every time that gillette soccer special went to Iain Dowie we were all over spurs...he even looked amazed that we were losing which makes a change from him looking like a dawn of the dead extra!! Have faith ye merry gentlemen and once february comes we will have half an idea as to where BR is taking us!!

Neilos

It's all about next season, maybe even this season if we get January transfer window deals rights.

Tottenham where saved twice by Kyle Walker.

first time in closing down Enrique then Henderson which would have leveled the game.

second, clearing Suarez effort off the line.

Downing needs to be gone he isn't a poor player he just hasn't got the big team mentality. and we need to get Sturridge to replace him as well as a left back to cover enrique.

Bernard is also a player we should be looking at to inject some creativity into the team either at left wing or attacking mid.

and ince to replace cole only positives can come from it; he is younger for a start so has a lot of room for improvement, also would be a better wide option than cole.

{Ed002's Note - Bernard was looked at - I told you that in the summer.}

Hendo miss again Carp! Downing asleep 1st goal.Mind due not his position, or is being on the pitch at all.Big shot Stevie laboured again! Midfield as much in need, as up front in January.Having said that were not far away if we get correct personnel in.Rodgers is Fenways man-back him! Or if you cannot, sell to who can.Dempseys wasnt a free kick.On other hand Stevies wasnt a pen.But Suarez one was! We where unlucky in end,but unlucky does'nt bring the points. But wouldnt it be nice if refs judged challenges without pre meditated-oh its Suarez so cant be a pen?!

28 Nov 2012 23:44:49
The most likely signings seems to be:
Walcott
Sturridge
Ince
Whether they are the players to make us improve I do not know.
With Lescott out of favour at city and our defence problems do you think we could sign him? I know he doesn't fit the owners policy but still a good player nevertheless.
Cheers

The only mistake with the defence last night was Downing was in it and did'nt check over his shoulder to see Lennon! Other than that i don't see to much wrong with our back four! I think Agger and Skrtel are one of the best centre back partnership's in the league! johnson can play right or left back and is a good player and Wisdom on the right is a revelation! Our problem's don't lie with the defence it's the midfield and attack that's the problem!

they should just give the 2 finalists in the europa league a champions league spot the following season. simple! then teams would stop playing weakened teams and therefore attract more viewers which will then bring in more money which then will make teams more interested in it! YNWA

29 Nov 2012 00:40:36
All the other teams from every other country are very interested in the Europa league and take it very seriously, look at Athletic Bilbao last season. It's only in England where that competition is looked down on and cheapened.

29 Nov 2012 02:01:14
I think that all European competitions should be treated with respect. Even when we were in the CL I never looked down on the Europa League as it has some very exciting games. It is also a good place to spot future stars playing for average teams from all over the continent. I unfortunately don't think that we will progress to see them at Anfield though.

28 Nov 2012 23:31:33
Ed2 mate do you think is exceptable being 13th in the table after spending 30+ million and Rodgers was the right man to lead Liverpool fc {Ed002's Note - It is what it is. The league tables do not reflect the money spent by clubs over a single transfer window. If you think that spending money increases the points gamed I rather suspect hjistory demonstartes that you are wrong.}

28 Nov 2012 23:52:36
Ed2 you haven't answered the 2nd Question was Rodgers right to manage Liverpool fc in your knowledge {Ed002's Note - I have said previously I thought it might be too soon - but whilst he is at the club I think he should have the support of the fans.}

Ed mate I would have to disagree, I'm not going to slate the team or the manager I think they are doing the best they can under the circumstances, however money can buy you success in football.. Real Madrid, Chelsea, man city and united to several degrees all spend big to stay competitive and in return results. {Ed002's Note - Southampton spent more than Liverpool this summer and are below Liverpool. Of the 11 teams above Liverpool only three spent more this summer." Of the seven teams that finished above Liverpool last season only two spent more than Liverpool.}

Ed002 either has a sticky keyboard or he is three sheets to the wind ha ha

neilos {Ed002's Note - I would rather be three sheeps to the wind, but alas not.}

Ed I think these statistics are way off to be fair. Other teams can spend a lot less on transfers because they are paying bigger wages and offer greater chance of success, they have also had established squads so not starting form scracth again. That said the changes in managers, and therefore the the type of player has been down to us.
History shows that the teams with the most spending power (not just in one window) will finish top aand the lowest at the bottom. Man Utd, Blackburn, Chelsea, Man city, and Newcastle and Leeds had a few seasons of spending huge got close but nearly ruined them.
How many massive spenders have gone down the same season?
The simple fact is we should have stuck with Rafa, his acadamy set up is now delivering and if he had the transfer kitty kk was given we would have been winning a lot more games.
BR is in charge now and I'm surpporting him, but we need to face the truth, that ulness you invest in the team initially to become winners it is unlikely we will ever get there ( no one else has ), once there you can feed through kids each year and just add a single signing which brings that costs down.
Utd are the perfect example, Fergie spent huge when he first went there and changed the whole team, since then he has just adding and slowly changing the team over the years. {Ed002's Note - It is hopeless my trying to explain.}

So ed..bottom line is...we dont know how to spend????
whom do you blame for??
the fans??
you say we need to support our manager when he calls such a crap starting eleven?
i dont know whats ur age neither u played football...but common you could have picked a better team than this one... {Ed002's Note - No, the bottom line is that the league table does not reflect how much money a club has spent on players. I appreciate that Rodgers lacks the support of many of the fans. I am very old and did not play football. Rodgers has his own views and convinced he is right - he will do the best he can for the club.}

I know it looks all doom and gloom at Anfield at the moment but personally I'm optimistic of the future. we are looking good in games and very unlucky to lose or draw.

If you seriously look at the team we are playing and the amount of young players that he is bedding in, it's looking good for the future. i wouldn't be unhappy if we didn't get a striker in in the transfer window. The season is written off. Lets blood the rest of the youngsters in to see who can cut it.

I loved listening to the commentators during the young boys game. Just the way they described some of the players as not the first team, what team in the premiership has a first 11. Most teams have at least 15 players that will rotate but its a squad of 25 now. people need to realise that Rodgers is here for the foreseeable unless the team go into a mad freefall.

I remember a few seasons ago when we got the winner of the manager of the year. I here comparisons with Rodgers and Hodgson. As far as I'm concerned it's night and day. We were totally lost under Hodgson, no plan, no shape, no idea. the opposite is with Rodgers. The team are playing to a style that looks good and just needs players to fit. That is coming with the youngsters as they have been playing similar for years in the youth teams.

I have said in previous posts that we play better with Gerrard in not such a pivotal role in the team, either out on the right wing or on the bench. He played his best season under rafa on the right. He can't hack it with Rodgers system in the middle. Players move the ball, keep in position, Gerrard gets the ball, loses it and we are in disarray. game in game out this happens. Not saying keep him out the team but do not play him in a position where he has to defend.

I agree with alot of people on here that Lucas will solve alot of problems but what if he gets injured again. We need a back up or another defensive midfielder.

Got to go now, my flight is being called. Catch ye.

Gazza

28 Nov 2012 23:27:56
we need to remember throughout whatever rose tinted vision of Rodgers we keep asking each other to give time and patience to that we have 3 wins this season...3
That is all.
YNWA.

You're right, lets just sack him now because clearly he's had enough time. we are not Chelsea, grow up.

When you take into account that our squad is missing experienced players like Bellamy, Kuryt, Maxi (seasoned internationals) who all could chip in with goals. Add to thelist Andy Carrol who has scored goals in the EPL (most notably for Newcastle) , these players have not been replaced by equivalent or better players. Throw in the likes of Stirling, Suso, Wisdom and other kids its not that surprising that we are inconsistent.
Rodgers is working with what he has, its FSG that got rid of some of the more experienced players in attempt to cut the wage bill.

1 question: WHO WOULD REPLACE HIM?

The only way is down I'm afraid. A lesser manager would be all that was available.

28 Nov 2012 23:24:23
Seriously....I can put up with most of the stuff the manager spouts if what he says is backed up with anything at all but read his comments after the game....'Gerrard was outstanding' apparently.......
Man....your watching someone else to the rest of us...hes the first who would benefit from sitting on the bench...
Suso should have played tonight.

Gerrard did play well - he wasn't rampaging forward like in days gone by but then again he is approaching 32, he is naturally going to slow down - he was pinging the ball around really well and accurately tonight and was easily our best midfielder (admittedly a midfield that consisted of Henderson and Allen).

Again Stevie G gave ball away more than any other player followed by Allen!

28 Nov 2012 23:23:20
Gerrard just looks so disinterested!
At the time when Hendo put his shot wide after Lloris' mistake, u cud see the liverpool players putting their hands on there head in disappointment,
Gerrard had no emotion what so ever, just turned around and strolled back to midfield.. just one example

Jak

What do you want him to do? berate a, morale wise, bottom of the barrle Henderson? That helps nobody and it was in like the 20th minute, hardly meant our chance to come back into the game was over at that stage did it? people are picking holes in strange things tonight

I'm just glad he's stopped picking Sahin....anyhoo, about that option to buy...

28 Nov 2012 23:13:24
Hi eds why on earth didn't Rodgers bring Michu when he came? Was he not scouted until laudrup arrived. I wud defo sign him for 10 mill in January ad he can play across the front 3 and I prem proven class player. I no this isn't a rumour its a plee! {Ed002's Note - Michu won't be moving in January and he joined Swansea to work with Laudrup.}

28 Nov 2012 23:08:20
Rodgers cannot afford to keep dropping points.

He needs 10 points from the next 18 in order to beat Roy Hodgson's pathetic points return.

There can be no excuse about transfer funds or the squad inherited because if anything Hodgson spent less than Brendan.

Next 6 PL games:

Southampton (h) resurgent
West Ham (a) Carroll's revenge
Villa (h) Resurgent
Fulham (h) Berbatov always scores against us
Stoke (a) Tough fixture
QPR (a) Harry Houdini.

FSG sacked Hodgson after 20 league games and 25 points. They won't hesitate to do the same again. {Ed002's Note - Carroll won't be playing against Liverpool.}

We didn't play badly tonight and had a lot of chances to equalise and find a winner, Tottenham scraped a win. The next 6 games are crucial but we are capable of winning every one of them. Only dodgy one for me is Stoke - we never get decisions against them and they play the most repugnent football in existence, I don't see us getting 3 points there.

A big part of Woys problem was his prehistoric approach to the game. A bit like when Howard Wilkinson took over Leeds or ...erm...Woy with England....or Woy with Inter

28 Nov 2012 23:06:03
Latest one I've heard is Downing and £4m for Walcott. Any truth in this eds? Would make sense for both sides I guess, although I doubt the Arsenal fans would be over the moon..

Lol how would that make sense for Arsenal? We'll give you are exceptionally fast, dangerous and young attacker and take your crap, overpaid, lazy winger you should never of bought - Downing will never be at Arsenal

When do the schools go back?

28 Nov 2012 23:06:05
Only won 3 league games this season . Shocking. Suso played in all 3 wins and now can't even get on as a sub.
BR needs to change thinks and quickly.
Expect us to scrape a win against villa. But lose to west ham.
We will be lucky to be in the top half.
Closer to relegation than the europa league.

Our manager should be PR not BR as we all now look for the opta stats instead of the results.
Back to back wins? not a chance.
Will be delighted when we reach 40 points and are safe.
Forget about 4th and start worrin about qpr villa and southampton.

Marker

Personally i don't think Suso not playing was an issue - I would have dropped downing and played Robinson (and would do so until January at least), drop Henderson and Allen and play Shelvey and Coady. Shelvey is better than Henderson hands down and Coady, although young and experienced, couldn't do any worse than Allen - every game he plays he becomes more ineffective, how bad does he have to be to get dropped?

28 Nov 2012 22:59:10
hi eds and fans
I am not too upset about todays result but reallu think downing should either be on the bench or in the reserves. He has to be told that his performances are not upto par.
What is your take on todays match ed001, ed002 or whoever is available?
thanks
hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - slow start, Downing was caught out badly, dive gets a free kick which they scored the second from. After that, Spurs sat back and we took charge, should have got a point really, lack of finishing has cost us again.}

Ed001 glad to hear from you again, who would you try to sell in Jan because they do not offer anything to pool? who is your number one striker to bring in?
thanks hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - I would sell Downing (obviously), Joe Cole, Danny Wilson and Pacheco. If possible Llorente would be my choice of striker and I would still like us to go for Keisuke Honda.}

Ed001 I don't about Downing 'being caught' - he is not good enough for me, Robinson is an outstanding young talent and conducted himself superbly whenever given the chance, why not let him assume the left back berth? even if he makes mistakes its good larning experience.

p.s. dempseys dive was a joke, as will Dowds performance - how many more times this season are we going to get done over by a referee? this has been the worst season by miles that I can remember for getting nothing but grief of officials, almost every game seems to be punctuated with a bad decision (or 5) against us {Ed001's Note - I would rather give Robinson the experience too, but it is not my decision.}

Jose is playing with 0 confidence. He needs building up and playing in his own position.

28 Nov 2012 22:57:37
Can so called fans stop calling for Rodgers head, what good with that do? No matter what manager was in charge of this current thin squad our results wouldn't be any better.

Seriously, a Co-manager team of Mourinho and Guardiola wouldn't even be able to get such an average team winning games. We're still suffering from an awful lot of money wasted on poor players, Rodgers needs time, (I know it's annoying to keep saying that) so lets just get behind him and support our mighty Liverpool.

There have been positives with the style of play and the youngsters coming through, and no one can say we didn't deserve to atleast draw or even win tonight, lets lay off our manager and look to Southampton this weekend.

With respect...if we couldnt afford 6m for dempsey then the chance of mourinho and guardiola is a tad remote ha ha

Neilos

This is right, we are paying the price for kennys ill advised spending spree - none of his signings (bar Enrique the last few games) have been close to good enough.

Having said that, to give balance, Rodgers signings haven't exactly set the world on fire either:

Allen - never does anything, side ways passes, ineffective tackler, gives away freekicks, rarely if ever plays a killer pass, dire.

Assaidi - looks decent in Europa League but poor against good players. Always seems to fade.

Sahin - inconsistent and generally poor, glad we only have him on loan, i'd send him back to Madrid at the end of the season with no qualms.

Borini - only lad who was looking good (despite not scoring), shame he got injured.

28 Nov 2012 22:56:04
Instead of sitting on your asses all depressed go outside do something useful with your life and create a new gadget or something , become a billionaire and buy Liverpool until then stfu and support Rodgers.

First half was a joke , Second half was absolutely immense.

Tom.

I was gonna invent my gadget inside cus it's a bit cold. Is that still ok?

Nick

1st half wasn't as bad as people make out, 3 clear cut chances (1 of which should of definitely been a goal), freekick against us that came about due to a dive and nothing else. Wasn't this mire of awful football people make out

Outside man up.

Tom.

We got beat again and the manager is clueless

28 Nov 2012 22:54:06
That was a nice dive, Gareth.

He bought suarez' teach yourself to dive dvd!

28 Nov 2012 22:35:38
This is the worst start I can remember. The owners are new to football and can only follow the fans reaction so Dalglish dismissal is down to the minority and this is what follows.
We have an inexperienced manager who talks the talk and is a media darling but his signings are not good enough and it appears the club is to big for any manager who isn't experienced enough.
Rafa kept us in the top 4 regular and you called for his head and you done the same with Dalglish so I guess it's the inpatient fans of that's unknowingly destroying our club and put us here.

The mistake they made was listening to the fans and getting Kenny in fulltime in the first place! Can you think of any other manager who would of wasted so much money on such bad players.

Our team is so thin and full of average players because of Dalglish and we're still suffering from that, not because Rodgers is a bad manager, he's doing the best any other manager could do with such a young team.

Pop over to the Chelsea page & see what they are saying about Rafa this evening. And it's almost unanimous the thoughts on Dalglish's signings... We lost players in the summer who were coming to an end to their careers, so give the new lads time please.

dd

Rafa only achieved top 4 on 4 out of 6 seasons, interestingly in his first season he took us out of the top 4.

