Sorry, but what? Translation needed please!

The writing on here is sometimes downright embarrassing. Its not cool to be dumb. Quit the street bulls**t and write coherent sentences.

Also, whilst I'm ranting, it doesn't take much time to find the answers to some of the questions yourself - I mean, you are actually on the internet - I'm sure the Eds are clever, but Google can also give some hints onto when the cup draw is.

Patience is a virtue. The Eds are virtuous.

Days like this, it feels good to be a Red.:-)

There's so much to feel positive about but let's not get ahead of ouselves.

Let's take it one game at a time.

We're still rebuilding, still a work in progress.

But i'm so proud of the boys.

And if anybody had doubts about whether kenny knew what he was doing in the summer, the last 48 hours juz showed that maybe we have the depth in our squad to see us through when the games really start coming thick and fast.

Just hope lucas is ok.

Anyway, great job.
Now on to fulham.

Just got back from the game. If people say Anfield support is not the same as it was, there is nothing wrong with the away support! What a great performance from the boys. Enrique is the best left back in the league, Bellamy should be a shoe-in for the first team along with Maxi, Lucas is immense and Kelly is just superb for his age. And then it brings me to Andy Carroll. I just don't know where we can go from here with him. Maybe a loan would do him good? I would still like to see Henderson through the middle though as he was almost annonymous out on the right as always.

All in all, a very good performance from the boys at the libra.....Stamford Bridge.

Ash

Ash u hit the nail on the head with that, and the fact that you've come from the match just backs up what you say. andy carroll really needs something, i think a loan to buy would be good for him and definately henderson could do better in the middle.RedTurk

Oh Right! So we actually beat Chelsea with 9 men because Carroll & Hendo offer nothing.

The Irish Rover

Pretty spot on pass from henderson for the first goal though?

A loan maybe mate. Andy i am sure will come good and i have faith in Kenny choice to buy him he sees something in him maybe we dont but more playing time should build him up to the standerd we know he has was scoring for fun at newcastle so hoping with our backing he will find his shooting boots once again. He is in the right place to get it with kenny in the chair. Another great night of football the away fans were unreal tonight well done to those who carried the red flag loz9064

Where you been hiding the past few days Irish?!

RedTurk......Wherever there is negativity towards Liverpool I always seem to see your name....If it brings you such grief try not supporting Liverpool it might bring some health benefits, such as removing that bitter taste from the back of your mouth.

Jatt YNWA

It wouldn't have mattered if we'd of won 5_0 you'd still be pissin and moaning Red Turk. It was a great through ball by Henderson in the build up to the first goal. Can you not just be happy just for oonce that we've out classed Chelsea twice and City once in the past 9 days, gaining 4 points and a cup semi final to boot. I'm sure your face won't crack if you smile or you'll spontaneously combust if you type something like it being a tremendous achievement like it is. I'm proud of what the players are doing and havee been is doing for a while under the King. I really think the belie is really kicking in now with the player'splayer's and the fan's that we are a s**t hot team ,full of confidence that can win more than one trophy this reason. Last thing Red Turk, you can't carry one passenger at this level, never mind the same boring old 2 you keep coming up with.
Jonson.

RedTurk, there's a new site for you to vent your anger towards Carroll and Hendo. It's called "menopausal male talk" and you might actually enjoy it! Knock yourself out my pedigree chum!

One thing I hope we can all agree on though is that Caraig Bellamy on a free is probably the best bit of business in the history of sport!

Couldn't watch the match all the way from New Zealand, so during maths all I did was watch the commentary. From what I read we have done awesome. Made me proud to be a Red and being able to shove it in the faces of all the Chelsea fans is even better.

That makes it 4 wins in a row against Chelsea, 3 of them away. Thats pretty immense!

all football people knew we had made good signings and if u look at it bar the spurs result weve outplayed everyone maybe not had the luck on a few occasions but wer sticking with it and the spirit of the team is showing that. i believe we r title contenders and nothing has changed my mind since the start of season all signings are coming along nicely they will succeed (especially carroll the criticism has dumfounded me) and the carling cup is a real possibility also and who knows maybe the FA cup to keep em company. guys we got to stay behind our team and support ALL our players threw ther triumphs and turbelences. Looked at chelsea supporters tonight leaving with 10mins to go only 2-0 at the time ant we all know what can happen in 10mins (7 to be fair) its just not on.
so heads high the mighty reds will rise and conquer again all who have pretended to be the ultimate kings of football.
KENNY STEVE all STAFF and TEAMS together we stand for our assault to win back what is rightfully OURS.

Congrats to the lads tonight, bellers take a bow, a fitting tribute i think. Just a quick question, the pen aside what were peoples views on Big Andy's performance?
I would like to say though that he get s bit of stick for being slow, and Bob made a good analysis of it earlier with regards his gate, but from the kick off in the second half as he closed down the keeper he didnt luck too sluggish to me. I've only seen the highlights, anyone at the game care to offer a critique?
Cheers

Andy C

An cheer up Ed002 you can concentrate on that Europa spot now bud - im joking before you fly off the handle and bar me!

I was at the game Andy C. I'm afraid he just didn't look the part again. He almost, for whatever his stats say, looks a little uninterested and gets pushed over far too easily for a lad his size. The main problem though is his touch. Don't get me wrong, there were one or 2 nice bits of play, but for the most part, he is quite frustrating to watch.

Ash

I read an article about Pepe, he was asked who was the best trainer at the club, he said Spearing. Asked who was the worse trainer at the club, he said Carroll.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Look at the balls that he got then tell me how many he lost i will say he held up far more than he lost if u wer at the game then maybe you are one of those fans that wear blinkers when it comes to carroll because he got no real service but with scraps made the best of it. i cant wait for the day that downing really puts balls down his throat alot of people will be singing a diffferent tune

But its the same old story. We are apparently creating more chances than any other side in the league and Carroll still can't score. Maybe it's time to look at Andy as the reason he is not scoring, not blame the midfield supporting him?

Ash {Ed001's Note - or perhaps blame the whiners like you that aren't supporting him?}

I do support him Ed. I was at the game singing for him even when he missed the penalty so I don't really think your qualified to pass judgement on whether I "support" someone or not. This is a forum where I would like to believe we are free to have an adult debate. Just because I have an opinion that I share on here does not define my support as a fan. Maybe it's because he doesn't work hard enough in training? Maybe it's because his style of play doesn't suit our system? Maybe it's because he just isn't good enough and we made a rash decision to sign him? It was you after all Ed who said he has the turning circle of an oil tanker and numerous other disparagin remarks about him before his arrival. Have you seen enough to change your mind?

Ash {Ed001's Note - nope, but I am giving him a chance to prove me wrong, unlike yourself who has done nothing but give him abuse.}

If you'd even cared to read the posts I have written on him, you would see that I have said, at times, that I feel sorry for the guy as he is just not the type of player who will ever suit our system. Give him abuse? I never once said he's "s**t" or "c**p," all I have ever said is that I don't believe he's good enough for LFC or that he doesn't suit our system. I don't spit vitriol at him like some do, so to tar me with the brush of someone who mindlessly slags him of is more than a little harsh.

Ash {Ed001's Note - you do nothing but slag off everything connected with the club! Sad that you are now trying to pretend to be some kind of super fan who supports the club.}

That is utter nonsense Ed. I have on numerous occasions stated that it is only Carroll, Downing and yes, although I'll admit he is impressing me, Adam who I have had issue with. What else have I said that has "slagged off" the club. Why not mention how I rate Bellamy, Enrique, Coates, Suarez, Kelly, our youth team as I have said on here? What is sad is that you cannot have a critical opinion on any players without people attacking you for it. I think you are guilty of something called "groupthink" Ed, along with a couple of others.

Ash {Ed001's Note - whatever, I have seen nothing from you but whines, never any support at all, so I will judge you on that.}

i dont think iv ever been so pleased to say.... Where will Gerrard fit in to all this in the future? :D MAYBE UP FRONT WITH SUAREZ ????????

The fact that we use to rely heavily on gerrard to score, assist and defend all at the saME time, now when he comes back he should play high up the pitch from now on, we have adam, new and improved lucas and promising spearing for cm roles. happy times.

I have posted and a lot of others have posted about the Stadium issue. I suggest reading this article and it puts forward a decent argument for a new stadium.

I think we should name the new stadium, Stamford Bridge. Our home record would certainly improve!

