Henderson as started his Liverpool career off superb for a 20 year old. his engine is going to be so important to us. He never stops running and his delivery is first class and quality goal today. I believe he is ramming a few peoples words back down there mouth. 20 mill what a snip.

16 million - but who really knows?

ed wats happening with marco bueno is he signing a professional contract or isnt he {Ed002's Note - Has he completed his trial?}

His trial is done, he scored against cardiff for the u18s. agreed a pre-contract and will go back to mexico until he is 18 and then come and join liverpool

Yeh has he completed his trial

It was Jordan Lussey who scored against Cardiff!

Been supporting Adam from day 1. When most were slagging him off. I was posting under the surname "lodge". I remember all the negative post & I used to say "I can't wait to say I told you so" Now here goes. I TOLD YOU SO!!!

Couldnt agree more lfc-ire. the boys class and todays performance indicates exactly what he can do, score, cross and put pin point through balls in between defences.

27 Aug 2011 22:51:48
hope all the henderson haters saw todays game, the lad was excellent, done everything well, crossing was class, tracking back excellent, and his goal was very good aswell. he obviously has bags of ability.

A fantastic exhibition of football. Hugely satisfying on two fronts. Firstly, today was a joy to watch. Secondly, as I started supporting LFC in the late 70's and being spoilt in those early years, I now have a real feeling that we can genuinely revisit those standards on a consistent basis. Fantastic performances today. Suarez sublime, Lucas was like a Rolls Royce - majestic.

Great Site Eds!!!must visit atleast 10 times a day...OMG what a game!!!:)...I actually recorded it and am watching it again;).every single player was superb, seems we do play better when Carroll isn't playing but his still a beasts of a player and will come good sooner than later. The less I say about that ref da better its a good thing we won the game comfortably.Suarez Wat a player,he definitely deserved a goal that's why he was upset to come off,I think he wants dat golden boot,I also hoped he would make it 4 in 4.We just hav to keep on with these performances and top 4 will be a breeze, aswell as a chance for the title, would be good to get my friends off my back(mostly glory hunting spam supporters, they drive me crazy!)...WALK ON U REDS Live4Pool Y.N.W.A. suarez cross for downing outside of boot how the heck did he do that pure class.i think carroll needs aldo and rush to have a word on where to get into positions give him some advice.who said aggers injury prone going by past few games he looks the fittest id seen him.the confidence is high agger ran the whole pitch looking for a goal.i just love seeing the smiles they have and liitle jokes.seeing suarez being grumpy on the bench made me think what a player that hed ran his socks off all game yet was still peeved at not playing.great man management by the king.ive never been so excited about a season like this before.next two games away to stoke and spurs if we can get 4-6 points will be happy.fingers crossed city and utd lose or draw tomorrow.DORSET RED

Ye - i thought the same - carroll was only on twenty minutes but could have had two - kenny will tell him when you see downing or enrique goin down the line get in the six yard box and knock it in - just a bit more time thats all - getting better game by game

suarez lucas n kuyts efforts today were immense

27 Aug 2011 21:45:50
just like to say what a marvellous midfielder lucas is turning into, i am so pleased i am not the type of fan who gives a new player 1 game to prove his worth like most on here
he came to lfc when lets face it our midfield was pretty great, alonso, gerrard, benayoun, mascherano, sissoko, so when he did get a game he had mighty big boots to fill, and at the age of 20 that was quite a task,
fans barely gave him 5 minutes before slating him, but last season he was fantastic in an otherwise awful season for the club, and he has started this season in exactly the same vein, so it took him 3 seasons to become a wonderful player, and i couldn't be happier to see his name on the team sheet week in week out, i will be as patient with henderson and i have been with lucas, and hopefully he will develop into as good a player lucas is in whatever position LFC find fit for him, but this is about lucas leiva,
well done lad, despite all the crap you've gotten off the useless fans every club has you have come into your own and proved to all of us what a good player you are, i hope your quality and loyalty last for many years to come !!!!!

Best post ive heard on here in weeks mate, wish there was more "fans" like you.

A+ for your post

Future captain

molbys big toe

Completely agree, i can honestly say i never thought lucas was a waste of space like and its great to see there is more out there. P.S. i have never seen him slide tackle like this today, very impressed
Dark knite

Mate dito, some of his passing was top class 2day. future arm band holder i think.. just maybe. the lads doing good. big big shame about kelly i think if he had stayed fit glenn would not get his place back.
would also like to give maxi some bigging up, he looked fit fast and strong mid week, fair play.
great team effort today by all.

As much as I agree that Lucas has turned into a top player I think you are actually being harsh on the fans. With Lucas it wasnt as if he was slated after a few games. He got stick after a couple of seasons (which im sure he would agree he was below par for premierleague standard) so it wasnt some overnight thing. Luckily for us he has turned into a cracking player but it has taken him alot of hard work and improving from when he first arrived. The fans that are slagging off Hendo and Carroll are ridiculas because how can you judge players after a only a few games...you cant. Let them bed in and get games under their belts. Technically Hendo is fantastic - Just needs to improve a few other areas of his game and needs more game time and he will be a top player and Carroll has alot of promise for someone so young just needs more games, a higher level of fitness and to adapt to a new system where we play to his strengths.

Personally I am really happy with our work so far in the transfer window and Im happy to see we are building a team with a british core. When you look at our squad now compared to last season its crazy to think some fans are moaning. Long live King Kenny and bring on the rest of the season! YNWA
Sabian378

I have to admit I was quick to judge him and I am glad that he has proved to be such an amazing talent. I personally feel that Henderson won't have the same start and now he is settling into our team he will prove his worth sooner rather than later. He has already taken the first step today with a great goal and a wonderful performance.

Lucas was epic today, Cant complain with any ones peeformance today !

I agree, lucas has answered all of his critics and done it in style. just wish he wouldnt give silly fouls away in silly positions. that is my only fault with him.

Can only agree with the general euphoria and long may it last. Just thought I'd mention how good Lucas was today especially the fact that he was even beating Kevin Davies in the aerial challenges so much so that he was hooked. Does anyone know if Uruguay are playing this week? Hopefully not!!

wondering where all the henderson haters are today? crawled back under your rocks maybe? if you have then just stay there

ryanmc73

We should not get carried away with our performance, but this does show the real quality we have got. And if we carry on playing like this, we will be in the top four. So lets get off the players back, and support the team. Ross

I suspect many of the Henderson haters are former Lucas haters. They were probably briefly considering becoming Downing haters before deciding to become Adam haters. They will now become Carroll haters. They don't hide under rocks, they just find someone new to hate.
Red Steve

I totally agree mate, no point in getting carried away yet. point is they shouldnt have been on his hendersons back in first place, just hope he keeps putting in performances like that to keep them quiet :)

Lmao red steve, actually pissin myself at your post, partly because its so funny but mostly because its so true lol

ryanmc73

I was a Lucas hater two seasons ago, and who wasn't? But I have supported every new player we have signed and I think all of them can only benefit the team.

LFC Eaton

I and many others weren't Lucas haters two years ago - in fact, and you might want to consider it as a new philosophy, I don't hate any of our own players. Even the less good ones. You see, most players perform better with encouragment rather stick. Funny that.

