And all u tit's who burned torres shirt and slate him on here, he was quality for us remember that, and also remember he could yet save liverpool this season. . .if he was to put chavski back into the title race and nick it off them, that keeps them (MAN URE) @ 18 titles the same as us. I FOR ONE WOULD BE MASSIVELY DEPRESSED IF THEY OVERTOOK US ON THAT SIDE OF THINGS, MORE THAN LOOSING NANDO ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

So from me, (i don't think you did it right at all Nando, and slating our club is bad too.), but come on Torres BEAT THE MANKS.

J496 YNWA

****

How about Arsenal beating Mancs to title. .and we nick 4th place from Chavski (with a little help from the Mancs). .Just typing this has put a smile on my face

Do you honestly think that Suarez gives a f*ck about me talking about his extremely large TEETH?

Or do you think that JoJo Shelvey will give a f*ck about us talking about his extremely large NOSE?

Or do you think that Dirk Kuyt gives a f*ck about me saying how ugly he is?

Or do you think that Carragher would give a f*ck about me not understanding a word he's saying?

If so mate then you should be on the rumours page, along with the for mentioned footballers. All that matters to them is playing well for us. not how they look.

Just as Ronaldinho!

RE: Suarez Song

My last name of Suarez and I was checking for the meaning. This is what I found. "The Suarez surname comes from the Latin word 'suerius', which suggests that the name was occupational, for a swine herder."

A swineherd is a person who looks after pigs

so maybe his song could have something to do with pigs and bacon.

Did anyone See the camera on Andy Carroll and Damien Comolli. It looks like a awarkd first date, you could just see Damien see looking at the back of Andy Carrolls head. With Captions, what are we going to talk about at half time. {ed's note - did you see Carroll at the end though? His face had that 'oh yes' look on it. He clearly liked what he saw.}

We bought the lad from amstradam
He'll bite you he don't give a damn
Suarez Suarez
He's gnna score a 100 goals
More than that Spanish sack of balls
Suarez Suarez

Ed what do you reckon can my song make it to the kop? {ed's note - hard to say mate, though personally I don't see the point in continuing to chant about Torres. I would prefer to move on and concentrate on those who want to play for us.}

Much better performance from the boys. What an effect the king has had in such a short space of time! We're playing football again, not felt this good about things since the legend was last in charge. I like NESV a lot also. No rash promises but very respectful in their demeanour and decisive in their actions! I wouldn't put it passed them step up and give the king a 5 1/ 2 year contract now. Put that together with another win on Sunday and this really would be the perfect week! Don't rule out top 4 either boys, big ask but don't underestimate the King Effect! YNWA

I like Aurelo in the midfield with Lucas. I wish we kept Daniel Ayala to play in a back three. I still think Kyrgiakos has the speed of Tank and the turning circle of one too. Very Slow.

02 Feb 2011 23:40:28

Torres going could be one of the best things to happen to the club , second to kenny taking charge .When Mierles scored the whole team ran over to celebrate , the team looks completely united now Torres has gone . Two wingers and a left back Kenny from the Start who knows what might happen

RE: Kenny playing the formation he did is going to confuse the hell out of Chelsea at the weekend; they don't know what to plan for.

I think Torres and Chelsea will be a whole different tactical problem. Drogba, Torres, Anelka is a lot of power and pace and skill to defend against. We will See Man Utd style of football when they use to have Rooney, Trevas and Ronaldo in free following mood.

Our Defense is still too slow to couple with Torres or Drogba and we all know Torres need half a chance to score. For the first time this season Torres will be receiving decent supply. Expect a Torres hatrick.

He will be gunning for liverpool

Hi ed. . Fellow Pool' fans.

Just come in from the pub now just been the match, what can I say. . .

This is my first game since Benitez left, I rented my ticket out as I just couldn't bare to watch them anymore. I have now fell back in love with football. Suarez was amazing his first touch, an then run straight toward the box was excellent we have bought a great player. Will be good to see big Andy knocking balls down to Luiz to toe poke in or smash in on the half volley.

Long live the king. . . He got it spot on tonight.

Fernandwho?? ?

02 Feb 2011 23:34:21

It will be Sir Kenny Dalglish if he carry on this way. He really will turn liverpool into a force to be reckoned with. Steven Clark has done a great job with the players. They seem more solid in formation. Corners and Free-kicks look good. He is getting the basic's right.

How many sleeps till I can see Carrol & Suarez supported by Gerrard & Meireles? I want it now! NOW! Its not fair! Why do I have to wait?! Muuuuuummm! Daaaaadd! I am 42 and the thought of this makes me feel like a 12 year old again. By the way, has to be said: KD interview on BBC/ MOTD. The charisma, confidence & energy just blasts through the screen. I saw him at a corporate thing at Wembley last year and a friend was going to introduce me to KD. I just froze and couldn't do it. It was KD. I felt 12. Imagine him being your manager? What if KD told you to do something? The Dalglishification of Liverpool. Week Five.

02 Feb 2011 23:31:30

I love the new formation. The way liverpool played was great. they should continue to play with this 5-2-2-1.

Great passing. I loved the way Gerrard Kuyt and Meri played in the centre. Kelly and Johnson where great as Full backs. I guess it was a good idea to to play 6 defenders

Suarez was impressive, if he can perform like regularly we will have got a real star. I am hoping so, even though it would mean I was wrong about him.
ed don't be so hard on yourself we all get it wrong sumtimes especially with a job like yours and i can't wait to see how he is goin to play. {ed's note - he does look a good fit for Carroll, a proper partnership.}

Ed do u reckon stevie was playing with more life in his game tonight and luis suraez touch was unbelivable and unplayable against any team never mind stoke {ed's note - the system seemed to suit Gerrard, Kenny got it spot on. Sorry forgot to mention in last post.

Kenny playing the formation he did is going to confuse the hell out of Chelsea at the weekend; they don't know what to plan for.

Also in response to some of the posts - I think Lucas has been good for us (still makes a few mistakes - but who hasn't this year?) and as people have said his attitude is great - imagine what he would play like if people got off his back. He's still young as well and I think he'll improve (especially under Kenny).

I also agree with us not being able to get champions league football this year - just based upon us having still to play the top four and only 9 other games after that; but if you look at the team only Carragher is going to be the one too old (possibly) in 18 months - don't forget the talent in the academy and reserve teams (sterling, silva, flanagan, robinson, wisdom etc. )

If kenny gets a long term contract (deservedly) then I can see only positives in the next few years (especially if we get £40m to spend in the summer - and add the Aquilani, Joe Cole, Konchesky and Poulsen fees to that (if they get sold which i'm hoping)

Hi guys, good news for Liverpool fans we're going to be signing quality players and i mean quality in the summer. Expect kenny to get rid of most of the deadwood in the summer. Good times a head for Liverpool!

p.s Joe Cole will start against Chelsea. . .

Top performance. KK - genius. The whole team played well today, really really positive stuff. Very impressive debut for Suarez, continued brilliance from merieles. onwards and upwards.

I noticed someone said next season we'll attract and buy 1 or 2 superstars - we probably will, but we won't buy them. This is LFC, we don't buy superstars, we make them. :D

Another clean sheet Pepe too! Seriously proud of everyone, bring on Chelsea - we're in with a fighting chance, despite it being at stamford bridge.

Long live the king!

02 Feb 2011 22:50:26
Regarding what fans are saying about the cost of Carroll. It is overpriced by a minimum of say £15 million. And our net spend is around £1 million.

I'd say that is probably what Chelsea paid over the odds for Torres. Been lazy, injured and uninterested for 18 months (obviously apart from the big teams. . )

We have done amazingly well in this deal and anyone peeved that he has gone then listen to his comments.

Suarez looks busy and Carroll is a battering ram. The future looks better than it did at new year. .

I was crying out for Suarez in the summer jimmybosun. He still needs more time but when he is fully fit for me he is a class act.

Someone asked me if i could have one player to buy who would it be? I said i would be Suarez everytime. This guy will be fantastic for us, i was just worried that someone in the CL would get him or he didn't want to come to us. But he's here for 23 mill no less, which could turn out to be an absolute bargin.

As Andy Carroll could be out for a few weeks do you think someone could hide his razor. We cpuld use Kyriakos as a decoy . . with two of em on the pitch that'd put the wind up the opposition . . Just hope they think it's two Carroll's
Gillett . No not that one

02 Feb 2011 22:46:18
You've got to take your hat off to Daglish; my mate wanted him in the summer and I said nope he's been out of management too long, but i don't mind admitting I was wrong. Tactics was spot on; from what I saw of the match (crap broadband speed and streaming sites) we controlled the game and even that we didn't have any "wide" players we had width and options over the pitch.

Great to see Suarez get a goal in front of the kop; I actually think he's going to be a great signing for us - he suits red ;o)

I hope Kenny gets the job we just look a better team in all areas and kenny's handling of the press has been excellent - no more complaining about what Woy should or shouldnt've said.

2 points behind Sunderland now; appreciate we may only have Europa league next year to aim for but as Carroll said - we're on the up!