Imagine where we'd be,with the addition of a 20 goal a season striker?!!(maybe playmaker too

I think every team except City and Madrid think the same mate

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Man u - Rooney, Hernandez, (Berbatov was)
Chelsea-Drogba, Torres(lol)
Arsenal - Van Persie

all were or are 20 goals a season strikers

Feels great to be in with a shout of a Final again. Wonder who the draw will be for us? Would probably say Utd v Cardiff and us v City likely ha ha.

Doesn't really matter who we play as we've got a team which has a go by the looks of it now. Feel proud to be a red.

You just know cardiff will be drawn against utd. they get all the easy games in these draws. wonder if it has anything to do with fergies boss having a bit of pull in headquarters

Yep, I said the same thing to my dad before the game tonight. If we beat chelsea tonight expect us to be drawn against city.

29 Nov 2011 22:13:01
We are a fantastic team/squad at the momment. We are playing good football, solid at the back and tactics/formations, have been spot on.

Lucas is now a world class footballer, he's grown so much since Xabi and Mascherano (spit) left. But it looks like Lucas will miss at least one game, and I am very confident that young Jay, could do a job for us, no probs. Coates looks a very promising CB, a Uruguaying Sami Hyypia (fingers crossed). We've needed someone like him, since Sami left.

We look a very balanced, well organized, efficient, side at the momment. And all this without Stevie and Jamie not playing. I was worried of what would happen when Stevie and Jamie finally hang their boots up. But our season so far, has put those worrys to bed.

Fantastic performance and deserved result.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ps. Ed002, how long has AVB left before the chop? Thanks {Ed002's Note - It does not work like that Blair. Last year the Ancelotti decision was taken on December 30. But who cares it is just a game.}

Well said Blair. I agree Lucas is absolutely world class in his position and is going to be missed for however long he is out. Personally I would like to see Henderson step into his role. We have been asking him to be played in his natural position and this is his chance.

JRG

Roman will care Ed002 mate, the billionaire vulture is circling.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - Well hey Blair, let me know what happens.}

Good shout JRG mate, this could be a great chance to play Henderson, in the centre. But I think that Kenny will go with Adam and Spearing in the middle against Fulham. If this game was at home, I think Hendo could've have started, as he offers us more going forward. We've looked good in recent weeks with Lucas and Adam, in the centre. Now that Lucas is injured, I would keep this balance and play young Jay alongside Adam, especially in away games.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Yeap Roman be after half our lads again!

JRG - isn't hendo's position more behind the front men?
I wonder who Roman wants to buy of us next??

Myk

Why would you want AVB to get the sack. He is doing a great job at cfc.

We could always sell Chelsea Aqualani for £20 million & get our money back!

I've got no problem if Jay Spearing is picked for Fulham. He's never let us down. Special thanks to Bellamy tonight. Good stuff lads.

Hi eds not a rumour but I am considering buying tickets for the boxing day match but I find the LFC website unhelpful (is this because it is too early) and don't understand how this works. {Ed002's Note - I can't help you but I guess there are folks who can.}

The way I remember it - you need to be part of the fan club (£50 a year?) and you may be in with a shout, if not then wait until they go on general sale but with it being boxing day, good luck!

thanks Mr Benitez for signing Lucas?

Gazman

Thanks for Lucas, Rafa...
Here's Voronin in return.. ;0)

Myk

Er, voronin was for free?! When Benitez was actually given the money to buy his 1st choice targets he bought quality (Alonso, Masch, Reina, Torres etc). When he was forced to sell before buying and was given limited funds he had to take a punt with variable results (Pennant, Babel, Crouch etc). Remember he had the likes of Villa, Silva lined up... Anyways, all in the past.. completely happy with what Dalglish is doing, amazing job!

It was a light hearted joke pal.. I know what Rafa brought in for us and will be forever greatful..

Lucas tried to tackle Mata and kind of jared his knee. Hopefully it is a knock and not serious. The lad is immense. Lee YNWA

It was Lucas fouling, bad luck, didn't look nice for the lad, get well soon Lucas! TheRedEye

Knee clashed with Mata, medial knee ligament IMO out for 6 weeks mins. Not what we need when the fixtures are coming thick and fast.

It was Lucas doing the challenging and it was a bit badly timed. In fact, he was lucky not to have been booked. Just hope it's only a knock and not a ligament. RED LENIN

He didn't get tackled, it was a collision, more Lucas colliding with the Chelsea player in fact. Just one of them really disappointing moments where the knee just 'went'. Fingers crossed!

DP

He was the one that made the tackle in which he got injured kind of hurt his knee by hitting Mata

He got injured because he fouled Mata, jayblair mate. Looks like he could've twisted somthing in his knee.

Fingers crossed, it's not his ligaments.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Wasn't really a bad tackle. Just got caught, no malicious intent I don't think. He stood up on it for a minute before signalling that he had to be stretchered off. I'm just hoping it's a quick recovery.

Goodness me. I really didnt expect us to be that good tonight! Lol. I seriously expected us to get beat by 2 or 3 tonight. But henderson, maxi and bellamy did very well when it mattered. Kelly and coates were fantastic,of course it helped having carra back there as well. And LUCAS LEIVA. Wow! At the moment he looks like some kind of xabi/masch fusion! Amazing game again and really hope you get well soon bud! All in all great performance. As for andy,he looked poor again and when he stepped up for the pen i 100% knew he was gonna miss, just a gut feeling. But carrol has the balls to do a lucas and im sure he will. Any chance of playing maxi as a striker? because he is probably our most clinical finisher (I know some were tap-ins) and he always seems to be a really good position which makes him a good poacher.

I was thinking the same thing, I'm sure someone may correct me but I'm sure his goals this season have been no more than 1 or 2 touches. He does seem to be in the right place at the right time.
It's all wishful thinking though because it will never happen.

To be fair, 2 seasons ago we would have put our 2nd(ish) team out and not be able to compete like that... we've made some very positive moves forward based on that performance tonight!

On top of that, 11 games unbeaten and of those 11 games we've played Utd, City, Chelsea x2, Everton & Brighton! :-)

Eds, anyone, I'm not saying we should or will sell Carrol. But i am wondering what type of appetite other clubs may have for him in the upcoming window? Do you know of any interest? Were the Anzhi claims ever real? I know he was gutted leaving Newcastle, he may thrive in the big fish/small pond environment better. {Ed002's Note - I will take a flyer and say he won't leave for Anzhi. Carroll is a big guy and will cause problems for pretty much any central defence. If he doesn't pick up the goals, maybe those playing off him (such as Suarez) will.}

He gets isolated up front a lot when he does get some minutes which is not his fault . as the ed says we need suarez or bellamy or someone playing around him because even if he does win the 1st header at the moment he has no one to direct it to

29 Nov 2011 21:50:17

What happened to Lucas

Just watched it online and the comentator seemed to hazard a guess at ligament damage but to be honest it just looked like a bit of a bad knock more than anything too serious, it just looked as if his and matas knees knocked together and lucas came of second best so hope hes ok for fulham cos with lucas on the pitch i feel we can win any game.
on another note , after playing 48 hours after our last game against citi, to come to chelsea and play like we did espescially in the second half it just shows that now we have a strong squad who will challenge for some silverware.

tommy c

Lucas had a gash to the knee after knocking it against matas knee, went off for treatment, came back on but later went off on a stretcher

well done kenny and well done liverpool. coates looked really good, shame about andy carroll though. RedTurk

Redturk your the worst supporter ever.
Total bellwhiff.

MIKEY

Yeah, it's amazing how we can do so well in all these big games with really only ten players! Henderson on Sunday & Carroll tonight! Isn't that right Red Burke?

The Irish Rover

RedTurk, your tone is certainly different from the one which you had earlier? It's amazing what a win can do to fans like you...Instead of a tirade of abuse at Carroll, you simply go with "it's a shame" well done.

Hang on ladies and gents, i know who redturk is! Judging by his changes of mind and mood swings i've come to the conclusion its my mrs. All the best.

