Sky=Sigi Spurs player early next week.Negotiated whilst manager stuff not confirmed.Again Huge LFC links,come to nothing.Us'negative'posters who read'The Mail'right again!-ANOTHER MISS!! Obviously another case of last year,wanted Parker,got Adam etc etc.We get say- 4th/5th option on our lists.We get them unopposed a lot of time,cos their leftovers after everyones secured OUR top targets cos we take an age to tie up deals.This aint reaction to summer so far,its gone on for years.Everyone remember the Houllier and Ronaldo fail-rumour? And we where in a more competative position them days.

You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned Ronlado RUMOUR we don't know our targets were just guessing then moaning when the don't come. Get a grip heard about the rumour of us wanting Maradonna he didn't come what a disgrace we are.

Mike

Why dont you grow a pair and stop moaning ?
The papers are just making up stories, give Rogers time....he will sort us

Tel 1949

The papers making up stories, brendan Rodgers "I want to bring gylfi to liverpool but I won't steal him from Swansea" direct quote. Idiots

What like you did Tel when you went off pages sulking last season-Mr.Give,cant take

Hi eds, great site by the way. Just seeing that lucio has left inter by mutual consent, although 34 still a class act, would he be worth a try, no fee needed

29 Jun 2012 23:08:34
I am a Liverpool fan go all the games, I buy the clobber from the Liverpool shop for me and my kids support the club financially as best I possibly can but what that last post said we're skint I dont' care just look over the park they've bought some cracking players for f**k all and look where they finished and what do they sell their players for only a massive profit, we should only be selling if a player wants to go like Torres just look at our record of selling top class players dating back to mccmanaman free Owen 10m ( I know we got the best out of him) alonso was well worth more than 30m same with mascarano anyway I'll stop moaning now lol just give time to manager let him look at squad in training let him make the decisions he needs on players. Great site keep up good work I have one question for each one of the eds who do you think will most likely to sign for lfc?

Thanks toad

Lol, you wasted your money on lfc in a recession

Yes lad I do because I can if lfc would been taken over by the fans I'd of found a way of getting together the money needed to buy shares because I love my club!!

Hi eds and everybody now av been hearing alot of talk about ramirez coming not coming and then I just read the player profile on this fabulous player and the eds said that alot of us bidding on him will depend on us selling suarez now I dont no if that means we cant before him or we need to raise funds but mistake me if an wrong but dint we get 12 million in january from the sale me meireles now if you put that 12 million to the 8 that we were gonna spend on sig wont we them av 20 million to spend on a class player like ramirez other than the average player like sig

29 Jun 2012 23:02:39
Hi eds hoping you can confirm that the mark Davies story published in the mirror is rubbish

Al

Its recycled I think from when Rodgers tried to take him to Swansea before he moved to Bolton.

29 Jun 2012 22:59:57
Hi Eds/Macca

I'm a regularly reader of the site and obviously I've kept up to date with various players were linked with etc...

But my question is: Who are we really interested in and are actively negotiating for or is it still too early. Surely at this stage the club are negotiating for their targets even if they don't sign for a couple more weeks?

29 Jun 2012 22:42:37
The mirror are reporting that we could move for Mark Davies from Bolton. Do we have a interest eds?

Cheers

Everyone say about Gaston Ramirez. there is another good player in Bolognia Denish. I think he is argentine and a good player.

hhhh

Denis is a journeyman at best, his best days seemed to lie in Udine but they were mediocre days at that...

"I said that when I took over that I would settle for a drop of Bell's once a month, a big bottle at the end of the season and a ride round the city in an open top bus!"

Pure class. Two words that sum up Bob Paisley superbly.

it would be great if torres scored the winner in the final, i know we are supposed to be small minded and hate him but it's great to see a player who gave us so many happy memories rolling back the years and finding his peak form once again

I sort of agree - but he's hardly played in the Euro's, although he did score 2 against the worst team in the tournament.

He wont get near the pitch, spain will play 4-6-0 as usual

With your description I'd say Alonso.

Eds...any opinion on Prandelli?...what a coach. Tactical genius he is. I recall that night in Florence when he was managing Fiorentina. Hope BR turns out a genius like Prandelli. He needs to be the way things are panning out. With Suarez seemingly heading for the exit door and no real replacement in sight, we'll be struggling in mid-table obscurity. Ed...I'll ask the all-important question...how do you rate our chances of keeping Suarez? {Ed022's Note - I refuse to go into the Suarez affair, as I have received (as have other Eds) so much abuse over it tonight, to the point it's no longer amusing. Prandelli looks like he has a lot of potential managerial wise, although I don't know enough about him.}

29 Jun 2012 21:48:32
hey eds whats going on with the sigurdsson deal, do you think its likely he will join spurs?

thanks :) {Ed022's Note - Yes.}

You eds said sig will be lfc player, hi is on holiday so do we need to rush, that's what you eds said, {Ed001's Note - no we never, I certainly said no such thing. Please don't lie.}

It's quite funny how everyone on this site blames the eds for players not signing. {Ed003's Note - good point! }

Thats a great point! Eds your negotiating skills arent up to it!!! Come on we're all expecting Cavani and Ken Aguero, now make it happen eds!
KiwiRed {Ed005's Note - I hope it does happen otherwise it will be the eds fault and idiots will post on their mobiles saying we don't have a clue, and messed up the deal because we were too busy editing.}

Lol I really feel sorry for you eds, and I don't even understand how it is possible to blame you guys for anything! All you do is give us valuable info and have a bit of banter with us. I agree with some other posters, it needs to be mandatory to sign up and post a name so you can block some of these idiots or at the very least they can't hide behind anonymity and we can show them to be the fools they are!

Hi eds great work ya do on this site.
Just one quick question do use see sterling having a good bit game time this season i hope so. Genuinely believe he could be a. Star given the chance. Thanks for any comments
Kopidol {Ed022's Note - Yes I do.}

I do aswell, certainly in the cups.

Yes and Suso.

The amount of people who do nothing but moan on this site is unbelievable. Stop crying, whining, moaning and complaining and get behind the team. We didn't sign Sigurdsson because we didn't match Hoffenheim's asking price, he didn't choose Spurs, we were never in for Traore, Hazard, Giround and the likes so can somebody please tell me who we have missed out on? Oh I forgot Diame lol, get real. The transfer window hasn't even opened yet, so have some patience. Whilst Ed001 is about, how would you feel about Suarez leaving and how much would you want for him mate? Who would you want us to replace him with? Cheers.
JFT96
Smithy {Ed001's Note - I wouldn't care if Suarez stayed or left, yes he is a great player, but he is on the sidelines far too often. I would take anything over 30m for him, personally, and buy Soldado to replace him.}

Soldado's signed a new contract though ed, but I agree I'd take 35+ for him and buy a decent replacement.
KiwiRed {Ed001's Note - it was just a suggestion.}

He is on the sidelines far too often?? What the 8 games he was banned that was clearly an isolated episdode??

What are you on about? Bar his suspension he has ratio of games played is the same as any other player.

What a silly comment. Dont know what peoples obsession is with Suarez leaving...he is not going anywhere, its so stupid we are even discussing it. We are not villa or everton where we need to be worred about our best players leaving.

Suarez leaving is not even a conversation so bulid a bridge and get over it.

52 lfc games in 16months despite the 9 game ban, he's hardly darren anderton?!

Suarez missed 8 games! actually 9 when you count the league game that against blackburn I think when most starting line up were rested.

still can't believe people would rather we keep Carroll and throw away Suarez..., you have "Torres left so I won't get attached to any foreign strikers syndrome".

Got all the respect in the world for Ed001..

But Suarez leaving would hurt the club more than heal.

Did anyone watch - go to games last year? We were toothless(no pun) without Luis...

We have got to keep our best players! We lost Alonso, Mascherano, Sami, Torres...look how far we've slipped since 2009.

Lee YNWA

Suarez got banned for 9 games in total, 8 for the evra incident and one extrta game for the inappropriate gesture made at fulham fans!

Liverpool sign Sigurdsson:

Me: "oh...cool...

Spurs sign Sigurdsson:

Me: "oh...ok then...

Liverpool sign Gaston Ramirez:

Me: "YESSSS!! Get IN there you reds!!"

Spurs sign Gaston Ramirez:

Me: "ARRGGH"

My point: whilst we all wouldve been cool to see siggi is a red shirt he isnt gods gift to football and theres many other players id prefer to see us sign...i think most of you guys are just bored an inpatient only way FSG are going to make substantial profit on their huge investment is making sure Liverpool return to the CL and glory, they spent in excess of hundreds of millions buying liverpool and used the net income from players last season on mew signings, they spent hundreds of millions drom their own pocket on the Red Sox and are yet to do the same for Liverpool which I think they will, this season is about being the right players but once we get that CL finish they will in my opinion be buying some of the best players money can buy.

Shak Attack

Fantastic post...

I agree with poster. Iwould also have been pleased to have seen Siggorson at Anfield but as of this moment it seems as it not going to happen. There are a lot of players of the same standard but of course the hard part for the scouts is finding them. Brenden Rogers is a good manager who i believe could become a great manager. We dont need to have high profile individuals to join LFC but players who can control and pass a ball accurately and the rest is down to the coaching staff with regards to playing formations and tactics. Please dont get on the backs of LFC when a ball hasn't been kicked,a player signed or a game played. If all fans support LFC and pull in the same direction this will make us stronger.

Amen..

Alfie

Rodgers will have, more or less, the same players as Kenny.
How will he succeed ?

1- He has got a brain
2- He can man manage
3- He is tacticly aware
4- he plays good football
5- he isn't just a man manager
6- He is from Northern Ireland

Let the window open first. You maybe pleasantly surprised. Theres plenty of time to sign players and plenty of players out there, anyway players like Downing, Henderson and Carroll IMO will certainly be improved this season.

Maybe he'll stick with a winning side, and even more controversial - he may play people in their preferred position - Henderson may not play on right wing - Carroll may get regular games, he may find out where Downings best position is ( right or left ), he may even select one penalty taker ( with back ups if that person not playing ) - the list of what most of us consider managerial mistakes is very very long - hopefully US managers will pick the side in future, or shall we leave it to BR and give him a chance.

They cannot get any worse....haha...seriously though i agree that they will improve their performances but we still need to strengthen, we need another striking option, we need a real right sided winger and cover for lucas...sell skrtel and buy a centre half that is not prone to the 'odd' mistake..our squad will be competitive with these additions...so glad Dirk left, he was a shadow of the former player he used to be...need a quality replacement...moses from wigan for the price they are quoting would be a clever deal

qwikdraw

You could get Markel Susaeta or Ibrahim Afellay for less money than what Wigan want for Victor Moses. Who would you put a bid in for?

"Rodgers has got a brain.
He is from Northern Ireland." etc etc.
Well, we will be alright then, won't we?

29 Jun 2012 21:18:38
Alright macca can u update us on the sigg deal or if the interest in gaston is real? Also do you know if our interest in munian and soldado is still alive?
Cheers
The freshmaker

I can update you on the Sigg deal even though I have no contacts at all because it's painfully obvious that HE'S GOING TO SPURS. There, is that clear enough for everyone who still seems to be a bit deluded?

Hes hardly what I would call a 'world class' midfielder...get over it.

rogers made him..........if hes just in it for cash, hes no use to LFC

Hi eds

A case of picking your brains a bit really and wanting your opinion..

Think ed001 said we didn't meet the price tag for siggy (reportedly 8-10 mil)

Also according to reports we have signed Gaston Ramirez for 20 mil (I know its reports and speculation)

The query being, why would we not meet siggys 8-10 million tag, but will meet a 20 million price tag for Ramirez?

Do you believe he is twice the player and if so, why?

Cheers {Ed022's Note - www.player-profiles.co.uk - look at the profile on Ramirez. As for Sig, this question would need to be asked to BR.}

Cheers ed022, I had a feeling you would chip in with your player profiles site, ha {Ed022's Note - I work bloody hard on those profiles to give fans information about players from across the world, I'll promote it as I see fit as I don't do the profiles to get myself hard.}

I had a feeling you would promote it, and rightly so, use other things to Errmm firm urself up, ha

Player Profiles is an excellent site and well worth a visit

Eds what ıs Gaston Ramırez's actual posıtıon as ıve never even seen hım play! Is he a rıght wınger or central attackıng mıdfıelder a la sıgurdsson... Cheers guys {Ed022's Note - www.player-profiles.co.uk - there's a profile on him which answers all mate.}

Attacking midfielder/forward, right, left or central.

A quick question and trust me im gonna get slated for this lol. What the f**k does imo stand for. Mayb im getting old but just cant get into all this new slang texting stuff. So slate a old man when his down lol. Also i think we have plenty of good players that can play br way. Henderson great passer, stevie g, downing etc. So i think br way of play will suit almost all of our current players. In my eyed we need another striker and attacking cmf and the one we have needed for seasons is a winger who is just gonna take on players down the flank.

Gezza1982 {Ed022's Note - IMO is 'In my opinion' mate.}

Thanks ed lol. Now hopefully ill keep up with this new slang. Might do some homework on it and hopefully pass my a levels.

Gezza1982

I thought it was the Icelandic Metreological office. Thought it was strange thry were mentioned so often!!

Old? At 29? And you used the word 'lol'

29 Jun 2012 21:00:52
Man I'm getting that bad feeling again where I really want a player we are linked with (Ramirez), which automatically means we dont get them! The same thing happend with Honda(the perfect footballer) soldado, Luuk de Jong looks less likely by the second! I'm sure there are many others I've forgotten. So as of now I really hope we don't try and get
Javi Martinez
Kesuke Honda
Gary medel
Luuk de Jong
Max Clayton
Gaston Ramirez ;-)
I am more than happy to trust Rodgers and the board and willing to be patient I am confident we can get the right players in and look forward to a good season YNWA

Square tomato

Honda would be a brilliant signing

29 Jun 2012 20:59:03
Whats is the transfer policy at Liverpool? Does anyone really know? Does an actual strategy exist or are they all stoned out hippies in transfer meetings?

