There's defensive football; then there's that.

That performance was more about one mans ego, than it was about anything else.
Parking he bus is fine in those situations, I even applaud it under the right circumstances, as it shows discipline.

But that antagonising, negative, unsportsmanlike timewasting and general "tactics" were atrocious. I hate to think there are managers and players out there who are willing to do that. Football is about results, yes, and those "tactics" really worked.
But you really have to wonder just how much pride and self respect you'd have to forego in order to achieve those results.

Just one mans view.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mourinho has won league titles at every club he's been at, consistent performances in the cups and has won 2 champions league trophies with teams one would not describe as the favourites. I imagine he has a lot of pride.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maureen has never cared what anyone thought about him which is why he invites so much contempt from the outside because his ego trips and level of narcassism know no bounds. Doing what they did today just showed that he openly admitted to not being able to compete w/ Liverpool by just simply playing football. IMO, We move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

That is how Chelsea have played football under Mourinho and we knew what to expect.

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly AG. I could have told you last week the tactics that Chelsea would employ. It was up to us to find a way through and we didn't.
Everything else is just sour grapes fellas.
I felt that we lacked patience yesterday. Our players were getting frustrated about Chelsea's tactics when really all we should have done is kept the ball for 90 mins if necessary.
We did not need the win, keep the ball and if a chance to score arrived then brilliant, if not then we have the ball which means that Chelsea could not score.
For the first time this season our naivety showed through.
Having said all that, 11 wins out of 11 is something to be proud of and it may yet bring us a trophy when all the dancing stops.
I am so proud of this team whether we finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd this season.
Still dreaming.

Agree0 Disagree0

Listen it's not about Mourinho tactics. It was up to Liverpool to break them down and it's up to Liverpool to shut them out, they failed on both. It was two mistakes on our own players behalf that cost us the game the same mistakes which have been evident all season in defence. And also the way Liverpool fanny around at the back with the ball is an accident waiting to happen. Mourinho has not won all them trophy's from being one dimensions he is able to change tactics for different teams and get results and at the end of the day it's a results based business. Liverpool have one way of playing and if it dosnt work they don't know what to do.

Small teams like the plastics will never win anything playing football like that. That's why if we don't win it, I rather Citeh do.

Agree0 Disagree0

Singred, like 2 leagues, 2 FA Cups (1 against you) and a Champions League playing in a similar manner? Ridiculous comment mate

Agree0 Disagree0

2 leagues and one CL for that investment over how many years? Good enough?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is three league championships - but do you realise how embarrassing you are all making the Liverpool fans look as really bad losers.}

27 Apr 2014 23:38:01
Hi every red and ed, I was disappointed today like everybody but if a team do not play football like Chelsea done today and waste time playing the ball and use all these childish tactics as they call them nowadays well they should have a cup for tactics and not football!
I think we should concentrate on the next game and keep calm and that is all we can do. Ed001 what do you think?
Hibsylfc

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Those weren`t tactics. What we saw was chelsea surrendering from the get go and refusing to compete. If that works for them which it did, then good for them. The pundits call him a genius which baffles the mind because as BR said, anyone can park two buses and refuse to play. ON to the next game w/ the same determination because the fat lady is still yet to sing.

Agree0 Disagree0

In the end we gave them both goals by conceding possession & lack of concentration. all that is left now is for us to win our last two games and see who lays top at the end. But I would hate to finish below 2nd.

Bitterly disappointed by the result today, but thought I'd spread some news. On the way up from Euston I sat next to the editor of the NBC website of BPL coverage. He was a Saints trainee in the same team as Adam Lallana, and now as part of the media has decent inside knowledge and links within the club, in fact regularly speaking to Lallana.
He told me several big clubs are interested in Lallana but Lallana is currently hopeful of becoming "the next Le Tissier" and staying at Southampton for his whole career and he hopes to settle them as a top six club. Southampton are not short of cash and can comfortably afford to keep him, even if his value decreases over the next year, particularly as Shaw looks likely to move on.
However he pointed out much of this is due to Lallana's love of Pochettino and the club are less than certain that the Argentine will stay throughout summer with the whole chairman saga slightly troubling him and Pochettino wants a new contract with a bumper pay rise.
If Pochettino leaves, the chance of Lallana leaving is a high one, and my new found friend agreed Lallana would be a player perfectly suited to LFC. He also promised to pass on that I would donate to Liverpool if we were to fork out on him as a thanks offering!

