Mata is a quality player let's just live in dream world for a minute imagine him in our squad with a young midfielder to back lucas up not much more I would improve on

Mata and ''Villa's'' Fabian Delph would signal some real intent!

J.Pastore and K.Mitroglou: last year we spent £20.5m on Sturridge & Coutinho in January. this season an extra £10m should be able to be afforded if we are still in a good position come christmas as those two would probably cost £30m give or take a few mill.

Pastore is just class and needs a club to play him like Coutinho, Sturridge, Sakho, Toure. we need him because he can play central or wide and his skill on the ball is reminiscent of kaka no exaggeration. Granted his form hasn't been great of late but once they come to Liverpool that all changes anyway.

As for Mitroglou we need a proper striker to keep our striking options "strong" [not physically but in terms of level of ability]. Aspas is another one that doesn't know where he actually belongs on the pitch, same goes for Borini. we don't need guidetti or hernandez or traore we need a more mature striker that is also known as el pistolero. {Ed002's Note - Sign in please.}

Hi folks, what's the best way to get a ticket for the away end at the Emirates on Saturday? It's sold out but do tickets get returned etc or could I pick one up outside the stadium?

Cheers.

Ed002,
Hope you're well. Was just having a browse over other sites to see who the rivals might be interested in and I noticed that on the Arsenal page on the 20th October you gave a summary of players that you believe or know that they have scouted, are considering or are certainly interested in.
It may be a lot to ask but I was wondering if you could give us a similar thing on the current situation with Liverpool?
Thanks mate. {Ed002's Note - Try in a few days when I have more time. There won't be any shocks as I think everything is out in the open at this time.}

Thanks as always mate

wonder will brendan play wee coutinho sat, I think with the emirates a big pitch possesion will be d key, I understand henderson playin well, but don't want to invite m on, we cut cut them apart with coutinho suarez and sturridge, prob one game too early for him tho, plus henderson got the energy, maybe last 20 for coutinho, think suarez and sturridge could murder them, they play a lot a ball around mid,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mate I wouldn't class coutinho as a "possession" midfielder. I agree that he is capable but I think that his directness is his strength. I would be wary of changing the lineup to much and think our midfield is, at the minute anyway, a heck of a lot weaker without henderson in it.

Agree0 Disagree0

We could drop gerrard.
with his years I don't he would do much in much mobile and menacing arsenal midfield . I still would prefer allen over coutinho like a direct replacement for gerrard on the pitch . I think allen would offer more than gerrard in terms of pace and intensity in that part of the midfield.
against an opposition like arsenal it would be difficult to pass the ball . so we need someone with energy to run around like hendo . so its hendo allen lucas midfield for me.
its a big decision gerrard is class but he needs some time to sit and analyze his game good and where he wants to play. a two three game from bench would do him worldly of good.
however that said, if we drop gerrard who delivers our set pieces? this is a prob really, but I still would want to drop gerrard for allen against arsenal. even though allen is short of gametime. get gerrard and coutinho on the field in the last 20-25 min as impact subs if required.
we have a host of big matches coming up ( everton man city chelsea tottenham )and to be honest arsenal seems the easiest out of them, because there defence is weakest ( out of the other top teams)and our attack is strongest. any ways I think we can beat all of them good if we get coutinho sturridge and suarez firing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hendo, Allen, Lucas - what a joke!
Allen is rubbish, and SG is STILL our best player. The doubters will only realise what they had when he's gone. Ungrateful sods!
Midfield of Lucas, SG, Hendo to start, Coutinho to come on later when the game is stretched

Hi Eds, hope you're well.

I previously seen one of the Eds (sorry, not sure which Ed) mention that Alonso could possibly fancy a move to London/Chelsea. It just got me thinking, isn't that an area Chelsea need to strengthen, and surely he must have a good relationship with Mourinho? Although I don't like to ask how 'likely' a transfer is going to happen, but do any of you Eds feel a certain amount of confidence that this transfer could be a genuine possibility?

