Gini was awesome, our reserve fullbacks great, keep it going redmen!

Well said Leyland! Amazing game.

28 Aug 2017 04:59:58
never thought I'd say this but full backs are the two positions I'm not concerned about at all. TAA, Gomez, Moreno all proving a point and Robertson looks good going forward. Clyne's going to have serious concerns about playing time now.

27 Aug 2017 23:47:23
Emre Can reminded me of a young Lothar Matthaus or a Michael Ballack -real Rolls Royce performance.

Need this lad to be the engine room in our midfield for the future!

As an aside, am no fan of Gary Neville - but when he said this Arsenal side need a battering it did make me laugh!

Believable6 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 02:37:49
I was thinking the same, he is looking like young ballack. He is yet to Play this way for long time, but i think he is finally growing Up and showing what he can become in. I really Hope he reconsider staying at Anfied.

28 Aug 2017 04:27:18
I've though Ballack for a while now too. Doesn't have the long shots perhaps but moves like a Rolls Royce and combative in midfield while starting to add goals and late runs into the box to his game. Looking more and more like a guaranteed starter, don't need Keita unless we sell Coutinho.

28 Aug 2017 05:02:40
Can has that touch of class and elegance to his game. He moves with the ball so fluently and watchers have the confidence he will not lose it too easily. Our best midfielder by a mile and I'm ashamed that the thought of even cashing in on him this summer came to my mind.
He is better than Arsenal and Everton's entire midfield put together.

27 Aug 2017 23:37:53
Three theories about the odd choice to drop Migs today:
1. He's going to be sold - this is possible and would explain why Ward had stayed at the club but with Klopp saying Migs is still number one then I think it's unlikely.
2. Klopp's playing at tactics - the game plan today was to play deep and strike on the counter. Karius is (supposedly) better than Migs on the ball so should have been better choice for playing out from the back or launching a quick counter. I think it's possible that Klopp would choose the best goalkeeper for a particular game but it doesn't explain why Migs wasn't even on the bench.
3. Klopp's playing mind games - Migs' firm had always been best after being dropped, it happened under Rodgers and it happened last season. This was Klopp keeping the pressure on Migs after a drop in his standards this season. I think this actually is a possibility.
Bonus theory - Migs was dropped because Klopp doesn't think he's any good.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

28 Aug 2017 00:46:35
Maybe migs will be a cup keeper and Karius the league keeper.

28 Aug 2017 01:50:00
Weird one eh. I reckon klopp sees karius as the future but migs form last season earned him the shout so far. This decision also sees ward a step closer to the gloves and maybe he's being slowly integrated. Can't see SM being sold, we need 3 keepers.

28 Aug 2017 08:23:48
Maybe Migs playing woefully and undermining the entire defence with his jitters is why he has been dropped?

28 Aug 2017 09:12:01
What about "he may be injured"

28 Aug 2017 10:03:47
He may have been up all night to watch the May weather v mcgregor fight.

{Ed025's Note - yeah supermane, i cant believe the mcgregor supporters thought he could actually win the title....remind you of anyone?..

27 Aug 2017 23:15:45
Would like to echo some of the posts on here this afternoon by saying I hope we get Can to sign a new contract.
He really is starting to establish himself. He is decent on both feet, has great stamina and covers well, plus he drives forward with such conviction.
He has played some outstanding stuff the last few weeks and towards the end of last season. Some really dominant performances and decent creativity too. On current form I would prefer to keep him in CM with Lallana or Couts (if he's still here) .

1st time poster. But, what a performance. We appear to have, from nowhere, genuine depth at fullback, and midfield all sang in tune. Moreno has had his doubters, but what a mature and measured performance. He has had an accomplanished start to the season, and proved many wrong. We should applaud that, and his attitude. Go on son. Who ever needed Mendy?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 08:08:30
Moreno was good yesterday but has been shaky in every other game this season. Don't let one good performance and a great result cloud your judgement, the lad is a liability.

28 Aug 2017 08:36:45
Hes not the finished article, but this is the 3rd time this season i've heard somebody say "don't judge on one good performance" or something to that effect. Give the guy a break.

27 Aug 2017 23:00:20
Just watching match of the day. I didn't realise emre had run from our goal to support salah when he scored. He looked really fast kept up with salah and mane. Good on him.

I don't know why, but I truly believe come Thursday deadline day there's going to be some shocking Transfers, ones that will leave us scratching our heads.
If you believed two seasons ago that a player would be brought for 200million we'd of laughed, but it's happened.
Teams seem to be going crazy and i've never seen so many big names move in one summer. Or rumoured to be moving, every high and upcoming player has been linked with a move away from their respective clubs.
I really can't wait to see who signs who.
I'd love all teams to strengthen it'll make the fight for the title bring so many top teams competing for it, instead of two or three of the same teams challenging every year.
This is why I love the Premier League.
Any team can win it.
This season is going to be extremely exciting and I believe we have just as much chance as any one.
(God help us with injuries, but fingers crossed)
Here's to a bright future ahead, may everyone enjoy their season.

"Any team can win it. "

Every team except Arsenal of course.

27 Aug 2017 22:32:55
Love TAA and I think he will continue his development into a top player for us.

But I've gotto say I'm a big Gomez fan. I saw him play in the pre season game in Dublin and he just looked class. Glided around the field, great movement off the ball to close off danger areas. Really liked what I saw of him live.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 23:08:59
When do Eds think he'll get a chance at centre back (if at all)?

{Ed002's Note - the issue is lack of experience there at premier league level.}

28 Aug 2017 01:07:49
I personally would stick with gomes and Clyne at RB. Get rid of milner and let trent battle with grujic for that MF position. Weather it be from the bench or starting.

{Ed001's Note - why not get rid of Clyne rather than Milner? As a back up off the bench, Milner is a great player to have, if overpaid. Clyne offers absolutely nothing but a body on the pitch for the ball to bounce off.}

28 Aug 2017 02:40:02
Gomez would make a half decent RB too. Maybe sell Clyne and have TAA and Gomez fight over the RB position?

28 Aug 2017 07:23:18
Great shout Ed. Milner offers as much in midfield that Clyne does it defence but milner would be the better RB for me.

27 Aug 2017 22:11:00
Only 6 clean sheets in last 7 premier league games now. Klopp really needs to sort that problem defence!

Believable10 Unbelievable2

27 Aug 2017 23:09:39
You and your 'facts' 1jj
Lol.

27 Aug 2017 23:29:44
We can't defend 😉.

27 Aug 2017 23:52:33
Arsenal had a few good chances. They were just woeful. Our defense is still far from convincing. Gomez and Moreno look better by the game. Gomez deserves more game time.

28 Aug 2017 00:15:03
While the facts speak for themselves, whenever the ball is in or around the area, I have my head in my hands.
Even the fans were applauding when Karius belted the ball up the pitch, but was probably in relief than anything else.

28 Aug 2017 03:22:16
Karius was shockingly neglectful with his overly-delayed kicks, but at least he looked confident coming out to punch the ball away. His farting around with the ball at his feet is easily fixable, he just had one of those days.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, he did stop dallying on the ball in the 2nd half and just cleared it quickly.}

28 Aug 2017 06:05:55
Well, except that one moment in the second half when he did it for the third (! ) time. Apparently, Klopp was pleading with the fans to get off his case after both of the first two incidents. After the third, however, even he stood there glaring at him.

{Ed001's Note - yes, right at the start it happened once but he didn't do it again and it was clear he listened to instructions about that because the previous times he just shrugged it off. That time he held his hand up apologised and never did it again. It is not such a bad thing to make those mistakes early, because you learn by your mistakes. Or should do anyway. So hopefully he has now learnt that there just is not time for the keeper to wait for a run to pick out, he has to play the ball quickly, regardless of what is going on in front of him.}

27 Aug 2017 21:59:42
Everyone talking about how bad Arsenal were.
All the experts discounted Liverpool for a top 4 finish even at the start of the season.
But unless they are Liverpool fans they don't see how strong our young guns are coming. Gomez, TAA, Grugic, Solanke. These are giving real strength to our squad. When we are playing 2 games a week everyone will see how good they are.

Believable18 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 22:56:14
we started great last season and had a dip in form, and scraped 4th,

Thats why the squad has to be deepened with similar quality to the starting 11 from last year.

we desperately need to improve the defensive part of the squad.

Imo we need 2 centre halfs and a genuine holding midfielder.

I hope Ward is good enough as the other 2 seem to breed uncertainty through the defence.

27 Aug 2017 21:54:09
After watching Emre Can since he came back last season, I wonder how many of the fans on here and in the stands are willing to admit that they were a bit early giving him abuse. Given the player he is turning into. I also wonder if we had supported him during his tough time and showed some understanding if he would be pondering his options, I for one don't think he would have had any issues signing if he didn't get any abuse from some fans.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

27 Aug 2017 22:22:29
The club must do all they can to get him to resign I think he is and could be a very important player for the club.

27 Aug 2017 22:40:04
Resign or re-sign?

27 Aug 2017 23:52:54
A bit early giving him abuse?
There should be absolutely no abuse aimed at your own players.
We are supposed to be "supporters" no?
Supporters are supposed to support, not abuse - it's disgusting behaviour.
If they make a mistake, you're entitled to show your frustration of course but you should never abuse one of our own players.

27 Aug 2017 21:43:27
Hi Ed, Jason Burt (Daily Telegraph) says LFC contacted Monaco re Thomas Lemar, fee up to £60m. Have u heard this? Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - If they have it would have to be since I left them on Friday morning.}

27 Aug 2017 21:58:52
What about gelson martins? Does interest remain?

{Ed002's Note - As a Salah replacement? Or Mane?}

27 Aug 2017 21:37:14
Ed002, do you happen to know (or have heard anything) what the sticking points are with Can and his contract? Seems to most reasonable observers that he's a big talent and his stock is on the rise and that the club should move hell and high water to get him to sign if.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - No but it would be reasonable to assume it is the standard "game time" issue that many clubs are finding issue with.}

27 Aug 2017 22:04:12
Cheers Ed. These things are pretty intangible aren't they? I know there was always the rumour of Glen Johnson's 'if he's fit he plays' clause, but they don't really happen do they?

