What the heck, BR on city's short list! He's only just got here. Argh! This is like a pantomime!

Oh no it isn't

If we ever won a reply of the year tournament, that was it

Spent late Saturday afternoon with an ex City and England player he is a massive fan of Rogers.

Quite frankly he knows more about the game than I will ever do need to know more?

C

Did you have a nice afternoon?

Oh, so it all pours out now, the love for brendan rodgers is spilling out onto these pages now.

The slightest hint he may be leaving and you all dive under the bed clothes and beg gfor forgiveness, say you loved him all along.

Somebody said on these forums months ago you all should be careful what you wish for, and no look what happens.

Throughout the whole campiagn a large proportionn of supporters and their shallow, narrow minded attitudes to the proggress made by rodgers have begged for his exit. And now you pretend you loved him all along?

At least now the majority of you will appreciate what we have. We play brilliant football, have a squad that is improving all the time, and we are so close to the champions league it is propostrous.

All factors considered brendan rodgers could have done a lot, lot worse based on our situation when he took over. He has done a stellar job and has restored pride and stability back to Liverpool football club.

Why would any of you want this progress to be undone and for us to start again when, if you open your eyes and see the bigger picture, progress is being made and things are going well!

I am still worried about the summer, though. No doubt brendan will make the right signings but I am not sure we will be given the money tomake the leap into europes elite. Ag the end of the day, we are Liverpool football club, and we should be given a lot of money to spend in our situation, particularly after this season.

Anonymous woolback

Dalglish restored Pride to our club, Dalglish won us a trophy. So not sure about this progress your talking about. It's amazing how many people will jump to rodgers defense but our greatest living player and manager got kicked to the curb.

Hey. Not fair.
I was singing his praises when I heard we were after him, and I am still singing them. We lose to Villa or put in a dodgy against Mansfield Town and i'm still over the moon that the owners went for him. We win at Newcastle or beat Spuds, i'm still happy.
It's obvious that i'm unhappy with a certain player. But, that is all.

Out of this player, and our manager, only one of them should be here next year. As for who WILL be here. I'm confident the manager will be here. it's not an issue as far as i'm concerned.

Red7.

Ok. I went off on one there. That wasn't meant to be aimed at you woolback. Well, not once I read the entire post.
Sorry for the backlash, the first few lines just made me think it was a post by one of the usual negatives.

Red7.

I agree 100% my friend!

The amount of abuse that Brendan has got has been beyond unbelievable and that's just the post that the eds have let through on the site!

There's even been Ed002 {Chelsea fan} having to tell 'fans' that they should support the manager and get behind the team. I'm also pretty sure that on occasion I've seen fans of other teams come on here and say the same!

Now Man City are on his case people are crying! Unbelievable!

29 Apr 2013 11:40:02
No one will cry for Rodgers neither man city will touch him, its a joke of the decade that a team like city would even think about a micky mouse manager, city will appoint a top manager who has ability to cope with pressure and bring trophs not a manager who has been kicked out by watford and reading, and have always have excuses then results, a micky mouse manager is ok for a team who dream finishing 7-8th but won't last even a second at clubs like city who are accepted challenging for trophys rather then excuses and mediocrity.

28 Apr 2013 22:19:05
Macca or ed, who else is on the shortlist for city job and how likely will Rodgers be their boss next yr? I personally hope this doesn't happen bcoz City will 99% have Suarez too next year!

wafa

How will they 99% have Suarez? Pure speculation!

28 Apr 2013 22:03:23
Big Andy Carroll's current form gives us a welcome opportunity to cash in on a player we paid £25m too much for. should we sell him for c£15m or use him to fill the gap created by King Luis's unfortunate absence?
Personally, I'd welcome the return of Andy Carroll till January 2014 but I don't control the purse-strings at Anfield!
Finance aside, Carroll offers something else up front. properly nurtured he could be our Ibrahimovic!?
Brendan Rodgers inherited a squad which included the worst of the Rafa and Hodgson reigns. and the best!
To his credit, Big Bren has not only bought wisely (Sturridge, Coutinho) but he's also getting the best out of Henderson, Downing, Enrique etc.
It's a learning curve for the Northern Irishman and he's having a baptism of of fire. Luis Suarez, limited funds, unlimited expectations and a media-base all too eager to kick us at any opportunity. But he's growing into the role well, isn't he?
Personally, I feel comfortable with Brendan at the helm. in a way I never felt under Roy or Kenny.
I feel as though we are assembling something for the future in a no-nonsense, professional way.
Back to Andy Carroll. despite what I think or want he'll be sold. Martin Skirtel will be sold because he's a headless chicken and one or two others will be ushered out the door.
Whatever his faults, Brendan Rodgers has been ruthless in his culling of a squad of players he inherited who just didn't cut it. None of the players he's replaced or cold-shouldering are good enough for this mighty Club. Cole, Kuuyt, Maxi, Spearing, Skrtel, Carroll, Coates, etc.
None of the above will win you titles.
None of the players Brendan doesn't favour would command a starting place in any half-decent title-challenging team.
The only reservations I have about Brendan Rodgers are his love of Shelvey, his Hodgson-esque defence of crappy performances and his deep-seated man-love of Jonjo Voldermort Shelvey.
He has other faults of course, but our current Manager has IMPROVED our squad. yes, improved.
Thanks largely to Rafa and Kenny, we have a good crop of youngsters waiting in the wings. Thanks to Brendan they'll get the chance to prove themselves. !
The perennial problem of "talent-discovery" will rear it's head again in the Summer. I've every faith that we won't be lumbered with Lionel Messi's wages. waster!
However, we COULD unearth another Coutinho or Sturridge or two. Who knows?
Roll on the good times!
ANFIELDPETE

Saying that Carroll could be our Ibra is crazy, there is no chance that Carroll will ever reach that level unfortunately. I would guess shelvey will be loaned out or sold in the summer, but there's something about the kid that makes me think he might become a very good player

The rest on the most part I agree with tho

29 Apr 2013 00:49:56
I agree with most of your post but not with kuyt involved for me he is a legend in a team that struggled but he always gave 100 % -SALLY-

Comparing Carroll with Ibrahimovic is like comparing chalk with cheese.

I quite like Jonjo as a player.
He's just got to keep his head together in the box. He'll be named "jigsaw" before too long.

He's a good passer and his vision is improving. Reign in his occasional brain explosions and he'll be a better defender too. He won't take much work as far as I can see.

I don't get that people think BR has done a bad job in the first place.

