Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

02 Oct 2012 23:02:57
Our main January transfer target is Christian Eriksen. And if available for a reasonable fee we are trying to bring in Theo Walcott.

Another attacking midfielder? On top of Gerrard, Shelvey, Suso, Sahin, Allen etc? Doubt it

I just seen this on the Man Utd site...

02 Oct 2012 09:55:58 Fergie on Nani

"Nani is not the type to dive," said the United boss. "He has never been that type of player"

Come on now ladies. Even you have to agree, the old man is losing it.

What a pelicanhead....

Ps, I agree...Taggart is certainly losing it!

Hi eds, I was reading this week that Messi wants to be remembered as a nice person as well as a great player. I was wondering who has been Liverpool's nicest player over the last few years and who has been the most arrogant!

Ta, Andy {Ed001's Note - arrogant is without doubt Paul Ince, a complete tool he was, I hated him from the moment I met him. Actually I would say he was the most arrogant person I have ever met in any walk of life. Nicest I would say was probably Paddy Berger, he was a really nice lad.}

02 Oct 2012 22:41:23
Not a player but would be remiss not to mention Montse.

This will shock you because he was one of the worst players with attitude on the pitch, but i used to serve el hadj diouf at a bar in the city and he was sound, maybe because he only ever bought a glass of coke and gave me the change from a 20 pound note ! {Ed001's Note - for the lad that said Montse, I would also have to include Louise Redknapp, I was never a fan of hers, but then I met her. One of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to meet, even the Everton fans loved her.}

I was told a story about a jockey who knocked Ince down to size. He put his cigar out on his arm so the jockey floored him. So much for being the guvnor

Hi fellow reds and Eds
This is just me thinking out loud , with Mario Gomez falling to second best at Munich, he is the one striker i would really fancy at LFC .
I personally think the guy is underated, to me he is mega sized goal poacher, for munich he always seemed to be at the ryt place to always nick it in.
Lfc are playing some of the most exciting football in the last 4 years, and were still a bit short on fire power . If come january and were third on the table, i think we could get away with murder and nick Gomez from munich . Its just a dream from a loving fan , whats ur thoughts eds ? {Ed002's Note - I have no view on it.}

We tried to get him several times but bayern value him as an asset

No chance unfortunately, he's not second best he's injured now and coming back to fitness. He's hardly underated, Germany's 1st choice striker, and he's one of the Bundesliga's top goal scorers over the past 2 years.

Like he'd go to Liverpool. Dream on lads - you're not good enough to play with the big boys anymore :)

May or may not have been posted before, but anyone looking for clues if we are to be redeveloping Anfield...

Planning permission has been submitted for a No. 120 space carpark to the anfield road end as seen on the planning web site:

I can only assume this is may be to accomodate a redeveloped Centenery stand... or it could mean nothing.

Just thought I would share (if it already has not been).

Hi Supasub - I have read your latest rant and corrected it. You may not have noticed that your grammar is not very good but having seen the level of your intelligence over the last couple of days I wouldn't have expected you to be legible as well. While you are attempting to be sarcastic may I point out that the Cup in which your team is appearing is called the CHAMPIONS' Cup not SECOND PLACE IN THE LEAGUE Cup!. Your team has no more right in this competition than mine or any other club except Manchester City (Premier League Champions') or Chelsea (European Champions). Anfield to get extended to between 60k to 66k capacity {Ed002's Note - I would expect that the very significant additional costs with going above 60k would prohibit such a think happening.}

I'd be happy with an Anfield expansion at around 55k - 58k seating. A greater focus on commercial revenue (Ayre's job) can offset the 10k or more so seats most people desire.

On a side note, I'd also love to see if LFC can have at least one area for standing supporters again. Maybe between the Main stand and the Anfield Road end. Just with the emotions of Hillsborough most recently, all seater stadiums started as a result from LFC, so LFC should push again for small controlled, reliable and respectful standing areas.

