Quite happy with that. First two games BR just seemed to be trying to cram as many attacking midfielders onto the pitch as he could, and I thought he'd go back to that, but we've kept the more balanced XI we had against Arsenal.

Good result and some cohesion and control of possession in midfield and I'll be very happy come 5 o clock.

Another clean sheet and score a couple would be nice,

1 - 0 down already - think we need two strikers on and we will defo need more than one winger this season.

I'be been trying to stay positive but this performance today is testing me!!

Complete change at HT for me, take Gomez and Milner off, get Sakho and Ings on. Go to 3 at the back with two strikers - may as well go for it now we're 2 down!!

Let's see if BR has the nads for such an early change of plan!

Did watch the game but based on all I have read so far in the media and other sites, we were aweful today and both CB's were just dire and at fault for all the goals. In attack, we were toothless and did nothing tho spark the contest even tho Couts getting sent off dispute not help. Time to regroup, prepare and make the right changes because Utd is next and that is a game we must NOT lose.

Hi Eds and Reds. I've done a search and couldn't see it discussed. Say I'm looking into something that isn't there if you want.

Do you think that Ings will feature more after the tribunal fee has been decided? and that we aren't playing him until then unless needed. If he came on for 30 minutes and banged two goals in, surely it would influence the fee.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't believe that his fee is affected by that.}

Hey ed01, a few questions for you!
1. Ryan McLaughin has secured a loan deal to Aberdeen, which is pretty good. Does this show that the club still have hopes for him, and give him a last chance to prove his potential, or is it more of a "I wash my hands" move, with a thought of making it a permanent one?
2. How exactly is the club monitoring young Danny Ward up there in Scotland? He seems to be doing pretty good according to fan reports, do you have any idea if the club value a loan at Aberdeen as enough of a measure of his abilities?
3. The reserve RB/LB situation. The club continues to confuse me. First they let Andre go on loan, and now young Joe Maguire and Ryan. In the club, we have Clyne and Moreno as pure wing backs, and Joe Gomez who has proven he can deputize. However, one player is NOT enough of a cover. You mentioned some time ago you are not sure what the club is planning - do you have any clarity now? Is BR planning to convert Tiago Ilori as he did with Joe Gomez? Is counting on Emre "he is so versatile I will not play him in his natural position" Can? Or is there a youth prospect I am not aware of? Perhaps that 16 year old kid that played against Swindon?
4. Again, in regards with the full back situation - was there actual interest in Digne, or did Joe Gomez' excellent form put an end to said interest?

Thanks, hope I am not a bother! Looking forward to a 3-1 victory today!

{Ed001's Note - 1. McLaughlin has been sent there to give him a chance, not to get rid, Ward's loan has meant a good relationship has been established with Aberdeen. It is up to Ryan now to make it count.
2. We have him watched on a regular basis. We also get video footage of their games for the coaches to study and see how he gets on. The goalkeeping coaching staff liase with both Danny and the Aberdeen coaches over his training. It is seen as a good chance for him to get regular football at a fairly decent level.
3. It is felt that, in the worst possible case, we can revert to a back 3 if need be. We also have Enrique still and the likes of Milner and Henderson can also provide cover in difficult circumstances. I do expect Ilori to be used as the back up right back in need, but not as a long term solution.
4. It was more the inability to shift Enrique that ended interest in bringing in a left back.}

Stoked for a big win today. I suspect we will have same starting 11 as Arsenal, unless Hendo is fully fit of course, and if so, I really hope Lucas or Can is still in the centre of the park. Firmino should get a good run out, and when he is subbed in second half, I hope it is Ings who comes on, not Ibe. Not to say Ibe shouldn't be given another chance, but he hasn't really taken his chances in first three games, and you just know that Ings is eager to show what he can offer. I think he could work well with Big Ben with his movement.

win today would give us 10 points from 12 to start the campaign. I haven't searched the stat banks, but I suspect that would be one of our best starts in premier league era.

It would be a great start, much better than most would have expected. i'm hoping we win 4-0 and are also denied a goal from a bad off side decision. Just to keep some posters happy. ;-)

Barring in injurys I don't see how he could change it.

Having said that, the approach to West Ham at home should be different to arsenal away!

Would be happy if that's the case, only thing I would like to see is Ings getting a decent run of 30 minutes+ so we can see options other than big Ben solo.

I think Lucas in there just helps can and Milner play more freely, if we can put pressure on arsenal like we did we should be able to put West Ham under the same pressure

Ed's can we be 100% sure that Ron Keage (spelling) is NOT Brendan Rodgers?

Brendan doesn't have the time to come on here, too many dentist appointments, tanning sessions and chasing secretaries.

Once you have a good 'base tan' it's really quite easy to maintain, you just have to keep it topped up.
Dental performance is all about maintenance when you have had the work done. I avoid coffee/tea, fruit juice (acidic) and sugary carbonated drinks. Obviously I go for a low sugar diet and chew gum and floss.
Due to my running regime, I'm getting much faster on my feet⏰

The season so far after 3 games.

we are on 7 points but could easily have been on 3 (thanks linesmen).

2 poor performances followed by a much better performance against a team that is expected to be top 4 (top 2 if you listened to the media prior to the season starting).

The next game should tell us if the first two poor games were the team bedding in; if the next one os poor then Brendan probably hasn't learnt that pressing teams will win the matches with the current squad.

I'm not saying it is correct but if Brendan says that this year the team has hunger as opposed to last season then he needs to look at himself.

If the majority of players stay fit we could have a v good year. that is dependent on how we set-up against teams and the way we play.

And the ones that have been Brendoned agree to stay!

We need to beat W Ham this weekend!

Good points Hoola, but the impression I get after last season is that it's more than just 'bedding in', but that of teams expected to finish in the top six not necessarily being fit enough to start the season.

These global exhibition games aren't worth a carrot in terms of gaining experience and physical fitness.

I expect it to take our squad longer to gel and that is why I'm even more happier with the start the team has had.

We have had good luck which helped offset the mediocre performances. However, in my recollection, all winning teams get a few calls. I think we showed an ability to press and create chances against Arsenal, and let's be honest, with Hendo out, who thought we would survive in midfield against Arsenal? West Ham game will show if we can build on that performance. A win, and the media will hype us up as title contenders, while a loss and they will play up the lucky calls. Can't wait to see how it plays out!

I'm brand new to this site but have read a lot on here lately, some brilliant views in my opinion. Just wondering if the winners of the Europa league still get a spot in next year's champions league.surely if we qualify for the latter stages we will go for it regardless of our league position.I do want our fringe players to succeed in some way but could we rely on them against bilbao,Monaco, fiorentina etc?