KNEE JERK

Lol luv the jokes guys, in the end we all support the same team. if carroll had proved to us he has some quality then i wouldn't have to moan about him, i only want the best for our team and that is quality players. No matter how much you try to offend me, i will always speak what i see on the pitch, even if some of you like to cover up cracks. RedTurk

Sounds like a KNEE JERK reaction to me KNEE JERK. why dont you accept this is a banter page and i have a right to analyse players and pick out which ones are not putting enough into the team.RedTurk

I dont wana slate andy carroll but unfortunately he doesnt suit our team even if he can be good he will never be world class, you need a good touch and technique, even peter crouch had that. we do need a striker in january, but that is just to take the pressure off of suarez as carroll hasn't done much yet.RedTurk {Ed001's Note - instead of just saying 'I don't wanna slate', why don't you actually stop slating him? It is easy to do, well for most of us who don't spend out entire time whining about everyone connected to Liverpool. You spent all summer telling us how Adam was not going to join and how he was not good enough for us. Clearly your judgement is suspect, so why not just stop whining and support a man who has a decent judgement of a player's ability? You are a Liverpool supporter right? So why not try supporting for a bit, then, if he does fail you can say I told you so. Because right now, if he does fail, you are part of the reason for it.}

Absolutly right the repliers ,soon as carroll had missed the penalty he was slating carroll .

29 Nov 2011 21:45:36
coates brilliant centre back
kelly and lucas also outstanding as was bellamy and in fact the whole team brilliant performance made up!

Fellow kopites what do you think making stamford bridge our new ground coz one thing is sure going to win more games then loose

29 Nov 2011 21:45:36
Take no pleasure from seeing torres so hapless. He left the club where he belonged, and i think he knows it. Well played boys, great games from Hendo, bellers, particularly Coates.

Muzmacol YNWA

Torres is a jinx

29 Nov 2011 21:45:36
Lump in my throat when liverpool fans started chanting for Gary Speed. very proud. Im irish and the people of liverpool are as much the reason i follow this club as shankly, dalglish , european cups, barnes..etc etc etc

Fantastic performance from the young guns! Top marks to Bellamy, my motm and Lucas, who was immense. Special mention to Enrique and Coates - didn't put a foot wrong! el sulk didn't even get a sniff! Bring on the mancs!

Such a shame about Lucas. Great team performance Lucas, Kelly, Coates and Bellamy all awesome tonight. In Coates we have one hell of a centre back.

Lucas get well soon, you are fast becoming the best holding midfield player in the world.

Also thought Hendo did well tonight - will need to step up if Lucas seriously injured but think he can do it

After Lucas, we weren't good enough. He has been superb again. hope, it is not something serious. We need him. YNWA

Agreed, i hope everyone can now see why coates was acquired. {Ed002's Note - It was on the recommendation of his father Ralph.}

29 Nov 2011 21:36:31
Serious question - anybody, Eds - why did Torres leave?

Starts with M and rhymes with honey!

LIVERPRES

He went to a 'bigger' club, lol

I really think we have a good team vibe and a strong young squad. He's not missed. I think he left for money and success.

He's getting the money.

He wanted to win things...like the prem which they aren't going to win, the league cup they are now out of, they could very well be knocked out of the champions league , I reckon he wants an f.a. cup

Thats what he thought!Said as much at time, lol

Not just a bigger club, a bigger club with a brighter future. He did belong with us though... I think Roman will have a clear out in January, I'd take him back for £5m haha

Myk

He thought Liverpool weren't going anywhere under the previous ownership (H&G and the politics behind the scene , Liverpool's extremely poor form at the start of last season [He probably never had fully recovered from a serious bout of hodgsonitis after Kenny took over], etc). Chelsea were the only team who were round about the top of the league who bid for him in January so he thought he had a better chance winning silverware with them instead and made the decision to leave. I'll say though, there were telltale signs that things were on the up at the last transfer window with new owners who were willing to pump money into the team, and a stronger belief overall around the Club that we were back on track. torres, however, just didn't want to wait around hence legendary status to mercenary status. He showed his true colours mate. I wonder how his career change is working out for him? Don't be surprised to see him plying his trade back in Spain next season the way things are going for him.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Who cares?

it's history now

I think it's obvious the original poster cares mate. Just because you couldn't give a toss, don't disrespect other posters. Your response was childish and a waste of time. We just beat Chelsea - it's history - can we not talk about that either?

LIVERPRES

great respect to the liverpool fans at the match. singing one gary speed

29 Nov 2011 21:22:45
Eds,

With Lucas now looking doubtful for quite a while (depending on the extent of his knee injury), would Sissoko or Martinez be viable options for defensive midfielders in Jan?

Matty08 {Ed002's Note - Comolli is on the phone already.}

inhis young age of Lucas people didnt like him. but i remmember he said once I watch how gerrard work for his fitness in the gym and flow it. now that pay back to Lucas. Carroll should work hard too.

29 Nov 2011 21:01:11
Carroll trashers are out again. For sure he shouldn't have taken the penalty. Kenny took a gamble that didn' t pay off. However, game still tied. Lets keep focused.

I understand Carrol got the penalty to give him a confidence boost. But now how does this affects his confidence? Not good. Should have given it to coates if we want to boost a young players confidence that may actually have a future at the club.

Kenny knows his players for me you have no idea. go cr.p on other team pages your not wanted and just a waste of space.

Lads a Red,entitled to his view.Unbelievable

It was no worse than the one suarez missed and no one was shouting for HIS head, jimmybosun

Thats becos suarez puts in 110% every single time he comes on the pitch.RedTurk

We are in with a chance of top4 coz of suarez. Without him, finishin above everton wud have been an achievement. he is done so much for us, one missed penalty is not gonna call for criticism. As for carrol....

I know its easy to be wise after the event.. but I just knew Carroll was gonna miss his penalty.
Nothing seems to be going right for the big man so far. Hopefully he can make up for it in the second half.

29 Nov 2011 20:45:20
So according to most of the last few posts carrolls not worth any money due to the fact he missed a penalty hasn't saurez missed a penalty this year and dirk why doesn't every one get off the lads back hes playing ok considering theres no width and were not playing to his strengths half of you would take torres back and carrolls playing a damm sight better than him try support him instead of getting on the lads back

29 Nov 2011 20:44:25
Realistically what is Lucas Leiva's transfer value right now? I would have to say £20m. But we wouldn't sell for less than £30m.

He is so amazing it most be more

Dont sale him he is form of his life. dont want to see like alonso story again.

29 Nov 2011 20:44:19
All people do on this website is pick faults on players during the game how about getting behind the players for a change maybe they will get better if we support them. Nil nil at half time is not a bad score at stamford bridge. The pen as gone nothing we can do about it now. Come on reds we can do this.

Mighty reds

29 Nov 2011 20:42:40
What is it with penalty's this season because its not just Carroll: Suarez blasted it over vs Sunderland; kuyt vs everton (i think) apart from the penalty i've not seen Carroll due much wrong and I will be surprised if Chelsea end this with ten men. Also Coates doing well so far from what i've seen -McMenemy

Yeap pressurise backline,3 booked!

29 Nov 2011 20:39:51
Unlucky Carroll lad, the challenge on Henderson was disgusting, but can't complain about the ref - Phil Dowd is one of the good uns. C'mon lads, this is ours for the taking, especially with Suarez itching to get on. Lee YNWA

29 Nov 2011 20:13:48
Carroll!! What a s**t. Why was he given a penalty. I saw him taking it and was afraid that he'd miss it. It should have been given to bellamy. Carroll, what have u done, mate. Absolutely gutted.

Hope doesnt cost us

29 Nov 2011 20:13:42
i have lost respect for some of these eds, i post comments and i dont know how many you have not posted, what the matter you dont like me having my own opinion. andy carroll is worthless.RedTurk

Here you go * places rattle back in pram and dumpy back mouth* All the best.

KNEE JERK

No RedTurk you are a worthless Liverpool 'supporter'. I have no respect for you or your opinion. At least Carroll had the balls to get up and take it. Can you blame him for having no confidence when muppets like you are posting this garbage.

And if you want to bring his price rage into it he has done a lot more than the £50m striker playing for Chelsea so far.

JRG

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but if you're just gonna continually shame our own player, surely there'd be no need for your posts to be posted for any longer? Yes, it was a poor penalty, but if he were to score you'd be singing his praises and obviously, it'd of boosted his confidence. What will be, will be but support our players.

Alex

Maybe you should actually read the other posts, there is one from you about Carroll at 20:05. well done...
mdp

Did you say the same about Suarez when he missed a penalty against Sunderland?

JRG

Red Turk, Carroll penalty miss will have you creaming in your speedo's for weeks if not months. Good luck to whoever does your washing for you lad.

