OMG when Alex OC kicked that ball Koshelny is on the goal line offside when it hits his elbow and goes in. liners had a shocker.

Believable7 Unbelievable4

02 Oct 2016 23:21:23
Close up on MOTD just about shows that it was Koscielny who kicked it, not Chamberlain. Still a blatant handball though, Burnley so unlucky.

03 Oct 2016 14:57:13
The ref should have blown fro handball but he may have thought it was going in anyway hence, I can see why he didn`t call it as handball.

Anyone feeling negative about yesterday remember Liverpool won, United drew, city lost that's a great weekend. Believe.

Danny Ings hat trick for the u23s today. Delighted for him.

Believable20 Unbelievable10

02 Oct 2016 17:23:16
Keep this up and Klopp won't be able to ignore him, he's far too good for that level. He's one of those players you want to succeed to his attitude and incredible work rate.

02 Oct 2016 21:54:37
He's a battler alright.

Klopp knows what he is like.

He's coming back from a long injury.

Thats great thing about Klopp and the size of the squad where as before our striker would have been rushed back and probably injured again.

We have a balanced squad at long last.

02 Oct 2016 22:53:54
Some may disagree, but I sincerely think Ings and Origi are our two stand out forwards. Ings given the chance has the potential to be world class in my opinion. I really hope to see more of him soon, no doubt we will. Origi is still learning but I certainly believe he's one for the future.

Thing is, we're doing great, why change things? which i'm sure a lot of people will think. let's not risk anything kind of thing, but nah I really want to see Ings, if he's given a chance he'll go for it because he'll want to continue to be given a chance. hopefully soon we will see more of the lad.

03 Oct 2016 07:33:09
I like ings a lot but I sincerely doubt he'll ever be in the world class bracket.

He's a grafter and decent player. Not down on him in the slightest.

Plus, sturridge is quite clearly our best striker. He's finding his way back from injury and not getting a run of games to find his feet. He has the best goals to game ratio of any striker in history. Just to throw a few names out there - fowler, Rush, Owen, torres and Suarez.

03 Oct 2016 08:22:41
I can't disagree with that 87red.

The only reason I didn't mention Sturridge is because of his injury record. Don't get me wrong I know players can have a rough unlucky time but ever since he was banging them in left right and center with Suarez he's not been the same since then. I'd love to see that Sturridge again but I sincerely don't think we will.

I think his time at Liverpool is coming to an end personally but what do I know? I know nothing, just my thoughts :) .

Fingers crossed I'm wrong because I really like the lad and he deserves his chance to prove what he's capable of once again.

03 Oct 2016 08:54:05
I think all three have their strengths and weaknesses -

I like Ings, and while I agree he's unlikely to be world class, he's probably the best option as a Firmino like CF ie. a high energy player with good defensive contribution, lots of clever movement, linking play and scoring goals. I think at some point he'll be used away from home where we need to rest Firmino.

Sturridge is probably our best striker still, and capable of incredible skill, but probably not the hardest worker in defense, and can go missing if things not going our way (although lately shown more appetite in this regard) . I still think he's going to see most game time when we're at home and expected to have a lot of possession.

Origi is probably the most allround striker with strength, pace and does the defensive duties well, but still very green and learning his trade. He's going to do well for us this season, but has the potential to dominate in 2-3yrs time.

I really like our strike options and really feel like we have the ability to pick different players depending on what we need.

03 Oct 2016 09:18:13
Spot on Zimbo, that's the main thing, the choice of players we have it quite impressive!

02 Oct 2016 15:47:06
Ed001 if you get a moment could you share your opinion on Bravo at city? The reason I post on this page is cause from what I have watched he seems to have worse distribution than Migs. Do you think it's a confidence issue or pressure or just a poor buy? I don't rate Hart in fairness but Bravo doesn't seem like a step up.

Believable2 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - he is just struggling to adapt, he is normally very good with his feet. In Spanish football you don't get put under the same pressure as a keeper, so it is a major culture shock for him. De Gea struggled with the same issue early on. The only question is whether he is too old to be able to adapt now.}

02 Oct 2016 16:03:10
Completely agree with De Gea, but wasn't his issue with his strength? I don't feel that Bravo is going to adapt myself, he looks defeated already. As a side, hope the move went well and Spain is treating you well.