Objectives at start of season - slash wage bill, reduce average age of squad, impose new style of football on a squad of players who are all internationals while bringing through a crop of promising kids but managing them in a way that avoids burn out.

While doing all that make sure you challenge for the title and get to two Cup finals and sign Cavani will you. Obviously that last bit is what the muppets on this site thought was possible while doing the (extremely difficult) first part.

This squad is better than a lot of people think. We are short of 2 centre halves with the poise, pace and power required for the system/league (one a starter the other a strong back up) and a DM who can also operate as a deep-lying playmaker. Add Tom Ince to compete with Downing and some more kids for the Academy we will be able to improve on this year and challenge more strongly for top 4.

Congrats to Luis Suarez for making PFA team of the year, the man absolutely deserves to be in it on playing ability.

ChrisMiz

28 Apr 2013 21:48:47
My personal opinion. I do not claim to be a footballing expert, and I hope I am wrong.

I don't believe Suarez, Sturridge & Coutinho can all play in the same starting line up.

Coutinho is an absolute must, not out wide, through the middle. As the #10. Which leaves just one striker up top, and without doubt, Sturridge has the better attributes required to play that role.

This leaves me with the Suarez conundrum. I wouldn't want him out wide as he concedes possession far too often, which grinds my gears. No place up top or as the #10.

. To consider selling a player of Luis Suarez' ability and whole-hearted commitment is crazy! But, if he were to leave for £50m I wouldn't be 'that' disappointed.

That money could be invested in 2-3 players that fit the system, add real quality/depth that pushes us further.

Some of you may say I'm getting carried away with one performance v Newcastle. But honestly, when Rodgers joined back in the summer, I felt similar.

I disagree I think there all skilled enough to adapt if need be and its 3 out of 5 of our best players in my opinion:)

We would have been scored 10 goals against that Newcastle defence if suarez had played {Ed001's Note - the goals came from pace, Suarez doesn't have pace, so I don't see your reasoning at all.}

When Luis is in form, he's brilliant. When he's out of form. another story.
When a players form drops, like Allen, he's given some time to regain it, whether that be on the bench or the pitch. Luis cannot be benched, he gets too angry. Then, he plays, hurts the team by giving away possession and missing chances to play in other players in better positions than him. I've said this since he signed.
He needs mental help. When that's sorted, he can be benched when playing poorly and the team can prosper. At the moment, his attitude stinks. Call it "passion" all you like. But, his attitude changes, our performances change with it.

I'm with the OP. They shouldn't play together, Coutinho is a shoe-in, so Sturridge and Suarez must co-operate, or the childish one should f*** off. Sturridge has been very professional since his arrival, Luis has not. It's bad for the team.

We need all three - it's called a squad and if we want to compete next season we need quality backups or options in all depts!

NS

And you have based this on 1 game.

Disagree. Sturridge through middle, Suarez drifting wide to left and Coutinho as classic no 10. If you have Downing or Henderson balancing things up as a member of the midfield 3 you can be secure still with Coutinho dropping back into midfield to provide numbers when we lose it.

I'd like to see us get most of our transfer business done early this summer so we can plan ahead better.

Whoever it is we are looking at whether it be Honda, Alderweireld, Eriksen, Gaitan or whoever I'd rather we got the deals agreed with clubs and players by June to sign on July 1st.

This way we can concentrate on the second phase of moving on the players not wanted by the manager releasing further funds eventually.

In this bracket I expect Spearing, Pacheco, Coates, Skrtle and Downing to leave. Downing has done good this season, but I still think we should cash in on him this summer.
I also expect Carroll to go, but with only two clubs interested it seems a player plus cash deal would be the only option with W. Ham and Newcastle.

I'd also like to see Shelvey and possibly Suso loaned out for a season for vital experience. Teams like Cardiff, Hull or Wigan (barring relegation) would be a great fit for them.

Hi eds,
I was wondering could you give me any idea on the possiblity of these players in the summer window,
Senad Lulic
Chalobah
Luis Muriel
Tom Ince
Victor Wanyama
and Loic Remy,
cheers eds {Ed002's Note - Not good.}

I'm aware that this is not directly related to Liverpool, yet it does have teeth.

I suggest the critics of FSG's policies take a look at Steve Morgan, one of our own yet having a torrid time at Wolves.

What do you think?

Poor management or plain bad luck?

Either way, things could of been much worse.

In my opinion, we're still in great hands.

DaveyBootle

Really our you on some of the best mind altering products known to man?

I can only assume you are drinking Stella

C

They panicked and sacked Mick McCarthy. Stupid mistake compounded by getting in Solbaken.

Wouldn't blame Morgan, I think it's the fault of that CEO Jed Poxy (sp?) or whatever his name is.

Steve morgan can not be compared with lfc look at the position h and g started at euro final etc and where we are now and all the cash we have/waste wolves are not exactly rolling in it sad days when morgan was forced out of lfc he is a koppite.

Who are you like?

Has your Ma let you on the computer for the first time or has Ashworth hospital released you for a day?

Very good perf from LFC bar G. jonhson (1 match very very good then 10 match very average as he is very complacent and has poor decision making)
Now I understand the value of having downing in the team (he works very very hard). I know he is not the favorite of all, but if you analyse him well, he is carrying GJ, he is not playing freely upfront as he knows he has to cover for GJ (often lose the ball). hats off to BR for transforming him and Henderson also.

budashow

Spot on about downing and GJ, been saying that the past few months.

28 Apr 2013 20:30:24
Just like to say how good it is to have something resembling the old Pepe Reina back. Cool, calm, collected, sharp and focused.

Keep it up Pepe!

A bit too late though isn't it, if we want to compete then the players have to be 100 from the get go

If I am not mistaken Honda will be a free agent in summer. Has he been approached by Liverpool or an other club for a pre-contract agreement?

I may be wrong, but I believe that Honda's contract is from January-December kind of deal as opposed to June-May like it is here, because the Russian season runs differently. So, he'd be available on a pre-contract in the summer for his contract expiration in the following January.

I hope that even made sense!

Correct me if I'm wrong, eds.

ChrisMiz

Russian season runs more or less same as English. July - winter holidays - Season ends in May.

It has been Spring - summer - autumn before, but it has been changed. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very interested at one time but may have blown their chance of Honda in January 2011 when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. Last summer we saw enquiries for the player have been from Lazio, PSG, Sevilla and Palermo. It seems to be the longest running of the Liverpool (and Arsenal) related "rumours". Honda was close to leaving last summer with a move to Lazio only failing at the last minute and I understand that Lazio would still be interested at the right price. He has had a bit of a strange season in that he has been scoring goals but his performances have been criticised - which seems to have put off Dortmund who have taken a recent look. Valencia have shown interest recently and would like to have him sign a pre-contract in the summer but I imagine the player will wish to see what options are available. I am told that interest also remains from PSG, Fulham and what looks like his most probable destination right now, Everton.}

How robinson is doing at loan with wolves?
I expect reply from fans and eda.

