hi ed,
you know this diego were being linked with from wolfsburg, is it the same one who fluffed his lines in Italy and juventus? Because if he couldn't hack it in that league how will he cope in this. I have seen him play in brazil before he went to Juventus he was awesome, do you know how old he is because he seems to have been around for a while. Cheers Ed

Deano {Ed002's Note - Yep. Spot on Deano.}

Adam deal is dead.

28 Jun 2011 22:52:52
Ed , do you think it is possilbe that liverpool have found a striker that they think will be better than wickham(may be the reason why we have not matched sunderlands bid), and only may bid for wickham if a bid for this striker if failed? {Ed002's Note - I doubt it I am afraid.}

28 Jun 2011 22:59:49
i know we are trying to offload quite a few squad players and deadwood still at the club, and am looking at the signings of Henderson, Downing & Adam as possible replacement squad players rather than first teamers, which in my eyes is a positive over the likes of poulson, jovanovic & Aquilani.
and a few of the young lads will step up again this season, kelly, flannagan, robinson & wilson etc for the departing insua, aurellio, deggan, konchesky & kyrgiakos. i would like to see us push through the clichy deal and add a strong pacy ball winner to the heart of our defence too. possibly micah richards?
meireles if he goes? will be replaced by diego yes he has attitude but all the great players do would also like to see another quality forward brought in maybe defoe?
thoughts please eds and fans.

im guessing the wickam deal will effect the chances of sunderland buying ngog now eds?

28 Jun 2011 22:54:41
Dimitri Payet has gone to Lille on a four year contract today, this I think indicates Eden Hazard will be departing the French club this summer. Probably not to Liverpool, probabaly Arsenal, Madrid, Internazionale or AC Milan but...stranger things have happened?
Connor Wickham is off to Sunderland, judging by today's British news coverage, as they are reportedely in advanced negotiations. Glad Why do we want a player so similar to Andy Carroll and Michael Ngoo (Tall Academy Player)? We would pay 8 mil + for him as well? Let Bruce have him.
The left back situation (in my (maybe harsh) opinion) is that Jose Enrique is good, but makes mistakes, Baines would come if he had the choice, but Everton won't sell him to us, Clichy is as bad a defender as Glen Johnson and so will not benefit our defence. What about..Joan Capdevilla or Ignacio Mario Gonzalez a.k.a Natxcho Gonzalez? Capdevilla is ageing but ever present for Villareal and Spain, would be cheaper than a premiership left back, real experience in Europe and reliable as any other defender there is. Gonzalez, the Uraguayan left back at Valencia? Very Good Player. Young. Exciting. Ed, any thoughts? Cheers.
JamietheRed {Ed002's Note - Payet is there to replace Gervinho.}

Some "dubious" rumours on the ssn website:-

Nasri & Aguero to sign next week
Forlan
Lovren
& the usual Adam & Diego

Also "apparently" there is a medical planned for tomorrow but not many people know about it, source is an ex-player "apparently" - dont hold your breath folks...............how many have we heard this.

Preston wool
Nasri and Agureo to sign for who? What's he on about ed?

28 Jun 2011 22:39:31
To those who keep on about us "missing out" on targets consider the "good business practises" of the new owners.
They are seeking results and not looking for mercenaries.
If KK & DC are not willing to pay what teams are asking then they don't believe the player is good enough an investment for that price. And if LFC are not willing to pay the incredible wages the players are demanding then we are moving in the right direction. Focus most of the money not on the weekly pay but on the win bonus's, assists, goals, clean sheets. That way you get passionate players who want to win game in and game out. KK & DC will pay what they feel a player is worth, taking into full account the odds of the foreign player not gel'in with the team or not adapting to the premiership(most foreign players aren't luis suarez). That is why LFC are willing to pay more for players proven in the premiership cos you know what you getting, rather than some less expensive wizzard with a ball stumbling over his own feet once he gets into the premiership. There's also squad relations to take into account. The more the players have in common, language etc, the more the mix off the pitch the more they're willing to learn and understand each other on the pitch. Football may be a universal language but a team of mates will always be more united than a team of guys who only get together on the pitch. Kenny knows this. This is the Liverpool way. And he is trying to bring this back to LFC. That family kind of bond in the squad that would go out and play with passion and die for each other on the pitch till the final whistle. Its not possible when everyone speaks a different language. The players you see kenny bring in will be heart first, ability second... Cos a passionate player will give you 100% throughout the season and not bail out of tackles compared to hattricks in 6 matches and buggerall for the rest of the season. AND THAT IS WHY WE ARE PERSUING ADAM, DOWNING AND WHOEVER ELSE KK PERSUES. So put away your wishlists. This game is not won on paper its won on the pitch.

hi macca can u tell us any news plz or who you think will sign cheers

28 Jun 2011 22:34:08
I do not understand the negative reaction to Wickham going to Sunderland. LFC have money. If Wickham was in KK plans he would have been bid for and on his way. Sunderland did not outbid us. Clearly we have other targets. I for one would have been disappointed that in the whole world of strikers we sign an untried Championship player. My money is on Llorente. Ultimately, we all must trust LFC. Just wait, be patient and we will be rewarded.
Thanks Ed's. Fantastic and addictive site.

dear god tell me its not true wayne bridge did anybody see him playing last year he is 30 and slow as a snail people run by him for sport f*** things must be going really bad in the transfer market if we are in for him has the money dried up all ready?
please tell me i am dreaming

28 Jun 2011 22:31:57
ed what makes you think sissoko is likely? i would love to have him personally and think he could potentially step right into the squad {Ed002's Note - As I have explained, he remains a viable option.}

28 Jun 2011 22:22:59
ed any chance we got henderson from sunderland but were asked to lay of wickham by them.? {Ed002's Note - No.}

28 Jun 2011 22:20:32
Think by now it should be obvious that we are not in a position to buy till we sell. Not selling aqua has hit hard even if we do find a buyer likely only to get half of the agreement with juv. Cole etc wont get us any monies but only save on wages again thats if and its a big if we can find a buyer. Till then expect litter movement in...certainly no big marque signing we read about on here..we are struggling to put a package together for adam so mata etc is a none starter
on a positive note not likely to looseany major players

28 Jun 2011 22:18:36
I am getting pissed off by hearing how long the transfer window is open. If LFC really want Wickham and can't match a bid from Sunderland then we really do have issues. How many more targets do we miss out on until we realise that we now have to sell 2 buy and also realise the useless job DC is doing.

28 Jun 2011 22:18:05
No way are the likes of the Hazards and the Agueros coming to us without CL football, unless we pay crazy wages which will not and should not happen. Question - are Adam and Downing going to improve us as a squad? Answer - Yes. Lets get them in then move on to the next targets - LB, ST and at least one more winger.
Remember where we were under the dark days of Woy, Tom and George. Now we have the King back as manager, great new owners, promising youth coming through etc. etc. Believe people, believe...

28 Jun 2011 22:41:20
Ed's what do you think of Connor Wickham having a medical at Sunderland. I personally believe this is a good think. I dont think we have neccessarily "missed out" on Wickham were as I think we have our eyes on another player. To me logic suggests Benjamin Moukandjo, a fantastic young player that we know DC has his eye on. Do you know of any enquires about the availabilty of the player Ed's. Also Ed's what do you think of our chances of signing him? {Ed002's Note - He remains an option - nothing else. If someone hits a fee that is beyond what Liverpool will pay, the club should walk away.}

28 Jun 2011 22:40:55
Do you think liverpool wer actually in for wickham ed? Thers no way liverpool could miss out on marveaux and wickham, if we can't sign players like that then its worrying times {Ed002's Note - Please don't worry. Timing is not a driver.}

28 Jun 2011 22:17:44
Ed, have a major concern with what goes on in our club officials heads;
- Jordan Henderson, 20 Million Pound.
-Andy Carroll - 35 Million Pound.
- Connor Wickham - seemingly not bothered paying 10 Mill' for.
WHATS GOING ON please can you use your sources in which you have to find out if we are going to bid for him, or if we have an alternate potential world class goal scorer. {Ed001's Note - or perhaps it was just decided he wasn't a potential world class goal scorer, because I have never seen any sign of him being world class. He is a good young player, but he is very reliant on power and pace, maybe that is not what we are looking for?}

28 Jun 2011 22:03:16
Look i may be wrong and this is not info i have been passed on but am i right in thinking now the price has been flushed out for Wickham we may still try to sign?

Remember Jones was supposed to have a medical with us and went to the Mancs, just a thought..

Cheers

Macca

28 Jun 2011 22:29:36
sorry eds but is it me or do most of the so called supporters on this site seem to be so desperate to sign just any old player just for the sake of signing someone? I mean if I post a rumour that we're being linked to a local pub player & then it turns out he's booked in for a medical with Arsenal in the morning coz they offered a new set of corner flags & goalposts thus out bidding LFC then I swear half these muppets would be posting "out with KK, another world class prospect bites the dust". Eds you must have the patience of Jobe, keep up the great work. Oh and KK, I hope you had a nice holibob just shut the doubters up in your own good time you Legend. Thanks for posting Ed, cheers ALB.

So I've only posted on here several times before, with nothing significant to say, but felt I needed to post something on the matter of transfers. With each transfer target supposedly slipping away, why are the majority (not all) getting worked up about how our transfer targets are being taken from under our noses? I am sure that if they are parts of kennys plans for our club then we will sign them without hesitation, as has happened with Henderson. Just my advice, don't worry as im sure there are plenty more footballers available than Connor wickham or juan mata.

28 Jun 2011 22:16:56
I only think that we will sign one or two max foreign players that could be clichy and mata for our left hand side. Most British players are on hoilday Adam Johnson I think will sign as he fits all the bills young English can play right wing or left wing I think the Adam deal will fall through due to blackpool being greedy with the price gary cahill may sign for liverpool he is settled up north and would welcome a move to Liverpool he could be the long time replacement for carra along with Kelly and cahill and kelly will be the two starting centre backs wen carra retires Main starting 11 next season reina, g.Johnson cahill carra clichy a.johnson Henderson gerrard mata carrol suarez Doesn't sound like a world clas team but is a team that would work well together don't like to admit it but that is what man u are a team that work well together with average players and a couple of world class players trust me it will work c'mon Liverpool

28 Jun 2011 22:15:34
Players that would kick this team into ti, tle winning form:
Mata (LM)
Cazorla (RM)
Adam (preferable)/ Diego (CM)
Baines (LB)
The Mancs would be quaking in their norwich scarves

Ed wot ur opinion on tryin 2 add bently 2 add depth

28 Jun 2011 21:56:19
Do those who are starting to doubt/panic because we haven't brought in an entire team of galctico's, not see any similarity with how kenny built his title winning team at Blackburn. Apart from Shearer, who was rated, who art the time would have put Rippley, Sherwood or Wilcox in a title winning side. Have some faith that maybe just maybe, KK knows how to do things a bit better than we do.

28 Jun 2011 21:47:57
hi ed lille have just signed payet and park chu young what would be the chances of hazzard, gervinho or sow coming to lfc? {Ed002's Note - Gerbvinho is leaving but I guess Hazard may be a slimmer option.}

28 Jun 2011 22:14:15
Take as you will, Here's who I believe will sign this summer:
Christian Zapata - Versatile, pacey defender who's done brilliantly for Udinese. Get him for around £7m.
Scott Dann - Holding on for his dream move, good defender and clinical in the air, £9m.
Gael Clichy - Quality, Premiership proven left-back who seems to want to come to us. £8m tops I'd say gets him.
Fernando Gago - Wants to come to us, a good, young midfielder who's good in a tackle, something we lack. £7m
Charlie Adam - Wants to join again and brings back the range of passing we lost when we sold Alonso, £8m.
Moussa Sissoko - The Eds firmly believe we want him as SG's replacement and I trust them, £12m.
Ryad Boudebouz - Fast, tricky winger with a decent final ball, and only young. Destroyed England for Algeria in the WC, but as I've said, we were s**te on the day, £6m.
Juan Mata - The marquee signing, truly quality and wants to help us get back to the CL, £18m.

