Just a big congratulations to probably one of the best club sides ever and i know if it was us that got beat by them on Saturday we as the best fans in the world would have shown them the respect and credit they deserved and stayed back after the final whistle and given them a standing ovation because thats what stands us out from any other not like that shower of shite who dissappeared before the end. They better get use to losing because were on our way back under the guidance of the King!! Roll on next season YNWA.

Kun has said that he wants his second son to be born in the spanish capital. This is interesting considering that Real said they won't bid for him, whether they keep the promise is another situation. I believe Mourinho is not looking for that type of striker but a certain Fernando Llorente although he has Higuian, Benzema and Adebayor plus ronaldo with the wings being occupied with Mesut, di maria, leon, and Sahin the newly signed turkish winger. However Barcelona on the other hand are looking for a target man although I do believe they might be looking at the cheaper option being Rossi. Very interesting aguero wants madrid?? Madrid look past him?? Aguero wants to fit into a club that he will settle into quick. We all know torres didn't settle in quick at chelsea but suarez did at liverpool, plus Aguero is very close with Maxi. I'm not sure but the Aguero situation is very interesting.

well your obviously an idiot..... Sahins a CM not a winger and Barca using a target man? I dont think so.

I read something the other day that mentioned our motive to buy James McCarthy from Wigan when we have young midfield talent in Lucas, Spearing, Shelvey and Coady. Well my first point is about Connor Coady. I know his sister and because that always keep my eye on how Connor is doing. Since the Benitez days, when Kenny was at the academy they have seen Connor Coady as a long term replacement to Jamie Carragher and if you remember Carragher also played in midfield at one point. Daglish still has this view and thats why he's looking to bring in Scott Dann and not the likes of Gary Cahill or Phil Jones. Dann is somebody who is matured enough and has the passion to play for Liverpool and somebody who can along with Carragher mentor Connor Coady. If Liverpool do bring in Scott Dann i can see it being the end for Kyriakos and possibly Daniel Agger for the fact that he is to injury prone.

Now onto the James McCarthy rumour. I think this is a done deal. He's a perfect long term replacement for Steven Gerrard and someone who can come into the team and provide competition for that position now that i think we can accept there will be no return for Aqualani and the definite departure of Christian Poulsen.

As for other departures this summer i would predict:
Jovanovic, Cole, Ngog, El Zhar, Degen, Eccleston, Brad Jones and possibly Insua (which i hope not)

And for arrivals i see the following the players as realistic aquisitions:
Jose Enrique (Newcastle), Scott Dann (Birmingham), James McCarthy (Wigan), Stewart Downing (A Villa), Juan Mata (Valencia). I also see a few other big names being chased and one of them being a striker who would be ideal to rotate with Carroll.

hey guys, I just want to tell you that I am such a big liverpool fan, that I actually have the LFC crest Tattooed on my Penis! When I went to the Tattoo parlour, they said no due to health and safety but my mate did it for me afterwards and here I am today.

Anyway I have it on good authority that either Mata or Aguero will sign within the next few weeks (or at least the deal will be announced)

do you think liverpool will consider heinze, he just left marseille and would be available. think he would be a decent signing... plenty of experience and by the time he retires robinson would be able to step up.

look - we have got a youth policy that will show fruits in the future - let him go back to the mancs with the rest of the old codgers - he will be happy there - lets stick with the young lads

--------------------------------------------------

I think the guy has a point. less risk and a very experienced international who could nurture the young talent we have coming through. please dont expect the young lads to come in and fix us, they deserve to keep their learning curve going and that comes by nickin tips and experince based advice from senior players. gotta keep the balance right.

Hi Ed, Just wondered if you checked out the twitter story I found earlier...... What are your thoughts? It seems to me that this is a fellow Player as Aguero is following him (he only follows 45 people) and he wrote the famous Beatles title as "a good way to describe" Sergio Aguero....Please comment and post!!

Andy
{Ed013's Note - I wouldn't read into it as it probably does not mean he is coming to Liverpool}

29 May 2011 22:18:31
I think that downing is overrated, he is decent at the best of times and we have better players that him already at our disposal such as rodriguez, I think we should spend big on 2 or 3 world class players(aguero, hazard) rather than on 7 or 8 good players as we have been doing for the past 7 years. what do you think?

29 May 2011 22:15:26
Just wondering eds if we bought perroti and mata, would perroti be used on the right wing and mata on the left, considering perroti is right footed?

Thanks
{Ed013's Note - I reckon mata would start on left and perrotti on the right but they would swap around in a game so it does not matter which side they start}

My Mum's friend at work is a former coach, I don't know much about him and have forgotten his name already, but I do know he has coached Ian Rush and Michael Owen. I'm clutching at straws here but gonna try and find out if he's got good connections with people in the game now.

I'll try and remember his name next time I speak to me Mum and get back to yeh - because I assume everyone thinks I'm bullsh*tting.

Just a pointer on No 3 about money issues: Fact Suarez was coming in to play with torres so £25M was there to spend, Caroll was a summer signing but was pushed through because of torres, even though if carrol was bought now it would not have been £35M (£25M at tops) so there is aprrox £50M willing to be spent! Tranfer kitty at the moment is £100M to spend and thats without selling the Dead wood!!!