28 Apr 2013 20:49:53
Well I live in wolverhampton and go to most home games as there my local team and he has showed a lot of aggression and great passion in his defending. Read the game quiet well in a struggling side. Got forward and supported well in attacks at times. The only problem is he seems to rush things and panic abit on the ball soo and can get caught out now and again but he is only like 19 still and I think would benefit from another year on loan. But signs are there of improvment in his defending side of his game

If the worst was to happen and we sold Suarez I think we should do the following.

Assuming that Skrtl and Coates are being sold that will add about another 15m to the kitty on top of £50m for Suarez and £20 there already, sell shelvey for £4m and Allen for £7m

That gives a total of £96m so. it's a bit fantasy league, but one can dream, so here goes.

£20m hummells (ok unrealistic but we need a good centre half and money no object. )
£30m Lukaku (won't get a sniff at Chelsea and he is a beast, still very unlikely, would love him up front with Sturridge with Coutinho pulling the strings )
£16m Mertens
£10m Siem de Jong
£10m Alerweireld
£10m Williams (good cover and replacement for Carragher )

That would immediately give us a stronger squad and make up for the loss of Suarez (potentially )

So if the worst did happen we can move on, at least this time it won't be a case of a player leaving us in the lurch (*cough* Torres), but one being hounded out by the press and the FA.

Your prices are wayward at best.

If the disagree button still existed,
You'd be getting plenty of kicks mate.

Papa G

Id like some of the signings you mentioned but lukaku for £30mill?
yes he's got potential and yes he's had a good season but it could end up like an big andy situation

Well if we are dreaming I think I have a more realistic dream

Suarez - 40mill, Skrtel 12mill, Shelvy 4mill, Coates 4mill, Caroll 15mill, Budget 20mill
total - 95mil

Sanchez 23mill, Jackson Martinez 17 mill, Alerweireld 8mill, Williams 10mill, Strootman 18mill, cover LB - 5mil

Total - 81 mill
14mill left with proven 5 talents

Reina

Johnson, Williams, Agger, Enrique
Strootman, Lucas, Gerrard
Sanchez, Martinez, Coutinio

Subs
GK, Alerweireld, Downing, Henderson, Allen, Kelly, Sterling, Sturridge, Suso, New LB,

Tell me know,
if this squad can't get into top 4.

A season or so ago I quite fancied Soldado, I still do, any chance Ed? {Ed002's Note - Sure. Lose a little weight, get a better diet to lose the spots, get some decent clothes then why not Chris.}

Ha ed :')

Very brave of you to come out of the closet Chris, well done :)

Red Lee

Chris you could pray to God!

Yeah thanks for that Ed, you're right about the weight though

Ed002 get's better and better.

28 Apr 2013 19:03:24
If there is any chance Rodgers moves on, it would be a chance to bring in the out going Munich coach and give him 5 years to overhaul the club top to bottom and install the German mentality.
Maybe we need to bring back Sami Hypia as his #2 in order that there is a connection between old and new.
He may be able to bring in a couple of Peps cast offs. {Ed002's Note - Looks like you nailed.}

28 Apr 2013 18:52:35
City please save us!

Amen to that Brother!

Ah why two everton fans on here getting worried that with another season of Rodgers we will be awsome

28 Apr 2013 18:44:25
If Rodgers did go to city who would you go after. It may not be a popular choice but I'd like rodolfo as coach of the first team with a director of football. Rodolfo would probably play a similar style and any team he touches turns to gold. He would also give the kids a chance.

I agree and I said rondo when Kenny left

Shaun

Yup Rodolfo for me as well or pay top, top dollar for Jurgen Klopp because if Klopp comes in then loosing Suarez wouldn't affect us, as we know he'd put that money to good use. perhaps bring in Marco Reus for only £25.5million (as his buyout clause is 30million euros)

Theres no way Rodgers will leave after just a season. However to play the game, I'd love Frank De Boer to be manage us one day

I'd be sorry to see BR go, he has got us scoring goals and playing football, he deserves another year and we have more points than last year too.

If he did go, if take heynckes, did a good job at Bayern and has a good reputation and profile.

28 Apr 2013 18:27:43
Let's hope Rodgers stays. For me given the time at Liverpool he will be a great manager. Some of our football under him is the best I have seen since Evans.

Couldn't agree more, sort out the defence and a little tweak out wide, say Dsudszak we will be right back where we belong.

28 Apr 2013 18:13:52
Some people are linking us with Jay Rodriguez and I can see why. He's got good pace and acceleration, decent control and can be lethal in front of goal. I like the lad, but at the same time a lot were dismissing Fabio Borini completely. For the life of me I couldn't and still can't understand why. Watching both play, they have distinct familiarities. Both are instinctive strikers, who play with clever pace and movement.

Right now Jay would cost at least £12 mil, when selling Borini would fetch around £6 mil. Surely it's wise to stick with BR's choice initially and trust in the player?

If any say I'm jumping on the Fabio bandwagon, then read some older posts. I've always supported him and think he's a great choice to have in our squad. He's been unlucky as has Allen (whose been hampered since November) and both will come good.

Papa G

28 Apr 2013 19:06:02
great post papa sometimes fans r too quick to write players off these days if sir Bob had have run rush outa Liverpool when he didn't start off well r trophy hall would have been a lot different in the 80s I say just trust managers judgement. Tommy Irish Red

I've not posted on this site for a long while but as Jay Rodriguez cropped up I thought I'd give you my view.
I know Jay personally having played with him as a youngster at Burnley Boys. In my opinion Jay is fantastic and you could tell when we were young he'd be brilliant but I don't see him as being a Liverpool player just yet anyway. I hope he stays at Southampton and carries on doing what he's doing.
I'd prefer to keep Borini and see how he goes on if he can keep some fitness. He took his goal brilliantly yesterday and maybe that'll give him confidence to kick on now.
Dale B

Appreciate the responses. I'm pleased for Jay too, seems a good honest lad and deserves the praise and possible call up (offers more than Welbeck in my opinion).

