Cant believe idiots are slagging off roy already. He is trying to do the best job he can with a squad he didn't assemble. He has obviously got limited funds to spend because of the owners, and yes we are buying some average players, but we havent got the money to buy top players at the moment, and won't have until the club is sold! What supporters need to do, is stop slagging off the manager and certain players, and do what your supposed to do, which is support your team through the bad times, as well as the good.

Re:Seems like ROY is too lenient a Manager to lead LFC. A top 4 , manager should be strict, stubborn and should be in total control. He seems to be very easy going.

Anyone who saw his face as we were about to go in first half against Trasnbonspor before we scored would tell you he has got a very stern scowl, I don't think he's a pushover at all, he's not a media whore who stirs things up, he's an honest gent who does his business, (not literally), behind the scenes and not for the world to see.

Look, the guy is poles apart from Rafa and has much better man-management skills. Remember, he was appointed to steady the ship as a priority, which day-by-day he is doing.

Will everybody please stop complaining about Dalla Valle? It's well-documented that players who stand out at 16, 17 might come to nothing, whilst players who were in their shadow at those ages come to the fore.

Christopher Buchtman was one of THE stars of the U17's tournament a few years back, then we sold him to Fulham after he failed to make the grade at reserves level and now they've let him go to Cologne for nothing.

Dalla Valle shone at the academy but looked very ordinary in the reserves and never warranted a starting berth at that level despite a lack of natural young strikers at the club. In short, he's not what we'd hoped, so stop bitching cos he's going.

In this day and age, truly top-drawer starlets, wonderkids, call them what you will, should be standing out at all levels on route to the first team AND be doing so at a young age - watch our reserves this season, I bet those that stand out will be amongst the youngest representatives, Sterling, Suso, maybe even Silva.

Here's hoping that, as well as 2-3 new faces coming into the club, Woy continues to wean out the no-hoper kids that are standing in the way of the true talents.

How can there be this many idiots on one site. .Here's hoping that in reality they're not all LFC supporters. And to the educational powers that be. .please, please, please shorten the school summer holidays. .they are far too long and allow kids to waste time p* *ing off adults on socially interactive sites such as this! !

As for rumours. .

Konchesky is a done deal pending the medical tomorrow.
M. Diarra and O. Toivenen are distinct possibilities. .but lips are tight on their actuality.

I am a life long Liverpool fan and love the club, therefore it really hurts me to sit and read the negative, thoughtless rubbish that is spouted by so called fans on this site - Remember the words to the song 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and, more importantly, what it truly means!

For the majority of you - let me explain - It means that, whatever happens, whatever we have to deal with and is thrown our way, we will stick together, as one - Not start bitching and whinging when things do not go our way, and we certainly do not turn on the manager or players to make our point.

I have a list as long as my arm of players I believe would improve the squad but, as we stand today, we do not have the cold hard cash or the promise of Champions League football and / or the ability to challenge for the title to encourage the players to join, even if we did have funs - - I for one, would rather wait for the title to come on the back of hard work than 'buy' it, like Chelsea have and Man City are trying to do - The Liverpool way ! ! !

And please please, stop looking at you tube when you hear about a player and posting on here he is awesome - - Even I could post the best bits of a completely rubbish 'pub football' career and look pretty good - They are hardly going to post a note of all the chances they have missed, tackles they have avoided and blatant dives ! (and Im talking about Turan now!)

Hodgson is doing the best he can, with the squad the 'mighty' Rafa has left him with - Aqua was always set to go, as was Masch and the apparent fee we got for Masch was fair, considering the fact everyone knew he wanted to leave, he was in the last year of his contract and the club need the money !

So, please, if you are a true fan, not one of these numpties who believes, just because they are not bad on championship manager on the PC that they are entitled to spout an opinion or someone who has not actually watched a game 'live' for the past 10 years or, a 'follower' - then please, respect the Liverpool way and go support the Mancs (and contribute to their forums)

And, before some youngster asks the question when I went last to a game - I live in Oxford, and have not missed a game, home and away for the past 19 years, so I am fully entitled to my opinion. (I even missed my 2nd kids birth to see us beat Southampton 7-0 at Anfield)

So - Support the team and the manager the Liverpool way and, when we are finally rid of the yanks, we can start to re-build (hopefully, not just on the back of some big funds).

ED - - please post this on the main rumours site so people see it - It is very important to me and each and every true fan - and I would ask every one of you to vote : Believable = stop this negative rubbish and get behind the boys : Unbelievable = you are a 'follower' and should glory support elsewhere.

Well said, my thoughts exactly. Support your team enjoy the ball they play. It's only the start of the season and the start of Roy's tenure so show a bit of support for the team you apparently 'support'. Stop wishing and be happy with what we've got.

27 Aug 2010 22:38:46
Were signing konchesky for apparently 4 million when fulham signed a world cup left back for about 3 million. Makes you think that we are only signing konchesky because he is English and that is all Roy wants. If he wants an English team then he should have waited until the England national job became available.
I hope that we make some decent signing s with the money that we get from the mascherano sale and the other money that Roy has left out if the initial pot, can't see it happening buy fantastic if it did

27 Aug 2010 22:36:19
I realy don't no wat hodgson is thinking, mascherano luks set to go for 18m, our evaluation was 25m, why havnt we asked them to include hleb? why hav we still not signed a striker, we do have the funds (didnt we get 15m to start wid? ), and y are we getting konchesky and there gettin salcido! they get a skillful, attack minded mexican international and we get some average left back whos never played in the champions league wid any team and has plaed 2 times for england! hodgson started well wid signin cole, jova, wilson and then just lost his mind tbh. cole is unavalable for 3 games but still he decides to loan aqua out and continue to play that usless poor passing, poor tackling, completely unbrazilian idiot lucas. he has proven this season that he wudnt get into sunderlands line up let alone one of the "best teams in europes"

we need to hurry up demand hleb as part the deal, buy van wolfswinkel, replac masch wid diarra and seriously fink about wat players are gud enough for our starting line up.

i am worried about our future under hodgson.

Seriously depressed about the state of affairs at the reds. RH has seemingly brought his small team mentality to the reds. I seriously cannot see any way we are going to move forward with the likes of Konchesky likely to be coming to us. Joke full stop! No amount of muppets on here can tell me we are moving anywhere but backwards.
Leave your fantasies behind, this is the reality.

Woooaaaahhh there everyone, SSN broke the Della Valle news from an article appearing in the Dail Mail tomorrow.

If you read it online, it's total guess work and supersition - quote "may throw in Lauri Dalla Valle and Alex Kacaniklic" - emphasis on MAY! !

Roy has clearly shown he is willing to give youth a chance, there is no way he would let these players go if he rated them.

My personal opinion on both players are LDV is better than Saric and Ecclestone, but I reckon he needs at least 2 seasons in somewhere like Holland or Belgium to get competitive games, (same with Insua by the way). Kacaniklic, I don't think has it, he fails to be able to cross or beat a man most times at reserve level, the likes of Ince or Silva would be more of a realistic prospect.

27 Aug 2010 22:26:53

Ok Konchesky looks like he is going to sign over the week-end. He is not a marquee signing, but is a solid player. You look at the rumours (champ manager) that people publish and you would think we had money to spend a plenty.

Konchesky is a solid left back, better than Insua, better than Aurellio, better than a centre back covering Agger. So is better than we currently have.

Players like Alan Kennedy and Alec Lyndsey were not world class house hold names at left back, but they could defend and did a fantastic job. And we remember them!

Konchesky may do a good job, he may not, but he can defend, and he is all we can afford, so get behind him!

Tough season ahead, but we'll come through it.

Why is everyone being so negative? so what we lost to city and only drew with aresnal! if you are a true fan you would stay behind the team and not whine about why we arent signing players like messi. we have limited money, deal with it and get behind the boys and show true support

I must admit i got more excited then i should of done when woy took over, i know seasons only just started, but anyone who chooses lucas over aqua, and after paul konchesky spells trouble, carragher has lost his legs, ngog is pushed in to thick of it to quick, kuyt should go inter, i laughed it off when konchesky was linked with us a month ago thinking we wouldn't seriously go there, i don't blame woy for 3 quarters of our troubles but lil cracks are starting to appear and im not on the bandwagon of the hate brigade, and i like what hes doing with steadying ship but i just hope konchesky doesn't sign as if were not careful in january transfer window gera, pantsil and hughes will join us, i just don't get how salcido who is a better player then konchesky went to a lower club ( no offence fulham) and we take the inferior replacement it just dumbfounds me, i may off had to much beer so talking crap but i just don't like whats happening at mo that's all

27 Aug 2010 22:18:43
Lfc sign paul konchesky ( 4 million waste ) y do lfc sign 80% s@?t reject signings every year no matter who is the manager.
(EXAMPLE)
Tottenham have bin a top 8 SIDE for the last 8 years and every year they sign basic but comon sense player who liverpool didn't even try to sign ( lennon bently defo bale woodgate crouch modric even kranjacar dawson all very good players and could of bought all of these players with the money we spent on aqua and robbie keane and not to mention the other poor buys please explain (ED)

27 Aug 2010 22:17:26
All these "rumours" about us signing turan and benaga are fantasy, how many people actually watch turkish football week in week out to make the assumption that turan is this amazing player?(he may well be but i very doubt it is based on real life knowledge)the same applies to banega(not many argintines have set the prem alight in recent years, and our success rate of signing players from spain is about 50-50 aswell).
if we are to sign a replacement for masch then i hope it is someone with proven prem experience, we cannot afford to carry players this season while they "settle in" to premiership football, we have too many of them in the squad as it is

Ed your so wrong you said theres very litle qaulity in our sqaud that rafa left?. pepe who i think is no 1 in the world. tores gerard masch agger carra skirtle kuyt aqua all good players and young players like insua lucas pacheco bable ngog . you say support roy and all you do is slag rafa of double standarts seems to me .dont forget rafas had to put up with the yanks for a few years not a few months. soul man.

27 Aug 2010 22:16:03

We are only going to sign who Roy thinks is neccessary, we all knew it was going to be a building year and i think 4th is out of the equation it would take alot of money to build us up to the level we need to be at.

Lets not waste it and build a team that we all want to love again that means taking the good and bad results this year. The youngsters all need to be blooded and this will save us a fortune in transfers in the next two years.