Hmmm, eh, I think Dalglish's dismissal was down to his really bad spell as Manager, his style of play, his awful handling of the Suarez affair, his embarrassing interviews and dealings with the media, oh yeah, and wasting about 85 million on awful players, nothing to do with the fans mate!

Dont blame brendan, its kenny dalglish who is to blame using up all are cash on overpriced rubbish!

Get a life kid!!

So BR is Inexperienced??

So what does that make Kenny?? We are a laughing stock thanks to him.
£35m for Carroll.
£20m for Downing.
£16+m for Hendo.
£9m for Adam.
£80mill on 4 pub team players.

Yeah I thought so!!!

28 Nov 2012 22:35:15
Steven Gerrard as had one good game in 18 months which was the derby last season at home. I just hope the inclusion of Lucas in the midfield replaces Gerrard then we might see big improvements.

Mighty reds

Can you name any other Liverpool midfieldrrs that scored more goals than Gerrard in those 18 months? Just one!

Well seeing as he picks himself, that doesnt seem all that likely

28 Nov 2012 22:31:21
For all of those who berate the performance today you are either not supporters of liverpool or are simply persons. for 60 minutes of the game today we were much the better team and were extremely unlucky again. Terrible freekick and a shocker of a penalty decision. We created a lot of chances and showed that we can more than compete with a team that is likely to challenge for 4th. Yes this is a result based business but any person can see that we are out playing most teams but just lack that bit of quality in the final third when suarez is not firing. The future looks good for livepool

jtr

I believe we are the only side who have not been awarded a penalty this season, is that correct?

stonebraker

28 Nov 2012 22:30:29
After seeing that game I am actually hoping that we get Sturridge and Ince to add pace to our play.

cole £2m
downing £8m

ST; Alessandro Marti loan
ST/FWD; Daniel Sturridge £12m
Winger/FWD; Tom Ince £6m
£20m

£10m net spending

I can't stress how serious I am, downing is not worth 8 mill, 2 at most

12+6= 20?? ;)

28 Nov 2012 22:42:59
Seriously this is getting tedious....

You muppets that come on here saying 'we are playing well', 'get behind BR', 'we were better than the opposition'....when we lose or draw.....are either delusional or you must be all members of Rodgers family

We are rubbish, passing the ball for the sake of passing. His tactics are ill conceived and obviously easily counteracted by a good opposing manager. For some reason he also seems intent on playing people out of position and his signings have been quite frankly poor.

Reading were glad to see the back of him, and Swansea were close to sacking him last xmas yet according to a great deal of people on here....he is good for us

Wake up! we will not even break in to top 10 at this rate, and what quality player will want to come to this club...we will spiral in to decline unless a better manager is found...and soon

Cue the 'we are Liverpool we support our manager brigade, give him time'.....yawn put a new record on its boring!

I have watched this team for 40 years, watched the rot caused when Souness managed us and its taken us 20 years to even remotely recover....i dont see any progress under BR, not one iota....BR is simply not good enough

Rafa's left gonad

We are Liverpool we support our manager, give it time

Mr RLG, if you didn't not watch the game or your TV reception was poor - we were clearly the better team in the second half against a spurs team that beat the mancs and boasting dembele, bale, lennon and defoe. We even managed to make their defence look silly with an own goal.

If you adore Rafa and that ladyboy so much, you can always watch the chavs. Meanwhile stop coming on this page spewing your nonsense. I assure you it's not appreciated.

Singred

So without bankrupting LFC what would be your suggestion? I've been supporting since 77, Moores sold us to persons...our finances went belly up & certain players didn't deliver on the pitch over the last 2 decades - It's no suprise what we're seeing now.

dd

28 Nov 2012 23:11:29
Cue the let's hammer the club at every chance we get, f**k off and support man city if your that desperate

Try looking at the table pal!!!

We are in better position under BR than Kenny last season, go check it now boy!!

Lol yeah alrite lets job off Rodgers cos he has had a whole 4 months to do his job, if you're a liverpool fan then you are a disgrace, how on earth can the club stabilise and build if we sack managers after 4 months? Look at Chelsea, they're all over the place again (and after having had far more investment into there team), changing managers guarantees nothing, Rodgers and the team need time and support.

"Try looking at the table pal!!

We are in better position under BR than Kenny last season, go check it now boy!"

********

Are you trucking serious?

Are you content that we lie 4 points from the relegation zone?

Who cares if we are in a better position than what we were, under Kenny.

It is still more than unsatisfactory.

FSG are going to run this club to the ground and hammer the final nails into our coffins if they continue to employ 3rd rate unproven managers.

Let's see what January has in store for us!

We'll end up buying 3rd rate players from Cardiff, Parma and Energie Cottbus, because we've got an inexperienced 3rd rate manager, who gets excited by the likes of (Add your own list of crap players here).

Top managers would look to bring in top players!

Top players cost top dollar!

FSG don't won't to spend top dollar!

Top managers wouldn't accept that!

3rd rate managers who are out of thier depth would!

FSG: "Problem solved".

And before anyone mentions the purchases of Carroll, Suarez, Henderson and Downing. The net spend of those 4 buys after the sale of Torres, Babel and a few others is about £20-25m.

StrabaneRed

So you would have us borrow a load of cash and put ourselves right back in the H&G era?

I really hope the owners don't pay any attention to the "fans".

Rlg and strabanered. youve hit the nail on the head. this isnt progress.

28 Nov 2012 22:42:55
Hi guys/gals/eds,sorry for my last post getting my k&m mixed up, but I can be forgiven Im from the billy Liddells early years when the great man was paid 12 pound a week cant seem to get my head around todays salaries etc.watched todays game it was a case of trying to put square pegs into round holes playing players in positions were they dont seem comfortable, allan is not strong enough but gets played anyway having bought him I guess the manager doesnt have a choice, and henderson should not start seems he cant do anything right truth is we just dont have a midfield, the sad fact is we have a very decent side that with a few twecks could be in the top half of the table because those above us are not that good,of course if we could pull another suarez in the january window that would be a big help(godin)

28 Nov 2012 22:37:45
why is downong playing , when we won we had johnson left back with enrique as left winger thats 2 defensive minded players who also put a shift in , downing is so poor it unreal but the worst part of downing playing is every bad game he as his price drops , the kids have done us proud so why not use flanagan at right back , shelvey should start certain games , like tonight if BR does not know what players to pick for each team that we play then he is out of his depth , jonjo gets stuck in and can score , where as henderson and downing cant , how many mistakes does downing have to make before he gets dropped for good , we came back into the game tonight but the lack of quality showed its head , if kuyt or maxi or bellamy was still here then our results would be better , if the owners are only interested in making money then they should go , because by reducing the wages they weakend the squad without bringing in 1 or 2 quality players , and i realy dont want to do this but the fact is , if we carry on like this without major investment and quality players coming in then we will be fighting relegation come may , im hoping the owners pull their finger out and do LFC justice by getting in the players our clubs history and fans deserve ,as fans we go week in week out we spend our money with our hearts and hope the clubs owners do us proud , have they done that , no they have not they let us all down when we never got any cover in the striking department and as we can see we need about 3 quality players just to steady the ship , we need a left back and a midfielder and a striker , not an attacking mid that can also be a striker aswell ,we dont deserve the way the owners have treated us and the manager , we deserve better and january will be the wake up call , we will see if the owners are in it for their pockets or for the club , and the worrying thing is that every day the money for transfers in january goes down , well we live in hope

A WORRIED REDS FAN

Where were you when Kenny was in charge? Kuyt and Maxi left because Kenny was so enamoured with Carroll that he forgotten them totally. Rodgers wanted to keep Maxi and Bellars but their hearts were already set on going home. Singred

Rather surprised I am not shocked by today's result as we are a team in transition. Fans need to be realistic that we are probably going to struggle to hit 50 points this season.

I felt the balance of the side wasn't right and playing Downing at Left back against quality wingers was a recipe for disaster. On Sunday I could see the warning signs.

Sad as it may seem we don't have the squad to challenge for a top 6 place.

My hope is that we are able to beg steal or loan a decent striker. The real issue is that we don't have enough goal threats on the pitch.

Gerrard is going through a transition and will never be a 15-20 goal scoring midfielder.

Too much emphasis is on Suarez scoring.

Good sides have 3-4 goal threats across the team and we are in a dangerous position because if Suarez doesn't score we have little other threat.

Looking across our squad its clear we have less goal threats than last season.

I'm not going to slate Brendan, because its clear we are making small steps forward. We need to get behind the team and the manager, today we saw the good the bad and the ugly.

Today first half is one of the poorest halves we have
had all this season. However at least we saw a response in the second half and I am doubtful we would of seen this last season.

50pts this season may be enough for 10th -8th this season.

We have to concede this is the year that youngsters are blooded and we establish a solid platform and system of play for future seasons. I just hope our fans see the bigger picture and not just this result.

I had a really interesting weekend watching us against Swansea at the Liberty stadium and being on a train back to London surrounded by 5-6 LFC fans from all around the world in song all the way back.

We have so much history, great songs and memories however we have no divine right to be at the top because we don't deserve this due to poor performances, mismanagement and results and a lack of quality across key areas in the squad.

To get back to the top its going to be tough as the league and our rivals have improved whilst the quality of our squad has got worse.

LFC will have difficult days under Brendan and he will make mistakes. However I believe he and the team will learn. Hopefully for next season we will see the fruit.

A lot of what we are seeing is about about (change management) and moving through the stages - shock, disbelief , acceptance, experimentation and integration- the team is going through this and the players are going through this cycle at different speeds. Some will adapt some will thrive and some will need to be moved on.

I would like to know the editors feelings on some of my points today.

Brendan Rogers to be last if Liverpool lose to southampton at the weekend got this from a lawyer at the club there is great unrest in the dressing room Players are confused by team talks that arnt making any sense

I bet he makes more sense than you did typing that rubbish.

This absolute tosh mate, there's no way fsg will sack him, perhaps if they had give him more money or bought the players he asked for

It's 'Rodgers' & you've made that up Mr Anonymous.

dd

The players are to blame aswell! Theyre the ones on the pitch earning more in a week some of us make in a year! Theyre the proffesional footballers they all better get their act together

If theres any unrest in the dressing room u can bet ur bottom dollar that its revolving around gerrard not getting his way and blaming his league one level performances on other players

BR better "buck" up his ideas and get this team winning

I never EVER want to see downing playing again, henderson what a joke kenny dalglish has destroyed any hope of liverpool rising again done a lot for hillsborough etc but he's no ledgend to me anymore after wasting all our money on these clowns

Bill Shankly first 15 games in charge of first season back in top flight lost 8 drawn 3 won 4. BR first 14 games lost 4 drawn 7 won 3. FSG had better give him time as he will be great.Get behind your team and manager instead of talking b*******.Sometimes I am ashamed but most of us that post on here understand you never walk alone.

28 Nov 2012 22:25:44
I have backed Rodgers all the way and continue to do so. However, it is obvious to a blind man that Downing and Henderson are utterly useless and should be nowhere near our squad, let alone starting 11!

Suso and Sahin are streaks ahead of both of them.

Ash

Which one would you play at left back?

Couldn't agree more. henderson is absolute crap and how he is even allowed to wear a liverpool jersey is beyond me.

Agree about downing but not about henderson. He is nowhere near as bad as evryone is makking him out to be. You don't become the U21 captain just like that. I think it's just confiidence he needs. Once he gets that he'd be a good player but we, as fans, aren't really helping him now are we?

Errr...I'd probably play Enrique, our left back, there.

Ash

Sahin has been rank this season, he is better than Henderson but not by much.

I hope we play Robinson at left back, the boy is class and top flight games under his belt will only improve his game.

We're we so bad under Kenny?........

Our KING sacked for a servant ....

Fans unfortunately believe Rodgers is a better coach...oh well!.

Same "king" who has crippled our club and set us back years?

JOZLFC

We lost that fixture 4-0 under Kenny.

King? LOL more like the destroyer! your king put us in this mess

We were worse, and the reason we're still bad is because of Kenny's ridiculous signings and wasted millions

We lost 4-0 because we had 9 men on the pitch

Can I make a point everyone blaming kenny for the poor players ,were you singing kenny out at wembley twice last year .not saying they've preformed we'll ,but maybe these players are struggling with BR style of football . So lets lay off kenny abit he spent money but got to two finals and finished 8th

29 Nov 2012 00:44:48
Okay, so Kenny signed Downing who's not very good (for example). Did Kenny come around to Rodgers' house a couple of weeks ago and threaten to kill his cat unless he played Downing out of position two league games in a row even though everyone else could see it wasn't working after 10 minutes, too?

- Something Red -

I'd be interested to know if the people who want Rodgers out are the same ones who want rid of Dalglish.

28 Nov 2012 22:23:17

28 Nov 2012 22:23:01
rodgers out and take fsg with you were an absolute joke and embarressment if any deluded fans think otherwise go the doctors cos your not well and its noin to do with the christmas bug!!!

Tim

And then what mate? what do you suggest after that? If you don't have any intelligent suggestions, don't leave r******* comments

There seem to be a unusually high amount of dopes out tonight. You don't sack a manager after 4 months - progress is being made, time needs to be given - i'm not talking about months here, the club needs stability now more than ever, Rodgers needs years not months, we will get better.

3 years and we'll see where we are.

28 Nov 2012 22:20:32
We will not attract any decent player in Jan or next summer. If Tom nice is the type of player were about to sign our once great club is doomed. Rodgers will get to next Xmas then get the bullet. Until these new cowboys move on we will have to be content with top 12.

28 Nov 2012 22:19:15
I don't blame BR for tonight's result. We were better in the second and deserved a draw but the owners must show they are ready to support BR in the transfer market. If they were prepared to support KK and he bought the likes of Downing, Carroll, surely they can back BR who knows where he wants to be as manager of LFC.

28 Nov 2012 22:18:28
Great game, was exciting to watch. LFC deserved at least a draw, if not the win. I so hate the commentators on ESPN, always biased. That was clearly a penalty for Suarez (stamp on the foot by Gallas) but he'll always suffer from his "diver rep" and get second-guessed by refs for the rest of his time at LFC.

Gerrard is no longer the driving force on the team and a new "leader" is clearly needed in midfield. Robinson should have been starting instead of Downing. Aside from Suarez, no one else shows the aggression in the final third like Enrique. So he should stay there until Borini's return. Tactical smarts by Rodgers to have Sterling & Enrique help out on Bale & Lennon in the second half, because it worked. Sterling is world class waiting to happen with his fearless attitude. By the end of the game he was winning most of the battles with the much taller and experienced Vertonghen. Much of the usual from Allen & Henderson, and that's the real weakness of this team.

Good things happen to those who wait !! ra1969

It wasnt a pen!

We should be able to score without crying for pens every 5 mins. the players need to man up and get on with it

28 Nov 2012 22:18:25
That was an easy win. You lot are soo bitter its embarrasing. Men against boys tonight. Enjoy your relegation scrap.

Btw no Parker, Adebayor, Kaboul, Assou Ekottu, and Caulker!

spurs guvnor

Yes, you were outstanding for 20 minutes. Well done.

The Irish Rover

Its still a long journey up the motorway without the points though! Eh irish rover

And Bale's a diver! LOL! On the basis of the second half performance, you should be more worried for your team. Thank God we didn't sign Dempsey and Goofy! Singred

Easy win? yeah alrite lad

29 Nov 2012 01:20:52
Spud fan, even your manager (who by the way has the charisma and personallity of a wet lettuce) admitted that we were the better side for 70mins + tonight. You were so lucky to get any points from that game, we battered yous in the second half! We'll see where we both stand at the end of the season.

dannyMAC

That's why I hate Spurs fans. Out of all the teams they are always the ones who gloat after a win. They were very average last night apart from the first 15.
but maybe im forgetting how successful they've been over the past 20 years.

