A lot of critism for Mignolet (I'm not really his biggest fan either), but do people realise that in sport, players will mess up! That's how matches get results.
I asky you, how did Karius get his injury? He missed a ball he was try to punch, and punched 1 of our players.
Now, I have been able ti watch the pre season matches, but I have read about them. Karius also missed a ball in 1 of the other matches I'm sure? So that's 2 mistakes in a few games. I'm not saying we need to start slating him, but if it was Mignolet who missed those?
I understand we all want the best players for our beloved Liverpool, but we should not "hate" certain players, then start blaming them for everything, and think that if they play, we will lose!
(I was not slating Karius, I was merely trying to point something out)

It's ok if your talking about a GK like De Gea who had a torrid 1st season with UTD, a few mistakes but it's every season. It's not only the errors, you could possibly forgive him if he made up for it in other ways but he's hopeless in the air, cannot catch, hasn't a clue about communication, does not command his area and can't kick a ball straight further than the length of his own leg. i'm sorry but this isn't unfair grief but unfortunate fact. He's a shot stopper pure and simple.

30 Jul 2016 20:17:11
3 years?

Is it 50 goals a season conceded?

Hes not got the quality for us to suceed with him, even with suarez up top.

30 Jul 2016 20:19:58
Him and lovren basically arrived at the ball at the same time. Lovren was a shade ahead of him to get the ball before karius punched it clean.

30 Jul 2016 20:29:17
Then why did Klopp offer him a new contract (I havnt a clue either) but, he's OUR goalkeeper so let's get behind him til Karius comes back, stop slating our own players guys, atleast not until the end of the season, then we will know who we need to ship out next year 👍
#youllneverealkalone.

30 Jul 2016 20:44:23
Andy, you seem to feel that the criticism of mignolet is unfair. But how many points did he cost us alone last season?

Its not like it was his first season between the sticks for us either. The fact is he is error prone and average at best and the criticism he has had till now has on the whole been deserved.

I cannot also believe u are comparing him to karius who has played zero competitive games. Whi missed a ball that was headed out his hand/ fist by his own player and comparing him to a seasoned gk who has played for two prem teams yet makes the same mistakes on a consistent basis.

I don't know if karius will be number one but ine thing for certain mignolet should not be our number 1. I pray to god he does not prove me right at the start of the season but experience tells me he will cost us some points.

I put him and moreno in the same category, they are and should be back up only.

30 Jul 2016 21:51:59
Migs can be a good shot stopper but if you watch him closely he never tried to save with his legsfeet. This results in him trying to get down with his hand and often the ball is too close to him for this to be effective.

I think we should cut him "some" slack as in my opinion he is also playing behind one of the worst Liverpool defences for many years. Lovren, Sakho, Moreno and co. have left Migs all too exposed. But he has been poor for a few seasons so we have all seen the good and bad.

Karius making a couple of errors in pre-season is no cause for concern.

30 Jul 2016 22:51:40
Making mistakes is part and parcel of life in general.

Doesn't give you an excuse for not being good enough. As an engineer I can't regularly send out an electrically faulty part, cost my company thousands of pounds, and not expect criticism!

Once every so often? Yeah sure. Once a game? Come on lads. You're defending the indefensible. It is ludicrous to suggest Mignolet is anything other than a bad goalkeeper.

Seems a really nice lad, a good pro, and he does make the odd really good save. But for every good save there is literally about 5 mistakes; ranging right from a poor kick out, all the way up to conceding an indirect free kick for holding on to the ball for about 30 seconds!

30 Jul 2016 22:57:28
How many goals did karius' errors cost us? How many goals does migs errors cost us? That is the difference.
When karius missed that ball with his foot he scrambled and got it away before the forward was able to pounce on it.

30 Jul 2016 23:21:22
James Milner happy to play Mr Versatile for Klopp this season. And will cover in defence when needed.
True professional .