I mean we we get linked to a player, its becomes common knowledge, it drags on for weeks, maybe months, other clubs start sniffing, the price of the player may now start to rise, his wage demands may be about to increase too. We had time to sign said player at lower costs before, but we just plod along as normal, no increased urgency, no worry that we may lose out to a determined rival, yet we still have time to make our move and sign the player, by this time Liverpool are talking about been held to ransom and about paying over the odds for the player. So we carry on negotiating when there is nothing left to negotiate as other clubs step in, and one agrees a deal and signs the player. We move on to our next target and it wheels spins again.

And the end of the transfer window, Liverpool will not have strengthened, we will have assembled another collection mid class performers to add dizzying array already lighting up Anfield.

We will have choice from Victor Moses, Victor Wanyama, Adam Johnson, Luc Constinagos, Milos Krasic, Rasmus Elm, Clint Dempsey. If I missed any second tier footballer that we have been linked with just add them in, they are the type of player Liverpool will probably sign.

I can't see any combination of that lot making us a better team. I'm sure our rivals won't be losing any sleep over us.

Lobster

1. Surely if you followed football enough you would realise that most of the players 'linked' are just guesses from the newspapers and agents. So when we don't get these so called targets the truth is we never even were interested in most of them, hence why they sign for other clubs. Truth is no one 'outside' does know the policy at Liverpool. That's a good thing.

2. The transfer window officially opens on July 1 , so there is plenty of time for transfers to happen. It is not all doom and gloom.

3. We have a new manager who has never seen or trained his squad yet. Surely it doesn't surprise you he would want to assess his squad for at least a week before purchasing players?

Just have a little faith in the people that run the club, or at least wait till the end of the window to complain.

Gh*Lfc

Old fashioned maybe but "hear hear" well said
AND NO REMARKS ABOUT WHERE WHERE

I have a question. I stumbled across this site fairly recently and am quite impressed. It appears to me that I get more informed news here than anywhere else I have found. If it is not wasting your time, I would like a little general info about this site and who runs it such as (in general terms) who are the eds and how are they connected with the club? What kinds of places do they get info that they believe? Who is Macca (assuming he's not Steve McManaman)? No need to give away your secrets, just some generalities would help me get some context as to what I am reading here. Thanks & Keep up the good work!

Matt {Ed022's Note - First off, welcome to the site. This site is run by us (the Eds, as we are known) and there are over 40 of us. This is not the only site, there are several others for all clubs really, so we 40 cover each of them. Macca is a poster who has his own sources within Liverpool who posts his knowledge/information on the site for you readers to see etc. Each Ed has different 'attributes' shall we say, and not all of them are 'in the know', they are just fans of Liverpool who provide opinions etc and just have a bit of banter with the posters. I'm not willing to go in to much more detail to be honest, as that's all you need to know.}

Hi edds please awnser you never awnser my questions

According to caugh awfulsh*te Liverpool have singen rameriz
And according to talksh*te liverpool looking to get Hugo lorris ( France goalie)

Is talksh*te and caught offsh*te reliable sources
{Ed022's Note - As you can tell by me editing your comment ever so slightly, both 'sources' are both vile creations which take pleasure in exploiting fans by feeding them utter lies and garbage.}

29 Jun 2012 20:43:13
Hi all, Saw a post on which Ed002 suggested a deal with juve of 5m + Krasic and Giovinco for suarez and whilst i don't know if any offer is likely i feel that if it is indeed like the aforementioned one it should be seriously considered. Getting two players of quality, and in positions we need for the price of one with a little change to spare is a great deal in my book. The more intelligent of us will know that suarez isn't worth 50M of anyone's money and the valuations being banded about for him are ridiculous.

There are also concerns about giovinco's size, well suarez isn't exactly a machine, and players like hernandez, modric, pre-fat arshavin etc have managed to cope alright despite the physicality of the prem.

I'm not saying 'liverpool will/should/would/could do this, just offering my own opinion on what seems a fairly hot topic. feel free to share yours.

Go and look for another club if you even dont know suarez's worth.

Look for another club if i don't know suarez' worth? I suppose you've had a ton of talks with John Henry and Brendan Rodgers then cos you obviously know exactly how much they value him. The point i was trying to make is, the fans might value him at £40m, but the owners are the ones who'll sell him. How much did he cost them with the Evra saga? value isn't just money these days. The racism thing cost us alot more than just a few pennies. If your attitude is to tell people to 'go and look for a new club' just because they dont agree with your-frankly ridiculous- opinion then i suggest you go and sit in a corner with the rest of the fans who wont be happy until an oil sheikh buys the club and drops 200 billion into it. You live in a dream world.

Krasic is worth about 6m whilst Giovinco would go for about 15m. Suarez is worth much much more than 26m mate. We bought him for 23 and he has improved immensely. He's worth around 38 in my eyes but I still wouldn't sell him.

Hi Ed's and Reds,

I saw a post earlier on which Ed002 suggested a deal involving 5m + giovinco and krasic. I know that this is unlikely, but if an offer like this is received i think it should at least be seriously considered. Gettin two players, plus cash for one player is a great deal, especially if we actually need players of the type being offered. {Ed022's Note - I agree, the deal should certainly be considered if/when offered.}

Krasic £7m to £8m . Giovinco £10m to £12m and + £5m total £25m. don't you think if we want sale Suarez we will get Minimum £35m.

r-r

I believe had to pay Parma 11 for his full rights. So, I'd guess they would be looking for more than 10 or 12.

My Point is if Liverpool sale Suarez no way we will see anything less then £40m. We bought Carroll by £35m and sale our best Striker in £25/30m ? Easy calculation.

cactus

Juventus have just purchased the other 50% of Giovinco's registration for £11 million euros, so i would assume his value would be at least £22 million euros.

Ed are we interested in Ricky van Wolfswinkel? if not who is?Cheers Mate

{Ed022's Note - I don't know on either mate, I'd recommend the search function though.}

29 Jun 2012 20:25:50
Why do people think we are after Moses, he would be a waste of money, he's terrible and wouldn't get 1st team action. Even downing is better than him.

If moses waste money then why Chelsea want him ?

Id rather Moses over Downing, Henderson, Carroll

He's young and raw, very fast and causes problems, a bit of fine tuning and he could be a really useful winger

Red Ollie

I say we sign moses and the first thing he should do is bring plagues upon old trafford and the corrupt fa.

29 Jun 2012 20:25:23
{Ed022's Note - Player Profile update on Gaston Ramirez. You all know who he is so doesn't need much introduction. This profile covers him as a player (his strengths and weaknesses etc) and where he will likely end up. This profile also covers how strong Liverpool's interest is in him etc. www.player-profiles.co.uk - thanks all.}

29 Jun 2012 20:09:05
I haven't heard anything, but i have a good feeling that we willl sign adam johnson. You may just laugh at this post but i predicted that we would sign Joe cole months before it happened, I new we were going to sell arbeloa along time before it happened and I pictured torres in a chelsea shirt years before that happened. My friends can back me up on this but i have a nack for predicting transfers.

Please post this, because i want to see all the people make stupid jokes so then i can laugh to myself when we sign him.

YNWA

I predict we are going to sign kun aguero but that doesn't exactly mean its going to happen.

Dude step back knew macca here

After weeks of speculation relating to which club he will choose, Gylfi Sigurdsson will reject the opportunity of a reunion with Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool and instead move to Tottenham.

In what has been one of the most drawn-out Premier League transfer sagas of the summer, Sigurdsson was originally set to sign permanently for Swansea after enjoying a successful loan spell at the Liberty Stadium during the second half of last season.

Sigurdsson decided to put the brakes on the move following the departure of Rodgers to Liverpool and the 22-year-old was widely expected to join Rodgers at Anfield after a fee had been agreed with Hoffenheim.

However, Tottenham joined the race at the last minute and are understood to have offered Sigurdsson a more lucrative deal along with assurances of his importance to the first-team.

While previous reports have suggested Spurs are the favourites to sign the Icelandic midfielder, sly now understands that Sigurdsoon has in fact completed a medical and officially agreed terms at White Hart Lane.

Sigurdsson will be Tottenham's first signing of the summer, and while the club are currently without a manager, former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is expected to be announced as the new man in charge in the next few days.

The arrival of Sigurdsson suggests that playmaker Luka Modric is heading for the White Hart Lane exit, with widespread reports claiming he will submit an official transfer request if he is not allowed to leave.

Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid are all interested in the Croatian star.

from thetxxxz

Sigurdsson going to spurs for money. yes more money. he can be next Dos santos.

29 Jun 2012 19:55:08
all spurs seem to do is let us scout players then bid for them has been same for last few years! i hope bale VDV modric all leave cause after them 3 they have no one worth worrying about

They also have no Adebayour this coming season and he was a big player for them last season.

Let siggurrdson join spurs. Bad move in my opinion as the manager usually chooses the players he wants. At the moment they havent got one. Is this the future managers choice?

29 Jun 2012 19:53:43
well we certainly missed a trick when it comes to gylfi, due to rodgers being compassionate to swansea. totthenham dint need to do this and theyve got their man. rodgers as been in the job a month and hasnt signed anyone yet. cmon rodgers pull your finger out . arsenal have already signed two quality players that we are sadly lacking and i cant help feel concerned especially now gylfis gone.

Damn! Where was spurs when we were bidding for Carroll, Adam and Henderson?

Arsene Wenger been at Arsenal 17 years and has been been building a squad for a long time. Rodgers has been at Liverpool for a month and has been working hard to asses the squad and youth available before deciding on what players he needs. Give the man a chance, there's plenty of time to sign players and plenty of players to choose from.
HAVE SOME PATIENCE!!

29 Jun 2012 19:49:56
Great idea
Let's pay Sig over the odds cos spurs are...
Why haven't we signed ...... (fill in the gap).

Is true that Luuk d Jong have signed for monchengladbach in a 4 yr deal? {Ed022's Note - Not yet, although they have placed a bid.}

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has brushed aside speculation about his future and insists he is looking forward to the new season at Anfield. Most recently the Slovakia international has been linked with Premier League champions Manchester City and before that it was Russian big-spenders Anzhi Makhachkala.Skrtel said on his personal website: "There is also speculation about my exit from Liverpool but I can say that there was no offer on the table yet and we didn't hold talks with any club."
While Skrtel's agent has previously hinted the player wants to be reassured the club's ambitions meet his own, the 27-year-old said he was optimistic the coming campaign would be better than the last, which brought a first trophy for six years but also saw the side finish eighth."I will be leaving for Liverpool on July 6. I am very excited about new season," Skrtel added.

''No offer on the table yet'' In other words, Someone make me an offer and im gone.

Why-o-why are LFC fans letting themselves down with all this moaning about a Siggurdson or whatever his name is. It's not the end of the world he's had one good season in the prem, so what!! If it was Lionel Messi we missed out on I could understand the frustration. All these arm chair supporters bad mouthing the club. They are badgering on about missing out on this player and that player and the transfer window hasn't even opened. This just gives fuel to other supporters from other clubs to come on to this site and take the mickey, and to be honest I wouldn't blame them. I read Macca's post last week where he said LFC will spend big on the right players, and I totally agree with him. There is an Italian guy that I work with here in Iraq , and he's a Bologna fan. He was having a bit of banter with me when I said we were going to sign G Ramirez. In all honesty though when I asked him if he was any good he said he is fantastic. My feeling is and as I say it's just a feeling that we will sign him.

What do you think EDS?

Elmo96 {Ed022's Note - www.player-profiles.co.uk - there is now an updated profile on Ramirez which covers EVERYTHING about him, where he will likely end up, etc.}

Its not just sigurdsson we lost out on. De Jong, Caulker, Kagawa, Powell, Traore, Kalou, M Suarez, Soldado, Tello, Elia said no, Keita said no, Llorente laughed at us.

How do you know we missed out on them?? I've seen no reports saying we were interested other than sig and I think BR has found a better option. We do our business behind closed doors so we could have better quality players lined up. You could say we've missed out on every player in the world

Everyday new roumers . today we are up to the player and he will very near to sign for us. next day he is gone to other club. whats wrong ?

The problem is you keep reading and believing the stuff written on dodgy websites and scum tabloids.

Here's a radical idea. Let's wait til the club announce something, before jumping to conclusions...

Hi Eds , can you answer me this ? why are liverpool looking at victor moses as a new signing ? { this has been reported but may not be true obviously } he is a forward with an appalling game to goal ratio he has played 147 games and only scored 20 goals ! { i got this from wikipedia }
so in your opinion is he good enough for LFC to be looking at as a new goal scoring striker ?
Thanks edds love the site
ynwa {Ed001's Note - he is not someone I have seen linked with us by anyone reliable. I very much doubt there is interest in a player that seems to have a neck issue, he has not lifted his head to look for a pass in his entire career. Considering the style of footie Rodgers intends to employ, I see no reason why he would be under consideration.}

But ed001, rodgers bought Sinclair for Swansea and he falls into the category of players with 'neck problems' :P

AG {Ed005's Note - Swansea are a different club, with different resources and different expectations and BR was simply working within the context of that and working within his resources to bring in the best quality players for the standard of expectations and the club.}

29 Jun 2012 19:05:56
What is going on in terms of transfers? We just seem to be linked with average players constantly. It's very depressing. Hope BR knows what he is doing. Every other club is signing the decent players, we are just fighting for scraps. Not good.

Hessle Red

An average player is someone who can pass accurately.Can control a ball.Can understand instuctions from the manager and to carry out tactics that are required.A lot of succesful teams contain average players who can understand instructions on how to nullify their opposition hopful for a draw and with some luck a win. Hopefully the players you particulary have in mind also
have a brain

This Twieted Sisters' song popped inside my head regarding Sig Saga.