To me the same can be said for Borini. He's a good lad from what I've seen/read and has done well to bounce back from two lengthy setbacks. I'm re-watching the highlights and he was delighted to score yesterday. He's a striker not a winger (as is Sturridge). When played in the right position, or a confident team (remember his first spell was our worst of the season), he can shine for us. He's got lots of ability, just give the boy some time.

Papa G

Well Papa G, just interested in how you can put a price to a player who is not for sale?
It's like valuing Buckingham Palace and then deciding whether it has enough bedrooms for you!
If you tell the agents you can afford BP and it is just what you want, do you expect you will be able to buy it? Think you would get the same answer from both-don't waste your time on fantasies!

I wasn't indicating we should buy/sell if you read the post. It was hypothetical, but if you want my logic then it's this.

Borini has had a poor year in goals return, surely devaluing the fairly high price we paid (around £10 mil). We'd try to squeeze more if we sold, but can't see anyone going over £6 mil.

Rodriguez was signed from the championship for £7 mil. He's proved himself in the EPL, is young and Engliah and we always pay high. Southampton probably value him higher but £12 mil seems a fairly realistic figure IF (and it's hypothetical) they were to sell.

Does that suitable answer your condescending post?

Papa G

28 Apr 2013 17:56:18
With both QPR and Reading going down today, are there any potential targets within either club that we might be looking at? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

I'd have Samba and Remy. Not sure we could afford their wages though. Samba is a real leader.

Pompey Red

Samba is awful and the wages qpr are paying him are ridiculous only a fool would want him

28 Apr 2013 17:52:44
The only way I would let Rodgers go to City is if we could get Klopp. That is not going to happen and I therefore think it would be ridiculous to let him go, and tbh I don't think he would want to go anyway

Rodolfo Borrell but I reckon if city came calling BR would stick in my opinion.

28 Apr 2013 17:36:18
Expect Eriksen, Alderweireld, Ince and potentially Bruno Martins-Indi in the summer, and unless Suarez leaves then no striker through the door. Remy is simply MOTD fever and the fact that QPR have gone down and he has a relegation clause has every journalist jumping for their pen and pad. Should Suarez go then expect inquiries about Burak Yilmaz (Galatasary) or Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Shaktar Donetsk). Carroll, Wilson, Downing, Jones and Shelvey+Suso (loans) will leave the club.

I'm not sure about Ince, I would rather go after Dsudzsak. I do like Shelvey but he need's to play on loan at a lower side, maybe wigan if they stay up or even cardiff. On shelvey I see a bit of Scholes in him, loves to tackle but really can't.

Remy is a french international nothing to do with MOTD fever, it's just price and convenience that he is linked with LFC. Not forgetting that Roy Hodgson tried to sign him for LFC and Remy said he was very interested.

28 Apr 2013 17:33:28
I sincerely hope that Rodgers stays with us. I do believe that he is the man to lead us forward.

Cheers

28 Apr 2013 17:25:25
Might be a strange question, but in other posters opinions, who is a bigger legend between Dirk Kuyt and Fernando Torres. In my opinion it would be Kuyt as even though Torres scored more goals, Kuyt scored more important ones and scored in two finals. Would like to hear other opinions and this is without taking in to account Torres' move to Chelsea.
Cheers

The term Legend, would not apply to either of them, GET A GRIP.

Well neither are legends but kuyt was more of a cult hero. I don't think you can discount torres leaving i'm afraid if asked about legends. Torres was a better player though, no doubts.
derryred

28 Apr 2013 18:42:34
DIRK KUYT. the man never wanted to leave us. he gave 100 percent. he was one of those players who put his heart on his sleeve. he is anfield through and through. a future coach or manager 100 percent

None are legends but dirk is definitley the hero here! Love the guy never stopped and his hatrick against utd topped everything for me!

12reds

IMO dirk was LFC through and through and worked hard for the club
absolute LEGEND!

Kuyt. Always the man for the big game, European cup final, league cup final, derby, hattrick against united, last minute winners against united, and he loved the club. Torres was a moody toddler

All this manager talk. Really think u lot should get that Neil Lennon character. He would suit the Liverpool way- conspiracys and every1 against you's.

Perth!

What the hell are you talking about perth. pointless

Haha Perth is an person, he's an insult to United fans. Better to let him ramble on to himself so he can convince himself he has good banter when in actuality it's terrible.

Watching the dismal qpr, I think we could put double figures past them on the last day of the season. they were awful.

28 Apr 2013 17:04:17
I can't remember the last time I've rooted for a player to come good like I am with Borini. Fully understandable that people may think he was a bad purchase, but I think he has the propensity to be a great striker. Still young, did great at Roma, and you can tell he really wants it. Got my fingers crossed for him.

JFT 96

JP

JFT96 totally agree. When he first played his movement on and off caught my eye and he was able to fool defender to follow him and that created loads of chances for other players. Injuries can knock down even world class players and it was his season with new team and 2 long term injuries didn't help. He is better when played in central or right handed forward role then left where he was played most. He is learning his trade and bar injuries he will have great future regardless he stays with us or not. I hope he stays and if we can add missing cogs to what we already have then we can move forward next season and improve on our league position.

Hey eds has anyone heard anything about the left back from Spain coming for a trial at Liverpool? I believe his name is Dominico Gonzalez from Cadiz.

He's 16 so no immediate hopes of making an impact

We have been liked with Remy but I would much rather Lukaku or Benteke both young strong and got good feet. Also when qpr go down I would have a cheap checky bid for Granero very alonso like.

Deanalfie

Yeh i'd take benteke think lukaku may be overpriced for any move though otherwise I would

28 Apr 2013 14:51:26
Do you know what some of you guys are going to really regret the Rodgers bashing if he ends up going to city. We will get in another manager who will enforce a different style of play and want to sell certain players, and keep others. Another season to adapt, and another season of finishing around 7th. We should all be hoping he sticks with us for a long time to come. He will be the one to bring us success.

Completely agree if he goes ill actually be gutted

London red

28 Apr 2013 14:40:29
to Macca. you say he's on there short list. do you think with the extra funds and better chance of competing at the top of the league rogers would leave?, thanks in advance

28 Apr 2013 14:39:54
Radio 5 live have a special programme on luis Suarez @ 8 o'clock on Wednesday night. one of his old Ajax coaches told the story of Luis calling coach and speaking to the captain of Ajax in the dressing room minutes before a title deciding game even though he left in January to play for us as he still felt responsible for the team, shows how loyal he is, let's hope he proves it in the summer.

28 Apr 2013 14:39:11
I know we have before but LFC should step up their chase for Diame of WMFC. Is there any chance of trying to get him in this summer as he seems ready made natural long term replacement for Stevie G.