Tonight I thought Lucas was excellent, for me he was MOTM. He protected the back four well and always showed for the ball. Also, under Kennys stewardship he passes the ball forward. If he can play every game like that missing out on Adam will be blessing in disguise. We are passing the and moving again, something we havent seen since Xabi.

We are our way to be a premiership force once again!

Hi all, I watched the game on Sopcast/ Myp2p it was perfect, commentry in Danish.The nae sayers coming out with KK being away from the game too long are nothing but scare mongers who know this living ledgend is a footballing genius, great tactics has the team playing some nice football and hats off to everyone one of the players, the greek was a rock at the back, Lucas and Raul where great and Kyut showed his best postion is up top, a few stray passes here and there but all in all delighted with the performance, at least 5th I'd say IMO and the Europa would be magic, KK only back and to win a european trophy would be great.
As for Suarez well impressed, imagine what he'll be like when fully match fit and Carroll comes in.
I think Kyut will help Suarez settle in brilliantly as the two linked up very well tonight.

Liverpool rumours, great result tonight hope we can carry the form in the weekend, just a few points ed dono if you will agree with one or 2 of them, first i hope nesv give kenny a contract now it will send out the club has a stabilaty about it, second ive being watching lfctv and ive also read on this site a lot of people are still slateing lucas he takes so much crap and don't say a word about it he never hides or sulks just gets on with things any other player would crumble he not the best in the world but dose a job he lets gerrard and co get forward and it can't be good for team moral if the fans slag one of there players all d time, and third i think the best thing for torres this weekend is not to boo or cheer him just stay silent as if he never played for us, wat you think ed and lfc fans?dessie {ed's note - I would love to see Kenny given the job on a permanent basis, even though I find it really difficult to cope when people question his decisions. He is one person you have to just accept that he knows better! As for Lucas, I love the lad's attitude, I think he deserves so much credit for playing through the stick he gets. You can never have too many players with his attitude.}

02 Feb 2011 22:38:52
Good result tonight, anything less than opts would have been a disaster. Suarez grabbing a goal (just) was a great bonus. He certainly looks a player. I can only hope it is a sign of things to come. But those of you harping on about about champions league and Chelsea to finish outside top 4; give it a rest! We are rebuilding this will take more than a few months. Our target has to be top 6 for Europe and I think we have a real chance at winning the Europa League, but top 4? No! We're just not good enough. Even if we somehow beat Chelsea on Sunday (very unlikely at the bridge) I still think we have too much ground to make up! Next season we will re-establish ourselves as a top 4 side with some much needed quality in the summer. Then the following season, with the lure of champions league football, we sign one or two superstars who can really give us the team we need to challenge on all fronts! We must be patient and we must trust in what we're trying to do. But things certainly are looking up and I for one am going to love every minute of our return to the top!

Ed i hate hearing things like lfc fans hoping chelsea win the league any1 bar man utd we all as lfc fans are well aware they are there on merit and if they pass out our league record then fair play 2 them they deserve it we need 2 look at ourselfes 20somthing years and still counting shocking but with the help of king kenny we, l b there again after all he was the last manager to win the league for us ynwa {ed's note - personally I don't care who wins unless it is us.}

I think if we are playing Aurellio in centre mid, we need at least a new one next season, if we play 4-3-3-, then Turan would be ideal in a front of Carroll, Turan and Suarez.

Also, a Leftback, a centre half amd we are nearly there

Just read the Daily Mail report of the match - it really is unbelievable! Liverpool's first goal was 'fortuitous' - just like the goal against Fulham was also lucky. Against Fulham a perfectly good goal was disallowed after six minutes - a goal which would have probably led to a few more. A fit Suarez and Carroll would have had a picnic today. Another good performance from Meireles ( and another goal). Things are looking up. All we need now is a little it of the M. . . . . U. . . luck and we'll move further up the table. I already have a good feeling for next season.

Hi Ed

I'm ashamed to say I fell into the same trap as many of our supporters in backing Torres over Gerrard and even over Carragher the last couple of months. Torres, as Aldo said Has been a bit of a Fraud, The only thing we can thank him for is getting Hodgson the sack. Gerrard tonight was fantastic and gave his all, back to his best, Kuyt worked all night, the defence looked solid and the team look more like a Liverpool team and little Suarez chipped in as well. I am now much more excited about the future of Liverpool than I have since Kenny was manager last time. He needs to be given the permanent job now to crown a perfect week. What do you think Ed

02 Feb 2011 21:58:55
I don't want to dampen on anyones parades but although I did think Suarez had a good game I feel once he gets his fitness up a little bit more gametime awesome striker! , However, he did lack something, he did go to the left quite often and left the middle abit exposed something to perhaps be filled with a tall pony-tailed striker - Perhaps? , people wondering were his supply is going to come from? if the ball goes to Suarez in that position, There you go! .

YNWA 2-0!

Great tactics by Kenny to stop Stoke making it hard for us, like they do with every team they play. Passing is a lot better, confidence is high and we've got Luis Suarez. Things are looking up!

In the last couple of days seen a lot in these pages particularly from the eds(collective) that we done good business in transfers, long live the owners, they spent a lot of money etc etc . .
Not sure if these are just words of optimism or you actually believe them.

I do not have insider knowledge like many of you do, but I heard since the start of the year about Torres determination to leave , and few websites did have that same rumours, his grievance have been the same since last year, which the club should show more ambition , now if many of us heard it weeks ago, surely the club knew about it, and why did not act sooner, why linger with the suarez deal, why offer stupid money initially , when they ended up paying 85% of the asking price anyway, I wonder if they've offered 25m euro at the start maybe would have been accepted and maybe just maybe Torres would still be a Liverpool player.
Also with Andy Carroll, anyone that believe he is worth 35m is dreaming , we had to pay that amount because we waited till the last day , when every one in this world knew our main striker is leaving for top dollar, newcastle played hard ball and succeeded, they were willing to sell him anyway and if we approached them weeks earlier , maybe just maybe we would have paid a lot less than that.

This is not a dig about what was done, but real concern if this is the way transfer business will be conducted, then a couple of years down the line, we will be talking about 100s of millions spent, players in and others out and we are no better than we are today.
One last point , the owners did not spend a lot of money, unfortunately for a long time we were abused by the old owners thieving all money generated from sales that we now look at re-investing as a generous gesture.

Roy

02 Feb 2011 19:35:47
Ed mate, i think you might agree. When summer comes in will GLEN JOHNSON be considered to leave because with kk trying him out at RW tonite which I think he'l fail in, and not good enough as a defender and surely you can't leave a player on 125K a week on the bench. As much as I am willing to support the team, I want to be paying my ticket money to see young talent and not players who either give away a goal or are on the bench on that sort of money. Ed, your thoughts mate? {ed's note - he has been playing well at left back I thought.}

02 Feb 2011 19:28:56
Lets be honest stoke normally bully us all over the pitch. So the king has picked a team of defenders to beat them at their own game. I like it. Hopefully it works, but if it doesn't oh well at least we tried something different for once. I can tell you one thing that's not the team pullis would have been planning for. . . .
And also it would have been pretty cruel on suarez to do his full debut against stoke, im happy he's on the bench rather than immediately worrying whether he made the right decision to come to the pl after he's had his shins and face kicked in.

02 Feb 2011 19:00:47
If anyone wants a clear definition of what Liverpool Football Club meant to Fernando Torres then just watch the first five minutes of the Everton at Goodison this season.

The incident is a ball from Carragher just inside his own half on the right hand side and he plays a 20 yard pass, on the deck, to Torres who is beaten to the ball by the centre half. Just watch Carragher's reaction and then you just catch Torres' little shrug and upturn in his mouth.

When i first saw it, didn't really want to buy into this notion that Torres did not want to be there as i cannot (could not) believe a Professional footballer could be so unprofessional so paid very little attention to it and put it down to Carra just moaning cause the grass wasn't lying right!

I gave him (Torres) too much respect. I'll still do the same however towards Suarez and Carroll, perhaps the one negative of being a fan?

Still really looking forward to the game tonight. After so many years of struggling to get to watch us at home, i understand the cash turnstiles are on tonight and i've just finished my shift at work! Damn.

Why is this though?

We overpaid about £15m on Carroll (on what he's worth right now)
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

We never overpaid on Carroll, he was not for sale and this was what Newcastle demanded to sell him, and the value of a player is based on this and what the buying club is prepared to pay, and in comparison to Darren Bent who is 27 this week and he was 24 m?And Torres 50 m and also 27 soon, at 5 years younger than them both i don't think it was as bad a deal as people think
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Remember everybody it was reported last week in the the London centric press that Spurs had had an offer of £25m turned down by Newcastle. I suppose this is why Liverpool got word a bid of more than £25m was necessary, hence the initial bid of somewhere near £30m.