Had a good day, spent it with my daughter. went to the pub after and due to work, and no sky havnt seen a full liverpool game this season. after a really good performance and a couple of magners i went home happy. keep this pass and move going, and with a bit of luck we could do better than we think. thought out left side looked strong, enrique had a stormer, and downings crosses were superb. Hickin' superb performance...cohesion, spirit, cutting-edge forward play, comfortable in all areas.
Very, very impressed with Henderson, Adam, Enrique, Lucas and Kuuyt. Skirtel and Suarez were excellent and Carroll was a decent option to bring on.
Loved Downing and can't see us playing without him.
Downing and Enrique on the left with Adam as a Left Midfielder.........Henderson, Kuuyt and Maxi will be pivotal in midfield/forward positions.
Coates watched the game from the Main Stand and will have been impressed by the atmosphere and the performance........Sign him !!....Carra too slow, Agger/ Kelly too injury-prone, Ayala too Norwich and Kyrgiakos too sold!!....Wisdom too young and Coady too young and much better in midfield.
Please sign Coates and Dann if possible. Also, Brian Ruiz or Bellamy but where does that leave Carroll?
Well, I'd have Andy Carroll on the bench for every game as he gives opponents the squits ....young,beastly and potentially lethal!
Imagine Coates, Carroll, Skirtel and Agger going up for a corner!!!!
Henderson was very good today and scored a cracker. His critics will be feeling a little put out!
Lucas was collossal in midfield......stand up you doubters!
Downing is a massive addition and exactly what we needed......anyone disagree?
Enrique is our solution at left back , the best since Alun Kennedy!!
Adam has slotted in great.....some of his passing has been sublime but he's not the quickest.
Suarez is an incredible player and I would have Suarez and Carroll over Torres and Babel 100% of the time....no question.
The improvements in every area since the turn of the year have been nothing short of incredible. The fact that Gerrard has barely been missed (apart from his leadership qualities) speaks volumes.
Reina,Enrique, Coates, Lucas, Downing,Suarez and Carroll will be massive this season.
I couldn't be happier with what the new people are putting together. Any doubters should cast their minds back to clueless Roy rubbing his head on the touchline, playing for draws and praising the opposition!!

Bolton can keep Cahill! Horror show from the CB today - couldn't keep with Kuyt and Suarez movement SingRed

We made Enrique look bad last year too, but he's a good player. Not Cahill's fault that we rock! If he really is deciding to join us or Arsenal, that game will have given him food for thought - thats for sure!

Coates is just fine for me. Carra, Agger, Skrtel, Coates and Wilson - good options I reckon. Very good options. Kelly too if need be.

when Afellay joined Barca wasnt it for only 2.5 million pound? Why didnt we go for him if he was that cheap !!! The same with Honda when we could of got him for 5 million. Do you think we could get him this season? Barca probaly let him go for 6 million since the arrival of fabregas and sanchez have took his place and now he is further down the pecking order. I believe we could get him this window or january

Yeh - yeh, Coates was also 14 times cheaper 3 months ago. Unfortunately, if we don't spot them early, we have to pay through the nose.

What did I say about Suarez being like Keegan ?
From the first time I saw him months ago.
Dropping hand grenades all over the pitch.
Even The Anfield Iron has come out and said it.
And I did say about Kelly's hamstrings as well.
Hope Glen J is not too far away from fitness.
Anyway, great day.

What do you mean by Kelly's hamstring?
Is he injury prone or what?

Kelly is unfortunately VERY injury-prone.

Have to say that anyone who thinks we don't need a LB need their heads looking at.
Yes, GJ can cover there adequately and, yes, the young lads can do so likewise, if on a more temporary basis.
My assertion, however, stems from fears of Kelly's hamstring problems. For a young player to pull up like he did at West Ham last season, causes me to fear that he will suffer more of the same in the future.
Anyone who's played sport will recognise that dodgy hamstrings are a recurrent injury. Owen's had problems, Nando, loads more.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Kelly go down with it again this season.
Shame but true.
The Real KB

I posted this a while back mate. Hamstrings are a ****, especially haring up and down that flank. So we'll need GJ back or the youngsters covering, unfortunately. Not trying to be negative or a smart a***, but that's just how it is with those injuries.
The Real KB

Read this about 3 or 4 times can't make head nor tail of it?

sat in the pub in manchester smiling at the league table - 9 games last season to get 7 points and already there after 3- brilliant performance today King Kenny getting us playing some good football too.
henderson today plyed really well couple of great crosses, instant throughall for suarez and helped defensively his best performance so far and will get better.
Carlie adam did we pay 6m or 9m well if we had paid 20m it would have been a bargain, his passing today was excellent and incisive his corners led to one goal could have scored more from them - just brilliant delivery. stuart downing quickly turing into one of my favourites, unselfish, works hard has pace, good delivery and is always on the move 20m looks a steal to me. finally to luis no words can describe him totally, just awesome will have to do and he comes off and is so disappointed at being subbed he already is a cult hero long may he stay and play for us worth way more than the 22m spent.shame about the last munute goal a clean sheet was earned by the defence although lucas was as good a holding midfielder as i have seen, won virtuaklly every tackle intercepted all day and didnt let bolton win the 2nd ball all game an absolutely brilliant performance by him. i havent even mentioned enrique who just looks solid, built for a battle with pace to spare and skill in abundance we payed way too much for him(removes tongue from cheek) one or two of the locals looking a little worried and thinking twice about writing us off so early.
god bless john henry and the board, king kenny and the backroom staff and mostly the players for giving me and you that little bit of belief back and lets enjoy the season for the first time for a long time lfc are a pleasure to watch and will only get better.

stevie g to return when? or will he get his place back(lol), cotes in the stand about to sign will there be more?

Great team performance tonight.
Don,t think KD shudda hooked Louis off though...he didn't look happy at being substituted, and was enjoying tormenting the Bolton defence. He was still full of running and didn,t look tired.

To be fair mate he'd run himself into the ground and he did look a little...laboured shall i say, he could of done the 90 but theres just no need, 3 nil up, our best player has been going all summer, he may have been p'd off but kenny knows best, 20 minutes on his arse will do him more good than going for 90 every week !!! never doubt the King !!

I agree and with that ref he wasnt going to get any joy

That thug of a left-back Robinson was out for blood by that stage. KK took him off to protect him. Imagine he got injured with the game as good as over, KK would be massacred for leaving him on by many here.

Good management.

if there is a god what better than to see us regain our crown under the King.....im getting carried away but we were like liverpool of old.... wave after wave, the biggest compliment for the team is how gerrard is hardly mentioned to be missing, after being the 1 & only for so long...
apart from the time when the shackles were off... benitez era, ive never been as happy with the reds as i am now...just to see liverpool play like liverpool, pass & move....seemples but beautiful

I read somewhere this is our best start to a season for 17 years I found this realy hard to believe but checked it out its true I was sure we,d had better or equally good starts but no so just go,s to show were doing a lot better with kenny back and the new signings we have brought in an were ususally a lot better team in the second half of the season if we can stay near the top who knows we might just do it im probably been a bit too hopeful but seeing how were playing right now I cant rule it out we could push the mancs all the waylets hope every one stays fit an gerrard comes back better than ever he,l be like gettin a new 30 million pouund signing for the first time in years I have beleif that we can do great things lets get behind the team an see

Great performance- could have been 6 if we hadn't taken it easy for the last 30mins.