So to conclude as things stand it's unlikely we (or anyone else for that matter) will sign Lallana this summer as things stand, but if it seems there's unrest surrounding Pochettino then keep your eyes peeled.

The league's not gone boys. YNWA.

A lot of you seem to be complaining about the way Chelsea played. But it was the smart thing to do. Teams that play 'attractive attacking football' have come to Anfield and lost. If Chelsea had played attacking football they would have lost too. Especially since Hazard's injured, Oscar's gone off the boil, Schurrle is a bag of Revels and Willian hasn't been the best in the attacking 3rd. I won't even bother mentioning their misfiring strikers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nobody`s asking them to play attacking football or open up to suit us. Other teams have come to Anfield and been quite defensive. What Chelsea did was refuse to play nor compete which is fine ONLY when the other team makes a mistake which we did. Time wasting and slumping on the pitch for cramps along with other childish antics just shows that Jose was so scared of us that he refused to play by parking two buses. If that`s a coach`s gameplan for success, then God help the chavs in the CL this season because they`re going to need him dearly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Best we all play defensive, negative football so we all have a better chance of winning games. Seems Sam Alardyce is a progressive-minded tactician after all. God help the Premier League

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not complaining about his defensive football. Its his own style of play as a manager. but those time wasting was well. not professional at all.

Gutted we didn't get the result today. guess we never looked like losing it till Gerrard slipped . but what a great run to put us top of the league and along the way give the funs soo much joy. 2 wins and we finish at least 2nd what an achievement . but one thing is Man City's record at Everton is won one in the last 11yrs and that was in 2009. soo heres hoping

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Man City have to play 3 games in 8 days and win them all to win the league including the one at Everton which is no joke. We`ll see what happens BUT we must first take care of ourselves and focus on the next game because the fat lady is still yet to sing

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2014 22:01:24
Would you rather have played 36 games and have 80pts
or
Played 35 games and have 77 pts and have to go to Everton and win?
A lot of football to be played yet people

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Villa drew with us at anfield quick team decent counter attack and west ham well they park the bus
We got a very good palace side coming up and a Newcastle team on a bad run just take it day by day

Agree0 Disagree0

36 and 80 for me. The 80 points are in the bank. Now Liverpool and Chelsea only have two more chances to screw up, while City has three.

Agree0 Disagree0

Far from over!

That one just hurt more than I thought it would.

Agree0 Disagree0

We got the points, City don`t. THey go to Everton and host villa who are not safe and City has struggled against both teams this year and in the past. Liverpool still have the advantage in this regard.

No point beating around the bush. unfortunately we just weren't good enough to break down Chelsea's 10 man defence!! I feel absolutely devastated, firstly trying to console myself, then my 16 year old son! However, we must always remain positive because in time we WILL conquer & succeed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Will be okay. The fat lady hasn`t sang yet. We go again!

Agree0 Disagree0

Really think we have to do it this year, a miracle is needed! Not saying we won't bounce back next season, but seeing as we've come so close, some players might find it hard to put it behind them! Stevie must be wondering what he has to do! Pre season, I would have bit your hand off for top 4, but now, I bet the players won't be able to feel anything but disappointment if we don't win it this year! May sound stupid, but it's how it works! Anyway 2 wins is all we can do, and hope they don't pick up 3 wins, come on you reds!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree with you. We have to take this chance or it could be another 5 years before were back here again with another completely new squad. In 08-09 I thought we were a player or 2 shy of the perfect squad, mainly the wide attacking/midfield players and the same this year and yet everything has clicked into place. We win our last 2 and it could well be ours but miss out and we have to get in the few players we need and take the momentum into next season or risk, as I said, another 5 year gap in title challenges.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure I agree. Staging posts. City gradually got to 3rd with investment in better players and then were able to win the title. Next season we will still have the best strike force, a well balanced midfield and a great manager. The fans believe again. Just need that defence sorting.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2014 21:13:03
I have a feeling being beat today might be a godsend, because stevie will be even more determined to make it right. The team also know's we're still top and if city or chelsea want it they better be prepared to fight for you. City still have to go Everton and I also don't like the look of Chelsea at Cardiff on the last day. It's not over yet!!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have that feeling as well Si, its the way to look at it. We were going to lose at some point for sure, had it been against a lesser side, we would have given up.

