Im watching the France Brazil game, 98.

I was 7 at the time, and never really learned what all the fuss about ronaldo was. Like i think he was injured or something?

Could a poster or ed explain it to me?! ( i know its not lfc so i will add this )

Are we going to sign Rivaldo eds?!

Benny baller

They say it was an injury Benny mate. But some also say and I think too, his head wasn't right. All the expectation and pressure seems to have been to much. And some say the manager didn't want to play him but the Brazil football federation and Ronaldo's and Brazil's main sponsors (Nike) put pressure on the manager to start him.

I'll never forget his face on tv when cameras went on him in the line-up. He looked like he was taking part in a police line-up and was guilty as sin.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

You dont really know much about football do you, Ronaldo is a legend, so you saw 98, but haven't seen 2002, you would have been 11, player of the tournament 8 goals, great player with real Madrid

Jokes like that have been done to death. they've now lost their humour.
derryred

Cheers blaine. Other two, youre moranic. Derry, it wasnt a joke, just thought it might not get posted otherwise. All i remember from said game was that he wasnt on the team sheet, then ended up on it.

Eds, is reina leaving still a possibility? Also unrelated I am hearing from a good source that tottenham are being taken over by some of the royal Qatari family and it will be announced in the next few days. Looks like we have another man city on our hands!

Cheers Neored {Ed002's Note - Anyone leaving has to be a possibility but I know nothing of it.}

hey eds i dont expect any signing till the squad return for training and B.R. gets a chance to assess the players. do u think we should wait till then before expecting signings to be announced ?

Thanks

Can you confirm if a bid from juve has actually been launched {Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation - read the posts.}

You'd be excited to lose one of our best players for someone who will clearly not be able to play in the premier league?

I'm sorry but I've had 7/8 long post on blocked on here, I asked why but nothing I did not put anything bad in them just that I tried to get some people to look from anther point ov view ,if you ed don't want me to post that please say coz I like the site,but don't want to waste 10/15 min writing post if they not up to your ok ,this not a dig at you ed s ,feel like I'm wasting my time I don't offer much to the site ,so will not be offended Lfc linc {Ed002's Note - I have never seen a post signed by "LFC Linc" let alone blocked one.}

Like I sed it was not a dig ,or did I say that Ed 002 had blocked me ,I don't know how it works ,just seem strange to me that every time I ,you know wot never mind ,Ed 002 easy tiger, I was not being funny it might seem a stupid question to you but not to me coz I don't know the answer ,great site keep up the gd work ,sorry about the misunderstanding ,
YNWA lfc linc {Ed001's Note - it could easily be the length of the post exceeding the limit for posting, though I doubt it. Usually it is an unusual character or the post having http:// that stops them coming through. Those are usually swept up by the spam filters.}

Get ready for some bargin bin shoping.the yonks won't be splashing the cash.when we clearly needed a striker in jan the didn't dip into the market.as for sig if he has to think about which club he wants to play for why would we want him.there shouldn't be anything to think about he should be jumping at the chance to play for lfc.i think we may all be disapointed after this window is closed.

Maybe they didn't "splash the cash" in January because of Kenny's previous signings not being that great?

Yeah, I have to agree with the 2nd poster. I'm pretty sure Kenny would've wanted to bolster the squad in Jan - especially as we'd lost Lucas to injury by then. They probably didn't trust him to make the right decisions and said we had to work with the squad we had; hence Adam 6 Spearing playing in a role they weren't cut out to do

Commolli didn't help with his "The squad is now complete" comment either!

I like to think that we have enough young players coming through and maybe be they are quality. I belive BR will give them a chance and players like Coady, Adoran, Texeira, Morgan are our future. BR is a young players manager that's why he was chosen, so will all you people slating the team and rogers before sa ball is kicked and you please f***O** and support another team

Sigurdsson's father: "Gylfi wants to play at the highest level possible - every player wants to do that but the opportunity has to be right. "He hasn't made up his mind yet. There are plenty of clubs interested in him. There are some in Germany, but Gylfi wants to play in England."The main aim for Gylfi is to be in as good a team as he can be and play for the best club possible. He is no different to anyone else."Liverpool and Tottenham are both in Europe next season so that is not the question. "I have seen the stories that he is demanding a certain amount of money per week and they are rubbish. He just wants a normal salary and be on the same as other players at the club.The bottom line is he just wants to play and the main thing football-wise is to find the right team which will suit him the most."It always helps when you know the coach like Brendan Rodgers. He is a very good trainer. But does that mean Liverpool? Maybe, maybe not. "He is thinking what is best to do and will have a decision by Sunday."

Who cares, and who does his father think he is? messi? there is too many players better then him that play in his position, time for our scouts to do what they are paid for and start spotting talent otherwise i would sack the lot of them.RedTurk

I agree RedTurk mate. It won't bother me at all, if he went to Spurs. Like you say mate he isn't Messi.

Eds im a bit confused. Ive read the posts and im clear that we didnt meet Hoffenheims price for Sigurdsson and thats the reason he probably won't sign. But then im reading that its down to wage demands and i thought Sigurdsson would prefer to join us rather than spurs even if we gave a lower wage.
Thanks,
Josh {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the player wants, sorry.}

Well Eds, it's been fun. I've been a fan of this site for ages, post alot but without an alias. But I've come to the end of the road. I'm sick of coming onto the page and reading post upon post of people slating the eds and macca. I'm sick of coming on and looking at posts written by obviously intelligent people, with a bit f perspective, bein trashed by idiots moaning about them not mentioning cavani or lavezzi or Messi or some other 85+ rated player on FIFA.

I'm sick to death of all the fans moaning about FSG or Brendan Rodgers when they've really only just got in the door. I'll be back, but I'm off for a while.( although I doubt it matters much)

Good luck Eds with the next wave of twittering sly fuelled idiocy.

It will be a shame to see a genuine poster go try again in a few month see if if it has died down i doubt it tho i found this sight about2 year ago and have been visiting it every day at least 6 times a day and iv never seen such negativity as the last few month's it gets you down reading the same rubbish day after day fsg no money brendan no clue what has happened to our great club thats the standard of player we can expect now honestly don't no why if people cant have a little positivity they feel the need to try drag every one else down oh well posters like yourself will be missed like i said if we win our first5 come back should be different or if we sign a 25 million player who knows dont hold your breath tho lol

Cool story bro

30 Jun 2012 20:38:11
Re Davies, you don't need to spend big to sign talent. Joe Hart, Cabye, Ba, the lad Kagagawa was a snip for Dortmund. The talent is allowing them to flourish. So give BR and his signing a chance

Rant...
There's alot of people on here that are showing them selves up. Some of the posts are more than stupid.
Players we're getting linked to are either not good enough, or when they get linked to another club they were the best player we never had.
Some of you's mongs need to wind your neck in.
Whoever Rodgers brings in should be backed 100%.
Rodgers himself should be backed 100%.
Look at Chelsea... Shevchenco and Torres cost a furtune yet never fitted in to how they play, great players they are.
Look at Leon Britton. Went to Shef Utd and struggled to hold down a starting place. Went back to Swansea and was up with the likes of Xavi and iniesta etc for pass completion rates in european football.
I couldn't give a flying finger what "name" we sign big or small. Round peg round hole, square peg square hole. If Rodgers gets this right we will improve dramatically. No question.
Rogders, and Rodgers alone knows his system best. Whoever he signs will be for a footballing reason far beyond the comprehension of some gimp on here.
I personally am excited by the prospect of the combination of Rodgers and some of the players we already have at the club, providing he came get them to play. Thats the key... making us play. Some players might be suited to Rodgers (eg.... the Britton situation) and could blossom. Some players might not. Time will tell.
This summer, the most important work will be on the training ground. Not in the transfer market.
But, If he does sign players he thinks will improve the squad then we have to trust him. Then back the team 100% from the off.

Shmickles

Brilliant post... 100% agree

Well said Scmickles mate, as i said earlier, its about looking at the bigger picture, as you say mate, it doesnt matter if you cost 300k or 30 million, as long as they improve our team, At last someone who speaks common sense

R_R

Anyone who can use "mongs" and "gimp" in a post is ok in my book. Your post made total sense as well.
jonnybarnes89-90

Spot on mate.
Scouse_Pride

Couldnt of said it better myself. And laughed at 'mongs' haven't heard it for ages. Look at England for the past 10 years; always trying to fit the best 11 players on the page and have looked crap (mostly) for those 10 years. ANyway spot on mate.

Barca accepted an 8 million euro bid from Lille for Afellay, the player rejected the move.. get in there Rodgers, a player of his quality going that cheap is a signing of the Summer. Get in.
The Gooch.

He rejected the move because he doesnt want to play in france. he wants to go to a team in spain, england or germany with champions league football, rules us out

Would the europa not be enough to satisfy him for the first year but at that price dont think we would loose money one good season we could get double

I am not a big fan of squad overhauls and would rather we just buy 1 or 2 quality young players who will majorly improve us like Munian and Ramirez. If injuries occur as they do we have some great young players who can be given their chance. They might even make that position their own
Thanks jc.

More of a curious question for the Eds. Which players, from the clubs the other Eds support, would you like to 'Poach' in order to make your teams better and why? I think Ed002 is a Chelsea fan, I believe he/she would like Modric at the Blues. So, Spurs supporting Eds, who would you poach to replace Modric? Etc Etc... I know MY list of players i'd like Liverpool to poach is laughably lenthy. LOL ...I hope this doesn't start a massive argument. :-)

Stevie. {Ed002's Note - No doubt there is plenty from me about Modric.}

So we can knock another target off our list, Juventus have agreed a deal with Bologna for Ramirez. {Ed016's Note - Aren't the papers still as useless as always? Nothing concrete ever linked us to him. I think he would be a fantastic signing ofcourse so fingers crossed.}

Where did you hear this?RedTurk

According to the Uruguayan portal 'Futbol.com / uy' there are two clubs ready to take the playmaker of the Bologna Gaston Ramirez in this market window that should already submitted an official offer to clubs in Emilia. One of the two teams would be Liverpool, while the other still do not know the name, but all roads lead to Wolfsburg, and assumes as in an interview from the player's agent. Despite the 20 million required by the Bologna for his card, Ramirez remains one of the hottest names in the European market also Juventuas, Inter and Napoli ready to come into play for the number 10 red and blue. Evening Eds & Reds

I'd like to know if people think Junior Hoilett is good enough for LFC?

Yes: Believable
No: Unbelievable

Thanks

Coxy82

Is any player good enough for lfc

Junior Hoillet is in advanced talks with Newcastle, Wages and length of contract are agreed, Just has to pass a medical and will sign the deal on Monday

He's signing for Newcastle

If they are good enough for Newcastle, they are good enough for us. Magpies have been on a rampage in the transfer market. Yes or no?

Thanks for the feedback, I saw the Newcastle story & it just made me wonder what calibre of player we'll end up signing if we're to improve our league position

Grêmio full-back Fabio Aurelio will miss six months of action with knee ligament damage, having been expected to make his debt, following a move from Liverpool, this weekend.

Fabio Aurelio, 32, was a regular on the treatment table during his time at Anfield and has unfortunately continued the trend, even before the official start of his Grêmio contract on July 1.

The uncapped left full-back managed just 87 league appearances in six years at Anfield and returned to Porto Alegre earlier this month.

Unfortunately, the club have confirmed the injury's occurrance and estimate the recovery period at six months.

Nothing new in that a gust of wind may have hit him

He needs to retire!

Ed, now Kuyt is gone we only really have 3 recognised strikers.. I believe we need 4/5 signings this summer and would not at all be surprised if we signed Luuk De Jong and Gaston Ramirez.. My question for you Ed is do you think Brendan Rodgers will get the financial backing from the owners to sign 4/5 good players? Would 60m be a bit much in your opinion? Cheers mate.
DublinRed. {Ed002's Note - The owners will be supportive I am sure. Perhaps all of the youngsters could be sold to raise some money as everyone seems to only be interested in buying players - not promoting from within.}

Hi Eds, if Suarez goes what will happen to his friend Coates? He was signed to Suarez company? Wasn't he? Personally I think Suarez is staying he owes the club and fans who stood by him. {Ed002's Note - I would very much doubt that Coates was signed to keep Suarez company. If Suarez goes, perhaps a labrador for Coates.}

Ye a guide dog because there super cool and call d pooch gaston suarez to keep the big man happy

Sorry could be wrong but thought we signed Coates because he best young player ov copa A ,few years back when everyone raving on on about that team ,to be honest if that happen this summer ,and spurs or Chelsea sighed him ,they would be a lot ov tears on here ,why this,way that to slow again ,m8 Coates is no one s towel ball ,here there coz he was highly thought ov and we jumped in fast ,then again wot do I know ,just give the lad some credit

Hey guys, what's the problem with mark davies? I went to school with sparky and was in the wolves youth team when sparky was their. He has captained england at youth level and I can tell you he has been watched be a number of huge clubs so far in his career. A big talent, easily better then henderson, spearing and adam. A very good signing at 5mill

Cm sucks

You were in wolves academy with him wanna join an astro team could do with some good talent.i tried to get aurelio but hes broke up again

Why is it that Liverpool is possibly the most talked aboout club in the country on transfers, but it seems to me that we have done the least business of any club in the country.
Is it possible that we are doing business but are trying to keep it under wraps or are we just not doing anything.
Love to hear back what you think eds.

Hi ed's/macca
Do you think a couple of deals this summer will be done without you guys informing us on here of it happening? A name that's not yet been mentioned or someone like Ramirez and is announced a bit out of nowhere. I'm only saying this as I get the impression that we seem to be better now at conducting things behind closed doors. Interesting to know what you think? Great site btw {Ed049's Note - There is always a possibility.}

The ed's have been constantly saying that Gaston Ramirez has not been in any talks with Liverpool as of yet, but there still remains frequent and numerous articles stating that we have agreed a deal from several sources. Is this just a rumour spiralling out of control or is it possible that we are trying to get a deal done behind closed doors.