So they say the good decisions and bad decisions from refs even out over the season- so after probart's performance we must be due a few penalties, corners and a Passback decision. He was awful- good thing we were awesome despite him.
Jason

The ref had a good game nearly every decision apart from the passback was spot on

Missed 2 penalties as well buddy. Ref was dire.

Luis was tripped by Zac Knight's HAND,The ref got that one wrong too but got most things right,it's just when they get the obvious one's wrong you can see why fan's are upset but as one fan posted we did the business anyway and they didn't effect us getting the 3 pts just hope our final postition is not effected by goal difference which on todays display there is an awful lot of goals to come from the way we are playing.

Suarez grabbed by knight in box? Suarez should have had a penalty when Robinson fouled him later on, The obvious passback, at least 3 corners to them when should have been goal kicks, said Adam dived when if he hadn't Cahill would have wrecked him. That's at least 3 very good goal scoring opportunities and conceeding wrong corners against a big team like Bolton can potentially lead to goals. Terrible ref I'm afraid!!
Jason

Think u r wrong what about the suarez penalty knight clearly grabbed his leg

red jonno

Don't listen to Wilkins...the ref couldn't do wrong as far as the slapheaded Manc Cockney was concerned. I went to the game and watched it when I got home and we were denied ...could've been more but for the ref (however, I will concede he was un-sighted on a couple and had a good game-ish)

What is the point in ray wilkins all he does is agree with the ref even when he is wrong

Hi ed's, this isn't a rumour but more a request for your personal opinions. After seeing Carroll today I am starting (i'd like to stress, just starting) to have question marks over the players quality and the money we spent. In your opinion, do you think it was a good investment and overall a good player who will warrant his price tag?
Thanks for your site, not enough people show appreciation. {Ed002's Note - Caroll is young and a real hadful. Forget the financial aspects of it.}

Well said ed002. Also - If Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea all have £30m+ strikers on the bench, then why can't we! It's a squad game nowadays and Big Andy will play his part too. All in good time.

BJH YNWA

Spot on lad's,forget the price it will mean nothing come May when hopefully Carroll has played his part in getting CL football back and hopefully a league title, its early days but we'll need every memeber of our squad and if like today he starts on the bench he's a good option to have,he'll come good don't worry.

Eric The Real Red
YNWA

It's not Carrolls fault, like ed says he is a real handfull. He does'nt determine how much money a club pay for him.I would much rather have him in our squad then to be up againist him. Also,it looks to me like the other players take the easy way out when he is on the pitch. There 1st thought is to take the easy option and hoof it up to him.
AL

Carroll takes too many touches and seems to lose possession to easy, the ball is in the air far longer with him on the pitch and liverpool play free-flowing football without him

Hendo came good
Downing excellent

Carroll didnt have time to impact the game in fairness to him
Great spirit you could feel it with all the players

For those fans who have voiced thier negative opinion about the purchases kk has made this season.......shame on u for not backing the club and manager.
The Dark Red

Mostly its an observation based on performances but i'm sure every liverpool supporter wants the players to do well. can't people be allowed to crit now a days?

The thing is 'crit' is pretty much all a lot of you do - you write young players off after three games as s**t then are surprised when you get it right back at you. Some people don't seem to understand how important time and confidence are when it comes to a players'/teams development, luckily Kenny Dalglish does...

Everyone is allowed to voice there opinion but when the season has only started and in some cases before a ball was kicked people started knocking players and KK that voice should be into a pillow, if you put it out there your asking to be told to shut it as ye with little faith can feck off.Maybe next May your concerns will be true but until then support the club Mr No name.

Think its the lack of balance in criticism and the feast or famine attitude to performances from some so called 'fans' who at first opportunity jump to slate Kennys signings but i suspect have little more experience than a few games on xbox picking players which infuriates true Liverpool supporters...constructive criticism is one thing, totally debasing players after joining a new club and playing 2 or 3 games is the problem. Hopefully todays performance by these same players will keep these so called fans off their backs for a while but i doubt it !!

Hi Ed
I got it right again
I told the scoreline before the arsenal game n it was correct n now again before the Bolton game n it's correct too.

About the game
SUAREZ is the best , he's defending ,in the midfie

How much did you win? {Ed002's Note - He gets a hamper of goodies from the Eds and use of Ed007 to do anything he wants with for three hours.}

I was just waiting for Jamie rednapp to say at the end that if Liverpool don't win the league this season, he was going to retire from sky sports.

I think we have a chance. Amazing performance against a good team. Delighted for Henderson. It's time to go out and celebrate. YNWA

What an excellent team performance. Well done lads.

Reina- Solid good distribution, no chance with the goal. 6

Agger- Good defensive display and good distribution. 7

Enrique- This guy looks immense and an absolute bargain for the price. Excellent in defence with pace and power, also really good in conjunction with Downing. 8

Kelly- Did nothing wrong, replaced by Skrtel after tweaking his hamstring-hopefully not a serious injury. 6

Carragher- A good performance, unlucky with the goal due to a lack of concentration, however he did win the ball back with a good tackle which luckily for Bolton Klasnic put it away. 6

Skrtel- Played very well when he came on on, scored an excellent header from the corner. Surprisingly good movement at RB. 7

Downing- Provided excellent pace and width all game, linked really well with Enrique. Some of the crosses he put in today were sublime. 8

Lucas- Formidable in the centre; so many tackles and also very good control and distribution. 8

Adam- Passing today was fantastic, great delivery for the Skrtel goal, and a quality finish on his weaker foot. Very calm on the ball, hardly ever gets tackled. 8

Henderson- Ran his socks off, a much improved performance, well taken goal and some good crosses from the right. Deserved his goal. Lets support this lad and give him a chance. (Suarez gave him the Man of the Match Champagne) 8

Kuyt- Looked a different player from the Exeter game, some excellent touches, linking with Suarez well. Ran the Bolton defence ragged.(Carroll can learn from him). 8

Suarez- Grace, power, pace, vision, movement skill, and the desire to win written all over his face. Man of the match. (If he stays injury free on this form as good as anyone in the league) so happy he is ours. 9

Carroll- Came on for Suarez, had a couple of touches and did ok. I expect he will get better as he settles in. 6

To summarise: A completely dominant display against a team that can cause problems on their day. 'WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE'!!!!

Vinnie LFC

Maxi- Had a few touches but did not really get into the game. 6

Great result today! So hard to pick a man of the match, every single player gave their all today. Thought Suarez was amazing, Kuyt worked his socks off as usual. The midfield was totally bossed by Adam, Henderson, Downing, and Lucas, who were all superb. And the defenders all were spot on...momentary lapse in concentration for the goal at the end, but other than that looked great. Enrique gets my vote for signing of the season when you consider how much he cost. For all those who doubt Henderson, I went to lots of Sunderland games last season (I live near the Stadium of Light) and he was class in every game I saw. Bit like Lucas: you sometimes don't see what he does in the game when you're focusing on the forwards and their goals, but he works very hard, and his passes are class, as shown today. I also get to plenty of Newcastle games, and any Carroll doubters let me reassure you that the boy is class. Just look at our game at St. James' Park last season and you'll know what I mean.
So let's get behind the team lads, amd no more doubts...the only person you're hurting is the team you love.