All i can see is 2 signings in the wings, diarra and a left back konchesky is just a smoke screen for someone better maybe maxwell as part of barca masch deal they need to get some wages off their books and could be finalizing, as well we will see but konchesky is a squad player at best.

27 Aug 2010 22:13:53
Ricky van Wolfswinkel please! Hes 21, and already made a international debut for Holland. If not for anything else, so for the name. What a shirt! We certainly need two central mids now. Aqui should never have left with Dr Brukner at Melwood! !

Wish list:

Ben Arfa(signing for Toon obviously)
M Diarra(cant see it happen)
Scott Parker(cant see that happen either)
VdV(cant see that. . . . . . . .)
van Wolswinkel(hoping. . won't happen)
Trezeguet for a year or two(wont happen)
Toivonen(not happening)

Looks dark!

Editor's note - Dalle Valle is the cream of the crop in our youth set up, if he goes it is a disgrace

Put nothing past the cancers that own our club, didn't you know pal, there's a firesale on in Liverpool, roughly the L4 area.
Make us an offer. . . . .
They drove Rafa out and now they're selling all our assets. Who next? ? Sterling, Amoo, Ince? ? There's gonna be bunting up outside my house when they fook off. . . If they manage to refinance we'll be Championship inside 3 years, mark my words. I'm hoping the Ed can put my fears to bed. . . .

Ridgebackred

Don't you think that if we were being asset stripped then the like's of Sterling, Amoo, Ince etc would be the one's to keep? But yet we still turned down probably 10-15 mill for Kuyt who if we are being asset stripped then this would be a perfect deal for us considering the so called financial mess that is LFC at the minute.

SSN reported yesterday that their sources not a statement from LFC said "We believe that LFC are not under financial pressure to sell Mascherano"

Just dosn't make sense not to sell Kuyt if that's the case. I love Kuyt and what he give's LFC 100% everytime but you have to admit 10-15 mill for a 30 year old average player would have been a good bit iof buisness no matter who own's the club?

I would like to thank the life long liverpool fan who missed his kids second birthday. you are a true fan. i think this site is being infiltrated by wancs. nobody was complaining about roy when he held onto torres or gerrard. just because there is speculation about a kid in the youth team being sold, the so called fans think lfc is falling apart. we have played 2 games in the pl. come back to this site and complain when at least 10 games have been played. please all negative wancs stop posting on this site, use are ruining it for the real fans.

I'm starting to lose faith in some Liverpool supporters who seem to be playing Football manager or basing player signings on youtube highlights.
Do you think that Roy is choosing to not buy or look at low cost players as his preference!
We don't have the money most of you talk about spending, we had to sell to buy.
We all would want Aguerro, A Young, Adebayor etc, but we can't afford them.
And all the crap about selling Mash on the cheap, he wouldn't play for us anymore - his choice to go not Roy's to sell. . holding out until jan or next summer would be worse than selling now.

Im not being funny, dalla Valle might not have made it, kacaniklic probably wouldn't have, but if anyone had of watched the under 18 last season, lauri dalla Valle was stand out performer and smashed goals in. . . .and hodgsons using them as a makeweight for KONCHESKY! Let's be honest he's s* te at best, fulham have just signed salcido for 1.6 mil, and experienced international.and we've missed out! This is a joke were signing very mediocre players. This is going to be a souness like reign if he doesn't get money and sort ourselves out.

So I sell you a car worth £20,000, but because I have taken the wheels off you are only willing to give me £18,000. I say OK because I have already sold the wheels for £5,000. Simples! ! !

Well it's not simples is it! If the wheels are worth £5,000 you only pay £15,000 for the car! This is NOT rocket science! !

I know this does not fit with your rediculous asset stripping theory but please try to show some common sense.

YNWA

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Sold individually the wheels are worth £5,000, the engine £10,000, the shell £7,000, the seats £1,000 and the stereo £250. That's a total of £22, 250. I've just made a profit of £2, 250 - Nice! ! ! ! ! !

VERY Simples!

Just for your info:

What Does Asset Stripping Mean?
The process of buying an undervalued company with the intent to sell off its assets for a profit. The individual assets of the company, such as its equipment and property, may be more valuable than the company as a whole due to such factors as poor management or poor economic conditions.

Hmmmmm!

Could everyone get off roy's back he took a job on with a lot of bad players that rafa brought in and hasn't got the money to bring in quality, he's tryin to bring in players on a very limited budget which is a hard job for any man, we played bad at city because we were trainin all week with 4-5-1 and then a few hours before the match spat the dody out so he had to switch tactics at the last minute which f* ked everyone up hence the players havin a go at him, i agree wit the lad who posted get behind the team the liverpool way ed would you agree {editor's note - I fully agree, Roy has taken on a complete rebuilding job without the money to buy anyone. The squad that was left to him had very little quality in it and he is going to find it difficult to improve it with limited resources. Best thing we can do is back him and the lads and stop singing songs about Rafa just because we are having a bad game.}

Cameroon's football federations are vigorously courting two European-born players of Cameroonian descent – Liverpool forward David N'Gog and Karlsruher FC defender Marvin Matip.
Every player of Cameroonian origin wants to play with the Lions. It is left for us at (FECAFOOT) to go out there and get them convinced, " Milla said. "Now that France are looking for a real attacker, we've got to go and get David N'Gog as quickly as possible because they can beat us to it."

If Roy can bring in 3 players (left back, midfield & striker/ winger) before the end of the transfer window then I think he can provide us with a decent enough squad to get through the season until next summer under new owners.

So far he has done a good job of clearing out all the dead wood and selling players who don't want to be at Liverpool due to personal/ Rafa related reasons, while still keeping key members of the squad.

Hopefully the 3 new ins will be:
Adra Turan - 8million
Scott Parker - 10million
Paul Konchesky - 3million

. .to combine with:
Jonjo Shelvey - 1.7million
Milan Jovanovic - free
Joe Cole - free
Danny Wilson - 2million
Christian Poulsen - 5million
Brad Jones -2million

Total - 31.7million

. .and the outs come the end of the window will be:
Yossi Benayoun - 7million
Albert Riera - 6million
Diego Cavalieri - 1million
Alberto Aquilani - loan
Philipp Degen - loan
Charles Itandje - .5million
Javier Mascherano - 17million
Lucas Leiva - 5million
Nabil El Zhar - 1million
Emiliano Insúa - 4million
Krisztián Németh - 1million

Total - 42.5million

Good job Roy, now go get those 3 players and guide the squad through another difficult year.

Skysports.com understands Fulham are in talks to sign Liverpool youngsters Lauri Dalla Valle and Alex Kacaniklic.

I think liverpool have got this one wrong as they are two of the quality players which we have in our youth system and we are going to sell them. There is no hope for liverpool in the future if we have two americans which will let our best young players leave for konchensky.

27 Aug 2010 21:07:43
I hope we make a hell of alot of signings by wednesday. Watching last 2 games i think its clear we need;

1. a left back (Konchesky looks like)

2. central mid x 2 or at least 1

3. 2 x wingers (real ones that can acctually run down wing and put in crosses)

4. 1 or 2 strikers preferbly ones we already know can score goals no more risks with youngsters for eg Forlan, benzema, eto, ibrahimovic, or even cheaper options Zamora, Carew, bent.

Don't know if you guys agree? but we look so weak in attack and same as last year when gerrard or torres are injured we will be in trouble again. If we can't afford all this why not just play kuyt and Jova as back up strikers and bring in 2 wingers.(real ones)

@ 27 Aug 2010 19:59:25 "So lets get this straight, Dalla Valle, 18, was the subject of interest from the Cottagers in January when new Reds manager Roy Hodgson was in charge but a move failed to materialise. So now I'm led to believe Roys changed his mind and released a player who has a year and a half left on his contract! ! !"

I find it somewhat hard to believe as well. When he was Fulham's manager he wanted him, now he's Liverpool's manager he wants him out? Doesn't make sense. I also find it dreadfully short-sighted. Lauri Dalle Valli has genuine 'star' talent. Maybe the better reserves/ academics want out because they don't see any chance of a breakthrough because we continue to keep buying instead of using them. Kacaniklic is another. Not brilliant by a long chalk but decent enough for the edge of the squad.

I'm hoping that it's being 'over reported' and really it's a possible loan move. To move him on would be tragic.

I am a life long Liverpool fan and love the club, therefore it really hurts me to sit and read the negative, thoughtless rubbish that is spouted by so called fans on this site - Remember the words to the song 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and, more importantly, what it truly means!

Well said mate, i thought i was the only one trying to fight all this negative bulls* it about our beloved club, all this nonsense about asset stripping and no take over, people seem to want to jump on every incident just to prove it is the end for Liverpool, i am staying possitive that a take over will happen sooner rather than later and we can start to move forward and we will once again be a force in European football! !

Can someone please explain this to me, Fulham get a world cup star in Salcido and pay 3m for him, but our Roy want to pay 4m for Paul Konchesky? he is no where near as good as the mexican . .

Roy

I can only think of one reason for buying Konchesky Roy and that's because he's English. Then again if that's the case why not go for Warnock who we shoudn't have sold in the 1st place.

I think the word we are looking for is BAMBOOZELD!

If this were to happen i would be delighted, but i'm sorry i don't believe it at all. I'm a little concerned about this coming season if im honest, i'll support the team no matter what, but the feeling i had a fortnight ago is now a little different.

27 Aug 2010 21:00:24
Terrible performance on monday followed by a gutsy one on thursday - feels like last season all over - inconsistent BUT be fair to Roy and the boys it is very early days and Roy hasn't had a lot of time to instill what he wants and expects from the players and obviously defensively we are totally different not in personnel but in tactics - no zonal marking etc so let lay off with all the negativity, Roy will come good as will the team.
i expect a couple of signings before the closing of transfers steady players rather than high profile flair players but ones that will steady a rocking team and provide a solid base for the likes of Stevie G, Nando and Cole to do what they do best. i expect we will become hard to beat again and push for the top 4, which is all we should expect after last season and no money .once the takeover happens who knows but for now be posotive give Roy the time and be true LFC fans and back the team and the manager at all times.

ynwa is our mantra now is the time to prove it

Received a tip that Hodgson is looking for a cheap, back-up striker for Torres. He's looked in the Scandinavian market and is looking at Peter Utaka of Odense Boldklub. He was the top scorer of Danish League in 09/ 10 and has a record of 40 goals in 70 apps for them. My source has said that Hodgson thinks he'll be a good, cheap option for Liverpool and could have an impact like Hangeland did with Fulham who he plucked from the Danish League. Dunno if its true or not. You heard anything ED?
{Editor's note - I haven't sorry}

27 Aug 2010 20:57:39
Liverpool used to claim the best central midfield in the world with Alonso, Mascherano, Gerrard, and Sissoko- and now Gerrard is left with Lucas, Paulsen, and maybe Diarra if he comes. It's a sad state of affairs, but don't be surprised if Roy tries to spend half the mascherano money on a striker and the other half on the midfield.

