We have played some good football this year, but we also did last year as well, plus we did not look near as wide open defensively this year as last year

There is always a turning point in a season and Im beginning to get a sense that the villa and stoke performances may be the turning point, its the third time that we have conceded 3 goals ( and they are against weak teams that wont be challenging for top 4)

Allen as a player i like, but brendan shouldnt be getting praise for the young players, that is down to Rafa he implemented big changes years ago and brendan is reaping the rewards

The longer we go without getting back into the top 4 we arent going to attract any top quality players, and at the moment the only way we will get back there is if some new owner comes in with huge amounts of cash to spend

All Rodgers signings so far have been players he has worked with, does this show a limitation in his knowledge of players across europe

Rodgers has shown backbone when it comes to contract negotiations and has shown that he only wants players who wanna come here and play football and not come for the money as their first port of call * sturridge, siggurdesen not signed because he wanted more money

At the minute we are behind the 2 manchesters, chelsea, arsenal, spurs, everton putting us finishing 7th maybe 8th if we dont improve in the 2nd half of the year

Im gonna hold real judgment til the end of the year, with the hope that the points per game increases dramatically from the 1.3 per game at the minute

I can't wait
RB

Last year 2 finals, 1 cup ad 8th in the league wasnt goodenough.
This year i cant see any finals and we will be lucky to finish 8th but then theres those who say buck was worth it so go figure!

There is usually a turning point, at the moment we turn back and forth from game to game. But we are due a good un tommorrow - Suarez hatrick on the cards

Reaching a league cup finals and beating a champoinship team in penalties??...
success...progress??
disgusting....

Dont understand why alan hansen is defending bales diving? hes awful for it. Today yeah there was knee contact, but i didnt know having a clip on the knee, made both legs straighten, and your toes point. Hes a diving cheating tssoer.
The annoying thing is, how hes created a story and defends it, "oh when i run so fast the slightest clip knocks me over"
What a load of nonsense. Glad hes got a 1 game ban.
Benny baller

I watched it live on tv and thought he dived...watched it in slo-mo on MOTD....and STILL think he dived! but to be fair, he gets in these positions coz he is an unbelievably good player!
sivy1001

Lad in all fairness i believe that he shouldn't have been booked for diving there because diving is done without contact, forgive me if i'm wrong i don't know the exact rule regarding it, but if that were luis suarez then we'd have a stack of fans on here crying about how he is victimized.
derryred

Sivvy, i agree, he is fantastic and thats why he gets fouled. Derry, when ever suarez has dived ive condemned him, its my pet hate. But the difference is, suarez got flack for it and too his credit has stayed on his feet alot more. Bale should of been booked because of how he made the most out of it to gain an advantage. (the pen) . 5 yellow cards this season, all or diving, the lad wont change.

Lets all remember that the trailing leg contact was pretty much patented by our own Stevie G.

29 Dec 2012 23:35:03
bit of a wild one but does anyone know any transfer news about Bastian Oczipka? Heard he's been in red hot form this season and left back is a position i think Rodgers said needs strengthening {Ed002's Note - No chance.}

Why not Ed002? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have shown no interest in him and he only moved this summer as I recall.}

29 Dec 2012 23:33:48
Just a bit of fun but who do you think will score more goals for us January onwards; borini or sturidge?
Everyone seems to have written off or forgot about borini but he will be getting some game time at the expense of sterling IMO. I think it will be close but I will say sturidge.

MIKEY

Borini will just be back from an injury so it will take a while to regain match sharpness. Maybe february or march the competition will be closer.
derryred

Sturridge, because he has confidence...borini has none.

Well he needs to play borini down the middle for me, he's been played completely out of position- you haven't seen the best of borini playing out wide. & Sturridge talented as he is, needs to get involved within a team game (passing) but I think both will be good for us, just both will need some time to gel in

Hi eds have liverpool ever been interested in russell martin, he scored 2 goals today and would be a good buy for us as we currently lack goalscorers, in all seriousnes have we any chance albe-it very slight we could sign honda or aubemyang thanks dave {Ed002's Note - You really need to try the search function Dave.}

30 Dec 2012 00:56:01
He looks like Joe Hart did when he went out on loan, flashes of brilliance interspersed with the mistakes of youth. He could be anything....

29 Dec 2012 22:49:17
Hey eds and reds, i see all this talk of butland coming in, i was just wondering could any of the eds or other fans tell me just how good he is?
I seen him play 1 game against brazil and he was unbelievable but was it just a once off?cheers

Quinner

In all honestly m8 he is not brilliant at the moment but no doubt has the talent i would buy him for £6m loan him back til the end of the season and then loan him to an Epl side next season to get experience and when he comes back to us he would have experience and also be more maturer and would be an understudy to Reina for a year before becoming our new No.1

BigD

One thing I think is a problem with butland is, he's not too clever with his feet- seen him kick out horribly quite often

29 Dec 2012 22:20:04
Reina needs to go for me! Butland in! Any CF will be great if experienced and can finfmdctge onion-bag! Walcott, Sturridge maybe! Ince- No!

With people suggesting rogers is the right man and some arguing that he should be removed from his position i would like to know what peoples thoughts on the fact that we could finish tomorrows match on 25 points from 20 games isnt that the exact same as hodgson when he was sacked?

Yes but hodgson has torres, kuyt, maxi, meireles, kyrgiakos, aurelio, mascheranl and more at his disposal

BR has ha 1 striker a 17 year old and his only signing has had to play out of position covering for an injured lucas

Only been half a season maybe Results will get better rather than KD where it was spiralling out of control b4 he was sacked

Well how come BR has only one striker? And what did he do with his trnsfer kitty and player sales? What happened to torres and maxi and bellami ? Why didnt he replace those who left?
Supporting BR witb excuses means you hoping

KD is far better than BR like RB with RH.
Its just impatent fans ruining this club by demanding change all the time

Mascherano didn;t play for Hodgson, he refused to come back from holiday and train and so engineered his release.

Meireles replaced Mascherano.

Is a demotivated half injured Torres better than current Suarez? I think not.

Aurelio - injured for Hodgson
Kgyriakos - Are you joking?

Mash played at least 1 game for uncle Roy against the arsenal

Hey, not really a rumour but did anyone else know that Kaka's dad supported Liverpool from when he was 8? and that kenny dalglish give him a Liverpool shirt when he was sick. I just found out myself so i thought id let everyone know!:)

Jay-D

I'm expecting Kaka's dad to be posting on here any day soon, slagging off Rodgers and Shelvey.

Well Played!!

It doesn't mean much! Maradonna played and fell in love with spurs and being aguero's father in law could have said go to spurs? Now its about agents {Ed002's Note - Maradona did not play for Spurs.}

Mqradona said liverpool was his favourite english team and he nearly joined us... but i see your point

Hi ed,
Did maradona nearly join liverpool?
Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Maradona like all professional footballers is a life-long Liverpool supporter. Again, like all professional footballers Maradona nearly joined Liverpool but the owners, FSG, failed to pay that extra £1M Blackpool wanted for the transfer to go through. Like all professional footballs who didn't join Liverpool, Maradona is on the list of players that Liverpool just missed out on.}

29 Dec 2012 21:57:18
Hi Eds. If all of the paperwork was done, would Sturbridge be eligible to play on Wednesday 2nd of January vs Sunderland?

Thanks Ghandi Floss {Ed002's Note - I think you answered you own question.}

Look thanks Ed

Thanks Gandhi Floss

My wish list:
1 left back
1 CD
2 Mids
2 striker

U sure u dont wanna through in a right back and goalkeeper aswell?

And maybe a new manager lol

Dk London

1)Left backs: Enrique, Robinson
2)What is a CD?
3)gerrard, Lucas, Allen, sahin, shelvey, Henderson...
4) sturridge and maybe ince

Seems to tick all the boxes.

CD is a disc you put in a machine and it play's music! CD in footballing term's mean's central defender!

29 Dec 2012 20:56:12
Most of the blame should be pointed at Kenny for the position we are in. 35m for Carroll, 20m for Downing, 16m for Henderson? The guy wasted a lot of money on poor buys.

Eric Djemba djemba
David Bellion
Fabian Barthez
Massimo Taibi
Juan Veron
Anderson
Nani
Bebe etc etc etc........Think you should be able to switch the one brain cell on and see were i'm going with this!

Waro

How can it be kennys fault , we made 2 finals won one .we won't get anywhere near that this year. .
chrissy

Every club wasted money....some of them challenge for titles and glorries year in and year out....
and those club have execption...
we didnt had much resource...we should have invested rightly...

Waro, while you point has some validity, is there any need for the 'brain cell' comment? Kenny's management saw some overly expensive buys, I dont think anyone disagrees with that and as you point out, so has Fergie.

Andy K

29 Dec 2012 22:49:57
Kenny blew the GDP of a small country in a few months not seasons like the Utd player's you've put down. Stop trying to defend the indefensible because if it hadn't of been someone as revered as Kenny who really did jizz away a chance to get back in the same top echelon of the Premier league and the stick anyone else would've got had they done the same thing would've been tenfold. Turan, Honda, Merthens even Cazorla are players we could've bought and afforded their wages. It was scary his second spell in charge on so many damn levels. Legend or not he put us back a few years at least.
JohnBoy

Difference us waro those players helped united win titles

Abd we only had 1 shot at splashing all our money from the sales of our players and it got wasted

Thts why only clubs like west ham, stoke and middlesbrough are interested in buying our players

100 million shouldve of put us in the top 4

Now we have to do things the long, long way and create youngsters and be self sustainable

We'll get there in the end BR is a driven man who'll give his all to make sure

Nani wasted money? Wtf?

Borini & Allen are proof of bargains a saint of aa manager can buy. Dalglish nevr had a chance from day one because he isnt media perfect and those fickles cant forgive him retireing first time round. Your abuse to a manager who done what no other managr done by bringing us two finals in his first year.Fickle

And as people on here are fond of pointing out Fergie waited 6 seasons before he won a trophy, Kenny had one really, the first 6 months were steadying the ship. And as I have said before you can't tell me that the Suarez affair didn't totally affect the balance of the club at a critical time in the season, this on top of being told by the owners at the start of the season that top 4 was the minimum requirement. I am prepared to give Rodgers the same backing as I gave Kenny, but it p**es me off when people use a legend to justifiy the support they give BR i.e. blame Kenny so as to buy BR some time because the vultures are circling.

Waro

Waro I don't like Nani or man united but I don't think he has been anywhere near as much of a flop as Veron or Bebe but agree with you that we have spent a lot of money on average some average players

Nani and anderson aren't wasted money because they could sell them for pretty much what they bought them for

30 Dec 2012 05:44:27
The crap about blame kenny is crap! If u wanna blame someone blame Rick Perry for starting this downward spiral when he sold us out to the first Americans.

29 Dec 2012 20:54:18
I hope that tomorrow BR realises that he doesn't need 2 defensive midfielders
Lucas only in front of the back 4 of Johnson Skrtel Agger and Enrique with a 4 of Assaidi Gerrard Suso with Sterling behind Suarez
Attacking mentality please

Well, I am not sure this is accurate. We have been leaking goals against teams that cannot score against anyone. Going more offensive will open more holes in our swiss cheese back 4. Personally, I would use three center backs. Lots of clubs doing this now and it works.

Personally, I think Sterling has already played far too many games for a 17 year old. IMO I think he should be spelled from any more games for the next 4 - 6 weeks to freshen him up a bit for the final 3 months of the season.

Am I the only fan who feels sorry for FSG... They gave us money to spend which kenny threw down the toilet... They were silly to listen to the fans originally about kenny... They are continuing to invest when clearly their investment isn't going particularly well... They have always tried to please the fans that have abused them and their families so much that they are no longer able to attend games

Sure JH is busy crying about it whilst lying and cuddling with Linda on his private yacht off the shore of some exotic island... ;-)

Agree mate. Liverpool fans are the best and the worst. Its all devotion, but sometimes the gun is aimed at the wrong person.

I agree entirely. FSG were chosen as the owners, after a careful process that considered short and long term benefits of the club. They have been very open (atleast initially) and invested alot of money, albeit misplaced. I think our fans are simply seeing the quick fix that has taken place at Man City and PSG and want the same for our club. Unfortunately, no billionaire sheiks in the wings. The shouts for removing FSG are ridiculous. What do people think would happen? Bill Gates step in and offer up billions? Maybe we could ask Sir Paul McCartney to donate a billion or two.......

We as fans need to support the team and that includes the owners, the players, and our manager.

Coop

Excellent post...and spot on...
i would never complain FSG for not spending...rather I would complaint them on sanctioning such stuppid moves for caroll, downing , henderson, borini and allen...
which actually havent contributed anything till today...

Can I interrupt this FSG love-in and just point out the words of Martin Broughton when FSG bought the club:

'There's definitely a commitment to invest in a stadium and we will finish up with a 60, 000-plus seater stadium. Where they haven't finalised their view is whether that should be the new stadium or whether there are still opportunities to build at Anfield itself. They have done both.

Still waiting........... {Ed002's Note - It is pretty clear where the future of the stadium is.}

29 Dec 2012 21:51:41
Despite what anyone says i personally think walcot is a must. Not signing, now playing striker, hatrick today. Why dont we make a sensible decision and bring the lad & supporter of the club to anfield. Him suarez and sturridge. Even keep carroll and we wud be a force upfront

Keep dreaming

Y'know, there may just be a reason that most Gooners wouldn't be bothered about Theo leaving - other than for decent money - longevity, consistency, ability may just be a few

He has been described as a speedboat with no rudder - that we don't need at £100k pw

Pablo

Why would Walcott want to leave Arsenal for Liverpool ?

Little bit of info for Edd02 and the rest of our fans on here. Just in the same hotel and restaurant as Liverpool team. Anyone in doubt its *************************. After letting people get photo's as is complimentary i was talking to Jonjo and Jose. They raring to go for tomorrow and i apologise to Jonjo that not all fans give abuse. And that i got slot of time and respect for him. He laughed back at me and said that the rumours of abuse are totally wrong. Now he could be just saying that but if it was the case why would he deny it. So before ed2 flags us again its wrong. Just a bit of gossip. Oh and pepe looks miserable as hell again. Also few youth team players are here. Up the pool. Big win needed tomorrow.

Taffytel {Ed002's Note - Ok Taffytel.}

29 Dec 2012 22:08:56
Think that was his way of letting us all know Ed002 he's staying in the same hotel as the team and can't contain himself. He had to come up with a side story rather then I just spoke to Jonjo and ate my parrot.
JohnBoy

Your full of it Johnboy. Obviously Im happy being in same hotel. Did i mention it is 5 star. my only point was us fans took alot of bashing over vitriol supposedly spewed to Jonjo. I wanted to right that wrong. According to the man himself. Been to much player and fan bashing for my liking. I find the whole thing abhorrent.
Taffytel

30 Dec 2012 03:14:40
The ShelveyJ account was closed after abuse. I think maybe he just doesn't want to talk to a member of the public about it.

Uh, i've seen some of the tweets on several websites - screen shots of them.

29 Dec 2012 21:34:05
not a rumour, just my opinion,
Downing, cole, hendo, and enrique are all imo, too lightweight for the physicality of the prem, and i'm worried about agger too, as a player i like him a lot, but too often this season he has been so unsure as to ..what to do, its actually quite frightening, do you think that with all the speculation of a move to city last summer affected D. Agger, or , in your opinion is he just in a bit of a slump ?

You missed the 3 obvious ones allen sterling suso

I think your watching different players to the rest of us mate.

MIKEY

29 Dec 2012 21:56:34
This is the most ridiculous post ever enrique lightweight for the prem, he's been shi**ing on the prem for 3 years now and the man is a unit and he's fast. Your worried about agger arguably one of the best cb's in the world who's strong, technically good, amazing on the ball and dedicated to the cause.

''hendo, and enrique are all imo, too lightweight for the physicality of the prem''

Easily the most rediculous statement i've heard for a long time!

EVO

29 Dec 2012 22:03:53
Enrique? You having a laugh? He's far from the perfect player but being to lightweight for the Premier League goes to show how weak minded and simple the Internet Liverpool fan has become.
JohnBoy

Enrique is a beast! He outmuscles everyone for the ball. To call him a lightweight is utterly ridiculous. Do you watch Liverpool?

However, I agree that we have some lightweights in Allen and Sterling, but size only matters when they are played out of position. Allen as defensive main is bound for failure. As an attacking main I think he has more potential.

Sorry mate but hendo is a beast, enrique is a beast, downing and cole have both played in the league their whole careers and agger has played here for years.

Original poster got the reaction he was looking for, johnboy, derryred among the persons that responded!

Why o why do people think reina going in Jan?
No possiblee way our number one moving and buying a unproven keeper from championship, we may buy him but Reina wont be leaving Jan...

JOHN

29 Dec 2012 21:30:21
Seems like the fans are beginning to turn against BR. Personally I am unsure but believe that no world class manager would take us on. However in the summer if rafa was to become available I would take him in a heartbeat.
thanks

Y would rafa come back..when he knows he is just an option for the club??
i would never want him..rather would be happy and will support chelsea if they beat UTD...rafa will be the first liverpool boss to win a PL medal...outside our club...

I think you'll find Mr Dalglish has a PL medal

cozinoz

Dalglish/Blackburn?

29 Dec 2012 21:24:25
I think David Moyes deserves the chance to manage a big club with European prestige.

By the same token, Brendan Rodgers is a small tine club Manager who has won nothing. A straight swap of Managers seems the obvious choice to me.

redmersey

Classy Geezer!!!!
NOT

Lyndon

Moyes wont come to liverpool!

This was a joke, by the way!

redmersey

I suppose Rodgers cv reads very similar to moyes in that they have won very little silverwear.
It's just the time frame that reads very differently.
What "big" club would hire moyes knowing they won't be winning anything?

MIKEY

Not sure what 'the same token' is? Moyes should come and manage us because he's won nothing, and BR isn't fit to manage us because.. He's win nothing either?

Let me give you a small example of 'small time managers'. (and before certain people jump down my throat, I'm not comparing BR to the following, I'm just talking about people's hang ups with big names):

Shankly - came from Huddersfield town.

Paisley - first management position.

Fagin - as above

Dalglish - as above.

In fact, what makes your point so ludicrous is that our two most experienced/qualified managers are Souness (Rangers), and Hodgsons (half of Europe).

So think before you suggest a manager 'swop'. It just makes you look foolish...

BigBadBen

I think that was funny. Why are people not seeing the humour? stiff bunch on here.

Just be patient - Moyes is going to be the next manager of man u and is going to show the rest of the League that he is the most over-rated of all and that he belongs to a permanent mid-table team like ever-tin (as the fans call their club!).
AK14

Thank you to the last poster. At least someone is intelligent enough to see it as the joke it was meant to be.

I was feeling a bit bored now that X Factor has finished, so thought I'd have a laugh to lighten everyone up.

redmerey

BigBadBen,
there is nobody more foolish than someone who is so up their own backside that they can't see an obvious joke.

redmersey

Wind your neck in red Mersey. Apologies for missing your humour. It just gets buried in the similar posts by persons who actually mean it. (but to be fair, it was quite funny and I took the bait;p )

BigBadBen

BigBadBen,

Ok, my reply was a bit strong and I accept your apology, so I hope you will accept mine.

I think that some of the people who post on here are so intense that they forget that football is supposed to be about enjoyment. That's why I occasionally post stuff that should be taken with a pinch of salt, as it is intended to lighten everybody up.

I have criticised Rodgers I admit, usually in response to people who can't see what a good job Rafa actually did for us (they can't see beyond his last year and don't appreciate the reasons for it) but still think Brendan should be given a chance and it can't be helping him to hear so much negativity from the supposed best supporters in the world.

Hodgson took a lot of stick for a comment he made about the fact that he had not witnessed the famous Liverpool support. It was actually one of the few correct things he said - so think about it. Lets give Rodgers that support and see where it leads us to.

Hi Eds, great site as always...just a quick question...im struggling to work out how FFP works so could you direct your response to my question and not the search function please?
If a club has a wealthy owner i.e they lose money but they have enough to cover losses with their own money, does FFP come into play?

JOZLFC {Ed002's Note - The answer can be found at 15 Dec 2012 07:50:11}

Thanks Ed002...it mentioned .."Anzhi has a very low turnover given the amount of money they spend on players through donations from wealthy owners" (bad)....yet they apparently placed a bid for messi of 205m in the last couple of days?

JOZLFC {Ed002's Note - A couple of weeks ago Anzhi made an offer to Barcelona that matched the 250M euro buy-out clause that exists in his contract, and put up what I am told was a very significant personal package. However, Messi was not interested and has extended his contract with Barcelona. Anzhi have already stated they have no interest in adopting the FFP rules.}

So am i right in saying teams have until 2017 to get their act together? in regards to a written warning before hand? so all this talk about FSG lowering wage structures wont even come into effect if we dont qualify for either european cups?

