Notice the last two games their was no brendan rodgers and that equals two wins lol..

Really hope this is the start of our season because the first half of the season wasnt goodenough really.

Flops like Henderson & Allen are playing well and deserve the praise.
I still think gerrard has still a distance to go before he is anywere near the player he is but his last few games are promising.
Suarez, well where would we be without this lad? Such a talent ( i still think he should be a number 10)..
Sturridge welcome! You have a great mentor as a partner and with your speed & protential a i think if you listen then youll be great.
Big Ray

Rogers was in the dugout this evening and very much in control.
ND

02 Jan 2013 23:44:02
No Rogers? I take it you never bothered watching the game then?

MR EM

U person. BR was back today.

I think you will find that Brendan Rodgers managed the team tonight have you actually watched the match?
LFC Liam

Rodgers was there tonight though.

Rodger was at the game today!

K-Man

Rodgers was there tonight and Henderson and Allen are hardly flops...

Rodgers was there today

Rodgers was at the Sunderland game {Ed019's Note -

Brendan Rodgers was back today.

Flop? Joe Allen has been a gem of a signing!

What? BR was there today.

Rodgers missed one game mate. He picked the team, a team which was winning 3-0 before any changes were made by Pascoe so technically, he chose a winning team against QPR and against Sunderland tonight.

No Brendan Rodgers, , , , What on earth are you talking about??

He was at the game tonight? Maybe you have that fever he had against QPR

Kelly Red

Wow he was there, or maybe i'm still blocked from new years no he was there he even gave an interview. Alos to call allen and hendo flops is quite disrespectful, their better than you'll ever be. Then thats take our top goalscorer and put him in number 10 hmmm.
derryred

Rogers was at the game today....

03 Jan 2013 00:24:25
Did I miss somthing im sure br was in the dug out and the guy who did the interview looked like br aswell. Bloody good cgi
Dragon3383

Your a person mate. Henderson was need a flop the guy has tried so hard with us. Allen has not even been give half a season and he's a flop? Your a flop of a a supporter. Brendon was there as well

Brendan was there? What game were you watching lol
RedChris

Allen a flop??

02 Jan 2013 22:59:40
hi am Mike Keegan 1st ever post erm Edz is it true we have launched a bid for Scott Brown

Mike Keegan {Ed052's Note - highly unlikely}

02 Jan 2013 22:53:44
Two observations that have been seen over and over this season. Gerrard is better further back where he has more of the pitch in front of him to releases passes to and Johnson is better on the left. RED LENIN

I agree red lennan but Gerrard dominates midfield when he has time and space as seen with Suarez second goal, in tighter games in future he may be used more often, coming on when players are tired and space can be exploited when opposition players are tired, that's how I see Brendan using him anyway

02 Jan 2013 22:51:33
rodgers " we were never going to do a lot in this window " NO cause we dont need to?

i agree it aint a good month to do much but when u are in desperate need then it shouldnt matter.

he says "we defo need to improve squad no doubt over coming months as in what? 6 months time not "coming months!" then he says it will come with time we have been waiting long enough.

Have fsg said wait to summer and thel back him with a high budget?

i dont get it though why wait why not improve big just now instead of being even further away from top 4

Because players cost more in January, less players are available in January. How many clubs are willing to let top strikers leave mid-season unless they are under-performing or they get a lot of dosh for them? Better business is done in the Summer when everyone is buying and selling.

cozinoz

We are playing better and better. i feel that this is a turning point, and with sturridge ready the next game i feel good about the team. but, cant wait for the summer though. YNWA

02 Jan 2013 22:51:05
A quote from the Daily Telegraph - "Even Jordan Henderson was superb."

Was last game and 80% of the time when played in the middle still young we need to be patient mayhem 1981

02 Jan 2013 22:46:59
Just want to say henderson starting to believe in his ability
Hope he has a go at winning the fans and manager over coz he definatley has the attributes quick strong and stamina is top class

Basy

He brings an energy to the midfield and presses the ball so well, so that we are able to win the ball back higher up the pitch.

Starting to really see something good in the guy myself. He took his time, but he is starting to shine!

Some fans on here don't deserve players like henderson.
derryred

I have criticsed henderson time and time again...
he played well..lets be honest...
but he need to win more ball back..press more..get the balla nd relese to the next atatcker..
dont look behind..lucas gonna cover..or gerrard does..
if he does these...he or anyone will be a top player...

02 Jan 2013 22:46:52
Heard a rumour of a medical at Melwood tomorrow, Not sure whom... But supposed to be Foreign... Any news Eds? {Ed052's Note - no. We had this rumour yesterday as well}

BR said after the game that it didnt seem like there was another one new in just now.
hes been a straight shooter from the get go.
dont hold your breath!

02 Jan 2013 22:45:08
We were great tonight, looked solid and took our chances. Yet again Stevie was the main man, the people who have slagged him off this season then I hope you will give credit were it's due and think twice before you write Gerrard off in future. As I have said before OUR BEST MIDFEILDER BY A COUNTRY MILE!

Waro

Well said waro , I wrote on here about 8 weeks ago and said Steve g is world class and yet again he showed it tonight the pass for Suarez 2nd goal was worth the entry fee pure class I love that lad.

The team compliments each other i think henderson pressing high up winning the ball back earlier then allows gerrard to do his thing as does lucas behind him winning it faster downing and sterling add pace movement and never forgetting there defensive duties as for suarez magical is the word with sturridge and hopefully another forward we have even better options and goals mayhem 1981

02 Jan 2013 22:44:15
my thoughts on tonights game
reina: couple of great stops and his ball distrubiton very good played like his old self.
wisdom: really glad to see him back fit and fighting , immense player for the future of our club.
skyrtel: what can i say only im his biggest fan lol
agger: did really well hardly poot a foot wrong.
johnson: u know what u get with him, gives everything he has.
sterling: great goal chuffed for him, his touch let him down later in the game and was taken ooff due to fatigue. hes only 18 and a great prospect.
gerrard: the more the doubters seem to surface the more he plays out of his skin, involved in all 3 goals and some of his passing was jaw dropping.
henderson: all im gonna say is "go on my son" the run of games deff giving him more confidence.
downing: for these last 2 games playing like the player we bought, some lovely touches and crossed as well.
lucas: solid as a rock enough said
suarez: i think he epitimizes all qualities u need to be a success hunger, skill, vision and brilliance also plays with a smile on his face.is ther a better forward in the premier league( no contest).
allen: played well and very unlucky not to register with his first goal.
suso:did little wrong did get outmuscled a couple of times but then that isnt his game.
CARRAGHER:only ian callaghan has played more games now, well done to BR for bringing him on and to the liverpool fans that gave him a rapturous reception. WD CARRA.
i really enjoyed the match tonight and hopefully we get a result in the cup at mansfield and carry this form into the game at old trafford
YNWA
livlim

Im sure the mancs will suggest RVP as a better forward but he doesn't have half the all -round talent and needs to up his scoring a bit imo to get near our Luis ;)

cozinoz

Wisdom kept giving the ball away and played it out three times.

There is no better allrounder than luis suarez in this generation...
pure simple..
he scores from any angle..any foot...
i mean he is sublime..
someof his touch..and control..is execptional.-.

02 Jan 2013 22:42:20
hi eds! just wondering if sturridge will be the only forward we buy in jan?! any truth to the villa rumours cant see it myself! {Ed052's Note - no to Villa. Im sure other players will sign}

02 jan 2013 22:40:02
great win tonight, but reality check - wins against fulham, qpr & sunderland were all against teams really struggling this season. the real tests start now with games against the top teams. for me, if we can get 4 points from these fixtures that would be a positive sign of our improvement. fingers crossed.

kbl

Sunderland beat Man C, QPR beat the chavs.
Any win in the PL is a good win as the standard is so high at this level. There are no bad teams. We played both Manchester clubs off the park but got beaten by a poor Villa side.
We're good enough to beat anyone but we need to find consistency to achieve Top 4 and more.

cozinoz

One big positive im taking is in previous seasons we have always seemed to struggle against teams who are doing poor we either draw or lose to them normaly but this season we are beating these teams and have won against all 3 promoted teams for the first time in i dont know how long.

03 Jan 2013 00:25:54
True they have both been struggling this season - but Sunderland beat Man City in their last game out and have won 3 out of their last 4 games. QPR won away at Stamford Bridge tonight!
RedChris

02 Jan 2013 22:39:31
Steven Gerrard's past it...
Said no one ever

He is definately past it as an AM. He plays better further back where his vision and passing ability are better utilised. RED LENIN

Actually, games like this suit Stevie because teams drop off of him and let him take time to punt the ball. It reminds me a bot of watching the LA Galaxy over here (I'm in Los Angeles) with Becks. Beckham can destroy you with a long ball so long as you give him a 5 yard cushion. I love Gerrard, but these types of games have been few and far between over the last 2 seasons. bring on the hate!

Don't you mean...
Steven Gerrard passed it all over the park tonight! Class Act!

Pretty sure I saw him quite a ways up the pitch tonight? Perhaps I'm going senile, hasn't he always covered the full pitch defending and attacking?

Lifelongred

02 Jan 2013 22:28:33
is their any truth at all in the villa rumours eds? {Ed052's Note - no}

02 Jan 2013 22:37:07
just a summary of todays it seems that liverpool have put out a jet to get falco, villa, torres, cavani and more to liverpool, its going to be a good 2013
winning the league.

02 Jan 2013 22:33:31
From BR after the Sunderland match - "no other signings in the pipeline".

Kidology or true ?

Maybe we are alreay done for this window.

KBL

I think that assadi, suarez, sterling, sturridge, suso,
downing and borini back in two weeks is more than enough to cover three positions.even if downing was sold, that still leaves two players for each position. lpool would need to move on someone else before we bring in another attacker, if i were tom ince i'd think carefully..

red jay

02 Jan 2013 22:30:46
they all start playing when the window is open ?

02 Jan 2013 22:25:36
David villa in liverpool? What could he be doing ther, checking how bad fellow spaniard enrique is injured? Hard to belive the guy who said he has seen david in liverpool.. Can u the eds atleast shed sum light on this! Gr8 sight. Richard in S.africa

02 Jan 2013 22:24:58
Hey eds...as you are aware of, we are in need of a number 9. Who would you like to see there? I mean someone who is affordable and maybe being looked at by liverpool.