{Ed002's Note - I am not talking about clauses in the contract.}

27 Aug 2017 22:13:20
He's playing regular at the moment and given his current form should continue to play on a regular basis. Hopefully should that be the case it'll be enough to convince him to sign a new contract with us. Would be a real shame to lose a young player with so much potential. I think most of us myself included can be guilty of judging and righting players off too quickly. Amazing how quickly we change our tune! Here's hoping Emre signs a new contract.

27 Aug 2017 23:03:41
at the moment he is a vital member of the team and for me should be made captain,

If he keeps performing like this game time will be the least of his worries.

28 Aug 2017 02:49:46
Why on earth should he be captain? A great start to the season by Emre but let's not get carried away.

27 Aug 2017 21:19:12
Hi eds and reds, great team performance and result today.

We're being linked to Thomas Lemar of Monaco any truth in these rumours?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

27 Aug 2017 21:45:54
Arsenal moved heaven and earth to try to sign him and he did not budge. Lemar is staying at Monaco, mate.

27 Aug 2017 21:54:12
60M offer per The Telegraph. Cover for Lallana? Also chatter that the player's preference is ManU. Not sure why some of these players do not want to come here and play this style?

27 Aug 2017 21:18:40
Linked with Lemar now, surely unlikely and would only suggest an exit for Coutinho?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Or Salah?}

27 Aug 2017 21:46:14
Lemar is staying at Monaco, mate.

27 Aug 2017 22:05:28
I was fully expecting it to be far fetched, 2-: just being reported.

Last thing we need is another midfielder, Grujic hasn't even been tried properly and Can is unhappy with game time yet after another midfielder. Think we have more depth than most think, but need the chance to show it. Look at TAA now!

27 Aug 2017 21:11:34
its frightening how good salah can be for us, he could have easily had a hat-trick, a brilliant purchase, speaking of purchases what will Tuesday bring I wonder?

Believable12 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 21:23:29
Was gutted we missed him the first time, glad we didn't make that mistake again. He's clearly grown as a footballer. Salah and Mane or Sanchez and Oxlade Chamberlain? Not really a competition is it?

27 Aug 2017 21:08:33
Unfortunately the Klopp bashers here are having to keep quiet recently. Feel sorry for them.

Believable15 Unbelievable4

27 Aug 2017 21:20:25
Hope Klopp decides against signing Oxlade Chamberlain, that was a typical performance for him. Certainly not better run by anyone at the club. He can go to Chelsea and warm their bench.

27 Aug 2017 21:35:54
I doubt whether Ox would even make our bench.

27 Aug 2017 21:43:18
You would have said that about gini. Maybe he see's something in him.

27 Aug 2017 21:47:34
Got to trust in Klopps judgement of a player. If he sees something in Ox that he can work with then that's good enough for me.

27 Aug 2017 21:50:41
Was Ox even playing today? I'm sure his apologists and cheerleaders will come on back here and convince us that Ox is a "great option to have".

27 Aug 2017 22:04:54
Bingored well I doubt people will change their opinion of a player based on one game, that would be incredibly fickle. If Klopp sees something in him, who are we to judge? I think He's been mismanaged by wenger and I think Klopp can get the best out of him if he chooses. 1 poor team performance by Arsenal won't change that opinion.

27 Aug 2017 22:05:05
A great option if we want someone to be anonymous and poor in possession.

27 Aug 2017 23:15:54
The managers job is to see potential in a players attributes, maybe not being used to their full potential in a team that plays a certain way.

Ox has all the attributes that Klopp likes in a player. He is in the final year of his contract, so it makes financial sense as well .

His performance today was the same as the rest of his team at Arsenal where there is something big, very wrong,

27 Aug 2017 20:50:45
From a die hard spurs fan, I think your team is an absolute joy to watch with the fast counter attacking football and I'm so glad I had my hard earned drinking money on Liverpool to win the league at a massive 14/ 1.

Believable27 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 21:15:12
Quality people those Spurs fan's always said it.

27 Aug 2017 21:21:11
Cheers mate. Wish you guys well for the season (except against us! ) .

27 Aug 2017 21:39:16
Agree Barry, if we don't win the league, I hope they do.

27 Aug 2017 21:52:14
Have a great season, Raver but you won't be beating us this season tho, esp. not at Wembley as historically, we still own the lease on that building.

27 Aug 2017 22:29:37
Are you not ment to be at steingfellows now raver thinking about the gooners. Nice of you to drop by.

27 Aug 2017 20:44:16
I think Salah and Mané are doing a good job covering defensively. They don't just goal hang up top but they help out at the back and from those positions are able to start counter attacks. Good all round game for both.

Believable14 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 21:53:48
Agreed, Razor. Klopp does not do passengers. If you are not an attacking option, you must be a defensive option. You cannot just be jugging when you lose the ball otherwise, you will be shown the door. Just ask Benteke.

28 Aug 2017 03:09:35
Benteke didn't even jog. He just stood there!

27 Aug 2017 20:42:40
Hope to God Emre Can signs a new contract.

Believable16 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 21:08:28
Priority has to be to offer him a contract that he clearly deserves and that he has to be one of the first names on the team sheet.

27 Aug 2017 21:29:22
Man of the match. Take a bow Emre 👏.

27 Aug 2017 21:37:39
Ahh we agree completely on one thing Ron.

27 Aug 2017 21:56:20
Emre is becoming the player we all wanted him to be and I'm happy we never gave up on him in his low moments as many on here wanted him gone. Now, we are now in a fight to keep him and I hope we do keep him. Give him whatever he wants right now as it will be a huge dereliction of duty to let him go.

27 Aug 2017 22:28:14
No need to 'hope to God' he's a club ambassador now, just ask him.

28 Aug 2017 00:31:56
Carra hit the nail on the head today saying that we've tried to sign a midfielder for £60/ £70 mill this summer and in his last few performances Emre Can is starting to play like that 60/ 70 million player. The club have let themselves get into this sticky situation once again (ala mcmanaman) . The lads getting better and better with each season, he's highly thought of around Europe and very highly thought of in the German national side. I don't think its verbal reassurances he wants persay but more of feeling the love maybe, being made to feel important by the club and maybe klopp

And btw that attacking 5 we have at the moment in salah, mane, Bobby, Can and gio are going to really terrorise teams this year then add pip, Lallana, sturridge and solanke into the mix and we could be looking at a new goals scored record this season.

28 Aug 2017 08:26:03
Emre's problem has been lack of consistency which could be attributed in part to a run of niggling injuries which he tried to play through.
If he plays like he did yesterday on a consistent basis he would have no problem about 1st team assurances, he'd be "undroppable".

27 Aug 2017 20:28:57
Klopp says Simon will start 100% vs city - why? Surely Karius should have his spot until he loses it, then ward? Why stick with mignolet?

Believable5 Unbelievable5

27 Aug 2017 21:39:57
On todays performance Karius has already lost his spot. Or are we just ignoring the 2 incidents where he messed up by thinking he was a fancy footed outplayer.

27 Aug 2017 21:57:09
And we're back.

27 Aug 2017 22:00:41
More no, how has he lost his spot? He had nothing to do bar the one cross that he dealt with with aplomb and authority. He may have had a couple of moments where he seemed to back himself too much BUT he conceded NO goals and made NO mistake and kept a clean sheet. But clearly, that is not enough for you ar are you just trying to kick up a fuss for no reason?

27 Aug 2017 22:43:42
Someone remind me why Karius was withdrawn from first team, wasn't it something to do with fans jumping on the lad every chance they got? And oeople are on here wondering why players don't want to sign fir the club? I wonder why.

27 Aug 2017 22:51:30
Why did either one lose their spot? It could simply have been rotation. We see it enough with the other players, don't we? In fact, it seemed to me that Karius had already been told that he was in for only one game and that it was a rotation. Is there any other logical explanation for the casual footwork that could have been catastrophic?

27 Aug 2017 20:24:56
Bit quiet on the keita sarga, surely he's found a house by now, I seen reports he was going to be announced today, obviously not happening.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He played today.}

27 Aug 2017 20:58:52
I mean on us supposedly signing him.

{Ed002's Note - His game is over, maybe they will announce him this evening?}

27 Aug 2017 23:07:22
One could only wish.

27 Aug 2017 20:09:35
Hey Eds and macca

Is it out of the question for emre to sign a contract between now and it expiring as I think he has been superb since the start of the season .

Would be gutted if we lost him on a free because he is becoming some player absolute midfield engine

Would appreciate a reply eds
Many thanks.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - of course not.

27 Aug 2017 21:27:35
He has "reportedly" agreed to sign for Juventus.
Hope that isn't true.

27 Aug 2017 19:42:17
Didn't see the game today. Obviously fantastic result, just wondering how the back 4 did as individuals and as a team
Thoughts .

Believable3 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 20:33:36
they really didn't have much to do. Moreno keeps on playing well both forward and backtracking. Gomez is as usual strong defensively but was also good going forward got an assist. Matip Lovren did ok as i said earlier not much to do for em.

27 Aug 2017 20:46:27
Matip and Gomez were solid. Lovren improved on recent showings. Moreno still a little suspect at times but promising signs of improving defensive awareness and tackling ability with every game ATM. Joe and Moreno got forward well. All this said Arsenal didn't really test any of them seriously.

27 Aug 2017 20:50:23
Was at the match. Mane and Salah were a constant menace. Can, Henderson and Wijnaldum bossed midfield. Moreno had a decent game.

For those interested, Oxlade Chamberlain was utter toilet. £35'000'000 footballer? Pfft. Not even a £35.00 footballer.

27 Aug 2017 20:56:56
Matip 9/ 10, Lovren 7-8/ 10, Gomez 7-8/ 10, Moreno 7-8/ 10. Looked decent together. Matip lent support to Gomez at crucial times, Lovren and Moreno had some 50/ 50 tackles go their way. Gomez got a card, should have had a freekick just before.