REALITY CHECK FOR SOME PEOPLE ON HERE...

The last 3 seasons we have finished 7th, 6th and 8th. This is not good, Especially last year after Kenny spent over 100m on Carroll, Coates, Adam, Downing and Henderson. Basically, We are miles behind City, Arsenal, United, Chelsea. And yes we are still a bit behind Newcastle and Spurs.

So can everyone stop spouting on about our ''rivals'' make all these signings like Kagawa, Hazard, Podolski, Powell, Marin, Giroud etc. We can not attract that type of player anymore. Its really that simple.

Every day i can on here and people are hounding the Eds saying are we signing Soldado, Tello, Munian, Ramirez, Llorente, Pedro, M Suarez etc, Its not going to happen people. Why do you think we are being linked with average players like De Jong, Sigurdsson, Caulker, Moses, Borini, Kalou, Traore etc ?

Kenny wasted 100m on Downing, Carroll, Henderson, Adam and Coates last season and FSG will not be giving us major money to bring in new players. Which is why Joe Cole is coming back. So is Aquilani but he will move on if we can find anyone who wants to buy him.

But, Of those average players we have being linked with we cant even get any of them in, Rodgers had Caulker, Borini and Sigurdsson before and still they turned us down.

And to the people saying Sig has only turned us down for money, Dont be so bitter, Spurs have a lot more going for them than we do, Im just being brutally honest, AVB is already in place to take over so stop saying why would sig go somewhere with no manager. We all know AVB had trouble keeping Drogba, Cech, Cole, Lampard, Terry and Torres in check. Most managers would of failed in that scenario.

As is said at the start, This is a reality check, We have to get used to the fact that we arnt the club we used to be, Yes Rodgers isnt great and we'll probably lose the likes of Suarez, Agger and SKrtel. But lets all just get behind the team and stop posting nonsence on here.

If Rodgers fails, Then just like Kenny and Hodgson before him we will move on to someone else.

Graham YNWA {Ed049's Note - well said, some of them need to wake up and smell the coffee}

Best post ive ever seen on this site, Most people on here are dreamers, We have no chance of munian, ramirez, soldado etc. Next season will be very hard for us. top 6 are way infront of us. it will be between us everton norwich swansea etc to get 7th. Good post. Jay

Got to agree, a time for real supporters to support, and plastic fans to fade away!

The truth hurts

Coxy82

Well said mate, well bloody said.

Stevie.

Yes lets just accept it, roll over and die!

M8 understand wot you trying to say ,but Liverpool is not a club behind spurs or Newcastle by far maybe last few season they fin above us ok well done but not so long ago spurs and Newcastle was not doing great ,in teams ov last few years but last 10/11 years we been won F A cups /carling cups /champ league /uefa cup super cup been in finals ov cups ,sorry wot spurs won !!!! Newcastle !!!! Look not trying get anyone s hopes up by far but we got a lot to be proud ov last few years ant gone are way so wot,,,, we still Liverpool Fc !!!! As for the guy who so called plastic fans fade away why wots the point in that !!!! Instead they should think ov the last 10/12 years not just last few get there chins up and be proud don't give in or walk away are time will come again because we are Liverpool Fc
YNWA lfc linc

Who said Rodgers wanted Caulker and Borini? Another thing Newcastle are most definitely not ahead of Liverpool Football Club. They have had a good season, well a great season for that matter. Liverpool had yet another poor one. Wait and see next season instead of talking about how far behind we are. Liverpool were very unlucky last season either injuries, bans and in front of goal. Liverpool are behind the top 4 clubs in terms of United, City, Chelsea an Arsenal but it is not massive. Results against these clubs proved this last season. Consistency has been a Probablem for Liverpool over the years brilliant against the top teams not so good against the mediocre teams. It's all about mentality and if Rodgers can help this Liverpool will be closer to the teams mentioned. In terms of targets you are correct, some of the players people mention are so far fetched I some times question their mentality and if they know anything about football.

I like to think that we have enough young players coming through and maybe be they are quality. I belive BR will give them a chance and players like Coady, Adoran, Texeira, morgan are our future.

Huh, we are doomed, we have no money to buy top players and to pay top wages, we are not attractive to top players, we are targeting second rate mediocre players at best.

No Ramirez or Sigurdsson, instead Mosses and Mark Davies WTF.

And to this ed002, I appreciate you work as well as other eds but don't try to make everyone believe what you know is the truth, you don don't know everything just like any of us and there might be something some other guy will know which you are not aware of.

I wouldn't expect you to tell us we are getting every top player Cavani's, Higuain's Ozil's but why always this negativity, you never brings us a good news, Suarez leaving, Mosses coming,..... well if its the reality and what your are saying is correct, time to mourn, we will be having another disappointing transfer window which means we fall behind the pack more than before, behind UTD, City, Chavs, Ars, Spuds even Newcastle and Neverton....yes the transfer window have not opened yet but why leave it late already one lesson learned with Sigurdsson, are we confident enough we would get the players we want at any time, not at all ...

If FSG wants us back there than STFU up and spend some F$$king money. I know that Old Scott wasted your money [probably our money from player sales] but if you fear for your money after what he did then F££k Off...

damn...... {Ed002's Note - There you go I brought you the good news about Dalglish leaving - you are clearly in the category of spewing hate at everyone. Hard to see what you are grizzling about. A posts go - very, very embarrassing.}

Great post, About time somebody on here said it like it is. Next year will be a struggle. We have no chance of offloading carroll, downing, henderson and adam. spearing and shelvey are not good enough. gerrard and carrager are another year older. reina suarez skrtel johnson and agger could be off. next season will be the hardest season we have ever faced in the premier league. rodgers could be in trouble after 10 games. brian

I'd much rather read the dreamers posts, than the negative doommongers, of which you are close to being one. We are not behind Newcastle, one season in 10 and we are suddenly behind them. Get real. Yes some of the wish lists on here are outrageous and boring but the amount of negativity on here is much much worse. Let's see what happens in the summer and how the season starts before we demand the head of all at lfc.
CQ

None of those players turned us down. We've not even bid for anyone as far as I am concerned and I've not heard anything from the eds or Macca about that so stop lying.

Yes, I do agree we can't attract every major player and we can't spend 100's of millions but we do have money to spend and we can attract players like Ramirez but Brendan knows who he wants and he wants technically gifted players who can pass hence Mark Davies.

BthekingB

KK did not spend £100m
Money for last seasons transfers did not come out of FSG pocket. The club is run on money it makes, not one £ will ever come out of FSG pocket. That's not their way.
Lee73 {Ed002's Note - The club has lost £100M plus in hard cash, including transfers, in the two years since FSG took over.}

Ed002 promised us that Snoogy Doogy was nailed on.......I Never did find out Which team we lost out on him to !

I agree we are not where we were a few short years ago but its not just as bad as you make out to be. I believe we can still attract big names and we've had an incredible amount of bad luck last season. I expect to finish above Newcastle and Spurs ( if Modric and VDV leave) next season

I disagree with loads of stuff on this post but the debate it sparked is very good.
Good post.

Patience......Emphasizes calmness, self-control, and the willingness or ability to tolerate delay... We ALL need to show some patience regards what transfers FSG and the Gaffer want to bring in.

Stevie.

Hi Eds

Talks**te is reporting that Juventus are moving ahead of us for Ramirez hope this isnt true . {Ed022's Note - Juventus are still in talks with Bologna (and have been for some time), although I feel they are beginning to focus on a certain Liverpool player.}

Bye Bye suarez

Think your right Ed, I have a feeling we might have seen Suarez in a liverpool shirt for the last time. Just a quick question, I have allways thought it very strange that they flew Kenny a club icon all the way out to the states to sack him. Do you believe that was the intention, or do you believe the sacking came about as a result of a disagreement at the meeting?
The interview process for his replacement took a while, which also gave the impression they were not fully prepared.
Not one for conspiracies really, just seemed strange when there are lots of other ways to sack him.
RNred {Ed022's Note - Well there are certainly mixed views on the Dalglish sacking. But I personally believe that Dalglish was flown out to America with the intention of the owners holding talks with Dalglish and seeing if he fought for his job, if he still had fresh ideas etc etc. The decision was taken during/after the meeting, but I don't want to go into too much detail about it. All that matters is that Liverpool have a new manager in Rodgers, and to be fair to the owners, they genuinely did conduct a thorough search for a new manager hence why it took a fairly long time.}

I are scare now ooeeooeeooee

If liverpool sold suarez for anything less then £45-50 million that would show we are absolutely a weak club, if modric nearly went for £40 million a guy that hardly scores a goal, where as suarez is the heartbeat of lfc without him we are completely flat and average, suarez can only get better and should not be sold for anything less then £45 million.RedTurk

RedTurk we all know you got a special thing for Suarez (creepy?!) but when did he EVER become the heartbeat of our club? The supporters are the heartbeat of our club.

If you HAD to choose anyone, it'd be Kenny, then Stevie (in this day and age, anyway, Shankly goes without saying)

Oh, and just for added effect- myself and nearly everyone on here finds you to be a disgrace to us as supporters, yet you live to post another day. Show's the true class us Liverpool supporters have!

McSnuggles

What a rubbish reply to a post. I think FSG already knew what they were going to do. The players Dalglish bought although had obvious potential did not play well over the last season Hopefully with their first season behind them the can possibly settle.. Carrol improved towards the end and was then included in england squad as a result of this but not really given enough game time to impress. Downing was the most dissapointing because i feel he can be a very good player but seems always to lack confidence in his ability especially when in the final third of the field when you need some creativity to try something differentThat could be said about all of the new signings because of the expectation of our supporters and the pressure on them to perform .That makes the difference.
Cheers red fans Bill

McSnuggles, r u saying the very supporters who turned anfield into a library r the heartbeat of the club? If thats the case, or club is screwed. If luis leaves, i will already have any small hopes i had of us getting top4.
Indian Buzzer

Soory i meant i will have lost all hopes of us getting top4.

My realistic Liverpool FC team for next season.

Reina (or Lloris, not fussed if we make a subtantial net profit on Reina out/LLoris in)

Johnson (fantastic in Euro's, hopefully can continue and stay fit for Liverpool)

Agger (ditto comments about Johnson!)

Skrtel (or Yanga-Mbiwa if we can make a substantial net profit on Mbiwa in/Lloris out)

Enrique (bring in Ali Cissokho for competition or Vargas for playing 3-5-2-always like this formation and when Kenny played it when he first came in we looked class!)

Afellay (£7-8 million if we act fast and outmanouvre the likes of Spurs, Arsenal etc. Also very impressed with Leon Brittain's stats at Swansea. Europe's most accurate passer would make a good squad player for Liverpool)

Nuri Sahin (Speculative but a class Xabi Alonso-esque playmaker who is not in favour at real. Maybe a loan with an option to buy)

Gerrard (Nothing needs saying, simply a class act!)

Sturridge (Would be a great buy AND i'd play him right down the middle with Carroll and Suarez just behind them)

Suarez (Just needs to behave himself and take more of his chances)

Carroll (IF Rodgers can get the best out of him great, if not, i'd look at someone like Moussa Sow, Lacina Traore....someone who will have a similar effect for Liverpool as Papiss Cisse has for Newcastle)

For me that team could be signed for £30 million max. Also gives us good squad cover in Lucas Leiva (not his biggest fan, he's good, but not as good as some Liverpool fans rave about him!), Coates, Kelly, Henderson, Downing etc

Sell Adam, Bellamy, Doni (£40k a week for benchwarming services?!), Jones (Butland in as Lloris/Reina's number 2), Rodriguez, Spearing.

Make Carragher player/first team coach.

All that is about as reasonable as fergie praising LFC

Not reasonable at all mate, sorry.

BthekingB

Good football knowledge of players attributes. We only need 2-3 players in crucial positions to make LFC great again
Lets see the younger reds given a chance

Any chance of getting mascherano back?
Also newcastle are about to pick up another steal- debuchy at 6 mil
Cant we have a bid for him?
Cheers all

I'm sure if we can all have a quick whip around we could bid.

I've got £6.27 in my pocket for starts.

Tristan

Debuchy is average at best... Have you seen him before the euros ? He gets up and down but no end product, very unreliable defensively... He's a very poor glen Johnson.

G BOX

Lloris in for reina and then out again how will that work??

NOW the time is coming window opens very very soon come on LFC.lets see some great players come in.and in lfc i trust.jay essex red till dead. COME ON WALK ON WALK ON

Can't wait for the Sigi saga to be over.

Why all the hate for him ? if he chooses Tottenham for the money so be it, he doesn't owe us anything, he has never said he will be joining us...

I think he would be a good signing but if he wants the money rather than the LFC jersey then that's his loss, we will move on and sign someone else.

G BOX

Valid point but I think its extremely disappointing that modern day players are more worried about lining their pockets rather than play the sport they're suppose to love. Its sad to say but football isnt about football anymore its about greedy players and greedy agents..
dave

Apparently the trouble is between the clubs us and hoffenheim? not him at all so he is not choosing the fundage he was given a deadline by hoffenheim to sort out his business get off the kids case for a few days

As much as I hate to agree with "mony-grabbers," I'd take a job at a rival company doing what I do now if I got a substantial pay increase. Likewise, if I was looking for a new job and had several offers for similar jobs, I'd take the one that financially provides for me the best! These players may not have families now, but one day they'll probably want to and they'll want as much money as they can to provide their family a good life - I know I would. It's all bigger than football...

McSnuggles

But you would not think any less of him if he took the higher wages of Liverpool over Swansea? What a bunch of hypocrites {Ed049's Note - The reason he was considering to join Liverpool was Rodgers.}

30 Jun 2012 18:38:24
{Ed022's Note - Brand new Player-Profile on Victor Moses of Wigan. I had a massive response to yesterdays updated profile on Ramirez so thank you LFC fans, and I hope this profile gets the same reaction. As Ed002 covered, there seems to be interest in Moses from Liverpool, so this profile covers the latest with him, and his future etc. Cheers all.}

Haven't been on all week due to work and other obligations....I see I didn't miss much. I don't know what everyone is freaking out about, relaxxxxxxx, Brendan will sign who he wants when he wants, yes it can be frustrating to be seemingly standing still while our rivals sign players but to be honest patience always pays off and I wouldn't ever want to be confused with the likes of city,chelsea or arsenal by just throwing money at unproven talents and diva's like Hazard. It's 100 degrees here in Philadelphia so I'm gonna go get my speedo on and hit the pool..lol
Cheers.