Cheers {Ed052's Note - plenty of players are being looked at}

02 Jan 2013 22:24:52
Luis got the glory but Henderson was outstanding. The midfield today looked solid from the start - Gerrard, Lucas and Hendo - and Id keep it that way against the mancs despite Allen looking threatening late on. Special nod to Pepe who dealt with the minimal threat exceedingly well, and also Mr Dowd who rarely made a bad call.

cozinoz

I personally have to say even thou i like allen as a player i think br should have saved the money have always been a fan of hendo and truly believe he will be a brilliant player in the future

Dowds decision to wave play on for Suarez 1st goal was outstanding.

02 Jan 2013 22:22:28
I Doubt it!

But their should be some heads held in shame
and some apologies to Young Lad called Jordan Henderson.
Who is now starting to look a proper player!

You Know Who You are or the eds could possibly even shame you!!

Lyndon

Even if he doesn't ever fully make it he never deserved the Foul abuse he got from alot on here!!

02 Jan 2013 22:16:28
liverpool at thier best today. if we make anfield a fortress again then who knows where we will finish, maybe even fourth.

Please don't start this again. Lets judge 4th closer to the end of season. A loss against United and it will be all doom and gloom again.

Agree if we can pick up some points this month with all the tough away games I do think we can make a real push for 4th. But we need to perform firstly against Utd.

02 Jan 2013 22:15:24
Looks like Chelsea are missing Sturridge already!

redmersey

02 Jan 2013 22:15:13
Henderson & Allen are good players we need patience sometimes they will get even better great result tonight, can we blindfold the entire Barcelona staff so they can't look at Luis!
Paisley's genius

02 Jan 2013 22:12:20
HI eds and fans, fantastic wonderful performance from the word go. Shame Allen did not get a goal and suarez did not get his hattrick. Over the moon hope this is the way of things to come, we all deserve a good new year.
Well done!!!!
hibsylfc
p.s would like to welcome sturridge to lfc

02 Jan 2013 22:12:09
Nice to see Liverpool win two games in row, however so far the season has been two 1 step fed two steps back, consistency has been a big issue, we have a momentum now and the next game in pl is against it'd at old Trafford, which will be a tough on to call on, lets hope we do our best and stun old Trafford by winning like we did in 09 1-4,

So far this season Suarez has score 15pl goals which is almost 50% of our goals this season and we are in this position mainly due to him, lets hope Sturidge signings will give us that extra which we have been missing specially when Suarez has his off days,

Lets aim for the highest position to finish this season, I'm sure everyone will feel we can finish top 4 but teams around us can get results when expected of them, we fail to take advantage, like we should have won against villa, I think Liverpool play very soft on many occasion that's why we have struggled to get results against smaller teams like stock, Everton WBA hope I'm not offending this teams but with our past history and results I still think we are bigger then these teams even though we have been very poor from past 3 seasons

02 Jan 2013 23:15:59
Its like evryone forgets wisdom is really a CB and so is kelly...

02 Jan 2013 22:11:52
Earlier in the season I was criticising Steven Gerrard and I was questioning whether he should be dropped or not. So can I just say that I think these last couple of months he as been superb and I believe that we are starting to see the real stevie again and would like to apologize for questioning him.

Mighty reds

Add my name to the list mate - I was doubting Gerrard before but he was immense today

cozinoz

I always thought that he was not suited to the pass and move style or tiki-taka of BR.

Now he seems to find himself back with his long range of passes by just being him.

so nice to see him back. wish he had not been injured for majority of the last season.

mgz

I was just like you.

Never doubt Mr Liverpool.

NY23

I'll hold my hands up, I doubted Gerrard's hunger more than anything earlier in the season, I have to say, I am soo glad I was wrong!

The real AG

02 Jan 2013 22:10:51
why does everyone think we're selling coates? do u expect us to play the rest of the season with 2/3 cb's... just think about it

He won't go unless we have a replacement. Still, can't understand why Jamie is getting cameos when we need to develop Coates.

We have more than 3 CBs lad.

Kopping a feel

I'd imagine there would be a replacement lined up, as well as possible young players coming into the first team.

Hans

Wisdom and kelly can also play cb

02 Jan 2013 22:09:29
Anyone think there may be a new signing of the season now with a certain somebody that the master brendon has brought in? Also we are class, just pure class at the moment with two impressive wins in last 2 games. gotta feeling if we keep this up next season we will be up there with united and could win the league.

Love the positivity but lets get through the next 5 and see where we are at (United, Norwich, Arsenal, City & West Brom I think).

02 Jan 2013 22:03:30
I thought that Henderson was great again tonight energy position vision and just looks like he desperately wants to be in a red shirt.

Thoughts?

Chris R

Ps happy new year the team the Eds and all reds

02 Jan 2013 22:02:50
Round of applause for Jordan Henderson! Him and Downing are starting to answer their critics! Well done to little Raheem, excellent goal! and Suarez....what can a guy say?? absolutely brilliant! hoping for the wins to continue but we need to stay humble and keep our feet on the ground, the next couple of games are very difficult and will test our strength!

02 Jan 2013 22:02:39
Is Sahin's loan getting terminated? And if it is, why?

02 Jan 2013 22:01:38
Unbelievably enough, I actually have absolutely nothing negative to say at all about the performance tonight. Pretty much brilliant by everyone and particularly I'd say Henderson and Downing were both very good.
Wish Allen's goal had counted though as think it would have given his confidence a bit of a boost. One big difference for me was we actually pressured the ball for the first time I can remember in a long while.

With respect to the stadium though, it seemed awfully quiet in there (maybe it was just the TV audio?)...

RDL

Fans are supposed to find positives to say... ur obvs not an LFC fan... get off!

03 Jan 2013 01:25:54
I wanted Glens to go in, the one where Gerrards shot took a deflection off his face! That would have been class!

02 Jan 2013 21:53:18
Hi Eds. Which position of the front 3 would you expect Sturridge to play in?

J-L {Ed052's Note - right attacker}

02 Jan 2013 21:59:33
I feel that I must have logged onto th e wrong site - there seems to be praise for players such as Gerrard, Downing and, dare I say it, even Henderson and Allen!!

Please remember, as I'm sure BR will say, it is a work in progress....and maybe it is a little too soon to say I told you so....check my previous posts....

RAFA first manager sacked 2013
red rrab

It would be another mistake by Chelsea and anyways who cares.

Koping a feel

How could that possibly be? - Chelsea probably the strongest squad all round squad in the PL - similar to the Inter Milan Squad in 2010, and maybe our own in 2009.

No way could any manager fail with that squad, not even the great Rafa - an FA Cup and CL winning team last season with the addition of Hazard and Oscar.

02 Jan 2013 21:57:36
Spectacular display tonight. Gerrard played like a masterful conductor of a well oiled orchestra. Good to see Allen playing further up, great effort by Henderson for the night. Am not so worried if Sahin leaves. Suarez has eyes in the back of his head !! ra1969

02 Jan 2013 21:56:41
Overall great performance tonight. The only criticism I can say is that wisdom has no technical ability, his passing was sloppy. But considering he's not a right back I can let that slide. Just find it ridculous how much praise hes getting for a fairly average performance. {Ed023's Note - Wisdom had a very tidy game}

He is a young lad learning his game give him a break!

NS

Wisdom was Liverpool's most accurate passer tonight, completing 96% of his attempted passes (47 attempted, 45 completed)

Joe

I thought he had an alright game, he did switch off a couple of times but then he's young and were dominating so it's easily done. Much prefer to put him RB than put downing LB.

Rk

He may not be another glen Johnson binge did his job, defended well, and played smart/safe

02 Jan 2013 21:55:16
ESPN reporting Joe Cole to West Ham is imminent.

02 Jan 2013 21:54:17

richard buxton says that suarez needs to keep playing like this on a more consistant basis, and that he hasnt been at his best since 2011. am i missing something? suarez has been consistantly awesome since we got him. eds what do u think?

LFC-IRE {Ed023's Note - Strange comments..}

Hopefully it means Suarez could somehow get better! Imagine that...

02 Jan 2013 22:01:18
Eds and reds,
Gary Hooper and Shane Long.
Who do you think is a better player?
Who do you think is more likely to come?

None of them will come

Hooper more likely, Long better.
Celtic got Hooper from Scunthorpe, same level as Celtic.

Neither of them are anywhere good enough.

02 Jan 2013 21:51:42
Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Calm, composed, completely dominated Sunderland from start to finish! Should have been 5-0 had Allen's goals been given. Hendo and Lucas were superb; Pepe getting back to his best, Gerrard is at his best & Suarez - my word, what a performance! MOTM! Absolutely world class! And with Sturridge signing, we are on the up!

Singred

Totally agree with all of that. And, importantly, a little bit of luck. Should of had one if the two disallowed goals. Don't the FA do sight tests any more? Reasons to be cheerful part 375!
ND

I thought 4 came after 3 and not 5.

Kidding mate, it was a gr8 performance. Wish we can do the same at dirty old whiskey noses ground.

mgz

The commentator also mentioned it would have been 5-0 had Allen's goals been given, and I was wondering if I had missed one of them? I saw the one at the end but wasn't it Johnson/Suso who had a goal ruled out earlier?

I struggled to find a good stream all game...

Hello to all Eds,
great that Liverpool begin to show some consistency. Here comes a streak of games which will show what is this team capable of this season - United, Arsenal and Man City. And they`re all away! 7 points would be fantastic!

You've banged your head haven't you? You'll be lucky to get 1 point.

AJH

AJH I except your premise but reject your hypothesis

Sheldon cooper

AJH must be a Chelsea fan - their having trouble getting 1 point at the moment :)

02 Jan 2013 21:51:05
Tonight's game is the only game this season (Bar QPR) I could agree with anyone who says we could have scored 7 or 8.

My God we could have scored 12 if i'm being honest!

Sterling should have had an extra goal, Suarez should have had 2 more, Johnsons goal should have stood, Gerard should have scored and Allen could have had 4 since he came on.

We battered them. We should have been playing like that more often this season, and beating teams we really should have.

A difficult 4-5 fixtures coming up now, beggining with Utd away...Hope we can get even a point from that. If we do, then I feel we might have turned the proverbial corner.

Two great results tonight.

Liverpool 3 v Sunderland 0.

and almost as enjoyable ( well nowhere near really )

Tinkermans Chelsea 0 v QPR 1.

Good decision Mr Benitez to rest Mata and Hazard - Mr Complacent strikes again - it's called respect RAFA, something you never had in your time at Liverpool.

