obviously from liverpool's perspective we are excited about brewster, but of that U17's team. who are the players who people believe are going to have the best future, only ones i have heard of are sanho and foden.

It's hard to tell from the that age as they're still so young. But have a look at Curtis Jones in the u18s. Obviously, Ben Woodburn is looking like the real star though; he just turned 18 last week and is already very well known throughout the UK.

29 Oct 2017 22:21:56
Also as you mention Rhian Brewster, I wrote an article about him in April. Perhaps I could give that a little edit and it could be republished on the site seeing as he's become pretty well known over the last week. What do you think eds?

{Ed002's Note - please do.}

29 Oct 2017 23:19:57
Be good to read your article DaRedMan mate :)

30 Oct 2017 01:50:15
Definitely post it up buddy!

30 Oct 2017 15:29:00
It's such a shame we went out of league cup at the first hurdle. It would have been great for brewster, solanke grujic and ward just to mention a few. I hope they get a shot in fa cup (which I think we could win)

29 Oct 2017 18:18:36
Evening Redmen,

I have a rare free evening so I thought I would give you all the loan update whilst i have a spare 5 minutes.

Awoniyi came on for the final half hour but was unable to make the desired impact as REM lost 1-0 away to St Truiden.
The result leaves REM 9th after 12th matches.

Allan was a half time substitute as Apollon currently lead Doxa 4-2, there is 10 mins left in the game so hopefully they hold on for the win.
Apollon are currently 4th after 7 matches.

Ryan Kent was an unused sub as Frieburg lost 2-0 to Stuttgart.
Freiburg find themselves 1 point above the drop zone after 10 games.
Kent has had one start and a few sub appearances so far this season but so far is yet to make an impact.

Jordan Williams played the full 90 and got an assist as Rochdale drew 1-1 away to Plymouth.
Williams has started every game this season and looks set to have a good loan season at Rochdale.
Rochdale find themselves 2 points above the drop zone after 16 games.

Toni Gomes was an unused substitute as Forest Green won 2-0 at home to Morecombe.
Gomes has been a squad player so far this season, starting some and coming off the bench for others (other than today) . I imagine he will be happy enough with how his loan has started.
The win lifted Forest Green out of the drop zone and up to 20th after 16 games.

Origi's lack of form infront of goal saw him start on the bench for the first time this season.
At 1-0 with 10 minutes to go Origi was brought into the game and had the desired impact as he hit a 93rd minute equaliser.
Wolfsburg are down in 14th, 3 points above the drop zone after 10 games.

Chirivella played the full 90 and picked up his 3rd yellow of the season as Willem II lost 3-1 at home to Ajax.
Chirivella has started every league game this season so far.
Willem II are in the relegation zone on 9 points after 10 games.

Real Salt Lake and Brooks Lennon did not have a match this weekend.

Shamal George was again an unused sub as Carlisle drew 2-2 with Chesterfield.
George started the season as Carlisie's number 1 but soon dropped to the bench.
Carlisle are in 16th after 16 games.

Connor Randall is not yet back in the Hearts squad after his red card.
Hearts lost 3-1 to Rangers and find themselves in 7th after 12 games.

Ojo is not yet back from injury.
In his absence Fulham drew 1-1 at home to Bolton.
Fulham are 13th after 14 games.

Keita missed out through suspension as RBL played Bayern Munch but this time in the league.
Bayern ran out 2-0 winners.
RBL are 3rd after 10 games.

And that's your lot Redmen.

Good result at the weekend, not the prettiest match but we need to grind out a few results until momentum gets going again. Hopefully we get an important win mid week.

Believable11 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - cheers 23cg.}

29 Oct 2017 18:53:27
Thanks for the update, i am pretty sure Keita played vs Bayern. His red card from the cup doesn't carry on in the league.

29 Oct 2017 19:00:43
Thanks for the update. But Keita did play. But again for the second match in a row RBL had to play with 10 men as Obran was sent off at 13th minute!

29 Oct 2017 18:59:07
You are correct KloppisaKloon. I missed his name at first glance and assumed he was suspended. Opta gave him a 5.9 anyway so not much to report :)

29 Oct 2017 19:29:26
Cheers Carra, all good to know .

29 Oct 2017 19:42:27
thanks carra.

30 Oct 2017 00:11:28
Carra,
In your opinion how is the loan of each player going, god, bad or middling mate, love to hear if this loan thing is working for the club and the players.

30 Oct 2017 07:40:20
@mcgoveb

The loans look like they are more thought through by the club now. Most of the players above are getting regular game time.

The two of concern however are Kent at Freiburg and George at Carlisle. Both sit in the bench and barely feature.