Were some moments of short passing that made me nervous, and one or two set pieces that caused panic. But overall a fine display.

27 Aug 2017 22:04:34
The whole team had a solid outing and Karius bar twice when he backed himself too much while playing out of the back, made no mistakes, dealt with a dangerous cross with authority and kept a clean sheet. All that being said, Arsenal offered nothing the whole game and had 8 shots, none on target. As for the Ox, if anyone signs him for 35m with 180k a week in wages, needs to be put in a straight jacket and get his/ her head examined thoroughly. What a waster!

27 Aug 2017 19:39:28
Got myself tickets for the game today with my brother!

Fantastic performance and really great atmosphere.

Arsenal were very poor but we were unplayable on the counter attack and looked very very good.

I have to say I felt for Karius today in net, crowd got on his back a bit but he was helping himself with some of his overly relaxed play

Ps - We usually sit in the kop which is always enjoyable but had main stand today - really nice 👍🏼.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 22:05:56
Why were the fans getting on his back? Where they rooting for him to fail or goading him into a mistake so they can slate him? Pathetic!

27 Aug 2017 19:36:44
I'm not a hendo basher in general but since he's come back from injury he's been dreadful on the ball. He's been fairly good off it but he's trying to go forward too quickly with aimless or hopeful balls to nowhere far too often just count the 15 or so "passes" in the first half. He was really important today though and was excellent in winning the ball back and generally pressuring their midfield.

Believable2 Unbelievable10

27 Aug 2017 19:56:26
Admittedly in the first 15 minutes he was poor on the ball but thought he was absolutely excellent afterward that initial period.

27 Aug 2017 20:05:42
Thought Hendo played a real Captains role today and was excellent!

27 Aug 2017 20:16:59
Was at the game today hendo was class.

27 Aug 2017 20:59:01
What game was you watching? He was outstanding today. pressed well, passed well, tackled well and lead by example.

27 Aug 2017 21:10:19
He was a real leader today, got stuck in and did everything brilliantly. Him Can and Wijnaldum bossed it today. They need to do that every game.

27 Aug 2017 21:29:39
I was you know actually watching rather than glossing over what happened by making comments like he did everything excellent when he clearly didn't. Watch it again. See him give the ball away countless times in the first half with first time "passes" or "hoofs" forward. Watch it. Agree with me and appologise :) I'll accept it because it's okay to change your mind after seeing new evidence that you clearly missed first time round.

27 Aug 2017 21:43:45
Jezza it's unfair to call them "Hoofs", they were mostly eityer crosses or picking out runners. Agree he found his range more as the game went on, but it seems like he'll get slated on here no matter what he does. If he doesn't try longer passes, which will always have mixed success, then he will be critised for only passing sideways.

27 Aug 2017 22:08:53
Jezza, Hendo did let a few passes go astray bUT to say he was awful is a bit far fetched. He had a more than solid outing and pressed the life out of Arsenal's midfield while offering protection to the defence. He is still trying to regain full fitness and today's perf definitely helped him.

27 Aug 2017 23:00:47
I love comedians. They really make me laugh. And it brightens up the atmosphere on this site. (How else do you explain "I'm not a basher" while in the act of bashing? ) . LOL.

27 Aug 2017 19:32:40
Do you people agree with me that Karius played well today? He decisively came out of his line twice to punch the ball away. As to the mistakes when kicking the ball, I think he just was too relaxed and keen to show how good he is with his feet.

Believable9 Unbelievable7

27 Aug 2017 19:49:44
It's hard to judge when he's given so little real work. He dealt with the two set piece threats decisively and effectively, but he cannot dwell on the ball like that, and I think he always has an inclination to take risks in his play (it happened a couple of times in pre-season too) .

And considering he's technically pretty good, it's not like he actually needs to take touches.

Still, if it were up to me I'd continue with him. Will be interesting to see what Klopp does.

27 Aug 2017 19:51:40
He's a hot mess mate. Luckily Arsenal was listless today.

27 Aug 2017 19:54:11
I thought he was very commanding with the crosses he had to deal with, the only issue was his footwork when he almost got caught a couple of times.

27 Aug 2017 19:54:34
i agree for the most part, I think he tried way too hard to impress but I thought he commanded the box on the two punches that you reference.

27 Aug 2017 19:58:25
I was thinking the same just now. He's got negative press for the faffing about but he was decisive when it came to the couple of punches.

27 Aug 2017 20:05:40
What game were you watching? The other 10 were fantastic though.

27 Aug 2017 20:19:22
You would hope after the first time he would've had some urgency on the ball but the guy was too chilled out, ironically the exact opposite of how us fans felt at the same time.

27 Aug 2017 20:29:37
Didn't have a shot to deal with . Can't judge him! Two good punches though!

27 Aug 2017 20:40:47
I don't know, I'm not sure that he showed he'd learned lessons from last season. I mean it's bad enough he nearly messed up in the 1st half, but to do it twice more in the second half?! He wasn't helped by he ball back the third time but still, same unforced errors. Be interesting what klopp's plans are though, who will be in the sticks against city and what is he going to do with ward.

27 Aug 2017 20:41:32
I think because he seems to like to play the 'sweeper keeper' role, he wants to play out if the box with his feet. The trouble is in the EPL you get much less time on the ball so he is always being hurried, which either leads to a poor clearance or a pass putting another player under pressure. I think someone needs to have a word. Crosses he was more decisive today, but personally I'd like to see him catch a few balls instead of punching them all. I think he will find things easier when he has a solid back 4 in front of him. There will be fewer nerves and mistakes, but he must cut his out as well.

27 Aug 2017 20:45:08
He was decent with his hands and poor with his feet. Which is the opposite of Mignolet. But as a keeper I know which one I would prefer. If he has too just stick it in row z when it's at his feet. He dealt with the 2 punches very well. Commanded the box for them and got good power and distance on both. Again something that Mig doesn't do.

27 Aug 2017 21:09:08
Idiotic replies from a bunch of so called Liverpool supporters.

We are a hell of a good team.

27 Aug 2017 21:39:36
One of Mings main flaws is his footwork and kicking, I've a feeling Karius was trying to show his foot skills and over egged it.
Over all I felt better with him in goal today.
If Mings does go I'll wish him well but feel the two we have will easily replace him.

27 Aug 2017 22:13:25
A bit too early to judge him as he had no shlots to deal with. His distribution is way better than Migs and that is a fact, known since he arrived. He tried to do too much and he'd better learn from that as the EPL does not allow time for relaxing. He made no mistakes, looked commanding in his area and dealt with the two crosses with authority as well as keeping a clean sheet. All positives, in my book NUT he will have more difficult days in the future if he indeed gets the start next time at City.

28 Aug 2017 08:31:31
Can't comment on it.
No shots to save and Arsenal had 2 corners and not many free kicks. Just a great team performance in front of him.

27 Aug 2017 19:30:40
Mane reminds me of a young Robben but with more speed, skill, upside, and potential.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 19:57:52
Mane and Salah are going to give teams all kinds of fits all season. They are so fun to watch. Those two with Firmino are scarey good together. I'd love to see Draxler with them.

27 Aug 2017 22:34:37
I'd just rather all 3 just stayed injury free.

27 Aug 2017 19:22:29
My take on things.
4 wins and a draw from 5 games is nearly perfection.
Bit shaky from Karius at times, but we'll see how he gets on from here.
Better display from Lovren and wow, without overplaying it, how much better does Moreno look this season?
We look stronger on the right flank with Gomez and TAA than we have looked with Clyne for a long time. I think perhaps he may find himself 3rd choice before long.

Excellent display from the midfield 3, with Can looking particularly strong. More of the same please.

I won't mention the front 3 because I couldn't say anything that hadn't been said already.
Brilliant. Simply brilliant.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 19:58:32
Moreno is like a new signing.

27 Aug 2017 20:26:31
Gomez in particular had a great game and got forward well while shutting down Welbeck for most of the day. Definitely shows our growth as a squad that players like Gomez can come in and perform when they are asked to.

27 Aug 2017 20:35:59
I can't help but like the lad. I know he has the odd (or more than a few! ) defensive howlers in him, but you have to be impressed with his effort. He puts 100% into everything.

27 Aug 2017 20:37:18
Still trying to tackle on the wrong side too often, still a bit too hotheaded on occation. But better than I'd seen him in a real game. Might give Robbo a run for the spot after all.

27 Aug 2017 21:49:59
Sufficient form.

27 Aug 2017 22:17:40
I thought Karius was very authoritative in his dealing with the two dangerous crosses he had to deal with even tho, he backed himself too much on the two occassions he tried to play out of the back, as that is his strong point, really. He made no mistakes, was very vocal and kept a clean sheet in his first start of the season in a big game. All in all, positives for him and great team perf, all round.

27 Aug 2017 19:21:39
Just wanted to add to everyone's glowing reports from todays match. in particular though i wanted to praise Henderson who not many people are mentioning.

When he plays we look so much better and having him and can is a solid combo in the middle of the park. Henderson's work rate was great and he moves play around well and can put in a great shift with some solid tackles and some lovely through balls.
Gomez i thought was excellent too.
Karius i still have concerns over. many have been saying for a while now to drop migs and play him, but for me he scares me everytime he has played. looks almost immature!
But, great game and even Moreno was good, so that's something to behold.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 20:35:25
Are u serious about Hendo. Is that quality you happy with. Not arguing about his work rate of the ball. With it is not nearly as the good as what we need in that position. We need a more technivally skilled player there. He may better further up the pitch but deffinately not as a DM.

27 Aug 2017 22:21:21
Gareth, Karius had next to nothing to do, all game bar two crosses he gobbled up in the box with authority. He may have been a bit too relaxed trying to play the ball out of the back twice BUT The kid made no mistakes and kept a clean sheet. So how was he shaky, exactly?