John B {Ed023's Note - Rafa never had respect? Very harsh comment there..}

02 Jan 2013 22:02:47
Look within for lack of respect there, bro.

- Something Red -

Have u not seen rafas results over x mas perids with us and chelsea something like 3 loses and 1 draw in 7 seasons thats 21 to 25 games not bad but that is down to rotation

grego

DISGRACEFUL COMMENT ABOUT RAFA!!!

He is a decent man who has shed tears for the 96, shame on you. He is one of ours, just like Kenny

Tel 1949

£96.000 to the justice campaign I don't think you could accuse rafa of being disrespectful

He means respect to the other football club your playing ie QPR in the case, , , Ed, not the club LFC. I love his respect for our club but I didn't like it when he rested star players at home playing teams he thought would be a walk over only to lose or draw costing us the EPL...

Agree with Ed its a very harsh comment, and also untrue in my eyes.

Ashy

Look at his comments when he took over at Chelsea ! Saying he didnt mean to disresepct Chelsea fans as he was manager of Liverpool at the time. If I am honest he has a hidden agenda always thought that would never like to see him back at Anfield as manager.

And look where rotation got us - an FA Cup win on penalties in 6 years - the CL win was too early in his reign as our manager to be judged.
Forget the £96, 000 - it is like every Kopite putting 5p in a charity box - it's not even loose change to the man, most players/celebrities give time and money to charities including the JFT96, but they don't court the publicity - the sooner he sells his mansion - moves back to Spain - then LFC, and it's Rafa tinted glasses fans can move on.

To the predictably un-named poster and his vile comments regarding Rafa - you are a disgrace, with not a shred of empathy or respect.
ND

03 Jan 2013 07:53:02
we have some delusional fans! Would rather see Rogers football any day of the week over Benitez.

02 Jan 2013 21:49:14
If you saw the pass Gerrard made to Suarez for our 3rd, you'd be in awr. Magnificent. There are probably less than 5 players in the world who cld've done that.

No surprise that luis immediately pointed to Gerrard after the goal.

Anyway, can't wait to read the 'sack Brendan' posts. :)

Downings run made the space, he also deserves credit.

Eds... I've seen that there are quite a lot of reports of sightings of Villa, I'm always the first too completely dismiss the sighting rumours but there are too many to be coincidental albeit none of the posts are signed. Do you check IP addresses on posts to make sure there not from the same source?

The sightings rumours are what I like best about this site!

Deep down I know they're rubbish, but I still it!

I see Rafa got his tactics and team selection all wrong tonight, nothing new there then

Brilliant - at long last another realist on this site.

Think this comment is disgraceful. Your talking about a man who guided us to 2 champions league finals, Won 1 and the FA Cup, got our best league finished in donkey's years and all while battling awful owens! "no suprise there then"

Dont think we'd have beaten Real Madrid 4-0 over two legs or Barcelona 2-1 at the Nou Camp if its wasnt for that mans tactics!

Utterly bemusing

'Awful Owens' - love that spelling error

cozinoz

For all that was good about Rafa, and I respect him greatly, the OP is partly correct in that towards the end with us he made a lot of tactical and selection mistakes. Enough for him to rightly lose his job

Chris in Tamworth

I think u overrate Rafa's management and underrate Gerrards inpiring performances at the time...

I look forward to seeing Danny Sturridge banging a few in, Brendon's is our leader!! Unwanted

Hi eds
Why do you think Sturridge did not get the number 9 shirt? Was it his choice or is there a bigger name coming in who will get it?

Gerrard is really starting to find his role in BRs system. He's looked great lately. Allen actually looked real good in the more advanced role today, but hard to judge because the game was out of hand by then. However the Lucas-Gerrard pairing as the deeper midfielders looks really good. Right now Allen's role may be to back up both Gerrard and Lucas.

Suarez is playing as well as any striker in the league and now we have someone behind him who can be a solid striker when Suarez is out for whatever reason in Sturridge who can also play in one of the wide roles.

I personally thought henderson played better then gerrard.

02 Jan 2013 21:39:32
Maybe just maybe QPR aren't that bad we just made them look bad !

Yes, we made them look so bad, and now we've made Sunderland look so bad. Bring on United !
Northern Git

Maybe the defeat to us was the wake-up call

Well adrift at the bottom of the league, QPR are very poor. However, we did make Sunderland look poor, they didn't get a kick of the ball in the second half. Chasing shadows for prolonged periods of time is both physically exhausting and emotionally frustrating, it could be said we footballed them to death.Great result but it remains to be seen if we can do it to Man U !! Well done credit where it due looking good for 3 points, just 3 points behind arsenal!

Jumping the gun a bit aren't ye, we have been down this road so many times, even this season Rodgers was claiming the top two was in our sights after the last time we had two wins in a row, and look what happened then. I have lost count of how many false dawns we have faced. So I wouldn't be so hasty in making any unfounded judgement calls just yet mate, we need keep this up for the next six or seven games before we can even start to call it showing promise.

i think tonights midfield when its on song says a lot about why Sahin isnt getting a look in, Hendo all over the place again, more impressive than Lucas at the moment, wait till Lucas is fully fit!
If we played like this every week wed be ok,
Still need to tighten up at the back but looking good.

Faircloughs Twin

Although Henderson put in a shift tonight and played well, i still don't think he's as cultured a player as either Allen or Sahin.Tonight's performance would suggest the pairing of Lucas and Gerrard in the deeper positions with one of the three aforementioned in front.I think in the long run Rodgers preference will prove to be Joe Allen, mine would be Sahin (if he stays) leaving Henderson as a utility back up player.Hopefully Sahin will get a run of games and an opportunity to show what he can do.I think Sahin and Suarez close together is the way forward from a creative view point !! Why are people complaining that we signed Sturridge instead of Ba? Sturridge is a much better signing. Ba is older, wants much higher wages, ridiculous insurance costs hence more expensive in the long run and was only good for half a season, apart from that he was no good, plus he disappears for ACON. Sturridge is young, English, less wages, hungry and has huge potential.

Please post so fans can get a grip

Hendo is proving you wrong as we speak

cozinoz

02 Jan 2013 19:09:37
I've come around on Sturridge recently, I think he'll do well for us. He's not going to be played central, that's for Suarez. And he got about a dozen goals for Chelsea last year playing either side of a striker, plus his game time was limited. He could get around 15 goals a season? I wouldn't mind that. Maybe I have the Djibril Cisse fear, that a big-time charlie striker will come in and do okay, but ultimately come up short in the long-term.
I don't think a front 3 of Sturridge-Suarez-Sterling is Rodger's 'vision' for the future, Sterling won't start 38 games a season, he'll be rotated with another forward. I would think it would be more Sturridge-Suarez-*New forward*, possibly foreign, you never know if the wage bill is freed up someone like Villa could do that job. I wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers tries to go after a big name. Not in January, but if that standard of player is targeted in the summer it would be very difficult to pull off. Sturridge is a good and safe signing I feel, but it won't take just him to get us back to the CL places.
But overall, good signing and good luck to the boy.

Borini maybe?

Good to see Rodgers has learned quickly that Allen is not liverpool Quality. He is luxuary player which at the moment we can't afford he neither attacks or deffends one of the most overrated player in british history. People here need some medice especially comparing him with iniest and Xavi just shows some liverpool fans mentality.

And the fact that he leads the league in winning possession? Incredible successful pass rate? I dont think the problem is Allen as such, just that you cant play him and the current Gerrard in the same midfield, same as Sahin. We need that link player between the midfield and attack and Stevie just does not have the legs anymore. Hendo has been doing ok in that role of late though.

at first i was too impressed or excited about danial Struridge but now im actually very pleased with the singing, he can only get better and theres no doubt hes got talent, what worrys me is that hes english, now before you attack me here, m its very clear we have been signing alot of English players, and to be honest, not one of those costly signings have worked out, im just a big concerned that the board are getting too obsessed with buying brittish players who quite frankly are not that good.. like why did we go for struridge when ba had a release clause of 7 million? and a player who scores more goals? i dont see anything wrong with buying english players, danial could be great, sterling is one of our best players, but look at the rest, hendo, carroll, downing? and the thing about its is these players were bought for 16, 20 and 35 mil! theres sergio agureo , mata, spend a bit more and you have silva? big difference.. liverpool can go either way, they can keep buying enlish players who can cutit at the top, or buy these championship players such as ince who im not sure is guna get us intothe top four.. after all if our objective is top four finish, should we not be buying the best players available, that are good enough to play at that level, our 2009 team had few briitsh plays... and hey with a bit more luck we shuda won the league... just my view... your opions, ed and co?

I might be wrong but didnt BAs release clause only apply to champions league clubs.

Kopping a feel

Eds - I know you must be fed up - but can you print again for hopefully everybody to read that Bemba Ba's release clause was for CL teams only - I imagine the price Newcastle would quote for us would have been a hell of a lot more. {Ed001's Note - I have given up on that one, no one takes any notice unless they are reading something that suits them.}

Very sorry i didnt know the release clause was for cl clubs only, at the end of the day my point is were paying too much for players that are not worth it, they may be good players, but not worth the price payed, compared to what other players are going for... i was using ba as an excample

Tonight... Our most important game this season , so far.

For the premiership we have only once this season had a 2 match winning streak when we beat Southampton at home and then West Ham away (also beat Udinese in between) Tonight we have the chance to do that again and get some consistency and momentum building for the away trip at that town nearby the port of Liverpool.

Lets hope the excitement buzzing around the new transfer gives that extra edge to make the Great Anfield just that little bit louder , so just in case the 11 dont bring there A game today, we can force them to find it when times get tough.

Good Luck to our team, and wish us all a good year ahead, both as supporters and members of this community we all got going on in the caves of the internet. as always, special thanks to our Eds- we could not have done it without you

p.s. Before we demand of them to bring there A-Game , lets show them how its done and why we STILL ARE THE BEST SUPPORTERS IN THE WORLD, we also have the best club ;)

Sahin looked to be the coup if the window so he can't be blamed for that. Allen was never worth that money and borini will never be good enough to play for liverpool. Assaidi has look good when he played plus he was cheap but I really don't understand why they don't use him.

LFC is in a "transitional" period, BR does not have top £$£ to buy proven quality.

Yes buying young is a risk, it cost KD his job, but henderson is coming good at last ;) So if you look at BR's "young" signings I think that sturridge, allen, assaidi, yesil and ince(if completed) are all very astute purchases. Sahin has proved himself to be a bit soft, he was an emergency loan signing as there was no money in the pot so I wouldn't be judging BR too harshly on that!!

