Cracking game,we edged it for me.And unlucky not to win.Just got to get a lethal poacher in.Another keeper had great game, but aint full story every week.A clinical fowler/rush esque type be a dream. But who fits bill?Lucas was superb.Enrique,Kuyt,Adam, whole back 4 did well.Feel sorry for Suarez,on own at times.Needed help.So sad Gary Speed. And fron selfish view,Bellamy may have made difference today. But it is irrelevent,in light of tradgedy.Sorry to say only couole of negatives in my view=Downing-so obviously needs a goal.Maxi wouldve kept place for me.Didnt think Hendo gave much, particularily offensively. And gona split views,-know only a cameo. And nearly scored, but, sorry, dont see Carrol doing it at LFC.And hope quotes attributed to Reina are incorrect journo bull re.Carrol.Sadly performances since at Lfc tend to point to them being fact.Hard luck today lads.Poacher a must!Oh aND CROWD A LOT BETTER TODAY.mR.wHINGE

What quotes mate?

Reina joked on soccer am that Andy was the worst trainer in the 'temamates' part of the show. Nothing serious at all mate, just being ramped up by some of the usual gutter press types.

how people can say suarez doesn't score goals is beyond me? i know hes got 4 in the league but he's got a few in the carling cup and generally every game he is kept out by world class save(s)

Suarez is utter magic mate
The Real KB

Any chance he would disappear

Some defenders think he has as they haven't a clue where he's about to pop up

ED01 what kind of team do you think Kenny will put out on tuesday? he said he would put a reserve team out do you think he will? {Ed001's Note - more than likely there will be some of the players who are not first choice. Maxi, Kelly, Coates, I expect all three to start.}

Reina, Kelly, carragher, Coates, Enrique, maxi, spearing, Lucas, Downing, bellamy, Carroll,

Aurelio might be at lb?

After the game today I heard a lot of people on the radio slating Henderson, having been sat in the Kop watching the game id have to disagree.
Henderson never stopped closing down and getting into space. Lucas stopped Silva, which is more than can be said for any other team this season.
Enrique still messes around at the back for me, but it didnt cost us today, what did was Downing.
He was backing out of challenges all day and not doing his job in the slightest, he made a few runs in the second half, getting at them but didnt do it at all in the first half. There was a point in the first half where Downing tracked a players run down the wing, but refused to put a foot in, to the point where Enrique had to basically challenge through Downing. Then a few minutes later he let the runner go again, which resulted in the corner, and we all saw what happened there.
Maxi should have been introduced at half time, his more direct style and better ability to finish may have made a difference, although Hart was what stopped us.
On the note of Hart, Man City would have been put to the sword without his heroics, just as Norwich would have been without Ruddy's and also Swansea if Vorm had not played a blinder.
All in all a good performance today, just need these goalkeepers to stop impressing against us.

Anfield Andy

You dont get any points for ifs, buts, and maybes.

A bit hard on Downing, I feel. He's not in the best form, I admit, but putting a foot in is not really his strength is it? He does need to work back but he's not a real tackler and he has other strengths. And he is a winger and the only real one we've got at the moment.
Also, it's easy to big Maxi when he's not playing because he's doing nothing wrong. But apart from his goal, he didn't do anything special last week. I don't get this clamour for him to be included. I can't really see that we miss him or that his Liverpool career has been that good.

Rigsby.

Enriques class so cant have that.and hendo wasnt all that today

Am I the only person who thought that Downing was brilliant and had his best game in a Liverpool shirt, he destroyed Micah Richards who has been talked up no end lately. Also Carroll shoud have been given longer, Kuyt was terrible today and deserved to be taken off certainly after 70 minutes. Still good performance all in all.
KiwiRed

Kiwi red, are you feeling OK?

Downing was bloody awful, never beat his man all game and his shooting was pathetic, when he did get space he tried to cross the the ball to Saurez who was marked by at least two players.
Carroll came on and looked like a lumbering pub player again.! I ask you to watch the game again and just watch him, apart from the header his involvement was of such a poor quality it beggars belief.

Lucas was outstanding todayy showed that he's still gt his attacking instincts aswell as his amazing defending

27 Nov 2011 21:54:56
Love it how city fans wrote liverpool off before the game and then find that there team can't get the ball out of their half haha... The fact is that city tried to play their best but the oppsition were stronger and better.

Yea and we didn't even have Stevie G in the Side

Stevie who ?

I've praised and gave my honest views were Liverpool are concerned and now I will say them again.
Under Kenny the team will develop as a unit the same way Utd do under Alex. This is because both managers are greater than any player.
Both managers believe in protecting and supporting their players.
Both believe in pass n move attacking football.
Both can make a good team great.
This is why I believe UTD and Liverpool will challenge for the title and have a chance in the future.
Chelsea and City need the money to win but unity, heart and pride always win.
Liverpool are on the way up guys..

But which red?

United red?

Just a question, but who would take Tevez at the club?

Spose I would be open to the idea, maybe just til jan on loan, but then again that's probably why I'm not manager :/ {Ed009's Note - not me.}

Nor me, rather have Balotelli than him. And that's saying something!

Myk

Hardly worth replying to. no .........way.

The headline on Sky Sports News after todays excellent game is 'City held to draw at Anfield'.
I'm not sure if I watched a different game to the questionably educated people at Sky, but Liverpool (again) had more chances to take the 3 points than our visitors did. They had alot of possession in the first 25mins but never really stretched us or hurt us.
Are we to believe that City are so far infront of everyone else in the EPL that it is a shock when they go to somewhere as big as Anfield and only come away with a measely draw. Personally, I thought we were much the better side in the second half and that it was Liverpool who were held to a draw not the other way around.
Lucas was excellent as was Adam and Henderson, and Enrique at the moment is the best LB in Europe. There have been hundreds of people coming onto this site (some are LFC fans, some are not) slating Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Enrique, and Carroll. But today we all saw the above mentioned players outplay and outwork one of the most expensivenly assembled teams in the world. I must be honest and admit that a season or two ago I also questioned Lucas' ability and wether he should be at a Liverpool, but am big enough and happy enough to eat humble pie, and admit that he is AWESOME!

Kenny is slowly but surely moulding us back into a genuine force in the EPL, Whether Sky, the Tabloids or anyone else for that matter likes it or not!

And on a sadder note, R.I.P Gary Speed. A true Legend of the Premiership.

Tommy Walsh.

realistically who do you think is gonna win the title this year

{Ed009's Note - Manchester City or, if they have another slip up in terms of player power, United.}

Your Probably right Ed009. But after we reel off 25 league wins on the trot we'll be there or there abouts;-)

Chi-Paul

How did you get on with the milf last night?? {Ed009's Note - Hahahaha I'm afraid that all I got was my twenty quid payment. There is always next time eh!}

Just saw an interesting stat, taken before the City game. Of all our mid-fielders Charlie Adam has ran the greatest distance during a match. He has ran 78.27miles in 12 premier league games, our next player is Lucas with 71.43miles.

When compared to Arsenal, Spurs, Manchester City and United only Aaron Ramsey (81.68miles) and Yaya Toure (79.1miles) have run further.

I remember there has been lots of comments previously regarding Adam's fitness but it appears he has really improved this area. Well done Charlie, the hard work is paying off!