Well said that man.

Vinnie LFC

I also saw Carroll live against us at St James Park last season , he was unplayable , which begs the question , why did he look so disinterested when he came on today ?

He come on 4 20mins,cut the lad sum slack

27 Aug 2011 19:38:00
Any fans going to be negative about that performance or any players?

Here are my ratings:

Reina - 9/10
Skrtel - 9/10
Carragher - 8/10 (slipped up at the end)
Agger - 8/10
Enrique - 8/10
Downing - 9/10
Adam - 8/10
Lucas - 9/10
Henderson - 9/10
Kuyt - 7/10
Suarez - 10/10

Kelly - 7/10
Carroll - 6/10 (not enough time)
Maxi - 7/10 (not enough time)

An absolutely fantastic game of football with all the lads giving 110%, I enjoyed every minute (except for the last 2). The link up play down the left was superb and we are gifted down that side now. Henderson showed what he is about and that at just 21 he is going to get better and better, he played very well. Adams passing and crosses were superb, along with the goal with his wrong foot. Downing and Enrique linked well and showed great skill, strength and determination. Kuyt linked well with Suarez, and needs to be played more in the middle. Agger and Skrtel were looking for goals and seemed to love the game. Jamie C commanded from the back, except for his slip up, but everyone makes mistakes. Lucas was absolutely brilliant, this lad has grown into a very good footballer, he looks confident, great in defensive and his passing and eye for the spaces is brilliant. And finally Luis Suarez, what a player! He is so hungry for the ball, he works very hard helping his team mates in defence and is unselfish when attacking, looks for the pass and destroyed Bolton's defence. On top of that we have Andy Carroll, Maxi, Raul M and all of the youth boys.....and who can forget Stevie G to come back.

How can any fan be complaining, we played brilliantly tonight and have great strength in depth and players who work hard for the club and play with passion.

These lads haven't played together long but already they have shown class.

Happy times ahead for Liverpool

P.s. just to make it a bit better, were signing more players!

Hope you all feel the same,

scousetoby

I can complain. As a fan how on earth can you give Kuyt a 7. He was instrumental in everything today. Worked his socks right off. Other than that no negatives from me for the team. Great result

What a super performance! Lucas superb again 100% commitment and will to win! Suarez infectious!
The pass from Suarez to Downing leading up to Hendersons goal was Superb. Then the pass from Adam to Suarez and he tried to dink it round the other the side of the goalie was also stunning!
I Love Kenny Daglish!

Ed i think the referee today was an absolute joke !! In my opinion we had 3 or 4 good shouts for a penalty and we got nothing !! Disgraceful in my opinion !! Although we most definitely played our best game in a long time !! If things had of went our way we could have broken the Premier League scoring record !! Brilliant performance , top of the league , 4th at worst by the end of the weekend , only bad point was the goal in the last minute and the referee decisions !! What's your views on the game Ed ??
Ah well !!
Cheers mate :)
IrishRed. {Ed002's Note - Sadly I have been on the road and missed it.}

Just be happy those decisions went against us on a day where we didn't need them! hopefully when we do need them we will get them.

Ed do you think this could be our year ? Cheers mate :)
IrishRed. {Ed002's Note - I expect Liverpool will be fighting for Eurpean places - I think that it is probably not yet time for the title.}

I thought the ref was outstanding today..

Why not the title , our biggest problem over the last few seasons has been beating the lesser teams we always do well against the top teams . so if we get the points against the lesser teams and in march /april we are still in the mix . we have as good a chance as any

Great result. Shame to concede a late goal. Just to summarise, the Player who runs the show today didn't contribute one goal or assist. Although he was still electric! Number 7, we love you. So the other players stepped up.
Kuyt (too old, no quality), set up Henderson (waste of money, flop), then Adam (the guy we got instead of Mata and Sissoko, what a waste of money) set up Skrtel (waste of space). Then Kuyt (too slow, no vision) set up Adam (the slow, small team player / flop). My point being with this post, the judgemental fans jumped on the players backs too quickly, and a lot of you have been silenced tonight. Great team performance tonight. Such a shame Kelly came off, we'd have kept a clean sheet for sure. Skrtel is great back up, but with three central defenders, it hurt the defensive balance of the team. Hope it isn't a serious injury. Everyone was great tonight.
My question to anybody who can answer, how long ago was it when Liverpool last topped the league overnight? I have a feeling it goes back beyond this decade. We never start the seeason well enough to get that high. However i have a feeling Rafa may have done it in Alonso's last year here at the club. Does anybody know for sure though?

We were first for ages when we finished 2nd right?

Carragher's time is up...

Is Skrtel's for giving away the penalty on Wednesday and Flannagan's for making the mistake that led to the equaliser on the opening day?

Invalid point about Skrtel and Flanagan , they are not 43 .

Carra has still a big part to play for us,bar his last min slip up he played great, organisation skill's are very important and Carra is blessed with them,I think if the scoreline was different Carra would have booted the ball into touch instead of trying a deft knock down pass.Great display from every single player.

27 Aug 2011 18:55:53
Isn't it strange how there is space for players to run into in front of goal and we are scoring at will? It is almost like someone who normally takes up a lot of space and loses the ball when it is played to his feet isn't in the starting line up today... At some point you got to play the players that are in form to ensure you win games that you should win. I'm not saying Carroll is a bust, but we look alive right now without him. Bring him on the 75th for a while and when he starts to show some of that ability he had at Newcastle, throw him back in the starting 11.

Do us a favour soft lad and pee off. Cant you just give credit where its due. We have different combinations for different teams. There'll be matches with smaller, less physical teams where Andy will play and terrorise them.

Can people not see that he is a perfect foil not only only for Suarez but the team in general. It takes 2 men to mark him. Minimum. Now if you are a fan how about celebrating the win.

My good lord, WHAT a player Luis Suarez is. One in a million for me. And, not bashing Carroll, but we look SO much more fluid without him on the pitch. Great to see everyone smiling and laughing. Superb.

Ash

SUAREZ F******G INCREDIBLE AS USUAL ! , he is world class and we really need to win the league this year or the next and or some silver to keep him ,my fear is that barca will come sniffing and in a couple of years he will go ,if we are not performing at the top level that we should be. He is just too good to not be playing at the TOP .Great performance by the team but would not have been as good if suarez was missing. Andy obviously has to play and i am sure the KING will figure out how to best utilise him but it seems like we are better without him at the moment, still early days and will be so happy if and when Andy becomes the player we all want him to be GOOD TIMES AHEAD, thanks KK and JOHN HENRY..........kingkennykop7

The arrogance of the man is truly breathtaking. {Ed002's Note - I would nst read too much in to it. He is just keeping the focus off the team.}

Playing some sublime football. Quick, on the floor, loads of movement. Similar to how we finished last season where we looked like we'd score 4 or 5 every match. The link: No Carroll.

...That's not a swipe at Carroll though, he'll win us matches and will score 15-20 this season. It's just the reality, he can't play this type of football.

