Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

29 Mar 2013 19:20:23
Hi Edds
just wandering would Liverpool start transfer negotiations between a club before the summer? i'm only using eriksen as he's everywhere atm, so if we wanted to beat i. e spurs to him would we start now or wait till summer? {Ed001's Note - you can negotiate deals at any time, as Norwich have done to sign Rocky and Bullwinkel.}

LOL - Rocky & Bullwinkel! Had me in stitches

29 Mar 2013 18:43:02
Hey Eds,

Do anyone of you know where Liverpool FC will be visiting this summer for their annual summer training camp? {Ed001's Note - isn't it Down Under this year? Or am I just getting confused with the friendlies?}

29 Mar 2013 19:20:06
Spurs fans really litter this site. They're everywhere.

Davey Sulls

No its just AVB, he has a multi personality disorder and trolls the internet. the Chelsea sacking really messed with his head, just ignore him he will tire and fall asleep.
DBol

God tell me about it! They're everywhere just like Starbucks!

30 Mar 2013 19:16:19
It's how they get all their signings by tracking our rumours. Should start a rumour about one of their players joining us and that will completely mess with their heads!

29 Mar 2013 19:07:27
Ive just been listening to a web site on the radio and I have never heard such ignorant comments about Liverpool. They began by saying they do not think rogers has improved Liverpool (debatable). Then they say Liverpool is no where near being a top 4 team, yet were 7th place 9points and we have been so inconsistent and spurs have been on forn, half of the season we were playing with 1 striker. We have been playing with youth players most the time. Then they say we won't be any better next season. Finally they say we use 'lfc are in transition' as an excuse when according to them, Manchester United have been in transition and they go and win the league? (apparently because some players have left. refresh my memory please. I can only think of berbatov and he never played). Trasition in football means BIG changes. LFC have recently got new owners who succeeded a pair off animals, 3 changes of management and coaching staff since we were last stable. Vast changes in players in and out. That is transition. the same people that think psg bought beckham for quality (not shirt sales) and that he should be in the england squad. (Sarcastic sigh)

It is not debateable at all, we are much much better than last season. Anyone who can't see that needs an education in football.

Why do you care what they say?

MIKEY

29 Mar 2013 18:37:48
If we keep all the players we have now,
and simply spend 60 million on Cavani in the summer,
where will we be next season?
And, How much money do we get for a CL place?

BillyNoBrain?

This was the master plan Billy. but Cavani has decided he doesn't want to play football anymore. instead he plans to become a zookeeper at knowsley safari park. bummer for BR because we had it all planned out like you mate.
DBol

I seriously hope this is sarcastic otherwise you need help.

Lil Red

At least your living up to the name.

Heading for administration I imagine we will be mate lol

MIKEY

Well unfortunately we will still be lacking depth at holding midfielder and still not have a replacement for carra.

After reading br comments after being asked about having scouts at Ajax, its obvious we are in for eriksen. Having said that, being in for him and getting him are two completely different things ha ha fingers crossed.

29 Mar 2013 17:37:38
Hi eds and reds, can I make a formal request to please stop these posts about who you think is coming and going and the total net spent. Most of them look like:

Sell:
Suarez
Gerrard
Agger
Total: 140 trillion pounds

Buy:
Messi
Ronaldo
Cavani
Total: 7 pence

They're unbelievably pointless and waste our time and more importantly yours. let's just let the club take care of this business. Kind regards

29 Mar 2013 21:49:02
Love this!

Lighten up spud. Isn't it fun to hope we are signing certain players?

If any one knows rodgers tell him to please stop buying swansea players

Williams had a good season but he hasn't probed himself enough yet and he's getting on a bit now

Plus its just embarrasing how he keeps going for swansea and ex chelsea players {Ed001's Note - such as Coutinho?}

Probed himself? Sounds proper dodgy that mate.

Williams hasn't what?

'stop buying Swansea players?'

Surely he has only bought Allen from Swansea? Think Williams could do a job for us tbh but we are going to be linked with every centre back on the planet between now and the summer lol

Does that mean Williams shouldn't pull his finger out?

Eds,

You can't deny that BR has bought more senior players from his Chelsea/Swansea days (Allen, Borini, Sturridge) than from all the rest of the world combined (Coutinho, Assaidi). I think he needs to look elsewhere as only Sturridge of the 3 is of sufficient quality to get us to top 4.

US Army Red {Ed002's Note - I notice that you have conveniently forgotten Yesil from Bayer Leverkusen and the loan of Sahin from Real Madrid. Hopeless.}

Ed002, I did not forget anyone, notice that I stated "bought" which negates Sahin and "senior player" which negates Yesil. I understand that you get a lot of abuse but that was not my intention. Just trying to point out that BR should spend more time looking outside players he's already familiar with. Thanks

Sturridge went to Chelsea after Rodgers left, so they have no prior working relationship

The Spurs fans really have set their hearts on eriksen

Im still trying to figure out if he deserves to wear our shirt

Hes actually set his heart on their shirt

Just saw a few quotes from BRAD JONES sayin he rather play 15 games for lFC than play 30 anywhere else well done BRAD that's the comment/desire we need at our CLUB YNWA JONESY class JON96

Lege. er. Top bloke

A few reasons for that; 1. No one would pay him what Liverpool do 2. Most players would be happy not to play too much and get paid bucket loads of cash. RedTurk

29 Mar 2013 18:41:14
I don't think he is going to get 30 games anywhere in top fligh.

29 Mar 2013 21:29:10
You know what RedTurk, every player ain't like Sahin and can't hack not being good enough and scoot off when he realises he ain't going to get past mighty Henderson, Allen and Shelvey. Not to mention not begin able to tackle a fish supper. Some second string players realise their limitations and is say he's genuinely proud of the fact of what he's done at a club like ours, Sahins more pleased he's played with Steven Gerrard oohs err! Pass the hankies.