Thanks for the reply Ed but can I take slight issue with you about some of you're retorts - in a non confrontational way of course :)

point 1) I should have been more clear with Dalglish quote which should have read
"The people we'll be looking at are of the highest calibre, because the players here have done really well since January, " said Dalglish.

"It would be disrespectful to them not for us not to be looking at a higher level"

You now read the quote (and I do not want Dalglish out !) what do u thing with regards to Marveaux

Point 2) If we are looking for a wing back - why are we looking at Enrique - his stats (and I have them) do not indicate a creative wing back

Point 3) thanks for the reassurance over money - I was hoping you would say that - I suppose the million dollar question is how much but as Dalglish said they were going to spend 25 million on Suarez before it was recouped on Torres - so it looks good.

Point 4) Again I think I have been misunderstood due to me poor questioning - can I re-ask do you think there are any other wingers apart from Johnson and Young that are of the same quality that will substantailly improve liverpool to a top four side ?

Many thanks again - Diggerbarnes

I have been looking at Sergio Agueros official Twitter, someone he is following (below) reacted to the news when he announced he was leaving Atletico with this comment copied from twitter: 100% true no bulls**t, check ageuros official twitter and look for elcorredorequis on his following section....

En fin. Si la vida de @aguerosergiokun fuese una pel cula bien podr a sonar a estas horas "A Hard Day's Night".

This translates to "although some people at athletico will be hurt and saddened by the news (sergio aguero) it sounds like that movie "a hard days night"." could this mean LIVERPOOL???

These Stewart Downing, James Mccarthy, Jose Enrique, Ashley Young, Gervinho, Scott Parker and Scott Dann (just because he's a scouser) rumours have got to stop! First of all, the players would improve the squad if they replaced the dead wood but they will certainly not improve the team to compete with the top 4 after they have signed all these brilliant players such as Alexis Sanchez etc. Liverpool will just be another top 7 team. I've had enough of the greatest British team ever being linked with rubbish players. I sincerely hope that players like Diego Perotti, Juan Mata, Charlie Adam, Vargas, Eden Hazard and of course the "unlikely" to come to Anfield Sergio Aguero are the type of players we are interested in. Please let me know if you, like me, a passionate and realistic Liverpool supporter agree by believing or not believing. Many Thanks

I feel pity to the person who thinks gerrard demands that the team play for him..... watched him play for liverpool since he was a kid mate and dont think we could have had a better and motivated player than him... he gets the ball because other players think and know that he can work magic and possesses greater quality and ability than themselves.. have you ever seen gerrard frustrated when he is not palyed the ball when others are in better position than him like ronaldo's and rooney's... so stop the crap talk and be grateful that we have a player like gerrard who will do anything for the club

lets win the 19th for jamie and stevie

dont pity me mate i too have watched him since his debut and i will never doubt his ability with the ball it is without the ball where he could learn from xavi and iniesta and improve, i remember him moaning when being pushed out wide and also benitez rightly not trusting him in a 2 man midfield and therefore moving him behind the striker oh and one more thing lets win the 19th for lfc not jc&sg they are part of the club not the club

"Lucas Leiva is being lined up for a £5m move to Napoli "
I am not his biggest fan but this is not enough, surely cannot be true.

Lucas has just signed a new deal keeping him at the club until 2015 also we paid twice that amount for him from Gremio there is no chance of this happening. Does any one have any concrete evidence regarding this Mata bid being excepted? Cheers Carlos 81

@Stone YNWA,

May thanks for your input mate, I couldn't agree more; Clichy is certainly not preferred - Vargas then Enrique (He has lots of UK League experience), I would also like to say that young Robinson impressed for the first team, his strength, skill and pace (Saw him been Walcott in pace in their prem league match!!!!).

Bojan - your idea is good for LFC, but Eds have a very good point, Barca are not cash rich, they want players that are not cheap and will need the cash. £20 mil for a young, strong class act like Bojan who is still growing is a mouth watering propesct.

@Bazzaa

- I agree with almost everything you said mate, just I don't rate Clichy at all.
I never really thought about it before, but trying to get Bojan on loan (with option to buy) would be brilliant. Offer Barca an initial fee (£5m?) and full wages which shouldn't be much considering he's from the youth. Then if we decide to buy him pay the rest to make up £20m? Possible Ed?

Stone YNWA.
{Ed013's Note - i don't think they would loan him out as they want to just offload him to get money for cesc and rossi. So it would have to be a straight purchase but he would be a good signing}

29 May 2011 20:55:44
You are all mad with this speculation about all the players liknked to the club on here, KD will make sure LFC does not conduct their transfers in a public way, nothing is concrete except for the post!!!
When there is something to report, it will be announced that a deal has been struck, untill then keep the madness going. It so much fun that all you lot are linking us with. lmao

Heard from a few very loyal well respected reds that dalglish has not been givin a budget this year john w henry and nesv have practicaly said if there is a player u want and the fee isnt over the top u can have the cash, i believe this to be true as u seen the backing in january... if the player is good enough and liverpool are not held to ransom then i trust kd to make nothin less than quality signings... Also heard that we are looking at sunderlands phil bardsley as an option for lb personally i rate him and i think he'd be a good signing could get him on the cheap aswell 3 maybe 4 million

29 May 2011 20:41:13
What's happened on the Gary Cahill front? And we don't seem to be getting linked with many CB CM or ST.

29 May 2011 20:40:44
to ed: 20th may on LFCTV

Meanwhile, Dalglish thinks comings and goings are inevitable at Melwood this summer - but he has strict criteria about adding players to his squad list.