31 Jul 2016 01:11:33
Andy, you are embarrassing yourself by defending the indefensible and criticizing a player who had committed one erro, which you conveniently omitted from your post, he made up for and prevented a goal from happening. The other error based on your own evaluation, is not even an error as he did what he was supposed to do and came out to lunch e ball, just as Lovren did well and dealt with the danger. There is where your argument falls flat. Mingo has been here for three years and is getting worse. We need a better defence around him which Klopp is addressing but Karius is a capable young GK who I am ready to allow to improve just as I have Mingo three years to prove his worth which he hasn't and can't do. Hence, I propose you support Karius at least for the same amount of time I supported Mingo and hope he does well instead of clutching at straws and slating him for no reason.

31 Jul 2016 01:36:24
It doesn't matter who plays in the Liverpool shirt, we have to support them, I will anyway #lfc ⚽️.

31 Jul 2016 05:28:18
So what do you suggest? Karius is injured, do we just forfeit the games while he's out?
Or do we go out and buy another goal keeper?
Mignolet is our 2nd choice keeper, he may not be what we want, that's why he's 2nd choice.
A poster said on here earlier, that 1 of our major problems last season, was that opposition gets past our midfield way too easy, and I agree! Yet we don't look at that, because we like our midfield players.
The point of my post was that on this site, if we start to not like a player, then they get blamed for everything!
Mignolet does have a lot of faults, but then that's when our midfield needs to try harder to break down play, when our defenses needs to step up. Not to help Mignolet out, but for the TEAM.
In the same token, that's when we the fans need to support, we need to back our players. Karius is injured, Mignolet is our next choice now, let's back him.

31 Jul 2016 05:36:29
No one is saying he should not be supported, there's a difference between the two u know, blind faith is not always good. The turbulence around the world atm is testimony to that. However, the op while telling us we should not quiet righly criticise him for countless mistakes then goes on to criticise our other goalkeeper, go figure.

31 Jul 2016 19:21:11
He didn't miss the ball at all, Lovren headed it. If Lovren hadnt headed it he would have punched it. Good goalkeeping and hard luck with the injury.

30 Jul 2016 18:34:15
Can anyone see us playing with a back 3 in some games? Matip, Lovren and Klavan?

Perhaps this is why JK is not too fussed about signing a LB?

Just a thought.

Believable4 Unbelievable9

30 Jul 2016 19:54:36
Don't think so Andy.

30 Jul 2016 20:32:28
I like the sound of that, especially with us having so many midfielders.

30 Jul 2016 21:30:12
Klavan will get the rest of preseason at lb i rekon. See if he can nail it down before we spend on anyone else.

Chilwell costs 20 milliom now befores he's kicked a ball thsi season think we have messed up there big time.

12 mil isn't really a loss if it all went to crap, but a steal if it went how everyone was predicting. shame, ime to move on.

30 Jul 2016 17:46:12
Eds do you understand why everyone is again banging on about Hector? Have I missed something?

It was a case of Amavi last I heard.

This isn't a Liverpol related question but has a player ever retired from doemstic footbal to concentrate on International Football?

30 Jul 2016 13:57:46
Yes. Moussa Sissoko.

30 Jul 2016 14:11:07
Classic answer Barnesy!

30 Jul 2016 14:31:59
What a waste of time that would be. How would he earn a living? Do players get paid on international duty? I've never known the answer to that.

30 Jul 2016 16:15:25
Very good barnesy 😀😀😀.

30 Jul 2016 16:20:16
get to see the world .

30 Jul 2016 16:20:35
Would they get selected?

30 Jul 2016 16:29:39
I don't know if it's standard around the world, but players for both the US men and women's teams are certainly compensated. Various articles out there about the disparity in pay between the two here in the US (e. g. around $100k for 20 friendlies for the women, more than $250k for the men) .

{Ed001's Note - Ronaldo donated his pay from tournaments to charity, it is standard to pay the players.}

30 Jul 2016 18:12:59
Yeah England team donate there earnings to charity. Think there's a few that get all the money. Least they can do these days with the amounts they earn from their clubs.