Hi Eds & Reds,

I have to laugh at some of the numpties that come on here whining and bitching about the Eds (great job as always), the manager, the players, the owners, yada yada. If they could take 2 minutes to think and actually use their brains (they might not have much but hey) and realise:
1) Transfer window not open until July 1st
2) BR has not had time to assess squad yet
3) Regardless of who the player is, Gylfi or whoever, we have a clear wage structure in place and a budget in place. They are not going to offer crazy wages unless the players value will appreciate and warrant the investment.

Brendan Rodgers has not even been in charge a full month and people are casting aspersions already. Bloody hell, give the man 5 minutes . People are giving out about some of his potential targets, well guess what, he might make a mistake in the transfer market and I think its fair to say in the 26 years i've been supporting the club, every single manager has made mistakes in the transfer market.

So instead of all the negativity, how about you support your team, get behind the players, owners and manager. Okay other theams have reached agreement with players, so what, their managers have had time to assess their squad and in relation to Gylfi, if he wants to go to Spuds, so what, i'll no loose any sleep over it. So say he does sign for Spuds, whats to say if AVB gets the job and does a Torres on him?

The Eds & Macca, do a great job here, there is very little info coming out of Anfield in relation to possible transfer targets, business will done the the Liverpool way- behind close doors and not in a media circus frenzy. The Eds & Macca, do get certain snippets of info, but things can change, so nothing is nailed on.I can understand Eds frustration at been repeatedly asked same question and expecting a different answer - drive you insane.

When it comes down to it, we need to look at the bigger picture, BR & FSG have a long term plan for the club. We are not Chavski or Citeh who can pay a player 150k a week to sit on bench. Mistakes have been made in the past and I envisage FSG not letting this happen again and rightly so.

R_R

Signing up a manager with only one years experience is that not a mistake

Typical response. Its not a mistake until he screws up. He's innocent until proved guilty. As R.R said, give him a chance. Jeez.

It not a bleedin court room mate

You sound like matlock

LFC decided against Gyfi after the disappointment in many fans opinions of the style of play by the Spanish national team at Euro 2012 with their 4-6-0 tiki-taka setup. We have decided to play a 4-2-3-2 system instead and go after a strike partner for AC and LW/left half for one side and a RW cover for the other side. If we cannot get cover for all three positions we will promote sterling and give him some time in rotation with Downing and Bellars. Stevie will play right side rotating with downing from time to time there and sometimes rotating with Saurez in the hole when Luis plays up top with Andy.

BR has asked Charlie to study Pirlo and mimic him, as he sees this as Charlies new role. Charlie has embraced this notion and now runs out each morning on his new Vespa to buy a pack of Marlboro and a double espresso. Meantime Pepe has been playing outfield while training with the Spanish team to master the new build from the back philosophy
If this fails we will sack our new manager and sell our GK, 2 CB Saurez and all our emerging youth. Rangers FC will buy Bury and replace them in their division and with their new funds Bury will merge with LFC and the amalgamation will be renamed Buried. Macca will emerge as the new Engerland head coach and will lead his new team to Brazil 14 with a squad made up of players that don't ever want to play CL football (mainly Spudz and Buried players) Ed022 will start a new TV station, Ed001 will be head of communication and spokesperson for Macca and Ed002 will buy and island in the Caribbean and start the largest swingers club the world has ever seen. The future is bright..........I think!

Chi-Paul

So we not gonna play a keeper den or hav we got permission to play 12 now

I read this post then realised i was meant to be laughing :L

O.k gunther put the gun down

" We have decided to play a 4-2-3-2 system"..... Thanks Brendan!

Dear Fellow LFC fans,

As the transfer window is about to open, I wish to share with you as to how I personally dealt with my personal demons. I am a recovering transfer rumour addict. It took me a while to admit it, but eventually I could no longer lie to myself. Perhaps, all of us need that out-of-body, shameful experience to come to terms with this disease. For me, it happened 2 years ago in Istanbul as my girlfriend found me in an Internet café scrolling up and down the rumour page looking for a confirmation on the Silva transfer. It was not there and yet I had kept looking for it and in the process forgotten that I had promised that I would join up with her after reading my e-mails. Two hours later I was nowhere near the meeting point outside the Grand Bazaar.. It was a lie which I had used many times before. Only that time I took a long look at myself and decided that I had to battle this awful condition. Of course, there were many other critical moments: I could have been caught with my personal computer in my lap while seated on the toilet bowl in the dark at 2 in the morning or even at work on transfer deadline day with the ubiquitous Liverpool Rumours Form window prompting my finger into action at regular intervals. With the support of my loved ones, I conquered my addiction. Today, I no longer count the seconds to the next update of the page; I no longer believe that ed002 takes any satisfaction in our mediocrity and, perhaps my greatest achievement, I have given up on trying to uncover Macca's real identity. Despite all the progress I have made, I remain vigilant. I know I'm only one Ramirez, J. Rodriguez or Dzagoev rumour away from stumbling, but I take it one day at a time. I hope my story will be of help.

Candian Fan {Ed049's Note - Brilliant post.. Anyway you forgot Cavani there, as he is the flavor of the day}

Awesome, thanks for that.

Hi Tom
Give us some opinions

You know what's really starting to get on my nerves recently.
All the Whining about all the moans and rants
Seriously I am all the time seeing posts about it.
It's already starting to be more irritating from all the crying on the players , FSG , BR etc...

Please stop it I think everybody got the point...

not a rumour at all but thought some people might want to read these articles to see how tiki-taka football works and how brendan might implement it at liverpool.
I thought they were great reads

http://www.eplindex.com/15096/liverpool-fc-brendan-rodgers-tactics-pressing-game-works.html

http://www.eplindex.com/14987/brendan-rodgers-tactical-approach-liverpool-adapt-tikitaka.html

http://www.eplindex.com/15199/brendan-rodgers-resting-with-the-ball-top-european-league-opta-stats-analysis.html

Can we put a stop to all this tiki-taka stuff? Barcelona play tika-taka and because they have fabregas, xavi, iniesta, villa, messi, pedro, thiago, tello, busquets, sanchez etc. We have downing, henderson, spearing, shelvey, carroll, maxi. Even gerrard wouldnt get into the barca team. Maybe suarez could but he will be off to juventus this summer.

Ye because hes 32.sure messi and iniesta are both in therapy still for post traumatic chelsea syndrome

Gerrard would walk into the Barca team

30 Jun 2012 17:39:56
If we sign someone like mark davies or joe allen for £6m i think it could be good business for liverpool if it works out rodgers can be seen as a wheeler and dealer in the markets unearthing good talent, if it doesnt work out then it considered an cheap mistake, ultimately we dont want any more expensive mistakes ie. aqualaini.
Cheers
Smithy

30 Jun 2012 17:47:20
well everybody the lfc site is back up and we got the big announcment we were all waiting for! jamie carragher always cheats at golf {Ed049's Note - haha}

Well that obviously means that we will never, ever be buying anyone again.

Damb FSG and there tricks.

Tristan

30 Jun 2012 17:37:47
Just been informed from a good source at LFC that Liverpool have put a bid in the fee of 16M for Mario Gomez, yes all the talk of Gomez not scoring enough goals at Bayern has aparently prompted the Big Forward to seek them elsewere. FSG are willing to put money into the club as long as they get rewards out of it, and although Gomez is a bit older than the age they're looking for he fits the bill for what Rodgers wants. Carroll may be on his way if this deal comes through, the big man more than likely to return home for a cut price of what we paid.

Cheers Ed's wonderful site
Hope you all enjoyed this information! {Ed049's Note - It's highly unlikely that he would want to move away from Bayern now, we had our chance when Roy was in charge but Gomez decided to stay at Bayern and fight for his place.}

30 Jun 2012 17:37:07
Liverpool preparing a £55m bid for porto aces james rodriguez and joao moutinho.

Unnamed scout {Ed049's Note - pipe dreams.}

Lets hope

Nonsense

30 Jun 2012 18:33:36
Hi Ed's im seeing tons of rumours about tons of players, just a simple question really, can one of you ed's tell me who we are for definite looking to sign? also whats going on with sigurrdson have we lost out on him or is there still a chance of him signing for us? thanks eds. {Ed049's Note - It's impossible to say as of now, and yes most likely sigurrdson will end up at spurs.}

30 Jun 2012 18:27:06
Are we getting Ramirez {Ed049's Note - Nobody knows at the moment.}

30 Jun 2012 18:21:41
cant believe whats happening to us shankly made is into a top side and look where we are now he would be disgusted with us not getting linked with the best players in the world but players like mark davies how much more can we go down before we hit rock bottom shankly and paisley made us who we are today only to be signing players like henderson and having players like spearing it just gets on my nerves
lfc liam

They would probably also be disgusted with the amount of players that are driven by money today and not by the love of the game.

Carb {Ed049's Note - exactly}

Your a disgrace... Who says we want davies? the papers? and there a good source aren't they, that's why Klopp, Martinez and Rodgers are joint managers, and are assessing our squad of, Troare, Johnson, Dempsey, Lescott, Walcott, Moses, Diame, Kalou.... I could go on, no one know what is happening, so until the club announces something we will continue to know nothing.

G BOX

Behave Liam,
Shanks did not buy or was linked to World Class players, Keegan from Scunthorpe is a good example.
Today, if we were linked with the equivalent, you would be moaning.
This isn't football manager or FIFA...although Renato Augusto always does well for me on footie manager.
Relax, if BR thinks a player from the lower divisions or not a household name could do the same job as a multi million pound signing, who are we to criticise
Roll on the season
Mr Mcdoodle

I don't think he would be disgusted.. Maybe disgusted with 'fans' like you not getting behind the club...

Myk

Your not old enough to remember Shankley and Paisley so don't act like you know. Your not even classed as a Liverpool fan. {Ed049's Note - that's a bit harsh mate}

All i am saying is how much have we gone down hill to be even linked with players like davies
lfc liam

The game has changed so much since them days, teams are scouting for the young players more so the lower league teams dont get them as much

30 Jun 2012 18:21:03
Me for one is happy Sig ain't coming to us cos he claimed he didn't wanna sign for Swansea cos they had no manager but some how he's signing for spurs whos got no manager, I think we've dodged a bullet there to be honest the last thing we need is a player that tried to hold our beloved club ransom on outrageous wage demand, good luck sig

I think he would have been good at Liverpool but there are other players out there at this level of quality so we're not missing out on the world here.

BR knows more than anyone how much he's worth and if he decided that he's not worth as that much he wont pay it.

30 Jun 2012 17:54:28
Hi Ed's,

It seems to have a little quiet in the media regarding James Rodriguez. Have you guys heard anything lately?

Cheers

Rascal Red {Ed022's Note - Yes I have. That there is no interest from Liverpool, there has never been any interest from Liverpool and there is no chance of him coming to Liverpool. As we have said from the very beginning. Hope this clears things up for you.}

30 Jun 2012 17:33:28
I believe three players all attacking mids / forwards will be brought in. If the money is not there for 3 players than the 2 I think will be Ramirez or Schurrle (Left) and Thomas Muller or A. Johnson (Right). If a third a third attacking player can be bought Iker Munian, Luuk De Jong, or Daniel Sturridge. I believe that all of these players are reasonably obtainable and would greatly improve the squad with exciting young players.

Brendan Rodgers has stated his admiration for our defense and I don't expect him to try and change it this year. With Gerrard and Lucas in the Center with Henderson, and Adams as backup I think that we are strong enough there. We lack goals and that is where I expect to see investment.

We may also invest in more youth talent or even a decent amount for a younger squad player that would not mind coming in off the bench.

Coley

Muller?? Really?

Agreed that we need atleast three attackers coz kuyt ,maxi,bellers may all be out and with europa league and a serious premier league challenge we need an even stronger squad..though i would think we need one more player who could cover both left back & holding mid..another young attacking mid would be brilliant given we sell adam, spearing ,aqua,cole etc..IMO there would be a lot of players moving out with 3-4 quality players coming in & the youngsters being given a chance..exciting 2 months ahead in the window..

You say we are all-right in the engine room,if that was the case, why did we have to play Spearing in there? The truth is that we struggled without Lucas and everyone hopes he comes back fully fit.But we can't be certain he will be back to his best when he returns.So i really think we do need another C Midfielder,one wo will track back unlike Gerrard and Adam,who are better in the opponents third.

Just looking at the current squad and what areas I believe to be in the most need of improvement. Henderson is a natural CM and he should be played there. As for Muller you can look at my previous posts.

Carroll is getting better at holding up the ball for attack and I believe will be much better in the years to come. So a 4-2-3-1 would make the 3 attacking mids the priority also all of the players I mentioned could be adapted to a 4-4-2 if need be.

Coley

30 Jun 2012 17:27:14
while our rivals are announcing signings left right and centre, we've been give the amazing news that 'carra cheats at golf'

Yeah it's great to support liverpool......

Carra should stick to the golf,as I really don't want to see him huffing and puffing next season.I know Purslow gave him a 2 yr deal that takes him to 2013 and pays him a big wage, I think we should loan him out to Marine if they don't want him maybe The Dog and duck. Please Brendan no more hoofing from the back.

30 Jun 2012 17:25:35
english midfielders at the moment are average but i think mark davies is an exception. he's different class

Yeah he's crap.

LOL!!!! That was funny!

Here we go now were linked with Mark davies he as now become the best player in the world,when will this ever ever ever end.

I actually quite rate him , i think he has good energy and not scared to get stuck in ( unlike merieles when we had him )

Don't get me started on Meireles, he made Harry Kewell look like Roy Keane.