AVB always reminds me of Howard Moon from the mighty boosh

he takes himself more seriously than anyone else ever could

Spurs have been poor all season and yet sit above lfc......says it all really

28 Nov 2012 22:17:15
Eds, simply put, do you think we will sign A STRIKER, loan or permanent, in the jan transfer window?

HBred {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

28 Nov 2012 22:15:28
Well eds another defeat another poor start in the first 15 minutes which cost us the game and you or our followers will see the stats for yourself the amount of goals conceded at the start of each half since the start of the season and it's worrying.lack of quality up front again is costing us these games and I only hope were around mid table come january to give us a chance of finishing in the top 6 "if we get the right personnel in that we so badly need"and I never thought i'd be saying this as a Liverpool supporter "ever" eds but can you see us finishing in the top 6 this season on current or past performances.sorry for asking but its got to be asked as I'm sure I'm not the only reds fan out there thats concerned and hurting about this.cheers eds,Harry {Ed002's Note - I will stick by what I said before the season started. Fighting for Europa places.}

Ed I hope you're right, but I can't see that happening without quality signings in January. I realize that any time there is a change, it can take a bit to take hold, but at the risk of sounding defeatist, the lack of finishing is absolutely killing this team. we cannot continue to rely on one player to score goals. Can you confidently say that we will sign someone who can put the ball in the net?

28 Nov 2012 22:24:25
I know I will be called lot of names. will be called 13 yrs old , will be called plastic fans and asked to support city or Chelsea or will be called thick. I will respect your opinion as I don't want to get in any sort of argument with my fellow reds. But please fell free to correct me.
I think at this moment Rogers is the best choice we have.I think he has the balls to give youngster a chance and did well with them as individuals not as a team winning matches. But I think he doesn't have the balls to drop gerrard or even carra that's why he on the bench. I know if he want to keep his job he needs the senior players of this team with him. But that's really hampering the performance there is a huge gap between the midfield and the defence and then between the midfield and the attack only once I think gerrard was available for a pass from suarez in the penalty box and the same for henderson for his miss on the open goal.If your are gonna play 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 you need to get midfielders in and around the box. they should have that box to box drive with a good shot that will trouble the keeper. Gerrard is my favourite player but LFC is my life do you really think gerrard is doing all these things, can he track back , can he shot from 30 yard as he use to do?
If he cant we should buy a player who can do it. Shelvey can do those things but he is not the best so we do need a proper AM/CM with that energy and drive. Trust me its not based on this game its been since the Man utd game. If you take suarez out of the team or his goals I think we will be next to QPR. so I feel the first pririorty is a forward who can play anywhere in the front three a AM and a DM just to cover Lucas. If you think I am wrong please suggest me where
Red 316

He's not the best choice we have at all.
Kenny was better.

Martinez should have been given the job. If Rodgers continues to drop points and we drop lower in the table then FSG should go cap in hand to Martinez

That second comments should get an award for most personic post of the season so far, absolutely unreal stupidity.

Kenny WAS better

28 Nov 2012 22:24:14
Oh well, my earlier comments about Bale came true. He caused us all kinds of problems, and also showed himself to be a true prick. Do you think he cares ? Hell no - thet got the 3 points against us - again.

I read the match report on the LFC website, which says we lost our unbeaten run. We certainly didn't lose our winning run. Spurs have won their last 2 games on the trot - I would love us to do that - sometime this season. That's how far we have fallen, hoping like hell we can eventually put a winning run of more than 1 game together. It's getting beyond a joke, and LFC fans are being disappointed now week after week.

Never mind, we will all soon get used to this mediocrity.

28 Nov 2012 22:16:31
I don't have much issue with enrique playing on the wing but not at the expense of having to stick downing at left back. Enrique needs to go back as a left back or left wing back. He seems to have got a bit of fight back in him so why not.

MIKEY

28 Nov 2012 22:13:25
It's hard being a liverpool supporter...Damn it's hard, but you know what they say we never do it the easy way. I dont care if he comes back on crutches, we need Lucas back right now. Lucas on crutches is better than Henderson right now, but i haven't given up on Henderson yet, but i don't think todays performance and substitution helped his confidence. Sitting 13th and proud, i couldn't care less because were Liverpool.

AsianRed

You don't care we are 13th?

28 Nov 2012 22:12:58
It seems the more things change with Liverpool (kenny out, BR in) the more things stay the same regarding our results.
Didn't show up in the first 20 mins and paid for it, seriously. The same problem we had in the FA cup final, deciding not to show up until 30 mins after the game has started and by them it's lost/very hard to come back.
Anyway, not being a doommonger and that, we have favourable fixtures coming up and NEED points on the board. We are LFC and let's stick together redmen, firepower in Jan, Lucas back and then we are in a position to fight.

YNWA. mozzilfc

Nothing to do with not showing up, we played with nine men.

"We were the better side"

"We were unlucky"

WE, have three league wins all season. I'm sick and tired of this same old story. We've been a joke since the 08/09 season. Stop blaming luck or acting like results will come just because we are playing well, time after time after time we don't get the job done.

OK buddy who is to blame since 08/09?
Do you think we should throw all our toys out the pram now or save some for the next time we don't win?

Our Squad is very poor at the moment and looking at the players we sold in the summer e.g Bellamy Kuyt and Maxi each 1 of them would make that 11 tonight, Big mistake not getting any1 in now the funds are low thats worrying.

Downing - LB - No words needed.

As others have said, we got off to a bad start and couldn't cope with their Initial pace. After that it was all LFC. Thought we bossed the game and played well as a team. The one missing ingredient, a natural finisher! Be patient with BR he has done well with a small squad, limited budget and a group of very young players, rapidly promoted to the first team. if you are a true fan you will see that we are definitely heading in the right direction....YNWA

When you say heading in the right direction when will that include winning games. This is LFC we should not be sitting in 12th place!!

28 Nov 2012 22:03:46
Think we all thought the same not happy with starting 11. First 20 minutes was a shocker but from then on we totally dominated, deserved a lot more out the game. Poor refereeing decisions, two stone-wall penalties; efforts cleared off the line, spurs defence all over the show: Ended up really proud of the team showed great character. When you think back to last season especially at the lane there's no way we would've outplayed them but tonight we did, we just didn't get what we deserved.

Everyone knows this is a rebuilding team. If you didn't realize we needed to do this, then you didn't watch any of our BPL games the second half of last year. Got off to a slow start tonight, got unlucky with some calls and lost. Not the end of the world. I believe in FSG and what Rodgers is trying to build. However he still needs a few pieces of the puzzle and it will probably get a little better in January and a little better again in the summer.

Few thoughts on the current roster.

Glen Johnson, people get on him defensively but when he is in the lineup all of our really good attacking thrusts come down his side through him. Absolute must have in the lineup player.

Stewart Downing, not very good at all, brings no energy to the game, and Rodgers knows he has to go. Kind of surprised he isn't throwing a youngster out there at left back but whatever. Left back needs to be addressed at some point.

Jose Enrique. I like the guy a lot, strong physical presence, fast in a straight line without the ball, but at the end of the day just not good enough technically and slow with the ball in possession, especially painful as a winger trying to finish.

Again I think Rodgers knows he has to strengthen the left side. Look at how dangerous Johnson and Sterling are (although tonight not Sterling's best game ever) versus our left side. We get nothing from the left side of the field.

Jordan Henderson, seems like a good kid, maybe he'll get better but right now he just brings nothing to the table at all. I assume he won't get much playing time when Lucas is back in the lineup. God knows what Sahin did to piss off Rodgers that he would think starting Hendo in front of him is a good idea. Stay healthy lucas!!

yes the team is not winning as much as everyone wants, but this team is not as far away as most people think. 2 signings and a healthy lucas would go a long way to changing these results. 3 or 4 signings and lucas would probably solve it. probably not completely solved until this summer and next season.

Gotta keep Saurez around for the turnaround!

And for god's sake how long will Suarez have to pay for a reputation. The guy and now the team as a whole get absolutely nothing from the refs!

Henderson and downing out of the starting team, out of the squad and out of the club asap!

Use suso we were doing decent when he played made some goals. Also the sooner Lucas is back the better, harsh on allen playing defensive mid while stevie gives the ball away every 2 minutes.

Rest of the team decent but they gotta chip in with some goals.

Cole out as well. Bring in walcott, another striker and a good lb although i wager Neil Taylor will join in the summer.

28 Nov 2012 22:03:12
Great game despite the loss but i think rodgers needs to start opening his mouth in post match interviews cause these lack of decisions were not getting is costing us valuable points dont like mentioning his name but fergie would of done it by now!

Henderson i dont think the lad is going to cut it at liverpool.
Downing should be sold get a proper left back or play robinson and keep enrique on the left side of midfield lads is looking really good there and an out n out striker defo priority

ACHILLES.

28 Nov 2012 22:02:20
Manager has to take some responsibility .... Downing= down and out, Henderson = hen over there son - you run like one and we may as well have a hen in the side...!

Gerard is being played out of position - we need him near Suarez..... We need to make a huge offer for Wanyme....

It's not good enough Brendan.,.... We are LIVERPOOL FC not Swansea!!

28 Nov 2012 22:02:19
Please please please please please drop Gerrard. Currently nowhere near good enough to start every game or play 90 minutes at 50% of his old self. Give him half an hour once a week playing at 100% would be better.

I hate the doom-mongers as much as anyone, but the the table doesnt lie. We are are 4 points from the relegation zone! 17 points off top of the table and 10 points off 4th!

Southampton, Villa and Fulham at home and west ham away are our next 4 matches. Minimum 7 points from these 4 or Brendan might need to update his CV

What was the point of that post?

After watching the Swansea game I'd say it was pretty clear to see the 2 worst players on the field were Downing and Hendo, hence subbed in second half. Why then tonight start the pair of them again is beyond belief. F***** off with the selection tonight. Wisdom for Downing and Sahin/Shelvey/Suso for Hendo and Allen and they were there for the taking I think.
Jamie red

How you mention every midfielder except Gerrard is mind-boggling.

Don't be a coward.

Allen has been better than Gerrard this season. I'd pick Suso or Shelvey ahead of him too.

Even Sahin, though hardly on form, deserves a shot.

Disappointed . I have to say I like BR but he picked the wrong starting line up tonight . Downing should just do the walk of shame . Never been good enough . Henderson is a sub at best . The free kick that bale scored from was never a foul . We showed a fighting spirit after the second goal went in after that we were the better team . But we have got to score goals Suarez can't do it all on his own . Got to play with that tempo this weekend and get the points it's a must now so we can have some confidence up untill Xmas then in january it's a must to get a striker that can help Suarez .

Tough result, but a much improved performance in the second half. Agger and Enrique were awesome. We are getting there. I don't usually criticise players, but Downing is as good as gone. Singred

28 Nov 2012 21:55:05
I have kept quiet so far this season, no more. If this is moving forward, then I am sorry but i dont see it. Take tonights performance, player by player :- Reina does not look as commanding as he used to, Downing is not and will never be a left back, the two rocks that are Skrtel & Agger looked like they had not played together for ages, Johnson I thought was the only real plus out of the back 5. The midfield were shocking, all 3 of them, but specially Allen who has not done anything to impress me so far, bit like Adam all over again. Enrique always makes the wrong final choice with his delivery, and Sterling too frequently ran into blind alleys, leaving Suarez who as the game went on got more and more niggled, which affected his decisions. We do not have a plan b, and this is the thing I said we would miss back on the final day of the transfer window, we can not change it up. BR may have a contract that says 3 years at least, but if this carries on he wont make May. We need a big shake up, but i dont think we have the financial resources to do so, so we will have to be shrewd in our purchases. Drop Allen and give Shelvey a proper run, drop downing and give either Suso or Assaidi a run. My ten pence worth, got it off my chest. Come on you reds, lets start getting the results we need YNWA.

28 Nov 2012 21:54:44
we need 12 points from the last 6 games this year which when you look at he fixtures is doable. Can people not see that we are playing far better football than we have done under either KK or Roy.
Get behind the team and don't get your hopes of up of who we will get in January

You're wrong.

We played much better football under King Kenny.

28 Nov 2012 21:54:28
Cannot believe Rodgers. He had my full support till the game against Swansea and now tonight.

Like everyone else Im mistified at downing at left back and why henderson is playing when we have Suso, shelvey and Sahin.

Rodgers has lost his mind just when he got it so right against Wigan. If he goes back to the team that started against Wigan. Suso had 3 chances early in that game. We would have won 5 nil if he stayed on. Henderson came on and did nothing and somehow that won us the game according to everybody. I call that coincidence.

This season is all about finding the right style and team selection now. Battle for fourth place is gone.

Still think Rodgers can succeed in time. Just needs to chalk this down to experience and discontinue this team selection choice imediately.

The way things are now i'd be more than happy to take 8th.

The owners have left us in S*** street this season thanks to the most embarrasing transfer window in LFC history. The need, if possible to correct this in January. If we had a creative midfielder/winger and another goalscorer we would be up there. The team are playing well and i fully believe Brendan is the right man to take us forward..owners please support him in Jan if any good opportunities arise..YOU OWE HIM...
Dave

Are you absolutely sure it was FSG fault alone in the last window?

dd

I'll tell you now, there's no way they'll give him the money to buy another class striker, it will be sell to buy n all we'll get is another sodding prospect who'll likely flop, i'm not being sour i'm just trying to be realistic BTW i don't think anyone should get their hopes up either as we'll probs be let down by another disappointing transfer window.

I also think 2-3 seasons to turn it round like rodgers has said is unrealistic also, it will be more like 4-5 seasons.

I'm trying to stay positive after tonight's game, but we are so far from being a top Premier League team, its becoming depressing. We need a couple of quality strikers to bolster the squad. We cannot go most of the season with just one fit striker.

Devon Red

28 Nov 2012 21:50:14
Watched the match on line, first goal for Spurs a cracker - we lost the ball in midfield and Bale raced away. 2nd Goal was a deflected freekick - although it wasn't a foul - Dempsey dived no contact.

We were denied 2 clear pens by Dowd, but what do you expect from him - look at his stats when he has been the ref for our games, not had much luck with him (just to add he was the fourth official in the Suarez Evra affair and managed to lose his notebook when called to give evidence)

Apart from that we missed about 4 clear chances really pushed them back and we were the better side.

Need a striker to say the least - really worried the way Stirling was treated by Dowd - something not right he gets no protection and only has to look at an opposing player to give away a foul

Spot on mate, Especially about Dowd.

i hope that the scouting team can come up with some decent options in jan, it isn't to hard to find inform players with contracts ending at the end of the season so would be cheap in the jan window.
below is a link to a list of players between 18 and 26 in the top flight leagues of all football nations, that have scored 5 plus goals league goal this season it also show the players preferred positions estimated market values and if you check out each player you can see previous years of performance data.

if you play about with the search parameters abit like lowering goals to 2-3 you will get walcott and huntelarr ect.

http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/suche/detailsuchespieler/suche.html?searchId=910913

my top 3 picks would be
samuel armenteros
eden ben basat
yoan gourffran

Dnt get ur hopes up fsg are skint clowns with zero ambition!

28 Nov 2012 21:48:23
I am in support of Rodgers but I do have to wonder when we will see what the dizzy heights of 10th place might look like.

Nevada

I think my nose is bleeding.

28 Nov 2012 21:48:16
Don't know how the rest of you feel but I don't think we deserved to lose that. If only we had an out and out striker up with Suarez or even a goal scoring winger like Walcott and I think we would have won.

We are going in the right direction I just hope BR is given time to finish the job.

P.S I wonder if every one is going to be up in arms about Dempsey's dive tomorrow.

RAH, YNWA

Hi Brendan, please stop playing Downing at left back and Enrique on the wing.

Thanks

28 Nov 2012 21:48:09
Come on things are not so bad...

We have best goal difference of bottom 9 teams

28 Nov 2012 21:48:02
Does Rodgers really have a clue what he's doing?

In my opinion Yes, unfortunately for some miracle workers dont come cheap these days.