Naturally players will leave and I see the following going.
Brad Jones - £1m at best
Emiliano Insua - £5m, disappointed tbh, good, young defender
Paul Konchesky - £2m would be brilliant value IMO.
Fabio Aurelio - £3m, too injury prone and won't sign pay-as-you-play.
Dan Agger - £10m, very injury prone unfortunately.
Soto Kyrgiakos - £2m, KD doesn't like his rash attitude.
Raul Meireles - £12m, a profit on the aging midfielder, unlikely to get game time.
Alberto Aquilani - £16m - The fee Juve wouldn't pay, we might drop to £14m but I see him going either way.
Christian Poulsen - £3m, definitely off
Joe Cole - £5m, aging and on a large wage packet
Maxi Rodriguez - £6m, on large wages apparently and IMO not good enough, fans love him after a good run at the end but he's aging
Milan Jovanovic - £6m, will go, possibly to Werder I've heard, wanted him in Jan.
David N'Gog - £6m, after trying to give him to Sunderland it shows KD doesn't want him really.

So the team to guide us to the CL next season is:
GK - Reina / Hansen
LB - Clichy / Robinson
RB - Johnson / Kelly / Flanagan
CD - Skrtel / Carragher / Zapata / Wilson
LM - Mata / Adam
RM - Henderson / Boudebouz
CM - Gerrard / Gago / Sissoko / Lucas / Spearing
ST - Suarez / Carroll / Kuyt / Morgan

All lfc fans . I am big lfc supporter for 30 years .and I seen good times and bad..
Now kk is manager which I was waiting for for years, to me having world class players will be great but the way we played under kk shows who ever he brings in , he will turn them into great players , unlike these abroad players who only want a big payday .kk I trust next season will be a good one

a question for the ed's or anyone....
is it possible to have two managers instead of one? i mean if it is legal, not wage matter?

Why all the panic I bet half of u haven't even seen wickham play we must trust the management the next big thing tag is nonsense he might become a nobody we have seen these so called future stars amount to nothin before franny Jeffers an all them trust the king men we will make our signings when we are ready

Cheers kopman

28 Jun 2011 21:49:41
Would people please relax and get over wickham, we obviously are not interested in him. There has been no confirmation of any bids from us. Aside from the backroom staff, not one of us knows who we are looking at, just lazy journalists putting 2+2 together and making 22. I for one am glad we are not wasting money on an unproven player (even if he is the next big thing) I very much doubt he will fulfil his potential as there are so many out there that dont. I trust and have full faith in our back room staff to bring in the best players available, I urge my fellow reds to be patient and relax, there is plenty of time left, and let's not forget the international window isn't open yet.

Cheers for reading (if the eds post that is)

I have a feeling we are all as LFC fans gonna be very pleased with the players KK brings in hes no mug he knows he must bring i quality the new owners expect no less so sit back relax and watch what we all wanted unfold in front of our very eyes. NO.19

Fao LFC fans. Due to LFC fans moaning about lack of transfer activity, LFC ate pleased to announce rick parry has re-joined the club as have Tom hicks n gg. Kenny has stepped down and woy hodgson is mgr. Happy

lots of down beat talk ... Gerrard sounding very positive ... He must know what's coming ... Fingers crossed its as good as he is feeling about

28 Jun 2011 21:43:41
Athletico president Cerezo has said in an interview that it would be bad if aguero went madrid (obviously) then went on saying "Siempre he dicho que los jugadores juegan donde quieren y hasta que se cansen. Pero si va al Sevilla, mejor. Si va al Liverpool, much simo mejor", asegura en una entrevista a......" He has then said not translated word for word that if he went to sevilla would be good if he went to liverpool it would be very good but he don't know where he is going. I believe Madrid but if they get Neymar for the big price tag of 40 mill qouted then I would be very suprised if they bid another 40 for Kun. I think this is just a plea to liverpool by cerezo to say bid. The transfer window is crazy and people will soon say rubish but if your not KK or DC don't judge.

28 Jun 2011 21:43:11
Im turning into a grumpy old man, due to people reactions to the transfer window so far.

Connor Wickham is a prime example of what i mean, not many fans on this site wanted him (however many did think he was a good prospect just not what we needed) but as soon as people hear Sunderland are closing in everyone starts panicing that we a losing out on targets and that by the end of the window all we will have is a lonely looking Henderson.

The window is a waiting game and we will just have to wait and see to what we end up but one thin is for certain and that is the season coming up is alot more promsing than last year -Mc

Ed I hope you publish this in Banter page because in supporting Kenny which I also completely do some of my red brothers are slating Rafa.

Before U slate Rafa we all must remember these things he worked with poor owners, stood up to Man u like no other manager did, established this youth system that we so now rave about, bought kenny back to club, plus gave us so many great European nights and once again after long time whole of Europe got again reminded under him that there is a red Machine which has KOP and every one should respect us fear us and we are mighty Liverpool.
Regards
Red Indian
PS: So Never use Roy and Rafa in same line again Please. Rafa deserves respect, he has committed wrong like any other manager but more good.

28 Jun 2011 21:20:12
I know shelvey is young and has potential etc. In my opinion when I have seen him play he looks incredibly slow and for his position the attribute of pace seems to be very important.

I would love banega or Martinez to come and be rid of shelvey, spearing, aqua.

Eds any thoughts? I know I am probs being overly critical but some of these players are there for the taking (Banega). {Ed001's Note - Banega is slower than Shelvey, so I fail to understand your reasoning for thinking he would be better. Martinez would be top class, but there is almost no chance of them selling him this summer.}

Wickham to sunderland.
Adam is a Liverpool player.
Mata agent spotted having fish and chips in an anfield chippy.

its all rubbish.

I dont take nothin for granted until i see them in a liverpool shirt.I predict

Adam wont sign until at least middle of july.

downing will join next week.

Mario Gomez will be our signing of the summer.

what do you think eds? {Ed001's Note - I am not convinced Gomez is really a target any more, we tried for him in January and got Carroll instead.}

28 Jun 2011 21:17:47
connor wickham having medical at sunderland tomorrow. LFC might still hijack by matching the bid. Wickham still would come to us if we have a bid accepted in the next few. Don't know if DC can work that fast but never say never in football. DC working on more important signings like Clichy Mata Adams Downing and another surprise big signing. Another may of just got off the hook but not to worry, there are plenty more fish in the sea....

28 Jun 2011 21:17:04
Dear oh dear fellow reds is anybody else as depressed as me with all this talk of Downing, Mata, Adam etc etc ?
Downing just isnt good enough for Villa let alone us so why are we supposedly trying to buy him ? He wont sell shirts, he wont set up goals and as sure as chips is chips he ain't gonna score many goals so why the interest in him ? Mediocre english player just to fill a stupid quota I would rather see young sterling promoted to the first team squad and get him in there early doors as i think in the coming years he is going to be sensational
Mata will probably go to somewhere that is offering more money just because Valencia want more money for their star turn which is fair enough
I know he has a buy out clause in his contract but i just feel that he will be somewhere other than Anfield next season and i am gutted because he is a top draw player and would probably have us kopites drooling Finally Big Charlie Adam I wouldnt mind seeing him join but Blackpool are just taking the mickey out of whoever wants to buy him as he only has 1 year left on his current contract and the price they want is farcical for a championship player

Don't really care who we sign as i will support whoever wears the beautiful liverbird on their chest as long as they give their all in every game and show passion for the club, city and most importantly us fans
Cheers eds wicked site keep up the good work and don't let the ba*%" () bring ya down {Ed001's Note - if Downing isn't good enough for Villa why was he their player of the year last season?}

28 Jun 2011 21:15:12
I know I will get shot down big time for saying this, but I am now wondering what the hell is going on at the club. Either we are getting poor at completing deals (so far lost Jones, Young and would now appear Wickham) or is it the fact that no one including macca and the ED's actually know who we are gonna sign and come July 1st we will be pleasantly suprised by who comes on board.

We need to be challening back at the top, and with just henderson we will not do that. Arsenal, Spurs, Man City and Chelsea have better squad depth in terms of quality and with man u already being strong and strengthening even more you can't knock people for being concerned.

I would like to think thhat Adam and Downign will come in, not for the fact of settling for 2nd best, but that they are better and enhance our squad that we have.

Hi ed, big fan of the sight on it everyday just thought I would put my opinion out here and see what people think, I'm a die hard pool fan have been for years just seeing these rumours about downing, Adam, Lennon etc makes me feel sick There no gods like robbie fowler no king like your kenny dalglish or your legend of today stevie g. We need players with class players such as, Adam johnson of man city we can get him for 20 mill great his a lad that just loves to play football like suarez there gonna be the names to remember in 30 years tym not downing, need a player who can play centre mid we just signed henderson this kid is class him with spearing coming through Kelly at the back right training we will be kings of England and Europe once again what's the fellow reds opinions on this would like too know Old timer dave

28 Jun 2011 21:28:36
With the international window fast approaching and no movement on English based players does that mean we are concentrating our efforts on foreign based players. Does that mean the likes of Mata and Diego are now are preferred options? Or does it mean we are dragging our heels and letting players slip through our fingers

I don't think we'll be buying more than one out and out winger. From watching the matches under Kenny last year, he packed the team with about 6-7 defensive players. He has a good history of playing like this too. Plus, we already know he loves a good wing back

I reckon the plan is to go 3-5-2 (or 5-3-2 whatever way you want to look at it) where we'll have 3 centre backs, 2 holding midfielders, 2 wing backs and 3 attackers. Carroll's service will come from the wing backs, and Suarez will feed off the tight passing that can only happen when we make the pitch compact and play short ball. This kind of shape got us our best performances last year.

So, I reckon the focus is all on getting a good wing back. I think Marcelo is up for grabs (especially if Coentrao goes to Madrid) but I reckon we could get Bastos, Vargas or Cissokho if we really tried.

This shape and 2 players would transform us:

------------------ Reina ------------------
------- Kelly - Carragher - Agger -------
Johnson -- Gerrard -- Lucas -- Marcelo
------------------- Mata ------------------
------------ Carroll - Suarez ------------

-Shane.

Why don't LFC bring Rafa as Director of youth. I believe is still in Liverpool. Because he has very good connection in Spain and especially Valencia Fc.

Not based on anything other than what appears to be the Dalglishification shape, policy and type of player being signed. What's happened to 24 yr old PSV striker - OLA TOIVONEN? Was he not on radar in January? Seems like a Viking themed Andy Carrol? 34 goals in 70 odd games for PSV? Big powerful unit, very direct, looks like a nightmare to play against if on form and polished and put on a fitness regime. Ideal under study for Big Fella. So team keeps style and shape. As I say, just a guess, a thought. Yes? No? Couldn't give a damn? Drew.

Wasn't Jones meant to have a medical with us but went down to the Mancs instead?

it kills me to say, but Aguero will not be joining Liverpool this season, it looks like he will heading to the italian giants of Juventus

Why are most people crying about 'missing out' on players? None of you know who we are really after anyway. Who cares if we didn't sign Phil Jones, Conor Wickham, Sylvian Marveaux etc, they were all pretty much unheard of until last season. With the exception of Young, who's just a greedy git, all we have done by not signing these players is shown that we are better than them and they aren't good enough for LFC, because if they were, we would have bent over backwards to sign them. Do we really want to be signing players that Newcastle and Sunderland would buy? I don't know anyone who knows someone but in my personal opinion I think we are going for higher calibre targets than everyone seems to think, because the fact is Liverpool football club want to win the premier league, f**k all this noise about 4th place being realistic that is pessimistic and you might as well go and support Spurs or Villa or another middle of the road club if you believe we won't be serious contenders for the title next season.

MORE...
How well are Liverpool doing in the transfer window so far?
After the disastrous and debt-ridden reign of Hicks and Gillett which took Liverpool to the brink of administration, FSG's revolution and the changes that have come with it have been largely welcomed by the club's supporters not least the decision to install club legend Kenny Dalglish as caretaker manager.