29 Nov 2011 20:12:29
£35m penalty is priceless :) what kenny saw in him to pay £35m ?

Awful, only word can describe that. So far its an absolute waste. I want to support him, but somehow it's the hardest thing for me to do. He just makes a mess of it most of the time. C'mon andy, u'll have to repay. C'mon. Don't embarrass us. YNWA

Why is he evening taking the penalty i would give it to reina before him

Im same as 2nd poster.I wana support Andy. But he aint helping his cause

Hendo work hard to be a team player. and its show in the field. Carroll not that sign yet.

Its pretty obvious carrol wont make the grade at liverpool. We need to give suarez a better strike partner. The club has already spent lots of money n time in gettin carrol into shape, but he just doesnt cut it.
Indian Buzzer {Ed001's Note - this is a pathetic post. I am embarrassed by posts like this. He hasn't even been at the club a year and you already think you can judge his entire future.}

Im just being realistic ed. Plus im entitled to my opinion. I maybe a bit harsh on carrol but we simply cant afford to give a no.9 around 10 months to find his form n fitness.
Indian Buzzer {Ed001's Note - you are not being realistic at all. If it takes 10 months for him to find his form and fitness, then it takes ten months and we should back him.}

Reina

Carra - Agger - Skrtel - Enrique

Henderson - Lucas - Adam - Downing

Bellamy - Carroll

Subs not confirmed as yet. Can't believe that Kelly isn't starting, can't believe it at all.

Torres is starting for Chelsea upfront, Lukaku on the left and Kalou on the right. The main threat should be coming from the middle I assume.

My team for tonight?

------------- Reina-------------
Kelly----Carra----Coates-----Aurelio
----Hendo----Lucas----Spearing----
Bellamy--------------------------Maxi
----------------Carroll------------------

I bet you I'm close as always! I'll take any sort of win tonight. A scrappy 1-0 with the penalty in the last minute would do.

I think Chelsea will play a few of the fringe players tonight like Torres etc.

I wouldnt mind seein a torres goal as long as we score more of course

I wouldnt mind seein a torres goal as long as we score more of course

U wana see torres score against us? ur obviously missing something in the peanut of yours.RedTurk

Downing is the new Hodgson.. I can't stand him.. Lazy, Clueless, gutless and loves to talk himself up in interviews. If he plays we ALWAYS play gash..

I Trust Kenny but if we played Maxi instead on sunday we would have won. In fact we'd be 2nd by a long shot if Kenny hadn't of stubbornly stuck with Downing all season. You need a team to compliment one another, intelligent pass and move footballers like Bellamy, Maxi, Kuyt and Suarez, these guys have some kind of telepathy together, why didn't we stick with the same style that we used against chelsea?

And Im sick of people saying (pundits fans, Kenny..) how far we have come for "nearly" beating Man City. They should be talking about how far Man City have come for managing to scrape a point at Anfield after getting beat 3-0 last season.

Anyway rant over.. Not happy, I'm sick of us under achieving. We were on to the something last season..Playing 433.. Spearing being given a run in the team(was so impressed with that him) It feels like we are trying to take 2 steps backwards to go one step forwards..

Is anyone with me on that?

Get a grip mate.

Downing is gonna be our worst buy (for his price) ever if he doesnt step up his game..... yes, worse than carroll, he's young and needs to be getting the playing time downing gets. will only get better however downing is in his peak and he is playin sh@#, he must realise this and Fu#@&#g play better!

I'm not

Have people forgotten about the absolute pasting man city gave us at there place last season that is why we are saying how far we've come. Or am i the only 1 who remembers that.
Carlos1979

Downing isnt playing very well but he works hard for the team and helps enrique a lot, henderson is our problem just now, bob paisleys skids

Yes I believe all the players you mention are mediums and telepathically communicate with each other?

Dear oh dear. What is going on? Erm......... Yonks out!

Scott78.

Don't understand how were takin one step forward to two back. Were so much better then last season or this time last season. Can't work that comment out. Yes Downing hasn't set the world alight since he started the season so brightly but I think that's down to confidence pure and simple. I read somewhere that since 2004 only Gerrard,Lampard,Fabregas and Giggs are the only players to have made more chances in the Prem then Downing so he's obviously been doing something right.

Twoddle... Downing has my full support. Aslong as he gives 100% in to getting back to form and applies himself to kennys master plan then I won't bad mouth him.
He's an honest player who isn't here for the ride.
You're a tool pal..!

Myk

Downing does not help enrique.. he always gets in his way.. Enrique doesn't need any help down the left, he totally over shadows Downing for speed and effort.

Statistics don't lie. Downing has been a great Premiership player, but he doesn't fit in with the pass and move style that saw us score goals for fun in the 2nd half of last season.. Now we average just over a goal a game.

Since Kenny came in, we tallied up the 2nd most points in the league( if the season started in January) So in that respect we have gone from being the 2nd best team in the League to something else, that is why I see it as taking 2 steps backwards and 1 step forwards..

Must of got board of slating Andy! So it's purely down Downing we are not second?... WTF mate, im not with you.....The question is are you with you? Because i know im not with you. And its fair to say you wont be with me, are you with me?

P.S Ed you any good websites to watch the ga.........*dodges flying brick*. All the best.

Hi All

Could anybody tell me if the game tonight is available to watch online and if so which site please? {Ed002's Note - Please read the posts.}

THIS IS VERY GOOD INFO FROM A TOP POSTER..USE IT (TheRedEye)

Okay Comrades! It's match day and here's how to watch it live for those of you unable to get to the game.

1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every EPL match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.

I've not posted on here for a while due to work commitments etc.
Firstly....R.I.P. Gary Speed and Brad Jones' son.
Speedy was the consumate professional and one of a kind.
Brad Jones is going through the sort of torment every parent dreads and I hope he can eventually pick up his career....all the best mate.
On the footballing-side Lucas Leiva is beginning to look like a player (can't remember how many times I've slagged him off in the past) and the Agger/Skirtel combo looks tasty (leaving Carra out is something I've been championing for 2 years !)....would like to see Coates start tonight with Carragher and Wisdom/Skirtel in a 3-5-2 with Doni in goal, Coady, Adam, Johnson, Henderson and Lucas (AM) in midfield and Carroll and Bellamy up front. A bench of Reina,Kelly,Skirtel/Wisdom, Spearing, Downing, Sterling and Suarez would do the job!
.............................DONI...............................
............WISDOM....CARRAGHER...COATES.........
............................COADY..............................
JOHNSON................ADAM............DOWNING..............................LUCAS LEIVA.......................
....................CARROLL.........BELLAMY.............
SUBS; REINA, KELLY,SKIRTEL,SPEARING,DOWNING,STERLING,SUAREZ.
The above team would rest key players and give us a chance of progressing.

To all those who knock Andy Carroll. If Chelski offered us Fernando Torres in exchange for Carroll and a £15m payment would you take it?

Torres was a great player but his best years are behind him. AC will find his feet and come good

Torres any day

When will people understand that the money is irrelevant.. It was upped by Newcastle because they knew it was at the death of deadline day and we had just made £50m...

Ok the burning question that is on everyones lips. Who was better, Eric Meijer or Sean Dundee? I am leaning towards Meijer due to Sean Dundees quite ridiculous statement about being quiker than Michael Owen prior to signing.

Surely any doom and gloom people may still harbour this season must be lifted when we recall these two great ambassadors of our club!

Cheers
Greggers

Mate that's what makes Sean Dundee so good the statement "I'm quicker than Michael Owen" never fails to make me smile

He is correct, 70% of the time when owen is injured...

I know there is a lot of rumors about Liverpool FC signing David Villa in January or summer. I really want to put an end to this rumor, because I do not think it is a viable option for the club. These are the following reason I do not believe we will be making a move for David Villa:

1. David Villa's age is 30 years old. Meaning next summer when he finally dawns the red shirt he will be 31. The specific policy for FSG is to sign players who can be long term options for the club. By signing David Villa we are signing a player for four years.

2. Value, Barcelona is going to value Villa at approximately 30-40 million. Barcelona need a large cash injection after signing Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabergas. Barcelona is trying to make room for Pedro to make a big move forward and have him partner up with Lionel Messi.

4. Premier League experience, we will be risking a lot of money for a player who is late in his career and unsure about how he will adapt to the EPL. If Villa does not pan out for Liverpool and the EPL, it will probably be hard to offload him. We might suffer the whole Robbie Keane scenario again.