27 Aug 2017 23:25:01
Bingored. did you watch the match!

Twice he had the ball at his feet with plenty of time and it ended in a 50/ 50 tackle! Are you kidding me! If that's reliable then fine, but for me when there is no need for danger, why invite it? I pretty sure there was even a third event when he tried to take on a player and almost ended badly.
Watch the game first

Riedwaan, no i am not kidding. When he plays we look a lot better and most the time this is the case. You want gifted technical players, but that's part of the game only and if we had 11 coutinho we would be thrashed every game imo. What he does he does very well, and does not get the credit he deserves at all. Lucas never did either, perhaps because he wasnt the most technical either?

Crazy imo.

28 Aug 2017 13:17:53
Gareth, I did watch the game and you are simply knit-picking for no reason. Karius tried to play out of the back which is what they are told to do. He may have been a bit too confident BUT he did will with the crosses that came into the box and was decisive overall, the things Migs is poor at. I don't need to knit-pick to find Mingo's errors. They are there in plain sight. Migs is a failure and the facts prove that. Karius should be given the chance now to make the position his own and should be backed instead of being slated for kicking the ball into touch, something Migs does all the time BUT his apologists stay silent.

28 Aug 2017 20:35:19
I do not disagree that MIgs makes too many mistakes and i wish we had a top rate keeper. But for me, and i do not take part in bashing players at all, but its not the fact Karius almost gave away goals from silly mistakes, its that he doesn't even look bothered about it.
Those two 50/ 50s he had were not necessary. it was not like the player was close when he got the ball.

27 Aug 2017 19:19:28
Do you know what i loved about the salah goal, mane busting a gut from his own 18yd line and litterally being side by side with salah as he scores. Amazing!

With a commanding centre half this team can win things.

If you need any reason not to sign him. This afternoon demonstrated why we shouldn't consider wasting money on him.

27 Aug 2017 18:57:25
Bring back Couts and Lallana now who do you drop?

Believable3 Unbelievable2

27 Aug 2017 19:18:30
Squad depth and rotation for certain matches is key. These lads cannot maintain this for 50 + games.

27 Aug 2017 19:23:02
Coutinho and Lallana.

27 Aug 2017 19:26:06
No1. They start from the bench until some1s form dips or an injury.

27 Aug 2017 19:31:48
Cant drop any of them, they will need to wait there chance for a dip in form/ cup game/ injury.

3 Midfield players were excellent and deserve their spot in the team.

Henderson is probably most vulnerable as of now but you can see him improving every game.

27 Aug 2017 19:36:38
There will be constant changes between Premier league games and champions league and other cup games.

27 Aug 2017 19:36:56
Henderson.

27 Aug 2017 19:41:03
It's about having depth. You don't need to have everyone on the pitch at the same time. We also have the challenge of CL.

27 Aug 2017 19:42:50
Yeah great isn't it 👌🏻.

27 Aug 2017 19:43:11
Karius.

27 Aug 2017 19:59:36
Who's Coutinho?

27 Aug 2017 20:15:29
I think Coutinho will go.

27 Aug 2017 18:58:07
Give Can what he wants to get him tied down. He needs to stay at the club!

Believable9 Unbelievable2

27 Aug 2017 19:22:45
He's been outstanding.

27 Aug 2017 19:35:31
I have to say Can was excellent today he's really playing some stuff.

27 Aug 2017 19:36:27
100% agree he's been brilliant for months now but I'm worried he's going and I'll be gutted.

27 Aug 2017 19:42:11
AGreed someone get the boy a contract!

If he wants to be one of our top earners that's fine and JK should tell him that he is first choice in the middle as l NG as performance stays at this level.

He was different class again today.

27 Aug 2017 18:56:50
Milner, sturridge, solanke, klavan, ward, taa was our bench for todays game.

Now, tell me if we want to take off mane or salah who will you put in without changing the system?
We have no cover for the wings hence i suggest AOC.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

27 Aug 2017 19:12:13
Sturridge?

27 Aug 2017 19:12:37
I understand your point, but Firmino can play out wide to accommodate Sturridge or Solanke. Wijnaldum can be pushed forward to the wongs if need be as well.

Klopp's substitutions today showed this. But of course, having strength in depth is always a good thing. Imagine if we have AOC and a fully fit Coutinho/ Lallana to come off the bench to change things.

27 Aug 2017 19:19:50
The fact Klopp uses his bench very late suggests he doesht have faith in them. With 50+ games this season we need quality throughout and this will allow us to use our subs better.

27 Aug 2017 19:38:22
Sturridge can play wide of the forward as can lallana or coutinho. Ox is the lesser player of all three who are alternatives.

27 Aug 2017 19:40:05
Without changing the system you could put trent on for mane or salah. He has pace and a good right foot.

27 Aug 2017 19:41:23
Send Bobby out wide and slot in DS or dom solanke. Remember coutinio and lallana can both play in the wide positions, when they're back we are going to be spoilt for choice.

Totally agree, we need to tie Can down. He is getting so good. Stand by my comment that he will become one of the best CMS around.

Heard a lot of people give Hendo stick today. All I can say is you weren't watching the same game as me. He is the heartbeat of our team.

27 Aug 2017 20:31:09
Keep bobby were he is he makes the team tick.

27 Aug 2017 20:40:51
Ings should be able do do some cameos in a couple of months too. And Gini could do a job there. Would like to see more of both Woodburn and Kent in league cup in those positions.

27 Aug 2017 18:46:52
speaking to some Arsenal fans by mine and they say they have never seen such a gutless Arsenal team in the 20 odd years they have been supporting them and are so a shamed would rather support a pub team with a bit more gut in them.

bunch of prima donnas, probably more concerned what their hair looks like and scared to break a sweat just in case their makeup messes up.

27 Aug 2017 18:46:00
i would much rather give Can assurances on playing time than shell out 70m on Keita. im sure Keita is a very good player but is that much of an upgrade on Can if at all. We need a imposing CB more than another CM.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

27 Aug 2017 19:02:46
Can was class today.

27 Aug 2017 19:04:48
We have money for both. We were going to spend money on Kieta and VVD. Or so we have been lead to believe.

27 Aug 2017 19:21:40
I think if we do get Keita, Can will go.
This is one time I want LFC to do the right thing.

27 Aug 2017 19:24:15
I'd be more worried if I was Henderson or win if keita came in.

27 Aug 2017 18:38:44
A commanding centre back and with Karius gaining in confidence, we will be genuine title contenders.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

27 Aug 2017 19:03:17
Commanding centre back and ward, the only commanding keeper we have and that's a step in the right direction.

27 Aug 2017 19:40:37
karius gave me 2 mini heart attacks in a game where he had nothing to do.

27 Aug 2017 18:34:26
Question for the eds. Given arsenal fielded less than 11 players at kick off, is there not rules which say you can't do that? What? They did field 11 players? You're kidding, right?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - it is just that Xhaka is always so late into everything, particularly the tackle, it looks like he is not there.}

27 Aug 2017 18:42:48
Not a big fan of Xhaka then ed?

{Ed001's Note - he is utterly crap mate.}

27 Aug 2017 18:34:11
If Cou leaves we need to add quality. that is exactly what we were missing last years . we can't allow injuries to stumble us. someone like draxler, brandt or keita would be perfect. If howerer he stays we need a cb only and get a contract extension for big EMRE!

Believable4 Unbelievable2

27 Aug 2017 18:44:48
Klopps interview gave no hints that coutinho is staying so not sure why the pundits talk like he's staying. I think he will leave.

27 Aug 2017 18:46:24
I've critisized Moreno a lot but thought he was good today. Against lesser opposition I'm sure he will leave teammates exposed but he was disciplined today and even passed well.

27 Aug 2017 18:25:36
People on 505 are saying we should leg pc go. We don't need him. I disagree, if you bring his class into a team on this sort of form it is only a good thing. This proves it won't be the end of the world if he goes but we need depth and quality in numbers. * never thought I would talk about coutinio and depth in the same sentence *.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 18:59:25
Couldn't agree more mate. Coutinho has to be retained end of story then add some of the names being bandied about particularly in defence.

27 Aug 2017 20:42:10
FSG are going to be in a really good position if they can get Coutinho to stay one more year, move Sakho on and recruit a defender before the window closes. This team will be challenging for every title it plays for. I've been a fan following from America since the early 2000s and loved Torres, Gerrard and think Suarez had the best single season of any player in the Prems history but this feels like klopps liverpool could be the most complete team we have assembled in all MY time with the club. Even players we aren't mentioning did everything right and we could have easily scored more. Almost felt sorry for Arsenal by half time. Brighton would have offered more threat going forward.

27 Aug 2017 18:22:06
If Coutinho was to play again, or we brought in Keita, who would they even start over?
The midfield 3 where outstanding today!
Gini made their players sit down nearly every time he got the ball.
Can, well words aren't even needed for his performance.
And Hendo is looking so much better now he seems to have more freedom to get up the pitch on occasion.

Any of the front 3 would definitely not be the ones to be replaced they are an absolute dream to watch as well!

What a performance by the whole team though, Karius didn’t have to make a single save 😂 although he needs to work on his awareness on the ball, that was horrifying 😰.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 18:38:09
They will compete for places and klopp will be able to rotate without loosing quality.

27 Aug 2017 18:51:02
Hendo was mediocre today, not captain standard. Could easily improve in his position.

27 Aug 2017 19:04:28
^^^what.

27 Aug 2017 19:04:51
Caught out twice. this is school boy stuff and should not be seen at this level.

27 Aug 2017 19:27:32
Agree I thought he was our worst outfield player today. Poor passing an couldn't hit a barn door from 10 yards today. Can't fault the bloke for his energy though.

27 Aug 2017 19:27:37
OP is spot on. You simply cannot drop any of the players based on that performance. We were magnificent and the football was a joy to watch. Players will have dips in form over a long tough season, and if we are serious about challenging in all competitions it would be great to have ferocious competition across all positions.

You can actually see now Clyne, TAA are going to have to up their gam e again because Gomez staked a claim today. Robertson is bringing the best out of Moreno.

