Posted a few days ago reference Mourinho DOF at Anfield (Alonso and Higuain to Join). Suarez staying and Rodgers at the managers helm. This is happening - no return to Chelski. Asked for source - contact at FSG and transfer targets will be secured early as Jose will add the glamour and belief that champions leauge football is only 17 months away.

On a personal note I would hope that an additional left back is line up.

I'll have some of whatever u are smoking

What a crock. have you been smoking something?

So the 'i will return to where i'm loved' quote seemed to slip by you then!

Alonso and Mourinho fell out when there was an argument with the players recently (I think Ramos maybe eds can confirm this?). if your going to post bulls*** at least look up the facts first

Mourinho doesn't get on with the majority of the spanish player especially ramos and casillas.

Good god they have too much time in the mental house

Is there any interest in Catania's Bellusci if he doesn't agree a new contract? (obviously an eye on LFC interest from me)
ForzaRed {Ed002's Note - From Liverpool, no.}

You had me excited there. I always get Musacchio and Bellusci mixed up.

Really? I rate Bellusci higher. but then I've only seen the odd match with Musacchio playing. [FR]

can honestly see suarez leaving us this summer great player but brought the club more bad press than he's worth got everyone hating us. let's use money to get lescott carraghers replacement, get andy caroll back, cabaye in when magpies get relagated along with krul as peps days are numbered. it will be hardest season next year as there will be no europa league and will find it hard to entice players in. also what's happened to sterling

Don't be daft; they hate us anyway, or at least the ones conditioned by the MUrdock media do anyway. Who cares - Suarez may be an overenthusiastic nutjob, but he's OUR overenthusiastic nutjob, and that's what matters.
If there is one thing we really need, it's a greater fan ownership and influence within the club. If shares were £10, £100, £1000, how many of us would buy into the club and put our money where are mouths are. Could only be good for the club with less of the feeling that we're just consumers now, not fans.

They may not like us. But, you can't deny the respect they have/had for us.

Lescott, Carraghers replacement? An old, very wage expensive sub standard player who used to captain Everton?

Andy Carroll - still spending half the year out injured and would be ineffective in a system that the rest of the squad work well in.

Cabaye has been awful all year. Ask any Newcastle fan - he's been dreadful.

Pepe's days are numbered - according to. ? He's said several times that he's very happy here and it's very questionable that any big club will actually want him. Plus, those are two of the biggest players from a team that you think will be relegated. They can't be that effective - 2 players don't make a team, but two players good enough for where we want to be should provide more solidity than they have.

Sterling has been injured for about 2 months and may not play until next season

Fan ownership of LFC will never happen.

eds and reds just have a couple of questions that i'd like answered if any one can help.

ince v zaha

ince zaha
43 games 41 games
18 goals 6 goals
14 assists 10 assistsa

united paid something like 15 million for zaha.

so why are we not willing to pay the 6-7 million asking price for a extremely talented kid who I think would add so much to our side? if we had him I would let raheem go onloan to the championship to hone his skills much like ince has done to huge effect.

why did zaha win the championship player of the season if so many others were scoring and creating more goals? is it cause he is fergi's new project.

thanks

I want to see Ince back at the club, much better player than downing already.

For 10-13m we would probably get gaitan mertens or even munian!

That 8m from January was spent on coutinho! Priceless he is now!

In the case of players of this age, they won't be signed on past performances. They'll be signed on what they'll be able to do in the years to come. As far as potential goes, i'd have either.

6-7 million? His dad, the manager, wants 25 million and we all know what a **** Owen Oysten is when it comes to transfer negotiations.

Thank you Yoda

How is Sahin eligible for Dortmund in the CL when he played Europa league for us? Can someone please explain how andsome players get cup tied and other don't? {Ed002's Note - THis has beendone to death in the past - but Liverpool were knocked out and they can add a player.}

30 Apr 2013 20:53:10
The two players I've heard we want in defence are Alderweireld and Ilori. No idea whether interest in Pearce is true but I doubt it as Kelly and Skrtel will be given chances at centre back in pre season.

30 Apr 2013 20:29:18
We haven't got Champions League or even Europa League money (minimal, but better than nothing) coming next season. Therefore I see plenty of logic in aquiring Alex Pearce for free and selling Coates, whose bound to be on a higher wage and would command a fee. Surely as a 3rd/4th choice centre half, he's not a bad option? The money made/saved can be used elsewhere more intelligently to strengthen the first team.

Papa G

Coates on a higher wage? He came from a Uruguayan team mate. Very doubtful he's even on 10k

BthekingB

If we sell Coates, a player that has hardly made an appearance this season, the best thing to do is promote a youth player.
Kelly, Wisdom and Sama all want a spot as a first team centre back.
Buying Pearce would block our academy players future into the first team.

Best thing to do is bite the bullet and learn do not hang on to players who will not make it for lfc i. e coates

I love promoting youth, but not on this occasion. Kelly/Wisdom also back up Johnson, which you need to consider. Kelly is extremely injury prone and thus quite unreliable, so Pearce makes sense. Sama isn't ready in my eyes.

Papa G

Im guessing that if Pearce does come maybe in the place of Coates thst Rodgers thinks that the reserve players (Sama and the like) are not ready to step up. I don't think it will affect Kelly or Wisdom.