30 Oct 2017 08:26:50
Thanks 23.

30 Oct 2017 11:09:43
@Carra, cheers for that mate, nice to see we are making positive progress in this area of the club so.

31 Oct 2017 09:30:00
Glad Origi is scoring goals (3rd of the season in all comps) cos we are going to need him next season if Studge leaves which I think he will.

29 Oct 2017 15:27:34
Hi eds, I was wondering does Klopp rate Gomez as a CB? Or will he continue to be used as a RB?

Thanks in advance!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is seen as a centre back for the future.}

29 Oct 2017 19:27:32
Is Gomez getting the Carra treatment Ed? I. e. getting minutes at right back in order to gain experience, or is it just a case of cover until TAA makes the spot his own/ Clyne comes back to platoon with TAA, and he'll be CB sooner rather than later?

{Ed001's Note - getting experience mate.}

29 Oct 2017 20:03:52
So Ed is it safe to assume that TAA will be our future RB?

{Ed001's Note - no, he is likely to move into midfield I believe. We are looking to buy one.}

29 Oct 2017 22:41:34
Midfield really! Are we actively looking for January or summer?

29 Oct 2017 23:15:01
Sorry ment to say RB for January or summer to bring in.

{Ed002's Note - Not at this time Barry.}

29 Oct 2017 23:46:25
We won't do that much in January. Who does? I really can't see us signing a rb in January with at least five players who can cover the position (senior) on the books. I think it will be a CB though and I wouldn't be surprisedif there aren't already one or two targets lined up already. GK is the other position but we have three above average keepers and I would expect one of either karius or ward to be given a decent run before we bring someone new in. Personally I think we should buy a GK and a CM or DCM who can dictate play and offer protection to the back four. I don't think lovren is as bad as he is made out to be sometimes. Our cbs would look much better with some proper midfield protection coz let's be honest, they don't get it from the fbs. Im a moreno fan atm but it's his attacking that I like, he wouldn't be the same if he just sat back, in fact he would probably be pretty awful. So rather than sacrafice a decent little player who offers a lot of output we should look to the midfield for that cover. Keita, Hendo and a dcm would be fantastic. Who the dcm is is the million dollar question.

Any realistic ideas guys? Coz I'm stumped.

29 Oct 2017 21:06:54
What type of midfielder would Arnold be ed? a box to box one?

{Ed001's Note - actually I think he will end up being a bit of a playmaker as he has some excellent passing range and good delivery of setpieces too.}

30 Oct 2017 00:00:40
Thanks Ed.

29 Oct 2017 12:45:07
Hi Ed001,

Been a regular visitor here since 2009, seriously great stuff mate from you, all the eds and posters! The articles have been brilliant, keep 'em coming I say ;)

Anyway ed since you are doing the legends profile what do you think of Rui Costa? I (vaguely) remember him dribbling and it was so hard for people to take the ball off him. What's your view mate?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - to be honest, I never saw enough of him to judge him, I will add him to the legends list so I can spend some time watching him play. He was always highly rated, but I only got the chance to see him for Portugal and they always flattered to deceive in those days.}

29 Oct 2017 12:57:42
Absolutely fantastic player good shout, I look forward to that one, I don't know much about his personal life but saw him play plenty and was brilliant. Will be good to read what you research on this fella ed mate.

{Ed001's Note - I am looking forward to researching him as I know little about him to be honest, I can only really remember how he looked.}

29 Oct 2017 13:09:45
Yeah I think you'll enjoy looking him up mate, definitely in the legend category.

{Ed001's Note - it will be a while though!}

29 Oct 2017 13:10:34
Wow that was a super quick reply ed, thanks for that! I agree, I remember watching them at the euros, shame considering the attacking wealth they had. I am guessing that kind of playmakers got phased out with the evolution in tactics? Something you would address in part 3 of the midfielders articles I hope? ;)

{Ed001's Note - ugh don't mention part 3, some idiot forgot to save it before an update made him reboot the comp. Not mentioning any names like, but total divvy move that one as it was pretty much finished at the time....}

29 Oct 2017 13:22:24
Is Luis Figo on the list Ed 01.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate. He is very much on the list.}

29 Oct 2017 13:24:09
I always remember him being the creative one for Fiorentina and laying ball through for batistusta to smash in on many occasions.

29 Oct 2017 13:25:57
Spot on, Corleone. Ed01, Rui Costa was a briljant player, a true legend. Rose from the Benfica acadamy before replacing another Portuguese god in Paulo Futre. Was part of the golden generation that gave us Joao Pinto, Luis Figo, Fernando Couto etc. Loved him a lot growing up.