Here we go now were linked with Mark Davies we all slate the team and get pissed that we're not spending £40m on overrated players.

Davies not to bad jaysus lads and he might be one of these who steps his game up if he comes god knows plenty of players forms went down like a malfunctioning plane when they came

30 Jun 2012 17:25:02
Still think we should move for Dempsey. I know the rumors have cooled but to me he would be instant help for the start of the BR project. Any chance of him?

A 29 year old who's finally proved himself to be a decent premier league player, after 5 seasons. we have seen the best of clint dempsey. no top class defence is going to fear him

30 Jun 2012 17:20:57
Although I look forward to BR taking over this year. I feel its a little to late for the guy. Some of daglish's signings have really lowered our bar in terms of standard. unfortunatley he has a huge task getting lfc bk into epl elite. I must say Iam impressed with fenway's approach to players demanding ridiculous wages. At least we know the clubs finances are in better hands even if we are a mid table team for the nxt few years. Sure some of the Eds would disagree, but most of the Eds are not lfc supporters. So a neutral reply would be appreciated.

Pennywise

Did you even watch us last year penny wise? We played teams off the park a lot of the time just couldn't score. Admittedly we finished poorly. Get a grip lad 2 or 3 quality attacking players and we will be right up there. CQ

30 Jun 2012 17:17:40
hi eds, is there any news of who BR has brought into the club as his staff aswell as this "group" of people he said he would work with to ensure signings and various other positions within the club. also any news on any youngsters going on loan or breaking into the first/reserve team? {Ed002's Note - Scouting staff have arrived. A commercial manager.}

30 Jun 2012 17:14:31
Eds.. A Suarez duo up front would be awesome! any updates?

Yessss please!! and ramirez with them! unstoppable! But gues what?? Thats not gonna happen, we will sell Suarez and buy Darren Bent as his replacement.....other suarez would reject because saurez will be sold(no attraction to the club) same can be said about ramirez, and thus we will end up with mark davies and another average guy......lets say.....victor moses

30 Jun 2012 17:13:05
Ed, why am I getting ads for Olympic tickets and Blackburn Rovers season tickets when my google search history is almost completely confined to porn?

Chris in Tamworth

Because you've been searching for "Grown men with loose ears"

30 Jun 2012 17:12:32
Why are we not pushing to sign jr hoilett. He's a free agent and in my opinion can be top class. To me he looked a better player for blackburn than what velencia did at wigan, and look how gd valencia is now, we should be trying to snap him up before another prem team does, the compensation will only probs be around 4 mil

30 Jun 2012 17:05:37
eds. any truth in the ramirez story??
great site btw

Nope, we will never get him

30 Jun 2012 16:53:30
Eds/macca will we sign anyone or ar we in talks for anyone or have agreed a fee cause every other team has signed someone please post this as I would like ur opinion

Every other team has signed someone? Really? Geez I missed all that going on. Remarkable as it not July 1st yet. I can't believe BR could be so crap! You would have expected him to sign at least 4 players, especially as he hasn't even met the existing squad. Must obviously mean Fenway have no money!

You, like so many others, are a joke and a disgrace to this club!

i'm getting fed up with us being linked to very average players, what has happened to us? come on rogers give us something to be positvie about. the fans will get behind you for so long but if it all goes pear shaped in the begining the fans will turn like they did on woy. harry redknapp waiting in the wings, ummm ya never know

Seriously you are not wanted in this world if you believe every transfer story. Real fans support the team no matter what. We could resign Djimi Traore and I'd still support him. What kind of a fan are you? {Ed049's Note - I would be shattered if we re-sign Djimi Traore}

Pal he has given us something to be positive about he hasnt wasted a cent of our budget we should be gratefull redness

Sorry Ed02, if you feel I'm having a right old dig at you here, but curiosity has got the better of me and I can't help but ask.

Its just that I believe you support another team, and probably a big rival of Liverpool's, maybe United or Everton, I don't really know who, but its a big rival anyway, and as such its natural for you to be a little negative in matters concerning Liverpool prospects on transfers and team strengthening. Its why you never really see Liverpool as capable of singing any of the top talented players (unless it doesn't actually improve the team, as in selling a top player like Suarez and to then buy a slightly lesser player like Ramirez).

I respect the fact that you don't sugar coat your responses, and most Liverpool fans know that 95% of the time the club will never have a chance of these players. I actually expect a skin stripping acidic reply to this but do you think Liverpool can improve and sign really good players without having to sell first?

Ed02, the reason why I ask is because, so often your replies just look like blanket dismissals of Liverpool, without any concrete insight into why Liverpool are out of the equation, just statements like 'other teams have shown interest', 'no chance', 'players transfer fee and/or his salary', 'player will not sign for Liverpool' type of answers.

And finally are your opinions in regard to Liverpool's transfers in anyway influenced because maybe you have natural disdain (possibly subconscious) for Liverpool and this becomes understandable given your own allegiance?

Apologies Ed02, if I anything I said that has came across as antagonistic, I really don't mean to be.

Cal

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with me supporting another team Cal. I write lengthy answers to many of the questions and if you took the time to look at the posts you would see that. I have provided enormous amounts of detail on players that the fans believe to be targets – Gaston Ramirez is a current example. People writing in day-after-day asking if Cavani is signing will get a short answer. I have gotten a couple of things wrong and have admitted that but the vast, vast majority of what I have said has been correct – so that rather demonstrates that my opinions are not tainted. I get enormous amounts of foul abuse and clearly many people would much rather I lie to them rather than tell them the truth. As an example, I have been abused today because I said that the Uruguayan Olympic Team was not at Melwood despite apparent Twitter and Facebook reports and pictures that they were. Is that fair on me? I have also had a great deal of abuse today for saying that Ramirez has not signed today for Liverpool – despite the Express saying he has. Is that fair on me? It is interesting that I am the target of your post when your fellow fans spend much of their time spewing hate at the players, owners, manager, and of course the respectfully named “deadwood”. That is all fine of course – but I am the much easier target. I am sure plenty of these so called "fans" will agree with you.}

These so called 'fans' just can't face it that the truth hurts. The apparent inactivity of Liverpool so far , a club that needs serious work this summer, means most fans are becoming impatient and almost want to believe that random crap that hits the papers just to feel like something is happening.

Don't take it personally Ed002. Its just a shame not everyone has that patience.

Gh*Lfc

I keep saying it just ban the tools eds , you do great work have been checking this site for years ( before we had our own club pages ) just ban the idiots great great wirk eds thankyou from the real world !!! .........andy.

People who throw bricks,some times throw petrol bombs,Me, I throw peace brother. Ed02 says what he knows that's good enough for me.I don't care who he supports, or that his comments can be insulting at times.But as he says we don' read the sh** he gets because he rightly cuts them. He does a good job,its good banter to ave an opposing fans tit for tat.I couldn't do his job cause I'm a coward.

The Liverpool team does need work on it agreed. Nobody really knows what Liverpools transfer targets are apart from Siggourson which may have failed but until Spurs announce him as signing it is still an unknown. We dont know whats happening behind the doors at Anfield and as the poster says there is APPARENT inactivity which may mean they are just keeping quiet until they can announce something positive to the supporters

Hold on there! ED002 never hid the fact he did not support the reds. there is a difference between being biased and being honest. I would much rather hear the truth than some sugar coated nonsense. some of 002's answers keep me amused for hours and she must have the patience of a saint to put up with the same s%$t day in day out.

Red or Dead

Ed002 & Cal, The problem is too many fans on here dont like the truth,as the saying goe's "Truth hurts" so when any of the Ed's post something they know to be false, most think its right to abuse them. Too many on here live in a fifa world were you can sign anybody as it all fantasy. So when it doesnt happen in the real world they think its right to abuse others. We has fans need to look at the bigger picture and realise that tis season we are not going to sign possibly anyone big. We just are not at this moment attractive enough. If by chance we clinch 4th and CL perhaps next summer will be a lot different. Also FSG wil not be held to ransom on players wages/wants ie sigg. So to those type players i say Pee off to Spurs or whoever and let them get into more debt paying you. Thye will live to regret turning us down for a few extra thousand. So lets see whats happens between tomorrow 1st July until Aug 31st. Then anyone dishing out abuse because its not going ther way come back here and apologies to the eds.
Here to the start of the season and very best of luck to BR and Liverpool FC.
Lee73

Ed 02 no disrespect to you but he was not attacking you...he even apologised at the end to make it clear and stated it at the top, and Cal she supports Chelsea, and Gh*Lfc stop being such a suck up.....Ed 02 can you just answer the question "do you think Liverpool can improve and sign really good players(good in your opinion) without having to sell first?" {Ed002's Note - I don't see that there will be a problem with the owners supporting the buying of players within reasonable financial constraints. However, it is not possible to simply keep adding players without selling some as well. If any departures were to raised a large sum them I would think you would see re-investment. "Good" remains a subjective term of course.}

Cal Ed002 is a chelsea fan I believe, but that really has nothing to do with it. Have you thought that the opposite may be true here and as a Liverpool fan you believe that we can sign anyone and that they will want to come?
The truth is there are lots of factors working against us at this time that dont make us that appealling to the big star names. We can not afford to outbid ( even match) our rivals, and infact there are now a lot of very rich clubs in the world after the same players.
We can not offer Champions league football, but not only this, players and agents will know that getting back in to it is going to be extremely difficult, UTD and City look guarenteed leaving 2 places and Chelsea, Spurs and the Gunners investing again.
The manager is really in global terms an unknown quantity and if were honest a gamble, Rafa when he came was able to attract good Spanish players because of his successes there.
Wages, there seems to me to be a deliberate plan to drive down the wage bill, and as this might have tempted some despite the other reasons it does not look like a route were going down.
That all sounds bad I know, but to be fair to the owners they have spent and attracted players, Suarez and Andy for instance so there is hope of big names it is just very difficult.
The owners appear to be going down a different route in a way, they have seen BR compete against teams with much more expensive players due to his style and philosophy about the game. Our acadamy has seen big investment, the next gen series and signings like Texeria are a clear indication that they see this as the way forward. Examining our scouting network, and looking at picking up targets around the world before they become house hold names, south america for instance.
There are areas where we are going to have to invest short term, left back, Agger played games out there due to lack of cover. A right sided player, be it an out an out winger (Johnson for example) or someone a bit more versatile (maybe a Ramirez type). A holding Mid possibly? and then will Johnson be sold?
People are just down at the momment because it's been a bad run, before Xmas we were still up there challenging and we were expecting a change in luck with the goals and the return of Gerrard, instead his injuries sort of persisted, then the was the Suarez affair, the Lucas injury, the FA cup loss, no news on the stadium front, no fourth, worst position in god knows how long and Kenny sacked. And theres still a horrible feeling that Suarez will be sold, and after the 3 kits have been launched and they have made all the money from the ones with Suarez on, which will be a bit naughty.
But I'm looking on the bright side we never played that bad last season, the kids get some games this year and one or two new faces, the new manager kick starts the confidence again which I think went towards the end, and I think well be ok.
RNred

I think you are fair ED002

Not everyone has a go at you.

I have had in the past differences of opinion with you but it never got nasty on either side. I may have differeces of opinion with you in the future and that will be fine too I am sure.

I won't post my name cause I don't want to be attacked by the spanners.

But some of us like you Ed002. {Ed002's Note - Post of the day - your hamper is in the mail.}

Im actually a fan of ed002s responses detailed when needed and bland when neccessary because posters need to know when there asking repetitive qs that are bothersome to eds and other readers alike and he does this with enough integrity to not really offend posters like how many times have the eds had to reply try the search function my word id slap my laptop in the face.redness

i read earlier about brendan rodgers stopping at melwood to read a quote from fernando morientes. the piece i read was"cup of tea in hand, the new reds boss was then given a tour of the facilities by darren burgess, lfc's head of fitness and conditioning. after visiting the indoor-outdoor pitch, swimming pool, dressing rooms, medical area and video analysis unit, he stopped to read a quote on the wall from fernando morientes praising the supporters"the morientes quote was unknown to me, until now"the atmosphere at anfield in the champions league is the best i've ever experienced. i even phoned home and said to my father "ive never seen anything like this" he said "but you played for real madrid" of course the atmosphere was good in madrid, but at liverpool its unique,the people really lift the players"

Hey Eds and Macca
If its possible, please could Macca or any of the Eds enlighten us on what is currently the situation with :Sigurdsson - who looks to have fell out of our grasp!

Gaston Ramirez - some random arfticles claiming we have already signed him - obviously bulls**t but are talks going on??

Lacina Traore - 6ft 8in ivorian power house, we are supposedly interested in a £6m move for him, is this true??

Great site Eds!!
By the bear YNWA JF96
{Ed002's Note - All of this has been dealt with at length - try the search function.}

If your still too lazy, Sigurdsson has agreed a deal with Tottenham but not fully signed. We don't have an offer for him so we're out of the equation.

Ramirez is a possibility but many other teams are wanting him too.

Traore already joined another club.

Uruguays u23 side beat liverpool of montevideo 3-1 with coates getting the 1st goal. {Ed002's Note - At Melwood I assume.}

A friend of a friend that is working on the LFC website said that they are adding Cavani to the player profiles. Cavani said he would sign if that was the score.... HAHA ;D

rrrrrREDAlert

Think it would of made more sense Ed02 iv they,d played in Uruguay since both teams are from there, but hey seems everyone else is at melwood at the moment so why not.

martin p

Ed 002 you are just misunderstanding the first half was played in liverpool montevido the second half at melwood a similar sort of circumstance as the mata transfer last year the players were more than happy with the arrangements even if half time was 11and a half hours while they got to the airport and travelled between the two hard to accept i know but it will make most feel better knowing they were half right lol

The liverpool fc website is down. 404 error. Is this a sign of some changes within the team? {Ed002's Note - It'll be the Ramirez and Cavani announcement no doubt.}

Ed, Stop teasing the children!

Remember they're shifting servers?

Daniel Rogers.

John Henry has forgotten to pay his web hosting again.