Rafa Benitez possible candidate for Liverpool manger's job in summer. Not sure about you guys but I would welcome him back with open arms. i accept that Kenny Dalglish is a better motivator than Rafa but compared with Rafa I think he lacks tactics wise. I believe we need some European flair, not a traditionally English formation of 4-4-2 which I believe Kenny is trying to give us. I feel more confident of future domestic and european success under Rafa rather than, dare I say it, the old-fashioned Kenny Dalglish. {ed's note - European flair from Rafa? You must be a wum!}

Hey Ed's

Lord, you'd think we still had curley and Moe owning us with all the morbidity on this site.

Guys, this time 3 months ago we where staring down the barrel of a gun, H+G seemed hell bent on sending us into adminstration, any fee we received in when straight back out on interest payments. we had a manager who believed attractive football was all about hoofing the ball as far as you could up the field, and lets be honest we where at each others throats, BOard vs owners, fans vs owners, Fans vs board, Fans vs manager, manger vs fans and player and Fans vs fans, board vs managers.

In 3 months we have had more hope that we could have dared to dream of, the new owners seem to be doing thing the right way, not yeling all their business to the world. The more I see of them the more I'm starting to trust them (still will take time but once you've been burned as badly as us those scars will take time to heal).

We have a manager that not only do I trust but would follow him to hell and back, and for once our fighting is about what players we should buy, where they should play etc. Mainly, we can support our club again and banter with each other.

Stop the negativity, other players will come, and others will go but we are LFC. I think we've forgotten that with all the cr@p we've been through.

Remember "At the end of the storm, There's a golden sky, and the sweet silver song of a lark" Maybe, just maybe we're starting to see the beginings of that sky.

Evening ed .all this talk about 35illion for Carroll is silly it doesn't matter what he is worth. What matters is he could be englands best striker for years and we got him and not one of our rivals could compete with lfc finances, so things are looking alot better .well be coming down the road when you here the noise from the bill shankley boys we will be coming down the road.cheers psv .ps onward and upward.

People asking about new management kenny has stated that he would like to take the role full time from the summer and with people saying is carroll worth it well yer he is th ideal strong partner for suarez and is very good in the air look how many goals he has scored for newcastle and he is basically a young inexpeirenced alan shearer was he worth all the money clubs spent on him all them years ago so give the kid a chance hes 21 and in my eyes a quility player for the future and a future england striker who will make plenty of starts for club and country some one would have paid 35 million in a couple of years anyway be if man city, united or chelsea.

02 Feb 2011 17:59:57
I think Kenny and the owners have done a great bit of business with the 2 signings. They've got rid of a sulking spoilt greedy not fit to wear the shirt TRAITOR! and bought in 2 young, hungry up and coming soon to be Superstars that will become feared all over Europe and once they gel and with Gerrard and a couple of wingers brought in the summer to feed them we are going to take some stopping ok 35m maybe a lot but i have no doubt this kid will pay back with intrest. The futures Bright the futures RED! ! ! !

I forgot to ask; what do you think, Ed?

So the inevitable has happened. Torres has finally gone. Well, we all knew it was coming, just not quite yet. But have we really lost out here? I'm undecided.

Personally I feel that Torres' first season was his best; putting injury and fatigue aside, of course. In that season no matter how much he got kicked he didn't complain once. He just got up and punished the opposing team in the best way possible. By scoring.

As time went on he became increasingly narked and I guess, to be fair, blighted by injury and fatigue. However; once you are back on the pitch you should perform with eagerness and a desire which should leave no question of your commitment. Even if you aren't scoring.

Despite his moments of brilliance; most recently against Chelsea, ironically, you could tell he'd lost his passion for it. His comments after leaving say it all. He definitely left for a reason other than money or 'football reasons' like Darren Bent.

There's no doubt that we have lost more than a world class striker. His replica shirt being the most sold, for example. Will Carroll #9 sell as many? No, it won't, especially in Spain!

I personally don't believe its all doom and gloom. And despite some cynical fans; the owners have shown they're willing to invest. Let's not forget that Suarez was coming in to partner Torres, not replace him. That would have been £22.8m spent (minus the Babel money). And we were trying to sign more.
Carroll's over inflated price shows they are willing to pay what is necessary to get the player. Hasn't most clubs at some point paid what was necessary rather than what the player's true value is? Real Madrid are experts at it.

Sure; if we knew we had £35m to spend on a striker, Carroll wouldn't be at the top of my list. Or on it at all. But the club were working reactively and not proactively. That makes a huge difference. And they succeeded. How many times can we say that in our recent history of trying to sign players?

Carroll will never be as good as Torres. But who will. He is a special player. One of the world's best. So it would make sense to say that Carroll at 22 isn't as good as Torres was at 22 years old. Yet in Torres' last season at Atletico he scored 14 league goals. Carroll has 11 already (3rd top in the league). More than Torres has, both of which have been out injured. And we have Suarez now so Carroll doesn't have to completely 'replace' Torres' goals for us to be in a better situation than we currently are.

Maybe; just maybe, with Carroll and Suarez and the TEAM our collective goals will amount to a far superior total than Torres' alone would have.

Let's just hope Carroll wants to be here and plays like it. I think we should put aside (not forget) the fee paid for Carroll and hope he starts scoring. And most of all; be excited about the signing of Suarez. After all if he can't score goals he can certainly save them.

Rossi46 {ed's note - to be honest I have long gone past caring about who pulls on the shirt and the name on the back of it. All that matters to me is the shirt itself and the team. Good riddance to any player that doesn't want to play for us and all the best to anyone who is here to play for us.}

Just a thought. I think paying 35 million for Carrol is an absolute joke. I can't see the sence in paying such big money for him. 1 reason i can think of is King kenny. Although many may not like this comment it could hold some truth. If Kenny is not offerd the LFC job in the summer we all know that he wants to be involved in management. The 35 mill from the carrol sale has been put in to the kity for the summer for Newcastle. Hence Kenny not getting the liverpool job expect to see him be the manager of Newcastle next season with 35 mill pluss for the rebuild of there team. Does this make sence? what do you think ed ?

{editor: I think he will be Liverpool manager next season.}

Mate, your comment doesn't make sense. KK wanted to be Liverpool's manager, not any club manager. Why would he sell Newcastle's biggest goal threat just in case he does get the job? How does he know Pardew won't spunk it all on Carlton Cole?

All the talk about Man City not being able t spend big anymore now the fair play rule comes into place, I have a question perhaps the Ed or someone can answer for me.

Whats stopping the Russian or the Sheiks just simply paying silly money for sponsorship or buying the name of the stadium?

Kev the Red

In answer to your question FIFA/ UEFA rules do not allow for related companies to inflate arrangements, and will come under scrutiny by an independant auditor to ensure fair play.

Everyone calm down about the Carroll price! !
Firstly he's English and with the new homegrown rules getting stricter over the next few seasons then the price of quality English players will rocket. Second, his wages are slot lower than the likes of Aguero, Llorente etc and the the new financial fairplay rules coming in this too will help us. Thirdly he's exactly the kind of player Suarez needs playing along side him. I expect to see Carroll score a lot of goals curtesy of Suarez assists, think back to Dalgeish and Rush. We're a better team now than we were last week. Torres is still world class and I think he'll do well for the chavs but with our current squad we wouldn't be able to get the best out of him.

Basically give the team time. It won't happen over night but we're heading in the right direction.

As for the owners, they're doing things the right way. Why would they put themselves in a position were they're going to be in the same room as about 20 fans if they don't intend to make us great again. Keep the faith people we will be back.

What you reckon Ed?

Also great site Ed's.

Lee. {ed's note - I think the team has improved with the transfers made, Babel didn't play and Torres was playing poorly. We should be pleased with the business done.}

you could choose to forget the champions league for now, and simply go for the prem title, u can spend all su like, but u won't be in europe, now im sure for now the likes of city might think about that firstly than the champions league then once they have the title for a couple seasons they will balance there books and get in the the champions league

we also have 2 good strikers at same time not seen that for a long time i think we will be good

To all the carroll doubters if he plays as good for us as he did against us i will be more than happy, we now have 2 top strikers that know where the net is instead of that other bloke(cant bear to say his name)and ngog who is about as useful as a one legged man in an a**e kicking contest, instead of getting at that other bloke on sunday we should be trying to get at drogba letting him know his time is up and a youger player has come in to replace him, i doubt then he will even pass the ball to him,

At times posts on this site r football manager esq, with names banded about, but suarez can be everything torres was at his best, he is fast, can beat players and score outside the box, whilst Carroll attacks the ball in the air is a real handful n can score goals 2, as a unit they have everything. 2 very clever signings, well done kk & NESV.

Lastly the worst post ever, the conspiracy theory on kk, Carroll 35m n Newcastle, crazy.

Oh my lord it's just hit me. i'v been salivating about Gerrard pinging the ball to Carroll who either scores or knocks down to Suarez. . . and i've completely overlooked Reina's delivery! That means nearly EVERY counter we make will be Carroll taking the defenders and knocking down leaving Suarez a half pitch to run in behind for a one on one, rather than Reina trying to lob it straight in behind for a less than dedicated el weenio and turning over the possession. From the keeper to the net in about 5 seconds. . .MAGIC!