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

We've got the right to choose and
There ain't no way we'll lose it
This is our life, this is our song
We'll fight a 1000 legions
Don't pick our destiny 'cause
You don't know us, you don't belong

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

All this talk of Sigurdsson has got to stop.
This guy was about to sign for Swansea and there is no way in hell they would have offered him anything more than 50k a week. BR moves to Liverpool and Sigurdsson following seemed the most likely. We wanted him and he wanted to play for us. Until then Spurs were in the middle of their manager issues. Later when it seems that AVB will be managing Spurs, they make a offer and Sigurdsson now seems to go for the higher pay.
I will be happy if he comes proving that he doesn't play just for the money. I will be happy if he goes to Spurs because we wont be signing another player who over values himself.
It seems likely that we are looking at players better that Sigurdsson, Ramirez for example or else we would have paid the extra 10k and wrapped it up.
So all this proves that we are making the right calls when signing players.
Fans on this site need to relax and wait till everything clears up.

Once again i am sickened by the fact we attract decent players but lose out due to slow negotiations, Lets face it we've lost the chance to get gylfi, chelsea will put a new bid in before we even talk to his agents, from 2008 onwards we could of had a fantastic squad, no wonder we lost torres, mascherano, alonzo, arbeola.. ed's, As a life long liverpool fan, im starting to loose faith on decent signings, Is this the season we fight for top 4 no... we'll be fighting for top 8... honestly Ed's, who do you think that is most likely to join? {Ed001's Note - sorry I got bored by your whining, couldn't be bothered to read it all.}

Oh just shut up whining

hi to all reds across the land,just wanted to say siggurdson is no great loss,plenty more good players out there and sure our scouting dept are doing there job trying to identify top targets to bring to the club,and did we really want a manc fan coming to our beloved club,be patient reds fans as things will develop very shortly regarding transfers..nick,cheshunt herts...YNWA..

Agree. We need to show patience and buy the right players. I dont think we need wholesale changes to the team, but make quality additions in the right positions. Winger, striker and a central midfielder with more physical presence for me. Krasic, lewandowski and m soussoko would be my ideal signings.

You're sure the scouts are doing a good job?? What.....like they've done every other season recently??

We must have the worst scouts ever! We might as well employ Stevie Wonder, for all the good ours have done!!

Evening all, just a few thoughts for all the moaning minnie's out there.
1: the todge has not even had a single training session with his players yet, let alone a game.
2: the transfer window is not officially open yet and doesn't close till Aug 31st.
3: fsg spent 120m on player's last summer, who's to say they won't spend big again? (maybe not to that level)
4: if fsg were trying to save money why spend a fortune releasing commoli, Kenny, Clarke and many others and then say out again to bring in Rodgers and other replacements??
5: there is no concrete evidence that we have lost any of our transfer targets as yet, and in football even the likes of man c can't get everyone they want.

So please answer this, if we finish 12th next year and all our best players leave and the owners say we can't afford any new players or stadium or redevelopment, will u stop cheering on the boys?? Will u start following some rich glory chasing no history or class s**t bags?? No I thought not, so let's stop all the negativity and let Rodgers start the job he was brought here to do. I for one am confident we in for a decent season and will all be smiling once more.
COME ON U RED MEN!!

Sorry made a mistake, fsg spent 120all together not last summer doh!!

From the start i doubted wherther FSG made the right choice in appointing Brendan Rodgers as manager. When he took over on day 1 i didnt feel he would have what it takes to attract the type of players we need.

Since then, He has been unable to convince 3 of his former players to sign for. Borini signed with Roma, Sigurdsson is Spurs bound and Caulker said he would prefer to stay on loan at Swansea for another season or go to back to Spurs and fight for his place.

We've also lost out on Kalou to Schalke, De Jong has a choice of Newcastle or Monchengladbach, M Suarez could be off to Arsenal. Moses to Chelsea?

Alot of people saying Sigurdsson chose Spurs for more money? Lets not fool ourselves, Yes we all wanted Sig. But Spurs are constantly going after Champions League spots, More Squad depth, especially if we lose Reina, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson and Suarez. Yes Spurs can obviously pay more wages, But we have to admit, We are not the force we used to be and we just seem to be getting worse the last 3-4 seasons.

For gods sake, How bad are things when Diame turned us down to sign for newly promted West Ham? Things are bad and i dont think Rodgers is the man to get us back in shape.

Kuyt has been sold on, Maxi will probably follow, Lucas will take time to get back to fitness, Spearing and Shelvey are not Premier League quality. Adam, Henderson, Downing and Carroll will have to stay until at least January because nobody will want them?

Do any of you actually realise how bad of a situation we are in?

Carragher is another year older and to be honest he should of retired at the end of the 2010/11 season, Stevie G only started 18 games last season through injury.

I just cant see us coming out of the Brendan Rodgers era being any better than we are now.

He wants all this tika-taka stuff, But lets be honest, Barcelona play tika-taka. They have Iniesta, Xavi, Pedro, Busquets, Thiago, Tello, Messi, Fabregas, Villa etc. we have Carroll, Spearing, Downing, Gerrard, Henderson, Adam etc. Only Suarez could maybe get into Barca's squad but he could be leaving us.

Cole and Aquilani returning is not good enough, But as i said, From day 1 i had no faith in Rodgers.

He needs to either sort it out, or get out.

I love this club too much to watch it constantly fail

Andy YNWA

{Ed001's Note - damn you talk a complete load of rubbish fair play!}

A fully fit Gerrard would get into any team

We have probelms whehter people want to see them or not they exist, maybe things will brighten up over the course of the summer.

Without Hope all thats left is despair

I keep hoping FSG will sell up to a sheik

Couldn't agree more... With Ed001

Have you spoken to Brendan Rodgers and asked if we missed out on these players? It always helps if we put in a bid for them.

Maybe what he's doing is, now that he's at a bigger club going for players at a higher level than what he had at Swansea. It's only poor journalism stating we are after so and so or we missed out on another player.

Wait until the window opens, we will sign players

Rogers will work his magic you wait and see this guy is is just what we need like back in 1959 an unknown Bill Shankly walked thru the gates of Anfield and started a revolution that still reverberates around the club today now its the turn of an irishman whos done his time at lesser clubs and now is ready for the bigtime believe me he will get us back were we belong forget all this nonsense of having billions to spend yes it helps but it doesnt create a togetherness were all pull in the same direction look at chelsea for all their wealth they dont all pull in the same direction

It really annoys me when people who 'love the club' so much are SO negative before the season has even started. Get a grip Andy!
KJS

I wish people would stop all this nonsense about us missing out on targets. De Jong and Diame were Kenny's targets, but who's to say BR wanted them? I'm pretty sure, if we wanted Diame we would've got him, as he was practically begging us to sign him.

The only player we 'believe' BR wanted to sign was Sigurdsson, but he got greedy and asked for double what he would've got at Swansea. Don't forget, he had agreed personal terms and just had to sign the contract at Swansea for it to have been a done deal. Had BR stayed there, he'd be a Swansea player by now and no one would've cared who he was.

It saddens me that there are 'so called' fans like you who think nothing of slagging off the coach and players before they've even had a chance to train together. How on earth did you cope during the 90's, when we were nowhere near competing with Man Utd and Arsenal, or did you take 'time off' until we won the Champions League in 2005 and it became fashionable to support Liverpool once more?

Rich P

I got some good rope if u want some m8 u sound so depressed.....steve

This has got to be the most negative post of the week...........and that's up against some pretty stiff competition.
You are correct in some respects but the overall tone smacks of defeatism.
Give the new staff a chance, stop using Barcelona as a yardstick when commenting on individual players and the "he needs to sort it out or get out" comment sums you up to be honest.

will people stop slating fsg, they are not in it to make money, they care about the good of the club short term and long term and most of all they care about the fans

The only thing americans care about is money more money and even more money,they dont buy something unless there going to make money.

What planet are you from mate?

FSG care and John Lennon is a dutch man.

Of course FSG are in it to make money you fool. They are hard nosed businessmen, and if you think there in it for the love of it then your very gullible. Mike

Of course they wanna make money its a business and investors need to be looked after but they deserve more respect

No doubting they're in it to make money, but to make money they need to make the team on the pitch a success, which bodes well.

Where do you come from mate? Fairyland? The only thing FSG are in this for is to make money, they don't give a dam about the fans.

Hi Eds,
Just heard that we have signed Gaston Ramierez from Bologna for £20 million pounds. Can u shed any light on this.

29 Jun 2012 18:10:28
We all should learn from the Charlie Adam signing , in january we were after him and just befor the deadline finished spurs jumped in and had the offer accepted but because of the board member from blackpool not being there the deal never went through , now we have him and he has not played any were near his blackpool days , weather thats down to tactics i dont know but it could happen with GS if he goes to spurs , they could end up with a player like adam , as ive said in an earlier post i would rather have a player who wants to play for the shirt instead of a pay cheque , only time will tell , and BR will know if his wage demands were too much because of what swansea was paying him weekly , it must have been a big demand if BR has turned his back on him ,,,,,,,,,,,mickey b

To be honest, I thought Charlie's 2nd half of the season at Blackpool was quite poor. He looked decent in the first half, but given his drop in form in the 2nd I was surprised we went for him anyway.

Still hope he shows what he is perhaps capable of in the future though!

RDL

LOL dont be so bitter, Sigurdsson is a much better player than Adam, He didnt come to us, He chose Spurs, Get over it.

GS is nothing like Adam, Sigurdsson is quality and Adam is urrm well lets just say not very good and for the price sigurdsson cost i think Liverpool have really missed out.

No chance. gilfi is class. he will be better than van de vaart

Charlie Adam,that had more assists than any other Liverpool player last season.

I have seen my gran move quicker than Adam and she is like in her seventies.

29 Jun 2012 18:07:34
Modric, Van Der Vaart to be replaced by Sig! AVB as manager! I suspect spuds will be on the slide. Good luck to Sig he may well have chosen the wrong place and wrong time. Most players are mercenary these days so its not unexpected that money talks.

im not gonna say how 'my mate who works for a techn ology business met brendan rodgers and discussed targets, but i have a suspicion that schurlle will come in, andy carroll out, and i did hear from my mate NOT working at anfield that liverpool WILL look at a CM, someone that plays like yaya does for city...

I am not going to believe anything from someone who cannot spell or know where the shift key is.

Dav001

Ridiculous post.
What a waste of 15 seconds reading it!
(Thats according to my mate NOT working at anfield)

29 Jun 2012 17:57:09
Just a question not a rumour eds , do you think liverpool are throwing off intrest on our targets by saying we in for other players. Like with our manager , most people thought r.martenez was our manager ,bt we were after b.r the whole time

U believe that?

29 Jun 2012 17:48:16
To all those panic striken worry warts... There is no point whatsoever having a cry over the loss of Sigurdsson to a rival as he would have been 1 of 3 or 4 shortlisted targets for that particular position (CAM) and if there is anyone that would know his true value and whether he is really worth adjusting the wage struture for, it would be Rodgers.

LFC is being "strongly" linked in the media to a different player every other day, its laughable as they really have very little to go on, so any sign of interest (even a chinese whisper) results in the player due to have a medical in 48 hours!

Rodgers still needs time to assess the current players, who he wants to ship out and who he needs to tie down.

Unless bids are made for our targets (who clearly no media outlet knows about), I wouldn't be suprised if we make most signings in August.

At the end of the day, we are only looking for 2 or 3 key signings to help the team: keep the ball better, create more clear cut chances and to put those chances away.

We are not in the Champions League but money talks and if we get Aquilani off the wage bill we can then offer decent wages to attract at least 2 or 3 quality players whom the club deem to be "key".

Yes we are looking in the 19 to 24 age range but don't be suprised if at least one over 25 player is signed (if the price is right). Its all about what key ingredients Rodgers needs to add to create a devastatingly attacking team.

Trust in Rodgers and FSG - they will deliver.

"All men commend patience, although few are willing to practice it".

Cheers JY

Pity FSG did not show the King Patience

The King had his chance, he failed to create a consistent style of play and his staff (SC) lacked tactical acumen and the players he chose lacked finishing ability (confidence) thoughout the season. Rodgers time is now.

Is BR sleeping or wat?? Gylfi missed Traore gone... WTF is happenin at LFC ? Wer is BR.? Wil LFC sign any player ? {Ed022's Note - Sigh.}

Haven't used this word in a very long time ...Nincompoop!, ah that feels better.

Thanks

You Ed's have the patience of a saint. My response to that particular post would have been far stronger than a mere "sigh"

AD

We've also missed out on Ben Foster, Andy Johnson, and Robert Green! Oh no, we're doomed!

Give it a rest and let's see what happens before we start moaning people...

Obviously a new breed of fan,every player were linked with u want us to sign,be patient and support your team instead of constantly avin a go like most other people

In 1983 we missed out on Michael Laudrup and Michel Platini!
Oh the horror, what is going on at Liverpool?!

How come other clubs have made signings then? Answer that

Because other clubs are more professional and better run than Liverpool.

29 Jun 2012 17:42:47
Hi EDs - just seen a story on SSN Media Centre app that says Di Santos has left the Mexican training camp to complete a move away from Spurs this weekend. I know BR was looking at him for Swansea, but do you think he might bring him to Liverpool instead? I know many will say he's not good enough, but if we haven't gone for Gylfi, perhaps he's seen as an alternative to bolster the squad? {Ed022's Note - Not that I know of mate.}

Under the right supervision, I think he could be a great little player. He always looks good when playing for Mexico.

With the club potentially losing Maxi and Bellamy, and Kuyt already gone we are lacking in the wide areas, and under the right circumstances he could be a decent signing I think.