JRG

What you say is sensible and there has been a huge improvement, today was a sterling performance and city were lucky to get a point from us. I like to see Lucas and Charlie run a little less, because they're more successful in other aspects of the game, but what it clear is that they have Liverpool hearts that beat STRONGLY for us,... Bellars, gat back soon and show your man your, gusto and guille, RIP Gary Speed, everymans steady man - priceless class,

Suffolk'n Red

Thats some very intresting stats JRG. Good post.
kopfiend 1978 ynwa

Agree 100%, Adam has improved hugely as a player and I think most of that is down to his fitness. He's getting better and better with every game.

Hi thought our defence was great today no big boot no panic calm under pressure we just dont have any punch up front, thought it very strange leaving suarez up there alone he is simply outnumbered, very strange bringing on carroll so late.

27 Nov 2011 21:33:43
I think (if city fans were honest) that was the toughest test they have had this year and were fortunate to leave with a point.

The most telling thing is that...that was city's toughest test today...but not for us though. I rarely felt worried about them scoring, and if not for Kompany's flukey shoulder into the corner I dont think they would have scored at all.

Rewflo

Same should be said for the even flukier equaliser!!

I thought Swansea gave us a tougher game - for all their big names they didn't get through our defence much.

D 2308

1st half City were the better team and the way they knocked it about I was worried they were gonna run away with the game so for you to say you were never worried shows your a liar trying to sound cocky! All in all we should have won but we are deffo goin in the right direction! Hopefully top 4 this season and then with the new players having a season under there belt the league is there for us to go for!!

Waro

No I said Swansea gave us a tougher game. City bossed possession the first 30 mins but they played mainly in front of our defence as we defended in numbers.

Swansea broke and played through our midfield more directly and had more of a goal threat.

D 2308

I don't know who made that comment about 'fluky equaliser' but what do you call an attempt to head a ball and it goes into the net of your shoulder. Is that not a fluke?
Dutchmal

To the poster below my top one:

The point I was making is that all the tense nervy moments were for you Citeh slickers. I did not feel nervous at any point, Your expensively assembled team never realy troubled us. You guys were hanging on by a goal keepers glove for about 60 mins.

To all the City fans who keep saying we were lucky that your team didn't turn up, when was the last time your team EVER turned up at Anfield.

Fair do's you are top of league and you have a good team but you did have your keeper to thank for your point. Just recoginize it as a point gained and move on and we'll see you for rematch next year - prob on a Sunday as you might be playing Thursday before.

Oh and since you have got a few pounds can we have a new dressing room door.

Lucas absolutely immense today best player on the pitch by a country mile, take a bow son u really are developing into some player, he ran the show!!
Steve.

Lucas was FANTASTIC today I must say! Just to see how good a player he is, compare him to Anderson of United, both converted to Defensive Midfielders. LUCAS IS MUCH MUCH BETTER....

Lucas was immense. I also thought Dan Agger had a great game. He was so composed, strong and marshalled the defence brilliantly. If he stays fit, it will make a big difference where we finish this seasonn.

LIVERPRES

This just shows where Hendo, Downing and Carroll can be in a few months or so, if we are all behind them. Remember how people were slating Lucas before....

HK

I think whats really impressive (Especially when using the Anderson comparison) is that Lucas is better defensively and now he is slowly becoming an excellent box player too. Just need some goals and he will be literally a complete midfielder.

Was a pretty good result today and if it weren't for Hart's acrobatics then it would've been a win.

Just goes to show you can buy talent but you can't buy heart, Adam, Lucas and Suarez were excellent today.

What is it with visiting keepers that makes them play so well at anfield? People are talking about replacements for gerrard, I think Lucas is developing into a fantastic box to box player. His tackling and positioning is good (not too mention strength) his passing has improved immensely. Just need to add goals to his game.

If we beat chelsea on tuesday I think that caps off a good week for Liverpool. To get 4 points of chelsea and city and too get though too the next round of the cup is good going.

Danny

Agreed, although it says it all when im disappointed we didnt beat city considering the chances we had, but need to remember they did spurs 5-1 and utd 6-1 at there own grounds so in persepctive a good november which could have been a nightmare considering the start against swansea.

I'm very pleased with the way we are playing really enjoying watching are football.

Danny

27 Nov 2011 21:05:11
for me the result was dissapointting but the way liverpool was excellant.

we have six matches in december against mediocre teams with newcastle the last of the matches and i think liverpool sould definetly be aiming for 18 points

Why jump the Gun

One match at a time

Given our recent history with so called mediocre teams perhaps you should lower your expectations a little.

27 Nov 2011 20:58:56
Why is Henderson being slated so badly? I just dont get it he didnt do a single thing wrong and we wouldn't have kept possession half as well if he hadn't played as well as putting in a great workrate to help defend.

I agree. He was excellent when playing inside, wide right is not his position for me. Always better when playing more central.

27 Nov 2011 20:57:16
well that's it then. I just had a troll of the other pages and I think you should know the following facts.

1. We didn't play well today, Citeh just played bad
2. Lucas was average
3.Silva didn't show up
4. Charlie is not good enough to make the Man Utd midfield.
5. Joe Hart didn't win Citeh a point
6. Citeh had to score for us
7. Bad'olTelly shouldn't have been sent off

Chi-Paul

That's a good joke cracked me up

I suppose those same forums didn't mention that Kompany had to accidentally shoulder the ball in off a corner which enrique gifted to them.

That pretty much all of their chances were set up by our players and that the referee seemed to think everyone should be allowed to mutilate Suarez.

Rewflo

It was Downing's lack lustre covering that led to the corner that Citeh scored from, not a mistake from Enrique.

Last post fact

Judging by twitter Liverpool won today. I must have missed it so who got the winner to add to the incredibly lucky equaliser they got?
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
dont think adrian durham on talks**te likes lfc, this is what hes just tweeted, jimmybosun

Weird, he usually sticks up for us. He slates arsenal every chance he gets though :0)

He always slates lfc when ive listened, one gobs ite that fella

27 Nov 2011 20:53:17
According to popular opinion the missing link to the LFC wilderness years is Adam Johnson - wonderful game today Adam well done you looked amazing.

I thought Downing had an excellent game today and as usual helps Enrique out with cover and options - get off Downings case he proved again today 90 mins of effort is better than the show ponies like Aguero and Ballotelli.

We are gettting there - back the players we have.

BOILED ONIONS

Downing was the one average player today-again

27 Nov 2011 20:40:24
I think city went home with a bloody nose today.
And I think that's the best performance I've seen
from Liverpool so far this season. We are definitely improving.
Adam is improving, Henderson is improving and played
well in CM, he had a pretty good game. But the TEAM
was fantastic, closing down, passing and movement
was there. I don't know why we played Downing ahead of
Maxi. I am starting to wonder if Maxi is on the way out
in January? Anyway great performance from LFC. And
a great game of football today.

Agree maxi shouldve retained place.mr.whinge

27 Nov 2011 20:36:46
I for one thought the whole team were superb today and it's about time everyone, yes everyone, gets behind the team instead of being pathetically critical.

Well done LFC, great performances all round and Lucas MOTM award was well deserved. The signs are great for the future.

YNWA & RIP Gary Speed.

Loving all these citeh daydreamers coming on our page. All of a sudden they think that their rags to riches club is unbeatable.
Message for you plebs, you were outclassed today, money won't buy you 5 European cups, the majority of your players are not with you because of your history. When your boss gets bored, your stadium will be half full again.

Stop goin on about your past mate city gonna win league

Manchester thanks you Sheik mansour!!

You have no history, when the money man goes you will be history. You will keep signing players like tevez and ballotelli who are crap people as they don't care. The bubble will burst, you've won nothing yet my friend!