If the Taylor report is nullified through a new independent inquiry, then the rules on all seater stadiums could be looked at again. Enough time has passed now, and we should be the club to lead this cause as another tribute to our 96. However there are probably too many safety issues that would now come with this.

10000 seats are not enough,i am from malta land go once a year to see a match,there are to many ppl with no chance of getting a ticket.
we need 65/70 capacity ground even if it will cost more money in the long run it will best thing to do.
flying to the uk is cheap from anywhere in europe with these cheap airlines.tickets are the only problem.
we have a agency here in malta that has packet deals 2/3 times a year,a 5 day holiday.
thats not what most supporters want,we want to fly fridaynight see the match and return sunday for work/family reasons.malta manchester is 70 euro not a problem for most ppl tickets are.

02 Oct 2012 16:42:53
As regards standing area in a redevolped Anfieid rd I believe a leaf could be taken from the Irish Gaelic Atheletic Association. Or GAA. The terrace in the GAA headquarters at Veiled park is called hill 16 and holds 10,000 people. It's safety record is exemplary and the atmosphere is incredible. Tkme to bring back terraces. Google hill 16 images and understand that there have bee no accidents or incidents worth mentioning. New terrace in anfield should commemerate the 96. Dub LFC YNWA

Having survived the crush at Hillsborough I am totally agaisnt a return of standing terraces. It is not a time issue, it is a safety issue and the Taylor Report has not been nullified. If anything, his findings have been enhanced by the new report. If Liverpool put in a standing terrace again, I would stop going.

Scouser Tommy

I can't see any stadium having standing only let alone anfield after the loss of the 96. It will never happen.

Can anyone, Eds, fans, Jeeves, tell me, where the hell is Alex Doni these days? He has literally disappeared. He is still number 32 on LFC squad page, but he has not been at Melwood since the summer at all, has he? Is there a personal problem he is having which is private, or is he free to move to a Brazilian club, and the club are just waiting to announce this soon?

We have a GK problem with Reina completely out of form and confidence, and our supposed No.2, who is on a whopping 30k a week, has vanished out of thin air. Baffling. RC

Doni's issues are private. No, he is not free to move to a Brazillian club but he probably will in the near future.

02 Oct 2012 13:13:48
Hi eds,
Any truth in the council not being happy with our plan to increase capacity at anfield. I read they would perfer a new stadium to help improve the area.They are also concerned about the impact it would have on public transport during match days with thousands of extra supporters.

Thanks

Right lads time to stop the silly talk. Bent, sturridge,demba ba are no way good enough for Liverpool and should not be considered. Just because we are a bit short up front is no reason to buy below average players who are just not good enough. See how we are in December but maybe we might be ok. The young lads are doing great and maybe it was a blessing not getting anyone signed in the summer. The football is great to watch right now and maybe the goals against Norwich will just kick start our season. We look now like a good team that will only get better. Young players with hunger and talent can only be good.

02 Oct 2012 13:16:18
Below average?
Bent would walk into the team, Sturridge is easily on the same level as Borini (who "will come good") and Ba is possibly one of the top strikers in the league. Bent however is old, Sturridge is greedy and doesn't suit pass and move, and Ba has a dodgy knee which could end his career at any time. But none of these players are below average just because we don't need them! Get a clue. At less than £9m, I'd take any 3 of them.

YNWA! (Adam)

If you honestly think Ba and Bent are the way forward for us, then you are very much mistakeen Adam. They are ok players, but would not suit our style of play. Ross

02 Oct 2012 14:37:17
I never said they are what we need, i merely defended them against a fool who called the highest scoring u21 last year, the most prolific striker in the first half of the season and the premier leagues most consistent goalscorer for about a decade 'below average'.. they are not below average, they are good. I agree Liverpool need great players not good players, but if we had Ba, Bent or Sturridge, we'd have finished in the top 4 last year. There are better options, but these players at the right price aren't bad options.. dont twist my words ross.