The populist choice was vindicated last season as Dalglish helped Liverpool pick up 33 points from 18 games.

Central to the 'Dalglish bounce' were the performances - and goals - of Raul Meireles. With Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard suffering an injury-hit season, the midfielder signed from Porto for £10.7m in August - formed a solid partnership with Lucas Leiva providing energy and steel in midfield.

During one purple patch, he scored five goals in six games - including the winner in a memorable victory at Stamford Bridge in February. And amidst fears that Liverpool lack the wide men to provide the crosses for £35m striker Andy Carroll, it was Meireles who found the head of the big Geordie helping him notch his second goal for the club in a stunning win against Manchester City.

In the second half of the season Meireles demonstrated both his quality and versatility for Liverpool.

His PFA Fans' Player of the Year award at the end of the season showed how appreciated he was by Liverpool fans who are not afraid to demonstrate their collective power in online forums and polls.

It is of little wonder then, that reports that Meireles could be heading for the exit door this summer, have been met with incredulity.

How could last season's Mr Dependable become expendable? Why would Liverpool want to sell one of their best performers of the previous season? A player known for his exemplary attitude and quiet life off the pitch.

RAUL RULES Meireles' goal run

Jan 16, 2011: 2-2 v Everton (h)
Meireles opens the scoring with the first Anfield goal of the Dalglish era

Jan 22: 3-0 v Wolves (a)
Meireles makes it 2-0 early in the second half with an outrageous volley

Feb 2: 2-0 v Stoke (h)
A 47th-minute strike in front of the Kop set up a hard-earned win

Feb 6: 1-0 v Chelsea (a)
The build-up was all about Fernando Torres, but Meireles stole the show

Money - as is often the case - lies at the heart of this problem. Liverpool's new owners have balked at the number of under-performing players close to the age of 30 on high wages whom they are now struggling to find buyers for.

Yet Raul Meireles cannot be described as one of these high-earning bench warmers. Meireles is believed to pocket around £35,000-a-week at Anfield - a modest sum compared to what his less than successful teammates earn. Joe Cole, Milan Jovanovic, Paul Konchesky, and Christian Poulsen earn significantly more than Meireles - and between them they made just 38 starts for Liverpool last season - just six more than the Portuguese midfielder's total of 32.

It is understood that when Meireles signed for Liverpool he had a loose agreement that, should his first season go well, he would get a pay rise - taking him to at least £65,000 a week. Despite the fans' award, the accolades and the key role in Dalglish's side, FSG are believed to be reluctant to grant a 28 year-old player with little sell on value the rise he expects.

Furthermore, Dalglish seemingly cannot see a place in his first team for Meireles next season. With Gerrard raring to go after an extended period on the sidelines, plus new acquisition Jordan Henderson and the incoming Charlie Adam all vying for places with work horses Lucas and Jay Spearing (not to mention the currently unsellable Alberto Aquilani and Christian Poulsen) - Meireles has been deemed the odd man out.

Yet it hard to conceive how the 21-year-old Henderson, a player who has shown promise but is very much a work in progress, would offer more to the team than Meireles, an experienced international who has played at the top level for both Portugal and Porto.

Moreover, Charlie Adam may have had a sensational season for Blackpool, but there remain serious questions about his mental strength and capability to perform at a top club stemming from his time at Rangers.

"For Liverpool fans it all seems painfully familiar. In 2008 the popular, likeable and classy Xabi Alonso was informed by manager Rafa Benitez that he was surplus to requirements."

For Liverpool fans it all seems painfully familiar. In 2008 the popular, likeable and classy Xabi Alonso was informed by manager Rafa Benitez that he was surplus to requirements. The Spanish manager made a not-very-secret bid to sign Gareth Barry as Alonso's replacement but the two clubs failed to agree a price for the England man. It was the footballing equivalent of wanting to trade in your Lexus for a Volvo. The seeds of Alonso's departure were sown that summer and the terrace-favourite left for Real Madrid the following year hastening Liverpool's slide out of the top four.

Meireles may not be in Alonso's league - but he's not far off. Liverpool fans have gone into this summer salivating at the prospect of new signings to excite much like the acquisition of Luis Suarez did in January.But expecting the likes of Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson to take Liverpool to that 'next level' and help break the Premier League curse requires a leap of faith from supporters.

Fortunately Kenny Dalglish can rely on a bigger abundance of faith from his fans than most in the game.'In Kenny We Trust' say a growing number of ardent Liverpool supporters - many of whom remember when he fashioned a cluster of modestly-priced players such as Steve McMahon, Ronnie Whelan and Ray Houghton into one of the most formidable midfield units in English football.

But if Meireles is sold it will smack of a business decision rather than a footballing one. Few will argue against the importance of making sound business decisions in Liverpool's new era - particularly after the money-borrowing madness of Hicks & Gillett.

But at Liverpool where a player is embraced by the fans if they work hard, keep the ball and show a willingness to play for the team (the odd long range screamer also helps), even the most vaunted manager of all will need to justify selling a Kop favourite like Meireles.

Wayne Bridge? That is a disgrace I have been patient but sort it out KK {Ed005's Note - Did Dalglish confirm interest? Just paper talk.}

28 Jun 2011 21:13:22
I think we will look at milner or johnsonnpersonally i see milner 4 kk hard worker an does have great quality on crossing perfect 4 carrol also can play most positions in midfield good buy for 20 mil

28 Jun 2011 21:07:30
I really don't think we "missed out" on conner wickham. The fee is not so huge considering what we paid for Henderson and what we were willing to pay for jones.
So I really think we chose not to pursue the lad. If we were willing to meet his valuation, there is no doubt he would choose us - kk obviously doesn't think the deal/player is right for lfc. Also if arsenal or spurs were really that interested as reported- they too I'm sure could afford sunder lands package.

I think Adam is being so strongly pursued by kenny because for the reported transfer fee - there is no one who can pass the ball with his quality for such a low fee. A similar player abroad would cost 5-6 mil more and they won't have perm experience. Diego is no way an alternative for adam's position as he can't play centre mid in the premiership.

The downing signing is about paying the money and finally getting a proper proven winger. No more 2nd or 3rd choices to play wide like pennant, riera, kuyt, Gonzales , Bellamy and the list goes on. He will be a top player for lfc IMO

Dalglish is not convinced about Wickham hence not challenging Sunderland for him.

28 Jun 2011 21:03:54
Whats going on conner wickham seems to b sunderland bound Eigher we are setting our sights higher an going big when the international window opens or we are missing all our targets which does'nt give us much exectation for the coming season? I trust kk but i hope there will b something to smile about soon....

I really think that people should stop panicking. liverpool have always worked behind closed doors and whatever transfer targets we apparently missed out on prabobly arnt our targets at all but just press talk.I do know that our owners are prepared to invest a lot of money in our targets and that is to improve the team, not just average players. We will for a fact sign players and very good ones. Just because it seems like there is no activity doesnt mean we arnt working on deals.We dont want any rival team knowing what are targets are do we? Expect great news once july comes as most of our buys will be foreign players.

28 Jun 2011 20:53:35
Im gonna get shot down for saying this but here goes, what makes everyone think that liverpool are going back to their old ways so to speak as in buying players just cos the king is there, weve lost wickham for one, the problem we have and i hope im wrong but Comolli...what has he done, spurs have improved since he left...i for one dont trust the guy and dont think hes right for our club. as i say im here to be shot down but its my opinion.

28 Jun 2011 20:53:01
Wickham has the potential to be a major player of the future but with little U21 experience and a limited professional career and CV there is no way he is currently worth the money being touted. That money could be spent much better elsewhere on the continent.

If Wickham does come to Anfield then I'll be happy, if he doesn't I won't be too bothered either, as he is a way of setting the PL alight in my opinion.

People are making me laugh on ere saying OMG wickams going to the suns for a medical and how it's another target gone spend a thought if he was a target then we would ov signed him and there's still a chance but and here's my point we would ov signed him and some on ere would ov moaned kk signed another with potential we need proven world class now blahh blahh how fickle some fans are.

28 Jun 2011 20:51:56
Not being funny or anything, but if charlie adam only has 12 months left on his contract, and if he really wants to come to LFC, and if oyston really is ignoring our offers......? why doesnt he just buy out his remaining contract ? I dont know how much he is on at blackpool....maybe £15K a week ? {Ed001's Note - because he is not eligible to do so due to being under the age of 28.}

28 Jun 2011 20:49:22
I don't understand, why we are letting Sunderland out bid us, what's wrong, are we waiting for him to have a good season so we can buy him for 35 million next season. Damien Comolli pull your finger out and do some work.

28 Jun 2011 20:49:05
Wickham wants to play for liverpool if im correct , isnt that the transfer policy this year? to sign players with a passion for liverpool , why are we waiting why are we letting sunderland get him?

28 Jun 2011 20:48:29
With Wickham going to sunderland i guess alot of negative posts to come, however be realistic here are some harsh facts we are up against.
1. man city, man unted, arsenal, chelsea all have champions league to offer a player, we dont.
2. chelsea, man city, man utd seem to have more money to spend than we do.
3. arsenal, chelsea are in london more favourable location to live for alot of foreign players.
4. no european competition at all at lfc
5. next season the top 4 cannot all play are poorly as last season.

therefore be realistic there will be no marquee signings just good solid proven premiership players who are the right age to both get better but also have a good resale value.

once we get back into top 4 and have a bigger ground then start to see us compete for the neymar, mata, aguero etc of the world.

still very positive about next season as we already have an excellent squad with right attitude and work ethic which kk and steve clarke will continue to improve them.
BUT PLEASE AT THI POINT IN TIME BE REALISTIC

Wickham to Sunderland ed? Another one gets away?

Tom

{Ed006's Note - So it seems}

He may be the next big thing but not worth the money, unproven at a high level, I for one am not upset with this news.

28 Jun 2011 20:40:44
If wickham was that good he would have gone to a top 6 team not to a bottom 6.... Have faith, don't take rumours too serious.. And if we sign too many players how are the promising youngsters going to get there chance, if we didn't get injuries last season would we have seen Flanagan, Kelly etc.. Great crop coming through but they need room to get through

28 Jun 2011 20:40:16
im sick of being linked with midfield players, about 60 up till now, we need a left back a center back, at least 1 proper winger, and a keeper, lets not lose track of the facts or reality lads, bob paisleys skids

28 Jun 2011 20:35:43
Is it just me or is everyone losing faith already are targets seem to be getting snapped up and we aint doin anything?WHATS GOIN ON AT ALL??

28 Jun 2011 20:33:54
WTF is wrong with some people. Kenny not up for the job, my arse sunshine. Did you not see how well our team played under KK towards the end of last season. He wants players who want to wear the shirt and not just receive a salary. All of these negative people have got there own website to stay on whether it bitters, scum or whoever. Just do one

If we were really after Wickham, he wouldn't be going to Sunderland. End of story. We haven't "lost out" on him. I have a feeling that Kenny hopes that some of our youngsters (Ngoo, Morgan) have similar potential and won't cost a dime.

28 Jun 2011 20:31:34
I think LFC are trying to conclude most, if not all of their deals by the end of the second week in July. International transfer window is not even open yet and Kenny has only just got back from his holiday (which doesn't mean that talks have not been ongoing) - Stay calm and keep the faith...remember the clamour to get KK back in charge? The least we can do is give him the chance to sign the players he thinks are going to improve the team and the squad - players who want to play for the badge not the money.

LFC Pedro.