30 Jul 2016 22:59:14
Viduka went without a domestic club for a while but still captained Australia.

30 Jul 2016 12:39:56
Surely Flanno would have been better kept to play left back than sent out on loan.

He's better at LB than Moreno and if we couldn't get the preferred Chilwell deal done then he should have been plan b.

Believable12 Unbelievable7

30 Jul 2016 16:22:32
we don't know all the facts, heard Ragner will play some games at left back .

31 Jul 2016 01:13:12
We are still looking at LBs like Amavi and Charlie Taylor, per Eds.

30 Jul 2016 12:26:03
Hi Ed's

What do you think of Jetro Williams as a player, I seem to remember a few years back he was highly rated in his teens, I know it could just be rumours and false at that, ps thx as always for the site it must take a lot of work keeping us all in check 😄.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed023's Note - Haven't seen much of him to comment Andy sorry, perhaps a poster could help out?}

30 Jul 2016 12:56:20
I only had a look on you tube. He seems solid enough defending. Without taking on his man he likes to get a cross in early. And from what I have seen, his delivery seems to be quality. I think our front men or attacking midfielders would strive on that type of service.

30 Jul 2016 13:36:04
His assist numbers when fit are really good buts it's holland Altidore was good out there.

30 Jul 2016 14:06:03
Apparently he has his fitness and injury problems, namely dodgy knees. Possibility that he would never pass a medical at most clubs. Seems a solid competent player when fit, but not a worldly and too big a chance to take on his health and fitness.

30 Jul 2016 16:23:47
Seems perfect for us .

29 Jul 2016 12:38:49
Question for Ed002,

Are you Father Christmas? If so, have I been a good boy this year as I want a Topps Match Attax Klavan card.

Also, in other news and just a personal opinion. In regards to left backs I'm all for us going for defensively orientated kind of player as Clyne on the other side will show a want to attack. So kind of like the Finnan Riise combo where one bursts forward and one remains soley a defending fullback I personally think Erik Pieters would be a very good option for Liverpool. No nonsense, gets on with it and does the job Moreno hates. Just an opinion anyways.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - For the right money I can be anyone you want me to be Blair.}

30 Jul 2016 11:19:35
Dam it forgot to follow up on my post below. But if I had.

So that's what all the Eds are short for, I thought it was because they had small legs!

Oh well belated birthday wishes and joke for you ED001, I tried but the signal where I was camping was pants!

29 Jul 2016 08:36:11
This may seem a silly question but how come this site is ran by a load of guys all called Edward? Is it just a strange coincidence?

Higgins
{Ed001's Note - we are all handpicked due to having a name beginning with Ed. There are Edwards, Edwins, Edinas, Eduards, Edwinas, Edgars and even an Edelbert (I will leave you to guess who the last one is) . }

Ahh.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I so hope you are not considering a career in comedy! Mind if Michael McIntyre can make it, being funny is not an important part of making a career on the comedy circuit....}

30 Jul 2016 14:54:49
You just got to look a bit Funny ed!

{Ed001's Note - Ed007 should be a natural then.}

30 Jul 2016 09:32:57
I remember a few years back when Spurs signed Brad Friedel to be their experienced back up. In the end he went on to be their first choice keeper well into his 40's.

Hopefully Manninger has enough experience and quality to cover for Karius. Because we cannot start the season with Mignolet again.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

30 Jul 2016 10:58:09
Yes we can start the season with Migs. I want Karius as first choice like everyone else. Migs has deserved some critism for sure but he's still a decent keeper if not top 4 standard. He has my full support for these 6 premier league games he will be covering.

I'm fed up with this over the top critism of Mignolet. He is an top backup keeper and I for one am happy we have him to back us up in this time of need.

30 Jul 2016 11:10:58
of course we can start the season with migs. I'm no migs fan, but I thought the point was that we'd have karius and migs fighting for the #1 spot and pushing each other. I think migs is fine as a back-up, and he gets a chance to really cement his position knowing that karius will be busting the door down when he returns. it wasnt like this before. it'll be heart in the mouth at times maybe lol. but to be fair, migs has shown some quality as well. no reason why he can't again.