Hi Eds, apparently Alonso will not be getting a new contract offer. i know he's been discussed before bjt surely they wpuld look to sell if they were going to let his contract run down.
Personally i think tgey will give him a newcontract.
Any thoughts?

I was just in the run down back streets near where I live and I saw two shadey figures - but they were wearing sunglasses so it looked official.

Anyway I heard one say something about 'Liverpool' and 'big deal' about something 'little and white', thus I can only assume that we are signing Lionel Messi, Xavi or Iniesta. Only passing on what I heard.

FACT, 110% True, ITK and all those other things people say like sauces.

All the doom and gloom naysayers here wake up!

BR knows he has to BUY SMART.

ED's can i have your opinions on these players, all of who i think are realistic LFC options to buy.... can you rate them out of ten for everyone here

1. Ljajic (Fiorentina) RM/AM - I know he was almost a United player a couple of years ago and there were work visa problems but maybe that could be OK now?

2.Veloso (Genoa) DM/LB - I like him as he's a good player in the Portugese side where all are over-shadowed by Ronaldo. Plays a good shutdown role in midfield and when he plays left back not afraid to run and attack. Perfect dual option to work with Lucas and Enrique in my opinion.

3. Boudebouz (Sochaux) AM/RM - We were into him in January and surely we still are but maybe Sochaux will keep him seeing as Martin went to Lille.

BrentOZ {Ed022's Note - I've only really seen boudeboux, and my opinion can be found at www.player-profiles.co.uk - it's a lot more in depth that 'he's a good player, he isn't a good player' etc.}

29 Jun 2012 17:31:57
Any news on where Dos Santos is going? Believe he has left the Olympic squad to complete a deal somewhere. {Ed022's Note - No news from me.}

29 Jun 2012 17:19:05
Hi All,

Does anyone know when the players are due to report for pre-season training? I tried the search function and found a post from May and a few from last year. I am also confident that we will see a much improved LFC next season. The fact that no-one knows who is coming in is a positive to me. I don't believe in the Moses talk, Sigurdsson is already a Spurs player as far as I am concerned. Rodgers will buy players who will fit into what he has in mind instead of just making random buys. I expect players who will make a name for themselves at our club instead of the other way around. Thanks in advance.

Canadian Fan {Ed022's Note - Monday morning I believe some of them report back.}

29 Jun 2012 17:07:37
Have a funny feeling we might sign Gio dos santos. What do you think eds?

He is moving to Spain

He's rubbish, people got excited because he scored one good goal against Brazil.

29 Jun 2012 17:08:09
In my opinion, this is our best starting 11 from every player we have regardless of their situation:
Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enriqe
Gerrard
Suso Aquilani
Suarez Carroll Pacheco

Sterling is not ready IMO. Also, Lucas is good but Gerrard is even better in that position, and if one of the midfield 3 gets injured, which is likely with Gerrard, Lucas can come in. We should easily get top 4 with this team, but some will probably leave which is why we really need to get top quality players to replace them.

Hounsred

So you have taken one of the best defensive midfielders in the league off and moved Gerard back and put that fat, unfit Italian that doesn't want to be here ? Glad your not the manager!

Brisc93

Sterling not ready, but Suso is?

Pacheco played only in 8 games (as a sub) for a mid table team!

Suso is nearly 19 and Sterling is 17. Gerrard is getting on and should therefore play in that purlin role.

Hounsred

The top 4 will be shaking in their boots with that team.

Suso has developed on the physical side a lot since joining us and is very good at shielding the ball. He will get his chance this year and I'm sure he will take it!

29 Jun 2012 17:05:08
Victor Moses.....haa

Typical Liverpool going for second rate players just to save money.

As average as he is, it will still take Liverpool 2 months the wrap up a deal to sign him, but maybe Everton will have hijacked the deal by then.

Jed

Why would Everton hijack are deal for him,when have Everton ever hijacked a player from us,you should of said spurs that might of made more sense.

I'm praying everton hijack the deal if we really are interested in him, he's just another attacking player with no goal threat what so ever

Same old same old,we'll be posting on ere right up to the last minute,it will end,and us fans will be down hearted and disappointed again,We'll never learn,LFC just can't compete anymore...were like a magnet that pushes decent players away,oh yeah,the odd one we get,but most we dont....

Don,t be so damned miserable.You know nothing yet.One thing you should know is that the club keep their business close to their chest.

Well go support city then you shallow marshmallow..redness

Any truth in the rumour that Gaston Ramirez has signed for us?

LFC|Man {Ed002's Note - He is in Montevideo at the moment.}

He will have retired before Liverpool have got around to deciding he is worth it.

29 Jun 2012 16:47:55
so we have moved from siggurdson... to troare.. to ramirez and now moses.

persoanlly i dont think we will move for any players with real conviction until BR has assesed the squad.

theres players returing from loan spells theres fringe players to consider and possible youth players.

i wouldnt get too excited about anyone just yet. i could be wrong.

Just read that Liverpool have completed a 20mil deal for Gaston Ramirez. Any truth in this EDs?

BenLFC

Nah mate, its still only early in the Gaston Ramirez saga, we have at least another 20 to 30 days to go before this epic tale of bids, talks, sightings, ITK's, twittering's, constant ED002 RTFP's updates, and dark brooding rivals lurking in the shadows reaches a anti-climatic conclusion, and he signs for someone else

It's good that we have so many links with these players,but how many do fsg really attend to buy?
I for one ,is sick of having our trousers pulled down on deals,and don't believe we should bow to greedy players demands.we have a strong 11 that needs tweaking and not overhauled.

Stop moaning and buy a belt or even a brace

Or those big safety pins they use for babies nappies!

Day 32 in the Sigurdsson saga....... You greedy ****
Spurs can have you!!
Dont want players who are only driven by the money.
Not deluded, I realise thats 90% of them, but doesnt mean i have to like it.
If its all lies and he signs for us then lets just ignore everything i said and ill love him
Ho ho ho

sly reporting spurs ready to tie up deal for sigurdsson next week. Hope not.

If we lose out to spurs then it proves we can no longer compete!!

I believe most LFC fans are miffed not because we will miss out on Suggurdson, but because our transfer dealings are slow and ponderous and are played out in the public eye and rivals are given plenty of time to easily out maneuver us. In reality our club is a train wreck when it comes to signing players.

Jed

Oh noes.

we weren't prepared to pay over the odds for an average player!!

the sky is falling!!

falling i tell ya!

If we miss out to Spurs it means they are paying over the odds for players!
Id rather have players that want to play for us to help us win things and get back on top than players that play for a wage packet only!

Im sorry but the days of playing for the love of Liverpool are over, money is king nowadays not glorious past history im afraid.

Hi guys. Q for the eds.

In your opinion/knowledge is Sig going to Spurs just for the money or is it footballing reasons as well? i.e. he thinks Liverpool are way behind.

I really thought BR would swing it for us.

Thanks, keep up the great work,
Mr T

please post in rumours (its the best page and only one i go on) ta. {Ed002's Note - Sadly not a rumour Mr T so in the Banter bucket with everything else.}

29 Jun 2012 15:42:58
If thats true about Sigurdsson the we have realy missed out on a real little gem. We wont compete even we spurs on transfers then we a f****d.

So we have missed out on Messi then? Something like 18 good games at Swansea proves what exactly, Hoffenheim couldn't wait to get rid. Spurs need him more than us anyway, hence the gamble they have taken on meeting the lads wage demands.

And how many times have you seen Sigurdsson play, to say we have missed a gem, not many superstar Icelandic players been in top flight footabll - pretty sure that if Rodgers thought he would fit in at Liverpool -then he would now be a Liverpool player.

John B

Whos this messi fella people are mentioning.. he sounds like an untidy footballer so im kinda glad we missed out on him theres a LB we should buy hes called konchesky but we should play him up front.

Hello Eds I would appreciate if you help me with the following Questions :
1. Is there interest in Joe cole and spearing from any teams ? Also what is the situation with Brad Jones didn't he want to return to Autralia.
2. Do we have any interest in Schurrel or our interest lies only on Moses ?
3. Is there the slightest of chance of Aquilani staying atleast for 1 season with Milan extending Flamini's contract ? If he stays we need not worry about losing Sigurdsson. {Ed002's Note - (1) Spearing I don't know. Cole yes but money is the issue. Sadly circusmstances impacted the Jones situation - I don't know what the plan is now. (2) I don't know of any interest on Schurrle. (3) Liverpool will look to unload Aquilani.}

G'day Eds and Reds

Was just wondering.
Often, when "sly" report something we don't generally like, most people attack them and call it all carp, etc., which mostly it turns out to be. But, now they report Sig is off to Spurs, everyone takes it as gospel?
Just curious
Or was it reported by someone else?

RedOz
{Ed002's Note - I have no idea why they behave this way.}

Because this time they are right

The thing about sly News is that really they are now the only current dedicated sports news channel, there is no other real news channel that jus reports sports 24 hours a day. The other problem is Sky is owned by Murdoch, who owns News Corp in UK and Fox in USA. News Of The World was and The S*n is subsidaries of News Corp. Therefore, things from sly are essentially brought to you by the people who report for those newspapers or any newspaper for that fact and how much rubbish have we seen about transfers posted in those 2 particular papers? A lot. Plus, 24 hours is a long time, apart from 'Through The Night' the rest is live and its a long time to fill up, they need to make stuff up to fill the gaps. Eventually, they'll get 1 right.

The only good thing i can say about sly News is that when you have trouble sleepin, its a good channel to put on to help you get to sleep.

Are they though like the original poster i have noticed these rhumours have picked up incredible steam over the last 30 hours why is this and whats the point in saying this time there right and nothing more..pointless addition.redness

Afternoon all, been told by my uncle who works for "Liverpool Echo" that Rogers has told Aquilani's representatives that he wants him to stay until the winter to see how things pan out for him, if it goes well, Rogers will obviously want to keep him and he said if it doesn't he will be sold for as little as 2M.

Cheers

Sounds plausible

29 Jun 2012 15:31:37
We need to accept facts. Liverpool FC no longer has the same pull for players. A good few years of mis management on and off the field has left us going backwards. Spurs have offered a better package and currently are competing for top four thats why SIG has chosen them. Ramirez wont choose us as wants to play champions league. If it is Ayre involved in negotiations quite frankly we are doomed. Benitez wouldhave been better choice of manager as he will be able to attract players. Jury still out on Rodgers, not convinced by owners either.
Redfish

Go support Spurs then!!

Dave

Benitez may have attracted players, but true to form he would never have played them in the position they were bought for, and the football would have been dire to watch. And Spurs challenged for the top 4 last year - who is to say they will do it this year - it's a funny old game.

John B

'Jury still out on Rodgers' - how generous of you considering he has never had the chance to train a team for LFC, let alone actually have them play a game! Whatever your beef just chill the F### out.

Dave why don't you go and support west brom if you're satisfied with mediocrity. complaining doesn't make you a bad supporter

If we buy every player we're linked with we will end up with over a 1000 players!!

BR has only had the job for a few weeks he needs to look at the players we have, would you rather he spend £60m-£100m on players we don't really need?

We need RW, ST, CM, DM!!

In BR we trust!!!

Dave

And failing to get worked up because we didn't pay silly wages to some Icelandic guy no one had heard of before January doesn't mean you're 'satisfied with mediocrity'.

Neither does moaning at the moaners

Rafa is a dictator , and if he was that great of a manager he would be employed , he was in talks with a team the other day , i bet him tranfers kitty demands were the blocker , plus vi think our cubs name is still a top draw for players , we have not even got the whole squad back and your saying the jury is still out , god help him with youu if we lose a game ,,,,,,,,,,mickey b

29 Jun 2012 15:18:39
Now we lose all our targets. De Jong to newcastle and siguardsson to spurs. R we simpely not attractive enough? Who r we going for eds ?

We are certainly more attractive then , spurs n newcastel, have bigger fan base, can even match the likes of madrid or chevesky if not city, in money salary n all...

its just that you are believing the news stuff, the players n agents do all this dirty work to get what they originally want, have faith n wait a bit.

No LFC are pig ulgy right now

Who wants to play for Rogers

It was different when the King was at LFC he had style and Charisma, that something indefinable special quality

If your not attractive enough for de Jong or sigurdsson, then maybe you need to try the mature dating website conveniently placed at the top of the page mate.

MIKEY

We need the Club to become more attractive by getting Eva Carneiro (chelsea physio) and Melissa Theuriau (French news Anchor) on the staff, then nobody can complain about LFC's attractiveness :P

Hi a couple of other sites reporting we have signed G. Ramirez for £20m any truth? Explains why we didn't push for sig.

29 Jun 2012 15:09:04
Gaston Ramirez' agent has been in the North West talking to LFC & City reps recently,LFC are promising first team football which could hopefully prove a major factor,and City are offering him a big money contract to lure him to Eastlands

Hopefully we'll get an answer next week

I think the lad will join us if it is between us and city. Money doesn't seem to be an issue with him due to him saying he would happily stay at bologna. In addition I think Suarez recommended him so obviously players talk and Suarez would talk to him for sure.