YNWA! (Adam)

I like Borini too Adam mate. We all know he should score more but what people should understand. That his movement alone, provides space and gaps for other players to run into.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Right then 1st things 1st.. I'm no fool and if these players are so good how come non of the manchester clubs want them or arsenal and Chelsea would let sturridge go and bent couldn't make it at the spuds? They just are not good enough!
Next point is borini which I didn't bring up but I agree that he will come good and he def better than the others.

02 Oct 2012 12:09:28
Nani is a really bad diver but ashley young would have made a better diving partner for Tom Daley then the one he had. Worst diver in the Prem maybe he needs to look closer to home before saying things to the press.Wellbeck is a diver, Rooney is a diver remember when he jumped over sol campbell and got that pen against Arsenal. Fegie is loosing it he is a joke i have no respect for that guy. {Ed002's Note - Diving is the blight of football right now. The point is he is a manager supporting his players - no more. I would expect most managers to do it publicly. It is hardly discussion worthy.}

What about Gerrard and Suarez? Remember Gerard going down and getting a pen with the ref thinking he was going to be fould! Was it v Coventry? and as for Suarez he surely is the king of dive?

Try to find a clip of Suarez diving without being touched. Then when you can't, come back and apologise. Thanks.

The last time we played Coventry was in 2001 I think, so once in the last 11 years won't make him a diver surely.
KernowRed

Stevie dived out of the way of a tackle against Sheffield United (away) on the opening day of the season a few years back.... He lost the opportunity to shoot coz he was avoiding a stupid tackle. It was a soft one fair enough!
Robbie buried the pen as far as a I remember!

Macko

Suarez doesn't dive?! Please tell me your having a laugh?

What's with fabio borini agent coming out and saying he never wanted to leave Roma? Is this an excuse for why he might be performing at a mediocre level. In my opinion that £11 mill we spent on him was not money well spent.

No worries there Suso must be worth at least that much.. i can't see Borini getting back in the side now

Of course it isn't an 'excuse' - the lad had been thrown about from one team to another, and had finally found some stability once his ownership issues had been sorted with Roma. We've gotta remember Fabio is only 21, he probably just wanted somewhere to settle for a while, which is completely understandable. Now he has that stability I'm sure he'll be a great asset.

I think you'll find the comments were actually that Borini would have been happy to play for roma, however, liverpool is a "very pleasant destination."

Ha ha ha another great quote from fergie today...... Nani is not a diver ...... Lol he's losing it

Nani and young have had more dives between them than Jacques cousteau's aqua lung.

That's a good one from fergie,also liked it when he didnt his usual 15mins injury time against spurs,and started to complain haha.

02 Oct 2012 12:57:33
Suarez is more of a diver than Nani.

Here come the results for Nani's amazing 'Triple Back Somersault with Pike' ...its a 9, 9, 9, 8, 9, 9 and finally, from the Italian judge, a massive 9.5... He's did it, he's the new world champion.

For their fantastic support.

He's Obviously never been on here after

Might of been after a WIN

He was probably thanking"genuine"fan's not people who want him sacked 4 game's into his job.

The negative people posting on this site after a poor result that you talk about are not "fans" of LFC.

At WBA in the cup about 4000 Liverpool fans, true fans, were singing his name.

Granted it was whilst winning

Ben

We were actually losing 1-0 when we started singing his name, Ben. Can see he really appreciates it as well.

The fans sang his name against West Brom when we had not even won a league game!
We can all see whats going on....
Brendan Rodgers is made for Liverpool. I have not been this excited to watch a europa league game ever..... Whatever team he picks the average age will be about 15! Brilliant! Long may it continue.

The best news for LFC in a long long time

Gerrard is already talking about extending his contract!

The Bells

Stop looking for replacements there aint any.

