What are the chances of Ruiz of Fulham? Been their stand out player this year and would add some well needed creativity. Unlikely I'm guessing but would be nice. {Ed002's Note - I think you answered it.}

We were linked at the time. They put up the cash, we didnt.

Hooray you see i told you, we win and then everyone shuts the hell up about poor brendan. Get well soon and have a happy new year! ChazNazz

Mate, nobody's anti-Brendon, we lack consistency and don't have a plan B and that will cost us DEAR!!

It's QPR, out of form, I'll take my hat off to Brendan once we go on a winning run, including ManU...Why not, it's my new year wish!!

Poor Brendan? In what way? Is he on the dole? Minimum wage? struggling to keep his head above water?

No.

He is extremely well compensated for the job he has. Next time you see a homeless person, I want you to remember this comment about poor Brendan.

Get some perspective.

No but the great Guru of football BR has a cold

That should be enough to warrant poor Brendan, shouldin it?

I was more thinking poor brendan not because of the illness, but because i actually have enough empathy to imagine what he would feel like if he heard some of the s**t some of you give him

Im not saying its true but i have seen that we will offer 9 to 10 million to Inter for sneijder and he himself will receive around 6 million in bonus. I don't believe we are after him but that's what i have seen and would like to share it.

Mike B

Wesley snijder wears number 10 , cole is going to qpr(ssn) so the number 10 will be avalible in january.
wishful thinking

30 Dec 2012 23:43:33
demba, proven at goals, 7 mil, and no movement from us,

debuchy, 27 international, only 5 mil, no movement from us, , , ,

sturridge, greedy as hell,

ince should never have left,

sneijder rumour now,

we cant attract the sneijder's, we need to focus on getting Champs league, or we can say goodbye to suarez aswell.

Demba ba to chelsea....
a central striker to cover torres..at 7 mil...all parties are happy..
players dont wanna join us..coz we ae sitting in 10th plcae..and consistently from 3 years...

"proven at goals"

I got a good 5 minute LOL out of that.

30 Dec 2012 23:38:45
Joe Allen and Suarez was class, this team played like this against united and man city this season as well dnt forget

All they need as BR said is consistency

And more attackers of course

A couple transfer windows and we will be up there

In Brendan Rodgers anc Colin Pascoe i trust :D

YNWA

QPR are way off the premier league teams quality wise. Man United City etc will never allow you the fredom on the ball and time to take four or five touches before you pass the ball around.

Well u never watched liverpool man handle city and utd earlier on this season

Yaya said it was the hardest match hes ever played

30 Dec 2012 22:59:50
To everyone complaining about a 3-0 win as it was QPR. You can only win what's in front of you. HullRED

Did we win them?

Sort of. We lost all hunger after 28 minutes. Pretty weird really.

Well I think they just slowed down the tempo cuz theres a game on wednesday ..no need to run your socks off when already 3-0 up..especially with the depth in the team

30 Dec 2012 22:59:24
There is some truth in the sneijder talk fellow reds, if cole goes (according to a website he is- to qpr) amd downing or reina( or any other players really, ) we cam afford his wage.
He is 28 and at his prime, suarez needs a playmalker such as him, i.e stevie g isnt gd enough.
Ali g

Gerrard has scored 3 goals in 4 games and made 3 assists, that's great form and end product for a 32 year old midfielder.

People with tunnel vision do not see the midfield for what it is, a fluster cluck which isn't running properly. Gerrard is adapting as are the other players, he's not under performing as you would have people think. Just look at his recent form.

Rodgers isn't interested in managing Gerrard F.C as other managers have, he wants to ease the pressure on Gerrard and find the right balance and has explained ''it's not going to be easy, it's going to take time.''

Under Rafa Gerrard played as an advanced midfielder in front of Mascherano and Xabi/Lucas and behind Torres. Gerrard was almost a second striker now Gerrard is a central midfielder. He has a much different role in the team nowadays than in the past. But, some blinkered fans don't understand or realise this.

Sneijder would not keep gerrard out of the team. I also don't see BR dropping Allen unfortunately. Lucas is to important to drop because he's our only good DM. But alas I don't think where even interested in sneijder.

OP ur a total numb head because even if schneider came in it would be to play alongside gerrard. sooner liverpool fans take off the tinted goggles with regards gerrards age the better. he is prob the second best player this season, so he goes from the best to second best and he is finished in ur accord get to grips man watch the GAMES and judge on play not age.

livlim

I think Glen Johnson might argue your point, livlim

cozinoz

So you're saying sneijder is better than gerrard? Shows how much you know. Even at 32 gerrard is better. FACT

Starting to see Gerrard putting his foot in again. I always felt we lost half of his game when he played in the advanced role. The boy can tackle.

It wont happen anyway but Gerrard and Wesley together would be lethal and part of the reason Gerrard isnt looking so great now is that he does not have a great midfielder to work beside him

Hope the snijder thing isn't true , a lot if money for an over rated , mardy and in his late 20's a lot of wages too would rather spend it on Adel taarbet from QPR young was excellent against us today what would he cost 8-10 million less wages better deal in my eyes :) happy new year everyone , thanx for a great year eds ....Tim the red

Sneijder is better but i did think about tarabt today, would be a good signing for number ten

Adel would not be good IMO at all. You can't compare him to wesley who while we wont get, cant afford and probably is got an ego bigger than a club can manage he is still world class

gareth

Adel..was quality...most important..can shoot from distance...and can beat players with pace...something..lucas, henderson, allen and shelvey cant....

I was with you right up until taraabt. He is not and will never be good enough. Even if he had a decent temperament (which he hasnt)

MOTD 2 is on the beeb in a short while, please watch the game again all you Joe Allen detractors.Don't just watch Suarez or Gerrard, watch the little guy in the middle, the no 24, the one doing all the closing down, the tackling, the running about, watch how he clatters men twice his size and stays on his feet, then come back on here afterwards and convince me that 'he's too lightweight' !! Beardsley's Boot's

30 Dec 2012 22:32:40
He didnt really need to do anything to be honest. They were shockingly bad. Allen did nothing wrong though.

Hounsred

And while ya at it watch out for who our threats were apart from Suarez.
Les

Joe allen seems to divide opinion at the moment but i'm with beardsley's boots think he is a gem of a player, ronnie whelan was not alway's appreciated & it took didi hamman a while to settle & subsequently became integral to our midfield, believe joe allen has great qualities that in time will become apparent...
Paisley's genius

Allen
3 unchallenged passes
1 tackle
1 mis-hit shot
1 clearance from his own box
0 saving tackles
0 assists
In the post match analysis he wasn't highlighted once for anything in fact the only time he was seen was when he was dumped on his arse by Mbia who spent most of his time falling over

Chris in Tamworth

Obviously my stats only refer to the highlights as seen on motd but then that is what the OP asked us to do

Chris in Tamworth

Watch the game chris he only made one tackle really? MOTD all over watch the games he is a genuine player.
livlim

You don't like him then Chris?
gareth

Some people only watch the player with the ball. Its crazy how many footy-heads cant even watch the games intelligently.

I do like Allen but so far what I've seen since he joined he has been very average. I've been waiting and looking forward to seeing him playing further up the pitch but he's looked even less impressive when he has.
My list of stats above were only what he did during the motd highlights (this is what the OP suggested we watch and comment on) so everyone who disagreed is incorrect because they were factual statistics not my opinion.

Chris in Tamworth

Joe can not shoot , head or keep up with a player who takes the ball off him is this what we need hope alonso looks at where he can fit in with us and takes the chance

I do not disagree with you chris but your one of the few people one here who talks sense so just wanted you honest opinion on him. I think he could become very good but sometimes a little negative and ineffective in an attacking sense

30 Dec 2012 22:02:47
SSN saying joe cole in talks with QPR

Good for all parties probably.

I hope they want downing too, i know harry is a fan.

Sturridge in, cole out. That's a start

They dont have the money. They need to cut the wage bill. Probably even more than we do.

30 Dec 2012 21:54:52
So, 3-0 win isn't good enough for some people. What do you want? We are In a re-building stage and every point counts. This " project" may take a couple of years but some fans want it now. Build it up then savour it. We will not buy the league, we cannot afford to, but we can build towards it. Support the lads come what may. As long as the liver bird is flying, we will fight and eventually we will succeed.
Robbie

Well said Robbie, could not agree more, some of the post on here by some of the "fans" are ridiculous.

These so called fans are killing the rep of our club. Trolls#

I would take 1-0 for every game as long as we get the 3 points. Our way of playing is going to take us far, but we do need a few more additions so that we can mix it up a bit if its not going our way. For example, we smashed Fulham with our passing play, but it didn't work against Stoke. King Kenny had the right idea buying Andy Carroll, because he is a different type of player to Suarez, however as we know Carroll could not deliver. but maybe with our new signings we can mix it up when we need to.

Red Lee

Please stop with the rebuilding nonsense already, sick to death of hearing it.

How is this 'rebuilding' nonesense? It is what is happening. You might as well get used to it, whether you are sick to death of it or not. I can only assume that you are an 'instant success' type and that the toys go flying if we dont win 5 nil every game. Or maybe you are the 'we have been rebuilding for 20 years" type. Either way, get used to hearing as the rebuild will take years my friend.

Andy K

H...
will you pay 15 mill for walcot, demba ba, mirallas, jevic, or 20 mill for downing and 35 mill caroll....?
andy caroll different type of player?
you must be joking..
apart from his head...which part of his body actually touches football??

Everybody is concerned with us signing strikers and midfield stars but having heard that Enrique has a torn hamstring has anybody any ideas on a much needed cover at left back.We cannot keep sticking Downing there for week after week.

The Plank

Robinson agger and probably our best left back Johnson can play there.

30 Dec 2012 23:01:47
I think Johnson will play there (prob Wisdom at Right back) - I think Johnson's had a great season so far whether it be at Right or left back.

Enrique will be missed he has been playing well recently and his pace gets him out of a lot of trouble (that he sometimes gets himself in).

Hoola

What about Kelly? He must be back soon.

FT

Didnt think Kelly would be back until around March time

Question to the eds where would u play Sturridge behind or beside Suarez?
How many players do you think will come in ?thanks

30 Dec 2012 21:46:38
sneijder rumours are utterly bonkers. u cannot be serious i will put my house my car and my money on sneijder will certainly not move to liverpool. he can go to many clubs who can offer him 150-200 grand per week are u seriously stupit?

yes its great to be in this bracket but until i see sneijder due at melwood for medical on a website il not be buying his shirt

Haha if some website claimed he was having a medical at melwood you would buy his shirt? You must have a fair few villa and Gaston ramirez jerseys huh?

You call ppl stupid and then actually spell stupid wrong.deadly

30 Dec 2012 21:42:30
Hi reds,
Enrique out for a while that's a big blow, let's hope they don't think downing is the answer he is playing ok but he ain't no left back. Wisdom on the right he did ok there and Johnson at left back for me.

hi eds good result today. please post id love to see your thoughts and others if possible. joe cole today was it me being blind or was he not on the team sheet today. obviously not in the starting 11 but in the squad. qpr likely destination with harry redknapp? also just had a look at the bookies transfer odds. juventus were strong strong favourates to land Fernando Llorente this morning. how come lfc are now joint favourates at 5/4 is there anything in this or is the bookies just trying to get folks to have a flutter. cheers eds going to be on this site 24/7 for the next 30 days ;) {Ed052's Note - Cole will go if a deal can be agreed. Llorente wont sign}

30 Dec 2012 21:34:37
hi eds just wondering why the owners dont just get rid of rogers and bring in some our so called supporters on here, by the end of next season well be champions, lets face it they will attract messi, ronaldo and whoever else they want, or they could wake up and realise that we cant attract world class players at the moment with no cl or breaking the bank, i believe we will get there but it will take time, some are having a go at the owners for not spending well they have and will contiune to do so just not 25-30 mill for one player well not yet

rob

30 Dec 2012 21:34:36
Ok this Sneijder rumour doesn't look so stretched. I remember Werner said about a name that will surprise Liverpool fans this January and I don't think he was talking about Sturridge. If get rid of Cole then we can add some part of his wages on Sneijder.
There are three problems in this: United sabotaging the move, he isn't exactly young(but I think FSG will make an exception here) and if he is willing to lower his wage demands(don't see why he will do that).
But all in all if we are serious about it, I think we can do the deal with him.

Too many ifs

If anything I think we just want him on loan.

Come on guys...we do this every year to ourselves...are we getting this world beater or messi, calvani, hulk etc etc...it is just so unlikely

As a talented player i would love him but he isnt going to lower his wage so dramaitically that we only have to pay £100 000 a week is he? A loan may be more likely but considering his age and the face he is still not going to lower his wage drastically...its just never going to happen

in saying that should i be wrong...you will see me run naked across the pitch during his first game!

Lets hope he doesn't arrive
gareth

Cheers Gareddio.

Signing this player will undo all of the ugly but necessary stuff that has been done to sort out club finances.

It's madness!

If it happens, Rafa will be back within the week....actually maybe not now I think of it.

30 Dec 2012 21:20:19
I agree with 'Chris in Tamworth' that Sahin is a class act and should be played whenever he's available, we've had only a glimpse of him so far but it was enough to convince me that he's a player of the very highest order and i can only hope we sign him on a permanent contract. However i would not play him at the expense Of Joe Allen as i believe he also has greatness within him.I believe that Sahin, Allen, Gerrard, Enrique and Suarez as a core are well capable of playing some scintillating football never mind Suso Sterling and possible new additions !! Beardsley's Boot's

Sahin is class, but I think not good for PL.

The problem is though our team has the 'potential' to be a very very good, potential is not always realised and people are also not willing to wait for it to be realised. i firmly believe if we keep players like hendo, sahin, suso, sterling for another season or two then Brendan Rogers will turn us into a very competitive team.
huddz red

We can all be class in the german league mate, its so slooooooooow

30 Dec 2012 21:16:05
Very professional performance today. Went there for 3 points and got the job done.

In seasons gone by we've always come unstuck against teams in the lower half of the table. I know this season we haven't beaten any teams in the top half, but we played most of them fairly early on in the season.
We've had a really tough start to the campaign but there seems to be some steady progress

First 14 games - 3 wins
Last 6 games - 4 wins

Won't get too carried away tho as there's still lots of work to be done... but i think we'll be alot more competitive in the 2nd half of the season.

Lets get behind Liverpool Football Club and hope for a great 2013!

GHF

First 6 games - 1 win
Next 6 games - 2 wins
Next 6 games - 3 wins
Next 6 games - 1 win from 2 games (4 games to go)

Fingers crossed that we keep increasing the wins per 6 games.

Andy K

30 Dec 2012 21:02:57
eds? if QPR go down and if reina decides to depart for pastures new at the emirates, do you think we would go in for julio cesar? seems to still be a decent keeper to me.
huddz red {Ed052's Note - he's absolutely awful}

Ok, i'll trust your judgement ed. just out of interest who would you go for ed052?
huddz red {Ed052's Note - I would either play Jones or Ward. For the future there are a number of great young German players}

Would you buy a LB now Ed052 ?
Gutted about Enrique. We need the full backs bombing forward, and I don't see any of our stand-ins offering that same width and dimension to the side.
The Juicer {Ed052's Note - I would yes. An experienced one.}

I wouldn't we have robinson or put johnson in there an wisdom on right like before. Problem solved and no need to spend more money. if really pushed put agger there and coates in middle with skrtyl.
huddz red

I'd buy a LB, huddz red.
And one with pace and athleticism as must-haves.
I like Wisdom, and he'll make a top drawer central defender in the near future. But he doesn't give us that out ball going forward, and Kelly doesn't really either. They're both probably Liverpool's future at centre halves.
It'd be deeply ironic if say Downing was sold to fund a new LB !
Lol. Might happen too.
The Juicer

So who would you get then juicer?
huddz red.