-Shane.

Yea Shane, Carroll has superb feet too, our players need to understand that.

I know there is talk of Coates almost signed, but sure when yoy talk of strength in depth, KK would look at the situation and try to bring in Dann and or Cahill also, cos come on, Carra is finished. After Arsenals measily offer, if i were KK, i'd be in there with a bid of 12 million + Ngog
I have a feeling before the window closes, we will not only see Coates but possibly 2 more players, a CB and a Striker

Some supporter you are saying Carra is finished. I think the coaching staff will have a better idea than you and he'll be more than aware of his capabilities.

He is finished you muppet

Why don't you go and tell him to his face that you think he's finished? I'm sure he'll take your opinion seriously and hang up his boots immediately.

what an interesting little stat that was, just how important is suarez to us...???

since he arrived and played his first league game in febuary (stoke) we have NEVER scored a goal without him on the pitch, lol, he's just THAT important, coates will be a quality signing but i think he is also coming in to keep our man suarez very happy, they will be best mates, they will both feel more settled with each other there, the vultures will NO DOUBT be sniffing around suarez at the end of the season, i don't mind liverpool spending 7 million on a friend for luis, lol

What about the win at Chelsea last season?

Thats just pure look an suarez has hardly missed a match

Great site eds,

Quick mention what a player juan mata looks like, we missed out big time, hes dad was even saying wed be good for mata, why go and get bellamy when mata could've been our winger/striker, such a waist, missed opportunity signing of the season.

Bruce

When will people learn that if we didn't try to sign a player we DIDN'T MISS OUT on them.

Does Mata have a good waist? I never noticed.

And when will you stop acting like a dim person and understand we enquired and held discussions with his father so safe to say we considered signing him but opted not too in the end, what a bad decision it was and apparently we are getting bellamy to do the Same job mata could've done. Thats my point, mistake of the season.

Bruce

Mata £25 million?
Bellamy free

We are not Man City or Chelsea, money has to be spent wisely, this is the real world not football manager!

MR EM

Ha well played mate his waist is small but not signing him was a waste.

Bruce

Enquired and held discussions with his father doesn't mean we actually tried to sign him though. Did we make a bid Mr Know-it-all?

As the Eds keep pointing out, we DID try to sign Downing INSTEAD of Mata and we got him so we DID NOT miss out on Mata.

Mistake of the season? How can you say that at the end of August. So much doom and gloom from you and others on here. Stay away from heights, rope and gas ovens; in fact, avoid them like you avoid dictionaries.

So he's scored one goal so far...
But so have nearly all our new signings. It's not like we've been doing nothing with the money.

Ok i guess you need educating mr em, first off we clearly have money to spend having spent over 100 Million on transfers so far, 2nd the owners have come out and said for k k to spend even more, and as for money spent wisely, mata is 22 so has resale value, shirts will be sold like crazy, hed have great chemistry with all our growing latin speaking players and not to mention hes already a world cup Winner and full international,.so a wise buy would you not say? Yes Its not football manager Its reality so wake up! Out of interest does mr em stand for ediotic m o r a n....

Bruce

It was always Downing or Mata. So far I have no reason to think KD got it wrong (although I haven't taken Mata's waist into consideration).
Red Steve

Shirt sales don't actually make all that much money, as the Eds keep telling us.

'Latin speaking players'? I wasn't aware that any of our squad spoke Latin! Latin-based languages, yes, but not Latin. Furthermore, language doesn't mean he'll have chemistry with other players.

And what's an "ediotic moran"? How ironic, Bruce, that you attempt to ridicule someone for being idiotic (note how to spell it) with that spelling and those arguments of yours.

Have fun drowning your sorrows tonight bewailling the fact we haven't signed Mata and Kenny is such a bad judge of player. I'll be watching the highlights of our great performance against Bolton.

Mr Benn

If you saw the chelsea game you would now only when mata came on did chelsea look like scoring, so he did more than just score, hes class and we missed out big time, and instead Were going after a has bin in bellamy rather than a young talent like mata, also i spelt m o r an moran before you give me stick Its a spelling mistake, neway yes mr em does it stand for ediotic m o r an....

Bruce

What age are you Bruce? You come across as about 10 years old. Do your parents know you're on here talking to strangers and embarrassing yourself?

Anyway, it'll be your bedtime soon. Night night, and keep up the spelling practice because you really need it.

Neway yes mr em does it stand for ediotic m o r an....

The minute the name calling starts that's when i realise i am bantering with a child, so it ends here, grow up son!

PS. What does ''ediotic '' mean?

Hope we go for Affelay, cant get into barca team (I really dont know why he thought he had a chance of replacing villa messi or pedro in the first place) so seems reasonable. Would finish off our signings nicely after Coates signs.

Briefly reading through the posts over the past couple of days, I am picking up alot of negatives from the ed's. Does this mean that, obviously apart from Bellamy & Coates, they do not expect any more additions to the first team squad in this window?

One player that I believe we wont see as a player is Bolton's Cahill. I know a close friend of his & for the past two years he has maintained when he leaves he will only go to Man ure or Chelsea.

John Henry. How much money has John Henry spent out of his own pocket?

Also is it true they are considering mortgaging the club for £333million.

He doesn't need to spend any money out of his own pocket. That really isn't a sustainable business model. As for your second point, absolute b****cks
AC

Anyone at the match today sing a song for Coates. Make him feel like he belongs. Just make sure he signs.

27 Aug 2011 15:01:40
Any word on the fee (or lack of) for Insua? This guy is a decent young player, what kind of amateurs do we have at the club if we can't get somebody to pay a couple of million for the guy.

A decent young player who also happened to be overweight and not good enough for Liverpool.

Not a crazy suggestion considering Fiorentina bid 5 million for him a year or two ago.

Whether he's good enough or not is irrelevant. We're not running a charity here where players who "aren't good enough" get chicked out for free when they have some sort of resle value. N'gog probably isn't good enough either, does that mean we hand him over to Bolton for free?

27 Aug 2011 14:47:47
i think liverpoolfc struck gold with henry ,a old stadium and a pile of players worth nothing we cant give these players away still its not my money but concerning to say the least

Haven't you noticed the crap slowly going out of liverpool, it's quite difficult to get rid of that many bad players with such huge wages who lets add WERE'NT BROUGHT UNDER HENRY, idiot,
Gone - aquilani, insua, konchesky, jovanavic, Kyrgiakos, el zhar, Ayala,
thats 7 piles of crap of the wage bill, with LFC still trying to get rid of poulsen, cole and ngog,
oh and we've only spent over 100 million, and something will happen wit the stadium and you still find reason to moan???????? you must have been devastated when hicks and gillet left because you obviously liked things when they were being run into the ground,

It wouldnt matter if there were no players or stadium Liverpool FC would still be worth every penny he paid... think of the following around the globe and the potential marketing.

I have no idea what this post is about?

I thought it would take 2 years at least to re-shape our squad. I think we've done well clearing out the dead wood. This Kenny Dalglish fella doesn't mess about!