Not surprised you dont like reminding of our history.must remind you of yours, ala chavski, any success you may get will be stained with sheik(romans)influence

people r saying we need gerrards replacement but i think weve got him and thats henderson KK tried it out today having him playing in the gerrard role and at only 20 we still have 10 or maybe more years left in him so really we dont need his replacement

27 Nov 2011 20:20:49
Plenty of people have commented on the positives of today, so I'm going to concentrate on some negatives for me.

Stewart Downing - far too often he drifts inside far too much for my liking. He is a left winger, who showed today that when he goes on the outside and drives at his opponent he can be dangerous, he just doesn't do it often enough for me.

Support for Suarez - If we're going to play 1 up front, you need players breaking from midfield to support and go beyond the striker. From what I saw, that didn't happen very often.

Bar those thoughts, I thought Henderson looked more comfortable in the centre. Our full-backs are providing a consistent threat. Lucas again performed very well, Adam is proving an inspired buy - he always seems to pick the right pass and moves the opposition around with his passing. Suarez was again a huge threat.

Agree with all,bar maybe hendo bit.good post

Not many players can say they had david Silva in there pocket for a full 90min so well done Lucas -McMenemy

Disagree silva didn't turn up 2day

He was on the pitch today collecting his mega pay check he didnt play to his best cos lucas didnt let him. well done lucas its about time u got the praise u deserve .

big red john

If Silva didn't turn up, who was that dancing with Pepe with an open goal?

LIVERPRES

Cudn't have been your Silva or he'd have scored. Must have been the other Silva and the other City that we played today.

Silva wasn't allowed to show up. never given a second's rest by the tireless lucas.

Rest assured silva is not the kind of player to go missing unless forced to.

Citeh fans in danger of being as arrogant, and tunnel vision as chavskis.always give credit when due boyz.something us at lfc known for.its called-class

Thats when you know you have a real quality player...when they dont turn up in key matches. Do you realise that you saying that Silva didn't turn up is more of a stinging criticism than saying Lucas was better?

27 Nov 2011 20:11:12
well done today liverpool absoloutly deserved a point today. By far our most difficult game this year but i must ask you to clear that red mist from your eyes

1. City didn't turn up
2. The ref was awful
3. It was at anfield, wait till you come to the Etihad
4.You played well and we were really bad but you still couldn't beat us FACT! {Ed009's Note - You were bad because we were so good. Or was it because none of your players REALLY care, when the going gets a bit tough, and the weather gets a bit cold...}

Your spot on ed

Danny

Lucky city, outfought, outthought and outplayed. citeh will be around for a couple of years at this level, Liverpool forever. Completely classless, as bad as utd it seems

When the going gets tough and the weather gets cold we grind out a good result to stay top of prem by 5 points and continue our unbeaten run

Clown starts off giving us credit then talks through his a""". Listen i'll give city massive credit as thery're a class act but dont make excuses and brucsh aside our great performane cause it was only your keeper that helped you take away a point.

You're right the ref was awful... to us

Or is it, you couldnt come to Anfield were our form has been patchy. And beat a new formed team still finding its feet?...FACT!

Or maybe your lads found it tough going, so didnt want to know, and started lashing out?? As Rafa said you want facts these are the facts...All the best.

KNEE JERK

Well said ed009. How can they say we deserved a point. It should have been all three. It took a m.o.m preformance from joe heart to give them a point. But like their trash-heap neighbours it comes down to blaming the ref, not down to light-weight players who won't turn up when the chips are down. See what happens when you run out of chips....:) p.s bolloteli is a joke.

Ed009 on fine form tonight.

Lets be fair

1. City believed their own hype.
2. If your team didn't turn up then thats a damning statement - do they only turn up for derbies.
3. Yeh the ref was awful - Kompany poss could have walked. Maybe you just got a bit frustrated because you weren't getting your own way.
4. Yes it was at Anfield - you play each team home and away. Its called a league. Did you want us to cheer for you. Sorry that doesn't happen.
D 2308

27 Nov 2011 20:05:38
I think those who are being critical of Henderson are not being fair. He did what was asked of him. Kenny should have changed him for Maxi with around 20 mins to go as we were clearly in the ascendancy and we needed to capitalise on that.

I am still waiting for Downing to announce his arrival at Liverpool. I guess if Bellamy had been OK to play, Downing may have started on the bench. Come on Stewart, sort yourself and your head out.

Bang on re downing.he needs to believe in himself

27 Nov 2011 19:59:13
well done today liverpool drawing with us but lucas still not better than de jong as a holding midfielder {Ed009's Note - Well, he clearly is. When Mancini is playing Barry in midfield you know the alternative offers nothing of note.}

Id like to see De Jong out muscle Toure...

Thought you were the expert! De jong played mid-week barry didn't, it's called rotation, thats what you can do when you have a big squad of quality players {Ed009's Note - "Big squad of quality players"; we are still talking about the same Barry and De Jong, right?}

Haha yaya would EAT lucas alive

My favourite moment in the match was when Lucas out muscled that horrible yoke Toure, Lucas is world class and his passing has improved soo much this year!

great performance, next 5 fixtures we can climb up the table, 13 points out of 15 and well be in the mix. c'mon the reds!

Proud of the lads,

Conor

Lucas world class!! what a joke he's a good prem player de jong when fully fit is world class agreed barry is a waste of space and money

De Jong is s**t FACT!!!

I like when he said "Yaya would eat Lucas alive."

Then why didn't he? Just not hungry? Lucas managed to out muscle Toure, out think Silva and out run Milner.

I prefer Matt Lucas

Still trying too decide who to get on the back of my shirt...

Going to my first game against in jan! Can't wait! I take it there is no chance on seeing players to get autographs?

Any suggestions on shirt name?

Regards
Elliot YNWA {Ed009's Note - myself, I would get Dan Agger. He doesn't get enough recognition.}

I have agger number 5 has a special touch to it..

I have agger too :)

Kaizer

There's really ony one shirt

It has a figure of 8 on the back

I have Agger!

I'd go for Dalglish myself.....my youngest nephew had Torres, Then his dad bought him a new shirt with Mireiles on.....Dalglish is a much safer bet! Don't temp fate!
Iggypop

My son has now had Gonzalez, Kewell, Kuyt, Babel, Torres and Merieles on his shirt. I call him Mister Kiss of Death. {Ed002's Note - I think the fans will club together to buy him a Carroll shirt.}

27 Nov 2011 19:53:39
After a performance like that it is difficult to pick a player out who deserves to be man of the match but I think most people agree that Lucas was outstanding again today. He is a player who over the last two or three years has developed into one of the best holding mid-fielders in the league.

But I would like to give a special mention to Pepe Reina again. I said after last weeks win over Chelsea that he deserves special praise for the save he made at 1-1 but I think he deserves praise today for the way he played the sweeper role so well. The decision making and speed at which he came of his line is another example of why he is simply the best keeper in the league.

A positive end to a terrible day with the news about Gary Speed.

Today I have felt very sad and emotional at the death of Gary Speed. Great man and a great professional. The lad had nothing associating him with liverpool but i'm gutted my the loss of him.Would have loved craig bellamy to have scored and dedicated it to him but I understand why the lad never played. He wasn't just a manager to him who he was a friend. He's was a top man. I'm glad liverpool put on a really good game today.I think we were terrific and deserved to win but i'm more than happy with the performance. It bodes well for the rest of the season. Lucas and adam are looking a top midfield pairing now. They have been immense in the last two games. But credits too Joe hart we was fantastic and proved why he is englands number 1 he made some sensational saves. We have some very win able games in the premier league coming up so hopefully we can get are reward for playing some excellent football. thanks

you guys cant even contribute to a draw, you praise your team like your barcelona winning the champs league.

yet the player you want to be thanking is joleon lescott

Yeah you're right - if only Liverpool had contributed to the game, we were totally useless today.....................doughnut.