I really believe this is gerrards last season as an instant starter. I think next season he wil become a squad player for the big matches and European fixtures (he plays the best in those fixtures). But I would not look to a replacement just yet as shelevy is proving to be the next in line.

Impossible to place Stevie.. ask Fergie he had the same problem with Scholes could not replace him so brought him back. Liverpool starting to click now i can feel it RED RUSS

I feel like Stevies got an extra spring in his step with BR's style of play. I reckon he's got 2-3 more starting seasons left in him which gives Shelvey the perfect amount of time to learn his trade from the probably the best there has ever been in his position...YNWA Tobiwan

Gerrard will not be a sub or anything else like that

He will finish his career in the first team in about 3-4 years time

ITs a pity some just don't realise how good he is and he's damn good, better than shelvey by a country mile

02 Oct 2012 09:07:08
When Lucas is fit, would you play him? And if so, who would you take out of the team? Personally, I would play him against teams that are more attacking, but leave him out against the teams who are more willing to park the bus. Whatever, it's going to be a tough choice for BR to make.

Nick

At the start of his return I expect him to play more in our team B (Europa league, FA cup and capital one fixtures like Sahin was doing). Until he's back up to speed and to his best I don't see him replacing any of our midfield trio.

Not a rumour but just questions. Is it true that Enrique might be sold? If yes, why? He's not a bad left back and might improve under BR. Just wondering why he's being left out. DAPred

Im assuming its cos he runs around like a headless chicken..sticks his be-hind into wingers crotches, and thinks its defending, he's pretty slow when it comes to decision making..you can see that he doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the team..

Enrique is strong and quick and initially looked like he knew how to defend but in the last 6 months of league football he began to get caught out of position and get beaten 1 on 1 more than is ideal. Fo me he consistently struggles with the tactical aspects of the game such as when to pass and who to and is very left footed, because of this and because the opposition isolate him on his right foot or make it difficult for him to use his left, he tends to make a panic pass and either lose the ball himself or set someone else up to find it very difficult to keep the ball. If he can't improve this quickly in training he will not fit in to Rodgers left back requirements. As many fans will have seen the fullbacks are key to this system and have huge responsibility to provide width, attack and defend and generally be a free outlet for a pass.

Simon

My problem with Jose Enrique is he thinks he is on Strictly Come Dancing.....
20000 pirouettes and then he plays the ball that he was going to play before his 20000 pirouettes....
If he refuses to do the simple thing then let him Pirouette his arse out the door.

Hey Eds & Madrid fans:

I know you don't know for sure, but do you think Sahin will stay permanently? Looking at his twitter and life off the pitch, he already seems more settled with our squad than Reals. Any Madrid fans care to explain the situation with him and our chances on a perm move? I know it's down to where we finish/price/etc but I have a feeling he is going to shine with us this season. Lets hope Suarez & Xabi can convince him to stay. He and Suarez already look like being great on the pitch and close friends off. {Ed002's Note - The answer for me is the same as yesterday.}

I hears Sahin just got the KUN tatoo

The one the same as KUN has on his Apse that means he is going to stay at anfield for life just like Kun er was.

taken from ,

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed claims made by Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero that foreign players are treated differently by referees.

The Argentina international recently expressed his belief that English players had "privileges" which were not available to foreign players, after Roberto Mancini's side failed to get two penalty kicks during their match against Fulham on Saturday.

However the veteran coach refused to become embroiled in the argument ahead of his side's Champions League clash with CFR Cluj, but did suggest that any reputation foreign players have, is down to their own actions over the years.

"As a subject it is not worth going down because we have known for quite a few years there are plenty of players diving and, you have to say, particularly foreign players," Sir Alex told reporters.

The Red Devils boss also complained about his own side's penalty claims over the weekend, in which he felt winger Nani was incorrectly refused a spot-kick after going down from a Jan Vertonghen challenge in their defeat to Tottenham.