With all the big clubs wrapping up deals before the window opens tommorow, is there any chance of an early signing and if so who? Please post
Thanks owen {Ed002's Note - You mean this evening?}

30 Jun 2012 15:33:06
To all the Edd's and Macca. Who is actually doing the transfer talking with foreign clubs and players at the club at the moment?

Is that perhaps the reason why no one has been signed till now??

30 Jun 2012 16:04:00
Now Rafa has said he'd prefer a job in England, how many future posts are going to say "Rodgers OUT. Rafa IN." and "In Rafa we trust"?

I think a lot.

Tristan

P.S. Rodgers is the man for me and I will be supporting all the way.

Kenny all the way

I always thought rafa was the best man but now rodgers is in I would support him 200%..
and i think most loyal & sensible fans would do that.. after all their research and experience the owners brought in the man who they thought would be he best option and we need to respect that.. everyone deserves a chance even more so rodgers with so much potential ..thats only fair

I wonder when Rogers has us in the drop zone shortly after Christmas and the call goes out to the King Will he come?

Shankly for me.

Does anyone else think the anfield pitch is a lot smaller than at other ground? If they expanded it maybe it would be harder for teams to park the bus like they did last season, and there would be more movement.

2nd smallest pitch in the premier league and surprisingly only 4 inches smaller than wembley's! I don't think it matters though, suits the style.

How does it suit the style? The oppositionj have to run less. All the good passing teams like barca and araenal have big pitches

30 Jun 2012 15:58:23
Maybe the owners are putting a lot of pressure on BR it looks like we have a salary cap going by the players we are looking at.if it goes badly wrong in 6 months what happens then do we sack him!i hope it works I don't want the type of player who will choose another club because he gets 15 grand extra a week, that's just greed.Rogers has got a very tough job ahead and I hope for the best.

Very nervous for the season ahead but can't wait!!
Kp

FSG are Gambling with LFC

We all criticize players for wanting to join clubs that pay better wages but if that club is also finishing higher than us in the table at the moment i dont see how we can blame them if they were joining clubs at the bottom of the league then you could say its greed

But all I really want is the goggle eyed mature dating woman back. I think we could've worked well together :(

Tristan {Ed002's Note - Ed007 will be back on Monday.}

I've got underfloor heating and a Blackburn season ticket offer!!. Stop complaining, at least you've got some entertainment with the Chinese honey's, I get Blackburn!, But Thank Hu(k its not Tony! :)

I'am getting posts for Jennifer Grey

I've got the chance of an MBA in London or a Blackburn rovers season ticket so don't knock the chinese girls. Glad I haven't had the ugly mature women for a while she gives me the willies. Rooney would probably like ED007 though.

Liverpool will not be signing any players over the age of 23. The club will not be paying excessive wages and will only sign players who want to play for the club. Affelay from barca will be the first signing.

Dave

That rules out 99% of good players then!

Affelay is 26

First u say we will not be signing anyone over 23 years of age, n then u mention affelay who is 26. No credibility in ur post.
Indian Buzzer

Sebastian Boenisch..... As a free agent, do you think he would be worthy cover/competition for Enrique??. (FSG type - 20's, resale value, young enough to get better, and as a bonus...free).
If it turned out he's not good enough after a couple of seasons then we have Jack Robinson, Jack in the meantime can go out on loan and gain experience.

30 Jun 2012 15:16:06
I really do not want to see Davies, Moses, Dempsey, Sigurdsson or any other mid table premier league player, I thought we would have realised this is not going to get us back to the top after last years shambles in the transfer window. Where is the logic in doing this again?!

RDR

I totally agree, thats why i feel if we buy these player these owners are simply not up to it. RedTurk

You are Right RDR

But people are always optimistic any hurdle can be overcome.

Rarely are they correct though!

Rogers system will not turn a bunch of players who play for the team Tika Taka football into Barcelona no matter how optimistic one gets.

Some of them are good squad players, we can't just go out and spend 20 mil on every position, so i think a few good bargains could be a good thing for the squad in depth.

FSG have only spent 30,200,000 since they came in, this is ofcourse with outgoings deducted from incomings and have also spent 7,000,243 on agent fee's, just need to find out what's being spent on wages now, FEEL free to correct me if i'm wrong.

Yorkshire RED. {Ed002's Note - And who paid all of the costs for the losses the club are incurring on a day-by-day basis?}

Behave yourself they have spent a fortune since arriving

They did also buy the club in the first place, also when selling a player I guess it's up to them how they use it. So investing it back into the squad still means they paid for the player.

Wish people would back the owners, they are trying the best to do right by the fans.

FSG have spent a fortune since arriving

Spending a Fortune is Relative

Compared to the spending by Roman and Monsour FSG have spent peanuts.

This is only concerning transfers, i guess i should have stated that, The OWNERS have had my support from day one i'm just saying thats all they've spent on transfers.

I'm just fed up of people saying they arn't going to spend, it's obvious they are, but thank god it's not in the capacity of man city and chelsea otherwise they'd lose alot more money.

I have loved this site since discovering it a couple of pre-seasons ago, loved the rumours, the banter, the jokes, the revealing of new players, everything. I'm writing now to say that I now can't bear to visit anymore due to the ridiculous moaning of 'fans' on this site, it's becoming unbearable. I've supported the mighty reds since I was 5 years old (33 years ago!) through thick and thin, and will continue to do so, no matter what happens. Anyone with half a brain can see that Brendan rodgers is a passionate, knowledgable football man, with a clear love of the game, and a clear love of playing the kind of football we know and love as Liverpool fans. This guy will put some soul and fight back into this great club, I'm certain of it, just let him do it. I fear that if the people visiting this site are on the terraces this coming season, we will be finished before we kick a ball. Let Rodgers make his choices on new players, let the style develop, and watch us fly. Berate and undermine him from the outset, and watch us fail. Your choice, but if you truly are fans, you'll choose the former. In life, true men stand up to challenges and face them with heart, with soul and with courage, they don't moan and whine about what might've been had they done this that or the other. So as fans, we need to stand up and fight, sing with heart and soul, and support the team like never before, just see what happens when we do. Speech over, a massive hats off the the ed's, a top job being done by all, it's just a shame it's spoilt by mindless numpties. Over and out.

The captain

Fantastic

At last...a man after my own heart. Well said The Captain!
I truly believe the majority of fans feel like we do, but the minority tend to be the majority on this site. I feel sorry for the Eds (who do a fantastic job) having to put up with all the negativity. At least I can log off when the comments get too ridiculous....which is more often than not these days! And most of the moaners don't even have the guts to sign their posts.
So , I am with you and am sure that most true fans are too.
KJS

Doesn't matter what you say, some fans will still be idiots.
I for one am with you Captain

Nice to see some solidarity, cheers! If only people would see what can be achieved with positivity and spirit. Confidence is infectious, spread it from the stands and the players will respond. And give Rodgers a chance, this guy oozes football, you can just sense it. Onwards and upwards boys.

The captain

Well said captain , and your spot on abput rodgers , he even said the same thing in his interview , that no matter waht some fans wont like him , i think they forget that if we say we are after a player , the players club lets a bidding war start and the price goes up , by keeping his cards close to his chest , he pays the right amount for the player he wants , i cant wait for the season to start because of BR

I gone past the point of readin negative comments on this site, everday i come on and its jus moan moan moan, there's a lot of regular and non regular posters on this website that post a lot of sense and stuff worth readin, but when it comes to the negative posts, give the first line a quick skim and if its lookin negative i'll jus read the comments, which then i agree with most. The negativity on this site is something that will always be here but can be easily ignored, its harder after match day's though because theres a lot of slating players and jus general nonsense posted.

Carb

Count me in Captain!

When we first started being linked with average players like Moses, Borini, De Jong, Sigurdsson, Caulker etc, I started to think that Brendan Rodgers was not the man for us and that he was too small time.

Now we cant even secure those average players, Its a disaster, Next season is going to be even worse than the last few.

Players like Soldado, Tello, Munian, Ramirez etc will not sign for us. I cant see us bringing in any quality. I thought after last season it couldnt get any worse than spending over 100m on downing, Adam, Henderson and Carroll.

Next season will be terrible. Rodgers will be out after about 10 games. We could be fighting relegation. John ynwa

You are an idiot, who says that they are targets? The media, has Rodgers ever come out and said he wants all those players, if you had half a brain you might think the reason we are not getting those players is because we aren't trying to sign them

Exactly, Brendan ''save a buck'' Rodgers is small time, Without a doubt, He was a disaster at Watford, Sacked at Reading and inherited an okay team at Swansea. Next season will be a disaster. Rodgers wont last until Christmas. ludo.

Agree with you john, good post our club is on a slippery slope if we sign anymore mediocre footballers ie adam, henderson etc i know its not easy trying to attract top players when there's no champs league footy on offer and that is a fact. bob ynwa.

Totally agree bob we wont win nothing if buck rogers brings in anymore average second rate players like dalglish did, im not convinced rogers is a good appointment he does not seem good enough for lfc but i will give him a chance we have to, no one else is going to be coming soon with these yanks in charge cheap option it was sorry but it true, disgruntled reds fan at the moment iam. NEIL LFC FOREVER

Stop bitching give the man 5 mins.... IDIOTS

If Rogers can take a Swansea side to 11th in the league what makes you think he'll get our existing team relegated with the quality we have? hello Eds what is wrong with some posters once they say we should give a chance to some youngsters like coady, Suso, shelvey,etc. and the next they are crying about not signing sigurdsson. I would rather see some players produced by our acadamy given their opportunity than bow to the demands of a player.
Regarding transfers I would just like players who the Manager feels will fit in well in the team and help improve it.
The Main thing that the club should concentrate on is moving on players who don't add much to the side. The likes of spearing , J.cole , Aquilani , Pacheco , Brad Jones (Just so Gulcasi can get his chance) , Danny wilson , even Maxi if he wants to leave.
People Blame Comolli a lot for over-payment on some players But he really did a good job in moving some players off the wage bill. (Does El-Zhar , Degen ring a Bell)

30 Jun 2012 14:32:53
think john henry should try and get whoever is in charge of contracts at porto to move to liverpool because look at how big all the buy out clauses are over there , 15m for avb , 30m for rodriguez, 40m for moutinho, 35m for hulk, he obviously has balls the size of footballs to be asking for that kind of money where as with us its take ppl on loan and we will pay there wges and take them back and tell you what you can just ignore the agreed fee just make us a ridiculous offer that we cant accept sure no bother !! seriously whoever deals with the negotiations needs a kick up the arse !!

Is gaston Ramirez training at melwood with Uruguay

The entire Uruguay team are training there ahead of the olympics

30 Jun 2012 14:30:11
As i have previously stated Gaston Ramirez will be confirmed as Liverpool player early July in a deal worth 19mil(+add

However I now understand that Victor Moses and Adam Johnson are only seen as back up options by Brendan Rodgers and that Liverpool will only push forward with moves for the Wigan and Manchesty City attackers if they fail in their attempts to sign their first choice targets.

I cannot say for certain who the first choice targets are at the moment but will keep you posted once i have more information. I can however say that Liverpool have enquired about Andre Shurrle and James Rodriguez but as far as I know that is as far as it has gone.

Edd the only reason y u think its made up is because u think Ramirez won't come cause Suarez may leave but wot does my head is u say its hard find out transfers so how can u predict if Ramirez will sign or not {Ed002's Note - I have not said anything about Ramirez not coming because of Suarez leaving nor have I said anything about it being hard to find things out. I have not made a prediction about Ramirez signing or not, I have simply explained the situation. Your head should be fine now.}

Ed you have said many times that you feel it is "highly unlikely" Ramirez will come (use the search function) and you have said many times you feel it is likely Suarez could leave if an acceptable offer is made.

Please dont regale on your past comments as soon as it seem likely you could be totally wrong.

Thanks a bunch. {Ed002's Note - Tell me where I have said that "Ramirez is not coming because of Suarez leaving"? Do you bother to read the posts at all? Another half witted soft boy. Astonishing and hopeless.}

Nice one ed! I need my head sorting out too! Nothing in particular, just a general head sorting please.

Nick.

Think the gist of this post was made on player profiles for Ramirez, so whach the blood pressure Ed02.

Jimbob {Ed002's Note - Well perhaps folks should read what I have written.}

He is probably getting mixed up Ed as on Player-Profiles Ed022 just stated that if Suarez were to leave then we would probably push hard for Gaston Ramirez! But there is still a chance Suarez will stay an Ramirez will sign also.
Skurks
Skurks {Ed002's Note - From many of the reports he signed today - whilst the Uruguay team have been training at Melwood. Cavani as well.}

Eds do you think James rodriguez and gaston ramirez could play well together (not saying for liverpool)? {Ed002's Note - I am sure someone will have an opinion on this.}

30 Jun 2012 14:09:25
Goog day Eds, as my first post I want to thank for this wonderful site. It has become an everyday read for me.

Can you please explain to me that if Spurs end up selling Modric they will then turn to replace him with Moutinho. Where would Gyfi fit in? Is that why nothing is made official as of yet? Therefore Liverpool is still in the running for his services? {Ed002's Note - I cannot answer whatif scenarios about the tactics and team selection at a club who have no appointed manager at this time.}

I think they may see Sigurdsson as the long term replacement for Van Der Vaart. VDV has courted a lot of interest from Germany recently...

ok eds, theres a lot of rumors about this guy ramirez.. now i havent heard too much abot him.. and if he was that good why arnt clubs in the cl after him too? and at 19 mil he wud need to be something special.. now i know he has nt been signed but that seems to be the value hes been given, which is a lot higher than sigursons.. {Ed002's Note - I have explained which clubs are after him and who is talking to Bologna about the player. At least two CL clubs have shown an interest.}

Typically Premier league only watcher, hes better than sigurdsson in every way.