30 Jul 2016 12:13:52
Migs has never shown me anything to suggest he is even Championship quality. I have tried to support him for 3+ seasons now, but I just can't. He is literally not good at anything.

His shot stopping is slightly avove average. However; His reflexes are poor, he has rubber ankles when it comes to stopping shots with his feet, he cannot kick/ pass/ throw the ball, he cannot catch, he cannot claim crosses, he cannot punch, his decision making is awful, he isn't vocal enough etc. I could go on all day. I literally have no idea how he has made it to the top.

30 Jul 2016 13:16:06
As usual when people here hate one of our players he is the worst who ever wore a football shirt (while if they like someone, e. g. Lucas - he is a world class) and he becomes our main problem and the source of all our problems. Mings is not a top keeper but he is not the worst either and far from being our main problem. Our two main problems in recent years was inability to score, especially against oppositions who close the game, and how easily teams went through our midfield and into the box. let's sort these problems first.

Don't get me wrong I'd be very happy if we could bring world class GK and think it is a shame we didn't but I already feel that now when Skertl left people here found the new person to blame for all our troubles. Get off his back.

30 Jul 2016 13:43:49
He's a good enough keeper.

Not perfect, but decent.

End of.

30 Jul 2016 14:08:10
I've had a pop at Migs as a bit of a reaction to our bad luck with Karius, but as a backup keeper he's a decent option.
Hopefully the team will have a collective responsibility, pull together and prevent teams putting him under pressure.

30 Jul 2016 14:55:46
For the first time here he has real competition, if he doesn't make a mistake in the first 5-10 games, Klopp can't drop him.

30 Jul 2016 15:34:18
Fancy, you are right. And if he makes no mistakes in those games, and continues NOT to make a mistake, there is definitely no harm in keeping him in. Afterall that's all the fans want, a keeper that doesn't make mistakes or creates problems that makes the defenders make mistakes. So if having Karius here makes that happens I got no problems with it.

30 Jul 2016 16:35:01
Ha, very optimistic, its been mentioned before about most goals conceded, two players involved, migs and moreno, m&m, think our two cup finals . we have to give migs our support, but don't think we will be winning too many early games .

30 Jul 2016 20:23:31
Hear ya MK. In essence this is the sitaution that suits Migs and as I said before, he doesn't have the luxury or freedom to play without conpetition. That will make sone difference.

31 Jul 2016 01:18:50
MK is right. Mingo has shown us nothing to suggest that he deserves being our no one GK over the time he's been here so to those saying the contrary, must have been asleep and not noticed all his errors over that span. Of course we must support him now as Karius is injured. What other choice do we have? But to make it sound like he's suddenly now better than Karius, is ridiculous. He's a woeful keeper and there are facts and games you can watch to back that up. Karius was signed to take his job but if Mingo steps up to the challenge then, God bless him. Will this happen? We shall see.

30 Jul 2016 05:52:28
Morning Eds
Karius out for between 8 to 10 weeks broken hand won't be punching Lovern in the head again pity looked an improvement on Mings wish him a speedy recovery, great start to the season not! Hopefully we will get a LB in to replace/ compete with Moreno in the coming weeks not impressed with the idea of Milner as a potential back up for this position .
Cheers keep up the outstanding work.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2016 09:09:02
Hopefully Mings will punch Moreno in the head soon although that would rely on Moreno being back in our penalty area.
Was just thinking 2 birds, one stone etc.

30 Jul 2016 09:26:28
Let's try and look at mignolet starting the season in goal from a positive perspective. He probably didn't expect to be first choice, now he has the opportunity to step up and make it his spot. Karius will be back and mignolet will know that any mistakes will be blown up and he will lose his position in the team. Possibly the best way for him to be getting his chance, I personally prefer this rather than Karius having a stinker and mignolet having to come in, that way he hasn't had to fight for it. Could be the making of him.