Oh how I would love us to sign ozil. Not so much higuain, everytime I have seen him play he has been veryy wasteful, clumsy and appears to lack pace.

Anonymous woolback

In my opinion, I watch Madrid every weekend, he hasn't been the same since he was out with that back injury for an extended period of time a few years ago.

Get him to the Chiro

30 Apr 2013 19:52:56
I don't believe some fans are moaning because we are being linked with Alex Pearce. He would be an excellent free signing for us. We will need to replace 3 Centre backs in the summer and Pearce will give us steel against the long ball merchants. He excelled in the championship and was reading fans player of the season. This yr he has been frozen out because he won't commit his future to the club. I think he will be loved by the fans, because he plays like a warrior and will throw himself in front of anything.

Pearce is a Championship player at best.

Skrtel was our player of the season last season but apparently he is not good enough. He is miles better than pearce!

Red Lee

First, he will have to get in front of anything, which he won't because he is just about as slow as Coates.

The real AG

What are you talking about! All Pearce will do is block a chance for sama and jones to breakthrough!

Sama and Wisdom will be good players, but centre halves take quite a bit longer to reach maturity and consistency. 24yrs old, perfect! intelligent defender? yes!
Honestly. watching the player is better than reading his clubs current stats. The guy is a very level headed player, with a strong partner in defence he'd be fine. There's plenty of time for the young lads like Sama. Let them take their time, a centre halves job is a dead set nightmare for younger players. They'll handle it for a few matches, then fall in a heap. Some never quite recover.
Kelly is my next choice, but he needs competition and backup. Why not Pearce?
I doubt the stories are even true, but he's a good player none-the-less. Regardless of where he plays now. We're looking for a partner for Agger, who played for what is relatively, a two-bit club, compared to the premier league elite and he's been great.

Like I said. There's probably nothing in it. But they lad might surprise you one day.

Another br type transfer good in his mind like allen but not as good in the team.

Good argument, mate.
Another BR transfer like Sturridge or Coutinho you mean?

30 Apr 2013 19:15:08
Regards the reading player, I always love a lower league player for defence. Always tend to concentrate on trying to get better. some of our best defenders have been relative unknowns!
Redjay

Alex Pearce may turn out to be the next Hypia? Some are too quick to write players off, Carra was ripped to bits in his early days by some reds, but was and still is a brilliant defender, organiser and leader. Something some off our other defenders can only dream of achieving. Rogers does seem to have the ability to get players to up their game, Downing and Henderson are examples.

EVO YNWA

All of our best defenders have come to us as relative unknowns. Some have left as legends. One is still playing.
Centre halves are nothing like Coutinho and co. They take time to learn to play in England. If Pearce came, he'd take time, But not as much as some.

Just a Question out Of Curiosity which Page is the Busiest? i'd Assume the Liverpool 1 would be up there. Also Do you Know which Players Will be Off Playing at the Confederations Cup This Summer? Cheers Lads. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool and it is too early to say right now.}

30 Apr 2013 18:23:29
Was it just me or there was something in borini's eyes telling that he will be the one to watch out next season?
He was back from injury earlier than expected and that's the sort of attitude players must have (honest hard workers).
Wonder how good carroll would have been if he had similar attitude to work hard but he was more worried about drinks and bars. So our best option will be to sell such a player rather than have a lethargic player on our books.
thoughts. ?
LIVERBIRD

It was just u mate he's not good enough
Chris the REDman

The goal clearly meant everything to him, he has played only 11 Premier League games and is young in his 1st team career.

I look forward to him supporting Suarez and Sturridge next season.

Why are you having a go at Carroll's attitude? He has always tried hard to do well on the pitch, and I like to see that in our players. Can we stop this stereotype of him please?

The cap fits Carroll

30 Apr 2013 23:13:42
@chris
fair enough. but such players work hard on the pitch to be successful. I m sure borini is a good runner off the ball and will close defenders down really well enforcing mistakes and reads game very well and he's 22 ( I think ).
what better example for mu point than kuyt worked hard, rarely missed a game, brilliant attitude, scoring vital goals etc.

30 Apr 2013 23:15:13
@piledriver
IMHO carroll has never had a good attitude, all he did was:
chase shadows
fouling defenders while closing down and then moaning to ref
missed so many good chances
not even good header rarely hit the target
and even his scoring record is not good for a guy brought in to finish chances
Although u can argue he wasnt provided good service but still I will pick borini over him anyday.
forgot to sign my previous post
LIVERBIRD

If Borini strings some matches together, not out wide! he'll make a lot of people eat their words. The kids hunger is amazing and it'd be stupid to say he's not talented.

Kuyt was a much better player than Borini.

Can't see Borini doing anything at LFC, he is massively out of his depth in the Premier League

01 May 2013 13:11:38
if you are going to slate a player atleast sign the post so when he comes good next year we can poke fun at you. Borini will be a force next season, I guarentee he will score again before this seasons out. the season he was supposedly set to miss through injury.

I'd actually say the chances of him making it at Liverpool are slim! Slim.

30 Apr 2013 16:47:38
And lot of players are being linked to the club, but it's the club that are spoon feeding these names to the press, to divert attention from our real targets. the club have to be clever and smart with regards to our potential targets, to stop the price being inflated or other club's beating us the target. Expect 2-3 players of significant quality to arrive, but none will be the eriksen, or Williams or any other players were constantly being linked with. You will be pleasantly surprised by who we sign.