When, oh when is our beloved club going to sort itself out. Cannot believe we lost Gylfi to Tottenham who don't even have a manager. and why did we lose him? spurs offered more money. How are that bunch of muppets out bidding and spending us? Sooner or later we are going to have to accept that if you don't spend you don't win in the modern game. If these yanks can't afford or are unwilling to do that then they need to sell the club to owners who can match our ambitions. The arrogance of these yanks! as if nobody has ever thought "i'm going to try and put together a good team and win the league on the cheap" if only it where that simple. start spending some money JH cos we are going backwards fast. Mark Davies for gods sake?! Not a bad player by any means but is this the kind of signing that is going to win us league titles and get us back into the CL?Somehow i doubt it.

We didn't lose Gylfi, the club and obviously BR decided he wasn't worth the amount Hoffenheim were asking and certainly not worth the wages Spurs have offered

Finally somebody talking a bit of sense on this forum. We have no chance whatsoever of challenging for the top 4, nevermind winning the league title, under FSG's current transfer/financial policy. The sooner fellow LFC supporters wake up and realise this the better.

I hope Liverpool would consider signing
-Schurlle
-Ramirez
-Rondon
-Dempsey
-Soldado

We need a new young striker with the potential of becoming world class.
Also BAR dempsey, the above players are very young and quality.
The reason i have included Dempsey is due to last seasons terrific form, i feel he would be a bossman in the middle of the park for us.

With regards to Sturridge, i am not sure he would fit the bill for Liverpool, after looking at the chelsea forum all the fans seem to want to get shut ? worrying for us. I havent seen to much of the lad so would appreciate any updates in terms of fee and quality.

Schurlle is a young striker with the potencial to become world class, he is just played out of position.

I have faith in Brendan; if he wants to sign Davies, or Moses, or Dickie wats-his-name - if he knows that player fits the system he wants to implement, fine with me. No qualms if he brings in lesser players or unknowns because I feel we already have the foundations of a good team plus very promising rising stars. Singred

We are already have enough dud players at this club

If BR applies his system and start producing results on the pitch with the same players, would you still complain? Singred

I would

then the exact same people who are giving out are the same ones that post ''We have signed gaston ramirez''

Hi Eds,

Recently there was a post with a response from one of the Eds (unsure which one) where they listed some of the players that we had enquired about. I have tried using the search function to find this information as I can't remember the exact players that were mentioned, but I don't seem t be using the correct phrases when searching to find the information I would like.

Would any of the Eds be able to shortly list the players that we have enquired about please? Thankyou. {Ed002's Note - We have no easy way of finding that post. Sorry.}

To be honest I am very worried about next season. We haven't managed to land Sig despite him knowing the manager extremely well, instead he heads to spurs...what hope is there of us attracting Any half decent players now?!

Mate we have missed out on one player what is all the negativity about? Its an absolute fact that nobody has any idea what the the club is up to or who is being targeted. Chill out, you never know you might be pleasantly suprised come the end of the teansfer window

apparently Liverpool has joined Chelsea in their interest for Andrea Schurrle. Liverpool willing to pay £12m. Schurrle costs £14m -£15.5m though... do you know of any interest eds? would be a great addition and fairly cheap considering the price we paid for downing ...

Hi not related to Lfc but Bale is 'injured' this paves the way for golden balls to get his turn in the Olympics, Beckham had to be in it and pearce just has to make the controversial decision's this is why he is a poor manager.

He can't, it would have to be another U23 player.

Yep cos they are the same position

Swedish papers reporting that Martin Olsson has handed in a transfer request to Blackburn. Since we're after a left back could we concider him? He's an offensive defender, only 24 and experienced with PL. I was personally impressed by him in the euros.

Could be ok as cover.

We don't need a left back we have Enrique and two highly rated youngsters as reserves. I therefore doubt we are after one.

Hi eds, if we sold suarez for cash only would it be out of the question to get Rondon and susaeta? I think that would be a brilliant bit of business. Have to say, not totally convinced on krasic eds in a deal for suarez, sounds to me that he would'nt have the desire as an up and coming young hungry player would. Susaeta over krasic any day for me.Thanks eds. Edsreds.

Why not keep Suarez, which I think we are anyway, and buy Susaeta for the reported £6 million that he's available for?

Hi Eds,

Obviously Sig is going to spurs so that page can be turned however been hearing a lot out of Adam Johnson joining LFC with a tablede bid of £15 as MC just want to cull thier squad, also Dempsey could be a last minute shock bid however need to reach in the excess of at least £12 as Murphy's just left and Dembele is on way out too, last bit of transfer rumour is Theo's fallen out of line at AFC and theri are willing to let him go at a £15-20 million price tag, he also wants first team football and rodgers is a great fan. What your thoughts, Cheers,

He won't be as good as a new signing. honsetly they aren't machines. they need to take time to get back to their best, and don't need us putting added pressure on them to do so.

Hello Edds would you expect transfers to be done quick so they can start pre season with the rest of the players, as i would think most deals would already be set up? {Ed019's Note - Due to some players at the Olympics and the tough start to the season, I would expect that they would want the transfers to be done quickly, but that is just my opinion}

It's a recycled story. Rodgers was interested in him the summer before Swansea won promotion before Davies went to Bolton.

30 Jun 2012 11:42:58
Firstly I don't believe much that I read in the papers but if you look at two reports that came out regarding Martin Skrtel within a two week period there's something in it I think.
The first report was about how Skrtel wanted confirmation that the club were matching his ambitions and the direction that they were planning to go.
The second was Skrtel coming out and saying that he was committed to Liverpool and rubbishing reports linking with him with a move away to Manchester City and that he was looking forward to the up coming season at Anfield.
I can only assume that between these two reports that he has spoken to Brendan Rodgers and the club, where the Gaffer has spoken to him regarding his projected targets and what he expects from the team and where he wants to take the club in the next 3 years and beyond.
Which leads me to think that there could be a couple of exciting targets on their way, starting with Gaston Ramirez, and that the club are willing to spend money on the squad again.
Like I said I don't believe a lot of what I read in the papers these days but if these two reports are true I think there's certainly a positive connection between the two. I read so many negative posts on this site and I have to say that I don't agree with a lot of what some of these doom and gloom merchants post, where a lot of them are probably not even Liverpool fans.
If you look at last season under Kenny if we had been a bit more clinical in the final 3rd we would have been a lot further up the table. Most of the football we played was superb, we just fell short on chances converted. I really think that with a couple of clever additions and good use being made of some of the exciting young players coming through and if the players respond well to Rodgers beliefs and what he expects out of them I really believe that we could be finnishing a lot higher up the table next season.
So I do think that there could be a couple of exciting signings still to come, like Macca said the club ARE prepared to spend money. Rodgers has now looked at the squad and the young players coming through in time for the transfer window to open where he will add to the squad and get to work with them. People have to develope a bit of patience and not believe everything they read in the press regarding Liverpool 'targets' and players we apparently 'missed out' on, a lot of it is rubbish. Let Brendan Rodgers do his work and see what happens.
I for one am excited and looking forward to the new season.
Thanks Eds for the good work you do.

liverpool fans are getting desperate these days, the only player we have looked close to signing is this sygurrdson guy, who had an above average half season with swansea. Im really starting to doubt these owners, i don't think they can support a club like lfc. we should be able to compete with the chelseas, arsenal's etc, for a club of lfc's size we should have owners who can financially support lfc, so why is it arsenal, chelsea, man city, even tottenham have owners who are multi- billionaires and we have 2 guys who don't have much more then the last 2 americans. They cannot fund or find a good enough sponsorship to fund a new stadium, surely they are at the wrong club? some of you will say we were 1 day away from admin, i don't believe that completely. There must of been more financially able people to own liverpool who were willing to support us big time. All i have seen from these guys so far, is spending ridiculous amounts of money only to give the players low wages, thus fooling the fans. we finished 8th last year, we should of been the first club to make big moves for top players, not scrapping for gylfi sygurrdson. Simply not good enough, all the teams above us have made moves to improve, liverpool are left 10 years behind. We are simply being fooled as fans, i personally don't believe these owners are any better then the last lot. I believe if an offer was put in for lfc, enabling these owners to make a profit they will sell in an instance. RedTurk

Nice possitive drivel as per usual from red turk i think you need to do some research into fsg if you think their is only 2 guy's with a few billion your mistaken fsg has quite a few more than 2 ill name a few for for you david ginsberg phillip morse larry luchino frank resnek try do some research next time you need to calm down your obviously upset due to the fact we have not signed any 1 yet if it gets to august the 31st and no 1 has come in ill happily come on here apologise to you and admit you was right but you need to have more patience not start demanding the owners sell up immediately to a oligarch because we have not bid 100 million for messi or cavani and that we wont offer 250 grand a week wages to mediocre players you criticise the owners you do realise the last 2 years we have been losing 50 million per season who do you think had paid that off why dont you have a look at the boston red sox and see what they have done for them the money they have spent the way they have turned them into 1 of the biggest baseball franchises in america and the world im still not 100% about them but they have a fantastic record and seeing as we had no oligarch's wanting to buy us i think we could have done a lot worse patience is a virtue you should try remember that

As far I understand the FSG collective is 15 or so induviduals with a combined wealth exceeding that of Abromovich... Not that this means it will be spent on LFC of course. I'm happy to be corrected if this is not right information. Thanks {Ed002's Note - FSG is a business with a number of investors. In most cases it is not the only business of these people and their personal wealth is nothing whatsoever to do with what the business can afford to do or not.}

You are entitled to your opinion Red Turk even if it is pants.
you spend 300 million saving the club from administration... then spend 100 million on players. Get rid of Hodgson when asked to... bring back Kenny when asked to.
What more do the owners have to do to dispel these doubts you have?

Redturk's posts are getting more and more comical by the day - always makes me laugh! Singred

They spent 100 million yes i agree but they were spending it on average players in order to pay them an average wages, that really inspires top players to come to lfc? I agree i had a long moan today but Be honest fans, we are lfc, we finished 8th, shouldnt we be making the big moves and the quickest moves for sOme top Players to show other top players we wana be the best and not just tell the fans we can comPete with anyone, at the same time searching and buying mid table players! RedTurk {Ed002's Note - Who chose the players?}

We did finish 8th Red Turk. So surely that means that a complete overhaul of the boardroom and coaching staff is needed. Then you concentrate on players. Well we have done the first two bits and now we are probably looking at players.
Personally I would be happy to wait until the last two weeks of the window before we signed anyone just to see the type of post Red Turk is serving up by then.
Can you imagine it!

It has been quoted on numerous occasions that he is the best player in the world.
His skill, goals for such a young age as mesmorized fans from all over the world.
Liverpool with a certain connection are keeping tabs on his situation and could make this guy a bigger star than he already is by bringing him into the european limelight.
Thats right guys, his name is Neymar.
Watch this space !!

No chance. Real Madrid might get in the way of that one, plus the 50 or 60 million you'll probably have to end up paying to get him, which would be rediclious

He wont do it in the epl

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he's stated that he's staying at Santos until after 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The Brazilian league is the wealthiest it's ever been, reflecting Brazil's booming economy. Brazilian teams no longer need to sell to European teams when they come calling.

I knew that was coming as soon as Inter canceled his contract, why on earth would a 34 year old Brazilian defender come to England to play for 2 years at the most. Sorry to shoot you down but thats just a bloody stupid rumour.
And then when the ed's or Macca are good enough to tell us a real bit of information such as the interest in Junior Vicosa, or the Juve bid for Suarez they get endless abuse for it because that not the way it works on Fifa, or football manager, or which ever game it is.

30 Jun 2012 10:46:28
Really looking forward to the new season guys, I strongly believe that our current squad is good enough to challenge for the top four, style of play is everything and lets face it Kenny proved he was behind the times. The players we have aren't as bad as they appeared to be last year and we had a lot of bad luck and a lot of poor finishing which can't go on for ever, the tide will turn eventually and we all know that some players were starting to settle down toward the end of the season. Granted we do need a couple of additions, mainly players who can dribble and hold on to the ball when pressured and with a bit of pace also. So in short don't get so wound up when we supposedly miss out on this player and that when the truth is LFC haven't officially bid for anyone yet and we may only need a bit of tweaking anyway. Give Rodgers a chance, he has a good CV and knows a lot of people in the game and may just surprise a lot of us.
Jud.

A good CV?

One years EPL experience!

Christ when I started off in computing 30 years ago one years experience would not get you a decent job.

Rogers has landed a plum job with very little to back him and he is totally an experiement by FSG one they hope will work out!

To the second poster DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you start to criticise, he has been studying the game for nearly twenty years now and has learned from two of the best managers in the game; Van Gaal and Mourinio. I'm pretty sure when you started working thirty years ago you had virtually no experience in your chosen field, certainly not twenty years worth of study. The Liverpool job is by no means a plum job at the moment and its going to be hard work so give this guy a chance, there was no way we could have got a "top class" manager given our current situation.

Studying the Game is not real world experience

I have taken course in Cookery for many years but it does not make me Jamie Oliver, does it?

Jamie Oliver cannot make beans on toast as good as you mate. Give yourself some credit.

We can pat ourselves on the back and say, 'gylfi was too expensive', but what are the alternatives, buying a more expensive player, and one who has not played in the EPL, so what is the real advantage there.
New players might be better (theoretically), but will they settle, and how long before that happens.
So we could end up paying 'double' for a Ramirez, so where is the gain really.
We should have tried a bit harder to secure Gylfi, because we wiLl just end up paying 'more' in the long run anyway!.
I struggle to understand this line of thinking!.

He only played a few months. He was player of the season in his first season in Germany yet he couldn't get a game in his second season. Let's see how he does in a full season.
The hat

We can buy some player from abroad preferably with a spanish name and when he doses not work out watch the vitriol being Spewed Rogers way!

Yes it is always a risk to buy from abroad, but i wouldn't worry. i think ramirez will do a job in england if we or whoever wants him signs him.

We have a day or two before the window opens so it could be finalised by then.

Morning eds

I am away in the first choice holiday village in turkey for a week and will be leaving my phone at home, really don't know how I am going to cope without your brilliant site for a whole week.

Do you think I will have anything exciting to look forward go when I get back or any exciting developments?