JOZLFC

hi eds and fans I have a question for ed001, or ed0052 0r ed002, are we still interested in walcott, and what is your position onour performances and position in the league. I remember when I was talking to ed001 months ago he said ask me again closer to jan so what do you think?
ed002 why are the owners not coming to matches, surely they are the owners and should support us and shpuld ignore imbeciles(every club has them).
thanks
hibsylfc {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any current interest in Walcott from Liverpool. The reason for the owners not attending matches is not worth going in to again..}

I am sure that the people in charge of FSG have more than one business interest other than Liverpool Football Club. Apart from The Boston Red Sox, I am sure they have interests in Nascar Racing as well. Im also sure that the owners of FSG have their hands in many more pies that we dont even know of! Im sure that with all their business interests they cant just run off to Liverpool every time a game is on!

According to we are now favourites to sign Charlie Austin

According to who? {Ed002's Note - It will be some web site that takes wagers.}

29 Dec 2012 20:34:27
Just heard liverpool have enquired about Wilfred Bony but no idea whether it wil go any further. Any eds know anything else?

M {Ed002's Note - Wilfried Bony was of interest to Newcastle over the summer and has been a player Chelsea have been considering for a while. There is varying degrees of interest from Marseille, Aston Villa, QPR, Liverpool, Everton and a couple of German sides (Hamburg and Schalke) but only Marseille is pushing. It would not be a surprise to see interest from other teams, possibly Napoli and Roma. The player has said he would like to join Chelsea but any move in January is by no means certain. I think you can safely remove the two Merseyside and the two German clubs for any transfer in January.}

29 Dec 2012 20:33:55
Eds, can you tell me why Mike Marsh is our first team coach? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what so of answer you are expecting, sorry.}

Because he has worked his way through the ranks and was really successful coaching the youth teams

Mike marsh is living off rodolfo borrell and pep segura's success in the youth setup, how segura did not get the job is beyond me? seems abit racist to employ a guy simply because hes from england when the other 1 is a far superior coach and could of transformed the first team. I mean mike marsh has just been sitting on the bench looking miserable pretty much every game.RedTurk

Guys get real, we are NEVER going to sign Walcott.

There's no way walcott would sign for us

you can't make a player like him stick to a "zone" type system

I dont think we will sign him but he plays to a similar system now I would suggest.

If what im told we could have some wealthy Indian business men investing into LFC this is from a good source before anyone asks.
Watch this space and when it happens remember you read it here first. Annierroader {Ed052's Note - we've got enough chickens in our team already thanks}

Grear another Venky's we are becoming a laughing stock on our own. Don't need no more help from some Indian looking to use us ad a toy.

Be careful what you wish for, look at the ridiculous goings on at Blackburn.

Not the blackburn crowd the two brothers.

look why don't people on here listen to the eds.
we are only going to buy sturridge and ince that will be it .so don't have any hopes off anyone else coming in,
we will be lucky to finish in the top 10, when will people realise it.
we have finished being a top 4 club and we will be for a very long time.
so either suport the team or just give up. because this is facts.
the owners arn't going to spend anymore money on the club,

there will be no anfield developement, only a possible ground share. so i'm sorry to say we have finished being a top 4 club.
and yes i am a liverpool fan.

I'm crying while i'm writting this because it breaks my heart..

chrissy.

What you crying for? Have you been drinking gin or something? Get a grip mate.

MIKEY

The ''tears of a clown''! We are more than capable of a top four finish with the players we have, all we need is consistency. The problem seems to be that we are capable or beating any team in the league but capable also of being beaten by any team in the league. This is the dilemma Rodgers faces.''When the going gets tough the tough get going'', i have always found this little maxim to be true, however when the going gets tough Liverpool fold like a two dollar suitcase which unfortunately is equally true !!

Why i must trust Brendan Rodgers?Only because is Liverpool manager?I know that the trust must be earned not only in football.I judge him only profesionaly. What he won in his entire career?Somebody write:, , . Everton have been s--t for 20 years, yet they always get behind the team and manager and always make a racket at goodison. Some of you people are an embarrassment and a disgrace, only chelsea have fans like this. It has reached a stage where some people, Myself included, are ashamed to be associated with Liverpool nowadays, not because of the manager or team, but because of the stupidity and attitude of some of the fans.''Can i say to him if he wants mediocrity for another 20 years go and support Everton?
Mircea

Your posts are ridiculous. That is all. Thanks

Mircea, I've seen some crap ill informed posts on here but that post is right up there with the worst. I have alot of evertonian mates and work with quite a few and I'm sure they will back me up when I say the following....

Everton at times over the years have had as little as 12, 000 at games continually having low gates season on season and for the last few seasons have been having constant war with Bill Kenwright ( I suggest you look up a group called The Blue Union ) they quite rightly don't like the way THERE CLUB is being ran.. I know lads even now don't like Moyse and feel he will never win anything at the club, the same lads used to go week in week out but now pick and choose there games because they've seen no improvement at there club and in there words are fed up watching s**te and paying top dollar for the privilige, and there constant noise backing the team you are banging on about is not what i've been told by the people who go, quite the reverse infact. So Mircea if your looking for an example to prove your Liverpoos top supporter that sees no wrong at the club and blindly backs the club in a lemming like fashion then I would research your facts about the example your using to prove your point.

Waro this 'newish' poster/fan has written some bizarre things recently but please don't make out that your blue friend's opinion about Moyes is anything like an opinion any normal Everton fan thinks of him. I'd say it's an absolute tiny mingey minority who are the type of fans were no amount of success would be good enough. The knuckle head fan who'd be pissin and moaning if they were 8 points clear, wondering why they ain't 9. Anyone and I'd say I speak for most rational folks that with Moyes at the helm Everton have punched above their weight more often then not. Weather he'd do as well as he has at Everton is open to debate, some things just fit like a glove. Don't make out that that extreme opinion is what the average man on the street think.
JohnBoy

JohnBoy, I have used the people I know because they are the only point of reference I have as I don't support Everton, but I think they are far a more reliable guide of fan opinion then your media driven perception of Moyes. After all as they have said to me in the past, what has he won in his 10 years in charge?

Waro

29 Dec 2012 22:27:50
Like it or not Everton under Moyes have punched well above their weight more often then not. Fair enough he ain't won a trophy but with the financial restraints he's worked under for the majority of the time I very much doubt anyone in that job would've done. And any discontent aimed at him is from like i said a tiny minority. No why don't you give us all a laugh Waro and stick tomorrow's team up for tomorrow. We could have a sweepstake to see how many players out you are. Anyone else keen ha ha.
JohnBoy

Very good JohnBoy, your rapier wit has cut me to the core there!

Take it you disliked my response which p***es all over your original post. Also I noticed your response to the lad Taffytel who is clearly at the hotel were the team are staying, have you got a problem with people being a little in the know? Smacks of a wee bit of envy to me.

Waro

30 Dec 2012 02:44:55
Doesn't in the know imply correct knowledge though Waro?
If you have any, feel free to jot it down so we can see it!
WelshBoyDave

30 Dec 2012 03:29:56
Oh your post really shamed me Waro, nearly as shameful as your inside info ha ha. Bring Taffytel into it divide and conquer eh ha ha.
I see your trying to blame were we are on the league on the bashing Kennys still getting over the biggest waste of money in a short space of time in Premier league history. Carroll 35 mil wow, Downing 20 mil, 19 points after Christmas and just because he's a legend you believe not only that todays plight is nothing to do with him but havin teams like Fulham and Swansea do the double over us was enough to keep his job. Did i mention Andy Carroll cost 35mil ouch.
JohnBoy

I always thought Waro's team info was quite good and usually spot on.

hi edds who would u think could come in and help out rodgers in that dof role of some sort because he desperatly needs someone if no one comes in to help i really do think its the end for rodgers.

grego {Ed052's Note - Van Gaal was an option in the summer. He wont be this summer. Its a long way off}

Never mind Director of Football, we should have appointed Louis Van Gaal as the manager last summer. It still amazes me that FSG chose Brendan Rodgers over a proven world-class coach like Van Gaal.

Sorry ed who could come in now cause at this rate rodgers wont be here in the summer he needs help now so whos avalible

grego {Ed052's Note - manypeople could come in now. It would be puree speculation however}

Ah, finely diced speculation. My favourite kind.

Rodgers get that lad to anfield!

We would have sold him if he would have handed a transfer request or reused a contract with us...

Messi is bigger than most clubs mate.

29 dec 2012 19:47:34
first things first.........we need to sign walcott. after todays performance it blatantly demonstrates he is a quality finisher. he is a better finisher than sturridge and a more complete player at 23. his wages are fine as he deserves it just look at his goals/assists to games ratio and compare it to sturridge. why do we constantly buy terrible players. another thing i want to say is what is going on with sahin, 4 mil for him and he hardly plays that is utter bs and you fans no it, same with assaidi. my suggestions (i wanted michu, diame and kevin mirallas before they came the pl (not diame), not to mention several other cheap and successful transfers) so whoever can make look at this and make a difference at liverpool please take my advice and sign walcott, try to sign ba, try to sign ricky lambert, sign sturridge.

we need players who will play for the liverbird on there chest and players who give 110% each game and have a winning mentality.

ynwa & in rodgers n lfc i trust!!

Wow! You should be the Manager as you are so incredibly knowledgeable. Perhaps you should pursue a career as an Agent

29 dec 2012 19:43:11
in:

sturridge
ince
holtby
butland
max 20 million for all!

Ahaahahha sturridge alone costs £12mill. Ince is being priced at £6mill, butland at £6-8mill and holtby...god knows.

29 Dec 2012 19:39:01
After seeing Walcotts performance today, I think we can officially say goodbye to signing him..

29 Dec 2012 19:36:48
Brilliant hat-trick and all round display from Walcott playing as central striker, surely Wenger will not be foolish enough not to play him there and allow him to leave........if only he would be C'mon either get him signed up in January or get him to sign a pre-contract agreement. If Arsenal want Reina perhaps a swap deal may be attractive to all parties and then go after Butland. An interchanging front three of Suarez, Sturridge and Walcott would certainly create and hopefully score plenty (with Sterling, Borini and possibly Ince in reserve too)

I think arsene wenger was interested in reina 3-4 years ago, he defo wouldnt be interested in him now.i also feel walcott wants to stay at arsenal but his wage demands are causing the stumbling block.if they cant sort it out, chelsea, city, and united are all waiting in the wings.it will come down to money and ambition and unfortunatly lfc cant match either compared to the other three i have mentioned

29 Dec 2012 19:25:32
Rodgers is just another symptom of our decline not the cause but definately not the cure.

29 Dec 2012 19:17:42
Macca, there is no guarantee of success with youth. Rodgers is obviously a manger learning on the job he can't even utilize the squad properly.
And I disagree with all the give allen and borini time. they were brought in to do a job for us and they aren't doing it.

what if we buy sturridge and ince. and they are slow to hit the ground running. should we tag them as flops? so we should give them time like allen and borini. that's the major reason we are not improving cos we have so much potential., not proven quality. spurs, city, arsenal, chelsea, united ARE quality teams.

LIVERPOOL "CAN BE" a quality team that's the huge difference. We need players who are sure to hit the ground running. Potential isn't a guarantee for success (arsenal should have won the league if it did)

how can brendan after all pre season and training with the squad din't know our priority was a striker? why did he buy only borini but spent 20m on sahin and allen?

PACMAN

Pacman

Come on give Borini & Allen a chance they're 21, 22 years old, give them some time. Did you expect Borini to come in score 20+ goal in 6 games & Allen have 40+ assists.

In football your never guaranteed a player will work, look how Robinho, Shevchenko worked they cost city & chavs £60+ mill

15+3 mill for allen...
so what are you expecting?
another 3 year to develop??
common mate he came from a a club from PL....he is not an alien or youngster who has stepped into first team like sterling...
this is ridiculous

29 Dec 2012 19:12:13
And who says Walcott is overrated!

Overrated playing on the wing but natural position and the real deal through the middle as a striker

29 Dec 2012 19:15:22
The real truth is emerging about our position , instead of dreaming of a top 4 finish as Rafa is 10 points ahead of us in the blink of an eye . We need to stay up , not beyond the realms of possibility us struggling up season end now . Rodgers got lucky at Swansea and no manager should have the right to land the lfc job with as little experience

29 Dec 2012 18:59:12
Forget Walcott we should match his release clause and buy Demba Ba, awesome striker

That would be the Walcott who just scored three and set up two?

Walcott every day of the week

alan50

You were saying?

Walcott has one good game in five. Ba is a nailed on 20 goals a season striker which is what we need.

Since Walcott has been used as a centre forward he has been superb. Keep your 35 million carroll and sturidge. Theo's going nowhere

We get beat off Villa 3-1 then they get beat 8-0, 4-0 and 3-0. We got beat off stoke 3-1 and then Southampton manage to score 3 goals against them and get a point. Dont feel as if our players are commited enough and have motivation. What has happened?

And we beat Southampton and drew Chelsea
Boinz

Different games- that's what happened. Simple

Well United lost to Norwich and we beat them 5-2, does that mean the United players lack commitment and motivation? No it means United had a bad game and Norwich had a good game, it happens to every team we have just had more off days than usual.. But still you can't blame the players for we only had 2-3 games were we PLAYED badly, be patient and the results will follow. BELIEVE!!

It's why the premiership is one of the best leagues in the world!

We have the players capable of beating nearly every team in the league,
We shudda bet man u and man city this season (gifting goals and red card).
Also we've drawn with Chelsea, Everton etc and played some good football at times showing our quality.
It used to be the problem in past seasons that we cudn't beat the "lower" or newly promoted teams, but this season we've bet Reading and southampton and have QPR next (you have to be confident about beating them too.)

The problem this season is the players don't give 100% in every game, so much good players who only show it when they want to, and some are just happy to get a draw, or pass the ball around when losing and collect their pay check at the end of the week.

United and City have proper players who dig in for results even when (like today) they only have 10 men, or (like so many times this season) united find themselves behind in games.

29 Dec 2012 18:34:11
Ever since the rumours of us going for Tom Ince have happened he hasnt been playing good, he has lost his form. Is he feeling the pressure before even joining?

It will just make it easier for him to settle in.

Why does ince having a dip in form mean he will settle in easier

Think about it..!

29 Dec 2012 18:32:22
Would still like mccarthy in the summer stiffen up the midfield, type of player we could have done with against stoke, keep the faith reds

29 Dec 2012 18:27:53
Would love us to sign Walcott in January, however if he did that would mean we would have to pass the ball FORWARD and CREATE chances for him, which goes AGAINST our policy of passing sideways and backwards, and if an opposing player comes towards you then pass it back to reina.

alan50

Alan50
i think you must have a really hard life, most pessimistic person on this site for sure. cheer up its christmas.

B O H

We generally create more scoring opportunities than our opponents and around the 18 mark I would assume. Often doubling scoring opportunitites. The quality of the chances and the finishing is another matter but we are creating plenty consitently. This 'no forward passing' stuff is just not right.

Just seen the New Years honours list with all the names of the Olympians on it. Can some one please explain to me how Kenny Dalgleish has not been knighted yet. Alex Ferguson gets it for services to football, for just managing a team. Dalgleish is the best player Scotland have ever produced & one of if not the best Liverpool player of all time. Not to mention all the work he did straight after Hillsborough in visiting the family's & providing surpport ever since & helping to bring justice to the 96 & there family's. Whoever think up who gets knighted, needs to be told to get King Kenny on there.

Yes but this is only from a liverpool perspective!

You can't Knight a King.

Fair enough it's taken from a Liverpool fans point of view, but the honours list is done on merit & that man has done more than most people who've been honoured.

There is no doubting Kenny is deserving of a knighthood for his services to sport, and so too should his wife Marina, be recognised in the same way (Dame) for her services to charity.

Digger

Or else maybe Ferguson just doesn't deserve it..

Who gives a toss I'm not into all that knighthood malarkey anyway who are we to judge

Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley & Brian Clough should all have been knighted too.

It's a feckin disgrace that they weren't.

29 Dec 2012 18:03:22
So we have dropped to 10 points behind 4th, and maybe 11 if Chelsea beat Everton tomorrow. While a win against QPR is expected, that doesn't give me any confidence. Since beating us 3 - 1, Villa have been outscored 15 - 0, and prior to that had not scored in 5 games. Guess they got lucky at Anfield, coupled with atrocious defending. Stoke, who manhandled us last week, were outplayed and almost beaten by Southampton today. My point is, I have a sick feeling that we will lose tomorrow and then we will have to concede that we are truly a poor team. Certainly the table thinks so. If we start a free fall, we could be in a relegation battle. Whilst unthinkable, we are actually knocking on the door.

Frightened Red

I've been saying that we'll be in a relegation fight from the start of the season! And if we do get beat tomorrow FSG had better do something quick!

And if we win we are only 7 points off the 4 still. So....

We are so uptight as a supporter group these days. Maybe with some merit but I have no doubt that this tension transfer to the players. Anfield feels like it is not until we are 3 goals up that we can exhale. Once again, maybe with some merit. The lads really need us to get behind them, especially at home. I am not saying that we have to be happy with a poor performance but we need to get behind them none the less. We can critisize the manager, owners and players as much as we like but we also need to take responsibility for what we are not doing as fans. Easy for me to say on the other side of the world, maybe, but Anfield appears to have lost its joy of football. Maybe a few wins on the trot can change that. Fingers crossed.

Andy K

As you say Andy K maybe a few win's on the trot will change the solemness at Anfield! But for the last few season's the player's have let the fan's down especially at home!

Those who say 12m for sturridge, guys we paid 36m for downing and henderson wouldnt have to do much to do better than them

Dont take a chance again...
thats the point...
7.5 mill for BA....forget his knee...he is banging in goals...
go all out to sign wlacot....forget ince and sturridge..
simple...

Dont you just wish the walcott imterest became reality? He is looking ominous in that striker position although i do think sturridge will be a good signing

29 Dec 2012 17:53:52
i'd offer 8m for theo on jan 1st

I would offer 12 mill for walcott...any time now...his first goal reminded me of theiry henry...what a finish...
y does aresene wenger get the best kids to play football?

29 Dec 2012 17:36:49
great news the familes of the 96 are getting justice at last but the club is in a bad place we are a european giant run like a small town club. This summer cutting the wage bill leaving us criminal short of experinced pros clubs of our size send our kids out on loan not throw them in & hope they work out nobody forced fsg to buy this great club at the moment they are making us a laughing stock

No your wrong never mind the results "the club"as you put it is actually in better nick than it was we were loosing a mill a week i think that had to get fixed and from here we will rise

29 Dec 2012 17:35:00
Macca is totally correct and the most important piece is the families getting the truth and justice that has cast a shadow over them and the club for so long. But I think he is totally missing the sad fact that Brendan just isn't up to the task of leading OUR club. The only way that the club can become great on the field of play again is by getting Pep. People can assume that he (Pep) doesn't want to be involved in football again but we don't know if we don't ask. If the right leadership within the club could make him buy into the "project" that is Liverpool F.C we could all get behind him. Brendan has to accept the sad fact he just hasn't got what it takes, the truth is hard to accept but there it is folks.

29 Dec 2012 17:32:34
Greggo,
Re: Rafa

I admit Rafa did have some highs as a Liverpool manager, 4-1 at Old Trafford being the most memorable( in the league). However, his brand of football was always the dull, let's not lose type. He was also a control freak who caused problems at every club he managed. Liverpool were fortunate to sack him when they did or we'd certainly have gone under. I just can't understand persons who would want him back.

As for BR, for heavens sake, he had half a season. Some results have been disappointing but the vast majority of the games we've played some superb football. If we get the right players in I'm positive results will significantly improve. I'm sure you'll soon be singing BR's praises. Then again I think those Rafa rose-tinted glasses are superglued on.

Gordy

Beat ream madrid 4-0 in home 1-0 in away in the same year.

29 Dec 2012 19:28:51
Mate how can you put down benitez infront of Rodgers are you ok or just a kid, Rodgers can only dream what Benitez has already achieved in footy. Rodgers is not and will never be top manager. Can't you see with your open eyes his just one dimensional when tippy tappy doesn't work he looks totally confused or may I say out of his depth.
Just look at some top managers down the years

Bill shankley
Bob paisley
Mourinho
Sir Alex fergusson
Matt Bussby

Thise managers are one of the best the game has ever seen and have never played one dimensional footy infact have played different tactics or style including tippy tappy to win games and achieved a lot of success. Paisley and shankly played tippy tappy style when Rodgers was not even born but still were not one dimesional.

Gordy no clue have ya football is about results simple as in gerrard and tores we score at least fifty goals and one year 70 between the two never mind everyone else how is that dull didnt tores score three hatricks in arow again very dull is this the tores who went to chelsea and couldnt score wait a in rafa gos there and he has 7 in six games or something rafa is one of the best coaches in the world

grego

Tactics aside, I don't think the Brendan Rodgers can motivate the players to give that extra ounce of energy, and effort when we need it the most. (well he hasn't done so yet)
Rafa always got close to the players and understands how to get the best out of them. As you have mentioned above, Torres couldn't score to save his life, and now since Rafa took over he looks a lot more consistent.

