Am a blue, not looking to argue just asking a question how many of your starting 11 do you think would get into our team, all this combined 11 thing that's on sky and the likes got me thinking, personally ad have coutinio and a fully fit sturridge other than that I couldn't say any others at the minute, am I wrong? Who else do u think walks into our 11?

Scouse John I will give you that mate your probably right with them two but in my opinion them two shudnt b starting for us anyway mate Barry is finished and kone is shocking 95% of the time he is on the pitch

Swansea, I'd say Tim Howard would be an improvement on Migs, I'd also take Mirallas. and a fully fit Baines of course.

Hope you're enjoying the rugby :-)

Add Milner to that list. He would get into their first 11.

03 Oct 2015 00:45:29
Trying not to be biased. Right now I'd take baines stones and lukaku. Questionable ones would be Coleman, McCarthy and mirallas.

That being said, if we played a proper formation which the players are able to understand, it could be a different story.

Also not a fan of Martinez but would still have him ahead of Rodgers!

Had a real think over it and my 11 would b

Howard

Coleman stones sahko Baines

McCarthy Henderson

Coutinio Barkley sturridge

lukaku

Ad say that's balanced and to be fair would probably not b too far off the top of the league

Great info as always Macca.

I just want to say that if the club are to make a change then they need to think carefully. No matter who gets the job it will be a massive challenge. We are miles of being a consistently successful club.

I hope we go for Ancelotti, I think his sides have generally been built on a solid defence and we have been dodgy at the back since rafa left. (possibly a bit before as well)

Fans need to accept that short term a new manager will struggle to make order out of the mess but, whoever it is I just hope that we sign a manager who's value is in his ability and experience of a big club. Not just PowerPoint and teeth so bright they must have been made by Nasa.

Anyway here's to Studge sinking the bitters!

Hi eds what are your thoughts of Frank De Boer as a manager?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Oct 2015 00:50:21
A step in the wrong direction in my opinion

03 Oct 2015 07:31:02
If De Boer was the only option, then yes i would take him in a heartbeat over clueless Brendan. If Klopp and Ancelotti are also interested in the LFC job, then De Boer should be out of the picture completely. My preferences are in order are:
Ancelotti
Klopp
De Boer
Brendan

He has no proven ability to adapt a team to different circumstances unlike for example ancellotti klopp etc. managers who have managed in top leagues and won trophies against really tough opposition, I'm not discrediting the Dutch leagues but it's a different Universe compared to the premier league as Ajax don't have much competition in the league in a similar way Celtic are in Scotland and previously Rangers as well, he is very young a good manager from what I have seen but like I said very unproven in tough competitions unlike the ones I mentioned above which is what we need to finally sort out the mess we have at the moment. we don't need more rebuilding we have a strong squad. we need a leader who knows how to get results with a proven track record.

Eds with most recent reports indications of FDB being an option to replace BR I just wondered what your opinion of him is? I haven't seen much of Ajax in recent years so have no clue to his style or ability. I vaguely remember one of the eds previously mentioning that he's told what style/formation to play and just coaches them to play that way, is this right or am I way off?

Out of interest, can anybody find the stats on Kennys last 20 games vs Brendan's last 20 games? I feel that may prove interesting reading.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

03 Oct 2015 02:12:06
from my calculations of King Kenny's last 20 games in all competitions, we lost 10 drew 2 and won 8 scoring 34 goals and conceding 23. I could be wrong however as i did it quickly on my phone. BR's last 20 games we have lost 7 Drew 7 and won 6 scoring 19 goals and conceding 29. However 4 of Kenny's 8 wins were in the F.A cup, but we did reach a final by doing that. But we got 17 points compared to BR's 19 points. If anyone would like verify my totals you can feel free, i did this at nearly 2am on a friday night. :P

After watching the team last night i certainly would like to watch rogers training sessions. i mean the players last night seemed to have no idea about their respective positions like instances where Can roamed freely up field when clearly he should have been in the backline.

also allen and rossiter literally glued together for the whole match. and why play 3 at the back when the players he selected were more suitable to a back four. this clearly shows br has no skills to train players tactically.

and if macca is correct i would be happy to replace him with anyone who just basically can train the players about their tactical awarness and positioning in which BR has no clue.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

03 Oct 2015 00:16:55
If you want to watch the training sessions then get yourself a ladder and look before they build the privacy screen to stop Brendan's "tactics" leaking out. lol

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 01:06:12
I think your erong about Can; I'm sure he has been told to move from defence into midfield or attack if the opportunity presents itself and he's not going to leave us (to) exposed.