If Coutinho stays I can't see him walking back into a starting Spot.

I believe 2/ 3 more signings in the obvious positions and we are really well equipped for this year.

Feeling positive.

27 Aug 2017 19:28:49
Big al, your satisfied with him? Ahahah he can press I'll give you that, but what else? Always passing sideways occasionally looks for the killer pass but never. ever delivers! Average at best! I'm not saying he's bad, but could certainly improve.

27 Aug 2017 19:30:30
I agree, I actually thought Hendo was weak and gave the ball away far to easily today. He would be the player I would drop for keita.

28 Aug 2017 02:25:26
Henderson though gives everything isn't up to the standard required.

{Ed001's Note - after yesterday's performance I knew some divvy would still slag him off, even though he was key to the win with his pressing. Henderson was excellent yesterday, clearly you know about as much about football as Xhaka!}

28 Aug 2017 10:21:16
Your opinion, respected but not necessarily correct. I thought he gave the ball away a lot yesterday. Anyway, nevertheless a magnificent win and performance.

28 Aug 2017 21:43:37
True performances would dip throughout the season or we could get injuries. it’s going yo be insane having such quality dept for once! Just hoping players don't become unhappy like Can about wanting to start every game.

And spot on ed1 I agree with you, Hendo did make a few sloppy mistakes but he more than made up for them with his pressing, energy and willingness to win the ball and set the team on the front foot.
People who don't see Hendo's qualities are the same people who want us to buy a striker because they don’t see what Firmino brings to the side in that position.

27 Aug 2017 18:21:27
I really don't know what the situation with can is at the minute regarding his contract but we must sort this out NOW. He has had inconstancy at times last season but was playing through injury and towards the end was outstanding. He has started this season like a man who is miffed about lfc trying to spend big on a cm but tell you what carries on like that today then Keita won't be needed and we could save 60/ 70m there. Take a now sob well played.

27 Aug 2017 18:20:45
Yeah it worked well swapping keepers today😬😬😬. Is it me or does karius not look arsed about the errors he made today.

27 Aug 2017 18:21:23
When did we sign him? .

27 Aug 2017 18:22:10
30 mil in this market is nothing.
Barca forked out 40 mil for paulinho.
Mancity 50 mil on kyle walker.

Bottomline is let's not talk about money, the club can handle that part. If the player makes the squad strong the 30 mil is nothing.

27 Aug 2017 18:27:44
Would have won that with no keeper today!

27 Aug 2017 18:38:33
I'm not being funny, but if I was "joining" a team I'm playing against I wouldn't turn up, It's no excuse and tbh he shouldn't of been playing, now all our fan base will shoot him down before he's even put on a shirt.
I think hell turn out to be quite a handy signing and I really want him in a LFC jersey.

Don't shoot me, I never get what I want from LFC (Signing wise, Minus torres) so he'll probably go to Chelsea.

Great Win Guys.

P. s id love Emre to take the Captains Armband. 😘.

27 Aug 2017 18:01:20
Sadio Mane, soon to be John Barnes mk 2?

Believable12 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 18:08:26
John Barnes is the Jamaican Mane.

27 Aug 2017 19:39:03
Only ever one John Barnes.

27 Aug 2017 18:00:45
I was only saying to somebody in work the other day that one of our main priorities should be getting Emre Can to sign a new contract and he said nah don't rate him an laughed at me.

I think he is going to have a massive season he has really matured and improved his game and been one of our best players since the back end of last season and has started this one even better.

He has all the tools to become top draw that lad we need to keep him here!

Believable13 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 18:03:04
damn right.

27 Aug 2017 18:06:07
Spot on mate he is still young an a beast today will only get better really bad if we lose him.

27 Aug 2017 18:12:28
More concerned about Can moving on than couts at the moment.

27 Aug 2017 18:16:01
He seems a lot more mobile, a lot more combative and perhaps most importantly, a lot more dangerous going forward.

I always thought his natural position was deeper because he wasn't so dangerous going forward, but he's adding goals to his repertoire, getting better at his close control in the tight spaces and arriving in the box at dangerous times.

Means he doesn't need to compete directly with Hendo for game time and after how he's started this season he deserves to be playing all the time.

27 Aug 2017 18:16:13
He's turning me into a believer.

27 Aug 2017 19:18:11
Can, Mane, Salah, Firmino, Henderson (as his fitness is returning), Couts (if he stays) . there appears to be a number of LFC players that look like they could about to have massive seasons.

Looking very positive right now. Get a quality CB and anything is possible.

27 Aug 2017 18:00:31
Emre can an absouloute beast today we really need too sort out that contract (ed is there a feeling he will sign a new one) cheers.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no idea mate, I hope so, he would have to be mad to leave right now.}

27 Aug 2017 18:06:24
you know what happens when you hope for something with liverpool 001? take that back now! ha.

27 Aug 2017 18:08:53
When he plays like that he's guaranteed to start. Klopp needs to have a sit down with him. Tell him to play like that's consistently and he has nothing to worry about in the face of gametime.

27 Aug 2017 18:06:36
I agree totally ed thanks for you reply mate.

27 Aug 2017 18:00:23
Simply superb. Don't get me wrong, Arsenal were abysmal, but I had the biggest smile on my face today watching us utterly dismantle them and make them look like a pub team. Our front 3 are absolutely devastating. Midfield were sublime today, all 3 gave it everything and even the defence managed to hold it together for once (albeit they weren't really tested) .

Overall a fantastic performance.

Well done lfc.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 17:58:44
Just a great performance. Midfield outstanding. Wijnaldim and Henderson both truly excellent. Attackers outstanding. Gomez very impressive.
Many to pick from. Salah was the motm but my motm was my man Emre can. This is his season to be truly an outstanding midfielder alongside Henderson. Sort out his contract and assure him of game time if he plays like that consistently because he's going to be a world class midfielder. He has everything.
Get a centre back in hopefully van dijk to replace lovren and we're good to seriously challenge.
It reminiscent of last season. Outstanding against the bigger sides but struggle again the lower sides that sit. Hopefully we can improve on these latter throughout the season. A quality centre back is needed before the window closes.
Great result. Great win.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 18:55:58
We have to tie him down! For all the hard work we did on him from past 2 years he is slowly showing it. Patrik viera for me! c'mon Klopp speak some German and get him signed.

27 Aug 2017 17:55:59
Just want to say, how good has Gini been so far this season.

Believable15 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 18:01:15
Big Al might have to say something about that :d.

27 Aug 2017 18:01:47
He's looking very confident atm. Could see it in that moment when he turned on the ball three times to sit Ramsey on his arse.

27 Aug 2017 18:02:51
This season or today? We've played 3 premier league games and he was excellent today. Can't say the same about the previous games. Our entire midfield was excellent today. Arsenal's were pathetic. Definitely not a contender atall. No leaders and no improvement on last season.

27 Aug 2017 18:09:43
Arsenal will finish behind Everton.

27 Aug 2017 18:56:42
Agree totally Big Al, Gini was much better today but was a passenger against Palace and not much better v Watford. His position is under threat for me, especially if PipCo stays.

27 Aug 2017 17:55:25
Wow wow what a match by the lads today. Outstanding absolutely fantastic football. Mane, Salah and Firminho were all on fire and Henderson what a match for the skipper. Bring on Man U!

Believable6 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 17:58:38
Emre Can man of the match.

27 Aug 2017 17:59:10
I think you mean Man City? We play them next.

27 Aug 2017 17:59:33
Cracking performance, such a shame the international break is here already.

27 Aug 2017 18:00:10
Emre can was a beast today, my motm. Started really well so far he seems more athletic and determined to prove how good he is.

27 Aug 2017 18:02:54
Brilliant performance again. Well done lads!
All playing for one another and great to watch.
Hope they all come back from International break injury free and ready for Citeh
YNWA.

27 Aug 2017 18:05:15
Emre Can was superb but how about Gini. I would like to have the stats of Gini because he was everywhere today.

That was just brilliant. A performance to savour. Just great. Same again against Citeh please.

Was ox on the pitch? I'm not being funny. It's couldn't even tell you arsenal's line up with a few exceptions. I was just concentrated once us.

27 Aug 2017 17:51:48
Seriously good today. bar karius and his bloopers. none conceded thank god. Can brillant again would want to sort his contract out definitely don't want to lose him. gini also outstanding. come on the pool.

27 Aug 2017 17:56:26

27 Aug 2017 17:56:35
Our MSF were superb today.

27 Aug 2017 17:42:39
Maybe its time for klopp to give can the assurances he needs, got to keep him.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 17:56:06
Our best midfielder by a mile.
If anyone deserves any assurances about first team football in our midfield, its Can.

27 Aug 2017 17:56:39
Totally agree what a player he's becoming.

27 Aug 2017 17:42:26
I know Arsenal were shambolic, but I think the focus should be on keeping Can. and giving Bobby a new contract.
What impressed me the most though is the understanding between Hendo-Can-Wijnaldum. But they were switched on because of the perceived threat of Arsenal, but they were focused today. There was always someone dropping back to cover the other two when in possesion and when out of possession, you could see two behind the other one.
They seem to be developing an understanding, just that you would hope that discipline would be there if we're playing a "lesser" team.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 17:53:54
I was thinking the same thing they are definitely improving playing together I have especially been impressed with Can.

27 Aug 2017 17:54:25
Sign them up!

27 Aug 2017 17:58:23
Sign up Mane too before Barcelona or Real come calling. and a 300mnEUR release clause.

27 Aug 2017 17:58:38
I think the big difference is Hendo is now getting up to speed after his injuries, and Gini getting back into form. All 3 now playing really well, and with that front three they don't need to do anything all that fancy. just be competitive, control the game, shield the defense and let the front three loose.

Arsenal had a shocker though, really poor team selection and setup. Needed Lacazette or Giroud to start, Wellbeck had nothing, and they do don't seem to have anyone in midfield that runs the game if Ozil doesn't turn up. Xhaka poor, Ramsey and Coquelin didn't really look to have any real desire. Suspect they might well struggle this year again.