3. Better options there are four players who I believe Liverpool could sign for a similar transfer sum.

Alexandre Pato: Is a great striker and might be someone that AC Milan be willing to part with if they sign Carlos Tevez. Pato is value at approximately 40 million and we could use Alberto Aquilani as weight in the transfer. Also Pato is 22 years old and does fall within all of FSG transfer policy.

Edinson Cavani: Again this is great striker for Napoli and is playing alongside Luis Suarez in the Uruguay National Team. Cavani is the same age as Suarez and the two already have a great relationship. Grant it Napoli just signed him two years ago, they might be willing to part with him if they can make a large profit. I believe Napoli signed him for only 11 million euros. Cavani has scored more goals than Villa did last season, when Villa had a "great" season.

There is a lot more competition for his signature too, since I believe Paris St. Germain have been looking at him.

Gonzalo Higuain: Higuain has score 85 goals for Real Madrid in 144 appearances. However, he has fallen down the pecking order behind Benzema has not been able to get regular playing time. With the World Cup only being two years away, he might be looking to move for more regular play. Also with rumors Neymar might be coming to Real Madrid it will definitely push him to make a move soon. Real Madrid are also probably looking for money to fund that move.

Ezquiel Lavezzi: I think Lavezzi would be a great signing because he is versatile like Suarez. Lavezzi can play out in the wing and play up front. Since the arrival of Cavani he has been limited to only 10 appearances this season and is in search of regular play. Lavezzi can definitely be our answer on the right wing too, but could primarily be a striker. I think if we sign him in January he will provide a better assessment of whether we need to invest in a RW in the summer.

Out of all four strikers Lavezzi will be the cheapest option too. I know we were interested in Levezzi prior to signing Suarez, but I still think he could be a viable option to be the third striker we need.

Why have you numbered them 1,2,4,3 ? Is that the new formation?

Strikers rely a lot on speed of thought and movement, and Villa is already passing his best years in this respect.
Its impossible to contemplate LFC paying serious money for a 30 year old player- it's absolute nonsense.
The only way this sort of deal would make any sense would be a season loan, with us paying most of his enormous wages- in which time he will still be a bloody good striker, and might just give us the scoring edge to push into a CL spot.
It may be that KK and DC are thinking about such short term 'fixes' for a season or two, whilst younger talented strikers are brought into the first team and developed. But no, it just has to be a nonsense rumour- even if Villa wanted out of Barca because of personal issues, he's shown no interest in leaving Spain.

'dawns'?

Really hoping for a decent result tonight, 10 games unbeaten, against a fragile chelsea defence without Terry, hoping Carroll has a field day. Yes he hasnt really had a good run of late but fortunes have been against him, if the perfectly good goal against sunderland had been allowed and the shots against swansea and man city had gone in we would be looking at a nice return, i think he just needs a bit of confidence to go up a gear, i remeber reading a fact that prior to the chelsea game all our wins consisted of a suarez and carroll partnership, a little food for thought. looking forward to henderson really kicking on soon, he seems to be getting more settled and will prove to be an astute signing, look no further than our own lucas, who imo has just turned from a good to exceptional/borderline world class midfielder, if he adds goals to his game we could be looking at a top noch box to box midfielder, not that he already isnt.

Summer signings are starting to take shape, enrique requires no introduction, a solid astute signing and an absolute steal at 6mil, and with the recent reinvigoration of glenny J we have two class attacking fullbacks, a modern day neccesity and comodity in this day and age. Adam is building a solid partnership with lucas, and his fitness levels have improved vastly, (jrg i think with those excellent statistic) really reinforce what ed001 was saying in the summer with a top class fitness coach improving his game, something he didnt have the luxury of at blackpool. when gerrard comes back i believe he will slot into the rm berth, like with rafa, where he enjoyed his best scoring season to date, tucking in when required to almost make a 433 with downing or bellers pushing on to make a front 3 be it with carroll or suarez or indeed both.

special mention to agger, he allows us to push up in the midfield with his excellent continental style of defending, with this in turn allowing us to see the best of lucas and adam, its no coincidence that the cm's are palying excellently with skrtal and agger as cb's, no disrespect to carra, he is an absolute diamond as both a player and man, a man who in 2005 on the CL run showed the world how class he can be, but i feel we could be seeing the start of the phasing out period, he is stilll an invaluable squad player and his experience for the likes of kelly and coates will only be beneficial to us in the bright future we are currently building. Its the depth of our squad i am enjoying, the sight of a bench with game winners a refreshing alternative and a glaringly obvious improvement of what we had in hodgsons era, the improvment since last season is nothing short of miraculous, with Cl hopefully this season the future will have been turned on its head and we can really start believing and push on to the top of where we belong, champions. The one player i would really love is Martinez, every time i watch this player he oozes class, probably the best midfielder outside of the barcelona trivalent and a player who would improve any midfield.

One last mention on the stadium, as impatient as we are all getting, its not the sort of decision to be rushed, if it was a case of a new build i believe we would have seen progress already, but FSG are reviewing all options, here we have owners who renovated a wonderful illustrious stadium in boston, despite the red tape surronding it, i know its easier to do in America, but after they turned it into one of the best most lucrative arenas on america i can safely say that we have the best owners if we are looking towards renovating Anfield, and whichever way we plan on going, i will fully support and be glad of the progress, both on the pitch, off it ,comercially and the regaining of our roots, we are LFC afterall and for the 1st time in a few years i feel we have our identity back, a quick word on Bob the Red, your posts are fantastic, keep them up, and to all others, this is what being a liverpool fan is all about, supporting and sharing our ideas for the future, i know its long but thanks for reading :)

hello fellow red men,

Just been thinkin if kenny want to win a cup this season will he risk the big players in the team or will he put out the fringe players i for one love the carling cup always have. Many people see it as a small cup but no matter how small its still extra money in the bank plus something to cheer about in the final or picking up the cup...... my team tonight

Reina

Kelly Agger Skrtel Enrique

lucas spearing

Adam
Hendo Downing
Carroll

There's no question we're taking the tournament seriously, as shown by our teams against Brighton and Exeter, but there are worries about the wisdom of playing 2 games in 3 days. I don't want to see long-term injuries caused by over-exertion tonight. My team would be:

Reina
Kelly-Carragher-Coates-Robinson
Maxi-Henderson-Spearing-Aurelio
Bellamy-Carroll

Subs: Doni, Wisdom, Flanagan, Lucas, Henderson, Kuyt, Suarez

Red Ollie

Not enough of your selection have played together. That is a completely new back 4. What understanding have they got/
We could play one different player in defence, midfield and up front.

29 Nov 2011 14:27:46
Got to have a go 2nite, we need that movement in the final 3rd that we had in the first half against chelsea that caused them allsorts of problems, although i understand carroll is going to start but if we add maxi, dirk and bellamy to that we can cause them problems i believe. Id give luis a break and bring him on if we need somethin extra in the 2nd half. Possible X1

Reina

Kelly Carragher Coates Enrique

Kuyt Spearing Lucas Bellamy

Maxi

Carroll

Im happy with the 4 points we have managed to get against Chelsea & City. However we always seem to drop points against the lesser teams, especially the newly promoted teams. We will not finish top 4 this season if we dont start beating the teams below us, Fulham the weekend would be a great result if we get the three points and i think that can spur us on and build a good run of points. We have played all the top teams so far this season and all the way up until January there are games we should be winning. We have city away in Jan i'd settle for a draw there. What will make or break our season is in the month of Feb/March...4 difficult games one after the other - Spurs, United, Everton & Arsenal. Looking forward to it :)

Good thing is fulham got an away game against leaders on thurs in europa league so fatigue might play a part

Beware what you wish for in a new stadium. I recently attended an American Football Game in New York. My friend and host was a season ticket holder of 8 tockets in the old Giants Stadium which held 76,000 spectators. The new, renamed "Met Life" stadium holds 90,000 and was erected about two years ago on the same site. The fans there feel that it will take years to reproduce the atmosphere that previously existed which I suppose is obvious.

There are some points to bear in mind. At the old stadium there were two seating levels for pricing, now there are four. My friend had 8 tickets covering the 8 home fixtures and was guaranteed these seats for every game. In the new stadium he was offered alternative seats but would have to pay $20,000 each for the right to the seat and then buy the game tickets for every game. In addition he would be allocated 64 seats per season but not necessarily 8 for every game. At some higher rated games he would only get 3 or 4 seats while there would be more allocation at less highly rated games.
He now has seats in a different part of the ground and there is a corporate facility he can use. The ground is great and has wonderful views.