Remember mark Wright in the sweeper position moving into Midfield; or agger or hansen?

I agree about the tactics; why play a back 3 against a single front man? that's where their goal came from Gomez and Ibe not knowing who to mark.

I thought Rossiter played well; he made space looked to receieve the ball and had movement; the issue IMO last night was that the wingbacks were playing too deep or filling the space the forwards / Lallana were in hence no options to pass to.

Regardless it stems from playing 3 at the back against a single forward!

The manager debate is very boring, he knows he is gone and doesn't care because he's already won the lottery.
What matters is our great club the players, the staff our standing in the global game and the future. We have to be careful what we wish for because I for one am very nervous about whether these owners can get it right, they have not shown us yet that they understand what it takes to pick a great football manager and great players. .that is most important, without that you can't build a bigger stadium and make it worthwhile or exploit commercial opportunity worldwide if the team makes even it's loyalist support want to stop watching the games. Just bring us back some entertainment and excitement please Mr JW Henry.

Not sure whether timing is right. Rodgers should have left in the summer. Perhaps FSG waited for either Ancelotti or Klopp to be available and then make the move. In any case it is pointless sticking with Rodgers any longer. Team needs a lift and someone who knows what's he is doing. My question is what would happen to Gary Mac and O'Driscoll when Rodgers goes?

Believable7 Unbelievable1

03 Oct 2015 07:39:51

Im a bit disappointed in peoples reactions to De Boer as a potential manager. He seems like he's got a very good record in holland as a manager and has seen everything in the game as a player. Considering our league position and squad he is probably as good as we can expect.

Believable14 Unbelievable13

02 Oct 2015 22:27:56
Not convinced, seems FDB is similar to BR in that he has his ideas as to how the game should be played and will not change his style even if its not suited to the players. YNWA

The Dutch league is a poor one, we should be aiming higher
We are LFC. At this time we need to do whatever it takes to get the best out there. And unfortunately De Boer is not that.

Agree4 Disagree3

02 Oct 2015 22:50:40
We need proven people this time. Not another manager bright and young. Mo doubt he would immediately look to bring two ajax players with him. Ultimately he would need to be incredibly bad to be worde than Br at this point, but we definitely need someone who has seen success already.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Oct 2015 21:27:48
A good record in Holland is a big part of people's problems with De Boer imo. Not the greatest league to judge someone on. Wouldn't be my preferred choice. Klopp, AVB or De Boer? Apart from Klopp I would be quite disappointed.

02 Oct 2015 19:51:15
Hope FSG are being coy here because they know if we get tanked in the derby the backlash would be vicious and the only way to appease the fans would be to sack BR so softening the blow.

The international break for a fortnight gives the new manager a bit of time to get used to melwood, anfield etc even though most of the players will be away.

Then again it would be nice to tank them again and if the worse happens and any bitters are gloating then remind them they are the only team in the premier to still have a WOODEN ground (bullens road) that usually shuts them up.

Believable14 Unbelievable0

02 Oct 2015 19:07:53
I think lfc have really good players there and hopefully if and when a new manager comes in he'll play them in they're strongest position and I think we'll see lfc challenging for top 4 but it needs to happen really soon.

Believable16 Unbelievable1

02 Oct 2015 20:45:44
I think we have decent 7-8 players and a very good manager can get from them much more than BR. I don't think that a new manager will make all our squad top players just because he will play them 'in their positions' and I think expectations in this regard are unrealistic. My expectations from a new manager re the EL for example is to play there our strongest 11, yes even Surridge, rather than make the 11 that started on Thursday a top side.

Agree2 Disagree2

02 Oct 2015 22:00:55
I think the expectation is more that by playing the form players, in their right positions, a different manager will build a team that works as a team and that will be the biggest improvement. Other teams have shown you don't need 11 stars, just a few very good players with a well organised team.

My only interest would be that Klopp has more chance of bringing players to Liverpool from his previous club.

Ed002

Im not asking you to comment on Maccas latest post but with him saying he been told he's gone next week regardless of sundays result, would Rodgers be aware of that? i'm just thinking its not ideal going into the Derby knowing what ever the result he has lost his job.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You would do better to ask Macca.}

02 Oct 2015 20:25:26
Let's hope Rodgers goes, he's well out of his depth at pool. I'd also Love to see Klopp but not sure if the new owners would sanction this. I also think the transfer committee is a joke as I think some of the players we have aren't good enough with no world class players apart from courtino but I'm sure he will be on his way to Barcelona at some point.