28 Jun 2011 20:31:08
really can't see why we spent 20m on Henderson , we are already strong in centre mid and still being linked with c adam ??

money should have been used on a left back , centre back , 2 wingers and a forward

stop pissing money up the wall kk

28 Jun 2011 20:24:59
Not a rumour but would people please stop just cutting and pasting stuff from other websites and posting them as rumours - BORING I don't mind speculation, genuine rumours or even wind-ups from idiots like that Man City bloke, but please stop it with the copying of wholesale paragraphs from websites

eds fught wickham was dead cert for us, ssn say medical 2mz at sunderland after they bid in excess of £8m wots goin on we can pay £16m for henderson but crnt match the sunderland bid, im fed up wit us getting outbid on players 1st jones, young and now wickham {Ed001's Note - no, we said if we move for him he is certain to join, it seems we are not moving for him though. Ipswich have tried hard to stir up an auction for his services, but so far it is not happening.}

28 Jun 2011 20:22:18
Kenny needs to hurry up and bid for wickham before hes goes sunderland

28 Jun 2011 20:21:26
With the ongoing Whickham situation as it is, is it likely we will turn our attentions to Nolan Roux? Were we even interested before?

28 Jun 2011 20:17:34
Hi Ed's,

Looking at Henderson etc... do we really know what KK wants to improve his team - I know all us Football Managers do but if we look at it potentially Kuyt and Hohnson can play right mid (also Henderson); so do we know the types of players we want? (positions)?

Also what is happening to Ngog I was lead to believe he was a makeweight in the henderson deal - any news?

Also any other known outs - I know we need a few

Thanks

Hoola {Ed001's Note - we also have Gerrard who is class on the right. I believe the left side is the priority, along with central midfield and centre back. Ngog is just unwilling to accept less than 40k a week, personally I think he is undeserving of 4k yet. We have lots of players we would like to get off the wage bill, but, like Ngog and Poulsen, they are not willing to take a pay cut for regular football. It is a shame that they put greed above pride in themselves.}

28 Jun 2011 20:16:55
Sanchez has supposedly said 'It's Barcalona or I stay at Udinese'... Surely that means Man City will chase after Juan Mata? No? Therefore meaning will have to settle for placing a big for Adam Johnson. Don't get me wrong Adam Johnson is a top quality player, but I feel we deserve better and Juan Mata falls in that category. Ed's... Could you shed some light on this? {Ed001's Note - personally I think Adam Johnson is the best of the old fashioned left wingers.}

28 Jun 2011 20:20:23
Who is this Paul Thompson guy and why does everyone quote him??

{Ed006's Note - He is a guy on twitter who posts things about Liverpool.}

28 Jun 2011 20:20:14
why are we not asking to talk to Connor Wickham when sunderland have arranged too??

28 Jun 2011 20:10:41
wickham having a medical at sunderland tomorrow thats another traget gone starting to think this so called list of the same players every one keeps puting up are all wrong and forgive me eds but i dont think you really no whats going on when every one thinks one thing the club seem to do somethink different just my opinion.

Deano {Ed001's Note - you are entitled to your opinion mate, especially as it is only what I have been saying all along. Nothing is coming from Liverpool, so I can only find out some deals from the other end, as much luck as anything due to knowing the right people at other clubs. But I can't get anything from within Liverpool itself and anyone who says they can is lying unless they are involved in the decision making process!}

Last week, no one on here was talking about Lavezzi, but all of a sudden it's in the papers & people are saying there heard from"sources"..... STOP the bull peeps. LFC keeping their business quiet & will report news when there's something to report. The amount of times I've seen in the next 24/48 hrs... Bull****
ONLY player we have had contact with, which has come directly from the horses mouth is Adam. All the rest is here-say.

are we signing crouchie back ? why is his best goals on liverpools homepage ? surely there is something happening

28 Jun 2011 20:08:56
Well it looks like Sunderland have Connor Wickham all done and dusted with a medical tomorrow, just announced on ssn now. It always seem to me that it takes Liverpool a long time to tie up deals, the charlie adam deal is becoming silly now.

hi all
this is fact with so much bs going on who we will sign or wont one thing is 100% is who ever we end with will be an improvement on some of the players that have been lucky to grace anfield over the years
rebuilding takes time not over nite keep the faith in the king all will come good in the end your thoughts please eds

Hi all. Can the people who are complaining about our transfer targets. By the way we had no info from the club about who they are. Can you stop moaning. It could be alot worse by having rafa or roy back in charge. Just wait and see who KK pulls out of the bag? Thats my rant of the day over. Cant wait for the season to start again. warr68

It's time people woke up to reality.
We not the club we used to be.
Our standing has taken a massive hit for some years, the last two particularly more damaging.

After 2008/09, we should have kicked on. Investment in two top class additions on top of Johnson and Xabi replacement and we well could've won no. 19.
But Mortimer and Randolf did what they know best and Rafa made a cock-up of replacing Alonso.

From there on everything went downhill. We lost our best player; players became frustrated, disillusioned and restless; relationships became strained; performances got abysmal with each game; we reached double figures on matches lost, and ended up finishing an appalling 7th.

Off went Benitez and Mascherano and in came Hodgson, Poulsen, Konchesky, Cole and Meireles.
A summer of major downgrading.
Restlessness, disillusionment and frustration were the order of the day.

This only intensified, what with a quarter into the season Britain's most decorated club was hopelessly languishing in the relegation zone.
The whole was getting darker, wider and more deep with no light in sight.

We was wobbling from humiliation to humaliation until Roy Hodgson and most crucially, we fans, were finally put out of our misery.

All this while United were walking their way to the title and journeying to Wembley for the Champions League final with some good performances.

Arsenal also were in the mix of things: challenging for the PL, pulling some good showings in the CL, even beating Barca at the Emirates.

Chelsea as well were, though rather late, up there, pushing United in the league and Europe.

Basically, Arsenal, United and Chelsea were in the mix, fighting it out. In the big time in the spotlight; being watched; being noticed; and probably being admired.

Where were we? Oh, we were in midtable, digging ourselves outta a massive s**thole.
We was battling, battling for fifth... Europa League.

We were irrelevant to the big time, out on our bikes riding we way in and around obscurity, far and out from the spotlight, the stage, the big table, no notice.

Champions League.
Arsenal vs Barca:- the world over was watching, and the players were "I'd love and want to be part of that."
United vs Chelsea:- world over was watching. Players went "That's the stage."

United vs Barca, Wembley
the world was watching. Players: "Now that's the stuff a player's dream is made of."

Where are we? Nowhere.
Irrelevant to the big time.

That's been the case, gentlemen. We've been irrelevant.
So it flabbergasts me that people expect to have the same lure as those othe three clubs.

And FSG and Kenny aren't going to change that, at least anytime soon.
We'll first have to re-establish ourselves as credible challengers.
This should be done by preferably a top three finish after a sustained assault at the title.

Whatever your feelings towards him, Torres was right. Three years ago we were flying, but the past two years we been crawling.

So any expectation that "big name" players are gonna come running to us is misguided.
Neven Subotic-- after he was linked-- asked: "why should he leave Dortmund for Liverpool."
To be honest, why would he?

It hates, yes, but it's true. Expectations are rather unjustifiably high.
The only result foreseeable from this are fans who will be angry at the manager, DoF and the owners when/if none of the expected "big name" players arrive, as some of us expect.

Some knives are seemingly already out for Kenny regarding the imminent signings of Downing and Adam.
Sad, really.
As things stand; as we are where we are, these players are very much relevant, like it or not.

I'd suggest people abandon whatever grand expectations (re transfer) they may have until perhaps end of next season, when we'll hopefully be back in the CL and have re-establish our credibility as challengers.

Assume we get mata and one other marquee signing. Please don't come on this site to say we will walk the title next year. Others will strengthen as well, so it will be just as tough, have patience and be realistic, this is a work in progress. Rome was not built in one day.

Kenny is a product of the Famous Liverpool Boot Room which had bled into them the ability to spot young talent before anybody else something that started with The Great one Himself Sir Shankley.He passed it down the line Paisley, Fagan, Daglish and its refreshing to see the old ways have returned. Forget Comolli he can look at all the stats he wants, on paper from my sunday league season i scored more and created more than messi last season so am I worth 100 mil. Its the passion raw talent and wanting to play for the badge kenny is looking for, Not a wage and a stepping stone to supposedly greater things like some previous young foreign imports have used us as.( By the way how many foreign players have gone onto better things after us and how many miss the place when they leave. I know more that still come back and follow us than have had better careers) I would trust the manager who has played at the highest level with some of the greatest players in the team he loves, and was taught by the greatest club managers of all timeover a hyped up college boy with a posh football title.
Who ever we sign or don't sign I believe the future is a golden sky.

I think we should not worry about the lack of transfer activity at the club.We should wait till 1st july and if there are less than 2 signings till 15th july then the real worry starts.But I am sure that will not happen and we will sign at least 2 players till 15th july.What's your opinion ed.

{Ed006's Note - I trust the King. Everyone has their opinion but I think we will sign someone soon.}

Im sick of liverpool going after average players, over the years the majority of players being brought in to anfield are average players in the middle/end of their carrers who liverpool overpaid for and end up being sold withina few years.(with exception to a few). why do the manegment at liverpool feel this need to waste so much money. its ridiculous. but going after adam, 27 or downing, whos never lived up to the hype surrronding him. its led us to have no depth which is a factor in liverpools slide from the top 4. now that were not in europe we cant attract any top players because the top clubs always go after them. Ed are you certain that downing is a top target? For all we know there could be other wingers eg Hazzard or adam johnson that we are just as interested in. I wonder if we are stalling on downing as he is not our first choice and we are seeing if others will come first. I think that just because we are bidding for downing people assume he is our top target but infact we will probably bid for back-up players as well incase first choice fall through. Just wondering what you thought ed? {Ed001's Note - I think it is more likely that Villa are stalling because they have no one to replace him, especially as Young has already left.}

Hey Ed, addicted as ever, great site would love to know if we are going to do anything about Connor Wickham, as now SSN have confirmed Sunderland have put a bid in of above 8 million pound for the young ipswhich striker. Do you know if we are going to re-act? please reply Ed {Ed001's Note - I think we are unlikely to move for him myself, Ipswich are clearly looking to stir up an auction, I just can't see us getting involved.}

We are in trouble. Bad signings already and with downing/adam and dann suggested, things arent going to get better. Kenny is living off past glories and his choice in players when he was at Newcastle and Celtic should concern everyone. not taking into account the amount of money spent on henderson and carroll, these guys are simply not good enough. end of. Sick of hearing 'kenny knows best' or 'have faith with kk' rubbish. He is out his depth. Some of yous need to take the blinkers off and see exactly what is happening

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

THANK GOD i'm not the only one. Been saying for months that everyone needs to realise that Kenny isnt always right, love the man but people do need to wake up and stop putting all their faith in him.

JP {Ed001's Note - you two need to open your eyes and try learning about football. Get off FM11 and FIFA and try watching and getting involved in real football. Then you might understand that Kenny has forgotten far more than you will ever know. I have far more faith in his judgement than I will ever have in either of yours.}

Do you know of any team that is showing an intrest in Souleymane Coulibaly the u17 ivory coast forward. Showing good performances in the world cup. Do you think Liverpool would be interested in this player.
Great site

Anyone else getting fed up of moaning so called liverpool fans about the likes of ADAM/DOWNING/DANN and slating CARROLL before he has had a full season with us.
Food for thought.
We dont have CL football
OK the above arent champmanageresque signings but all were outstanding for their clubs last season adam - consistent for a poor club. watched him pass man utd off the park fantastic passer of the ball
downing - villas best player last season. consistent, never moans and according to brad friedel model professional
3. Dann (when fit) was brums best defender and you could argue brum would have stayed up if he had been fit at the end of the season.
I for one think carroll (on condition KK brings in the right players to provide ammo and trust him he will) will score 20 plus next season.
Everyone calm down its not even july 1st yet. We will get the right players I think alot of you are looking across the M62 at our rivals and having a panic attack

Am I the only 1 who is genuinly excited about next season regardless of who we bring in. Whether we sign a host of euro superstars, a bunch of average prem stars, or some of the yobs playing on stanley park.
I cannot wait just because I know if I played for liverpool and had the legend that is King Kenny managing me I would give 120% every week just like we did for most of the games from Jan onwards regardless of who was playing injured and otherwise. You never know who comes in could be exceptional or a flop thats the joy of football it's unpredictable and i wouldn't want it any other way. All these saying Adam Downing etc can't make the step up, Does that mean a certain number 9 can only play in under under achieveing sides(athletico madrid included) cos thats whats being said about these players were looking at.He was ace for us ace for athletico and a side challenging for honours hes looked out of place. Would Adam/Downing be the same I don't think so. So all I can say is bring on the next season wheter we get Adam, Mata, Messi or some joe blogs scrote from the local sunday league. I knowKenny will inspire the team he has and play the game the way it should be played and like the last few months of the season Joe Average player will giv it all and play with the pride the badge deserves. Bring on Sunderland i'm counting down the days........