27 Aug 2010 20:55:25
Trust me on this since Arda Turan is not cup tied we will make an offer before sunday an he will have a medical on monday mornin very excited liverpool need a winger like him hes fast an takes on defenders wat we need an he loves liverpool any thoughts ed? ?
{Editor's note - He would be a good signing}

27 Aug 2010 20:52:48
IF we were being asset stripped then don't you think the 1st one's to go would be Torres, Gerrard and Reina and these are the players who have commited to LFC. The players we have sold we either wanted them to go or they wanted to go.

Asset stripping dosn't make sense for one reason Torre's, Gerrard, Reina are still here and don't forget they told Inter were to go when they tried to buy Kuyt which we probably would've got 10-15 mill for a 30 year old average player IMO.

IF they are asset stripping they are going the wrong way about it but knowing G&H they are probably convinced this is the way to do it.

As for selling Dalle Valle and Kakaniklic i don't know what that's about. But if they do go you have to ask yourselves who let them go Roy or Kenny as remember Kenny is in charge of youth development and would probably have a big say as he has been looking after these 2 for about 12-18 months so blaming Roy at this stage could be a bit premature.

Seems like ROY is too lenient a Manager to lead LFC.
A top 4 , manager should be strict, stubborn and should be in total control. He seems to be very easy going.

27 Aug 2010 20:36:54
It is obvious for all to see that Hodgson was put in place to allow Broughton, Purslow and co. to asset strip Liverpool FC.

I have supported LFC since they came up from the Second Division in the early 60s and it is very worrying to see Hodgson the "Yes Man" allow those idiot "bean counters" destroy our club.

The simple reason they got rid of Benitez is because he had a clause in his renewed contract that he had sole control of the buying and selling of players.

Now we our selling promising youngsters and buying "over the hill" cast offs from inferior teams!

God knows where we will finish in the league this year but I bet it is lower than seventh!

The fans need to protest at Anfield on every occasion possible to stop the rot!

Stevie G, Walton.

PS: Well done Roy for yesterday's result - credit where credit is due!

'So fulham get Salcido and looks like we gonna get konchesky this is getting to be more and more like the twilight zone every day our club is being ruined in everybodys heart we did not want hodgson we're nowhere near a takeover and we have no funds to sign any decent players ( I hope I'm wrong on this) we need a striker 2 wingers and a left back our squad is in as bad as shape as it as last year all our academy boys are all but gone . . Nemeth eccelston for example we are slowly but surely turning into a mid table team at the very least . . The club releases no news and we are supposed to just wait I for one demand some answers cos all we have now is our history. Sorry to be so negative but at least I'm being realistic. . This is our club it's high time we stand up to these yank F@@@ERS .We are Liverpool fc and Liverpool fc is us! ! ! YNWA'

Come on mate, We're two games into the season and we've had arguably the two hardest games we could of asked for. Yes i understand being beaten by City hurts but everyone feels the same its not time to start supporting Tranmere yet.
In regard to us selling all of our Youth, We have two amazing looking players in the wings from the youth, Suso looks like he will mature into a great player. Raheem Sterling is 15 and he's an excelent prospect. Even look at Pacheco, hes slowly but surely forcing his way into the first team.
About the club releasing information, If your talking about news on investors, can you honestly see any possible buyer of our club being happy if we put all of the details of a possible takeover from them in the media? They would run a mile! Also the club couldnt scream and shout about possible transfers without the funds it'd just getting all of our hopes up. Also if air your dirty laundry through the media anyway its bad business.

27 Aug 2010 19:56:42

Everyone is so negative. We all have no idea whats going on behind the scenes. mash this mash that, the fella was better without the ball than with it. we need good first team players now and in 5 years time, so if we need to sell players now then buy them back later then so be it. if they turn out to be as good as you think they are. we have tried defensive style football for to long give roy a chance 2 weeks in and listen to use all.

27 Aug 2010 19:54:56
It is high time we come to reality
mediocre players on the wing. .no depth in squad. .no good enough replacements for the players going out. now even out youth players are starting to move out.
on top of that we are looking to spend 10-12m on a striker who will spend most of his time on the bench if we play the same formation
expect likes of gerrard and torres to leave in january.
i would be happy if we finish 7th

they have invested over 200m on the playing squad under benitez, so now we have drove them out and that's why the investment has stopped.

On the asset stripping theory, according to Harris a price for Liverpool has been agreed, i presume that the bidders are reasonably intelligent and they have reasonably intellegent advisors, then surely they won't agree on a price and sit around and then watch all the players be sold for millions and the money be stashed away by Beavis and Butt Head and then allow the agreed price to stay the same? There will be many lawyers involved watching where every penny goes!

I'm totally sick from the lying toe rags that is called the two twits and the rest of the lackies for once I thought when broughton said we would have a 15 mil transfer budget+20mil standard money things were slighty looking up but all we get is dross and no money well they should hang their heads in shame now the 20 mil or near for pram chucker that's a 55mil we could sign some good players with that, is that why even my wife can see we need width and players with speed.

Liverpool Rumours
What the hell is going on at Liverpool? We are now in talks with Fulham about a deal for Kacaniklic and Dalla Valle! Not fussed about Kakaniclic gong there but Dalla Valle looks a real talent and qualifies with the home grown rule. Why the hell would we want to sell him?

Is it possible that we have to accept that till a takeover happens that we are a selling club!

IN REPLY - I THOUGHT DALLA VALLE LOOKED VERY GOOD. DID HE LACK PACE FOR THE TOP LEVEL?
WAS HE AND KAKANIKLIC REALLY GOING TO BECOME REGULAR 1ST TEAM PLAYERS. NOT SURE. ALSO LOOK HOW MANY PROMISING YOUNG PLAYERS LEAVE UNITED, ARSENAL AND CHELSEA BECAUSE THEY NOT QUITE GOOD ENOUGH.
MAYBE HODGSON IS JUST LOKING TO BRING IN SOME SMALL EXTRA FUNDS TO SPEND IN THE COMING DAYS.

Now one of the three first team players who did not travel to Turkey for the game last night is heading to barca, the other two. . Gerrard and Torres will soon be announcing their departure too. We are being asset stripped. Our ambitions are to have players like Konchesky and Carlton Cole play for us? We are doomed to mediocrity.

Have you taken your medication today?

We are not being asset stripped. . if we asset strip by the current owners they get less for the sale and stand more of a chance of RBS stepping in and taking control. . . really got to question the way some people think!

We have become even more of a laughing stock under Roy. He is constantly signing and being linked with mediocre players such as konchesky, Scharner and signing Brad Jones, Poulsen and Jovanovic. Yes these would be good aquisitions for Fulham or Bolton but not us. Imagine the uproar if Jose Mourinho signed konchesky for real madrid!

Unfortunatly LFC is still on the decline and today has proved this even more as Roy is now trying to offload our future stars for next to nothing. Dalla Valle will grow into a first team regular in the coming seasons - what is Roy thinking? What are we going to do. . replace him with another Fulham reject.

Lets be honest, Toverin, Ruiz, C.Cole and Trezuget are not good enough for LFC which is why none of the top clubs are interested in them.

All i can say is that if we hadn't signed Joe Cole, then Roy would be under a lot of pressure.

And where, oh prescient one, will they go? The only teams able to compete for their signatures are Barca, Chelsea, RM and Inter (i'm obviously discounting City as neither would stoop to that level). Barca have spent their money on Masch and have financial problems, Chelsea are looking to be self sufficient and wouldn't match Liverpool's valuation, Inter have Rafa at the helm and both were cheesed off, plus they've admitted they lack the funds for such a move and the Madrid heirarchy already told Mourinho they weren't going to spend big on players with no resale value (i.e. Gerrard) and Torres would never play for them.

Could someone tell me when the kids are going back to school as i'm fed up of everyone saying "so-and-so is unhappy so he's leaving" or "we've got x amount, just buy Joe Schmoe" - signing a player or leaving a club are far more complicated than being happy/ unhappy or having the right amount of money - it needs a combination of parties willingly accepting the move and an interested party to have the right finances to fund a move - none of these criteria are met for Gerrard or Torres to leave.

Oh and for those who continue to bandy around the term "asset stripping", please do a little research about liquidity, debt refinancing and net/ gross asset values before assuming to know what'll happen to the club. Failing that, strap on a snadwich board with the slogan "the end is nigh" and go and shout at passers by outside Anfield. You're nto being "realistic", you're being scaremongers and nobody is buying it. Babb slamming into the goalposts, Dudek constantly dropping the ball, Diouf pretending to be a footballer - we've been in far worse positions than this and come through, so please either have a little faith or put your efforts into e-mailing RBS/ your local MP/ The Samaritans rather than trying to depress everyone.

Roy Hodgson is only a short term appointment (maybe one season). He is seen as safe pair of hands. But a new owner will bring their 'own man' in. Hodgson wanted the job but he knows this as do the top players at the club. But Hodgson has always wanted to work at Liverpool since the 1970s when he met Paisley, Fagan and Moran when he was learning the trade.

I can't believe that when i write in with something sensible it doesn't get shown and you publish unbelievable rubbish from other people all the time, i think the editors on here haven't got a clue themselves(thinking they have contacts to do with LFC). i wrote in just mentioning what i think of the current situation at LFC and other thought's on transfer targets, but my posts rarely get shown, then some idiot write's in with LFC in's. .and LFC have a budget of £50-£60mil and signing players that we have NO chance of getting. i think the editors are a couple of spotty little teenagers who know nothing about football. and i know you won't show this either, so it is just for the spotty little teenagers.also. this site will suck in a few days when the transfer window shuts as who cares about rumours when nothing is going to happen, but that will suit the editors as they have to go back to school early sept.