"Nani is not the type to dive," said the United boss. "He has never been that type of player.

"It was a penalty kick on Saturday. Sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't.

"From the referee's position it was difficult because there were plenty of bodies in front of him. The linesman could have helped him but he didn't."

would love to hear what u guys have to say.

Kaizer

Maybe he saw Nani, YOUNG Ronaldo dive more in practises. So he comes to conclusion.

Did,nt Van Nistleroy and Stam reveal that Ferguson used to encourage his players to "make the most of it" when in the penalty area?. It has been very clear that quite a lot of United players do tend to be "fouled" in the area. Big strong players giong down very easy. It happens at all clubs though so very unfair to point the finger at any particular bunch. However Fergusons attitude is that they should be allowed to do it but others are wrong. Been going on for a long time.
Robbie

Isn't, "particularly foreign players" a bit rascist?

His hypocrisy is staggering to say the least; he nurtured serial divers such as Ronaldo, Ruud Van Nistelroy, Rooney, Young, Cole, Valencia to name a few and many more who I cant be bothered to name! and by the way Ferguson Nani is a diver, just try taking off your rose tinted glasses you hypocrite!

He may as well of said 'particularly Luis Suarez' as that is where he was going with it.

In all honesty what else would you expect SAF to say

Nani is a cheating rat faced type of guy?

Never thought I would be so happy with our football , without the weight of expectation , build slowly and solidly my Liverpool as our time will come once more , beware !! Because when it does come we will come with the thunder !!!! {Ed063's Note - Own sound effects optional}

Did we not play great attacking pass n move football last season?

Last season we played plenty of passing football, but with no movement.

Um no

We played great football last season under Kenny for most of the season just 2 or 3 players short.

Some have very selective memories!

Its a bad day when kind words for the king can't be found

Hey Eds first of all love your work, i check this website everyday and a big shout out to Macca for all his work on here... first time poster however i was wondering if either in january or next summer would there be any possibilities of Liverpool looking at Hugo Lloris as a potential replacement for Reina due to his miscontent at sitting on the Tottenham bench while keen to play in the Premier League. Another i was wondering would be Javier Hernandez from Manchester United... i Know the united wouldnt be very willing to sell however if we quoted the right price we might be able to snatch him up... he would work well with Suarez and has all the qualities required under Rodgers system being pace, passing and finishing... once again this is just an enquiry as to the possibility of us being able to get them and would love a reply... thanks for your time and if anybody has any opinions on this feel free to leave them. {Ed001's Note - why do people talk so much nonsense about Lloris? He knew the score when he joined Spurs, there is no issue yet and he won't be going anywhere in January. Forget anyone from United as well, not going to happen.}

Id love us to sign Hernandez. Reminds me of Robbie Fowler with some of his improvised finishing and his sense of being in the right place at the right time. Not as good as Fowler though, obviously, but then, who is?

Mantis.

BR seems to know what he is doing. He seems intent on building a team that will play proper football ...in fact he reminds me of a young Arsene Wenger. I read a comment the other day that he made, it was along the lines of '...damned if a team of mine will ever lump the ball up the pitch'. Fantastic! Thats exactly what i want my manager to say...and thats what i want liverpool football clubs philosophy to be. As a fan i want to be entertained. I want to watch proper football. We havent had that since the days of Peter Beardsley and co. Give the man a chance. He knows what he is doing. He just might be the next Wenger with his vision or Fergie with his penchant for attacking football. I think that following many years of stumbling from one bumbling manager to the next we have, at last, finally found a gem (and not someone that throws millions of quid away into the bargain). He will make mistakes. In fact he said himself that there would be more days like the season opener with west brom before he finally gets it right. Its during those days that our resilience as fans will be tested. Ive seen enough to agree with you Macca that he is the real deal. Given time; he'll prove it.

Good post mate BUT-
I want to watch proper football. We havent had that since the days of Peter Beardsley and co