People need a new pair of glasses if they don't rate Brad Jones. Should be first team keeper for most EPL teams, and a top man.

I'd rather have Guzan or Foster in between the sticks myself

Guzan is one of the worst gk's I've eer seen

Brad Jones is a top class keeper and he's proved it every time he's played for us. He is also a decent and well respected bloke, who in my eyes deserves our total admiration. Well done Brad, we need more like you. YNWA

I read down the page someone calling last season the worst ever or something to that effect. Absolute garbage. 3 trips to wembley, 1 trophy ( who cares how we won it we won it) beating the bitters and breaking there little hearts late on. What will you remember this season for? This is not a dig at Rodgers because I like the guy but what it is is a defence of last season. Short memories some people

What you can't defend is spending 100 million of our rebuilding money on league 1 quality players thus setting us back another 3 to 4 year

That sort of money spent we should expect to be in the top 4

Totally agree we knocked Utd and Everton out of the FSG A Cup Chelsea and City out of the Carling cups, great memories. Dominated every team coming to Anfield without taking our chances. We tailed off, away from home, in the final third of the season. I am a season ticket holder and to this day believe, if Lucas would have stayed fit, we would have finished at least fifth.

I agree. The worst for me is when we first started to miss out on the Champions League places under Rafa. Last Season, and this season, are major improvements.

29 Mar 2013 18:42:00
difference.
the transfer amount.

I think with the outlay spent we as fans were hoping for a high position in the lge i. e champs lge footy r at least be competetive in that regard. cups r good and gr8 days out, we are lfc
5 gold stars

Dalglish lost us the FA cup final with team selection, Jay Spearing Centre Midfield instead of using the team that qualified through the last round with Carroll and Suarez upfront, take your blinkers off

Also IF those chances when we hit the woodwork IF they had gone in we would have hit top 3. But that's in the past, **** the future let's just deal with the present

Oh the irony, gloating about beating everton and refering to that fact to proclaim lfc had a great season, and to top it all you refer to evertonians as bitters!. pink really is the new red

Beating Everton, City, Utd and Chelsea. not gloating just explaining that knocking them teams out of cup competitions were highlights under Kenny, and gave me some get in there moment, at the thought of u Bitters crying in one of your North Wales pubs,

To Mr no name pink irony poster.

Are you sure you're on the correct site with your incessant "pink comments? "

As we are now approaching the end of the season, I thought I'd speculate on who will win the LFC player and young player of the season.

For LFC's player of the year, there is just no looking past Luis Suarez in my opinion. He has been simply unbelievable and should get the EPL player of the year too. An honourable mention goes to Gerrard though, he has been great this year for us.

Now the young player is where it gets interesting. For me, it's only really between Sterling, Wisdom and maybe Coutinho, with some outside candidates.

Sterling (18) has burst onto the scene this year, and showed real promise within the first couple of games, shining as one of our standout performers. Unfortunately, his form declined a bit roughly after his first 10 games - he was no longer skipping past his man and looked an average player in the team.
But I saw real talent in this kid and feel he can kick on from this in the coming seasons. One marker of his progress is that he has gone from playing in the England U17s last season to making his England debut, and is also now a regular starter for the England U21s.

Wisdom (19) has played 11 times for the senior side this season, and has looked impressive in every game. In my opinion, he should have played more games this season. Wisdom too has stepped up the England rankings, and is also now a U21s regular. I think he definitely part of the future of our back line.

Coutinho (20) has had a large impact since signing from Inter in January. He's played 5 games; scoring 2 and assisting 2. He looks to have wonderful vision and flair. If he keeps this up for the remaining 8 games, he has a real chance.

The others who I think could be in with a shout are Henderson (22), Mclaughlin (18) and Teixeira (20).
With the younger 2, I have doubts they will get it due to no impact on the first team, although they have both been outstanding for the youth teams.

Thoughts?

I forgot to post my name.

B101

Suarez and Henderson for me.

The real AG

Agreed on the player of the year, and for the young player for me it's Wisdom, was fantastic and considering he is only 19 he played so solidly and read the game well, going to be a rock in our defence in the years to come,

Coutinho has been insanely impressive so far but has only half a season to strut his stuff and plays a area of the pitch I feel he has more support if he makes a mistake. Sterling is great but feel like he will need another season to be in real contention but has massive raw ability and next season could be a massive one for the lad.

Ska-oop

Suarez and Wisdom for me.
DT

I think the 4 disagree's verify that a lot of people on here don't really watch the games/don't watch them properly.