This is probably the most important characteristic of a great manager! they must learn to get the best out of the players, individually and as a collective group.

Jose Mourinhio is the best in the world at this, when he left Porto, Chelsea and Inter, his players were crying their eyes out.
I hope this is something BR learns to do, because on paper we have got a very good team. Quality players like suarez, johnson, gerrard etc in almost every position. However these 'superior' players have fallen victim to a mediocre Aston Villa and Stoke City.

LFC 2929

Gordy, get yourself a copy of Brian Reade's book, '44 months with a pair of Cowboys' and you might understand what Benitez had to put up with in his final season.

He put his job on the line, and subsequently lost it, because he spoke out and wanted people to know what was going on. In the circumstances, to finish 7th was almost a miracle.

Dream on if you think Rodgers will come good. He's already made enough mistakes to convince me that he may be able to talk the talk but is not good enough to walk the walk.

With decent management, we could have displaced Chelsea in the Top 4. Now, with them having Benitez and us lumbered with Rodgers, just watch the gap between the 2 teams widen to a gulf.

Really cant believe after everything that's been said about our position and long term plan, after everyone agreeing to it mutually and loving it very time we win how you can be such fickle horrible people.

Brendan is such a great guy and coach and yet you treat him like a sack of she*p and for what? Because we lost a few games deservedly? Usually when we lose it is to do with the players attitude and effort put in, not to the fault of Brendan. When we win he is suddenly perfect and taking us in the right direction. When we lose he is suddenly an person with no experience and has archived nothing, and never will achieve anything.

The same goes for his signings. Borini will be brilliant when he returns mark my words. Joe Allen is brilliant, does one and simplistic job to perfection when he plays well, yet because he has had a run of bad games he is the worst signing ever? It's just a run of bad form you persons. Everton have been s--t for 20 years, yet they always get behind the team and manager and always make a racket at goodison. Some of you people are an embarrassment and a disgrace, only chelsea have fans like this. It has reached a stage where some people, Myself included, are ashamed to be associated with Liverpool nowadays, not because of the manager or team, but because of the stupidity and attitude of some of the fans.

You know who you are. Get a grip. Believe in the team for once, either that or get your negativity off of the forums of us proper fans.

Easy to be so certain of so many things and to criticise so many then remain anonymous

Chris in Tamworth

Who is treating him like a "sack of she-p"?

Whatever that is....

All anyone is saying is that in their opinion he is not up to the job and the results speak for themselves.

Managers take the responsibility for results, it has always been thus.

29 Dec 2012 19:08:33
This has to be a wind up post, surely! Or your on mind bending drugs.

Waro

Why is teflon Brendan immune from criticism? What has he done for LFC that is so wonderful, I would love to know?

It p*sses me right off that nobody is allowed to criticise Brendan Rodgers, when the living legend that is Kenny Dalglish was subjected to some disgusting criticism on these pages last season, despite winning our first trophy in six years. {Ed002's Note - He gets enormous amounts of criticism.}

Micrea me thinks !! Beardsley's Boot's

There is a substantial difference between criticism and slating to the ends of the earth. There is a difference between "i disagree with brendans transfer policy, we shoul look more at -insert-." Rather than " rodgers is s--t, should never have been appointed aa and be sure to abuse him wherever he goes." clueless man who nevr has and never will achiev anything, get him outb forruining our team

29 dec 2012 17:26:00
fellow liverpool fans-wake up now-rodgers is a complete person-the reason that none of the players such as gerrard chase back is that rodgers tells them not to leave their zone.rodgers trades on the goodwill of all fans by spouting endless gibberish.any manager that neglects to pick the likes of coates to combat stokes aerial threat is incompotent and should be relieved of duty immediately.brendan for the good of the club please i beg you resign tonight before the transfer window.we can no longer defend in any game.rodgers continues to impose 433 on a team that cannot implement it and has no plan b.hodgson was useless, dalglish was

Wow...and this is the average liverpool fan?

Rafa - great guy, great coach : sacked
Houllier - great guy, great coach : sacked
King Kenny - great guy, great coach: sacked
Evans - great guy great coach : sacked

So there you have it, great guys and great coaches who get poor results end up sacked.

what is everyone's opinion on borini? imo i think he can be really good for us, his movement is good, he's got pace, a powerful shot and once he scores one i believe he wont stop,
However that is my opinion.

Please don't be disrespectful if you disagree please comment without absolutely slagging him off.

KingMiz

His movement is excellent, but i believe his scoring depends on his understanding with Suarez. how quickly can they understand each others game is the key to him banging them in..

mgz

Not sure about him, definitely don, t think he has the skill to play out wide.
Les

I dont know how many games he had played before he got injured, but he wasnt pulling up any trees. I think he scored once in an early Europa match? Not great if im honest, so far.

The Irish Rover

I like borini personally, got a great work ethic which is vital & once he settles think he will develop into a good player for us
Paisley's genius

I think it's too early to say. He's only played a handful of games and there's not many players in the entire squad looking the part at the moment.

The price tag was a bit steep, but can be justified in one season by a striker who manages to bag a few goals. Football is a fickle game, a striker can go from zero to hero in a short space of time.

From what I've seen he has decent moment, energetic, and was trying to hard, but I can't fault that really - he wanted to impress us as fans.

He'll be fine in time.

JimmyHustle

Poor timing of runs.
Has a bit of pace.
No height to speak of therefore no threat in the air.
Ball control mediocre.
Yet to see him finish his breakfast.

All in all, a championship player at best.

To unamed poster above, i'm really impressed with your scouting skills you've assessed a player after only 5 games and know (at only 21) he wont develop into a good player for us! Respect to your expertise , i guess you will be joining the scouting staff shortly!

So far he has been a disappointment IMO.

Ed how come when Suarez scored a month or two ago and revealed a 'Get Well Soon Lucas' tshirt under his jersey he got booked but when Van Persie did it just there he didn't? Just wondering if you could tell me if there was a difference?
Cheers mate. {Ed002's Note - Van Persie would have been booked if his shirt mentioned Lucas.}

Ah you got me there Ed! Nice one haha!

{Ed002's Note - Van Persie would have been booked if his shirt mentioned Lucas.}

========================
Ed002 the OP will wrongly believe you ...
Now the real reason RVP was not booked because he is not a Liverpool player

Roy

Ed2, best reply ever!

Roy, behave!

G

As far as I know Suarez revealed his in the EL but surely the rules are same Ed are they? {Ed002's Note - Removing the shirt in an EPL game, like deliberate handball, diving and smoking, is a yellow card offence - but the referee may show discretion.}

If I could sign 3 players for Liverpool (in the near realms of possibility) this January. I would sign Tiote, Walcott and Sturridge. We need attacking speedy forwards/wingers and a battling Defensive Midfielder. I think we would have a perfect balance in the team if we could get these players.
Burito Bill

I would do this between now and summer 2013.
Ins: isco 12 million
Lewandowski 15 million
Mvilla 10 million
Butland 5 million

Outs: carrol 17 million hopefully
Spearing 3 million
Carra retire
Cole
Downing 8 million
Reina 15 million

Some of this is very optimistic but if we did this it would allow us to continue to promote kids and keep the wage bill low.

One of my friends, who is a Newcastle fan, said that Tiote has been their weak link this season because he keeps giving the ball away and tries too much.

29 Dec 2012 16:43:27
How can Villa have put 3 goals past us????????
I know footy is a "funny old game" but seeing them get done 3-0 at home by wigan and stoke losing to southampton is really depressing!

Bring on 2013.

Jon

Stoke losing to southampton

================
premature ... they did not loose to Southampton.

Roy

Roy i wish they did mate, if we beat qpr we could've gone back to 8th lol

8th, wow...whoopeedoo.....

29 Dec 2012 16:37:50
Ed002, i know that with the red sox they have had three managers since the owners bought us 2 years ago. FSG have shown how ruthless they are in sacking managers so do u think if they do not see progress this year they will be ruthless again and sack rodgers? cheers {Ed002's Note - I would think that in the first instance that they will look to bring in someone to help him out - another football person.}

Ed do you think they would wait until the end of the season to do that or would they do that sooner?

KingMiz {Ed002's Note - I think sooner rather than later. Given the way it is going, the sooner, the better.}

Best option Eds002 ......BR needs help sooner rather that later. Someone with a wise experienced football brain and an eye for what players we need to bring in/ ship out as well as knowing when to keep quiet.

I think this will provide a degree of stability and reassure an increasingly discontent fan base. BR may have potential for the future but he will have to be humble enough to accept he needs help and that he needs to learn an awful lot yet before he can deliver at a club like LFC rather than just talk a good game.

RedDoc

Given the way things have gone, 5 months ago would have been better

G

They can sack br anytime and bring in another.
maybe buying a striker and winger would be a better idea for now.

Bren won't accept any help, he's too arrogant and inflexible.

Another football person ed002?
What a way to run a railway!

Ref

What about his backroom staff ar'nt they football knowledge people? {Ed002's Note - I suspect someone rather more senior.}

Like Bob Paisley was with Kenny when he first took over! Someone who bleed's LFC! Who would be a viable option? But would 'nt that just be like Evan's and Houllier? But it's been posted on this site that Buck should give Roy Evan's a call! That would be interesting!

29 Dec 2012 16:29:07
Have got to be honest, if I was Luis Suarez and we only have Sturidge+Ince coming in January, I would honestly hand in a Transfer request, as it would show me the club have very little money with no ambition, and a top 4 finish looking less likely with every season

alan50

Good job your not playing for us means as your such a Loyal type??

Not such a Loyal fan either I guess

Lyndon

Yet he signed a new contract without anyone coming in. He's happy here why are you trying to cause trouble.

MIKEY

Well your not but you can still put a transfer in if you want

29 Dec 2012 02:11:51
After watching the Stoke game, one day in the not too distant future Suarez is going to wake up & say "what the f*** am I busting my balls for when they aren't bringing in quality players, to strengthen the team, when I can go to a contender, play C/L anywhere in Europe"
He needs top quality around him now while he is still only 24, in his prime not as he's driving off to play elswhere.. Not some of the 2nd rate they have now, Lets be honest & face it we are a mid to 8th place team at best with this squad, ,
---------------------------------------------
This was posted earlier... I wouldn't blame him either.. One of the few quality players we have we better bring in & sooner rather than later....

Because it's his job?

Since hammering LFC 1-3 at Anfield, Aston Villa have lost 8-0, 4-0 and are now getting mugged at home by Wigan 0-3.

Puts our result into context

Suck it up n move on

But our fans here still defended and requested for more time to BR...

A hammering? I take it you didn't actually watch the game. Villa took their three chances very well but we dominated the game and unfortunately did not take our chances, 26 shots and 1 goal says it all. Attacking additions to the teamin Jan will make all the difference

Well if you remember the AV game - we should have been at least 3 up by the time they scored - and if anything it was a freak result - the sort of result that happens now and again - unfortunately with our lack of firepower, there may still be a number of freak results coming our way.

John B

Ifs and buts. results business. must win game tomorrow.

It does not matter how much possession you have, or how you dominate.
What matters is how you finish, convert the chances.
We can't finish for s*it.

Give it a break man, not even to jan and your writing us off. With Sturridge n borini back well have much more bite. If borini didn't get injured he would have been the guy banging all them chances in we've been creating... Think about it

- Slim

I like it slim slim chance more like

grego

What evidence have you got that Borini would be banging them in .so far scored 1 missed 3 from max 5 yards so not sure about him finishing the chances

Someone with some sense and optimism, I am not the only one thank god

Borini didn't ever set the world alight no matter where he went.

Borini is only 21 why do you expect him to set the world alight as a 18 year old. Not every one is Micheal Owen. I think he will come good for us.
Andrew

29 Dec 2012 15:32:24
Southampton has done done what we couldn't do, score 2 goals from open play against Stoke, and not only that it is they who are dominating the game

alan50

Silly logic

Aston villa hammered us then go and ship 12 goals in next 2 games stoke destroyed us and now southampton battering them shows how bad we have become

29 Dec 2012 15:51:12
So what. Every match is different.

That's stupid... We beat Norwich 5-2 and united loss to them... We must be better than united! Unfortunately it doesn't work like that though

We beat west ham and hammered norwich therefor we are better than chelsea man united and arsenal

Using ur logic of course

That's why Man U are 20 plus points ahead.
Its called consistency, and excellent management.
BR should resd SAF's book, maybe it will help.

To Ed002
Just thank you for the time you spend providing us with your information.
And congratulation for your patience to deal with aggressive and rude comments {Ed002's Note - You are very kind, thank you. There is a lot less abuse of me recently as the efforts are being concerntrated on abusing the owners, the manager and the players.}

Every Cloud has a Silver linning Ed2

Lyndon

Aye, it usually goes something like this.... ''Are we getting Falcao Ed002?'' Ed002 {No, not a chance.}

I hate you Ed002, you're so blatantly anti-Liverpool you should stick to the Chelsea page and the 4 regulars who visit it.''

I've witnessed it for long enough to know that it's only a needle person away from the truth, as sad and pathetic as it may seem, it's the age and trend of the times.

Ed002, i like you but i do often disagree with your opinion, i think it's quite healthy to do so, but i always try to be respectful as i think people are more responsive with such an approach.

The last time i commented openly towards the Ed's, i was the recipient of a pleasant Latin reply, you just don't get that on other websites. Added to my love bordering on obsession for history, i was made up. My Kingdom, my Kingdom for three points against QPR on the morrow. :)

A Happy new year to anyone and everyone, i've had a complete shocker with my Mother losing her battle against Cancer on the 9th of December, a right kick in the gut but the new year is the time to turn things around and turn negatives into positives and remember who you've lost and love and loath who's still here. :)

BoriniCanDoIt {Ed002's Note - A happy new year to you as well BCDI, and I am really sorry to hear of the loss. Ars Longa Vita Brevis.}

Why aren't we getting Falcao?

Beautiful words that Macca. Glad to see someone who has faith in the club. I have supported liverpool for many year and i have seen many disappointments. Looking at the current situation I have resigned to the fact that we might not see european football for a season or more. What i feel is different with rodgers regime compared to the previous ones is that we are not setting ourselves for the next season, we looking very far into the future. Anyone who follows barcelona would know that at one point few years back, they were in the exact shoe as ours. Look where they are now? What made the difference? As i can remember their sudden rise was due to the introduction of messi, iniesta, busquets, pedro and the re-signing of pique. And it is not a coincidence that spain (or barcelona i would say excluding a few) arose with this youthful barcelona team. Now what i see in a few years from now is a liverpool team with great players such as borini, allen, coates, suso, sterling, shelvey, wisdom, kelly, robinson, yesil, sturridge, ince (and possibly butland). And i see the possibility of an england squad made up entirely of liverpool players.

My friend you are absolutely right, but as I have said many times nobody has the patience or knowledge of football to see how good we can become under Rodgers

Don, t agree, Barcelona were good when those guys were subs and fringed players.
Les

My friend you are absolutely right, but as I have said many times nobody has the patience or knowledge of football to see how good we can become under Rodgers

Except for you that is ...

Roy

Anyone who follows barcelona would know that at one point few years back, they were in the exact shoe as ours.
=================================

Obviously you did n't follow them ... there were never in the same position football or financial .. If you are referring to the Frank Rijkaard era, they did win a couple of cups including champion league at the expense of Arsenal .. they always always combined experience with youth .. and to compare Messi, Iniesta with anyone we have in the academy is absolutely foolish and shows you know little about football.

Roy

At last some else who rembers barcelona b4 pep, thank Roy.

This is it for me. I'll continue to support Liverpool in my own quiet way, but its something I'll keep very private. The level of abuse given to Lucas, Henderson, Werner, Henry, Henry's wife, Rodgers, Carroll, Downing, Borini, Allen, Shelvey and so on makes it impossible for me to associate my self with any of these supporters. I used to feel pride when I told people who I support. No more. I'd still support the club if they were 24th in League 2, but some of these 'supporters' are disgusting. Best fans in the world? More like the most fickle, abusive, impatient, vulgar supporters in the world.

Most of the offenders are juveniles and probably never ventured inside Anfield.

Any Fans I know are and would be absolutely appalled, by the reaction of a minority of persons, who dare call themselves Lverpool F.C. fans. we must treat these people with total contempt. They do not represent the majority of L.F.C Fans.

Some of the abuse on here us bewildering some of things said about kenny last year was repugnant how any Liverpool fan (?) could aim this level of hate at kenny, Brendan & people connected with club is beyond me it is the type of proto-psychopathic behaviour that would have Margaret thatcher & the vile tabloids smirking in admiration, shankly would weep thanks to all the eds for their patient perseverance, y.n.w.a jft96
Paisley's genius

I know for a fact that the season ticket holders are the majority of these plastic glory hunters.

No you dont know for a fact.

Red1

To the OP, great post. As frustrating as this season (and the last couple in all honesty) has been I can respect fair criticism. However, so much of the abuse goes way too far. It's a shame great fans such as yourself are marginalized.

Yes.
But they do represent the next generation of fans.
Disenfranchised and angry.
Take heed, they are what lies ahead for the club.
They were 'nurtured' this way.
So who is to blame... Stand up parents, and take a bow.

Why did the clown that is Paisley's genius feel the need to have a dig at Margaret Thatcher in his post above?
Especially since he is complaining about vile abuse aimed at various people - is

I take it Puzzled you were born with a silver spoon up your clacker if you don't remember the hammering she gave the working class. From the miners to the infamous Poll tax were normal working class people revolted and rioted over it. She made the rich richer, the poor poorer was right of Genghis Khan in her political view. I can't believe a Liverpool fan is defending her, my opinion of you has plummeted, I doubt I'll be the only one.

I am not English, so the era of the thatcher regime is something I can't relate to in anyway.
I am however a socialist, and deplore repressive authority in anyway, shape or form.
Dictators and repressive regimes, bring out the 'Anarchist' in me.
Screw rich capitalist bas*ards, and their 'money for misery policies', the world needs a little Revolution now and again, to shake it from its comfortable slumber.

I read on here and twitter some lfc fans saying give BR 3 seasons then judge him REALLY now dont get me wrong i am a fan of BR but AVB has been at TOT the same time and they are sitting in 3rd right now with the same level of squad now i have been a lfc fan since i was 5 i get up 2 see the boys about 8 times a season i spend alot of money supporting my club and im sure as hell that im not satisfied with 10th place its an absolute joke and i can assure u shanks would be turning in his grave hearing lfc fans happy with mid table and give it 3 seasons in case u have had some sort of memory lose we are LFC!!

Totally agree

As I said in my previous posts

Accepting mediocrity now means forsaking our future.......

Clarke, AVB, Houghton, Laudrup have all just quietly got on with their business and got results with their players.

As has been said on other posts here..when the whole team under performs the manager and back room staff deserve to be under scrutiny.

RedDoc

Spurs have afar better squad than us as has been proven over the last three years when they have finished above us also they took maybe three years to build the squad they have so please just behave yourself and instead of blaming rogers maybe blame the players that have been under achieving since the09/10 season it cant always be the managers fault or in this case four mangers faults !

Firstly, Tottenham finished 4th last season and have since spent almost £60 million. To say that our squads are of the same quality is frankly ridiculous. Secondly, nobody is 'satisfied' with 10th place, but we also realise that we are not yet at the required level to get into the Champions League again. Finally, you say Shankly would be turning in his grave, but he actually took three seasons to get Liverpool promoted from the Second Division. So maybe giving our current manager some support wouldn't be the worst of ideas. {Ed002's Note - Everyone keeps saying it is only Net spend that matters and switching to Gross spend when it suits fails to give a clear picture. Their Net spend in the summer was £0.5M.}

It is only halfway through the season, people do know this?.... i really hope brendan gets it right, i doubt some of you people even watch the games, let alone go to them.
ant

Tottenham may well have a net spend of £0.5 million but the point is that they did a hell of a lot more with the money they got from Modric, Van der Vaart, Pienaar etc. than we did with the money we got from Torres, Babel and Meireles. Their squad is currently superior to ours, so comparing us to them is useless.

Gross spend is how you assess a manager in the transfer market. Net spend is how you assess the owners and how much of their hard earned cash is being used to buy players.

The Irish Rover

Bottom line they are have a better team than us which is why theyve finished above ja for past 3/4 seasons

Our players are highliy overated and we have zero quality in depth

The difference... Competent and involved owners.
Not like our lot, across the pond.

Why do we never have a honeymoon period like other clubs? Sux2Bus

Sheesh, I thought this was a banter site but it feels like civil war on here. I popped over to ask why Puzzled spends so much time on the United site and so little on here but having read some of the stuff on here, I can see why. No wonder Blair has gone missing

AJH

This is what we have become through so much trans-atlantic mismanagement.

FSG are reaping what they sowed.