Gone -

Stephen Darby (loan, Rochdale)
Paul Konchesky (£1.5m, Leicester City) Gerardo Bruna (undisclosed, Blackpool) Peter Gulacsi (loan, Hull)
Martin Hansen (loan, Bradford City)
Dean Bouzanis (free, Melbourne Victory)
Tom Ince (undisclosed, Blackpool)
Daniel Ayala (£800, Norwich City)
Nabil El Zhar (free, Levante)
Milan Jovanovic (£700k, Anderlecht)
Chris Mavinga (£900k, Rennes)
Sotiris Kyrgiakos (free, VfL Wolfsburg), Daniel Pacheco (loan, A. Madrid)
Alberto Aquilani (loan, AC Milan)
Emiliano Insua (undisclosed, S. Lisbon)

There's talk of more departures in the next few days too - including Cole, Poulson and N'Gog. Sorry if i've forgotten anyone but I reckon we've been doing a good job getting some of these guys off the wage bill.

BJH YNWA

Do you prefer the old owners?
did he invest in those players? NO.
Is it his job to offload them? NO.
Has he invested millions and cares about the club? YES.

Insua was very poor, on loan at galatasry n they ddnt want him either
5gold stars

Aqua is still being paid by lfc. get your facts in order.

To the last poster - I said 'some of these players off the wage bill'

Another nameless dimwit. Just like the unnamed above that - if anyone knows what he's on about! (probably the same guy though)

I didn't make any false claims you reactionary t**t..... learn to read. Do see lists of wage arrangements above?

BJH YNWA (getting sick of unnamed idiots now)

ps. Are we really paying Aqua's wages? In full? If you know i'd be interested in what the deal is, and where you got the info. I have my doubts that we're paying his full wage on loan. But I would be happy to be enlightened. Cheers. {Ed002's Note - Only a contribution to it - assume it to be 1M euro.}

This was the answer john henry gave to a journalist who asked if he thought liverpool were overspending on players this season, all the people who seem to keep moaning about how much we spent on henderson, carroll etc (as if the money came out of their pocket) might wanna sit up and take notice

"Everyone seemed to think that Liverpool was over-valuing British players this summer. But when the Premier League has the whole world to choose players from and there is a substantial homegrown rule, British players are going to be highly valued. Look at the prices paid this year for Conor Wickham and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. At Liverpool we have purchased each player for a different reason. It doesn't mean we are going to solve all of our issues in one season, but we are headed in the right direction."

Just been reading the owners interview in the telegraph.
What are everyone's thought on the stadium issue. It seems obvious we will be building a brand new one. I didn't understand if he intends to build a 60k stadium but is waiting to get as much money he can from sponsorship. Or if he intends to build a much bigger one. Would be great if we could have a bigger one than man united. On big euro nights we could fill 100k seats. Not sure how many we could fill against most premier league teams though.
Would be great to hear everyone's views.
MIKEY

Would be nice to have a bigger stadium than utd 80,000 seater i think we could fill most weeks!
Skurks

He stated that it would be pointless spending £300 million pounds to increase capacity by 15,000.
Coupled with what was mentioned about the difficulties of expanding the existing stadium, it suggests to me they're edging toward a new development with a capacity much higher than 60,000.

The Booter

A great opportunity for fans on the waiting list and it should be 80.000 because it would be nice to let more kids/ youth see the team , keep the ticket price low for them and oap and we would have no trouble filling it every week.......lfc

That's what I thought. I just hope we go above united. It would be a massive shame to go to just below them. He seems really focused on the long term success and increasing revenue. that to me suggests a bigger stadium than united.
MIKEY

Any idea what his view is on sharing the stadium? Probably not very realistic given Everton's money woes but it makes too much financial sense for it not to be on the table.

Hopefully we can build an 80,000+ seater. A successful Liverpool would be even more attractive from a marketing perspective meaning our revenues would be closing in on uniteds! it might also mean a range of cheaper tickets for some premier league games... I think that would go a long way to placating any doubts some fans may have??

Richards

Ayres has stated in the past the new build will be 60 000 and alot of revenue will be gained from the extra corporate areas.Although it would be nice to have a bigger stadium than old trafford it wont happen but we will have a new stadium providing far greater revenue than we have now and for that we should all be gratefull
TED

Why not e.mail , send letters to the owners , and fan groups ask the owners about 80.ooo or more for the new ground, this is our chance to be the bigest and the best again........lfc

I dont we should underestimate him anyway. I didn't think we would spend so much money on transfers this summer especially after Carroll and Suarez. So I won't be ruling out an 80k stadium. It might be a 60k that will later expand but even still, I wouldn't swap our owners with anybody else. I am glad he came out and more or less ruled out a groundshare. Nobody wants that.
MIKEY

HI, visiting Celtic fan here, The Real KB was on our site talking about this site so thought I would pop in.
What do all you reds think about having no European nights to look forward to this season. Liverpool and europe are synonamous (spelling?) in my eyes. My team Celtic are also struggling in europe but we may get a reprieve, lucky yes but I will take it. Cannot wait to see Celtic v Liverpool again in big euro nights. Hail hail timalloy

For me personally I think once the 4th spot went last season, we decided to ditch Europe altogether. The Thursday Sunday routine wouldve crippled us whilst we were trying to re- establish ourselves closer to the top of the league. I'm happy for us to concentrate on domestic football this season and, if we're thereabouts come Chtistmas, we can give the title a shot. As for Lpool Celtic games, great bring them on always a great natch and it's great see the scots lads around town. I remember when you lot came down for that friendly just after we rebuilt the Anfield road end and we had to close it afterwards cause the noise and the jumpin the Celtic lads did had damaged the foundations - now that is serious support my mate haga
Red Heart

Ahoy mate, Celtic vs. Liverpool would be wonderful in Cl groups!

Considering the repair work that has been needed at Liverpool since them two cowboys left I for one am not too worried to miss a year of playing in Europe.

Don't get me wrong I truely want to be back in Europe and dominating again but for now I am happy with the rebuilding process which is happening at Liverpool.

Once we are back in Europe it will be onward and upward for us and I will also look forward to big games like Celtic V Liverpool.
K79

Celtic and rangers need to revamp the spl , or move to the english championship, with chance of geting into prem, there is no money in scotland anymore, and if it contines there will be less chance of champ-leauge footie, with even quaiflying harder every year, the two teams are too big to stay in a poor spl in the long-term ........lfc

Park Chu-Young on his way to Arsenal for a medical.

I am absolutely gutted. I bet they get him cheap as well....

We have missed out big time here on a quality player who WANTED to play for us.

Has it occurred to you that we don't want him in the first place? SingRed

But has'nt he gotta go back to Korea soon to do his national service? Alphared

We haven't 'missed out' if we didn't try to sign him. I'm sure if Kenny had wanted him, he would already be a Liverpool player.

How have we missed out?
We don't know if KK was interested and he has need played in the premiership. He could be rubbish

I know think he would of been a great signing he's young and fits standerd charted's bill in bringing in a asian player for the shirt sales which most probably would of paid his transfer fee he would of been a better option than bellamy! But who knows the deal aint done yet for arsenal?

just watched some highlights with Coates and the lad is amazingly good on the ball - that is to add to his "monster" defensive qualities.