We did the American thing with a tailgate "party" before the game. The reason? Once in the corporate facility we bought 1 pint of Guiness, 2 pints of Stella and a large water - cost - $40.00! Yes Forty dollars, that's about £25.00. There was food too but very expensive. Yes I know the prices can all be scaled against each other but a large investment will have to be paid for somehow. The bar was not a franchise so at least any profit went back into the club.

There is no doubt that a new ground facility for LFC is required and I could not decide which option would be best but there could be some issues once the choice is made. I think we have good owners who will do the best for the club but I do think there will be some heartache once the stadium is erected, not everyone will be happy!

Very interesting post mate, thanks for that.
The Real KB

Great post.
Actually according to the stats, the difference in capacity between the two is only 2.5k (80k vs 82.5k).
Old stadium was 30 years old.
New stadium most expensive ever $1.6 billion, various financiers involved, its a ground share option between Giants and Jets. The Washington Redskins scaled back their capacity by 10k recently, to offer spectators a better experience.
One has to ask, if a city like NY and its surrounding boroughs decides on a 82.5k capacity stadium, with a shared stadium, and a population in the area of in excess of 10million people, what does that say!.
I think the days of super capacity stadiums at astronomical cost may be a thing of the past.
Consider that the new Juve stadium is only 42k.
So what is a realistic stadium size for LFC, without crippling the club with massive repayment costs for many years.
Personally I believe that to be 60-65k.
Food for thought. {Ed001's Note - totally different, American football is not a worldwide support, it doesn't attract huge numbers of tourists from around the world flying to NY, for instance, specifically to take in a game. Anfield, on the other hand, attracts plenty of those, there is also a massive number of people who would go more if the prices were lower. The size of the stadium is not the issue, it will come down to the price of the tickets, if they are priced correctly, 100k would easily be filled.}

Thanks for the replies. Yes I was aware that it is a shared stadium so it is used about 16 times in the regular season. There are pre-season games. The Giants and the Jets don't play each other very often as they are in different conferences.
On a more positive note we would play 19 home games plus cup matches so the cost of the stadium could be spread out over more games. There are also fewer away fans but at the game I was at, there were some away fans who had bought tickets on line from home fans who couldn't attend. Not an issue in New York but they were saying that Philadelphia Eagles fans are very hostile towards fans from other teams. Very unusual in the US.

I expect that some current season ticket holders will not get the deals they hope for and there will be more available for corporate and fans who can only attend occasionally but will be at a premium price. It will be very difficult to please everybody but it has to be seen as a positive step.
I can't believe they will go for a huge stadium probably lacking in atmosphere initially (no disrespect to regular fans meant, you were brilliant on Sunday) and detracting from the event. Better to build attendance gradually and maintain atmosphere as success returns on the pitch. This must be a consideration.

Interesting BUT.....
that has no bearing on LFC , what goes on in USA could happen here in 10 years or so, but to build a new stadium and go nuts on the prices is a different matter they havent bought the club with there eyes closed they know what will and wont work, by the way iv been to america 4 times and i didnt go online and tell everyone bob paisleys skids

Hi Ed01.
Point taken.
Let me clarify further.
To spend excessively on a new stadium, when there is increased economic turmoil around (euro crisis) would be crazy.
Juventus opted for a smaller stadium, with significant investment in retail and shopping to provide additional revenue streams (its a lovely stadium, saw it being developed a year or so ago).
If LFC were to spend £400 or even £500 million on a new stadium, with interest its closer to £700 or £800 million to be paid back over 15 or 20 years, that's a considerable amount. Now even with additional capacity, there is no way ticket prices will go down.
Thus from a viability and feasability point of view (and under the current economic situation) it seems most logical that Anfield will be developed to 60 or 65k (maybe more).
We also need to bear in mind, that last year under H&G, the club was in dire financial straits (close to going into administration, if some reports are to be believed), and that debt was on the clubs books!. Banks are nasty, they don't easily forget, credit ratings are impacted etc. So it might very well be difficult to borrow massive amounts to build new, and I am not sure FSG have hundreds of millions to finance it all themselves.
Of course if naming rights are sold that does assist, but that is still to be confirmed.
Just a few thoughts.
Regards, Food for thought.

Hi there, I enjoyed the original post and respnse, sorry not sure who posted it originally.
The NFL is a different economic model, but one can marvel at how the various NFL franchises utilise their resources and stadiums (concerts, events,tv rights, naming.rights) all contribute significantly to revenue generation. There is a lot to be learnt from how these clubs do business, and leverage the various business opportunities
Food for thought..

Thanks for the options ED002 but can I throw something else in to consider?
If we go along the phased development of Anfield we could see major building on-site for a few years and we could lose thousands of seats and massive income during that process. If it's possible, what do fans think about hiring Goodison Park for a year or so to let the rebuilding progress much faster? We may lose far less seats per game if you look at present capacities of 45,000 @ Anfield compared to 40,000 @ Goodison.
Only a thought.
Midsred
{Ed001's Note - how do you lose thousands of seats and massive income? You do one stand at a time, almost all the work is done during the close season on each stand. You do a phased re-opening, so very few seats are lost out on, with capacity gradually increasing, by the middle of the season you actually have an increased capacity for the rest of it. So you actually end up gaining over the course of the season. Then repeat on the next side of the ground at the end of the season following the last home game.

Like united did at Old Trafford with the corners. They did each corner at a time

Adzii

How about if we could use Old Trafford on a rotational week-by-week basis ed, while re-development was carried out !?
Lol. The boys would no doubt re-decorate their bogs and that *ahem*.
Not that I'm condoning that behaviour you understand.
The Real KB

Redeveloping the ground a stand at a time is clearly the way forward but each stand still requires a huge amount of work which the ed must be underestimating if he thinks most of the work can be done in the close season. As optemistic as the eds idea is unfortunately it is completely unrealistic. Having talked to people in the construction trade who have experiance in this area i believe at least a full season to complete work on each stand including work in the close seasons will be needed possibly more as there are often unforseen problems involved with the old infrastructure.there will certainly be lost revenue as the construction process will mean loss of ticket revenue until work is complete however once the first stand is extended the extra seating should balance out the loses on the next section of work it will however take at least 3 to 4 yrs to complete the stadium
TED {Ed001's Note - funny how every other club doing it has managed to do it that way.}

One team expanding their stadium ATM are Wolves. They're spending £16m to increase their capacity from 29k to 31k, by knocking down 1 stand and rebuilding it. Work started at the end of last season, and expect it to be finished for the start of 2012/13 season. I'm not sure about the level of redevelopment that will be done at Anfield, but based on the Molineux example it probably will take more than the time allowed in the close season to do extensive work, even on one stand.

RedSG

Are you sure? knocking a stand down to gain 2 thousand seats?, bob paisleys skids

Get chinese to renovate. The speed they built cricket grounds in the caribbean for the world cup was amazing.haha {Ed002's Note - Ah the chinese. Small but tasty.}

Anybody else think Glen Johnson is starting to look his best again?
He also looks a lot better defending than he ever did.
I thought he would be losing his place to Kelly but he looks undropable right now.
I always called for him to be played as a midfielder but he has made the right back position his own recently.

All this after Johnson has just come back for a couple of Games after injury?

Opinion sways mighty easily and quickly, your right Ed002 abou the shifting sands of opinion!

What are some of you going to do if the wive (assuming you get one) drops the odd clanger divorce her, get a new one, divorce her - get a new one and so on, that's pretty something or other?

I've always rated Glen, he does not need to play out of position, he makes great moves in attack whenever possible. He also needs to keep his place in the England team in defence. aklfc

Sorry mate I'm not stupid enough to get married, it's turned you into a misery and I have no intention of losing my smile anytime soon.

MIKEY

Merely a methaphor Mickey as to how fickle some are?

A short while back Johnson was terrible now he's great

Nothing to do with tying-the knot!