JRG

You don't understand the reason why because you are a divvy. We dominated the league leaders and should have won. That is the reason why we are happy. And were only going to get better.

I can not vote the best man of the game because all players contributed very well depending on their position. I think all of them done extremely well defenders the keeper the forwards etc. the only player that In my opinion still lucking confidence was Henderson. I do not thing he should play RW. Is not for him. Henderson should play in the middle and either put maxi or Downing on the light with Bellamy on the left

Why do we have to pick out players for criticism. We played well today against a team who have been steam rolling sides this season. In the words of Andy Gray give yourselves a pat on the backs lads.

27 Nov 2011 19:30:03
I am so disappointed to see my fellow Liverpool fans happy to drop 2 points at home to a bunch of upstarts .We showed too much respect have we forgotten who we are we are LIVERPOOL and should not be going out to stop teams like this from playing we should show them we are LIVERPOOL .If we are to progress lets do it in an attacking manner and if teams can outplay us then well done them but I hate going into games set up with an underdog mentality. We would have won today had we gone for victory from the start.RIP Gary Speed good man good player sad loss. Derek

UPSTARTS!

UPSTARTS! WE ARE CITY, SUPER CITY, WE ARE CITY, FROM MAINE ROAD. consider yourselves lucky we didn't turn up today!!

Your missus must be over the moon to have such a winge bag for company every day! I for one am made up with the way our team played today against a team who has turned over so many others this season. I'm also pleased with the position we are in compared to how we looked last season. For once be positive and praise your team when they have shown the will to try and win!

Myk

'Derek'

Please stop it with this 'we are Liverpool' rubbish and that we should be going to toe-to-toe with teams like City.

The last two seasons we have finished sixth and seventh so forgive us for taking some satisfaction in totally outplaying the costliest squad ever assembled in Premier league history. The result may not have perfect but the performance is something to be proud off.

JRG

MAN CITY FANS! Let me remind you you have no club anymore. It was bought by an Arab Trillionaire, all your players were then sold & your stadium is now the 'Etihad'. Duh!?

dd

Why didn't you turn up today? Is that how leagues are won by not turning up?

I ,unlike most of you on here, have travelled the world watching my beloved Reds and am not prepared to settle for scraps.I will never be happy with a home draw against the likes of City we are on the way back but need to believe in ourselves and really go out to show what we can do.To all of you who condemn my views try getting to watch the team in real life to those who agree and follow the team will be with you Stamford Bridge and Craven Cottage in the next week.WE ARE LIVERPOOL AND ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH. Derek

Derek,
Don't be so negative. We outplayed them after they scored and should have won. A fine performance although I though Downing could have done better. You are lucky having travelled to see the team around the world...me, I've had to make do with World service radio and papers that are days late pre internet!

27 Nov 2011 19:22:27
Don't understand why Henderson plays before maxi. He is poor at making decisions and isn't a goal threat going forward. Maxi deserves a run in the team

I think Hendo played quite well. he doesn't deserve to be sticked for everything, he does. A wonderful performance today. Just if we have been a bit more lucky, it could have been massive. But a great positive to take. Keep it up. YNWA

These posts really get to me I understand people have opinions but why a great performance all round and I am genuinely dissapointed in only coming away with a point. We have been far the better side against 4 of the top 6 sides and only reason its that many is because we haven't played newcastle. Better than arsenal better than chelsea better than utd and city 2 wins and 2 draws which are both games we should have won some slightly better refereeing against both manc clubs and a little bit of luck against keepers who have had there games of the season against us and we are right in the mix for top honours. The side is looking strong and balanced all over the pitch, were playing well and still people have the nerve to come on here and complain about individuals and tactics and managment who should start who should sub etc.... Some people need to start appreciating who we have who the owners have brought in player and management. they listen to fans they go about buisness quietly and professionally and in the right way. 18 months ago we were looking at Carlton Cole, Konchesky, poulsen and all the other mediocre players. Say what you want about henderson , carroll , adam or any other players brought in but I couldn't be happier give me henderson over poulsen any day , he looks solid but to me he goes about his job quietly and well and all the time he's improving. I am a very happy fan at the moment and have been since kenny came back and the owners showed the fans there intent and willingness to listen. the only way today could have been any better would have been the win we rightly deserved but it wasn't meant to be. City will go and beat the teams above us as they have already done and on the last 2 performances I know things are on the up and we will be there come May.
Great performance from every player in red today and my thoughts go out to Gary speed's family and friends on there sad loss a modern legend and true gent of the game.
Carlos79

Hendo does a great job on that field. His Lung busting runs often gets missed on tv.You Just see him in the box missing a opportunity.Instead of appreciating the effort he makes to create himself the chance.
jiminy Cricket

Well said Carlos79

JRG

Agree with the above reply. Hendo played well, that said I would have liked a camio from maxi towards the end.

Myk

Maybe Maxi for Kuyt sooner

Your all talking dung! Hendo is poor, to young and panics anywhere near the penalty area

Hendo looked out of his depth.

Hendo was brought for what he will be in the next couple of years. Give the lad some time, still young n very much a work in progress.

If we produce performances like todays, there is no team in the premier league that can stand in front of us. The only problem today was that Luis was left alone with no assist. I think if Maxi was in the game instead of Henderson or if we had another striker up front we would win the game. We were a bit unlucky also. Hart stopped Adams second strike with his toe and a few other good strikes were denied either by Hart or the woodwork

Perhaps the reason we played so well, was that we played 5 in midfield to match City and pressure them. Another striker would have been great but we're only allowed 11 players! I like playing the 5, especially with Lucas and Adam because it gives us a bit more insurance. Henderson wasn't great today but he was part of a very good team performance. Just like Maxi last week.

Top marks for our defensive duo, Agger and Skrtel! Agger looking more and more like the leader in defence. Special mention to Johnson, who defended well and made many forward runs

SingRed

Agger is class. skrtel is too prone to mistakes for my liking

What about 3rd centre half? Pepe!
He got us out of trouble a few times by playing sweeper. I doubt there are many 'keepers around that are quicker than him and he's fantastic with the ball at his feet.

27 Nov 2011 19:15:27
SO dalglish could not wait to have a bevie as the whole football world witnessed and hes supposed to keep andy carroll off the sauce, talk about the blind leading the blind.

Maybe he made the gesture to mancini cos its mancini's birthday?

I think that was dalglish trying to sort out a transfer for janwary since city need to get rid of some players.

Don't be so bloody pathetic. I hope that was two managers agreeing to an after-match beer - just as it should be. The King graduated through the boot room. They were always keen to see what they could glean from the opposition but at the same time being perfect gentlemen. At least Mancini isn't part of Old Whiskynose's little cabal. Good to see Bruce in trouble while I think on. Don't think the King is going to get hammered and fall off his barstool, do you?

Adam& Lucas starting to gell say posters. They're right biggest difference is that Lucas doesn't have to play on the edge of his own box' all day and Adam can start moves further upfield.
Why? Because we can play a higher line up the pitch and press the game more . I love Carra but we appear more mobile at the moment .Both CBs played really well again .Agger was stand out instead of sick note.
I'd have taken 1:1 before and my disappointment shows our improvements this year so far .
Well done red boys the journey continues.

I think 99% of Liverpool fans would have taken 4pts from Chelsea away and City at home.