Dunno tbh. Pity Baines is a blue **ite.
The Anzi LB wasn't bad.

sorry eds and fellow reds i just do not understand some of our fans we won today but reading the posts it would seem that some fans would not credit the team and the manager, yes we made QPR look poor but that is far better than them making us look poor. this season has seen us getting better we are not there yet but we are improving. we also had setbacks when we were the kings of europe but the first response was not sack the manager, i for one want to give the manager the benifit of the doubt, if in a couple of seasons we are not progressing then look at his position not half way through his first season. good luck to all the Eds and fellow reds for 2103. ray.3037

That's a helluvah long time off mate. Or perhaps you mean 3 minutes past nine?

30 Dec 2012 20:41:53
It looks like Jose Enrique is out for 6 weeks. Lets hope not because he has been quality as of late. YNWA LeeWils

And how did he do it?

Battling down the line when there was nothing to gain. he had 2 options of a simple ball but he just wont use them.

At least he'll stop playing others into trouble for 6 weeks.

30 Dec 2012 20:39:49
Unsure whether to believe this Sneijder story at present.

I do think the owners would be willing to make an offer (whether that is lower than his demands we don't know for sure). If true I would expect it to be in region of 125-150k a week with bonuses to make up difference. Goals scored, reaching certain stages of competitions and league position etc. that is if any deal has been offered.

We all know Sneijder will have offers from many clubs in January and could probably only discount some of them. Bayern, Schalke, United (if still interested, or can afford it) and Arsenal can offer him CL football this season and beyond.

Chelsea's and City if interested can offer CL next term and money to match his demands.
So for the club to land Sneijder we would really need to sell the club to him, and also convince him that we could qualify for CL next term with the right additions in this window.

A plus could be that Sneijder would be the main man so to speak in the middle of the park. Gerrard for all his brilliance is getting older, but may not be able to play a full season next season and could do with the help. The lure of partnering Gerrard in the centre could also be a bonus for us. The likes of playing alongside Suarez, Gerrard etc could be something that would interest him.
The style of play may also be a factor in his decision.

We also have some solid foundations now set in place with our academy. The quality of our youngsters would impress most players surely. He is a product of the Ajax system which has developed loads of top players.

So even though I'm still not entirely convinced we will sign Sneijder I do think in football there is always an outside chance.

Jonesred

I do like your optimism, but agree that stranger things have happened in football. He could be tempted by Liverpool knowing he would get a lot of game time as opposed to City or Chelsea where he would be part of the rotation, a decision which would clearly show him as a footballer or just attracted to the money. The only concern would be a bid from United who are evidently missing a quality midfielder and would also be his preferred destination. All will be revealed in Jan.

Well done on the win today, hopefully keep the run going.

IMH

A lot of people are saying United are in need of a creative midfielder but everyone is forgetting Kangawa. I know he is injured but I can't see Fergie paying loads for Sneijder if he's already got a highly paid, fantastic player in his position. Therefore, if there is any interest/financial possibility in a deal (A very big if), I think we have more of a chance than we all think.

JR

If we are going to try and buy sneijder why not get a better long term option in Isco or eriksen. They would be seriously reduced wage demands too.

Sorry to say this eds, think your job must be very hard as it is, but is there any way the persons who go on none stop about how poor players are even when we win can be banned?
Sterling 18 years old apparently was awful, in the game I watched he was being marshalled by TWO players at all times yet still gave 100% that's taking two players off any one else so created space.
Allen in the game I watched seemed very settled, kept the game going simple passes again getting involved.
Henderson never stopped running chasing getting involved.
Gerrard breaking forward excellent passing, causing defence all kinds of problems.
Then there people complaining about the 2nd half, if memory serves me correctly didn't we lead 2-0 last season them lose 2-3? They changed their system in the second half, didn't cause us any serious issues we adapted slowed the pase and controlled the game to ensure the win and 3 points.
How many times has any one seen managers bring on a defensive player in the closing minutes to waste time and shaw things up, yet some persons waste their time slating us for bring carra on. Y? Can he not defend? Read the game? Bring in experience?
Some of these so called fans should be banned or have to leave their name to be held accountable for their personic remarks, we beat a team to gain 3 points, does it matter who they are or where they are? No we played well scored 3 goals and a clean sheet, all round excellent result.
Well done lads

Lifelongred

Least some people on here know football.
Les

Actually the only good player for qpr was the lad at right back, sterling didnt play badly it was just purely good defending on his part

Except the commentators on Sky failed to notice that they went to 3 centre backs for the 2nd half so he was being referred to as a right back when he was actually on the right of a back 3. Onuoha.

30 Dec 2012 20:34:17
Yeah am sorry if am not getting carried away about beating qpr!!wow they have won once in twenty games..are u f****ing kidding me??why all the unnecessary praise..it was a good result that's all.

Well no body should be carried away with the victory however its the whingers on this site who actually make it necessary to pour praise on the squad when they win. I mean when we lose to one of the top teams our squad gets slated, so why not praise them for beating the bottom teams.

Just seen on the wall outside Melwood - RODGERS- STAY IN BED !

30 Dec 2012 20:13:20
few things ed, is sahin injured? he hasent been included in the the team for a while, i was also thinking about what rogers said about a top four finish.. with this team, i dnt see it happening but with the RIGHT players brought in in jan/summer i dnt see why we cant finish high this season, if 7, 6, 5 place is what u call high. we have a good enough team that obviously needs another striker are so but at most we only need to add 4 or 5 quality players. which brings me to the point of strurridge and ba, over the years you could pick out who would be a good signing and who would not, im not a manager but i sure as hell know that the likes of mata who i think we were linked with once apoun a time is better than dowing anyday, i know this and so does everyone else.. i never understood how we were alowed to pay 20mil for him, thats a crime? now wee seem to buying the worst of 2 strikers (struidgge) instead of ba, and wouldnt you know struidge would have to cost more...the transfers are becoming ridiculous.. i could go into one of those directors jobs with full confidence that i could do better than some of these clowns are atm.. am not trying to be smart. all im saying is our policy has changed dramatically, we are no longer looking at world class players from spain etc.. but players who cant make the grade at chelsea, or players who stand out for the likes of sunderland or aston villa.. we seem to be deluded and narrow minded when it comes to buying players, this is what anoyed me about daglish, wanting english players and paying over the odds for them, yet not one of his english signings are worth the price he paid {Ed052's Note - Sahin has a broken nose. Ba would cost a lot lot more than DS}

I couldn't agree more with this post.

Poor signings are the biggest single factor in Liverpool's demise.

We used to replace players, even world class ones like Keegan, Rush and Souness. We used to replace top Managers like Shankly, Paisley and Fagan. BUT WE HAVE NEVER REPLACED GEOFF TWENTYMAN.

This poster is exactly right. Supporters actually know players who would be better for the team than some of the professionals who have responsibility for transfers. I know some players are out of reach, for various reasons, but there are plenty of others who could have been signed who would have been better than the ones we ended up with.

Unfortunately, the clubs misguided transfer policy seems destined to continue for at least one more transfer window.

redmersey

Well there are lots of factors that you must take into account. For example there isn't a baldies of mata coming to liverpool over chelsea who could offer him champions league football, a title challenge every season and double the wages we can offer him.

Well....tevez, toure, agurero, dezeko, etc etc all went to city before they won the league... now i know there financial power is greater but dont tell me we cant afford there wages when we plashed out over 120, 000, 000 for 3 english players who contribute nothing.. i dont buy into this thing were we cant 'Compete' i think its Bull... look at the wages we are paying for joe cole.. a man who literally doesnt or hasent played for use this last 3 years, bar a few camio aperances.. why not give that to the likes of mata? even double it?? I think some credit needs to go to downing today. it wasn't a glamorous performance, but he worked his socks off while the likes of sure were superb and devastating in the 1st half

Yep kudos to downing

Downing has been under rated and somewhat miss used since he came through the door.

He was the man of the match against Cardiff at Wembley, you know when it counted.

We judge too quickly and don't take the situation of players and styles into context. He's not ''rubbish'' as many sadly think but he has struggled to make an impact and for consistency until recently and now looks like a much more productive player who has found a decent role in the team.

hi eds and fans, well done that is more like it very enjoyable to watch, stevie was really good and suarez of course as were the others, hope BR gets better and as Ian rush said today hope for 3 strikers to come into lpool.
Hope enriques injury is not too bad.
question to the eds the commentator on ssn said why we were wearing black instead or red could you explain that again please cause i did not exactly understand him.
hibsylfc

I think the commentator said we chose to wear the black kit
Jamesy

At the risk of sounding cynical, we chose to wear it, probably because we were on tv, so it would show off our away kit, which maybe doesn't get seen as much as commercial people would like!

BR wants experience in the team therefore our January ins will look like this.

ST - Daniel Sturridge £12m
ST - Fabio Quagliarella loan
AM - Wesley Sneijder £9.5m
CB - Modibo Diakite £1.8m

£24.5m

just a few players out to clear some wages for those coming in

Pacheco loan (Real Valladolid)
Joe Cole free (QPR)

With Enrique possibly out for an extended period of time, what Left Backs/Left Wing Backs have LFC shown interest in before or would be interested in now?

So whenever we have someone injured we will start looking for a replacement?
We have other options already in the team.

Here's a thought: could Henderson be the hard man in our midfield to provide that steel?

Singred

I've always said Henderson would be good if given time on the pitch.. Heard he was sick with whatever infected BR today and was still out there closing down and working his ass off... Huge potential in my opinion.

phillyred

Yeh pascoe said that he was up vomiting with a bug. I say well done to him. He also played well.
derryred

I'm impressed with henderson (of late); lets also remember he was played out of position last season a lot of the time with a big price tag around his neck.

I don't think he's the player we thought we was buying however I hope we keep him; his workrate was great today and i was thinking why is he so out of breathe - bug makes sense now (and the substitution).

Hoola

When we scouted him at Dunderland, he was the main man in their midfield with a lot more responsibility than he has at Liverpool. This is why he doesn't look the same plyer.

30 Dec 2012 19:38:02
Think most of us would have taken 3 nil before the game, could argue qpr are poor but that is their problem not ours & it is a cliche but you can only play the team in front of you, saurez was his usual magical self gerrard & agger were both commanding, thought allen & henderson had good games both still young as is sterling, few more ups & downs along the way (always seems to be the way) think we are heading in the right direction....scouse solidarnosc! I'm interested to hear what people would want from sterling to class his performances as good? Apart from Suarez and Johnson who got to the byline and caused more problems to QPR's defence? Yes he's prob mentally drained but he was a threat. Think people need to watch the game again.
Les

How was he a threat? Every single time he faced his opponent he lost the ball, was constantly bullied, can't pass for toffee and has no trickery whatsoever. The only thing he has in his locker is pace and even saying that he's actually not that fast if you compare him to the likes of Walcott. Although he looked great when he first came into the team he really hasn't progressed at all, in fact I'd say he's gone backwards.

So getting a cross in or winning a corner is losing the ball?
Les

What? The guy above is absolutely nuts. Sterling is by far the best 18-20 year old currently playing in PL.

Look, I like Sterling a lot and think he'll be a quality forward/winger for us in the years to come, but simply put I don't think he's quite good enough (yet) to play consistently in a team that wants to challenge for a top 4 spot. He's played so often more because we lack depth than because he is exceptional (again, just my opinion).

He's very one footed, so when played on the left offers little going forward as all he can do is cut in or hold up the ball (meaning he can't cross) and when played on the right his crossing is much better but he can't cut in for a goal. His pace is excellent as is his first touch, but his vision and range of passing are not great. These are all things that can be worked on over time, but in general 1400+ minutes played and only one goal to show for it is pretty poor return for one of a front three.

He is also not 'by far the best 18-20 year old' in the PL. Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lukaku, Nastasic from City, Josh McEachran, and even Kerim Frei (who I personally like a lot) are all arguably just as good if not better than Sterling.

RDL

I think your being harsh; look at the way he takes the ball, his control and awareness. Also he finds players most of the time with his passing.

There was a lot of stray passes today (especially in 1st half from a lot of players).

Also consider this - how do you pass to Suarez? He moves all the time so you can't just run to the byline and cross it; I personally think Sturridge will play from the right or left and move to the centre as Suarez drops deep - see how he plays then.

However (Sterling) has played nearly 30 games this season for us; I think your see much more from him (hopefully this season) but definately next - big step up to play 90 mins week in week out against seasoned pros.

Hoola

Hi Eds, with Chelsea looking for a striker what do you think on us keeping Suarez beyond January? Do you reckon FSG would cash in again at the first opportunity? He seems to good a player and if we wanted Torres to partner him a couple of years ago it would make sense they would look at him. {Ed052's Note - Suarez will stay}

30 Dec 2012 19:16:01
ello fellow reds

I think the signing of sturridge would be good business, he can score goals and hes young and has potential in my opinion, he was top scorer in the prem for chelsea befoe di matteo dropped him... him suarez and sterling at the top 3 would be decent in my opinion...

Sturridge has had his development completely hindered at Chelsea, he is not the finished article.

I'm not against his signing at all, but i'm not thinking for one moment that Sturridge is the answer to Liverpool football club's problems.

Aldo on a website dropped the truth when he said ''We need someone of the same ability (as Suarez) to play next to him to take us (Liverpool) to the next level.''

Aldo sitting next to Ian Rush who agreed when he said we should go out and get Walcott and Ba and we could probably get them for less than £20 million right now.

It's on SSN website and only short but i love Aldo because he is passionate for the club, he's played the game and he played for us. Okay sometime he's a bit wide of the mark but at least he's saying to a degree that ''We need better players than Sturridge, although Sturridge is a good move as well because he's versatile in the forward line.''

Eds and everyone.

I found this on night before and think its the translation of the Gazettos article this morning. Apologies for copy and paste in advance, but thought It was worth a read.

Seems to show details of length of contract etc.

SNEIJDER SEES RED

Liverpool want Wes who said: "It's better that I leave."
Contact between the Reds and the players a few days ago: salary is a problem.

The Americans want Wesley Sneijder. They want him at Anfield, in Liverpool. Among many rumors coming from England here is one that has some concreteness as the offer has been made to the player's representatives and all of this happened a few days ago. The Reds have made an inquriry regarding Sneijder and we will only know more about this after the new year, or the start of the January transfer market.

After much interest coming from Paris Saint Germain (which Inter wanted Pastore and then Verratti, the reponse was no), ideas from Anzhi, Schalke 04, rumors of Tottenham (for now everything has been denied), and of course Manchester United (the team that has player's preference), here is a new team for Wesley Sneijder in a league that Wes could be ideal in. It is not known if Yolanthe described the city of the Beatles as "perfect place to raise a family, " but the fact remains contact between Liverpool and the player has been made.

Benefited thanks to the entrance of the Americans (the owner is John Henry also the owner of the Boston Red Sox) in 2010, Liverpool have decided to return to the great of Europe after dark years. At this time, the Reds are not in the Champions League area and will face Zenit in the Europa League knock out stage but the will to be back to the winning way is there, starting with Wesley Sneijder.

But the question is: how much would he be willing to lower his current salary at Inter at 6 million net per season? Because at Liverpool, the roof is not unlimited provided that they want to make other purchases not just Wesley Sneijder. Then: would it be better to stay and make 6 million until June and then readjust the current salary until 2016 (then an option in 2017) or just leave right away? These are the questions that Wes will have to think about for the entire month of January.

Meanwhile, Wesley Sneijder did an interview with De Telegraaf, before Christmas in which he revealed the following: "It is clear that it would be good for all parties that I move on in January. Otherwise, I will stay. I have a contract until June of 2015 with Inter." We repeat: this interview occurred several days ago, if not weeks before the phone calls, thoughts and the words coming from Andrea Stramaccioni ("I would give him a spot in the starting line up, " as a midfield director that is). So the situation is still on stand-by in the sense that Inter are waiting to see if Wes is willing to accept or to see any proposals.