Guys lay off the eds a bit, they know the same as we so at the moment but still try their best to answer our Q'S.

Keep up the outstanding work, best site for Liverpool info bar none

Thanks eds for all you do for us scouse fans {Ed002's Note - You should be able to pick up our printed daily transfer summary in Turkey without any problems.}

We went to Turkey a cpl of years ago and a young bloke from Wales was using his phone to keep up to date with Facebook.. popping on for a few mins 3 or 4 times a day.. end of the week he had a £250 phone bill!
As much as you love LFC, leaving ur phone behind is a good idea! lol

Over the last few days I have read many posts slagging off the King, it saddens me.

The king did what he thought best for LFC.

Kenny brought in Steve Clark to tighten up the defence and we had an excellent defence for most of the season there were one ot two errors most notibly from Reina, Carra and Enrique but overall the defence was solid.

He brought in players he thought would score goals and create goals, these players don't need to be named we all know them but they let the King Down, they let LFC and themselves down too.

Transfers not working out can happen to any mgr, any mgr dipping in the transfer market is taking a risk, ask Fergie he bought more than his fair share of sub standard performers but the difference is Utd could afford to rectify these mitakes, FSG well there are not in the same financial position. Hence the King was sacked and FSG are trying another way with Rogers.

People should not forget what the King has done for LFC and the City of Liverpool.

Slagging the King off is just plain stupid.

It could have all been sooo different if last years summer signings worked out. There is a fine line between sucess and failure.

Spot on mate

Any so called supporter who has the gall to make bad comments about Kenny Dalglish is not a true supporter in my eyes. He is one of us, and has given his life to our club
Tel 1949

Look at all those who disagree

Fair number of non true supporters then?

It may be me just being ignorant or plain stupid but..who is macca? {Ed002's Note - He is one of the posters who makes an effort to keep folks informed of what is going on at Liverpool.}

...and much like the eds, he is criticised and blamed - still more - accused for giving false evidence when the likes of Aguero and Cavani don't sign for us, as if he is personally holding the negotiations and they blew up in his face.

Ah ok, thanks guys!

This is not aimed at the poster, its jus relevant to the post.

The levels of stupidity from some people shock me! The reason myself and many other people come on this site is for the information the Ed's and Macca bring us and then no matter what they say, most people seem to disagree and show their displeasure. Some Ed's bring us information and some Ed's also have general footie/player chats, all of which they do for free. Macca has access to some form of information, he has previously stated either himself or a friend of his is a friend of a current LFC player and for obvious reasons, he did not state who nor did anyone ask. They take time out of their own days to do this for us and most of us would be happy to pay a small fee for more of forum site, as we are all pleased with the service they provided, but as the old sayin goes 'The best things in life are free.'
People are taught manners from a young age, even my 4 year old daughter shows respect to people and says please and thank you to everythin, you wouldnt think it was hard for an adult to do the same.

Hi all, believe or not you'll see, my uncles girlfriends aunties nephew 2nd cousins dog caught wind of a rumour in barca that messi will switch to LFC in a straight swap for eccleston...tbf we're kinda losing out!

Jokes been done to death

Was it a joke?

I really think people under-rate moses but I have when we as first linked I thought, "what the hell? He's like 30" only to later realise he's 21!

The only thing consistent about Moses is Liverpool are consistent in signing average players

Above poster. those average players are 10 times better than you can hope of being mate.

I don't get why so many people are saying good riddance to siggurdson because he's going to spurs for more money. From what i can gather reading different posts on here and comments from the ed's is that he never had an offer from liverpool since they never agreed a fee with hoffenheim. I might just be putting 2 and 2 together here eds but i get the impression that if a fee had been agreed then there was a very real possibility he would have chosen us even if the contract wasn't as good as the one spurs offered. This isn't a dig at FSG or Rodgers either, they clearly had a valuation of the player and if they felt that hoffenheims valuation wasn't a good deal then fair play to them for not being held to ransom. My point is it seems that the kid has accepted the best offer on the table for him and nothing to do with rejecting liverpool for more money.

I could be wrong obviously but just my opinion, im sure plenty out there will have a different one :)

Wasn't it that Hoff' increased the value of the player once LFC interest was established, then on top of that Sigg then wanted daft wages? If correct, then there should be no further negative posts toward Rodgers or LFC on this matter, in fact perhaps apologies are needed for some of the more 'tantrum' like posts I've read this week.

Its sour grapes, he would have been a good acquisition, and no doubt 'cheaper' than the other alternatives.

No matter what happens with sigurdson you have got to remember don't hassle the hoff

I wanted siggurdsson to come to Liverpool but reading between the lines Liverpool have not offered the same in terms of wages than spurs were willing to give. I dont blame the player and I am happy that Liverpool said "thanks but no thanks" as well.
1 thing that really annoys me is this idea that if we dont get siggurdsson then it means we are skint and are missing out on our targets....
Newcastle last year showed that player recruitment is about the quality of your scouting system... Cabaye- 5million, Tiote- 4 million Ben Arfa- 4 Million Cisse 10 million Ba - free.
If these players would have signed for Liverpool last year then the posts would have been exactly the same on here.... spending money on average players etc..
When the penny drops that good players can be found by not paying over the odds then I will be a lot happier.

Hi Ed's, you get a lot of crap on here and I actually gave you some proper info direct from the horses mouth a short while ago and you didn't post it! I can understand you need to sort the rubbish out but sometimes you are missing true threads. If you want actual fact I suggest you post it. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about. Unsigned posts are hardly going to be memorable to the Editors.}

Well what was the info then FFS?

Do we really need to be looking to buy midfielders with the potential of cole and aquilani returning from loan and Lucas returning from fitness, think it would make sense to offload a few and add some wonga to the coffers to strength other areas??

Charlie

Really? We need to go over this again?

30 Jun 2012 09:29:48
What first comes to my mind is the whole sig situation. The old saying, "you win some, you lose some"... well if we don't get sig, don't cry about it, we'll definitely be getting someone else, or as some of the Eds have mentioned, BR may have seen a better player for LFC i.e Ramirez (although no bids have been made for this player, just a series of inquiries and strong interest).

I'd also like to say that I really do hope we get Rondon as our signing for up front. A bit off topic but in my eyes, the kid "could", I mean "could", end up being like Torres where we buy him for 20 (or less) and sell for much more. The kid has real potential and a real eye for goal. Perfect for us and well suited to the EPL... IMO.

One last thing I'd like to say is, the signing's we make, I can't see them being the Hulk's, Hazard's, Falcao's etc although all are brilliant, I see BR going for player's who have either slipped under the radar or player's who like Shelvey, are bought for long term purposes.

All in all, I see a bright future for us, I've supported LFC through the toughest of times and I've often been told about how we are no longer "a top 4 side". I'd like to tell my mates and others that we are once again the LFC that people fear and the LFC, which people will remember for many years to come. Our time is near lads, we're all getting inpatient I know, but keep you're patience, it's times like these the club needs us most! YNWA!
JS

If we keep buying for the future

we'll never get anywhere

We need players for NOW

To this fella.......

"If we keep buying for the future

we'll never get anywhere

We need players for NOW"-------------------------------------

I bet that doesn't quite look as intelligent published on here as it did in your head, does it?

No it looks very intelligent published

Of course its depends on the level of intelligence of those that read it as to whether its good or bad?

No we buy now for the future. hold on to them until they become world class, then we will be somewhere.
derryred

IF only it was that easy, its not not and it wont work.

Heres why?

The current crop of players will age by the time the new breed are maturing, also where are the new breed going to get EPL experience, also Man City and Chelsea will just keep buying off the shelf world class players.

Ed I read this every day and applaud you on a great interactive site and this is my first ever post. I have been a LFC supporter now for 40yrs and have seen the euphoric highs and lows now leading into the 5th decade. I must say im excited and apprehensive about the new season. We have a unknown quantity of a new manager (1 season premier league) and a side half full of bench warmers. There are quite a few players we need and I along with everyone else are anxious to see what quality we can positively attract and who will actually sign and wear the shirt with pride and honour and not for money. Your thoughts please Ed on positives YNWA.

30 Jun 2012 09:06:25
Gilfi Sigurdsson would of been a great signing for us. I dont know what his wage demands were and i am not sure what his club were eventualy asking for him but i do think he would of been werth the extra. If next season he has a flyer for spurs what will we say then?. We should of tried harder to sign him

It's almost certainly the lure of first team football that helped sway him. He will play more games at Spurs than he will with us and for a upcoming star who knows he is good that counts for a lot. RED LENIN

If the guy doesn't want to play for us,he's not worth it. If 40/50 grand a week is not enough then he should be ashamed of himself. When I think of hard earned money I am going to spend at this club this year again, I certainly don't want any of it to go to the likes of Sigurdsson. He may be good, but who the hell does he think he is.
KJS

But that's the point - will he get more playing time at Spurs? AVB hasn't been appointed yet and already has ideas about who he wants to bring in. Who's to say Sigurdsson is someone he wants, just coz Levy has signed him? Just ask Dos Santos how that feels or even Lukaka (spelling) at Chelsea, who recently slagged AVB off for the way he was treated.

I reckon its a big risk & can see him regretting it in time

Regrets I have but few but then again too few too mention

Sig did what he had to do and saw it through without exemption

Frankie

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
sig ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way

Let's say you had 2 job offers, with the same job specification, role, responsibility etc. The 2 companies are highly respected and looking to progress and grow. The main difference is the salary, 1 company is offering significantly more than the other, which job would you choose? 99% of you would go with the higher pay.

I'm a little disappointed he has chosen Spurs, because I thought he was nailed on to sign for us, but LFC will move on.

RedSG

I really think Levy's interests and efforts should have been to get a manager before the transfer window opens and let the manager pick his targets. Like you said the new manager might come in and not fancy Sigurdsson, but thats the risk that Glyfi is taking. Its stupid really when the other club involved are a huge club with a terrific fan base who have just taken on a manager that he has played under and thrived under. It's strange and obviously money driven. All it tells me is that on Tottenhams behalf they must know that they are losing Modric or Van Der Vaart or both.

He never chose spurs over us because we didn't agree afee with hoffenheim

I think it's fair to say that before FSG took over and started to sort things out behind the scene, there was too much information coming out about LFC and stuff going on behind the scenes.
Now there is virtually nothing. Not even transfer rumours.
It's slowly returning to the way it should be.
However, in an age where everyone has got used to finding out what they want to know whenever they want it can be frustrating.
Now you have journo's that don't have a clue so have to make up stories (what's new there?) saying this player is on his way or that player is our first choice target. When in fact they just don't know.

People need to chill.

If we are after a player and he signs then fair enough.
If we aren't, but the press made up stories that we weren't - nothing can be done about that.
If we are after a player and he signs for someone else on the basis that the transfer fee was too high or the wage demands unrealistic, just be pleased that we now have sensible people in charge that will not take us to the brink of administration.

FSG have already shown they are prepared to spend money.
I think they have been right to put a management structure in place to make sure money isn't wasted as it has been over the years.

There are plenty of players out there and just because they are not in the so-called world-class bracket, does not mean that won't improve or that they won't make us a better team.

Don't forget, the team needs to be greater than the sum of all parts.

Every match, we need all players to play to at least a 7 or 8 out of 10 rating every game. Out of these, two to three players need to be in the 8-9 out of 10 rating and we need 1 or 2 in the 10 out of 10 rating.

Over a period of time, the players not achieving those standards can be moved on or coached to improve. Newer players can be brought in that have proven to or have the potential to look like they will be able to achieve that.

FSG are clueless and this will be shown in time

How do you know they're clueless?...you don't!! so jog-on

Eds.

You told us that we would sign siggudson so I put five k on the nose! Now this has happened!

{Ed005's Note - We also said that nothing was certain as everyone knows (well now they do).}

Sorry mate but 5k?!?!?!? Its your own fault.

5k I think you need to seek help mate.

My word you ed's get blamed for everything. Next you'll be blamed for the economic crisis etc. Lunacy!
KiwiRed

Surely he's taking the piss eds. haha

Yea its all ed005's fault quick every 1 get the ed005 out tshirts at the ready and have a picket line outside liverpool rumours tower we can all shout scab at any Ed that crosses the picket line until we get a sincere apology from him over the fact liverpool have not signed any 1 yet and the fact sig has chosen spurs over us lol

Im off down the bookies to see if I can put a bet on "nothing was certain" running in the 5 o'clock at cheltenham... just like ed 5 said!

so we are after mark davis from bolton according to the Mirror, well i for one can't wait for the season to begin, i'm looking forward already to be annoyed and dismayed.
why get a bright young manager and basically ask him to get good football from the same players as last season. give him money, we need a few world class players, 15m for alonso or straight swap with johnson.

So you're reading the Daily Mirror!? It gets worse, you choosing to believe the Daily Mirror.

30 Jun 2012 07:25:30
Quite positive about BR's appointment, it's got potential to be a building something that belongs to us, rather than buying in someone else's quick fix. But it is a bit annoying how Spurs have gazumped us again, even without the twitchy wheeler dealer at the helm. Particularly as they are one of our closest rivals for that elusive 4th spot. He did look like the kind of productive attacking midfielder we've been lacking (with obvious exception).

Do you think AVB was approached, but was not offered enough ("...for the right project")? Hope this isn't a sign of things to come...

I agree we shouldn't be taken to the cleaners again, and I know there's no war chest as such, but do you think we have the money to compete for the right man should he be available, or are we just going to have to get used to taking a punt?

Ramirez and Saurez would shut me up (for Liverpool, not Juventus ...or Spurs!)

Oh God, the bloody window isn't even open yet!

luke de jong going to newcastle for 10 mill ...what are we up to in the transfer market ...this is doing my nut in now ...come on fsg get your act together !!! {Ed005's Note - No he's not. Newcastle have opened talks with his club regarding a transfer, but Sly Sports News reckon he is valued at £10m - but what do they know. And get your act together? Why is the window shut in a week?}

You need to get your act together mate because LFC have changed manager. Rodgers may have different ideas.