What parts of my post were there to disagree with? Personally I think that's a fair assessment of how things have gone.

But yeah, I forgot to put in who I thought would get the young player of the year - Wisdom.

B101

Let's be blunt here.

Sterling:Displayed potential, still has no final ball but overall a good prospect.

Wisdom: Defended ok, couldn't pass more then 4 yards without giving away the ball, seems braindead on the ball and kept getting caught too far inside.

Coutinho: Been here for what 6 games? To even consider him is ridiculous.

Henderson is my choice, consistent this year. Worked hard to win a place back and more importantly has displayed an end product.

To be even more to the point, what one of these players gets into the first team squad regularly? Coutinho and Henderson. The rest should not even be considered.

Thats actually a great headache to have. At this moment I think sterling should get it, he was playing to a high standard up until mid december /january when he clearly needed a rest. Hendo has looked much better to the delight of us who stuck by him. I think his performances in the last few games could steal it for him. Wisdom has played a fair share of first team football and only looked out of his depth once, against everton, however he will look really good next season. Shelvey looked brilliant up until halsey's howler, then he has declined. Suso probobly isn't in contention but will be a fine player in yers to come. All in all I think it is between sterling and hendo.

coady managed to breaks hendo's record. he's sure have a good control on the ball

He got 4 coutinho got 60 odd

What I found interesting is that the top 6 or 7 on that list are all younger players, hardly any firsts!

I can't believe that Peter Gulacsi beat Luis Suarez!

If football was played with tennis balls we'd be top of the league

29 Mar 2013 16:37:46
Erikson etc will we move quick or speculate, wait and lose as per? On his ilk (not just him to thickos) in summer?!

29 Mar 2013 15:55:23
Some really personic fans on here today. Sell Suarez for this. sell Suarez for that. Please just shut up.
The only way the club will sell Suarez is if he really pushes for a move and on top of that we as a club recieve a bid worthy of his calibre (say 45 million pounds to the very least).
And regarding the players to be brought in, feeling really happy as for the 1st time in years we are looking at quite a few Quality players.
Really think if we can just get Erickson, Wanyama and Dede that is a successful window then and there anyone else is a bonus.

Wake up

Alonso, Dede and Ericsson in the summer would do it for me.
YNWA

29 Mar 2013 15:04:01
Keep Suarez and continue to build around him'
Thats the way progress and challenge not constant rebuilding"

I think that would be ideal, but two issues there are a) does Suarez want to stay and b) could we afford to build around him if he does? No idea on a) but for b) I suspect we wouldn't get much more in terms of attacking talent in the summer if he does stay outside of maybe a Weimann/Ince type.

Spot on Big Al.

Nicky D

29 Mar 2013 18:43:57
suarez. or any top footballer will stay with us. IF we can challenge for titles or glories.
CL place is the main problem for us.
Fans can wait for 23 more years.
Bu players can play only 5-10 decent year.

Jayus big al first you want to sell now you want to keep lol

only taken the pee mate I know what ya mean.

29 Mar 2013 15:01:48
Would like to see
in: CB - preferably not Williams as everytime I watch him play he plays poorly, not a very physical presence at the back
GK - would like to see a fresh man between the sticks, Pepe's been a fantastic servant for the club but for 2 years now he's been riddled with mistakes and only a handful of games could you say he deserves a look in for MOTM.
Holding Midfielder - after losing Mascherano and Xabi we've lost a ball winning presence in midfield, Lucas has really shone, before and after his injuries but if he gets another injury, I certainly don't want to see Allen as a ball-winner, he doesn't have the strength or guts to be able to win the ball back as well as Masch or Xabi used to; would love to see Alonso back or maybe Javi Garcia? good in the air against teams like stoke, west ham (rugby teams) but still good on the floor and a strong player too.

would not want to see borini go, works hard and needs a huge confidence boost as he was playing so well before he got his first injury - would be a good squad player and only young
as a winger, naturally out-and-out Sanchez or possibly even Sinclair (city)? not made the cut due to the billion-pound quality needed in the side and would add to the pace we've needed for years, played under rodgers, knows the system well
also, would kill me if suarez went as he fits into the team style and is world class, has a cutting edge that big teams have (van persie, aguero, bale, messi, ronaldo, etc) - with a bit more investment over the summer and quality signings there is no reason why he would not stay and why we could not be a big challenger for top 4.

Williams has played outstanding this season, not saying I'd want him. But to say he's been poor is ridiculous.

He's not poor but he's not good either, plus he comes across as a right person. Please no Williams!

29 Mar 2013 14:04:11
What I want to happen this summer is sell Suarez should we be offered a huge transfer fee, say 35 million and over.
I don't think 50 million is ever going to happen but if it did how can you say no. Please don't say without him we are a mid table team!
Have a look at the table we are nearly 30 points behind united and that's with Suarez.
We have gone weak and baggy in defence this season. We are not scoring enough goals to make up for the shoddy defending.
If we invest in a quality defender or two we will be getting more points for or goal tally.
If Carroll can not be sold let's give the poor boy a break. Play him with sturridge up front and we will worry many a defence. We should be given a transfer kitty of some description that will need adding to with proceeds of sales.
Sadly people are not going to be camping out side Anfield in order to get at our dead wood.
Only Suarez will generate any real money and our team needs more then one decent player.
As we all know we are only getting champions league teams cast offs now so we won't be signing any big names on their way up, maybe a decent player here and there we can afford but we need enough funds to buy maybe 4 half decent players which means Suarez has to go. Sadly

So just to clarify you're saying sell one of the best players in the world and put our faith in Andy Carroll? I'll let everyone else comment on that.
DT

Hahah!