JRG

I predicted 2 draws against the chavs and citeh, but will happily take 4 pts + the sight of el sulk sitting on the chavs bench!

Really think Lucas and Adam are developing into a top class midfielda pairin. Thought they were immense today and are a complemented each other tremendously as they've started to show in the last few games. Lucas, wow what a player he@, become. And Adam just looks so confident on the ball. Always wanting it and usually fires a quality pass. Brilliant at switching play long or short passes. Henderson looking a lot more like he feels a Liverpool player now. Willing to be a bit more exspansiveand take a few more chances with his play. Overall we've got a plan A and B and not Just rely on playing four four two to dominate teams as the calibre of Chelsea for to a certain extent but ran out deserved winner's. And today were all and sundry have folded like deck of card's which was never going to happen to this Liverpool teams. Let's not disect each player to much a few observations, hopefully more positive then negative but it shows were we've come being very for being a bit wounded that we're gutted that we've held the supposed champions elect. Getting stronger, unbeaten since Spurs many moon's ago. No doubt with what I see as a Utd team that I don't think It's out of the question we can catch them. Great performance today, shame no winner but teams will fear us again and not see us as a soft touch.
Jonson.

Think with these two in the centre - Gerrard is going to come back on the right (just as he did regularly for Benitez). And when we play 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 he can shift in to the middle.

Agreed jonson. There's a few people on here who have short memories as well.

Every goal keeper playing at anfield seems to be world class at the moment. We are all saying how our strikers are not taking there chances but as soon as we come across a goalie having a bit of a bad day we are going to put 5,6 or 7 past them. We are playing brilliant football at the moment.
It's a shame big andy wasn't given longer today he might of won it for us.

Great performance from us today. If it wasn't for Joe Hart, we could have scored 2, 3 maybe even 4. I can only imagine what people would be saying about Andy Carroll had that header flew in.

Finally, who else agrees, that Lucas was absolutely outstanding today. I think he was our best player by a mile. So many tackles, winning the ball back he was world class today.

27 Nov 2011 18:45:51
All the boys performed really well today. I think if Henderson was replaced by Maxi on the second half we could have the game in our pockets.maxi would come in fresh with pace and Luis would have a bit of assist. Also the opposition defenders would be broken up having attacks from right left and center. a draw is better than a loss. Well done LFC.

You can't say that about Maxi; who knows what would have happened? And what pace has Maxi got?
He might have been fresher than Henderson but I'll bet you Hendo is quicker. I don't get the praise Maxi keeps getting; he's average, at best.
But yes, a draw is better than a loss.
Nice one.

Kuyt was very poor again today

Once again a performance to be proud off. This Man City team have steam rolled anything put in front of them in the premiership - 5 at spurs and 6 at old Trafford. Henderson and downing are still struggling on the ball only due to confidence.
Their work rate off the ball is fantastic. We've now played the other top 5 teams so in theory we can claw up the table as the others have still to play each other.
Lets also enjoy this unbeaten run to and bring on Chelsea again on Tuesday.

27 Nov 2011 18:40:32
Hj guys/gals/eds,please tell me why we didnt bring on carroll a LOT sooner.suarez up front alone is plain stupid they bang him around at every opportunity the same thing happened last week against chelsea, and you guys who tell me henderson is wonderful are full of it,what upsets me is we could and should have won the game, one other point on numerous occasions the ball was crossed and nobody was there except suarez(5ft 8inc) and a bunch of blue shirts the midfield dont follow the ball just watch rooney to see how thats done.draws at anfield are not acceptable and wont get us into the top four where I believe we belong.(godin)

Some people are never happy. Great performance today. I would of liked andy on sooner tho as well, only about the 73rd to 75th minute tho.

MIKEY {Ed002's Note - So you would bring him on and sub him two minutes later, or do you think he could pick up a couple of yellow cards that quickly?}

"draws at anfield are not acceptable".
So what are you going to do? That's not a bad draw against the title favourites and we were unlucky not to win.
The performance was more than acceptable, too.

No ed002 bring him on between the 73rd and 75th minute rather than so late. You know what I mean. :)

PASSENGERS
i love liverpool but im worried about sticking with henderson, he does nothing at all for me, i think if we can afford to carry any passenger it should be a striker someone who will get a goal for us, our midfield is sadly lacking a creative player and playing henderson is a mistake he looks lost and does not add anything at all, i hope gerrard gets fit asap and takes hendersons place and we will fly up the league, just an opinion lads, bob paisleys skids

Couldn't disagree more

Red til dead

He was prob our weakest player today but he still held his own against man city and that's got to be applauded.

MIKEY

Gerrard can replace any better and Liverpool will do better Gerrard is simply the best

We LIVERPOOL fc at this point in time can not afford to carry anybody because we are not good enough, bring him on in the 75 minute if you have to justify buying him.

I am sorry mate,I totally disagree with you.Henderson played his part in a great team performance. We just gave City their hardest prem game and would have thoroughly deserved the three points.I bet you was on Lucas's case a a few yrs back. You want to try some of them lung busting runs hendo makes, that you don't always see on the telly.I have just got back from the match and like every game this season, happy with the effort all the team are producing for the shirt.Lets give Joe Hart the credit and stop picking faults in our own team.
Jiminy Cricket

Another whos eyes are opened what took you so long

Well said Jiminy...the shortsightedness of some of our so called fans is world away from what our club was built on, gr8 effort all we can ask as supporters, and we got, the rest is the managers concern or we would be doin the job instead!

Stop whining... Kenny knows what he is doing! Just say "well done lads" sign your post and f**k off!
(these people annoy me by the way)

Couldnt agree more

I wonder what you lot would say about hendersons performance if liverpool had of lost? he is out of his depth and has only made three tackles since we bought him

27 Nov 2011 18:32:34
Good to see fans being positive about this result as they should be. It was a good performance and with better luck we could have won. I was just sitting there complaining how unlucky we are this year with Kompanys lucky goal off his shoulder when Adam scored.....maybe that was the lucky hoodoo broken as we might have lost that game one nil wearlier on the season. We played well and perhaps with more luck could have scored more goals (story of season).
Question for the eds....Do you really think we need another striker or is it down to bad shooting and luck. I think there is another problem that maybe we havent asked and that is the issue of not enough players in the box. Obviosuly that doesnt count for free kicks and corners but when we break or attack there only evry seems to be one player if that in the box. Maybe this explains why at home when every away team defends like their lives depend on it and we dont get more players quick enough in or around the box why we dont win enough games.
I think someone has put a spell on us this season with how many chances we miss and how well keepers play against us. Last year Downing scored a great volley against us for Villa and this year in almost exact position he never looked like scoring....Lady Luck must be using a dud GPS as she is not there helping us..lol

Well done to the players today I think with all the abuse some players gets from fans these days I think we need to praise them with two big games they had. I just hope Kenny doesnt ruin everything by fiedling a weak team against Chelsea....

RIP Mr Speed

liverpool are going to make a bid for heskey, as they are in need of more attacking options who can take their chances.

~Can't wait for that how much do you think he'll cost?

27 Nov 2011 18:25:53
Happy enough with the result. I would of loved it if Big Andy stuck that header in right at the end! Now I presume Downing only started today as Bellamy withdrew? But he really has to up his game, we all know what he can do, but so far this season 13 games, 0 goals, and more worryingly, 0 assists. With him in form that would add another element to our game (could Andy Carrols lack of goals be down Yo Downings lack of assists?). Reina's sweeper keeper role certainly had my heart in my mouth at certain points but seemed to work. But in the end another case of the away keeper having an absolute blinder. Overall 4 points from Chelsea and City is not a bad return.