I mus have missed the details that you obviously have - exactly what was the cost of Sahins loan? - and please not the newspaper estimate, the one you obviously have inside knowledge of would be better. {Ed002's Note - The loan fee was £4.4M calculated at the time of the loan.}

As much as i'd love to, i can't argue with that...early days though mate

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach him how to fish and hell get fed up quickly and eat steak every day....thats why the seagulls follow the trawler I think ?

HENDERSON COMING GOOD?
what has he done recently?

he will never come good. by good i dont know what u mean im sorry he has done nothing!

Everyone is too busy loving up alonso, while in his first season he was far from impressive. Give them a chance, before you be so negative.

Half a season in, give the younger players a bit of time eh? Took terry mcdermott 2 years & ray Kennedy 3 years to really settle I know football has changed but some players are always going to need time, & come on the reds for tonight!! Y.n.w.a jft96

All you muppets moaning about Daniel Sturridge need to check your heads!
A front 3 of Sterling, Suarez and Sturridge is going to destroy defences. Theres some mouth watering potential there you have to admit! And with Ince iminent and Borini on the mend and Assaidi and Downing I think our attacking options are looking are on the up.

so chin up you whinging minnies :D

EVENING ALL

I confirmed on here several weeks back that we were actively looking to bring in three players, advising that our first would be concluded before the 6th jan and would be a striker from England/ holland.

I also mentioned that the other 2 signings will be towards the latter part of the window with a global footballing household name imminent. My source said this would be after jan 25th with the US owners in liverpool to present the big signing to the club.

This will again be a forward and I have it on good account that this will be a player from either Italy / Spain.

Eds- please confirm the original post and feature this latest post so we can track the progress vs the aforementioned.

keep eyes out Kopites !!

YNWA *****

So said several weeks ago that we would sign a striker which was pretty obvious. And now your saying we will sign someone else...

Anyone know any good streams for tonight's game?

I always get a good stream from firstrow mate with usually 6 or 7 links to choose from

I'm just going to put this out there....
I'm delighted with the signing off sturridge

I think this guy can become a class better , and he's far better than anyone other we have bar saurez.

You look at how much Wickham went to Sunderland for , and we have ourselves a bargain.

LAVERS

Wickham as far as I remember went for something like 8M and he was in his teens at the time

How does that make wickham an expensive buy and sturridge at 23 good value for money?

Because Wickham is average

Sturridge more average than Wickham

02 Jan 2013 18:30:20
according to ...

liverpool spurs and chelsea WERE interested in w.sneijder. but all scared off by wage demands. u could get him on a free transfer. but after tax he is on 150k euros. and according to them only recently liverpool made a very serious offer of 3m euros per year. but thats only about 80k per week come on liverpool this is depressing how bad were getting........ small club

We shouldn't be paying out crazy wages for old players anyway. If we are going to invest in a traditional number 10 then Isco and eriksen are younger better and not crazy wages.

Not newspaper talk is it? - or does your inside knowledge have the full details?

Id rather be a 'small' spending club that exists, then one with an ego that goes bankrupt.

02 Jan 2013 18:18:01
I think Sturridge will be a tremendous buy for us.
Think the lad wants to prove all his 'doubters' wrong, and make a absolute point, and will give 100% plus... Or so I hope.
Good luck Daniel, welcome to LFC.

I've got a good feeling about Daniel Sturridge. Welcome to LFC!

I didn't buy for some reason I do now.

02 Jan 2013 18:13:22
What was BR thinking, signing Sahin on loan then less than 6 months later wanting to be rid of him (to trim the wage bill).
Really what is up with the management of LFC, do they really have a clue.
Its just a absolute joke.

Your the joke, you have no idea!!

Nice positive post - I do hope you don't live in a glass house - you must be one of those individuals that has never made any sort of mistake in life, and this MAY be a small mistake in Liverpool's history.
Am I wrong in assuming that you must be in the know what is going on behind closed doors to come to your conclusion, or do you believe everything you read on the internet.

John B

The actions borne out by the MGT. of LFC perove they are Pi**ing in the wind and thats always a dangerous thing especially if you want to stay dry!

Hi eds, is it true that Sturridge contract is for 3, 5 years?? RedKo {Ed052's Note - yes}

02 Jan 2013 18:10:36
Hi Eds, glad to hear we signed sturridge, but I hear they gave given him the number 15 shirt, does that mean they have someone else lined up for the number 9 shirt?

Thanks Greg

10 and 9 will probably held out for the summer.

02 Jan 2013 18:10:09
Happy with the signing of Daniel Sturridge and wish him all the luck at LFC. I think he'll link up well with Suarez. Really looking forward to seeing a front 3 of Suarez (class), Borini (workhorse) and Sturridge(goal getter) a good combination which could work really well and at last not looking too shabby on the bench especially if we can bring in at least one more decent player.
Any way first things first we need the 3 points tonight.
Was watching the players in the tunnel before the QPR game, you could tell they were really focused, same again tonight boys.

Hi Eds

Not really a rumour just looking for your opinion. Do you think Ince will be good? Seems strange letting him go for 250k 18 months ago. Is he just an over performer? {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

02 Jan 2013 18:03:12
To eds and anyone else who can viably answer?

Even though Sturridge will not play tonight as the club has confirmed I have a question

Would he theoretically be permitted to play? because he has completed his medical and everything already

Thanks, hoping for a much appreciated answer

SR

No. You have to wait 24 hours from the time the paperwork is completed.

Otherwise you get cramp.

02 Jan 2013 17:54:49
As Sturridge has been training with the squad the last few days / week, do you think he'll play tonight Ed's?

02 Jan 2013 17:20:07
Chelsea fan here IMO Studge could be world class, he has 2 problems one he thinks he's already the best player in the world a little like balotteli but not half as bad , second he is very very greedy , he's played about 65 odd games and scored 12 goals, I've seen him loads of times get to the bye line and shoot at stupid angles when there's 2/3 players screaming in the box, but he has bags of pace and the odd trick , not really a naturall finisher and all left footed, but if Rodgers sorts out his selfish side and gets him enjoying playing then you got a top top player, could easily be in the top 3 best strikers in the league, and England's main number 9, and the 12 million would be a bargin, wish him all the luck in the world and hopes he fulfills his potential , , ,

02 Jan 2013 21:49:52
tho'ght id say thanks for that, it was a nice thing to do

We all sho'ld do things like that more offen

Oh god, he's only signed and he's already startin to annoy me. Sturridge, you better score a "HUMONGOUS" amount of goals

Welcome

What a lovely warm welcome, Mr Sturridge must be so pleased to have the 'best fans in the world' watching his back!!

Oh get a grip, I thought his first interview was pretty good. How can you judge him off repetitive questions asked for lfc.com Just give the guy a break, he hasn't stepped on the pitch and you're already moaning

02 Jan 2013 17:42:39
More important than what god damn number jersey Sturridge will wear, the game tonight.
3 points tonight and we'll overtake Stoke and Swansea and will only be 2 behind West brom who this time last week were 8 ahead of us, , Arsenal dropped points yesterday too and hopefully Everton will to the same this evenin.

Come on Brendan and the Boys, best of luck tonight, lets have a bit of consistency and get a few wins in row

I look forward to us climbing the table in 2013 (oh, and welcome Sturridge, hope you prove me wrong)

Zarate anyone Lazio have said he can go if someone pays £5m, he did very well at Birmingham and knows the Epl so would be good at that price

BigD

I'd personally rather not. Anyone watching serie a might be able to help us with his form but it doesn't sound like he's been doing all that well (just from reading haven't seen him since he left epl).

I thought he was handy at birmingham but not consistent enough and i'd see him as more of a liability in the dressing room and not good enough on the pitch so waste of time imo.

I prefer the idea of signing less players and just focus on signing better quality. Use the youngsters for the squad then....

sean ireland

02 Jan 2013 17:41:12
Adam Szalai could be a great deal for us, he is a superb striker and is one of the top goalscorers in the Bundesliga. Still only 25 as well and has carried Mainz in the Bundesliga this season on his shoulders. He has got a great international record too with 7 goals in 14 matches. Mainz are also prepared to sell him for just 4/5 Million pounds. Are you aware of any interests from Liverpool Eds? {Ed002's Note - No.}

02 Jan 2013 17:39:21
Sturbridge in, next please Fsg, LFC, Mr, Ayre

02 Jan 2013 17:38:48
If Daniel Sturridge has taken the number 15, who will wear the number 9 shirt??

Maybe Kevin Prince Boateng or David Villa??

02 Jan 2013 17:38:40

02 Jan 2013 17:34:27
Do you think one of the reasons we will allow Sahin to leave is because Henderson is starting to look like a real player.

I have been impressed with Henderson lately and looks like he may get chance to stay at LFC as a squad player if he keeps on improving.

Steve068

I'd say the combination of Henderson overtaking Sahin in the pecking order and then someone going hey wait a minute how much are we paying this Sahin lad he hasn't done a whole pile...

But ya I like Henderson I'd def keep him and play him with Lucas with one in front.

sean ireland

02 Jan 2013 17:31:44
Does anybody know what price LFC would have paid for Sturridge if they had done the deal last summer?

Just wondering if the wait was worth the saving or if his inclusion in the squad would have been more valuable.

I'm well aware it doesn't matter now. Just interested.

Len {Ed002's Note - There was no price last summer as Liverpool only enquired about a loan.}

02 Jan 2013 17:28:31
Eds there is a difference in opinion, one says yet again only liverpool would pay 12m for sturridge and then others say he is a great addition to our squad to link with suarez with there gifted qualitys. Whats your view good buy or overpriced again? {Ed002's Note - I would not worry too much about the money.}

The only thing that I would say is FSG have just dropped another rubbish load of money in the club , because I couldn't drop £12 million on my first day back to work after xmas

That would of been a lot of Big Macs for you to sell on your first day back at the drive-thru!!

Now go away

Lyndon

02 Jan 2013 17:26:15
Another potential regular international added to the squad.

This lad has had one real chance and in my opinion, took his chances whilst on loan at Bolton.

He needs games....and will get them at our club.

Patience is needed for all aspects of the re-building process, including this signing.

I'm sure he knows a few of the lads through the England set-up which must help.

So, less of the 'ego' comments and Chinese whispers. If it's true that the players (and Captain) have been asked about Sturridge prior to the signing and arrival, then that's good enough for me.

Some people have commented that he is a selfish player etc etc which has no relevance as the club require a player to get on the end of things, which hopefully he will.

DaveyBootle

02 Jan 2013 17:07:07
Why does everyone seem so surprised that Sturridge is no. 15? I don't find what's wrong with the number.

beca'se there is less press're on n'mber '5 than say n'mber ' or ''.