29 Dec 2012 14:56:13
So Shelvey deleting his Twitter account is true then?

Seriously, what the hell is this sh*t!

We abuse our owners (and their familes) and our players. Is the aim to make them feel as discouraged and unconfident as possible?

Jonjo may not be the finished article, he will have off days and make mistakes.....but he's young and imo he certainly does try!

Is Such disgusting behaviour is really going to encourage better perfomances?! I doubt it!

United Kolours Of Bennetton

PS, imo Sturidge will get us goals.....he will be good for us and we need him!

PPS, WHERE'S THE FAMOUS LIVERPPOL FC SUPPORT GONE? We as the LFC fans/supporters need to start showing some support again! Real support! Yes, I'm with the notion that Kenny should have had more time but I still support BR.....because he's our manager! Its our duty to support!

The famous Liverpool support left the building with the famous Liverpool team, the famous Liverpool managers and the famous Liverpool players.

Football has changed with SkyTV. It's all about money and instant success.
It's a billion dollar industry, not a game.

You can't keep harping back to the past, football has been bought by the rich spivs whilst the loyal working man has to listen on the radio.

I wish all footballers woud delete their twitter accounts. They're an embarrassment

29 Dec 2012 16:23:49
It's going to go the way of the Dodo i'm afraid mate.
Especially if cynics like (no names mentioned) continue on what i can only imagine is a mission to make all fans as miserable and hate fueled towards the club as they are.
I get speaking your mind and all, but unfounded accusations get us nowhere, and the way some of them try to force it down our throats makes me wonder if there are latent homosexual tendencies there?

It's sad really, when people find the need to ridicule and criticize other fans when they are trying to rally support for our great club. I suppose when the chips are down you find out whos really a supporter, and those who are just fans.

WelshBoyDave

It's always been a money industry!

The thing I want to now is how we know they are Liverpool supporters? Perhaps or like many 'haters' on here, Trolls who support other teams and for some reason get it off abusing our club

Totally agree 2nd poster.
If a club is not managed well, then expect disharmony.
LFC deserves better, sadly with FSG and BR we will never get it.

29 Dec 2012 14:23:59
Thanks.
Also just watching the spurs game. Clint is a substitute again. He doesn't strike me as someone who is happy on the bench more often than not.

In my opinion if we signed him... American owned club with arguably most famous American player we'd make any fee in USA shirt sales?

Would it be unheard of for a push for him in January considering he only signed for spurs in last window?

Oh and what do you think his wages are ? {Ed002's Note - The money from shirt sales would not go to Liverpool but to Warrior.}

29 Dec 2012 14:20:36
Great to hear from Macca, but I dont agree.
Money wise FSG may be stabilising us that's very good. But every other decision appointment etc. has been a shambles! I don't understand why people have faith in Rodgers, there is little on his CV to merit the belief that his vision can rebuild LFC and as for FSG we have slid further back under them and they have helped produce more chaos and instability. I think the futures bleak Macca

Remind me what ferguson had done before he took united to the top?

Won the SPL and the UEFA cup with Aberdeen.

Not many managers have taken on the Old Firm and won.

SORRY?

Sir Alex had won the Scottish League and the Uefa Cup Winners Cup and Super Cup so alot compared to Rodgers.

Read history before you question my points.

Alex ferguson was a winner before he went to utd. brendan has done what? got the boot twice and a team up in the play offs, cant even compare them.

Friends - we are talking Scottish football here

Puzzled

Come on Puzzled. Scottish football or not, he also won the European Cup Winners Cup with Aberdeen.
AJH

And European football.

He won his domestic league title and a european trophy.

Can't say the same for Bren.

Puzzled in 60yrs people will speak in awe of Fergie, in 6 months Rodgers career will be over. GET REAL HE IS WOEFULL.

And yes im a Liverpool fan.

29 Dec 2012 14:25:10
Sturidge is okay but please no Ince and Butland is not a priority as we have Jones and Gulasci. We need more forwards and we can pick any two from Loic Remy, Mbokani, Aubameyang, Garry Hooper and Wilfred Bony.

In the summer, we can sign Isimat Mirin, Momo Sissoko and and a left back.

Shelvey needs to go on loan while Downing would be sold. Also we need to let Carrol return to Newcastle for some coins if West Ham do a Milan and Old Lady.

We can use the money to sign a creative midfielder as Gerard is always in a haste to play long balls as opposed to creative tiki taka. He should play deeper and let Lucas and Allen play further up the pitch.

If we have these strikers, we'll surely score goals for fun and win Matches. But should Rodgers insist on buying more average players like he did last summer, then we'll be in real mess.

Abroad Red.

You don't have a clue mate

Your choices in signings are either laughable, unheard of or just plain wrong. Momo Sissoko? You're joking yes? Don't you think we have enough central midfielders on the books? The only good call was a left back and that goes without saying. Who were you going to suggest? Go on I fancy a good laugh

Lucas is primarily a defensive midfielder, he would not be very good further up the pitch! Gerrard HAS been playing deeper, and his long range passing is phenomenal, 9/10 reaches the man. Why? Because there is quick passing before the big pass which pulls opposing players in, allowing space to form for wider player which Gerrard can pick out more often than not with his 'long balls'.

Let's look at who Rodgers bought in the summer, none of which 'average' buys:
Allen - been one of our better players, few off days but generally good. Not average
Borini - barely had the chance to prove himself
Assaidi - when had the chance, has usually impressed. young potential, not average.
Sahin - a real madrid player speaks for itself. 3 goals this season so far, contributed well, not average for a midfielder.
Yesil - cant really comment on

29 Dec 2012 14:14:57
people say we should not blame rodgers? but who then, this is his team, his style of play his boot room staff. not one part on the pitch did we look good against stoke or comfortable. from defence to attacking options. you have to play with the team you have got. l know alot of managers who would like to have the players we have in our squad. its up to the manager to get the best from the players. which dosent help when all players are playing out of natural positions. playing system that does not suit the players. joe allen could have waited till january, we needed a striker! The club has to come first over rodgers ego. i still cant see where this team has improved since brendan rodgers took over. The stats speak for themselves. hoping things improve next year, but dont see how with only ambition of buying chelsea reserve squad. start looking at academy & borell if really want to rebuild!

Bar allen whos played out of position its not his team is it?

Spurs are not AVB's team
Chavski is not Rafa's team
WBA is not Clarke's team
Swansea is not Laudrup's team
Norwich is not Hughton's team.

So why are they all performing better than Bren?

29 Dec 2012 14:13:31
Bremdan says we dont have the big finances that other clubs have. But a month or so ago tom werner says we have the finances to compete with any club. If this is so why are we looking at risk players rather than spend the extra on someone u know what u are getting? Is it just so clubs dont hold us to ransom like they have before so we can maybe get a better price? Cant be that because we are looking at ince 6m risk? Then in summer we couldnt afford a 6m dempsey {Ed002's Note - I think you misheard what Werner said.}

"The owners are always willing to provide funds where necessary to strengthen the squad. There will be no requirement to sell players this summer in order to fund new purchases, " - LFC Statement, June 2012 following Rodgers appointment

"Ian Ayre is an outstanding managing director, " - Tom Werner, April 2012

"I would say we certainly have the resources to compete with anybody in football, " - Tom Werner, April 2012

Ed002? Kind of contradicts your take on FSG completely.

{Ed002's Note - The comment I made still stands and is correct, however much of an embarrassment you wish to make of yourself by providing all of these quotes. Quite frankly perhaps you should just go to the games and burn effigies of the owners to try and get your point across. The owners have already been driven from attending games so far this season by some of the so called fans. Clearly you don't want the club run responsibly and just want to see vast spending - and I doubt it matters to you who the money is spent on.}

I saw the interview werener said we have the finaces to compete with any cllub in the transfer market

mike {Ed002's Note - Go look at it again and listen to the words he says.}

Shut it u silly Rodger u waisted 28 millions were we dontve to spend, and more flops. We spend only on flops, and then u sed I don't have money, the matter its hu u can attract, my advice recall carrol for plan b.

I saw that Interview of Tom Werner too ED002 and he did say those word's! {Ed002's Note - Collective mishearing - looks like a story for the medical journals.}

Quality reply ed

Clue: He doesn't say "finances" and he doesn't mention the transfer market

Ed002, don't need to scold me. TW talks rubbish and has heaped a lot of expectation and criticism on FSG. The quotes are available for everyone to see and you don't need a PHD to interpret them.

They have done some good and I'm not making my FSG out banner but trying to explain why the unrest is growing.

My suggestion to JH would be to stop Werner talking nonsense with promises, stop running the club via skype and appoint a proper CEO to run the club and make football decisions, stop hiding behind FFP and for heavens sake move along with the stadium redevelopment.

If not they will be hounded out like H&G and not achieve their long term aim to build LFC up again and sell for a profit.

Does Damien Comolli's departure have any impact upon Kenny Dalglish's position as manager?Absolutely not. We've got great confidence in Kenny. We feel the team is going to make strides in the future and he enjoys our full support.

Is this part of the same interview? If it is, it tells me he can lie with the best of them.

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - To be fair IR, Comolli's departure did not have any direct impact on Dalglish losing his job.}

How many on here have the Expertise or Experience in a Managing Director role at a multi-Million pound company to have any sort of view on it

Its laughable some Chav. on his computer at his mum and dad's house judging how some one runs a massive company

Lyndon

29 Dec 2012 17:25:34
ha ed002 getting schooled again.

Warners comments are not open to interpretation at all..."we have the resources to compete with anybody"

Please ed oh holy one please tell me how this sentence can possibily be interpreted any other way than what it clearly suggests?

Even the context of the question he was answering referred to building the squad so what are you on about?

If this doesnt demonstrate to everyone how totally inept you are then nothing will.

It must be embarrassing for you when you are made to look a person but you would get a lot more respect if you just came out and admitted you were wrong for once.

{Ed002's Note - As you know Liam my comment was correct in that that Werner did not say "we have the finances to compete with any club". All you have done is further embarrassed yourself (yet again) with you rather sad grizzling. Why do come to the site in various guises, with different names - you were what last week? Oh yes, you were Dean last week. This week I see we are heading down the anonymous route again. I wonder why you keep coming back to the site that you promised to have shut down; the site you were to have your super-power enabled friends in the Internet Police have shut down on your behalf? It is of course fun for us all most of the time and it brings a smile to the face of many. But like your father, I also think there were better things he could have done with his dick the night you were conceived.}

Yes Lyndon.
But a managing director who has failed in his mandate, any other self respecting company would have sent him packing for poor performance.
You speak favourably of Ayre, so what are his qualifications, its a big step from Commercial to Managing Director.
Ian Ayre's worth is negligible.
Consider the P&L accounts during his tenure, do they reflect a man of suitable qualification and ability.

If by start of next season Liverpool and financially balanced the books and increased Liverpool's income commercially he has done his job!

What his job description says on the tin

eds, not really transfer news i know, but is it true that sturridge has been training with us? someone posted it on facebook, but i can't find it anywhere

Been reading some of the posts about Rick Parry coming back.

I have to believe FSG are not stupid enough to re-employ the man solely responsible for taking us to the brink of administration, also taking into account that apparently it was purely him that brought Robbie Keane to the club for 18 million.

I have to believe it to keep my sanity.

John B

John b totaly agree with u it would be shocking if this was true but would u put it past a unknowledgeable fsg

grego

Same thing I was thinking, unfortunately.....it seems to be true!

And I agree with you about the Keane situation......but imo the worst part of it was Selling him back to Spurs like 6 months after we bought him for how much....like 12 mil or something? Madness!

Hi Eds , just wondering here , thanks for replying in advance....

Based on the footie we play and log standings , is AVB a better coach than BR , or is it mainly because Spurs are just a class above us ?

anyone else can share their thoughts too .

ciah {Ed002's Note - I am not sure that such measurements can be made. I was always concerned that neither was really ready for their moves to Chelsea or Liverpool. But both are learning all of the time.}

Oh spurs that signed TWO of BR's main targets?

They also have a better all round team

Hi

Re: sparkythewonderdog

Eds perhaps you could shed some light?

Who is jonjonjo and who is sparky? Who is dandanda (demba ba?)

{Ed002's Note - You need to print out the Twitter feed and read from the bottom up.}

Sparky used to belong to Huey Driscoll and was brought back to life after being killed when hit by a truck.
I don't know how Pep got hold if him

We'd probably be still watching boring, negative football or more than likely bankrupt. Respect to Rafa for what he has done for the hillsborough families but the only way he should be allowed back into Anfield is to watch.

There are a lot of managers who can replace rodgers very easily and do better job after all rodgers is not fit to manage our reserve forget liverpool

Biesla or van gall are few of them as I said there are many managers who are qualified to manage us then mr yes man

Gordy wat do u want to watch playing rubish football and loose all the time ie rodgers or good solid football and win a lot more then we loose and dont forget we sored a lot of goals under rafa gerrard would consistently get 20 a season then torres in his first got nearly 50 thats just to players hardly boring is it and 200 mill over 6 seasons is 33 milion just about a season witch is wat rodgers has spent get a grip u person there is no comparrison rafa is far better then this pass side ways and bacwards rodgers even kennys football was far supirior

grego

Another cheap mid table manager.
BR sacked at watford, Reading, junior team manager at Chealsea, took over ready made mid table Swansea team. What chance does this poor guy have. Lose at QPR the pressure will really start and then the search will start.

Van gaal.....

SOS....Spirit of Shankly

Not exactly the right ethos there fella!

Kopite 81

Louis Van Gaal is the Dutch National coach.
There are plenty of good managers out there.
Most are foreign, a number are available.
Kenny never had the 3 seasons advocated for Rodgers. Liverpool hit the post 31 times and Kenny lost Lucas early on. He did get us to two domestic cup finals.
So lay off Kenny.

It is likely we will beat QPR. Yet anything is possible with 'Arry in charge?

If Parry is advising FSG, then heaven help us.

can u all imagine if rafa never left and was still with us now were would we be top four for sure and challenging the top its so nice to here he will never rule us out his little girls are scousers through and through they stay in liverpool even though he has to work round the world and now at chelsea wat he did for are club and the 96 is top notch and even if he doesnt return should be remembered as a liverpool legend i for one would welcome him back with open arms a million times better than rodgers!

grego

What on earth possesses you to think he would have us in the top four - he took us to 7th in his last season and got us playing the most boring football I've seen in over 50 years as a Kopite.

He will never be considered a legend - he was a complete arrogant self publicist, who couldn't handle the psychological battle with other managers.

He should have won the PL with the players he had with us - even he should eventually win the PL with squad and money Chelsea have.

He is purely a money manager, certainly not a good coach - zonal marking, he really was having a laugh.

John B

He left us 7th with a team that read,
reina
johnson carragher agger aurelio
lucas mascherano
maxi gerrard riera
torres.

i say it again, 7th with that team!

take off the rafa rose tinted glasses, that team is world class but he lost the support of the dressing room.
the problems and damage was irreparable!
move on or support chelsea.

s.p

John b boring football was it twenty a saeason gerrard thirthy to forty torres thats just two players zonal marking a joke was it sorry didnt we consistantly have one of the best defences year on year cleary u no wat ur talking about dont u. yes he finished 7 in his last year one bad year out of six not bad really is it now look wat we have a pass sideways backwards realy slowly footbal great to watch we were miles more eciting under kenny and dont get me started on his tatics look at stoke rediculas

grego

John B We're playing zonal marking now under Rodger's! Rafa is 10 time's the manager Rodger's is! And he's got the record to prove it! How on earth you can be so dismissive of Rafa is beyond me? He is a LFC legend in my eye's! Only two previous manager's have won what he won for us! And only one previous manager won it in his first season before Rafa did!

John B .... Are we talking about the same Rafa? The one who took us to 2nd and with a couple of better results (two wins instead of draws) would have given us the league? The one whose team thrashed MU 4-1 at Old Trafford? The one who had identified so many great players now at Man City & Chelsea but Dumb & Dumber wouldn't finance them?

Visit this site on a daily basis and I've been saying all along that I believe in Rodgers but not sure about FSG.
But I don't come here saying they should sell up and leave, I've watched our club win countless trophies in the last 30+ years, where were the other clubs then? We ruled every thing, they spent the time re building to take us down while we lived in our history, liverpool have been on the downward since souness took over, not blaming him just saying its been going on for that long, yeah rafa did ok but it took £250 million, for that money I wanted a lot more than a couple of cups and a 2nd.
Y blame Rodgers for getting rid of players? We are saving half a million a week in wages to try and balance the books, would u rather we shut down due to bankruptcy? There is no quick fix, we can all go on about the signings we want to bring back the glory days, who would u lot blame if we bought cavani and he didn't settle? It's all well and good playing fifa or what ever and demanding this player and that player, but it ain't gonna happen and if it did would it put us back financially and would it even work.
Our players look lost, we need to ask ourselves why? When you go to work and if u had thousands of people telling u u were crap and dead wood would u want to even go to work? No u wouldn't so y expect it to be different for the players some of which are kids, trying to play for LFC while being battered by their own fans.
Some of you on here are a disgrace, u don't deserve the right to call your self a liverpool fan, to support a team it means just that, SUPPORT. It's all well and good saying how fantastic we are when we win, but it's when we lose our team needs real support, believe and confidence. We have some amazing you g talent and some excellent experience to help them, they need our support as well not all this disgraceful dis respect.
Sorry to rant but enough is enough, our team is our team, we have sound business men as owners, the right ones yet to decide but I'd rather have people in charge that have a vision than people who want a quick fix leaving us in a financial mess again, and give BR the be respect he deserves every game not just when we win, put your efforts into supporting, if we want the glory days back bring the athmosspere back, show our team we are the best fans in the world be the twelfth man, perhaps then they will remember who they are plying for and be proud to where the mighty red shirt and want to fight for the win to give us more to shout about.

Rant over
Lifelongred

29 Dec 2012 14:19:17
Fully agree Lifelongred. This rebuilding job won't happen overnight. As Macca states it will be at least 3-4 transfer windows before BR gets the right players for his type of football. We're going to experience highs AND lows during that time. It's vital that the fans remain united together in their support for the team, BR, the owners and everything else LFC.

United we conquer, divided we fall.

Gordy

I couldn't have said it better myself. Well written Lifelongred.
I just wish some of the fans could show more patience and realise that this building process will take time and not happen over night! People forget how bad it got under G + H and how close to disaster LFC got. We haven't got rich Arab's etc waiting in the wings to buy the club, so we have got to remain patient and do what Lifelongred says and knuckle down and support the team!!
It will all change if one or more of the Jan signings take off for us in the New Year.
Now come on....lets get behind em fellow reds.....

^ You make two stand out topic's in your post! 1. That the player's look lost! And who's fault is that? 2. The lack of atmosphere at Anfield! What have the paying public been watching at Anfield since 09 10 season? How many game's have we won at home since the start of the 09 10 season through till now? Not very many! Even when we were playing as some would say "Boring" football under Rafa the ground was still very vocal!

I believe our players look lost due to lack of confidence, learning from numerous managers different routines and probably think they have turned up at the wrong ground. How many have people talked about the fans of our team, the atmosphere of anfield, yet our current team walk out and if they struggling where is the support where is the singing? We are to blame for the athmosspere not the owners and not the team, the shouting and singing are our way of showing the players on the pitch that we are there to support them, to give them a lift to get the hairs on the back of their necks standing up, and to remind the visiting team just where they are playing and who they are playing against.leave the team selection down to Rodgers let him do his job, let the players play their football. We need to stand up and show them why we are the best fans any where in the world, to show them Liverpool FC Is a place to fight for with fans on their side, they shouldn't have to worry about the next days abuse, our players need us and our club needs them playing with believe.

Lifelongred

You say that the player's lack confidence but who get's paid to instill that confidence? Brendan Rodger's! For the last three season's we've been getting beat by the lesser side's of the premiere league at home even Fulham beat us at home last season! And the fan's are not soft when we have 70% possession 20 odd shot's at goal and come away with a goalless draw or a defeat it's not on! I think the player's have lost confidence with Rodger's tactic's!

Or do u think the players are plane fed up of their own fans turning on them?

Four year's ago under Itchy and Scratchy LFC were challenging for the premiership! Then we got bought by FSG Which made the club a lot more secure! But football wise we're worse off! A lot of people think because we're not playing CL football top player's won't come! But in fact it's the reluctance to pay top wage's that's stopping them even considering us! If FSG's plan is to make us successful and then sell at a profit well they need to speculate to accumulate!

The worst employee LFC have ever had in their long history - it was him and Moores that took us the brink of administration and left us in the state we are in now.

It was also him that informed other clubs that certain players were available for transfer - without telling the players concerned.

just been watching a web site soccer saturday and tommo nd charlie nicholas made great points about our signings r sturridge and ince going to be an improvement on what we've got a chelsea reject and a player from the championship we got rid of for peanuts i really dont think so. also we're the signings we made in the summer improved our first team the answer is no again. our best players of this season are players whos already at out club. our scouting system needs to sort it self out as does br he needs to realise he's not at swansea anymore.