28 Nov 2012 21:48:32
We outplayed them and out sang them. The only thing they far superior to us in tonight was diving all over the place. Can't believe we didn't get at least a point but credit to the lads for their after going 2-0 down so early. FOYS

All the links was Sh*te so managed to only watch 30 mins of the game. Was Tottenham diving ? If they was i doubt very much we'll be reading that in tomorrow's paper but if it was suarez we would.

Starting out 11 vs 9 was always going to be an uphill battle. Y the likes of Hendo & Downing are used is beyond me. i luv BR, but to pick those 2 useless clowns is unforgiveable. this loss is on him.

28 Nov 2012 21:48:29
Someone please tell me how Liverpool lost that game?
First 15-20 mins Tottenham looked good but after that it was all Liverpool.
No end product i hear you shout, but we are creating the chances.
The belief in them and workrate says it all.Give it time and it will come good.
No doubt the doommongers who play football manager and think they know it all will be on here slating the team but I think they were brilliant apart from the opening 20 mins.Came out cold for some reason.

28 Nov 2012 22:09:51
well said could agree more with you we battered tottenham, rodgers has said from day one this is a work in progress it wont happen over night well from what ive seen this season if we can play like that after four months i cant wait to see what we are like after 8 months and a january transfer window KEEP THE FAITH LOYAL LFC FANS.

In rodgers we trust.

We lost the game by conceding more goals than we scored.

Get used to it with Rodgers

28 Nov 2012 21:46:42
We can't fault the performance apart from the first 20 mins even though the result is a bit disappointing. Second half we were superb and created a lot of chances. I suppose our run had to come to an end one time. Know its important to go on another run. We certainly played a lot better than last year when we got hammered.

Steven Gerrard you had a shocker and sooner you dropped the better. I do really believe that we have a great manager in the making though.

Mighty reds

He we go. Earlier it was Kennys fault and now Gerrard had a shocker. So from your point of view apart from the first 20 minutes and especially in the second half where we were superb (your words) we done this with 10 men?

No, sorry mighty reds! Rodgers had a shocker for playing Downing at left back. Thats where the first goal went in. You want to blame someone? Blame him! He's the boss and the buck stops with him.

The Irish Rover

Steven gerrard is playing a deeper defensive role, something he's getting used to, anyway say we drop gerrard, who should we play instead, Jordan bloody Henderson!! Ermm no thanks, the kid is awful, makes me laugh, Lucas has been out injured but everybody talks about easing him back into it but when gerrard is concerned, he's not allowed such luxuries because of the talent and leadership he possess, nobody else except Suarez shares the same passion and determination of gerrard, yes he's outta form but after carrying the whole club for the best part of ten years, I think he's allowed a few bad games

28 Nov 2012 21:46:39
If Arsenal want to give us 12-15m for Reina in january I'd take it. He's not performed any better than Jones this year and has been very shaky. Not mention his weakness for near post shots.

Nevada

What did Reina do wrong tonight Nevada? He couldnt do much with the 2 goals tonight!

The Irish Rover

All he had to do was not move and Bale's free kick would have hot him in the chest. How could you not see that as a keeper error?

Be fair Nevada.

Jones has been much better than Pepe this year.

Just say it outright. Don't be afraid.

It feels good.

28 Nov 2012 21:46:16
Bad selection cost us the game. Henderson, Downing should have never started..... Good effort from Enrique, Johnson and Agger, the rest was average at best.

HK

How many times over the past 2 seasons do we liverpool fans have to say get rid of downing and henderson before it finally clicks and they flog the useless pair, it's getting repetitive having to say it after every damn game now.

28 Nov 2012 21:44:41
You guys all sound like persons. How many chances did the team have to score goals in this game? We don't have the players in the squad yet. Enrique as a MF'er is questionable, but only b/c he clearly doesn't know what to do when in front of goal. I actually thought he played well and had a good presence in the middle and on the wings.

Suarez was fouled in the box or right in front of it, but we're not going to get those. and Enrique is 2 yards from goal with a perfect header and he elects to pass it back?

BR is doing what he can given he has a team full of mediocre MF'ers (with a few notable exceptions) and one legitimate goal scoring threat.

Chances don't win you points.

If you don't score, you don't win.

28 Nov 2012 21:44:27
Don't see how BR will not be sacked at the end of the season. We are simply going backwards. He has benched Suso completely, who has been the only bright midfielder. Gerrard is over and done with but still plays 90 minutes. His smile after the final whistle was pathetic. Joe Allen, Hendo n Downing, complete waste of space. Apart from Suarez, Enrique, Sterling n Suso, all other players can be gotten rid off.

28 Nov 2012 21:47:26
And now to put the feet up and read all the sack Rodgers, along with the we don't have any good player anonymous posts and the let's get shot of Fsg as well posts. Oh throw in a few delusional bring rafa back posts. Just an average night for an Ed after the pool lose. Anyway on balance honestly thought we would do well to get a draw in any case. We will be back but not for a couple of seasons the foundations are being laid and a bit if realism is needed by all of us. Ynwa

28 Nov 2012 21:47:21
Teams we've beaten - reading , Norwich and Wigan, please please don't let me see any mention of top 4 again on here, we are actually a bottom half team, ****in embarresin.

28 Nov 2012 21:47:13
I'm sorry but today's scorline was definitely rodgers fault, i'm not one of the 'BR sacked crew' but i think he deserves to be criticized for putting downing in at lb against spurs, they have some of the fastest wingers and he puts in someone who's not good enough in his natural position.

28 Nov 2012 21:43:56
Well anyone still thinking that Gerrard had passion and drive for the club just watch his response at the final whistle. Was he angry? upset? Nope, he shook hands with the opposition team with a smile on his face. Not one player should be happy at a defeat, especially the captain.

I have defended Gerrard to the hilt on this site, but you are correct with your comments there, I'm a scouser and obviously a red. And if I was walking off the pitch at the end I'd be so angry at a defeat I could barely shake the opposing players hands never mind smile. Don't know what he was thinking there but he has no excuse for that.

Waro

I saw that too. What is the deal?

I didn't smile for a while after that performance.

The way it should be.

That's our captain?? Disgraceful imo.

He played like he couldn't have been arsed tbh. It's been like that for a while now.

Rodgers better sort it out, if I was competing against Gerrard for a place and getting overlooked every week I'd be pretty pissed-off.

BJH YNWA

28 Nov 2012 21:43:20
I'm SO sick of repeating myself in saying 'Liverpool played well but didn't win'. We have a good squad but absolutely no goal threat at all. Spurs have the first 20 minutes of pressure & what happens? 2-0. We have a good 60 minutes+ of pressure and can only get 1, which some might call a lucky goal.

Whether we're being unlucky, playing poor, being robbed by the ref or whatever, I'm just generally sick of being disappointed.

We NEED to add a lot of fire power in January. I'll be extremely angry if we don't.

Don't mistake this post as a rant on LFC, because I'll always cheer them on whether we're 10-0 up or 0-10 down, but anyone can understand my frustrations. We're not getting the results we deserve.

Thanks, Ell.

Hey man it's cool... your summary is pretty much how it is. Roll on JAN!

dd

Don't rely on January ,I think we will all be very disappointed .D Bent on a loan at best.
Just been watching lfc tv Ian St. John has said more than once tonight that the owners don't have the money to compete for players

You're probably right about January to be honest, but we did sign Suàrez in a January period! I suppose it'll probably just be a matter of time (2/3 seasons?) until we see the top of the table again (hopefully).

Thanks, Ell.

28 Nov 2012 21:43:08
Rodgers what kind of training routine do these players go through..the way they miss chances like school boys and not professionals..imo I hope he gets sacked..cos I hate coaches who stick to the wrong team when we struggle..sterling is tired he needed to rest, gerrard can't play 2 games in a week, hendo was terrible against swansea and he still played him.he started downing for no good reason when enrique should be there with assaidi in front of him.But no he waits until the team is down before he plays the team he should have started in the first place..keep lying on squad depth and you need more players..when this team if used properly should be in the top half now..wh

28 Nov 2012 21:43:04
Well we certainly played with more integrity than them tonight. Unluckly redmen, it'll come.

28 Nov 2012 21:42:34
Battered them....truly battered them, yet no result to show.

Unlucky boys.

I cant help but feel after the first twenty minutes this team moulded into a proper team.

Gutted about the loss but still the eternal optimist.

P.S Little Sterlings sliding tackle to win that ball was class.

DaveyBootle

Totally agree Davey, It's a funny old game football (as someone once said) although we lost the players will take great heart and confidence from that performance, not many teams will go there and totally outplay them. We'll definitely get there.
kidmillions

Count me in too. Spurs away is a tough game.

A run of easy-ish games ahead now, I hope we pick up some points. Lets see where we are by the end of the year.

I'd like to see Robinson at left-back at some point. Was Wisdom injured? We looked more solid with Johnson at LB imo.

I also hope that Pepe follows the yellow-brick road and finds his confidence again.

Personally, I think Jones should not have been dropped, he commands the area similar to how Pepe used to.

As for Stevie... The same as Reina. I'm an optimist, but pandering to under performing players is a recipe for disaster. The pressing game we were promised has largely vanished.

A spot on the bench might get a positive reaction from him.

Still though, overall we weren't bad, we played some nice stuff. We were unlucky.

All you fans moaning, honestly, why don't you just go to some other friggin page? The better team lost if any of you were watching the game we were "Overran and Outmuscled" for the first 20 minutes and dominated the match for the other 70. We absolutely destroyed Spurs, we just couldn't finish our chances. The team is finally coming together and all you lot are moaning about sacking Rodgers.

Do you want to be content? Hell, go support anyone else for that matter.

BACK THE TEAM, a club is nothing without its supporters.

A very Happy Liverpool Fan

Poor start and gave away 2 goals, wasn't a free kick for the second though. Looked really good since then and should have had more than the one own goal. Looking much better against a team that tends to turn us over.

28 Nov 2012 21:40:50
Stop moaning you miserable bunch of people.
The owners are doing everything possible to put us in a sound position to build for the future.
In order to move forward with such things as increasing capacity of Anfield it will no doubt involve borrowing money somewhere along the line regardless of any sort of naming rites deal. Since the owners have taken over they have reduce debt attached to the club and tried to maximize our earning potential, part of this is getting rid of ageing players on high salaries and promoting youth. Now I understand everyone's frustrations at not winning all the time but you have to be realistic, if we are going to compete at the very highest level on a consistent basis things have to be done to make this viable. Competing with the best in Europe is an extremely, some would say excessively, expensive business so to do it all the time requires us to have a very strong and reliable stream of income to make things such as high salaries and large transfer purchases viable. The owners are completely right in wanting us to be self sustaining and I for one applaud their efforts to put us in that position, just remember not so long ago we were deeply in dept and probably not too far away from suffering the same fate as Rangers.

All of these things would seem happen much easier if it could be backed with some positivity from ourselves, the players are giving everything the can at the moment, as is the manager. If we were simply to encourage there efforts rather then taking every opportunity to slag them off I'm sure everything would be much better.

As for tonight's game I can do nothing but applaud us, it could have ended with a cricket score especially with Bale rampaging all over the place, maybe if we had been awake for the first 15 minutes things would have been different, but to get back into the match and push Tottenham as we did must be celebrated.

Slate me if you want, I don't really care. I see a rosey future and will continue to watch us with patience and a positive attitude as it is what we need to be successful.

Ali, London Red

Your bang on there Ali. Glad to know it's not only me that thinks this way.

You seem a very positive person so why start your post with such negativity, you say your not bothered what people think of you when you quite clearly are. Your entitled to your opinion on things as are the people who maybe don't share your optimism so don't slag people off for daring to look at things from another angle.

Unfortunately I fear we will never get rid of them

If only goals scored wasn't the mark of a team. If only! Wave after wave of attack. Only goal is an own goal. BR will go on and on about attitude, work rate and the 'positives' but we simply don't score goals and don't win games

Dont forget tempo and intensity. say all the cr4p you like we still lost. ifs and buts as usual.

It'll come. Just keep believing and supporting them. It'll come.

28 Nov 2012 21:31:52
Henderson and Downing you are not good enough for Liverpool FC.

What was Kenny thinking?

Why is BR playing them. What is wrong with Robinson and Suso?

I totally agree...

atleast these 2 players.......will play with confidence and consistency

even if we lost a game..i wouldnt care if those 2 standards were met

28 Nov 2012 21:31:48
If we lose at least the second half the players showed some fight. just need one spark player to go with our dominance

28 Nov 2012 21:42:19
Suso

Disagree. I think Tottenham just went to sleep after that had secured win 16 minutes into the game.

Suarez is spark player- need someone with an eye for goal- a finisher

28 Nov 2012 21:30:39
So........our best left back is actually our right back. Our best right back is a youth team centre back. Our best left attacker is our old left back. Our current left back is our old winger. Anyone else think we need to sort this out????

Its a master plan with few up the sleeve surprises .....
A work of genius .. or ist madness , I dont know one of the two any way.

28 Nov 2012 21:29:27
Vertonghen owned Sterling tonight

I think Sterling is a great prospect, I really do. But- he's simply not good enough yet to be a regular starter for us if we're going to be successful. Admittedly at the moment we don't have anyone better, unfortunately.

What are you saying? Do you mean a £10 million pound centre back was not outclassed by a 17 year old.

28 Nov 2012 21:29:17

28 Nov 2012 21:28:44
Shocking bit of sportsmanship by Bale nicking the ball when Johnson is trying to play it back to Spurs. Bit of Luiz Adriano in him.

28 Nov 2012 21:26:42
Henderson over Sahin? YES SAHIN, from MADRID! Been chased by all the top clubs in europe at one stage, best player in the league in his last year at dortmund, and we put him on the bench behind probably (for the amount we paid compared with his performances) one of the worse signings in the last few years. Yeah thats really gonna persuade him to stay on after the loans up. A club as terrible as ours (at this moment) shouldn't be able to attract players like him, somehow we did, so lets use him and try and get him to stay on!! And Downing over Assaidi is also pretty sickening, Assaidi is one of our only skillful, tricky, exciting players in the squad, whereas Downing, well we've witnessed his iabilities for over a year now and I am yet to see him put in one performance that's made me think "yeah, hes worth 20m", pathetic. He should only be used as a back up and NEVER ahead of any other player in his position, unless they are unfit. Please Rodgers sort this out, I dont know what went through your mind the last two games but please don't make this mistake again.

LJ

We sold meireles remember because of Henderson - what were we doing??

Can we swap Rodgers for laudrup please.

Rogers v AVB. The game of the 2 most over-rated managers in the prem, and we lost. We've become a mid-table side, BR has not improved the side. Allen is simply not good enough. He does not have the capacity to play passes to open sides up and is a water carrier. Adam was better than him. I don't see how the team will improve and from a team that was strong at the back last season, creating chances and just not finishing them; we are now a team not creating enough chances and leaking goals.
This is poor, I just don't know where we are going....

Yeah Rafa all the way
Let's play boring football and have 0-0 draws. Rafa can't even get a team with far more fire power than us to score. Stop living in the past.

Yeah that 0-0 draw even with chelsea's attackers is appealing and interesting for us, the team who have 3 attackers one being a lb and one being 17.

I hope you like the sarcasm.

What is Rodgers playing at...why do managers think that everyone who managed these players before had it wrong...Enrique a winger? Downing a left back? Yeh right why can't he just put each player in their rightful decision. He seems to think he's a genius. Well your not Brendan football is a very simple game!

Enrique man of the match against chelsea, man of the match against swansea playing wing back.Any winger should be able to play fullback, and he is not exactly spoilt for choice with the players at the club. no matter who he plays some on here will always slate him.The squad is not good enough and who's fault is that? because most were here before he arrived

Very true Mikey unless you're a positional and tackling unit called Lucas Leiva ;)

Honestly he not a DM that's why he is out muscled.if Xavi has to play at Busquets position he will get out muscled too. Except Lucas we don't have a DM and Lucas has been in-out for almost a year so who knows what form he might come back, then few mistakes and he will be slaughter too. According to me either convert gerrard into a Dm as what happen with few players when they get slow or try henderson there. thats the only option we have at this moment.

lol reactionary posts on the pages tonight!... we've had 3-4 really CLEAR chances tonight already, we should have scored at least once and probably 3 times by now, I don't think we are playing really badly and I think Dempsey threw himself to the ground to win that freekick - the result isn't going the way we want it that is for sure, but we are not playing badly.