I really do believe that with all these right backs, ala Walker,Richards,Jones and Smalling not to mention Luke (to good for Liverpool) Young, throwing down the gauntlet. Glenn has picked it up and slapped each and every one in there crust with it and showed em who's boss when it comes to attacking right backs. It's alright these guys bombing forward but none have the quality or guile in the final third as Glen has.
Bar a couple of lapses against Chelsea he's been outstanding since he came back and has also over come Martin Kelly's challenge as well which is no mean feat its own right. Know let's see Kelly do the same thing tonight, play that well he'll feel hard done by being dropped.
Ps,Luke Young only gets a gauntlet over his crust for having the cheek to turn down us,cheeky lad and I don't mean his asse features of a face/chin. Big props Glen, keep it goin.
Jonson.

My concern with Glen is, he's injury prone.
As with most of our players, at the moment KK and SC seem to get the lads to play for the manager. All the best.

KNEE JERK

Knee Jerk, that's the beauty that we've got such a tremendous player in Kelly to bring in if Johnson gets injured. Not the guile of Johnson going forward but he's not shy at doing it by any means. I don't know about anyone else but i really do believe these young guns have added fule to the fire of Johnson's belly. Ed001 where do you think Martin Kelly's position will eventually be,full back or a

Wel ed sick of all the stupid rumours going about like Santa clause will be brought in on the 26th of dec on a season long loan.. The truth who do u think we will sing and sell..

Cheers

Paul ynwa {Ed002's Note - I have given my opinions on numerous occasions - you really need to read the posts. I should also say it is only November right now and things can easily change.}

I think we'll sing 'We Three Kings' and 'Away In A Manger'. But I've always liked Silent Night

"sing and sell".......priceless!

Excellent summary again provided by Ed002 on the stadium issues.

This is really turning into a difficult and thorny matter regardless which way the owners look to go and what a headache they must be having. Every single option that is available has as many con's as pro's.

Whether the fans are split or have a decisive opinion one way or another in regards to a new Stadium or re-development, it seems to be of small consequence when you look at the barriers to overcome. And i suspect the club may have decided to go down one route and then encountered further issues which has made them have a total re-think. All the time more and more money that we can ill afford to waste is being spent on exploring and we appear no nearer a solution.

Personally i would love to see a new stadium, one fit for a club of our pedigree. However seeing an Anfield with a 65/70,000 capacity would be a sight to behold.

However if we ploughed on with a new stadium do we continue with the design orchestrated by one Tom Hicks and his firm of architechs and therefore always having a constant reminder? If i was FSG i would not be signing up to that but would/does anyone else care?

The issues surrounding Anfield, oh my God. Where do you begin? An absolute minefield.

The crux of the matter is how best to get this extra 15/20,000 seats that FSG believe will put us on an even keel with the likes of Mardid, Barca and those idiots down the East Lancs road.

I'm not in favour of seeing Anfield restricted to three sides for the next four seasons either in any event as each stand is hauled down and replaced.

I just don't know which way the club is going to go and how they intend on doing it, when and why.

Good luck to them i say. Again the picture has been completely well and truly cocked up by Messrs H&G.

They'll haunt us for a few years yet.

Bob the Red

New stadium for me as well. I know we are in the minority but I feel a new stadium will always have more seats than a re developed anfield and more seats mean more money and more success, at least long term anyway. I would rather have success than a historic stadium.
Although a 70k anfield would be amazing. I can see why the club are taking so long to decide.
Great post by the way bob.

MIKEY

To highlight part of the practical problems facing the club and redevelopment ; there are still numerous properties valued by estate agents on Lothair Road (behind the Main Stand) at circa £54k to £89k.
I know that may not seem a lot by national house price standards, but it's still about average for Liverpool. And higher than I would have thought, given how run-down the area is. So, if there is compulsory purchase, it would be at a significant cost. Obviously, owners and / or property speculators keeping hold.
The Real KB

Im in favour of a new stadium, its tough getting tickets and for the last few seasons I've only managed to get cup tickets for lesser opposition or pre season friendlies.

Id love to attend more but availability is scarce. {Ed001's Note - how will getting a new stadium make it any better than just expanding the current one? There will be more tickets either way.}

What's happening with the new ground . What do you think will happen ed . {Ed002's Note - With a feeling of deja vu, there are five options as I see it: (1) New build to an existing “approved” design commissioned by the previous owners. This has the benefit of being the quickest and most economic way forward as far as a new build goes and I recall the fans being impressed with the designs. (2) New build to the design of an existing stadium (e.g. the Allianz Arena). This would save considerably on architects fees but may prove problematic in other areas – but may be more viable than folks realise. (3) New build to a completely new design. It will cost considerably more and take much longer to go down this route. This has to be a high-risk option. (4) Redevelopment of Anfield to add 12-15k seats that FSG would like to see. Economically this would seem to be the option that would give the best return on investment, but this is the option that is hampered by local planning regulations. My feeling is that this is seemingly the option that most fans would prefer. (5) A phased improvement and redevelopment of Anfield to bring the stadium up to code and to perhaps add some additional seating. This would provide a medium term solution that only moves the real issue to the right, but it would possibly facilitate the inclusion of the full quota of additional seating at a later date. My assumption was always that any naming right deal would be for a new build and not for a redeveloped Anfield. I don't know if anything has changed in respect of that. I also don't know if FSG are actively trying to find a way to overcome planning regulation restrictions that would allow them to eventually add the additional seating at Anfield that they desire. Building a new stadium is going to mean a very large loan being taken on and even though sponsorship will cover much of the cost year on year, it can possibly be seen as an albatross that FSG may not want hanging around their neck. My own view at this time is that the club will look at a phased improvement of Anfield hoping that a way can be found to add the additional seating in the not too distant future.}

Well explained Ed002

No highlight on bbc 1 tonight only

quick question for the EDS. do we have better coverage of football in south africa than you guys in the UK. We have supersport which televises all bpl matches as well as all top la liga , german league, italian, portugese, brazilian and our local psl games.

LIV POOL-ZN {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Have to agree with that. I work in Kazakhstan, and we used to have Supersportzone - it was absolutely brilliant. Game after game, and loads of them live. Even the 3 o'clock Saturday ones.
Unfortunately satellite supplier has changed and one of the pleasures of working here has gone.
Miss Supersportzone.
DJP

Blimey o Riley. Please tell me that the Prem gets money off this ed, and that it's not one of those Sky selling on & taking the profit deals ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - It will likely be a deal with ESPN not Sky.}

In Kenya we have a 24 hour BPL channel with at least 3 games live every Saturday. Also whatever games are on Sunday are shown live. Midweek games are also shown in Carling cup, Champs league. Its brilliant and is all transmitted by DSTV the South African company. Bit expensive at about 60 quid a month but worth it for a 47 year LFC fan like myself. I hardley miss a game.

Covokenya

Here in Singapore we have money grabbing Singtel and Starhub and we need to pay them both a total of about $80 Singapore dollars a month to watch the German, English and Spanish leagues. That amount was paid to watch the World Cup last year. Yup that's more than $1 per match.

Keith YNWA

Covokenya, I live in Kenya and also I'm also a liverpool fan. "covo" wouldn't refer to "Il covo" the nightclub would it? we should meet for the next game and have a pint!

ED I believe its a deal with Sky because they also show Skysports news on Supersport everyday at 12-1 and 6-7...i could be wrong, we also have a seperate ESPN Channel...so yeah...you might be wrong...but i cant be sure {Ed002's Note - It is apparently related to some deal struck by a South African organization called Naspers with both ESPN and NewsCorp.}

I enjoyed a little bit of home watching the games on Setanta Ireland each week here in Canada up until last month. Now they're broadcast from sportsnet with Craig Forrest as a pundit. Just not the same really.

Thats one thing i miss about sa's dstv

A lot has been said about Andy Carroll looking lazy. I think you'll need to realise he has a running style that looks clumsy and less than athletic.

There's nothing he can do about his gait, this is natural. He also runs on his heels which makes him look pedestrian and awkward. Certainly not spritely and lively.

It can have the effect of making him look slow to react, lazy or unfit. I never really took much notice of him whilst at Newcastle, however i've now had the chance of seeing a few games and i've watched a little more closely.

He appears to have lost a little weight since those days but he looked just as cumbersome. The big, big difference is that Newcastle played a style that suited him and involved him far more. At every opportunity they lumped it up to him to scrap away with and used Nolan to feed off the second ball bounce down's.

I was actually surprised with the amount of headers he was actually beaten to in the air, however if you get 40 attempts and win half of them then to the oppostion fan you've been a monster in the air.

Over a 90 minute period, especially at home Carroll was averaging two chances (either half or good) per game in the box again either with his head or feet.