But the biggest successes in the world come after a horrendous blow. Look at bayern, they were outdone by the 19th century football of chelsea none other, against all the odds, on their own doorstep. The year after, aginst one of the most psycholically damaging defeats in football history, they win the treble, and are the proclaimed best team in the world.

It isn't about giving up in defeat, its about how you bounce back. This is the real character test.

We go again!

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on, boys! We have the points, City still have to win 3 games in 8 days to win the league on goal diff. If people think City will not be under enormous pressure then they`re dreaming. They play at Everton where they are perrenially poor and host Villa who are not safe and beat them this season already. God help them because they`re going to need him. We have nothing to lose anymore because in the eyes of the pundits, it`s City`s to lose now. We defo don`t retreat, don`t surrender and we keep playing and believing because we are in forthe ride of our lives come mid May.

Dont no why we are hearing all this gloating from chelsea fans saying were whining. they came they parked the bus wasted time from the 1st minute an they got the win fair play the only things that's grates on me is these are the same fans that were moaning that west ham came an did it at the bridge so they should have no complaints when this is leveled at them. The only thing is roman won't put up with that every year he's constantly said he wants to see attacking football so he won't have enjoyed todays win as much as he would have if theyd won playing good football.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lets be honest, Chelsea's have the cheek to say that west ham parked the bus but all they resorted to today was having 10 men in their 18 yard area and then hoofing the ball to demba ba!
You don't need to pay someone millions for the most pathetic tactics, pay me a quarter of what mourinho gets paid and I'll do get Chelsea to play the same brand of dire football that they are playing both at home and abroad!

Serious question Gent's,

Liverpool, just like my beloved Arsenal, always try to play the game the way it should be played, and always play to their strengths.

But, bearing in mind, how important today's game was to Liverpool, do you think BR should have adopted a more 'Mourinho' approach to the game?

(I can't stand Mourinho, but he knows how to get a result, ie Anfield and Etihad. And let's be honest, it was obvious he was going to come to Anfield with a defensive formation and counter your attacks.

So, on that basis, job done. But, do you think you should have changed formation/tac-tics and gone for the 'draw'?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No, as prior to the match, a win for us would have taken Chelsea out of it. However, in hindsight, you may be right.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point and my answer will change with hindsight to yes. That said, if Gerrard hadn't made the mistake I think they were there for the taking. I'm still gutted and trying really hard not to take it out on the mrs :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I just think Chelsea defended incredibly well and there were few chances for either team to score {though Liverpool created more than Chelsea}.

Chelsea were too strong defensively for our attack break down. I do not think we could have played for a nil nil and we still could not score with the majority of possession,

Hats off to Mourinho to be fair, hate him and respect him, he got a result playing very little football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suffolk,

just kick the dog mate, less hassle lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it all goes back to Gerrards unfortunate slip, if that didn't happen then the score stays 0-0 and we would have been comfortable.

Chelsea were never going to attack us so even if we didn't make a break through, a goaless draw would have been acceptable to us.

Once we conceded we felt the pressure to score, Chelsea had something to defend and we panicked.

You can't win them all and we have had the luck in the last few weeks, the luck was with Chelsea today.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair if Rogers had changed your style and you had still lost the question would be if only we'd played our own game and gone at them!
Its football and a learning curve for a a young manager and team

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair, Chelsea barely had a shot, just individual errors and misfortunes, you say they happen, but they didn't to Chelsea! The only thing I would have changed is not going out 100% as predictably Chelsea were going to sit, so why couldn't we keep the ball for ages trying to tempt them out at 0-0! Pace in behind and counter attacks weren't going to work at a team with 9 players in their 25!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we had to be true to our style of play. After all that's how Liverpool got to the top of the league. Maybe a bit naive of Liverpool I guess and could have played for the draw but where is the fun in that? I still think there might be another upset on the way. I just hope its not us against Palace.

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if we would have played for a draw the mistake would have happened. They didn't score through good counter attacking play, it was mistake when we were in possession of the ball.

Just unfortunate but I feel there is still another twist in the title race. We should continue to be positive because the team have been fantastic this season and they deserve 100% support until the 90th min on the 11th may. Two wins and you never know!