Even tho we should have won,i have to say that was a fantastic game of football. As good as joe hart was,m.o.t.m has to be lucas leiva. Thats a performance not even javier masch's best for the reds can match up to. Brilliant. But not to be negative or slate stu downing, but i think that if we started maxi instead,we would have won. He always has a goal in him. 4 out of 6 in the past 2 league games is incredible, especially considering we should have had all 6. This is a special team i think, but we have to start delivering this kind of performance against the smaller teams, starting with fulham(i think). Well done liverpool!

Happy Liverpool forum for a change, with a little bit of luck we would have been 2 points better deservedly, few days back some city fun named all the players that scored against us in a city win 8-0 it must have been some dream for him ;)

27 Nov 2011 18:09:54
well earned point 2day. BUT........
we need an out and out striker, a fox in the box.
too many times today balls put into an empty 6 yard box. ok it may not suit our style of play for 90mins, but a striker that works in and around the 18 yard box we need desperatly.
on a positive all played well against citeh's strongest team. And i feel sorrry for whoever is going to be on the receving end of all our chances one day, one day......

PIDDY

You are spot on its a shame to see suarez getting beat up with no one to share the load.

27 Nov 2011 18:09:36
That is exactly how I feel. We have players working their asses for each other and the club. Thats how it should be!

27 Nov 2011 18:08:27
We're all gutted, but we played fantastically, look at the bright side:

Reina: Magnificent, best keeper in the league..he proved it today

Johnson: Brilliant defending

Agger/Skrtel: Closed them down very well

Enrique: Fabulous performance, up and down the pitch.

Henderson: Showed many flashes of brilliance, he has a very bright future

Kuyt: Could've been better

Downing: Great, great game. Pity he couldn't finish it off in the end.

Adam: IMMENSE, he's getting better every game

Lucas: Man of the match for me, every tackle he made he won the ball

Suarez: Still missing that partner, he'll be back soon

Carroll: Looked sharp in those 6 minutes, reckon he should start against Chelsea

Hi eds, can you shine any light on this rumour, I've hear we are tracking PSV duo georgino wijnaldum and jeremian lens. Anything in this? I'd say two very decent options. Cheers
Hutch {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool in either player. Arsenal, Liverpool, Zenit St Petersburg, Schalke and Real Madrid have all shown an interest in Wijnaldum in the past but all is quiet right now. As for Lens, I appreciate he scored a hat trick recently and the likes of Blackburn, Newcastle and Wolves have shown an interest, I don't know of anything from Liverpool right now.}

27 Nov 2011 18:06:14
Liverpool MOTM: Lucas
Man City MOTM: Joe Hart

'nuff said!

Wouldn't it be better if Hart was MOTM for citeh and Suarez was MOTM for Liverpool

Better said?

27 Nov 2011 18:05:57
Considering the players City have and the dominance they have been this season, I think we was outstanding, clearly the best team by far.
We should won today and that says plenty about our squad and manager

That was a great performance, city got a man sent of but we had henderson not playing for us so it ended up 10 a side, bob paisleys skids

What did Henderson do wrong? For me Kuyt was very disappointing and has been for a while. Not sure why Maxi didn't play and Carroll on sooner.

Henderson was absent he didnt do anything at all

27 Nov 2011 18:05:09
Cant wait for that critical game where we finally start banging in goals, from then on, we will go on a winning spree. It's just a matter of time.

27 Nov 2011 18:03:34
What a match only denied by one of the best keeper in the league.Reina really had to make one save and city only had 3clear chances on goal.Fabulous to see how we defended with 3men when silva had a clear chance.
IF WE play like this all.season we will surely make the top4 and if lucky also top3

Anothe game we could've and should've won but didn't.

Credit to the lads though. 2nd half we really gave citeh a mauling. Don't think i've seen citeh on the rope like that this year. Shame we didn't win it.

And Lucas is soooooo gooood.

Mixed feelings. Quite happy, but yet a bit disappointed.

Oh well. Great effort anyway. At least we didn't get beaten 6-1 at home.:-)

Another shoot goes blazing over by Downling he should just square it carrol unmarkerd , and Henderson , should have been replace in final 15 for Maxi , Team played well but need much more from downing and henderson just not clynical enough bellermy should what to do last week pass to a player in better position

Stop splitting hairs downing showed great desire today i for one am pleased with every one today.

Wonderful full of guts display. All tried there best. Question though, why does Kenny seem to leave the subs til so late? We have depth now, let's use it.

Think we have been great tonite. Very plesed despite the draw

27 Nov 2011 17:59:32
Hi All,

another draw where we should have won but we got to think how unlucky we have been..Norwich, Swansea and Man city and even united keeper made some stunnig saves to draw at anfield.. but in all we looked good against city and with more luck and some better work, we will be in top 4 for sure.. YNWA

I was thinking the same, keepers have blinders against us especially in last few minutes

27 Nov 2011 17:59:17
So unlucky Carroll , we played really well and should of got the 3 points if it weren't for Hart damn!

Ghandi Floss

27 Nov 2011 17:59:14
Shouldve won that but Joe Hart made some life saving saves.

27 Nov 2011 17:59:09
jeeze Stewart Downing....what a joke...3 good chances and f***'d them all up...can't explain my frustration at this moment...once again it was ours to win and we threw it away...at the beginning i would have taken a 1-1 but no...after that we should have won aaaaaggggghhhhh!!!!

FYI Downing had a good game!

SingRed

There is nothing to be disappointed about rearding that performance .

A great spectacle .

Bravo .

1977

Downing could of scored 2 his shooting is terrible, henderson is a passenger in this team, bob paisleys skids

....okey SingRed....what exactly has he done in the game bar 1 semi good cross? Maxi(and i cant believe i'm saying this) should have come on with 30-20 minutes left...on a good note...Lucas Leiva, Daniel Agger, Glen Johnson and Charlie Adam played Fantastic! Hoping where not gonna go now and throw away more crucial points...cause its come to that point where we cant afford to do it anymore!!

You doubters need to relax and grow up , the bigger picture is there for all to see .

The league is only a dozen games in .

No problem .

1977

Obviously you missed his crosses into the box... the fingertip save from hart...his link play with Enrique...pegging back Richards and Milner (he wasn't in the game)...Need I go on?

SingRed

You need not go on , your boring everybody with petty gripes .

Try supporting the team , not complaining about individuals .

Your tune will be changed soon enough .

1977

That's the spirit - the original post is right on the money

Singred - no offence , I'm referring to the Premier League era LFC fans who clearly do not know there history & therefore the potential of this newly modelled great team .

1977

1977 - I was actually telling the nameless OP that Downing had a good game... my comments were not aimed at you

SingRed

Singred - I got my wires crossed when writing my reply . I understood what you meant , I thought you made a good point .

No hard feelings .

Much to look forward to in the next few games , great to be an LFC fan .

1977

27 Nov 2011 17:58:37
Great performance. Credit goes to Joe Hart. I'm speechless really. The entire team did very well apart from a couple of sloppy passes from Enrique and Adam. MOTM goes to Lucas, I hope no one ever slates him from now on. Skrtel gets a 10/10 performance as well. The rest of the team did fantastic. Let's carry this momentum into the future, starting with Chelsea on Tuesday.

Keith YNWA

27 Nov 2011 17:58:37
Man Utd last mins De Gea saves from Henderson. Norwich , Ruddy saves from Suarez - world class save in injury time. Swansea, Vorm great save from Johnson last kick of game. Man City, great save from Hart in last minute from Carroll.