{Ed001's Note - Paulo Futre, now there is a player that had been missed off the list until now!}

29 Oct 2017 13:48:26
Rui costa is one of my all time favourites. Spent a lot of time watching italian football as a kid and he was one of my idols.

29 Oct 2017 14:04:56
'{Ed001's Note - ugh don't mention part 3, some idiot forgot to save it before an update made him reboot the comp. Not mentioning any names like, but total divvy move that one as it was pretty much finished at the time. }'

Hahaha! I shouldn't laugh but I went through something very similar recently, it was either laughing or putting my PC through the window, got to laugh lol rage mode was engaged to say the least. Wasted around 4 hours of my life put it that way.

{Ed001's Note - I was just glad that I work on paper first or I would have lost a whole host of things, as I tend to work on 6 or 7 things at once. I usually do a little bit here, a little bit there and save it as I go but I wanted to get that one finished so just worked on it alone. I would say lesson learnt, but I tend to do something similar every time I reboot!}

29 Oct 2017 14:07:32
Oh no ed, that is painful. I am sure you would have no trouble recreating it.
Anyway looking forward to your profile on him and the other legends ed. Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Azk.}

29 Oct 2017 15:13:44
Good call getting the first draft on paper. I always do my essays on paper first. Anything can happen when we rely on machines mate.

Roberto di'Baggio would be an interesting legend. Not sure if you have done him yet.

{Ed001's Note - I write all my notes on paper anyway, that way I can continue to work on the articles when the comp is off or if the lekky goes off, comp breaks etc. Plus I find it makes it stick in my head better when writing rather than typing. What I type I forgot instantly but writing makes it sit there.

Baggio is on the list mate.}

29 Oct 2017 15:19:16
Wow Ed01, you do know your football, not that I ever doubted you. Futre is a protuguese football monument, near in the same breathe as the unrivaled Eusebio. I watched Futre play at the 1986 WC as well as his time at ATLETICO along with BERND Schuster and they totally destroyed RM in the 1992 Cup final with Futre scoring a blinder. I remember reading about how the Benfica fans were sad to see Futre go but he said an I quote, "Do not worry about me leaving. You have Rui Costa now". Boy, was he right.

{Ed001's Note - Schuster is a good shout for the list too. Added him to the list too. I vaguely remember him being a bit special. Mists of time looking back at these though to be honest, I was only a kid so it is just vague recollections.}

29 Oct 2017 15:36:02
Eusébio on that list Ed?

{Ed001's Note - defo mate.}

29 Oct 2017 15:36:24
Speaking of legends of Italian football is Totti on your list yet Ed001?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate he is on there. Me ma would never forgive me if he wasn't as she loved him. Only because she could wear a shirt with his name on the back admittedly.}

29 Oct 2017 15:39:53
Juan Valeron was a great player.

{Ed001's Note - I have added him to the list, I know nothing about him to be honest.}

29 Oct 2017 15:49:53
Are Johan Neeskens or Ruud Krol on your list? Krol especially. Very good attacking fullback.

{Ed001's Note - Neeskens is, another writer I know suggested him when we were discussing them and then went off and wrote his own article on him. If I could remember the link I would post it up so you could read it.
I have added Krol now, he was not on there.}

29 Oct 2017 16:02:05
Is Hagi on the list.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate. Do you think it is better if I post up the list for people to see who is on it?}

29 Oct 2017 16:12:42
That would be wicked plus save you a lot of hassle replying to multiple posts like mine.

{Ed001's Note - ok will do that now.}

29 Oct 2017 16:15:13
I asked about Pirlo and it never came through.

Here we were used to see and praise the Gerard’s and Lampards but Pirlo was on a different level.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - I was never the biggest fan of Pirlo, fantastic on the ball but so lazy off it. I don't mind a player not killing himself chasing back when he is as good on the ball as him, but he would actively avoid even getting his body in the way of an attacking run. Not a patch on Alonso, who was at least his equal on the ball. However I will put my personal feelings aside when I do the legends article for him.}

29 Oct 2017 17:05:17
One from left field, Johnny Haynes. England Captain up to the 66 World Cup and many thought he was still England’s best player when he retired from ain’t football and Charlton took over, would be very interested to know more about him. Possibly England’s best forgotten player.

{Ed001's Note - good shout that one.}

29 Oct 2017 17:20:25
Pirlo won Italy a World Cup mate . Cannavaro is secondary . Or do I say materazzi won them a cup!

29 Oct 2017 17:16:46
Is Jimmy traore on that list.

{Ed001's Note - ah somehow he seems to have been overlooked. Shocking no one has put his name forward before. Obviously his mother doesn't read the site....