02 Oct 2016 16:18:19
It doesn't help that because of the deal been made of the situation, that he is getting put under increased pressure from players and fans. Every time he gets the ball, the whole opposing croud taunt him, which raises his nerves and helps the closing down player. Any mistake or long ball would be met with jeers.

02 Oct 2016 16:19:25
I personally can't see him adapting here, though I do think it's a little to early to judge.

02 Oct 2016 18:01:40
He is on the verge of World Class in which position? Do you mean as the most centre of the 3 strikers/ attacker? He will probably never score at the same rate as Suarez/ Neymar/ CRon/ Messi. his game is not really about that. But if he is getting on for 1 goal every 2 games, he is right up there in world football as a attacker.

03 Oct 2016 06:08:37
Im not so sure iconicred, i still think he's better off in goal.

03 Oct 2016 09:17:39
EPl is just too fast for him?

03 Oct 2016 15:01:13
Ed if it`s a culture shock for him, isn`t it then Pep`s job to protect him by not asking him to do the whole passing thing from the back at least for right now because heavens, they guy looks a bag of nerves with the ball at his feet and the fans on his back whenever the pressure is on?

{Ed001's Note - I would say the manager needs to help him somehow, but maybe he just wants to let him play through it.}

02 Oct 2016 15:19:23
Ed one

If I remember rightly you once said you would have preffered us to sign son instead of firmino, was that based on what would be best under Rodgers tenure or did you assume that son would adapt better to English football, also are you glad we didn't now.

cheers mate.

Believable1 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - price. They are both quality but Son was much much cheaper. I love both players, but I wouldn't swap them now.}

02 Oct 2016 15:27:03
oh yeah forgot price haha, yea I wouldn't even swap suarez for firmino now. would you put him in the world class bracket ed or do you think he is close. cheers.

{Ed001's Note - he is certainly on the verge of world class, his touch and workrate are without doubt world class. He has excellent vision but sometimes his passing and finishing lets him down.}

02 Oct 2016 15:34:53
thanks for the reply's ed, yea if he could finish like suarez he would be unplayable.

cheers ed.

{Ed001's Note - at least he doesn't spend a third of every season out suspended. I really like Firmino.}

02 Oct 2016 15:41:17
looks like you was right again ed, city's first real test and pep has no answer and has over complicated things, and his team taking a real hammering.

{Ed001's Note - I think a lot of people were expecting this to be fair. His teams have always struggled to cope with teams pressing them. Celtic did the same thing midweek.}

02 Oct 2016 16:12:17
Son does look some player though ed. Credit to you mate.

{Ed001's Note - he stood out a mile at the Asian Nation Champs. Not just because he does some lovely things to watch, but because he almost always had an end product. Everyone was raving about Omar Abdulrahman, who does have silky skills, but it is all flashy tricks with little to no end product, while Son created chances and his tricks made a difference rather than just looked good.}

02 Oct 2016 16:22:32
God help them when we press them then. At the minute we're better then celtic and spurs put together, both teams got a result for going for it, they probably never expected it because of their good start, he's getting figured out already, Liverpool will show them how its done.

02 Oct 2016 17:07:33
watched the stoke game today and Shaqiri is the definition "of flashy tricks with little to no end product". Both their wingers were awfull and bony looked off it. Manu are going to get a rude awakening when we play them.

02 Oct 2016 20:05:05
Is this story about Son having to go back to Korea for military service in the near future true Ed?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate sorry.}

02 Oct 2016 19:38:49
Liverpoolfc16, we will see how good Liverpool are when your penalties dry up. You are not better than spurs or man City.

02 Oct 2016 20:41:46
Son is a very good player, But Bob is just a level above everyone else.

03 Oct 2016 06:10:25
We were transparently better than Spuds a few weeks ago. I think we can put that argument to bed.

03 Oct 2016 15:04:23
Son is an all-action player with all the tools necessary to be world class. Skill, pace, power, dribbling ability, work rate and en product. But a Robbie Firmino, he is not. on a good day, I`d take both of them but wouldn`t swap Firmino for Son, ever.