Allen looks lost as always, Henderson does not look good enough and i don't know why, if we are pushing Enrique up, Rodgers doesn't play Robinson - a much better left back that Downing will ever be.

28 Nov 2012 20:56:47
We actually look like we have some fight in us now. Which is great, but knowing how inept we are at scoring (save Suarez) all this will do is delude Brendan into thinking his lineup was the right one. The very sight of Downing on the field makes me cringe. At LB it is almost certain goals conceded.

28 Nov 2012 21:08:36
His choice of Downing at left back seems to be based on the assumption that the opposition will never have the ball, since Downing is a decent passer and fullbacks get a lot of the ball in the modern game.

But as quite clearly is being demonstrated, we can't keep the ball enough because our midfielders don't get around the pitch enough and aren't strong enough in challenges, so we can't deal with a high tempo game. He has to see this and stop playing Downing as a left back.

28 Nov 2012 20:51:50
Ed is Wisdom injured or is he being rested? {Ed001's Note - he is recovering from injury.}

Whether he is injured or not i think he is an average player at best, before everyone on here says he is only young,my answer to that would be lay off joe allen because he is only young. Also he is playing out of position as a DM. How do you think sterling would do if he had to play CM not very good i would suppose, but he would do it for the team if asked to, exactly like joe allen is doing

28 Nov 2012 20:51:39
I am 61 and 16 stone, but if downing and henderson can get a game, I am buying a new pair of boots!

I can only think they are playing so they can be sold in january, because nobody would buy them if they were permenantly on the bench.I think already we can write off our chances this season

28 Nov 2012 20:50:04
Enough is enough already.....For god sake will someone please tell FSG...And no, this is not due to one result tonight, it has been rubbishe all season. Can no one see that this is going nowhere?

Do you know what, there will be those who criticise this post and say if you can't support go somewhere else. But that is exactly my point, no one wants or can be happy with this and my geniune fear is not that LFC fans/supporters will go and support another team, no fear is that they simply turn off and stop following the team. I know I could never follow another team, but I also know that I cannot contnue to blindly follow and spend my hard earned money on this rubbishe.

Please, please, please, will someone come to their senses and employ someone who is really experienced and positioned to take this club forward...

Spend your money? Are you at the match tonight?

While I do go to many matches at Anfield, you don't have to be at matches to spend money on LFC you person......Get a brain eh!

Just ask fsg they do not go to lfc games a lot {Ed002's Note - Yes, but there is a reason for that.}

28 Nov 2012 20:49:04
I've tried to not complain about the manager, but I really don't understand BR's team selection tonight at all. Downing at LB might work against lesser opposition, but never against Spurs, Gerrard clearly can't play back to back games in 3 or 4 days, and Reina should have never come back in for Jones.

Hope we can get something from this, but with our inability to finish it isn't looking real positive.

28 Nov 2012 20:48:48
we must have a majority of the most detestable fans in the league....moan moan moan moan moan !!!
why not try to support? why not be positive?

We do not have a god-given right to win games.
It has been said time and again that this is very much a work in progress. Rodgers has come in and is supposed to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear (look it up).well he will try and THEN he will start to get better players in - when he then has a nucleus of his own choice of players, that is the time we can begin to judge.

Only fools would judge him now when he is working with someone else's choice of players (several of whom are probably not of the right quality) I am not looking at this site again for a couple of days because unless we turn this game around (and win by a three goal margin) all these know-nowts will be out in force

Puzzled

3 wins from 13, enough is enough.

What support???,,where to suport mate after this horrible show??

28 Nov 2012 20:50:08
I know we are going through a transformation period but 3 wins from 13 games isn't good enough for a club like Liverpool. I hope Rodgers can turn it around because I really think he is the man to lead this club forward, but he has work to do.
Here's hoping we can nick a draw from this game because Spurs look very weak at the back at the moment.
DublinRed.

28 Nov 2012 20:49:38
I can only imagine, Rodgers is only playing downing and henderson, to try and put them in the shop window per say. if hes playing them cause he thinks theyre decent, then troubling times for lfc

Benny baller

If this is the "shop window",then who is going to buy soiled goods?

Good point, and i really dont know. I do think sunderland wouldnt mind hendo back, and villa downing too. Qpr always love a buy...

sterling will be a bale in future
allen can eat the money what we pays to him
henderson : sorry i am not authorised to say anything
suarez : pls leave the guy and let him go and play in his wishes..pls dont waste his future here.

28 Nov 2012 20:48:05
anyone who thinks this is a team on the up needs their head checked. Look where we are on the table. Wrong owners and a manager who doesn't think we need to spend in january.bye bye brendan and fsg you wont be missed. We're a bottom have table team now thanks to these clowns and some of the worst players in any league anywhere. Rodgers out

28 Nov 2012 20:47:35
Sry lads we are not good enough FSG did BIG MISTAKE HIRING RODGERS a lot of fans saying give him time I'm saying yes give him time and he will prove how bad manager he is. Any manager should be adaptable but Rodgers know only one way to play any manager playing against us knows that and will take advantage. Spurs started to shoot from distance to push us back and start to play their game coz we won't play different even if we loose

28 Nov 2012 20:45:09
Spurs have bale & lennon we got a average leftback & a kid who needs a break no forward on the bench downing playing leftback stevieg looking clueless and henderson get the cheque book out fsg becaues lfc are turning into a laughing stock

28 Nov 2012 20:44:12
Downing has cost us at the back again. Get him off the pitch, but Enrique left back and fetch on Assaidi. We've actually played alright since the 2 goals. Shame we are that bad to go 2 behind so early in the first place. I desperately want Rodgers to succeed, just like any other Liverpool manager in the past. He has to be in a precarious situation. This is shocking.

Kuyt, Bellamy & Maxi, all first team attacking players gone and not replaced. Bad, bad decisions are costing us massively.

28 Nov 2012 20:38:58
Taxi for Rodgers..........

28 Nov 2012 20:43:38
Shockingly abysmal doesnt quite define the performance..
Rodgers has got it all wrong playing downing and henderson! They did little or nothing against swansea!
Shouldve kept enrique back at LB and played assaidi or cole upfront..
Gerrard seems off the pace and we cant even keep possession!
Let not the 'get off his back brigade' start on me because i do think brendan needs time but got it sorely wrong tonight..
Just hope we can salvage somwthing second half but im not keeping my hopes up.
Disappointed to say the least..

28 Nov 2012 20:42:14
I'll tell you what.....let's

play a left winger (and not a good one at that!) at left back.

and play a left back (and not a good one at that!), on left wing.

And left's play an very ordinary midfielder who we paid way over the odds for in centre midfield instead of someone who comes from Real Madrid, and let's see how we get on...

rubbish, are we getting beat...what a surprise!!

What went wrong??

Sahin came from real madrid and so far has been rubbish, enrique was official man of the match against chelsea and swansea playing left wing, so what do you know or are you a serial moaner

If you think he is good enough for LFC then you are deluded.

28 Nov 2012 20:42:01
Dont think were playing to bad, gerrard seems to slow, for this type of game plus henderon and downing should be nowere near a red shirt. it should be 2-2. so come on brendan make them second half changes, that are defo needed. wisdom for downing, shelvey for gerrard and suso for henderson. pls.

There had to be atleast one positive comment on here tonight!

Well I hope not...

28 Nov 2012 20:37:26
Sorry eds fellow reds ,but somebody has got to do something now ,the job is to big BR .weve have a major problem think we will be in religation battle .can only bet very weak teams , not good ,hope J Henry's buttocks are bigger than his pockets

28 Nov 2012 20:37:00
I'm telling you now, we will not better 8th. Why on earth did FSG sack Kenny for BR? There is no way that this is a better option, well, not for the fans anyway. Might be a better option financially for FSG, but then again, lowering costs and then selling on is clearly their plan because there is no way that we can get into Champs League or win anything worthwhile with a team and approach like this.

But we are in this position because of Dalglish.

Mighty reds

Yep, those two cup-finals at Wembley we had under Kenny don't look that bad now do they?

And to think under Kenny Lucas was injured most of the season, Gerrard half of the season, Suarez suspended for a quarter, and then the woodwork. How is this an improvement?

28 Nov 2012 20:36:26
Where is the the players' hearts!?!? Embarrasing... is Hendo good enough to play in the prem? Is Rodgers clever enough by putting Sahin and Assaidi on the bench. Are Reina good enough? Should we sign one of the German talents such as Leno or ter Stegen? I hope we have a bright future.. I believe in the future

I doubt Leno or Ter Stegen would jump aboard this sinking ship.

28 Nov 2012 20:36:22
I seen this coming as soon as i seen the line up. I'm not usually one to moan but f**k me I can't wait until next season.

sure I said that last season haha

28 Nov 2012 20:36:01
we've fought our way back into this game. IF we had a bit of luck Suarez could have 2 right now and Henderson put in that sitter all of a sudden it is 3-2. We just started slow and they took advantage of there 2 chance. This game is not over.
Andrew

You are right that it shouldn't already be over. However, I think the more likely scenario will be us pressing early, and Bale or Defoe scores on the counter. 3 - 0. Maybe 4.

28 Nov 2012 20:35:47
any chance striaght swap rafa for rodgers, if I did my job like this i wouldnt last a week, lennon v downing great idea

Can't quite bring myself to agree but I know where you are coming from. I want to stay behind Rodgers as I feel he's got something to offer but belief is seeping away every game. I hate to be negative and I hope very much that those in charge have a definite plan in place for January.

28 Nov 2012 20:35:17
I sincerely hope the owners are watching this game and realise how much work is to be done before we are challenging for a top four spot. Its a reality check we clearly need more depth in our squad otherwise were just gonna fall behind massively. Bring out your check books for the summer.. Its gonna be a long season...

We have already fallen mate

28 Nov 2012 20:35:14
half time, still fancy something from game, its open and spurs would be deflated if they left one in, like all spurs teams down the years a bit soft.

B O H

28 Nov 2012 20:31:53
Who authorised the Henderson, Downing and Carroll transfers... I bet if you would have ask the tea lady at Melwood she would have told you that this is a big mistake!! So called football people, as Ricky Tomlinson says My Arse!

Well it is coming back to haunt us. We are now a top 16 team instead of top 4.

28 Nov 2012 20:31:30
I think we should sign Gareth Bale. Anyone think Tottenham would swap for Downing?

Wait have they re hired commoli ?
if they do,then we have a decent chance..

28 Nov 2012 20:29:07
poor start, now looking better, should have had one. one goal might rattle them, would be interesting.

B O H

28 Nov 2012 20:28:46
Dembele waltzing around Gerrard, Allen and Henderson. I never thought we'd beat Tottenham, as they have had our number for years now, but I thought we would at least be competitive. My biggest concern now is that despite strengthening our midfield, it is still woeful. Anyone who thinks our only weakness is in strikers is mistaken. Gerrard needs to be replaced and another decent midfielder signed

28 Nov 2012 20:28:00
guys guys guysssssssss

at 11.29 i did say my boys would walk over your team
1. cos we are your bogey team
2. your team cant handle pace
3. youve been getting away with it for a few games not losing

so.........i think its about that time........that i spread the joy..............and most importantly.........

i love it!! match of the day here i come

Dont speak to soon .....would absolutely love it if we came back now i would rub this comment completely in your face.
I agree about you being our bogey team but bit too early for the banter...

It's half time mate. We once came back from 3-0 at half time. Although your probably not old enough to remember that.

I think most of us liverpool fans are observant enough to tell we're losing without you coming on here and telling us. BTW the game aint over after 45 mins.

Next we'll you'll loose and be calling for AVB's head xx

Good dive from your fella Dempsey. Bet the press fail to mention that one.

I wouldn't mind your post half as much if you weren't such an arrogant .

You are on the internet, no one knows who you are, you can change your identity, your personality, anything - but you choose to big the biggest person on the internet. Why?

Jolly Red

Agree we have come back before but that is from forward attacking play .not 5yard tip tap rubbish backwards

Fair play to you to be honest Deano.

We're sh*te, end of.

I know it's been a frustrating game but it's just a bit of banter, no need to react so angrily, 2-1 now hopefully we're in for a finish.

Point 3 doesn't make sense to be quite honest... maybe you should look at our shot statistics or actually watch a full game instead of checking out our 2 minute lowlights on match of the day. if we had a half decent partner for suarez and downing wasn't present we could have won that game.

28 Nov 2012 20:26:45
Here we go "we were unlucky" pfffft

To be fair, we are awfully unlucky.

28 Nov 2012 20:25:07
Gerrard is doing horrible tonight, its quite worrying. Cant keep up with the pace :(

Gerrard is finished, Rodgers should have the balls to drop him.

Big Bill

28 Nov 2012 20:24:39
This game proves 2 things.

1- we are a passing team ordered to play the ball at all times we are getting destroyed in that department. Now for a team with the idea being pass pass pass no matter what team we should play we shpuld beat them in percentage for passing. It proves that we are so so so far behind tottenham alone and this is a team that is manage by andre vilas boas probably the worst manager in pl history.
2- the manager has no idea in order to adapt tactics to fit again he has blatantly played downing left back thinking of attacking now look whats happend bale destroying us. Im sorry but every team has to adapt tactics to compensate defence against players like bale. Its like saying we play barca n dont adapt to stop messi its bonkers

28 Nov 2012 20:16:17
We don't look interested at all. roll on the half time b*ll*cking! Henderson is having a mare tonight, but bale is immense! Just think forwards. one day sterling will be just as good

Don't you mean full time it will be worse in second half

When he's playing for someone like City or Chelsea.

28 Nov 2012 20:14:25
Surely Rodgers deserves the sack every bit as much as Roy or Kenny? He doesnt have a clue.

28 Nov 2012 20:11:53
Nextgen won 3.0 well done lads .senior side rubbish and people think we are moving forward ,maybe just maybe you might start to see the light now we will get hammered tonight maybe 5

28 Nov 2012 20:10:24
Time for my first knee-jerk reaction of the season.

2-0 down after 25 minutes and we're awful.

I'm genuinely worried.

IncaMan

2 0 down after 16 minute's!

Well let's sign Ince and Sturridge that will help......NOT! we are in trouble...

28 Nov 2012 20:10:20
Rodgers got team selection and tactics competely wrong now spurs are going to embarrass us. Thanks Rodgers

Br is a youth team manager thats his level any one who sees henderson and downing defending should not play them against bale and lennon surely if this is his choice he is not what we need but do fsg pick the team now.

28 Nov 2012 20:06:57
sorry lads but we look awful, 2-0 never mind the dodgy freekick what about the dodgy keeping...again.......
disallusioned is an understatement........

Downing, Henderson, Enrique - enough said.

All 3 are bollock and have been since the day we bought them...

If Liverpool finished lower than 8th will FSG sack him? Of course not, because he's a yes man who is prepared to try and do it on the cheap.

Bottom line is that unless you buy good players you get nowhere......

28 Nov 2012 20:06:34
Reina is a pathetic goal keeper. He has torres syndrome. Drop him br, the piece of crap. oh and as for downing, dont get me started. and Dempsey, woooowwwww well done big man. game over in 15 mins

Benny baller

Piece of crap! You person, theres players I don't like, but that's bang out of order sayin that.

Waro

Do one waro!

He thinks hes a big time charlie, and a automatic selection. His arrogance is unreal, for what is now, spains number 3. If youre actually watching the game, my statement is summed up when, he punched bales free kick, then started clapping as if he did something good!