"The people we'll be looking at are of the highest calibre, because the players here have done really well since January, " said the boss. "It would be disrespectful to them not to look at players who are high calibre."

Well maybe KD didnt say like you put it but that a clear statement about his criteria for transfers.. {Ed002's Note - That of course is radically different than whatr was written.}

29 May 2011 20:12:59
who would you prefer?

juan mata = unbelievable

Marin - Told us to come back in a years time.
Young - Off to Man Utd, done deal.

Jarvis - Wolves asking for too much.
Mata - Held positive talks with the agent aswell as Reina putting in a word with Mata himself, we're also willing to pay the asking price.
Hazard - Unlikely, will be amazed if DC pulls it off.
Gervinho - Held preliminary talks with agent, gave us the heads up for putting a bid in for him.
Dzsudzsak - Turned us down, holding out for a move to Spain.

Hopefully that will mean he is not coming anywhere near anfield either

It looks like berbetov might be frozen out by fergie after there champ league destruction by barca. Could be worth a cheeky bid.

Are some fans mental? A lazy old Manc has been who can't even make their bench when they get humiliated by Barca? Fergie would drive him to Melwood you chump! Do you actually watch football? Just A Question To All The Readers And The EDS...
Do You Think Aquilani Deserves Another Chance (Not That He Has Already Had A Chance Anyway)

Agree/Believable = Yes
Disagree/Unbelievable = No

{Ed002's Note - Aquilani does not want to come back. Perhaps the question should be "Should Aquilani give Liverpool another chance?"}

29 May 2011 15:46:23
hi ed, great website read everyday and trust what u say and also feel for you answering the same questions over and over, my question is, have liverpool still got an eye on mario gomez of bayern munich? i no last summer we were very interested but that was under the management of roy hodgson, what dyu reckon?

craig lfc {Ed002's Note - None right now that I am aware of. It seems everyone is obsessed about strikers today when priorities are elsewhere.}

29 May 2011 15:45:26
Hey ed's I know another striker isn't high on the priority list but how do you rate Kevin Gameiro and how much do you think we would have to spend for his services? I'm not sure if he has been linked with a move as of late but I don't see him at Lorient to much longer? {Ed002's Note - He is a decent player drawn to play in Spain for Valencia but with bids from Newcastle and a couple of other sides hanging over him. Until there is any interest he remains one of the hundreds of players who could move this summer.}

29 May 2011 16:01:57
LFC have apparently made an offer for mata about 18 mil, needing to be increased to 21 mil. but i'm here to talk about 3 players, diego (wolfsburg), izaguirre (celtic) and elia (hamburg). they all look to be quality signings and diego was 'honoured' by liverpool interest, izaguirre 'flattered' and elia called us the 'best club in England'. all would be quality signings, diego's creativity will be useful if kenny can tame his men streak, izaguirre has had a wonder season for Celtic, picking up many major awards and Elia is young determined and maybe not too pricey. What are your opinions on these three players Ed and what chances do you think we have of signing them? YNWA {Ed002's Note - This has all been discussed to death previously. Refer to previous posts please.}

29 May 2011 15:56:25
Hi Ed's, thanks for all the good work, you are all doing a sterling job :) I am a little puzzled though, i thought this was a rumours site? there is an increasing number of questions to the ed's lately, it is becoming a Q&A site at the moment, lets give the Ed's a break and stop asking the same questons all day long.
Anyway i would just like to let you guys know something i've known for a while, a close friend who has links to LFC informed me a while back that Liverpool will be splashing the cash this summer, No names where mentioned but there is certainly a buzz about the place, apparently a few deals have been in place for big players since February, but Liverpool have gone back to the old ways of keeping everything in house and very hush hush, all i know is these deals helped Pepe change his mind about leaving. Sorry i don't have more info on this (ie: names) but i will be sure to post if i hear anything more.
Thanks again Ed's and keep up the good work....

The Facts on Transfer funds provided by Owners.
In December and January when Roy was in charge, he has repeatedly saying that he may not provided with funds during Winter transfer Window. But, when Kenny was put incharge owners has stepped up the chase for Suarez and in Deadline day get rid of Torres and eventually Grabbing Caroll. This shows the confidence that the owners has on Kenny.
Some of the fans has belived that the Arrival of Suarez and Caroll is compensated by the departure of Torres and Babel. But, they have to know the fact that our club has tried to purchase players like Richards and Adam. KENNY has also stated that the owners are disappointed with the fact that they can't buy enough players in the Winter transfer window.
Caroll has been a desperate buy and it is January transfer window in which the players are hard to come by.

I honestly believe that we need 0 new players next season.
Team is playing well, spearing is like a 20 mill new signing, sterling and suso to be stars, shelvey looks good.
Then carroll suarez and kuyt up front.
And if Joe cole gets a little confidence, he could be a big player.
Wickham and mata would be nice, but not altogether necessary. We have the players, we have the manager.
Put the money into anfield, and look towards increasing long term revenues. An overhaul is the last thing needed, with such momentum built up second half of last season.

Daveevad
-------------------------------------------------------------
So, we continue on without real wingers, no pace, no depth and very little creativity? The end of the season just showed that the previous manager was not the right choice, but the squad urgently needs a significant overhaul. In short, we are not as bad as initially thought, but we're far from competitive. I don't know what you had last night, but I'll have some too next time out.