Agree10 Disagree2

02 Oct 2015 21:22:37
I am pretty certain Barca won't be interested in courtino , no one heard of him , except for rips obviously . I agree with the original poster, its not ideal situation going in to the Derby, if Macca heard, then pretty certain Brendan and the players would've done as well. If its true of course.

02 Oct 2015 16:08:21
Oh crud it might be frank de boer. Macca comes out and says Rogers is expected to be gone by next week, when FDB has pretty much just said he wants to manage Liverpool.

I would take him at the moment but it the same way I'd take KK after hodgson. I just think we need to cut the BS and get a manager that can definitely change things, kind of like what UTD done. I mean, it's nothing rocket science.

I guess this means we can wholeheartedly hope for an LFC win now without worrying that it will keep BR in his job for another God knows how long. Why sack him next week if you haven't got a replacement lined up? If it's just an interim you might as well sack him now, or wait.

Before I start no Disrespect to Our current Manager but why oh why is FSG remaining quiet on this topic as Surely They must be just as Dissapointed as we are and even though early in season Champions League football looks out of reach which we all know means both a massive loss in ££££ and more concerning to me is less attractive to Top Players coming into our club. I'M Not one of those who shouts for the managers head as soon as things go wrong but really even with Money and buying in talent during the transfer period we are still having same old problems and why is it we keep buying decent players with decent form but once with us that form dissappears and it's happened too often to blame the player How about
The manager !! Two main areas of concern for some time 1) GK and what do we do go and bring in a Freebe as a No2 keeper why haven't we bought in at worse a GK to compete for No1 or at Best a top No1 GK who the defence have confidence in !!
2) Another CD but with pace as we have lacked that for Years but will Admit both Gomez and Clyne at Full back look great buys and could be with us for years to come.
Can anyone tell me or explain why if you know your Defence is a weakness why on earth you wouldn't bring in a top Defensive Coach or like I was calling for when Jamie C
Retired why you don't bring him into the Coaching mix up to help with the defence even on a P/T basis until we can bring in a top Defensive coach and finally that leads me onto Mr Gerrard Mr LIVERPOOL why Rogers didn't offer Stevie G a coaching position with the club and that would have allowed him to play when required as we all knew Age was catching up but he could still at a top level but not week in week out but then I came up with my reasons why Not !!!
Rogers was threatened by both Jamie C but more important Stevie G and that's why we need A new Manager ASAP and personally I would love to hear your thoughts on a new manager and why that pick as for me Sure many won't like my pick but I'm in the Klopp Camp for a few reasons
1) He's been wanting this position for some Time and so you know he's done his homework on our great club and knows what's needed to get us on the right path again and that's the reason its come out that he would take over if he gets full control of transfers in and out which I totally agree on.
2) He has Both loyalty and Respect from many in football and who could attract not only Decent Players but Top Players and especially from those playing their trade in Germany and would play for him where ever or who ever he manages.
3) Lastly it's been said that if he's offered the Position that he believes that Each area on the pitch should have a specialised Coach coaching it ie A Defensive Coach a GK coach Attacking coach etc which I again totally believe in as why wouldn't you give those players in the different areas specialised help, Makes Total sense to me. Sorry to be so long but I'm both a very Passionate Liverpool Fan/Supporter but also a very Frustrated Fan/Supporter as I'm sure many of you are.

Agree4 Disagree13

02 Oct 2015 14:16:46
Time for the realist view of things. I've seen the pessimistic view far too much with all its doom and despair. Then most of te optimistic views on here are unfounded belief and opinion with little else behind it. Obviously all opinions are valid, and therefore here is the realist view.

18 months ago we attacked in sublime fashion. Teams scored against us but we simply outscored them. Their were times when our attack was so potent that we scored within minutes and the other team were defeated before the half hour. And yet we conceded daft goals. We finished 2nd and Rodgers missed out on Manager of the Year due to a Great Escape.

One summer later Suarez was gone and Sturridge injured by October. Sterling had already had his head turned and struggled to find form without his fellow forwards from the previous year. We laboured through a season and still conceded the same daft goals, only we didn't score anywhere near as many.