By the way, the list is on the others page now.}

29 Oct 2017 18:29:14
thanks Ed01.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

29 Oct 2017 18:48:47
Have to ask ed is Enzo Fransecoli on there? Uruguayan midfielder such a classy player.

{Ed001's Note - he is now mate.}

30 Oct 2017 02:04:56
Also ed if you don't mind doing one of fernando redondo one of my favourite players.

{Ed001's Note - added him to the list, shocked he wasn't already on there as his name keeps popping up in research for other articles.}

30 Oct 2017 02:36:34
wheres the list? I remember ruben sosa scoring free kicks almost every week- amazing player, Enzo Scifo was such a cultured footballer and dragon stoikovich being great but I think injuries hampered him. one other that I think should have been a great was Redondo, played in the centre for Madrid but didn't get as much recognition for argentina as the coach wouldn't pick players with long hair!

{Ed001's Note - the list is on the others page though I am going to have to repost it with all the additions soon!}

30 Oct 2017 07:29:02
Mornin Ed!
Can you add Fabrizio Ravanelli-The silver Ghost.

{Ed001's Note - added.}

30 Oct 2017 08:21:24
Thank you sir! :)

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

29 Oct 2017 09:52:38
Got the three points yesterday. The first half was terrible but that was as much down to Huddersfield's defensive set up as our inability to create anything. Once Sturridge scored there was going to be only one winner. I don't know if it's stubbornness or balls but Klopp took a big chance naming Mignolet, Lovern and Milner in the starting lineup. Even though Lovern didn't play it could have all backfired. I can't understand why Can was the scapegoat for the Spurs game as he wasn't the worst player but I guess that's why I am not manager. Anyway not a vintage performance but three points none the less. Now for two more win's to set us up nicely going into the international break.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

29 Oct 2017 10:19:25
Can gave the ball away constantly against spurs and was responsible for one of their goals.

29 Oct 2017 11:15:14
I agree Can was poor last week against Spurs but strange how he is the only scapegoat. Not when the rest of the team we either just as bad or worse than him.

29 Oct 2017 10:59:09
Wasn't Can played out of position for the majority of the game.

29 Oct 2017 12:40:57
A win is a win. There are no easy games in the PL and 3-0 is a pretty emphatic win. Our "issues" are not a home. We have been very solid only conceding one goal and very few chances against us, even with Migs and Lovren, completely different away from home, so maybe changing the way we play away from home might be more important than certain players?

29 Oct 2017 15:26:06
Boys, let's just take the win and move on to the next game as we all know that this win proves nothing that our issues are solved hence, we take the positives, learn the lessons and hope for a better tomrw. YNWA!

29 Oct 2017 16:44:10
I think can was probably rested for the mid week game. I like him but am worried a tad about his commitment. I know he is a pro but he has less to fight for than some of the others as he probably won't be here next season, he may not be here come january. I hope he signs a new deal but it's not going to happen is it? Eds has he been offered anything recently?

{Ed001's Note - there has been no change, he wants to go.}

29 Oct 2017 23:51:28
Cheers for the reply ed01. Shame about Can, I think he is going to be massive. I reckon we will see quite a few midfield additions in the next year with can and coutinio all but gone and miner knocking on the door of retirement. Keita comes of course but I reckon we'll pick up a couple more. The team could look pretty different this time next year. Did that lad sari get a move in the summer? He is a possibility.

{Ed001's Note - Klopp does not really think Can is right for his midfield, so I don't blame Can to be honest.}

Liverpool v Huddersfield Match Review - A Liverpool Perspective

29 Oct 2017 10:06:02
{Ed's Note - we have posted a new article entitled, Liverpool v Huddersfield Match Review - A Liverpool Perspective

Believable3 Unbelievable0

29 Oct 2017 10:39:13
Thanks man, good report. I completely agree about Sturridge though, so sad to see this version of Sturridge, he never sprints any more.
Like as if he knows if he gives a 100% sprint he's out injured.

29 Oct 2017 10:16:27
Nice one mate thanks for that.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

29 Oct 2017 10:20:13
Thanks Ed, do you think we will see the likes of Solanke, Woodburn and Grujic in for th Maribor game?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, we need the win so I doubt we will weaken too much.}

29 Oct 2017 11:06:09
Cheers ed- reading that was more interesting than the first half.

{Ed001's Note - that is not exactly saying a lot. I struggled to stay awake for the first half.}

29 Oct 2017 11:46:22
Ed01, do you think Sturridge deserves the starting position or would you rather see Solanke get it? I just don’t see the effort from Sturridge that I think Solanke would bring with regards to the defending from the front.