Sturridge Suarez Sterling attack, not bad at all.

Minus sterling. Hes a winger front three should be attackers amd i class sterling as a winger

Better than the newcastle Carroll, the Villa downing and the LFC suarez

Sorry i thought wingers were attackers?

My one concern about Sturidge more than anything else is that he's got to improve on that his 'little dance' goal celebration, as I hope he shall be celebrating so often. Though I can't stand his little dance, but wouldn't mind if the goals keep coming - I'll be used to it somehow.

we've now signed sturridge but why will he where the
shirt number 15 instead of 9, 17 or 20.

Because BR has reserved the number 9 shirt for Cavani

Dont mess with him dude, you know what some of these lot are like, you'll spend the rest of the night explaining yourself

Erm!! Probably because Carroll is No 9 even though he is out on loan it's still his squad shirt ;(((( you people are crazy , expecting us to sign the likes of Cavani or Falcao.... Give ure heads a wobble ;))))))

Ya with Carroll no 9 and not yet sold what would you have said if Sturridge had taken the no 17 or no 20 shirts?.... Pointless post really don't see why people get worked up over nothing

Now sturridge has signed when will he be available for selection, I know it can take a couple of days for paperwork to be approved but would that of been done prior to the official unveiling? Any chance of a place in the squad tonight or will it be the weekend before he gets his chance

Welcome to Liverpool Daniel, just hope the fans get behind him to help him settle and hopefully be a success, paired with Suarez could be a great combination up top

MikeCass

He has a number. He will be 15.

Might be wrong, but i think the squad has to be announced 24hours in advanced usually. This might be different during the transfer window though. Since I do remember suarez being cleared to play the next day, but that might be work permit related.

Sturridge is no available tonight. Read the interview on the LFC website.

He will be paraded though and watch from the stands. So if any fans have thought of songs already get the sang anyways :) lets get the atmosphere back at anfield

02 Jan 2013 16:24:38
front three of sturridge borini suarez would be good borini isnt a left winger and suarez has amazing skill so he could play on the left really brendan you think you know borini if you did youd play him as a striker

I would like to see Suarez as the Att Mid playing off Borini with Sterling left and Sturridge Right. Gerrard & Lucas in the midfield. pretty strong line up in my opinion

K-Man

Suarez Sturridge and a proper number 9 would be good. Borini is useless

02 Jan 2013 16:21:10
Welcome to our club daniel sturridge I as a liverpool supporter will back you 100% as long as you give 100% while playing for us. I will not judge you on your past but what you do while playing for us.

Lil Red

What do you mean ''judge you on your past'' ?

02 Jan 2013 16:09:21
anybody think sturridge should play on the wing now as suso and shelvey are more attacking mid players and sterling is able to starrt that many games lets hope for another forward and a great second half of season

4-3-3 in the style Rodgers favours doesn't work like that. The front three rotate round between themselves continually shifting position so that defenders become uncertain as to whether they should mark the man or mark the space. Personally I expect the front three to finally be Sturridge, Suarez and - believe it or not Yesil. All capable of playing central or either side, all ball players and capable with both feet.

Suso an attacking midfielder i never see him running forward with the ball only passing the ball back annoying at times

Second poster is spot on. You don't play 4-3-3 with wingers you play with 3 forwards and I agree with his line up

Suso is at his best playing in a free role in midfield. Anyone that watched him through the academy will know this.

Doesn't, it depend on the player? There are wingers who can play 433. What's the dif?
Les

Hi eds im not one who reads to much into things like suarez being in a picture with gaston ramirez and all that crap but with the no. 9 still available do you expect a striker to come in. I know sturridge ince and someone on loan is what ed002 thinks but do you expect the loan to be a striker/midfielder or even one similar to sturridge and suarez that can inter-change? {Ed002's Note - I honestly think you are reading too much in to shirt numbers.}

Ed002 - I agree. A lot of people still think along the lines that 9 is a centre forward, 10 is a playmaker etc etc. The number bears no relevance to the position they occupy anymore other than the goalie is usually number 1 and a lot of players don't like 13 but some do.

Did you not watch being Liverpool where he had a long conversation with Allen over which number he wanted and which suited him

Hard to imagine Roy Race wearing anything but the 9 shirt and Blackie Gray the No 10 for Melchester Rovers Ahh!

02 Jan 2013 15:51:02
the signing of sturridge is good news imo it will help suarez alot take the pressure of him and now we got a striker the defences have to worry bout sturridge aswell as suarez so more space for suarez to have as defenders only had to worry bout him now watch suarez score more goals and set up sturridge super news tim ynwa

Totally agree: put Borini in there with them, he'll work his socks and drag defenders all over the pitch and we've got it sorted.

02 Jan 2013 15:50:25
Andy Carroll is still our player, we have not sold him yet. It would be really disrespectful to fill his shirt number before we have even sold him.

Aye its reserved for the shock return of voronin.
derryred

Meireles was given Aquilani's number even when he was still our player. so the arguement on Andy Carroll is invalid i guess.

Derryred, be careful
You may get your wish with clowns like ayre in charge of transfers.

Aquilani and Meireles were different to Sturridge and Carroll. Aquilani although on loan was clearly never going to play for this club again. Carroll could still have a future here.

Well if they're all sent relatively close to each other and it's a while before an update....

But then surely you would realise everyone will know that he's signed? Make a comment on it don't just say he has signed. So you use your loaf kidda

Did any one hear that sturridge signed.

02 Jan 2013 15:35:32
There is an interesting article in / on The Mirror's website ref: the impending signature of Sturridge.
It's few lines at the bottom ref Tom Ince that really caught my eye.
They claim that it's 6M fee for the lad as we (LFC) have a 35% sell on clause in the lads contract due to us selling to them for nominal fee that we did for a such a young British talent (250k)?
This will make the net cost some near the 4m mark.
Just wondering if anyone else thinks this makes sense?

Markolfc

Sounds like they knew exactly what they were doing when they let him go. Thats a pretty solid arrangement making it easier for him to return to us than it is to go somewhere else. Another bidder would have to value him 35% higher than we do.

02 Jan 2013 15:34:22
Eds everyone is thinking that its a sign of new signing because Sturridge is not no. 9 but can you give the number of a player loaned out away? Because isn't Carroll still our no.9?

02 Jan 2013 15:50:11
exactly.
Benny baller

Yes you can. Aqua was No.4 nd went on loan nd meires came in and was given the number.

Red Rout

But did Aqua play for us that season?
it may have been allocated but never used.
K-Man

Torres was the number 9 the season Carroll joined, he could take the number 9 for the premier league but he couldn't for Europe and used the number 29 I think

Red Raw

Depends if the player was registered in the 25 for the league

Is Sturridge Available for tonight's game??
Cheers {Ed019's Note - Doubt it}

02 Jan 2013 15:24:23
Ed Is it possible we could get a quality no 9 this transfer window {Ed002's Note - I have no idea who you might be referring to.}

02 Jan 2013 15:23:38
hope he scores tonight

02 Jan 2013 15:22:08
Hope that keeps a few persons quiet...One day in and a striker signed.....and dont complain, weve needed a greedy finisher now we have one,
seems to be a few comments coming out of Dortmund about how theyd take Sahin back if he wanted to go, a lot of Nuri rumours at the mo, dont think hes had a real chance myself but maybe Rodgers sees someone else coming in as a better alternative....hope so.
Onwards and Upwards Reds!
Faircloughs Twin

If Nuri Sahin was aloud to return to Dortmund I would have to seriously question Brendan Rodgers logic.Sign a player on loan at considerable expense, not play him, then let him leave ?? I hope not, i would like to believe Rodgers sees Sahin in his long term plans.Lets hope we can sign him permanently and give him the play makers role, the guys a class act !! Beardsley's Boot's {Ed002's Note - I don't see that happening.}

02 Jan 2013 15:19:33
Just got a pic of Sturridge holding No 15 shirt

Looks very real

02 Jan 2013 15:18:26
Just a little more info i have come across that is interesting, BR has been extremely impressed by Henderson and really likes him as a player, i really doubt he will be sold in January if at all now

LFC93

Henderson has taken a while to settle, but is now getting better and better. RED LENIN

02 Jan 2013 15:16:24
Sturridge to wear number 15. Does that leave from for a special number 9 ??

02 Jan 2013 15:14:54
nothing exciting but west brom and cardiff are after flanagan on loan

02 Jan 2013 15:17:26
Eds do you expect Sturridge to play against Manchester United on the 13th? Could possibly come off the bench. {Ed052's Note - yes, im sure he will be}

02 Jan 2013 15:17:23
Welcome to LFC Daniel Sturridge. I am very happy with this signing.

Now Sturridge has signed can he play in tonight's game against Sunderland? {Ed019's Note - He's not likely to play. He'll probably be introduced to the Kop}

Would be best for him to make his debut on the 7th in the cup to get it out of the way. Making a debut against Manchester United at Old Trafford is heavy.

02 Jan 2013 15:16:50
Sturridge has signed long term contract . Will wear number 15 shirt

02 Jan 2013 15:12:48
Danny boy will wear#15

I think people need to remain positive and keep faith in Brendan. Ok, its obvious our position in the league is not were we would like to be but you need to take into consideration everything thats going on. First of all, many of these players (almost all of them) Brendan did not purchase. People might say a good manager shouldn't blame his tools or something like that but when you have the likes of 'Joe cole', Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll to name but a few, who have never pulled there weight on massive wages then I think you can give him some leeway.

Many of the players don't have the quality we require, and it is extremely difficult to sell them and get them off the big fat check the receive every week. Because of this Brendan has had to look to the younger players like sterling (Who has now become a first team player after having a few average performances) This shows the lack of quality we possess in the squad. Though sterling will be a good player, he doesn't have what it takes to do it NOW I believe.

From the start I've always thought 4th place would be a bit ambitious for us to achieve with the squad we have. Obviously thats were i would like us to be, and many other fans before we can even start to think about competing for the league again.

I personally think 6th is the best possibility this season, and i think that would be a good result considering the lack of depth, and youth in the squad. And this will set a good benchmark for coming seasons. Brendan has always faced a extremely tough task since he arrived so we really need to get behind him and the main will deliver. We have been waiting for a long time but a bit more patience is what we need. It will be interesting to see how sturridge fits in and that will give us a real indicator of were we are and what we can achieve in the near future.