Aha - the old smokescreen returns!

I tend to agree, IMO apart from Allen (in starting 11 for his previous club), Brendon and his team have "mainly" targeted young fringe players, who are waiting for, needding an opportunity to prove themselves, (this also gets players full commitment LFC for the chance)Cant see that changing this transfer window. Building for the future, and as we all hope, it starts next season.

Tilwud.

Bloody nora, Its a bit early for smokescreens.
Well done Sherlock, you have now told the press about our real targets Messi and Ronaldo.

Roy

HA! Haven't heard a smoke-screen rumour for a while.
Classic Liverpool-rumours. co. uk that.
Used to be a staple on here, what happened?
Really, though. come on.

30 Apr 2013 16:22:04
Was at milk cup draw today and know Brendan and his family well from back in the day. Got chatting and while I would never breach his confidence all I can say is from what he said expect a massive change at LFC this year.

Massive change at Liverpool.
Or.
Massive change for Rodgers?

Blade of Grass.

Sounds exciting!

Damn, I thought everything was going to stay the same!
I never expected any change.

Right, the idea that Rodgers would give out sensitive information to random fans he bumps into is fanciful.
It would be counter productive and probably breech of contract.

Could not be a more obscure post, meaning this is clearly rubbish

30 Apr 2013 17:51:24
hi eds, this year we have made many wrong things in defence and golkeeping. we left out from europe league for carrager mistake, out from cup for jones, we lost too much point for skrtel and reina at the begining. we cost many goals from corners and free kicks. agger and caragger lost their ariel ability. and this cost us too much. we have dominated almost every match but not in top for. any team could not get full control of the match with us. but we suffered much for defence. I like to see agger as david luiz situation. DM will be the best option for him. and he will be the lucas best partner. and I am too sure about this. two good CM of great ariel ability wil make our team fantastic. toby alderweild, dejan lovren both good in air and ataking minded. mobidio diakite and kelly as back up. if the no new winger, no new AM, no new RW, still can be in top four. just build our defence strong. then try to improve our ataking lacks. still believe arsenal and spurs are not strong than us. believe me, we will be CL challenger next year or two.

There is a chance with alderwiereld now that spurs are looking else where, they think he is too slow? Mind you vertonghan has told him he would be stupid to join Liverpool!!

The trusty no named post.

And what does vertonghan know oh yes he plays for a spurs team having their best season for years but remind me what have they won

Spurs had a better season last year.

is there any chance of mesut ozil realmadrid playmaker coming to Liverpool for about 30m

Of course there is, he's bored with Champions League football

30 Apr 2013 14:49:43
Hi ed's did Liverpool insert a sell on clause in thomas ince's contract and if so what %. {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any details but it has been suggested that Liverpool could benefit from a sale.}

30 Apr 2013 16:17:05
If Suarez goes we should sign

RW/LW/CF; Jose Callejon for £15million

and also

LW/AM/RW; Nico Gaitan for around £17million

Callejon will cost about 7-10m.

Gaitan will cost 10-15m.

Why do people post how much players will cost? Where do you pick the prices from. You do not know how much a player will cost unless stated by the club!

No you assess a player to see if you are getting value for money.

For example was it wise to spend 35m on a young unproven striker! No! This is an important part if the game these days. On the other hand coutinho at 8m was a real bargain and if on the market now would at least double that tag.

It will be better if we replace Suarez and Carroll with Benteke or Jackson Martinez and James Rodriguez.

FIFA13 is probably their price guide.

30 Apr 2013 15:58:02
As I see it Suarez will stay if the owners show a lot of intent maybe one big name won't even be enough. First if all Xabi Alonso; the midfield metronome and European cup and World Cup winner is as big name and sensible signing as you can get. £15 million tops for 4 more years - bargain. Secondly Pedro Rodriguez of Barcelona, this lad doesn't get enough game time but he can break down defences and suits our style £25-30 million should be enough to tempt Barca and give the, some cash for their 'rebuilding process' although it might not be his ideal move with all the Spanish speaking players we have and once he is ushered out I'm sure he'd be more than willing to join! That's £40 million spent realistically and atleast £10 million in from the sales in the summer.

So you want to fork over 30 million to help Barcelona with their rebuild do you?

Pedro? Alonso for 4 years, starting next season? He might not want to play for that much longer.

Pedro? 30m?

30 Apr 2013 15:57:28
Simple vote take away M O T D FEVER and answer this who would you rather
Carroll or Benteke any why Carroll is already a Liverpool player and probably better in my opinion

Benteke - very similar players, but for me, Benteke is more mobile than Carroll.

30 Apr 2013 17:51:53
I don't want us to sign Benteke, but I think he suits our style of play more than Carroll, so Benteke if I had to choose between the two of them

We already have 3 talented, versatile strikers. Their names are Suarez, Sturridge & Borini and all have their best years in front of them.

Kidder the spoil sport its a banter page I only asked because everyone is screaming for Benteke on and off this year so I think he is only as good as our Andy

Carroll is a thing of the past move on with out him.

Neither, keep the money.

Neither Carroll nor Benteke are good enough. I would want to see Benteke and the likes of Michu repeat their seasons again before I would consider bringing them here. Remember the Carroll hype? A good 3 months for Newcastle and look how that turned out for us!