Now this season so far. Sterling is gone. We have a new look forward line. We have been creating absolute hatful of chances, and not really finishing them. We have played both Arsenal and United away. We were beaten at home by a team that had also beaten Arsenal at the Emirates and City at the Etihad, the last team who did that was Chelsea in 2005; who won the title. Our other 4 games have brought us 7 points. We are above Chelsea and 2 points off top 4, having played 2 of the top 4 away from home. There is a distinct lack of finishing so far. And still we concede goals.

Now really evaluate all that.

We have always conceded a lot under Rodgers. We have always created a lot under Rodgers. Rodgers has not had a fully fit strikeforce since Liverpool finished second. We play the same brand and same style of football, but through sale or injury have lost the finishing power we had that season. Even now, Sturridge is just coming back and will need time to build a partnership with Benteke.
You can see that Rodgers is desperately trying to get back to that front 3 of Ings/ Benteke/ Sturridge with Origi/ Firmino/Ibe for cover. Coutinho or Lallana in behind and then 2 of Milner/Henderson/Allen/Lucas/Can in the holing roles.

I believe we can only judge Rodgers from this point. If other top teams had to cope without their front 3 then they would also struggle.
Imagine Chelsea without Costa/Fabregas/Hazard last season. In fact, that's them this season, below us.
Barcelona would not have won the title without Suarez/Neymar/Messi.
Real Madrid would not have won La Decima without Ronaldo/Benzema/Bale.

As you can see, when compared to Chelsea, we have coped rather well without our main strikers. Do we think Carlisle and Sion would have been different with Sturridge or Benteke? Absolutely. Can we see the potential of Ings once he's settled, hell yeah.
Yes, under Rodgers we concede goals, but we always have under him. So don't castrate him for it now when you cheered him on for it 18 months ago. He cannot be blamed for a bid of £75m coming in for Suarez, nor can he be blamed for Sturridge getting injured on England duty.

Feel free to judge Rodgers, after he's got his full squad playing. I like Klopp, I just don't feel its the Liverpool way to sack a manager when he has had to deal with major upheavel to his strike force.

I do agree with changing our transfer committee though.

Believable4 Unbelievable23

02 Oct 2015 14:47:38
A major upheaval to his strike force We lost 2 main forwards and 1 was unfortunately injured for a long time. But it's not like he hasn't had money to replace them. I'm sorry but when you blow £100 million in a season, you expect to win the league, no? Is that not what BR said himself when talking about Spurs?

-Lost Suarez=It's BR'S Job to replace him, messed Remy around and bought Origi Balotelli. loaned Origi, barely played a crap Balo

Sterling-Not even a great miss in my eyes,I think he's vastly overrated. decided to play him striker for 10 matches and send him on a ''wee holiday''

Sturridge Injury= Bought Lambert in for reserve striker role, opted to play Sterling there when Balo clearly didn't cut it.

Hatful of chances?=Where I saw us have 1 good half vs Arsenal and create, therwise we've been restricted to pot shots from 25 and 2 wonder goals from Benteke and Pipco which had nothing to do with creativity in terms of the footballing sense.

We concede a lot under Rodger= Managers HAVE to address this,if you rely on attack to bail you out,and sell those attackers,it's your own fault when you start letting in more goals than you concede.

Sturridge injury=He re injured himself at Melwood after the England injury.

Chelsea=Mourinho assessed his weakness in attack, went and bought Costa Drogba and Remy. Mourinho won the title.Brendan assessed his weakness in defense. Skrtel Lovren and no coach=stuck with this plan even though he bought several other centrebacks.

This is absolute nonsense from start to finish, and since the Crystal Palace match in 2013 we have played the same type of game and style on exactly one occasional - against Spurs at the start of the season 2013/2014. You have literally made up every part of the style and gameplay analysis.

And you've also completely glossed over the most obvious point that we didn't just lose players at all. We lost 1 player, Sturridge, for a year through injury. Everyone else we've 'lost' was actually sold for a very large amount of money that we invested in people unsuitable for what we wanted to do, and then failed to adapt to the players we actually had around! We've spent £150m plus over the 3 windows since Suarez left and failed to make any useful moves whatsoever to replace those lost players (some may be useful if we adapt to them like Benteke), bringing in one unsuitable player after another and failing to get anything out of them. You can't just say 'it's like other teams losing x & y & z' because that doesn't work - those players don't just stop being there! What would happen if Chelsea lost those four players? They'd probably rock up for the next season with Pogba, Griezmann and Lacazette and have a pretty good year - maybe not quite that standard, but not about 30 points, 5 league places and incomparably low quality worse. Every single part of this is flawed logic and selective fact picking I'm afraid. Can you imagine any great or even decent manager blaming a 5 place slide in the league year on year on one player sold and one injured when they spent over £100m on new players? Ridiciulous I'm afraid, and pathetic - BR isn't the only manager who has had one key player out injured