JFT 96

He never said rely on Andy Carroll he made a decent comment about if no offers are made to play him with Sturridge.
What would you prefer him not too be played and become worthless or maybe get some game time and become useful.

Also he mentions using the suarez funds for maybe another striker look at United who have four decent forwards not four worldclass but decent forwards.

If Suarez goes which he will one day this is a good idea so pipedown DT you tool and stop abusing people because you obviously knw jack rubbish about fooking sports.

Sick of everything anyone ever says just being blasted by dribblers with no scooby.

Kopping a feel

To be honest I have to agree if it was between keeping Suarez and not having anything to invest or using the ridiculous money we'd get for him to build a quality squad I'd go for the latter, anyone who thinks we wouldn't finish higher that way is deluded - keeping him isn't the be all and end all. I question our spending power this summer if we keep him.

Agree with you a bit as I think everyone's opinions are always valid, but I do think Rooney and Van Persie are both pretty much 'world class' and Hernandez isn't too far off that either (for what he does as a poacher anyway).

As a United fan I am not a huge fan of Suarez's antics but as a player he is terrifying, I've seen few better this last 2 years. I really can't see any sense in selling your best player unless it is for a phenomenal amount of money - £50M+ or unless he engineers the move, like Ronaldo did. You're second highest scorers this year, strengthen your defence and you'll be challenging. Selling your star forward would be a bad move.

AJH

Op isn't a red!

Kopping a feel, you're telling DT to pipe down because he knows nothing but yet you say utd have no world class forwards, just decent forwards?! So RVP and Rooney aren't world class? I think you are the one that is deluded so perhaps consider what you say before abusing others.

Biggy Ballz

What we are looking at is life after Suarez.

Stop talking so much sense, AJH. You're ruining my perceptions of United fans. ;-)

Don't have a strop Kop. First of all OP said we should Suarez for 35million which is ridiculous as he is one of the best players in the world in his position - perhaps the pair of you should look at the figures being quoted for Neymar, Falcao and Cavani. Second, how can a team 30 points behind the leaders look to sell its most effective player if they are serious about trying to compete. Third, it's "prefer him not to be played" rather than "too be played, " and fourth United have no world class forwards - I think you just mugged yourself off nicely, how's that for Kopping a Feel?
DT

I think history dictates what happens when you sell your best players, just look at Arsenal.

Also, look what happened when we dismantled the team under Rafa that consisted of Mach, Alonso, Arbeloa and Torres ( obviously we know what has happened to the latter). Ok, Alonso leaving had a lot to do with Rafa but the principle is the same. That was a team that pushed United all the way in the league and had we not drawn so many games, would have clinched the title. The team fell apart and has not recovered since in my opinion. Yes, I see improvements under BR but we're still a way off competing for the top spot.

I feel it's so important we keep Suarez and build a team around him. He's not just a fantastic player, he also has a great work ethic both during matches and also in training. Something that our youngsters coming through can hopefully learn from.

Nicky D

You forgot to take you medication.
DT

What is it with you lot that makes you think that your owners will re-invest all proceeds from transfer sales (plus a bit)?
It is quite obvious they are putting the squeeze on transfer dealings after your recent silly spending, so you will be lucky to see a budget any bigger than your neighbours.

Ive seen worse estimates on players leaving. Not so sure about the £20 million from the owners this Summer tho.

The Irish Rover

Spearing and Borini are going nowhere, and as has been pointed out we won't get 100% from sales and the owners will stump up very little this summer and who can blame them

That many new players at once won't work. Like it or not, it's a step by step process - 3, max 4 players a year. Any more and they'll never get settled.

AJH

So an entirely new team, yeah that's the way forward. Div

What I want to happen in Summer -
sell - Skrtel Coates Downing Borini Carroll
Buy - Dede Eriksen Sanchez

KEEP SUAREZ!

What I think will happen in Summer -

Struggle to sell Carroll and end up giving him away for next to nothing

Hope it's a good summer reds. Can't wait to see the back of this season it's been unbearable at times

Benteke is overrated and this season is nothing compared to the pain of last season. Big steps forward, the future is bright!

Benteke won't go to Chelsea, because Jose mourhino will go back in the summer and he will won't Lukaka back from WBA loan as he look like the drog in his style of play

No serious team will ever sell their top star to buy another top star!
Sell Suarez to buy 3 others?? Are some fellow fans out of their minds? Without Suarez we will be a middle of the table team, let's not delude ourselves. Our bench, in comparison, is very light, we have no plan B and our defence (for some reason) is very very nervous and always liable to let one in.
So please everyone, let's not even entertain the idea of Suarez leaving because with Gerrard coming to end of his legendary career, there would be no one else and LFC channel would (as much as I hate to say it) really be ' The History Channel'. So let's be heard, no selling of our top stars. NO, NO, NO!