{Ed001's Note - right now Solanke deserves the place, but Sturridge needs games to get back to his best too. I can see good reasons for picking either.}

29 Oct 2017 17:18:18
When you just beat a team 7 nil to play so soon afterwards could be dangerous.

29 Oct 2017 18:17:26
Great review as always Ed, but one question, why does Gini struggle to score a goal during away games and could you ever envisage he only gets picked for home games in the future?

{Ed001's Note - because he hides away and yes, or gets sold because you can't put up with a player that only turns up for half the games.}

29 Oct 2017 18:41:22
Thanks for the quick reply Ed, always appreciated. I wondered about the selling bit too, although I'd love to see him break the away goal duck too and go on a roll, trouble is the longer it goes on, the harder it will be!

{Ed001's Note - he doesn't make the same runs away. He plays safe. Lacks bottle for me.}

29 Oct 2017 08:51:35
In the end, I'm glad we missed the pen. Everyone would have said we needed a dubious decision to make the breakthrough.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

29 Oct 2017 09:15:47
Agreed! It's just a shame that Salah didn't get a goal - he would have matched Fowler and Mané's joint-record of 6 goals in their first 10 Premier League games. Alas, he'll have to settle for 5!

29 Oct 2017 09:21:53
It wasn't dubious though. Firmino was running in to get on Matip's knockdown and he was blatantly pulled back.

I hope nobody let's Joey Barton's shockingly biased radio commentary change that. It was as stone wall as they come and the ref bottled it by not booking Smith as well. Anywhere else on the pitch it is.

We must have had 10 penalties like that against us when Skrtel was here and nobody ever called them dubious. People just said he was careless and trying to cheat.

However, i do agree that there's a silver lining, because there still would've been people saying it was dodgy, even if it clearly wasn't dubious. Just like people are saying we needed a terrible defensive error to score, whilst ignoring the fact that they made the error because of our constant pressure on their defence.

{Ed025's Note - i agree MK there was nothing dubious at all it was a stone wall penalty..

29 Oct 2017 09:26:53
It's a shame for my dream team.

29 Oct 2017 09:48:06
Not mine Den, i had Lossl in goal because i knew he'd turn up at Anfield and play a blinder. Every opposition keeper does 😂.

29 Oct 2017 13:59:44
MK? Smith was indeed booked for the shirt pull leading to the penalty and YES? it was a stone wall penalty. I saw the pathetic Andy Gray saying it was a soft penalty BUT was not there a rule put in place last season warning players to stop the shirt pulling or penalties would be awarded? I guess he and the useless Barton forgot all that.

29 Oct 2017 08:41:51
I missed the game so can't wait for the review 👍🏼.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - oh good point, I will do that now!}

29 Oct 2017 08:20:12
Quick question with Sanchez available for roughly 30 million (if reports are true) in the January window, should we not try for him? Quality player who could also play a more advanced role as well as wide if needed.

If Coutinho does leave which most of us are expecting and possibly in January then we will need a creative player. I'd love us to get Sanchez and Lemar if possible.

That would just leave the defensive issues to resolve.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

29 Oct 2017 08:43:38
He rejected us when we tried to bring him and prefered London.

29 Oct 2017 08:50:51
Coutinho clearly still wants out so say selling him for 90-100 mill and replacing with Sanchez for 30 mill would be exceptional business. Sanchez's wages would be a sticking point but what we save on Coutinho's wages (150-200k) will go into Sanchez's reported 300k a week demands. That would leave 60 mill on top of whatever else we have to improve our defence. However as good as it sounds Sanchez to City is the likely option and we won't even test the water with as much as an equiry ourselves.

29 Oct 2017 08:55:38
I would go all out for Antoine Griezmann. Change formation to 4231.

Mane left, Bobby as a 10, Salah right and Griezmann up top?

I think we would be better off?

29 Oct 2017 08:47:55
I don't disagree that he's a great player, but i don't see the need for more forwards like Sanchez. We already have Mane, Salah, Firmino, Chamberlain, Sturridge, Lallana, Solanke, Gini, Origi, Ings, Ojo, Kent, Wilson, Woodburn, Brewster etc. All of whom can play in the front 3 in one way or another. You could argue that the first 10 in that listare good enough to be starting games in the premier league.

We have plenty to create and convert goals, with various different playing styles. Sanchez is just another forward though. Probably better than any we have except Mane, Firmino and Salah who he is just as good as. So he'd definitely add competition and cover for injury or suspension without losing any level in performance. I'd consider it if we had no glaring issues, and just wanted to make upgrades to the team.