02 Oct 2015 15:22:47
I sort of go some way in agreeing with you Andy, but the players we put out last night, should have been good enough to get a win and that's the worry in my view! Last summer, when Suarez left, getting in the likes of Balotelli and Lambert was never going to work with his style of football and showed why at times, he had to go with Sterling up top, when we had 3 fit strikers to choose from! I've really tried to stick by him, but do wonder if it's gone too far now for him to be able to turn it around, as wonder if he's lost the dressing room at times!

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Oct 2015 15:38:11
That is not a realistic view, it's just your view. Everybody is sharing their opinion and whether those are classed as optimistic or pessimistic is relative to everyone else's opinions.

I would like to add to the other posters reply that 11 points out of 7 games is nothing to be content with, irrelevantly of how everyone else is doing. What if the quality of the EPL becomes so low that it's no longer in the top 5 leagues, would that somehow justify us playing crap?

What irks me is that BR has received the most support, financial and otherwise, out of every manager we had in my lifetime and in 3 plus seasons he and in extension we have nothing to show for it.

Agree5 Disagree0

02 Oct 2015 15:40:11
And if Liverpool had Messi and Ronaldo starting up front, we would have won games against Carlisle and Sion too. Almost all of what you say is nonsense.

Rodgers' has had 3 transfer windows and spend over £180 million since Suarez has left. To blame it all on Suarez's departure and Sturridge's injuries is maniacal at best, but when you factor in that he has had the money AND TIME to make it work with other players, it sounds like an abysmal excuse.

We have always conceded under Rodgers? Yes, and why hasn't he addressed that? You know 3 and a half years later. We have created a hatful? Nonsense again. We created chances against one of the poorest teams in the league - Villa, and against Swiss postmen - Sion.

You have conveniently or cleverly missed out on some of the major issues -

1. We have no working style of play

2. Rodgers keeps playing players out of position and this has messed up a number of players - Ibe, Can and Markovic are examples

3. We really don't look like winning anything anytime soon after spending over £300 million in 4 seasons and that is unacceptable and Rodgers accountable for

4. You touched upon the lackadaisical defending that Rodgers has ignored to address and instead blamed it on "un-coach-able defensive errors"

You simply cannot be talking about "rebuilding" when you have had this much time and money to spend. If he can't do it now, he simply cannot be trusted with lifting our fortunes in the future. He has no pedigree to manage a club of this stature and the pressures that come with it, and he is nothing but a failed excuse that the owners are hiding behind now. When almost all of the fan-base can see through his disingenuous personality and his sure failure, I think it is time to take off the res-tinted specs and looks at the issue for what it is.

Agree10 Disagree0

02 Oct 2015 15:51:43
My god the excuses.

If we haven't had a strikeforce since we came second then why hasn't rodgers done anything about it. He's had over 200 million since then so yeah no excuses.

Secondly even if we did have what you would call 'a strikeforce' then he'd still play all of them out of position and play 1 up top.

Agree6 Disagree0

02 Oct 2015 17:13:12
Agree with above what is worrying me is a lot of fans abusing the players for this. So many are being played out of position or simply not being given game time. I look at the talent we have that either just needs nurturing or given a chance to prove what they can do for example the below come under that bracket for me.

Suso (to me a great loss especially for free).
Ilori, Markovic, Ibe, Moreno, Teixera, Can.

I'd also say that Sahko has been treated pretty badly too. A good manager would look at the above players and think great talent to work with and bring through, unfortunately this hasn't happened. I'd say if a new manager does arrive wouldn't need too much in terms of new players. Our squad is good enough to compete for the top four.

The major area for improvement for me would be a keeper. Even if mignolet stays we at least need a number one and him as cover or competition.

Seems most people's choice and got ta say mine too but the likes of Klopp (possibly even Ancelotti) would look at the squad available such as.

J. Flanagan, T. Ilori, M. Sahko, A. Moreno.
J. Gomez, E. Can, L. Markovic, J. Henderson.
J. Milner, A. Lallana, P. Coutinho, D. Sturridge.
J. Ibe, R. Firmino, C. Benteke, D. Ings.