Ever since he came back into squad, he just went straight back into his rubbishe routine. He is finished, as a goal keeper, he is not good enough. hasnt been for 2 years. We had our best run for 18 months when jones was in goal. stats dont lie.
Rant over, i want him out back to spain in the summer, and a 6ft4 big commanding gk, the likes of joe hart, van der sar etc, in.

Benny baller

Benny ballbag, I don't think Liverpool do player requests in or out for so called supporters like you. Consider yourself swerved!

Waro

28 Nov 2012 20:06:28
Absoloute joke, we are becoming a laughing stock if not one already, im afraid BR isnt up to the job, crap team selection, no motivation from the players when wearing the shirt should be enough, we need to make a change now sorry to say or bring in as was the original idea a DOF like Van Gaal

28 Nov 2012 20:06:15
Henderson did not touch dempsey. Wonder if the papers will pick up on that dive. I doubt it will even get a mention.
We are playing aweful too which isnt helping.suarez snd hendo should have scored
Andrew

28 Nov 2012 20:27:42
Dempsey has the same syndrome that Bale, Young, Nani, Welbeck etc have - "Not-Suarez" syndrome. They can do no wrong in the media's eyes because they are not a certain South American.

Jolly Red

28 Nov 2012 20:05:48
bye bye rodgers

28 Nov 2012 20:05:38
2 goals already..spurs could murder us tonight... Downing and Henderson (for missing open goal) ..we always save our worse for spurs....common show some spirit ..this is not Liverpool I have known..make changes...chop players do whatever it takes to get some pride and play attacking..

After seeing team selection 3-1 to spurs
Joe Allen needs to be dropped
or Gerrard

We have be blinded by American owners again
They took over hoping for fair play rule
we will be so far behind clubs , we wont even be in europe
I 'll back whoever is in charge but we should have had a bigger manager then rodgers and we should have better owners , yes they saved us from going under , but they got the club on cheap , so lets not feel sorry for them its bussiness
they are running the club on the cheap

they should be calling us Liverpool fan's

forget give rodgers time Laudrup is doing well as is clarke with same time and even less cash

K.O.B

Right now I can only hope it's 3-1, could be in for a pasting :(

I assume you are saying that Laudrup and Clarke are better than Rodgers?

Only a fool would make such comparisons less than half way through the season - go away fool

Puzzled

"After seeing team selection 3-1 to spurs
Joe Allen needs to be dropped
or Gerrard."

Notice the time of the post.

Stick an 'N' after the 'K' in your name and you're spot on.

But yes. The time has come to talk about Stevie. He's been bad for a while now, but he's getting worse. He's a liability defensively, he slows down our play in the centre, wasting good situations - and is contributing little going forward. To top all this, he strolls around and lets people waltz past him for fun.

The hollywood passes and long range efforts are looking more desperate by the week.

What's more worrying is he's never dropped, or even subbed off.

Obviously he's a God. But no-one is bigger than the club. Very poor last night - I have no idea if he was supposed to be our advanced midfielder or not.

BJH YNWA

28 Nov 2012 20:05:02
Henderson misses sitter Spurs go up other end and Bale scores straight away.

To make things worse United score in 33 seconds.

Why is Henderson playing and Suso and Sahin on Bench.

Chelsea fans do not want Rafa maybe he should come back to Liverpool. Surely he would know that Henderson is not worth a start.

I was so annoyed when I saw Henderson and Downing in team sheet.

28 Nov 2012 20:04:32
Oh dear god 2-0 down already :(

28 Nov 2012 20:04:22
Could someone please explain Downing at left back and Enrique at left midfield to me?

- Something Red -

I think BR is after a pay off as he has realised he is not up to the job!

28 Nov 2012 20:29:45
It's really bothering me this. He has a left back on the pitch, but he's playing him at left midfield because he had a good 45 minutes against sodding Wigan there. You want to try Downing at left back? Then that's fine, try it. But when you try it and it's plainly not working (as it didn't against Swansea and hasn't so far) just tell Downing and Enrique to swap sodding places. It's not like you have to use up a sub to change it.

Is this rocket science or something?

- Something Red -

2.0 down now 16 minutes gone

28 Nov 2012 20:03:31
2 - 0 after 16 mins and Henderson misses an open net. Game over already. And we may get demolished. Men against boys really..

28 Nov 2012 20:03:20
it is down to rodgers that goal. downing is a not a good left back which was shown last week but he still puts him there,

Rodgers is living on borrowed time

same team as Saturday/Swansea.

That means Downing and Henderson again.

Shop window or using squad?

28 Nov 2012 19:23:37
Bricking myself for the match tonight. While we keep doing our thing in drawing almost every game this season Spurs hit form just before we go down there. Seems to always be the way.

Just a pity Bale isn't injured - it might stop him diving all over the place, which he will definately do.

They do have pace to burn in their side and that's what worries me.

This is the 2nd of 6 away games now in about 26 days.

Isn't it great being a LFC supporter !!!

I'm going for a draw tonight,

1-1

Wish I could be more optimistic. I would love us to have a Massive win tonight, but that's my realistic prediction.
A draw away against spurs isn't too bad a result anyway.

Ill take a draw now 757

Are you serious? I think a tie would be massive. Tottenham will eat us for breakfast. Downing and Hendo starting again. We will be slaughtered 4 - 0

Is it too late to change my mind? Lol

After watching first half I change my mind about 4 - 0. 3 - 0 More likely.

Ok Mikey, I wasn't wrong about 3 goals for Spurs and none for us......

I know the proof is in the pudding but seriously...unchanged?........
Hes watching a different set of players to me and many others..Downing?...unbelievable.....hes obviously going for the usual bore draw.....ive been a massive fan of the manager and his vision but im having doubts lately, too much spin and too many team selections like this.....
Surely youre far better with players in their preferred positions even if its a lad from the ressies than someone like a duck out of water...........
Not impressed...and why is it all our managers end up leaning towards playing players all in their wrong positions?.....I dont get it....supporting fully anyway, hoping for 3 points, thats the problem..hoping instead of confidence...
sorry for the gloom boys just not inspired by what i see

I'm not sure if people will believe me but I'm a time-traveller...!
I know it's hard to believe but I've already seen tonight's game and it was gooood!
I also know things that might be too painful to reveal but tonight was special....Sterling, Suarez and Enrique were boss and our defence even played well.
I've not been too far into the future (I prefer the decadence of Caligula's Rome and the feel of sack against skin in the Dark Ages) but I would urge our fans to get behind us in the newly devised European Also-Rans and Champions including relegated Cup Winners Europa League trophy Winners Cup.

What a joke. Playing downing at left back up against Lennon/bale...!? Also Henderson should never be in ahead of shelvey or sahin. Brendan playing these lads all of a sudden to put them in the shop window...! 3 points are more important.

You wonder if Rodgers doesn't completely trust Wisdom against a player like Bale. He had a ton of problems with Kevin Mirallas.

Maybe it's because Wisdom is just back to

I can't believe some fans are calling for Rodgers head.

It is going to take time until were up and running properly.
You would say Everton have started well this season , yet were only 5 points behind them.

Most games this season we have been the better team , its the same old story of not being able to put the ball in the net.

Also we are out playing teams with a load of kids in our squad , and its there first season in the senior squad.
Suso , sterling , wisdom , shelvey , henderson.

I just hope FSG tell rodgers thé truth in january in regards to how much hé has to spend.
Because im sure he wouldn't have bought borini for that amount if he knew no other striker would be following.

Just give Rodgers time , if we were playing bad every game then fair enough. But were not , be patient and the 3 points will start rolling in.

Dunno about others but I would be very pleased with Ince, Walcott and Huntelaar. I think that would represent a very good January transfer window.

Less so with Ince, don't feel like he should be bought to be a sub and don't feel like he should be used over Sterling/Suso/Assaidi or even Walcott if he signed. That said, I don't think he's any sort of upgrade to Sterling/Suso/Assaidi.

ChrisMiz

If we did buy those 3 and you picked the team how would it look ?

YNWA

Jamesy {Ed002's Note - It needs to go on the team page rather than as a reply to this post please.}

Agree on all three only thing is it wont be easy to acquire all three or as cheap as some seem to think. I think we will sell Downing,Cole and possibly Henderson not because I don't think Hendersons a good player? I think given time he could be. But he's saleable and wouldn't really be missed and the money would be better spent on the said three players who all score Goals!!
kidmillions

I'd rather have one of those and a special player

I think it would be more like Ince and Sturridge, with maybe one more coming in, but i doubt it highly it would be Huntelaar. I think the ''biggest star'' to possibly arrive would be Theo Walcott. Although i have question marks when i think of all these three English players : Ince, Sturridge and Walcott. Especially when there is very good talent on the mainland of this Continent.

For example, in France alone i believe Loic Remy would be far better than Daniel Sturridge and i believe around a similar price range and wage bracket, or Aubameyang being more clinical and skilful than Theo Walcott could ever hope to be. Even Yacine Brahami being superior to Tom Ince. Obviously in my thee are my own opinions and conclusions.

Whilst i don't have an issue against English/British players, being English myself, i do think, if we are going to buy youthful prospects with high sell on value (that's FSG's the charter, never forget it), then why can't we go about it properly and bring in the youthful quality players from the mainland for £5 -£10 million keep them for 2-3 seasons until Chelsea, City or the PSG's decide to cash in on our risks?

Torres got us £25 million in transfer fee, Alonso gains us about £20 million, Downing, Henderson and Carroll how much have they accumulated in profit, when it comes to sell? Or Adam? There are examples such as Aquilani being an expensive flop and examples of Sterling and Shelvey as being very good sound investments in English/British players, but £5 million isn't a terrible risk, £20 million on an injured Aquilani always was a risky gamble.

Newcastle could cash in on Cabaye or Tiote and get a nice return on their investments, i believe there is something to be learned.

28 Nov 2012 18:07:48
I think if i had to be honest im hoping Rodgers doesn't spend much at all this January, with an eye on splashing greater amounts come summer on maybe 2 class acts and a couple squad fillers. For me what would be perfect is:
Wilfred Bony (12m)
Jeffren ( loan)

28 Nov 2012 18:06:44
As we play a 4-3-3 with Suarez as the fake 9 where he's doing well, how would another striker fit in? I don't see Suarez being as affective lw/rw. So a striker would come in like Borini and be played out wide...

I think the aim is an interchangeable front 3

I'd see it as a 4-2-3-1. With the three consisting of a RM/LM and Suarez slightly more advanced in the middle as the creator, with two holding midfielders (one playmaker eg Sahin/Allen). I do agree though, it's not exactly clear!

ChrisMiz

Y not play like Chelsea do. 4231

who ever we buy Huntelaar/Walcott or Sturridge play them as the main striker, Suarez as an attacking midfielder with Sterling and Ince on the wings.

BigD

Messi, who is also a false 9, often starts on a wing and drifts across the centre. No reason suarez couldn't do the same. Plus almost all of his goals for Ajax and Groningen came playing as the left forward of a front three.

Chelsea's interim manager Rafael Benitez claims he is under no pressure from Roman Abramovich to bring a Barcelona-style swagger to Stamford Bridge.

- Blog: Positives for Chelsea
- Chelsea in Clattenburg regret

Benitez has been parachuted in to save Chelsea's season, after the Blues sacked Roberto Di Matteo following a run of disappointing results.

The Spaniard's connection to Fernando Torres from their days together at Liverpool has seen him field questions about the misfiring striker.

Torres is central to Benitez's plans, but those plans do not involve imprinting the Barcelona method on Chelsea.

"He (Abramovich) sees how we work and he knows it'll take some time to fix everything," Benitez said. "But he knows we can do it.

"Roman says he wants to see the team playing well but not with the Barcelona style. He knows we don't have Messi, Xavi or Iniesta - who have been working together for years.

"We have different players and we can play attacking and defensive football together. We have to find the balance."
____________________

Did you hear Rodgers we don't have messi xavi or iniesta. Stop excusess and start winning before our great club to be forgotten

So the only way to play passing football is with Xavi and Iniesta. Wow, Barcelona is screwed once they retire!

ChrisMiz

Who gives a toss about chelsea,if you want to post these sort of comments go on the chelsea page and leave us alone

Only Barcelona have a messi xavi & iniesta we have our own talented footballers coming through & learning to play together Barcelona did not accomplish what they have now in half a season, why would we expect Brendan Rodgers to be able to do it on a limited budget?

I suppose you have a magic formula for playing better players than what we have got at the moment. Players that he did'nt buy but is stuck with

Drawing and winning for the last 8 games

He can only work with the resources he has and the majority of them arent his... its a little unfair to have to expect to go to tottenham and play them off the park just to keep fans happy! the vultures will be waiting tho im sure!

What is the Liverpool way? Yeah we dominated Europe in the 70's and 80's but that was over 20 years ago, were you even born then? We don't have a divine right to win games, that's done through hard work, resilience and patience. I'm sure Brendan Rodgers doesn't really care what you and all the other fans who want instant success think because it's not going to happen, not if we had Rafa, Guardiolla, Mourihnio or whoever as our manager, Rodgers knows he's in a tough job, with so much pressure because of fickle fans like yourself moaning, but I'm sure he has a long term plan to get us back where we want to be!

Gman82

What will you say if we win tonight? After all it's not impossible for us to win; Spurs are a very inconsistent side and not World Beaters by any stretch of the imagination.
Have a bit of faith! Swansea were reasonably happy with a draw, but Spurs wont be and will have to try and win which will leave gaps in their dodgy defence for us to exploit.

Lazy Luis Suarez has rediscovered his inability to score. This is the true Suarez who couldn't hit a barn door. What alarms me even more than that is the return of Andre Wisdom who will be a lamb to the slaughter up against Gareth Bale.

If Rodgers had a brain but unfortunately he doesn't he would put Carragher at rightback and put Gerrard on the rightwing in order to doubleteam Bale. However our captain and vice-captain are such primadonnas that even if Rodgers decided to do this, these 2 would throw their rattlers out of their prams. Fans should remember that Carragher refused to play at rightback away at Middlesboroiugh in the 86 point season resulting in a 2-0 defeat where Skrtel got destroyed by Downing which beggars belief.

There is no point in Rodgers getting any money to spend in January because he has already wasted 35 million and he is incapable of making a good signing.

It is quite obvious that Suarez is the most overrated striker in England. He is USELESS and Sterling should be benched.

So you want to put carragher up against bale? Stopped readin after that are you actually serious?

Nidge

Carragher and Gerrard on the right to stop Gareth Bale on Spur's left flank. That's is a quaint notion, if nothing else.
With this mentality we would need to double on Lennon's ferocious pace as well? So that's four players marking and isolating 2 of Spurs players, how would you deal with Dembele? Another two players!?

No matter how you approach it, there is an open over lap with doubling up on one player. Whilst this isn't Rugby, even AVB would be able to see it by at least the 65th minute and look to capitalise.

Spurs use the width and do so with pace, but this is nothing new, Tottenham have used this approach for the last three or four seasons. But AVB is shaky with tactics, it is only a matter of time before he is shown the door, he can't even manage his goal keeper problem, which he inflicted on himself and the rest of the squad. He is a liability.

No doubt Spurs are a tough opponent, and has some very talented players, but as long as we stick to the philosophy we should do well. We've not lost in 8 games, whilst we've not won many the team as a whole and individually are getting stronger with each game.

Both teams aren't in top gear, these three points are massive for both clubs, i think they'll be shared out in a scoring draw, but i think the win is there for both teams. It's down to the tactics tonight and i think AVB is soon to be found out in the Premiership, yet again.

28 Nov 2012 16:48:34
I don't see Carragher playing right back,Gerrard not playing right wing sure, but with Carra i just dont belive you.

Champions League - UEFA exploring 64-team competition

Seven English clubs could qualify for the Champions League every season under radical new proposals being considered by UEFA.

European football's governing body is pondering a proposal that it scraps the woefully unpopular Europa League in order to launch a 64-team uber-tournament that would double the size of the existing Champions League group stage.
With no second-tier competition, that would mean seven English sides all heading into Europe's top club tournament.