30 Jul 2016 10:52:35
Made me laugh Ron! If only we could get that lucky!

30 Jul 2016 01:48:09
To ed 1. How do you view are summer business so far.
Without klopp previous record I would be very very nervous about new season. I see other club considerably improving their squads and us signing mane and wil what his name for 57 million. Considering what we already had I'd prefer to have seen that 57 spent on that type of player that's a game changer.
I'm a eternal pessimist but I just don't see them as 57 million better than what we already had.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - so far I am pleased, but worried that we still haven't fixed the left back problem. Especially as it was well within our power to do so. I believe we will really regret missing out on Chilwell over the next few years.}

30 Jul 2016 10:05:44
Belief based on your own or others views of Chilwell?

{Ed001's Note - does it matter? Those others have spotted some top talents. Also Klopp was keen enough on him to make him the first choice signing for left back for us. I fail to see why you are obsessed with doing the lad down.}

30 Jul 2016 10:36:32
Mane that game changer his pace will make us way better than this season . Matip could be the best signing we made in on a long time hopefully he can help us defend cornors better . But ya the lb postion worry me a lot.

30 Jul 2016 11:40:50
shame as think flannagan would have been fine playing left back. think that was a mistake personally.

30 Jul 2016 16:39:24
Same old, we badly need a left back, so we buy in 7/ 8 players, but, you guessed right, no left back . just hope that we buy one soon . I think we will .

29 Jul 2016 22:56:11
Hi eds,

Is there been much hype around Ejaria in the Academy and within the club? I don't get to watch the academy games unfortunately so I hadn't even heard of the lad before preseason.

Just wondering if its preseason fever or if he's highly thought of? Looks a great talent.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no hype but he is well liked, hence why he is getting the chance. The club have been avoiding hyping him up.}

30 Jul 2016 11:20:16
ed, I know you've made comment in the past about giving youth a chance in 1st team to develop etc. Pogba was 19 when he went to Juve and immediately was playing 30+ first team games a season (80% of which he started) . For me, not every young player will respond to that level of exposure and establish their games like Pogba did. but i wonder whether you have had any insight or opinion on Ejaria and how his career would develop given that same level of game time at first team level?

{Ed001's Note - actually most players tend to respond best when given the chance to play. They do not reach their potential while warming a bench, even if they do not always manage to perform to their best when given a chance. I think Ejaria needs a run of games, even if he struggles, he needs to be shown faith in. You only find out if they really have what it takes by throwing them in at the deep end.}

31 Jul 2016 01:23:00
Looks like Ejaria is good enough to be invited to the Nigeria national team this week. Ed is right. Players need games because that is the only way they will either make it or not. You don't get better by not playing or being sent out on dead end loan spells that amount to nothing is not the answer either.

29 Jul 2016 22:53:55
Two questions. A broken hand for a GK, how many previous casualties have fully recovered? Is this like an outfield player breaking a leg, in the way it's just never quite the same and likely to happen again?

Also, 001 I hope you enjoyed your day and thanks for all your efforts.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - it happens a lot mate. Sometimes they are able to strap it up and continue to play. It is not a career damaging injury in any way, usually. Breaking a leg usually makes it stronger when it heals mate, it is only if it is badly set that there are problems. That is why you very rarely hear of it being an issue any more. It is more the damage done to soft tissues, muscles and ligaments etc that are the real problem with a break.

Cheers Max, it was a good day until the news of Karius's injury came out.}

30 Jul 2016 09:11:29
I seem to remember Mike Hooper or maybe Bob Bolder breaking their hand.

30 Jul 2016 09:30:02
Mike Hooper Ron.

29 Jul 2016 22:32:05
Just wondered what ed's opinion on Suso was, bit of blast from past but do you think he could have made it at Liverpool given time. I really rated him at the time, mind you I also thought Pacheco looked sure thing too.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I loved Suso, he loved to get stuck in and worked hard on the pitch for the team, had a lovely touch on the ball and showed some real quality. Unfortunately he was stifled in his development by the club and it almost totally destroyed his chances of making anything like his potential happen. He lost his way sadly.}

30 Jul 2016 10:00:39
Watched a bit of him the other night for Milan. He still looked the same. always wanting the ball, nice touches. Decent balls into the box. Can't remember who were the commentators but they said they liked the look of a few of the Milan players mainly Suso. Don't think they knew he had been with us.