A lot of posts here concern the owner's willingness to spend. Some say there is little cash available, and they are a business, and others claim they will throw billions around to get success.

When the new owners came in, they clearly said, watch what we do, not what we say, as a clear reference to H&G and their many lies.

So looking at what they have done since they arrived is the only way to predict their intentions.

To do this we need to remove the Torres episode, as I have no doubt that this wrecked any plans we had for the last few days of the window in January. So, let's ignore Torres, the money he brought in, and Carroll and his fee as that only happened due to Torres leaving.

So our buys in January were limited to

Suarez £23m

However, we also could have bought -

Adam - £8m
Richards - £20m
Young - £15m

The interest in these players is well known and I'm fairly sure bids were made.

So taking off the £6m that Babel made, then the owners were willing to spend £60m in January had all those bids been accepted and deals been done.

I would say that this demonstrates an intention to invest heavily.

Now I am not saying that this means we are bidding for Messi and Ronaldo of course, and more sensibly Auguero. However, I do not buy into the theory that we cannot and will not compete for him, if we judge him to be the right signing.

My gut feel is that we will invest heavily this summer, and although I think it unlikely that a player like Aguero would end up with us, this would be for other footballing reasons, namely his desire to play somewhere else.

Let's forget about H&G, the new owners are totally different, and I for one think that we will finish this transfer window with a heavily improved squad, and the owners many millions lighter.

They want success, and the facts are that based on their intentions in January, they WILL put their money where their mouth is.

Aguero, Adam, Mata and a one or two others would have the EPL quivering in their boots.

Ed there are news links about Mccarhty from Wigan going to Liverpool. It is said that he can play both in the centre and the leftside of midfield..My only question is he any good? The report says that King Kenny rates him highly but i havnt seen his game at all this season {Ed002's Note - I refer you to earlier posts.}

Hi (please post this ed) Had a BBQ with John henry and Daglish the other day they were discussing transfers and said Sanchez, Hazard, Aguero, Alonso, Contreao, Pique, Iniesta and... Christiano Ronaldo were all nailed on. I think they are all obtainable reasonble targets who we could definitely get at a good price. Dont shoot the messenger just what ive been told by the best source there is. I think if we buy all these players it could be good business as we could get them on the cheap as they're just average really. As I said please post this ed my posts never get posted and Dont shoot the messenger. YNWA Exciting times to look forward to!

I believe that Liverpool will be among the biggest spenders in europe, along with City and Chelsea.
This is mainly due to the fact that after this season you have to have an income sufficient to support the club, meaning this is our last chance to buy big an catch up as from next season Arsenal and United will have the largest incomes and therefore largest transfer fees, due to size of stadiums.

Sylvain Marveaux has signed a pre contract to join the mighty reds this summer (its on the official LFC site, in the transfer rumour section). No statement of LFC yet but it looks nailed on.
Is he any good eds? Never heard of him until a few weeks ago.

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts then.}

It seems raul meireles could be the main target of a Spanish team, not sure which one tbh.
Ps. Did anyone see javier mascheranos interview after the match last night, saying that the victory was for the Liverpool fans aswell, because he knew they were sad with him for leaving.
Wonder is he trying to suck up for a move back?

I have heard some pretty unrealistic rumors e.g. alonso coming back.
Trust me when i say this, it will never happen ever!

29 May 2011 13:56:31
Actually Ed, according to LFC journo Brian Reade, Rafa had little say in the Aquilani deal. Eduardo Macia recommended him, singing his praises as the next Alonso, so Rafa took his word for it (the one thing Rafa can be blamed for). It was then Christian Purslow who negotiated that terrible and bizarre deal. {Ed002's Note - Actually Rafa was there for the negotiations.}

29 May 2011 13:28:40
Why do people say we can't buy this striker or this because We have suarez and Carroll every good team ie man u chelsea arsenal spurs city have at least 4 good strikers who can score goals in prem we havn't simple. if one of Carroll or suarez get injured we will struggle with only Kuyt as a good back up option. We need aguero true we might not be able to afford him but if we want to win the league we need quality players and if fsg claim to want this as much as the fans funds should be made available. We will not win the league buying mediocre players like long, jarvis, cahill, Enrique, ect your though ed ?people? Cheers great site by the way

29 May 2011 13:08:40
Good job ed's it seems you've cleared up the rumors a little. No more crap posts that are clearly wrong. I am flying through the page today.
I hope we get
Mata and the rennes winger
and other than that a center back or 3rd foward who would not mind sitting on the bench to start the season.
List of who should go is just to long.

29 May 2011 13:03:35
I think people are a little too optimistic for next season.

To seriously mount a challenge for next season's Premier League we will need to sign at least 11 decent players.

GK x 1
RB x 1
CD x 1
LB x 2
CM x 2
RW x 1
LW x 2
FW x 1

We need these numbers to cancel out injuries, during the season and to create a level of professional uncertainty, where anyone can start and perform thus keeping a colleague out of the team.

Looking our how the top teams have this mentality of interchanging players and overall their inclusion not affecting the teams movement as one. Instead bringing slightly different attributes to combine with the nucleus style of that managers choosing.

Liverpool do not nearly have enough quality in depth that we all hope we do, yes we have turned a corner but to only sign a couple of decent players is only going to make in roads towards a title tilt, not produce any realistic hope.