Assuming that European places for the FA Cup and League Cup winners are retained, that could open the door to Champions League riches for a huge number of clubs who have previously been unable to break into the top four.

A dilution of the quality of the early group stage matches would be inevitable, but a super-sized Champions League would also bring undoubted benefits in reigniting some of the largely redundant competitions. Many teams field semi-youth sides in the FA Cup and League Cup, for example; that sacrificing of cup matches for the sake of league success would instantly become a thing of the past.

It would also lead to some extraordinary anomalies: in 2011-12, Birmingham City were in the Europa League despite being relegated and plying their trade in the Championship. Under the possible new format they could have been playing Barcelona at Camp Nou on Wednesday and then lining up at Peterborough that weekend.

"There is an ongoing debate to determine what form the European competitions will have between 2015 and 2018," UEFA president Michel Platini said in the Daily Mail, adding that, "nothing is decided yet" and that a decision is due in 2014.
The spark for the radical proposal has come as UEFA is under threat of a breakaway alternative to the Champions League that is being rumoured among some of Europe's biggest sides.
But Platini was dismissive of the idea that any such Euro Super League could take off. "It doesn't worry me. I can't see how it could work outside the UEFA framework," he said. "Who will referee them? In what stadiums will they play?"

ed great site and excellent work.
I dont see much of player ins in january.
can see 2 laon comings possible a striker ( Bent) and an winger..
or sturridge if the price is met with a winger.
either way a couple of aditions is great..
but the major problem for us is Lucas..or DM.we actually have youngsters for all the position execpt DM which we played allen, gerrard and sahin and are actually un successful..
from caludio makellele to mascherano and lucas this is the backbone for the formation 4-2-3-1 , 4-3-3 or 4-1-4-1...
I expect we need a young player for this position sooner..coz if lucas gets injured again..we are gone..
allen, gerrard, henderson, sahin, and shelvey like to attack rather than defend and tackle and break the play..which only lucas does it.
expecting his return soon...
we dont have much room for failure.
no excuse will be tolerated after januray when 2 players comes in..

Untill then lets hope and pray suarez takes us safe across the river..
In liverpool and suarez I trust till I die.

Listening to earlier and Richard Keys spoke of the clause in Darren Bents signing to A. Villa. He was purchased for 18 million with a further 5 million after 50 premiership games. Currently he has started 44 premiership games and been sub 4 times totaling 48 games.I guess this explains why he is sitting in the stands rather than playing in a struggling side.

The reason for my post is this, Why not try get him on loan until the summer and perhaps even loan them downing in return. Bent is not going to play for Villa and would certainly be an option for us. I know its a bit pie in the sky but other teams have done this to us for years Cole, Aqualiani, Carroll to name but a few.

Hi EDS,

I think a perfect January would be Tom Ince (2-3mill due to the fact we get 35% of any sale Blackpool make, regardless of team), and Huntelaar for about 6mill. Any updates on either of these? I think it's important to note we don't actually need too much of an overhaul. Lucas is soon to return, allowing Allen and Gerrard to push farther forward, giving us another dimension in attack, and Fabio Borini will return in January-ish, giving us another option. He also didn't have the greatest start so will definitely want to prove himself.

TOTK23

Borini should have wanted to prove himself in the first place. He's a waste of money.

28 Nov 2012 16:01:09
Borini will come good IMO.

Schalke wont sell Huntellar for 6M and risk not qualifying for the Champions league which is worth 30M+. It makes more sense to let him go for nothing in the summer.

BR has gone on record as saying he isn't going to spend big to get a striker in the January window. I suspect this is because FSG have told him there is not much money to spend.
So I ask why did we go out and spend 3m on Assaidi (I am not slating the lad-in fact I think he offers a lot more than Downing) just to play him in the Carling Cup and the Europa League- surely if he knew money was going to be a scarce commodity he should have used it more wisely or got a player that would be fighting for a Premier League start.

i know Borrells promotion is supposed to be a good thing but i can't help but feel he has been conned out of a good thing with this current u21s season. now that success the U21s will have will be classed as the new Fella's achievements and not Borrells.

yes technically it will be Borrells achievement but he will be more in the shadows and the new guy will be reaping the rewards has he will have the title as U21s coach which isn't right. At least finish this season of with the U21's

it's like when big corporates buy out small up and coming businesses before they blow up to either keep their product at the top or to use the methodology and clam it as their idea.

Gerrard Confusion

a website keep showing Gerrard "in the hole" when showing lfc's team formation

However under BR Gerrards does not play behind suarez

Gerrard plays much deeper in front of the back four.

So before having a go at Gerrard understand what his new role is and by the way he's adapted to the role.

Many fans have not adapted to Gerrards new role and this is the reason for Gerrard being slated.

Sour Puss

His new role is not why he's being slated mate.
It's his complete lack of intrest of late, poor form and the fact he has far too much influence at the club hence why he's picked every game, despite the fact he's neither fit enough or good enough anymore.

MIKEY

Many fans have not adapted to Gerrard's new role because Gerrard hasn't adapted to it himself.

- Something Red -

Gerrard is being slated because he is not popping up with goals all the time because he is not creating chances all the time like he did for Torres.

Gerrard has adapted but some fans raised on a diet of Gerrard have become maladapted to the role he's now playing.

Grape Ape

We were conceding too many goals? Last 2 games no goals conceded. Don't think were doing too much wrong. Gerrard is playing for the team and will be more effective with Lucas back.

MIKEY as usual with Gerrard your stating what you think you know as fact. Gerrard didn't play well at Swansea but which midfieler did? Its amazing how quiet you've been recently then you come out with the same old Gerrard has to much influence at the club. So what he's earned that right to be influential, just like other one team players at other clubs. For some reason you really dislike him and it seems to me out goes well beyond footballing reasons. Other players you call great men just because you've had their autograph, what's up Gerrard not pause for a picture with you or something. We ain't exactly got class replacements and don't say Shelvey. He had the chance to win us the Newcastle match and failed miserably.
JohnBoy

If he is having a poor game or is out of form why is he in the team. He gets the ball at round 25-30 yards out and cant geta a decent kick at the ball then why do u need a Cm /Am there who cant kick it. I know since his knee problem he is not the same but we are either conceding goals because he is not tracking back or not scoring/ giving away possession as he cant score goals from distance. Before all you guys start slating me saying have I ever watched a game please come back with the stats on how many shots he had on goal this season from 20 yard out (please not the weak shot that I can take too)
what we need is to use him either in DM position (he will have to adapt to that position) or use him as a sub. get someone like dembele or sesesgon and these guys can shoot as well as have the legs to run ion the box.
All we LFC fans do is argue that he is a Legend ,no one is denying that, but at this moment we don't necessary need a Legend to be on the field ,we need players who can win games and if he cant contribute then I personally don't want him in the team for 90 min. well giggs a legend too but Man utd fans don't cry for him to start every match. All I care is someone in that position to play well and score goals , If stevie does that its great for us if not get some one else.
Red 316

But thats the thing everytime the other team attacks gerrard 95% of the time is out of position leaving allen with all the work. which is why BR got Henderson into the 1st team to pick up gerrards slack

What's everyone's thoughts on the Champions League becoming 64 teams and the Europa League being scrapped? Apparently UEFA are in discussions about this proposal over the next week or so.

If it brings in more money then I am 100% sure it will be voted for.
It will take the gloss off the competition and bring down the high standard of football available to the fans.
But the fans enjoyment doesn't matter anymore, it's the fans money that matters.

MIKEY

28 Nov 2012 12:39:09
I'd imagine the theory behind it is to spread out the prizemoney and TV money more evenly among the teams that get European competition. I suppose that's not a terrible idea.

But letting in tems potentially as low as 7th (or cup winners who finish 14th) in the league really cheapens the competition for my liking, even if it might potentially benefit us over the next couple of years.

- Something Red -

64 teams? Top teams would effectively be playing in two leagues? Seems like a move towards a European super league.
kisdmillions

Personally I think it would be a travesty to scrap another trophy in favour of money, even though we are more likely to get better financial benefits, lets be honest if we were in the champs league instead of europa this year then yes we would make more money but ultimately we would likely have been humiliated.

Nevada

I quite like the idea to be honest. The Europa League isn't really adored by anyone, nor does it attract anywhere near as huge an audience as the CL, however having more in the Champions League could benefit us but at the same time, as people have said, cheapen the tournament.

On the other side of the coin, and maybe this is just me being a 'romantic', but I think it would be great to see a smaller team rise to the occasion and watch them progress through the tournament. Sort of a football version of Goran Ivanisevic's 2001 Wimbledon victory. Plus, more teams involved would mean a larger array of teams to beat - we've seen it plenty of times over here that the larger clubs falter when up against opposition in leagues below them, so who knows? Maybe it would make it more interesting.

Id prefer to have both competitions, although a great option has always been giving the winners of the Europa League a place in the Champions League the following year.

Yes, I agree, Rafa's being utterly disloyal to a club that sacked him and then failed to re-hire him even though we had two perfectly good oppurtunities to do so. What an utter Judas. Disgusting.

What's he supposed to do, not work in football anymore?

Rafa and his family are honary Liverpudlians. Unlike some mercenary managers, who after been sacked, he and his family have stayed on the Wirral. His wife raises large amounts of money for local charities and his children go to local schools. Its fair to say that Rafa and his wife are greatly admired members of the local community.

Mate do you want him to wait with his family for all his life in Liverpool so that one day someone will call him to manage LFC. that guy was ignored twice for the LFC job but still stays in the city and after that he got a a High profile job so should he refuse that and wait for BR to get sacked so that he might have a chance.

hi eds reds i was on the phone in on lfctv monday jan molby and ray houghton were the guests i remembered , 2 years ago , watching the show with molby on and he was stressing how good suarez was , and when asked for one name for lfc to sign in the window of 2 years ago it was suarez. so i asked if he could say one more for this jan window . he mentioned son heung-min at hamburg and said there are numerous in the bundasliga. but the one player he talked about and praised was christian eriken of ajax. i know he would be expensive but just one player to make all the difference hed be the one. also ed02 had given me there answer to the same question , that answer was huntaaler, and if it were both with suarez , that would be something!!! i know it probably wont happen but really interesting to see what those who do know something of whats going on think. molby also said rogers is very hard to second guess! godbless96 and young stephen. steviep62

Any news on the players leaving in January ?

Doni, Pacheco, Cole & Downing ?

I heard Downing has been linked to a return to Boro or Villa. Cole to QPR or Lille. We could do with getting these players out , in order to bring players in.

Personally i'd be sad to see Pacheco go. He is a late developer. Also looks good in the U21s.

i am trying to figure out how good we actually are, its more difficult than just glancing at the league table in my opinion. i am still a little concerned with the defence although i do think it has improved over the last few weeks (concerns came from the mistakes being made at the start of the season ie skrtel against city, wba, kelly against city etc).i think we are looking good in spells of most games, we should of beaten utd, city, newcastle, sunderland, probably swans aswell, i think this bodes well in that we are outplaying these teams and creating chnaces just not finishing them, once some striker support is in the squad hopefully the results will improve.there arent many games this season that we havnet actually been the better team, this i think is rodgers best achievemnent so far, he has the team dominating games, they just need a more clinical side to them. i would say we are in with a good chance of top6 if a couple of good signings(dont mean expensive neccessarily, just ones that suit the team) are made

The Problem with January transfer targets...

As we fast approach the part of the season which some LFC fans are mistakenly identifying as the saviour of our season (the mid season transfer window) I decided to have a look at our transfer targets and rumoured players to see which we might benefit from the most. It's worth noting that any prices that I have stated are a combination of my own estimation of actual cost and what I've read on this site.

May posters seem to think that we need a clinical finisher to complement Suarez. I disagree somewhat, Suarez has been far more clinical this year than last. If anyone read my January transfer analysis last year they would've known that Suarez Shots to Goals Ratio (SGR) was under 5% last year, its more than doubled this year and is now comparable with other prem strikers (as you will see). What we need really is an all round forward or two that will chip in with goals and also provide assists as Suarez is currently almost the only method we score at all. Which should it be? For comparison I have included RVP and Aguero SGR.

RVP 19%
Aguero 18.5%
Suarez 12.9%
---------------------
Now our Targets...

Heung-Min Son 31.5% 0 assists, 8million
Theo Walcott 25% 4 assists, 11million
Demba Baa 15.1% 0 assists, 8million
Kj Huntelaar 11.11% 2 assists, 7.5million
Darren Bent 11.11% 0 assists, 12.5million
Daniel Sturridge 11.11% 0 assists, 12million

now looking at the statistics Son would be the obvious clinical finisher, but remember that would likely drop by a third or so when coming to Prem as its a tougher league to score in. For me personally looking at the players stats and their ability to play in a system like ours the choices in my opinion would be Huntelaar and Walcott, as they both score, are reasonably clinical and also provide goals as well.

I didn't use the amount of goals scored on purpose because some players have played far more games than others, so I didn't think this would reflect their value equally. SGR is a good indicator of a strikers worth because even if they have not played that many games its a perfect indicator of how their record would look with more games.

Both Walcott and Huntelaar have played or do play in a system a very similar to ours successfully so I think they would need little (if any) time to adapt. They both either have played or do play under pressure already and successfully. People may point to Huntelaar failure at Madrid and Milan, but at Madrid he was 8 goals in 13 games with a 13% ratio and 7 in 25 with a 14.2% ratio so still not a bad record.

Thanks for reading all, opinions welcome and appreciated as always.

Nevada

Don't Rvp and Aguero take penalties whereas Suarez doesn't? Has that been taken into account?
kidmillions

Shots from penalties have not been accounted for, way ahead of kidmillions, the stats are simply the shots on goal from open play(both on and off target) which have been converted into goals. Another reason I didn't include goals scoredis because penalties and free kicks can sometimes skew the stats.

Well done to your sir,

What great knowledge you have.

Ince was been an arse at LFC asking for ridculous wages for a reserve team player and wanting 1st team games when he wasn't ready. Bad choice to sell him, probs would have been better to just loan him out but i still can't see him back in a LFC shirt.

Tom inch ? Is that his real name or is it simething to do with his height :):)

A young gun went free because his Dad was involved. If Tom Ince had a signed a contract that was fair for his experience he would now be in our first team anyway.

Clubs can not keep youngsters for the sake of it , it shows that for true development loaning out our startlets to passing , attacking teams will suit LFC.

To blame KK is just stupid as he never ever made the grade at the club

According to today's papers Liverpool along with a few other English clubs have been linked with Spanish attacking midfielder Nolito who plays for Benfica. How serious is this interest and is he any good?

Johnny {Ed002's Note - Sounds like an old story being recycled.}

Hi Eds, Do we have any interest in Nolito and Benat! they are both within our price range and age group.

Thanks

RedRUM {Ed002's Note - Nolito seems unlikely. If, as is likely, Benat moves Atletico Madrid is an option. Arsenal and Wolfsburg have shown some interest in him. Txiki Begiristain has, as reported, an interest in taking him to Manchester City.}

The reason Stevie G is not playing so well is obvious. At 32 he is trying to adapt to this pseudo tiki-taka nonsense. Shackled by a 'system' from a 'theory' manager.
Please get off Stevie's back. He is good enough for England !

HMS Liverpool

Gerrard does not play CAM for BR

Therefore he cannot create or score

That does not make him a bad player

Gerrard is doing what he is told to do by the manager

With so many young players someone has to be responsible and as captain and elder statesman that role is erroneously falling onto Gerrards shoulders however its wasting Gerrards ability snd that is down to BR

Grape Ape

So you think the entire team should adopt a playing style designed to get the best out of a 32 year old midfielder? That will last a year or two at best and then everyone will have to adapt to a new playing style again, surely its better to adapt now for the benefit of the entire team instead of just one player?

Truly great players adapt to any tactics and teams.