30 Apr 2013 15:42:55
Ed001, you how we usually build our team around a single person (Owen, Torres, Suarez). Do you think that has always been our drawback (?). I know it is a very hard question to answer but would be very happy to get an opinion on this matter

KrishnaYNWA {Ed001's Note - very much so. It worked when Liddell was the man we based it on, but football has changed and become so much more professional that it is very difficult to win that way any more. It places so much pressure on one player, that it can only ever be short term, even Messi can't carry Barca to every trophy. You only have to have a team that believes in each other on the pitch, that cares more about the team winning than them scoring. If that means Suarez has to stop dribbling past 5 players and whacking it from a tight angle, when he could beat 2 and then lay it off to a man in a better position to slide it home, then that is what he should do. Same as Sturridge on a hat trick needs to learn to make sure the team scores, rather than putting his desire for a 3rd goal in the match first. One player that I have to say has shown a real example, on that front, is Gerrard. At one time he would have hit anything that he was running onto within 30 yards of the goal. This season he is mixing it up, looking for lay offs sometimes, other times hitting it, and another time going for a one two, etc, and it has caused defences real problems.}

Thanks, ed.
Common sense should no longer be called common sense. You're one of the only people on here still exercising it.

30 Apr 2013 15:36:05
Afternoon All,

I have followed Liverpool all my life, I can't say as a supporter as I only get to games once or twice a season and whilst I contribute financially to the club when I am there I think follower is a better discription.

My son, now 12 has followed Liverpool since he was 7, we have been to Anfield a few times and he is just blown away everytime we go there.

Yesterday he asked me about the news that Liverpool could sell the naming rights - and that Anfield will be called something different.

I explained that money was the biggest driver in football right now and that it could help us buy new players - but what got me was that he was really dissapointed that anyone would even think of renaming Anfield, and I mean really dissapointed.

Now I know that it may or may not have Anfield in the title, and I also know that you probably did this topic yesterday but it got me thinking.

If he feels like that, given he has only been to the place 4 times what does it feel like for people that go every week for years and years.

My boy summed it up " Dad, I would rather they leave it as Anfield and we keep playing Stewart Downing, than rename it and buy another player" . brilliant.

Guessing you're leaving out the complexities of how much Downing cost till he's a bit older then? :P

It doesn't bother me at all, it will always be Anfield to me, and I am happy with anything that will help the club progress.
JFT96
Smithy

But after that comment you should have asked him would he not like to win trophies

Sometimes kids know best, should we really sell our soul to get us the trophies and titles, even if we become a dubai play thing like man city?, Our consumerist culture has convinced most adults that its a good trade off.
Personally I want Anfields official name to always be Anfield, we can leave the never ending advertising and branding to those insane americans.

Remember that absolute screamer of a goal you scored in '78 when we humped spurs 7-0 at Anfield!

To be honest mate, I'm torn as well between the nostalgia and history that the name Anfield evokes and what every little thing we need to do to get back to the top in a game that has seen so much change over the last number of decades. It'll be like losing a limb if the name changes, but you just have to get on with it.

It's people like you that cost Liverpool! I'm not old enough to remember the glory days but Liverpool didn't change with the times. Man united embraced the commercial side of the game and made history by winning titles. Liverpool decided they couldn't embrace it as they have a proud history. Nonsense! It's time to catch up! FSG are moving us into the 21st century off the pitch so hopefully that will translate on the pitch sooner rather than later.

Lfc have had more money handed to them over the last few years than ever before but they waste it now fsg have realised this and with time and good business plan fsg will make it let's give them the support they deserve. may be next year we will do the unexpected. red mick tag

Last poster: which was the first club ( in the world) to have shirt sponsors?

Yes it was LFC, and that was whilst we were at the top of the game in Europe and domestically. So less if the being left behind and slagging other fans thanks.

For me it a question of motivation. The motive is to increase revenue so we can compete at the top of the game financially. But look at the spending stats, we do that anyway without selling Anfield's naming rights and where has our spending got us? Not even in the top 4 for the last 4 season!

If selling the rights could guarantee us success then go ahead, but it doesn't guarantee squat and once you sell the rights there is no going back.

I vote : no deal

You're right, mate.
Kids do know best. I support the club, not the trophies. Yes, I want trophies, of course. But, not at the expense of our soul.
Happy to do it the hard way!

How many people actually call St James' Park the Sports Direct Arena?

Anfield will always be Anfield and any name change that provides improved revenue, publicity and sponsorship to the club should be seen as a positive!

Jordo

The victory against newcastle means nothing if we don't win the derby

Actually, I think we still get the goal difference and 3 points either way

30 Apr 2013 14:56:20
Just want to hear few opinions sturridge didn't celebrate against chelsea even though they treated him badly with was a nice sign of respect by him but does anyone think torres would celebrate against us? (Not that he'll ever score against us lol haha )

He should have celebrated more so with it being at the kop end

Torres is just thankful to score whoever it's against!

Don't care if he never celebrates, just keep scoring.

Can we predict what Torres would do in a hypothetical (and very unlikely) situation? No

30 Apr 2013 13:20:01
Afternoon eds, Could Neven Subotic be a target? would be good alongside Agger? or would he not want to come to LFC/be too expensive?