It really would break my heart to see Alonso sign for Chelsea. Whether he plays world class or terrible, I'd hate to see it.

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I am sorry you find it so upsetting. I really don't see it happening myself. I see Alonso's options as Galatasaray (can't see him moving there now), New York Red Bulls, Colorado Rapids or LA Galaxy (all possible) and finally Real Sociedad (in the future perhaps). I can't say the most likely thing to happen but I could give an opinion that he will move to the MLS (maybe the NY Red Bulls) and then return to Spain to end his career with Real Sociedad.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is there a chance of Liverpool? {Ed002's Note - It is what it is. If Liverpool is interested they have an enormous amount to do to strike a deal. They have not shown and interest and his interest is clearly elsewhere.}

Just throwing this out there but what does everyone think about Agger playing the left wingback position against ars? To me our two left backs give the ball away to much and tune out on crosses to the back post. I know Agger is not an attacking player but against Ars at home I think he would be the smart choice, strong, fast and in the past has shown that going forwar he can be dangerous and if he can get a shot off with his left its a rocket. Prob will never happen just thought i'd see if I was the only one thinking it.

Thanks
YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Enrique for me mate (if fit). If he isn't fit then I would be happy with Cissokho.

If Agger is to feature I think he could come in for Sakho as his experience would be an advantage against top level opponents.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance, he's a centre half, maybe in a back four lb position he could do a defensive full bk job, never as a left wing, not quick enough and would struggle to get up and down, like carra was a good defensive left r right back but not great up the field, enrique is quality . don't know why folk on here slate him, he's solid and and fair enough he's not got the greatest deliverys and pressing, either does ashley cole and he's regarded as a great

Agree0 Disagree0

And you mention our LB's tuning out on crosses, of all our CB's Agger is probably the weakest on crosses IMO.

Glad to hear Rodgers say that he has always wanted to play with one controlling midfielder (Lucas) and two midfielders in front of him (Gerrard/Hendo/Coutinho). This is what we have always been crying out for, to be less defensive. Now this should spice things up!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Rogers was playing it safe at the start with no suarez them coutinho got injured so he kept the playing safe and picking up points system working now we're near a fully fitted squad and confidents is high we were play with flair

Thank you Brenden for what you have done with our club so far.

We have gone from strength to strength and in under 2 years and we look like one of the deadliest teams in the premier league again.

We have not won any cups and didn't get into the champions league, but you asked the fans for time and explained it would be a transitional period. If 1 year is all you needed to achieve this then wow.

Still a long way to go but, he has far exceeded my expectations and I will be beaming if he achieves top 4 this season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Brendan has achieved nothing and needs to get us top 4 this year with the money he keeps spending.
Stop deluding yourself after 9games

Agree0 Disagree0

While Noshbag maybe getting a little carried away. I do think Jessie that Brendan does deserve some credit. He's taken a team that need changing/wages slashing and turned us into a decent footballing team. Title winning? NO. Top 4 is certainly a possibility if we can keep up this performance level and keep our bestplayers fit

Agree0 Disagree0

What money has he spent, its been less than 40million if you count the funds generated from sales? it you look at the ins and outs i'd say that his transfer business has been brilliant. our squad is consistently improving, just match up our form from the first 9 last season to the first 9 this year and you'll see the progress. keep positive and YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE!

Agree0 Disagree0

We are top 4 and look like we will make a good challenge to stay there.

You need a little belief and less criticism.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pinky he's slashed d bill and ridded us of some jokers in downing and cole and carrol d big earners, mans doing a fine job, 6 t 7 teams vying 4 that top 4, hardest its ever been, GR8 JOB he's doin

Agree0 Disagree0

Jessie.
I agree mate he hasn't won anything yet.
But he has achieved an awful lot.
Cutting the wage bill by getting rid of over paid players.
A couple of astute buys in the transfer market.
Starting to play attractive football again.
Louis Suarez staying.
Starting to look like a team that are capable of winning something!
Other teams fearing us again.
A great team spirit.