I don't normally post my team ideas but I'd like to get some people's thoughts on this formation. As we're clearly lacking in wingers, would the wingback system work for us?

GK: Reina
RWB: Johnson
RCB Kelly
CB: Carra
LCB: Agger
LWB: Aurelio
DM: Lucas/ Poulson
RM: Meirles
LM: Maxi
AM: Gerrard
ST: Suarez

This would allow us to attack quickly when we have to ball but pull back when needed as both Johnson and Fabio can run all day it seems. Also, once Carrol is fit put Stevie into Maxi's position and have 2 up front. It also gives us good outlets when we break up attacks or when Pepe has the ball in hand.

Thoughts?

Some comments on here are f***ing mad regarding our owners. There is no proof to suggest any debt loans or otherwise. We have just had a load of soft comments from that no mark an now we are having it at the owmers? We have made a lot of effort with these signings and I believe everyone involved has done what is best for LFC which wasn't always the case before.

Just imagine if what Dalglish expects to see happens eh! He obviously has an idea of what to do with them and there will be investment in key areas in the summer as well as possible ground work. For f***s sake lift your heads from the gutter an get behind these lads because I'm feeling a renewed sense of optimism through not commenting officially on the no marks remarks (even though Pardew has had a pop at us over Carroll) to sorting the reporters out when nobody else bothered to Dalglish getting more out of players like Meireles etc.

Let's have it eh. Starting tonight again.

Irish RED

Irish Red, I think Macca meant to say Gerrard & Carragher.

The truth about Torres, was that his head was turned last summer at the world cup by Abramovich via his agents. They must have met and talked.

Add to this Rafa been shown the door, Mascherano leaving, Roy Hodgson appointed, playing carp football, struggling in the league, hardly any decent players brought in, takeover issues and so on. .

The seed was planted last summer in Torres head, and his doubts were confirmed during the last 6 months, and its no wonder he was ready to go by January. He simply didn't want to play for us anymore, his heart wasn't it. It showed on the pitch, that's why Gerrard & Carragher got pissed off with him, knowing full well that he was going to Chelsea. You can't blame them. Everyone at LFC had known for months he wanted to go, especially to Chelsea. so when Suarez was signed, they told him to f**k off for no less than £50m. Simple as that.

Please post Ed

I was a bit disappointed that Charlie Adam agreed to sign for spurs after he seemed to want to come to us so desperately , and i started to think he just wanted out of blackpool and didn't care where he went.

That was until i just read that his agent didn't even hear from spurs to discuss personal terms, so i think it's safe to assume that harry was just stirring fergie's porridge and Adam really does have his heart set on the Pool. .

So we needed a proven striker in our team and i only see Andy Carrol being fit .? who else were we gonna buy? Anelka (Doesnt wanna join) , Drogba neither. Bent transfer to villa, Rooney no chance, there was none available so maybe people should be more positive about things. .

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I don't think it was a case of who was available, i think Carroll was exactly the one they wanted, he is KK's type of player and fits with what NESV want, young (just 22), British and will sell shirts, he can also be re-sold in 5 years unlike Drogba and Anelka who are at the end of their careers, even Torres what will he be worth in 5 years compared to Carroll? I think it was a great buy and can't wait to see him play and i agree with you, i do not understand all this negativity towards Carroll and NESV

02 Feb 2011 16:30:44

The £35m for Carrol is simple, he is young, therefore has a load of years, is likely to be an england regular therefore will sell shirts worldwide, has shown talent, is robust and he will always have a sell on value. It might be expensive but in the long riun could prove very shrewd.

Torres said he left because he wanted to play champions league. Wouldn't it be so funny if we got fourth ( chelsea fifth) and won the champions league next year.sam37

"As Carroll has moved to us, does that mean he still has to live with Nolan or can that be tranferred? If he stays with Gerrard that may be a bit scary based on recent Sg behaviour? Maybe he should stay with KK for a while and learn the ropes?"
Who the hell are you and what are you thinking? Why are you even asking this question? It doesn't make sense let alone have any relevance!
e whn did footballers who move to a new club HAVE to live with another player/ manager?!And your comments about living with Stevie, and it being "scary" due to his behaviour recently. .what does this mean? Would Stevie fight him? But why the hell would he LIVE with him. Please clarify this question, because all it's done is made me laugh. .mental. Ed PLEASE post in rumour. {ed's note - the point was, as is well known, Carroll was recently convicted of assault and was ordered to live with his then club captain Kevin Nolan. The sentence no longer applies and he moved out a while ago.}

02 Feb 2011 16:20:31

I don't get people really. Whining about Carrol being overpriced. Offcourse he is , we bought him on deadline day which adds even more money to his value , last minute transfer was also needed because we were losing Torres.
How would people feel if we didn't get any striker before deadline and lost Torres??

Suarez is still unproven in the EPL , but i know he's gonna make it.

So we needed a proven striker in our team and i only see Andy Carrol being fit . ? who else were we gonna buy? Anelka (Doesnt wanna join) , Drogba neither. Bent transfer to villa, Rooney no chance, there was none available so maybe people should be more positive about things. .

And stop slating Torres , He just wants the best out of his career and only time will tell for him if this was the right move for him . . .

Hi Ed, Its Indian Rajiv again.I came here daily.Ed, I want to say one thing to those fans who say we bring Carroll on 35 million absolute rubbish but tell me if we havent buy him the same people i think should have start saying about NESV that they pocketed money from Torres and Babel.I think these owners are really smart.They now when and where to spend.They know team canot perform with one striker(Suarez) so they need another one at any cost.Its not easy to keep unhappy one.Player should respect club like Liverpool while playing for club or not.In India we love Liverpool and i really believe while loving it YNWA.any thoghts ed?

{editor: The owners did what Hicks and Gillett couldnt, spend their own money.}

02 Feb 2011 16:14:03

With regards to the money for Torres, is it possible that due to the up and coming new regulations on the spending 'within the clubs means', would NESV possible have used there own money on transfers and banked the Torres money, giving them more spending power in the summer.
I know there would be charges on this money ie tax etc , but would this not be worth it ?

What a stupid post aimed at King Kenny! You're saying so that Kenny sat down on deadline day and thought to himself, right Torres wants to go, i'll know what i'll do, buy Carroll for what they want for him, give myself money to spend with Newcastle in the summer, WATTA t**t YOU REALLY ARE!

Next you will be saying Adam has signed a deal with Newcastle and that's why Kenny didn't push that move threw, Little fool go play and keep off this excellent site!

Seems as though since Torres has left the exit rumours pass on to Reina, would I be right in saying H+G have irreversibly turned Liverpool into a cauldron of negativity? Or is this just the generation we live in, or worse, the next generation of Liverpool fans?

Is there anyone posting on this site who has ever been on a team? Fighting among teammates is normal, I'd even say it is necessary to remain competitive. I've played football ever since I was twelve (at a modest level) and I have never been on a team where there wasn't infighting. When you have a player who plays your position, the last thing you want to do is to be friends with him. Also, when one player does not pull his weight it is normal for others to call him up on it. If Gerrard and Carragher were on Torres' case it is because he deserved it. I don't think Reina likes to lose, I've also seen him on many occasions grimace after catching a ball and wanting to start an attack when the others were just jogging back into their positions (Torres maybe). So, I believe Reina is a winner and if he did indeed defend Torres it probably was more to calm things down. If he leaves, he leaves. But, as a captain it is Gerrard's role to tell a player to pull his socks up. Now, I know why they call Torres El Nino. How do you say spoiled in Spanish?

Ashley Young is No.1 target for summer expect him signing for 15-20 million. A left back is another priority with Coentrao - 15million Cissokho 12million and Taiwo 10 million making the list. Other roles to be filled will be another striker, obviously depending on the performances from Suarez and Carroll but most likely to be a young player, unproven who will be the replacement for Carroll or Suarez if injured/ unavailable for a game. Glen Johnson will either be moved to right wing or sold and a new right winger will replace him.
Team for next season. .
Reina
Kelley Carra Agger Coentrao/ Taiwo/ Cissokho
Johnson Meireles Gerrard Young
Carroll Suarez

Subs:
Jones, Pacheco, Skrtel, Aurelio, Lucas, J.Cole New Striker (Lukaku, Wickham etc)
Obviously not definate but i'm pretty sure it will be along these lines.

"we are a laughing stock for paying so much for carrol"

Sorry but could you back up where you're getting this from? Obviously, like the next fan I've watched and read a lot on this transfer as well as spoken to friends who follow other clubs and whilst they suggest the price may be on the high side, they have also to a man agreed that Andy Carroll is a good purchase. Potentially a great one

In fact the only place I've seen anybody complaining about him is on this very site. I'm really hoping you are Mancs/ Bitters/ Chavs or Spuds in disguise because if you're slating somebody before he's even played then we are well and truly h*cked. Makes a mockery of the qualities we pride ourselves on being LFC fans doesn't it?