And others, Klopp and Ancelotti would look at the squad and surely think "that's a good squad to mould". I do believe with a new keeper and possibly a defender is the most we need. We would be an attractive project for a lot of managers out there.

I'd just like to comment on one point that the original poster made because the rest is quite frankly a work of fiction. I'm open to being corrected on this but I believe that Brendan did in fact win manager of the year for the season in question and did not lose out to a great escape.

As I said, I may be wrong on the issue but I think he was named manager of the year that year.

Lastly just a quick thanks to Macca for the information and I am firmly in the Klopp camp. I can however completely understand the attraction of bringing in a manager like Carlo to provide an experienced head to steady the ship. I won't claim to know a lot about De Boer's management style but I think we need someone a bit more experienced at present.

Question for Eds.

I am asking for an opinion here, I do not expect you guys to know everything!
If Klopp and Anchelotti do not end up at Anfield, what do you think are their other serious options? i.e clubs that have, or will potentially have availability before, or by the end of this season.
I am currently struggling to think of many options. I think that IF city fail to win the league or progress well in the CL then Pello will leave. I also think that if Arsenal either do incredibly well or badly, Wenger could go.
Klopp has said he would only manage in England or Germany, so I guess for him that leaves Bayern. I don't see Pep leaving until he wins the CL or City make him an offer he can't refuse.
I guess Ancholotti could end up in Italy, but not sure who with specifically.

Thanks

{Ed002's Note - For various reasons both have been in England this week and Ancelotti remains here for a couple more days. As I have explained before, there was an effort earlier this year by a third party to steer Ancelotti toward Manchester but he wanted to take a year off, deal with a medical issue and another matter. He is not looking for work but I expect he will probably be approached by Roma. Liverpool has not made any approach to Klopp (who has now turned down four coaching positions since the season started) at this time. One option that Klopp has will be clarified by the end of November and that will influence what he does next. There is a chance that a managerial option will open up elsewhere in England and, under the correct circumstances, that may be an option for him and Zeljko Buvac. I am not so sure those circumstances will be right for them.}

02 Oct 2015 14:54:05
Thank you for your reply.
I can see what you're saying re Ancelotti - there are tangible reasons for him having to wait until the end of the season to get back into work, along with what sounds like a private matter.

Do you think if the LFC job came available by say mid-Oct, could Klopp seriously pass up the opportunity to manage us on the chance something else could be assured by mid-November? I guess it depends on how much more attractive it is than LFC.

If its Bayern, or Arsenal, I can perhaps see the logic there.

However, I look at the German and English leagues and it seems like LFC are the obvious fit for Klopp, who is not looking to join a top top club, but also would surely not accept a step down from Dortmund.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Oct 2015 15:07:28
I am guessing you Pep will decide whether he wants to renew his contract at Bayern by mid-November.

Interesting, well I still think it would be surprising seeing Klopp at Bayern - he thrived with the underdog tag, and always spoke with contempt about Bayern who consistently bought all of his most promising players.

I guess this now hinges a lot on City's form, if Pellegrini ends up under serious pressure from a collapse in CL and PL form, Pep may fancy it. Having said that I reckon City's owners would sack Pellegrini no matter what happens if Pep was available. He is their L-T target.

Good morning Ed's and fellow Reds from Canada!

I have previously been a supporter of Brendan as my previous posts will show. More out of hope that he could come good and learn from his mistakes maybe, but now I have come to the end of my tether with him.

I feel he cannot turn this around. I don't have enough knowledge of the running of the club to understand how deep the problem lies, but I feel our beautiful club isn't going forward anytime soon.

In my opinion we seem to have just bought a lot of players who are individually decent players and tried to chuck them on to the same pitch with no plan or outline.

I don't want to speculate as to who will be the next manager, should there be one, but unfortunately, despite my best efforts to stick by you Mr Rodgers, I'm finally admitting defeat.

Another post from Canada.

We do need a managerial change, I see from all the post's it is agreed. But also some of the players we have are just not good enough. Regardless of who comes is going to take time to turn this around as it will not be an overnight transformation. So we will again have to be very patient & let him build his team, even at the expense of clearing out some of the players on staff. (How much longer can we be?)
I doubt we will see Klopp or even Ancelotti, but who ever it is has to have European experience as well.
I backed Rodgers as he is the manager of my beloved LIVERPOOL but am getting to the point where enough is enough. No manager is going to turn this lot around as too much money has been wasted on average players. I think the squad just isn't good enough. Out of the current squad I think there are about 10 players good enough or with potential.