27 Aug 2017 17:42:19
Emre Can MOTM for me. Yours?

Believable6 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 17:55:54
He's absolutely brilliant.
Its quite worrying, id rather have Can sign his contract then someone else come in.
Give him the game time he deserves.

What a week this has been for LFC. I'm pleased.
Ynwa.

27 Aug 2017 17:57:31
Too many choices. Gini and Salah were both close.

27 Aug 2017 18:38:14

27 Aug 2017 17:40:09
One word "fantastic" that is all.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 17:33:17
Anyone still want to see AOC at Liverpool? Eds25 is right he's average at best.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

27 Aug 2017 16:48:35
Arsenal have been absolutely awful and half their team doesn't even care that they've been awful. We just need to avoid doing anything stupid and letting them back in.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

27 Aug 2017 16:53:14
Are they or is it because we have been exceptional. 🤔.

27 Aug 2017 16:59:10
We've been good, but Arsenal have been shocking.

I'll put it this way, if three of our defenders were like statues in the six yard box marking thin air and allowed an opposition forward to waltz in from the penalty spot and have a free header to score, what would you say? I don't think it'd be "wow, that was a good goal! "

27 Aug 2017 17:00:41
Think it's a bit of both, we're very good, Ramsey and Ozil been absolutely shocking.
AOC not doing much to impress, or maybe that's all part of his plan to get away?!?!?
Can getting better each time he plays, maybe that's part of his plan.
Getting a cold sweat each time the ball goes near Karius.
No mistakes second half please.

27 Aug 2017 17:03:39
I never get these type of posts. Can we not just be playing well that makes the opposing look pretty bad? It always feels as if we got a little lucky and met a team on an off day.

27 Aug 2017 17:16:39
Salah at £39m is looking like bargain of the season.

27 Aug 2017 17:55:38
What's there not to get? Arsenal were really poor. Would you have been one bit happy with us playing like that?

Doesn't mean we weren't good. We were. Especially at the start of the 2nd half when Arsenal briefly showed a bit of fight, we kept playing well and scored a third to knock the fight out of them again. Front three all scored again, so did Sturridge, Can and Wijnaldum were excellent.

4 goals, clean sheet and three points against a team that are going to be outside the top 6, which is where we normally struggle. ;)

27 Aug 2017 18:30:14
Lets be honest, Arsenal were shocking.
That doesn't mean we weren't fantastic.
I suspect any of the top 6 would struggle against our front 3.
But do you really think Chelsea, Utd or City would play that badly against us?
Thought Gini was outstanding, Gomez was superb, Can my MOM, give him what he wants right now!

27 Aug 2017 18:55:37
Arsenal have been poor CJ. Their midfield can't be arsed. I'm a bag of nerves right now as we're not the best at protecting leads!

27 Aug 2017 16:46:04
Mane🔴😁.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 16:41:58
I know they are in the early days of theirs contracts but Mane, Bobby and Salah all need to be tied down to long term contracts. Can't think of a better trio in world football ATM. Midfield ain't bad either.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 16:55:51
And Emre Can - someone needs to go back and rethink what we need to do to give him comfort in his career at Liverpool. He has been excellent last two games, a real combative presence and should have an assist at least already today.

27 Aug 2017 16:56:42
Having a long term contract won't make any difference if one of them decides they want to leave though will it as we've seen time and time again.

27 Aug 2017 17:00:37
Is this the midfield everyone on here slags off left right and centre? Im at the game, and i can tell u all this midfield 3 is exceptional. As good as anything out there. Maybe this performance might shut a few so called fans up!

27 Aug 2017 16:18:13
Nathaniel Clyne must be abit worried. First TAA and now Gomez showing brilliant attacking quality as well as good defending.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 16:37:18
Very true king Kenny. I put TAA before Clyne. I think eventually TAA will play further up the pitch and gomez will slip inside to CB but nice to have good options in the fb positions. On the left also. We are always going to concede with our AC/ DC style and I think moreno and mane has been a brilliant partnership so far this year. We've been calling for more signings as LFC fans but I think the club has been very shrewd in the market this year. We only need a CB. plenty of forwards and midfielders, fbs, decent gks, all 3 of them. Keeping coutinio will be key but also. We must keep Can. What a talent. We should offer w/ e it takes. He is sooooo good and getting better. Heading for one of world's best cms.

27 Aug 2017 16:48:39
Gomez has been excellent. The whole team have been excellent first half. One dodgy moment of goal keeping aside, brilliant so far. even Moreno who i do not rate at all has been good.

27 Aug 2017 15:31:49
Mignolet isn't even on the bench. He's gone from number 1 to number 3. This shows Klopp does not really trust him in goal. I hope both Karius and Ward grab their chance and shine. We need a confidence-insipring keeper for our defenders, something Mignolet is far from being.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

27 Aug 2017 15:44:37
Klopp changed keepers so we stop talking about transfers and particularly Coutinho 😜.

27 Aug 2017 15:50:27
He wouldn't have played him in the first four games if he didn't trust him. Something's brewing.

27 Aug 2017 15:55:39
Yeah its strange with migs he upped his game after bein dropped last season but we can never seem too get consistency out of him, we need someone too make that position there own.

27 Aug 2017 16:51:13
Klopp said he's giving Migs the game off so why would he be on the bench?

27 Aug 2017 17:02:10
Talk of Napoli making approach.

27 Aug 2017 15:27:57
Ox starting for them. now he will score against us as lot of guys here called him "rubish", "headless chicken" "averege at best " lol. hope for a good result! come on Reds!

Believable2 Unbelievable6

27 Aug 2017 15:57:01
Thanks for the positive start too the game hahaha I know where u comin from though, we love creatin a storyline.

27 Aug 2017 15:25:42
It's nice to have genuine goal threats on the bench in Sturridge and Solanke. That's with Origi and Ings not in the squad!

Believable4 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 16:58:10
thought the same. hope to see studge get a run.

27 Aug 2017 15:13:23
Gutted for Andy Robertson today. The guy looked sharp and dangerous against Palace. He put in a good few dangerous crosses. Unless he's injured or not quite fully fit yet he must wonder what he needs to do to keep Moreno out, someone who hardly started last year 😏.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

27 Aug 2017 15:17:40
Even if Robertson isn't the best defender at least he can cross a ball and not just run around like a headless chicken for 90 minutes.

27 Aug 2017 15:17:58
He's just became a father so he's been left out of the squad today because of that I assume.

27 Aug 2017 15:18:04
Ed001's only explained the situation a dozen or so times.

His pre-season was a virtual write off because Hull, who were a little behind us anyway, removed him from first team training and friendlies as soon as it became apparent he was going to leave. So he only had two 45 minute run outs with us prior to starting against Palace.

As a result he's not match fit.

27 Aug 2017 15:19:57
Think its cos of the birth of his child.

27 Aug 2017 15:20:40
I saw a twitter post of him holding a baby. Is he on paternity leave?

{Ed001's Note - exactly he has not been able to get fully fit because he has missed training this week.}

27 Aug 2017 15:16:45
His Mrs has just had a baby I believe that why not in match day squad.

27 Aug 2017 15:44:29
Thanks guys and Ed1, that explains it then. I hadn't realised quite how behind he was in terms of fitness. But as I'm a little older and certainly don't have twitter, I'm reminded of Roy Keane's comment when one of the Irish lads (Robbie Keane, I think it was) was asking to miss a match on paternity leave. "It's his wife having the baby though, right? He's not having the baby! " 😂👍🏻👍🏻.

27 Aug 2017 18:16:29
He's just had a kid mate so not playing because of that.

27 Aug 2017 18:17:54
His wife is giving birth.

27 Aug 2017 14:59:22
Ed looks like Moreno starts ahead of Robertson? Is he still not match fit? I'd of preferred Robertson today for his defending capabilities!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - not so sure you have seen Robertson play if you are talking about his defending capabilities! That is his weakness too. He is getting close to fitness but needs the international break to get near to what is fit enough for LFC.}

27 Aug 2017 15:18:25
theres poor defending and then there's morenos defending which does not exist.

27 Aug 2017 15:25:33
Ed01, wouldn't it be better for a Robertson to start and maybe come off after 70 mins, he's a better defender than Moreno and a much better attacker too. Surely those crosses into the box could get us a lead and then replace him when he tires.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know how knackered he is from the baby mate, or I would agree.}

27 Aug 2017 15:26:30
I think in defending compared to Moreno he is better of the 2?

{Ed001's Note - probably.}

27 Aug 2017 15:29:30
Robertson's defending is nothing to shout about but I'm pretty darn sure it can't be any worse than Moreno.

27 Aug 2017 15:36:26
Apologies Ed just read his partner just had a baby. Hope all are healthy.

27 Aug 2017 17:59:03
Oh the beauty of hindsight. Moreno on it today and didn't put a foot wrong. Really upped his game.

27 Aug 2017 18:13:09
Also he just became a dad so that's why he's not playing today I assume.

27 Aug 2017 14:50:35
Some posters saying dropping migs is a risk today, I completely disagree karius is a much better option for the way klopp wants to play. let's not forget karius first chance with us was from a debut season in a new league/ language while recovering from a broken hand.

If I was a betting man id bet karius today puts the best keeper debate to bed with a man of the match performance.

lets all believe in him.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

27 Aug 2017 15:04:16
Hopefully we keep Arsenal at bay enough that Karius has no chance of putting the argument to bed! Here's to dreaming.

27 Aug 2017 15:14:46
I hate liverpools back 5 today all look uncertain . surely migs klavan robertson arnold would be better than gomez lovren karius and moreno.

27 Aug 2017 16:59:53

Cant understand people on here been slagging mingolet off how bad he is and he decides to put karious in and now he's being hammerd let's give the guy a break and support him today.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 18:54:52
Mignolet, Lovren and Moreno are awful.