Downing to be bought at the age of 26 sterling will be filtered into the side over the years and by the time he is 21 downing will be 30 and more or less out the side in my opinion I think kk is going to filter through the talent we have already at are disposal. Everyones banging on about mata we don't need him sterling and suso are better n just need time which kk knows

Hey everyone I have a great source for transfer rumours my pet octopus. My octopus (Oscar) is a direct decendent of the one and only Paul who shot to stardom when predicting the winners of games in the world cup. Oscar's hereditary speaks for itself and it made me think maybe he can predict transfers......after placing the pictures of transfer targets at the bottom of his tank it became clear that he has absolutely no idea like the rest of us Let's just enjoy the ride and trust KK.

All the best

Personally i'm delighted that Sunderland have shown their hand with Wickham now - if we really are interested in the lad then we'll have to move now
Wonder does this also mean that Sunderland will not complete the signing of David N'gog?
Things are about to hot up i predict (not that it'd take a rocket scientist to figure that one out lol).

Some posters have been bashing Eds about their sources, now i can see both sides of the argument, Eds say it would be foolish to reveal sources, never be told again and posters want substantiated, valid points from both sides, so there for you have the argument of Eds haven't a clue what's goin nor does any one else, but I see it from a different way, perhaps Eds have very good sources, but given the change in management and way business is conducted, perhaps the Eds sources aren't get as much info as they used to.I am not having a pop at either Eds or posters, just trying to offer a balanced argument

On a side note Eds, of the 5684 players we are allegedly interested in, who do you think would represent the best quality and value for money?

Rebel_Red {Ed001's Note - the thing is mate, I have openly said many a time that I am getting nothing from inside the club any more, so why are people having a dig about it? They seem to forget that there are other ways to get info. Personally I have given up on trying to keep track of the players we are linked with, I feel Kenny's judgement is far better than mine!}

28 Jun 2011 17:27:16
Ed you said earlier that normally with a player of mata's ability you would say liverpool have no chance but with mata we do. Well i don't think mata is a player too good for liverpool and infact he is not as good a player as suarez who we signed in january when the club were in a worse state. I think maybe we should be a bit more optimistic, players like mata should be thrilled to play for liverpool and if they aren't then move onto players that are eg suarez and turan. Just wondering your thoughts ed? {Ed001's Note - the difference is that Mata has clubs like Barca interested, Suarez didn't.}

28 Jun 2011 19:26:01
If we get Mata to sign, then that alongside Carroll and suares is THREE top players signed in just 6 mths at a cost of around £80m......and another 16m spent on a player for the long term future We wet our pants with joy when we spent 30m on torres and babel and yet here we are dwarfing those figures and yet people are still whingeing. P.s. We have never been promised a 'MARQUEE' signing or a 'HUGE' surprise by anyone at the club....So lets not bandy that phrase around as its getting annoying. We need a more dependable squad and we need it now to grab 4th place back at the very least. We nerd to hit the ground running so players who can produce week in week out are needed. Players like downing will give us that concistency we need for the job at hand. Im not expecting to be wowed by our signings.....just our brand of football. Bring on the new season and our new start COV RED

28 Jun 2011 19:26:00
I personally would like to see lennon, downing or johnson (prefer johnson), adams and micah richards. All british players. If ya look back on what dalglish had back in the eighties, the likes of houghton, aldridge, mcmahon, barnes, gillespie, vennison and yes even that mediocre striker ian rush (lol). I know it was 25 years ago but hey, i reckon kk will get us back to glory days.

Great site Eds

To bring everything back into some sort of perspective, everyone needs to STOP and remember that after Kennys arrival Liverpools performance to the end of the season would have put us in 2nd place. Kenny is a JEDI master and will work his magic on the new troops and the existing players. He is a born winner, and has been since he was a young boy growing up on the streets of Glasgow. His football skills are legendary. He was a world class and gifted footballer and can still show the young lads a trick or two on the training ground.

He commands unique and massive respect with both the players and the supporters and his work on behalf of the Hillsboro 96 and their families is the stuff of folklore to LFC supporters.

He is now back where he belongs and will do EVERYTHING in his power to make our wonderful football club a huge success again.

Please have faith in his unique talents as a footballer and motivation skills as man manager......if anyone can get liverpool back to where we belong its Kenny.

To succeed, he needs all our support and help, not statements like ' I trust in Kenny, but why did he buy x or y?....or why isnt he interested in such a body ......etc'.

Faith is not a part time hobby............you either have it or you dont. If your a true LFC supporter then get behind Kenny and SUPPORT him. He will sweat blood for LFC if it helps to make us a world force again.....but he cant do it with our support and understanding

Getting rather pissed off with people on this site. Wtfk do people think they know? Nothing is the answer. Kenny and the French t@&t will sign who ever they want to sign. We would all love messi, alonso, neymar, hazard etc but we are not on LMA manager now. The international Market isn't open yet and people are fretting over signings. Even if we don't agree on actual signings get behind them and see how they go. If they don't work out it's up to kenny to explain why. Now come on let's get behind everyone and stop moaning

28 Jun 2011 18:49:58
lets get behind our manager aswell as new n current players fellow reds. whoever comes in will no from day one what is expected from them thanks to our dedicated manager n staff. we all think we no best but we are the ones sat at home infront of our computer/laptop/phone getting paid nothing, ranting on to sign these so called superstars from england and abroad, whilst our scouting network are working very hard on each player they scout meaning they no alot more than us about every player mentioned on this site.
looking forward to the new season big time

A little message to people slagging the young lad Henderson off , he is only 20 and last year only 4 players created more passed goalscoring chances (82) than him...and one of them was another possible target of ours Downing with (85). Also Downing put the 2nd most crosses into the box last season over 420.
So if like Torres you believe King Kenny is not moving in the right direction with Liverpool...you too know what you can do

I am puzzled by some posters referring to smokescreens during transfers ?

How can Liverpool be putting up smokescreens if they have not made any statements about any of the targets they are chasing ?

How often does the media actually get it right before a player signs for a club anyway ?

Kenny Dalglish said "There will be nothing to tell...until we have something to tell"

I heard him say it....

28 Jun 2011 18:21:27
Evening eds , everyone .just starting to get concerned by the lack of transfers .read something kenny said at the end of the season saying he wanted the transfers done early in the window, and all the names we've been linked with are having bids put to them by other teams . feel we could miss the boat here but not sure why is funds or maybe wages cheers psv

28 Jun 2011 17:57:07
I think that if we signed diego it would be a good addition to the squad. He is a talented and creative flair player, we have only suarez really who is a flair player. People will point to discpline problems but that's all down to his relationship with magath and I'm sure kk would sort that our. So what's the reason for not buying him? Only 10m and if you think he would be a problem at lfc then you don't have much faith in kennys management skills.

Also its very amusing how many people have posted 'keep the faith' and 'trust kk' over last couple weeks and say they will stand by any dalglish signing coz 'he knows best' and then instantly say bridge isn't good enough. If kenny buys him then I thought we were meant to trust his judgement?

Juan Manuel Mata has admitted he will not be playing for Arsenal next season.
The Gunners had submitted a bid in the excess of 18m pounds in the last few days which was met with a blunt refusal.
Reports suggest the move will not happen due to Juan Mata wanting to win trophies

hi all
ive just read a comment on the veiws of a few liverpool fans on twitter, one really stood out & when you think about it this is very true, " liverpool will not do any better next year than this, liverpool will buy average to good players while the top teams will buy good to world class players & this is how liverpool have lost so much ground"
i think this comment hits the nail on the head & with the targets we are being linked with this is working out to be true, our targets are not good enough & liverpool will struggle to get into the top 4 next year.

DC is currently focusing on trying to find buyers for Ngog, Aqualani, Poulsen, Konchesky, Jovanovic, El Zhar and Cole so we might see some outgoings soon but other than possibly Adam, no further signings are scheduled to be bid for until at least the 1st week of August so everyone needs to chill out and wait.

Diego will not leave German club Wolfsburg in the summer, the player's father has revealed.

The Brazilian midfielder has been strongly linked with the exit door at Wolfsburg after a troublesome season with the Bundesliga club, which culminated with the player refusing to start the final league match on the bench.

However, Djair da Cunha, who also acts as Diego's agent, has played down the incident and stressed the former Juventus man will remain at the Weserstadion.

"Diego will stay at Wolfsburg. He will fly to Germany on Monday, " the player's father is quoted as saying by newspaper Folha.

"[The incident] is a thing of the past. It is just like a couple's quarrel."

Diego, who signed for Wolfsburg for 15 million [£13m], has been linked with a move to Botafogo, but the player's representative has underlined that going home is out of the question.

"At the moment, we are not thinking about returning to the Brazilian football. We have a goal of continuing in Europe for a long time, " Cunha added.

Mata bidding war is drawing close.

Arsenal to start off with an bid in the region of £18m which will be rejected.

Expect Liverpool and Chelsea to make follow up bids in the region of £20m, again, to be rejected.

I think Valencia will try and hold out for at least £25m and that will probably be met by either Real/Barca or Man City if they don't get Sanchez.

Why do people care about July 1st?

The only deadline that matters is Aug 31st.

As long as we have strengthened by then it doesn't matter.

Yes pre-season signings are ideal, but I would rather sign quality late than not at all.

Did it matter to Suarez form that he didn't have pre-season at Liverpool? He seemed to fit in pretty well to me

Good things come to those who wait.

28 Jun 2011 16:01:11
I'm sick to death of reading, Henderson, Adam and downing are not good enough for our great club. Fans need to start seeing the bigger picture. Adam would be a good signing and would replace the likes of poulson, downing would be fantastic as we have no wingers, he is also a fantastic crosser which is what we need to feed Andy, who cares if he ain't a dribbler, we play pass and move football. Andy might of cost us 35 mill but this guy will score us important goals which in time will pay for its self. Henderson has massive potential and will prove to be massive for us in the future. Everyone slaging our players and potential signings need to have patience and support our managment team. Your not playing fifa11 now this is real life football and in the king I trust. Let's get being are team coz next year we will be playing CL football and will look to improve our team once again and will be competing for the title. Remember since KK took over we were 2nd in points with some average players, let the king work his magic and let's start acting like the famous, loyal fans we are

Liverpool fans (including me) need to stop being so demanding, just because the Mancs have wasted some money on a winger they don't need and another young defender who has 3 players ahead of him in the pecking order and a keeper who isn't proven at all doesn't mean that we should throw £20million at downing and £13 million at Adam just to prove a point and feel good. Most of you are very impatient and expect Kenny and DC to have signed 5 players by July, when in actual fact we may only sign 5 players by September. We will never have "good" owners if we don't give them the time they need to assess what options are best and spend THEIR money wisely - just because you support Liverpool FC doesn't mean you choose the players - you should support the team whoever we buy and leave the owners and staff to their job

On ESPN they say that our search for a left back is over as we are about to sign Wayne Bridge.
KB {Ed002's Note - Scarey or what. I have to be honest and say that this would worry me.}

Only good thing Wayne Bridge will bring to Anfield is potential visits from his Mrs and the rest of the Saturdays.... Oh and it'll make any meeting with Chelsea even tastier

This may well prove to be irrelevant but, if wickham goes to sunderland, we miss out on a striker who i believe is decent and plays in a position that needs strengthning; payed for by money from us, for henderson, who plays in a position that we are overloaded, and quite well off in. Makes no sense to me. I'm neither judging henderson or wickam, just seems we are looking at the wrong areas.