Why don't we sign Messi he's bound to be best mates with Maxi with them both being from Argentina lol

GASTON Ramirez has achieved his goal of securing a move to a "big club" this summer, with Liverpool reportedly signing the Uruguay international for £20 million.
Although the young player has revealed he would have had no problem remaining at Bologna for another season, the 21-year-old has voiced his enthusiasm to move to one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
SOURCE: Daily Express
So this source believes Liverpool have already done the deal to capture Gaston Ramirez and given that the Uruguayan would be joining a host of his countrymen at Anfield such a move sounds very plausible.
The talented young attacking midfielder has enjoyed two solid seasons in Italy with Bologna and has been linked with a move to Anfield for a number of months. New boss Brendan Rodgers will no doubt be keen on strengthening a squad that completed Liverpool's worst top tier finish in over 60 years last term and bringing in a creative talent who can help provide ammunition for the likes of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll would be very high on his list of priorities.
Liverpool's American owners handed Kenny Dalglish £120m to invest in new players and didn't see much in the way of success from their outlay and will hope that Rodgers manages his transfer funds more wisely.
Dalglish invested in a number of players who should have helped provide a cutting edge in the final third but the likes of Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing failed to make an impact and therefore Rodgers had to decide whether the players he currently possesses are up for the task or whether new recruits are needed. This source would appear to suggest that he is more than willing to pay big sums to rectify the mistakes made last term.
Ramirez would join national team-mates Suarez and youngster Sebastian Coates at the Merseyside club.

Ed there is a rumour that RM have refused to renew alonso's contract as he is over 30, is this true and could he come back to lfc? {Ed002's Note - His contract has not expired. Twitter?}

No one has said his contract has expired, ed. they're are just saying real madrid re not renewing it. Ie. not giving him an extension. I think he's only got a year or so left, so that is what the fuss is about.

seriously, get over the sig saga. personally i think it may be a blessing in disguise. funds to sign someone better hopefully. and then when spurs come to anfield you watch stevie g run things, and im sure lucas wont let sig go anywhere. at the end of the day we want players here who want to play for lfc, have passion. there are plenty of players and hidden gems out there. im sure br will make some good choices.
in a perfect window id love to see schurrle, ramirez or rodrigues come. 1 or 2 of them. and then a hungry, pacy passionate young striker. looking at rumours on here, i think rondon would be an ideal choice.
no way should br or fsg let suarez go for such small value what the likes of juventus are offering. 14.5m plus krasic, are you for real? more like 25-30 mill plus krasic. look at the value of other players being touted around europe. and suarez is up there with that valuation easily. im in two minds, id love to see him stay obviously, but if a big offer was to come in, we could use the funds buy what we need along with the funds provided by fsg and other player sales. liverpool are not a 1 man team. if he was to go we definitely need to be bringing players like i mentioned above.
also we have some great youngsters. suso, sterling, texeira. i dont think midfield is as much of a priority as a winger and striker.
all in all. stop all the negativity and get behind the team. liverpool til i die. YNWA.
yeah some of the players might be a long shot. i think schurrle and ramirez are definitely a possibilty though.
what are others opinions?

cant understand why sigursson would go to a club with no manger, i cant see him getting in the spurs side the way AVB plays with modric VDV and talk of moutino, i hope he rots on the bench for being greedy. i would test the water and make a bid for tom huddlestone i know he has his injuries but he is a better player than siggursson and will probebly be made avalible now spurs have 15 midfielders! i remember when they tried to get charlie adam redknapp knew nothing about it! i much prefer the syestem where the manager has a say who comes in! please post!!

Stop being bitter mate. He decided to join spurs, get over it. Its non of our business if he is reserve or regular player at spurs. We didnt exactly lose out on messi did we? Keeping my fingers crossed for Ramirez n a top notch striker who can put 20 goals into da net.

the owner can even spend money to get quality players and they want sell our best players if we sell them we will be crap they just dont knw anything about football and fans passion about player the man say he is sorry they just want money and i am piss at the ownner am not even looking forward to the season anymore because we will miss out on champion league again and it will be like this next season if we cant sign quality player

I would argue that they know a few things about football, and they certainly know a good deal more than any of us about business. Having a stable financial structure and steady profits will provide long term quality much more than a single player ever will.

Hi ED's Love the site. Can you please tell me is there any truth or anything behind us possibly signing GASTON Ramirez in the near future? i feel that if we went in for him we may have a good chance coz of our uruguan connection. on a scale of 1 - 10 what do you think our chances are of these players being at melwood for this coming season?

GASTON Ramirez

Adam Johnson

Victor Moses

Fabio Borini

Gylfi Sigurdsson

"Smithy, would you take Giovinco and Krasic in exchange for Suarez ?
The Real KB"
No KB, I wouldn't, I'd take 15-20million plus Giovinco, and then go and get Gaston Ramirez with the rest of the money. I'm of the opinion that we have seen the best of Krasic and I'm not entirely convinced that he would fit in with pass and move, he sometimes struggles to get his head up and pass/cross. Although he is very fast and we do need pace, but I wouldn't want him playing how he has been.
The Giovinco one is very interesting IMO, and whilst he is very small, he has a lot of ability, it's just if he can cope with the physical side which is a big doubt, but I'd take the risk myself, he is the sort of player we need, very quick, skillful, can see a pass, good eye for goal and can play in a variety of positions. Then go and get a striker or two, a couple of back up players (DM, LB) and we are sorted lol.

Interesting.
I was just having a quick look on the odds of Suarez leaving Liverpool, and they are depressingly low mate.
You couldn't even really make a few quid out of the misery of losing him. Lol.
I hope he stays but I literally wouldn't put any money on it.
I can't get help feeling that FSG have got his card marked after the problems last season, and a decent offer would not cause the Americans one ounce of trouble accepting.
Hey ho.
Anyway, got my WBA ticket sorted. Maybe there'll be a few new songs to learn by then !

Maybe in some ways its not too bad we have missed out on Sig, he turned his back on Swansea onces BR left because he liked working under BR, then he came out and said he would love to play for LFC, and BR said he would be interested in Sig, then all of a sudden Spurs come in for him and he then turns his back on BR for Spurs (who currently dont even have a manager or assistant!) so maybe he is just that type of player who isnt really too loyal and just goes after money. For me, I want to see players at Anfield who want to be here, who want to chose LFC over other clubs. But another target missed is starting to get quite worrying

29 Jun 2012 14:12:51
ok gilfi going to spurs unless we match the wages there giving him .rameres in talks with juventus ,troare on his way to anzhi so its either we have lost our sex appeal or we were not seriously pushing hard enough lets just pray we can pick the players who can provide that magic the team and supporters want to see .honestly lads we need to get shot of carroll he is hit or miss more times miss lets go after a proven goal scorer we all know who they are but money talks ,craig bellamy to go back to cardiff come on unlike caragher he still has the speed and the brain to create havoc and score goals why let him go?? adam johnston yes please skillful and can open up a defence which we lack so badly come on br bring the class and get rid of dead would leave cole in france he has lost it big time

Cole played amazing in France; why are you saying he has lost it.

PS The full stop goes directly after a word and not before the next. Not this .though

Spurs set to sign Sigurdsson.

29 Jun 2012 14:00:45
Gerrard, our captain, good solid performance at euro's and 1st name on BR team sheet. So who do you play next to him ? Lucas, a world class DM now despite a bad start to lfc career we missed hime sorely last season. Hendo gud cover for Gerrard and I think will shine in couple of seasons. So where wud Sig fit in? He had good season for Swansea but Adam had a great season for Blackpool. I am not bothered if spurs sign Sig i think we need cover for Lucas more than another AM, and upfront cover for the strike force. The wings we need to focus on I think Sig was a target just cos he was available and BR had a bond with him. So If we dont get him no great loss, we have other areas that are priorities. Wanyama,Rondon, Krasic and Moses would add alot to our squad.

29 Jun 2012 13:57:30
Can anyone give an honest assesment of Victor Moses, is he any good? Missed a lot of games that Liverpool weren't involved in last season through work and time difference, hard to get a good picture reading reports after the wkend off various websites. And is Sigurdsson really worth all this attention, seen him play a good few games, he looks ok but don't think he's worth all this fretting if we or Spurs or anybody else signs him! Of course maybe wrong, sure someone out there can give us an idea..

I think it was Edd005? who said he plays with his head down, not looking for the pass etc...
I maybe wrong...

Still cant understand how Sigurdsson has joined Spurs. Is this the same guy who wanted to wait and see who the manager of Swansea will be before deciding to join Swansea or us. Is this the same guy who considered Rodgers to be like a father figure. Absolutely baffing. Sad state of affairs really sad.

29 Jun 2012 13:53:19
why do fans want the club to do its business 'behind closed doors', surely you'd prefer to know what's going on. and will people stop spouting the cliche 'when liverpool has something to announce they will tell us'

Would you rather Harry 'I got 20 minutes spare at the end of every trainin session' Redknapp or Brendan 'i've actually got a job to do' Rodgers?

Ed I am shocked at the fact you think Liverpool will consider 14 million plus krasic for Suarez. It would need to be 50 million or the owners definately wouldn't consider selling. I'm sure they realise if they sell him they will lose a lot of support and risk a serious fan backlash. Would you not agree ed? {Ed002's Note - I did not say that Liverpool would consider such an offer, but that is what Juventus will be looking to open negotiations with. Players are transient. How much support folloed Torres out of the door? Could you ever see a departing statement from Suarez along the lines of "thanking the club and their wonderful fans, but he feels he will never get a fair chance in England whilst the FA don't understand his cultural nuances and force him out." Players come and go, I would expect the fans to be man/woman enough to live with it.}

If I'm honest I think juventus are wasting there time as they can't compete with PSG etc

PSG wont be interested in Suarez anymore. They have got lavezzi, n r very close to getting Higuain.
Indian Buzzer {Ed002's Note - If they get Higuain you're correct about interest in Suarez.}

Eds can we not have a spell checker as I'm having difficulty reading some of these posts? {Ed002's Note - If everyone used Chrome to input the information then the issue could be resolved. We don't have the addition resources available right now.}

Eds......You are missing a trick here. It seems to me that lots of people on here would gladly pay a subscription fee to have you eds bring them exactly what it is they really want to hear !. Would it really kill you Ed002 to have luckily been eating in a Liverpool restaurant at a table that just happened to have been next to a table where John Henry was negotiating with _ _ _ _ _ _ _'s(for full details please subscribe) agent ? P.T Barnum would have made a mint out of them :) {Ed002's Note - Seems like a nifty idea but I can't trust myself not to blurt the missing words out on my Twitter account.}

Right folk's here we go....IF Sigg does go to Spurs then his motive is money not BR or the honour of playing for Lpool so in that case bye bye next target please.Now IF that is the case then I for one am really glad that the club stopped handing out stupid wage's to player's nowhere near worth it.Now IF Sigg is the first casualty of the club saying"No we are not going to pay you that cause your not worth that every week"then great cause it had to stop.Look at the mess the other lot left us in with massive wage's.Tell me what you think Ed's/Fan's but be nice...Thank you all...YNWA!!

He's joining a better team,who have more potential,,,the glamour of playing for a club like liverpool isnt what it used to be,,,same as utd etc,,,the name doesnt get people the way it used

Great post m8 ,very true ,we do pay good wages ,not silly ones ,but let's be far how much extra do there earn if they do well at Liverpool sponsorship world wide fan base ,yes some will get it at other clubs but here at Liverpool it's a massive platform ,not the same as clubs like Newcastle or spurs sorry even then they fin playing a ex red is massive not just in Liverpool!hope you c my point. YNWA lfc linc

It's a bit like buying a house in my opinion. If you have a big family and need space you have to pay market value for that requirement. Transposing that principle over to football, we either pay the market rate for quality or either take chances on unproven potential/ run of the mill journeymen.

Henry & co are obsessed with resale value. How do you interpret that. Do we take Skirtle as an example of this, i.e one good season and the offers come in from the big guns and turn his head. If he goes, it will be an illustration to me of how the owners want to turn us into an Arsenal, low running costs by bringing youth through, selling at a premium when they peak but never winning anything.

Ozone

Did we actually table a bid for Sig? everybody is talking like he chose them over us but if we never actually made a bid for the lad for what ever reason then whats the problem. Maybe one of the Ed's knows if we actually bid? I didn't think we followed up after talking to him and his club.
RNred

I agree with Ozone. Just bcoz a suitable offer comes in for our star players does not mean we have to sell them. Id rather keep skrtel since he is a perfect partner for agger, even though 20 million is a lot of money for him. Selling our star players will send out a wrong message to or fans and potential signings.
Indian Buzzer

It wouldn't be a massive shock if FSG are looking to implement the Arsenal model, seeing as they've had David Dein advising them. Given the direction football is heading with the UEFA Fair Play rules on the horizon, it will be vital that the club is able to operate within its means sooner rather than later.

The only reason Chelsea are able to spend silly money & attract big names in this transfer window is because they won the Champions League. It's make or break for them coz if they don't overhaul their squad now, they'll be in the same situation as us once the rules get implemented.

Sadly, for all our protests, football is about money and business. We'll get back to where we belong, but it will be done on a sound financial basis that will give us long term stability. That might be quite boring and frustrating, but I'd sooner have that than see my beloved team go the way of Rangers

I don't get it. We know were doing the shopping in lidl and not M&S, so are there lots and lots of players we've watched and seem to really want and then someone else goes and we seem not to bother. Perhaps this is why we buy poor players like last year, we let our 1,2,3,4 choice go and end up with downing. Moral of the story if you don't shop in M&S you can't not get your first choice.

Have you shopped in M&S recently- I'm no fashion guru but its more slippers and pipe wearers heaven- we had enough players in this mode last season- the apple shop may be a more appropriate analogy?

Tescos rock&better value......

As far as I remember Downing was a high up target as was Adam - Carroll was being lined up for a summer bid but circustances dictated a Jan bid. The prices paid do not suggest 'Lidl' purchases. These 'targets' you asume we did not bother to compete for are probably all in your head. The moral of the story? Don't read The Sun, The Daily Star or listen to Twitter.

dd

I shop in asda.

MIKEY

So last year in Lidl we found Luis.....
It is not true about M+S, I have been looking for a nice pair of jeans in there...couldnt find my 1st choice in there and then I found my 1st choice pair in Next! Transfer window opens 1st July...not even sure BR has got the squad together yet to assess them.....if you dont know whats broke you cant fix it.