29 May 2011 13:00:13
Ed, what do you think the funds are this summer for spending before we add what could be gained from transfering players out of the club? There are some big transfer prices being quoted on the site, but I find it hard to believe that we will spend so much.

My personal preference if we are going to spend big is a player for each wing, a left back, centre mid, centre half and centre forward.

We should, and as far as i have heard through the media we are, looking at Hazard/Sanchez/Johnson for the wing positions. Pastore would be grrat for an attacking midfield option, along with James McCarthy. McCarthy could cost this summer but he will be a star in the future and will probably cost double next season. A centre half who would be cheap could be Dann/Johnson/Ridgewell, all defend well and are dangerous at set pieces. Also, I think we should defo buy N'Zogbia and Enrique, both proven performers in the premier league who are destined for bigger and better things!

Whats your thoughts on these signings? {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath about the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Pastore.}

I know it's a random one but what about darren bent as a striker, the lad is a monster in front of goal scores 20+ a season, and with the mangers postion not sorted at villa, would it be worth an offer eds?

{Ed002's Note - So who would you sell, Suarez or Carroll?}

if another striker came in that doesnt mean we would have to sell

29 May 2011 12:42:02
kk sc sl dc are the only people who know who we are going for no one is nailed on to many issues to say someone is nailed on ie wages fees no euro football this season but i honestly think that we are going to make a few surprise signings and the only time we will here of it will be on the lfc web site the pl will be are main goal this season no need to bring in 7-8 players maybe 4 top quality additions and get rid of at least 8 hangers on and bring forward the youth players who tbh have done us all proud this season good times ahead people no.19 on its way

29 May 2011 12:36:59
Ed, reading this site and other pages is a bit of a nightmare etc as regards to how much the fans think each team will spend etc..but asking a realistic question based on the assumption that you do this site etc...then can i presume you have more knowledge than me plus also the possibility of having contacts with the club etc.

Please could you guess(maybe find out if said contacts exists etc) how much realistically would we have to spend?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - It does not work like that I am afraid. There will not be a fixed budget per se; players will be looked at against certain criteria on a case-by-case basis.}

kenny to play a barca style of play next season and will turn to a 4-3-3 formation. kenny realises he needs two flying full backs, one already present in kelly, his LB targets include bains and cissoko. people linking lfc with enrique and barton are deluded, they will only buy quality. De rossi will be bought in for 14m and will play behind gerrard and merelis in midfield. Mata to come in for 22m to play on the left of a 3 man attack with carrol up top and suarez to his right. Jones will also sign as cover for 10m. out will go cole poulson maxi soto konchesky aurellio ngog jovanovic and aquillani raising around 30m

29 May 2011 12:32:34
Hey ed, regarding georginio wijnaldum; his role model is Dirk Kuyt and do u think he would ever consider a move to play with his role model????

{Ed002's Note - There seem to be a lot of fans who think clubs will bring player's friends in to keep them company. This falls in to the same category. If Liverpool approach the player I am sure he will be honored to be linked. It will be nothing to do with Kuyt though.}

Hiya Folks,

I have a genuine source at LFC (not an executive or anything like that but high enough up to hear genuine news regarding everything) who has told me that these 3 signings are definately going to happen and should be sealed before July 1.

- Juan Mata (Valencia)
Fee is yet to be agreed but is over £20m. His agent is holding the deal off at the minute waiting for other clubs to come in. Man City are there but Mata is only a back up option to them who are going for Alexis Sanchez. Man Utd are only keeping tabs on him and have not contacted Valencia regarding a transfer. Liverpool made a formal offer of £18.3m which was told to increase to £21m and a deal could be done.

- James McCarthy (Wigan)
Personal Terms will be agreed reasonably quickly and the fee shouldn't be a problem either and will be the 2nd OFFICIAL signing to make the press. Fee will be around the £9.5m mark give or take.

- Sylvain Marveaux (Rennes)
Possibly the worst kept secret this summer regarding transfers. This deal IS done but no transfers are allowed to be discussed in the press which is why this deal hasn't been publically acknowledged by anybody at the club but it has been done since February.

After these 3 signings, expect a Left Back to definately be signed and possibly a Centre Back and another understudy striker if there is a viable option for the club. Below is a list of targets.

- DL Emilio Izaguirre (Celtic) £4m
- DL Jose Enrique (Newcastle) £9m
- DC Phil Jones (Blackburn) £14m
- DC Scott Dann (Birmingham) £7m
- DC James Tomkins (West Ham) £4m
- ST Connor Wickham (Ipswich) £12m
- ST Gervinho (Lille) £12m
- ST Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea) £8m

LFC Bob

I am friends with a LFC employee and can definitely say that the Juan Mata rumour is true.

He will sign in the next 3 weeks, watch this space

Hi Eds, great work on this site.

Q) Why is there not more clamour from top clubs, or even good-top clubs interested in Adam Johnson?

Clearly he knows how to play football, is silky with the ball, energetic and regularly passes his opponent. Surely he is of the calibre of player most teams would want wide left.

I think presently only Gareth Bale is equally as direct a winger as he right now.

So if the speculation regarding his future, or lack of one, at City sounds, a host of teams should be declaring a liking for the player..

What is it I'm missing because most LFC fans on here do not seem to rate him or would prefer a marquee signing of random names that will not happen.