OK, but how much will the eventual sale of Wes be? Liverpool have offered a three-year contract to the player and would be willing to pay around 9 to 10 million euros. That would be much less than that Inter paid for to take him to Milan from Madrid (15 million in the summer of 2009) but it would offset the enormous savings regarding the player's salary. We are not even at the beginning of the transfer market window. So please, let's wait.

We are being used to start the bidding. He will go to UTD.

Inter are not having a great domestic year, the question that should be asked is why is he not playing? Why are the other top clubs not circling like vultures?
No thanks, far more of a gamble than somebody like Sturridge, IMO.

After deservedly lambasting them after Stoke, today a bit of praise. You saw the real Allen during that first half - keeping the ball moving, hunting down the opposition, putting the tackles in. Henderson also put a good shift in. We need to drop Sterling for a few matches - he has gone off the boil. Second half we sat back and let them back into the match. Lesson to be learned there - we don't yet have a good enough team to shut up shop and kill a game - so we shouldn't try to. A better team than QPR (most of the Prem) would have pulled that 3 goal lead back if we did the same against any of them. RED LENIN

God help us if that's the 'real Allen'. I thought he was quite average against a really poor team.

Allen was poor

30 Dec 2012 19:05:20
So a mixture of "oh weren't we great today" and "we got lucky against a poor side"
The truth is somewhere between I think.
I did think the team selection was wrong but difficult to argue with a 3-0 win
I thought Sterling and Allen were poor
I'm convinced Sahin would be one of our best 3 midfielders (I think he is fit)
if given a run, I hope we don't give up any chance of keeping him by persisting with the ordinary Allen
I think Assaidi should get more game time

Chris in Tamworth

All that after a win, eh?

What a load of shabite lad.

DaveyBootle

I actually agree with you chris, for it would be lucas next to hendo who can keep the ball and play simple passes and cxan also do lung busting runs into the box with sahin above in the 10 role maybe rotating with suso. i did think we were ok though, dominant in possession and looked threatening, it does seem we aren't as strong at the back as we were last year though. i mean same centre backs just dont look the same if you catch my drift.
huddz red

Daveybootle why the problem? I wasn't being overly critical. How good did you think we were today? Are you happy with how things are? Do you not have any thoughts or opinions?

Chris in Tamworth

Chris you have a perfectly valid opinion although i would neither be overjoyed with the result nor disheartened by the second half. We did the business in the first half and just seen through the second. Many of our players were suffering from a virus apparently hendo was up all night with one. In all honesty i don't see what sahin offers that allen doesn't. Sterling was alright. Not amazin but also not bad, we all knew that his performances would dip when he got found out a bit. In all honesty though he was good when onouha (spelling) didn't have him in a bear hug.
derryred

If the team is picked on merit, how can you suggest Sahin? He is class, no doubt, but has been consistently poor for us since September.

cozinoz

When people say sahin is "class", what they mean is he is expensive and foreign. Stupid brits, still worshipping the exotic I see.

5 wins and 2 losses from our last 7 games, thats not as bad as some might have you think.

IF we can keep up this form, i'm sure we would at least be in the mix for the champions league places, although we do have some catching up to do.

Keep the faith.
WelshBoyDave

Good God, when will people like you ever learn. Just enjoy the win. Ever heard of the saying take each game as it comes? Be positive that's great, just reign it in a bit.

Waro

He makes a valid point Waro, nothing to reign in at all. He just said '5 wins from the last 7'. It's a fact. If you listened to most on here you would think that we have been woefull, everyone wants to sack the manager. IF (and he also used capital letters) we continue to get 15 points from every 21 available, we will likely be in the mix for fourth.

He was just pointing out that it's not all doom and gloom, as some people seem to think.

Contrary to the sentiment held by a number of posters this evening, i thought Joe Allen did ok today.Although QPR were poor he put in plenty of tough tackles and closed down quickly, as did Stevie G.Still a long way to go but nice to see a bit more bite in the challenges !! Beardsley's Boot's {Ed052's Note - Allen was great today}

Not taking any thing away from the team today , but QPR didn't have a midfield in first half but we didn't look so comfortable in the second half and Allen still to light weight for me Stevie G maned it for me today

30 Dec 2012 18:41:07
Slate me if u will, but i will say it.

Henderson is a far better fit than jonjo , hes not great but he allows u to pass the ball and doesnt lose it. He gits into spaces and can drible and create space , strong enough to hold up the ball .
Hes not a great player, but he gets the job the done.

Suarez , suarez suarez, i mean really. Take this guy and put him in barca and he'd run circles around messi .

Lastly , i hope Assaidi and Yesil get some gametime soon.

Lovely game, but i think we needed to score more. We lack the killer instinct to absolutely terrorise teams like arsernal and chelsea do.

Ciah

Always rated Henderson all through the stick he gets

30 Dec 2012 19:19:13
I have said it before and I, ll say it again..Henderson cannot tackle and his passing is apalling. However, great win today. Thought Suarez was a constant menace and Allen made a difference closing down and giving a simple pass YNWA

Henderson quality, exactly the type of player you need in midfield!

Run rings around messi? wow after 1 win against qpr youve become delusional

His passing is apalling what game did u watch he set up the first goal henderson is going to be the next gerarrd or lampard englands under 21 captain under 21
red rrab

First goal was manufactured by Suarez himself!..he produced that goal out of nothing...Not to undermine henderson performances off late but I think jury is still out on him!...We have too many simple ball playing Midfielders in our team...Allen, Lucas, Henderson, Shelvey...Just a thought: But I would like to put Suso in midfield for couple of games instead of either Allen/gerrard...We are missing creative spark from midfield due to simple pass and move game..so need to mix it a bit..Personally I think Allen and gerrard getting in each other's way about controlling the game and both want more piece of action..As the saying goes: Too many cooks spoil the Broth!

30 Dec 2012 18:40:54
Well played, great 1st half by the boys today, just what we needed after the stoke defeat, 2nd half we slowed the game and took our foot off the gas but we could afford to coz QPR didn't even have a striker on the field and didn't pose a great threat to us all game, now we need to build on it! Thought these players had a good game today.... Reina, Johnson, Skrtel , agger, Enrique, Allen, gerrard henderson n Suarez!

I think sterling looks a little jaded, too much to soon for him , downing ... I still think his days are numbered in a Lfc shirt

Wish assaidi would get some game time, plus a special mention goes to Jamie carragher who is now joint level 2nd on the all time appearance list for Liverpool fc..... Well done and a true legend of the club

Personally believe that with Enrique's injury (hes been in top form hope hes not out for long) then Robinson should have a look in i've watched him with the reserves and I think he deserves a chance ahead of Downing. Not that I don't think Downing can do it I just think Robinson can do it better. But of course perhaps someone on here has seen more of Robinson and can say if hes got the quality to come in for Enrique if needed. Thoughts?

Rafa's Henchman

For what it's worth, I agree completely. Every time I've seen Robinson play (not a ton of times, admittedly, but a fair few) he's looked very good to me and I would love to see him get a few games in.

RDL

I remember him having Walcott in his back pocket. The lad looked good then

My only concern with Robinson is that he does not offer enough attacking threat in the limited games I have watched and this is needed for this formation to work at its best. Happy to be proven wrong as he looks a good player defensively.

Andy K

I'm amazed that he hasn't seen more first team action. He seemed sure to make the step up the the first team. I think his proble was that enrique was, contrary to popular opion on here, playing well. He now has a chance to make the position his own.

Why are people already saying that we have the short straw with Sturridge and Chelsea (supposedly) going in for Ba?
Yes his release clause is around £7m but with high agents fee, difficulty in getting insurance for his dodgy knees and high wages demands will make him more expensive overall plus him being older than Sturridge, I think LFC maybe better off

Stevie J {Ed052's Note - we are notin the Champions league, thus he would be much more than 7m}

Chelsea aren't in the Champions League either, so how much are they paying for Ba ? {Ed052's Note - im not sure}

good result but wont get carried away i lke hendo in the team alot more then jon jo seems to get involved alot more and its clear sterling isnt quite ready for all this football witch hopefully some signings will help that just feel he would be better come on for half hour and the odd full game then more next season again allen nothing about him just dont see the attraction. hopefully enrique isnt to bad cause lately been the player we bought and i have to say impressed with downings attitude as well took alot of stick and even when he has to play lb his head never drops and hes willing to do wat ever for the team top notch. see couple people slating lucas but remember this lad has been out for near on a year and anuone who has done there knee ligs nos it takes time to be confident again jumping in to takles and thumping passes with out the worry so he will need ten or so games! look rodgers has a lot work to do to make me feel he is the right guy and also realise his mistakes like hendo should start a head of jon jo and allen that he needs several plans not just plam a only time will tell cheers

Great performance today. Dipped in the second half when we took our foot off the pedal because the game was all but won. And to the glass half empty brigade, please don't say we won due to QPR being so poor. Our passing, tempo and movement made them look so poor. Hopefully, the new additions soon arriving will give current players a long overdue rest. Sterling especially as his level has dipped recently.

Overall job well done.

Is everyone actually slating Allen? Clearly you didn't watch the same game. Granted he doesn't play 40-50 yard cross field passes, but his game is simple passes, keeping the play simple, keeping the possession flowing. If you do not understand the role he's being played in please don't comment! First half we dominated the midfield, QPR were all over the place, we kept it nice and tight in the middle, not allowing opposition to play and get through! That is what allens presence is about, recuperating the ball, passing the ball sidewards, forwards, backwards, move away and provide another option.

Good win and a much needed 3 points.

QPR were poor and we rightly won.

Inconsistency will continue but Sturidge will bolster the attack and look forward to getting Borini back.

Lets hope that we can start scoring goals more frequently than we have as teams will score against us.

I really like the look of Suso and feel he has a big future ahead of him.

Sterling looks a bit tired but is so young and has made massive steps this season and anyone who slags him off know nothing IMO. He has a lot to learn still and will only get better.

Allen I'm still unsure what he offers us but will be a good sub.

Not sure what has happened to Sahin as was the one signing we made in the summer that actually looked a quality player.

Downing has done better but is not a starter to me.

30 Dec 2012 18:28:11
why is it liverpool are doing there business so openly this window i thought there was astrict behind closed doors policy?is it because the fans were unhappy with the previous transfer window?

30 Dec 2012 18:27:17
Seriously Sterling is just 18, suso the same. Get off their backs. Kids have inconsistency. But they need the game to get the consistency.
It's gonna take time but the youngsters will grow together and we will return, now anyone who wants to whinge about a 18 year old kid have a look at yourself at 18. Problem is most are not 18 yet.

Wow, even after a 0-3 win there are still moaners? Yes, QPR were awful, but does that mean you cant praise your team? Like one of the Ed's have said before you can only beat the team put in front of you and today we did that convincingly. It was not Sterling's best game but surely your not going to abuse an 18 year old? Bloody Hell. Judging by the reaction on here i'm pretty sure i know who the next LFC player to close their twitter account will be, because of abuse from some persons.

I can't believe what I'm reading, these can't be liverpool fans posting, he's just turned 18!! sterling had a decent game, why d'ya think Harry took put on another full back on sterling's side???? And Allen always wants the ball keeps the play moving think some people don't know basic football or it's other fans on a wind up.

Good performance and deserved the win. However, I wouldn't go and pop the champagne corks just yet!

Credit to the players for the first half performance but once QPR had changed formation and decided to play we found it difficult in the last third again. A better team or a team that pressed high would have caused us more problems.

Cant see what Allen adds to the team? We need a proper enforcer on midfield. The type of player who can pass and score but also physically have a presence. A kind of player who's name on the team sheet causes the opposition players to go 'oh sh!t' he's playing!

The sobering thought is that we have only beaten teams in the bottom half of the table and QPR are a shoeing for relegation. Not being negative but realistic. Still think BR and his coaching staff have a lot to prove and Sunderland will be more of a test with then a difficult fixture period coming up.

Hope all get well soon and happy new year to all REDS.

So, a win against a poor QPR side that now puts LFC above Swansea - you know, that team that are managed by that magician Laudrup that you all keep banging on about. I hope that sinks in with some people and they begin to respect and accept what BR and the coaches are trying to do here - the acquisition of Sturridge will only improve things IMO. Yes, some players didn't play like Messi (Sterling, Henderson, Downing) but then again could that have anything to do with the fact that they are NOT Messi?? BR is doing the best with what we have got - accept this or move on to following a club with shed loads of disposable income to throw around at superstars. This result has hopefully lifted everyone's doom and gloom that Stoke created, and I for one look forward to the New Year, new players and improved results. YNWA.

I thought that was a really top away performance today. The whole team played very well. Allen, Sterling and Gerrard were quality today. Standout performers was Suarez and Enrique. Lets hope Enrique injury is nothing too bad.

It's time to get some consistency now and then we will soon move up the league. I really like the one touch passing. It's understandable that Lucas is a little off the pace but we will reap the benefits soon.

Really pleased with the result but sterling did nothing at all today. We might as well've had 10 men out there today. He needs to be dropped

Sterling did play a fair bit better in the second half and drew a lot of fouls. First half non existant!

Win or lose today, we support the team.

Lets not start getting like other clubs and turning on the players/manager. Like Macca said BR arms are tied in the transfer market, he cannot sign top players no matter how much we want them. We are still in Europe, not far off 4th but I believe we'll finish at least 6th. See what happens in Jan. blame FSG for last summers transfer window not BR.

Looking at the story of us bidding for Sneijder you have to ask the following and still think its possible.

Ok so he's 28 years old, would want at least a four year deal which takes him to 32. Not that bad a deal in terms of length at club we still have Gerrard and Carragher there who are either older or the same age at present.

Currently on a reported 200 grand a week. So at present he's earning more than any of our player. Would he consider a wage of say 125 or 150 grand a week. No one knows.
The club has always said that if a truly world class player becomes attainable we would be in a position to compete for these players. I'd say Sneijder is in this category. Could FSG also be looking at the fact he could be bought for a modest 9.5 million? If so maybe this is how they would justify finding the salary Sneijder wants.

Is the Gazetto Delo Sport a reliable source to this question I certainly don't know. Maybe the Eds or Macca can shed some light on this. At present we can only think its paper talk regardless of the country it originates from.

Surely also a host of clubs from across Europe would be interested. True we already know he could pick from a bunch of clubs.
At present I only know for certain Russia is not a league that interests him, so that's one power that wouldn't be able to rival us. I'm sure in the UK alone he could pick from Arsenal Manc clubs, spurs possibly chelsea also. Bayern may also be interested and quite possibly others. So out of them Bayern, Mancs and Arsenal can offer CL football. City can offer money as can Chelsea.

It is possible the club could sell the idea to Sneijder that with his addition along with Sturridge that we would be more than capable of qualifying for CL football this season. Points wise we are not that far with the busy period coming up.

You could also argue we are only x amount of points off the relegation zone also.

I would love to see him at the club and it would be a real statement of intent by the club should we sign him, but I do doubt we will be able to prevent him joining a club that is already in the CL currently.

Our team win 3 nil away from home against Harry Redknapp and they still come in for some stick and criticism.

Some great fans we have!

Nothing wrong with some constructive criticism mind you, like a certain player didn't play well, e.g Sterling, or we took our foot off the pedal in the second half etc.

But why all the moaners, you're an absolute disgrace, (what did they want, an 8 nil victory today or something?)
We need to focus on the positives and a 3 nil win away from home is definitely a positive after a bad result.

We would all have taken 3 nil. I for one will give credit when its due. So well done.lads.
Now kick on next wed and bag another 3 pts .
We are far from were we want to be. And brendan has to buy well. But lets have some kop on please. We never looked liked loosing and kept a clean sheet. Id take that any day. Home or away.

It is indeed a job well done to the team and a solid win.