Well Ed's is it just me r do u think it's very unusual for sig to pull out d deal to go to Swansea coz BR left after havin a successful season there to then agree to join a club currently wit no manager. Okay I know AVB is tipped to be appointed but it's strange sig has agreed to joining having never played under him. Is it greed on behalf of sig r havin LFC failed to convince. What is happenin d club we follow so avidly? I know it's early n we have two full months to bring players in but what players are they gonna b? Mid table or title winning players? Great site by the way. To wake first thing in d mornin and check this site cannot be healthy.

Scobie {Ed002's Note - I don't see anything unusual in this at all. Hazard joined Chelsea with no manager.}

Correct - it is entirely usual that Chelsea have no manager.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - I think in the past three years Liverpool have had more managers, and owners, than Chelsea.}

"it's strange sig has agreed to joining having never played under him"

Based on observation, most players moving clubs have not played under the manager of the club they're about to join.

If as expected Sigurdsson moves to Spurs, people need to move on, it's not like he is the only attacking midfielder available

RedSG

But not over the last 10 or over the overall history of both clubs

At ed002, bit unfair to suggest we've had more managers. but, if we're talking calender years haven't chelsea had 6 managers in the last 4 years?
ray wilkins being in charge for one game would theoretically make it 6.
s.p {Ed002's Note - Actually I think I was correct in what I said. If Liverpool adopt the same model perhaps they can achieve the same success?}

Note to fellow supporters, Ed002 is very defensive about Chelsea. It would be advisable to stay clear of the subject if you would like your posts put up.

Myk {Ed002's Note - Try not to show everyone what an idiot you are. What I said was factually correct - not defensive. Defensive is what I am of the Liverpool players when the fans call them "deadwood". Perhaps you should whine at them instead of me?}

This comment is purely for 'Agree' or 'Disagree' with the Ed, i Agree!

I'd rather follow baseball then get success the way Chelsea have done it, despicable football club.

I never said you was incorrect ed002, i was just suggesting that using a 3 year period was favourable to your point. but as i said, if we went with a 4 year period(6 managers) or 5 year period(7 managers) then it was a totally different outcome.

Why is everyone going mental because we hav,nt signed anyone yet? the same people who are slagging the club now because of supposedly losing out on siggardson, de jong etc will be championing the club when we sign another player. How do we really know what players the manager wants? Do we really expect him to look on these forums and see that someone has had x player on football manager who was really good and so he must do all he can to get that player and pay whatever players agent and club wants. Lets get real and leave it to the people who KNOW what they are doing. You tube and all of the rest of the media do not know how good a player will be when in the system that the manager wants to play. How good is the players character? How much trouble will he be? Can he fit into a system? Is he a greedy b***ard? Does he want to play for our club? Would he settle on Merseyside? Many more details before we seal a move. Forget the 5 minute videos to show a players best bits and leave it to the people who know what they are doing. We all think that x or y player would be great for our club, that is why we are not the ones entrusted with picking the team, because we would not get it right. Mike Bassett (England Manager) was,nt real you know. Trust the manager and have a bit of patience. All will be sorted in a couple of weeks.

Hi Eds, if a player has agreed terms and passed a medical, does that prevent the deal from being hijacked by another club? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Are we going to make a late bid? Ed022, stated yesterday night that the problem was not wages, but the transfer fee! Surely brinkmanship is a good way to do business, butwe need this type of player. {Ed002's Note - I don't know if there is any plan from Liverpool to push any harder for Sigurdsson or not.}

Why when it comes to transfers we are so slow

Does it ever go through your mind that maybe , just maybe we are not intrested in the players getting talked about ?

trev d

Why when it comes to transfers are we so IMPATIENT?!

Maybe we just have other targets. Maybe the Transfer Window isnt open yet? Maybe we have just gone back to doing business privately (in the 'Liverpool Way').

FFS, the manager has only been in place for a month! Let him assess then make his moves. Why should we be rushed into making panic signings and pay over the odds, just because Spurs want to pay over the odds for a player who Hoffenheim are happy to release for less than 10m?

Lets get a grip people. The transfer window opens for 2 whole months on 1st July.

29 Jun 2012 12:36:39
What are peoples problems here? Why do you think we are 'missing out on players?'.

BR is only about a month into the job, all the playing staff have been away with national teams or on holiday so the poor bloke doesn't have much of a clue who he feels should stay or go, or areas we need to improve.

If sig goes to spuds, then let him. A decision to join Liverpool shouldn't be made on money, it should be made on JOINING LIVERPOOL - one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Stop moaning, frankly it's embarrassing. Give the man a break, let him make his moves and then judge him.

The Eds deserve some form of OBE/MBE for there services to footy, and to make up for the ENDLESS abuse they get!

am i wrong in saying that rodgers first statement to the fans was something along the lines of dont expect success straight away.and something about some fans just arnt gonna be happy no matter wat.we have seen that... now id say he said the exact same thing to the owners when at the interview and they hired him he done great with a smaller club less money.it was there style of football that got them good results a draw and a win against us a win against arsenal a draw with city and possibly a win against utd now dont roast me if not entirely accurate that was off the top of my head.how can people say he is no good for the job?? please feel free to make a point or disagree id love some feedback thanks..redness

The "Liverpool Way" usually means that everything will be done behind closed doors. Pls do not get excited over names been mentioned. Anything can happen & anyone may join.

There may be a few names that does leak out & I trust we will get that info from the Eds and/or macca.

Also, why are people hating on Charlie Adam? before he signed for LFC you'll were going crazy over him. form comes & goes, talent is forever. Give him time & keep in mind he has been out for a while.

ATD

No one was crazzy over him, everyone dreaded that kenny was and knew that kenny was pushing for him. i hoped than blackpool would ask for 10m so that we would walk away. but what kenny wants he gets. what you reap you saw.

i'd be surprised with BR puts his neck on the line by giving dalglish FAILS chances.

That same liverpool way got our club sold to those american clowns(h&g)- read the book an epic swindle

When did anyone go crazy over Adam signing? 90% of the fans were not happy at all over him coming to us. I lost my faith in Dalglish the day he signed adam n downing. Even a layman could make out they were not big club material. Sig on the other hand will slot in easily at liverpool or spurs.

The transfer window opens 1st july, start worrying at the end of august if Liverpool havent signed anyone

Ed, im a, gutted to hear yet again we have lost of on another top class player is Sigurdsson, it seems a regular occurance we miss out by not going the extra distance to secure teh services of these players. We never replaced Alonso and that has been our downfall. We really need a player like Nuri Sahin, perfect fit and at the right place. We cant be seen as letting players choose rival clubs over us....its not good for future deals. Madrid want Sahin out, persuading him Liverpool is the place to come to is our problem. We desperately need a player in the Pirlo mould. Thanks Ed rant over.

Sigurdsson top class??? He was unheard of this time last year and on the verge of bein pushed out the door at Hoffenheim. Hes a greedy little player who thinks he has become a Stevie G

oooooooohhhhh no liverpool havent gotten sig!! blah blah blah. lets face it if liverpool wanted him that badly liverpool would have put a bid in and signed him as he has stated he wants to play for rodgers. now he has decided that he wants to play for money, as a real liverpool fan i dont want to see a player only here for money as that isnt the liverpool way, if you sign for liverpool you play for the honour of liverpool, the history, the badge, you play for liverpool not for your weekly pay package.
so many fake fans on this web unbelievable, all you do is come on here to moan. if liverpool now go on and sign ramirez ( who i believe is going to be the next best thing ) then you will all be praising and licking the cream from rodgers arse! lets not already judge brendan when:
1. the transfer window isnt open yet.
2. he did the right thing and not give into high wage demands for a charlie adam type unproven player ( for longer then a few months)
3. no-body knows his targets ( maybe he dosent as he hasnt had enough time to asses his team yet).

Here Ed002,
I am surprised some one like yourself does not embrace Twitter.
You can submit countless stories of any old sh*te to newspapers, prefix them all with the line "the internet / twitter is alight with rumours that Liverpool FC are looking at...", end them with a "a LFC spokesman refused to confirm or deny these rumours" and, bingo, there's next week's rent paid for !
Money for old rope.
As it is, you're poacher-turned-gamekeeper.

Or should that be a Guardian Of The Secret Society Of The Shorthand Truth !?
In the words of Mark Twain - "there are only two forces that carry light to all corner of the globe..the sun in the heavens and Associated Press down here".

The Real KB {Ed002's Note - I have never used Twitter KB. I am tempted to start one now.

There are some really neat quotes from Twain of course. The unattributed "The Coldest Winter I Ever Spent Was a Summer in San Francisco" would be the niftiest for me.}

I don't use it either. But you especially could cause havoc on Twitter !
Haha. You could start thousands of rumours and have fun. Although I suppose you'd end up having to answer them all on here afterwards. Lol.
Perhaps when you retire from this site, ed. A new career beckons.
You know what they say now - you're as old as the smart phone you feel !
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - It is tempting. I am travelling for a few days so might open an account and idle away a fews hours in the hotel bar. I will likely use your name on the account KB.}

Ed's should we be worried about missing our transfer targets, or are you confident from your inside knowledge all our dealings are being done in the background and we should have some deals done before pre season starts.

Is BR Handcuffed with budget maybe?? {Ed002's Note - I certainly could not say anything will be completed before pre-season starts next week. I am sure that there will be players arriving and no doubt departing. I am not sure about the targets being missed though - are you referring to Traore and Hazard?}

29 Jun 2012 11:20:09
I would like to add my two cents into the whole Sig saga.
I would have really liked him to have signed for us but knowing that we stood steadfast and adamant that we wouldnt just throw money at him because Spurs payed that little bit extra fills me with immense joy.
He is still upcoming and unproven at a big club like ours as seen with Jordan and others who in my opinion have much more potential.
For him to have been swayed away by a club without a manager because of couple extra bucks in comparance to a manager who lifted him up and gave him that confidence to do what he did at Swansea shows his selfish nature.
Lets say we bowed to his demands and gave him whatever Spurs were offering and he turned out to be somewhat of a success at Anfield and started demanding even crazier wages?
Ultimately, at Liverpool FC, it comes down to players who begin to fall in love with the club, play for the shirt and if things dont go our way, theyre expected to double up the shift and not sulk away like one long haired blonde who we used to worship not too long ago.
Id rather buy a player who is quality but offers us stability and sticks with us whatever the case, through thick and thin and give their all for the cause.
Il end by saying, theres still alot of talent out there, ALOT.
Players with potential usually need a mentor, a guide, and most importantly the tactics that are set need to suit them and the team playing around and in Brendan Rodgers I have full belief! If Joe Allen could end the season with the highest pass completion rate, Nathan Dyer being the messi of the prem (major overstatement lol) and Sinclair who was a flop at Chelsea to have played thier best football in thier careers, whos to say Lucas, Henderson, Carroll cannot??
Cheers
RedSox69

GREAT post. I mean brilliant. You are spot on. The future is bright. I would rather have Sig because he wants to play for us rather than we have better pay.

JitB JFT96

How do you know we stood steadfast, we may just have been outbid?

We should pay what the players want come on play the game

I dont mate, its just a well thought conclusion. What do Spurs have that we dont? In fact, we have much more than they do!
Just because our owners are cautious in thier spending doesnt mean we have no funds!
I hate people making assumptions like John Henry is here to destroy our club, no new stadium etc!
Our owners have a track record in sports. Baseball, Nascar, Football to name a few. In every case they have spent money if they see the VALUE for it!
Fenway sports is a group of very wealthy businessmen who invest in sports to make it a profitable business. Surely, not having any money to do anything would contradict that whole purpose.
And, the transfer window isnt even open yet! Yes other teams have gone out and bought themselves a few quality players but thats because thier managers KNOW their squads and where they need reinforcements! Let BRENDAN RODGERS atleast assess his own squad so he knows what he needs??
Patience fellow reds, I get quite agitated at recurring news but thats how it is.
RedSox69

Great. You could say he was to replace Kuyt but with this attitude he would never replace Kuyt. A great servant willing to run and run and give his all. Sigurdsson might have been give me the money first before you see wha I can do.

We're making assumptions based on press-stories and behaving like spoilt brats. Lets wait until we have something concrete to moan about or who knows, maybe even celebrate! Jeez.

There's only 2 clubs who have agreed a deal and that's not us. Get used to the fact that he's not a top target and we have too many central midfielders.
Red sheep.

Perhaps Rodgers knows something about sig that we don't.

It's in the section at the bottom of the screen under the heading Premier League. Trouble is, there's so much stuff about the Euros that by the time they get to that heading, the ad break come along!

I see the Sigurdson to Tottenham as a step forward; not because we aren't signing a player but because with Rodgers we seem to be finally sticking up for ourselves. We paid 20m for Aqualani and gave him huge wages, we paid Joe Cole huge wages and many players are on very high wages. Rather than do what we used to in paying the huge wages for Siggy Rodgers and the owners will not pay those huge wages for mediocre players. We will still of course pay huge wages for very good players, ala Gerrard or Reina. But in the past where we had Torres and Babel we know have Carroll and Suarez who are probably on half the wages. If we buy younger players then they have a lot less wages, such as Hendo and Carroll or even Coates. Ramirez is probably on smaller wages than what Siggy wanted; he would sell more shirts and would only cost 7-8m more than Sigurdson, which could be recouped from sales and also getting rid of players with high wages; IE if we sell Aquilani or let him go for free then we free up something like £70k per week, £280k per month and 3.36 million a year. Plus the potential 1-3m from him that covers the extra £7 million from Ramirez. It is reported Sigurdson will get £45-60k per week, Ramirez would be on about £40-50k which is 480k saved each year; over 5 years we would save nearly £2.5m excluding pay rises and new contracts blah blah blah Financially getting a south American or African player is more beneficial than older European players, like Aqualani.