Canadianscouse - every squad needs squad players. Ours is unbalanced - we are too light in some areas and overfull in others - but you do need an O'Shea for every Vidic, a Ramieres for every Fabregas etc to make sure you have the options and versatility in your squad. Even if you win the title, you can't keep a squad of 25 star players happy.

I wouldnd berate andy he is a glass half full guy and i respect that. But despite looking at the bigger picture andy one has to take account of basic planning and forward thinking. You make a case for rodgers losing his forward line etc but fail to understand the bigger picture yourself.

Brendan has had 6 or 7 i think transfer windows and 300m to spend in that time. I would say that he has had ample opportunity to mitigate the problems you claim he has faced. Its his JOB to MANAGE those situations and ensure they do not remain problems or if he is managing his risks correctly ensure they do not happen in the first place.

Yes we would all like continuity but when a man is so clearly out of his depth its time to end his and our misery.

I would not personally have waited so long, the champions league embarassment alone would have seen him gone. In all my years supporting i would never have thought an lfc manager would send a team out to lose, unforgivable and he lost my support from then.

So yes from your narrow persective you would say we are not looking at the bigger picture but from mine i would say its gone way past the bigger picture.

With Klopp rumours still hitting the headlines (but unlikely he will become Liverpool manager) just wondering who would be your first choice replacement for Todgers out of Ancelotti and Klopp?

Myself would go for Ancelotti based on the fact he has managed in England and won a PL/Cup double not to mention his numerous other accolades. Vastly experienced!

With regards to Klopp I fear he could just be another Villas Boas who did exceptionally well in Portugal just to come to the PL and fall short of the mark. Maybe I am wrong as the Bundesliga is a better standard.

Macca's post whether it turns out to be right or wrong, certainly suggests that the storm clouds are gathering over BR's tenure.

I recently sent an e-mail to FSG pointing out not only my disillusionment with the current situation but also suggesting that they take a look at this website and see just how much the vast majority of Liverpool fanbase on this site are similarly concerned. It would be nice to think that someone did and that what they read made a huge impact.

There have been comments frequently posted on here that without Champions League football it will be difficult to attract top players.
Even without Champions League football, surely there would be a lure when a team is in the EUFA league cup. There are after all decent teams in that competition and now with entry into the Champions' league for the winners that surely is also an attraction.
How would the knowledge, despite a team being in that competition, that their top players are not even guaranteed playing in those matches, affect a player's decision to join a club?
Shouldn't youth be blooded in the likes of the League cup and early rounds of the F A cup rather than in a competition in which the winners gain automatic entry to the Champions' league?

Rodgers has said that he has never lost a derby match but fails to mention that he has only won one. Everton's recent form suggests that they will go into the derby as favourites. He was appointed Liverpool manager after Swansea's fast flowing football style which carried them into the premiership. My understanding is that he took the credit of a team created by Roberto Martinez so this sunday should be very interesting.

Hopefully Macca's source is correct. Whilst we are still within a few points of those 4 Champions' league places we need to fix this asap. It won't be long before we will need to be fighting for a place in the top three and that on current form is a pipe-dream.

Is it a question of tactics, players not good enough, no motivation.

This may seem totally irrelevent but it took 1 minute and 40 seconds for Liverpool to get the ball into the Sion half from the kick-off. In that time the 'defence' passed the ball among themselves at least a dozen times. This is an aspect of the team that has been going on for far too long. It seems easier to pass the ball backwards (to Mignolet) or sideways (not always with much accuracy) than to get an attack going from out of defence. If this is the fault of the players they should be dropped. If it is the fault of the manager he should be sacked. I am not enjoying watching Liverpool at the moment but I shall continue to do so. What keeps me loyal is the knowledge that in the near-future either the performances will improve or the owners will realise that the club has to follow another course.

The main prob is that he either knows he's gone or he really is not worried due to the fact that he now thinks he's untouchable because being kept has in some twisted way, is validation of his tenure being successful at LFC. Either way, it's a shambles and his press conferences are becoming more and more embarassing and cringeworthy

Well i'm going to concentrate mostly on the positives. It was good to see a lot of young players playing. Under the right guidance we could have base of a team for years to come, just not under Rodgers. We all know that. Can, especially in these games has to play in midfield. He is wasted in defence. Now, one negative. Jordan Ibe, his confidence is shot to pieces. Head down, a lot a shaking his head when he lost the ball. I felt quite sorry for him. This was meant to be his break thru season and it still can be but maybe for the meantime he needs maybe 4/5 matches out of the limelight. Poor kid.