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea's formation today was 9-0-1. Absolute dire 'anti-football'. Only one team played football that was Liverpool and the only reason why they scored was because of mistakes by us, not because they played better. More shots, more possession, more corners. and we still lose. Mourinho's tactics were straight out of Sunday league/pub football. Rubbish!

Agree0 Disagree0

We used to play counter attack football when we had Owen and to a certain extent Torres.
We can't complain about Jose's tactics today.
I won't even complain that Brendan didn't adapt our style to take on Jose.
We have won 11 in a row, he can't change our style after that.
I don't even think today's result is a triumph for Jose's tactics. It was obvious what he was going to do, it's what he had to do. If LFC had got the first goal with a bit better finishing, I could see Chelsea getting shot to bits. But credit their defence, they kept a clean sheet, and that is why they won. A very disciplined defensive display and suboptimal finishing from LFC.

We did the same at Old Trafford many a time under GED with Danny Murphy scoring the goal. That's life, we'r still top of the league at the end of April.

Agree0 Disagree0

Understand what you saying Ken, but we have never, never time wasted anything near the scale of what they did today, how on earth did it take the ref 92 mins to book Coe for timewasting? Laughable and pointless in equal measure that mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hindsight is always 20/20 so that`s normal to say BR should have done this or that. As for tactics, those aren`t tactics or gameplans. Jose wanted the game postponed and because he din`t get his wish, he simply REFUSED to play by playing 10 men behind the ball and resorting to childish shananigans while hoping for a slip or mistake. There`s defensive football and there`s a refusal to play the game. Even Barca, Bayern or Real would have struggled today and we know tow of these teams have struggled before against this strategy. They might have won the battle but thanks to our very own BORINI, they will NOT win the war.

Agree0 Disagree0

TBH I would have been screaming at the TV if he had put out a team to defend or get a nil nil, no matter how sensible it may have been. I honestly think on another day the keeper might have been slower to react, some of those shots may have hit the target. One LFC goal would have transformed that game. Chelsea would have been forced to actually play a bit of footy! Hindsight is useless in football unless you have a time machine. Forget it anyway, we have Palace and the bar codes and that should be our only focus. We will see where we end up. Regardless of our position I am proud of this team and the gaffer! YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Ken Augero above that Rodgers has won last 11 games so he didn't change the style.
But I feel Rodgers lack of experience had cost us the point.
Just imagining if it was Rafa Benitez in place of Rodgers for that one game, he would have been quite tactical about it.
But lessons learned from this lost. And am sure playing in Europe will even broaden Rodgers experience.
Lets hope for a Miracle to happen, I still remember defeating Newcastle 6-0 last season. Hope our strikers score as many goals to defeat the Goal difference.
This season has been EPIC!

Although Mourinho is an unsavoury character to say the least, you have to give him and his team credit. City's game plan was: We'll play our game, they'll play theirs, and ours will be better than theirs. It was, but his gamble didn't pay off. Jose's team set out to nullify us, and they did so very well. Our performance was poor today; too many long range shots and crosses, but whatever happens, this has been a fantastic season for us. The objective was to get UCL, and we have done that.

There's a rumour doing the rounds that Brendon has lost the deposit on the open top bus! lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's alright, be thankful Everton won't be doing a parade this year, you'd go bankrupt from the deposit.

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't hire them Martin, we own one to use when we win, the last one in the 2012 League cup the same year we beat you in the FA semi, I believe you used to own a bus as well but it is rusted outside Goodison!

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice on Plymouth Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Martin, let's have it right, Walton f.c. have got a season ticket with Arriva buses for there annual Liverpool never won the league parade around Walton. with whoever is captain lifting an imaginary trophy in the air, WHY? Because you will always be in our shadow and are only interested in what where doing because your team will never win anything. FACT!

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently Everton are bringing a DVD out tomorrow of the season highlights so far, Liverpool v Chelsea is the first clip.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hahah lol to the above comment, we used our bus in 2012 for the league cup. Your embarrassing . 20 odd years, spent as much as any other premier league side and still can't win the league, what a joke of a side! 1 trophy in 7/8 years. What Everton do on a shoe string budget to what you lot have done spending hundreds of millions is brilliant. Liverpool are history, as u like to keep reminding us!