###BREAKING NEWS###
Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of signing a young Ballymena youth prospect.
His nickname is "Give er the welly Pele" given to him when he once forgot his boots and trained in wellies and ran rings around everyone, also scored a screamer from 30 yards where the welly went into top corner.
Exiting times ahead YNWA. {Ed005's Note - Nothing like a good Ballymena accent. "Ballymenahay" - still put mud in your football boots when playing?}

Hey!! im from ballymena and i have never heard of him!

30 Jun 2012 06:09:51
Brandon Rogers has no idea who to buy is that why we are not buying anyone or being linked with anyone decent. Him trying to purchase Gylfi Sigurdsson isn't original thinking at all and all new managers get judged on the first transfer they purchase.

The first one is most important as the fans and management are judging the managers abilities. Rafa bought Alonso and Wenger bought Patrick Vieira. So who ever he purchases has to be a quality player that is able to be a level 10 player for such a big club.

Otherwise he is likely to get sacked
within a couple of months, poor signing & poor start would finish him at the club.

{Ed005's Note - All managers get judged on the first transfers they purchased? First time I've heard that ethos. Plus, Rafa's first signing was Josemi from Malaga.}

Thank the lord Brandon is not our manager then hehe?

Iggypop

Well kk's first signing was suarez but hey look what he did after that..

Yeah this idea of being judged by 1st signing i've heard before but is stupid and there is no way BR will get sacked in 2 months and i seriously doubt within a year regardless of success rare. Clubs cant afford to sack managers like that, other than man utd, city and chelse

gareth

Xabi Alonso was signed towards the end of August 2004 along with Luis Garcia.

Can't sleep, work is stressing me out... came on this site and people are posting and the ed's are still ed'ing at this time of night - go to bed!

Okay, now football related matters _ I've only just realised that Liverpool must play in the Third Qualifying Round and then the Play-off round before they get in to UEFA Europa League... that's a bit of a test for Rodgers...

3rd Qual rnd - 1st leg 02/08/12 2nd leg 09/08/2012
Play off round - 1st leg 23/08/12 2nd leg 30/08/2012

...and then we are in!

I do not want gylfi $igurdsson anymore.
I do not think mathias suarez's price tag is just so I would rather opt for someone else.
I think Hendo will have a huge season for us.
I think we will sign gaston ramirez and he will play in a special role. I'll show formation later in this post.
I also think we will sign a right winger
I also think shelvey will go on loan.

Reina
Johnson ms dagger Enrique
Lucas gerrad
Rw suarez ramirez
Carroll
Hendo will have a big season because.... Gerrad is now slowing down. He can't play ever game. But he still can play 15 or so games.

Also Ed if you could give me your opinion on mathias Suarez
* I think he is a great player, but worth 25m, maybe not so much.around 15m we should spend.
AnfieldUSA

I'd say for M.Suarez around 16m pounds 20m euros

This would be a good transfer period.....

Gaston Ramirez for "Right wing"; £16.2m / 20m euros

Matias Suarez for "Striker/forward"; 16.2m / 20m euros

Granero for "AM and CM"; £7.5m / 9.3m euros

and a back up left back £5m

= £44.9m

Reina
johnson, skrtel, agger, enrique
gerrard, lucas
M.Suarez*, Granero*, Ramirez*
l.suarez

subs from; doni, kelly, coates, carra, LB*, henderson, shelevy, downing, cole, bellamy, carroll

I think hendo will take a huge amount of money off of us too,

"Hendo will have a big season for us" you don't even have him in your team m8! Hope Ramirez signs as you mentioned though. Him, a tricky RW and a poacher and I think we'll be in a good place.

Mark the Selby Red

30 Jun 2012 03:39:13
Why do we always fall in to the same trap of believing any old crap about New players coming to the club? I can see Brendan respecting the clubs ethos of doing the transfer dealings in private and not through the www.com time will be the judge of who comes and goes in the few weeks and not news international. Keep the faith fellow reds just like the orbit of the sun our time will come again. Ben the ball.

decided to look at this uruguay olympic team rumour. yes they are training in Liverpool. however t
in uruguay there is a team clled liverpool coincidently. so technically cavani has been seen in liverpool. disagree or agree but a quick search on google says it all. JLFC

There is not a city in Uruguay named Liverpool. There is, however, a club named Liverpool de Montevideo based in Montevideo. So if the Uruguayans are traning in any Liverpool, it's certainly this one.

Why train in Uruguay when the Olympics are in England? With our Uruguay connections it makes perfect sense for them to train at Melwood, in this country, before moving down to London for the games.

I never said there was a city i said team called liverpool...JLFC

Shouldve kept Dalglish merely as an ambassador.Meet/Greet potential Transfer targets when they visit for talks with agent.And other prmotional roles,but away from Rodgers restve time.Missed a trick there

I am sure he will eventually be in some sort of role but they cant have him around the club after he just got sacked he is a legend yes but he was an employee all the same you dont keep around fired employees

Kenny would be mad to come back until FSG are gone

30 Jun 2012 02:26:32
Tika taka fine but needs an end product,ala Italy unlike Arsenal at times {Ed005's Note - I agree mate I think at times, especially with Spain also, it's just pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass with nothing coming from it. I think that's why next year Carroll could be a big player for us - he offers something different. But the movement needs to be a lot better from our players for it to work aswell.}

Suarez, lucas, agger and maxi should all show them how it's done as they are the best at making themselves available from the players at liverpool right now.

30 Jun 2012 01:15:55
The management team of Rafa Benitez was data driven. Their track-record in the Premier League era is second only to Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. From what I understand, that management team was able to achieve the results it did whilst being repeatedly undermined, let down or just ignored by a commercial leadership team that was hell-bent on steering the club into oblivion.

Moneyball is true, and value really is everywhere if you're smart enough to see it, then surely our club should have been ideally placed to take advantage? It seems that, based on results, that hasn't happened,

If Rafa Benitez was a true moneyball manager as some have stated then why wouldn't this management team let him come back. Rafa did recycle alot of players looking for diamond in the rough and our net spends where within budgets, but our turnover was high, which is expected if we where truly acting like a money ball club.

Have the americans had the perfect manager sat in his Liverpool home waiting for his job back.

Nope.
KiwiRed

I think so, but for right now i back BR i give him two seasons until i start calling for his head as 1 season seems a bit cliche for us Liverpool supporters. but then again he could be doing well which i hope

Get over Rafa

"their track record was 2nd only to.. Arsenal" I dont see how this is true! In fact im pretty sure its nonsense. Why are people like you still crowing about rafa, do you live in the past in all other areas of life? Get over it and move on its finished with rafa.

Lacina Traore 6.4 million move is off. vory Coast striker Lacina Traore is set to join big spenders Anzhi Makhachkala, which is a same. 6ft 4inch striker that some very impressive stats this year. Traore was bought by Kuban Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League for approximately £5m in February 2011 and now seems to be moving on again. This guy has all the abilities of Carroll, but seems to score goals.

Ramirez signing for juventus over the weekend! According to guardian! Liverpool acting far to slow again with players who r crying out to join us! Siggy, de jong, ramirez, krasic, affelay, sturridge, dempsey n rondon! Just to name a few who liverpool will again miss out on! Why r we so rubbish in the transfer market eds? Please answer me that? Im intrigued to hear ur answer as u said we wud defo sign siggy n how wrong u were hey? A disheartened n embarassed liverpool fan! Not a good start for the rodgers regime hey peeps? Red 4 life {Ed001's Note - I never said we would defo sign Siggy, I don't know where this rubbish is coming from.}

You sure Ramirez is going to Juve?
Pretty sure they're set on Marco Veratti, who will come to the club when they sign James Troisi, who will be loaned to Pescara as a part of Juve's deal to sign Veratti. Also, they have Giovinco, he's finally signed a permanent deal. So i'm doubtful as to whether they'd really want Ramirez aswell.

If Juve get Veratti, they will not sign Ramirez.

"Smithy{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't care if Suarez stayed or left, yes he is a great player, but he is on the sidelines far too often. I would take anything over 30m for him, personally, and buy Soldado to replace him.}"
Thanks for the reply Ed001, and I agree that some of the Liverpool fans who are talking as though the world will end if he leaves are being a bit pathetic, there is no need to be overly concerned if he leaves, as he has one of the worst conversion rates in the Prem, and whilst we all love him and he is truly great player to watch, we need someone who can stick it in the net. I think we would let him go for about 35 million myself, as I know think he is more than likely off, which is a shame but we are Liverpool Football Club, we will move on. I apologise if through answering this you've been abused by the troll's out in force again, just a bunch of freaks who ruin it for everyone else.

Smithy {Ed001's Note - it's ok mate, I am used to them. He was getting better and better as the season went on, but mostly because he wasn't diving all the time after his ban. I just think sometimes you are better off without disruptive influences like him in the team.}

I have to agree. If he can really get his s**t together, he'd be great to hold on to, but there are plenty of fish in the sea...

Some of the best players these days, have a tendency to be problematic...Balotelli, Tevez, Rooney, just to name a few. Sometimes a little wildfire is better than no fire at all, if you know what I mean.

HK

You missed drogba and C.ronaldo

50 million is a fair price for him

Totally agree with HK`s post.

I'm not going to complain like others but judging by the amount of proposed targrts coming and going, are the owners reluctant to invest in the team due to the way their money was wasted last Summer. Or is Brendan Rodgers onto new targets. I hope they haven't given up on Luuk De Jong as he could be a great prospect. Do the eds know if the interest has been sustained?

Silly season is upon us. (unlucky Eds)
Is it just me or is anyone else missing the the insight and wisdom of DANIEL HALWEL? {Ed001's Note - just you I think....}

And the Spearing Report. Classic.

He has returned as "the scout"

Everyone saying dont panic think back over years to who weve missed out on for sake of few more quid.Do i need to list them? Now think of our performances last season.Think of players Rivals are signing with Champs Leauge Money.Think of negative reaction of some players targeted-We are just another club to a 20 year old johnny foreigner if not to us.My question to the optimists is-You use window as excuse,and say a lot made up Tabloid stuff(true)but why have rivals secured some of their'targets'already???

Chelsea won the CL, united has been successful the last 20 odd years, city's filthy rich, arsenal has popeye doyle's french connection. All have CL campaigns next season so can attract big names. spurs and recently [arguably] newcastle are on the up. Have a little faith mate and see how things unfold over the summer AND the next few seasons.

Madrid won't be renewing Xabi's contract! I'm headed to the doc to have a kidney removed and sold, and if all of you do as well then we can have him back in a red shirt muy rapido! Azkop

SSN are reporting that Real Madrid aren't renewing Xabi Alonso's contract (they don't renew over 30's contracts)

Alonso is one of the best passers of the ball and is a type of player who could play until 35 due to the nature of his style of play.

Take on a Pirlo role, he's one of the only other players alive that could do it really

Haha "he's one of the only other players alive", a bit dramatic isnt it? Pretty sure theres some fairly decent ex players who are still alive who could pull off that role. Jan Molby, hes still kicking isnt he?
CQ {Ed005's Note - Don't tell me Night of the living Dead is actually happening? Damn it.}

I got side tracked, if thats true aout Alonso you're right he will still be quality in 4 years, definately worth snapping up in my eyes. CQ

Funny how much is made of Pirlo's age, isn't he only a year older than Gerrard.
Clearly in good shape, and fitter than many players younger than him.

Alonso sooo over rated

In his 5 years at LFC he played well for 18 months TOPS

I feel fans should E mail Fenway and ask do they really have Clout(which i feel is main issue) or even have LFC s best interests at heart.Great operating within means,but we aint gona do it on shoestring.Forrest days have gone.They need reminding just how far behind we are.A long term plan is fine,but remember the gap will get harder and harder to close.Romantic days of doing on a budget and building year on year have gone.With the reward of Champs Leauge revenue and Kudos

So what you're saying is you would rather the club spent big and be a few hundred mill in the red?

TheBA300

No Ba 300 spend would be a start mate

yet again, liverpool, too slow, gylfi young talented and resale value, and we have lost out to managerless spurs, really disappointing being a supporter at times.....we brought a load of rejects last term, (enrique excluded) and now we lose out on some more top talent, rubbish. so slow

Was sig really that good?. . he hasn't done it season in or season out and tottenham will treat him like David Bentley or Niko Kranjcar. We really don't know anything about him. We thought Charile Adams was great at Blackpool. When you have a whole team centered around you it is easy to look good.

Why are you pretending to be a supporter?

There are really not many things this club could do that should make you feel disappointed to be a fan, mate.

Jesus Christ, we're now being linked to Mark Davies of Bolton. Come back Torben Picnic and Andries Voronin, all is forgiven.

Ozone

Davies is very talented. Is he LFC quality I don't know but wouldn't mind him being given the opportunity

I really like Stuart Holden as a player if he is back from his injury and back to his best. He was great a couple of seasons ago. I also like Martin Petrov and think he puts in a very good cross.

Mark Davies has the potential to be a superb player,great touch,great control,can pass well and has an eye for goal.

Good grief.

Hi, i was reading in the echo today how bentiez fell out with alsonso initially cos alsonso was talking to arsenal about a move and rafa went mad. is this true, it would certainly change my opinion of what happened cos i always thought it was all rafas fault? {Ed001's Note - they fell out because Alonso wanted to be at the birth of his child, nothing to do with a move.}

To further this, could you please tell me if he wanted to leave to RM? Or, would he have rather stayed at LFC but Benitez wanted him out? Or, too much money to reject was offered?

Thanks, Ell. {Ed001's Note - Rafa wanted to sell him, he wanted the fresh start at Real Madrid, with a chance of winning trophies and cementing a place in the Spain team. So it was best for both.}

As much as I respect Rafa, the birth of one's child is an unmissable event...

McSnuggles

I would find it very hard to have any respect for a man that would be happy to take something like being present for the birth of your own child away from you.

Low...

Yeah for me rafas worst moment as lfc manager for sure, 2nd was when he actually tried to flog him to juve and bring in barry as a replacement. CQ
