My prediction for the league

1st city
2nd United
3rd arsenal
4th spurs
5th Liverpool
6th Leicester
7th Chelsea
8th Everton

Sorry ed02 but I see Chelsea doing what United and Liverpool have done previously and finish with no European football, then jose sacked, ancelotti back and a whole lot of refurbishment

Just a prediction.

Looks about right to me, the only doubt about Spurs is the depth of their squad, if they lose Kane or one of their 2 centre backs for any length of time they are in trouble I reckon. We messed up not buying Aldeirwereld.

Man u are a poor side, City and Arsenal top two the rest of positions to fight for.

I think Ge Gea is really keeping UTD afloat atm, they have had a fairly easy run of games i think really. i'd have loved vardy and the other leicester boys to beat them today.

I've lost count on the times De Gea has made a few wonder saves. If he does leave in the summer, it will be interesting to see what happens to UTD after he leaves!

I know I shouldn't but I've got a feeling that united will win the league, every man has been slagging them off but they are still up there.
At the minute I believe anybody has a chance to win it even Leicester and Liverpool.
1. United
2. City
3.Arsenal
4. Liverpool
5. Spurs
6. Leicester
7.everton
8. Chelsea.

Frisky, Man City will win the title hands down. Utd and Arsenal will fall away when the going gets tough. And City always step up their game in the second half of the season.

Lads I really hate saying this but Chelsea will make top 4, most of us believe we stand a half decent chance at making top 4 and with Chelsea only 6 points behind us having so far had a torrid time of it. We are slowly starting to click and the pieces are coming together quite well when you consider our injured players, But, and it's a big But, as much as it pains me to say it Chelski's players are quite good in all positions with a fair smattering of proper quality only city and the gooners can match. Now it looks like they are starting to come together and look a proper team again I'm not willing to write them off, can see them really tearing it up from Xmas onwards like we did 13/14. Would not be surprised to see a decent amount spent by them either next month. Will make for a cracker of a season as there's now a good number of clubs that are all pushing for top 4. I'm hoping we give the swans a hammering, and it's not going to hurt us too much if Chelsea put Spurs to the sword either, think we will have a fair idea of where Chelsea are at after the game today.

This is OUR opportunity to get ourselves in position for a run at the fourth spot and even the PL, altogether. A win is a must for our confidence. On a side note, I was running all over the living room when Bournmouth equalized. It was exilirating and the bitters going home with eggs on their faces? Priceless!

A win today becomes even more important. Not only it would lead to a more respectable position in the table (6/7 th) it would also take us closer to the leading pack.

Agree4 Disagree0

29 Nov 2015 12:46:23
Hate to put a dampener on it but it seems as though every time we have had an opportunity to do that over the past few years we colossally cock up. Ut that was under rodgers and this is now, under klopp.

True test of character today to see if anything has changed at all within the team. Great opportunity to close the gap, with everton, southampton, united, and one of either spurs or chelsea dropping points.

We have to win games like this otherwise you can kiss this season goodbye. Hope the players don't get complacent against a swansea team who need to turn a corner for a manager who is unfairly under pressure. It won't be easy.

Just a thought that when it was going wrong or players fell out with the previous manager it was deemed that they had been Brendaned. If the same things happens with with the new manager will they have been Klopped?

It should be Juergened actually.

Every player has been given an opp to prove himself so far and I think that will continue under Klopp. If they can't hack it, they have themselves to blame. So if Allen is shown the door, he would have Allened himself.

Agree5 Disagree0

28 Nov 2015 17:17:33
You got Brendaned, when you were clearly a superior player and had proven it, but still didn't get a game, and were trated like the scum that builds up at the edge of your mouth when dehydrated.
Examples of this are.
Martin Kelly promised a chance of game time after a year layoff and re signing a new contract with LFC only to be dropped in pre season and Sold.
Wisdom, promised a chance in pre season, and game time, only to be loaned for 2 years, and have a loanee replace him.
Carragher clearly superior in his final 2 years to Skrtel yet, demoted to the bench, and Europa league fixtures, BR manages to swallow a bit of pride and plays him for the final 6 months of his career to stop us leaking goals.
Ilori, promised a clean slate and chance to prove himself in pre season, only to be loaned out.
Sakho, clearly a superior player to Lovren in everyway, brought in to be the left of centre back, 1 year later BR brings in Lovren and attempts to freeze Sakho out the team.
Add to this all the Raheem, Sinclair, Suarez stuff, regarding contracts, promises, training on their own.

you got brendanned when you were on the wrong end of his vastly inferior man management skills.

29 Nov 2015 10:07:29
JK has not bought one player as of yet and using the players at his disposal has brought them together; as of yet no one seems to have been treated unfairly or not been given an opportunity if they are giving their all in training.

It amazed me that BR would buy players then not play them as he didn't fit our style / he wan't sure on them.

Anyway back to the point; I do not think anyone will be "Jurgened" or "Klopped" as it will be left to the players to decide if they are around the first team by their performances - that's not to say JK will not sell players or bring better ones in for a position - however that's football right?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Nov 2015 20:42:03
Klopp is going to make some tough decisions, as managers always must, and some players will find themselves outside looking in. And Klopp will also make some mistakes along the way, as managers also always do, but

But highly doubt there will be any Klopp equivalent to being "Brendaned".