Alves {Ed001's Note - the issue is whether he would want to leave a club on the up, to move to one that could potentially be on the up. From what I have seen, he does look a very good option for our back line, though he wouldn't be the affordable option. I would think, all in all, he is not likely to be interested in us and we would be looking for a defender that is not going to be quite so expensive to acquire.}

The thing is though ed Dortmund are a selling club and probably won't last at the top. If Liverpool break into the top 4 with FSG they will stay there.

The hot topic of the day - I wanna know if Waro used to wear those 19" flares back in the day?
The Juicer

In fact thinking back, they were more like about 25". All the mancs and Leeds fans flapping around in them things, with the ends trailing around soggy on the road.
Own up Waro!
The Juicer

The juicer
the trousers you refer too where called parallels they wernt flairs as such, and if you had a high button waist (at least 4 buttons)they were the dogs danglies, in the 70ies they where the only things to wear along with skinner jeans of course
trev the gooner

30 Apr 2013 20:22:24
Semi flares they were called juicer, and sadly I had a pair. Sergio tacchini and fila trackys and a benetton rugby style top. Good god, why did you bring the clobba up the juicer, we looked fookin awful, ha ha.

Waro

30 Apr 2013 23:17:38
I was just thinking of you saying about The Stone Roses, Waro. I didn't mind the music, but I couldn't get away with the clothes of that time. I can't really remember that many Liverpool fans wearing them daft flares. I may be wrong. Are you old enough to remember the Maccano tops that you could only get in Liverpool? Over 60 quid a pop in the mid 80's as well. You could tell a Lpool or Everton fan anywhere in the country wearing one of them.
The Juicer

I think it was a 3 star jumper half way up his back but hey waro you are a red so best wishes as we stick together.

30 Apr 2013 13:57:55
So rumours are rife that Alex Pearce is being lined up to replace carra. I thought the manager said he was trying to get quality rather than quantity in. Pearce is never going to replace carra, as he's simply not good enough. Big year for the club and next season, we need quality players not 2nd rate players.

Totally agree. It is worrying we seem to rooting round the bargain bin again. Who's going to replace Suarez if he leaves? Andriy Voronin to return. FFS!

After seemingly missing out on sneijder many thought coutinho to be a 2nd class reject. look how well that worked out.
believe in BR
LIVERBIRD

Ashley Williams came from Stockport; Luis Enrique played in the Championship with Newcastle. Most of us thought Carragher was dead and buried until February this year! What makes Alex Pearce second rate? If he's coming for free, and can improve, why not, especially in terms of improving squad depth?

Mate. we also need good squad players

We have too many squad players we buy quality and the ones like downing allen turn into squad players he's simply implying what the manager has said

30 Apr 2013 13:55:31
hey eds
I was wondering whether there is any interest or posibility fo the reds to sign QPR Attacking Midfielder Adel Taarbt, I think he fits the profile for a Liverpool player perfectly right now he's young and on amazing form by far QPR's best player and with QPR probably getting relegated he's definately on the move I heard clubs like newcastle and marsille are also interested

I wouldn have tarBRAT if qpr were giving him away fro free, lazy, over hyped, can't cut it in the prem!

Taarabt is worse than Voronin. and that's a compliment!

On amazing form? Are you serious? He was booed off the field against Reading, was the worst player out there and has been poor for ages!

Terribly over-hyped, terrible player, terrible attitude.

01 May 2013 01:53:05
Boot toom blarney - yes I agree, harry sick of him drifts in and out of matches, lazy and a sulker i'd rather have remy who I think was best of the new bunch rangers got in.

Adel has already agreed a deal with AC Milan

Sunday has the potential to be a great match. Really hoping we keep up with the siege mentality and start the match with real power. As much as we all slag Everton off, I do actually quite like players such as Baines, Pienaar etc who have really helped Everton this season. I'm just hoping for a clean, good derby where the football does the talking. With our goal scoring ability, and hopefully Coutinho operating in the same position as at the weekend, we could really bridge the gap, and considering we should have had 3 points last time, it would be great to get the 3 just to show we beat them both times, whether the table says we did or not!

Yes this should be a great match considering we were missing Stephen peanuts our wing wizard last time that is a big plus for us this time around and the fact Suarez won't be playing. Moyes will make sure there is somebody marking Coutinho there is no way he will get the room he got when playing Newcastle, plus our right side is fast and pacey too, I think it will be a close match but we will nick it by a goal. It has being too long since we won at your ground just think this year we end that run. Stef the blue

Some call him liability, some call him selfish. and for rest he is never a team player and wants to sell him.
but only if we recieve 40 mill + or some popular and good players in exchange.

how is that possible?

If the guy is a liability, if he is slefish, and if he is never a team player. why on earth does the other big clubs wants him?.
whatever. he would give us enough cash before he is been forced out from here.

Is it just me gutted Carragher, Redknapp, Thommo and Souness are all working for Sly Tv? They are owned by the same man who owns the S*n. Murdoch is a disgrace to mankind. Buying Sly Tv and the S*n is one thing, but working for them is a whole new level. I will always love Carragher, but I thought he had more respect for the 96 than that. Could you imagine Kenny sat on Soccer Sundays Panel? Jesus, he wouldn't even speak to the reporters! Say what you like, but Kenny hated the media for a reason, and the uneducated called him a crazy old man. Maybe if you'd been to 96 funerals you'd be of a different opinion. I understand if this is not a topic you wish to raise Eds, just interested to know if anybody else is slightly dissapointed :/

YNWA! (Adam)

Maybe a pro Liverpool guy like Carra on sky wouldn't be such a bad thing as long as he sticks up for us

Seconded!