NEred

We are not in a position to have the pick of the best players in the world at the moment or possibly in the near future, we do not have the financial muscle of Chelsea or man city & have no champions league at the moment, we have to be shrewd with signings & promote youth, think the likes of joe Allen, borini, Sturridge & ince will prove value for money in the future & factor in the potential of suso, Kelly, coady, wisdom & sterling it will take time but we have no other choice, & killing Brendan & the young players after a defeat (all defeats are disappointing) I see the only positive is to support them at this time.

Just watching Sunderland Spurs and wondering if other people agree that footy in general is a bit like watching paint dry these days?

the decent matches are few and far between

curious what others think....but I just think it has lost its' soul a bit. a bit like when formula one turned into a business more than the sport. the team that spends the most more often than not wins etc.

would love a west brom or newcastle to show patronising git fergie what "wee clubs" can do and start beating the mancs week in week out

It's only the people employed by the TV as pundits and inside our game that says it's the best league in the world.

Truth is the Bundesliga, La Liga, the Eredivisie and even Serie A - are far more skilful and exciting that what the PL currently is.

Proof is the PL cannot attract the worlds best players anymore, with the odd exception.

John B

Spot on John b, the technical ability in la liga is far superior & long ball football is almost non-existent the premiership was once the pre-eminent league just as the Italian league was in the late 80's early 90's all things change
Paisley's genius

Everyone in Spain that follows football view it as the best league in the world...

Kenny wasted the money he was given! Pure and simple! And set us back as a club about 3 year's if not longer!
_______________________________________

Were you expecting the likes of cavani or higuain or falcao if so then your fool coz even with 100M to spend we couldn't afford them coz owners despite allowing 100 from players sales to be spent but wanted players on cheap wages and were very very happy after seeing players got sold who were on decent wages and replaced them with cheap wages. Its clear that their policy of cheap wages is not working at all they need to be flexible if we think decent players can achieve us top4 then we should be able to pay them decent wages coz giving manager 100M to spent and want players on 60-70k aweek is no use

Why bring my post up? Kenny did waste all that money! everybody agree's he did! What i was expecting was better player's and a higher placed finish than what we got! And apparently so did FSG!

29 Dec 2012 12:44:25
Good morning eds and fellow posters,

Sometimes I read this page and I honestly wish that some people would get what they wish for just so they could see how bad things could get. There are people who want our owners gone claiming they never put money in, they glance at Manchester city and Chelsea and are jealous of their finances. I think these people should look at ALL the owners which have been involved in football not just the successful ones. If fsg sold up tomorrow who would you want buying us? Perhaps someone like carsen yeung, thaksin shinawatra, the "rich" Arab that bought portsmouth, perhaps the one which bought Malaga? The truth is anyone of these or someone just like them could've bought us and ruined us. There are lots of people out there looking to buy and abuse football clubs and all of these passed the fit and proper test. I hope one just like these does buy the club just so those complaining about the current owners can see what a bad owner in it for a quick quid is really like. Fsg allowed Kenny to spend Every penny of the transfers of Torres and Babel, surely if they were just in it for money they would've stopped him for doing that and collected that money as profit for their investment?

Next I hope that Rodgers leaves and then Everyone can watch Kenny fail with the players he bought and try to fix the problems he created. The issues we currently have were there long before Rodgers came along he didn't bring these problems but he is getting blamed for it while Kenny gets Every excuse available and completely resolved of anything. Yes we got to two cup finals and won one but so what? I would expect after 100m worth of players being brought in that at least one cup success is standard, not impressive. I also expect someone bringing in that value of players to be in top 4 as well as that trophy. The fa cup final means nothing because history doesn't care about who was runner up. Kenny is a truly great man who means a lot to the whole city of Liverpool, but he wouldn't be able to get us in top 4 in one year. We can't buy our way out of this because that's what Kenny was supposed to be doing last year. I wanted him to get another year because I could see some potential in our team but if he had stayed we would be no better off, it's arguable we might have been worse since Rodgers has improved Enrique and downing this year and got rid of Carroll, who people can stop crying about now he's playing for a team that plays to his strengths and still can't score.
In addition to this there have been a couple of mentions that Kenny was struggling a little, physically, with the pressures of being a modern manager.

If Rodgers left who would take over? Not who COULD but who WOULD? The hot seat was open in summer and there were only a couple of applicants. Guardiola, mourinho, and Every other "big" managers were too scared of this job to apply. Our choices were Martinez, avb, and Rodgers. That's it. We need to accept that this is not 1980 and we are no longer the European super club we were. Players and managers no longer clamour to join us, we are not considered the same as united, Madrid or Milan anymore. This limits our choices, and it's an extremely tough place to escape from, just ask everton. The people wanting Rodgers and Fsg gone don't understand what they are wishing for.

Don't stay trapped in the past, accept it's gone and join the present. Support the current team and manager/owners or crack out your vintage videos of the 70's and 80's and enjoy watching Liverpool instead of letting what you currently detest spoil your feelings for something you once loved. I believe with enough time and support we can turn it around, but it requires us all to support the same people at the same time.

Thanks for reading, comments appreciated as always.

29 Dec 2012 13:43:17
Nevada mate I'm sure malaga are not doing bad as liverpool are they

All good points Nevada. Especially agree with you on the point about BR getting blamed for problems that have been there long before he came in. Perhaps one or two of the players are the problem?

The real AG

Totally disagree with your comments about Kenny and Rodgers.
When you say Kenny spent over 100 million, you have to include the amount of money recouped from player sales. straight away you have 50 million for Torres.
Kenny was royally screwed over by the media, the FA, Suarez himself and FSG. It all went wrong with the Suarez incident. Firstly the FA got it all wrong. Secondly the media were after Kenny like a pack of wolves. Thirdly FSG came along and sacked the medical team, Comolli and most of the admin staff. Kenny was practically a dead man walking.
He knew it and the players knew it, if we hadn't been doing so well in the league and League Cup this time last year, Kenny would have been sacked there and then over the Suarez-Evra incident.
Look at his results pre and post Suarez-Evra. The truth will be revealed to you.

Secondly you brazenly claim the problems with the club were here before Brendan arrived.

Are you sure? Did we have a defensive problem last year?
Did we have a lack of experience in the squad last year?

Lots of the problems are of Brendan's own making and I for one am pig sick of the excuses.
He should be a man and fall on his sword, he's not up to the job and he's conning a wage out of us.

29 Dec 2012 12:49:32
If I was Brad Jones is would be really ticked off at being dropped as soon as Reina was fit. Jones has been greatly superior to Reina this year and pulled off a string of Buffon-esque saves when he was in the side.

Jones conceded a fair amount of goals and cannot be mentioned in the same breath as buffon lol

Both Jones & Reina are avg at best (Reina's performances 3 years ago are in the past guys).

I'm going to go ahead and assume this was sarcasm...

29 Dec 2012 12:46:15
Sturridge, Ince, Holtby and Butland is a good transfer window if you ask me.

Agree but I think with Holtby being an Arsenal fan he will be destined for there. I'd love us to go for Zarate though. Plus a cheap option too.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - I think you will find that Holtby is a fan of Everton.}

Holtby is an evertonian and zarate is pants.

29 Dec 2012 11:10:19
Before everyone asks for BR to be sacked surely you need to look at who would replace him, who is available..

I believe we need to give him time, we have brought through some good young players who will develop into real quality..

It is difficult to compare with previous managers as the squad is totally different, we have lots of youth but not a lot of experience..

This rebuilding is clearly going to take a good couple of seasons as the owners are not prepared to through obscene amounts of money at it.

I think it is far to early to condemn the likes of Borini and Allen, they need to be given time to bed in..

I also believe that Sturridge will improve the squad dramatically, personally i am not sure about Ince ( not seen enough of him to comment)..

This season the owners are on a cost cutting exercise, lets be honest it is needed if we still want to be here in 20 years time. The wages we where paying for average players is astronomical..

We have proven that in the majority of games we have been the better side and with a proper striker we could have been a lot higher in the table.
Also if some of those horrific decisions had not gone against us, disallowed goals, penalties that were not given things would be slightly different..

Again my major concern is how long will Suarez hang around while we are rebuilding, who would blame him if he wanted to leave..

I do believe we need to get behind our great club and show other clubs that we are the best fans in the world.

It has been tough on the pitch but at least of the pitch the families of Hilsborough are finally getting the justice and support they deserve..

Cheers

Macca
{Ed033's Note - Confirmed as the real Macca

Mourhinho will be available at the end of the season and we should push the boat out for him.

Let's bring in a proven winner, instead of Managers with 180 page dossiers and nothing to back them up.

redmersey

A voice of reason, well said. Some people's expectations are a bit unrealistic. I know we are LFC and should be aiming to win every game, but this will take a bit of time. Also, I am looking forwards to Sturridge playing as well. I think if he stays injury free, he will do us a lot of good.

Nick

I agree it is clear we have lacked a decent striker for a long time. suarez himself says it is not his position but he tries his best but is trying to pass the ball to himself sometimes and overruns it a lot of the time.

but then again this was the same problem with dalglish's team...all we lacked was a decent striker. 20 or so chances every game, more than any other club in his first half of the season before the suarez stuff happened. I can't work out why rodgers and/or fsg didnt make sure this was sorted pre season, and in fact made it worse by offloading carroll before dempsey signed.

the one thing that worries me most is the atmosphere at anfield is silent. there is a distinct lack of passion at the moment for whatever reason. at least dalglish brought back that connection with the fans.

I agree about giving rodgers more time, especially if he gets a decent couple of extra strikers, but I guess I would have given dalglish more time aswell. our form only dipped after the dark lord ferg and his mates at the fa didnt like the way suarez walked through his defence and decided to overcook a nothing incident. thats when our form dipped. yet again fergie manipulates the officials to achieve success. events of the recent weeks prove that this has now clearly gone too far. mancini and redknapp rapped for jokes after the game. fergie allowed to intimidate refs and linesmen IN the game. does anyone know who fergie has in his pocket at the fa? are they all in the same branch of the masons or something?

Jim

All teams get bad deals from the refs so nots start by bringing bad luck into, last year it was , if we would not have hit the woodwork so often, blah blah blah, we're buying back cast offs, and players other teams deam not good enough, as for Allen Rodgers is on record saying he would have paid many more millions for his services how bizarre, Allen has no assists, and no goals, he's bang average, as for borini we have not seen enough but he'll have to improve on what we've seen so far

Exactly what any true Liverpool supporter is or should be feeling/thinking. It is time to get behind the team and manager 100% and stop looking for any negatives and predicting failure. Give the players the confidence to try and don't berate them if something does not come off.

I agree with most of this but you say sturridge will improve the squad, which i agree with and then say with a proper striker we would be better off, sturridge i dont see as a proper striker so surely this should be priority before squad players?

Again an person with Mourinho's name.
Do you not see he only does well with teams with whom he has good amount of money to spend which he clearly isn't going to get here.

Class words from a classy guy in Macca

just 1 more thing where are all sing songs got at anfield bar ynwa . i dont recognise it anymore. us fans need to step up to the plate and lift the team cos thats what they need during every game

jambomb

Macca big fan of your posts but sturridge is a waste of money. I know he would improve the squad but haven't we got enough squad players its first teamers we need . I'm fed up of buy young players or overpriced british players , how much money are we going to waste . We could have got falcoa , turan and have millions in change instead of carol, henderson and downing . We need to start buying quality finished articles not gambling on potential.since when has Liverpool bought subs of other teams shocking is the only word for wasting so much money and not learning from it

Brilliant post Macca. I only saw ince in one or two games and he has a bag full of tricks, and moves the ball quickly. I hope he improves his finishing though.

Not only because you real Macca and bringing info regularly...I agree that all the points that you mentioned there are true. Rodgers knows what he wants.
It is not happening yet but it his not fault only_sometimes stupid strategies and subs, but not entirely his fault.Players think they are world beaters after one game and then get slopy in second and loose.
We are LFC supporters, support our team...that is only way to show the others that even at bad times we stick together.Believe me, sucess gona taste much better if we stick together now!

Spot on... I believe in the fella!

29 Dec 2012 14:11:31
Whilst I agree with the sentiment Macca, did FSG look at who was going to replace King Kenny before they sacked him?

I will never forget that cringeworthy few weeks of "the Boston tea party" interview process with Dave Whelan giving the media a running commentary and making our club look like a laughing stock.

These lads (FSG) have a history of sacking managers after half a bad season and they don't look for a replacement before they decide to act.

29 Dec 2012 14:11:50
Macca mate are we looking to improve our squad or our first team coz we already have got enough young or squad players why waste money on another squad player or you think stuirridge is going to solve our goal problems or sturridge is going to take us to next level if not then why waste money on him instead we should be looking at out and out striker who can solve our Goal problems.

29 Dec 2012 14:12:46
Sorry Macca, I disagree with you about Rodgers.
You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Suarez will not wait ten years.

Ref

I think people need to understand that mourinho, guardiola, klopp and all the other top names are not going to come to liverpool. We don't have champions league and we don't have a good squad right now and plus they will want obscene amount of money. Whoever thinks that they will come to us are out of their minds.
Look this rebuilding job was never going to be easy. You just cannot expect top 4 right away. What we have to accept is that the teams which are in the top 7 have better squads than us except west brom. It's going to take atleast one or two more years to build a good squad and to be consistent. A lot of people say look at west brom or everton they are doing so well but that is short term success. They are having a good season just like newcastle had one last season. To get long term success we'll have to build up our squad and that doesn't take 1 season, it'll take atleast 2-3 seasons. Till then we can only bitch and cry. So lets get behind the team.

Macca as always your posts are a breath of fresh air

29 Dec 2012 14:13:24
Hi Macca, You always give us great information and good insight into the team. However, you always leave me with thoughts to be read between the lines.

Last year you mentioned about shuffle in the managers chair way before we could have even guesses about Kings sacking and Comolli leaving.

On the similar note with your mention now of Suarez's possibility to leave in the near future, it seems you know something that you do not want to divulge. I will begin to prepare myself for a team without Suarez in the next season.

Thanks for all info and it is always appreciated.

Macca respect what your saying mate but i remember in the summer you said the owners were willing to spend even werener said we can compete for the top players it's hard to back rodgers. there is just no improvement. he let carrol go won't even recall him. yes he wouldn't start maybe but we don't have plan b or c and carrol would be a great plan b.

rodgers is not a motivater. look at his team talks on that documentary, would that motivate you? his signings have been poor we need an experienced striker like you say, not more potential.

yes i also like sturidge but still not going to be that experinced guy. same record as hodgson if we loose to qpr then for me he has to go and you say who is there. well there is one man who would jump at it and that's rafa. he has come out in the press the last couple of days and said his family still live there and that he would never rule us out and for me is excactly what we need. look what he's done at chelsea already. just shows how good he is and why he wasn't even interviewed was shocking.

don't know who is advising fsg but clearly they don't know a lot. i still beleive fsg are right for us i hope. yes they have made mistakes but they just need to come to the fore and quick if they think rodgers is right back him to the hilt. give him funds and if not then there is only one thing to do, welcome home mr benitez

Well put Macca. Here is hoping we see some significant improvement sooner rather than later.

The real AG

He just spouts the obvious.

I'm fed up of people saying "this rebuilding is not an easy job"

Say what? You mean it's a difficult job?

So it would make sense not to fire a man with all the experience in the world a track record of success and a loyal fan base half way into the job and replace him with a punt.

That's basically what FSG have done. Given a bloody hard job to a novice with no experience, rubbish contacts and a novice backroom team.

The fact that it is such a hard job is exactly why I want Bren OUT!

29 Dec 2012 15:27:19
Think Macca is right let's give brendan & this young team time to grow we need to look at the long term development & nurturing as oppose to the fast food "mc donalds" approach of instant success which we can neither afford & simply isn't the Liverpool ethos I think the only option that had any immediate benefit is to support our manager & our team at this time..y.n.w.a jft96
Paisley's genius

29 Dec 2012 19:17:59
usaully agree 100% with Maccas posts, not this time. rodgers isnt up to the job.

Thankyou for your insight into things, as you can gather we are all a tad not too optimistic. Keep us informed of any transfer news please.

anyone know when the tickets for the zenit game go on sale?
NAVANRED

Unfortunately today's football is ruled by money. We can wait and wait to re build but United, Chelsea and City will continue to spend and buy class players. United lost their crown on goal difference so what did Fergie do ? Go out and buy the best striker in the Premiership, which will probably secure them their 20th title. Whilst I agree FSG have saved the club from administration, they do not have the
finacial power to continually spend. We had our chance last season and blew it. Both Manchester clubs and Chelsea have all made mistakes in the transfer too.......The difference being, they have the owners to re spend and put things right. Whilst I really love the youngsters coming through, there also needs to be experience in the mix
too. This was really apparent against Stoke as we were out muscled in midfield and exposed at the back by Jones.

We'll wait to re build like we have dime for the last 6 years whilst the top 3 get stronger and stronger. I really hate the money side of football but unless we really invest in quality players, the club will continue to fall behind the top 4.

Bet he wasn't expecting that reply.

For those interested it seems Rick 'the clown' Parry is one of the advisors advising FSG.

He has impressed so much that he will return to the club in an official capacity, possibly replacing Ian Ayre.

All true watch this space!

I heard that brian barwick guy is too.

what a person. he was the guy who brought in steve mcclaren

the whole concept of owners needing advisors is insane. what are they doing in the sport if they can't be bothered to find out about it for themselves

To be honest, since FSG/Ayre have taken over we've gone from bad to worse.
The only saving grace is the lack of huge debt.

I'd welcome Parry over Ayre. Parry brought in Rafa and also practically set up the premier league.

Conversely he let the door open to Hicks and Gillett.

No wonder we're so h*ck*d up

We are doomed !

I hope not. That imbecile should be nowhere near the club.

Yes I've heard the same.

Parry is probably the biggest reason we are were we are in the craper this man should not be aloud anywere near this club

How much did Tottenham pay for Dembele? If it was less than we paid for Allen then that is truly a shame. He would add so much to our midfield.

Pretty sure they both cost 15 million, Spurs got the best deal though.

29 Dec 2012 14:03:32
I fail to see what dembele has done so great at spurs so far.

He only plays in about half of the games though, very injury prone, cracking player but bit of an anderton

29 Dec 2012 12:24:57
Just heard QPR are interested in Diame of West Ham as he is available for only 3.5m due to a release clause in his contract. In this case, do you not think he would be a good addition to outer squad; He's better than Henderson maybe Allen too. Also, after watching the Stoke game on Wednesday, what we evidently need are strong, willing players who also have the skill to make something happen.

3.5m is a snip, surely?!

Buddy can you spare a Daime

29 Dec 2012 12:18:04
I would love to see Diame at our club, please BR get him before Harry takes him to QPR

I said that we should've got him in the summer. A tremendous player but one of those boys who you appreciate more when you don't have him on the pitch, a bit like hamman or whealan. Just look at how we dominated west ham after he pulled the hamstring.

30 million for Cavani should just about do it, perfectly designed for the Premier League good in the air as well as an all round good finisher. Suarez and him are great friends and he has told Cavani the fans are great, the owners are willing to splash out if it gets us top 4. {Ed002's Note - The Uruguay player Suarez is great friends with is at Juventus. Napoli rejected two bids (equating to 55M euros) in the summer for Cavani so the owners will clearly need to look behind the sofa for a little more change.}

Why would one of the most sought after strikers iniEurope want to come and play for Liverpool right now?

It's not going to happen just shut up about it it's so boring

29 Dec 2012 12:07:15
Time to get real all the slagging off about losing to stoke, yes Liverpool of old should have turned them over but out of all the grounds in the league the Britannia is the most difficult! People crying for Rodgers to be sacked need to take a look at themselves, who is going to come in? Our poor form is reliant on our terrible squad and in that squad so much youth, no matter who is the manager that squad is the same. It's embarrassing seeing people come on here slag the team off, get behind them! A massive problem at Liverpool is us the supporters I go the games myself week in week out and the atmosphere is appalling teams use to be scared of coming to anfield because of the fans

Pretty sure the majority of fans who come on here are not going to the games with the same sentiments they express on here.

Our squad is better than WBA, Norwich, Swansea, Stoke and Everton but they are doing better than us, Who would replace BR ?
Take a look at the managers of these teams !!

How come in the summer everyone is all for selling Kuyt, Maxi and Bellamy 'the deadwood' but come December they all contradict themselves and wish they never left?

29 Dec 2012 12:20:03
Not me, I wanted dead wood like Cole, downing, Henderson and Carroll gone, I would have kept all of those players named for just one more season. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool players must love the respect shown to them by fans like you.}

All teams have their share of person fans though - the abuse towards Rafa and Mikel on the Chelsea pages a few weeks ago was horrendous and made the term Deadwood seem almost like a compliment in comparison. The large number of LFC posters means a larger number of persons too

cozinoz {Ed002's Note - Of course, but this poster was not saying anything about Chelsea or any other club. It doesn't make it right.}

I utterly respected Kuyt, Maxi and Bellamy as they gave 110% for the shirt even if they had a bad game they put a shift in, true professionals and credits to their profession.