Im starting to feel this is gonna be a waste of millions on the transfers. We are loosing targets. We are surposed to be titlecontenders, not midtable-fighters. Players seemed to be/or is lost. Perotti, Payet, Marveaux, Young, Mata, Santi Cazorla, Eljero Elia, Johnson.....
And what comes in. Hendersen.... overpriced.too many midfielders, but may have good future.Adam probably 12 M...Overpriced.Downing is a deesent signing but dont think he as title-material. Nolan Roux, Wayne Bridge... C'MON, we got better than this. Need some good signings

The fact that the Adam and Downing deals are dragging on just shows how shallow their clubs are, why keep a player who does not want to be there and play for your club. Liverpool showed the way it should be done with the Torres transfer, as soon as he delared he wanted to go , he was shipped out and has not been missed since. So I suggest to the people in power at Blackpool and Villa to let your man go and and on with preps for the new season as they just dont want to play for you any more, end of {Ed009's Note - then again we got offered 50 million for Torres, our valuation - would we have let him leave for 30?}

Ed after much following of this website i am afraid to say that neither of the editors have a clue of who is coming and leaving liverpool.

very entertaining site though

It looks like some fans pressed panic button already. I agree with some of them but not their panic. But one thing is sure. Supporting Liverpool is a very tough and pain staking job, especially at this time of the year. I for one dont think we will have a bad summer but these 2 upcoming months will test our patience and nerve. But i'm sure kenny will ot let us down. I really hoped when rick parry i kicked out we will be more aggressive but the donkey comoli is simply a pain in the arse. He did his same tricks in january when everyone associated with the club know we need a srtiker and he bought suarez on deadline day. I for one will not be surprised if Reina leaves the club on Aug 30 and Moniseur comoli buy balckburn Young GK for 35 mil and say " he ticks all the boxes."

Every LFC fan or supporter, depend how you look at it are entiltled to their opinions on KK transfer policy or lack of it, my opinion is yes i would like more activity but as KK has said we wont find out till the deal is done simples, and i am only going to judge at the end of the season then we can say if he was right or wrong but for me I happy just to have the liverpool way back and we can build from there.

28 Jun 2011 14:52:33
In reply to Ed002, I played at all levels including old 4th division and we never had reduced wages, still have mates in the game and no one is on reduced salary through the summer.
What does happen is that clubs try and leave signing new players as long as possible, so they don't have to pay extra salaries though the summer. {Ed002's Note - Sure. But I could name you a number of clubs who work the other way.}

28 Jun 2011 14:49:57
Getting fed up with people speculating about transfers . No one has a clue who Liverpool are signing this summer apart from kenny and Comolli . All the talk about mata , Adam , downing , Lennon . It's all speculation and I doubt neither of them will be signed . If Liverpool are signing players such as downing and Adam then it's just a backwards step .

Can I just ask the ED's what their background is to have all this knowledge on what and who is coming and going? Being a massive cynic, I like to know what I'm reading is relatively sound information. I'm very excited about our summer signings but seriously surely only DC and KK and The Board know who our targets are and the 'Liverpool Way' as such is to go about this quietly and the first we will hear is when SS News breaks the story.
I work at a Formby Hall Golf Club and all the Alonso stuff was rubbish, it was a rumour started by some div in the restaurant when a helicopter landed on a rainy Sunday. KK plays there sometimes although his club is Hillside. Stevie G is a member BUT when i ask him he never knows. We have many ex LFC players there all the time but even these guys never know anything because they DON'T need to know.
One of our maintenance guys is Scott Dann's first cousin and he doesn't even know what Scott is up to and they speak regularly. So in short i'd love to know how you get your information if current players, ex players and immediate relatives don't know.

Liverpool to resign Pegguy Arphexad, Vegard Heggem, Bjorn Torne Kvarme, Ronnie Rosenthal and some fat bloke called Ron who drinks in our local.
Boooooooom {Ed002's Note - The eds all have different backgrounds and some are in a position to provide some detailed and accurate responses and some will primarily moderate the forums - so there is no simple answer that will satisfy you I suspect.}

Remember in dalglish we trust. Dont know what others think but didnt see Carroll or Henderson coming was out of the blue and I expect the same with further signings, like the way business is being kept secretive within the club although its fairly annoying as I like other reds want to know whats going on. I see and expect that alot of rumours on here are just that apart from the fairly obvious targets. Looking forward to July 1st and expecting some more surprises though and just to say fellow reds keep faith in the king when has he ever let us down? I don't know one club that reduces the players salary during the summer, you sign a contract with a weekly wage and then bonuses for appearances,

There's an awful lot of negative feeling on this site at the moment. I for one am perfectly happy with how things are going under the new owners/management. We're paying "over-the-odds" for players now because the market is heading that way, i'd suggest it's teams just going a bit mental before the financial fair play rules kick in for real. We are paying "over-the-odds" for british players because they will adjust to our game faster than others. Liverpool have never exactly been forthcoming about their transfer targets and i'm almost certain there will some surprises come the start of the season (although god knows who, it seems like we've been linked to just about everyone recently).

Also, i'm not sure why everyone has this idea we need an entirely new team for next season. We finished under KK with top of the table form, a few smart signings to compliment what we already have and we'll be golden. Finally, with regards to the "deadwood" it's not as easy as simply putting a player up for sale and someone coming in with an offer. Certain players wages are so high that we literally couldn't give them away at the moment, we would be forced to give them large settlements for them to take paycuts and it's almost certainly better to just just keep hold of them if it's going to cost the same.

Oh and a rumour, Eds to sign for Liverpool on the wing. Young, quick and renowned for their ability to beat their man.

Ben JFT96 {Ed002's Note - That'll be the other Eds not me. I am way too old for running about now.}

I am a Man city fan but don't mind liverpool and hope and think you will do well this season.

Will be good to see liverpool finishing top 4 again.

i would just say though that the standard of players such as adam and dann aren't good enough to furfill these ambitions.

28 Jun 2011 14:06:28
Don't be surprised to see Meireles stay and Adam not come. KK, DC and FSG are starting to realise that it would be a bad move selling Meireles because of the fan backlash and whilst they were looking to get about £18m for him, the prices being thrown around are closer to £13m.With the Adam price not coming down to a region Liverpool think is reasonable (£6-8m), KK and DC do not think it would be worth selling Meireles for transfer funds as it would only give them and extra £5m to play with. And with interest from many EPL sides for Adam growing (Man Utd, Spurs, Newcastle, Villa and surprisingly Arsenal), the asking price is not likely to go down.

I don't think liverpool should pay over the odd's for Wickam or adams, if these players really want to play for the Mighty Reds without getting greedy then they will sign soon. If they don't then forget them as they not worth inflated fees.

IMO these are the players Liverpool should seriously consider bringing to Liverpool.

Diego
Mata
Cavani
Clichy
Bale
Rodwell

These signing would pot us in contention for the title next season. {Ed001's Note - Bale? Oh come on, he is extremely average.}

Greetings pop pickers,
I would like to say a few words to calm our worried readers. Especially those of younger, more tender years who cannot understand, in this age of instant news, super-fast broadband and phones etc, all this 'delay' in the transfer market.

1. The transfer market runs (approx) from 1 June to 31 August. This is a total of 91 x days.
Out of those 91 x days, the 28th day is upon us.
That's not even a third so far ;

2. From the above 91 x days, 62 x days are given over to the International Transfer Market, starting at 01 July. Currently no days of this time has yet expired ;

3. Look at some of the history of Kenny's buys as a manager at Liverpool. Do a little research.
I, however, will summarise some of his bigger signings (although please note that this was before a time limit was imposed as a transfer window) :
Steve McMahon, signed 12th September
Peter Beardsley, signed 14th July
Barry Venison, signed 31st July
Steve Staunton, signed 02nd September
John Aldridge, signed 27th January
Ray Houghton, signed 19th October
Ian Rush, re-signed 18th August
Ronny Rosenthal, signed 29th June
There are also others signed in the month of January eg David Speedie, Jamie Redknapp, Jimmy Carter

4. The notable exceptions to the above list were
Glenn Hysen, signed 01 June
John Barnes, signed 09th June

5. In summary, does this info tell you anything ?
It should tell you that Kenny would put LFC at the forefront of everyone and everything in football - agents, media, greedy players.
Have a little patience, forget Utd and the attention-grabbing headlines to sucker you into paying your 50p for a rag. Please wait and see what happens.
Many thanks for your time,
The Real KB

I'm sick of reading lies, on twitter, in the paper and on SSN. Lets face it, none of us know whats going to happen, this site is used for speculation and nothing else. Macca does have his sources but what he gets told and gets passed on is not gospel. Only LFC know what will happen. It is up to us to get behind them and be patient. By the way, we have signed Charlie Adam about 6 times now and its just getting boring reading the same thing over and over.

Oyston doesnt want to sell to us, the only way we can finish the deal is if Adam put in a transfer request or goes on strike. I'd like Mata to come, who wouldnt, I just can't see it now.

We all play Football Manager at times but no one knows who we will sign.

Hey ed, any word on outgoing players? I am not even worried with incoming ones, would just like to see the wage-drainers removed from the squad ASAP.

Hi Guys tried on a couple of occasions to get posted without success.

{Ed002's Note - Why say that. At least 90% of posts get through. If you have had posts rejected in the past it would typically be due the them being rubbish or foul mouthed. As such, statements like this just lead the Eds to see it as more rubbish - and can easily lead them to be deleted.}

Here goes..
I appreciate that its not really a rumour but..
We wont be buying many players in this close season.
I genuinely believe that we have decent squad that needs managing better, KK will do that.
We do need a centre half if not two
People keep saying Dann for the Greek but he's signed an extension to his contract so he's here for longer worse luck.
If we could add genuine width then great.
We have goalscoring options , we have decent full back cover and we have more than enough midfield cover.I would also like a more creative player in the middle but at best thats perhaps two signings, one CB and one wide man. Adam may come Adam may not, if hes genuinely keen then he sticks in a request and calls their bluff.
I have followed the redboys since i was 11 watching them win 3.1 v Sheff Utd on boxing day 71'.
I love em but we wont be winning the league any time soon so lets not build ourselves up for a fall.
We need top 4 but thats not easy with City, Chelsea Utd and Spurs here.
A cup and its a turning point this year. Then we will see.

All, first time poster, long time reader.

Just wanted to add my tuppence worth re Charlie Adam, alot of mixed views on him....believe me Adam is a class act, i want hime to sign more than any player we have been linked with.

Also, talk of Aaron Lennon should the Downing deal fall through, id want them both.

A CB, Adam, Downing, Lennon and a quality striker (my choice, Llorente) and we will be fine.

My opinion

Ed? {Ed001's Note - I would rather not buy a right winger than buy Lennon, it is like playing a man down having him lumping it into the stands everytime he gets in position to put a cross in.}

Sigh No new transfers.....hmmmmmmpf

28 Jun 2011 12:51:47
Ed001, here's one for you mate. Stoke have made a £16m bid for Jerome & Dann, whilst Sunderland have made a £13m bid for Wickham, firstly the prices seem pretty inflated, do you think this is because of the 9+9 homegrown ruling Blatter wants to install by 2012/13 season? Secondly is Dann to replace Shawcross or Huth that have both been linked to your club?

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - yes and yes but I believe Huth wants a return to London and Spurs have bid for him, rather than either moving to Liverpool.}

Im just glad Blacklool went down now, Oysten is a w___er. Adam should tell him hes going on strike for 12 months then come to us on the free and f_ck him off. Excuse the language Eds but its really annoying me. He wants to play for us so let him. {Ed001's Note - I can't comment on this sorry, but I am sure that will tell you something.}

Has Adam put a transfer request in? Just wondering..... {Ed001's Note - he has requested a transfer yes.}

Ed can you please tell most of these idiots that the International transfer window hasn't opened yet. Yes they can have personal agreements before that but they can be broken as they have been in the past and that could waste time on getting an actual player.