That said, the 2nd half was terrible. The point is we can't afford to get used to 'taking our foot off of the gas' nor should we ever do so. Today we got a bit lucky as a very expensive QPR squad seems to have been replaced by a pub team, but next time we're up by 3 and play like that for 45 minutes we could be in for a world of trouble.

against Sunderland with Downing reverting back to left back in the absence of Enrique.

Sterling needs a long awaited rest which has been evident over the last month, which will do Sterling the world of good.

The majority of posted messages on this page are slagging our players and manager off despite the fact that we p^^^^^ all over QPR away.

Either this is a playground for trolls, or the biggest problem we have is that Liverpool FC do not posess enough fans that can get behind the team.

People look back to Rafa, Shanks etc and yearn for those days to return. I yearn for the days when we had proper fans who got behind the team.

It's largely because we were awful in the 2nd half. Yes, we won (and soundly) but the effort level in the 2nd half was atrocious. A half-decent team would have proved a serious challenge for us, even up 3, playing like that. Thankfully QPR is at the moment not a half decent team. Flip side is a really good side would have continued the beating in the second half and probably walked away up six or more.

My thoughts exactly! After such a miserable few days after getting beat at Stoke , any win today would have done. But so many posters seem to enjoy slagging off individuals and Ynwa is clearly forgotten!

Good game 3 goals and 3 points. Wasn't an amazing second half but at the same time I felt really bad for QPR but we should have taken advantage and bagged a lot more goals. Sterling wasn't great but to be expected when hes 18 inconsistency just happens to be the way of young players but he played well in other games so no complains. But 3 goals away from home should be a boost of confidence for the new year coming fingers crossed we keep it up and build upon it and also nice to here the away fans being the loudest in the stadium for once!

Rafa's henchman

Did u not watch the same game? Sterling took the wide man and right back out of the game just to stop him! They even took off wright Phillips towards the end and brought on a more defensive player to cover him. If that's him having a poor game then what u expect him to do?
The whole team played well, all fought for the points and shut up shop nicely in 2nf half when qpr tried to change things. Excellent performance.

That was a great performance and just what we needed after last weeks embarrassment. We seemed to slack off a bit in the second half but a well deserved win.

Special mention out to Suarez who i do not know what we would do without (must be kept at all costs) and Stevie G who showed a glimpse of his old fighting self. Another mention should go out to the Ref who i think had a really good game. Nice for the match to be free of any "dodgy" decisions swaying the result.

What an absolute joke and disgrace of a substitution bringing Carragher on! That substitution is of absolutely no benefit to the team whatsoever, except to better his career game tally! Absolutely disgraceful!

BrisbaneLFc

Give it a rest boy. Carra came on to give Lucas a breather and he had been a fabulous servant to our club. Why shouldn't he do a few minutes there. We don't need fans like you, thanks.
ND

The game was over and it meant that Jamie equalled Billy Liddell's league appearances - I think he has deserved that, don't you?

FT

I would have been alright with it if it looked like we were making any effort in the second half of the game and we had run the score up further (which we really should have done easily), but given everyone was just lollygagging about I would much rather have seen Assaidi or Coates get a few minutes of game time.

RDL

He is part of the first team squad . Still reads the game very well so why not . It's a very thin squad and some have been ill so you have to use players . Think about it

3-0 up and the manager wants clean sheets to inspire further confidence in his depleted of confidence defence.

No, you're right. Brining on one of the most experienced defenders isn't at all a smart move, why aren't you the manager!?

The latter part of my comment is complete and utter sarcasm, i'm pointing this out because i refuse to rule out you failing to understand this. :)

You seem brighter when you don't comment.

He was brought on to sure up, Lucas isn't tackling well and Allen isn't really a defensive midfielder, didn't see anything wrong with that.

I reckon that the above post was more useless than carry coming on to organize us for the last 5 mins as our defense was shuffled with the Enrique injury

Can you find nothing else to moan about? I thought we were meant to be "whinging poms" - get a grip.

Oh my god, what a complete waste of a post, who cares if they brought on carragher so he can get his career appearances up to 2nd in the all time Liverpool list of appearances, great servant to Liverpool and deserves to be rewarded, do you have nothing better to do than complain about every little thing that goes on at Liverpool, you can't please some people can you, great performance today lads

Chill! Why the vehemence ?
When you've contributed as much as JC has over the years you deserve the odd gratuity, a true fan would not deny Jamie his hour in the sun.Ask yourself this Bribane, are you a real fan? me thinks not. Guday mate !! Beardsley's boot's

Look jc has been an amazing servant to this club and been one of the best central defenders of the premier league and this may be his last year i have no problems showing this guy respect he shows were 3 nil up why not fetch him on

grego

Funny , I don't remember him asking to come on against Stoke, but he won't just hang around for the money. He's a bullying, self seving slug mate and the sooner people wake up to this the sooner the club can move on or have we got a couple of more years of racking up cheap appearances till he catches Cally.Gareh Nev knew when to call it a day.

kush

A late substitution is used by a team to knock time off the remaining clock and to sure up the defence with an extra man.
managers have been doing it for decades, get a grip children!

s.p

Brisbane, mate, are you serious? I do not believe it was tactical at all outside of increasing Carra's match total, as has happened a few times this year. And why not? He has been a loyal servant to the club and so the club are doing what they can back to him. This will be his last year without a doubt in my mind, why not look after him a little? Disappointing Brisbane, disappointing. 3 nil up with minutes left, who wouldnt we do that?

Can I suggest you actually open your eyes next time you watch a footy match, just sitting there, feeling the telly, will not provide you with the correct information....

I cannot disagree with this enough. We played very well in the first half, then QPR made changes which made it more difficult for us to play, but didn't exactly cause us any problems. Sterling came good in the latter stages, and Allen was a reliable in the midfield - he and Gerrard ran the show in the first half. Stop moaning for moanings sake.

I'm a self confessed Rodgers sceptic and I post a lot of negative comments. I stand by my criticisms.
The same is true about FSG. Too many false hopes raised. Too trigger happy in summer. Manager search was an absolute circus!
I post the negative comments on here because it's an outlet. I don't want it spilling over into phone-ins or even matches, so this is my negativity outlet.
I have these negative worries because I fear for the future of the club. I worry if Rodgers is all he's cracked up to be and I worry about the lack of a stadium plan.

However, I can accept that today's performance a la Fulham has been a breath of fresh air. Purpose, tempo, penetration, commitment. Full credit to the manager and the players.

But Brendan needs to work out why we swing from one disaster (Villa, Stoke) to a triumph (Fulham, QPR) and he needs to sort that out ASAP. Our results have been awful and he needs to get consistency and defending and finishing sorted out.
If I see progress on these fronts believe me I will be the first to post on here!

Marcus Aurelius

Did anyone else think that we got it forward quicker today and mixed it up a bit more with longer balls forward into the channels?

Could this be because Rodgers wasn't actually there and they felt a bit more freedom?

If so, I hope Brendan was watching at home and realising that a bit of variation is preferable to sticking to your principles at all costs.

redmersey

I agree with you so much this is my out let to. ynwa

So, Marcus, what you are saying is if he sorts out the finishing, defending and consistency then BR will be accepted by you. Well, that's not asking much, is it? Surely that is what every manager and team need? Would you be satisfied if they won every game 5-0 or 6-0 for the rest of the season? Would that mean BR could stay with your blessing? Accept the fact that this is football and as much as that is what they aim for, it will never happen. Accept the bad times and enjoy the good times when they happen.

Fishyred.

I have problems with FSG and their stupidity and floundering and most of all listening to ''people who know best''.

But Rodgers simply hasn't had long enough or enough funds to create his own team.

FSG thought Rodgers would be able to implement a winning mentality and turn the players from direct to passing approach, i don't think they (FSG) realised they'd need near a whole new squad to be successful with it.

I've typed it three times in the last two days, as it's true and sums up the pickle we find ourselves in. FSG owner John Henry was in Miami with Roberto Martinez a week before Rodgers (the number one target) agreed to take the job.

I'd say Assaidi (assuming he's fit) should definitely get a run in instead. The lad is a great prospect, but he really isn't offering much to the team at the moment.

Right I've held my tongue for long enough, how awful is Sterling? EVERY time he has the ball he loses it, I haven't seen him beat a man all season. Very very frustrating.

He's a kid who shouldn't be playing every minute of every game...but he has to because he's better than the majority of players. He's obviously talented, and once the squad is improved he'll be able to come in and out every second game and really show his quality.

Once again, he's a talented kid who has signed a 5 year contract because he's dedicated to Liverpool. Lay off him.

He's one of the best prospects in Europe and needs our support to turn him into one of the worlds better players. By already turning against him you have shown yourself up.

MIKEY

He has just turned 18 and it is his 1st season in premiership.

He is the future of this club and what you should do is get behind him and stop slagging him off.

steve068

Shane, how would we know how better or worse anyone else is, we never see anyone else play. Always Sterling, IMo he needs to be spelled for a good 4 - 6 weeks.

BrisbaneLFC {Ed001's Note - we never see anyone else play? So I must have dreamt him being left out of the last couple of games then?}

Stevie gee and louis keeping us away from the drop zone

Sterling one of the best prospects in Europe is he Mikey, then we did well to fend off ALL the top clubs that were queuing up to sign him then.

You should be on the stage

alan50

BrisbaneLFC,

I guess you're right. Let's sell him and stick with Cole & Downing on the wings so. Those guys are excelling.

-Shane.

Brisbane - disppointed. Are you bitter about not getting what you wanted for Christmas, mate?

alan50 - Standard from you and boring. Bordering on a troll.

Would like to see either Assaidi or Suso get some game time today think they would shine in a game like this.

Rk, they both should have started the second half, perfect time to put them on, but as usual it never happens.

Nice to be controlling a game, and also winning..... However, some constructive criticism:

Sterling very wasteful. Obviously part of clubs future, but I personally don't think he is starting 11 yet.

Henderson works hard and breaks up plays. Too bad he really can't pass.

Allen sort of quietly makes little safe passes, but for 15 million pounds, I thought he would have some range. Hasn't shown any.

Suarez brilliant as always

Coop

If you took xavi out of barca he would look bang average , But he is experienced player now ....young joe allen will be part of a jigsaw to make a great team in years to come we hope !

30 Dec 2012 17:25:05
What does Allen do for the team??

Makes them win

Inidan buzzer will give you a perfect answer...

Some people don't have a clue about football do they.....Allen was great today

Surely time to get Suarez off rest him, hes taksn knocks and played more or less every minute, we zhould be protecting him for the coming games

Team playing well but sterling not at races today. Poor vision, short passes, not with it dribbling. Needs a rest I think.

30 Dec 2012 17:38:46
Still to much space behind our midfield & really good sides would score at least another two on the break but we are a work in progress looks like downing staying just shows where we are we get chelsea fourth choice striker & they get Ba to replace him but we shall see also feel we need a tom inc quick but can finish which when sterling can do that we should look quite tasty!

30 Dec 2012 17:01:56
Is it just me or is sterling another over hyped british talent he has been brutal in the first half. Assaidi would tear qpr a new ass-hole down that left hand side REDMICK

Give the young lad a break, hes only 18, hell come good with guidance from BR. IN Brendan we Trust.

Think Taarabt would be a great addition to our squad, great determination touch and shot, a real driving force.

After watching Allen, Gerrard and Henderson how could anyone think Taarabt would not be a better option, talk about rose tinted glasses from some supporters here. Some of you really need to start seeing what's happening in our side.

I assume that the Taarabt comment is a joke - serious attitude problem AND I cannot understand why ANY premiership teams sign African players since they lose the good ones for 6 weeks or so at the start of the year

Couldn't be more bothered. Just praising liverpool blindy is just a joke.qpr aren't even making an attempt to play today..until we win 4-5 games straight either home or away then I would praise this team, not when they hammer relegation teams

I agree, QPR are woeful, give any prem team that space to play and they will batter you. see how things are away to utd in a couple weeks.

30 Dec 2012 16:57:20
Not a bad 1st half performance 3-0 up with only 10 men.

Sterling contributing nothing, we need to up the passing and have more movement off the ball

alan50

30 Dec 2012 16:55:26
Also, I don't think it's a coincidence that teams are starting to play terribly against us. I think this is the beginning of the "death by football" - we wear teams out with our passing, and when you are tired your performance levels seriously drop. I think we will see more teams performing terribly against us in the future.

B101

But we scored 3 in the first half and none when they were supposedly tiring,
robbie

well have admit to being one of the knockers after the stoke game and still feel Rodgers is not the man for us but whatever he said privately to the team after the stoke match must have sunk in
brilliant first half Suarez is the best striker in the premier league if we could just find consistency I'd be prepared to change my mind re BR

30 Dec 2012 16:53:53
¼ of the signings for the senior team since Rodgers has been in charge have been English.. your young English and crap argument for our signing policy is VOID... just saying

Cudge

How exactly does that make the argument "void"? I believe the word you are looking for is wrong or inaccurate, however, that would be a straw man argument. I believe the criticism is British not English. I personally don't agree with the criticism but just saying.

I think Henderson and Suarez have played really well at the time of writing - half time.

Hendo cant even complete a pass

Didn't he complete a pass to suarez who then scored a goal....another deluded fan who doesn't know what he is talking about! PJRED

Still not convinced henderson can help the team. still think he would be better off somewhere else.

30 Dec 2012 16:51:06
Its strange how we always score loads of goals when we are average, and then fail miserably when we actually play well. So far could be up by 5. And so far it looks like our players are tired.

30 Dec 2012 16:49:27
allen, downing and henderson are crap against qpr hope there will be some subs like assaidi, he is on the bench for once.

hey guys

to fully understand why liverpool are so poor this season...

lets look at 1 example......

henderson playing behind suarez!...jordan henderson...who used to play sunderland, as a typical english midfielder, box to box, only european experience is against U21 for england...

henderson.........guys!

1...is he technically gifted.........NO
2...Will he ghost past players NO
3... does he have pace...........NO
4.. can he slide the ball through an eye of a needle..like stevie g.............NO

so what on earth..will he do in the game? i mean this seriously?..........every fan for lfc wouldnt play him there

and thats why we are crap

red lobster

Atleast we can make fun of persons like you when proven wrong 30 min later. Henderson has been brilliant this game! Would you like to come out and say how wrong you are?

Hope you feel as much a Muppet as that made you look!

But hey why miss a chance to slag a young lad off!!

Lyndon

Muppet? on which point was he wrong? he's spot on, I don't understand some people's fascination with henderson. he does absolutely nothing to help the team.

Sigh...all names should have capital letters and please concentrate on the correct and appropriate use of apostrophes.

30 Dec 2012 16:39:58
The whole team playing well apart from sterling for me. He seems to have lost his talents the last couple of games but he is still way to young to judge. Assaidi to replace him at half time.

Really careless use of the ball. Such a frustrating player.

Jamesy

Ask yourself this . Would QPR fans feel sorry for us if we were 3 0 down ? I don't think so

I am in way, but everyone would be laughing at us if we was I there position.

Square tomato

I can't feel bad for them really, many of their players are on good money, Harry's fixing problems he's inherited from prior management at the club. But Tony Fernandes must have seen the Championship as a realistic reality maybe unwanted and not desired but QPR were one of the clubs on shaky ground ever since they got promoted, they haven't used their youth they've signed players for little fee's but big wagers.

''Management messed it up''. How familiar is this becoming in the finance based game of football!?

This is why i am personally very worried about FSG and their blue sky thinking approach to the club we all love.

So with all that being said, football is a point system and you need to battle hard in every game. Most teams can sense that we are very weak in terms of confidence and consistency, so it's a welcome change in my opinion. These are the games we need and must build on from.

I do to, only because of Harry and how the players look like their panicking. But we're in trouble ourselves.