All of this was lacking before Brendan Rodgers arrived, I questioned the decision of appointing him as manager, but he has done very well in my opinion, long may it continue!

I don't think he will remain with us beyond summer, regardless of CL.Reaching Top4, is just the entry, Arsenal and chelsea along with UTD reaches every year, and then what?, they don't cross the QF or SF, 3 teams does that most years, Real, Barca and Bayern. He wants to Win the CL, we are miles away from it, and most English Clubs are.
I would sell him personally next summer for a huge money even If we reach CL, We need 5-6 Execptional player sto break bayern, Barca, and real to be a notable team in the CL era.
Luis suarez is just one among them, rest would cost us above 70 millions, and we don't have those kinda money.
Arsenal recieves 40-50 mill from Cl every year, and that's it. They don't cross the QF berth, because they simply don't have players.
Real and Bayern Bench players would be better than Arsneal and Chelsea first teamers.

Luis suarez wants to Win the Cl, not to play the group stages, which we might afford right now. Sell him (I know its hard), get the money Invest it wisely.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If winning the CL was down to squads and benches Manc Blue end should have been in with a shout atleast for QF. Its more than that, I can bet most of you here, that once we are in there we will go far. we don't need to sacrifice suarez for it though. If he wants to leave that's ok. But let's not chicken out at first glance. we were born for that trophy, we cld lift it one handed. left footed its in our teams dna, once they are in there they deliver. they always have dare I say, this seasons form, league run is reminiscent of our CL run, nothing fancy but get the job done. by hook or crook, by luck but we always make it.
And let me even say our weakest point this time next year cld be BR, not the players.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that we are not a Champions League squad yet and I have said this in previous posts but I do not agree that we are miles away.

We have one of the strongest defences in terms of depth and quality. This area does not need strengthening even if we achieve a top four finish this season.

Our strike-force in Suarez and Sturridge is one of the best in the world at the moment. Therefore, this area does not need strengthening either.

Our midfield is probably the weakest area but we are only 2 or 3 players short. I think we would be ready to storm the Champions League with a world class winger and attacking midfielder.

Achieving a top four finish would give us the ability to attract top players. Then we will be ready for the Champions League.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal have got to the CL finals twice in the last four years. Just about all of the teams that get into the quarter finals have a chance of winning it - saying that Arsenal can't win it is wrong. Maybe not favourites, but no doubt they have a chance.

29 Oct 2013 12:49:21
In 2005 Liverpool beat the best team in the last 20 years (Don't even mention Barcelona in the same breath as that AC Milan team) and we did it with the likes of Traore, Smicer and Baros in the squad. You do not need a squad of 30 world class players to win the Champions league. You need a team that works together and has the desire to succeed. Gerrard single handedly brought that to or teamand we pulled off what can only be descibed as one of the greatest cup upsets in History, and certainly the greatest comeback. The Champions league is no different to any other cup. Wigan, Swansea, Birmingham and anybody else can win it, you just need the belief, a degree of luck, and enough quality on your day to give anybody a game. Greece won the euros about 10 years ago. There is no way you are telling me thay had a better bench than Italys first XI and that's why they won the tournament? They won through team work and determination. Impossible is nothing.

YNWAdam

Agree0 Disagree0

To say english clubs are miles away is very short sighted. Haven't english clubs won it more than german clubs in the past 10 years? It's also only recently that Real have managed to overcome their Lyons bogey team. It is after all a knockout competition and the teams who win it aren't always the best (and even that is a matter of opinion, who the best is) {Ed002's Note - The rankings have three English clubs in the top seven.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Barcelona under pep where miles better than the Milan 2005 team. The early 90s team with savicevic etc there a case for, but 2005 team? No chance

Sorry everyone.
Forgot to add that quite a few of U21's look ready for a first team chance. Teixeira looks even better than Suso. looks great for the future when you bear in mind the U18's (Willson, Trickersmith (spelling). future looks great. Just need the present to do the business this year. I can't say it loud enough. YNWA!!