He whose name shall no longer be spoken has gone and we have a new strikeforce. If they are sh*ep then you can all have your little gloat in 12 months time. If you're going to slate them before they've even started then as far as I'm concerned you can h*ck right off.

Dear you (yes - you!),

A few years ago you joined a decent firm, worked hard and became a valued employee. In fact, you became the best employee in the office. But everyone around you, save one or two, were total muppets and the firm was going nowhere. You're a few years off retirement and a rival firm comes in, offers to double your money, work with more talented people, allow you to live in a better location and achieve some tangible success. Are you seriously saying you'd turn them down? If you are, you are a total liar. So why boo Torres?

He doesn't have the emotional investment of a fan. It's his career, his life. Next time I see Liverpool play Chelsea there is no way I will be booing. After watching some of the dross brought in by Benitez and Hodgson over the last few years, Nando was one of about four players who brought me pleasure, who I was proud to think of as a red. Booing him would be completely partisan, one-eyed and moronic.

I've heard quite a lot about in fighting in the club. The latest one i heard was that Gerrard and Torres had an argument over Fernando's effort levels.( Well rumoured i know.) By all accounts Reina then jumped in to defend Torres and Carragher then jumped on Reina. Could this see the imminent departure of Reina, as the "Scouse Mafia" scare off another player. In my humble opinion Gerrard and Carragher have far too much power. I would rather see Reina stay and Carragher leave. I understand this is a bit controversial as Sand Jamie are untouuchable at the football club. But both are ageing and have far far too much say. I would rather have still had Torres and Reina, than Gerrard and Carragher. Gerrard seems to slow the play down more than anything this season. Without him our passing was fluid and quick. He may be becoming more of hindrance both on and off the pitch.

well said alex ferguson - you'd do better stayin on your own site own site

Hi Eds,

People were asking about availability for tonight's match. I've just been to the ticket office at Anfield (about 2.30ish).

They didn't say how many tickets are left, but they did say that they're in the Anfield Road end, or in the corner of the Centenary (at the Anfield Road end).

There are one or two odd singles in the main stand (I'm talking about tickets here!)

There is a lot of talk about the reception that Torres will receive from our fans on Sunday and a lot of people are saying they are going to give him a right go however I would prefer if rose above all that and actually clapped him and showed him what he has left behind - in terms of the calibre of fans anyway.

Liverpool fans are regarded as the best in the Premiership and some of the best in the World but the shirt burning done by some stupid few really reflected negatively on the vast majority-espcially those who burnt the Liverpool crest!

If we boo, jeer and heckle Torres I gaurantee that will just make him work/ play harder and will make him feel like he has done the right thing however if we show him respect for the 3 seasons he gave us and all those memorable goals then I bet he will second guess he decision and that type of doubt will only work in our favour then and everytime we play Chelsea.

What do you think?

02 Feb 2011 15:01:18

Interesting rumour about Reina, but i heard a slightly different one, that he was just as dismayed as anyone that Torres forced a move when he did. I think people are reading too much into Reina playing peacemaker, he's always been a level-headed character. I'll never discount the theory that a player may leave, but i'd stake my house on the fact that if/ when Reina goes he'll do so with dignity and respect for the club.

02 Feb 2011 14:56:02

We said macca about reina. . he regularly has come out and said he won't leave and doesn't wanna leave. he also said at times, that torres should come out and tell the supporters what he was going to do.

reina knows torres was playing crap.

lets support the boys and lets try and help them up the table. i do agree 4th isn't out of our reach. city have to play all of the clubs above us and including us away from home. there away form is as patchy as ours as been, and i don't see them winning any against utd/ spurs/ arsenal/ chelsea and us.
thats 15 points available. . when they play these teams our games will become 6pointers. .

Hi Ed's, just wondering if one of you can shed some light on something for me please? Is there going to be an official unveilling of Suarez and Carroll in their squad shirts at Anfield any time soon!. . they obviously been introduced to the worlds media, however I may be wrong but isn't it customary to do an unveilling at Anfield, photos in the stands on the pitch etc, touching the "TIA" sign in the tunnel that sort of thing! Cant wait to see the boys in Red with that badge on their chest!

{editor: I would expect them to be unveilled next week.}

We have had a few "Benedict Arnolds' in the past few years but only one has been successful - Steve McManaman! The Torres saga reminds me of the Michael Owen one - last minute decision to desert a new manager. The only difference is that then we sold a 25M pound player for 8M. This time we've sold a 25M pound player for 50M! When Owen decided to join Newcastle we expected that he would score a few goals against Liverpool in the years to come. I don't think that he even managed to score one! I would also expect Torres to score against Liverpool in the next 5 years or so. We just have to ensure that Liverpool scoreone more than Chelsea every time (or that he has as much success as Owen). Anyway, they are both history now and all being well we will have a great partnership in Suarez and Carroll. Good luck fot the rest of the season and for the future.

Just old enought to remember Sir Roger leaving, but probably not old enough mentallly to feel the pain.
Felt it when Keegan left but was soon forgot about him, when KK settled in! Gutted when he left, but fully understood his state of mind, at the time. He'd been through the ringer emotionally! Rushie, came, went, came back, and then we had the second coming; Fowler. I was devastated when he left, and to be honest I've never got over it! When he came back, I knew he wasn't going to be the same but seeing him score again, was like, I dunno. . Amazin!
Then we had a string of good and bad strikers. Some were sh*te, but they were our sh*te!
Nando was different, he was someone who we could idolise, and he felt like one of us. The last few months under Hodgson he was a shadow of himself. OK he's played a lot of football, and to be fair, he does get his fair share of injuries, so he was bound to be strugglin' Went into World Cup with an injury, and came out with an injury. Enough said.
What I'm trying to get too say, is maybe the time was right. The timing was wrong, but we all do things we regret sometimes; don't we! We'll should treat him respectfully, and thank him for the good times, and then move on! If he scores, hopefully we'll score two. ( I didn't mention Michael cos he's a gobsh*te!) I'll be sat in the Kemlyn tonight waiting for all the banter, and a win hopefully. We'll never walk alone, but I'm afraid Nando will eventually walk alone, because he's joining a bunch of mercenaries. He'll never be treated as well as he was here! we've had a good window. Good signings in Carroll, Suarez, and Steve Clarke. Ryan showed dignity, and I thank him for that! We're coming up the hill, and KK is behind us all the way! YNWA. Steve61

Big rumours doing the rounds at the moment that nesv have fooled lfc fans into thinking they are fabulous Et al . .when in reality they forced the sale of Torres and babel and still got away with it. .h&g would be proud of you John

And we sign a woman beater and someone nasty all without them putting a single cent of their own money . . classy

{editor: The owners spent thier own money, the Torres money has not come through yet.}

Ed your very correct, all the money spent was from the owners pocket, and the Torres money has been put into the summer transfer fund which will be approx 70m. If Reina leaves in the summer which I belieive to be certain from a good source, I would hope we get around 35m for him, which will also be put in the pot.

Ed i want to share my sentiments over the whole torres thing

he was a darling of the kop. every proper liverpool fan felt as he was part of the family so the reason we are all lashing out is cause its what has happened now is like a bad break up where the girl has left you for the rich guy and it really hurts and it will take some time to accept the image of him in blue. It will take time for all of us to move on.

However one thing is for sure. the love affair was not mutual. its sad that he didn't even come out with some good words for the support over the years. he owes us atleast that.

We really need to win on sunday and i hope we atleast come back with a result but a win would be great

. . . I just happend to be watching Sky Sports News yesterday. I couldn't believe my eyes who Sky had got to explain tactically on a screen where Chelsea are going to play Torres in their team. Not Terry Venables, not George Graham, not Glen Hoddle and not Matt Le Tissier. But who else but the man who said Liverpool were not a big club anymore a few weeks ago on Five Live, that tactical genius Lawrie Sanchez. It's amazing that when a former 'hoofer' from the so called crazy gang with absolutely no personality, goes to Specsavers and buys some designer specs that they suddenly become a tactical genius in Sky Sports eyes. Sky Sports is run by people who mostly support the London teams and this piece was all about rubbing Liverpool fans noses in it. . .

But why are you so angry with pundits?
Do you give them any credence?
Robbie Savage, Matt Holland, David Pleat, Alan Hansen, Alan Shearer . . . have any of them EVER said anything about the game in their summaries or 'inside views' that we have not said ourselves?

Shearer and in particular, Hansen, are CARTOON characters: everything they say is "sensational" or "brilliant, " "utterluy amazing" or "fantastic!"
NOTHING can top their superlatives so we tend to ignore the words.
SO . . are you telling em that we give these people any credit for spouting this nonsense?
I played the game for 30 years as an amatuer.
I haven't heard Hansen say about defending that we haven't heard in the changing rooms or pub after a game. It isn't rocket science, but we give him £200,000 and beleive it is.
David Pleat - once told us on ITV during a televised game that to score the opposition needed to pish up and get an extrsa man forward!
You telling me you couldn't have seen and thought that?
SO!
Ignore Lawrie Sanchez: he needs to work as he was kicked out of management and is too poor to be a manager these days. He needs to work, so the graveyard of punditry is what they have left.
Read The Guardian's sports section.
They have a column written by an anonymous professional footballer. He has been saying recently that pundits are laughed at in the changing rooms.
It's like being a novelist - you are unlikely to get a book deal for your new novel becuase you're a nobody. But Jordan or Posh Spice would - even though they can only write in big letters with a crayon - because they are 'faces!'
Leave Lawrie Sanchez alone. I've been on the diole and I know how sad it is and what he feels like!