We're not perfect but could have won all those games apart from great saves.

All supporters should be proud of team today - City started better but were happy to escape with point in end - Agger, Reina, Skrtel, Adam great games but Lucas immense best player on pitch.

D 2308

Suarez also should how to be a leader

Agree alot of quality saves in last few minutes

27 Nov 2011 17:57:18
I thought that we put in a good performance overall and our passing was much better than in previous games. Lucas was the man. We should have won that easy and we would of done if it had not been for Joe hart.

I agree - very good performance overall
I think this has been the performance where every player can be happy with his game....yet we still have some moaners..
this is real life..

do you expect every player to do everything right every time??

And aguero etcc the commentators say its a foul before they see the reply whn its suarez they say hes very clever before they see the reply and the ref bias against suarez omg... i's be pulling the same faces if i was him, milner got everything he was acting for yet they say its a foul.

What is operation anfield exercise? You always here it announced during games at anfield

It's what they do to get the crowd to cheer : )

Its a crowd safety procedure introduced post Hillsborough where they practice what to do in the event of a situation requiring all exits to be opened. Whilst its very much appreciated, im sure they could do it via radio. However Im not one to argue with its presence at every home game

Terrible start from Kuyt, 3-4 misplaced passes already!.

Kuyts been our best player so far

Not slating but Kuyt was our worst player. He just doesn't seem to be able to control a ball anymore and has absolutely no pace. Maxi instead of him I would say.

4-3-3
Reina

4-4-2

Kuyt Suarez

Okay Comrades! It's match day and here's how to watch it live for those of you unable to get to the game.

1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every EPL match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.

RED LENIN

Cheers mate- when I tried enabling it, it asked me to give permission for google to monitor all the websites I used.
It's like 'we'll let you see live games, but in return you need to let us track your internet usage.'
Its probably for marketing reasons, but it made me pause.

A great player and will be sadly missed. Deepest sympathy to Garys family, will be sadly missed YNWA

Given Gary's success as a player, his fantastic start to managing Wales, and the respect he was held in throughout the game, this can only be described as truly tragic. Someone who, apparently, had everything to live for. Condolences to all his family and friends from Reds everywhere.

Ed, im having an argument with a mate of mine, who do you think is better, Reina or Casillas? {Ed002's Note - I have no opinion on the matter - no doubt if you ask the Liverpool fans they will say Reina and the Real Madrid fans will say Casillas. On the absis of that I am going to say they are as good as each other.}

I think there both very good keepers and reina is unlucky that casillias plays for real madrid or reina would surely have more caps than he has its close i reckon reina,s a better shot stopper casillias better at crosses id be happy if we had either in goal but i think id just take pep i think he brings more overall only just

Reina is a better diver and kicker
Casillas has better reflexes not sure about handling

Morning all, what a disappointment to see the comments from blue warrior this morning. I was of the opinion that the city fans were obviously delighted at the success they are buying and were keeping their council fairly well and not behaving like big time charlies like the chelsea fans did (no offence meant Ed002).
While the city fans remain modest and realistic and just enjoy the undoubted success that lays ahead for them I will have no problem with them, however if they start to get too big for their boots they will find themselves hated the country over. This is not something to aspire to.
It's a media and fan lead myth that people hate united because of jealousy the fact is that they are hated because of their arrogance and lack of class. The public in general didn't hate Liverpool or arsenal in the same way when they were winning titles and that is because in the main they did it with a certain amount of dignity.
This is something I hope the city fans can do (obviously not the mugs like blue warrior) because if they can't do it they will anger me and may have to be told some home truths.

Chris in Tamworth

They'll be found out when they can only spend what they earn. If they can't even fill their ground every week I don't hold out too much hope.

I read that they're going to sell up to 20 x players in this next season. 20 !
Which bears out what ed002 was saying about FFP.
The Real KB

Great post chris.
The city fans should have a bit of dignity after suffering the lows of relegation and being overshadowed by united for so long. They should realise nothing lasts forever and they might well find themselves plummeting down the tables again in the future. But I doubt "fans" like blue warrior realise this as he has clearly only been a fan since the takeover.
No class. Hope we smash them again today.

MIKEY

Good post Chris, Im sure the vast majority of City fans are decent, There will always be the odd childish supporter who manages to get into print, but doesnt actually reflect the majority of decent supporters. If we win or lose today,as always we will do it with honour and dignity, and I expect the same from City

Tel 1949

Liverpool as a club were widely admired Chris. Our supporters not so much, certainly not by the 80's. For various things, but LFC fans were the cockiest going.
Anybody would have to admit that.
The Real KB

Real KB, admittedly i was supporting LFC from afar in the 80s so I have to bow to your superior knowledge on that but from a distance it certainly didn't feel as if we were "hated" by other fans, at least not in my experience.

Chris in Tamworth

I don't wanna hold myself up as the font of all knowledge on LFC fans Chris, but we were extremely cocky back then. Extremely mate. Especially going to away games. Back then, no CCTV and stuff. I remember going to Villa, and the old man pulled into a services on M6 for petrol. There was dozens of LFC cars in, and no one paid ! Lol, just cars pulling up and driving off mate, whilst the attendant in the shop just stood there aghast. Different times though.
The Real KB

Actually, just thinking now. There was cctv around then, but for some reason this station never had it. Scousers are not exactly slow in that department, and the word was when everyone was pulling in, hey mate, no cctv. Bingo.
It was things like that. Liverpool would take maybe 10,000 away and basically take the place over. It was a laugh at the time, but eventually got us a bit of a bad name.

This is what I expect the starting lineup to be today

Reina
Johnson Agger Skrtel Enrique
Downing Adam Lucas Bellamy
Carroll Suarez

Aintree Red

I expect the lone up today to be
============Reina===========

Johnson==Agger==Skrtel==Enrique

============Lucas===========

=====Kuyt===Adam===Downing===

=========Suarez===Bellamy=====

Chris in Tamworth

This is our best line up right now, unless johnson gets a chance at right midfield and kelly comes in at right back, that would be even better but this is certainly our best line up we could choose. RedTurk

I don't think Kuyt offers us anything playing where he does. I'm pretty sure Carroll will get a start today

I would play Maxi instead of Downing,
Maxi has proved he can score goals
and came in last week and scored against
chelsea.

hi ed
i have heard that liverpool will be signing tevez, villa and alonso is jaunary and then adebayor in summer are these ture {Ed002's Note - Yes, all except Adebayor, but Higuain and Hazard will be arriving in January as well. It is important you keep it to yourself and not tell anyone.}

Bloke in the pub told me exactly the same so time to get excited lads - its gonna happen

cozinoz

Good call Ed002, we've finally got you believing in the dream! lol

Personally, I'm convinced that Messi is going to force through a £350m January transfer to LFC in order to be reconciled with Villa, because he knows Villa is coming here and he feels so guilty about being horrid to him this season.
Be honest with me Ed- can you see this one coming off? I hope the fairies weren't lying to me this time like they did over Aguero and Elvis.

PS- my favourite vegetable is the carrot, if that helps.

Hi eds I must say what a great site you's have. Firstly I'd like to say will people move on with the lavezzi, cavani, tevez rumours. It's becoming really boring now I understand theese are no doubt world class but let's not forget we are in a rebuilding process of the club so players like theese is not gonna happen especially if we don't guarantee champ leauge. More realistic players are the likes of holilet, de Jong, or possibly bent. Thanks eds.

Any of u lads n ladies (and Eds) have any matchday rituals?

I'm not superstitious in that way but I have a mate who is almost obsessive.