Fred

Agree I like the player but not stevie esque

Really?

How you can compare Gerrard to Diame I just don't know

28 Apr 2013 14:39:01
Rodgers to man city! that would be interesting to say the least

Cant really say that happening but Macca knows his stuff so if LFC were willing to let him go and I think we should not because I don't think he's done well but given his contract the compensation of 'selling' rodgers would be massive.

he hasn't convinced everyone and this might be a good move for both sides

Now we know FSG want a young manager so possible targets could be

Martin O'neil - hasn't a brilliant record but his celtic and villa contribution can't be overlooked especially with being a free agent

Michael Laudrup - talented young and like Rodgers done well however given the recent contract extension and links to Madrid might not want to come.

Roberto Martinez - Was on Shortlist when we looked at Rodgers great manager but questions are asked given the lack of progress at wigan despite avoiding relegation yearly

Steve Clarke - Former LFC employee has had an amazing season at west brom young and clearly talented

Rafa Benitez - Splits LFC fans down the middle with his tactics. Loves the club and would jump at the chance to come back However would the owners back another former LFC manager given the fact they already had the chance?

Eds pop a comment on this one would ya would rodgers reli leave to man city? who would we get anyone I've missed of

Anyone else losing the will to live?

DaveyBootle

I hope Rodgers does not leave as he has done a good job. We have played some brilliant football under him. I think our second half of the season has been good and a top 5 position has been out of reach due to the initial 6 games in the season.
please do not mention martin o neil in the list because he is one of the worst managers in the prem.

Sami hyppia anyone?

28 Apr 2013 17:20:03
You should check O'neil's age

Hounsred

We could just stick with one of the best young managers in Europe and stick to the plan of creating a young, vibrant side that will be together for years.

28 Apr 2013 14:17:49
Could Liverpool send Suarez abroad on a short term loan to keep his match fittness up while he's banned in the premier league? Or failing that, send him on long term loan with a loan termination clause in & bring him back as soon as the ban is over? {Ed002's Note - No, of course not.}

Could he play for our u21s? A couple of games to keep him match fit.

28 Apr 2013 13:58:12
Hi EDS
If Carroll goes then do you think Liverpool will look for another striker? I mean there Suarez (when back from ban), Sturridge, Borini so if he does go wouldn't it make sense for a younger player to come up, I don't know how well yesil has played but someone like him for instance? {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

28 Apr 2013 13:34:24
Afternoon Ed's just wondering if there has been any interest in Darren Bent at all?
He's scored everywhere he's been and I'm guessing Villa wouldn't be after a massive amount of money and he would take a pay cut for more playing time, so wouldn't take much of a chunk out of our budget.

Loafmaster Flex {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

28 Apr 2013 13:27:03
Rodgers has said he wants to add more goals.
I don't think there is a better place to look right now than Colombia. Of course there are a few which are off limits: Falcao. But perhaps one of: Luis Muriel, Jackson Martinez, James Rodriguez may be available.
Ed002, I think you maybe speculated that J Martinez may be available? {Ed002's Note - Muriel is in talks about a move elsewhere. Martinez and Rodriguez are available but Suarez would need to be sold to pay for one.}

What sort of fees are Porto looking for in regards to Jackson Martinez and James Rodriguez.

Thanks ed. {Ed002's Note - Lots, but I really don't want to get in to money as it causes so much confusion.}

28 Apr 2013 12:54:08
Wonderful performance yesterday to win 6-0 away from home at Premiership level is some feat.
Special mention for Sturridge for great centre forward play, Coutinho for great Brazillianesque no 10 play.
Henderson for typical English competive high energy play allied to intelligent movement.
And a special mention to all the posters screaming on here a few weeks ago about the quality of Newcastles scouting system compared to LFC, bet you feel a bit silly now:0)

You make such great predictions after just one game

Yeterdays match was not Newcastles true level and probably not LFC's either

Newcastle scouting department has done wonders on a small budet

You also lost 0-3 to Sunderland and are down the bottom of the league, hardly one game is it?

28 Apr 2013 12:50:05
that lukaku is a beast. would love him at the club

28 Apr 2013 12:39:12
Stats from this season (all comps):

Henderson: 26 starts, 6 goals, 6 assists
Wilshere: 26 starts, 2 goals, 4 assists
Cleverley: 39 starts, 4 goals, 5 assists

The numbers stand for themselves.

RedKopite

We are not seriously now saying that Henderson is better than Wilshere are we?

Ash

He is certainly no worse than Wilshere - not as fancy, but far more work, industry and end product.

John B

Henderson is definitely not better than Wilshere, but is streets ahead of Cleverley who only gets in the England squad because he plays for United, he is massively overrated.

Henderson is massively underrated. Shame BR favoured Allen over him. I have a major worry that next season will be the same
G

Look at the stats Ash that tells you he is :).

Wilshire, when fully fit, is the best English midfielder in the game.
The Juicer

The juicer. don't take the piss Steven gerrard is the best English midfielder by a country mile it will take Wilshire 10 years or more to be in the same breath as gerrard

Well done Henderson. Clearly underrated, goals win games so I'm glad he has added them to his game.
I wouldn't want to get into an argument over who is the best out of those 3 players but it's going to be interesting watching them all grow up and see who ends up the better player. Could be any three of them let's be honest.

MIKEY

Well based on his goals and assists he clearly is. Maybe someone should put up their pass and tackle success to help Ash make up his mind.

The Irish Rover

As a Liverpool fan I rate Henderson as a really important player. However at the minute jack wilshere is probably the best English player so even I must admit that.

28 Apr 2013 12:53:21
Macca left a post saying that rodgers is 100% on city's shortlist. think there's no way fsg will let him go.

Money!

They can have him. We will finish 7th this season. Are we happy with that considering the money he has spent to build on last year's team?
Although Coutinho was an excellent buy, Sturridge looks inconsistent, the rest have been poor.
G

G are you serious? Sturridge inconsistent? He's had injuries and he's still scored tons! Wow

The Man City board obviously see something some of our fans don't! Brendan won't be going though!

Whatever about Sturridge being inconsistent we could have scored more goals yesterday if he was not so greedy with the ball

28 Apr 2013 16:49:53
Think your all over thinking! Does B. R want to start again? He'll need time to change the style, just as he did with us. He won't get that with City!

When your on a hat trick you get a little greedy. You could also say Suarez is greedy but if you have two players in front of goal, you'd prefer the striker who is naturally a finisher, not one of midfielders who've missed a lot of good chances this season.