No me too Harry has taken on too big a task with qpr

30 Dec 2012 16:31:20
This is not a wish but I do have a strange feeling that at the end of the season Rafa will finish his short interim period at Chelsea and the owners will recognise his strong performance this season and give him the role at Liverpool.
I am a big Rodgers fan but I just think this is on the cards.
Thoughts?
Puzzled Red

30 Dec 2012 16:48:59
I have discovered that wishing and hoping things will happen, and speculating over what will or will not happen has absolutely no influence over what does eventually happen...therefore I will go with the flow! I wouldn't complain if Rafa came back, however I also want to know what Brendan has up his sleeve. I'm past being bothered how we get there, I just want to see us doing well

Wow I'm not sure I've ever seen this before. We're winning 3-0 yet still the manager must be changed?

We do seem to be a home for Chelsea cast offs a bit like one of those tv programmes full of ex soap opera stars

Depends how Rodgers gets on with the rest of the season. I can see a turn around in performances if we ofload the rubbish in jan

Cudge

Depends on where we finish

Rafa will be expecting a £40+ million transfer pot a season, we went for Rodgers for his modest spending in the transfer market.

Martinez was in Miami with John Henry a week later Rodgers had the job. Just the facts.

I hope that Rafa does prove that he is still a good manager and is offered the role again at the Anfield hot seat. BR is a nice man and has a good knowledge of the game, i just feel that Liverpool was one step to soon for him. A lot was said of Rafa when he managed us and the signings, But i do believe for example Aqua man was hicks and gillet signing/idea and not Rafa's.
Rafa made some outstanding signings, Torres, Mash, Alonso, Reina, Johnson and he managed to keep Gerrard with us. Yes as all managers, even the best make some bad signings, but keane was an unfortunate one because everyone would have taken him and his record. For me and just my opinion, Please bring back ''RAFA THE GAFFA''

Baz

Rafa should be brought in as a talent finder d.o.f or something it would cost a fortune to sack rodgers id say and wouldnt benefit the club we need stability for atleast two full seasons

30 Dec 2012 16:29:50
Please everyone who have slated us just before this game come out and say your an person and next time maybe get behind us even before we've started the game? I'm not joking but if Liverpool fans were actually like this I would say we have the most useless set of fans ever. Good thing they ain't.

We played terribly at stoke, they deserved the criticism. Your just deluded. Your no better than the people that criticise the manager every time something goes wrong. Because you think your better than them when you praise the team when we are winning. Stay quite you arrogant mug, like the rest of the true fans. Opinions are opinions.

I'm arrogant? Mate can you give me a definition of support? Your deluded if you think br has a magic wand and thinks he can change this team around straight away. People on this site are persons thinking everytime we lose we will get relegated. Considering we have a team full of teenagers it's not suprising were inconstant. Get real mate

Up The 'Pool.

TAFFYTEL

Benny i was referring to the fact Stevie said the players were confident and would givr a hammering. I never predicted the score. Stevie did. In no way did i give it the big one.

Taffytel

To be honest, Taffytel, if you were to ask a player what they were expecting from the next game would you expect anything other than 'we're going to thrash them'? Pretty sure no one with half a brain would say 'yeah, I expect QPR to batter us good'?

Before I type the whole conversation, he was basically pissed off with recent results along with the rest of the team. They felt they are better than what's been happening. Obviously any player will say they are up for it mad say a good score but he had a look or should I say scowl that told me he meant it. He was nt pumped but also told fellow guests they were relaxed that they were gonna smash QPR. Not sure whether it was because I was star struck but I believed him. hence my post. Also have to say that Sahin has no bruising under eyes but does nt look happy one bit. Did nt really mix with players. Oh and wisdom is a beast. From my opinion today all players went in gym to stretch or warm up and Carragher stayed behind with coaches. He seems to have a lot of input and respect and rightly so. Hope he stays on as coach and future manager.

To answer question,
No I don't feel silly. We aren't playing well. Sterling wasteful. Hendo cannot pass. Allen doing little to nothing. We are simply playing a squad that is broken. Nice to be up 3 - 0 , but I won't jump to conclusion that we are a finishe product based on this game.

And yes, Canadians watch hockey. Think that makes you racist! I'm calling the FA.

Demba ba is indeed speaking with Chelsea today, Liverpool are interested however I believe it to be unlikely that a move would come to fruition, I did mention a while ago that Liverpool believed Ba to be an option

I still believe that Walcott is an option although today he did have a more positive conversation with Afc today regarding his contract

I believe Walcotts preference is to stay at Afc, but if they can't come to a contract agreement then I believe Liverpool would very much be in the driving seat

30 Dec 2012 15:18:07
Can anyone explain why nuri sahin the madrid wonder kid is not starting or even on the bench
Ali g

Injured - broken nose i think

Allen, downing and Henderson are better players :-0

I think he's either struggling or not favoured. He's been relatively weak for us so far, i know he had a slight facial injury but i think his reaction to criticism has been the opposite of what i had hoped to see.

I do need to contest your tag of being ''Real Madrid's wonder boy.'' He has been under performing for them, even being overlooked often as other players have settled much better into Real's team than Sahin has done, although Modric isn't doing very well either to be honest, but that was the player who replaced Sahin's spot in the team.

Which is the direct reason he was allowed to leave for a season long loan. With Mourinho openly admitting Sahin will retain more value if he plays regularly than if he doesn't, which explains Real will be selling him.

Arsenal wanted to tie up a deal from an initial year loan to a permanent transfer but Sahin didn't want that, so we took him on a year long loan basis instead, for £5 million pound. Wenger wanted to assure himself the player after the loan. Why put a year into a player, at high cost and lose him for nothing at the end!?

He certainly isn't a wonder kid any more, he once was at Dortmund and for the Turkish national team but he's not proved himself at club level outside of Germany, yet.

Liverpool have made a bid for want away Inter playmaker Wesley Sneijder, Gazzetta dello Sport have claimed.

The Milan-based paper have reported that the Premier League club have made a bid in the region of 10m for the Dutch international.

He is without doubt an excellent manager however I rarely enjoyed the style of football we played despite a really strong team for the most part. Does anyone know if Liverpool showed any interest in Ba. Given the price difference and the scoring record over the past 12 months it seems Chelsea are getting a good deal should they off load a moody sturridge on us and replace him at a 5m profit with Ba.
Shame BR had not met Ba at some point in his past, he may have considered signing him.

Ba has a degenerative knee problem which could force him to retire at any time
huddz red

Once again he's never coached, dated or been sturridge's father. Ba's knee issues and the 7 million clause only works if we are a cl team we aren't.

Everyone has to remember our youth means we are going to be in consistent. Everyone has to have patience when they get that bit of experience we will have a quality side. But as Macca as said its keeping our decent players like suarez he wants champions league I love the guy and he is loyal but who could blame him? If we can get a run of wins now it won't look to bad

Red twist

30 Dec 2012 14:59:04
What Macca said yesterday was BANG ON! It is far too early to say Rodgers should go. So far he has stabilised Liverpool, convinced Suarez and Sterling to sign new contracts, got us out of the group stages of the Europa League (with a weakened squad throughout) and is strengthening our squad with good young players...... It took Shankley a while to build up his squad, look what happened there! And I believe Rogers, if given time could prove to be the guy we've needed for a long time! Trust me, I am researching for my university dissertation about financial fair play, we cannot buy big players and with big wages, so it will be harder for Rodgers. Please give him time

30 Dec 2012 15:06:37
spot on give the man time hes got a young squad. any team news yet?

Liverpool were in the 2ND division when shanks took over. Liverpool are now one of the bigger clubs of the world today thanks to him. There is no comparison between the two situations.

liverpool will lose today, then lose to sunderland, probably scrape past mansfield, lose to united, draw norwich and then get battered by arsenal again, BR will be gone by the end of January!

Ah, no name poster, we've been expecting you.

Lets see how we do without Mr Rodgers today! Get well soon along with Brad

One way of looking at it is, we couldn't do any worse!

30 Dec 2012 14:46:41
Eds can any of you shed any light on the Demba ba rumours. His release clause of 7 million is only activated at that if its from a Champ League team. And would that mean if We or any other non champ leage team were to bid the fee would be higher.

please reply with your info.

Redman4ever {Ed052's Note - Im not sure there's any light to shed. You've just said everything thats relevant}

True eds lol, but can you confirm that there is any truth in this. {Ed052's Note - Well yes its true. Its common knowledge}

30 Dec 2012 14:41:43
hi eds
do you think that the rumours of rodgers having to do well in the next 3 games or he is out has anything to him being "ill" for the game today {Ed052's Note - The reason he is ill is becuase of horrible bacteria, not because of anything else}

30 Dec 2012 14:40:47
So 12m for a young fairly inexperienced sturridge. Or 7m for a player already on 13 goals this year in Ba.

Why do Liverpool not make a bid for Ba as well as sturridge?

Just appears chelsea will be getting rid of sturridge for Ba and 5 mill profit it appears and that seems like a right bargain!

Any interest in Ba from the reds?

Thanks Eds, Manno {Ed052's Note - Ba would not pass a medical, and could be forced to retire at any time}

And he is a clear money grabber, he only wants a move coz he gets 2.5 million of the transfer fee as well as the payments for his advisors

30 Dec 2012 14:39:56
Sky reporting Demba Ba in talks with the Chelsea. Looks like Sturridge is nailed on.

Dan {Ed052's Note - Sturridge has been nailed on for around 3 weeks...}

30 Dec 2012 14:39:44
Is it true that BR has not travelled with the squad?

Could it have anything to do that, if we lose today, he will have the same record as Woy, and we all know what happen to him?

Yorksred {Ed052's Note - he's ill}

29 Dec 2012 21:36:44
Hey eds! Cracking job guys. Just want to ask about this youth lad Joao Carlos Teixeira. I havent seen much of him but he seems very highly rated. What type of player is he? Who can you compare him to?
EdurificAzy {Ed052's Note - I will hopefully get round to profiling him. He's sort of a right footed Suso, likes to go past players, thread a pass, have a shot etc. He has hardly played tho due to injury. He really needs to get a run of games together}

30 Dec 2012 14:26:51
Apart from Man U all teams can beat anyone this year, some of the results that have come out you would never have put money on.

No one in the league seems able to keep a clean sheet.

Who would have thought Southampton would have scored 3 against Stoke after the way we got battered by them, also Aston Villa who were great when we played them have been thrashed since.

QPR will be a difficult game for us to win IMO, they have better attacking options unlike us with only 1 in Suarez.

With a couple more attacking players in Jan who knows.

I don't fully blame BR for our season so far, FSG have all to answer for in not getting another striker.

Apart from Man U? Are you serious? We have let more goals in than most teams in the premiership. Lost at home to Tottenham and away at Everton and Norwich. Shipped 3 goals at Reading and 3 at home to Newcastle but keep getting dug out of holes by scoring so many goals. Trust me, we may be 7 points clear but it has been a struggle so far. The good news (for us, not you) is that it is unlikely to continue now Vidic is fit.

AJH

Didn't Norwich beat Man U?

AsianRed

FSG gave BR £30M amd he spend £15M on allen.

LOL

Newcastle and AV have shipped in 7/8

With Rodgers saying he has to give Suarez some hope (and probably the rest of the team aswell) could an of the ed's see a surprise signing maybe someone that would make a bit of a statement? Not trying to get people in to a frenzy but just curious. Thanks ed's

Yes, we're getting Cavani to keep Luis happy.

30 Dec 2012 13:49:25
As we all know Sturidge and Ince will more than likely sign if the deal for Ince can be agreed. But my thought is who will be the loan signing? Heard a lot of players being mentioned but to me surely it must be a striker. I think we could see a bit of a shock here maybe a bigger name with not having to pay a big transfer fee why not? We could do with another experienced attacker to help Suarez. No doubt Sturidge will get goals but hes not exactly old. Could be interesting indeed! I know we were interested in Jeffran but it went quiet. Any ED's heard of any possibilities? {Ed002's Note - No, sorry.}

30 Dec 2012 13:43:42
I read through all the posts today and read all those people tempting fate saying we're going to show QPR what we're made of etc etc. I remember reading how before the Villa game we were going to win our next 6 league games. I remember last week how er were going to win our next 4 games.

However, it's done now. The point of my post is something has dawned on me regarding the refusal to pay for Sigurdson and Dempsey in the summer.

We all remember the painful process of appointing a new manger where our club was made into a circus. We remember Rodgers initially ruling himself out, Klopp ruling himself out, AVB ruling hiself out, Martinez ruling himself out, talk of Van Gaal, Guardiola etc etc. We also know FSG wanted a structure which included a Director of Football.

Time was running out in the summer so Brendan was re-approached. Mourinho came out and said he felt sorry for Bren after he took the job. Marcelle Desailly encouraged Brendan to turn the job down saying it was too early for him.

The way things have panned out with funding of signings etc etc leads me to believe that Rodgers was never the preferred target and FSG have put him in there to see how he does but with another target in mind.

Basically I think Rodgers is a man who is there to start the ball rolling but is not there for the long term in the eyes of FSG and they will indulge him to a point until they can pursuade someone better to take the job.

30 Dec 2012 14:14:21
someone is posting that cause rodgers is ill and wont be at the match he has been sacked...lol

29 Dec 2012 23:10:52
Ed001, a question for u.mate. I absolutely love Fernando suso as a player and although hes still 18, what position does BR see him in. For me he should be given a shot at being a no 10. Hes a wonderfully gifted player with outstanding technical ability and skill. What do you make of him and what position would you put him in to develop? {Ed001's Note - that is the position he is expected to end up in, he has been played in different positions purely for his own development. He spent a while playing as a central midfielder to improve his workrate and movement, which I think will help him. He could even end up playing as a deep sitting, Xabi Alonso kind of playmaker, depending on the system he is playing in. For me, that would waste his ability to ghost past a player and create space for a pass, that needs to be utilised as high up the pitch as possible. I love watching him play, I just wish he had pace too, then he would be head and shoulders above our other options. For me, I would like to see him used as the alternative behind Suarez, rather than Shelvey.}

I agree totally! Have said on here numerous times that I think Suso is our long term number 10. He would kill it playing just behind Suarez.

BrisbaneLFC

Suso has got ridiculous potential if we did sign & it is a big if with wages & other considerations, sneijders he would be a great player/mentor to players such as suso, texeira & Allen think he could have a similar effect that Gary mccallister had when he was at the club...

Anybody else see Pienaar's unusual tribute to our very own Robbie Fowler when he just scored?

His top under his Everton top said 'GOD IS GREAT'!!

We know Steven, we've known for years. Glad a bitter blue can admit it ;)

It was suppose to say Rodgers is great but the RERS fell off relegation red!!

Tree Blue

To whoever clicked the 'disagree' button i was being sarcastic for 'Gods' sake!!!!

Fell off? Bit like the wheels will on your above average season that you're having. Enjoy it while it lasts kid

What because we lost against Chelsea no name!
Sorry should we have lost against Villa and Stoke!

Tree Blue

30 Dec 2012 16:57:04
It's ok Tree Blue, two down, just another 35 or so seasons of finishing above us to go until you have any sort of bragging rights, you must be on the edge of your seat!

30 Dec 2012 13:40:07
I guess this is the match where we see how much of an impact Colin Pascoe and Mike Marsh have on the team, they will take charge as BR is ill, hope they do well so people on this site stop having a go at them. If you are not there at training, during team talks etc. How could you possibly know what they do or do not do?

AsianRed

30 Dec 2012 14:15:15

They can't play any worse than they played at stoke

30 Dec 2012 13:22:08
We can make top 4..sturridge and ince would score loads of goals and rodgers is the right manager for liverpool.our team is very young and will challenge for the league in a couple of years.