Teixeira (Spelling) looks ready for the first team. Seen him in a few U21 games and he looked extremely good! Another Coutinho-type midfielder with dribbling ability. So, please Mr Rodgers, put him on the bench at least and give him half a chance. it might save us millions in the long run.
Brendan know best. YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He didn't look ready for Brentfords first team.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was just coming back from injury and the physical nature of the lower leagues was against him he is quality and will prove more so in the future. seen him in the next gen against us and we should of bought the whole team. they took us apart and we had a good team. I know that won't translate to first team football but he looks really good.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2013 10:52:23
I think that Suarez has proved that he is no sulker and still fights for the team even though he wanted a move away from the club. Therefore, I think that if the club refuse to sell him in January he will still get his head down and work hard regardless.

We need to keep his partnership with Sturridge going for as long as possible and who knows, if or when we achieve a top four finish he may decide to stay at the club.

Just like to post this so people may start realising how good a player Lucas is and how vital he is to our team and formation at the moment.
This is from the LFC website so I am not pretending to have done all this research, I just want as many people to read it as possible (if you haven't seen it on the website already) because I still see people on here saying Lucas isn't good enough, and we need a defensive mid to replace him which is ridiculous.
In the game against West Brom, he touched the ball more than any other player on the pitch (87), made more passes than any other player (69), with an accuracy of 92.8%.
He made more tackles than anybody on the pitch (7), as well as 2 clearances and 3 interceptions.

All this was against a team who beat United away a few weeks ago, did the double over us last season and are set up to hit teams on the counter, something which we are vulnerable to.

He is world class and we are lucky to have him.

Just read Aggers comments about he might consider moving on if he does not get back in the first team. Sorry but every player should earn there place and its upto Agger to do that when he gets the chance he should not be sulking but try and improve his game to get back in the side. Disappointing comments from our vice captain.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

His comments were apparently taken out of contest. He has said on his twitter that he is going nowhere.

So in the next 12 days Arsenal face Chelsea, Liverpool, Dortmund and united with us being the only home match. Without flamini protecting their back 4 I can see them coming undone against all 4 teams. particularly us. {Ed002's Note - They are at home to Chelsea.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Does Arteta miss the Liverpool game?
And is Walcott still out as well? {Ed001's Note - Arteta is out for 2 games and Walcott is due back any time now, so could be fit, but probably won't start if he is anyway.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously you have not seen United play recently.

Thanks.
Be interesting to see what team Arsenal put out tonight.

To correct the eds, Arteta is out for one match for denying a goalscoring opportunity. He will return for the Liverpool game as his ban will be served against Chelsea today.

I remember reading on here last year that all premier league pitches have been standardised in terms of size. I believed this to be a fact as it was an Ed that wrote it only to find out today that it's not the case.
Mmm worrying {Ed002's Note - Sorry if you have misunderstood something Chris or perhaps I have misled you. Rule K.15 requires "Unless otherwise permitted by the Board, in League Matches the length of the pitch shall be 105 metres and its breadth 68 metres." Rule K.16 further explains for those teams that cannot comply: "The Board shall only give permission to a Club for the dimensions of its pitch to be other than as set out in Rule K.15 if it is impossible for it to comply with Rule K.15 due to the nature of the
construction of its ground."

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Metric measurements eh? no surprise, though what do they call the '18yard box' in the regs? {Ed002's Note - They call it by the correct name - the penalty area.}

Agree0 Disagree0

That clears it up beautifully Ed, if I'd remembered that you were the Ed that said it I would have known there was no doubt about the validity {Ed002's Note - The issue is that a number of clubs cannot make the size regulations.}

Agree0 Disagree0

So size is important don't tell the wife {Ed002's Note - Maybe you could buy her an electron microscope for Christmas Ray?}