Sorry for the long post, haven't posted in months! Now come on best fans in the world, stay united and back the vision. cheers

Danny

Congrats on signing to day Danny

Haha that was just typical Danny Sturridge signed today :)

Rodgers has bought players but they haven't set the league on fire or some have failed and buying sturidge will take closer to 50M that what Rodgers has spent

Allen-17M - haven't contributed anything for LFc neither passes ball foward or neither protects our Centre backs. Personally thought lucas coming will help Allen moveing foward but yet has failed

Sahin-(loan)7m - has failed miserably that even tantrums has already start from the player

Borini-12M - what can I say about borini neither success or failure he played as right foward for swansea and scored goals to help their promotion but Rodgers tried the same trick which failed before he got injured. Worry is the lad fails to score goals from 6 yards which is frightening

Assaidi-3m- never gets look from Rodgers despite sterling needs rest which is shocking to me

Sturridge-12-15M- not convince the lad needs 11-12 chances to score goals. But everything will be clear once he starts playing for us then will know how good he is or how bad.

Rodgers will be in extensive pressure if his signings don't show improvement especially buying sturridge and wanting
ince. Means he has spent more then 50M in transfer market our 2nd half run in epl will be in microscope not only in fans eyes but even in media and owners eyes. Owners will be expecting huge improvements after spending their 50M.

i

Jesus Christ! Let the lad put his boots on before you condemn him to failure!

Agree Mate

BR Signings are no better than than last 4 managers

02 Jan 2013 15:01:50
U look at spurs chelsea man utd arsenal man city very rarely do they buy english how cone we only sign english it is terrible why dont we learn

Borini Allen Suarez etc etc

02 Jan 2013 15:14:31
Borini, Allen, Suarez, Coates, Enrique, Adam, Assaidi...should we carry on?

Actually they do have quite a few english players.
Spurs-Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Lennon, Parker, Huddelstone, Defoe and Bale who counts as British.
Man U - Jones, Smalling, Rio, Carrick, Scholes, Cleverly, Young, Rooney, welbeck plus Fletcher(scot) Giggs(welsh)

So yh I would like some foreign flair fron spain or south america

But I don't care if their english or ethiopian its about a players quality

Love the handle f5. I'm guessing thats related to how u use this site?

02 Jan 2013 15:00:52
Im sorry but why the hell are we interested in ince he is not ready. Hes has been terrible last 3 games since we became public he missed penalty last week he is not a player who is going to take us to next level. I read a decent post about how come summer there will be so much value across europe because how italy and spanish clubs have basically said everyone is for sale. There struggling so much. And that english clubs in this summer the tv rights is 3bn biggest ever and we get the funding this year and that this will be a high spending summer for english clubs. So surely for 7m there is more value out there than ince? Sturridge is a risk but ince is high risk come summer there will be more value abroad so our scouts need to get working to make sure this summer is not another failure. And no blooming english players there is so much more value abroad and the days were foreign imports take time to adapt has changed it is becoming easier to adapt. Eg michu cazorla silva ivan ramos all spanish who always we said cant adapt

02 Jan 2013 14:55:19
Who else would be upset if we lost Coates? I really like the guy he's scored a few goals as well conserving how many he's played! Not to mention that wonder goal. Think the guy would be quality to keep he just needs more game time in like the fa cup and Europa

Red twist

I like Coates and I worry about BR's ability to recognise quality. I would definitely be weening him into the team

As much as I do like Coates it is going to be hard for him to break into our team with Å krtel and agger. I think changing to 3 cb's at times would be a good idea but just hasn't happened often enough.

I'm sorry but I disagree with you I don't think Coates is fast enough for the BPL and despite his height he doesn't feel like an aerial threat. Also i'm not sure he fits into Rodgers footballing style which is mainly why they want to send him out on loan or sell him. I think a loan is more likely though.

02 Jan 2013 14:51:26
like a lot of fans on here we cant understand SD at left back , we have proper defensive options instead , so why does BR not use these options , , Coates could play at left back , or he could move into the middle and have agger at left back because he has played there before and he loves to get forward , i dont know about robbinson not getting games , is he injured ? but any of the above mentione has to be better than SD , does anyone have any other options other than SD

Hi guys just saw the FIFA club world rankings and Liverpool arnt even in the top 40 everton are lol it's a shame

Yeah just took a look everton tott Basel shaktar are all rated higher wtf?

But have they ever been top? These are the questions you got to ask yourself. We came, we saw and we conquered. Hopefully we'll do it again.

02 Jan 2013 14:47:22
West ham made first movw for joe cole so looks like maybe three way fight with reading and qpr gut feeling is he may just want money. If i would put my neck on the line i expect him to want qpr and a reunion with redknapp but dont forget letting him go is going to cost us so dont forget these costs when counting how much wev spemt.

So we can loan a player that we have on loan? Jesus, think before you spout carp.

Person look ur self went loaned out pachecho to spanish side they then loaned him to racing so yes u can loan him

How can you loan out someone you've loaned. You don't own them, maybe you meant he'll go back to Madrid who will then loan him out again?

Hi Eds,
Ba to Chelsea! Good for Liverpool, Chelsea know how to spend big and get little out of it. So does LFC just to mention Big Andy...

Its what rafa does , remember degen , aquallani and may many others

That combined..will be just equal to one andy caroll and you can add if necessery downing...
55 milll

I feel Chelsea are going to come on strong after their buys this month.
Don't underestimate Rafa. I'd be happy if they do. You lot really want another trophy in Fergies cabinet? Fickle to say the least.

You can do it arsenal;)

02 Jan 2013 14:23:34
Daniel Sturridge to be at Anfield tonight! Believe that the best realistic possible signing would be Jack Butland, need some competition for Pepe. How likely is the Butland deal to happen??

Why do people keep going on about this Butland move? It's clear Pepe needs competition, the annoying thing is he has it. Liverpool have two sub 'keepers who are wasted on the bench while Butland should not yet be a Premier League starter.

02 Jan 2013 14:10:05

Liverpool looking to terminate sahin loan as real Madrid are prepared to let alonso leave due to stalemate with contract renewal lfc is his preferred destination. lfc also looking to bring villa in on loan (paying fee with option to buy) the owners are prepared to back quality and hope to push into top 4 watch this space...

02 Jan 2013 14:08:59
Ed's any news on Ince i've heard that Liverpool have submitted a bid which was rejected and they have now pulled out of sending a new offer? Have we now dropped interest and looking at other targets? {Ed052's Note - theres nothing newon Ince, but I wouldn't be surprised if we had moved on becuase a deal couldn't be agreed}

02 Jan 2013 14:01:23
Eds I know you dont like these types of questions. But what kind of wage is Sahin on at the moment? Over 100k? {Ed052's Note - im not sure, but probably not no. Its not a topic for discussion either}

02 Jan 2013 14:00:52
hi eds people keep talking about lfc and villa which is aload of bs but what about moussa sow younger cheaper and knows where the net is could he be a possibility {Ed052's Note - doubt it. Idont know of Liverpool interest }

02 Jan 2013 13:59:45
I like Rodgers but if he plays Downing at left back again tonight then I wash my hands of him. Hes cost us goals playing there and if Rodgers hasn't learned from previous results then hes not the manager for us. {Ed052's Note - who would you play at left back?}

Jack Robinson for me, but he seems to be away in hiding with Assaidi and co.

K-Man {Ed052's Note - he hasnt played enough recently to come in to such a tough game}

Robinson he keeps saying younger players are goin to be given a chance and id prefer to have robinson at lb then downing

I would put Agger in at left back and put Coates on

Ryan McLaughlin {Ed052's Note - not a chance}

Wisdom at right back and Johnson at left back for me! This is a must win game for us to make Anfield a fortress once again for the year 2013 and put 2012 behind us!

02 Jan 2013 14:38:26
Johnson or Agger left back with Wisdom at right

Glen on the left, wisdom on the right, those two havn't let us down when they have played there before!

john

Wisdom into rb with johnson moving over bring lucas back in tonght for allen aswell

I've just left my job, enrolled on a BA in classic histories and decided to rent a room out to a lovely young female who could be the one. But even if she's not it will help make up some of the short fall in money.

How about that for starting a new year and blowing out the cobwebs? 29 going on 18 and i've just decided to start a 6 year plan to become a history teacher/lecturer.

All i need now is Sturridge and a few more players to come in and do a job for my beloved Liverpool and then 2013 will have been the perfect
start. Be inspired reds.

Hi everyone!
Let's say Sneijder would have to choose between LFC and Spurs.
1) Do you think he'll sign for us?
2) Are we willing to pay his high wages?
3) Do Spurs pay better wages than LFC?
Esna

Spurs would force the move and pay whatever to get their player. We would buckle at the knees and sign Routledge

Free agent Ricardo Quaresma has been offered to Liverpool.

The former Chelsea and Barcelona winger is available after a release from his Besiktas contract last month.

Quaresma's agent, Jorge Mendes, has been in contact with Liverpool to make them aware of the Portuguese's availability.

He was good at Porto, failed at Barca, Inter(twice) Chelsea and now Besiktas have cancelled his contract.
No thanks!

02 Jan 2013 13:34:09
Hi

No rumour news - just a concern. One of the positives so far this season has been young players introduced into the team. The danger of bringing in too many new players is that Suso, Sterling and Jonjo in particular will get a lot less game time. Centreback cover would seem to be a priority, especially if Coates moves (when is Kelly expected back)

Agree with posts that a quality attacking and goalscoring midfielder is required as Gerrard drops deeper - thought JonJo was looking good for that slot but may take a few years, if ever

02 Jan 2013 13:21:20
From a good source.
Redknapp has enquired about taking Coates on loan for the rest of the season as well as making an offer for Joe Cole.
We are trying to do some sort of deal for Sneijder but his wages are a huge problem, might have to settle for a loan for now.
We will not pay 16m for Villa but are interested at the right price even though he is 31 yrs old.FSG will make an exception to their transfer policy if it can be done at the right price as BR wants him and he wants to play with Suarez.
Hopefully more to info' to follow.
Great site, keep the rumours flowing.

I would agree with the coates and cole rumours but villa will not come to liverpool he might want to play with suarez but suarez would have to make the move to spain

The 001 man, if you're about :
If, and I mean a big f off if, Sneijder were to come in on 200k odd per week, what would happen to LFC's wage structure - I remember you saying Stevie G had a contract clause that he had to be the top earner ?
This Sneijder thing is surely FUBAR.

i personally think br should really give ac a chance next season he would add a bit of strength to our attack after all he showed last season he can throw his weight around not many players can say they bossed terry around plus it seems br has give every other player except ac a chance. i know some of you will say he doesnt fit our style of play etc but lets be honest how well has that worked for us so far we need a plan b and ac could well be that and if we're all honest br's transfers have been hugely disappointing. btw im not calling for br's head i think he will be a very good manager in the future but someone needs to give him a reality check in respect to having a plan b as plan a is just not working

Another plan B...