I thought the same thing. that's the reason I don't have sky tv. but perhaps money is more important to some people, espically those you already have loads. I don't think the justice for the 96 would be happy I have lost respect for jc.

chrissy

I think you are reading too much into it. Murdoch is a business man, not someone who was ever actually in charge of his organisation. He is so far removed from the committing of the crimes of the S*n that you might as well be blaming the delivery truck drivers and the girl who made the tea. The diversity of opinion in his papers show that he did not actually exercise close control over them. Is it a shame that he controls the bulk of sporting news in the country? Of course, he might be removed but his hands still aren't clean because he earnt money from it. But to accuse someone of not having respect for the 96 because they work for him, when working for him is the only option for lasting success in a new field, is something that I find a bit shocking. Murdoch earn't money from the guy who blamed Liverpool for the deaths. He wasn't the guy doing the blaming, and most importantly he was not the guy actually responsible or one of the people involved in the inside track of the cover-up.

As to our current media treatment at times - we need to start helping ourselves a little bit, and maybe once we do that the presence of people like Carragher delivering the news might lend us a bias for the news to concentrate just on our football? Either way, I find the views you've expressed slightly harsh for my taste

I realise this is an imotive issue but I think it's a bit harsh to label Carra like this - I'm sure he does have respect for the 96 it's not that straight forward surely?

You make the point that it's one thing to pay for Sly/Sun but another to work for them - why exactly is that?

I'd bet many Pool fans pay the Sly subscription because it's the best way to watch your team and football in general. Well, for ex players like Carra - Sly is one of the best places to go to become a pundit on good money, so why is it so different?

Just opening it for discussion really, as an outsider. Just think it's easy to have ideals but harder to stick by them in reality when it comes to making a living.

Totally agree, Souness was vilified for taking murdochs silver, in my opinion Carragher is worse, he's from bootle ffs should know better - how much money does anyone need?
Gary m

You guys slagging Carra are full of cacka. Yes we avoid the Sun, yes Murdoch is the owner, but how is Carra working for him disrespecting what has happened or thinking less. I don't like Murdoch or his company but what the hell are you guys smoking. You come on here moaning about the 'conspiracies' of us being last on match of the day, or the associated press being in cohorts bringing us down, Taggart and his media cronies etc etc etc. Now we have an opportunity for someone like Neville, like him or loathe him, who shoots from the hip and says what he feels and you brand him as some sort of traitor.
SHAME ON YOU.
No wonder Ed002 is pissed of with us lot. you can't see the wood for the trees. Isn't the best result for us having 'OUR' an on the inside, changing opinions and putting our case across to the masses the best we can do. Can you seriously see carra sat there while Lawro or any other a$$ hole slags us off? I cant. Grow up and start looking at the bigger picture as you buffons are really pisssing a lot of people off. shocking

I wasn't suggesting he has no respect, and HB in particular argued a good point with regards to it being his best career option. I merely wouldn't have expected this of Carragher. I was more gutted because he is more closely tied to the city than the other two. I know Murdoch is far removed, but not once did he apologise for what his papers printed. Or sack those responsible. I was merely trying to raise a discussion, particularly with those from Liverpool.

G. Sourness.
P. Aysteran (spelling).
R. Benitez.
J. Redknapp.
R. Fowler.
S. Mcmanaman.
D. Hamman.
P. Thompson.

To name a small few have all regularly worked on Sky and you mention Carragher?? Come on lad, like someone said above its the next step in some footballers careers.

Suarez-Ex players not me!-saying as important (and quality wise) to Lfc as Dalglish. (who could handle himself, though ADMITTEDLY NOT as Suarez Does-wrongly!)
Now you can slag me all you like-I don't CARE!-BUT I would RATHER listen to Ex Players then a lot on here. And I happen (unlike a lot-I go regular to games!) to agree with them. With Caveat!-THIS MUST BE LAST"Serious!"offence. And Serious-I don't mean-bad tackle/handbags etc. As great players DO get provoked. I mean on level that has just passed!-Dont get too many Suarez players in todaysvgam

A lot of my friends seem to think that Liverpool's time, in the top half of the league, is gradually coming to an end. I personally believe that we are nothing more than a sleeping giant of the sport and we will be back in contention for the league within the next two years. if we can sort out our defensive issues, we will be a force to be reckoned with. we have ripped most teams apart this season, and if we were a little more clinical in front of goal we could have been up in the top 4 by now no problem. getting beaten by teams we really shouldn't be getting beat by (eg. west brom), drawing matches when we should have won (eg. arsenal and man city). we know what problems we have, so when they are addressed, I believe we will be up there in the top 4, this time next year. that may be a cliche for most Liverpool fans, but we are on the right track. I believe BR is the man who can do it for us. his tiki taka brand of football may not be to everyone's taste, but there is no denying that it has, on most occasions, done the job. if the team can perfect the technique, there won't be too many teams who will give us much competition. 1st season, 7th/6th (if were lucky) isn't too bad. its something to build on. we will be fine.

remember the 96 YNWA!