That's not just because I trust Klopp's judgment, but also because BR was quite special in this. he seemed to let ego and personnel politics get in the way of the proper management. This often led to idiotic decision making on countless players.

Bobatron has provided an ample listing of examples (Bob and I disagree on whether Firmino should be included among such examples, but that's fine) . Overall, I entirely agree with his assessment here. I would also addd BR favouring Allen over Lucas in many games over the last year.

The most egregious example, I think, is the Sakho/Lovren affair. Watching Rodgers favor Lovren over the clearly superior Sakho, game after game, was incredibly painful. Truly imbecilic from BR.

Hi eds
Could anyone enlighten us as to why Illori is not featuring for villa? Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Nov 2015 14:33:08
If he´s not featuring in their lineup then he´s probably not better than the first team center backs.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - They deem him not good enough and not fit enough - he remains the messiah to many Liverpool fans.}

28 Nov 2015 16:31:27
Illori was in imperious form during the euro u21 competition. Not sure why he was not given a chance. But generally british managers do look at size before skill and illori do look a little lightweight. I will compare him as a Portuguese Cannavaro.

Agree4 Disagree2

28 Nov 2015 16:56:28
Ed001 likes him as footballing centre back.

Agree6 Disagree0

28 Nov 2015 17:13:49
So does Klopp who wanted him at BVB so is he stupid as well? No one called him a messiah, IMO. All many of us want is for him to be given a chance and nothing more. He was great for the Portuguese team as well or is that coach stupid too? Don't really care if he isn't playing at Villa because they're as good as down and no new manager is going to gamble his job on a player he doesn't know. It was a pointless loan that has done nothing for him hence, Klopp will bring him back next season and then, we will see if he's good enuff, IMO.

Agree9 Disagree3

28 Nov 2015 17:16:37
All ed001 wanted is for him to be given a chance and then suddenly so did almost every user here. Funny that. Must admit I've seen one game of his for granada and he played vs Messi pretty well. I cannot imagine that Klopp will let him go without giving him half a chance unless his wages are too high.

Agree5 Disagree2

28 Nov 2015 17:32:33
To be fair ed is right. The boy hasn't played a competitive game for us nor has he lite up at any of the clubs he has been on loan at, yet the us fans go on and on about him like he is a top 5 in the world cb.

Imperious form in the u21 tournament? Come on.

Agree5 Disagree3

28 Nov 2015 17:33:08
No Ed nobody here is calling him the Messiah. All we are asking/wondering is why he wasn't give a real proper chance with the 1st team. Now if it doesn't work out after been given a chance than fair enough but all most of the fans ask is that he gets a fair crack.

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Nov 2015 18:02:04
To be fair to him, we bought him 2-3 years ago and he is to yet start in a competitive game.

If I was him I'd quite like to play.!

28 Nov 2015 18:33:08
For the record an number of fans were calling for him to be give a chance long before ed01 mentioned it lately.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Nov 2015 19:32:09
Lots of reasons why he might not be playing at Villa that could have nothing to do with ability, the loan with option to buy deal might have some terms Villa worry about meeting as well.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Nov 2015 21:18:27
This is a player we've scouted, sought out and paid 7 million for. The least we could have done is give him a run out. Rodgers just decided he didn't fancy him which was much the same with sakho until he had no choice but to play him and proved totally wrong.

Agree5 Disagree1

28 Nov 2015 21:34:37
BR has ruined that boy's career to the point of nausea. He made promises to him to give him a chance and then ships him out on loan to a team as poor as they come like Villa with manager who's just as incompetent as him. The loan was a waste of time and again, my hope is that Klopp gives him a chance next year. At least, the fact that he wanted him at BVB shows he sees something in him.

Agree2 Disagree3

28 Nov 2015 16:23:41
Ed, I've also found it strange that so many posters here would sell their soul to get Ilori back.
Not having seen him train or playing at PL level i couldn't give my opinion on it, however I would have to presume that two villa managers and BR seem to have agreed that he wasn't good enough but some fans think he should be first choice for us?

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Nov 2015 10:53:17
Illori is much in the mould of the like of Varane (obviously not as good) . However when you're in a scrap for relegation managers tend to lean towards the big strong brutes rather than the elegant CB.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, it is because he isn't good enough.}

29 Nov 2015 12:50:21
"Given a chance"? Just because you are young and have showed potential doesn't mean you should automatically be given "a run out". We, and indeed all clubs are in the business of trying to win matches. They're not in the habit of playing players just to see what happens, especially if said player has shown nothing in training to inspire confidence from the manager in selecting him.

It's fair enough we want players like the Teixera's and Brannagans of this world to be given first teams games here and there to bring them through. It's because they have consistantly shown they deserve it. What has Ilori ever shown either with us, or when on loan?

You earn a spot in the first team. You don't get it handed on a plate.

All the article links that are posted at times on the page, is their an archive or page with them in order? I seen a few articles on the Manchester city banter page I haven't seen before (not much else to be fair) I would like to read the articles. A page with all on it would be great. Does it exist, if so what is it called etc. Haven't had much luck finding it.

Not really Liverpool related but they are in a lot of the articles posted.

Thanks.

Bruce Grobbelaar has made a statement that he believe's were trying to sign Timo Horn for the Jan. window.
I have seen that the Ed's have said that his parent club would not be looking to sell in the winter window so has things changed or is Brucie speculating like everyone else or does he have any inside info the Ed's don't?