Not technically true editor, they havent used their money as we also havent had to pay anything yet just like Chavski.

I am a massive fan of John Henry and Nesv or FSG, whichever. They handle themselves will a lot of decorum which is something we have needed for a long time. They see a long term future a future where if we get it right we along with Arsenal and Utd will dominate the financial side of the game as our revenues will far exceed Chavski and Man City. Have faith!

LFC fans loved Torres for sure not anymore. No fan will follow Torres LFC is loved more than any player , that's why the club is always bigger than any player. We are going forward without the babies from Spain who can only sulk and get home sick.

02 Feb 2011 13:43:07
The pressure is on torres and not lfc. He wants to score than let the game begin. He should be allowed to play and may the best man win. We shall play to win as always and will not be cowed by a player who got wages from lfc for 18 months sulking and nothing else. An average stiker would have performed better. He could play well only when he wanted to. That tells you what a character he really is and what kind of footballer he is. We saw Michael owen try the same and others no one will move LFC. We shall remain here and he will feel the pain of leaving lfc very soon.
Reds will compete at the highest level and the team will give its all. All the best i am pretty sure the devil will fall from grace very soon.

Ryan babel showed the type of class i always thought torres had by thankin the liverpool fans for everthing on twitter

well we thank you ryan most notebly for the winner against united, we wish u all the best in germany an i hope you go on to great things.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I agree with this. I think Torres could have done a short interview with the Liverpool Echo or LFCTV thanking the club and the fans. A few nice comments with Claire would have helped smooth things out a bit. Even Beckham talked to MUTV when he left United. Well done Ryan Babel.

02 Feb 2011 13:34:30
Torres will soon realise he will not be loved by them like he was loved by us. He will regret this move when he is on LFCTV in 20 years time reminiscing about his 3 and a half years.

A lot of talk of who we'll be going for in the summer - and rightly so. I'd be interested to see who Kenny will be getting rid of.

02 Feb 2011 13:18:00

Hi ed in your honest opinion why did torres leave, i don't buy the bigger club and cl bollox, it seems to me he is desperate to play and score against us, that is not the mindset of a player who loved this club, something other than football has defo gone on behind the scenes to make him feel like that, can you see ac saying he can't wait to stuff it up the toon i cant, somethings amiss,

Livescorehunter.com is a good source for live streaming. It has dozens of different streams, so when one goes down another can be selected.Love the site buy the way. Andy Carrol to prove all the doubters wrong and become one of the most feared strikers in the prem, is my pediction for the future

It seems apparent people need sites to stream the match, I've listed a few below that i use, Saurez to get a goal tonight to kick start the revolution! In KK we trust!

Myp2p.eu
Mypremium.tv (streams Sky Sports 1, 2, etc)
Vipstand.net

Also download Veetle and Sopcast as they seem to be popular players. .

Hi ed
where do you think we will finish now in the table
i think 5th. think 4th is just a little too much to ask for. if we had about 5 or 6 points more i think we could of got 4th but just too much to ask so 5th i think

what you think ed {ed's note - I do think we will be pushing for 4th.}

Classic example of people getting carried away again.
Let's face it we have just lost one of our two best players and although Suarez and Carroll have undoubted potential they will take time to bed in.
To finish 4th would probably require 68 - 70 points meaning 36 - 38 points would be required from a possible 42 and we still have to play the top five!
5th pace would probably need 32 - 34 points which is almost certainly beyond us as well.
6th is the best we can hope for this season. The rest of this season should be about integrating Suarez and Carroll into the team and giving a few of the youngsters game time.

Oh and I almost forgot - stuffing Utd at Anfield!

Hi eds please post in rumours.

Any thoughts would be welcome eds.
Cheers

{editor: I know one of the eds would agree with you. I am not sure about Torres though, I think he wanted the move to Chelsea in the summer and Gerrard was right to slate him for his poor performances. I hope Riena doesn't leave but I wouldn't think Carra and Stevie will go anywhere.}

I will enlighten his old man then.

Nando wants to play in the highest quality of football. He wants to play for a club that will challenge for the league and champs league. Do you honesly think he ever cared about the adulation from our supporters, if you do, you are dilluded.
He is a high class mercenary like all the others. We cannot offer him top quality football now, or in the forseeable future. I wish supporters would stop dilluding themselves, we are at best a top 7 team and far from being a top 4 club, let alone challenging for titles.
Suarez will struggle in the Prem, as he is too slow, and the Dutch league is not a good indicator of quality. When he kisses the badge on his shirt, remember who we thought loved this club when he was Liverpool's no9!
Andy Carroll was bought out of desperation. Mid-table Newcastle are about right for his qualities. .he is 35million miles away (plus add-ons) from the quality we need, but I suppose he will reinforce our mid-table status. Trust me, the top teams in europe were not chasing his signature!
So everyone, get real. We are not a club that can attract, or now keep hold of the best players, an everybody knows it.

Micheal

Micheal what crap are u talking man suarez is not slow have u seen him play saying that tells me u havent did you even watch the wc its fans like you that have no faith in liverpool fc that sicken me as for carrol yes hes wasnt worth 35mill plus but aleast he wants to be with us fights hard for 90mins did u newcastle match he was best player against us soto didn't even win a header against him come on steveG n raul n suares will feed off him plus hes a good finisher himself so grow up if all ur gonna post about lpool is doom and gloom don't post man as i think we can all agree nesv and kk has us beleving again that's more than what we hoped for

I have to say, what Steve Parker said is bang on the money. I am not from Liverpool but they are our neighboors. We were both born from the same parents in terms of clubs, bonded together after Hillsborough and the Reece Jones tragedy, Everton are our neighboors and deserve respect.

Ask yourself this, Everton vs Manchester United, who do you want to win?

02 Feb 2011 11:55:05

Been a Red for 45 years.
Live in London but still a red.
This pains me:

"ED, I keep hearing rumours that Everton are close to administration, is there any truth in this, i don't like them very much but football's not much fun without enemes! {ed's note - they are defo in trouble, not sure it is that bad, but something is seriously wrong there. I was told it was related to Moyes on the verge of walking out, but it could be that Moyes is ready to walk before the club folds.}"

My brother-in-law is 58 and a diehard bluenose. Wonderful rows over the years and banter between us about red v blue.
Although things have taken a turn for the worse in the past few years between us and them - remember the good old days of games labelled Merseyside? - I still think of Everton as 'one of us.'

I have nothing but sporting anger for MUFC.
I dislike Arsenal's aloof arrogance.
I can't abide Spurs and Harry's 'good old Cockney' comedy act . . . . guv'nor!
I destest (sad to say) Chelsea's inflated sense of their own unimportance . . . but I like Everton. I still regard them as 'one of us'.

There's something honourable and charming about Bill Kenwright and Moyes deserves respect for what he has done and with limited resources.

Steve Parker

Great post - I am 58, my dad was a blue, but I have been red since a little boy. The merseyside rivalry is sibling rivalry. We want them to be doing well, but not as well as us. I wish Everton all the best - the ultimate season was winning the double with them runners up in both.

id like the best thing that's happened. is that dalglish will buy more in the summer. .he knows we need wingers and some other important positions need to be filled. .but we have players who WANNA PLAY for this club. .simple!

so for me. im just gona sit and wait while all those teams out there think lfc are a dying team. they have no idea why a club like lfc always come back with a bang. .every top team have poor seasons jus check real madrid and ac milan and juventus over the last 6 yrs! !

also. i wanna say i hate seeing lucas playing as a holding midfielder. . .why? just check out his profile on youtube for gremio. .he was not bought as a holding player. .

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

100% aree about Lucas. He is never going to be a holding player of the class we need. Did you see his pathetic attempt to stop the ball when Carroll scored against us at Newcastle?
I think he was bought as a Gerrard covering player but now we have Shelvey who IMHO at least as good as Gerrard was when he was his age (the lads only 18)
I hope we buy a true holding player in the summer (MVila type) and release Poulsen and keep Lucas as a squad player for a short period before letting him go as our youth and youg player come through.
Although Mr Ed. what do you think of Gerrard as a holding player as he gets older? {ed's note - Gerrard is too lazy defensively.}

. . that doesn't concernme. I don't base my values on what others think, just what I believe and think. What I think about Everton is probably not what they think, but I that doesn't stop me saying it.
Kenwright is honourable and Moyes respected.
As a group of supporters we should rise above petty jealousies when it concerns very near neighbours.
After all . . . when Chelsea and MUFC say they don't rate us and call us 'average' these days, ask this question: where would you be if you only had to play each other?

other than that. . im waiting for august when the new season begins. i wonder what are 11 will be. . .! !