Every time I watch our games at his place, we must...

1. Sit in specific designated seats.

2. Drape a Pool home jersey over the back of the couch.

3. Almost always have the same type of chips(which usually go barely touched).

4. Have canned coca cola. Not in glasses, not bottled, must be cans.

4. Have a Red scarf draped over the 42 inch tv.

5. Kitchen lights must be left on.

My mate's a terrific bloke but he's funny like this.

I rmbr I accidentally left the scarf in the car when we watched the game vs sunderland. And when Seb Larsson got them the equaliser, my mate turned to me and said incriminatingly, ''why did u leave the scarf in the car??''. Haha

But having said that, most of the games i've watched at his place where we've stuck to the rituals, Pool has won. It's not been that many tho, cos he lives a fair distance from me and the games end late (like 2am) here in singapore.

Any other ppl have rituals?

Singapore Red

Btw, my 3 fave players are kelly, lucas and gerrard.:-)

I always take my beach ball to the match.

I always play the fixture out on FIFA lol sad I no!

Square tomato

I wont change my position on the sofa/barstool if we are winning (however uncomfortable I might be). Sometimes the opposition scoring comes as a relief :)
Also, I have to watch all matches live on tv instead of replays or highlights as I'm smart enough to know I can't influence the outcome of a recorded match.

cozinoz

I always give the missus a good seeing to before a game. If we win, she gets to wash up;-)

I wear the same pair of underpants from the first game of the season until the last game.

What's wrong with that ?
Red with white piping too. Or they were..!

well 6 hour time difference here and bars open till 4am. I'm going to see my mates band with a group of friends. Most of them birds so here's another $120 BAR TAB. I'll be home by 2.30 and sleep till 8. Breakfast and out again for the game at 10 our time. Another mate runs a bar and he's a big LFC fan so we've made it an early opening for all games we're in. About 7-8 of us usually but no wait for a Guinness. Can't wait. Red jersey tomorrow, no name but No. 5 and 5 European Cups sown in above it. I also have the black kit with No. 18. That's my game day ritual. I always go out the night before even if we're playing at Noon (6am our time)

Enjoy!

{Ed001's Note - Suarez? Not for me, his diving and whining annoys me, I am old school and hate that kind of attitude. Just get on with the game and if they kick you, kick them back, if the ref doesn't give you a foul get up and get on with it because the ball might break into a scoring chance while you are whining.}

I agree Ed, don't get me wrong I love the little fella he is a genius with the ball, but if he just got up and got on with it rather than whining and throwing his hands in the air and gesturing towards the Ref he might get more decisions go his way, or as you say ed kick the b*******s back!

P.S my 3 favorite players are Lucas,Agger and reina

Aussie red

And u always moan about people slating our own player

KOPBOB {Ed001's Note - hardly slating him is it?}

It's not really slating him just general discussion, I could probably speak for most people when I say he does moan to much BUT he is an excellent player and I'm glad to have him wearing the red of Liverpool.

Aussie red

Without suarez we wouldnt be where we are (challenging for 3rd). and you can forget about saying kenny will have made us.

I agree, hate his diving and whining. However, I thought that he made a conscious effort during the Chelsea match to stay on his feet and not whine. I was very impressed and either one of the players/management have had a word and made him buck up his ideas and get on with football.

My fave 3 LFC players at the moment are :

Pepe Reina - a Character with undeniable ability .

Charlie Adam - He reminds me of an advanced 'Ronald Koeman' , supreme ability improving in every game (cut from the Mcmahon , Whelan & Molby cloth) .

Martin Kelly - The sight of him going byline to byline , playing one two's , crossing on the run , crossing first time , checking onto his left and delivering crosses and generally playing on the burst from defence at 6ft 3" , appears to me to be a phenomenom .

ed i want to know more abt you mate, if thats ok.. how long have you been doing this? i love this site! my university exams are going on in india.. but i spend most of my time reading and posting here! cheers! YNWA! {Ed001's Note - well I started the original football-rumours site over 10 years ago now. My then missus was pregnant with my daughter and I was working shifts so unable to get to the matches. I was lost without football, so when me mate was doing a college course to learn how to make websites and was looking for an idea of what to do, I suggested a football one. Ten years later and we are still going!}

Thanks for replying to that ed.. i m the same one who asked abt ur 3 fav. players.. keep it going ed! love it! i want to come to the uk, to pursue post grad studies in sports management! john moores is high on the list! i cant wait to go watch a match live at anfield!! is my dream! win or lose i dont care! just the atmosphere and my fav. club! i want to sing YNWA at full tilt! cheers mate! {Ed001's Note - I do miss going, but most of the lads I know who used to go regularly have had to give up their tickets because of the cost too. I worry it would not be the same going any more.}

I m sure its something i cant fathom being from india.. the atmosphere! have been to most of the cricket matches here in chennai, but liverpool at anfield! 45000! cant wait! btw, i sense a downing goal today! just wait and see!
balaji raman {Ed001's Note - I hope you do get the opportunity to see a match, it is something special, to actually be there. Nothing else quite compares.}

Thanks ed! great chatting wid you.. my pre match routine here involves, 1st getting my liverpool jersey on.. pray before the match.. sit in one position throughout the match till the final whistle blows(very superstitious)..
lets pray for a win tonite! :) YNWA {Ed001's Note - I am very superstitious too! If I am wearing a top and we win, I won't wear that top again, or wash it, until the next time we play. I will keep just wearing it for matches until we lose. I remember when we had the green and white quartered shirt, I went to my then girlfriend's parents for Sunday lunch and spilt some gravy on it. We won the match, so I refused to allow her to wash it and we went on a big, long unbeaten run going top of the league. After a few months, the ex decided to wash the shirt while I was out and we lost the next match. I have never, nor will ever, forgive her for that.}

I am also superstitious when we were playing Chelsea my friend wanted to close the blind and I shouted Sit Down don't touch them keep them that way we just scored u will give us bad luck, and we won. Ed is this what u do for a living or is there something else and how have u got all this footballing knowledge? Hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - I have other websites as well as this one, so sort of, it is American sports that make the money so I can spend my time on here! I am just obsessed with football, I have always been lucky in that people will talk to me, where ever I go it is the same. I used to think it was a curse, but it has made me so many friends and contacts over the years that I now realise I am very lucky. Well most of the time anyway. Not so lucky when you are sat waiting for a coach and some bird is sat next to me telling me her life story and how her sister has just ran away with her hubby etc etc. But most of the time it is very lucky.}

You just must have one of those faces ha {Ed001's Note - I suppose it is better than one of those faces everyone wants to punch!}

Would you say your face was diferrent to everyone else, does it look strange when you look in the mirror. are you a sexy man? are you 'special' lol {Ed001's Note - mirror? I don't have any of those, can't bear the 7 years bad luck every time I look in one....}

hey ed, who is your most favorite 3 players from our current squad? ynwa! greetings from india! {Ed001's Note - Carragher, Lucas and Adam, yours?}
----------------------------------------- What's your opinions on Gerratd then ed? On and off the field? :) {Ed001's Note - they have been discussed enough on here I think, I don't like Gerrard as a person.}

I thought gerrard was a proper role model until i seen a program on tele about his carreer after champion league final bfore the 2006 world cup, hes not a nob head or anything, hes a bit cocky, big headed. i remember one scene were some kid fan shouts 'alright' to him while gearrard drives past, gerrard looks at the camera and says something which i felt took the piss out the little kid... i watched it a long time ago, changed my views on gerrard anyway, used to think he was perfect lol, hes still my heroe