Nevada

28 Nov 2012 10:53:47
His not playing well, that's the long and short of it, BR is not stopping him from playing well, you can create from deep, you can pick up balls from deep and still spread the play, you can still have a shot or two on target, (alanso) I'm not on his back the lad is a legend, but let's call a spade a spade, he shouldn't walk into the starting 11, like the rest of the team he should earn his spot now not for the player he was. Leem

Bad manager, bad system.
It is the manager who should adapt. Not get stuck with a system.
HMS is right. Gerrard is good enough for England.

Dyno-Red

"Truly great players adapt to any tactics and teams".

Gerrard has adapted to the protecting the back 4

Would you like Gerrard to play both roles of CAM and protecting the back 4 at the same time?

Maybe he could sweep the gound when he's finished?
LOL

Grape Ape

No if Gerrards role is deep due to Rodgers tactics as you suggest Grape ape then surely pusing forward is no longer his responsibility. Either his role is deep and he is not tactically sound enough to stay there, or his role is forward and he keeps dropping too deep, either way its not rodgers fault is it? Unless he has been told to play box to box, which he is not really doing either.

Whichever way you look at it its still not rodgers fault that gerrard is not adapting to the system well. I'm not criticising Gerrard input this year because my post yesterday shows he is the most productive of our midfielders but being tactically adept has never been a strength of Gerrards has it?

Nevada

Also Gerrard has played everywhere on the field to a very high level in the past (except goal) so why shouldnt we expect the same now? Are people really trying to say a decorated and experienced captain of both club and country who has played in every area of midfield for club and country cannot adapt to a deeper role and still be effective?

Sounds to me like he is refusing to adapt to the role, he can clearly play there. We've seen him play there earlier in his career. The primary role of a captain is to do whatever benefits the team, do whatever is asked by his team to the best of his ability. Doesn't really sound like he's doing that does it.

Nevada

28 Nov 2012 13:41:21
To be honest i think everyone is missing the point, in my opinion Gerrard is simply not putting in the effort. I like most fans undertand every player can have ups & down, but when your down and not performing it is vital that you show the fans that you are working to put it right. Gerrard just doesnt do this.

The only time i've seen him putting in a shift this season was against man u and newcastle. He needs to take that into every game because he has the quality to play well in any position or formation. Also the ability to play the simple ball and not try to force a wonder pass is something which i feel he tries a bit to often.

K-Man

Clearly he is out of favour with Lambert and will leave Villa, clearly we need a striker. Hopefully the Villa fans are just putting those two facts together and don't have any inside info.

I don't see it myself, I don't think Darren Bent is either a BR or a FSG style player. We let Andy Carroll go why would we replace him with an inferior lazy version of the same?

Every Chelsea fan I talk to, says that Sturridge is to selfish. They will be happy to see the back of him.
So why do Liverpool want him ?

He's available

He's cheap but not free

He's young enough to fit FSG profile

BR supposedly likes him

He won't require a six figure salary

He's been blessed by aliens

How many more reasons would you like.

He wont require a six figure salary? He left City because they weren't paying him enough and I'm sure that I read he is already on close to 100k at chelsea, perhaps ed002 can verify or correct that last bit.

Nevada {Ed002's Note - I have no real interest in discussing salaries. Sorry.}

Becoz we dont have a young prooven right sided attacking player who plays in 4-3-3 with sterling suarez and sturridge up front..for 10 mill available...
have you got one?
walcot dont wanna play as attacking striker on the right and thats his probs in arsenal..
he want central role..
which we wont play anymore.4-4-2..
we only plays 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3..
suarez is scoring goals so no point in shifting him out wide..
sterling is playing good in left side, so wen need a right attacker...

Good coaching can get his head up and make him play less selfishly. If we did that we d have quite a player.

cozinoz

Chelsea fans only want big name stars Sturridge will never do anything there. Buy him and turn into a star player? That will do their heads in. Also Liverpool fans moaning it's pass, pass and pass again? Sturridge can provide something different along with Suarez and Sterling.

Rumours going mad on twitter last night that negotiations with Thomas Inces' reps are at an advanced stage. Would be a very welcome addition in my eyes. And before people start moaning that we are re-signing a player - did people moan about Barca re-signing Fabregas? No. Ince wanted 1st team football, wasn't gauranteed it with us, left, became a much improved player and will be back for us to play a very important role. Good move if true

Coily

When has Twitter ever been a realistic source? Cavani, Ince and Torres in January then.

cozinoz

Um, thats what loaning young players out is meant to achieve. barcelona didn't want to sell Fabregas when he left and got him back about a decade later so not really similar to a situation where Liverpool have d.eliberately gotten rid of a player one year and look poised to buy him back the next which is in my opinion a ridiculous state of affairs and pretty much sums up what happens with constant regime changes and poor decision making. We decided that we didn't want Ince now they say we'll pay 6 million to get him back a year later, all during a period when we apparently have little money for transfers - what a joke!

Biscanifyoucan

Not a arguement but if ince wanted first team football and he is that good why wasn't he loaned out?.

A question to all those that keep saying bring back Alonso, and Xabi is comming back. I think everyone can see that when Lucas and Allen are fit BR is going to start with them, so where exactly is he going to play in a 4,3,3 system which is what BR loves?
The world cup is in Brazil, Lucas will want to play in it and Xabi will want to be there with Spain, neither can afford to be a back up player at LFC.
Move on.

Could just drop Allen and play Xabi and Lucas in stead. Joe's got no chance of going to the World Cup with Wales anyway!

The chance to re-sign Xabi was summer before last, he had stated to some people at madrid he would welcome a return and at the time was having some issues with management. Those conditions have since improved and he has stated he would now like to finish his career there but did also say that he would like to be a coach at liverpool once his badges are done.

Nevada

Would love that..xabi and luacs in the middle...gerrard will re discover his touch..with suarez sterling and another attacker up front...
awesome it would be...

Xabi Alonso is 31 by the time he arrived here and readjusted to the pace of the Premiership. You'd all be on here screaming "He's too old, he's finished, why did we bring him back. Get over it! So BR has said LFC have not shackled Gerrard. To all those that have been defending the deserved criticism of Gerrard......stop trying to defending just accept he has been poor for a long time now. Nowhere near the player he used to be and does not deserve to be a guaranteed starter!!

Did you watch the match against swansea clearly Gerrard was shackled to ther back likewise all his other matches under BR.

The ighost of mendes

To post no 2? 'Shackled to ther back'? what does that mean???

It means my brain goes at a quicker speed than my fingers on the keyboard.

And to keep up my fingers left out a letter or two happens all the time especially as my first language is not english

However try guessing what the word is from my spelling, its not cryptic!

Rodgers has told that this wil be a quiet january transfer window and the budget available is very thin. So i think the possible transfer rumours can be... Bony for 8m, walcott for 8m(if he doesn not sign a new contract). And loan offers for Bent and Sturridge. This can be possible guys.

28 Nov 2012 05:33:21
Best signing over Christmas = Lucas.

Not a transfer but He will be like a new 20 million pound signing anyway!

I can't wait until he is back.

Levans.

When he gets back to his best; worth more than 20M.

Sturridge may be a selfish player but a player like him wit great technique and skill wil be useful to our side. Rodgers can change his game tactically. While wilfried bony wil also be very gud. He is young, atheletic, strong and a gud finisher too. Sturridge can be a gud left winger. Now a gud right winger can finish the deal. Wit either walcott r kevin grossbretz cos both hav very gud technique and pace. I think these signings wil boost the depth of our team wit Lucas also returnin from injury. During january its gud v buy players from the premier league cos they can settle in quickly and thats wat v need. Atleast 3 players for around 30m atleast. I hope the board supports Rodgers. Wat do u think guys?

Far more experienced managers have attempted to change his game at chelsea and have thus far been unsuccessful, what makes you think rodgers would succeed were others failed?

Are we turning into Ajax?? Having all the best young talent and then selling them off for a fortune but never really pushing to win the Champions league or dominating world football in that competion. That's the bench mark that we where accustomed to under Rafa. Having all the best young talent is well and good but you need that little bit of experience to hold everything together. I hope that we are able to attain that.

Wouldn't mind playing in the Dutch league as I'm sick and tired of teams Like Sto ke,Sp urs,Man utd,Chels ea,West ham,Newca stle,Sunderl and.lol

Hi fellow Reds. LFC meeds to replace Stevie G. There was talk for so long about finding a suitable replacement but nothing has come of it. We got him for free and the reality is that we just don't have some one of similar talent that could walk into that position right now. Also we need an energetic defensive midfielder. We have never replaced Mascherano. Lucas may not get back to his old self until the end of the season and by then it will be too late. Also in terms of attacking threat we don't give Aasiadi more game time. For me he is afraid to put his leg in and get stuck in there. Great dribbler though and knows where to pass. Sterling is good but needs another season to settle down. As for the forward line Suarez and this hidden buyout clause is all hogwash. If we where offered 60 million though then defo sell. We could revamp with best young talent!

SAF spent countless tens of millions trying to replace Keane

Was he successful - hell no.

Say problem with Gerrard

We can't replace the irreplaceable

Pity we can't recognize the contribution of Gerrard

Congratulations Rodolfo Borrell on appointment as head of academy coaching! Good Appointment!

Getting endorsed by FSG is the kiss of death

How long will it be before the axe falls on him?

just want to know ed's opinion...whose the best and available striker out there dat will improve our strikeforce? tq 4 ur opinion..

asterix
malaysian kopites {Ed001's Note - Llorente in my opinion.}

I've never been totally convinced of him myself ed. Not a bad player but not great either. This season he converts 7% of shots into goals and has just a goal and an assist to his name. His stats last year weren't bad though 15% conversion. Is he mobile enough to fit into our system though? He doesnt move so much with Bilbao and tends to spearhead.

The whole return to LFC of Tom Ince, just shows what a absolute joke and how shockingly inept, LFC's transfer policy is and has been for a very long time.
Its damn 'Circus Charlie' time at Anfield.

I have never been to circus charlie it is any good?

Tom Ince has not returned so whats the problem?

Eds, what are the chances that BR coming out saying he won't have much to spend in January, is just very clever tactics by him? I mean if clubs think we hardly have any money, they are not gonna try and completely rip us off like they have in the past? if they know we have loads of money they will just bump the prices.
but by coming out and saying he will not have much to spend, could it be a tactic to trick other teams? and also to make a surprise signing behind closed doors were the tottenham scouts can not interfere? haha

thanks
LFCPhil {Ed002's Note - It is whatever you want it to be.}

BR has alreayd said we have no money for january "balance the books" Rodgers said.

Maybe he should have said it on twitter as on video no one believes him

Best to tell Spurs were after Bent:)

He said it to stop teams ripping us off. He knows the likes of hunelaar n walcott r in the final 5 months of their contracts, their clubs would want to get as much as cash they can get their hands on. It is way of letting them know we wont pay more than say 6 million for either, which is a fair price imo.
Indian Buzzer {Ed002's Note - I don't suppose for one minute other teams care or take any notice of such statements from Liverpool.}

Don't get why fans are so upset, come back in 3 or 4 seasons when we are completely dominating football! Also regarding the fan stabbed in Italy our thoughts are with you! YNWA

Arsenal used to say the same. Liverpool will never dominate the league with current infastructure/owners/management. Modern footy has changed so much the team who spends dominates the league.

Man united has dominated epl for 20+ years reason they have spend lots of money just check their squad and players for how much were bought

Chelsea were midtable team since Abramovich they have suddenly become big boys team.

Manchester city were in division since arabs came they have become big boys team.

Arsenal were invicibles since they stoped spending they have turned average team

Spurs were religation fighter since harry came and started spending they suddenly became top4 rivals.

Liverpool were dominating europe and finishing top3-4 when we were atleast buying quality players since we stoped spending suddenly became midtable team.

Bottomline is you need to spend to be competitive even the likes of barca spend despite having one of the best academy and quality players all over their squad.

You can clearly see the teams who stopped spending are in decline and the teams who spent are competitive.

Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying we should spend like city or chelsea or buy world class players but atleast we should be able to buy Quality players and make our team competitive which Liverpool deserves it. Its vey sad when pundits and Rivals fans take liverpool name with midtable teams. I never thought the time will come in our history where Rivals fans and some of our own fans will compare such a great club with midtable teams. We need 2-3 quality players to lift our squad and atmosphere at anfield. We have always been a very very proud team and may we continue. God Bless Liverpool fc.

Either we get an oil barron or we stay mid table

This building thing is rubbish

The only thing we are building is frustration

What about Ajax? When they played Man City they're entire squad cost approximately 3.5 million and they gave City a bollocking!

RedSpud

We did spend, Kenny spent £100m+. Whatever funds the owners have I dont think they are going to keep investing that kind of money without some sort of return.
Probably the reason BR had to ship quite a lot of squad players like Kuyt, Maxi etc who were on huge salaries.
I totally agree we need better players and a bigger squad but this is going to take time, might be another season or two before we are competing for that top 4 again.
REEGSLFC

Absolute rubbish. We never stopped spending, we just stopped buying quality.

Bring Walcott home BR! The stars are aligned for this to happen!

28 Nov 2012 00:39:41
Hi eds, reports saying we're in advanced talks to sign Tom Ince. Any truth in that? Also is there anything new about Huntelaar, Walcott or Sturridge? {Ed002's Note - Nothing new.}

28 Nov 2012 00:39:04
has liverpool had any intereset sedyeou doumbia who plays in the russian league,eds,he seems he would fit the bill,hes quick ,scores & hes at the right age ,&doesant need 4chances to score 1goal,just atought IRISH RED {Ed002's Note - No.}

28 Nov 2012 00:38:03
One player will be returning to anfield will be..... Thomas ince

Amazing - all the disagrees for this comment yet there is news everywhere that talks are at an advanced stage!!

Everywhere on rumours sites. Same as Ramirez, Gilfi, De Jong and Dempsey were everywhere in the Summer.

28 Nov 2012 00:36:20
apparently walcott is not on the offical calender for next year.

That's because he hasn't signed for us

cozinoz

Neither am I!,your point.

He's not on the normal calendar but did you check your advent Calendar?
He pops out on December 25th

28 Nov 2012 00:31:55
looks like Tom Ince could be on his way back in Jan, wouldn mind that! liverpool supposedly in advanced talks 12 goals in 18 appearances this year for blackpool

What do ye guys think?

RK11

Charlie Adam played well for Blackpool too and look how that turned out.

Yeah just like us ,were the worst team inthe league when it comes to transfers, inthe last 2seasons ...why did they let him go in first place,,,think the fa should allow 2season loan deals ,could save us afew million in the future IRISH RED

We will still find a way to waste money though.

28 Nov 2012 09:06:22
He left under one manager and a completely different one wants to sign him. Its not that bad.

Yeah Charlie Adam was Class

Right....what I am about to say may get a bad reaction from some fans but here goes....
Stevie G's days are coming to a close and it's starting to show this season. Don't get me wrong I absolutely idolise the guy but just feel he's not as effective anymore.
I feel we need a dynamic, youthful midfield trio. We already have Lucas and Allen, but feel we need to add someone to fill Stevie G. Shelvey is coming along nicely but not sure if he is the answer just yet.
Who would you like to see?
Do you agree about Gerrard?
We need to unearth another 18-year old Stevie G who bursts from box to box, chucks himself into tackles, passes the ball 40 yards and riffles the ball in the back of the net from 30 yards!!
RedRocket

Gerrard is just not providing the creativity we need. Allen, Gerrard and Lucas is an incredibly dull midfield. Need someone like Isco or Eriksen to play that role.

Drop Stevie G - thats a new concept. i guess you dont read these pages often?

I totally agree we need an attacking midfielder not a utility cm. But an attacking mid that is young and ready physically as well as technically

The two named players together would not replace Stevie G your havin a laff aint ye

Q. 18 year old that can add something to that midfield??

A.Suso

K-Man

Gerrard can hardly provide the creavitity we need when BR has him playing in front of the back four.

Its always right to criticize but it must be done with fairness

BR does not play Gerrard in the CAM role tired of saying it why can't people see it.

Cracking the case

28 Nov 2012 09:10:41
We could soon have Teixeira and Suso in there playing together. Now there's plenty of creativity there!