Did Utd not sell Ronaldo? Still winning leagues tho!

The Irish Rover

29 Mar 2013 14:36:46
What if Suarez says he wants to join a club in the Champions League, would you still be moaning about why we shouldn't sell tO the highest bidder?

Are we not mid table at this moment even with Suarez? Why don't you allow the people in charge do what they think is best for our club? And if you don't like it, u can get a coaching badge, get a team to the top flight and then make a come and get me plea to manage LFC.

Much as we are passionate about this cub, we need to allow those in charge to do what they think is best for LFC.

I have no doubt that our new scouting network would have settled to work by now and you can see from what we're being linked with, which is an improvement on the Allens and Borinis that were signerd earlier.

As other poster have been saying, we need to be patient. For instance, I was frustrated with Dalglish initially but when we let him go and still recruited poorer players, I began to wonder that things might have been a bit different if he had stayed on, considering that we were after Diame, Sissoko, Martinez, Belhanda and Soldado before he left. I think the above listed players are better and cheaper than what we eventually signed when Rodgers arrived for over 60m.

Now Rodgers has had time to assess our squad and I think he has a better appreciaion of the enormity of what needs to be done.

Much as I'm frustrated with what has happened so far, I think its best to allow him fix our squad as he deems fit so we don't have to start all over again. If it means selling Suarez and replacing him with 3 decent players, then so be it.

Whatever happens, I believe we will come out stronger in the end.

29 Mar 2013 14:48:19
What a crap analogy, as per usual coming from Rover slightly negative, slightly provocative BS.
Not negative enough to look like your a doom monger but sly, snide posts having underhand jabs.
You make em out so you can say 'l told you so' if it goes tits up or the same if we get anywhere near our perch once more. At least the optimistic ones and the doom mongers have passion. You seem like a very shallow vessel my friend.
JohnBoy

Rober, Ronaldo wanted to go, we didn't really have much choice. Payers hold all the cards, all the clubs can do is get the best price for them.

AJH

Ah Johnboy, my very own stalker!

I say it as I see it. Did Utd sell Ronaldo? Are they winning leagues still? So even the best teams sell their top stars and are still serious about winning. Of course i'm right. You will need to try harder Johnboy, very poor.

The Irish Rover

Ajh
I would assume that Suarez might want to leave as well. I can't see Liverpool pushing him out the door. The point being that getting rid of Ronaldo didn't stop Utd as the OP was suggesting that top teams can't be serious title contenders while selling big players. Its not a one man game.

The Irish Rover

29 Mar 2013 21:45:14
Was they winning the league before Ronaldo came, not a great deal different happened in the seasons before, during and after he left. So I'm afraid your comparison is weak as a Stewart Downing tackle. If I was going to stalk someone on this site I'd make sure it was one of the main contributors like Big Al, Mikey, Fowlerisgod, Chris in Tamworth or even Ed002. You know folks who have a bit of clout to go with their passion, not a two pumps and a squirt merchant like yourself, don't be offended I just tell it how it is my friend.

JohnBoy

", not a great deal different happened in the seasons before, during and after he left"

So you agree i'm right then? Selling Ronaldo had no effect on Utd winning leagues?

Listen, in future. Read the original post slowly before making a nob out of yourself. Or you could just hit the agree button after my posts.

Goodnight Johnboy!

clearly a spurs fan who believes that he is desperate to join Spurs.
Believe me Eriksen is not desperate to join spurs.
He ahas a lot of love for Liverpool.
Also Overmars will be desperate not to send him to Spurs with his Arsenal links

Well that's a laughable post mate! Need to do your homework!

Whoever wrote "that's a laughable post" take a look at yourself. The post is actually true. Get a grip mate

Seems a lot of people disagree with you. shame that

we all want to finish in ucl but seems unlikely.
so would u like to play in el or miss out on distractions of europe.
thoughts?

Europa has really helped some of the young players become first teamers. It would be good to get it again.

Champions League or nothing for me. DBol

Without the Europa League we'll have no budget

just a thought:
why didn't players like ronaldinho, ronaldo, kaka, rivaldo, roberto carlos etc and many other brazilians and argentinians never played for epl (apparently best league in the world).
was it different playing style, pace of the game or money matters?
yet they are considered 'the best' in the game by many and players from epl like gerrard, lampard, rooney, shearer, fowler, cantona, terry, rvp, suarez, giggs etc etc do not get a deserved mention?
LIVERBIRD

10 years ago la liga and Seria A were the best leagues in the world. Now it's the EPL. Simples

I do honestly think there's a FIFA bias against british clubs, due to the fact the British FA's need to be consulted on rule changes.

But imagine for a moment how many brilliant players other leagues have had who don't get a mention either.

Remember robinho? They get found out in the PL I would love Neymar to come here so we can all laugh at him being the new shaun wright phillips

Here's a proposition:

We sell Saurez for 40mil + Alonso and buy Erickson + Sanchez?

in effect we trade Saurez for 3 quality player?

Would you take it?

I would

Here's another thought.