02 Jan 2013 12:21:47
The idea that we would sign David Villa is nothing short of ludicrous. Whilst he may be a quality goal scorer, the transfer fee required, the wages package required and his age (31) and the fact he is coming back from a serious injury make this a non starter which goes entirely against the philosophy FSG are instilling. As well as a couple of more expensive signings hopefully BR will able to pick up a couple of talented players for more modest fees and wages. The reality is however that he will find this harder to do at LFC than at Swansea. Anyone entering into negotiations with us tend to add an extra 0 to a players purchase price as do agents when negotiating their salaries. Had we gone in for Michu he would have cost us much more than the £2m Swansea paid for him. Each transfer window we tend to snap up a talented youngster and my hope is that we sign Will Hughes from Derby. With a bit of luck Nigel Clough will gives us an advantage over other teams interested in him. Reality Red

02 jan 2013 11:31:36
we hold the gold for inter milan

inter want sahin, we want sneijder. if sahins loan gets cancelled and joe cole moves on 90 grand a week
and sahins wages pay for sneijder to come in both clubs get what they want

Why would snjieder want to come and play for liverpool, when not in the champs league, this is why Suarez will be off soon. Sorry but I'm right

Wrong about Suarez, he loves us to much!

With Sahin and Cole off the wage bill it could save 200k a week ... fingers crossed.

Suarez will go if no CL is likely in next few years...

Inter aren't in the champions league, they're in the Europa league like us, but this transfer is still very unlikely.

As if Sneijder actually cares about CL, hes clearly in the game for the money. Pay him and hell play don't and he wont, simples.

'He loves us too much' - I've heard this before from a Spaniard now wearing blue.

Heard Spurs are looking at Damiao and Willian. Wow, there are looking at some real quality while we bought Sturridge and looking at Ince who is a championship player. Says it all about our ambitions really!

Indy Kevin {Ed052's Note - but they might not sign them. If they did, they may not fit in, play well etc. It was only in the summer we targetedDamiao remember}

Ed..thats crap..
diamo and willian will fit in any type of play...
theya re not downing, henderson and andy caroll..
we are talking about quality here... {Ed052's Note - how do you know they would fit in. You dont. No transfer is safe and 100% going to worl}

I'm with the Ed!
How many players have come to the premiership and not looked half the player they were!

Hes saying it's not "Guaranteed" they will do well

Lyndon

Ed, didn't you see Willian dominated the Chelsea midfield in the champions league and scored two goals while Sturridge was doomed on the bench!
We need players of Suarez ilk and Willian would certainly add that creativity and goals to the side!

Indy Kevin {Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs and Juventus have all shown an interest in Willian. Last January Chelsea backed off from buying the player as Shakhtar were looking for 35M euros for the player - the same figure that scared off Spurs in the summer. Liverpool has not shown any interest and would need to sell to raise the sort of funds he would cost.}

Shevchenko was rated highly when he came to the BPL look how he turned out.

It's a fact. No transfer is guaranteed to be a success no matter how "high profile" of a signing it is. The list is long > Juan Veron, Jo, Aqualani, Robinho, Torres (for Chelsea), Carroll, Shevchenko. All multi-million pound flops (for whatever reason). Geeee - look !! Two of those guys were/are ours. You'd think we'd learn by now !! ra1969

Schevchenko is one of my all time favourite players who will ever forget the miss from 2 yards and then the penalty....i love him so dont call him a flop

graf2966

Schevchenko was a flop now he's just an old fart, apologies graf2966 the truth hurts...

So whats ur point...
the player which we dont sign....infact we cant sign might be uselsee??

02 Jan 2013 11:25:18
are we still interested in hoarau from psg? heard something today about him being in talks with everton over a loan deal with a permanent move in the summer, i know hes not top class but i'd rather see him in the red than blue LFCJON {Ed052's Note - he is out of contract in tge summer so the deal you suggest wouldn't work }

Don't understand sorry, ed; how would the deal not work? {Ed052's Note - if he is out of contract in the summer there's no point of having a clause to pay for him in the summer because he would be out of contract}

Yeh, loaned til the summer, then a deal worked out between player and new club in summer? (Not PSG, as he'd no longer be theirs).

Still needs to be a deal made, as he'd simply be unattached in the summer if not.

Hi eds. Happy new year to you all and good luck for this month! Anyway, I know it may be a touchy subject but I'm really interested to know what's the situation with players in the Americas? Eg any potential players to come in in the summer and if so how difficult would it be to get those deals done. Thanks eds, I appreciate that you may not want to go into it but I would really love to know. Ps maybe you could send a reply to my email address to avoid the abuse, if not you don't have to post. Thanks reded {Ed052's Note - I dont think we have any interest in any American players currently}

Surely the poster is thinking more about South American players? {Ed052's Note - yes, I missed the s. Again, I dont know of any current interest in any South American players. We have had it heavily scouted however, but any interest in players seems to have gone}

He said the americas as in brazil uraguay argentina.and liverpool have a scouting set up with uraguay i think {Ed002's Note - The scouts are based out of Argentina but most of the players looked at in teh summer came from another South American country.}

hai ed great site..and excellent work..
liverpool are reported to offer an improved bid for ince..somewhere in 7 mill..
I am really worried..with this..
is he the that worth?
we already have enough for future...what we want is an excellent second half..
I would personally drop the interst and bring germio from PSG for 9 mill or loan with option to buy end of the season...
he would score more goals than ince..for sure...
germio is skillfull young. and excellent finishing abilities..
ince is a one season wonder boy..and we could get him for free at the end of the season...
UTD did the same with adam...they fussed in media being linked with him..and we paid over the odds...
he is never a UTD quality, they will not bid him for sure..

cant understand whats in BR mind..
sturridge germio suarez..
this will look lethal upfront..
germio wont miss the chance suarez missed..
damm...y on earth are we not pressing for the deal..

Just decided - We've got the best looking set of home, away and third kits in the league...

Home kit is ok but nothing special

Away kit just god damn awful with what looks like a bib

3rd kit is probably the nicest

Still prefer my Adidas 2006/07 kits

Dont worry fans. Liverpool will be attracting top quality players this window. The reason why is because we are playin the great Mansfield. How many madrid/barca players have played theree. Exactly. Itd be a dream come true for them

I thought we were playing Mansfield Town because we'd drawn them in the FA Cup - hadn't realised as this poster obviously has that we've dropped to the Conference Premier Division. Clearly, if they were to snatch a win we'd be hoping for Utd or City to draw them so they would not attract top footballers.
I'm not keen on shouting abuse to other fans, particularly ones that call themselves LFC fans, but it is clear that you can't fix 'Stupid'.

Was wondering if Daniel Sturridge was Spanish if he'd be more wanted as most Liverpool supporters are now abit skeptical about any english player we look at now due to Carrol, Henderson, Downing didn't really shine for us when first signing.

Steven Gerrard, Carra, Rooney, Hart, Glen J, Ashley Cole, Rio, Terry, Wilshere, Ox, sterling, Shelvey, Kelly, Theo.

Guys there are good english players out there so try not to worry too much about English players we target they cant all be bad.

Also would love Will Hughes (Derby) i think to sign for us.

Happy 2013 Kopites and Liverbirds

UCCM

I'm suspicious of any player until they get on the pitch and run their butt off for 90+ minutes and earn their ridiculous wages!

Will Hughes is great shout. I reckon it's a bit early for him TBH. Give him a couple more years. I'm certain he will play for us one day.

Len

Everyone always going on about players wages few points they are tv stars as in they feature on tv every week anyone whos face is on tv gets paid well soap stars presenters etc.not to mention they cant live a normal life like cant just go to the park walking the dog people be bombarding them.they have to train most days wether they want to or not.they have to keep fit all the time.its a great life im not saying its not.but plenty of people get paid way more bankers corporate lawyers etc for no effort what six years in college.another point a footballers career can be over in an instant 1 bad injury at 24 where is he then.id rather see footballers get well compensated than bankers and lawyers.plus most footballers career ends early mid 30s thats early retirement from your trade

Rumour - Joe Cole will attend medical at QPR before the week is out... Can only assume a provisional deal has been agreed by both parties and Harry wants him at the club at the beginning of the window.

On a personal note I think Joe is a great guy who never found his form at Liverpool but was a great deal on a free at the time, but we need to off load those wages for a player who has only shown a blimmer of his potential. He may be more consisent under Redknapp

He'd never found his form for 2 years before we Bought him!!

Lyndon

Lets not forget that when we signed him, interest was high from some really good clubs.

He hardly got a game for Chelsea for 2 seasons before we bought him.

I think we all know that Joe Cole hasn't worked out for us. But I don't believe ANY player will deliberately play poorly (the want-away Torres notwithstanding) and so we have to accept that he was either on the downward slide when we signed him or his game has never fit into any system we have adopted. The point? Liverpool sign players - if it doesn't work out it is the club's fault. Liverpool agree transfer fees/salaries/various clauses in contracts - we cannot blame the player if me and thee think they are overpaid or should take a 50% wage cut to move away can we?

Puzzled

02 Jan 2013 10:30:28
Jus a quick one for the EDs, can they shed sum light on the sahin loan deal? 1)Is there actualy a 6 month get out clause in his loan agreement? 2) would we hav 2 pay a settlement figure to Madrid to cancel it or wud we b due a y of our 5 mil back? 3) do u think Rodgers was thinking he better than he is or do u think it was due to not shipping out enough players that he aint gettin much game time? Much appreciated dude, hope u enjoyed ur festivities? {Ed002's Note - (1) It is a one year loan. (2) There would be no money back. (3) I have no idea.}

02 Jan 2013 10:22:35
Morning Ed can you pleasetell me when is Martin Kelly espected to be fit and is he still part of our plans {Ed002's Note - Around March.}

Kelly showed great potential as a full back and centre half when required and should be in Liverpool's future ahead of Wisdom, Flannaghan and Robinson I think. He is out 2 more months for sure but then a period of physio, fitness, strength and conditioning training before resuming full training ahead of 2013/2014 season I would say

He does seem to get injured easily and too many times.
This report (or rumour) that he is delaying signing new deal because of Man U interest is worrying, hopefully not true

It helps that he's older and has played more games than those 3. Not really a fair comparison as Kelly is a rotation player, the others are backup/prospects.