These are the kind of chances he had against Citeh on Sunday where Hart pulled off a fantastic save, Swansea early doors, Norwich late on where he missed by inches and against Wolves where he could have had a hat trick.

At the moment keepers are making great saves and he is missing good chances. But the point is, his playing time is very much restricted but the chances are still there.

We will create more chances for him, Carroll just needs a bit of luck and things to change a little bit. I don't personally think he's that far off what we are after. He could be playing awful and bagging loads of goals and no one notices one jot. He could be playing well and not scoring and fans would be moaning.

At the moment he is struggling a little bit and not scoring but with patience he'll come good. But we need to ensure we do not expect things that he cannot produce. I've heard some fans say "For £35M he should win us the game single handedly".

He'll be frustrated. But with the club looking after him and keeping very patient with him. He will come good.

Bob the Red

I think as and when saurez gets injured which is bound to happen at some point and carrol gets a prolonged run in the side, gains a bit of momentum and scores a couple of goals and gets his confidence up then all will be good

Agree with your post Bob. I'm gonna get slated for this but personally believe that if Carroll had played as many minutes as Suarez has, that he would have scored a few more goals than Suarez has to date. I'm not saying hes a better player, just that he hasn't had many oppurtunities. When he scores a few goals, he will start to relax and do the simple things that hes good. As i've said before, Liverpool need to get used to playing with AC, as much as AC needs to get used to playing with Liverpool.

Tommy Walsh

I agree bob. Got nothing against him but I don't think he shows the desire to play. For example, whenever Suarez misses or gets a decision that goes against him, you can tell from the body language that he's frustrated which in turns tells you that he wants to win. Carroll doesn't show that desire, in my opinion. Perhaps it's because he hasn't played enough to show that?

Keith YNWA

He can also create assists in the same way crouch would "knock - down" the ball. no one seems to be following in on those and they just ball watch expecting him to go for goal every time

I would prefer if suarez actually got on with the game instead of bemoaning his luck, yes it shows his passion but is a handicap to the team, what happens if a good oppertunity is missed because suarez is too busy relaying his passion to no avail. You dont need to have little outbursts to show your commitment to this club, andy works hard enough across the lines closing down the opposition. Im sorry keith but your argument is pretty void in my humble opinion

Just reading back through the posts from last night. Great comments from all.

As i said no one could argue about any of the points made and Real KB agree with your footballing centre back notions. Back in the day, every one of our CB's had to be able to play and be comfortable on the ball, even Tommy Smith who is now only known as a man made of Liverpool Rock, could play football, Hughes, Hansen, Lawro, Gillespie, Thommo.

Perhaps the world of football has gone too long without ball playing centre halves and modern day coaches are now content with defending first, playing football second?

Well done chaps keep up the good banter, thoroughly enjoyable stuff to read.

Bob the Red

I read the same posts and must say I really enjoyed too, especially Real KB's post about how Arsenal used to shout 'hoof' every-time Carragher had the ball. I also remember them singing 'Liverpool, hoof the ball'. I agree 100% with what Real KB said about them acting like they invented football.

I remember when Roy Evans took over after Souness and the football we played then was on a par with anything Arsenal play now, we used to pass the opposition to death. I remember one game when Barnes was playing centre midfield and they showed his stats after the game and he had passed the ball something like 120 times and had only given the ball away once or twice. It was terrific stuff.

Good stuff Real KB mate.

JRG

Morning lads. I wasn't ripping anyone on here last night btw. But just saying, as the Prem's speeded up, we've gone down the route of having good, old solid safety-first central defenders. Row Z it.
I hope Kenny instills in the entire club, play the ****ng thing. Keeper throw out to full backs giving him options - our keepers hardy ever seemed to boot it upfield (that's probably not true, but the short throw was played much more than now) - short corners. Keep possession.
I don't care where Kenny gets new signings from : British, Continental, Timbuk****ngtuu !
Just so long as they can play football.

Eds, so apparently we have some interest in kagawa?

What abov keisuke honda? Any interest?

Kagawa is 2-3 years younger but I think honda is a more complete player. Less injury-prone too, I think.

Kagawa can play both wings but honda can play both wings, centremie, attacking mid and forward. Plus he's good with free kicks too.

If you've ever watched japan play, it's clear honda is the more influential of the 2.

I hope if we're looking at kagawa, we're looking at honda too.

Any opinions, anybody?

Singapore Red
Pls post on banter cos it's not a rumour.:-) {Ed002's Note - Liverpool may have blown their chance of Honda in January when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. Recent enquiries for the player have been from Sevilla and Palermo but given the player has been out injured nearly all of the time since September, I am not so sure he will be moving this winter. Liverpool have been one of the clubs, along with Udinese, Spurs, Villarreal and Valencia, who have shown an interest in Kagawa this season. Kagawa himself has had a generally pretty poor season although it has picked up recently.}

I would love Honda.

Last jan we had a feeling we would get Suarez, we did, the summer I had a feeling we would get adam we did, now I have a feeling we would get Honda!

And hope, it happens agains, mate. lolz.

Hope Dortmund out of CL then Kagawa is ready for sale in january :)

I had a feeling you wouldnt get Aquero in the summer.......and you didnt!

I read and also believe that LFC wont buy anyone in January; and i'll bet on offers for R Boudebouz, K Strootman, De Joong, Sissoko and probably A Johnson (man city).
Would you agree?

We'll prob bid for a striker, thats about it,untill the summer.

Hope a link player,in"the hole"also.but strikers a must!!

What is up with coates? Is he injured? Would like to see what liverpool have bought, playing then sitting on bench.

Is it a matter of Kuyt being more "trusted" instead of carroll? Carroll seems to have some badluck of late, with goalies making brilliant saves.

Just find Carroll abit "lazy" on the field.

Appreciate the info/opinion.

DFC

Coates was on the bench vs City, he is young and will need time.

KT!

Coates?? Nothing is wrong with him!! Agger and Skrtel are playing well at the moment poor Jamie (just hoof it) Carragher cant get a game... Coates is cover for Agger, Carragher is now cover for Skrtel... Coates is a good ball playing centre half thats also very good in the air, he's young and one for the future... As for Dirk Kuyt, he usually links up with play, Suarez doesn't speak English great but can speak Spanish and Dutch so seems to link up better with Kuyt and Maxi at times aswell... Carroll needs time, its not that Carroll is lazy, it seems to me he just needs to work on his fitness and stamina, after he got that thigh injury he hasn't really hit full fitness... I think people underestimate Carroll, he's a really good player when he's 100% fit

Coates will probably play today.

PITSILFC

Kuyt speaks english just fine maybe the accent is different but that sll.

29 Nov 2011 01:24:45
Eds what do you think of a 4-3-3 formation do you think we would get overrun in midfield? I think it would help us score more goals because we'll attack with more players...the majority of the time I see suarez with the ball he's alone... {Ed001's Note - the trouble is that a 4-3-3 can often end up being a 4-5-1 and that would leave Suarez even more isolated.}

I think a 4-3-3 with Carroll, Suarez and Downing (or Kuyt/Bellamy) would be the best. That way Suarez isn't alone and has some space to roam around, while Hendo can play CM, and fill the right side when Suarez vacates it.

Mark

Our best team with all players fit is:

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Lucas-Adam
Gerrard
Kuyt-Suarez-Downing

4231 is the best formation ask real madrid its also the formation used by the u18 and reserves

In your formation, ild change one player.

Kelly-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique

Johnson-Suarez-Downing

Hi guys/gals/eds lots of folk are saying we wont sign any name player or players this window from a businessmans point of view I thing you are wrong,if we dont finish in the top four we stand the chance of becoming a permanent also ran which does not have a great deal of appeal for companies who are
interested in naming rights and such,if we are in the top four after the holidays the money men will be tempted to invest to ensure we have a strong finish,if we are 6/7 they might feel we need a boost to push us up the table either way it points to further investment, having done a lot of business in the u/s I think you will find Im right.(godin)

hi ed and lads,do you know if the late great gary speed ever played junior football at crewe?thx jimmybosun {Ed001's Note - I don't actually know.}

He played for Deeside when he was about 13 (the same team Owen played for when he was a kid). I think Leeds snapped him up when he was about 15-16 but can't be sure. I remember playing against him around that time and you could tell he was something special even then. Head and shoulders above the rest of us! RIP.