Have you considered what league position the club would be in without Suarez?

Frightening, isn't it?

DaveyBootle

Alonso - past his best won't stand up to pace of premiership week in week out.
Erickson - untested outside of Holland
Sanchez- massively out of form.

Compared to one of the top 5 players in the world who is settled in Premiership and on fire.

Total non-starter for me. Could be buying 3 flops for one superstar.

Serge N'Gien.

Could Alonso, Eriksen and Sanchez facilitate 30+ goals a season? Not sure tbh. I'd rather keep our Luis considering he's a world beater and build an attack around him. We've already seen the integration of Sturridge and Coutinho around him. He's a step above almost every player and we should hold onto that, or at the worst drive the highest price possible for him and buy Jackson Martinez.

JFT 96

JP

I wouldn't, probably the third best player in the world leave for that madness, if he goes we should dig our damn heels in and do what every other club does when selling a star. overprice and overprice big time,
but I would prefer to hold on to him.

YNWA Suarez

Is this a joke? How about we sell Downing Allen Shelvey Borini and Skrtel before selling one of the best players in the world for a pathetic 40million and a slow old Alonso years past his best with no sell on fee and massive wages. DBol

We're mid table with Suarez. While he has been our best player the squad needs to improve, and that can only happen through selling him. I will happily guarantee all fans that if we sell Suarez and reinvest in three quality players we'll finish higher up the table next season.

29 Mar 2013 11:36:18
the numbers in our squad are ok the quality is not. BR does not want to add to the squad he wants to replace the players that don't fit his style and just come short quality wise. carra retire skrtl/quates not good enough. henderson not his type. assaidi a gamble that did not work. I guess 2 defenders 1 midfielder and a winger will be brought in summer. in my eyes we are a few class players behind the top 4, if we get quality in I see no team we should fear. we are on the up

29 Mar 2013 11:30:19
Can't believe some our supposedly all knowledgable fans are so shallow thaat they can't see the accumulative signs of improvement from last year, and all they bang on about is how kenny got us to two finals. Its ignorance of the highest level.

There are so, soo many signs of improvement yet all of ourf fans believe we should be winning the league, the only thing that is wrong with us is consistency.

We are going in the right direction and trust me, I am 80% sure we will get champions league next eason, given we sign the right players come suummertime.

Wake up and smell the coffee, cutt the bring rafa back nonsense and get on with supporting the team, win, lose or draw. I certainly do.

I think the signs of improvement are subjective really, it just depends if your a glass half full guy or not.

Spot on

Totally agree, ok we've lost some silly games and thrown away points when we've been in a commanding position, but there are clearly signs we are improving.

BR is going about it in the right way too, our biggest problem last year was creating good chances and putting them away, he's addressed this by signing 2 strikers (Sturridge and Borini, ok Borini hasn't had the impact hoped but he's not had much luck in terms of injuries) and he's signed a tricky little no10 which we've been crying out for for years in Coutinho. He's managed to get Downing and Henderson to up their games and Gerrard looks a completely different player to last season.

Defensively he's had a bit of bad luck with Lucas being out for as long as he was and Allen seems to be struggling to find his form and rhythm, but let's not forget it's his first season in a new team that are trying to learn a new system and style of play. Enrique has had niggling injuries which haven't helped and Skrtel has gone from being a great defender last season to looking like a liability this season. Add to that Reina's loss of form and confidence.

In my opinion a lot of the defensive problems this season have come from losing Steve Clarke, who undoubtedly had a massive effect on shoring up our defence last season.

With things looking good going forward I'm certain this Summer will see BR address our defensive frailties, with his hand definitely Bering forced by the retirement of Carra. Personally I would like us to go out and sign only one quality experienced CB to replace Carra. I would keep Skrtel as like we saw last season there is a quality CB in there we just need to bring it back out of him. Send Coates out on loan for the season to gain experience and confidence as again he clearly is a talented CB as was seen in the Copa America before we signed him. Hopefully next season we can keep Kelly fit and he and Wilsdom can step into their correct positions and provide cover for Agger, new CB and Skrtel.

The biggest problem we will have will be appeasing the fans. If we sign Ashley Williams we have to get behind him and support him not slag him off before he's even played for us.

For me progress is clearly being made the only thing that isn't progressing is the narrow minded mentality of so called 'fans' who still think we are good enough to win the League and should be signing Neymar, Cavani, Reus, Falcao, Lewandovski et al.

It's deluded Kenny fans who can't see that last season was - completely 100% undoubtedly - the worst season to be a Liverpool fan since the turn of the century. BR has taken us forwards leaps and bounds, the only problems are consistency and the terrible fixtures we had in the first five games of the season. Some people are just blind to how good the football has been this year because they can't let go.

Worse season to be a Liverpool fan? Two finals doesn't seem bad to me mate, perhaps you'd be happier under benitez where we got top four constantly.

I'm happy with the direction of the club, but to suggest last season was a failure is ridiculous

If you can see improvement then you don't know football. We are where we are. No further than the last couple of seasons.

Was just wondering if anyone has an update on the goalkeeping front? As I've seen us linked with Mignolet, Ochoa and Rui Patrcio in the last few days.