It is vital tonight that Suarez has something to get his teeth into. We need to give him the ball in the box. He is a striker with real bite and Stoke could be feeling down in the mouth if he scores two or three. He will want to nip in the bud any talk of defeat that could leave us down in the mouth tonight. That would be hard to swallow and he will clamp down on that sort of talk. My guess is that he will tear into Stoke and nibble away at their defence throughout the game.

Come on guys why sing for torres on sunday never mind the liverpool way, sing your hearts out for suarez he will need it more, how will suarez feel if all he hears is our fans singing for traitor, also from what was said yesterday on this forum, if torres had a fight with sg and pepe jumped in then cara had a go at him then sg and cara should have been the ones to leave, if like kk said no ones bigger than the club then why wernt they moved on, had they done maybe nando would still be here,

{ed's note - he would prefer to go back to the old system, the window only shut in March (I think it was) then reopened when the season ended. It was much better that way, clubs like Crewe could sell their players when they were performing well and get the maximum amount of income while their players were able to gain them the points to stay in a higher division. Now they spend all that effort coaching them and have to sell them before the season because they can't afford to wait.}

Morning all.
Harry Redknapp stated the other day that he would prefer if there was no January window, now this may be a silly question,
Does he mean that when the window shuts in August that it does not open again until July or does he mean it's open all year round? Could you clear this up for me please ED? {ed's note - he would prefer to go back to the old system, the window only shut in March (I think it was) then reopened when the season ended. And will that mean liverpool will be fit to spend more than city and chelsea if the want to? Can you answer that please ed i don't really understand the rule please, dessie

all chelsea and city have to do is use one of their parent companys to sponsor them 70 mill for example or sell a exec box for obscene amounts to a member of their family . . then it will be part of the turnover . . simples {ed's note - both have been provided for in the rules, neither will be allowed.}

Well surely that includes : shirt sales, gate revenue etc

Previous Post:

"Fernando Torres's father Jose says he sympathises with disillusioned Liverpool fans following his son's move to Chelsea"

"Even his old man don't understand!"

In Reply:

Micheal

Something in Saurez's mannerisms and the way he plays (the kinda goals he scores) reminds me of a certain Robbie Fowler.

Was thinking exactly the same thing myself. I watched several you tube clips and after about five minutes the penny dropped, he moves like Fowler, even when celebrating a goal (though he refrains from the "grazing cow"routine).
Keep your eye on Raul Miereles. I had that deja vu feeling with him and then realised that he moves very much like David Beckham. Check it out tonight.

Deep down i didn't want him (can't say his name)to go but i thought he's had loads of promises and been let down so i couldn't blame him for movin on but now what i am reading disgusts me. why is he saying all these things about us? he was part of the team that have under achieved this season and been let down by hicks & gilette. I just hope he doesn't get a bad injury! ! & team that were nothing before Abramovich don't win a thing and don't qualify for champs league.

Agree about not jeering Torres on Sunday. That would be the perfect way to demonstrate how a big club does things.
Carragher to nick the points on Sunday with a header from a corner in the 89th minute.

02 Feb 2011 09:44:07

This site, Facebook & twitter keep on about Torres & I'm getting sick of it! He's played his part in LFC's history & now he's gone so let's draw a line under it & move on.

Ed would be right in thinking that us and arsenal are better possitioned for the transfer market when the FFP rules kick in? With Utds debt, Chelsea always making a loss and City's lack of revenue? ?. . . . Surely with the rules we can spend bigger thab those teams in the coming windows. .

{Editor's Note: Payments on existing debts, such as Manchestr Uniteds, are excluded from the calculation. Much of Chelsea's loss have been on one of payments on coaching staff and high wages - so they should be in better shape.}

A Scunthorpe man who changed his name to Fernando Torres may have to switch it back after the Liverpool striker's transfer to Chelsea.

The life-long Liverpool fan formerly known as Shaun McCormark changed his name in December in honour of the man who was then Anfield's premier striker.

Now, after the Spaniard's record-breaking transfer, he has been left as exposed as the Liverpool back four.

He said: "I am gutted. Being a massive Liverpool fan made my new name the perfect fit".

At one time the 36-year- old father of four vowed to continue to follow his idol - even if he quit Anfield.

But following the £50 million transfer to Chelsea, he said: "I am considering what to do. I've not yet decided whether to change my name."

Scunthorpe's Fernando Torres McCormark, who runs a toy firm, last year paid £13.39 to take on the name of his former Kop idol.

At the time, he said: "He is the best thing that has ever happened to Liverpool FC. I also chose the name because I never liked the name Shaun and it never felt right."

The name change was said by the operators at the Legal Deed Poll to be the first of its kind in the UK.

Spokeswoman Tina Clough said: "We can appreciate how disappointed the Scunthorpe Fernando feels about his idol's move to Chelsea, but he could always rename himself Andy Carroll.

"Last year, 90,000 people changed their names and most of them stick with their new monikers.

"We did have one request from a mother who demanded her daughter changed her name back after she called herself Princess Barbie.

"We all had a giggle when Shaun's application came through. We often have applications from avid football fans, but this was the first we had for Torres."

Meanwhile, the Scunthorpe fan plans to carry on with a holiday in Spain. He just has to decide what his name will be when he goes there.

I think all fans going on sunday should do something that will completly shock the viewers and players on sunday. instead of booing and jeering torres, we should sing his song, chant his name and cheer every time he touches the ball. he will be expecting boos from the LFC fans but he was incredible for us and he will always be a red deep down every1 knows it.

So i say sing the song that was special on the kop and got anfield litterly bouncing. 1 last game then we get everything off our chests and move forward?

what does every 1 think?

Ed just wondering IF for whatever reason we win the Europa League will Babel and Torres get a medal. Also, what do you think are our chances of winning it?

Keith YNWA

{editor: I don't think that they would as they are not in the squad anymore. I think we have a good chance of getting through to the last 8, then it depends on the draw mate.}

02 Feb 2011 08:19:20

Not that I don't have faith in Suarez, but I don't think its the best idea to have him play lone striker for his first game in the EPL. I would probably pair him with Ngog or someone. Thoughts Ed?

{editor: I would do the same.}

02 Feb 2011 08:01:27
I do remember seeing the Torres interview on the Chelsea website and he said that he only has good words for Liverpool and that they made him a top player.
Cmon people when asked why u move to a new club on the clubs interview u can't say" i didn't want to come . i landed accidentally here".After all he has to impress the new club and fans. So he said that Chelsea are a top club. We all know why he went : money, Champions League and he thinks he has a better future there. Of course Torres could have done things in a better way but lets leave it. Torres was unsatisfied and that is not what inspires people to do better.
Let us focus on our future. Torres is the past as many good players were.Our future looks BRIGHT and EXCITING. We have good owners and management who know where they wanna go. We are building a great team and rebuilding a great club. I really feel I can see GLORY days somewhere over the horizon! !

02 Feb 2011 07:54:11
Torres not only insulted LFC with his comments but also his beloved Atletico. Bet his fans over there would not be happy either! Prima Donna, good ridance.

02 Feb 2011 07:52:20

To all the fans and the eds I posted on here Monday that Ashley Young would sign. I also said that if he didn't I would hang my head in shame well my head is hanging. To be honest I'm so happy he didn't sign never a Liverpool player in a million years. Would also like to tip my hat to Ryan Babel and wish him all the success with his new club. He showed Torres how it's done when leaving a club for pastures new with pride and dignity {who would of thought it}

LFC forever.

02 Feb 2011 07:44:47

Now that the fun of the Transfer Window Tombola has died down, we should start looking at who we need to sign in the summer.
My top target has to be Eden Hazard. The type of player who can go past defenders as if they weren't there, what we've been missing for years.

J496 YNWA

Forgot that we play them on Sunday, have you? Chavski back in the title race would also require them to beat us on Sunday. . who wants that? not me for sure.

To be honest I hope Chelsea lose all their remaining games and eventually get relegated.
Then we just have to catch up next season. With the new mentality, it can be done.

Can you please post this Ed, spoke to someone tonite who knows Torres, and I was slating him about what he had said bout going to a bigger club, and how that comment has upset alot of people, she mentioned that there's noway that Torres really thinks that and what was mentioned in the papers / media was scripted, wat he's been told to say from Chelsea. It would make sense, as Torres never came across as that type of person, it did make me wonder anyway, as we can only believe wat we read, which in future am gonna take wit a pinch of salt {ed's note - he never had to say it though.}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Eds right Torres didn't have to say it infact Torres could pretty much do what he wanted with regards to this transfer, abramovich wanted him that bad he could have told him where to put his script, abramovich was hardly going to call the whole thing off.