The reason we struggle to score at times though is because our transition play is too slow. We have no link from defence to midfield because Henderson is dropping too deep and ending up alongside the centre backs, and we have only two senior players capable of properly linking attack and midfield; Coutinho who wants to leave, and Lallana who is aging and injury prone.

For me, when we sell Coutinho i would firstly like to try playing a slight variation of the 4-4-1-1 that Leicester played 2 years ago. Basically put Solanke or Sturridge up front and drop Firmino in behind as a second striker, where he played for Hoffenheim. It gives him less goal scoring responsibility so he can focus on collecting the ball from midfield and looking to be creative. To do that though we'll need to have a solid centre mid partnership. At the moment we just have decent individuals, who all do a similar job. So I'd invest the Coutinho cash into a solid defensive midfielder such as Obiang or N'Zonzi to give us options with the system, Keita is incoming anyway, and then spend the rest of it on the defence and goalkeeper situation.

No need to change an attack that has scored in pretty much every game this season with sometimes very average service. The problems lie elsewhere and the likes of Sanchez merely paper those cracks. Firmino could offer an internal solution if Coutinho left, but if not then i think Lemar would be a stellar signing because he links midfield to attack superbly, but can also cover in the attack. Not sure it's a priority though.

{Ed025's Note - "competition and cover"...your having a giraffe MK, if he went to any club in the prem he is first name on the team sheet thats for sure, he is slightly better than mane and salah and light years ahead of firmino being that he scores on a regular basis and is also a scorer of great goals, you really need to take them red spectacles off at times mate or wake up and smell the coffee at least..

29 Oct 2017 09:05:47
Mk you answered your own question in your opening segment. Yes we have all those players but like you said Sanchez is a great player. Only Mane comes close to him in my opinion.

29 Oct 2017 09:08:33
I would love Sanchez at Liverpool, he's just excellent but it isn't going to happen, we all know that.

29 Oct 2017 10:44:58
Ed has to be asked could you see Liverpool at least making an enquity in January for Sanchez?

Firstly given his contract situation (6 months left), and price.
secondly as he’s a quality player who can play a number of roles and scores a lot of goals.

and finally as we may lose Coutinho in same month.

It would be baffling to me if we didn’t at least enquire, I know people will say he rejected us before but we are a different club from then in my opinion.

It’s clear Coutinho still wants out so need to get best possible deal for him.

For me Lemar, Sanchez and Van Dijk in January would be as good a January window as the one we signed Coutinho and Sturridge.

{Ed001's Note - he turned us down to join Arsenal, it is unlikely he would be interested.}

29 Oct 2017 10:20:28
If Coutinho goes we should go for Insigne.

29 Oct 2017 10:30:19
Only Mane comes close to him? what a load of tosh. Coutinho and Salah are much younger and can easily match and overcome Alexis Sanchez current level.

29 Oct 2017 10:47:44
I don’t understand people saying he moved to London over us last time. Things change if he’s willing to sign for city then he’s happy to move the north west.

29 Oct 2017 11:11:54
Kloppisakloon the original post was regarding Sanchez replacing Coutinho hence why I never compared them. Doesn't matter what tosh anyone is talking Sanchez is a world class player. Take the tinted glasses off.

29 Oct 2017 12:05:58
Jayden, Sanchez has 2 goals this season. That is literally it in all competitions.

Mane has 3, Firmino has 7, and Salah has 9. Daniel Sturridge has 2.

Sanchez is not world class anymore. If he is, then so are the 4 guys above. 2 seasons ago I'd agree but this is a player who is nearly 29 and for me is showing signs of slowing down. Maybe he just isn't trying because he wants to leave? In which case i don't want his poor attitude around our squad anymore than i want Coutinho's poor attitude. Sanchez is definitely good enough to get in our team as a regular, and he is definitely a better goal scorer than Firmino and Sturridge despite his poor form this season in an admittedly average Arsenal team.

He isn't so much better than what we have though, that I'd sign him ahead of some defenders or a defensive midfielder.

Everyone lost their heads that we signed Chamberlain, Salah and Solanke but failed to add a centre back. Now people are asking for us to sign more attackers?

Sanchez is a top player mate, but if you think he's a priority signing, it's not other people talking tosh, to be honest with you. Sanchez would be an awful replacement for Coutinho considering we want Coutinho to play in attacking midfield. We should be targeting somebody who is a natural attacking midfielder, or looking towards dropping Firmino slightly deeper to be a second striker. Maybe even give Woodburn or Grujic a chance. Not signing more strikers and wingers to add to the 10 we already have.