If A.Johnson is valued anywhere near the £13-17m bracket and was available then why would King Kenny and D.C (not sure about him) not want to sign a player with proven EPL top level football, is English, young and potentially long term problem solved instantly??

Thanks for good work - London Red - YNWA

{Ed002's Note - It is not clear if he is fdor sale for a start. Obviously I cannot say why other clubs are not chasing him. Liverpool may be interested if he becomes available.}

GK: Reina
LB: New Signing
CB: Carragher
CB: Agger
RB: Johnson

CDM: Lucas
CDM: New Signing
CM: Gerrard
RAM: Suare
LAM: New Signing

ST: Caroll {Ed002's Note - Too narrow for me. Please note that all teams, formations and long lists are now on the "wish list" pages.}

29 May 2011 11:55:34
{Ed002's Note - Obviously we don't know what, if anything, significant has been said to Reina. It would likely be naive to give him a list of players that are going to be signed, but perhaps it was explained that the club have plans to be back challenging at the top as soon as possible and there will be the funding to improve the team. Generally the gung-ho, booster type stuff. I must admit I did think when the interest was first shown in Friedel that perhaps the club were hedging their bets for a possible departure of Reina.}

=======================
I also have the feeling that if Friedel signed it wont be a good sign ... In particular that he has more chances to be number 1 at a couple of other clubs interested in him.
But hay many will shout at me that Reina said he is staying as if it was gospel.
Roy

{Ed002's Note - I do however suspect that Spurs may get Friedel.}

they both will be ok for a few years

because both have young players etc

but i do think us liverpool will get 4th if not better next season

missing out will prob be arsenal or chelsea i think

29 May 2011 11:32:25
{Ed002's Note - So who would you sell, Suarez or Carroll?}
-----------------------------------------------

sorry if i haven't picked up on some sort of joke, but Ed002 aren't you the one who's been saying we want 4 top class strikers for the past 6 months?

{Ed002's Note - Er? Liverpool may wish to change another striker (e.g. N'Gog) and someone like Gervinho fits the bill. There is a need for wingers at the club and there is a critical need to strngthen the less glamorous positions such as centre back, defensive midfield and left back. Adding a striker who will be looking at demanding a first team place at a very high cost should not be a priority. Unless money is no object of course?}

29 May 2011 11:29:26
I've taken to ignoring any posts surrounding Ageuro, Sanchez, Neymar etc. Realistically now come on!

Also be aware that the Mancs will probably bid for any half decent player we go for as they are desperate to keep us away from threatening the 19 titles next season.

Fact is whilst the Reds have probably come through their worst spell, the Mancs are probably going into theirs, with the probable loss of 4 senior 1st team players, don't think they will be able to keep hold of their top scorer this season either, after not even picking him for the bench last night.

Even though I am happy that we didn't end up getting the Europa spot, as I think it helps us focus on the league and getting into top 4. Without any Euro football I think it will be a bit harder to secure the overseas talent such as Mata, Cissokho, Payet, Elia, e.t.c. that we would want for the first team. Therefore I think our buys will come from mainly proven prem players for this season, to get us into the desired top 4 placing;

Goal Keeper: Friedel
Central Defenders: Scott Dann, Phil Jones
Left back: Leighton Baines, Emilo Izaguirre,
Wings: Adam Johnson, N'Zogbia, Young, Lennon, McCarthy or Downing
Midfield: Adams, Parker, Milner
Striker: Gervinho, Wolfswinkel, Wickham, Adebayor, Defoe.

29 May 2011 11:14:23
Liverpool will enquire about arteta of everton and pit together a 28 m deal for him and baines. What do you think of arteta Ed? {Ed001's Note - not a chance.}

Hi Eds,

Just been looking at some of the names that people keep posting about on here on you tube. If only we had Man city's money because E.Hazard, Gervinho, Kun Augero and Mata look the real deal. I'm happy that we will sign players and that we have a that we have a certain policy, but i can only see that we will sign average players. have mixed feelings about next season. DC you best come up with some goods

29 May 2011 11:13:51
can't believe Lucas was player of the season should av been Kuyt. Lucas is still just average and we should replace him. Tries his best but just not good enough.

Morning all.
To the fans saying we don't need any signings you need to get real.
We need at least 2-3 quality 1st team players.
I know flanagan and Robinson made a few appearances but there going to need a couple of years until there properly ready.
They did well but there not good enough yet.
I know we played better under kenny but there were games when we were clueless , if we want top 4 or challenge for the title we need quality.
Spam won the league and they need players as do chelski and city.
So surely we do!

Why would we have to sell, look at all top teams they dont just have 2 strikers

{Ed002's Note - So Bent, who moved for £20M plus in January is going to walk out on Aston Villa to warm the bench at Liverpool - I doubt it. For me, Bent would have been an alternative to Andy Carroll. The club don't need and won't get both.}

29 May 2011 10:49:57
Ed, we are almost a week into the english transfer window and still have not seen any signings, not just Liverpool but most clubs, when do you think it will all start to heat up a bit ? I thought clubs would have had some of there transfer targets (between English clubs) sorted or nearly sorted so when the window opened they could "officially" sign them and get them in and around the club and there new team mates asap

{Ed002's Note - You seem to be understanding that teh players stay at the club over the summer. They don't. They take time off and go on vacation etc.. There is no rush to get things completed. I expect there may be several completed transfers announced in the coming days though.}
_________________________________

7 new players for the reds possibly ED? if so who do you reckon they are?!