31 Jul 2016 01:24:35
You can thank the imperial BR for that good piece of screw up.

29 Jul 2016 21:34:40
Happy birthday ed001.
If I could afford the babel-copter to pick up Medel and drop him off in your back garden to sign a contract for Liverpool I would. Lol.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - you would have to get me a garden of some kind first! Cheers mikey, it is a nice thought though.}

29 Jul 2016 20:55:01
21 again Ed001, Happy Birthday!

Quick question. Are you happy with our new signings this season and do you think we will be more competitive in the league this season ? As you've seen from my previous posts, I'm a long standing LFC fan ( a 44 year old Kop season ticket holder git ) for many years.

What do you make of our rivals recruitment's so far? City look strong and Mkhitaryan signing for those lot across the M62 worries me slightly.

Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I would be very happy if we just added a left back! We needed three things as a priority, two of those three we have got, but that still leaves left back, which is desperate now. We will be better though, the team will be better prepared as well.

Everyone else is in a similar boat, their recruitment is mixed. They all have glaring holes in their teams that they have failed to fix.

City have no cover for Aguero, they are trying to add a rubbish defender, but they will have the boost of the early Pep effect to see them through. Though that will wear off after this next season. You can see how the teams he coached have always looked at their best in his first season, then faded.

United have Jose and Micky Tire-Iron, but they still have Smalling, Blind and Fellaini.

Arsenal still do not have a striker. They have a hold up man, but no one clinical to put the billion Ozil-created chances away.

Leicester have lost Kante, so they will be a man down next season, as he was like having two men in midfield, on his own.

Chelsea have chosen badly for their manager, he is tactically limited and no more than a ship steadier. They have bought well in Kante, but he is only going to make up for them being a man down with Fabregas in the team.

Spurs are still Spurs and still liable to fold when pressure hits.}

30 Jul 2016 10:11:11
Chelsea for me are the team to most worry about. They will bore the pants off us but have the best squad for me, many players that can't underperform as much as they did last year. I expect, and hope, that with all the ego's now present at Man United that there is going to be a significant implosion! If not we still have their significantly dodgy defence to keep us smiling!

30 Jul 2016 12:02:36
Ed
Could Nolito stand in for Aguero?
Think city could do well with the addition of Gundogam, but they still for me have issues at the back and obviously GK

Chelsea may well play defensively but Conte will have them super organised.

Utd will come good with the addition of Mickeytarian and Zlatan and especially if their pursuit of Pogba is successful.

I think for us we battle for fourth with arsenal and spurs. Arsenal so far have done their usual and not strengthened at the back (but IMO Xhaka is a great acquisition) and Spurs have added and additional attacking player.

The major advantage we have over arsenal and spurs is no European distraction but by that score it's the same with Chelsea

Utd could suffer from Thursday night football

So, out of city, Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and LFC 2 teams would not have CL football in season 2017/ 18.

It's why a European super league is coming.

{Ed001's Note - Nolito is not really an out and out striker like Aguero. Gundogan has injury issues, like Kompany, Aguero and Silva, which would worry me.}

30 Jul 2016 01:33:17
I have faith that Mingolet will do well while our no.2 keeper is recovering. Not sure why Karius is such a golden boy after a mediocre few games pre-season and not sure why Migs gets so much abuse on here. In my opinion he's a good keeper who just needs to up his game and increase his concentration and, until Karius or Manninger prove otherwise, Migs is currently the best we have.

Exactly, he needs to up his game. You answered your own question. Good GK don't make that many in a season, every season. Good GK's don't have that many faults. Good GK's can command their box, show confidence on crosses, can catch without flapping, can distribute a ball past the length of their own leg.

Mings is not as bad as the abuse he gets suggest. He had some very good games last season, few when he deserved MOTM, and he also suffer from the poor defense we have and how penetrable our midfield is. Teams gets near our box a lot and have a lot of shots against us. I am not sure Karius is a significant improvement on him and I think he was brought as number 2.