Now I ask myself if the same can be asked of Cole, Carroll, Downing and Henderson? Well it can't I'm affraid. Cole is only here for a big pay day at our expense, Carroll is unfit and doesn't care, Downing has no backbone and goes missing too often and Henderson has no apparent ability which would be ok if he had any fight or mental toughness about him(which he doesn't).

So yes these guys are deadwood and we have every right to say so as they are paid a lot of money to be as inadequate as they are, if I was as incompetent as they are in my work I would rightfully expect to lose my post.

That is all.

29 Dec 2012 17:37:14
Ed002 ......................... {Ed002's Note - Astonishing stuff Liam - do you realise how much of an embarrassment you are to the Liverpool fan-base. It is not even funny. Your support of those abusing the owners and their families via Twitter and Facebook and those who, only a day or two ago, were abusing one of the players is pretty vile in my view. Up to now we just saw you as a damp stain that kept threatening to shut this site down and someone who took to constantly abusing me. But now, well perhaps you are a real threat to society? The omnipotent one who will control the internet - who will use social media to put their threats to drive the owners and their families from the club - who will drive out the players who fail to perform in even a single game. And why no new name Liam? Last week you re-invented yourself as Dean, but of course that didn't work out for you very well.}

29 Dec 2012 11:46:07
I read that JC (Joe Cole - not the other one although ours thinks that they are a match) wants 3.6 million to leave in January. As he is acting like a juvenile he should be treated like one and put into the Reserves until his contract is up. If I had my way I would just tell him not even to turn up for training until it is time to go. It may help his bank-balance but it won't help to further his 'career'. He has been one of the most disappointing signings that Liverpool have ever made. It really is time that such players realise what a privileged life they lead and put back something into the club that is paying them such a ridiculous and undeserved amount of money each week. Happy New Year to all the normal fans who come on to this (in my opinion THE BEST) site.
DM2012 {Ed002's Note - That would leave Liverpool in breach of contract and probably liable for paying up everything the club already owes to the player and the remainder of his contract in full. Great plan.}

What would leave Liverpool in breach of contract?
DM2012 {Ed002's Note - Putting in him the reserves and telling him not to turn up to training until it is time to leave as you suggest. He is also not acting like a juvenile.}

Actually it wouldn't be a breach of contract to leave him in the reserves or not play him at all, it would only be a breach if we stopped paying him or unless we had placed a clause stating he must be in the match day squad if fit and then left him out, now surely we wouldn't be that stupid would we? Oh wait...we signed him in the first place so literally anything is possible. {Ed002's Note - It is a restriction of trade and there have been several cases in the past regarding such matters in regard to the interpretation of Article 17 of the Regulations and the relationship between clubs and professional players.}

Sorry, I forgot - juveniles in England can't even add up to 3.6 never mind 3.6 million. It's all supposition anyway as I have no connection with LFC and can't (like you and the rest of the fans) make any decisions on behalf of the club. My point is that Cole hasn't done what he was contracted to do and as such is unworthy of any massive pay-off. If he can't survive on the proposed £30, 000 per week then he really is in a bad way!
DM2012 {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but you really don't seem to be able to understand either his contractual situation, what Liverpool already owes the player or what has been proposed in respect of a potential resolution to the issue surrounding him staying at Liverpool or not.

You bought him, you agreed the contract, you have to live with it. Just because his form has been poor doesn't mean you can try and ruin his 'career'

Cole is not fit for purpose

Have him warm the bench & play in the reserves for the remainder of his contract may make him financially ok, but if he really want's to play at the top level he will be willing to take a lot less, , Again.. greed....

Let's agree to disagree (AGAIN!). It just really annoys me when people are rewarded for failure. You probably have more knowledge than me about the contract (I think that you are referring to the signing-on fee that was spread over the duration) but for myself I would not be happy to accept anything that I didn't deserve. To be honest, it is a pity that any of us are wasting our time discussing a player like Joe Cole so I will say no more. Best wishes for the New Year.
DM2012 {Ed002's Note - It is not a reward for failure - it is the fullfilment of a contract. Would you feel happier if Joe Cole left in January only taking what is owed in signing on fee atht the rest of his wages for this season and dropping all claim on wages for next season?}

If the club didn't want to pay Cole his wages then they shouldn't have offered him a contract.

What's the problem with our fans? He's not asking for more like some jumped up wet behind the ears 17 year old. He's asking for what he's due.

What I do know is that Joe Cole has turned out to be one of the worst signings Liverpool have ever made , the wages he gets is obcene , and I just cant see the point in playing him or bringing him on as a sub ,
redforever

How is it Joe Cole's fault that someone at Liverpool was stupid enough to offer him such a huge wage? Did he pin them down and force them to sign it or something? And now things haven't worked out (well duhhh) you expect a professional player to just walk away and not demand the money he is due?

I wonder iif you'd be happy with that in your line of work?

This is down to Liverpool's stupidity, not Joe Cole's ethics or greed.

Perhaps your club should stop paying well, well over the odds for average players? Just a suggestion.

G

But Cara said he's a God on Merseyside. Buddah maybe

^ Purslow and Broughton! I think that Broughton had us off! Sacking Rafa! telling Torres that he'd be better off leaving and getting Joe Cole on extortinate wage's! all Chelsea related!

I've said before and to be honey hope that important wrong.but results are so bad and i believe that if we don't take 6 points from our next 2 games we will be involved in a relegation battle as harder games follow.
So br has to find something different as our position shows what hw is doing is not working.
All the talk of players coming in.? Br has to get it rite in the transfer window or it mat be his last.
Also fenway as much as they saved club are we in a better position ON THE FIELD than with the other two clowns.
2 years in charge 3 managers. Tow current one their choice not doing great. If they do have to sack him it would be 4 managers in over 2 years .
Not the Liverpool way.

Not sure we will get 6 points from our next two games , QPR will come out fighting , my guess is two or three points ,

morning eds, its not all down to rodger's the fact is some fan's should wake up.he (rodger's) pick's the best team we've got to put on the pitch from a very small group, the older player's in the 1st team need a wake up call and pull there sock's up and start pulling there weight.are young boys need time to bed in, some fans dont seem not to realise how young most of are boys in the 1st team are, the pressure on them must be unbelievable.rodger's has not got the money to splash in the way raffa, king kenny did.and lets be fair rodger's didn't inherit a lot did he.rodger's with time could sort it out.we should all get behind the team and get on the same page, for the size of liverpool football club we have a very small 1st team group for rodger's to chose from.i think fsg can and will back the gaffa and with one or two class player's im hoping will come in, along with 2 or 3 young player's they say are on there way in the door in this window.they could make all the difference to us.an please tell me joe cole dont want 3.6m to leave haha what a joke, he has played 42 bit part games over 2 an a half year's on 100, 000 grand a week nice work if you can get kiss the badge son, it makes my 300 quid a week look sick lmfao.cheers eds jay essex red for life red till dead as always walking on with hope...... {Ed002's Note - Liverpool gave Joe Cole a contract which reflected the fact that no transfer fee was paid so he was given a much more generous signing on fee. This was extrapolated across the entire contract and should it come to Joe Cole leaving, the remaining money owed to the player by the club needs to be paid. In addition to this, if the club wishes to negotiate the release of the player the two parties need to negotiate a fee to be paid. With 18 months remaining on his contract, a responsible person would likely look to being paid perhaps 6 months of that and giving up the other year - which will really help the club out. I appreciate that Joe is a Liverpool player and therefore must be susceptible to abuse by the fans, but do the math Jay, and perhaps then Joe Cole could be seen in a different light over this matter.}

Well , it looks to me that Joe Cole is on a win win situation , why did LFC not put themselves in a better position when signing him , I just hope that this will never be repeated , its no wonder that we have only one striker , my local pub team has three .
redforever

Cheers for that reply Ed002's.im with you at the end there perhaps joe cole will be seen in a different light and shirt.all im saying is for some of are high earner's need a kick up the backside and show why they earn the big money week in week out.joe cole for me is not 100.000 grand a week player and never has been.jay essex red for life red till dead.cheer's ed

Wait a minute......wait a minute Rodgers......this is political squirming at its best. It's acceptable to crack the whip at certain LFC players and wake them up to make them realize what shirt they wear but the issues are deeper than the players not showing character and these issues belong in your lap.

The wholesale changes in playing style (is tiki taka really going to work in the EPL?), shipping out of experienced players, ridiculous public relations talk (the 3 envelope nonesense??), the shambolic transfer window in the summer and the inflexibility in tactical play when playing different teams is the responsibility of BR and his back room team.

The reason the players are not responding consistently may be that they have lost confidence in BR and his coaches. The players seem unsure of their roles on the pitch, there is no direction. This has been a problem in attack for some time but now is apparent in defence........providing direction is the role of leaders ie BR.

So it's fine giving the players a rocket to gee them up but BR and his back room staff need to hold their hands up and take responsibility. That would be sign of a man who takes the weight of his responsibility seriously and has enough TRUE self confidence in his ability.

RedDoc

Hi RedDoc

I agree with most of what you say, I just want to see Rodgers breaking the mould and saying in public (not the Liverpool way I know, but some player are not giving their all as is the Liverpool way) who the dead weights are and what he intends to do about it.
I know this won't happen, but it may open up the fans thoughts of what is actually going wrong with our lack lustre displays this season.

Come on Rodgers, speak up, let the cat out of the bag of who and why some of our players are not cutting the mustard.

Big Bill

Agree 100% with you again mate! Rogers, has mismanaged the club since he came in.Should not have got rid of Carroll , that was arrogant. We did not need another centre mid ( Allen). Should have bought a Attacker with that money (we have been short up front for years). Now he says's my squad is paper thin, he done that all by himself.

Any sporting organisation is only about one thing and that is winning, style and substance of play develop over a course of time. Roger has decided to do it the other way round.

PJ

Very sad to say that I agree with you that BR has mismanaged LFC since he's come in:
His tippy/tikky/tappy (whatever it is) style is only functional in intervals in matches (when we are leading 2-0)
His transfer nous is absolutely non-existent (as far as we've seen)
Andy Carroll (surely) has his qualities but he got rid of him before even giving him a chance!
Have the players lost confidence in him/him coaching team? I pray to God that they haven't or we are in trouble.
Sorry and sad to say, I've lost confidence in BR and pray that he proves me wrong as I wish only success for LFC.
I'm not an Anti-fan, far from it, but fans have right to express opinions while still supporting the managers. We're not robots programmed to shout our support whatever happens at our beloved Liverpool FC.

These "yanks" also bought the club on the brink of administration and are now stabilising the club, many people seem to forget the £100+million given to dalglish to spend to make the squad a top 4 side but instead he blew it on ridiculous transfers and now we are a mid table side looking to rebuild....time to get real, can't blame the owners they have previously given the club money to spend without improvement would you keep throwing your money away with no return?

Why do people not realise that the Yanks never gave Kenny over £100m to spend. A good proportion of it was from outgoing sales (Torres, Meireles, Babel, etc). Another chunk of it would come from sponsorship deals, television money and gate receipts.

The Yanks may have signed the cheques but most of it never came from their own pockets.

As for those who say Kenny wasted the money - he was not given enough time to tell. I am convinced that, had he been given this season, those players would have been playing much better, in a much better system than we are playing now.

As an example, looking at Arsenal a few years back, Henry, Pires and Bergkamp were all poor in their first seasons. If Wenger had been given the sack for buying poor players, Arsenal would have missed out on one of the greatest sides in their history.

Finally, if Kenny had to go, Rafa was a no brainer. But hey, Rodgers, that's what you get when your club is run by owners from a country that knows virtually sweet FA about football.

redmersey

Did dalglish spend a £100+million on average players?....yes. The money could quite simply sit in the owners pockets so we make a profit but no they invested that money to improve the squad and performance of the team and did that happen no, because it was wasted on average players. The money from sponsorship deals doesn't come in one lump sum so that doesn't pay for transfers and also the owners put that sponsorship deal in place so it is there money being brought at the end of the day the club is a business and that's how it is run. As for your ridiculous comment about arsenal, those players you mentioned where not purchased for the horrific amount that these Liverpool players where bought for, yes kenny is a Liverpool legend but let's be serious he has put us in a lot of trouble with that poor spending over the transfer period, not to mention the ridiculous contracts he has offered those players

He still spent 100 million mate watever way you try to put it he still spent 100 million

Rafa was a no brainer ? guaranga, what's up with you people ? rafael benitez failed miserably in his last few seasons. the money he squandered almost took this club to the brink of extinction!!
get a grip ffs - fsg have spent millions of their own money getting this club back to a finacially stable state - yes, their own money
they back dalglish to the point of over 100million, and he basically squandered it on rubbish (bar henderson and enrique)
brendan rodgers can only work with what he's been given. senior players left in the summer because they wanted to leave, not because they weren't wanted.
you people expect a new manager to come in and straight away be in the top 4. you expect 100million to be made available for players - get a grip, it's that sort of suicide that got us in trouble in the first place

fair play to fsg, they have stabled the club and have backed the manager. fair play to brendan rodgers, he is doing a fantastic job and will get this club back to where it belongs - it is a big shame though, that we have to sit a read this poison every day from so called fans - real fans will back the club and manager through thick and thin - get behind us, or p*ss off and support someone else!!

rd

The yanks didnt give KD 100 plus million , they got 50 million from torres sale and with other money from other sales the net spend they gave KD , was either 17 million or 23 million , i herd both these figures quoted !!
FSG have not actually put in a lot of money since the bought the club ,
We need a lot more putting into this club fast or we will not get into champ league , will loose our big sponcership deals , FSG out , lets get a new rich owner {Ed002's Note - FSG has spent in the order of £150M more than the club has earned since they arrived.}

^ Kenny wasted the money he was given! Pure and simple! And set us back as a club about 3 year's if not longer!

29 Dec 2012 12:29:51
Ed2 mate are you saying FSG have spent their own money in transfer market 150M? {Ed002's Note - You cannot see the costs associated with transfers separately from the costs of running the club - it would be like considering the cost of tyres as the costs of running a car. When the owners arrived Liverpool was haemorrhaging money and the owners have put in place changes to reduce the costs. Regardless of this, in the two and a half years the club has earned about £150M less than it has spent.}

Dalglish didn't spend it on average players, he and DC somehow managed to go out of their way to find below average players.

Dont try talking sense to them Ed2
Its not worth it!

They talk about millions of pounds like it's nothing

I think the simple way for you to explain it is

By telling them How many Hoodies and tracksuits they could by from Sports Direct
for 20million!!!

When FSG purchased Liverpool, they purchased the assets as well.
Torres and co were assets, like it or not.
When they were sold the money belonged to FSG.
They reinvested it and then some, some people have to find fault with something don't they?
WelshBoyDave

Strongly strongly agree rd- most common sense spoken on here in a long time (original post)

domjon

Would that be the same Dalglish that wasted our money and bought Suarez then?.. and who also got £55 mill for a player who wanted to leave, plus also signed Bellamy on a free, and managed to keep Kuyt, Maxi etc despite their desire to leave ?

Wake up will you please keyboard warriors

Kenny was given very little option so late in the transfer window when Torres insisted he wanted to leave. He wanted Carrol, but he wasnt involved in the commercial discussions regarding price. FSG and Comolli took the view that we got both Suarez and Caroll in exchange for Torres cash.

Personally i think it was a good deal and caroll is still a good player who has just been unlucky with injuries. How i wish he was still in our squad against teams like Stoke !

Ed2 in short how much their own money have FSG put in transfer market in 2.5 years to make liverpool compete with the best {Ed002's Note - You did not read my response did you? It really does not work like that.}

For one fag should of none wat to expect in terms of transfers they have not spent a lot of there own money yes they have spent on running the club but like i said they should of none that was the case!
as for everyone saying kenny wasted the money it was commoli who did that kenny gave him targets he had nothing to do with the money side commoli should of seen sense and said look we cant get them for the right price but instead he went and paid probabky double on all of them to wat they are worth and to rafa if you cant see wat he was doing for are club u were blind he was trying to get the last owners out he gave parry targets and parry went and bought his own targets keane and aquilani thats why in the end he got parry the boot and that was the best thing to happen rick parry is one of the biggest reason we are were we are simple and if some delude fans cant see we would be better off with rafa then rodgers then u really dont no football

grego {Ed002's Note - You don't consider £150M a lot of money then.}

29 Dec 2012 13:52:56
Ed2 once again you trying to dip the question mate its simple how much their own money have they put on transfer maeket to make liverpool compete with the best in 2.5 years I'm sure you know it

{Ed002's Note - It cannot be calculated other than to say that FSG has paid £150M beyond what the club has earned in keeping the business running including transfer fees. If you know different I am sure the world will listen.}

29 Dec 2012 14:42:18
Ed2 mate It can be calculated very easily which you don't want to reveal it mate. Fact is they have spent 50M in 2.5 to make liverpool world beaters {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about or how you get those figures. You exemplify the reason that we should never allow any financial discussion on this site.}

Ed i no wat ur saying but they new the state of affairs when they bought it as transfer they have probably spent bout 30 to 40 mill of there money and the rest is running cost yes but transfer they havent spent alot of there money nowing when they bought the club they needed to spend

grego {Ed002's Note - They have spent about £150M of their own money since arriving. It is truly hopeless trying to explain even the most simple math to you.}

There was still a huge amount of money spent on players, and suarez apart, they were all cack, carroll is not good enough, injury prone immobile and doesn't score, downing is downing, henderson, 16m really? adam not good enough, the amount of money fizzed on these players is an absolute disgrace

They may have put £150m in the club since they took over, £54m settling the new stadium plans, they took on complete new staff . sacked 2 managers and then KD Commoli doctors training staff and then sacked them, How much did this cost. A lot of the money was wasted not only by poor signings by the manager but by poor appointments by FSG

Bobbinred {Ed002's Note - Regardless of where the money was spent, that it was it cost.}

Math review questions:
If it takes an ed 1.2 minutes to reply to a plug how many minutes are needed for 11 responses to said plugs?
If the same number of plugs ask the same 2 questions alternating each post how many times must an ed repeat an answer?
When the same ed has responded to each post how much time was wasted going over elementary addition?
Answer to all: an unreasonable quantity

Perhaps I am more a cynic than the eds but judging the posts above I would think it an exercise in vanity to have allowed the discussion to be carried on. You made your point

- logic

Hi eds,

After a long hard think about the current Liverpool team for me as a person who has blasted Mr Rodgers in recent day's it's time to take a long hard look at myself as a fan.We all can be far to aggressive to player's and managers when things go wrong i.e losing to Stoke...but what good does it really do? Nothing. So from me win lose or draw i need to get behind the team more than ever!! cos they really need our support!

Thanks

Marc

Nice to see mate . We all get upset when we get beat some have a real go at players and managers and some try to see positives . At the end of the day we all love Liverpool and want to see them do well we just need to realise it would be better if we all come together and support win lose or draw .
YNWA
Jamesy

Thats the spirit lads the team needs its 12th man back, we the fans need to get behind the players and staff and fight together and we will come out better the other side, ynwa, mark

It's like being at a wake going to Anfield these day's! All somber and quiet!

Mornin eds and fellow red's just read piece from in didn't see it wenger! Where he says arsenal are lookin for proven players in jan to make them stronger , now I know arsenal have more funds than us at the moment, but it just makes me so worried for the club I love, every transfer window we seem to be falling further behind the top four and the potential top four clubs ! I really do think Jan and the summer are the most important windows for our club in the last 20 years ! ! We just cannot afford to make the choice on poor players, if we buy a combined total of 6 players in the two windows 4 to 5 of them have to be a total success if we are to catch up with arsenal spurs and everton! I really do pray that br and his staff get this right and get the right backing from our owners, cause the hopes and dreams off all our wonderfull fans and the longterm standing of this club for the next ten years of this wonderfull club hinge on the next two to 3 windows , but above all we will stand together and trust who leads our club, happy New year to all our supports and to the eds great job as always guys ! Johnny d

We have spent way more than arsenal,
cant have too many excuses.

29 Dec 2012 11:18:41
Mate Arsenal have changed their policy long time ago. after Wenger admitting his policy with young players didn't work just look some of their transfer bussiness

Sebastien squillci age 32

Mikel arteta age 30

Andre santos age 29

Santi carzola age 28

Per mertesacker age 28

Lukas podoski age 27

Lauren kosceilny age 27

Olivier Giround age 26

Mate there is old saying that you never win anything with youngsters even fergie had to bring some older players to help the likes of Scholes Gigs Beckham etc to win trophys

29 Dec 2012 10:22:46
BR seems to me to be an honest and likeable enough man so calling him a con man etc is out of order as is abusing our young players on social networking sites.