That is the kind of dumb post some people want to keep reading here, so to always avoid the truth..come may when suarez has had enough of playing around mediocre players

30 Dec 2012 13:47:01
Yeah i completly agree one thing u dont have in football now is time whether we like it or not it is a money sport and if u dont invest u will be left behind having said that we should certainly be in a better position than we are now with the squad we have!sturidge and ince will inprove are squad for sure but we still need a proven striker for the now!

Not true..... Everton don't spend vast amounts of money do they n look where they are most seasons

30 Dec 2012 13:19:50
Rodgers sent home coz of illness.....great ..... Not {Ed002's Note - He was never going to get a game anyway.}

Be very interesting to see how pascoe and co get on standing in for BR. i hope for BR's sake we win and comfortably otherwise i fear it will show how inadequate the back room staff are.
huddz red

It is great, watch the players put in a performance now they are not being stifled by tippy-tappa Brendan.

My optimism for today's game has just massively increased!

Ed ,

you say he was never going to get to this game anyway, why...

is he in Milan?
this is how rumours start you know.

red jay {Ed001's Note - you might want to read it again, he was saying Rodgers wasn't going to be playing, not get to the game!}

Rodgers is probably a better footballer than some of our players lol

30 Dec 2012 13:19:44
Eds why doesn't Rodgers play sahin or asaidi or Henderson reason y am saying this is because Rodgers spoke bout Carroll being on to much money an sitting on the bench now isn't sahin on more money I think he will be saving them for second part of season Iv got a gut feeling we will come good this start of season is bout bringing youngsters to adapt premierleague {Ed002's Note - That is a "Dear Brendan" question - I am no longer picking the team.}

Sahin has suffered from 2 different injuries in the past few weeks. I know one was a muscle injury and the other a broken nose. He'll probably be on the bench today. Assaidi also has been out injured, he will also be travelling with Morocco for the African Nations. Henderson will be starting today's match. {Ed001's Note - a lot depends on who is fit enough to play, the bug has cut down on the options.}

30 Dec 2012 13:14:04
this possession lark in ye own half im not an einstein . but if the ball is in your half more than the oppositions that can only mean by percentages that you have more chance to concede and less chance to score.

30 Dec 2012 13:14:01
just heard that br hasnt travelled wit the squad today due to illness and that theres a bug in the camp and some players havent travelled. sky said 1 was brad jones but didnt name any other players anybody hear who else didnt travel??????

30 Dec 2012 13:14:01
Eds , fellow reds just read no BR for qpr game because of illness and some squad players .do you know which players are ill

30 Dec 2012 13:13:10
Brendan Rodgers said this week that there will be limited spending this window but the purse strings will be relaxed alittle in the summer.

Is this because we will have a new manager in June? {Ed002's Note - He is saving the money for SSN when he comes in.}

30 Dec 2012 13:06:16
I guarantee that Rodgers will not be in the dugout for the next match at QPR. Is it a sign that the board have lost faith in him? No. It's a sign that he'll be at home sat on his Armitage Shanks throne with a roll of Andfrex in the fridge. Brendan, Glen Driscoll and Brad Jones have got the sh1ts!

30 Dec 2012 13:03:18
hey lfc fans

if fans have opinions that they want a manager sacked...then they can say what they want..its the whole point of this website..so those telling people we must only say positive things..then it is you who are using the wrong website.

i think qpr will win this..and the best result will be a draw........im just judging this by form and results with qpr in the past.
of course i hope lfc win...but just cant see it today

Eds and fellow reds

Allen-sturrige-borini
£38 mil
£120-150 salary £120-150 pw

or
Sneijder-lorrente
Max £20 mill
And we are left with £18 mil for they wages?

I wuld have sneijder& lorente any time
Your thoughts fellow reds {Ed002's Note - It would also leave the club a player short and a crippling wage bill. You're not doing business studies are you?}

It's no brained eds. but BR and FSG can't see it. Business studies? London cab eds {Ed002's Note - I agree it is no brained.}

120-150 pw that must be below minimum wage

Haha BURNED ! Ooosh

30 Dec 2012 12:53:36
I think Liverpool fans have a habit of over-reacting, this is clearly evident on this site, whenever we win it's *** points from top 4, whenever we lose it's Brendan out. Isn't there any sort of middle-ground? I, myself am expecting a comfortable win, seeing as though during the campaign QPR's main problem has been keeping the ball and i think a rested Raheem Sterling and Joe Allen will really hurt them. Would like a surprising line-up to give the lads a kick up the ar*e, possibly recall the likes of Wisdom and Coates?
Prediction: LFC 3-1 Suarez (2), Sterling and Taraabt for QPR

AsianRed

We need more draws to find out ;-)

30 Dec 2012 12:50:13
If what I'm told we could have some wealthy Indian business men investing into LFC this is from a good source before anyone asks. We've had the cowboys and now you want the Indians! (Before Ed002 makes a comment I know that are called Native Americans these days). I should also say that the source is a very nice curry sauce.

At present at the crossroads. forward or backward , the two things that at present time are letting us down concede easy , cant score which way do we go now brendan

I would suggest forward.

30 Dec 2012 12:41:24
I have supported Rodgers coz I believe he is the right man for the job and to take us forward, I pray to god we win today or else more people will jump on the " get Rodgers out campaign "...... It's time for a lot of players to stand up and be counted instead of having the mentality that other players will do all the hard work n they can take it easy

Ack17

I have supported Rodgers coz I believe he is the right man for the job and to take us forward

LOL

Swansea had a minus goal difference of seven last year, only won 11 games. we have similar record .

You'll all see one day that Rodgers is the right man for the job

Brendan take us forward?

About as forward as a Joe Allen pass.

Allen is class, if he played against stoke we would of at least given them a game.... At least Allen battles where others in team shy away for it

30 Dec 2012 12:40:44
I think its time our midfield was shaking up, Sahin has to start every game the lad is class, if he had the same playing time as Allen he would be settled and assisting goals IMO.. Joe is not up to it lately nor is Lucas due to his injury which will take time. Why not play 2 holding Lucas and Nuri to stem the goals. A tatical change is needed untill rodgers has the players to compliment his style. 4-4-1-1 Gerrard behind Suarez.

30 Dec 2012 12:57:13
Sahin?

He's had practically zero impact so far, even when he was starting. He's nice and tidy on the ball, but he's rarely been able to put it to good use and is bullied to easily. And he has a broken nose, which is what has kept him out for the last few weeks.

Our midfield should be Lucas, Henderson/Allen & Gerrard atm.

- Something Red -

30 Dec 2012 13:11:30
I couldnt agree more its all very well trying 2 play the barcelona philosphy but we dont have that class of players surley u have 2 play the best tactics and formations that suite the players u have!but there is no excuse for not buying a no9 in the summer and instead paying 15m for another mid!!

30 Dec 2012 11:48:06
Its been awfully long since Gerrard has banged them in from 30 yards. I have a feeling that today is the day.
Ears are itching to be honest to hear HOW HARD?? GERRARD!!!

You won't see that under BR tactics. Gerrard 30 yard screamers and 50 yard cross field passes are discouraged under this new style. Hence stifling SG game and why he has been under performing.
I think we will be lucky to walk away with a draw today. Harry is good at organising his teams

30 Dec 2012 11:47:37
It's very clear to me that we lack a number 10. Suarez gets into some wonderful positions, as does Sterling and Borini (when he returns). However the ball very rarely arrives, hence why we're looking so lacking in the final third. The other issues of this is that we become predictable, slow things down or Suarez tries to take on 5.

Shelvey has been tried there, but seems to suit a deeper role in my opinion, as his range of passing and style is better for an all action role. Sahin was also tried there, but again suits a deeper playmaking role, which he's not really been given time to show, either due to injury or preference. Suso is the player being groomed for this position in the long run, but he's not ready yet. He has all the potential qualities, close control, precise passing, great dribbling skill and a range of shooting (judged from reserve football), but is young and inexperienced and that role takes time to grow into.

Gerrard was that player of old, but did always lack a little finesse in that position. He was perfect in the Rafa system of pace, counter and drive, which combined with his long range shooting made him the number 10 of old. Under a slow, possession based game though he's not that man. I know he can still pass the ball, but cut and thrust really doesn't suit BR's style.

All of the above, plus what BR has been saying leads me to believe that we're looking at a more experienced number 10. Someone to come in and make an immediate impact, then perhaps pass over the mantel to Suso in 2 or 3 years time. There are plenty of costly options such as Kaka, Sneijder etc but in all reality I don't think any are viable. Young proven players in Erickson and Isco, would probably demand champions league, ruling them out.

In reality I don't have a name, a hunch or anyone I'd like, but I hope we find that player as I think they're crucial to creating clear cut goal scoring chances and shaping the way we play in the final third. Without this player, I don't think we'll ever become a force in the premier league, it's a crucial vital role.

Papa G

Brilliant post, like this one a lot.

M

Brilliant post Papa G, I think it's going to be a couple of years before we really start to contend again, and I think it will be Suso that plays as the playmaker in the future, as we won't be able to attract players like Eriksen etc. I think we need to stick with Rodgers as he is starting to implement a good style of football. We're bound to have some bad results along the way, but when we play well we can beat anyone in the league, we just need to develop the consistency and mentality teams like United - unfortunately - have had for years.

Alan Partridge

Excellent point Papa. I think we should have gone for Cazorla, before that Mata, and before that Silva, but we never got any of them or really went for them in my opinion. We ended up getting Riera, Downing and Allen.

Isco and Eriksen have the game intelligence to play that role to perfection in my opinion but it will be very difficult to convince them to come.

Arda Turan is I think our best bet.

The real AG

Looking so lacking in the final third, we average 19 shots per game, the most in the premier league, how many more chances do you want us to create?

Most of those shots are wild swings from Suarez, or long punts. Not clear cut chances, just watch how little we wok opposing keepers, e.g Guzan

Just something that crossed my mind. Anyone think gerrard is disobeying BRs tactics? The old saying of not teaching old dogs new tricks, leopards dont change their spots an all that.
With the ego he has, its possible? During a game he might think "**** it, im guna go over there" or stuff like that? obviously i cant give a good example cus i dunno what br tells him to do! Its just a thought as hes not played well all season.
Secondly, i think joe allen will thrive against a team like QPR, and i believe Reina should be dropped for jones.
Benny baller

30 Dec 2012 12:54:52
I doubt Gerrard is purposely disobeying tactical instructions, he wouldn't be in the team if he was.

What I would say is that Gerrard's positional sense when he's playing in a deep role isn't very good. He doesn't read the danger from the opposition midfielders properly and can't cover the ground as quickly as he could when he was 25 to make up for it. Someone did a very good write up of some of the goals we conceded under Hodgson coming from this a while back. I can't find it now, though.

He also never seems to be able to balance when to move forward and when to stay put. He always either ends up standing on the centre halves for the whole game or doing the opposite and rushing forward too early and leaving gaps, so the play breaks down before anyone can pick out his run and we're caught on the counter, and rarely in between.

This is why I think he needs to be playing off the striker so he can go forward whenever it suits him without the play breaking down or the team being a man light in midfield.

Can't see it Benny. Gerrard is a team player. How do you explain the fact that every player at times has struggled this season?

Simple, it's because of Rodgers tactics, not in spite of them

30 Dec 2012 13:33:40
Fair enough, like i said was just a idea. I didnt mean purposely set out to disobey, but just like trying to do things on his own and not the transitional play br talks about. I dunno where im going with this so ill shutup :)
Benny baller

I think its exactly the opposite. Gerrard doesn't look the player he was (accepted that age injury ect) and has giving the ball away, not getting into position and so on. This is a direct effect of BR's 'philosophy.' Its put the shackles on Gerrard.

BR also says that Gerrard, Agger and Luis have been outstanding for him. Luis I can agree with but not the other two. I think this translates more into Gerrard and Agger are 'behaving' and buying into his philosophy. You have to be blind not to see that Gerrard and Agger have not been playing to their potential this season.

BR has also come up with 'where there is hope there is a chance' or words to that effect. No sh*t Sherlock! That is what this club and the club's anthem has been about since day dot and the supporters don't need a sermon on hope.

What is required on the other hand is honesty and integrity and action, not words. BR has now put the blame of poor results solely on the players after showering them with words like 'outstanding' 'excellent' 'fantastic' after inconsistent performances early in the season. He has to in some small part accept his responsibility for the poor season so far and not now turn on the players when the pressure is on.

This is true of the coaching staff too. Looking at the dugout every match is very uninspiring and I cannot see how the players would look up to the boot-room staff for inspiration or motivation.

I know this post will get a lot of stick for not being supportive. I want to see LFC being successful and support the club no matter what, but sticking your head in the sand is also as, if not more, dangerous as unfounded criticism.

I hope we perform and get the result today but the real test will be carrying it on to a run of results and performances.

No places to hide now for the players or the manager and if the results are not good then FSG will need to impose their original plan and get a director of football in.

Would love to see something different today. wisdom rb. With Johnston right midfield . Also Morgan up front with Luis. I know it won't happen but what is happening isn't working so no harm in dreaming.
Good luck today boys. A win and br will say we've turned a corner and are not far front were we want to be . A loss and he may well be on his way out.

Hi Guys,

I am a Chelsea fan and was wondering what your opinions were on bringing Brendan Rodgers in the first place and that if any of you knew it wouldn't be great. Certainly with time he may be good for you guys but say he isn't would you take Benitez back?

Good luck for the rest of the season.

A11

I would have had benitez before rodgers anyway, and I still think he'd win more games than rodgers, even though his playing style is less attractive at times.

Would people prefer more wins, and a less attractive playing style though?

Pays your money and takes your choice, I guess.

With the budget he'll have at Chelsea they'll be a fearsome outfit, tbh.

Id have Rafa back in a flash, Chelsea dont deserve such a decent bloke and world class master tactician.

The abuse he got from chelsea supporters was diabolical, he is a decent guy.

Personally mate I think BR is a good manager, who probably may need some help as many are mentioning but I understand his plan and I see his vision. Again he's been left with a poor, squad bar 4-5 players with many being average at best. We have no depth in the squad and Joe Cole as good as he was hes not there anymore and we have to bring the likes of him to play. I believe it's going to take time but I believe in Rodgers 100%! Without a doubt.

At the time, I didn't want Kenny sacked, but let's be honest, there were non-footballing reasons for that and it's done. When he did go, I wanted us to drop around to Rafa's house on the Wirral and get him back. But the owners didn't go down that route. Beyond that, I'd say Rodgers probably was my favoured choice out of those seriously touted for the job (AVB, Martinez etc.). Guardiola, Biesla, Klopp etc. would've been nice, but they were never really on.

I'm not exactly sure what to think of Rodgers' performance so far. He's made some odd transfer decisions (not so much letting Carroll go, but wanting Dempsey, who is not a striker, to replace him) and team choices, but show me a manager who hasn't? The results have been poor, but what sets him apart from Hodgson for me is that he has a clear idea of what he wants the team to do and I think it's something that can work if given time. Certainly I don't think we're in a position where we need to terminate his employment and start AGAIN from square one.

Personally, I rate Benitez, always have and I didn't want him to leave. So yeah, I'd have him back, but this is far from a universal view among Liverpool fans.

- Something Red -

This job was always way too big for a novice like Rodgers and all the more experienced fans knew this.
The problem was the whole summer was a complete cock up from day 1.

Dalglish and Clarke should have stayed and the focus should have been on Kenny doing 1 more season and Clarke gradually taking the reins.

However, FSG messed up. They sacked Kenny without a replacement lined up.
They stupidly thought they could get someone better, I believe they even sounded out Klopp. It just shows how disconnected and moronic these guys are that they even thought that.
So they looked at managers who we could actually attract.
The best man for the job was Roberto Martinez. However, that got a negative reaction in the press so they offered it to the media darling Brendan Rodgers.
He turned it down, a wise decision.
So they went back to Martinez.
But Martinez didn't want a DoF so he pulled out.
So they went cap in hand to Brendan and caved into his demands for no DoF.