Ed, it not really about Liverpool but Santos has confirmed that five clubs (Barca, Real, Man City, Chelsea and Makhachkala) have met Neymar's release clause of 45million (£40.3million) and they have been given permission to talk with the Brazilian. Just out of interest, do you think he is worth that price-tag and who is favourite to sign him at the moment?

Thanks Wheeler92 {Ed001's Note - from what I have seen he is a real talent but not sure he is worth that much. Favourites would be Chelsea in my opinion.}

28 Jun 2011 12:21:05
Ed001, seeing as sly sports are reporting no bids, and you say and i've no reason to disbelive you, that Oyston his not answering his phone. Why is the news of this not reported ? That Liverpool and Spurs have been enquiring for a while , but Oyston is refusing to answer her phone the little bitch that she is ? Do we not wanna upset em more by reporting the reality of the situation ? Jonson6 {Ed001's Note - we are doing everything behind closed doors as much as possible and in a professional manner. Revealing details would destroy that professionalism.}

Sc*m U (man u) are having no problems, so why are we. Look like we will never get our title back. Please someone tell me. Do you even think we will sign now ed? {Ed001's Note - I don't know Karl Oyston well enough to know for sure, but my opinion is that he will just carry on being a brat and refuse to sell to us. Purely because he knows that is the move that Charlie wants and it is him he is trying to get back at.} why does he want to get back at him?

{Ed006's Note - Different ed but I believe Adam took Blackpool to court as they owed him money on a bonus that was in his contract.}

28 Jun 2011 11:54:04
It makes me anxious watching Man Utd making all these signings, why we stall and wait. They have already got the wheels in motion for International transfers such as De Gea. This could go one of two ways; our rivals strengthen, we lose out on some of our targets to them then hesitate and panic buy or sign average 'English' players, OR, we are doing what we do best thinking long and hard and targeting only the very best in what KK believes to quality players to enhance our charge to the top of the premier league. I really do hope it's the latter, I don't like sitting back and watching every player were linked with being snapped up by other clubs.

Fire in your belly comes from pride and passion in wearing the red shirt :)

(love the site ed's)

just a comment on everyones impatience RE: lack of transfers.
Ideally, we would have made all our major signings before pre-season, give the team time to gel and the like, but we do not have that luxury. I know it has been stated several times that lack of champions league football might be key to not landing players, and instead having to sell the vision, the knock on effect of which is waiting.
I'm one hundred percent certain that if Adam and Downing were top of our list we would have had them by now and so I can only assume KK- in his wisdom- is waiting to see if the money cant be used better elsewhere. This means biding your time, waiting to see who becomes available. For example, if city land sanchez, barcelona land fabregas, madrid land neymar, chelsea land modric/bale, then mata's options are diminished slightly and the chances of us getting him for less money becomes greatly in our favour.(i know you will all argue that they play different positions but financial's×cales etc become factors)
would you rather we signed no one this month and then signed mata in august?
If there is movement with meireles leaving i see an 'official' bid being launched for adam immediately. But there is no sense in replacing a position that hasn't been vacated yet.
I see the transfers dragging into the end of july, beginning of august unless the unimaginable happens and we get rid of all our fringe players soon and the need to fill the squad beomes urgent.

ins. (july)
clichy
adam(depending on meireles/aquqman)

outs.(july)
j.cole
Maxi
ngog
poulsen
konchesky

ins.(before end of transfer window)
milner or johnson-downing if these dont look feasable.
turan
jarvis(p/e with konc maybe-good for bench)
cudiccini-the not quite good enough keeper who is happy to sit on the bench.
one of scott dann, roger johnson, steven taylor, james collins(unless agger goes in which case expect two)

I really like daniel sturridge and refuse to believe we are not considering a bid for him IMO he is the most naturally gifted of the young england potentials.

any deal for Mata will run close to the end of transfer window.

Why are people worrying already about who, or more to the point, who we haven t yet signed? I think we should reserve all comments till 1st September.

I wouldn t expect anything to seriously start happening till end of July. I understand people s impatience; sure, I want to see good players come in too. But we have to trust, for the first time in at least 5 years, the club know what they are doing and are doing everything they can to improve.

People are questioning the interest in Adam and Downing etc. Saying they just aren t good enough. Come on, do you really think Kenny would be interested in them if they really weren t good enough or that he didn t feel they would significantly improve the squad. Surely he has pretty good judgment? 99.9% of fans wanted Kenny back in charge so surely we should all trust him to do the right things. Is he really going to make signings that makes the Liverpool he loves worse?

And who s not to say that Downing under Kenny and playing along side much better players won t step it up to the next level. It s about how influential the new signings will be on the Liverpool team and we won t know that until Kenny gets to work with them and they play for us.

So relax, there s 2 months of transfer window left and all real Liverpool fans trust Kenny, don t they?

Mata is 10 times the player than the players with the grit and steel you mentioned. Even in character. Even workaholic as Kuyt. If we don't go for Mata we will be having problems creating constant threat from the flanks. We will be just the same ol' Liverpool in terms of wings. Downing isn't even fit to lace his shoes. Stupid comment

ed, Are we going to sign any world class players this summer coz the best player weve been linked with is mata and it does'nt look like hes coming now. The likes of Adam and Downing, there good players but are they good enough Liverpool FC {Ed001's Note - why don't you just accept that Kenny knows better than you what he needs to make the club great again?}

Fellow reds. Lets calm the situation down around the transfers at our club. Firstly, panicking isn't going to get us anymore players. We have waited for kk to become manager once again for so long and now it has happened. Let's trust kk, i am sure you will all agree that we couldn't have anyone else who we could say had the clubs interest at heart.
What do people expect, kk to put his list of targets and dates on sites like this? Sure that would help our club Ask yourself one question, will you support the club still at the end of the transfer window? Of course you will or your not a fan of our club. Be patient and what will be will be. Were are lfc and we will rise again.
Sorry for the rant ed's but I've been reading the posts for the last few weeks whilst biting my lip.

Just read the the most scary rumour yet on footybunker that we are interested in Wayne Bridge for LB and it sent a shiver down my spine.
I hope that this is tripe because he is terrible Remeber watching MOTD so many weekends where he was at fault for teams scoring against WH. Awefull player.

I thought this was a 'rumours' site, not a 'ask the Ed's when Mata, Downing and Adam will sign' site.
Come on people, we all know that these are all possible, can't we just wait and see now. Also, if its been reported on SSN then take it as a given that we all know about it. Lets get back to the rumours

"Bob ..but its all about value for money? can you tell me the point of spending 16m on Henderson ..Now , about jonny european / south american :
With every player there is a risk a certain Cole comes to mind, and a lot of our imports have shown resilience, Kuyt will go on and on from august till May , Lucas does not shy away with what ever little he can contribute and Suarez already shown cold weather does nt matter to him ...
I understand KK and the club cant wait , next year is vital we are in the top 4, but will someone like Adam gives us that little extra .. I cannot see it, I am most likely blind but I am not the only one.
Roy"

Roy, the issue with foreign players is too hit and miss. If you start rummaging around the bargain basement bucket, like rafa did then the ratio of failure to success is going to be a little high. There is no guarantee that if you dip your toe in at the top table and buy players of that ilk that they will be all be a success. However the margin for success does get bigger.

The same is said about British players, however the success ratio is far higher and therefore you get a little bit more of the 'ronseal does what it says on the tin' guarantee, however the downside is the ridiculous mark up price on British players to British clubs, English especially.

And in that context you cannot compare what a club may pay for Juan Mata to what the club has paid for Jordan Henderson and a lot of people are making this comparision.

Yes we all know he perhaps isn't worth £16M, but really what are we basing this assumption on? If we wanted him and were prepared to pay what was required then there isn't an issue at the moment. We've paid over the top becuase Sunderland didn't want to sell, so market value went out of the window.

I wouldn't say you were wrong in your opinion, any player should polarise views, it's too what extent this takes. You could say if a particular player splits opinion that much, then he perhaps isn't the right choice for the club.

But Carroll, Henderson, Young, Downing, Enrique are all splitting views either in ability or price. The only one in recent times that isn't is Suarez and that's because he has obtained kudos on the pitch straight away.

Let's see how all our signings do and get together at Xmas?

The bottom line is nobody actually knows how good these players will be until you sign them and see how they fit with the rest of the team. Look at Robbie Keane and Joe Cole, everyone thought that they were great signings but for whatever reason it didn't work. I want Mata etc as much as the next man/woman but it has to be what the coaching staff think are best for the team. Look at where we were when KK took over. Trust in the King.

All quiet on the Macca front recently?

On the rumour front Adam will be done by Friday and Liverpool will move for Park Chu Young if Wickham goes to Sunderland

Wot is going on at Liverpool Patience is a virtue that I lack but Ssn have just reported that Blackpool say they have received no offers for Adam Eds any more info on this? By the way love the site and we should break the bank for mata the boy is pure class {Ed001's Note - nothing new, Oyston is still refusing to talk to anyone about Adam. He may as well be stood in the middle of his room with his fingers in his ears saying 'lalalalalala I can't hear you' over and over. He is just a little brat.}

hi eds how can people come on here an say we need more tough players i disagree completely liverpool have not have any real flair players since mcmannaman barnes beardsley i think we need more skillful wingers instead of kuyt that jus runs up an down gets a few goals we need players that set up the strikers and not rely on gerrard and suarez to do everything i would love mata adam downing perrotti cissicko and also a goalscoring centre back that can go up for corners an actually get a few goals.
let me know wat yous think

The fun thing about this transfer window is that everyone is slating KK and DC instead of really understanding what's happening around them. We sure have paid over the odds for Henderson but considering his potential and the scarcity of good english players, he might be a wonderful buy. We must also not forget that we bought Suarez in January, so big players might still be interested and we have already proven that we can spend money wisely on non-british players. Moreover we cant really condemn the potential signings of Adam and Downing until we see them play and I certainly believe that we wont be held to ransom over Downing. Another interesting fact is that KK seems to be building a really good team for domestic competitions but probably not good enough to win an european competition. But guess what, WE ARE NOT IN EUROPE NEXT YEAR Rebuilding a team requires several steps. Even City could not win immediately despite all the money they spent so let's not get ahead of ourselves. Title Challenge for 2012-2013 I believe.

Just from a personal perspective I see more promise and potential in connor wickham than I do in henderson. So if we were willing to be held ransom for henderson then we should for wickham as he also plays in a position that is more necessary than henderson. Hope we don't get beat to him by sunderland.

Another thing, will people stop posting shane long rumours, nobody outside of ireland thinks he is good enough for lfc.

i'll be interested to hear peoples thoughts on which redmen will be leaving this summer. It'd be a shame to lose Cole as the lad moved up here with good intentions but he can't cut it anymore. I think Joe needs to be in a team built round him and let him play the number 10 role. Hopefully then he may rediscover his confidence. I think if we're all honest it's not looking like it will click for him at Liverpool. Also, why is it folk want shut of Aurelio- he's class and should be kept on for competition with an incoming left back. Ed-do you know if King Kenny will be using Suso this season? Yours, randy watson {Ed001's Note - Suso will probably make a loan move, though it depends on this new next gen thing. If that is competitive enough there is no need to loan him out.}

28 Jun 2011 10:45:21
What about James Milner, he can play on wongs or midfied, more expensive than Charlie Adam but in my opinion much better, apparently 6 premier league clubs are after him anyway its realistic that we are one of them.

Disappointed that it seems likely that we have missed on wickham. Could easily have been ours, if we'd have showed some intent. He is gonna be a quality. can't believe we paid 35m for carroll and we didn't want to pay any good money for Wickham. Hope, he still comes to us. would love himin a liverpool shirt. 2-3 seasons and he'd be a great front man for any side in the premier league...

Ed,

What happened to Jose Enrique?

He was a nailed on incoming player and that too by Thompson.......

Somehow the news outside and the things happening inside Anfield are not synced at all......

I think even the newspapers are getting news from clubs for whose players we bid like Arsenal, Sunderlan, Ipswich, Blackpool, Aston Villa etc?