This highlights probably the biggest failing at our club at the moment. Our fans (like our team) were once the best in the world but now....Anfield must be one of the quietest stadiums in europe at the moment.

I'm personally still to be convinced by the current manager but I think we can make a huge difference just by jumping up and down and singing. Back in the day we used to sing a song for every player on the pitch even before the match kicked off. Just look at how the Stoke fans terrified our players the other night, I'm certain we could more than match that.

If we don't think the current team is capable then let's do it for them, shout louder, don't stop.

WE ARE LIVERPOOL!

Jamie

The fans need something to get behind.

At the moment our football is drab and uninspiring.

What's drab and uninspiring is coming on here and having to listen to people moan.
Football is a game, it's there to make us happy. If it doesn't make you happy then don't watch.
People like you who moan about it, people like you who abuse a 20 year old because he had a bad day, people like you are really starting to bore me.
As Jamie said.....
WE ARE LIVERPOOL.
Now support us or just, for once, ssshhhhhh.

Jamie Mate fans have supported liverpool with passion and pride for many many years and tried to make anfield bounce every week despite Liverpool taking its fans for granted in return club never mached fans ambition now fans are tired of mediocrity and some fans are adjusting Liverpool being a midtable club or should I say mediocrity is taking its toll on fans.

It's a vicious circle mate isn't it. If we can't be bothered then neither will some players, rightly or wrongly it is just true.

So if we all try harder as fans and take the roof off every week we'll begin to rebuild our reputation and if the team STILL doesn't perform then we have every right to complain. At the moment though we can't complain if we're not doing our bit, 12th man and all that.

Jamie

The 12th man isn't getting paid their 100 grand a week though

So it all boils down to money again eh? Well let's all just sit quietly and sulk because footballers have more money than us, see where that gets us.

Our famous ground is world renowned for the atmosphere we CAN generate WHEN WE FEEL LIKE IT.... We have the best repertoire of songs in the world along with the greatest flags, banners and scarf waving fans.

We could put any 11 players out on that pitch and beat any team in the world with our great atmosphere, forget about money or whether or not the players/management deserve it.

WE DESERVE IT

Jamie

You don't get it Jamie.

when you're getting 100 grand a week rain or shine whether you break a sweat or not where is the motivation to achieve.

The players couldn't give a toss whether they win or not, how is 44k fans singing their name going to change that?

Ed Great site..and excellent workk..
Post this and let the fans give an expert opinion..

We have two different sets of fans...lets be united together and wait till midnight today..

Liverpool play QPR, a team who is sitting way down..

If liverpool loose or draw..do you guys still defend our team, Manager?
or start acting?

No excuse whatsoever...playing with 10 men or 11, hitting the post or not, possession or less...
if we loose today against a sure relegated side...
we will actually know what are we now currently....

Lewis Holtby will not be joining a relegation side like Liverpool.. He wants champions league that's why he is coming to us!

He and his family are big Everton fans..

Tree Blue

Have told you before muppet come back when ye grounds not made out of WOOD or should that be your HEAD.

alan waddle .remember me i scored the winning derby goal at your wooden ground

Don't be silly! You are not a champions league side. If lfc wanted that player they could pay him enough to get him.

29 Dec 2012 11:05:15
Woodison park it should be called. Third world ground.

Ahhh what a shame.

I'm really gutted another player I've never heard of won't be joining us.

Tree Blue, didn't you say the same thing earlier? So you wrote your comment, went away for a few hours, thought of a witty comment to post on the Liverpool site and it ended up being the same thing you wrote earlier. Well done, you sir are the king of banter.

Ngf1 yes I did I just copy and paste like you lot do!

One minute Downing is Messi then it's sell Downing!!

I love BR then it's sack BR!

We are going to win the league then it's we are getting relegated!

Tree Blue

Tree Blue, fair enough. I am not really into copy and pasting but I get your point. Most people on here really care about the club and others seem to enjoy tormenting themselves or others. I will support Liverpool wherever they end up. That's the way things go I guess.

reference the slur alex episodes . whisky nose found out many moons ago that the most important person on the field of play is not ye goalie not ye full backs, not ye centre halves, not ye midfield players, not ye wingers , not ye strikers the most important person who effects every incident is the REFEREE. he has been doing this unnoticed since he started football. every ref is terrified of him .there shouldnt be any approaching of the ref till the end of the game he has always had a go at referees at half time this needs to be stopped for all managers.

All managers should be judged by the players they sign and the results they get. Rodgers has got it all wrong he has not made even one good signing just wasted millions on mid table players. The results are just as bad who would want to pay all that money to watch crap players who cost inflated prices. Many fans have now turned against Rodgers and rightly so. 15 million plus a 2 million signing on fee for Joe Allen makes no sense considering we let so many forwards leave. He is the worst 15 million pound player ive ever seen. I think we play better without him. He should be sacked before he wastes more money on mid table crap.He talks a good game but in reality talk is cheap its not going to save him from the chop. In a year we are going to have to clean up this mess again after he is sacked.

Managers should NOT be judged on the players they sign.

They are not there to balance the books, they are responsible for results on the pitch. End of.

Manager's should NOT be judged by the player's they sign? Why not? A lot on here judge Rafa for some of the dross he signed the same went for Kenny and Roy! Why is Buck any different? His signing's hav'nt been top notch in the game's they've played and it do'es seem that we've overpaid again for player's who are NOT delivering what we paid million's of pound's for!

A couple of quick examples:

Say a manager buys Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta, Aguero but fails to turn them into a team and wins nothing.

Is he a success for buying great players, or a failure for not getting results?

Alternatively, say a manager buys a bunch of league 1 players for 200 million but inspires them to win the Premiership?

Is he a failure for spending 200 million on mediocre dross or a success for winning the Premiership.

Ipso facto it's all about results, not which players you sign.

29 Dec 2012 09:34:52
Rodgers had worked out what is wrong - the players didn't realise they had to play well in every game. Should see a big improvement now....

29 Dec 2012 09:30:38
Reality is that Brendan needs to rethink his tactics for certain teams. Stoke is a classic example of where the inability to match Jones in the air cost is three goals, (one he scored and two he set up). Had he played three centre backs with Coates on Jones, I am. Strain he would not have won all three headers. We might not have won, but we would have competed better and would have probably got a draw.

Until he realises we cannot win every game playing pretty football, we will not progress. We are not Barcelona and we do not have Messi. If we did, I would say go for it every game.

It's like a blind date.

Hi there was wondering if you guys could help me with something? Who was the Brazilian we were apperently in talks with taking on loan on the last day of the transfer window and is there still any intrest or possibility that could happen this window apperently he is amazing.
Thanks for you help in advance and wish you all I very happy new year
James

{Ed002's Note - It was "rumoured" to be Damiao. There was and remains no realistic chance of a move to Liverpool.}

We were rumoured to be after leandro damiao, top scorer at the olympics for brazil, but if I remember correctly it was either a hoax or we couldn't agree terms.

29 Dec 2012 08:45:31
Well, Where to start from? okay...lets analyze how many games we deserved to lose out of 19...

West Brom-- Great First Half and then played almost entire second half with 10 men

Arsenal-- Deservedly beaten

Man U--- Terrible Referee decision. Still Played them out of park.

Tottenham-- 2 goals down early on but had a superb game throughout. At least deserved a draw.

Aston Villa- Got beaten 3-1 but who dominated the match. Did we really played badly? We didnt took our chances and everything they put their foot onto got into goal..Is it BR fault?

Stoke-- Started off great and then lost our way with 2 goals from shabby defending. Stoke played to their strength as expected. Our players didnt turned up.

Now, what do we see in BR to say 'He is the Man for LFC'? well:

1) We have played some great football on and off. Bit inconsistent but playing style transition doesnt happens overnight.

2) Bred in youngsters- Sterling, Suso, Wisdom, Shelvey...Again these youngsters will require time and game experience to turn into big names.

3) BR has bought in only 3 players and one on loan out of which 2 are injured, 1 has been worn out and played mostly out of position and one is finding hard to get accustomed. Again it will take time to get right players for his playing style and couple of more transfer windows.

4) Experience has been let go in form of Bellamy, Kuyt, Maxi which can not be substituted overnight by potential youngsters but can be enhanced only by giving these youngsters game time which will again require time.

On this journey there will be moments like Stoke and Aston Villa as it has happened with every team which has been under transition. Summation of all above points says 'It Needs Time'.

But Million Dollar Question is:

1) Are we giving him time?

2) Didnt we expected these blips at the start of this campaign? So why this cry now..just because our hopes were raised because other top 4 contenders have been playing badly and now we are not able to cope with this roller coaster ride.

3) Didnt BR got more Rights than Wrongs in his 6 months tenure comparably to last couple of unstable years?

4) Are we ready to embrace more instability rather than giving time to a potential young manager who also will learn some incredible lessons along this journey?

There are more such questions lads...but important point is lets behave like LFC Fans and not Roman Abramovich!

Indian with Red Heart

Can't you see it mate?
It's all about results. Managers jobs depend on trsults on the pitch and so far this is our worst first half of the season since 3 points for a win was brought in.

That's ridiculous. It's f-ing terrible. I will not defend any manager of LFC with that record. It's like defending a pilot who crashes his first few planes or defending a surgeon who botches his first few operations.

I'm sorry, there is a huge load of BS when you talk about matches we "deserve" to lose.

I would love it if we derserve to lose every game forever but actually win all those games. History does not judge you on what trophies you deserve to win.

You can't seriously be comparing a football match to a plane crash?

Not comparing a plane crash with a football match, I'm comparing a pilot who screws up to a manager who screws up.
Both are in jobs where results count and an accumulation of errors is not acceptable.

Liverpool on the recent trips to Lyon were not looking at Gomis but the next star of french football Benzia Yassie.
Can any of the eds shed any light on this one.

Morning eds

reading through the morning rags and reading some of the posts before work and I have a few questions have we are do you expect us to look at

Manuel Neuer
Tim Wiese
Marc-Andre ter Stegen*

nothing against butland but I just don't see him like for like for Raina who himself has had a very poor few seasons to date

how do you rate Butland and do you think the reason we're struggling this season is down to the structure of the squad and lack of quality we have within

Mikey the manager {Ed002's Note - I really don't know if that random list of players will be looked at or not, sorry. My views on Butland have been shared plenty of times.}

Butland is the new Scott Carson.

Ter stegen all day long

Ter Stegen, Begovic or Muslera for me.

yes at the minute were not playing great, we dont have a plan b , and people are calling for rodgers head , he didnt have great players at swansea buh they got to grips with the type of football quite easily and look at them now this style does work in the pl.

its just that are players havent got to grips with it yet, SG wont change the way he plays he plays long balls etc.. instead of short, but the Q is to who we dont exactly have a target man.

BR has inherited some players that are no good for the club ( Carroll , Hendo , Downing , Spearing , Cole , Pacheco ) players that havent done anything for us in the time they have been here. yes we could sell the 75m pound bunch but to who ? and maybe recoup 25m loss of 50m is going to happen.

when we played stoke we was playing stokes game instead of are own. was that because we couldnt break them down , after being 2-1 down we was playing long balls whats the rush stick to the tactics regain possession get the confidence back up of the players and great chances that way we still had over a hour on the clock. if are players get to grips with the style, and win the ball back in the esitimated 7 seconds we could be a real force. look at barca for example so good at plan a they dont need a plan b we need to be the same instead of hoofing it upfield to no one.

BR has only been here 6 Months give the guy a break and get behind him, changing manager every year isnt going to help.

REDAN

Another plan b??????????

players in
Daniel sturridge £12m

Dusan Tadic £9.5m (is it just me or is he kind of similar to Albert Riera in his playing style)

Jeffren Suarez loan (the reason for this so we will loose assaidi for the ACOF plus we will see weather he is good enough for us to purchase in the summer)

We will also buy two more players in Janaury only for them to join next season.

Nicolas Isimat-Mirin £3m, loaned back to valenciennes until the end of the season.

Jack Butland £6m, loaned back to Birmingham until the end of the season.

total spending £30.5m

out
Stewart Downing £8.5m
Joe Cole - £1m with us paying him off £3m saving £2.5m in wages

£11m

net spending £20m

For me, Rodgers demise is inevitable now. All the club is doing now is at best treading water. He needs to be replaced ASAP as he doesn't have the skills to get himself out of this hole.
But I'm interested in what other people's tipping point will be. He's already eliminated from the league cup and had the worst half a league season since 3 points for a win came in.

What will be others tipping points?
Elimination from Europa? Or FA cup?
Another 12 points from next 10 games?
Our results to get worse?

How much are you prepared to tolerate with Rodgers?

Until...some fans calls its time up...........

Am equally valid question is 'how much are we prepared to tolerate from no-name posters'?

Puzzled

At least the whole season regardless of results. You don't lay the foundations for a successful future overnight.

29 Dec 2012 03:09:26
hi eds and fellow reds, i am getting sick and tired of hearing where not in the champs lge so we cant attract the top players in the game, we are liverpool football club with 1 of the biggest fan bases in the world plus where 1 of the biggest clubs still in the world also 1 of the most successful clubs in world football, we cant attract these top players cause the owners aint got deep enough pockets to go out and buy them, this is the only reason were not attracting them, if we had owners with more cash we get any player we be in champs lge then and probably back winning itno other reason we aint got the cash.td

Simple solition- I recommend you buy the club then and spend hundreds of millions on players.

Why on earth do people think the owners would want to willingly gift LFC their money (on top of what they've already given) when all they've gotten thus far is grief and death threats? Would that make you want to spend your money?

It's a vicious circle.. You have to pay top cash for quality thet get;s a team into the Champions league which in turn makes the owner money which in turn helps pay the transfere's & wages of top quality which in turn gets the team into C/L.. etc etc, , let's be honest we have maybe 4 - 5 quality players, , The rest just aren't good enough & we aren't signing & attracting top quality anymore.. Suarez was our last...

Afraid you are deluded young man. Even in our pomp we could not just buy anyone we wanted.....even if we had the cash. Several other reasons come into the equation including location (not London, Milan, Madrid) and weather ( the cold frozen North...we have polar bears don't we?) We have always struggled to attract the flashier players and good riddance. In doing so we sign players who want to play for the club for the right reasosn and not just $£$£$£$£$£s. Long may that continue.

Iggypop

Rodgers can't attract any good players he is useless in every department.

Thats total crap, players of today want it all, all they care about is coming to a top 4 club, champ lge is a must, o and its all about the money for player's now and thats a fact.90% of player's dont give a toss about the club they play in most case's, it's for the 100, 000 grad plus a week they come for and thats a fact, if they score a goal they kiss the badge cos they love the club.take joe cole 100.000 a week played 42 bit part games for us over 2 an a half year's, now want's 3.6m to leave joe loves are club right .look at man city 90% of there player's would not be there if it was not for 100.000 grad or 200, 000 a week.the players went there cos they loved the club right ha i think not its all about the mega buck's owner's they have.and fact is are owner's will not pay wages like that and i dont blame them.we are lfc and we are building a team a young team and that takes time, in lfc the owner's and the gaffa i trust.walk on jay essex red for life red till dead, as alway's walking on with hope

We are 10th in the fan base list...above all mid table teams..and below all title challenging teams....

Simple solution more like simple person who didn't put a name to your simple post. speculate to accumulate you think if they pumped as much cash in to the club they wouldn't get it back as my post says we are 1 of the worlds biggest clubs with 1 of the biggest fan bases, are clubs potential is phenomenal i think its persons like yourself who cant see this td

Iggypop we sign players who want to play for the club with the exception of a few aint good enough to play for the club, and jay essex red you get what you pay for you pay top dollar you will get top class and city haven't half the potential as liverpool for making money r half the support, and you continue to pat fsg on the back for there not wanting to pay the big money for players r wages, but fsg will walk away with the big money in there pockets and we will continue to complain and accept mediocre for are great club.gw

Maybe as Rodgers is building a squad that is very thin Hodgson and Kenny had likes of Torres Miereles Kuyt Maxi etc. Rodgers has teenagers.
Yes Kenny maybe deserved another season but just cuz Kenny never got a chance doesn't mean Rodgers shoudnt. 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Anyway if u sack Rodgers your worse off. Who would u get?
Guardiola, Mourinho or even Klopp. These guys wouldn't even think twice about joining us. No chance.
Rafa? Lol yh they guy did some good things but some awful things too. Playing matches for draw instead going attack, rotation, SELLING ALONSO, and he was the one that dropped us to 7th.

Fact is wether u like or dislike Rodgers u have to understand that backing him is the best option because sacking him would destroy us.

F5.
-----------------------------------

F5 mate backing Rodgers is like destroying our club reality is Rodgers has failed.
Just look at some of his transfer bussiness

Allen-17M
Borini-12m
Sahin-6m(loan)
Assaidi-3m
Total-38M
From above no player has been success or have improve our club which is FACT

Pontential Players he wants

Sturridge-12/15m
Ince-6-8M
Total 18-20m
Again thise players might look good on paper but are they our answers or will they take us to next level or will they achieve us champions league the answer is simply NO.

The time has come for Rodgers to go before he wastes more money and more damage to our club.

People who wants him to stay not coz of valid points but sentiments or gut feeling. Sentiments or gut feeling never works in footy. He has already spent like 40M and still hasn't improved anything instead he has taken us backwards.

Every year our great club is falling behind with enormous pace which is worrying

Owners need to make some big decisions before thise great club disappears.

Allen 15m
Borini 10.5m
Sahin 5m
Assaidi 2.3m

Total 32.8M

Just 2 Assaidi's off there mate.

BthekingB

Its to early to judge rodgers its only 6 months since he took over, he is going to make mistakes along the way i mean what manager hasn't, we all realised on september the 1st when we didn't sign any striker to replace caroll we wor going to struggle for goals, we will see at the end of the season if rodgers is the right man, mark

Alonso had a poor season prior to having his great season for us, I dont think G barry would of been a bad signing, but rafa went to far with voronin and jovanovic

Borini & Assaidi havent been fit for most the season so you can't judge them yet. I think Allen has potential and could become a very good player for us. Sahin, at the moment, I'd agree with you however we don't what's going on in training or his fitness etc? The players coming in are young to develop and need to fit in with the spending & wage bill. Who would you buy instead?.. If you're going to criticise offer some ideas for discussion other than the owners need to make some big decisions?

Please br change your system try to win games instead of trying to prove your system works defeats by stoke 3-1 , villa 3-1 , wba 3-1 etc prove it does not work use the players you have and change to suit them and man manage , and good luck as we all want you to win but it will be your fault if you end up out of a job. red mick tag

In reply to this, i feel allen has been influential in our season and has played a key part in Lucas absence, Assaidi has looked impressive in the Europa League and has merited his 3M price tag, we can't judge Borini yet from his injury and Sahin was brought in on loan to essentially fill in

Borini has been injured, hardly had a chance to prove he's a failure.

Allen held us together at the start of the season playing every game it's understandable he hit bit of a wall.
Sahin is a loan !

Assaidi was only a 3mil signing and is more useful then 35mil signing Carroll.
I spose you are one of the trolls attacking Shelvey.who like all the above players is on a young player starting out! Muzzred

And from 6 months..only an inexperienced manager can be responsible from our league position...
he had money for his disposal...and he did rubbish with it....
by the time borini comes back..we might be in relegation battle...
dont understand..y he never bought a player who is quick and dribble past some players?

Not as bad as raffa 230m spent, finished 7th 1st year in the hot seat.then king kenny took over and spent well over 100m and what's to show for that ?.KD made very bad signing's and the owner's backed him and spent big.and now rodger's the repair man has took over the hot seat.he needs time there's not 100's of millions to splash again, and just take a look at the team he took over.i hope we all give him that time, we are not chelski hire and fire every second.back the club, back the boys and lets see how the team building goes.and dont forget are liverpool team is a very very young team.as always walking on with hope.jay essex red for life red till dead.

^ Rafa did not finish 7th in his first year! We finished 5th won the CL and he took us to the league cup final 05 he bought Alonso for 10mil Garcia for 6mil and Josemi for 2mil Nunez came with the Owen deal so where you got your 230mil from i don't know! What i do know is Rafa is a way better manager than Buck!

Just thought I'd like to highlight the class of BR in comparison with Fergie.

"I am not like Newcastle, a wee club in the north east." - Fergie

"I've always respected Stoke, " said Rodgers. "There's no right or wrong way to play football. But I think that Stoke sometimes have got a lot of unfair criticism. How they play the game, they challenge you physically, which is fine because it is a physical sport and at the top level that is what happens.

"The players are very committed to the cause, Tony has them very well organised and has some outstanding players. It's always going to be a tough challenge but we'll be ready for it." - Rogers

Rodgers is just full of class, whereas Fergie is not. I have so much respect for Rodgers, and I really feel that he knows what he is doing - he seems like an intelligent man. His press conferences are lovely to hear in contrast to Kenny's, and I feel he is what we need to get over our PR issues, attract new fans and get Liverpool as peoples second team again!