Also it is refreshing to see that young J. Flanagan is not being victimized after a mistake and is being given playing time. Unlike Hodgson, who "shelved" some players after defeat in the Carling Cup last year. Wilson has to go on loan as he needs experience and will mature into a good player for us in the future.

rhi

Wilson needs to be loaned to a top Championship Club or a premier league club that poses no real threat to us

I don't think we'd loan him to either of the Manchester clubs lol

Bodgsons misuse of our young players still rangles with me... Agreed Wilson should go on loan, to a English club though because Scottish football is, well, just terrible quality... personally I think wisdom is a better prospect, the kids a fantastic prospect!!

ed if we sign coates, bellamy (both very likely), ruiz and afellay i will be absolutely delighted with this summers work, and i am sure all the players kk buys just need a bit of time if they havnt set the house on fire already, imo suarez, downing, enrique have impressed
carroll, adam, henderson haven't and doni hasnt playe. the 3 that havnt played are top players they just need our support and patience, personally i think dat kk will get the side to gel and we will definitely be in the title race if we buy the players at the top of this post

Awesome thankyou. Man I love john Henry. He's such a good fit as owner of our club. If you look at this interview he pays tribute to his rivals in baseball, as well as tipping his hat to the difficult job referees do in the prem.......the guy is a consummate gentleman.
It's so refreshing to have the Liverpool way reinvigorated from the top down.....we don't just win, we win in the right way, showing everyone how it should be done. Fair enough it's harder, but that's why we're Liverpool. Because we're the only ones with the stones to do it properly.

Man utd can keep all their corruption, their media power and bullying tactics. They can mince around thinking they're a cut above everyone as much as they like, paying off people here, intimidating people there....it's just gonna make it all the sweeter when we smash the world to pieces with our honour still intact.....Duckula

To (YNWA) Adam

Man Utd's midfield are not in any way world class. All the players you have mentioned are decent players, but they do know their job very well. Cleverly suffers from the phenomenom that just beause he is English that he is going to be a world beater. Anderson came with an £18 million price tag yet he is a long way to living up to that. Fletcher decent, Carrick decent. Young has started well at OT, Nani is skillful but maybe inconsistent, Valencia is very effective at his job.

The thing about Utd is that they are so good at their job, they consistently find a team mate, they defend as a unit & they are always putting he ball into dangerous areas. This is more down to good coaching than outstanding footballers.

They also have the luxury of being a successful team, so its easier for Fergie to take his time with maybe Anderson if he doesnt hit the ground running or even if he bombs like Veron, Hargreaves etc. We dont have that luxury, but this is what KK is working towards. Not football superstars, but consistently good players that can be coached to do the job correctly. I think in 12 months we have come on leaps & bounds. It really surprises me that some fans fail to acknowledge that. Jova,Poulen, Ngog, Cole, Konch, El Zhar, Aqualaini to Adam, Downing, Carroll, Suarez, Hendo, Enrique & hopefully Coates & Bellamy. I know who i would rather have.

I had the privilege last night of witnessing ninety minutes of the best centre back performance in this or many recent seasons .

Now , I am not advocating a move for him but , Javier Alejandro Mascherano , stand up and take a bow !!!

There was one clearing header in the first half that was world class .

99.9% of the fans don't give a sh#t what you negatives think and support the team. I would love to hear your negative comments at anfield, but I won't as you've probably never left your armchair and your FIFA game.
KK wanted Torres to sort himself out as his workrate was dire, worst in the team, but we supported him. Carrolls workrate and teamwork stats are significantly better than
Torres' were so why not support him.
You posters say you are fans but it's bull. A fan will support every player even if he's not their favourite so get off your high horses and step away from your keyboards to actually go to a game and shout some positive comments to our number 9.
Failing that, stay on your xbox and have your opinion, but just don't expect us fans to listen as you sirs have not a clue about the game!!
Ultra Red

Yeahhh!! Thats what I'm talking about! Good post

Totally agree mate some of the posters saying we need world class wingers or he'll flop, is this the same player who was fantastic at Newcastle and they had how many world class wingers!!!!
Get behind the lad cheer at every opportunity the lad needs to look like he's happy at Liverpool and the same applies for Henderson too.
WE ARE LFC we support our players not criticise them.

Armchair fans are still fans.

Armchair fans are those that support their team but cannot afford to go to every game.

Can people please lay off andy carrol he was injured when we got him. and he has not played alot of games yet. judge him at the end of the season not now. the more games he plays he will get better and also we need to stop hitting long balls towards him need to work the flanks more and cross in from them kind of areas.

Did Insua leave on a free?

27 Aug 2011 06:50:37
I have it from a good source that, if LFC get their way, the spending is by no means over!
Coates and Bellamy WILL be signing for £9m and a free -- Will be honest, never seen Coates play, but seems to come with a great reputation and his size and pace seem spot on for the premier league and Bellamy will add some much needed pace and versatility up front.

However, I also expect Dann to still make the move (£5m), with Wilson going the other way as part of the deal.

Kalou is also being looked at as an option - KK thinks they can get him 'on the cheap', in the region of £7m and we are still looking for 'that' player, one who can change a game in an instant, and my source (who work for the press locally) has heard there IS serious interest in Kaka!
Madrid have already been approached about a loan deal but are not interested - want to sell ony - and have quoted a fee of £17m! Watch this space!

Leaving:
Cole - Free - Spurs (looking to cut the wage bill)
N'Gog - Bolton - £3m
Wilson - Birmingham p/ex
Spearing - Wigan - loan
Poulson - WBA - Free
Insua - Sporting - £3m
Skrtel - Arsenal - £8m

I don't think we'd part exchange a young CB in Wilson for Dann. Unless you mean we'd loan to birmingham and buy Dann, that seems unlikely. Kaka won't happen and I doubt we'd buy Kalou.

Straight from the Nacional FC website, which has been obviously translated in to English cos my Spanish extends to Dos Cerveza por favour!!, (and thank god for Google translate).

Sebastian Coates said goodbye Wednesday afternoon by their colleagues in the Grand Central Park. Coates will travel Thursday morning for England to close the pass and have the medical evidence. Coates had his last workout in the park and was cheered by all.

Sebastian Coates had his last practice, at least for a while, with the national squad on Wednesday afternoon at the Grand Central Park. Seba was cheered and greeted by all his colleagues and each member of the coaching staff and officials of the Park. The player spoke to the Club's Communications Department to let all our fans the following message:

"Too many memories. The biggest memory is the first time you get to Central Park when he was 11. I have been through a lot within the institution and are all fond memories."

And added: "With the fans I have only words of thanks. Conmigo always behaved 10, in difficult moments of my career, they were always supporting me. But I'll wear the shirt again and I look forward to National's support when that happens "

The fact that all the bags we know that Sheba will fare as it deserves, as demonstrated in the Uruguayan.

Again the process Tri-years of work has a name: Sebastian Coates. A boy in our house, a man of Uruguayan football.

Hi eds on a earlier post i mentioned heads would roll if we didnt finish in the top four a fellow poster had some doubt with what I said,Lets ask this question do you think the owners and fans will be happy with 5/6 finish we all know that answere, what would be the point after all the time effort and cash put in this preseason ,no my friends these owners are nice people but most important they are winners
and thats how they look at liverpool,so 5/6 finish heads will roll and rightly so.