27 Aug 2017 13:40:42
Here's a thought. 002, 001, myself and a lot of posters can not get our heads around why klopp didn't let ward go to Huddersfield on a great loan where he had settled before and would of been playing every week in the Prem.
why would he make such a decision.
My point is, maybe he's kept him here to give him his shot, like he did karius last season.
I've a cheeky feeling wards starting today, sink or swim at the deep end.

Believable5 Unbelievable8

27 Aug 2017 13:54:58
Benny you must have been listening to me and the lad's at work mate because we have suspicion that he will get a Prem start before the year is out.

27 Aug 2017 14:03:35
And I've got a cheeky feeling your wrong and Karius will start. Karius has been on the bench, which suggests he's ahead of Ward in Klopp's thinking.

That being said, if the rumours are true and Migs is on his way out, then Ward is going to play in the cups. It's not unheard of to use your "backup" goalie in the CL group matches if he's closely matched with your first choice goalie. So there may be a chance for him to establish himself that we.

27 Aug 2017 14:05:14
Karius is reportedly starting today, Benny.

27 Aug 2017 14:17:42
Whoever is starting in goal today I think we will all agree we hope he has a blinder. Whichever of the two it is I really hope to see them dominate their area and come and catch the crosses. Take the pressure off our defence.

27 Aug 2017 14:27:47
I'm hoping he plays cups and maybe CL group as a view to settling in and challenging Karius next year.

I really do like Migs and respect him for stepping up so well end of last season but he's had long enough to really prove he can become top class and it's just not happening.

27 Aug 2017 13:24:52
Ward is definitely better than karius. If goal keeping costs us the game today we all need to question klopp. This seems like a very rash decision to make especially against a big team.

Believable4 Unbelievable11

27 Aug 2017 13:47:05
Problem is Mignolet starting today would just as likely to cost us the game as Karius is if he was to make a mistake. Ward hasn't been given a chance and in fairness neither has Karius. Mignolet has had numerous seasons to make his claim and apart from the end of last season he's not stepped up in my opinion.

27 Aug 2017 14:09:13
Ohio, that may be an opinion but one I disagree with. No one really knows who is better than who now btw Karius and Ward as neither has been given a proper crack at the job as 10 games under Karius and 4 under Ward (Ward played 4 games in the 15/ 16 season) where he committed two mistakes, proves nothing and would still prove nothing if the roles were reversed. I do believe that Migs time is up and needs to go so we can focus on working on either of these young guys to see who is the long term solution at GK.

27 Aug 2017 14:28:15
No matter what we say if we are debating which keeper will cost us today sumthn is very very wrong! No?

27 Aug 2017 14:33:06
How can you say Karius wasn't given a chance?
He was awful last season and lost his place to Migs.
Last season he brought panic and nervousness to the entire stadium let alone the team.
He needs to be a lot better today I hope he is.

27 Aug 2017 15:25:58
If u buying a keeper for prem especially liverpool we need a imposing aggressive keeper who will come an wipe out danger an also commanding the defence give them a rollicking if need be, I haven't really seen that from karius or migs, but ward hasn't been given chance too prove, maybe klopp evaluating who best fit is, surely that should ov been done in preseason.

28 Aug 2017 13:28:25
Fowler, what defence? You mean the same one Migs scares the crap out of before Karius came here? Pep gave Bravo a full season to prove his ability or lack thereof so why not give Karius the same chance Bravo or Migs was given (3 seasons for Migs) as Karius arrived here cos Migs was piss poor since he arrived? And If ten games is the standard for evaluating players in the PL, esp. a GK coming from another country then thank goodness you don't run the club cos half the team right now, would be gone.

27 Aug 2017 13:19:14
I have been thinking about the possible rationale of playing Karius in such a big game today. We all know that Klopp rates Karius highly. I think he's hoping that he does well today because if he does, Klopp will be vindicated in his assessment of Karius and will continue playing him. If he does not, he will still play in the next game because it will be 'easier' than today's.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2017 13:24:26
If indeed Karius gets the start today, I wish him luck cos he's going to need it.

27 Aug 2017 13:28:15
Klopp is shooting himself in the foot if Migs does'nt get sold.

Kauris is not up to Migs standard who himself is not that great.

Any GK will have problem with the way we are set up to play and the quality of our so called defenders.

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any efforts by Liverpool to sell Mignolet.}

27 Aug 2017 14:03:43
Let's just hope whoever is in goal has a blinder and then non of this will matter too much. Although I don't think migs is the long term answer for us, I do feel it's a bit harsh on him, don't think he's been in droppable form, shame he has dipped from the second half of last season though, he was terrific in the run in.

27 Aug 2017 14:38:55
Samikewell, Migs is the worst GK at LFC. Why? He is a proven failure after 3 seasons bar the last 2 months of last season. Karius has only had 10 games while Ward only has 4 games (in the 15/ 16 season) so it is inaccurate to say that Karius or Ward are inferior to him. We know what Migs is after 3 seasons. He is a proven failure overall. We don't know what Ward and Karius will be long term unless either has been given a real chance at the job. This is Karius' chance now and he needs to take it.

27 Aug 2017 13:01:47
Ed1,

What do you think firmino makes of the whole couts situation? Obiously they're good friends, do you think he's tried to convince him to stay or if he's known all along what Phil wanted?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea but players come and go all of the time - there is nothing at all special about this.}

27 Aug 2017 14:39:54
Players focus on their job and are always sure to butt out of issues that have nothing to do with them esp. when it comes to players' contracts.

27 Aug 2017 11:52:20
Ed1 if you are about mate, good call on the keepers with Migs being dropped, do you see this is the end for him pal?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - depends on Karius and Ward now. If they both end up messing up badly, then Klopp will have no choice but to turn back to Migs until the window opens and he can buy a keeper.}

27 Aug 2017 13:09:07
Just a thought, but Koulibaly plays for Napoli.
Could Migs be part of a deal for him I wonder?

{Ed002's Note - What deal for him? Can he play in goal?}

27 Aug 2017 13:10:00
klopp needs to give karius a proper run in the team this time, that's the only way we will find out if he is up to the job.

27 Aug 2017 13:17:06
Liverpool need a centre back
Napoli need a goalie if Reina leaves
Who knows. Klopp may have another goalie lined up for us too!

27 Aug 2017 13:27:32
Spot on, KK7. Migs deserved to be dropped and to me, this should be the end of Migs and a signal to Karius that he will be given a proper chance now. He will make mistakes and we all know that BUT we have to stick with him now and support him even in his low moments and not turn on him cos he made a mistake. Good luck to him and the team today.

27 Aug 2017 11:50:36
Have to say as much as I want vvd in! Reading ed02's comments regrading the whole transfer saga I can't see it happening I know macca has said this and all this Tuesday lark and the bookies slashing odd etc I just can't see it happening 😭.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

27 Aug 2017 13:13:02
stranger things have happened jay, however what I think we can all agree on is that this has been a summer transfer window to forget, we need to learn our lessons from it and make sure it never happens again.

27 Aug 2017 13:20:54
I agree kk it's been a disaster I'd love to see vvd and another couple in but I just don't know! Let's just hope we put the gooners away today mate 👍🏼.

27 Aug 2017 13:28:25
With Ed02's info, VVD won't be happening, IMO.

{Ed002's Note - I have not said that, I have simply explained things as they are.}

27 Aug 2017 14:41:03
Ed02, I know you did not say that. I only gave my opinion based on the info you kindly provided. Cheers!

27 Aug 2017 11:46:16
ed001 or 002 has there been any enquires about Mignolet are worst goalkeeper ever to play for Liverpool Really hope so. How anyone say he is a decent keeper is beyond me, i have supported from mid 70's and even are reserve keepers would look world class next to him. And thank you.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - I cannot recall any approaches for Mignolet. Goalkeepers don't move as often as other players but for now we have seen that Klipperty still has the Klopps for Mignolet.}

27 Aug 2017 12:20:07
Worst keeper ever is harsh to say the least. Itandje? Padelli? Westerveld?

27 Aug 2017 12:45:34
Bogdan?

{Ed002's Note - He is one of Liverpool goalkeepers. Chap with red hair.}

27 Aug 2017 12:48:04
I loved Westerveld only big mistake was when he come for corner and punched backwards into his own net. But gave me one of my best memories was in restaurant on holiday it was packed and when he did that my dad jumped up swore badly and had to apologise to whole restaurant 120+ people.

27 Aug 2017 12:50:22
Fair enough comment lad, though that penalty save against Hoffenheim- coming as it did at such a crucial time in the tie, could well have saved us in the champions league. Mig made my eeek savibg that.
So that, allied with the fact that klopp plays so open and, given we know Mig can improve; for me, mig has earned that we persevere with him.
It may well be a stay of execution as you say, but i'd stick with him for now; a wee bit of loyalty.
We demand it of our players. It's nice to see it reciprocated from us fans when they're struggling.
That's my view in it anyways.

27 Aug 2017 12:51:38
No hyperbole, Mr Dennis, I reckon if you exclude backups, Kop69 might actually be right. At least going as far back as Tommy Lawrence who debuted in 1957 anyway.

Looking at guys who were first choice for a season or more, there's really only Westerveld (wasn't he briefly the most expensive keeper in English football? ) who you can argue wasn't any better than Migs. And at least he made a good save once a while to offset his mortal fear of crosses. Migs doesn't.

27 Aug 2017 13:19:47
being good at saving penalties should not be enough to keep him in goal, he has started this season like the back end of last season never happened, its over to karius now with ward breathing down his neck, if mignolet had not had reverted back to his old self he would not have been dropped.

27 Aug 2017 13:34:09
In fairness something red, if you look back over Migs' Liverpool career he has made countless top class saves. His shot stopping reflexes were never in doubt in my mind, up there with the bests in the league in that regard I think. But he doesn't command the area, looks suspect at catching, inspires fear and panic. That's why he will never be good enough. Shame.