28 Apr 2013 12:22:40
Rumours today saying we are interested in Loic Remy and Arouna Kone. I think we should be aiming for players with a better calibre than this.

You only need 2 or 3 World Class players in any one team.
Remy and Kone are really good players that would improve the squad.

No they are not

Yes they are

No they are not

28 Apr 2013 12:13:14
Macca do you think if man city do go for Rodgers he will still stay with us?

Thanks

Think about it, if you were him would you. With the abuse he gets on here.
Also like players managers want title's and accolades. But if he doesn't go it is good for us cause Rodgers can say to the board that if they want him they need to keep backing him in the market.

I doubt BR reads this page but you never know maybe he does!

28 Apr 2013 11:45:59
Ed002,
Do you know if that story in the papers of Torres acting as 'peacemaker' between Suarez and Ivanovic is right?
The Juicer {Ed002's Note - I would think it more likely that Suarez got Torres' phone number from a team mate and called to get hold of a number for Ivanovic.}

28 Apr 2013 11:44:09
Hey eds great work.
With the priority on the defence this summer does this mean that Liverpool are not looking at forward options. brendan Rodgers said yesterday post match he would like to add more goals to the squad. Does this mean a player or try to make the squad more clinical
Thanks
Daveylivercabs

28 Apr 2013 11:43:06
After watching the goals a few times, I think it might be underestimated how good Borini's goal was. Zero time, with defenders running at you, and still manages to improvise and poke it past the keeper. Coutinho is looking like one of the best buys of the season, he's awesome. The defence still needs strengthening but I think if we tie that up then we have a strong chance of doing well next season. The adaptation to quick, short passing has started to bed in and we've started to hit harder on the counter. There's good potential in this team, they're all mostly very young and will only improve, Henderson is a perfect example of that.

JFT 96

JP

Agree 100%

Over the moon for borini, hope he gets another one or two before the season in over, just for peace of mind over the summer break.

28 Apr 2013 11:41:46
in the gutter press. Mancity to take Rodgers. I enjoyed the game and was pleased we won but my fellow reds have short memory. After the weakened Swansea game we were beaten out of park. I believe the way Newcastle played we would have won without a manger hence let's not count our chickens or heap our praises on the bumbling Rodgers because the big bad wolf Everton will be on the attack next week. But on the positive side if Mancity would take BR of our hands then it would be the day to order - A Taxi for Rodgers.

Taxi for you!

28 Apr 2013 11:41:36
Without suarez and gerrard being subbed, it proves nobody is bigger than the club, nobody is unreplacebale and we can cope without them.

I am sure the lads have just put the doubters and worriers of 'life without suarez' have been put to bed. Just relax and enjoy the football.

Amazing result, I am actually scared as to how we got coutinho for 8.5 million. He is top claa!

I still feel we need another attacking midfielder just to be on the safe side, along with another defensive midfielder, a full back, a right winger
And the obvious two centre backs we need.

I am still puzzled as to who we should get for centre back. I ppersonally really like ashley williams, but many people are critical of him, so who do you think we should get?

Well done to the whole team and particularly borini, he got there in the end and I hope he has a very prosperous and prolific career at Liverpool.

Anonymous woolback

So Gerrard missing twenty minutes of a match shows that LFC can do without Gerrard?

28 Apr 2013 11:38:13
Hi eds, quick question. What Liverpool youngster do you rate the most? (Excluding suso, sterling and wisdom)
Final question, in your opinion who is the best/ your favourite u21 player in the world currently?
Thanks, would just like to know your opinions! {Ed002's Note - Much is expected of many of the youngsters - particulary Ibe I understand.

I don't have "favourite" players and "best" is subjective but in talking with someone who knows far better than me, I am told that there are exceptional talents at Chelsea in Nathan Ake, Max Meyer of Schalke, Liverpool's Oluwaseyi Ojo and Martin Benitez of Independiente.}

I must admit when watching us play the chelsea u18's, Ake looked a class above the rest. Big future for the boy.

28 Apr 2013 11:55:29
Suarez is becoming a joke. The club are now as hated as any in premier league history, we used to be respected through the world. Eds do you think if we were offered £45m we may see sense, take the money and run? With that plus about £10m for carroll with that we could buy some class. Remy, Honda, Robben?

Mikey b {Ed002's Note - This has been done to death.}

28 Apr 2013 11:51:27
Eds who do you lot reckon we might actually go for? Erikson is a massive talent I think we should be looking at but other than that we seem to be setting our sights rather low? {Ed002's Note - Read the posts please.}

28 Apr 2013 11:38:38
Great performance yesterday. It doesn't matter how badly your opponents play you still have to take advantage and no-one puts the ball in the net for you. We have dominated many matches this season and the last and ended up with draws or defeats.
It is clear to me (an early Rodgers sceptic) that we are making progress. We took a giant leap backwards at the start of the season, but BR had to deal with little preparation time, players returning from Euros or Olympics and a squad low on confidence having limped through the end of last season.
Since that leap backwards the progress is clear. Since the January transfer window we have been excellent. There have been ropey results against Reading, Southampton and West Ham, but we have beaten Spurs, thrashed Swansea, Newcastle, Wigan, Sunderland and Fulham. It's a while since we pasted so many teams in a short space of time.

The defence obviously needs sorting but I'd like to see M Kelly given a chance to replace Skrtel.
Midfield is looking well stocked with Henderson coming through and Allen returning.
Up top I still don't believe in Borini, his finish yesterday was very ropey.

Borini's finish ropey? He only had time for a toe poke there. Look at his movement or his passing when he was involved. Don't know if you can really be negative of his performance yesterday. He came on as a sub and half the time he was on the pitch we were playing keep away on the center line.

28 Apr 2013 16:52:36
Ropey finish? He had about a second and he finished it superbly.

I think your a bit 'Ropey' Mate!

28 Apr 2013 11:28:52
hi eds, apparently this big Qatar-based company wants to be the shirt sponsor for Liverpool and rename the stadium. Is this true? If so we will be apparently getting lots of money for transfers, who do you think we'll buy? thanks LFC13 {Ed002's Note - See previous answers.}

28 Apr 2013 11:12:59
Am actually shocked people are now say sell suarez because we won 6-0 without him. You lot who are saying sell him really are fickle seriously he's compete class a liability which we as fans should ell improve on. Should be privileged that we have arguably one of the best players in the world playing for us

London red

Agreed there. Non-existant pressing from Newcastle, and Coutinho and Gerrard tore them to bits.
Everton will not make that mistake, and that will be a real test.
The Juicer

Exactly people got short memories how much of an impact suarez had with Chelsea

28 Apr 2013 10:56:29
Coutinho is jack Wilshire with infinitely more imagination & as soon as his strength improves he can have a similar impact in the middle. Holding on to him could be the hard part

How pessimistic are you?