Only one man can fill Mascherano's boots in my opinion - Lassana Diarra.

Energetic, good tackler (not quite as good as Mash), better passer than Mascherano, PL experience, a year younger than Mascherano and with ample competition for places at Madrid.

I'd happily spend the lot of the Mash cash on him, as the City game showed just how mauled you can get without a decent defensive midfielder.

Ah but! (I hear you say), what about the reserve centre forward and wingers. Yes, these need strengthening too. I hope to God that Kuyt's declaration he wants to stay is as much nonsense as most of the drivel spouted by players and agents and that if we can get even the lowest 8-figure fee for him, we flog him quick-sharp and bring in a replacement who can actually control a football.

If Liverpool sell Dalla Valle then it will be a huge mistake and Roy will be made to regret it. He will become a fantastic player in the next couple of seasons and he need to be given more time.

Roy. . don't follow Rafa's footsteps {editor's note - Dalle Valle is the cream of the crop in our youth set up, if he goes it is a disgrace. Bad enough to see the likes of Putterill having to drop down the divisions, we can't let Dalle Valle go too.}

Lucas wants to leave because of family issues that they are unsettled up north and wants a move to Spain, Potugal and even stated London just heard from SKYSPORTS NEWS

MAYBE HE WILL END UP AT INTERNATIONALE AS RAFA OBVIOUSLY LIKED HIM. FOR THAT REASON WE MUST GET AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE I.E ALL THE MONEY THEY OFFERED FOR MASCHERANO (ONLY A DISGRACEFUL £6M OFFER) AND MAYBE SOME PLAYERS.

I just don't get it A Young is no better than Babel, 20million for a player who is not an established international, Babel is established and your talking 8million and we let the captain of Argentina go for 16-18million, c'mon guys am I the only one that thinks we are allowing our financial situation, to let our players walk on the cheap, so as to get funds in to service the debt, we are a team without width/ pace/ creativity and money, and we are into another season, dunno whats going on at our club but with a few days to go we are cutting it tight, don't wanna see anymore deadline day panic buys, just be a another bunch of bench warmers and lets face it we have enough of that at the club already, would rather let the kids, ie Amoo, , Shelvey Ince, Dal Valle, Pacheco, Kelly and Robinson into the team than buy mediocre players now, hasn't hurt Arsenal to do that.

To anyone talking about cup tied players-

Ashley Young is NOT CUP TIED. Nor is ARDA TURAN.

Their respective teams lost before the group stage of the Europa League, thus meaning any players who participated in the playoffs are actually NOT cup tied.
Can't remember if PSV are through or not, in regards to Ola.

-overlylegiiiit

Ashley young IS cup tied as far as champions league is concerned as he played for Villa in Europa cup qualifier. .this was checked out by skysports this morning when they were reporting on interest for him from spurs and they confirmed from eufa that he is cup tied if spurs were to buy him. . .cant see how this would change if he was to sign for liverpool. . .
But surely Turan would be a better option anyway. .he's cheaper and better! And if we assume we have approx 20m to spend do we not have other areas that are needing to be strengthened rather than blow it all on Ashley young. .seems like a waste of money with limited funds. . I'd much rather spend the money on a striker and cheaper winger option. .

how about. .
ruiz or toivonan for 12m
SWP for 6m

But also do we need cover in midfield with masch and aqua going?

What do you think ed? what would you do with 20m to spend ? {editor's note - I would buy Turan and save the rest for January, now Salcido is no longer available anyway.}

Why do people keep going on about being asset stripped, look, if you want to by a car and it's £20,000 but when you go to buy it the wheels have gone, do you still pay £20,000? Who ever makes an offer for the club will have obviously included the value of each player in his valuation, so asset stripping will be a false economy, even if some of the money is used to pay interest it will surely reduce what the new owner will have to pay to secure the club, i'm no financial expert but common sense tells me this must be the case! !

Anyone else watching SSN at around 6pm? When they do there transfer rumours bit there was a mention of Lucas wanting to move for family reasons,

I've Looked on the repetable (spelling!) web sites and theres nothing (not even on skysports.com (which is strange considering it was on TV)).

I know he's got his fans and haters and personally I don't think he's good enough, saying that from what we've spent out this season on new players (and in some cases down graded in my opinion) I wounldn't want him to go unless Woy has all the money to spend.

I hope to be proved wrong but so far the signings haven't been inspirational (Cole aside).

Alberto Aquilani says he will not return to Liverpool after his loan spell at Juventus. "England was a great experience, but I am here to stay, " he told the Italian press. "Leaving Roma was a hard choice, but it helped the club financially. I am a professional and Juventus is a fundamental move in my career and to help me step back towards the national team.
"There is a will to do well here. Scudetto? We can do well, but Inter have something more."

Gazza :)"

1- Tottenham have champions league, we don't
2- They (Spurs) can afford the 20m which I would think the price villa will put on Young, and we cannot afford even half of that amount . .

I am pretty sure Roy will spend some of the 18m we got for Masch on an English 30 something year old rubbish . . he may go for Heskey or is he too young for us?

How is it possible that we haven't signed Arda Turan?!
This guy is exactly what we need. A genuine winger with loads of skill that can play on either wing, as well as attacking mid. His also a proven leader with Gala and a genuinely top lad (does a hell of a lot or various charities) and guess what his "dream team is Liverpool FC"
7 goals and 17 assists for Gala last season, I'm sure he'd set Nando up with a few!
Sign him up Roy FFS!

Not a rumour just my thought!

Why not spend every penny we have left on a deadly strike partner for el nińo and not the wank that's being linked at the moment (toivonen, wolfswinkle etc) we are Liverpool fc we should be looking at game changers! The guys mentioned will only fetch a maximum of 15 goals a season which ngog, babel and kuyt could all do in the same position! We need to bring in quality players better than we have! And not English! Besides Rooney there has hasn't been a world class striker from this country since shearer an owen! we need an aguero, tevez, higuain type striker! Otherwise we may as well just keep the cash because it will be wasted on s* t otherwise! We hav a variety of players that can play across a range of positions! The wings are covered although I would like to see turan! Centre mid is covered! We need to buy in the same position we've needed filling for the last 3 seasons! Striker and that's it!

27 Aug 2010 18:10:09

What happened to the Liverpool press conference that was supposed to take place today according to some posters on here?
Anyway, now that we have offloaded masch, we need two signings- a striker and a winger. I just hope Roy has his targets lined up and acts quickly.

WAKE UP GUYS!
another friday is almost over and another news confrence has failed to happen despite several people being in the know about new owners.
there is no takeover just like there is no santa claus, there is no tooth fairy, and there is no fairy god mother.more importantly there is no mega rich arab sheik who is going to lavish us with millions of pounds to spend on the worlds greatest players.that means no messi, no ronaldo, no aguero just like when we were looking for a new manager there was no mourinio, no hiddink, or no rijkaard.we got hodgson and we will get several mediocre players to replace the good players leaving a sinking ship.things are as bad as they can get and we are in for a rough ride.but being liverpool fans we will support whoever pulls on the red shirt and fights the cause because you never know some storeys do have a happy ending.don't they?

27 Aug 2010 17:58:58
Any news on whether a formal bid has gone in for Wolfswinkel? Roy must be really scratching his head about this one. The player is on fire this season in league and europa cup, but last season as one of the leading strikers he got 12 goals in all competitions, and the season before he got 8.
So in the longer term he might not turn out to be the goal machine he looks like at the moment, although at his age maybe those previous seasons arent an indicator.
Roy no longer has time to make successive bids for players as he would normally do, so is he going to put out simultaneous bids for a few players he thinks are right for the club, and see what happens?
Rumour has it Konchesky is just about a done deal, so maybe Roy focus on a striker and/ or winger now?
Every time I see Pacheco he looks better, and I think he could end up being a key player LFC this season.
Ed, I know you rate the lad- what do you think is his best position?
{Editor's note - I have never seen him play, it was the other Ed that commented on him}

the Debt is 350million. .

Now lets sell masch 20mil. .
. . . . . . . . .Aqua 20-30mil(doubt believe this 16mil price set crap anyone with any football knowledge will know that if he's injury free for juventus he'll probably be worth double this the bank aint stupid)
. . . . . . . . Gerrard 10-15mil(depending on season
. . . . . . . . Johnson 20 odd million (more if he bangs in loads this season)
. . . . . . . . Torres 40-70mill (dependant on season far could fetch far more if injury free and smashes goal scoring records). .

Now that's 110-150+ mil + any other sales
200 million for Liverpool anyone. .
Now lets say we sell the rest of the squad including youth players. . I'm not even going to attempt this. but basicly you would get the history and club of Liverpool, the Anfield football ground, league position, fan base etc etc. . for practically nothing?

Of course not. . it don't work this way. . if we sold 100 mill of players. yes the price of the club may reduce but not by 100mill. . by far less. . Do some research and your'll see. asset stripping is here. . don't believe any of these other bulls* t story's present and future that are generated to protect from potential fan backlash and financial marketing meltdown. .
Either this or i'm a profit! Here's my prophecy. .
(Rubbing my Crystal ball. . .s)
Just like with Masch/ Poulson and Aqua/ J cole.
Liverpool will continue to sell it's high priced players and replace them with cheaper versions. . Also i see lie's and fake storys come out. and views on places like this site about these players so that fans can;t wait to see the back of them (either that there s* t or hate liverpool people etc etc). . thereby paving the way for there sales. . and with torres well that's obvious. . He gave us another season but with a tactically inept manager playing caveman style 4-4-2 so failure to gain a top 4 spot. he's off for Cl football. .

Glenn Johnson is the perfect right winger, better than ashely cole given the chance, why won't roy give kelly an opportunity to play RB so Glen could show his qualities game in, game out.

I fully agree about Johnson being played on the right wing but i actually think Kelly would be better used on the left winger, both these players are very attack minded big and strong!

personally, i think we definitely need a LB and striker b4 all else.

Glenn Johnson is the perfect right winger, better than ashely cole given the chance, why won't roy give kelly an opportunity to play RB so Glen could show his qualities game in, game out.

Also, the striker we need is Toivonen and i hope we buy him, he scored again last night and has been scoring regularly for the past 5 games.

Arda is class but i think he is surplus to requirements having suggested Glenn's promotion.

JC playes left wing and Glenn right wing. LB seems likely to be Konchesky.

