adam's potential before he joined the club; doing well for a team in a relegation battle doesn't mean you're top four standard i'm afraid. He often faded out in the second half of games last year, as well as many commentators noting how poor his tackling and general defensive play was. As for Carroll, 35 million for six months of top flight football was stupid however you look at it, I know Kenny had other targets originally but we should have just held back till the summer when it became apparent those weren't possible.

So excited to see my favorite team in the world this summer when Liverpool play Roma at Fenway Park in Boston. I've always dreamed of going to Anfield but my current budget doesn't allow it. I'll be the loudest guy in the crowd with my stevie g jersey singing my lungs out for my beloved Reds. It's gonna be about a 5 hour drive from Philadelphia to Boston but I cant wait. Let's keep our heads up for the rest of this year and maybe grab the F.A Cup too. YNWA.

Hi Eds and Fellow Reds.

What is, "Operation Anfield Exercise", always hear it broadcast, is it some practise drill?.
Ps, I don't live in the UK, have only been to Anfield a few times.

Its a secret code telling Andy Carroll to take position at the back post while Stevie G uses him as a decoy to thread Suarez through on goal. They do the same manouvre every match but no other teams have cottoned on to it yet. Shhh

I have a very strong feeling FSG have already set the ball rolling! in the Echo today there was a full page on Rafa! how he'd wait 10 years to manage LFC again! if Kenny retire's in 10 year's i'll be waiting! i think he's had a tap on his shoulder! Kenny will go all out for the FA cup and go to the boardroom on a high citing stress! and his contract terminated by mutual consent! just got a feeling!

Fingers crossed

I dont knwo about that...KK is a legend..but not a good manager..he has given chance to all the youngsters..which is remarkable...rafa..is an absolute tactical manager..he knows how to win games...which is more important...he managed clubs which were not finacially great..but still did a great bit of job..some dont like his style, some his arrogance..but the end..he wins the games...its as simple as that.......

Did he win games at inter

I hope for neither Rafa, nor Houllier, nor Evans, nor any more former players, but for someone young, with fresh ideas, who is good at man management.

It is time for our club to look forward, not back.

when are we going to win the title ???

Come on guys , every new manager comes in , we say give the chap few years.....so every new manager given few years and they deliver fa cup and carling cups or none .........
It basically shows we are in the same standard as Chels, Arsenal or MU....they produce results on the pitch ......
plz stop giving excuses and deliver .......

we the fans know what players can produce and which cannot ......

Stewart Downing : he is an average player but why pay 20 mill ?

Adams : average squad player and 6 or 7 mill is ok

Henderson : what the hell was KK thinking when he splash 20 mill ? Phil Jones is a better player or even jonjo plays better . the 20 mill could have spent on foreign best player......all i say is KK and Como did not look further than premiership ??

Carroll : overpaid no doubt but to over come this AC shud produce goals .....link up with midfield .........

What ever paid is done..cant take that back..if given a chance..KK himself sould sell all these if he could get 50% back...now..only thing we neeed to do..play them, play them..coz..if they dont..no resale value..measn bigger loss....

I've been watching David texeria play and I can see a few flaws in his game. He is not really dynamic in his play, I feel that premeir league defenses can easily pick up his movements. Also, he needs a high Ammount of service, like direct balls to his head and feet, much as our own any Carroll, though he maybe be more clinical, I feel that luuk de Jong will be the better option. Now luuk vs matias Suarez, neither one have many noticeable flaws right off the bat. I'm sure our scouts and find some, but well I feel they would both cut it, now luuk de Jong, he is Dutch and the dutch/ people from the league there tend to adapt quickly to the premier league and also he is stronger and also looks to posses a bit of pace ( so does matias) but as u said before, small quick strikers peak at 25 while target men like Luuk peak at 27. Jackson Martinez, one player I feel worried about as I have seen him play and fear that he is a bit of an gamble, climate for him would be a change. He does have pace, strength, decent ball controll, and good finishing, but can he handle the premier league defenses sheer brutality? Soldado is one I'm not even going to comment on, people know who he is, and his record with valencia ( but do they know his record at real Madrid?)
Thanks eds for they hard work
Thank you for your time.

Why what happened at Real Madrid with Solado?

Get to watch alot of colombian and mexican league games on your travels then do you mate? thanks for the club scouting missions for jackson martinez and also for the time you've spent scouring europe watching these players, lfc must be very thankful.
seriously, flaws in them all? youtube montages have come a long way....

Actally I live in the us, and espn can get you those channels of you pay extra. I never said I watched the players play their live games, I don't use YouTube like some of you. Your welcome

In the summer we MUST address our wing problems, and sign a PROPER wide man. One who has pace, can beat a man, scores goals, has a good cross, basically the whole package. No more centre mids/strikers played on the wing, average players playing for mid table/relegation candidate teams, we need young, prooven (at a good level), foreign, exciting talent at our club because those are the players that win you titles and gain you access to the champions league!!

RDR

Luciano Narsingh should be the man we're looking at.

-Shane.

Luciano Narsingh is an excellent player, reminds me of Jefferson Farfan, but I think slightly more skillfull and quicker, and this season, he has matured a lot.

just a thought, i think when the rules kick in regarding how many home grown players you have to have in your squad that alot of prem teams are gonna struggle but with kk buying the cream of young home grown british talent and hopefully adding to it this summer with some top european players, we will see the fruits of his labour come next season , i know this season we were expecting cl footy and like all of you i'm dissapointed we havent achieved it, but look what we have achieved , won one cup and got ourselves a all merseyside semi at wembley, for those us who where there in the 80s for those special games you know how crazy the atmosphere will be and we have european footy for next season, so all in all i think this has been a succesful season and we have built the foundations of a great team that can and will go on to be at the top table of european football once again.

YNWA

tommy c

Also just imgaine..if we loose that mersyside game....soon u will post something different about KK

Top European players...? Are u dreaming..? Who will come here..? See how badly our own players are being treated.. And when people moan about wages and high price tags just go to Man Utd last 15 years flop buys.. It takes lots of money to win the league.. We have just started.. Be patient..
And not just Utd loom at Chelsea also remeber Shevchenko and Robben for example.?

Ed001 Did you once say we bear signed Raul one time? How close was it?

YNWA {Ed001's Note - the usual issue, Parry messed it up when it was only really needing a final agreement.}

I really do not like that person Parry! sorry i pressed the P 1st Ed's

How long ago was this? When Raul was near his prime or when he was starting to wane?

If from January, we've only picked up 8 points and we're still only a few points behind 5th surely we were not as bad as everyone was making out in the first half of the season? People got on the players back and it all went to pot through pressure.

BthekingB

Maybe its just that any team from 4th down has also been playing rubbish in the league since January.

Melbourne CFC

Hha i love the Liverpool page.

How about it's the most competitive the premier league has ever been top to bottom rather. at melbourne cfc, if the bottom 16 are playing so bad then how is brendan rodgers odds on to get swansea team of the year? well thought out though?!