Marc Overmars the director of Ajax has confirmed in the Dutch press that Liverpool are defiantly after Christian Eriksen.

He has said there has been long interest in him with Liverpool scouts regularly watching Eriksen of the past couple of seasons, and that they are very keen in him.

The problem is though eriksen wants to go to spurs! He has set his heart on the move!

Why the hell would Eriksen go to Spurs when they have an already over-inflated midfield? He won't come to LFC, I can see him going somewhere like PSG or Juve that can offer him a huge package and the chance to play CL football. He would be an incredible signing though, he's an outstanding player.

JFT 96

And you can see why! Kids all over the world surely go to sleep at night dreaming of playing at the famed White Hart Lane, with the Tottenham cockerel on their chest, following in the footsteps of the legendary Ozzy Ardiles!

A, because he's a spurs fan! B, he they suit his style the best! C, he was close to joining them in jan! D, vertonghen has mentioned that he is desperate to join spurs!

'A, because he's a spurs fan! B, he they suit his style the best! C, he was close to joining them in jan! D, vertonghen has mentioned that he is desperate to join spurs!'

Suit his style the best, you mean being second string to Dembele? Stop being so jaded. Just because Vertonghen mentioned Spurs it doesn't mean he'll join. I'm sure Suarez would have mentioned Liverpool to Cavani, doesn't mean it'll sway his career. Get a grip. Either way if he joins your team I'll enjoy witnessing your defeats, if there's one team who are too cocky it's Spurs and their arrogant fans.

JFT 96

JP

Jp your being an person. again, they would be playing in different positions lol look every window you lot embarrass yourselves with rediculous rumours! You are a laughing stock dear boy. its been rumoured for the past three moths about spurs and eriksen he has basically as near as dame it and said he's joining! You hear it in a mickey mouse paper about someone saying about eriksen and you lot are over it like a rash! Is there nothing else to do in Liverpool? There is NO quote from overmars btw

Just because a player says he wants to go somewhere it doesn't mean it'll happen, and in no way did I ever say he'd move to Liverpool, in fact if you read my other posts you'd see I actually said he'd move to a CL side that would offer him a better package. Once again your trolling is nullified by the fact you're too pig ignorant to read anything other than responses to your boring posts.

JFT 96

JP

And where did I say that you had said Liverpool? I quoted quite correctly that the wind blows up a players name and your on it like a rash! Seriously! Cavani? lol people actually think you stand a chance of getting him? lol a deal with eriksen and spurs was due to happen in jan, it didn't materialize but it will in the summer, you try to twist peoples words! But alas to no avail, in a latter post you requested to have whatever someone was smoking! Well when you've finished pass the bag over to me please!

Eds
If we sign eriksen would he play where Suarez plays and Suarez up top or would he be put on the bench to start with or play out wide {Ed002's Note - I haven't decided yet.}

Ed02 is keeping his cards close to his chest, but it is an open secret that Eriksen will be his number 10 with Suarez right, Coutinho left and Sturridge down the middle.
DT {Ed002's Note - Where will Cavani play then?}

29 Mar 2013 11:51:57
We can't afford Cavani, Silly Ed ;)

Eriksen wants to go to spurs though!

Cavani will start on the bench but will be a handy 'plan B'

That's the best plan B ever.

It's a shame we aren't showing recent interest in Honda, he can play the wide role Brendan was after in January and can play along the midfield, but looks like he could be of to Everton if he comes to the BPL.
I don't think we should buy two CBs this summer, Kelly should be given a chance just one needed in my opinion and we are perusing with de vrij who looks tidy, I don't see any hope in Dede other clubs are in a far better position to get him. On GK front I'm a fan of Ochoa he looks great would be happy if he came in (ofcourse Reina could still stay) but I think the most sensible league to acquire a GK from is the bundesliga it has the best pedigree of GKs in Europe and Kevin Trapp could be very shrewd bussines. Onwards and upwards from here I think.

29 Mar 2013 09:45:58
I've heard we are targeting 3 players for the summer if we have no unexpected outs eg reina skrtel. A CB AM and a wide attacker. I think the AM is the young Danish kid from Ajax and apparently Rodgers thinks the world of him. For RW it will be probably be young ince but I don't think he is overly interested as he wants guaranteed first team football. I'd love to see Ben arfa bought which really wouldn't surprise me as the only team I believe will want Carroll are Newcastle. Rodgers loves Ben arfa too and rightly so as when fit he's probably the second best ball carrier in the world after bale. For CB I suspect we will look to Kelly and wisdom with McLaughlin promoted to RB but if skrtel leaves I think we will go for Williams but I can't see us paying the fee that they would be looking for. If skrtel stays I suspect de vji to sign. Rodgers will let most squad players to move on and continue to give the kids a go.

He should promote Stephen Sama as an extra CB

Second best ball carrier after Bale? Come on mate.

Has anyone read the article in the Telegraph this morning regarding out Sports psychiatrist Steve Peters?