ED002's Note - It is impossible to answer that I am afraid without heading for the obvious answer of Sylvain Marveaux. You see, what if Liverpool fail to offer enough money for a target; what if his club won't sell; what if the player won't move?}

Whats the chances of players Like, Sterling, Suso, Coady etc playing as first team regulars tis season coming? Someone once said "if their good enough their old enough"! any other names you would add to that ed? {Ed002's Note - You probably need to opinion of Ed001 who will not be around until the afternoon for additional names. However, I very much doubt any will be first team "regulars" this year. The natural progression is to perhaps get a run out in a Carling Cup game at some point, an occasional late substitute appearance in the league and then perhaps spend a year out on loan. After that the club will have a much better feeling on their suitability as first team "regulars".}

Hey ed,
A few week ago there were rumours that Reina was thinking of leaving, but after Kenny signed the 3 year deal and Comolli had a talk with him, Reina said that he saw future at Liverpool.

So my point is this. Enrique, Charlie Adam, Mcarthy, Downing are all good players but are they that highly rated so the Reina thinks that there is Future in Liverpool or else apart those players there are going to be surprises. I am not saying that those are rubbish but for example if you get Messi you know he is a supreme quality player. What are your thoughts ed?

David Gozo, Malta.

{Ed002's Note - Obviously we don't know what, if anything, significant has been said to Reina. It would likely be naive to give him a list of players that are going to be signed, but perhaps it was explained that the club have plans to be back challenging at the top as soon as possible and there will be the funding to improve the team. Generally the gung-ho, booster type stuff. I must admit I did think when the interest was first shown in Friedel that perhaps the club were hedging their bets for a possible departure of Reina.}

Liverpool have stuck to their policy of investing in promising youth this week. Benny Noon[Irish] and Carl Fowi[Belgian] have been shown around the academy. Both are 15.

Well we'd have to wait another year for them to sign as foreign players cant sign until they are 16!

i know most web sites base there transfer rumours on speculation however what websites appear to be ' in the know '. great site btw {Ed002's Note - My recommendation would be to ask this question at KopTalk.}

{Ed002's Note - You seem to be understanding that teh players stay at the club over the summer. They don't. They take time off and go on vacation etc.. There is no rush to get things completed. I expect there may be several completed transfers announced in the coming days though.}

big steve177

- have you seen Aguero play? At 22, he'd be a genuine top class buy if the fee is around £40m. as previously discussed wages and our wage structure would be our biggest barrier assuming he'd want the move. but you can't question his ability even as a wide supporting striker. perhaps Carol may not be there to be our leading scorer, but as the link man with midfield and bullyboy for opposition central defenders.

alot depends on Kenny's choice of formation, Carol as a lone striker with Aguero, Saurez and Gerrard supporting in a 4-2-3-1 could be devastating. Ed, any clues to the dominant formation Kenny prefers? -might help us understand what players we are looking at...

LFC_MIKE_YNWA {Ed002's Note - The risk of playing a formation like that is that the midfield would be overrun.}

29 May 2011 09:50:34
Not a rumour exactly.
I think Kenny Dalglish will opt for mostly British players in the summer, with only one or two arriving from abroad

Dann
Downing
Sturridge
Baines
and maybe
Mata
Marveaux

Hi eds.. I heard that 4 player are on their medical this weekend and that is: the first is juan manuel mata-valencia worth 19.4 million the second is scott dann, worth 8.7 million the third is brad friedel-free transfer and the last is sylvain marveaux- also on a free transfer... How about it eds is it true the rumour that i heard from my cousin?? Please answer it my question eds... Please.... :)

{Ed002's Note - Isuspect it is not true. For a start, Mata is on the road with the Spanish U21 side.}

29 May 2011 09:45:39
I know I'm being quite fickle but after what he said last night i quite like Mascherano again. {Ed002's Note - Fickle, surely not. Lucas went from extreme figure of hate to player of the season almost seamlessly.}

Hopefully in the near future we make it to the Champions league final again ourselves, draw Utd, give them a lesson in football to the extent that was on show last night.

After all the talk of maybe Pep Guardiola leaving Barca yesterday, It's just a matter of time until UTD fans start saying he's Fergie's successer. He's top class.

Anyway, I enjoyed last nights game. Wish it was us handing out the justice that was dished out, but like i say, maybe in the future.

I think even Tommy had an idea that UTD would get found out last night because they have looked average all season, but somehow won the league. Patient tactical superiority was on show last night and I loved watching Fergie's chewy getting a pasting.

Haha for a minute there when you said Benny Noon you was taking the mick out of David Pleat when he used to commentate on LFC on ITV as he couldnt pronounce Benayoun and used to sound like he called him Benny Noon.

Ok Ed enough of this unrelastic 0/10 names what about the little player who scored yesterday- that who Messi fella will he be at Anfield next season, we can offer Konchesky as a swap

29 May 2011 08:33:11
I honestly believe that we need 0 new players next season.

Daveevad

---------------------------------------------------

and who do you expect will play left-back? Paul Konchesky?
And what about playmakers? There will be injury worries too, and we need GOOD back-up players, not Poulsen and Jovanovic.

Agreed, we just need on or two signings, but we STILL NEED TO SIGN someone.

The trouble with supposition on who KK is going to sign is that we don't really know what his preffered formation for next season will be.