02 Oct 2016 13:49:52
Well played Joe Allen!

02 Oct 2016 13:54:20
Nice one young Joe 😎.

02 Oct 2016 14:00:53
Ohhhh wee Joe, you beautiful human being with tremendous character 😂.

02 Oct 2016 14:03:44
little welsh xavi ;)

02 Oct 2016 14:50:10
He had Pogba in his pocket all the match. Well done Joe. Miss u at Anfield.

02 Oct 2016 16:20:31
he has turned into a goalscoring machine! well played to the other ex reds today crouch and Johnson, the look on jose's face was priceless.

02 Oct 2016 16:20:36
Well done Joe. 😃👍🏼.

02 Oct 2016 17:23:29
pogba 100m, good business that. :)

03 Oct 2016 15:10:19
JA always had these types of games in him. I remember when he used to hammer the not so great Yaya Toure each time we played city at Anfield as he would outplay him every single time. Now if a player like JA is tying the whole Utd midfield (including the 100m pound Pogba) up in knots for 90 mins as he did on Sunday, what do you thing a midfield of Hendo, Couts, Wiji or Can do to you? JA, you beauty!

02 Oct 2016 12:32:20
First a big shout for the boys who kept on believing. Swansea played well and made us look quite average for at least about 50 mts.
I don't want to be negative but would love to highlight certain areas where we need some attention.
Henderson dropping between two CB's doesn't excite me as his passing are always to lovren or Clyne. He is no Alonso and certainly not his cup of tea to dictate the game from there.

Wijnaldum is a mystery and I have said previously he is a Fabregas minus key passes which means he just occupies the place and that's all. Non meaningful contribution at all given his partner dropped deep.

I have to admit we missed Lallana in the middle as he sees a lot of ball and in his absence we failed to dominate the midfield.

i don't know what's sturridge role set by klopp. He looks like a winger setting up for origi and firmino. He has to play central to me for any influence.

But in the end its points that matters and I am happy we came with all three points.

Thanks.

02 Oct 2016 13:16:59
I'm not so sure Sturridge quiet fits the high press, as he likes to come collect the ball, I'd rather keep him and see him adapt more, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him somewhere like Arsenal or Spurs in the next year.
Wijnaldum, for me is an upgrade on Allen, breaking up play and keeping things ticking over in midfield, thought improved and more involved in 2nd half, like most of team.
nor sure our defenders are entirely comfortable with the zonal system, which is why we seem to concede easily and coula quiet easily have endedup2-2, and just prior to the Swansea chance at the end I was dissapointed thst Emre didn't try to thump it in the back of the net rather than dallying and trying to set up.
Could so easily have ended 3-1 or 2-2.

02 Oct 2016 13:26:32
Sweet chin music. Henderson is adapting mate. He needs more options forward to pass it to. He has dropped deeper. maybe klopp sees him there for the longterm future driving forward when the opportunity arises for example chelsea. Wijnaldum has pace. something fabregas along with strength doesn't have. however he has alt more ability on the ball and better vision the wijnaldum. i see what you mean though.

02 Oct 2016 13:29:36
Disagree about Wijnaldum. He's like a Fabregas who works harder, has more positional sense, and is stronger on the ball. Not only this, but he is very tidy on the ball and contributes a lot to our attacks (2 assists) Seriously, just watch him play, he does a lot that goes unnoticed.

02 Oct 2016 17:02:33
OP Says I don't want to be negative and then proceeds to be negative, the irony. If you want to be negative don't put a disclaimer at the start of your post.

02 Oct 2016 21:28:05
I don't want to agree with you and reply to the post, but I have to agree with you and reply to said post.

02 Oct 2016 11:59:17
First time on since the game yesterday to read Ed's match review as I missed the real thing.

Have I missed something here?! Did we not get points against a team who are fighting and we're now second in the league?!

Some of the chat is embarrassing!