Trawled some of the sites and cannot the slagging Roy Hodgson is getting and the almost demi-god level Masch is achieving while Hicks and Gillet are forgotten
1. Then manager in any business works with resources he is given - as football is now a business Roy will have a level of resource - this is not because he is a yes man - that is all he has
2. Masch worked for a move - no-one but him reduced the value - if he had not made it known we would have got more, flip side is he gets no loyalty bonus (what an ironic contract clause!)
3. The promised investment sale or not from our US owners has (surprise surprise) failed to materialise unless something is being kept up the sleeve for Monday and Tuesday!

Our problem is Gillet and Hicks - no one else - attacking Roy is not the answer.

Poulson for Masch. .

WAKE UP. . before its too late. .'

So then why isn't Steve at Real? Torres at Chelsea/ City? Pepe at Arsenal/ Barca? Hodge actually said Poulsen wasn't a replacement for Masch as well. Roy just couldn't guarantee Aqua would be starting every game week in week out, plus he's struggled to adapt since coming. If we were being asset stripped, wouldn't we sell Aqua during this window rather than Loan him to Juve for a year and then sell him when Juve take up the option to buy? Also Joe Cole was signed because he was available on a free, and is probably better than Aqua. Also, Broughton has stated several times, there is no need to sell players to service the debt. So your a bit off the ball there.

So he's accepted he's gone. . .

So fans once again. . WAKE UP!

We buy a 25-30mil player (he would of cost that if he wasn't carrying a long term injury when we bought him) he has to adapt not only to a new culture, country, language. team players and movement, managers tatics etc but to the most physically demanding league played at a new fast pace after playing at slow tactical Italian pace and coming back from a long term injury. . Hmmm. . how long it take drogba, Henry etc?

Yet after re-occurrences of his injury at the end of last season (when rafa finally started to give him time on the pitch) he started to show what he was capable off. . .

Like i've said all along. . its time to wake up. . we're being asset stripped his replacement was the free signing of J cole. .

What sort of plonker are you - this shows a number of things - Rafa was not the best in the transfer market, you make the point yourself on Aqua's condition and culture adjustment - moving him on is not asset stripping but cutting our losses (always thought he was an exspensive form of Patrik Berger and poor replacement for Luis Garcia which Rafa craved!), Masch is not asset stripping it is about moving on a player who wants out!

If we are being run into the ground (which is what you do in asset stripping) you do not replace the asset even with a cheaper one - the asset leaves and you move on NO REPLACEMENT AT ALL! !

"England was a great experience, but I am here to stay, " said Aquilani.

"Leaving Roma was a hard choice, but it helped the club financially. I am a professional and Juventus is a fundamental move in my career and to help me step back towards the national team.

"There is a will to do well here. Scudetto? We can do well, but Inter have something more."

Yet after re-occurrences of his injury at the end of last season (when rafa finally started to give him time on the pitch) he started to show what he was capable off. . .

Like i've said all along. . its time to wake up. . we're being asset stripped his replacement was the free signing of J cole. .

Poulson for Masch. .

WAKE UP. . before its too late. . "

Do you even understand what asset stripping is? How exactly is sending a player on loan rather than immediately selling him asset stripping. I'm sorry, but this post smells of thet***z and similar conspiracy theories. "The yanks still have control", "they're going to sell Anfield", "Gerrard to Madrid - done deal", "Torres to Barca 100%" etc etc. Please, do everyone a favour and stop with your doom and gloom, it's about as convincing as those saying we're already sold and are signing Aguero.

In reply to:

In answer to your post. People always slag off and want to blame players who leave and call them mercenarys etc plus it gives sites like this something to talk about. . The truth of the matter is his wife CAN ONLY SPEAK SPANISH. . (Hence the reason he WAS NEVER GOING TO INTER) and she refused or couldn't learn English. . She didn't forget how to speak English. . this has always been the case and Masch was trying to leave for at least 2 YEARS. he should of gone last season but Rafa begged him to stay (remember last season we were tipped highly to reach No19) which he did so against the wishes of his family. .

This promise, his family and loyalty to the club he showed against his family's wishes last year were the reasons he did this. . and too right. . But with 18 months off contract left he would of just sat on it and left on a free to barca. . all party's including Barcalona knew this. . If liverpool had sold him last year then 30mil+ would of been the price no Masch's fault. . your'll all disagree as you want someone to blame. . but this is things from his point of view. .

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

So you think Mascherano has done nothing wrong in refusing to play against Man City? Granted He wanted to leave for non-footballing reasons and I can accept this as a reason for wanting to leave, but there is a way of doing things and refusing to play is not it.

And you say that he was never going to Inter due to the fact his wife can only speak Spanish, if this is the case then why did he say he was learning Italian?

Take Fabregas, everyone knows he desperately wanted to move to Barcelona but he didn't start whinging to the press and then refuse to play for Arsenal, he is a model professional who has just got on with things and has kept quiet in hope that things could be sorted out amicably, as has James Milner. Had Mascherano conducted himself in the manner Fabregas and Millner and even Christiano Roanldo and Xabi Alonso did last year and had a bit of respect for the club then we would have got closer to the actual price of the player like we did for Alonso. Alonso will always be loved by the Liverpool fans because the way he conducted himself on and off the pitch, the same cannot be said of Mascherano!

Javier Mascherano & Carlos Tévez where always world class footballers. Ownership of the players was very questionable.
These players ended up at Westham Utd because Media Sports Investments (MSI) tried to purchase Westham football club and the two players where sign of intent.

Media Sports Investments (MSI) is a London-based international investment fund[1] that until June 2006 was headed by the Iranian-born, British-educated, businessman Kia Joorabchian. It has attracted considerable attention for its ownership between 2004 and 2007 of Corinthians football club in Brazil, and for its involvement in the 'third-party' ownership of players, notably the Argentinian Carlos Tévez & Javier Mascherano

The source of the money behind MSI was a subject of considerable speculation. Roman Abramovich, owner of Chelsea, was at one time rumored to own a 15% share in the group, while Joorabchian was persistently linked to the oligarch Boris Berezovsky

The takeover of Westham football club did not happen and the players ended up at man utd and liverpool.

I do believe these two players would have ended up in spain if MSI was not involved. Liverpool would not of gotten a player of Javier Mascherano quality

Barcelona FC would purchased Javier Mascherano 4 years ago, but liverpool have truly benefited from Javier Mascherano and the supporters have been spoiled by the quality of footballers at Liverpool fc under Rafa Benítez leadership.

This has now come to a end, the money is finished and Roy Hodgson is the modern day Graeme Souness.

The football team will be stripped down and Roy Hodgson will make a huge amount of mistakes. He is the wrong man for the Job.

Roy Hodgson should of taken the England Job

And again. .

"Assume you are not a football fan - Have you ever watched a team who play two players up front who are similar in their style ? - They make the same runs, look for the same pass and generally get in each others way, so they end up that they cannot play together effectively - ya fool"

And obviously you are not a LFC fan, seen as we usually play Torres as lone striker and are looking for a back up for him, so obviously a back up in the mould of Torres would be good?

Think before you post you gimp!

LIVERPOOL manager Roy Hodgson insists he wants to build his team around people like Dirk Kuyt and has no intention of selling him.

The Dutchman's agent claimed yesterday he wanted to join former Reds boss Rafael Benitez at Inter Milan.

However, the 30-year-old showed no sign of that as he worked hard in the 2-1 Europa League play-off second leg victory over Trabzonspor, scoring the second goal.

"Dirk Kuyt is not for sale so excuse me for not understanding the speculation of being happy now he has said he is staying because I never doubted he was staying, " said Hodgson.

"Dirk is an important part of Liverpool, I've made it clear we don't welcome any offers for him and he's not for sale.

"As far as I'm concerned he is someone I believe in, someone I count on, and it is important we improve the team around the Steven Gerrards, Fernando Torres's, Jose Reinas and the Kuyts and not sell them and start all over again."

Hodgson said there had been no movement on Javier Mascherano's situation, who is a target for Barcelona, and dismissed suggestions Inter Milan had entered the bidding with a faxed offer to the club.

"I saw a fax the other day but I think it was sent tongue-in-cheek to be honest, " he revealed.

"The offer was so unbelievably far from a valuation it seemed to me the sporting director was putting the fax in to maybe satisfy people at the club.

"We didn't even bother to answer it, that is how ridiculously far from a serious offer it was."

Just wondering if anyone out there can answer this question for me? If a player refuses to play for his team like Mascherano did against Man City, Bergovic for Stoke and Ben Arfa for Marseilles have done recently, then are they not breaching their contract? If this is the case then surely the club are entitled to take the player to court?

How can it be fair that Liverpool pay £17m for a West Ham reserves player 3 years ago, the player then improves greatly and is regarded as being one of the best in the world in his position, then because he wants to leave and refuses to play we are forced into accepting a bid that is way below his true value just to get him out of the club to stop him unsettling the rest of the squad!

It's high time FIFA pulled their fingers out of their arses and did something about this as it is becoming increasingly popular in football and souring the great sport.

I for one am glad that the little prick is gone now as he has showed absolutely no respect for the club, his teamates and most of all the fans who loved him, but I am disappointed at the price we have accepted for him as I can guarantee you that no other big club would have allowed themselves to be hustled the way we have, £16m is a joke!

Can people get over the fact that we bought him for £18m and are now selling him for not much more (or maybe slightly less). .

He's not happy in England and had one year left on the contract at which stage he would 100% have left. £17m today is better than £0 next summer and an unhappy player for the season (we all know his temper).

Anyway don't think RH will be panic buying at this stage although I'd love to see a new left back (not Konchesky - average) and new striker / winger (not Young - big player in a small team).

As a Liverpool supporter of over 40 years I am disgusted that we look to have lost a player, the best in the world in his position, for about half his true value. All because Barcelona tapped up the player and advised him to throw a tantrum to get his, and their, own way. Barcelona have gone down in my estimation and shouldn't get away with it.

Don't think there is nothing we can do. Log on to Bracelona's website and you will see a list of their sponsors. Write to these companys and tell them you will no longer buy their products and stick to your word and boycott them, just like we have done to the s* tty Sun for over 20 years. I don't want to name them on here to give them publicity, but one is a famous sports brand with a swishy slogan. Another makes top of the range cars and has a 4 ring slogan, another is a world famous fizzy drinks brand, one is an online betting company and another is a well known car breakdown assistance company. Let's start hitting these Companys where it hurts and make them question their sponsorship of Barcelona, who could well lose money in turn if these Companys lose trade in the UK and get cold feet.