Check out my song for Suarez

to the tune of (Louie Louie by The Kingsmen)

Our Luis Luis
Suaaarez
just got a goal
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Our Luis luis
Suaaarez
yeah, he got a goal
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

A fine little striker,
from across the sea

Wears number 7,
like our King Kenny

Give him the ball,
and he'll show what he's got

He's got pace he's got skill,
he's got a cracking shot

he's our Luis Luis,
Suaaarez
he got goal,
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Our Luis Luis,
Suaaarez
he got goal,
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

what do you think?

Craigo

{editor: Very good mate, I was singing it in my head!}

Maybe Kenny's gonna look to promote Suso instead of bringing in Charlie Adam in the summer

I hope so, summers a long way away and we have a lot of games to get through, and the team need us behind them, not worrying about the summer transfer window.

Let us concentrate on our next 2 games, Stoke today, and the Scum from London on Sunday.

P.S. Eds, I have decided from now on I will send my email and name so you know any comments I make are actually from me. Couple of things to sort out. . .
Torres's buy out clause did not come into effect, it was only due to come into effect, if liverpool do not qualify for the champions league this season.

Not just this post, but I am tired of seeing about El Traitor!

He made his bad, let him lie in it, but he is gone and we have to move on as well.

We have new talent in Suarez and Carrol, and I personally think we have better depth now with having 2 excellent strikers than I was when we had El Sulko.

He is just a lying, money grabbing mercenary, let it go.

Get behind the team and lets see what the new boys can do for us.

At least these 2 want to be here, and that's always better than someone who couldn't give 2 hoots about us when the chips were down.

In KK and NESV/ FSG we trust.

I think you'll find Scott people had (shall we say) a dislike for Owen due to the way he ran down his contract and left for buttons £8mil and Nunez for the hottest property in football at the time far far prior to his move to the scum, that was just the genital wart icing on the dog s**t cake

{ed's note - Suso is more of an attacking mid, Coady is defo one for the future but apart from that I have not seen any that have stood out for me. That I can think of right now anyway.}

That's what we need though i think, is an attacking central midfielder to link up with forward(s) - Gerrard style. Has a good long range shot too does Suso.
Let's hope our young Spanish players don't jump ship now that you know who has left. (Pacheco, Suso, Ayala etc).
It'd be great if Coady saved us millions absolutely.
Have only seen him play 5 - 10 times but always looks quite good. Very early yet to say if he'll make it or not - Spearing for example & more recently Adam Pepper had big potential - Pepper seems to have faded away now totally though. Haven't heard a thing in months about him, shame really.

Totally agree with evz about singing Torres' song sunday! Cheap insults and hatred is NOT the liverpool way, ive been on the chelsea site more times in the last 24hrs than in the last 27yrs! Im struggling to come to terms with FT playing for them and finding it a lot worse than i thought! when he said he is NOW playing for a top club was a big mistake on his part and i wish he would have said some nice sentiments about us and our club in his 1st interview. but this is straight off cfc site, the w**kers in blue probs left this out of the televised interview on purpose!:

Don't remember the last time we purchased two players I was genuinely excited to see! We now have depth in the actual first 11. Height, skill, determination and power. A terrifying prospect for any defence! Also, Suso looks like the real deal! Cannot wait. Cest le vie Torres. You were special. As special as you will ever be.

Yes 3 sisters, hmmmm?!
The plot thickens ha ha!
Failing that, there is always Poulsen to fall back on :)
Irish Kev. {ed's note - can I fall back on his leg and put him out for a few games?}

How about for the season mate?
Hope KK sees he's not up to it - too old to adapt for one! We can't afford the time to wait for him too.
Personally i'd love Javi Martinez in the summer.
Cant think of any top young prospects (British or Irish) CM coming up (except Shelvey & McCarthy) instead. We need to replace Stevie Gerrard asap i feel. Not convinced about Jon Jo or McCarthy just yet. Maybe Suso in 3 years time but too early right now. Any top young CM's in Britain you can come up with ed that would be realistic? {ed's note - Suso is more of an attacking mid, Coady is defo one for the future but apart from that I have not seen any that have stood out for me. That I can think of right now anyway.}

Please post ed! great site.

I find myself on chelski website everytime im online.

When i first heard that torres wanted to leave, i thought well, ok then we'll let him go. unhappy player is no good for our dressing room.

On monday night when it was confirmed, i don't know about you lot but i was absolutly gutted.

Then to top it all off on chelski site he gave interview and said about all the big club nonsense.

Thinking about it guys, do you think the manc's or the gimpy gooners would have let their star player go to a big rival. I seriously doubt it.

We should have said, point blank no and that he could leave in the summer. Even if it meant playing him in the reserves squad.

I cannot stand seeing him in that blue shirt.

I believe the torres saga was not handled the real liverpool way. The old big club way.

What you think about it all ed? {ed's note - I think it was handled very well, get rid of any player that doesn't want to play for us as quickly as possible, so long as it suits us to do so.}

Something that hasnt been mentioned yet;

Liverpool were the only club in the EPL that looked after reporters outside their gates. SSN thanked them for letting them go inside the car park to film bits, thank them for the food etc etc.

LFC you continue to make me proud. :)

Harry Rednapp also took the reporters in mate!

'It appears your first game will be at Stamford Bridge on Sunday against Liverpool.
It is like the destiny. It is not perfect for me but we will see what happens and I only have good words about Liverpool. They made me a top player and gave me the chance to play at the top level. I will never say anything bad about Liverpool, I have been very happy there, but now the history is different and I am playing for Chelsea. If I have the chance to play I will do my best for Chelsea and hopefully I can score'

A little song i thought was funny. . (but for the bar)
torres is a judas. . we thought he was a red
but now hes down at chelsea
his wifes in JTs bed
juuuuuuuuudas juuuuuuuuuudas

however. . on the terraces we should sing his actual song. . the one we sang with passion. . in front of of all the dirty chelsea players and fans on sunday and see torres's heart break. . we're liverpool, we need to remind him what hes gonna miss, not cheap insults. .

the young lads burning the shirt will learn, they were hurt like the rest of us. . an emotional reaction the cameras encouraged. im sure they regret it. . naive and young.

fact is we're stronger and becoming a family again. walk on, walk on. .

YNWA - evz

totally agree with what you said with the above mate, because no matter what has been made out about torres he did love this club/ fans & in the end he just wanted to win something in his life but i bet he would of stayed had liverpool of been at the top end of the table. i know people are gonna go on about well if he really loved this club he would of stayed, but not everyone is loyal some players put winning in front of his love for a certain club & that's the sad truth nowadays.

Torres is now a nobody to the reds he will just be a footnote in our history - We ARE his History - we made him into the icon he is/ was lets stop the talk of the rat and look to the future with the new boys Carrol, Suarez and Thomas.

Think NESV have proved that they will look after the club properly and they are capable keeping up with the Cities manUre's and Chelski's of this world.

Think the Ed's have done a great job especially over the past few days.Thanks

Does anyone think next season we will start seeing suso, coady or sterling I hope so or any other young prospects and what has happend to Pacheco anyone think he should play in a 3 up front with Suarez and carrol might be a good move either way I think he deserves the chance of a run in first team like shelvy seems to be getting I think Pacheco is a better player than shelvy as well but then again I don't see them every day in training like kenny so I trust his decisions Ed you have any thoughts on any of this thanks {ed's note - I expect the 3 you mentioned to get a few games this season myself, and they deserve them. I agree on Pacheco, I would love to see him play, he would defo be way ahead of Joe Cole in the pecking order if it was up to me. Though I have to say that, much as I don't rate him as a player, his on pitch effort has been superb.}. - - - - -/ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Good it's not just me then I would love to see like I said carrol centre forward with Pacheco left and Suarez right of him think they would terrorise teams. I haven't actually seen coady play just heard he is good but how good actually Is he I have seen suso and sterling tho they look quality suso in particular Is the one I'm looking forward to seeing develope I think if taken care of he could be world class {ed's note - he captained England's U17s to the Euros in the summer as a central midfielder and was absolutely top class, reminiscent of Gerrard to be honest. Seen him a couple of times since as a centre back and he didn't look good though, it didn't suit him in my opinion. I can see him as our steel in midfield for the future, he has real bite and fire in his belly.}

I think already that Carroll not playing for us against Stoke he could be a bit of a miss. We all know how Stoke play and his presence could be excatly what we need up front and at Stoke's set piece's.

Whatever people think about the fee for Carroll, the good thing was that NESV acted swiftly to get a replacement for the Chelski no.9. Which could have left us with a major problem considering we only had 3-4 days to find a replacement.

The way i'm looking at the Suarez and Carroll deals is 60 mill for the both of them was a good deal. Because i value Carroll at 25-30 mill and value Suarez at 25-30 mill.

We could have had T***es and Ngog up front, now we will have Suarez and Carroll (which i think is a better partnership).

So we got rid of a Ladyboy and got a Bovverboy, only kiddin. If Carrol scares the CB's as much as Duncan Ferguson we won't do too badly out of this dealing.
Anyone else see the comparison (hopefully he doesn't end up in jail) just need a couple of wingers now, maybe a Cb and a left back and a replacement for Pepe in the summer. "Be prepared"