I must state I have no information on signing Ramirez but I am using him as an example; you could insert a player like Essien compared to Lampard or Gerrard and Lucas.

I apologize for the long post but to get across my point it was essential to be as detailed and basic as possible.

Thanks,

Ben

Newcastle will buy Luuk de Jong over the weekend, 21 years old, terriffic player - where are our scouts?

I would guess our scouts are attempting to scout players. As far as I'm aware scouts don't buy players, they recommend them.

RedSG

He has better options than Newcastle.

Haaahahah... As far as I'm aware De Jong was identified way, way back & the fella has been discussed at lengh on these pages for many months. I've really got to ask where have YOU been?

To all the Sig moaners. Just remember Sig was a journeyman until BR saw something useful in him and integrated him into his Swansea blueprint . With the greatest respect to Swansea BR no longer has to shop at poundstretcher. BR may not be able to shopping at Harrods but I have every confidence that BR can spot a better calibre of player who will fulfil a role at Anfield similar to what Sig fulfilled at Swansea last season. The squad is crying out for pace in central midfield and that is not something which Sig is blessed with. Reality Red {Ed002's Note - So you think a six month loan at Swansea stopped him being a "journeyman"?}

So are we talking about Waitrose or Tesco?

I think we got Carroll, Henderson, Downing and Adam at Poundstretcher - and we were robbed!!

I think if we went to Poundstretcher when their sale was on (buy one get one free) and bought Carroll, Henderson, Downing and Adam we would still have been robbed!!

At LFC BR can shop at Aldi

If he were at chelsea, Utd, OR City he could shop in Harrods

look, for the last time and i'll use capitals to shout out the message. the season's not long finished and the transfer window's not yet open.
this added to the fact that liverpool do their business in private means that absolutely no info will become available until deals are done.
just because there's no info coming out of the club doesn't mean that there isn't a flurry of activity going on to get deals done.
please be patient everyone and stop with the negativity.

You promise us capitals and don't give us any?
Why aren't we getting anything at the moment!

Joy looks like losing out on Ramirez And Sigi.We always seem to be linked with or track players for a huge amount of time before any deal.And others nip in.Ok agents play big part,but we do appear indecisive in our decision making.Or is it our process in tieing all redtape tpgether is more elongated than others?

Newcastle going to get De Jong. We've missed out again. Hopefully Rodgers does work after the Euros..

We haven't missed out, maybe BR doesn't want De Jong?

hope you post this one.

cheers
Miccmak {Ed002's Note - Things like that because it is largely rubbish. To criticise editors for telling you something which is correct - Cavani not joining, Hazard not joining, Aguero not joining, etc. is pretty unacceptable to us. Whilst it might make you feel better if I said that Mata, Rooney and Torres will be joining Liverpool this summer it is simply not true and will piss off everyone else. I would strongly recommend you look elsewhere for your kicks.}

Sorry if I made an upsetting comment. I also know players like cavani etc are off the limits to liverpool. and i also know 95% of the rumours are false. but i also know that if Agger and suarez said they want to be here, I should believe them unlike your suggestions. and lets face it, you don't always get it wrong. so to ask for the credibility of your sources isn't disrespecting you. my general understanding is it is very hard to get any information from liverpool. you don't who BR is after. or may be you do. am just asking if you know better than those tabloids.
i said pessimist because simply it is easier for you to believe that players like sincclair, dempsy, tomkins, defoe, mosses are likey to join us than better players like adam johnson, affellay, ramirez etc. am not saying we can compete with the big guns but the clubs who we used to buy players from are more attractive than us according to you.

thanks
Miccmak

{Ed002's Note - Obviously I admitted I was wrong about Suarez, Coates and Marveaux. Are you man enough to admit I got the following (and many more) correct? Dalglish, Coentrao, Alexis Sanchez, Young, Neymar, Ganso, Falcao, Canales, Dzsudzsak, Gomez, Taiwo, Tevez, Alves, Cavani, Goetze, Hulk, Ilicic, Iturbe, Klose, Lucas Paizon, Lucas Moura, Martinez, Muller, Higuain, Hummels, Neymar, Pato, Sneijder, Wolfwinkel, Adebayor, Reus, Ribery, Aguero, Bastos, Costa, De Federico, Defour, Torres, Demba Ba, Eriksen, Forlan, Hazard, Jose Angel Valdes, Lamela, Lavezzi, Lucas Ocampos, Malouda, Nasri, Navas, Ninis, Higuain, Nolito, Oezil, Menez, Modric, Pastore, Pjanic, Robben, Subotic, Vargas, Vidal, Banega, Barrios, Benzema, Cazorla, Clichy, De Bruyne, Etoo, Godin, De Gea, Elia, Enrique, Adam, Hernandez and Jovetic. Perhaps we could go through and discuss each one individually?

So let's go through your examples. Can you please point me toward where I said that Sinclair, Tomkins and Defoe will be joining? As for Moses, there is interest. Dempsey there might well be interest. I have said of Afellay: "Italy looks like one option available to him if he is sold and there may be interest from the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle." I have also explained that I would not be at all surprised to see interest in Ramirez, particularly if Suarez is sold.

So are you posting these lies simply in an attempt to discredit me in front of the Liverpool fans?}

There's only a couple of people that try to mug you off and disrespect you eds the rest of us appreciate you sharing your info with us. Red89

Aslong as we get someone decent, I don't care that we missed out on Siggurdson. There are plenty of players out there and just because we don't sign them all doesn't mean we're a small club. We will try and sign players, but we aren't the only club in the world and we will no longer be held at ransom by greedy agents.

Look at Newcastle, they got top quality players but no doubt did they miss out on a load. They were patient and realised that you don't have to accept the other clubs demands. There are a lot of players out there and we still have options.

We could have got sigardson if we actually wanted but he was obviously not top target which suggests we may be goin for Ramirez.

hi all.
i am fearful now that we may well not be able to attract talent to play for usin all my 45 years of supporting lfc i have thought like this we got a bright young manager but seems like the poor guy going to have to work with the stagnant dross we shipped in last summer .
please be aware i hate posting this make me feel sick in the pit of my stomach .
sorry for this post folks i hate it. mal {Ed002's Note - I think if we give Rodgers a break and give him a chance to assess what he has in the squad, find out who would like to move on and then look at who is available and who he would like, perhaps then everyone will go into the season at least slightly hopeful.}

It's just a case of patience! Some supporters will give him very little time, others will give him more. Most people here posting cr*p aren't even prepared to give him until the f-ing window has even opened! That's gotta be the definition of impatience! C'mon! Give the man some time to work!

Nick

{Ed002's Note - I think if "we" give Rodgers a break

Huh 002 is a convert :O

Ben {Ed002's Note - I was thinking of the web site Ben, but now he has missed out on Traore no doubt he is in for some further trashing.}

Totally agree Ed002. Rodgers needs time to see the squad, decide on the formation that best suits the players he has and rates and then look at some targets for positions we lack quality in. Swansea didn't play with out and out wingers so we may not need to bring in wide players for the formation Rodgers wants to play. Patience is key. Maybe not immediately but I think LFC will be good to watch again soon.

we should have sold downing and got him off the wage bill , maybe then we could have got GS , as i think downing is a very poor player , 20 mill still make my eyes water , at least henderson can improve , im not too sure about carrol aswell can he become a 20 goal a season stiker , i doubt it ,,,,,,,,mickey b

Carroll may never get 20 goals a season, but if he can get 15-20 a season, assist for Suarez and others a lot and just generally upset defenders with his presence over the next 10 years that will be 35 mil well spent.

G BOX

Seriously Mate why bother posting this crap you keep posting. I cringe anytime i see your posts there so negative and full of crap I don't even see why I'm bothering to write back. In relation to Downing he created a lot of chances last season and was unlucky there was nobody on the end of them. Admittedly there needs to be improvement from him but I wouldn't write him off. What ever happened to supporting your club and the players that play for them? Andy Carroll needs to be given time to come good the lad didn't ask to be bought for 35mil did he. I think you left one person out of your post KENNY DAGLISH he is the common denominator in all this. No disrespect to the man but he probably should have stayed at home... Brendan Rodgers seems to have a better footballing mentality then Kenny and this will bring out the best of the players I'll be sure of that.

Quigz23

I also feel downing deserves another shot and certainly if joe cole does i hope you guys can come on here and apolagise if he does start playing well because i will if he doesnt.kenny is a great man and has done more for this club than anyone in my lifetime but his style of management belongs twenty years back we just seemed off the pace with him there feel free to verbally b*tch slap me if you want.

I gotta say i hate negative posts, but downing needs critisicing! i feel critisicing him is getting behind your team as a team like liverpool need better then downing.
weymouth red

Kenny was asked to come in and manage at a very difficult time for the club. i think he did a fantastic job for Liverpool and for you to put the blame on him is ridiculous.
NZL_red

Quigz23 , just because my opinion is different from yours , it does not make mine negative , i was pointing out a few home truths ,which some people do not like , to the ones who think downing needs another chance tell me why , is he new to the prem , no he is not , so why , i watched him in a few games and he is a lazy player when tracking back , enrique got loads of stick but should'nt a winger help his full back out , downing went glory hunting last season , he had the most shots in the prem , more than any other play , and he never scored one prem league goal , so he clearly never put that many quality crosses over , maybe i can just see his weaknesses and you cant , ive mentioned kenny before , just because some of my post are negative it does not mean i dont support my team , i just dont like bad players or finishing so low in the prem and finishing below everton ,if you want to accept mediocre dross thats your look out , downing will never be a liverpool type of player , and his work rate is poor , you may accept it but i dont

I do agree that a lot more work needs to be done and can appreciate that downing was pretty much awful last season but the lad is a good footballer at time and should at least be given until Christmas to sort out his form. In relation to his crossing he put in a serious ammout of great balls in the box but we were either playing too far back with not enough bodies in the box or plain and simple the finish just wasn't there. I also agree that he needs to track back more to help Enrique out. I just think that the lad deserves another chance. Appologies for the rant at the start of last post and I can assure you as Liverpool football club it is not acceptable to finish below everton ask kk lol and sooner rather then later we will be back on our perch as best in the epl... Patience. Why are fans panicking like this? Crying will not help us at all, lets rally behind our team unconditionally. It will take proper planning, prudence and wise decisions to get back to the top as we cannot obviously do that with money, as we are way down City, Chelsea, Man U on that front.

Its sad state of affairs when our manager cannot convince the player hes had at every club to come join him at one of the biggest clubs in the world. We were discussing about 2 months ago that we needed a manager with pulling power,everyone was talking about great managers who can pull in this player and that player etc. but when br name was mention everyone said he got no pulling power but at least he would bring sig with him. well if he cannot bring in sig hes not going bring any of other names mention in these posts. its going to be a long summer :(

Please, please, get real. We used to be one of biggest clubs in the world but not now. Lets face it we have Brendan who as manager.

Do you not think if we actually wanted him we have bid?

1 - Rodgers signed Sigurdsson when he was at Swansea so he obviously has got pulling power.

2 - Spurs have no manager so Sigurdsson obviously interested in who the manager of of the team he plays for is, but cares more about the wage he is going to receive.

3 - why would you want someone to sign for the club because of who the manager is? I want players who want to play for the club and for the shirt.

JRG

His head probably swelled when he got the offer that means deep down he probably dont believe hes good enough for the mighty pool and we dont need more players who is gonna do a poo when that jersey slides on.

29 Jun 2012 09:27:59
with all this talk about sig going to spuds, stuff it! we got plenty other names on the list. no one knows if any player will be good until they play. they could be the best player in the world but if he cant gel to the others, it wont work!
besides, we all were getting ready to have martinez as manager until that changed at last minute so lets wait and see what happens. he has until midnight 2moro to report his action to hoffienen(spelling) dont he?

29 Jun 2012 09:21:47
its like last january all over again we all knew we needed a stiker , and what happend the owners said theres money there but for some reason we never got one and look were we ended in the prem , all the other teams bought players last season everton bought jelavic and he fired them up the table and newcastle bought papis cisse and both of them finished above us , have the fans forgot that everton finished above us because i bet their fans have not ,,,,,,mickey b

p.s. the owners need to write last season off and start again or just sell the club to someone who knows how the transfer window works and how and when to buy players , as in not buying a striker when we needed one

I'm not sure that you know how the transfer window works, you must realise its not open yet?

So we need a stikerť or should that be a stinkerť - oh yes, we bought one, his name is ANDY CARROLL - what a waste of 35m.

Pre-school ramble.

There was no available in January for us.... Jelavic and Cisse would not be good enough in the long run, I've seen both before the prem and I'm willing to bet they don't set the prem alight next year.

Stop slagging off the owners, I thought LFC fans were supposed to be the most intelligent in the world? More like the most impatient and biggest moaners.

G BOX

I'm pretty sure that if BR went to the board and identified players he wants, then efforts would be made to get them, and pay the appropriate price and wages.
To make money FSG need us to be successful.

John B

Ohhh everton finished above us boo hoo they have an excellent manager so wat now we do and were gonna have mancini and fergie rattling when we start to find our feet it might take a month to get totally at ease cause the euros and olympics but we will be good

29 Jun 2012 09:10:02
it realy does say something about our transfer policies when a team can get a player we want when they dont even have a manager , ok the wages may have been better but how can he be gauranteed first team football without a manager , and how will the player fit into the manager s plans , i dont want to think or sound all doom and gloom eds but come on sigg to spurs when they dont even have a manager ,it shows the state of our transfers , if we have any ,

And you are sure we could offer him a guaranteed starting place. Don't forget he's Icelandic, not many success stories from that part of the world at the top level.
Not saying he might not be the first ( after Gudjohnson maybe ).

He would have been a good addition perhaps, but he would only have been a squad player at best.

John B

No, it says more about the greed of the player and his agent. He's been dazzled with the offer of a big salary and the potential appointment of AVB and now thinks he's guaranteed a starting place. Van der Vaart hasn't even left yet and he may yet be convinced to stay.