Hence they appointed Bren before he changed his mind.

All in all a complete cock up run by a bunch of jokers who know nothing about the sport in which they own one of it's most famous clubs.

The result is a club in crisis

Expect a hammering from us today lads. Just spoke to Stevie and he very confident. Told me whole team fired up. He saod they out to prove a point. Im going 3-0 just from what he said.
Dknt shoot the messenger

That not what he said to me....

Shouldn't they be fired up most games? Not like we're in a position to be complacent?

Oh here we go again.... You get your hopes up n then bang! QPR beat us..... No easy games in this league, please grow up and think about we're we are as a football club

anything less than a win at qpr today and it should be the end of the line for rodgers and co. People saying oh look at chelsea we're not chelsea we don't do that with managers. Well its about time we did.mr rodgers isn't in fear for his job but if he was anywhere else he would be. Chelsea demanded results and sacked managers until they got them and now their flying. We need to be ruthless if we want success. Put up or shut up rodgers im sick of your waffale and excuse's its time to sh*t or get off the pot. A draw or a loss today and we all should be demanding his head. He has brought nothing to the table thus far only letting go our only number 9 and replaced him with nobody. The clock is ticking brendan.

Everything perfect...untill u called mr. caroll our no.9...
if he truely was...we would have never been in such pathetic situation...
he is and will be the worst buy in our history...

Great support! What would you do instead? Deluded posters need to realise we are building a side that is currently top mid table at best. No manager would improve the team under the current structure any better than BR. I feel sorry for him, his rebuilding budget was blown by Kenny and FSG are holding the purse strings a lot tighter this time. If you don't like Brendan you are at liberty to express this view, but don't lay all of the problems at his door. Judge him this time next year

Worst post of the day.

I think this poster makes some valid points:

I too am sick of waffale.

My clock is also ticking, but only the one in the living room (my bedroom clock is digital - it just flashes)

sacking managers makes you fly - I am going to try this when I'm back at work tomorrow, it sounds fun.

We need more insightful posts like this. Thank you.

JohnBoy re, your reply last night. I didn't bring Taffitel into it to divide an rule or whatever it was you said, I highlighted your response to his post about being in the hotel with the team last night, because you came across as envious that somebody had genuine info about the team and the lad was just sharing what he knew and tried to defend us as supporters.

You then had a pop for no reason at me for posting the team and the last few being wrong, I post what I get told about the team news because I think some posters might like to know the team in advance.

If you care to check the very first team I posted I said that on occasions there may be a last minute change due to injury or a tactical change, which was why I had been reluctant to post it in the past as it leaves you open to criticism from d**k-heads ( if the cap fits JohnBoy ) itching to have a pop at you over it.

I'm not trying to make myself look I live next door to Rodgers or whatever, I used to get the team from the dad of a localish player whos currently on loan, I will let you work out who that is Sherlock, but as he is'nt there at the minute I get it from a mate who Knows somebody connected to the associated press.

So anything I do get in future I will keep it to friends and family as people like yourself obviously think i'm making it up, which is fare enough as you don't know me from Adam.

Same goes for you Welshboydave, I did notice your little dig to. Maybe it's because I live in the city that I get told stuff, there must be plenty of scousers who come on here who here the same stuff I do but don't post for the reasons i've stated above.

Ryan Shawcross is a 10m target for BR

30 Dec 2012 12:28:44
Dear god no. Kelly and Wisdom both are and will be far better players than Shawcross and both free.

Fit's the Rodgers bill perfectly.

A defender who plays with all the ball control of a drunken elephant on ice skates.

If we're after Shawcross then BR must be really ill. Why on earth would we want a donkey like that?

To all of the ed's,
I would like to thank you for all of your hard work on this site. I hope that you all had a great Christmas and will enjoy New Year. I suppose you will all be looking forward February and having a relaxing period. I have noticed that more trolls have been creeping on the site but these people are just pathetic and not worth responding to. The genuine posters on this site realise that you put time and effort onto the site through choice and that you do it through your collective passion for football. I remember when there was only the original site and to what it is now, is very impressive.
Keep up the excellent work.

If we get our forward this Jan, I'd hope that the following summer we keep our best players and if not get able replacements (touch wood it doesn't come to this).

I'd like for us to strengthen LB as Enrique is infinitely better at attacking and would be a much better LM or LW, I hope we get a top quality No.10 role playmaker, my personal favourite being Josip Ilicec as the guy doesn't have much pace but makes up for it in quality.
Love to see an able bodied DM if possible aswell as a understudy/partner to Lucas, while most have sights on Diame, Moussa Sissoko would be perfect as he can operate as a Toure, able to turn attack into defence in an instance. Plus, this could relieve Gerrard and Allen of defensive duties and allow them to attack in the final third.
Not even going to include or estimate prices as it just provides ammo for people to shoot you down and is also very complicated.

Just read in the new paper, the merseyside delusional, that Sneijder really wants to pick up the challenge of playing for a mid table team who's fans are still convinced their team is important enough to attract all the world class players it wants.

His agent is quoted as saying "my client is really looking forward to playing alongside and perhaps learning from such huge talents such as Henderson, downing and joe cole. He is relishing the opportunity to scrap for a Europa league spot this season while the clubs fans bury the head in the sand, or up each others hole, thinking we can still get fourth spot."

The report also goes on to mention other possible targets as messi and Ronaldo will join in the summer.

Eds

That's an Everton based newspaper; the incorrect grammar and weak attempt at humour are dead giveaways.
Continue reading it though, it looks like you've found your level.
Rigsby.

Er, when was the last time Goodison witnessed a trophy. Sad, but funny post I must admit.

Why do you assume these kind of posts come from everton or Man Utd fans?

I'm actually a Liverpool fan but the difference between me and some of the people on here is I'm not delusional.

Liverpool are no longer the team they once were and the fact people still think we are is mind boggling. It has been over TWENTY years since a league was won. That's an entire generation of supporters that have never seen their heroes win the coveted title.

The whole point of this post was to remind people of that fact. I await the usual points that I'm not a "true supporter" because I am capable of looking at things with perspective.

By the way my name is Irishkopite, I wrote the original post also but I hit the post button before I could finish it and it just do happened it made it look like I was posting under the name "Eds" lol

30 Dec 2012 12:57:22
I've travelled round the world in the last couple of years. Europe, South America and Asia and regardless what people think wherever you go Liverpool, along with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United are still considered one of the biggest clubs in the world and are still thought of very highly.
In the next 18 months Liverpool with the young players they've got and with a few additions will be right back up there and could be for many many years to come.
The 3 players you mentioned, two of which probably won't be there very soon, are not exactly our best that could be mentioned. If you said you could play along side Gerrard, Agger, Lucas, Skrtel, Reina, Suarez, Sturridge (when he signs) plus others and with the young players coming through thats a spine of a team that matches anyone in the premier league in my opinion. Liverpool, with a few additions, are not as far away as some would have you believe.

So thanks for your attempt at comedy but I cant help think that some like you try to knock Liverpool down when you can now because you know that we, soon will be a force again and people fear that and thats why theres been this bashing of Liverpool whilst we've been in our 'blip'.

Ashy

OK fella we believe you (Cough).

It mentioned Merseyside newspaper; could be a Tranmere one, I suppose.
I'm not delusional either and it is strange and a cliche that fans of other clubs say that we all are.
I know we won't get both Messi and Ronaldo. I'm sure we can afford only one of them, ha ha.
Rigsby.

Ashy again I'll point to the fact I'm a Liverpool fan and I'll also point out I'm of the generation that has supported Liverpool for the last 20 years and have yet to see us win a title despite all the false dawns.

I'm not knocking the team, I'm knocking the people on here who think Liverpool have a Devine right to have the best players in the world, like sneijder, the fact is he wont go to Liverpool as much as I'd personally love him to.

Congrats on your world travels, I went to Edinburgh this year on a stags. How do ye like them apples?!

The english premier teams put money in and buy a solution for all the problems. Look at Atletico (they have lost diego, salvio )and are better this year spending only a million of euros). You won the Champions League with a mediocre team honestly( incredible). But with a manager that get the best of the players . Brendan should do the same. You have no bad team this year is about making them play well. You make good points max, however mediocre team in 2005? Gerrard at his best, Alonso, Hamman, Carra at his best, Baros, Hypia, we had a decent team! And we had a manager that was tactically astute.
Now we have Joe Allen. Point (passes to the side to the back to the side never a telling pass)

30 Dec 2012 11:00:13
Mr Rodgers but judging by the way you manage that team then Suarez is as good as gone. We all know by now that your record so far is as bad as Hodgson and worse than Dalglish, but the nail in the coffin for me is our current defensive frailty. This time last year Liverpool had the best defensive record in the PL, now we're not even in the top ten in terms of goals conceded. Apart from the occasional injury there have been no changes of personnel in goal or in defence so only the tactics they are being forced to play have changed. It's one thing to test a playing style to see if it works but it's sheer lunacy to continue with it when a defence that was solid suddenly starts leaking goals galore. I'll cite the Villa result a couple of weeks ago, losing 3-1 at Anfield to a team that let in fifteen goals without reply in the next three games. Change the record Brendan.
RED BLOOD

Rogers him self said when he got the job, this team is better then 8 possession in league. What happen to that?

Couple of weeks ago we were going to finish in the top 2.

What happened to that?

Answer: Rodgers believes his own hype, but the players know better.

Puzzled, I did not insult thatcher in of herself although I admit to having no time for her particularly after her involvement in the subsequent hillsborough cover up the recent reprt & recent interviews with emergency services & police officers who claimed they were coerced into changing statements further support this, the original point I was trying to make was that while kenny made mistakes under his last tenure as manager as all people make mistakes I think the level of viciousness was disproportionate, I will always remember what kenny did & how he conducted himself during that time, he is & will always be one of us, thatcher was disposed from inside her own party orchestrated by members of her own cabinent Michael heseltine states in his autobiography that cabinent had come to the conclusion she was despotic out of control & had a complete disregard for people & public opinion, ultimately that was the consequence of her actions, I do not recall insulting or calling you a clown, puzzled but if it came across like that I apologise, as that was not my intention, enjoy the game today & the same to all reds y.n.w.a jft96

The more I think about it the more I think sturidge is going to be a great signing. I don't think he is going to smash in a guaranteed 20+ goals every year, take on defences single handedly or score wonder goals every game. But played up front with Suarez and either borini or sterling then our front line looks a completely different animal to what it has been up to now. Suarez has looked so isolated at times, he takes on the world because nobody is there to take on defenders with him. (sterling has the pace to beat defenders but he's still very much a raw talent) sturridge has pace, strength, height and will cause defenders problems, this can only help Suarez in that he will not have the whole defence focusing on him. Suarez, borini and sterling will have so much more space and find more gaps to exploit, all 3 will thrive from this. Even if an opposition defence does focus everything on suarez we will at least have a proper striker/winger who will make a difference in sturidge.
My conclusion is that he might not be this world class talent that everyone craves but he does improve the squad a great deal and he will allow our other forwards to shine.
He has always looked to me like he is a striker that can go on a scoring spree at any time like what we saw at Bolton.
A few extra goals couldn't hurt us, could it?

MIKEY

When ye letting them in at the other end willy nilly it will

I think Sturridge will bang 'em for for fun mate.Really optimistic about this, and no i'm not being sarcastic.

As for today let's show Q.P.R what Liverpool F.C are made of. I have a feeling that we will thump them tonight. 1-5 the scoreline. sterling to score against his former employers, suarez to grab 2, jonjo and stevie to put the icing on the cake. mackie with a consolation for them.

Cheers!!

YNWA

Daniel sturridge-bang em in for fun, ive heard it all now.

If Sturridge gets a hat-trick every game at least we might start drawing a few.

Sterling is bang 'im in for fun, surely?
AK21

Let's be fair mate when he was at Bolton he did bang them in for fun.
So he does at least have it in him.
He will also be playing with Suarez at Liverpool and most opposition defenders find him the worst to play against. That gives sturidge plenty of opportunity to take advantage of the space and confusion Suarez causes.
Could be a very decent bit of business so let's not write him off before he has even had his new shirt fitted.

I posted yesterday about people on here and twitter saying give BR 3 seasons then judge and people saying that they would be happy with 8th!! I spend alot of money suporting my club since i was 5 i have been in the kop and i can assure u not one person there would be happy with 8th not a chance! I am a fan of BR and his philosphy but we do not have the players 2 bring that philosphy 2 life and what has shocked me the most is that the whole world and his wife knows we need a proven goal scorrer but BR spent what money he had on allen another mid and borini who is not a out and out striker and was allways going 2 need time now for me the only difference between us sitting 8 points off 7th and TOT who are sitting 3rd is a no9 what on earth was he thinking not buying one its crazy!and now it seems we are in for two more players who cut inside in sturidge and ince and yes they will improve are squad but there not the answer in regards 2 a striker if we do not buy a no9 in this window questions will need 2 be asked! King kenny

I have said ir before if I had money I would go for isco nd benat or isco for sure..he is one player who will lit up premiership nd liverpool..he has all ingredients of what we require. .his ability to unlock defence is all we missing as we are playing good football with unable to do anything in final third..watch out for him...
Harry Oldbury

If you go to matches and you honestly believe the only difference between us and Spurs is a number 9 then you need to go to Specsavers.

They are better than us all over the pitch but crucially off the pitch.

AVB is streets ahead of Rodgers, that's why AVB turned us down in the summer

30 Dec 2012 10:50:01
I find BR comments about Suarez and his fellow players showing a more winning mentality to aid Suarez reasoning to stay with the reds a little demeaning.

Suarez has every reason to turn around at the end of the season and hand in a transfer request, and to be honest you can't blame him.

FSG talk the talk as does BR with regards Suarez but have shown very little support towards building a team around Suarez. Suarez is the best player at Liverpool by far and FSG know this and yet they are prepared to pull the strings of BR and show no sign of improving the squad with players of equal calibre of Suarez.

Come the end of January FSG will have added Sturridge and maybe one or two promising youngsters to our squad and that will be that. This is a sign of things to come, we keep hearing the same old spin from BR that its a long term fix or a long road back to where we once where, with this in mind would anyone honestly like Suarez want to hang around and wait...... NO CHANCE...

Come the summer Suarez will definatley leave FSG will sanction the sale of somewhere around 40 million. We will have another year without champions league football to look forward to and with Suarez gone and a 33yr old captain coming to the end of his career all of a sudden the once great club of ours is going to be at its weakest in 40 years.

This January will be a turning point for the owners it will either break Liverpool for years to come or they open up the purse strings and get some top notch players in to support Suarez or risk losing him in the summer.

BR has already said that he ain't spending much in Jan with this in mind I really fear for our club over the next year. We cannot keep living in the past, we are no longer a top 4 team. If FSG are in it for the long haul then they have to invest now before its too late.

Fagin

At least one supporter isn't totally blind to the real situation!

Like chickens we are constantly being feed corn however is it because the farmer actually takes pride in our welfare or is he simply fattening us up?

Two things fagin, did Luis Suarez not recently say that he hopes to play for Liverpool for years to come?

Secondly, Gerrard will be no loss, he has hardly been a pillar of strength for the past 3 years now has he? Personally, I dont think Gerrard is willing to change his game to suit what BR wants to do here. I dont think he suits the gameplan at all.

You heard it here first! The future of LFC rests in the outcome of this January transfer window....

I would love to see all of you moaners do as well as rodgers in his first six months! Not amazing but! To get suso and sterling on new contracts with madrid and citieh sniffing around both! To get Agger and Skrtel on new contracts with at the moment better clubs sniffing around! Suarez on a new deal! We are at the moment not good enough to bring in top quality but Sturridge is proven at every level as is Allen! We are 2 losses away from nearing the top four! A penalty here a missed oppotunity there and we would be up there with a small squad and half of them babies! Give him a chance! Give the team a chance! Support your Club and everything about it! Liverpool Football Club wasnt built in a Day!