Fix problems first, make luxury signings second.

29 Oct 2017 12:30:22
Mk good comment mate. However you started your argument with he is no longer a world class player and is showing signs of slowing down to then say he is a top player a paragraph down. I don't think another attacker is a priority signing mate but if Coutinho goes and Sanchez becomes available for 30 mill then that changes the situation for me. Last season he scored 24 goals and had 10 assists in 38 games. If that is him slowing down then I'd hate to see him speeding up. I totally agree with you about his attitude but I think that is the modern day footballer. If they don't get their own way then it's the fans and club who suffer. As I said further up the money left over from Coutinho going and buying Sanchez would still allow us to buy in priority positions. Again I agree with fix problems first and luxury signings second but we've had these problems for the whole time Klopp has been here and they haven't been addressed so I wouldn't hold you're breath mate. Ps my talking tosh was in reply to KIK. I respect you're opinion and although mine differs it doesn't mean either of us are right or wrong.

29 Oct 2017 09:41:22
Ed025, you're putting words into my mouth buddy. I didn't say Sanchez would be the one to miss out on starting. I clearly stated he was as good as all 3 of our current front 3 and, just said he'd give us better competition for places and stop us from suffering from a lack of quality when someone is injured. That doesn't mean he'd be there just to cover injuries. It's a squad game nowadays. All i meant is we'd have 4 top class attackers vying for 3 positions. Not once did i say he wouldn't get in our team. There would be games where he might miss out, just like he does for Arsenal sometimes, but he would be a great signing for us IF we didn't have at least 4 positions at the back which are glaring weaknesses. I'm not sure how he is first name on the team sheet though either, when he is regularly dropped by Arsenal for Welbeck or Iwobi. Sanchez is best out wide and we have Salah playing miles better than him this season, and Mane who is regarded by many as the best winger in the league, despite his stop start season.

I did make it pretty obvious that he is as good as we've got though. I'm not sure i agree that he is better than Mane or Salah (I'd say they are all pretty much equals if fit and on form), but he is very, very marginally better than Firmino in my opinion. Firmino has a better all around game and suits our style better, but Sanchez is lethal anywhere inside 30 yards.

I just don't want to see us wasting time and money trying to negotiate a deal for a player who Arsenal don't want to sell, which will clearly result in a 4 week saga of "will he, won't he" when the club should be focusing on other areas. Our transfer team are proven to be incompetent at best, so i don't want them to have any unnecessary distractions when they should be sorting out a deal for at least a centre back and a defensive midfielder.

I'm not sure if that makes my point clearer or not. Would i like Sanchez? Obviously. Is it a priority signing? Obviously not.

{Ed025's Note - i did only "quote" what you said in your original post MK, but like most things on here one player being superior to another is an opinion nothing more nothing less, i cant see us falling out over it mate..

29 Oct 2017 09:46:14
I did also say he was an upgrade to the team Ed025. It's just an upgrade that is not top of my list right now, and should not be top of the clubs list either. If we sign Sanchez and fail to add a defender again in January, this site will need a better server because the wave of abuse that will come in will be unprecedented.

Alderweireld is also in a contract dispute right now, so why not try and do a deal there? It is about as likely as the Sanchez deal is, and at least it solves a problem area!

{Ed025's Note - the thing with sanchez is that he is out of contract shortly and has expressed a wish to leave arsenal MK..

29 Oct 2017 12:54:30
It's cool Jayden. Just to clarify i think World class is a term reserved for the very best in your position. A top player is just a great player though.

Sanchez was very good at times last season but he also got dropped a few times due to his poor performance levels in periods. This season he has been poor in general. I think in a better side he still has 3-4 years left at the top of the game, but i don't see him getting 24 goals ever again. His explosiveness will fade over the next few years and if it doesn't then he is more impressive than I'm giving him credit for.

I hope nobody got me wrong. I'd love Sanchez at Liverpool. I wish we'd got him 3 years ago when Suarez left. But i want a centre back and a holding midfielder even more and our transfer negotiators are far too useless to do more than 2 deals in January!

29 Oct 2017 13:17:35
You are speaking too much sense at the moment MK Scouser, great posts man!

29 Oct 2017 13:21:58
Mk no worries mate. Totally understand what you're saying. Every comment on here is subjective and I personally believe Sanchez is one of the best in the league. That's not me saying our front 3 are crap on the other hand. Totally agree with you on our transfer team and to be honest I think it's more likely that we will not strengthen in January over buying luxury signings or priority positions.