He's only just signed!

DaveyBootle

Hold onto him pffft. just signed u mad thing
5 gold stars

When city's check book comes a calling it may be hard to hold onto him!

28 Apr 2013 10:50:07
We have scored plenty of goals this year. More than anyone apart from united. If the defence is sorted out this summer and we knock say 10-15 goals off our scored against column. Get a DM in to cover Lucas. Keep Suarez. Then top 4 should be in the bag. I know there are a lot of ifs still but I have belief in Rodgers and our team. I can see skrtle going and possibly pepe but that doesn't worry me. Skrtle is struggling under Rodgers and will be better off elsewhere, pepe has been poor for a while now. Carra will be the biggest loss.

MIKEY

Good points them Mikey but I disagree with one thing.

I see signs of Reina coming back to his best form as he appears to have a bounce to his step again. Maybe I'm wrong.

I've given my opinion on Carra now for a few months and was told he would not be going to sky regardless, so maybe this suggests a possibility of him staying on but I'm unsure.

DaveyBootle

Have to agree with Davey, Pepe seems to have sprung back to life for whatever reason? so long as the reason is not to impress any buyers.

As much as i'd love to see carragher stay on as a coach I can't see it. Check the interview with him and michael owen it doesn't sound like coaching is for him yet. However he may stay as a player next year now he's getting games, which I hope he does, his organisation is great!

13reds

Yeah fair play he seems to have regained a lot of form (pepe) but he's still not at the level he once was. I also have doubts as to if he wants to stay or not as well.
It will be a lot easier to replace him this season than say 2 seasons ago, or 2 seasons in the future.
So I say if he wants to go or if there is a ready made decent replacement then now is the time to cash in.
It might sound like I'm being harsh because he's one of my favourite players of the last 5 years but I'm thinking with my business head on.

MIKEY

I agree Pepe has found some form again so moving him on would be a business decision this summer. Looking at contract situation we have a number of players at their peak or in their 30s who the club has to make a decision on. There is the salary and self-sustaining stuff to factor in too.
Reina is a top earner with 3 yrs on contract. Therefore it's not quite tick or twist time but if we sold this summer we'd double our investment on him. Can we get a high quality replacement on less wages?
Glen Johnson is very highly paid and has two years left on his deal. We must offer a new deal or consider bids of 12m plus.
Stewart Downing highly paid and 2 years on contract. As above an offer over 10m and we'd need to consider it. It comes down to how the club want to handle players coming towards the end do deals. A new offer that takes a player into their 30s means there's no or little resale value. With the players named we could replace with younger players and make a saving on salary and the deals are self-financing.

Sunday paper reporting man city are after rodgers. Please say he's not interested Eds.

YNWA {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it, sorry.}

Even if they were I can't see him leaving for man city no way

London red

It can't be true.

Man City under Mancini: FA cup winners and finalists, premier league winners and twice runners up and regular champions league qualification.

Are they really going to sack him for a manager that has barely even cut his teeth in management terms?

Is Rodgers really going to leave LFC for City? Virtually no expectation to the expectation that he can improve on Mancini? Virtually no job security at City.

This time I think the Sunday papers might have got it wrong

Did you say no expectations at Liverpool? First time on the site is it?

Andy K

I think they would look towards him more due to the appeal of having a long term manager who could possibly have a Fergie effect. A long sustained period of success rather than Mancini's way. Constantly having to out buy all the other teams to win.

28 Apr 2013 10:38:52
hi eds, I really want to sell suarez+carrol+selvey+skrtel. why?
1. suarez:2 years 2 times bans almost 20 match. 30 goals a season does not makes big impact in the team often. we
are very rely on suarez. it is the best time to make cash. it is very hard to replace him bcoz he is one of the best in the world. but we need our glory back. we have little money to spend. so only with 30m-35m (20m from owner+sell from carrol and skrtel). with this money we can not get 2CB, 1 DM, 1 LW and back up forword. if suarez scores 30 goals next year with the same team then always 7th place for us.

2. carrol:good in head but we want to win every match. carrol can be used as sub for us. but 20 or 15 min time cameo needs good run in the box. only goals with head useless bcoz we need to pass the ball and carol can not do it.
3. selvey:many oppourtunities to proof but fail. suso and texxeria far far better than him. so make cash from him.
4. simply, out of form and sell to russia.

I don't understand we blues would be dying for 20 million you can do a lot with it

Couldnt understand a word of that

28 Apr 2013 10:38:41
Is that poor Brazilian lad think its Bernardo who was kidnapped the same one we were linked with a while ago? Poor kid {Ed002's Note - No. And you are thinking of Bernard who was one of the South American players that Liverpool were scouting earlier in 2012.}

28 Apr 2013 10:30:25
Hey eds not much of a question but a statement I thought that Liverpool played as a real team and chose the right options in defence and attack yesterday for the first time this season. Newcastle were poor but Liverpool played well. I think too many times this season players look to give Suarez the ball even when there is a better pass on hope he stays as he is worl class but in his absence I hope the team gels without him as it will almost be like a new signing when he comes back to the team.

28 Apr 2013 10:04:47
would love to see ryan mclaughlan playing down the wing terriffic pace and ability to get past defenders also knows how to get a ball in, would then provide good cover on the right.

Absolutely, If there is nothing to play for tho, when I say that I mean if we can't finish above the bitters. Deserves ago along with texerria (can't spell it). They both look ready for a squad place

28 Apr 2013 09:43:29
what a game yesterday guys. fantastic performance. so happy for borini, well taken toe poke a true instinctive strikers goal. coutinho what a player my motm definitely. fantastic game. need to keep this up. YNWA

28 Apr 2013 09:32:14
Newcastle gave Coutinho acres of room. Do that to a player like that and he will destroy you.

It is sad that when we beat an exceptionally poor team, we are suddenly up there with Man Utd. The same thing
happened a couple of months back. Then reality kicked in.

Everton and Fulham will put things into perspective. Hammer them in the same fashion, then it will be Man U next.

Coutinho could be the buy of the season.

What is wrong with the defence? Difficult to say, good players don't become bad overnight.

Not Waro.

What's the point of being a fan if all you do is play down brilliant performances?

Different playing system this season and a different role is being asked of the defenders. Skrtle has struggled due to lack of pace and passing ability.

MIKEY

Play down?
Putting things into context!