LiverBird {Ed001's Note - nothing happened, Thommo was just wrong and has made it impossible for us to buy Enrique without facing charges of tapping the lad up.}

Adam to liverpool for £8.3million with darby and shelvey going on loan to Blackpool. Enique and Downing deals looking close to being done. Park-chu -young of monaco to be brought in for £6million bringing up liverpools profile in asia. personally I'd love to see lennon and mata come to anfield and maybe shane long. outs may include maxi, cole, ngog, aurelio, poulson, jovenovic, konckesky, meirles, jones and kygriakos all high earners, aging or just usless.

28 Jun 2011 10:06:52
pls show this ed sounds like some liverpool fans are wanting every top player in the world but king kenny knows how to build a team that will play like a team and have great performances on the pitch it makes more sense to have a team of players playing for each other than individuals thats why torres was sold he was sulking and alot of the time he was trying to do it all on his own but as soon as he was gone we played better as a team. kenny wants to build a team that will grow as a team remember back when he bought ray houghton and nigel spackman and steve staunton and they werent regarded as world class players but improved under kenny and did very well we have to trust kenny things will be fine he will get liverpool back where they belong

I too am very disappointed with Kenny Daglish. He is a very good manager, and he is good for LFC. But I am sceptical about his transfer policy, and his past dealings. I remember when he was at Newcastle, and sold many of their best players which didn't do them any good. I just hope I'm wrong, and I know we have days left. But I just don't trust Kenny with Transfers. Ed please prove me wrong and tell me that we are being positive in dealings, and that more news is due.

28 Jun 2011 09:45:01
Right boys. Let's get one thing clear, almost none of you actually know how good any of these foreign players are. Everyone is shouting for Turan, Sissoko, Sakho and anyone who has a foreign name. You may have seen them in one or two games or even done some You Tube Scouting (on which even I could look quite good, Which I am if KK needs a tall striker :) But anyplayer can look good over a few games. What we need is players who are good over the season.

Anyone remember Reyes scoring for something like 13 games on the trot. what happened to him?

KK and DC will be assessing how they want the team to play and who can fit into that formation. Not trying to fit a square peg into a triangle shaped hole. We want players who fit us, we dont want to have to change to accomodate these players. I for one think Adam and Downing will improve us tenfold. Add Hendo to that and maybe another winger and a left back and I think we have the basis of a solid team.

The biggest issue for us is selling the deadwood. Which I personally think will be impossible 9at least selling the lot in one summer).

Stop moaning and wait and see what happens this summer. I have a sneaky feeling we will all be very exceited come May next year (hopefully top four with a title challenge and then win it the year after).

28 Jun 2011 09:28:33
Still need to shift a lot of dead wood, Cole, Ngog, Jovanavic, Poulson, Aquilani etc etc, Get what we can, Get them off the wage bill, Mata in would be Fab asset along with Adams and Dann. I'm told Warnock would walk back to Liverpool to re-sign.

28 Jun 2011 09:23:48
Conor Wickham is off to Sunderland, most likely- a bid of 13m has been tabled, with no response yet from Liverpool.

Hope this means that KK and DC are already looking elsewhere, because we still need another striker.

I know Kuyt is deadly from 18 inches out, but at 31 he's no longer a top-drawer striking option- for a top 4 place we need better attacking options.

28 Jun 2011 08:13:16
Why do you scousers keep on thinking you're getting adam johnson. He's one of our most liked and most promising players and we won't let him go even if we get sanchez, Milner will go first.

You're not even in Europe so get real and start linking yourselves to crap players like scott dann etc again

Posting in banter as I have no inside track and the media sources I have access to are the same as all the other posts so why duplicate

Anyway here is what I would like to see happen over the next month from Anfield:

Eric Lamela - top, top talent potentially open to a move now River Plate will be playing second tier football next season

Jose Angel - outstanding leftback at an unfashionable club who earned rave reviews in La Liga last year, he like Eric Lamela fits NESV profile to a tee

Juan Mata - AMC not LW - simply superb player and would be an instant Liverpool legend

Vargas - LW - unbelievable crosser of a ball, pacey wrong side of 25 but would immediately provide a massive upgrade in the attacking third

With Mata able to play CF if needed I don't think we need a replacement for Ngog

What to you think fellow posters?

As Macca said the reason why Man utd are getting our targets is because we went in first so they had to respond....so maybe we are now sitting back for a minute especially with KK just coming back, then with Arsenal making a move for Mata if we are interest we should see around a 22.5m bid put on the table unless...something has all ready been negotiated and no one knows about it. And is there substance in the "Clichy rejects arsenal contract" in the times...is it in the times?

Diego just said that he would love a dream move to the premier league.Could we have another Liverpool fan on our hands?
this is probably why we gave up on Ashley Young because it was clear that he was a man utd fan.
So if we do sign Diego and turan they will be some of the happiest men on the planet and this is what liverpool need to do more often make a bond with players thats why carra and stevie g are still here
So maybe sign a few more liverpool fans and then they can have motivation to get us back into ucl (uefa champions league) and then we can start dreaming
Eds what do you think about this {Ed009's Note - we made an enquiry for the player - who is on sale for just 10 million euros - and do appear to have interest in him, but at this moment in time that is all it is.}

28 Jun 2011 06:36:18
Supposedly arsenal are in talks with Gary Cahill and they are hoping to wrap it up by the end of the week. Sunderland has supposedly more or less signed Conor wickem as mm wouldn't meet the valuation. What's happening ed? Are all the clubs going to take our targets away ? I wouldn't be over the moon with Lennon by the way with downing I'd be slightly happier and Adam I'll be happy. I'm just trying to keep the faith in kk and dc {Ed009's Note - do that. Nobody knows the targets we are going for, so I doubt anyone is stealing them. Does Kenny look the type to mess around when there is work to be done?}

Hi
ED I hope you post this as this very important for my fellow reds to know.
People keep saying we will sign international players after 1st July when window opens I have got news for them we can sign and agree terms with club and player right now only they will be registered after July 1st and between 31st August.ex Sarin for RM and de gea for Man U.So please wake up. Now reason we have not signed any 1 from abroad are:
1. Players are on holiday so only verbal communication possible.
2. U 21 which has just finished.
3. Copa America
4. We are focusing on English signings right now so that they are available for pre season training.
5. We have the transfer funds ample of them but our wage bill is the problem we have to sell high earners so that we can buy quality high earners from abroad.

Regards
Red Indian
PS:Hope this helps others ED, what u think am I right? {Ed009's Note - to an extent - you can announce deals whenever you wish, but at the same time it is sometimes unwise to do so, in case of any unforeseen complications. Imagine if Liverpool finally had their 'marquee' signing announced, and then the sale couldn't go through...}

I was down the bottom of page 3 of the banter pages before I broke away for this post. LET ME SAY THIS. KK said AC was FT9 - 15M. If Judas was sold for 35M we'd have offered 20M for Carroll. We got 50M. Give the kid a chance. He didn't price himself. I personally look at a lot of games and enjoy watching K. Davies because it reminds me of old style football. AC is Kevin Davies x 5. Why?
left footed, more mobile, can play off an another striker, younger and is more prolific. Do we think he is another Rush, Aldridge or Toshack?. No, but he is a rare species. He gives us height, strength and toughness. That is something we've been lacking for ever. If AC doesn't score 15 league goals next season then I'll buy all the Ed's a pint. KK knows what he is doing. We'll be in a dogfight with Scun for the title with Citeh in 3rd.

I know this is not as relevant to the current topics but this is LFC. Support your own please. Y.N.W.A.

For all the people asking for opinions from the Ed's :
1) Don't ask if your gonna slate the Ed's for something you asked for, an opinion is the Ed's thoughts on something not the necessarily the truth.
2) The Ed's are the most 'in the know' people on this site and they try to keep us updated with all the info they have but some people just don't appreciate that. Those who don't should be ashamed
3) The Ed's don't have to do this for us They spend their time on this site to let us Liverpool fans know what's going on at the club and if they don't know something don't slate them.
4) And lastly, I love the Ed's and the work they do. I will never be against the Ed's as I respect them for their work and effort as this site would not be here without them. Ed's, you guys deserve a pat on the back, well done

I jsut dont want to give too much info but everyone is talking liverpool transfer. These are the players he mentioned that LFC are trying to buy. He doesn't know much of these players but mentioned that the people involved have much knowledge and he also mentioned that the company LFC are competing for champions league spot next season and are reqruiting yound talent with some experience in the squad. Players he mainly mentioned but said didn't know much about them are. charlie Adam, downing, and a defender who he didn't now who he was, but said they said he was from france. He also mentioned mata but he said they are asking too much, He mentioned 4 players but he is still being updated on the transfers.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish will be on alert after discovering Bundesliga target Michal Kadlec is open to a Premier League switch, with the Czech international insisting a move to Liverpool is a distinct possibility

Dalglish's scouting team were present at a Bayer Leverkusen fixture earlier in the season, with the target of their interest reported to be the impressive full-back. Liverpool have found themselves weakened in defence with injuries to Fabio Aurelio, Daniel Agger and Martin Kelly initiating something of a defensive crisis for Kenny Dalglish.

A particular area of concern is left-back, with Glen Johnson often forced to operate from an unfamiliar position due to the lack of left-sided options at Dalglish's disposal. Aurelio remains the Kop's only experienced left-back option after Paul Konchesky sealed a loan switch to Nottingham Forest in January.

With Liverpool evidently keen to strengthen in this position, Kadlec expressed his delight at being linked with such a major club, revealing he would be open to any offer made by the northwest club.

"To be connected with such a big club flatters me. Who would not be tempted to play in the Premier League?" Kadlec revealed.

"It is super for me when I heard that Liverpool have maybe heard of me, that I exist. We will see in the summer. There is a lot of speculation we will see in the summer what happens."

Kadlec has two years currently remaining on his contract at Bayer Leverkusen, though the club will look to offload some of their squad members is they cannot qualify for next season's Champions League.

"I know that they were present at our early season game against Dortmund, which we won 2-0, " Kadlec claimed about the Liverpool scouting rumours. "But I don't know whether there has been any progress since then."
Leverkusen currently occupy second position in the German Bundesliga, the final position that enables Champions League qualification.

i reckon this is who we could get as lb a solid international better than clichy or enrique.DORSET RED

Targets narrowed down in priority order.

GK - Don't really pay attention, I think Gulasci is going to be a good GK.

we should put a bid in for nani

I would be disgusted if that arrogant fool was signed by our club. We have far more class than to waste time on someone like that. It physically unsettles me to think of him in a Liverpool shirt. He is where he belongs in my opinion.

Players will not sign on the basis of being fans of the club, and players will not turn us down(Adam) purely because they are not a fan of LFC, professional footballers get their name due to the fact that they are "professional", they will weigh up all options and go where they think will best suit their career, if one of the clubs in the mix is the club they support it will have a very very minimal effect on their signing for that club. It's easy for us as supporters to say we'd only play for liverpool if we were in their position, but once these lads have a career in football their decisions are a little bit more thought out than that.

The Spanish outfit are set to find themselves shorn of their first-choice goalkeeper once David de Geacompletes his proposed move to Manchester United.

The youngster arrived in England on Monday to undergo a medical and is close to putting the finishing touches to a big-money transfer.

Speculation has already begun to circulate regarding who may be drafted in by Atletico as his replacement.

Liverpool shot-stopper Reina has been touted as a possible candidate, after spending the last six years away from his homeland.

The Reds ace has given short shrift to the rumours, though, by insisting that he remains fully committed to the Anfield cause.

He told La Gaceta: "I know Atletico are looking for a goalkeeper, but I won't be changing colours.

"I have a five-year contract and I'm happy at Liverpool."

Reina will come into direct competition with De Gea next season and he believes the 20-year-old will be a resounding success at Old Trafford.

He said: "I very much welcome this news because David is a great keeper.

"When it becomes official he is going to start working to prove in the Premier League what a good goalkeeper he is.

My favourite rumour of the day Especially because of what he says in 5th, 6th and 7th paragraphs - really brought a tear to my eye