27 Aug 2017 13:34:23
Being good at saving penalties is a red herring. Saving penalties is not a requirement to be come a great GK. Migs lacks the TRUE qualities to become a very good GK. He can't catch a cross, lacks self confidence, lacks distribution, lacks the bottle to command his area, gets beat at will at his near post, the list is endless so him saving a pathetic excuse of a penalty, does not a good GK make, I'm sorry. BTW, Karius is no slouch either at saving penalties either as he has a decent record of this in Germany. We need to stick with Karius now cos he will make mistakes BUT at least we will know if he is the guy or not so we can move on. Good luck to the boys, today.

27 Aug 2017 14:22:04
I thought you said keepers don't catch crosses anymore bingo. They're all taught to punch. Or so you said the other day in your argument defending Mignolet.

27 Aug 2017 11:10:34
I have read that Schalke declined the offer from Juventus for Höwedes.

As i have read his name a few times on here now has there ever been real interest/ did we talked to schalke? As a backup/ third choice he would be a good transfer.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

27 Aug 2017 12:28:35
Eds hearing it could be Subotic coming in as our centre half. Have you heard anything on this? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Whilst Subotic will be available at a very good price and he is a player who Klopp has worked with at his two previous clubs, the only real interest I am aware of this summer has been from Hamburg. Other clubs have moved on, but it is possible that Liverpool have shown an interest - but unlikely in my opinion.}

27 Aug 2017 12:44:51
Cheers for the reply ed. What's your opinion on the player? As I've not seen much of him to be honest. Is he good enough to come in and start, would he just paper over the cracks or would he be a squad player?

{Ed002's Note - Subotic would certainly not be a starter and Klopp opted for Matip ahead of Subotic last year. He has struggled with injuries, not played well enough whilst at Cologne to attract a bid. Perhaps the MLS would be a better solution for both the player and Liverpool.}

27 Aug 2017 12:57:05
Brilliant cheers eds. let's hope it is not him we bring in then.

27 Aug 2017 13:17:00
Sorry, I missed Macca's post yesterday, but it is common knowledge that centre back Perr Schuurs, 17, is on Merseyside both Monday and Tuesday following his successful trial, he will go straight in to Mr Gerrard's U18 squad.

What is all the fuss about?

27 Aug 2017 13:28:04
He might be coming to go round the Albert Dock, though.

27 Aug 2017 10:52:35
I seen yesterday maybe a centre half by Tuesday. I hope it's Alderweireld.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

27 Aug 2017 11:13:43
Haha as if we would get him I would b in dreamland.

27 Aug 2017 10:29:23
If Liverpool were to sign another center backdoor you think do you think it is to play 3 at the back with wingbacks and if we sign ox what position would he fill?

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Liverpool looking for a backdoor man nor do I think that Klopp is looking to change from his kopflose huhn style of play.}

27 Aug 2017 11:03:08
Classic edd!

27 Aug 2017 18:11:44
Lol Ed02 is in full form today I guess 😄😄.

27 Aug 2017 10:37:51
Personally would be very pleased if migs was sold - we have two young goalkeepers, both deserve a shot. Mignolet isn't bad, I respect the way he came back at end of last season, but for me he as good as he is going to get - and doesn't seem to be able to take the next step. We could have a keeper for the next ten years at least on our hands, and let him leave as he doesn't get a shot.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

27 Aug 2017 11:17:21
Mignolet wasn't perfect in last game but nothing bad to deserve being dropped. Only way it would make sense is if Liverpool are going to bid for another keeper and this has caused mignolet to make a fuss. If karius has a bad game klopp will be critisized badly.

{Ed002's Note - Buying goalkeepers is a much harder task than buying players in other positions.}

27 Aug 2017 11:59:56
Love the way we slag Minolta off and the minute he s dropped all of a sudden he s ray clemence.

{Ed002's Note - Minolta make great photocopiers but they are not Liverpool's official photocopier partner.}

27 Aug 2017 13:48:36
Irishscouse, Migs has been here for 4 years and he has not improved one bit apart from the last 2 months of last season. Sorry, that is a damning indictment on the lad's ability to get better. I hope he gets sold so we can focus on giving either Karius and Ward the shot and not to ever have to deal with him anymore.

27 Aug 2017 10:05:16
Question for Ed001, just going on from what we spoke about yesterday.

Hearing today Karius may be starting over migs due to injury/ illness. Even if untrue, do you think it's a case now that the club think it's easier to claim an injury/ illness than have to explain a player losing his place?

And on that subject, I know TAA was earmarked to feature more this season by Klopp, is it pure coincidence that clyney got injured or was it another plan to be able to give TAA game time initially without the pressure of people knowing he's first choice? Could be really sinister way of thinking but the way clubs spin things these days just had me curious.

Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - sometimes it can be but it is not usual or the player makes a fuss.}

27 Aug 2017 10:31:00
Cheers.

27 Aug 2017 09:17:11
With Karius in the net it is obvious Klopp knows as we do that it is going to be a very open and fast paced game. And we all know Migs doesn't excel with his feet or quick breaks.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 09:44:06
What's everyone's back 4 today. I'd go with TAA, Matip, Klavan, Roberston.

27 Aug 2017 10:16:28
TAA, Lovren, Matip, Robertson for me.

27 Aug 2017 10:32:32
TAA, Matip, Lovren, Robertson

Lovren is error prone but he'll have more cover during an even game like Arsenal and he won't be as tested aerially so think he'll be fine.

Klavan struggles against pace so would prefer not to see him facing Lacazette. we should be using him vs the West Broms of this world.

27 Aug 2017 10:47:31
Lovren or klaven - such a tough call 😂.

27 Aug 2017 12:21:11
Klavan against any mobile forward is an accident waiting to happen.

27 Aug 2017 12:39:11
Klavan evey time for me.

Bozo Texino and Ken Aguero.

27 Aug 2017 11:21:26
or as #wonderdogsparky alluded to, maybe virgil tracy?

{Ed002's Note - He says he was doing no more than carrying the message for a local car dealer.}

27 Aug 2017 12:21:54
Hope he got more than a score for working for Arthur Daley ed.

27 Aug 2017 08:49:06
Sorry ed002 what's that twitter handle your friend runs.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - The only chap I know who has a Twitter account is #WonderDogSparky but he doesn't have any handles.}

27 Aug 2017 09:43:10
Sparky the wonderdog is one of my favourite things on twitter. Genuinely funny.

27 Aug 2017 22:34:51
Not funny at all!

27 Aug 2017 06:51:08
Hey ed001,

Lots of links with Renata Sanchez. I think ed002 has explained it's not likely for LFC, but wanted your opinion on him as a player. He looks a bit undisciplined and overrated to me, relying to much on his pace and power rather real footballing technique or intelligence? Seems to be common with players like that looking good in weaker leagues. Maybe that's harsh as he's still young but I certainly haven't seen anything to suggest he would get into our first team. Any thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I have only seen him once or twice and he did not impress.}

27 Aug 2017 08:48:26
I've only seen him a handful of times and he doesn't look great.

27 Aug 2017 09:25:13
She sounds hot.

{Ed002's Note - The concensus is that he has a great deal of talent but moved too young and did not settle. There are interested sides but a loan would require guaranteed game time and a sale would be risky due to the amount of money involved.}

27 Aug 2017 10:52:20
Thanks eds and others!

27 Aug 2017 11:31:15
Our starting attack from midfield up is good but if we get injuries then the squad is mid table that's why we need to buy in them areas but our defence we need to buy to get into the starting team now even without injuries.

26 Aug 2017 21:59:50
Any news on Emre Can's contract ed? Do you think he will go?

I tried the search function.

Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - that's odd as I was discussing this yesterday, strange that nothing came up. I think he will go now, though we have a few months left to convince him otherwise.}

27 Aug 2017 05:14:05
Play him in a particular position on a regular basis and he will sign on the dotted line. Using him as a utility man at this stage of his career will make him another James Milner or AOC. Both those players have been shunted from position to position to make up the first 11 where ever they have played and I'm pretty sure Can has bigger ambitions than that.

27 Aug 2017 08:43:41
He's one of them players that at the moment, he's either brilliant or none existent. But you know he's going to be a really top class player.

27 Aug 2017 09:00:20
Good post indian I actually think he'd make a good captain.

27 Aug 2017 09:47:22
Can has predominantly played in the midfield 3 though. I can't remember him being shunted around to full back and winger or other positions like the other 2 mentioned though.

27 Aug 2017 10:52:06
Can's played as part of a back 3 under Brendan. He has also played a couple of games as a RB so yeah he will be concerned about being used as a utility man. He has too much talent to be used like that.

27 Aug 2017 12:24:02
Does where a previous manager played him have any bearing on his next contract with us?

27 Aug 2017 18:50:21
Typical case at Liverpool, Buy young, train them, develop them and as soon as they reach the top of the chart, Sell them 😄😄.

27 Aug 2017 01:47:03
Any chance of Keita signing seems finished.
If it's a choice between the Ox and Renato Sanches then my vote is for Sanches. The main reason being his work rate and his ability to win back possession. It's something I've not seen much from the Ox. If we sign him I think Can will leave. The other question is which centre back do we go for?

Believable5 Unbelievable7

27 Aug 2017 02:24:48
I go for that Southampton bloke who was in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

27 Aug 2017 02:32:59
It will be a loan deal I suppose! I would like us to buy R Sanches on a permanent deal. Klopp will develop him.

27 Aug 2017 02:42:32
I'd rather we stick with what we have than sign OX or Sanches. Bang average players who will simply take up Grujic or Kent's space in the squad. Sign some quality like Keita and VVD or give the young ones a chance. We have enough average players in the squad as it is and we don't need OX or Sanches adding to those numbers.

27 Aug 2017 08:29:49
The one thing in Sanches favour is that he is a bonefide centre midfielder, Oxlade isn't and never will be,

27 Aug 2017 18:51:24
Ox will take us to the same place where Wijnaldum is sitting. NOT GOOD ENOUGH! And no idea where to play THEM! Ox will demand playing time and position in his contract and I just don't know how we will tackle this situation.
Keita is class and won't happen. RBL would be nuts to sell him late late in the window.
What is the point of loaning Sanchez and give Bayern a finished product next summer?