29 Oct 2017 14:06:27
MK, I disagree. Sanchez is a world class beast of a player and you will see what he does with City cos even now playing for Arsenal, he is STILL class even tho, he is not interested in playing for them and cannot stand the sight of Wenger. This has nothing to do with how good our front three is cos the whole PL is aware of what they can do. There is a reason why teams park the bus vs us, even Utd. They are terrified of us.

29 Oct 2017 15:57:24
Point is it’s quite a rare situation to have such a quality player is available for a low fee, and who wants to leave. He’s a threat and would improve any team in the league currently in my opinion. He can cover a number of positions, scores lots of goals, and creates also.

We do have Mane, Salah and Firmino, but how many times have we lost Mane in last 12 months? A lot and it’s shown.

We on the other hand have a player who scores goals and creates who wants to leave, and possibly in the next window. The money Sanchez would cost compared to what we will receive for Coutinho gives us still a very good profit. Sorry but it’s a no brainier for me. I think he’d enjoy Klopps style of play and would flourish. 30 million is a great deal.

{Ed025's Note - i think so too jones..

29 Oct 2017 17:56:41
you are living in a fantasy world where Sanchez wants to join Liverpool, get real Jonesred, this is the real world not football manager 2016!

29 Oct 2017 18:51:29
I don’t play video games.

29 Oct 2017 06:17:37
Morning Eds,
Happy for the win yesterday and clean sheet but slightly flabbergasted that Klopp hasn't taken the chance to bring in Ward or Karius for a on paper low key game.

Do you or your sources have any idea of the long term plan? Does he now rate Migs?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Ward is injured. The plan was always to replace Migs, which is what makes all this all the more bizarre.}

29 Oct 2017 07:03:00
does anybody think that having ward or karius in goal would really have prevented the level of mistakes we've seen this season? I highlight HIGHLY doubt that. I think having Ward or Karius in goal in front of Liverpool fans is the the worst thing for their careers. ye sure it could be what makes them as players, but to be honest, some of the support just feels so poisonous at the minute.

29 Oct 2017 07:55:10
It would have prevented the mistakes we've seen from Mignolet. That's pretty obvious.

29 Oct 2017 08:17:45
Either my mind is out there in pluto because I just woke up or I am normal and don't understand your post faithinworks? How can it be bad for their careers am I missing something here? Having EITHER of Karius or Ward in goal would've been an improvement on Mignolet there's no doubt about that, he wasn't tested yesterday which is why we got the clean sheet. All the mistakes he's made this season already and your practically saying we should stick with him?

29 Oct 2017 14:13:03
Corleone, Faithworks is not wrong even tho, I see your point. Karius has been targeted by some in pour fan base cos he made two or three mistakes lst season and want him gone. This is why they made a mountain out of a mole hill about it as if no GK has ever made a mistake before.

Thomas Lemar

Nice one Ed01. let's hope he will replace Coutinho.

29 Oct 2017 07:47:07
Good one Ed mate, I know he's linked with quite a few clubs including us, should he come over if/ when Coutinho goes would you be happy about it mate?

I must admit I've only seen him play a handful of times but from what I've seen I wasn't too impressed. But again I have only seen him a few times so I can't really go on that.

{Ed001's Note - he is a bit hit and miss, but they had so much attacking talent he wasn't given as much freedom as he looks to need. I would be happy with him but I expect him to go to Arsenal.}

29 Oct 2017 08:13:21
Would you see us trying for Sanchez in January. 30 million is still a fair price to get someone of that calibure.

{Ed001's Note - Alexis Sanchez? I wish.}

29 Oct 2017 09:11:27
What about Antoine Griezmann. He looked nailed on to utd until Athletico had a transfer ban until Jan. Mancs then went for lakuku. Could we pull it off. What’s people’s feeling on this?

29 Oct 2017 10:27:38
Peoples feelings is stop talking football manager fantasy BS man! Not in a Billion years will we ever sign Antoine Griezmann, let it GO!

29 Oct 2017 10:54:32
Thank s for reply ed. It does baffle me a bit that we don’t at least enquire.

He’s available and for a low fee.

He willing to move to the north west.

He’s versatile and can score goals.

Already plays in prem.

We play a style that would suit his game.

We can match his wages.

We have a manager who would play him every week.

We’d be mad not to try given his availability and fee.

{Ed002's Note - I wants to play at the highest level and be challenging for the domestic and Champions leagues.}

29 Oct 2017 11:26:05
Sign up ed 002 then. We can match your ambition.

Hello Ed01, don't you like to have Wilfried Zaha at Liverpool?

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - god no. He has ability but doesn't use it, partially because he is too busy copying Tom Daley for long periods of the game.}