B101

He can't be cockcy right now in his career. He has achieved absolutely nothing compared to Alex. He can't even say what's in his mind so that he is not under additional media scrutiny.

I hate fergie too But what do you want to win titles or have just class and no titles
I will support BR as long as he is our manager but we all want titles
Red 316

And Fergie gets 3 points and Brendan Rodgers nil points... I know what I would rather have.. Someone that can walk the walk not just talk it. You are blinded by his garbage talk....

Slowpoke

The same BR said a week ago..we should look to Top 2???

Nice guys finish last.

Do you think Shankly, Clough, Mourinho were/are nice guys?

No, they were patronising and condescending to their opponents, much like Fergie.

But their players were made to feel like world beaters and their opponents were made to feel like mugs.

At the end of the day, I'd rather have Mourinho, Fergie, Clough, Shankly's record than nice guy Bren.

B101 only way where going to attract new fans is if there parents are supporters, all the kids growing up now are going to support teams that are on top with world class players, and with fsg and there yes man br, we wont be getting any top class players to get us winning lge r champs lge, and thats the truth of it.rm

29 Dec 2012 13:52:50
Actually Mourinho, Shankly and Clough were or are very nice guys off the pitch.

Fergie is a very nice guy off the pitch, until you're his opponent

Grego in regards to players leaving

Kuyt wanted a new challenge

Bellamy wanted to move back to cardiff for family and wanted 1 more chance to help get cardiff promoted

Maxi wanted to go home

Carroll is a 35 million quid striker who cant score, nice lad but he cant acore playing for west ham suited to his style infact word going round west ham dont want to buy him as hes failed to impress

U cant expect ANY manager to come in with little to no money apart from resales to make us a top 4 side...the players in our team are over rated and it will take a few windows to change that unfortunately

Rafa took time and over 200 million spending to get us competting an unfortunately 100 mill of our building money was spent on carol adam hendo downin etc

So its gonna take time. Still have half a season pf football to play how about we get behind the team and see where we are at end of season?

Win a few on the bounce and things can change quickly

At the end of the day its up to u if u want to support BR and the players u dnt have to

But i will, as i know we have a young inexperienced team and a lot of old egos which need to be moved on

He didnt have to let those players go he could of siad give me till jan or next summure so he didnt loose all that experince simple that and a lot of rafas signings were down to rick parry not buying quick enough so had to go for third choices rafa wanted ronaldo bale but parry was to slow even had deals set up for villa and silva but the owners pulled the plug on them and then arry went and bought keane thats why rafa treated him so bad to make a piont and heres one for u he wnted falcao and coud of git him for three million and again parry said he was no good look at him now thats the reason he got parry the boot cause he held this club back. and if u cant see this club is to bid for rodgers ur blind

29 Dec 2012 02:00:31
Is Joe Allen better than Spearing? YES

Is Daniel Sturridge better than Downing? YES

Is Tom Ince better than Adam? YES

Is Holtby/Eriksen or whoever ee are looking for in the summer better than Henderson? YES

Is Butland better than Reina? PROBABLY as someone posted earlier reina has been 3rd from worst GK in the PL so far and has been pants for 2 seasons!

All that done on a tight budget and promoting youth and being shafted by owners not given him enough money for his targets coz KD used up all the money of trash

How can u not give BR a fair chance?

Hes a young manager who will grow into his role

Ok.. is Joe Allan better than Juan Matta? no
Is Sturridge better than Aguero? No
Is Ince better than RVP? No
Are Holtby/ Erickson better than Henderson, , Yes.. have we signed the? No..
So has BR really done anything drastic to improve a poor squad? This team isnt C/L material, , face reality..

Is Daniel Sturridge better than Downing? YES
is Downing a striker? LOL
Is Tom Ince better than Adam? YES
is Adam a winger? LOL
Is Holtby/Eriksen or whoever ee are looking for in the summer better than Henderson? YES
MOST of english player CRAP! FACT!
good comparison!
this is you call yourself 'Liverpool fans'? or English football fans?

Borini ? another Ngog.

Not a fair comparison , how much did jay cost , lets wait and see on sturridge, and we only paid 6 million for Adam and Tom ince went out .not forgetting that Adam was excellent at Blackpool himself it all about finding your level as a player , so wait til turn up if they do then compare .

If current liverpool better than chelsea??????????????

Are apples better than elephants?

29 Dec 2012 02:11:51
After watching the Stoke gme, one day in the not too distant future Suarez is going to wake up & say "what the f*** am I busting my balls for when they aren't bringing in quality players, to strengthen the team, when I can go to a contender, play C/L anywhere in Europe"
He needs top quality around him now while he is still only 24, in his prime not as he's driving off to play elswhere.. Not some of the 2nd rate they have now, Lets be honest & face it we are a mid to 8th place team at best with this squad, , ,

It;s groundhog day from 2 years ago with Suarez replacing Torres and Bren replacing Hodgson.

Same awful results.

I only hope we can find another Kenny to rescue us again.

29 Dec 2012 02:09:48
Sturidge is a 80 on fifa 13 and only 23 and has potential to be as good as cavani, so chill everyone dont be so pessimistic just cos downing and hendo dodnt work
Ali g indahouse

Actually hes a 78 and only has 3 star skill moves, so I don't know why were going for him.*sarcasm*
NotInTheKnow

Malouda is 81 on Fifa 13: that surely warrants a bid for him then?
York Red {Ed002's Note - And he is available.}

To warp

Apologies for backing my team and manager for atleast Half a season

Maybe soon you'll realise that liverpool fc have been mediocre for past 4 years and the job is even harder without all the players and money KD and roy had

Its only been half a season and alot of football to play anything over finishing 8th will be an improvement

If u dnt want to support BR thus supporting Liverpool then i cant help u

Maybe rafa will come and wave his magic wond and save the day

I doubt it as he had over 200 million to spend 1st time round and will most likely fall flat on his bottom with us just like every other manager since his last season when he finished 7th

Lets see where we are end of season eh? Then we'll talk

I love KD, but hes an old man now and its time we moved on

Lfc fans live in the past to much, time to wake up u lot want rafa, torres and co back how about gettin behind our team?

It will take time but it will be worth it

You can lead a horse to the lake but you cant make it drink the water

Cheers

Shak Attack

Agreed! and everyone seems to be pointing to the signings BR has made so lets take a look at them
Allen pretty much replaced Adam and although the price was steep 15 mil he was crucial in our first few games he was absolutely class and everyone in the press and on this site was saying he was our best signing so far. Borini young italian striker he scores goals knows the system and gets into promising positions to strike maybe the price was also a bit steep but that can be expected when he had just moved clubs its gonna take some time for him to settle but i believe he will become good and has huge potential as well. Assaidi pacy winger full of bags of tricks his issue so far is inability to stay fit to get any shot at first team action also hes not very physically strong but other then that hes an excellent player. We got him for 2mil absolute gem I think he will go to the african cup of nations get some well needed playing time and come back ready for first team football possibly. Sahin was also another signing although on loan and everyone here was excited to see him come to liverpool so far hes failed to impress and he also broke his nose i'm not sure about him but he was the exciting signing many people wanted. So BR has had significantly less funds and a thinner squad yet he still bought some good players with lots of potential all is not doom and gloom.

29 Dec 2012 09:51:35
Dont apologise for having your opinion shak you are entitled to it, but so are the people whos views on the club differ to yours, so my point is dont put them down with derogatory comments like not true reds or support city chelsea or its kennys fault etc etc. Disagree by all means but there posts are just as relevant as yours. Your optimistic others are very very worried, lets hope your right to be optimistic because we all want a sucessful club at the end of the day.

Waro

Shak Attack - I think you mean -you can lead a horse to water but a pencil's always lead

Puzzled

Or look at it another way:
Allen : Lots of passes, no penetration
Borini: Released by Chelsea, didn't score many for Swansea, used his pace well in the pedestrian Serie A.
Assaidi: Who? Has he played in the league yet? Forgettable.
Sahin: Jose pulled a fast one there, can't get in the team ahead of Shelvey.

And then there's Shak:
Well, in case you'd forgotten, Hodgson had less money than Bren. He also iherited a team which was tearing itself apart i.e. Mascherano refusing to report for training and engineering himself a move to Barcelona, Torres sulking for a move to Chavski.
Don't forget that Hodgson was manager during the most unstable and destructive period in our history due to Hicks/Gillett vs Broughton/Purslow/Ayres.
Yet still he had as good/bad a record as Bren and still got sacked after 20 games.

It's grossly unfair to call for Hodgson's sacking yet ask for more time for Bren. Unfair and hypocritical {Ed002's Note - Chelsea wanted to keep Borini - it was his decision not to agree a new contract.}

No we just realised, unlike you, that stability and team building will take us higher up the table, rather than the constant sacking of managers

29 Dec 2012 01:31:10
I am so damn tired of certain fans contiously making excuses for BR, ( give him time, blah, blah, blah!.
He was hired to do a job, attain a level of performance, and has fallen way short of these.
If he 'mis-represented himself, or made promises' to the owners (which he can't deliver on), then he should be man enough and admit it.
Fact is FSG hired him, based on his promises of delivering a level of performance.

We may not be able to attract the best in the world, but let's rather get the ones who are at least honest.

Its time to go BR, your lies are transparent, and your glaring inefficiencies are there for all to see (well at least those, who choose to see it).

Tumbleweed Red.

Why not give him more than half a season? Are we really that impatient?

Seem to forget these ayers have finished mid table for last 3 seasons

'He was hired to do a job, attain a level of performance, and has fallen way short of these.'

Yep, 5 months, one window and not a single trophy. He's fallen way short.
Oh, and I'm loving the 'transparent lies'. Could someone translate for me please.....

BigBadBen

God, reading posts like these i feel almost embarrassed to be in the same group of supporters like these...

Half of your post is utter rubbish. Actually, pretty much all of your post is. How do you know what levels of performance he was hired to obtain in his first season? You don't.
I was under the impression that he was hired for the long term and to BUILD a team that will take us to the top. He has had 6 months and 1 striker for most of his time here - in no way is that a fair amount of time to judge a man that wasn't hired for the short term.

You can judge after his second season if things don't improve, but I am willing to wager a lot of money that they will improve.

B101

I dont agree and that does not mean 'i choose not to see it' just think what we do not need is fans constantly calling for heads.

Who should take Ridgers place by the way?

I am sure you can think of many great managers. now ask yourself of these who are free and who would want to take the job on?

I promise you that while this club is great and has an amazing history the club has had problems for years and your list is getting smaller and smaller!

Also what did you hoesntly expect this season? Look over the last few years and see how well we did.

You may also argue that we need to buy better players but again who? Who wants to play for us at moment? Who can we afford?

I am not saying you do not have valid point but for me give the man more time...yes time!
gareth

Yea - like Roberto Martinez! Jeez! Singred

Werner : Top 4 is vital (August 2012)

that is what Bren should be judged by.

29 Dec 2012 01:05:54
this rodgers thing is getting out of hand so im going to say my piece anyway. firstly the game against stoke we were outplayed for alot of the game. 2ndly we did defend badly from set pieces all the time not only in that game. 3rdly we are a bit light upfront. 4th we pass some teams to death and only have one brain in midfield (still gerrard) that can vary the passing. one thing i will say is joe allen does get alot of stick but how many times did gerrard raise his hands in possession because of lack of movement ahead, allen shows for the ball more and passes more than any player which is why he is bound to lose it a few times.
i think br wud be the first to admit the players attidude collectively wasnt great and maybe they need to do better work on def set pieces as from offensive ones we dont get the rewards for the amount o CKs we have in a game. on the striking front i allways say when you have nothing for a few weeks blood a player and maybe morgan should have least been ther to make substitute apps. but stoke was 2nd game this season i thought we didnt play well at all , however Brendan Rodgers will make mistakes and fans opinions are what he is going to be judged on. weve been unlucky in a few fixtures not to get all three points so to call for a managers head is deff premature. i beleive Brendan is getting it right by playing the right sort of football and i still think we will be in the top 4-6 places. All im saying all the teams above us have had more bad performances but those are seasoned teams, while i do think every fan are entitled to be critical of players and manager but we have to look at the product we have and how they are marketing it. on the whole im happy with our football , results leaving us down a bit but give this young team and manager time to bed in.

YNWA
livlim

Top 4-6 places?

You're quite mad

29 Dec 2012 00:31:12
Hi eds, I know there is a considerable amount of abuse on here towards fsg from liverpool fans but what is your honest opinion on them?
1) do they have money to spend and are they willing to spend it?
2) how serious are they regarding the future of our great club?
Would really appreciate some honest feedback, especially from ed001 if at all possible.
Jack the red {Ed001's Note - they do have money to spend and will invest it, but they want to invest well, rather than just throw money at the club. They are very serious about a long term successful club, they didn't buy us purely to make money. They want success to show off about more than anything.}

I agree with ed001, KD got got a buttload off money to spend, but spend most of it on players who should never even have been considered for our fantastic football club. Downing had one good season at Villa, Henderson played some good games for sunderland (i rate him and think he's gonna come good, but 16-20 mill is simply way to much!)Enrique i don't know what to think, one game he's just amazing then the next he looks like a league one player. DOn't get me started on AC, but Luis was one of our best buys ever! ill give him that. But really do think the owners will back the manager again, but wanna be sure they give the money to the right man ( 100 £ didn't help us much under KD). BUt i will keep supporting rodgers because i really son't think sacking another gaffa is the answer!

YNWA and have a Happy new year!

29 Dec 2012 00:50:03
There are over a hundred million of us Liverpool supporters in the world.

So with that in mind, Joe Cole wants £3.6m to leave our club.

So I ask you all, as loyal supporters like me, to send in a pound and make this happen, we can rid ourselves of this over weight unfit ex Chav who has bled our club of nearly £100'000 a week.

Surely we can raise enough to rid ourselves of this waste of a salary?

So please give generously to the Please Joe, just go campaign.

Yeah, lucky the 'Let's Lose Lucas' and the 'Eject Enrique' didnt work out.
Support the red shirt ffs

Lol

cant blame him for looking after himself...but i agree it did make me feel angry too

gareth

Would be awesome. I can se the headlines : Joe Cole released from contract, the fans had enough and paid what the club owed, and a ticket back to London!

Your maths is shocking

I have a better idea why don't we all put a tenner in and by the club then we can do what we like .

29 Dec 2012 00:37:43
What has happened to the Tom ince deal. Has he rejected a chance to return to liverpool? Or are we interested in someone else?

29 Dec 2012 00:19:49
What ever happened to the signing of Marco Bueno?

29 Dec 2012 00:10:15
interesting how the manipulative gobrubbish ferguson down the road hasnt been sanctioned by the fa, despite his intimidating of refs and linesmen over the last two weeks (and entire career)

just who at the FA is in his pocket?

totally corrupt the way the fa continually allow him and his team to intimidate the refs over the years...and redknapp and mancini get done for some harmless joking post match?

Well maybe i'm being cynical but nearly every top league in Europe has had scandals unearthed over the years, i think it is pretty naive to think the premiership is any different. Especially given that it is the most followed and richest league of them all.
derryred

David Gill is vice-chairman of the FA AND chief executive of Man Utd but Im sure there is no conflict of interest there at all. Not even a little bit. Not even slightly.

cozinoz

I'm sure Suarez would agree with you cozinoz

29 Dec 2012 00:09:41
Ed just wanted to ask why liverpool are not looking in the spanish market there seems to be a lot of quality players available for very small fees because of the fanancial situation in spain

How do you know we are not looking at the spanish market? Why ask pointless sh*t!

Red Lee

29 Dec 2012 00:01:17
Fellow reds
All i wanted for xmas was for BR to 'grow a pair'.
His refusal to sub players who might be havin a stinker is astounding! Stevie G, for example, has had several 'stinkers' yet is allowed to potter round the field for 90 mins. Is BR blindfolded or does he simply not have the balls to sub the LFC legend? Kenny an Gerrard are legends to me, but for the sake of the team (and possibly give SG a bit of a boot up the ass) please please please BR, grow a pair, and start showing that you are here to mean business!

Sivy1001

Its not that he doesn't have the balls, its that he does not have the players!
Have you not got a clue?

Red Lee

Hold on a second there. Gerrard has leadership qualities on a pitch. For younger players he is an outlet, it gives you lots of confidence having someone who you can relay on in the field. Why not ask any midfielder in the league if they'd rather play against a Liverpool team with or without Gerrard.
derryred

Exactly Red Lee, not only that he pisses of Gerrard he's in risk of losing the dressing room and a large percentage of fans

Let BR do his job mate

I understand that Red Lee, my point was, we could have several of the worlds greatest players on the bench but SG would stay on that pitch no matter what! but your right..catch '22' at the mo i guess!

29 Dec 2012 02:23:16
I couldnt care less if The Good Lord himself was wearing a red shirt...if he wasnt givin his all, or had a 'cant be bothered look' about him, then i would replace him with a fan from the crowd if i could!!

A long time ago a friend of mine told me when i give him the news that Rafa was sacked and i was happy:''You not be happy because you will regret it.He is a great manager and a winner'' I dont believe him then. Now i do.And he is not a Liverpool fan.Why i regret Rafa?Because is a great manager, a great strategic mind, he loves the club and the city, and he knows how to win games abd cups and silverware. And also how to buy players and who to buy.Almost baged for the job in the summer and we , the fans , turn the back for him.All the fans who hate Rafa remember the nights when on Anfield came teams like Chelsea, Barca, Real, Juventus, Inter and they go with the tails beetwen their legs. Now i can bet you the haters want to feel the same again.Remember our team back then:Reyna, Arbeloa, Carragher, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Aurelio, Kuyt, Alonso, Gerrard, Babel, Mascherano, Torres.
And now we have :Enrique, Downing, Henderson, Allen, Carrol, Cole, Borini and by the way this 7 players cost more money then the entire team bought by Benitez.
Also The young players Suso, Sterling, Shelvey also bought by Benitez.
I dont ask for Benitez but i want for my club a great coach, A WINNER
Mircea

I loved rafa but im afraid he is in the past move on

And how do u know brendan will not bring those days back?
He has not exactly had the chance to make the team his own, has he?
Stop living in the past and give the guy a break!

Red Lee

Agreed. if chelsea already have someone lined up for the end of the season we should snap rafa up

2 cl finals in 3 years and a semi.

we took him for granted

Wow so we sack a manager without a good reason for it, have done it again and again and again, you have recognised that you regret how quickly we let him go, and now you want us to do the same with rodgers.

Didnt rafa win zero in his first season and finished 7th in his last?

Let go f the past if Rafa comes back and fails then what?

BR has a long term plan a young managwr who will grow with the young players hes bringing in

If ur a rafa fan go support chelsea

Remember our balance sheet back then?

i agree with some of the things you say aart from signings. keane ? sebastian leto etc. but in the past now. top man wish him all the best.

Rafa was not the greatest at all. We had a then good team and could attract better players.
Its harder for Rodgers but wait a little

gareth

Rafa didn't win zero in his first season, he won the biggest prize in European football.

Rafa won The Champions League and we were finalists in the League Cup in his first season!

Liverpool need to sign an out and out goal scorer in january. Someone of the class of michael owen in his prime. Otherwise things wont improve in progressing the team. Thoughts?

Well Owen in his prime won the ballon d'or, sooooo when are we getting Messi then?

"...we're hoping we'll be able to do something in January pretty early on. We need that wee bit more experience, especially at the top end of the field."

Maybe BR is hinting at some other striker with Sturridge?

Hopefully he's hinting at a new manager.

hi eds and fans,
I am getting disheartened with all these losses we keep getting and our underperformance it is sad we find ourselves in this dire and crazy position. We have to worry about not so big teams all of a sudden, we need to get our act together, and start performing. ED001, 002, 0052 what do you think? and the other fans
the team has lots of quality I don't understand where the problem is
hisbylfc

I went to the Newcastle game with my dad, we played really well yet game out with a 1-1 draw. At the end I turned to my dad and said "can you work out what the problem of why we didn't win is?". He was completely baffled.

Plain and simple rogers is the problem and should never been given the job and also to an extent fsg they employed him who the hell was helping them but we need a good experineced manager rafa would of been perfect but ha move on who else is there?

mike

Reina skrtel agger Lucas gerrard are over rated? The amount of silly goals these lot have let in over the seasons isnt a councidence

Reina needs to be replaced with a gk who isnt moping around complaining about CL when maybe if he didnt let in sloppy goals we'd be there already

Skrtel is so sloppy sometimes its a joke hea top class on his day but not consistent enough

Agger id keep

Lucas id keep

Gerrard needs to e replaced 10 good games out of 38 isnt enough

We need more goal scorers and quality in depth

Its a big job but BR will get there And once he does he'll be there consistently

It would have been interesting to see how we wouldve done last season if Kenny hadnt bought Downing and adam etc i.e. if he used the same teamas when he took over and did so well with