Bear in mind, 3 weeks ago, he was on the verge of joining Swansea for half of what Spurs have offered and would've put pen to paper if Rodgers had stayed. Pure greed.

If it all goes pear-shaped tor him, he's only got himself to blame.

Its sad to say but now Tottenham are a bigger club than us.

Spurs are to be taken over by some very rich people quite soon, hense the reason Sig jumped on board...!

Chelsea were taken over, big players signed and titles won.

City taken over, big players signed and title won.

Liverpool taken over TWICE, no big players signed and no where near the title.

I am very depressed :(

Paul.

Worst post of the day and it's only 10...

May be so, but why should that bother us? We are LFC, and we will have to outsmart and outmanouvre our opponents one way or the other. Prudent planning, and astute and wise decisions are the best way to re-establish ourselves again, its clear to me that FSG's philosophy is now on wise spending, cost cutting, strengthening youth/academy and have already hired a Manager who can manage transition of youth into the set up. That will obviously require reinforcing the team (but not with huge amounts like 100mil pounds), which imo will not happen.

I have a feeling that we are in for exciting times again, when no one will give us any chance; we will surprise them all. All we need is a to sign a target man who can bang them in, a creative midfielder, and good wing players and we will be in the reckoning.

Mos

Obviously Torres and Suarez, from both Regimes are not good players, or Reina, Agger, Glen Johnson, or any of the youngsters such as Suso, Shelvey or Hendo.

Idiot?

Ben

@Mos. We aren't going to outsmart or outmanouvre anybody with these FSG clowns in charge. We are now consined to mid-table mediocrity I'm afraid. Stop blowing sunshine up John Henry's a*se and WAKE UP!

"Liverpool taken over TWICE, no big players signed and no where near the title."

so signing torres, alonso, reina, suarez, mascherano etc just off the top of my head and a 2nd place finish where we threw the league away rather than man u winning it means no big signings and nowhere near a title, you sir are a tit

Not a Banker by chance are ya?

well well well, SS reporting Sigurrdson has passed Spurs medical, I dont think the point is that hes obviously been offered more money, id be more worried that we cant attract a player in the average to pretty good standard before Tottenham when they dont catually have a manager and we do.........blah blah blah not giving into wage demands.....we all know about that one it gets rolled out every year by most clubs that dont finish top four.......sorry but its the same as any business, if you want your targets and you want the right people sometimes you have to pay over the odds its just the way of the world.....All this not the LFC way tripe has to stop, its exactly why weve been rooted in the very distant past for years.......
Transfer window opens in 2 days lets hope Ramirez dosnt turn out to be ANOTHER one of our long term rumours that comes to absolutely nothing....Hazard..etc etc etc........
Im all for patience and i always look at things rationally but we are very slow at getting a grip on transfers...are we sure Parry isnt still knocking about?.....
Come on Mr Rodgers flex that chequebook and get rid of some deadwood! the new season needs to one to look forward to!
The Guv 81-9 YNWA JFT96....Impatient

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps he was put off by the fans that have so little respect for the players who do move to Liverpool that they refer to them as "deadwood".}

All for patience? Like any business pay over the odds ? Because the most successful company's always have more outgoing than incoming... Rodgers has not met the f-ing squad yet, this is not FIFA or FM, if we miss out on Sigi so be it, we will have other players lined up, I for one am glad we are offering him a package and sticking to it, we will sign players who we want but most importantly wants to play for LFC.

Best answer from the eds ever - I'm even surprised BR hasn't left and FSG put us into administration with the type of support shown on this site. I just hope prospective purchases, and even current players don't read this site. We wouldn't have enough players left to play in the Conference.

what I think fsg should do is give brendan rodgers a big transfer kitty but as part of it say they want a world class player.

i think they should buy:
1) sissoko 12million. long term replacement for gerrard.
2) elia 6million. for 6million you cannot go wrong considering back in january 2011, hamburg wanted 14 million for him.
3) gaston ramirez 17million. Seen the boy play and he is very creative and intelligent and would be a great investment.
4) affelay 6million. Affelay may have had injury problems in the past but everytime he plays he put a lot of work in. he would be the ideal attacking midfielder if we lose sigurdsson to spurs.

Ramirez Munian and rondon will do lovely.

Said it before, say it again, our owners are not interested in the English Premier League.

Not interested in the premier league ? Just like throwing money away for nothing then?

Gutted why? Because a half decent player went to Spurs for money. Hit yourself a good slap mate, money talks. I'm glad BR didn't cave in to Sig's 'astronomical' wage demands.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

If he's chosen Spurs it's for money. In that case we don't want him anyway. So no loss in my eyes.
KJS

So the kid has chosen to play for Spurs over Liverpool because Spurs offered more money? Even though:

- Spurs have no manager and he doesn't even know whether he will fit into the new managers plans.

- Spurs are losing Modric, Adebayor, Saha and possibly Van Der Vaart from last seasons team.

- He played under Brendan Rodgers at Swansea and knows the manager rates him and knows where/how to play him.

Do we really want to be offering players like this 70K a week? They are not interested in the club but only money - we have spent the last two years getting rid of players like this.

Forget him and move on.

JRG

Gaston Ramirez is a far better player plus I doubt even with all the interest in him that he will want that sort of money. Sigardson would of been a good addition but Ramirez would be a world class signing.

I very much doubt Siggurdson would of started for us so there would be no point in giving him large wages. Atleast this shows we have better players than Spurs.

Well said Blair couldnt agree more...steve

sly reporting that sig to be announced as a spurs player next week after passing a medical and agreeing terms. dave

Wouldn't lose sleep over Sig. Would have loved him to be a Red, but if he prefers money elsewhere thats his choice and that a loss. Besides, there are good, if not better players that could be signed on.

Gylfi passed medical and agreed terms with Spurs according to Sly sports news

Hello All,
A quick question for the eds. it seems were being linked to every midfield / winger from here to timbuck too again but my question is who do you actually think we will realease / sell from our current squad to make room for these countless new arrivals? all the best
Van Shep {Ed005's Note - Regardless of who we sign I can see Maxi, Aquilani and Joe Cole being the ones we atleast try to sell.}

I wonder if those rumors of an alleged agreement with gaston ramirez and also talk about forced Sigurdsson

29 Jun 2012 03:36:08
It's funny how people are saying Sigurdsson to Spuds is a done deal when
A: Tottenham still haven't publicly announced their new manager yet as media speculation would have us believe it is still a 2 horse race.
B: The players transfer can't be completed until the 1st of July anyway.

Daniel Levy signs players for spurs, not the manager. Wont be too disappointed if sig goes to spurs. Atleast we might have a better chance of getting ramirez.

Why is it that we're reportedly going to pay 20 million for a player yet not willing to pay the wages of Sigurdsson? It would probably be cheaper in the long run to pay for Sigurdsson. Ramirez honestly doesn't look that good, I don't see what all the hype is about. Would much rather Gylfi.. {Ed005's Note - It's all about quality mate and how BR rates them as individual players. I think Sigurdsson is a quality player mate - with loads of potential aswell but as of yet he's not worth 70k+ per week. Say we give him that and it doesn't work out - he'll be hard to shift say like J.Cole? Ramirez on the other hand is a better player with the potential to be a top class player.}

Ramirez doesn't look good. Are you serious I will be doing back flips for a week if he joins.

I think the poster got the names the wrong way round.

sorry guys just have to say this but can everyonr stop saying liverpool have signed this and signed that i now state only expect a deal when the player has agreeded terms not cause a team is linked with someone

{Ed002's Note - It is a direct consequence of the advent of the Twitter generation.}

29 Jun 2012 03:08:07
ok guys im just thinking here that totthnam will offer sigursson £70.000 a week to play for them liverpool dont need any mid fielders they need the likes of elia krasic adam johnson victor moses they just need that service to carrol and suarez what you reckond eds ? {Ed005's Note - Sigurdsson isn't a midfielder. But we need a player of his type. An attacking midfielder who is creative.}

We need gaston Ramirez who will become world class.

29 Jun 2012 02:26:04
What the heck are we going to do with a 6ft 8inch striker, when we struggle to supply the current 6ft 4inch one.
Surely this can't be serious.
{Ed005's Note - Traore is actually quite quick - from what I've seen he's as quick as Suarez - certainly quicker off the mark. He's a pretty good finisher aswell. That's all I know.}

Also, who in the premier league could stop him? I reckon if we get him he won't be a first team player but could make a name for himself in the Europa league/ Carling cup. We need a back up striker and he'd fit the role perfectly

I think BR has seen how many goals from headers occur and if we can supply crosses like Gerrard has been doing in the Euros we'll be scoring 3-4 a game.

Eds,
I have a couple of questions, if you'd be so kind to indulge:
1) When talking about players wages being x pounds per week, would i be correct in saying this is over a 52 week year, as opposed to per week over the duration of a season?
2) RTFP. Refer to ? posts? Undoubtedly this alludes to referring to previous posts, but for the life of me I can not fathom what the effin F stands for.

Regards, {Ed005's Note - Yep mate over a 52 week year.}

Hey Eds and fellow reds.
I was just wondering, seen as we are being linked with Italian players and alot of players in the Italian league, can anyone think of Italians that have done well in the premier league? The only person I can think of is Di Canio off the top of my head.
Thanks
LFC Eire

One Gianfranco Zola wasn't bad

Ravanelli

Coxy82

Zola was exceptional, Di Matteo,
Ravanelli was good for a season, Cudicini, Vialli and my personal favourite Taibi.

Erm...I vaguely recall a little fella who played for Chelsea, who was half decent. Went by the name of Zola!!?!

Massimo Taibi! Hilarious

Kalou and Sturidge linked with Liverpool this summer I personally think we should look at Adam Johnson also Ivorian striker Seydou Doumbia who is premier league bound after being top scorer in Russia last season (only rumours)

Adam Johnson
Yes
Or
No?
He's a bit of a machine better than downing and younger

Arsenal sell Denilson, Carlos Vela, Sebastien Squillaci, Andrey Arshavin, Nicklas Bendtner, Marouane Chamakh, Park Chu-young and Johan Djourou in a attempt to cut the club's wage bill. They seem to be over stocked on players at the moment.

I think Denílson Pereira Neves, Age 24, Brazilian, on loan with San Paulo is worth £4.4m. I think he could become a good squad player for liverpool. He might not be top draw, but he seems to be very good at mirroring better midfielders or in other words he is as good or as bad as the guy next to him in center midfield

Nicklas Bendtner
Stephane Sessegnon
Junior Hoilett
Emmanuel Adebayor
Victor Moses
Matt Jarvis

Their are a few player walking in the premiership that are better than the guys we have. We can't get champions league players so we should be looking at getting good quality squad players what didn't make it at champions league clubs.

And with most of those players, we will never reclaim champions league spot!

Ed., this can't be the school kids at this time of night...

Maybe one to many Babyshams?!

Sigurdsson dead line is 30th june. Come 30th Hoffenheim want to know what the player is doing

If an agreement is in place by then and the buying club contact Hoffenheim, then he won't have to return to the club. However, it may be a week or so by the time we hear anything. He may well not return to Hoffenheim, but we won't know which club has signed him until it is announced, which is why i'm quite confident it's us, we never leak information and Babbel knows that, so the fact that he may have already made an agreement with a club, and it's not been announced yet just smells of LFC!

28 Jun 2012 23:39:24
why is everyon flapping over sigurdsson, if he dosent want to play for us then let him be.....i would rather have one player that wants to wear the red shirt than ten who dont!!....remember lee bowyer?? if his head is turned by money rather than wanting to play for the club/manager then he can do one as far as i'm concerned.

For god sake Petric has joined Fulham now, thats another player we haven't signed, we've could have put him on ridiculous wages, weve missed out again. We might not have been after him, but I read on a random site that we were interested so I take that as gospel and now I really wanted him.

Why aren't LFC spending stupid money on players like they did last season, cause I want to moan at the end of the season if they don't perform, then near the transfer window I want to moan again because LFC havent spent stupid money or given stupid wages to players, god LFC don't care about me, I never get my own way.

For those people who are having a go at LFC, their owners or BR that was sarcasm, just thought I would point it out.

SA
(PS See what I did their I signed my post, so that people who don't agree with it can have a go at me. But you see I dont mind that, cause everyones entitled to their opinion, but people who post daft posts having a go at the club and don't sign deserve to get mocked.)

If everyone is entitled to their own opinion, then why post a sarcastic comment to ridicule peoples opinions. If you can't browse through the posts and enjoy them for what they are, (rumours and comments) then don't browse.

P.s - There could be a chance that we can sign Petric straight away from FULHAM for 150 million. My dogs cousin told me. Haha.

Agreed
derryred

Ok fair enough my post wasnt the best way to explain my point, so i apologise for that. Im just tired of people slagging off the owners and BR.

These are the people who saved us when we were days away from administration, they got rid of the cowboys who actually were screwing the club. But all people can do is have a go at them for not spending like they are oil barrens. What have they actually done that is so bad? We're not going to be able to spend like chelsea or man city and people need to accept that. They're trying to run the club in a sensible way and look at making sure the club doesnt go down the Leeds, Portsmouth and god forbid the Rangers route.

And as for BR, he has been in the job what a month, 2 months, he hasnt even met the squad yet. Please give him a chance, cause I think he could do well, if given time. That is one thing that always made me proud to be a LFC supporter, we understood that things take time, success doesnt happen over night and we gave managers a chance to put things right, to get it right.

Well if it's a case of money and not football than Spurs can have Sigg and am so happy that BR and the club are not bending over for player's and their high wage demand's....YNWA!!

Sigg will join spurs to fill center midfield position, modric will move to man utd to cover scholes position and we will all live happily ever after