I'm glad we got a bit of a scrappy win yesterday, shows we can do it as well as being the Harlem globetrotters. Ed's for everyone's sake, when we next lose a game, I'd suspend the site.

Believable14 Unbelievable8

02 Oct 2016 13:14:58
Nicely put, finally somebody not moaning about it, getting them 3 points yesterday was massive for us. Difficult first half yes, means nothing, we came back out and did the job, be happy we have 3 points.

If we was to win for an example the next 3 games and then lose one, we'd still have negativity.

Overall, we're playin fantastic, results are proving it, people might say it should've been an easy ggame for us, them people have no idea what they're talking about. Swansea really needed a result yesterday, which is why they did so well in the first half. credit to them but in the end we won, it shows how strong we are under pressure, this is something that's been a problem for some time now. Klopps addressed it and we're doing just fine, I can't be any happier! Bring on utd.

02 Oct 2016 13:28:22
Totally agree Toon, the expectation is from some on here is that the other team are never allowed to have a sniff of a goal or out play us for any period of time whatsoever. The reality is the league is competitive, we're not going to be at our best every single game and we need to be able to grind out wins despite those factors. That's exactly what we did. Great reaction from the team!

02 Oct 2016 09:55:35
First time poster, felt compelled to speak out.
Watched the match yesterday and was disappointed with our lack of energy in the first half. However, I think a lot of that was down to Swansea who 'did a Liverpool' on us. High pressing, speed of thought and action and much quicker to the ball. But I never doubted our ability to win and knew that Klopp would sort it at halftime.
Guess I'd rather be a 'Ron Keague' type of fan than a doubter! YNWA
Bring on the trolls!

Believable8 Unbelievable13

02 Oct 2016 11:57:36
Yeah thought Swansea where brilliant in the first half, identified our weakness and exploited it, they couldn't however keep it up for 90 mins, I doubt many sides could to be fair, so it's important that we never give up because we will always have chances if we continue to play as we do.

02 Oct 2016 12:35:14
So you do admit there still exist weakness in our team Miley? I fail to understand how could you allow them to do a LIVERPOOL to us.

02 Oct 2016 08:41:05
So going into the international break we have put ourselves in a great position, great second half performance yesterday, but I give major credit to Swansea who were excellent in the first half and didn't let us play, our fitness levels seem great and as ed1 pointed out a Klopp pre season would be so important and we are getting so much stronger as games go on, the thing that as stuck out to be as been the team spirit, it seems great, Milner is playing out if his skin in a position he is not use to and by God we have a reliable pen taker now, Mane as started off great as well and Coutinho as been super but Firmino as been absolutely superb, I just love watching him play.

Believable12 Unbelievable8

02 Oct 2016 12:07:07
Iam so glad firmino wears a Liverpool shirt, fantastic talent mate.

01 Oct 2016 23:23:50
City's 1st real test coming up and I have a sneaky feeling their streak is about to end with a bang, fingers crossed.

Ed001 if I can ask
Who in your opinion is the best goalkeeper coach around and how would that person compare to our own at the moment?

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - I honestly don't know who the best keeper coach around is, but it is certainly not Achteberg. I would happily take Xavi Valero back, he improved the keepers and the strikers when he was with us. He used to do more than just coach the keeper how to be a goalkeeper, he would also teach them about the opposition strikers and penalty takers. Plus he would work with the forwards to teach them about the opposition's goalies and their weaknesses. Excellent coach.}

02 Oct 2016 07:18:39
I have a feeling City will maul Spurs today. Some of our performances aside, City look unstoppable right now and i really cannot see Spurs doing any sort of damage to them.

02 Oct 2016 09:53:34
Is De Bryune fit? He is the key for City IMO.

02 Oct 2016 10:48:37
Dont think so Ron.

02 Oct 2016 11:11:28
Good news for Spurs then. I'm backing a draw.

02 Oct 2016 13:43:42
Agreed - the game has a draw all over it. De Bryune has been key this season and will be a big miss for City.

But would love tottingham to lose point to aid our top 4 chances!

02 Oct 2016 16:42:21
Looks like I was right about city 😀, cheers Ed for the reply regarding the coaching 👍🏻.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}