His tiki taka brand
==================

I am not having a pop at BR, I have no strong opinion on him one way or another, but we do not play tika taka, we play pass and move the way KK played last year, and if you look at the Newcastle game, 3 of the goals were route one which was effective and nothing wrong with that.

Roy

Agreed man.

Alfie

This is very true Roy. You think that Rodgers invented the wheel and before his arrival we played football in the air. I will admit that the defenders and keeper see more of the ball these days.

30 Apr 2013 11:32:18
hi eds, I am preety sure suarez will leave us. I love Liverpool very much and suarez too. but probllem is that three big clubs outside england need a 35+ rated stiker. real, bayern and bercelona. I think bayern will not sell gomez to their champion league or cup challenger. look at bayern history they did not sell their good players to their to same class team. but gomez place is in threat and he needs regular place. they deny lewondiski or suarez bid because they want to know the recovering condition of gomez. at least 6 games are in hand and they will start these match with gomez. I think gomez will pick the form soon and they keep him. but they can sell manduzic. ask me why?gomaz is dealy in final box and next year goetze play behind him and same case for germany national team. if they bid for suarez there will be players (robben, contento, tymoauk, gustavo, mandukic etc)+cash offer. I personally think gustavo+a stiker from bayern, tello+sanchez cash from bercellona, alonso+coentro+cash from real, any of them can be acceptable. what do u think eds?

30 Apr 2013 12:38:23
dude one question.
y are we selling him? Is that coz. he waste lots of chance and he is slefish and he is not a team player.
If so. why does barca or real or bayern want such a player?

Why are we selling him? Probably because he causes a lot of controversy. I love they guy but how many issues like this can we handle? One a season? No. You're looking beyond the obvious.

Harry, is that you?

HB

Can't be harry he has retired to greener pastures

How true are the rumours of Alex Pearce's imminent move to Anfield. can anyone tell me if he's any good, and why hasn't he been playing for reading.

30 Apr 2013 11:19:50
I hope they are NOT true at all.
He might be good! But no way in hell near Liverpool Quality! I would rather keep Coates then! If this is even true then BR has lost it (if this is the quality he talks about)! We don't need numbers! We need QUALITY NOT QUANTITY. Alex pearce is no way even better than what Andre Wisdom or Martin Kelly are now! He doesn't play for reading because he obviously isn't good enough! But you will read its because of the contract situation which is the biggest pile of rubbish on the planet! A team fighting relegation can't afford to bench their "best" defender for not signing a new deal.

Anonym {Ed001's Note - you don't know the Reading owner if you think that!}

Not good enough.

His situation is a bit like Llorente at Bilbao, but on a much lower profile obviously. He wants a move, but if he's not in future plans, why build a team with him in. McDermott felt he could bring in better players in his position (Mariappa), but they were leaking goals left and right and so he's been forced to play him at times. He's done well when called upon, but its very difficult to tell as that Reading team in general is playing so poor. One game against Man City he played very well, that's all I can remember. If he wasn't on a free and small wages I doubt we'd be interested. It's a low-risk transfer and he might turn out alright. If he applies himself he could be an important player, though I fear the player is just 'getting a move' and then settling for that. He won't be the only defender arriving and that's 100%. RC

Im not sure if he is good as I haven't seen him play, bit the reason he's not playing is because he won't sign a new contract.

30 Apr 2013 12:18:21
He's a die hard, tough defender. Rodgers himself made him captain of Reading when he was 21/22 years old. He has been likened to John Terry many times. He's on a free transfer as his contract runs out this summer. The reason he isn't playing, is because he was dropped by the club after refusing to sign a new deal. Its a very childish stuation. He is a good defender and would be a great back up option to keep the other defenders on their toes. I personally don't see him reaching John Terrys level, but he could easily be as good as say, Jagielka or Cahill.

YNWA! (Adam)

Some fans are difficult to understand. When we bought Coates, everyone was raving about him being a full international and best defender of the Copa America tournament blah blah blah! He couldn't even displace a 35-year old from the first team! Why do we need a player with hype? He's free for goodness sake, and he's low risk. He's worked with Brendan before, and understands Brendan's philosophy. If he signs, he'll know he's getting a big chance to prove himself, and having been a club captain before, he must have an ounce of leadership in him! We are always after finished articles, but there was a time Ashley Williams played for Stockport for goodness sakes! If our budget is limited, shouldn't we get bargain buys like these with low wages, add one more CB as back up, and then improve other areas of the team that desperately needs improvement? This is how we lost out on Michu. We paid 15 million for Joe Allen (not that he's a terribly bad player), and his replacement at Swansea (De Guzman) has scored almost 10 goals and won a cap in the Dutch national team! Just get real friends!

Look at how people talk about Assaidi - he was cheap low risk and some people still treat his name like muck. Low risk as a transfer is fine but if he balls up and key moments, that is risk.

And De Guzan is on loan and doesn't have much longer left on his home teams contract. We have no idea how much he'd cost. Oh, and Michu was the highest scoring midfielder in La Liga last year - hardly going for a player with something to prove, the miracle is that no-one else went for him

30 Apr 2013 10:44:49
So carra has signed to sky, no hope of him playing on next season then. what a player he has been for us over the years, nothing epitomises his never say die attitude more than the famous night in Istanbul. The guy has been a loyal servant throughout his career to the club, putting his body on the line time and time again for the cause. his leadership skills will be sorely missed, and whoever comes in to replace him will have huge boots to fill. I'd like to see the club make him captin for our final game of the season, and we as fans can say goodbye to a Liverpool legend.