Why are you even thinking about finshing 5th or 6th and that heads might role for it. We are only two games into a new season and have already won at arsenal just look back to this time last season and the mess we were in and be thankfull to john henry and co that this season we have a great chance of a top 4 finish. Borriello is a similar type of striker as Andy Carrol and he actually a bit better technically. He was strongly wanted by Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea couple seasons ago (when he was still at Milan) but Milan rejected the Blues' offer.
His been a so-so season, regarding the reason Roma want him out, it's because Luis Enrique is trying to built a Barcelona B squad in ROma. Borriello actually don't have that bad of attitude he just wants playing time. His a CF but Enrique insisted in playing him as a wide/wing striker instead. Anyway I don't think we needed him though, and he won't arrive just to become a sub. He wants to play so he have a shot in appearing at the Euro 2012 with Italy.

YNWA(Adam) carrick is not underrated if anything he's punching well above his weight even his own manc support do not rate him,he's no where near England's start up lad.
aintree dave

He is near an England start, he plays for the Manc's, so he must be. It appears these days that if you have any association with 'Old whiskey nose' it almost guarantees you an England cap. Cleverly played how many games for Wigan without so much as a mention. He plays 1 game for THEM, and he's called up for England. Same with Jones, all season with Blackburn, then 1 game with THEM, and up he's called. If Kelly was a youngster at old tr@fford instead of Anfield he'd be in double figures with his England caps by now.

Its an absolute joke!

i think we need a little more speed, when i watched bellamy with city, i really thought damn this guy has an attitude problem but he is super quicj=k and runs his socks off. KD can tame his attitude that speed will be scary, carroll will benefit the most. also want to mention I think Downing is a great signing, this guy is quick, great cross and the run and shot vs sunderland was a glimpse of beauty. I think we get caught up on potential... give me a damn player who can play in england, proven and reliable. I know downing has a ceiling, but I know we will get a lot of quality starts from him. I do think once Stevie g comes back that could be the mssing attacking link, the fear of anfield shell again return............

That was my thoughts also on Bellamy, when he was a liverpool player he had an attitude problem also, seemed to me a very disruptive attitude in the squad. I am surprised to hear we want him back. Lets hope that side of his game has gone.

You will never take the anger and attitude out of Craig Bellamy, it is what he is about,

people say oh he's a ruffian he's a ruffian how many players do you think we've got that's been said about
it's p**SN me off we've got 4 so called violent men and it's bull s**t were all men with instincts and some of our players have done worse than others and not vilified at all selective memories much,no one should be judged by there of field activities anyway it doesn't actually affect your life does it,plus kenny want's characters
and he is probably the best man manager in our life time.

With Insua reportedly signing for Sporting and Aquilani on loan at AC Milan, what is the situation with others such as Poulsen, Cole, Degen and Jones. Also what is the situation with Pacheco's loan moves to Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.

That ran....er....I mean 'observation' by BJH read like it was written by about 4 different people.
I think one of them was a liverpool fan.
Seriously, Big Andy needs 20 more league games under his belt before you start comparing him to experienced campaigners like Kuyt.
Look at Rushie, couldn't score when he first got into the team. Hansen said - can't shoot, can't dribble, can't header but he can run.
Well Rushie proved him wrong and so will AC
THE QUAGGAR

Sorry QUAGGAR man, but Rush worked his socks off, he is exactly the example I would use to back up what I was saying -and the type of example that Andy should follow if he wants to succeed.

My post was realistic and detailed the good, the bad, the ugly, and the we don't know yet - so I do agree with you that it appeared a bit schizophrenic as a result! Kind of like Carrolls play atm. Moments of horror followed by moments of real quality.

I haven't said that Carroll will be a disaster, but of course he could be, but then, he could also be hit by a truck next week too! We just don't know yet - I agree with you there too.

I actually backed him to come good if you read it again. But I was outlining what he needs to do to improve. If you think some of my points were unfair, i'd like to know which point you have a problem with? Do you think he already works hard enough? I'd find that surprising.

Like you say though, look at Ian Rush. By Rushies own admission, as a raw youngster he didn't even HAVE pace! It was hard work that made him a legend (His natural finishing ability/instincts and positional sense helped too).

I've also pointed out the Rush comparison in the past.

I wasn't comparing Carroll to Kuyt either, just saying that hard work goes a long way towards winning over the fans. I used Kuyt as an example of this.

Defending Carroll against ridiculous attacks is one thing, i'd do the same (and have) - but what I said was fairly realistic and balanced (and schizo as a result! lol). Again, I back him to get two today if he starts - and i'd love a hat-trick!

I'd be even happier if he works hard on pressing their centre-backs though! It would be a good sign.

So all I want is relentless hounding of their defence and either a brace or a hat-trick. lol.

But seriously though - thats what Rushie would give you more often than not!

I think we agree on more than we disagree.

ps. I'm LFC through and through, hence the high standards. No-one is above constructive criticism imo.

The LFC 'unconditional support' mantra wore a bit thin last year. Those that backed Rafa in a cloak of 'real LFC fans don't criticise' pompous righteousness the year before, they showed their true colours last year.

Were they/you this forgiving with Hodgson? Did he get his 20 league games before judgement was passed? What of Konchesky, Poulson, Joe Cole etc? Am I forgetting others, sorry if I am.

Don't be hypocrites now. No-one likes a hypocrite..... the truth will set you free.

Would you prefer this......

Carroll's first touch was divine against Exeter. Such pace, such dribbling ability, such movement and what an awesome aerial display. His goal was just the iceing on the cake. He reminds me of a young Marco Van Basten.

Now THAT is b***cks. lol.

BJH (feeling misunderstood - I like Big Andy)

What is with all these anti Carroll post? He is 22! Give him some time. He will be awesome. Bugs me how much all these armchair supporter moan. Go support Aguero at MC with there money. Carroll will prove his worth. Just believe.
Nacho

They are not armchair supporters, they are anonymous mancs trying to stir things up. Time to laugh at them instead of rising to the bait.

I agree there is alot i mean alot of armchair supporters id be prob classed as one would love to get to anfield alot more than i do but just don't have the money to do so,

Fully agree with the comments about Andy Carroll.

For a big guy he goes down way to easy and he is constantly moaning. He definitely needs to "man up" and move on when decisions go against him or the opposition will exploit this.

His fitness levels don't look the best either. He looks lazy when the ball is lost and pretty laboured in the games he has played this season.

On the positive side he has a ferocious shot. So come on Andy stop the moaning and falling over, chase back and win the ball when its lost and lets see some more of that dynamite foot in action!

Hi Eds 'n' All,

I've read the (rumoured) details of the Aqualani transfer and am as horrified as everyone else. Can anyone enlighten me as to whether this unpalatable buy-off actually saves the club money in the long run? That's to say wages sitting on the bench would have amounted to more than essentially paying for his holiday home?

Great job, Eds, as ever...

Dr S.Atire. {Ed001's Note - it is cheaper, it is not a big saving, but it is a saving, just sad it has to come to this, obviously money comes before professional pride, even though he already has more money than he needs to live on for the rest of his life.}

>>Thanks Ed001. Sad indeed. Feels like we've been collectively shafted by the Italians, somehow.

Dr S. Atire.