28 Apr 2013 09:19:50
I would just like to say how much Jordan Henderson as improved this season. I think away from home he is crucial to this side mainly because of how much work he gets through in a game. He can get from box to box all day long. Not only that he is getting better of timing his runs into the opponents box. Also his end quality it getting better all the time.

I also like him at home the only thing that let's him down sometimes is when we need to break teams down at home and force a game. But I believe this will come with time.

Anyway keep up the good work Jordan.

Yes, it was clear Henderson would come good. Quality.

Someone I think My TV, BROKE! Seriously All this time this year and what a performance! 6-0? with Suarez! I must be in the Twilight Zone!

Hairy Yank!

ps. I think this team needs a 2 Solid CB's, To replace Skyrtl, and Jamie the Legend Carra.
I say go after youth and players that want to give it there all for the Reds.

Also add 1 Eriksen, and 1 Welbeck. I could see Liverpool become extremely Dominant, Welbeck cause Suarez is I think wrote his Transfer Request, it is Real, Barca, or Bayern For Luis.
Sad to see him go, Talent is something not everyone has.

You mean 3 goal a season Welbeck?

Welbeck lol

28 Apr 2013 06:42:11
hi, eds, if caroll and suarez goes which stiker may we prefer. I like luis muriel of udinase. age 22 and solid stiker?he scores 9 goals in 19 matches coming 10 times as sub. juventus now interested but Man United and arsenal, a. madrid also trukiing him. he wants regular plying time that manu, juve and arsenal does not. I think great replacment for suarez. if lewondiski ignore bayern, bayern try to get suarez. anything around 40m will be accepted. muriel, sturidge and borini make our attacking superb. I have seen some hilights of udinese last night, muriel is awsome. the transfer system is little different this year. every big team wants their deserved players early. long time to go before transfer will open. one of the reason is that every big league in europe this year the campion name came early. Liverpool should decide early what will be their plan next season. we have to be quick enough. we need two CB. lot of names come. but no name assure. next season every big team wants defenders. bercelona needs at least one, real needs one, ac milan needs two, inter needs two, juve one, Man United 0ne to replace ferdinand, chelsea needs two for terry annd luiz who prefer in DM, arsenal needs two probly vermellen and mertesaker goes, man city needs one to replace lescott. a good thing to notice that many of the big teams need CM for the replacement for their legends like terry, ferdinand, puyol. and the defenders leave from the big teams are not needed by the big teams. so if we late we will suffer, then lescoat, albiol, pepe, barzaglli, mexes type players of 30age plus or same will avaiable to replace carrager and skrtel. but need permanent and long term service from new center backs. another reason is that next year world cup many teams have not their outomatic CB chioce. france, england, argentina, netherlands have the promlems. so good defenders at the age 22 to 25 want to prove their ability for selecting for national team. they does not want to sit in the beanch. exemple, imagine a CB of age 24 joins bercelona this year, but he has to prove himself. pique and mescerano always start while the new one search oportunity in caseof someones injury or card problems. but in Liverpool case the situation is different. we can assure two good center backs to play regularly. and I am sure they will accept our offer. if we offer sakho with proper way, he will join with us because alex and silve do not give any chance. toby alderwield wants join us because he has to fight with company, vertonghen, vermellen for place in the national team staring 11. look in our team. reina, sturidge, kelly, hendo, downing, lucas, coutinho, borini all wants to prove themselves for playing their national teams. so we need to quick. I am pretty confident we will be successful in the next seasons and we will speand our money for hungry players who wants prove people wrong with their works like sturidge and coutinho. bye. {Ed002's Note - Muriel is in talks over a move elsewhere.}

28 Apr 2013 00:28:57
Hi eds, doing a great job at the moment. just wanted too say concerning the talk of a Qatari sponsorship and naming rights deal, I find it hard to comprehend how people are dismissing the rumours because Ayre came out and said we wouldn't rename anfield. IMO if the Qataris came in with a serious offer, why wouldn't we take. it would close the gap between us and the top 4 certainly
Just my opinion
Kabir - please post {Ed002's Note - Please read what I wrote earlier. It is not a now issue.}

What a quality performance. In fairness to the team we've played as well as that in quite a few games this season - our 2 big problems have been soft goals and inconsistency, let's see how we kick on against Everton - if we can get a good win we might sneak Europe if Chelsea win the Europa. Todays performance.

Positives:

6-0!

clean sheet

Coutinho - classy operator, looks excellent down the middle

Henderson's form continues, he's been immense.

Sturridge knows where the net is. I was fiercely critical when we were linked with him - I hold up my hands and stand corrected.

Borini scored, well in lad!

Negatives:

Coutinho hit the bar instead of getting a goal he richly deserved - not really a real negative but the lad deserved a goal, undoubtedly man of the match.

Hopefully we can finish the season strongly, get a few decent acquisitions in over the summer and see where we stand - will be a critical transfer window, if we can bring in players with the impact of Coutinho and Sturridge we'll be looking very strong.

Sometimes in football you depend to much on one person, we done it with Gerrard for many years, we relied a lot on Torres when he was and now more recently Luis. this isn't a bad thing if others contribute to the goals etc but I find when you look back, Gerrard got injured and the stats clearly showed we won more games without him in that period, the same was proved without Torres, not for one minute am I suggesting let him go but it does appear to "force" us to be a team and not want to pick out that player all the time. we are forced to take more responsibility on the ball, to show what we all know we are capable of week in week out. we all of a sudden have runners and players like Hendo Daniel Philip all coming out of there shadows. I just thought the movement was exellent today albeit against a poor side but we made them chase shadows and they eventually didn't know which way to turn.
It's just a confidence thing for me, it's happened in the past so even if Luis was sold I think it would make us a better overall team given we'd probably bring in 2 or 3 players of footballing ability and make us a stronger unit if you get me?
Obviously Macca's said he's not going today and i'm pleased because to build around him can only be beneficial but I'd like to see the players believing they don't have to look to him every single time we have the ball because teams just pick our shape up this way.
Let Luis bring them into play as a team going forward as one, we'd tear teams apart.
Cheers

Hi guys,
Eds, with varied reports and Macca confirming that Suarez will stay, do you think another ST will be signed, or was another potential striking option being looked at? would this also depend on the potential sale of Steward Downing, and bringing in a player who is versatile as part of a front 3?

Also, is there any chance of Suarez being loaned out to a lower league club to reduce his match ban?

thanks eds, hoping for 3 points today

JFT96 {Ed002's Note - He is not going to be loaned out, and there is some distance to go before next season begins.}