Ibe needs to be taken out of the spotlight and slowly re-introduced in a position he is comfortable in. But what does the Fraud do, plays him left wing back, for the first time in his career! You couldn't make this stuff up.

Tbh when he was on the left 1st half he was playing better, attacking defenders looking to come inside and shoot/ find the killer pass, when he came on to the right he looked dejected die t wanna run at people, was looking for the easy ball every time. Agreed he needs to drop out an build confidence and score some goals with the reserves to come back a better player tho. Such a shame the idiot Rogers is still being aloud to rip up the club from within

Ibe needs a manager who will play him in his natural position. The solution is very simple really, but then Brendan is our manager so what can the poor kid do?

Confidence, out of position, BR, maybe he is just not good enough? Ocerated player for me. Same with Can, he is better than Ibe but not as good as many fans here want to believe and it is not just BR's fault. Sorry to be so moany on the.morning but I don't see how playing youngsters is a positive if we play poorly and fail to beat at home a side who is mid tablr championship quality who didn't even try to close the game. None of our starting 11 yesterday is good enough for a team who has any hope for a top 4 finish or a trophy. The only one of the starting 11 who before the game I thought could be a top 4 material was Clyne and then he played awful yesterday. Overall the game quality was that of reserces game and I don't understand how people pay a lot of many to watch a EL competitive game and don't feel robbed when they get this.I thought entrance to reserves games is free.

@fanobipi personally I think your being a bit harsh on how you can rate two youngsters as overrated when as previously pointed out both Can and Ibe are both continually played out of position. I recently changed playing position from RW to RB (mainly due to age!) and the difference in positioning, awareness, role going forward/back is completely different. It took me a good number of games to get to grips with the change.

Now I know you'll state that these kids are professionals and should be able to adapt but I'd also point out that both Can and Ibe are being played out of position in multiple roles, for example Ibe has been played in: RW (as part of a midfield 5), ARW (as part of a front 3), RWB (as part of a back 5) and most recently LWB. As a young player with the pressure of trying to break through into the first team he doesn't have a chance in hell of being able to demonstrate his capabilities when he's not being given a chance to learn his role. Every time he is picked its a lottery on what's going to be his position depending on BR latest bright idea. Plus it doesn't help when our glorious manager comes out and heaps tons of pressure on Ibe by publicly stating he's the perfect replacement for Sterling who is apparently one of the most promising world class players in the world!

My personal opinion is that as with most things currently wrong with Liverpool, it all traces back to BR. Yet again promising young players are being hung out to dry by a manager who isn't giving them a chance to prove themselves because he's so inept he doesn't know what formation, system or tactics to employ and fans like yourself aren't going to do them any favours by knocking what shred of confidence they have left by declaring them overrated after one game in an alien position.

Someone should buy BR a gift of some football manager game, where players are marked red, when you try to play them out of position.

So disappointed this season. A club of LFC stature should surely have enough in reserves to beat a team like Sion. All this change in formations is the problem I believe. When things aren't going well you go back to basics. Would love to see a simple 4-4-2 with players in correct positions. It's a simple game when played simple BR. having backed the club and manager this long I have started to turn my head regards BR

Lose to everton eds and do you think that will be the much needed catalyst for a change? They must be listening to fans opinions and the reaction at the end of the game last night should say it all. How long will they let this slide go on for. Is there discontent among players at present? Sorry if you have touched on this before but I can imagine the players are waiting and hoping that brendan goes and goes quickly. Thanks

{Ed023's Note - If we lose to Everton and he is still here after the international break then I am convinced he has 'til xmas if not the season. Get the new man in next week and have him get used to the surroundings by the time the international players get back}

So a draw will be good enough to keep him? I thought he needed 3 wins from this week 3 games to save his skin.

I don't normally listen to the advice of Trevor Francis, but ladt night he said that our players aren't exactly world class and would no boubt have a better understanding of what was expected of them if Rogers kept it 4-4-2.

Simon Mignolet is the only Liverpool player who knows what position he'll be playing in!

I recorded the game and watched it a while ago. That seemed like an away game. anfield is beyond quiet these days, and it wasn't even sold out, or anywhere close for that matter. Things are looking pretty bad if I'm honest. Can't remember things ever looking this bad.

Fair play giving credit to sion but I don't actually think they played that well if I'm honest.
The goalkeeper made a few saves but our shots where straight at his legs.