Here's a clip form the article :

"The sports psychiatrist who has been employed by Liverpool to replicate the methods which have played a huge part in British Cycling's Olympic success has urged the club to make a Premier League title or top-four finish an aspiration rather than a concrete goal. "

What concerns me most is the headline :

'"PRESSURE OF TOP-FOUR TARGET TOO MUCH FOR LIVERPOOL"says club's psychiatrist Steve Peters

Would Shanks and Paisley have set this tone? I doubt it very much

As much as I hate Man United, Fergie has installed a winning mentality to his team not an aspiration mentality!

We need a club of winners and starts from the top right the way down the the grass roots of the acadamy. Reading this does not fill me with confidence, no wonder we collpse against the likes of Villa, WBA etc.

Nicky D

Lmao quick grab the oxygen masks, the pinks can't handle the altitude at the top and get a nose bleed if they try and go any higher than 6th. lol

Mate he's the expert! Let him do his job as he must be very good at it.

I've been watching Liverpool for nearly 30 years and I've never come across this kind of statement - Top four too much pressure for Liverpool! Rubbish

Nicky D

The sports psychiatrist who has been employed by Liverpool to replicate the methods which have played a huge part in British Cycling's Olympic success.
"He's a really a Ptrickcyclist;-)"

The thought that I got from this article was to not focus on a position to end up in, because that is out of your control. Instead, the players should focus on increasing the points tally each year, as that solely depends on how Liverpool performs.

Actually I quite like the idea of Ashley Williams joining us. Here's why.

1. He has proven to be a consistent defender for 2 seasons in the PL already so isn't a flash in the pan.
2. He played in the lower leagues and progressed up together with Swansea so he's not going to be battered into submission by the likes of Oldham.
3. Young enough and hungry enough.
4. Knows BR's system.

Granted he isn't a Baresi but neithet is Carra. But he puts his body between the ball and the goal when it matters, just like Carra. And that's what we will need when Carra retires next season.

If you disagree, please elaborate. :)

Singapore Red

Well maybe I disagree on the fact that Liverpool hasn't shown any interest in Ashley Williams. i'm positive the Ed's have stated previously that there is no known interest. Just because a few newspapers have linked him doesn't make it fact. I am more inclined myself to believe what the ED's state than what newspapers do. {Ed002's Note - I haven't checked for a couple of weeks but as of Friday March 15, Liverpool had made no approach to Swansea regarding Ashley Williams.}

Didnt he say he hates suarez?

What like Liverpool hadnt made any approach for Suarez?

{Ed002's Note - I cut the rest of your post Liam. Why don't you sign your posts anymore - then everyone will know we are dealing with the person who promised to have the site shut down - who has "friends" with superpowers. Other posters told you before you were not welcome yet you return constantly abusing me. You told us you would go away - seemed you lied about that. Sure, I was wrong about Suarez joining Liverpool two and a half years ago. I admitted it at the time but you have this relentless need to abuse me because of it. I am not going to do what you want and shut the page down so you can feed your schadenfreude at the benefit of the decent Liverpool supporters - and that is because other posters have constantly supported the Editors in respect of dealing with trash like you. And you have zero knowledge of me and what I do for a living.}

Well said Ed002. Anyone who even attempts to be abusive to any of our Eds should be filtered out so that you don't even have to read the trash from the persons.

Keep rising above it ED you are our hero!

ps Happy Easter to all the Eds too!

Tel 1949 {Ed002's Note - Sadly it is not possible to filter out some of the trash Tel. We had given Liam the benefit of doubt originally because we thought he had mental health problems, as he repeatedly told us about these friends he had who were going to shut the site down unless we allowed him to post a number of clearly delusional writings. As time has gone by it turns out we were wrong, and he is just an obnoxious DF. The source of the problem was his father not having any Kleenex available on that fateful night. A lesson to us all.}

Many of us will always support the Eds because we value the great job that all of them do. We won't tolerate abuse of the Eds and anyone who does is not welcome here. Nice one exposing this person Ed; his threats are pathetic please keep on doing what you do so well Eds.

Williams is 28 - too old

Liam
You have to let the balloon go son! Carrying all that nastiness can't be good for your health. Trust me, you will feel better for it.

The Irish Rover

To Liam and all the other moronic posters who think it's ok to abuse our eds, I don't think you realize just how pathetic you sound.
All eds on this site do a great job and have the full backing of 99% of fans on this site because of it, yes sometimes they get things wrong but there human (unlike yourselves).
So next time you think about posting an abusive message to our eds, stop, count to ten (if you can) and consider how much of a plank your going to look infront of a lot of people

1. No improvement on current defenders
2. Lacks quality
3. Too old
4. He's an obnoxious runt.

not a rumour by any means guys, just an opinion on the summer. To be honest I for one don't believe Suarez will leave this summer, I think we will get one more season before he heads elsewhere (thats if we don't qualify for CL next season). However, if he where to leave for 40+mill, the players i'd like to see brought in (with the rest of our transfer budget) would include atleast a few of dede, williams, wanyama, eriksen and either lewandowski or jovetic. Granted this might cost close to 60mill, however if suarez left, we would be loaded for this summer. Now. carry on and type! Lemon

Right he won't go for £40 plus! And if he does go only williams out of that list will come!

I reckon eriksen will targeting in the summer anyway.

Ed, is there a confirmed date for when the new kits for next season will be revealed?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware. I would guess it might be in early May near the end of the season.}