I was speaking to him over Christmas in my local ale house. Asked him how long he still had out. Said he was getting christmas over and chilling with his family, then the hard work rehab/physio starts. Said it's about another 3 months, so the eds are correct there. Around March, definitely, as long as no set backs, before end of season. Also, I didn't know about UTD interest but he was the year above me in school (infant, primary and secondary) he's always been a Liverpool fan and has been on their books from the age of around 10/11. So I doubt he'd want to move. I reckon he'll stay at Liverpool for the rest of his career, provided Liverpool want him and he stays injury free.
Thanks
MattyH91

Can anyone else see Kelly as a future Carra? both versatile, local and always give 100%. If he manages to stay injury free he has a very bright future. Hopefully only at Liverpool..

I hope Waro posts tonights team, am wondering what Liverpool will do at left back ?
Downing to go there, up against his old mucker Adam Johnson ?
Or bring in Wisdom to RB, and see a Johnson v Johnson clash ? Sounds like a case in a divorce court that one.
C'mon Waro lad, spill the beans.

02 Jan 2013 11:10:44
The juicer, sorry lad I don't post the team anymore. I got people avin a pop at me over it so I thought why bother. As you will probably see in some of the replys you will get to your post telling you I make it up or I get it from the internet etc etc.

No mention of "Moneyball" for quite some time. The term got old fast (or not fast enough) but I'm surprised to see the words "transfer policy" have taken it's place in the alleged transfer target rationales being bandied about.

- Logic

Ed2 loved the moneyball talk!

Bet he/she is missing it badly and would love it to start allover again!!

First time poster... think we should persevere with BR. Bit more confidence, experience and consistency with an addition or two would help. Style of play is easy on the eye. What about southampton's puncheon who looked good on right v gunners tonight....

02 Jan 2013 00:37:02
Not really related to anything but everytime I read a LFC article on MirrorSport (boredom), there is a protracted and contrived comment from a serial spouter. Anyone else find the continual drivel almost laudable?

Dear Eds,
ForzaRed

If its drivel youre after, you are reading the right rag

No, not laudable. Maybe laughable but far from laudable.

I assume we all know who this is referring to? [FR]

Sahin to Inter
Cole to QPR
Downing to Sunderland
Comming in;
Sturridge, Ince, Villa and Alonso.
Inside info folks!

JP

Sahin is on a YEAR long loan.

02 Jan 2013 07:14:38
yes it is inside information. Its inside your head.

Sahin could well get a game in the FA Cup match. And, in doing so, surely be the first Real Madrid player to appear at Mansfield Town !
I bet he can't wait for that !

Well there's 24 hours wasted. Well done Rodgers. New players shoulda came in today!!

Liverpool cabbie

You are a tool.

Er.. don't you get the sarcasm? It obviously takes one to know one. Why can't somebody make a comment or say something silly, maybe even something controversial... and not be slagged off for doing so?

Reading the posts with the amount of people who slag everything they can, i can no longer sense this kind of posts r sarcastic or not.

Kaizer

Post was a little tongue in cheek but in reality he has know since August we needed more fire power. I know registrations can't be transferred to the 1st of jan but after the embarrassment of the end of the last window surely the best answer to that would have been to agree a deal prior to the first and unvail the player on the first or at least before today's game.

Just a thought. Almost a statement of intent. Plus once the first player is signed it makes it easier to attract others as long as the calibre of player is right.

Liverpool Cabbie.

Seems a harsh response considering it's probably sarcasm (hopefully)

The window opened as of the 1st but the FA did not until today so any registration etc can only be started from today. I suspect that is why we will see it all finished off later this afternoon and Sturridge announced later. As for others, we have a match tonight and I am BRs concentration will be on the game as well as trying to recover from illness. The really are some muppets on this site who will just pick anything to whine about, sometimes I wonder if they are even Liverpool fans. The Eds have highlighted on numerous occasions who they believe our genuine targets are and outside of that we just have to see what happens in the window. A lot of people moaned we do not have a goal scorer, we look like getting Sturridge today and people will start moaning he is not the right type of goalscorer. Do not know how the Eds put up with the repeated bleating on here.

The site is called BANTER..... ie using wit, sarcasm and prose to have some fun.

Get over it guys and chill, Im sure original poster was just having some banter

Tel 1949

What i said was not targeted in anyway to u Liverpool Cabbie, if u feel so, im really sorry. its just that nowadays i really do feel that i cant be sure whether it is sarcasm or not sometimes anymore in this site. im sure u get what i mean.

@Joe
Forgive me Percy for getting carried away and calling one of our own players "good, and likely to improve"
this was in regard to someone's post on Henderson!, Joe is saying Henderson is "good, and likely to improve"
we 'll thats a great insight Joe, maybe Liverpool should give him an improved deal, 6 yr extension with a 42 million buy out clause just in case that ever happens...oh plz
the Jazz!

I was skeptical about Henderson especially not seeing him play at Sunderland. I can't say he's brilliant or may be brilliant in future, but recently I have noticed he does a tidy job. Does have potential, and I don't think he'll be xavi or gerrard or anything but he may be a potential first team player. Does misplace passes at times but again, that may improve.

M

Oh please no one said we should do that but someone saying something positive about a liverpool player shouldn't be shot down like you are doing so now. Don't you want our players to succeed what kind of fan are you?

Its Lucas all over agian.

02 Jan 2013 01:21:08
I personally think we need an experienced player in the team. Similar to Gary Mcallister. For me Kevin Nolan is the man. Takes no messing and is quality. Maybe in the summer I hope.

Shawcross
Nolan
McCarthy

I would love to see the above sign. Really think they posses the leadership quality we are sometimes lacking.

TheDARkNIght

Sorry but have to say Nolan isn't by any stretch of the imagination another Gary Mac, who was technically superb and extremely gifted. Sure Nolan is a trier, but that's just not enough for us at the moment.
Shawcross is a donkey and not fit to grace our team. We have better players already, why would we want him.
ND

Hmm, good players but think again.

Bruce Wayne

Alonso & Villa........

I agree that we need a gaffer on the pitch. We really lack leadership. Those players are not the answer though. I don't think there is a domestic version of the correct player right now. Sami H was never really replaced (how could he be?) but the leadership role he filled has been lacking ever since.

02 Jan 2013 01:19:39
People need to look at the up comming fixtures, we have just played the teams below us and not taken advantage, we about to come up against the teams above us again now, and they have started to play a lot better than when we played them at the beginning of the season.

Every team has a season filled with up and downs, form off form periods so we will improve especially with reinforcements. And we have certainly got better and better bringing the ball up the pitch and the latest stats show we have created most chances in the prem this season. Unfortunately we have lack of depth in the squad, playing with youngsters with barely any experience, not to mention 1 striker for 2 months now? but I do believe we will give them a tough game

But dude, ..cant see us taking any points from city, arsenal and UTD away....

It doesn't matter how or how much you analyse the league. We still always need to win the next game. League analysis is for when the season is over. All the information in the table will not get you a single point. It doesn't matter.

Hi Ed's...
A website is reporting that a foreign player is due in Liverpool tomorrow for a medicle any truth in this? {Ed002's Note - A little vague isn't it? Did it mention a name?}

Heard he is of all international backgrounds & had a choice to play for any international team & opted to play for San Marino

M

Yeah I heard that sahin is being having a medical assessment to see if he can play the weekend that the foreign player .

02 Jan 2013 00:45:33
If liverpool dont try to sign top players how will they know if they wont sign? We could be missing out on some great players just because we didnt try to sign them at all. Hopefuuly they might have an attitude likened to that of luis garcia, read his lesving letter to se what i mean.
AnonymousWoolback

02 Jan 2013 02:43:23
Mate there is no doubt we still can sign top players the problem is wages under Fsg we have strict policy like American soccer that's why we are not even trying it. Any top player will want decent wages that has been the problem with Fsg that's why we have been finishing midtable for 2-3 seasons and still continue buying mediocore player and hope one day will sneak top4 with some luck or teams above us might go bust for financial reasons that's how our owners and fans mentality is thinking the likes of chelsea or city might go to administration and the magic door will open for us.

They seem to be careful about approaching players as they don't like the negative publicity of a knock back.

02 Jan 2013 00:23:44
Dont think this is reliable , but this is a rumour site so i thought i would say it , Apparently Brendan will be given 40 million for the january transfer window , doubt its true but i said i would say it anyway
Cheers, Zincho

02 Jan 2013 00:18:08
Rumour that early in the morning liverpool having medical arranged for a foreign player. Maybe Grameiro, others less likely are sneijder, alonso

Also spaniard from blackburn called rochina, 21 years of age, trained at barcelona. If he finds the right club he could be a great player in the future.

02 Jan 2013 00:09:37
This is not MoTD fever but I really think that Gaston Ramirez could of been a very good player for us after watching him over the course of the season. A very tricky little player who has the ability to carve open defences with passes but also gets in good scoring positions. He would of linked really well with Suarez. HullRED

Little the lads like 6ft :

And built like a weed...

01 Jan 2013 23:44:48
I can't rememeber if someone asked earlier but are we trying to end sahin loan?and Is that even possible!

bigW {Ed002's Note - See earlier answers.}

01 Jan 2013 23:32:51
I hope that Newcastle go down as there star players will want out. AC would not mind dropping back down a division to them and Ben Arfa, Cababye, Tiote, Cisse & Ba (if he stays until the summer) will want to play at a higher standard of football. I am not saying we will sign any of them but we should at least consider them.

If they drop down they would not be buying a 17 million pound striker would they?

01 Jan 2013 23:11:06
Eds is it True Scott Browns agent is in liverpool as we speak? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea where he is.}

Second poster, why be a bad beaut?!

Ed002, I know you are a Chelsea fan so no doubt your inside knowledge of CFC may be greater than other clubs (not doubting your incredible knowledge however!) but just wanted to as a few questions in relation to Sturridge.

1. What injury problem has kept him out of recent action.

2. Has he completed his rehabilitation yet, or will that be something he'll continue at Liverpool over the coming days/weeks.

3. What is your opinion and perhaps Chelsea's opinion of Sturridge as both a player and person?

Best of luck for the next month. I know you'll be bombarding with heaps of rubbish journalism and the deluded people who think they are 'ITK'! Happy New Transfer Window and Happy New Year Ed's!

Dave. {Ed002's Note - (1) Hamstring. (2) He is fine. (3) He is a good player - I don't know him as a person.}