I reckon he may go 4-3-3, but whatever the formation, that will dictate the signings as one formation would require more strengthening

Barca out of this world last night that is the standard we should be aspiring too but people should realise that it has taken 20 plus years for them to achieve this through an ethos through the whole club so each team at each level play the same way so the point of this love in is that seeds of change have started at anfield but its going to take patience now its great to discuss rumours and we all enjoy passing snippets of things we hear and the eds do a great job and if people ask them for an opinion dont get a strop on if you dont like their answer ok my snippet of info keeps being told to me and I know the eds brent convinced and I dont believe it as it goes against our policy but I hear repeatedly alonso not ozil will be wearing the red shirt next year

I have just recieved an email with news about the potential signing of Mata. Valencia are willing to sell for about £20M. There are 3 clubs looking at him, Liverpool, City and Man U. However, Man U only have a minor interest in him but us and city are serious about signing him. The player himself is undecided. There have been no bids so far and the player is waiting to see if any other clubs come in. He is cautious about joining city because he doesn't think he would not be a key player for them and is therefore not an automatic starter. His agent is encouraging him to go to city because of the obvious financial reards for both of them but he would prefer first team football over money. He therefore feels Liverpool are his best possiible destination at the moment.

Also, my source tells me that the Liverpool owners are going to be spending serious money over the next 2 or 3 windows. Carroll, as Comolli said, was a summer target and was only signed because Torres left meaning that we were prepared to spend bg in this window regardless. They have punlically stated that there will be a marque signing. It is possible Mata might not be it.

One man who won't be it though is Sergio Auero. We can afford him but he is adament that he wants to join a club in the champions league. If he is still ay Atletico in a couple of years time, we may sign him.

Finally, Liverpool have no intesrest in Downing, Jarvis, M'villa, Barton, young or Benzema. Some are because they are not good enough others have never been looked at according to my source.

PJ

Im sorry but when was this public statement of a marque signing made??? I'm pretty sure you'll find it wasn't

my best friend's auntie's dog's former owner's brother-in-law who makes cups of tea for steven gerrard's mum's mate's daughter told me that these are 100% coming in..

neymar (£500,000)
messi (2 million + poulsen)
ronaldo (bosman)
& taking gary neville out of retirement on a 250k a week contract as a player/coach

i was the person who said that torres would go to chelsea even though everyone already knew it, so that must mean i'm right about this.

In the wake of that amazing AMAZING performance from barcelona, going on to win their 11th trophy in 3 years. I hope this is enough to convince some people out there of the importance of a good football academy and the importance of finding talented youths to bring through a solid coaching structure, they have 4 of the worlds 5 best players in that squad(XH, LM, DV, AI), and 3 of those players have been at barca since they played at youth level(messi, xavi and iniesta). It's just laziness to let other clubs develop these players at half the level we could provide at melwood and then buy them at a sky high price years later.

29 May 2011 03:08:33
need some signings this summer, cant rely on kenny having a huge influence on a hopeless bunch for too long ... need to stop buying the worlds most overpriced players ( Caroll & johnson ) and get some value for money , i mean david villa 32 mill , caroll 35 mill , its pathetic!

I think we will get ozil too but forget Aguero at anfield he's not coming what you think ed ? {Ed002's Note - I don't think Oezil will be sold by Real Madrid. They have bought in Sahin and are about to start tirimming. Both are seen as future first choices. As for Aguero, both Chelsea and Manchester United failed to put a package together that was acceptable to the player after discussions with his representatives. Juventus spent two days with his representatives and we don't know whether they came up with the right package for the player, but they did make an offer to Atletico Madrid, which was rejected. I would not entirely discount Real Madrid from the equation just yet. As we stand at the moment, Liverpool have not made any approach.}

we need to atleast make an approach u never know what he will decide, if we dont atleast try then somethings up

Im sorry but i 100% disagree with you. yes we have a manager. but really and truly we have maximum 4 class players and a lot of fringe/youngsters. we need to up the competition/standards fighting for places in positions. especially wings/and left back is a MUST. you just saw the champions league - with all due respect its going to be tuff to get into top 4 next year.. which is why we need WORLD CLASS!

All this talk of Barcelona being the best team in the world EVER is an excuse for Manu fans to get over the pasting they have just had. As far as I am concerned Barca are brilliant but they are beatable by good teams....clearly United are just not good enough. I think Fergie messed up AGAIN....he is carp at tactics....he should have filled the midfield with 5 players including some dog soldiers like Fletcher and Scholes.....at least they would have given Barca something to worry about ( ...... but they would still have lost !!! ).....keep sucking the lemons boys and try to lose your smile !!

29 May 2011 00:24:53
There is talk for Lpool signing big players; Mata, Aguero, Coentrao, etc..
but is anyone else worried we wont sign any and just sign average players eg. Parker, Dann, Adam, Enrique, friedal etc... not saying there not good i just wouldnt be happy if that is all we signed
YNWA
Red Rob - JFT96 {Ed002's Note - The focus has to be on improving and strngthening the squad in particular positions, some of which do not carry the glamour of a £30M striker.}

Reply - Ed mate, mediocor players such as enrique and friedal wont really strengthen are squad and make us a top 4 side {Ed001's Note - Friedel is one of the best keepers in the history of the Prem, having him as a back up to Pepe would be a coup.}