Ed Have you seen the Guillem Balague interview on SSN this morning? ? He is clearly talking in Euros! !

{Editor's Note: It comes down to whether you believe Guillem Balague or me?}

LOL, that's funny mate. I think i'll beleive the spaniard, I think he might be closer to the deal than you are, this guy makes money out of being in the know and reporting things like this.

{Editor's Note: So it is £13M and change for you in line with Gillian's view and all in good old Sterling for me. I am sure your confidence in our Spanish chum will no doubt be spot on.}"

Ed, i really don't think it's worth replying, it clearly states on the SSN site "Sky Sports' Guillem Balague understands that Barca will pay Liverpool an initial £16million for Mascherano, with a further £6million depending on performances and future success." Where on earth he's got that it's 16m in Euros i have no idea. Btw, the Beeb believe it to be £17.25 and as much as i like Balague, he was always close to Rafa and has been keen to portray LFC as being worse off without him. Read his book if you want a rose-tinted view.

Liverpool need to buy a striker, fast winger, defence midfield player and a left back
need a world class striker maybe aguro only if we get investment thought
wingers: ashley young 14-18M(english and good player) and maybe Jesús Navas(only get one of them if investment)
deffence midfield: Lassana Diarra(i would say that he is worth 10-15M)
Left back: if we do get a left back it has to be a world class player we already have two(no idea) only if investment
Players Out
mascherano 22mil
Itandje 1M
El Zhar 1.5M
plessis 1.5mil
Kuyt 15m(Maybe)
Total 26M(41M)

A Reply to this - Guillem Balague has become quite a divisive character on the subject of Liverpool in recent months. This is because he is the mouthpiece for Rafa in public. He says what Rafa can't say publicly - because of this when Snr. Balague is interviewed on TV or radio for example on Sky Sports, Five Live or Talksport he really loves to be very critical of Liverpool. Everything that is wrong at the club has nothing to do with Rafa at all, but the good things are all down to Rafa. There is no middle ground in his thoughts at all.
Snr. Balague previously was always an interesting contributor who I always enjoyed. Now he is always putting the anti Liverpool 'digs' and pro Rafa comments which make him quite unappealing to listen to.

27 Aug 2010 15:13:08
Latest Rumour. . (OR just plain common sense)

Just as Manure and Chelsea did with Rafa as they scared of letting him have any wingers (hence reason he had to sign strikers and play them there) to actually play the formation they both copied of him. .

Tottenham eager to ruin the chances of one of there 2 rivals for 4th place this season, have put in a bid for Ashley young straight after its announced we may have money from Masch sale. . they will outbid us. only to cancel the transfer last day of the window. .

Just like rafa reported every year here was the tactics from Manure and Chelsea. . .

People on the transfer rumour section of this site need to stop playing fifa 2010 then deciding which players they think will be at liverpool come the end of the transfer market. It appears to me Roy has come in and worked hard at the job he is being asked to do, looking at the strength and money spent by other teams around us realisticaly we will do well if we finish higher than sixth. Top flight football is all about fat cats spending their billions and liverpool are not on that boat at the moment unfortanately.

I'm worried that torres is out of form mif we sold him we could have made atleast 80 million imagine all the good players we could buy we might have been abel to trade with barcelona for messi plus masc.

Who said we would have got 80 million? First of all he was injured, and why do people believe that just because you have money they can buy any player they choose? Why would Messi leave Barcelona, the team he loves, just because we would give our right arm to play for Liverpool it does not mean all the players in world football would! Plus if Torres is worth 80 million then Messi the worlds best player would be worth what? Torres just needs time, also having him at the club will give Liverpool more pulling power when trying to sign other players when the take over is complete!

Since the Mash transfer confirmation this morning everyone has been talking about how we have been hard done by the £16m plus £6m add on's. I want to make it a little clearer, even though £22m (potential total) sounds ok it isn't as great, people on here are talking in £'s however, Guillem Balague (spelling) spoke about the figues in Euros not Pounds, taking into consideration the current exchange rate that ammounts to £13, 134, 780 up front and a further £4, 924, 844 depending on future success, apperances etc that may have been added to the deal. Therefore all this talk oabout spending the £16m we have received upfron for Mash is wrong. That dirty little argy chap got what he wanted and we have lost out on what we deserverd in terms of money. We took him away from West ham, re-built his career and this is the thanks.

it appears Newcastle are winning the race to sign Ben Arfa. .shame really

Carlito {editor's note - trust me, it is not a shame, he makes Collymore seem like a great team player who gets along well with his team mates.}

Yes a troublesome player can disrupt a team but if Ben Arfa is half the player that Collymore was I'd take him at LFC right now.

I don't know how many people on this site can remember Collymore at his very best but whatever problems he had off the pitch, when he was on it he could play out of this world.

I'd be rejoicing if we had a 25 year old Collymore at LFC today, warts and all. That doesn't mean I want to risk buying Ben Arfa though, as I doubt he'd be good enough to clean Stan's boots. {editor's note - he was also the main reason that we never won anything, he was a disgrace. Without him we would have had a team who had a good chance of picking up a trophy, with him we had a bunch of individuals who couldn't win.}

Look. we will NOT Be spending any money from the masch sale. rh has said that there is not enough time. masch deal likely to be 22m or 18 plus caceres. i'd take the cash if you ask me, although we will not be spending it. on the left back issue, rh is ready to experiment the young full backs(kelly, darby, mavinga robinson) in that position. when takeover is completed, expect a lot of signings in january unless rh deems those youngsters fit for the pl."

What are you on about? Hodgson said that he wanted Masch deal done by Sunday so he can spend the money. I would like to see Banega, Turan and a striker join before the end, and Kelly should play RB with Johnson RM as Johnson can attack and take people on and can shoot, but his defending is woeful. I know these targets may seem unrealistic or not. What do you think ed?

TomLFC {editor's note - Turan is not unrealistic, that lad would crawl over broken glass to pull on the shirt. He has undoubted ability, I think he is a no-brainer and I don't understand why we haven't signed him in previous transfer windows.}

Just a quick one

if liverpool have been taken over by new investors do they have to declare it straight away or can they wait until the last minute of the transfer window when they would of already have tied up new transfers without being ripped off because of new investment?

{Editor's Note: They would not need to declare it right away but it could not be kept under wraps for too long. But it has not happened.}

Just been thinking about who we have got, not who we wish for or who we will get within the next couple of days. one player springs to mind, glen johnson, he is just so so wasted on the defensive line, why not move him forward, as time after time he has shown such ability when he goes forward, and a good eye for goal too, the poor lad has not a clue how to defend,
lets not worry about who's coming, lets just figure how to use the talent we have in our great side to the very best of their ability. . . . . . including the best of our young talent. . . . .their time is now , we don't want anyone else's cast offs . . . . bravo young mr kelley!

"So still no clearer on this matter, can hodgson spend this money or not?is it tied to the debt or can it be used?some body must have real answers to this, it will determin if pool can purchase players or not."

There are two separate issues here that you seem to be muddling up?

Is the money tied to the debt? No. The money that Liverpool have for Mascherano is not tied to the debt.

Can RH spend the money? We don't know is the simple answer. It is in my view likely that he can spend a certain amount of the money - with justification to and agreement from the Board. And this is perfectly reasonable.

Given his recent history (last month) of purchases, I would have thought the last thing anyone wants is Roy running around Europe with a briefcase full of used tenners.

Sharkey.

27 Aug 2010 13:25:16
Guys,

RH isn't a mug! ! he (as we all) knew that The Argy was leaving this transfer window. The talk of not letting him leave unless our valuation was met was purely said to get in as decent offer as possible. The risk of keeping him and getting maybe £5mil less in Jan was too big to take. As Im sure we all agree we don't want anyone at the club that doesn't want to be there.
As Roy new he was bound to lose a major player he has already done his homeowork, scouting, wish list etc. He knows what he wants and im very sure he has made enquiries about certain players, we can all speculate as much as we want but the fact is there are 4 days till the transfer window closes and Mr Hodgeson needs to move quickly. With the experience he has I wouldn't be surprised if he has already agreed transfer prices and personal terms with at least 2 players which were then put on hold with a view to getting rid of the Argy before the "sunday deadline".

Liverpool
Steaua Bucharest
Napoli
FC Utrecht

Bye bye mascherano don't let the door hit you on the way out! N as for messi I hope he gets kidnapped by Somalian pirates then he will realise how inhumane living in England on £70000 a week really is

27 Aug 2010 13:14:19
With regards to huntelaar going to spurs! why being dutch should make u support the pool? arjen robben, dennis bergkamp & the great johann cruyff grew up supporting spurs! they are massivly supported over there & have a strong bond with both ajax & feyenoord. good luck to you guys this season

27 Aug 2010 13:10:34
Why is every one looking for a new front man. we have nando, kuyt, pacchenco, ngog even babel and jovanavic can play there. we need a left back and a right winger, if we can get a good right winger then kuyt can go up front where he belongs.

Because Nando is injured far too much, so we need someone good enough to play for long periods, Kuyt is not an out and out striker, he plays better just behind the striker, Ngog will be very good, but he's just not there yet, Babel is no where near prolific enough and for me Paccheco needs a bit more man strength before he can play a big part in the EPL, and Jovanavic is unproven in the EPL as a lone striker, we saw the last two seasons how badly we need more fire power and i don't think anything has changed!

Wel ed

just to but it out there am glad mash has finally gone it was becoming a joke all summer.

not sure of the fee as it hasnt been announced but i think whatever we get is good business as this i think is the start of getting rid of rafas defensive football.
just to say also people say he is worth alot more than that to tell the truth i think we paid far to much for him at the start.
hopefully roy can make 2 maybe 3 good signings over the next day are two.
what you think ed

the face man

I think the face man has a good point, masch was over rated, yes he can win a ball back but normall after hes given it away with his terrible passing. We can be more attack minded now.
Rumour has it that we could now make a move for van der vaart, he can play any position across the midfield.

So ins
Van der vaart 7-8mil
Konchesky 3.5mil

Not sure which striker so many names floating about but tainovin seems be the most likely.

P.S Whats the bets the face man not good looking at all!