Yeah carragher will be missed but it's the right decision to retire at end of the season, we need to look to the future now!

After the match two weeks ago against Chelsea I honestly taught Jamie C would have stuck around push Luiz very passionate against torres gutted he signed with sky :' (
Wish you the best don't be afraid to come back next year to be a coach!

30 Apr 2013 09:29:06
hello eds just a quick question

how many players do you think brendan wants to sign? we all know we will need at least 1 defender andother midfield playmaker and an attacker, do you forsee him needing 5-6 players or do you think he will just target 3 that will improve the squad {Ed002's Note - Much will depend on who leaves.}

30 Apr 2013 11:00:17
2 CB (Alberto Botia)+ (Thiago Ilori) or (Carlos Zambrano)
1 AMC (Dennis Praet)
1 LW (Balazs Dzsudzsak)

Maybe a GK if Brad Jones is sold

(Alex McCarthy) or (Guillermo Ochoa)

If Suarez leaves expect 2 more signings. 1 ST and 1 RW.

So Macca was right again about Carra joining Sky, I for one look forward to hearing his tactical analysis (hope he`s better than Neville!)

Just to clarify, I think Gary Neville is an excellent pundit, and his Synopsis of the latest Suarez incident was spot on. I just hope our Jamie is better!

30 Apr 2013 10:11:23
I think Neville is a great pundit. And I have never disliked a footballer half as much as I disliked him.

Carra thankyou and good Luck :)

I'd also like to say that Gary Neville is probably the best pundit at this moment in time, by a long way. Always fair and always speaks the truth.

Dan. {Ed001's Note - he says what the producers tell him to say, just like when my uncle was a pundit for the BBC during their jaunt to Brazil to play in the Club World Cup instead of the FA Cup. He was forced to say how he wanted United to win, how we should all get behind them etc etc, none of those things he believed!}

So the producers told him to stand up for suarez Ok ed001 {Ed001's Note - they want to establish him as a balancing act for all the current ones, who are all very biased. They needed a fresh face to step in and provide something different and Neville was happy to do it. It establishes his rep as being fair for his England career and is an excellent step for him. You are clearly completely clueless of anything that happens, I bet you think those idiots on talkshhh actually believe what they say and phone up and rant at them like they want.}

Macca was spot on again with Carra set to join the Sky Team

Sad to see him move on great servant to the club, brought a whole new meaning to putting your body on the line in Istanbul!

YNWA
IAN

Was your Uncle ever a pundit anywhere else Ed001? Can conceivably see a situation with the tv where they had to toe the 'support England' line, whereas somewhere like Sky might be a bit more free.

If that isn't the case though, I'd love to hear why the producers give the pundits such utter twoddle to say {Ed001's Note - Sly are a lot less free, that was the main reason Gray and Keys were given the push, they were saying what they wanted, not what Sly wanted them to say. You don't get freedom of expression under Murdoch, you toe the line or he gets you out.}

Rubbish Ed, Neville says his opinion {Ed001's Note - it is not rubbish. Presenters on TV are not employed to give their own opinions, if you think they are, then you are too stupid to waste my time talking to.}

ED01- you are spot on mate. not many employers allow their staff to view their own opinion freely, especially in the media. it makes sense and am glad to hear your opinion. did wonder why Neville had such a change of heart towards Liverpool FSG C. Nim

30 Apr 2013 08:27:28
Just read tv that carra will join them for next season. So I guess that puts an end to him playing on.
Thanks for everything JC

30 Apr 2013 09:45:38
Yep, thanks Carra, you will missed! I hoped he would sign a year extension but he knows best! LEGEND

Goodbye to one of the most over rated players ever to wear the Red
Spend your filthy Murdoch lucre wisely

30 Apr 2013 08:16:17
Hi Macca
do you have any info on who Liverpool have scouted the most and who we look most likely to sign
Welshman

30 Apr 2013 07:03:22
I think we should sell Suarez for £75 million, or swap him wiv Cristiuno Ronalo from Real Madrib? He looks like a yung talent. What you tink Eds?

I don't think C Ronaldo is Liverpool quality. If this is the type of player Rodgers is looking at then god help us
Roy

30 Apr 2013 05:59:14
Hey eds. not just mod fever, but what do you think of benteke? Not going to ask if he's coming tons because assuming villa stay up they'll want silly money for the lad with him still being young and recently joining

30 Apr 2013 03:30:19
Eds,
Do you believe that Liverpool has enough interest to bid on:
-Christian Eriksen
-Erik Lamela
-Aubameyang
-Hueng-Min Son
-Henrikh Mkhitaryan
-Eduardo Salvio
or
-Tom Ince
to bid on them in the summer? I believe we need 2 of these types of players in the summer to help our forwards and attacking midfielders amongst obvious defensive help.
Thanks for the site,
-Jordan {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

I think Liverpool will look to solve the back line more than the attacking options? The chance of alderwiereld joining have grown massively now that spurs are showing interest elsewhere. (Too slow for their style apparently?) although if vertonghan keeps poking his nose in telling him he's better off at ajax! Then who knose (sorry) BUT he is an option!