Nice post but this is a fan's forum site and everyone is entitled to their opinion, and every fan has the right to comment on the team, good or bad.
BR will not have negotiated the contracts, that will have been done higher up. We have not beaten sides above us in the league so do you really see us in a top 4 ? Not likely.
G

Liverpool Football Club was already built. It was and still is one of the biggest football clubs in the world. After all the ifs and buts we are still sitting in 10th and are not improving at all. The players are average. BR is turning us into Swansea. Look who is next to us in the league. We are bigger than that. He's out of his depth.

"Not amazing"?

Is that how you'd describe Roy Hodgson's Liverpool career?

I prefer "dreadful"

They was signed by higher up but they would not of signed if they did not have the belief in what is happening at the club right the way through!

Morning Eds and all LFC fans,

If we win today (I know these If's are very big) we'll atleast gain some ground on West Brom and Stoke who both dropped points yesterday, Everton will possible drop points today too against Chelsea, so that's something I guess. I know, I know not much but in times like these we have to look at the positives no matter how small and support our team as best we can.

Best of luck today Rodgers and lads

I posted yesterday about people on here and twitter saying give BR 3 seasons then judge and people saying that they would be happy with 8th!! I spend alot of money suporting my club since i was 5 i have been in the kop and i can assure u not one person there would be happy with 8th not a chance! I am a fan of BR and his philosphy but we do not have the players 2 bring that philosphy 2 life and what has shocked me the most is that the whole world and his wife knows we need a proven goal scorrer but BR spent what money he had on allen another mid

To think you spend your good hard earned money on supporting the club and then have the temerity and audacity to come on here and question the direction the club may or may not take ...like most blinkered and hoodwinked fans who get on here i'd be overjoyed with finishing 8th for the next three seasons if it meant we indulged in, pandered and satisfied the man's ego, whilst also abiding by Fair Play rules and keeping the wage bill to an absolute minimum ...roll on mediocrity!

With all the effort they have made to drop wages at the club it is unlikely they'll bring someone in that will be on double or treble what most of the other players are on. Don't see it happening

G

30 Dec 2012 11:46:21
If u would be overjoyed with 8th then u really are not all there what a disgrace 8th overjoyed REALLY!do tell us how often u spend your hard earned money going 2 games i suspect u sit in your arm chair because if u did spend your pennys u would not be overjoyed with 8th we are LFC i wonder what shankly would make of fans being satisfied with 8th there is one thing being realistic but it is quite another being happy with 8th unbelievable!! Y do people here say allen needs rest??
is he from different league?, championship team...
he came from a team who plays same as us week in and week out...
If he remained at swansea...he would have played the same game...

Y does our fans defend wen someone is actually crap??

harry

Wow because swansea didn't play europa league or mount a reasonalble cup run. He also didn't play in the olympic team last year either.

Just read Maca s posting saying lets get behind BR andsupport our team . Although i do agree with most of his points and i do fully support BR and the team , his point about us not having forwards to score goals and win all those draws , well we all know it was FSG s fault for not bringing in another striker or attacking player to help out suarez , who may well leave us waiting for our team to move forward .
Michu cost swansea around 2 million , why did we not snap him up ? what was our scouting dept doing ? he had a fantastic scoring record and was a snip . last summers transfer debacle raises for me worrying isues with FSG , we could have snapped up another cheap young striker instead of trying to sign dempsey , FSG do need to prove to the fans they are committed to invest enough money into the club to move us forward .
All our fans are pretty football savy and we do realise that we dont have the funds that city or chelsea have at their disposal , but not investing enough now to compete somewhat , and get us back into the top 4 , will surley not help us keep our existing sponcers and keep our world wide fan base
FSG is not LFC , they are the current owners , and have made mistakes , i do appreciate what they have done all the same , but i do feel these next few transfer windows if used well could move our club forward to our goal of top 4 !
I do fully support BR and all his backroom changes will start to bear fruit i hope ,
YNWA

FSG did invest under KDs era hoping to push us back into champions league/top 4. Unfortunately, it didn't work (basically new players didn't perform to there value except for Suarez). So it's very unlikely they will repeat that mistake again. I think the most important thing now is to get the improvements to the stadium sorted & we will just have to get on with finishing mid table for the foreseeable future. Larger stadium will improve revenues, which will in turn allow us to offer higher salaries, which in turn will enable us to start attracting top players & best staff. My biggest disappointment at the moment is our scouting team are totally unable to find a bargain/next star player & haven't done for years! Were's the next Hyppia, alonso, Gerrard, etc. I think it's here we have fallen short (in addition to lack of focus from all our owners on improving our stadium size). It will come right with the right management at all levels....not sure we are fully there yet.

Too Much of complaining going on here like kids throwing tantrums whole day.

What are we supporters? when our team is losing 1nil 2nil why cant scream and still motivate our team even when they losing, cause when they lose and they still know we are screaming our lungs out for them week in week out that will do something to them give them more fight more passion they will work harder for you. We can motivate them more. If at some point Fsg feel Rogers is not up to it they will do something about it, for now just trust them and back our manager and players. We need to be beast of supporters like a real army of supporters like the older generations of supporters.

I am realy looking forward to daniel sturridge playing for us, He is greedy loves to shoot has great pace and is arrogant self confident believes in his ability our team lacks confidence he is exactly what we need he will click well with suares and am sure he will go stright into the 1st team hope we use him as a centre forward and push suares to the left which is his best position on the left just of the main striker.

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE

Well said mate. there are too many supporters getting on the managers back and it was shocking what happened to Shelvey on twitter, for f**k sake hes only 20.

Is strurridge eligible for Sunderland match {Ed002's Note - Sturridge will be available once the FA has processed the transfer paperwork submitted by the clubs and obtained international clearance.}

30 Dec 2012 05:29:13
To all those who thinks the wesley sneijder rumors are true, no this is not happening ..rodgers would only want players who were either a chelsea, swansea or watford academy reject or 20 million players who potentially could be the next "Someone" and he has prior work experience with them..
Sneijder has too much quality and doesn't fit either criteria so BR won't obviously move for him..

So, like Tom Ince, Jack Butland, Oussama Assaidi, Jeffren Suarez and Samed Yesil then?

Sneijder will take 200k a week for a year and a half and retire. Waste of money.

My roundup on LFC now and what i personally like, want and dislike.

1) Give Rodgers more time for sure. I wish people would realise getting rid of managers often rarely does any good and i like the way Rodgers is actually addressing problems we have and means to run the club in the his own way in terms of how we play

2) Stop the hate of our young players...all players for that matter. Some have been a let down but some comments are harsh to say the least

3) Rafa was not god and personally i feel while we got some great results under him we also did sign, and pay a lot for some average players. Remember a certain player we paid shed loads for with long term injury? Who we couldnt get rid of for love nor money!
He did and could attract quality players and for a long while he also had good money to spend too. Anyway, personally thankful to him but would not want to have him back

4)As for transfers, just would love to see a descent striker and someone who will run at defenses.....

5) Really pointless post i realise! Sorry
Thanks Eds for all

Gareth

Good post lad
LAD72

Rafa not god, have a look at his records

Everything can be taken into consideration....
rafa not good..cant attract players to the club??
either i am drunk...or you are in a dream....wake up mate...

Good post, BR will be here until the summer, but would you give him another season if we finish outside the top 6 ?
Rafa was good, not god.
KK was god and I still believe that we'd be in the top 4 this season had he stayed.
G

He said he did and could attract good players. Read it properly before you make yourself look stupid.

30 Dec 2012 12:01:25
Rodgers addressing the problem. He is the problem fool.

Rafa= champions league, la ligax2, f.a cup, uefa cup. rodgers= the sack twice, and a play off final win- definatly the man to turn liverpool round, i think not.

Prick Parry bought Aquilani not Rafa! Parry also bought Keane! {Ed001's Note - no he did not. Absolute lies. Parry bought no one without Rafa's say so. He scuppered numerous deals that Rafa wanted, but never once bought a player without the nod from Rafa. Rafa wanted Keane, it is idiocy to suggest otherwise when Rafa has said so himself on multiple occasions.}

For the guy calling me a fool...dont be a knob. Its my opinion only and said it was pointless thread in many ways. However, i would suggest the fools are supporters like you living in the past and slating everything about is now...until of course we start winning things and you can shout from the rooftops YNWA

the most successful team in the league are united, the only reason they are where they are is due to fergie. it took him two seasons to get anywhere when he started, now im not saying BR is gunna be the next fergie but he needs time and at least a couple of transfer windows to build a team for himself.

The most SUCCESSFUL are Liverpool, but Utd are catching up

Exactly as above I want I need a league title, champion league football to be feared again at home but it ain't gonna happen overnight give him time give FSG time there's no Arab billionaire out there and let's face it do we want one ?.

Reusch.

Re: Sneijder reumour.

Just what we need. Another centre midfielder.

Is our new formation 1-8-1?

Lol
he wont come for sure...but if he did forget not needing another centre midfielder...with him the team would be so much stronger. Gerrard and Lucas finally getting to play next to a true world class player in the centre again like they did with Alonso

Gareth

In reality BR could play his system with 6 midfield players in our starting 11, look how much more chances we make, its not his fault our players cant hit the back of the net.

Macca, I have read your comments with interest. It would be great if we all felt we were in this together but sadly we r not. FSG never communicate anything to the fans. All quiet again on the stadium front and they never turn up at Anfield. We have Ian Ayre in charge who is too inexperienced and is on his own and a young inexperienced manager. We r also hearing of plenty of rumours saying FSG want to sell up.

If LFC had strong leadership at the club with presence the atmosphere with fans would be a lot better.

WHAT IS GOING on?

The only thing I can see is that ownership under Moores was a lot better

What is there to communicate? What would you like them to say? That they support the manager. If they said that everyone would say he is under pressure.

Ownership under Moores and Parry was better than we have now, you are seriously having a laugh - Liverpools current decline began in earnest when Peter Robinson left, and Moores and Parry took over the running of the club. They never capitalised on the commercial appeal of LFC.

Well said, there's no trust on FSG and BR, there's no experience. Fsg Took big big gambel on BR, I thought last season we were close to top 4, if we did not have that suarez Evra problem we wold have been up there, all we needed was a proven striker, but now we are far far away from top 4, and looks that suarez is going, we are very worried fans

Good luck to the lads for tomorrow as I fear the response of people on here should we not win.
Excellent post from Macca earlier on all issues he raised. The point about who'd replace Rodgers is one that makes me smile every time I visit the site. Benitez seems a popular choice among many along with Borrell. After watching our youth teams under the management of Borrell over the last few years, I'd be happy should he ever become manager, however points have been raised about Rodgers lack of experience as a manger and as Borrell has even less, the calls for his appointment baffle me.

Regardless of that, let's get behind the team, manager and owners. Fingers crossed for 3 points tomorrow.

Happy New Year to all.

Hans

Steve Clarke seems to be doing alright for West brom. They cant believe we let him go

Kopping a feel

If we get beat by qpr the manager and players will need to look at themselves and give their wages to charity

There is no way that if Butland does come in that he can do any worse than Pepe is at the moment. Jones must be p***ed that he got dropped as soon as Reina regained his fitness, he really needs to pick up some form and fast.

Reina looks a bit fat to me these days.

All I know. Is a better manager can do better with this squad he keeps saying aren't good enough.he is just a joke, since he knows this is a result business why does he keep forcing a style of play that the team struggles with and he claims he doesn't have the right players..then f****ing do what all good managers do. Use the tactics that suit this team right now

And pls stop with the crap talk of rodgers system.WTF is that he is a nobody what system did the joke of a coach invent

^ Tippy Tappy football! I'm not pro Rodger's but every time he has been asked about the squad he admit's it's a bit thin but he always laud's his group of player's saying they have exceptional talent! I've never seen a interview where he slate's "his group"

All i know is that you don't really like Buck but there's no need for your show of petulance against him! Tippy Tappy sound's like a dance hall dance!

That's the first anonymous critic I've seen on here for nearly 3 minutes. Funny how worried posters are about leaving a name when they post pointless negativity

Is it true that Real Madrid have set a 6.5 milion price tag for Sahin? If so, we've GOT to get him, cannot buy a better player for that price. {Ed002's Note - No.}

Have you seen Sahin play this season?

He can't get a game ahead of Shelvey

To the second poster, why would sahin get a game ahead of Shelvey? Shelvey and Sahin play in 2 different positions. Shelvey is an attacking mid, Sahin is a deep lying playmaker. Sahin has already expressed his feelings about being played out of his best position.

BrisbaneLFC

Sabin is a quality is just need same time, we all know class is permanent and form is tempory.

When you think about it how much money have we wasted since fsg took over hazard Mata and Oscar cost 80 m and carrol downing and Henderson cost 71m I know that the Chelsea players are on a lot more than Liverpool players I am not saying we should have signed hazard Mata and Oscar but if you compare how much difference the Chelsea players have made. Compared to the Liverpool players if you was fast ask yourself this knowing this would you give a manager 30-40million to spend.
LFC Liam

Hazard wanted to go to Chelsea, sure we weren't even in his thoughts so how can you sign players who don't want to play for you.
Les

I meant fsg not fast stupid auto correct on android.
LFC Liam

Exactly. what is the point of people constantly saying how we should have purchased this player and that when most of the mentioned would not have joined our club due to lack of champions league anyhow?

Oscar...not likley. Hazard...the glory boy, obviously not.
gareth

30 Dec 2012 06:27:37
Until very recently, Mata has been on less wages than Carroll and similar wages like Henderson and Downing. 60k/wk. Oscar is on less wages than Joe Cole, etc. Hazard was a case of competition frm the two Manchester clubs.

Hazard is not the player we all think he is, just hype.

Surely Torres, Carroll and Downing transfer fees show that you have to be smarter in the market rather than throw money at it.
Put simply we wasted £50 million on a player who is now on loan with 1 goal to his name and on a player who has just scored his first premier league goal and set up his first league assist 2 years after we signed him!!
Our scouting system looks good at say 14yrs old to 18yrs old but in terms of finding talent in other countries for the first team right now then our scouts have been rubbish for years.
hopefully this will change under Rodgers.
jonybarnes89-90 {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has made significant changes in the organisation of the scouting side of the game already. It is not anything to do with Rodgers.}

Hate to say it but he is not just hype. In two years and if they buy the strikers they are being linked with, Chelsea will have the best attack in the league, possibly the world.

Hi Eds
Benitez recently disnt rule out a move back to Liverpool, if fsg approached him do u think he'd move back I think his heart says Liverpool but his brain says Chelsea {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has a manager right now, so perhaps the focus should be on supporting him.}

Focus on supporting our Manager, the way Chelsea are supporting theirs, Yeah right! maybe we could just swap {Ed002's Note - I really don't understand what it has to do with Chelsea. Do you realise how embarrassing it looks when I suggest you should give support to the Liverpool manager and all you can do is bring up another club. Should I go back and delete Macca's post about giving Rodgers support as well?}

30 Dec 2012 00:18:29
Have it from a reliable source of swap deal on cards between Us and Chelski, Abramovich for FSG, the latter having a buy out clause of £350 million ;))

30 Dec 2012 00:17:04
Tomorrows game is a must win, I can't lie though, I'm not all the confident!

It's a strange situation at the moment, I know we have the ability to beat most teams, but I haven't got any sort of confidence that we will!

QPR should be 3 points but it depends what Liverpool turn up! QPR are fighting for survival now, I feel that out players have resigned themselves for a mid table finish!

We all know that we are thin on the ground for senior players but really the players that were on the pitch against Aston villa and stoke were all international players!

In guess with youth comes a little arrogance, if we turn up arrogant tomorrow it's only gonna end up in a loss!

Come on Lads! Show the spirit that Shankly built!