In response to-

Well lets see shall we. . at lease the transfer window is closed soon. . so then at least you can all open your eyes. . we are being asset stripped, poulson was the replacement. . but i'm not holding my breath as i know once it does close there be excuses all born from the banks/ H&G marketing why we couldn't spend the money. . with fans still looking out for sugar daddys and marquee signings that strangly never seem to materialise. . even next year when torres and johnson and aquaman are sold your'll still not see it (it will be blamed on our performance which will be worse than last year). . . Open you eyes ask yourself the questions.

We will be bought out soon and our great club will move forward, and when it does i hope this will mean the end to all the conspiricy theorists like yourself that constantly make up bo* ocks, we will not be asset strpped because so it's a false economy to sell our assets as it would simple reduce the price of the club (meaning the buyer will have more money to send on new players anyway) and you say marquee signings and sugar daddys don't materialise, firstly marquee signing are only rumours, we have no money until the take over and broughton has stated all along about the process of selling the club and that it may take some time, the simple fact is the club has to be sold, HAS TO BE! if not then RBS will take control and it will be sold cheaper, giving even more money to spent on players and given Dumb and Dumber no profit. Remember Liverpool is one of the greatest football teams in the world and many wealthy people would love to own it, so to people that think we can end up like Pompey, NEVER, we are far to big commercialy, so try to use some common sense and stop listening to Kop Talk, it will take time but will be worth it in the end! !

Dave Prentice: Does Keith Harris have a buyer for Liverpool FC?
Aug 27 2010 by David Prentice, Liverpool Echo

"I'VE got a new buyer for the Reds, " said Keith Harris this week.

But don't bring out the bunting just yet.

Two years ago The Seymour Pierce consultant said: "As regards the sale of Everton, there are certainly grounds for optimism. It's a terrific club and having Bill Kenwright as chairman is one of the club's strongest selling points."

Bill's still waiting for a buyer to be brought to his desk.

Perhaps we should take more notice of Manchester United chief executive David Gill.

Earlier this year he said: "Keith Harris will go anywhere that there's a bit of publicity around. That's his modus operandi, but his track record in football isn't anything to write home about."

And he wasn't talking about the man with the duck.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .sorry to fellow reds fans and yes i am guilty of copy and paste, but i have divorced my wife and married my p.c, in other words been scouring the net trying to make sence of this takeover buisiness for weeks now . i came across this article about mr harris. . .it worried me what do you all think? . . . . .i think the board should be more open and up front as to what is happening to our beloved club. . . . for a start the truth is good. . y.n.w.a

Not a rumour. . just a suggestion(hopin that it come true)
if as report suggests we have obtained 21-22 m pounds for Masch then the best players to go for would be

Arda Turan(as we need a good one for the wing)
Ricky van Wolfswinkel(as no doubt we need a good 2nd striker)

Both of them would come within the 21-22m pound budget

27 Aug 2010 12:26:42
Why is every one looking for a new front man. we have nando, kuyt, pacchenco, ngog even babel and jovanavic can play there. we need a left back and a right winger, if we can get a good right winger then kuyt can go up front where he belongs.

Utrecht bought Ricky Van Wolfswinkel a year ago for 2.38 mil, they are expecting to sell him around the mark of 8 mil.
Ola Toivonen was also bought for a fee of 3.5 mil by PSV a year ago, now they are demanding a fee in the region of 15 mil for him. Same amount is being asked for Ruiz too, a fee which we are reluctant to pay. I don't think we would be buying a striker in excess of a 10-15 mil fee. Huntelaar on loan (or permanent), Wolfswinkel seems to be the most likely ones or any other decent striker who wouldn't cost us more than 10-12 mil. This is considering the fact that we are yet to buy a LB (seems like Konchesky). Also heard that madrid might allow M.Diarra to leave the club for free. As much as i would love to see us sign banega, taiwo and turan, there is simply no need or urgency for us to strengthen the positions they play nor do we have the funds available to sign them, although i expect us to move for them in the next season.

Sense And Logic.

I'M AFRAID WE MAY HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT SOME OF THIS IS TRUE. ROY HODGSON HAS HAD ALL SUMMER TO BRING IN PLAYERS. WE HAVE BEEN CRYING OUT FOR A STRIKER SINCE ROBBIE KEANE WAS SOLD SO IT HASNT JUST DAWNED ON US THAT WE ARE IN NEED NOW ITS BEEN LIKE THAT FOR SOME TIME.

AS FOR BENI HE DID ALL HE COULD, BUT UNFORTUNATELY AFTER WINNING THE CL GOT TOO BIG FOR HIS BOOTS - HE IS THE REASON WHY WE HAVE SUCH A POOR SQUAD OF PLAYERS - RESEMBLES THE SOUNESS DAYS! !

Sick of all the dreamers! ! !

Its all fine and well people making up silly little wish lists of players like. . aguero and van de vaart. How about we get real for a change! Until the yanks are gone there's no way there going to pay wages of that kind. Some people on this site have lost touch with reality! Yeah we'd all love roy to go out and buy 3 or 4 quality players before tuesday but lets face it. . it aint going to happen! In my opinion another centre mid is a must (Diarra would be great if wages and fee were kept low) Also we need cover for torres because despite people saying we should give kuyt and babel a chance they are not goal scorers who will get you 20 a season! Its goning to be a big task for roy to find a forward who scores, dosn't care for champ league futy and does not demand a massive wage and have the deal completed in 4 days!

Extremely dissaponted this morning that Mascha is going to Barcelona - not for the wanting but the money we are getting is an absolute joke!

He is undoubtably the best player in that position and to get such a derisery amount of money is just aaaaargh. . anyway we have to move in I just hope Roy has a decent replacement lined up for him we really could do without an Aqualani situation again this season.

{Editor's Note: I am still struggling to see how the money is anything but good. He wanted to move on - and if a player wants to move on and cannot be persuaded otherwise, then you let him go. There is no point in comparing the fee paid for Toure or any other player with the fee we have got for Mascherano. Time to move on.}

Point noted Ed, but we had the Fabregas to Barca situation it was clear to everyone that he wanted to go - he just didn't say it his Grandma Did ! Lol

{Editor's Note: Yep, I agree that there is this case-by-case situation. Sadly, I would think that Arsenal have probably agreed to let Cesc Fabregas move to Barcelona if certain criteria are met next summer - and this will have a financial basis. It was clear very early on that Arsenal were going to hold out for an unreasonably large figure - and that Barca did not have the money to pay for the player in that position - particularly as he will become a squad player rather than first choice. This is really where it will get interesting with the changes to the financial regulations next year.}

Yep right again Ed - Its a shame really and I'm not alone on this but he was idolised by LFC fans just a real choker he bhaved the way that he did showed no respect for the club, the fans and never gave the manager a chance.

Who is bothered if a player is cup tied? Europa league should be down the list on priorities anyway, get the money for mascherano, buy Diarra and konchesky. And look into the possibily of buying A.Young, Wolfswinkel or Mario Gomez.
By the way can someone tell me what happened to we have the best midfield on the world? now we have lucas and poulson, sorry to say, Benitez was a great tactian but he's ruined our club!

To all that keep saying swp to forget it he played and scored last night so cup tied and man city will not sell to us! Young also cup tied, konchesky is a no too! My feeling its got to late to get anyone decent now and more than likely the yanks are rubbing there hands together with the thought of 20mill for masch so we won't move forward until they are gone and new guys in! Who would want to sign at the minute its like a tatty old circus at the present

"Think we should go for thi young dutch kid Van Wolfswinkel scored a Hatrick last night looks a damn good player! Heard we had Scouts in the stands and a bid of £10 million might do the trick? Any thoughts?'

He is cup tied and so is toivonen, shame though"

Cup tied? Big deal. Our season isn't just a couple of Europa League games. Hopefully it will be 50+ games. These players are still eligible to play in the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Carling Cup. We would be buying a player for the long term, not just to compete in Europe.
Van Wolfswinkel looks like a decnt goalscoring prospect

You say RBS don't want a PR fiasco, this is not asset stripping, its asset holding, the money is held in clubs debt, masch was an asset as all players are, the board will not be able to release this money, as its not theres.

To the guy who wrote the initial post about players' haircuts having an impact on their reputation of being perceived a good or bad player, I agree with you, mate, 100%.Great players have appealing hairdos/ haircuts, and also nice names too.Torres, Villa, Rush, Fabregas, Turan, Evra, Aguero, Ramos, Ronaldo you name them.
Then you have the turn-offs, Voronin, Boateng, Kompany, Jovanovic, Kyrgiakos, Muntari, Olofinjana, Biram Diouf, the list goes on.

Drenthe's a good player, but I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole so long as he has those dreads. His name's also not appealing.Drenthe?Oh please!I don't want no dreadlocked player at my beloved Liverpool.

I have such a feeling that from the Mascherano cash that Roy will do something out of the blue to surprise us pool fans. After seeing that the team need real quality going forward i can see Fabio Coentrao coming into Liverpool. He is a natural winger and has been converted into a left back. He could do the job both ways. The fee may be a stumbling block however. Also i would love for us to sign a natural goalscorer that would excite us on the terraces. Someone like gabby Agbonlahor. Quick and v v exciting. Look these are what i want to happen and i hope roy makes some signings like these. Also Ed what replacement for Javier do you think Liverpool may be in the market for?. . .and do you think liverpool should get a replacement like an attacking midfielder?. .some one like Rafael Van Der Vaart? . . . . hughboiii. . {editor's note - I really hope we don't buy Agbonlahor, apart from the fact he is not in any way, shape or form a natural goalscorer, he is also so bad the Villa fans boo him. I don't feel we have any need for a replacement for Mash, we need width not more central players.}

Has everyone lost there mind ? Talking about players being signed and big offers in for strikers. FACT : We are in the middle of being sold does anyone really think them gready yank b######s are going to sanction any deals ? ? ?

I hate to break this to you all but the only deals we will be doing is loan deals and anybody brought in will be no1's for £ 2 - 3 millon. I mean paul Konchesky ? ? cmon he isn't Liverpool class is he ? ?

I think we all have to wait and keep our fingers crossed and hope for a takeover soon so we can return to our rightful place in prem league.

Just heard that Mascherano has gone to Barcelona for £13m! What an absolute joke! They rejected £12m but accepted £13m? Liverpool were too weak and Mascherano behaved disgracefully. He should have remembered which club gave him his reputation, and allowed him to be captain of Argentina. I know he wants CL football, but he shouldn't have been a coward and should have helped the team get back in the top 4.