Saying all this, Mings is not a top keeper. He is not De Gea or Lorris or Chech at his best. These players save there teams 10 or more points a season by making fantastic saves. He also has the occasional mistake that can cost a goal. In free kicks for example he is quite slow to make the jump towards the ball. For me he is something like Scezny. Decent but not enough for top 4. This is why Arsenal brought Chech and we should have brought someone better, especially as I don't see us become a Chelsea defensive wise very soon. .

{Ed001's Note - you are dreaming if you think there was a single game in his entire Liverpool career that he has deserved MOTM! He had a couple of games when he wasn't terrible, but that only made it look like a good game in comparison to his usual performance, rather than it being good.}

This post has to be a wind up, if it's not then you haven't got the first clue about football.

Mingolet is an awful keeper, his kicking is awful so is his distribution his positioning awful handling awful organisation of the defence in front of him awful and the one thing he seemed OK at shotstopping (which is a pre requisite for any keeper) he's now doing an impression of casper the friendly ghost👻 (everything goes straight through him. )

Then you have a pop at karius who's played 4 games and conceded one goal where he was left exposed from a corner. This has to be up there with the most clueless empty headed post of the year.

On a totally different subject, ed001 what did you think of BOURNE?

{Ed001's Note - Bourne was good I thought. I really enjoyed it. All action, which is my kind of thing.}

Ed you're a tad harsh on Migs I feel. He is more than capable of being our keeper. And I'm not on bit worried about him being first choice. I'm not all that sure Karius would have been no 1 for sure anyway. He hasn't even been tested and has shown he can make mistakes.

{Ed001's Note - if you are not worried by Migs being in goal, then you need help. He is the worst keeper in the Prem, the worst we have had in my lifetime. Truly woeful.}

I've said it before and was hoping to be wrong in Basel but we won't win anything with Mignolet in goal.
His kicking puts us under pressure, his lack of confidence spreads through the defence like a virus and his ariel flapping makes us look vulnerable against any cross which is vaguely near the penalty area.

30 Jul 2016 10:27:43
I also don't believe Karius is our number 2 keeper.

Mignolet is a number 2 in more ways than one.

{Ed001's Note - Karius was not brought in to be back up.}

Stick Alex Manninger in nets 👍 problem atleast half solved.

30 Jul 2016 10:33:39
It could be worse we could have Romero as second choice lol bet Utd hope dea stays fit.

30 Jul 2016 11:28:33
Mings 2nd choice? Heaven forbid! So much is said about the versatility of Milner - I'd trust him more as second choice! 😉.

Waro sorry, i empty headed-ly pressed disagree, but i totally agree with what you said. Its the worst case scenario for karius to get injured.

We have to hope matip, ragnar and co can forge an understanding to make his presence as marginal as possible.

No probably barnezy, I agree and I hope your right mate.

Poolie, Let me know exactly when Mingo ups his game because there has been no signs of this happening over the three years he's been here. I won't be holding my breath and I propose you don't as well.

I don't think migs natural GK ability I. e shot stopping was ever in question. Watch a highlight reel of saves he's made over the last 3-4 years and it's clear he has the reflexes and therefore potential of a world class keeper in my opinion. The problem is that his deficiencies (positioning, command of area, consistency) mean that he doesn't inspire he back line with confidence and many chances he saves come about through his own doing. I still think it's a shame, I always held out hope he would develop like de gea has at Utd as I saw similarities (great shot stoppers, poor in the air and command of area) in their early days in the PL, but sadly Migs has regressed in my opinion. I think he's a capable number 2 though, can't see him wanting to stay when Karius is back and he's on the bench though. I think Ward has likely been promised the number 2 spot to whoever wins the likely one sided battle between number 1 and 2.

Hi All

Just saying, looks like all ex-players are coming back to their clubs Pogba to Manchester Lukaku to Chelsea, may be its time Liverpool bring back Suarez and Torres.

Might scare the hell out of Chelsea and Mancs.

Be careful what you wish for.

Poulsen and Konchesky are both still playing.

And we know how much posters are craving a DM and a LB.

Just saying.