He will now have a reputation of if things aren't going well, ie if Madrid win La Liga, he will want to leave.

Just my view on things, why do people think we are getting a bad deal for masch, for me 18mil plus add ons is good for a player that will disrupt the team if he stays any longer and offers nothing going forward, there are plenty of players out there that would do just as good a job as him and give much more to the team and for a resonable price, for me m.diarra would be the direct replacement and for practicaly nothing, then the money we get could go towards strengthening other areas, ie the wings and front line, plus paul koncesky a step by in my view, fabio and insua are just as good if not better.

27 Aug 2010 10:37:11
Well i for one am absolutely over the moon with the reported deal we're getting for Masch; 18 months on contract, wantaway, on strike - i really don't see how we could have hoped for more. Also, don't forget that his p1ss poor performances at the start of last season were one of the reasons we were off the pace. Once he had his head turned that was it, we held onto the wrong midfielder as Alonso was professional enough that if he were forced to stay he would at least have given it 100%.

It'll be interesting to see whether Hodgson uses the money or decides he won't get good value so late in the day. Pacheco showed last night that he deserves the chance, at least in the cup games.

27 Aug 2010 10:37:02
Hodgson may not be allowed to spend this money, being told by a finance friend that the money is linked to the debt, macsh was an asset so in theory is part of the debt?any player joinning Liverpool now must be funded by agreed transfer kitty, any asset sold goes to RBS debt, not sure about the rule on this one? any clarity on this would help.

To
STOP CORRECTING PEOPLE WHEN YOUR WRONG YOURSELF! ! ! !
MASCHERANO, as has been stated time and time and time again, had 18 months left to run on his contract he signed for liverpool in feb.2008, a four year contract . this would and does leave 1 year and 6, soon to be 5 months.

There is value in correcting/ helping people, but when it comes to a virtual attack on a poster, make sure you don't make yourself look like the IDIOT.

RE:
Liverpool Rumours
Mash is now taking with barca , with the money from him plus added money from prev sales we need to buy a world class striker , maybe aguero benzema etoo . Pls don't go and buy carlton cole or zomora or evan bent , we need world class

When are some people going to wake up to our situation. We don't have the money to buy this level of player, we aren't in the champions league, we haven't won a league game yet.
Chelsea couldn't get Aguerro to come over, so after turning down the premier league champions, who are in champions league, he is going to sign for Liverpool.
It is a long and tough road back to the top four.

I live outside Melwood training ground just spotted Roy shaking hands with a guy in long white robes. He was holding one of those massive cheques. I think it was gandolf the white. Giving him his autograph. joke he he.

Anybody heard anything on takeover?

Anyone have any news on the so called press conference today?
Is just for weekend game?
Update on takeover?
Did they know masc deal would be done?
Comments please?

C'mon people wake up i think we are mad to assume that roy will see any of the money from the sale of masch or any body else for that matter, there are people talking about ibra, eto'o and many other big names but can you see the dallas cowboys wanting to spend a penny more on the club, i don't think you will see any of these names until the club is taken over then who knows.

{Editor's Note: I am still struggling to see how the money is anything but good. He wanted to move on - and if a player wants to move on and cannot be persuaded otherwise, then you let him go. There is no point in comparing the fee paid for Toure or any other player with the fee we have got for Mascherano. Time to move on.}

27 Aug 2010 09:46:54

How on earth does Lucas play full games against ManCity and Trabzonspor and Pacheco gets a total of 20mins and Shelvey no time at all?

If RH knows what he's doing then he must clearly be showcasing Lucas for a transfer out.
On a more positive note, I'm glad Kelly played a full game. He should play as many games as he can handle.

Regarding transfer rumours:
Toivonen - looks a great player but PSV seems to keep raising his transfer fee.
Banega - I don't understand how he's still at Valencia considering his transfer price; 10-12m seems a bargain.

Lassana Diarra - no rumours about LFC trying to get him; a pity because he looked like the next Makalele when he was at Portsmouth.

Reports in Italy this morning are: Liverpool are lining up Udinese's Turkish born midfielder Gokhan Inler as a replacement for Mascherano. The 26 Swiss International wanted by Arsenal not so long ago could be an excellent addition.

Plus it appears Newcastle are winning the race to sign Ben Arfa. .shame really

Carlito {editor's note - trust me, it is not a shame, he makes Collymore seem like a great team player who gets along well with his team mates.}

{Just a little disappointed Editor to lack of depth in our squad and to be honest i'm willing to give anyone a try. Is there new developments on that front by any chance? Thanks}

{Editor's Note: From a Liverpool perspective there has not been any dealings for Hatem Ben Arfa - who looks likely to be at Newcastle this season.}

Right,
Masch is going, we'll get a decent left back (if not then we'll just have to put up with Konchesky). Get Ashley Young on the wing, Scott Parker and another up front which will be either be Ricky Van Wolfspenis, Toivonen or Ruiz. So.

All you guys talking up Pazzini need to calm yourselves, It is a well known fact that Italians do not travel well (there may be one or two exceptions but most stick to Italy) so that's that hopefully dealt with.

Next up please, please remember that KopTalk, Sky Sports News and the BBC website are not gospel so should not be treat as such.

Finally which Diarra are we allegedly after, hope Lass NOT Mahama!

We have all woken up to hear the news that Monster mash is on his way. I have one thing to say "on yer bike you toe rag!, enjoy yourself keeping the barcelona bench warm because you are not gonna get many games ahead of Xavi and Iniesta et al" Liverpool have missed a trick I feel as they reportedly have accepted 16m with 6m extras once certain criteria have been met eg 100 games, titles Champs League. .
why did we not negotiate for a bit more cash after all mash was desperate to go and barcelona wanted a replacement for Toure and have lusted after Mash for time. I think we will be surprised at the movement in the transfer market over the next few days at LFC. Hodgson will look to change 3 players with the money. . . . . I hope to say ta ra to Lucas he is about as much use as tits on a fish !

The reds have agreed to a undisclosed fee for masch. He acutally is fit, just he is refusing to play. Liverpool want to keep that down. Also only money no players included!

In Reply to:

(Pssst. Remember me? Remember my 3 posts? Quick reminder, Torres to Chelsea (50 million), kuyt submitted transfer request and mascherano to barca (fee undisclosed) and no sale of the club with the owners trying to refinance as well as asset strip. Well now I can reveal the most potentially damaging fact. Gerrard has asked Struan to do the deal with Madrid, I don't know the details yet but I will soon. Don't tell anyone I told you.)

So what your basically saying is that one of your three rumours has came true and the rumour that came true is the one that every one in the world knew about as the player was told by LFC last year that he could leave and also when the knew manager was appointed this year he gave a press conference to the worlds media saying that the player wanted to leave but would only go on LFC's terms. Shocking, you must be well connected to have found out this well below the radar information.
Given your current reliability rating im going to put a bit of money on Gerrard staying.

Roy was very protective and professional when he said Mascherano wouldn't be playing against Citeh because "his head was not in the right place" when it was commonly known that the player had downed tools. Thankfully the long running saga of his transfer is about to end and we can all get on with planning for the future. Regardless of who we sign we could have a deeper and more pressing problem on the field and I have to say one which can ONLY be solved by the players involved. Our two main men Gerrard & Torres have been off colour for some time but its not their physical condition which troubles me - its the possibility that their mental attitude is "not at the right place". We have seen many games over the last year where both our superstars have drifted out of games with no indication of the talent which can alter a game. Their attitude rubs off on all the team and when they go missing the team follows. Thats when draws turn into losses and stone-wall wins struggle to be draws. Come on lads, you lead and we will follow.

I was optimistic and was looking forward to the new season but after watching the last few games we should really be Concerned. Signing Joe Cole had brought new optimism and hope but all has faded and replaced by fear. We have only got 5 days to go before transfer window shuts and with the current squad and some players due to leave, I think there are dark times in front of us. Unless the following issues are addressed we are not going to win anything let alone finish 4th.
1. Lucas is staying. He is too slow and is not creative enough. Definitely not a match influencer. Aqua an £18 mil "replacement for Xabi" signing by wasteful Rafa has gone for good. We were linked Ever Benga whatever happened to him? Linked with Ben Arfa too. But it looks like he is going to Newcastle. Anyone coming? What if Gerrard got injured?
2. Even though he has scored tonight Kuyt should not be here. He is not technically gifted and his passing is not the standard we should be expecting at Liverpool. His goal scoring record would not be acceptable any of our rivals. People talk about his work rate but, its all down to the mistakes he makes and always trying to rectify that.
3. Maschrano is leaving and no proper replacement.
4. No world Striker to back up Torres.
5. For some reason or another, all the strikers we want to sign don't want to be here or we can't afford them. Bryan Ruiz (wants champions league), Ola Tioven (would have forced a transfer if he wanted to be here) , Aguero , Suarez, Huntellar(we can't afford),
6. No left Back signed yet
7. No Proper outright winger
8. ABOVE ALL NO TAKE OVER INSIGHT
If u are concerned like me add to the list and make your voice heard wherever u can.

27 Aug 2010 02:14:44
Liverpool will soon be at the top of the world again u heard it frm me first.

To the person who posted WORRYING TIMES

I 100% agree with what you say i have sat back for a while with this site and have seen a lot of bulls£$t posted. If half the people who speculated on this site visited Anfield week in week out and visited the pre match piss ups in the many great boozers that stand under the KOP then they would know that our CAPTAIN and our NUMBER 9 are far from happy. Both our number 8 and our number 9 are much from happy as they have been promised big name signings in this window which are yet to prevail. let me name a few AGUERO, JESUS NAVAS, ARDA TURAN all great players but too good for the BIGGEST CLUB in the world. Sorry for sounding so negative but i will still be at Anfield on sunday. Torres and Gerrard WILL leave in January if these big signings don't come in before the end of THIS window. Where does that leave us. It leaves us thinking about where are history stands? are we still a big club competing for the TITLE(not the F$%KING top4) were LIVERPOOL not Aston Villa, and can we still compete with the ELITE( Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan) We Beat all of them comfortably in the CHAMPIONS league in the last 4 years. Will somebody please tell me where we stand coz i aint got a clue. TAKE OVER RANT T.B.C