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Everton had a team bike, I am sure I saw Gareth Barry giving Tim Howard a backie last week.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stand

Agree0 Disagree0

Who`s the clueless manc on this site? I`d be more worried about what a rookie like Giggs or a nutjob like Van Gaal will do to your club. N BTW, we can still win the league regardless of this result. Can`t say the same for your pathetic lot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redohio. Lol. Clueless Manc? You make me laugh. Giggs won't get the job, Van Gaal on the kther hand has won the champions league with different sides and is the reason Barca and bayern play the way they do. You've finished 5th, 6th, 7th over the last 5-6 years and because we've had one bad transitional season you actually think your now in a better position long term? Haha Jesus! The squad was deteriorating long before Moyes came in, was always going to be a tough season! But come the summer when we make 4-5 top class signings we will be back where we belong! In out worst ever season we have the best away record in the league. Sort ourselves out this summer and well be bang on it next year. You lot on the other hand won't have the luxery of a week off inbetween games, will pick up injuries, plus teams will learn to shut you out, and as yesterday proves you don't have a plan B. I guarentee you don't make top 4 next year. And you just threw away your only chance at the league too. Haha! Couldn't of worked out better being Gerrard who cost u too! Bit of karma for 3 years ago when he gifted Chelsea the goal that won them the league! Enjoy second boys! Another trophyless year for u lot. h

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - actually Cruyff is the reason Barca play as they do, Van Gaal was merely one of a whole string of coaches employed to coach the team to play the way Cruyff set out.}

Man utd fans laughing about Gerrards slip yesterday is embarrassing. The biggest slip this year is from 1st to 7th.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs signed some top class players in the summer if I remember correctly.
anyway he will have to adapt to the premier league just as much as your new players. but i'm sure they will be eased in nicely.
P.S good luck with your Europa league Chase.

Title is man city's
Can we really expect Everton to beat a strong city team with all their players back?
And a rubbish Aston villa side with nothing to play for and a west ham side to take points at city?

Liverpool have done extremely well and will get even better next season if they buy the right players

So let's just take it and be realistic with realising city have Chelsea to thank for the title

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Look just ignore man city they slipped up against Sunderland some faith

Agree0 Disagree0

Rednobster, it was nice for you to get one prediction right out of 11 wasn't it? ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Giving in already red lobster?
I'm disappointed!

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't need Everton to beat City though, just a draw will do as long as we win our last two games :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Aston villa side with nothing to play for. you seen the table?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2014 19:18:07
If we go on to win our next 2 games, and not win the title, we will still have gained 39 out of 42 possible points.
I don't agree we'll have thrown it away, and even finishing 2nd(for me) would be a great achievement.
What we all hoped is that Rodgers and Liverpool would be able to bring our form from the second half of last season into this one. We did that.

If we can take our 2nd half form from this season into next season, we'll be near unstoppable.
Up the reds!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Welshboydave, not trying to be all doom and gloom, but next season we are in champs league .so we will struggle to compete on all counts, our squad is very small we might buy 3/4 players but so to will arsenal, man city, Chelsea, utd spuds .so we will do well to get in top 4 again next year .this was our chance, but we just fell short .the big question is can the players pick there selfs up for rest of this season .

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2014 18:48:32
What if we beat Crystal Palace 5-0 and then go and beat Newcastle 8-0?
That would mean the title is still very much in our hands wouldn't it?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We have beat palace 9 nil before but a very very long time ago think I was 11 but stranger things have happened but can't see us winning by them margins fingers crossed city slip up best chance we have

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not out of our hands atall dispite what the Everton fans want the Everton players will not want to loose to city, city have three games to play two of them against relagation battlers ignor the goal difference.

Agree0 Disagree0

City play 3 games in 8 days to win the league by goal diff alone. Pressure anyone?

27 Apr 2014 18:47:29
I would just like to say how great itis to be a Liverpool fan we have done great this year and even if we finish third it'll still be a great improvement.
Everton fans are hoping they loose 5-0 to city over on there page just to stop us, that really shows me how proud I am to be a Liverpool supporter! it's a honour guys!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dont think youve been reading our site at all. Most want Everton to smash Citeh, because they couldn't give a toss about you lot, more concerned with our own teams chances of Champs League. Me I hope we lose 10-0, because you lot are the most unbearable people I know. Have even checked the newspaper for any underground shelters for hire for a while in case of the unbearable happens. Must be said though well done up to now, I think whatever happens at Goodison you'll blow it at Palace anyways ha.

I think both clubs have done brilliant this season. Full on football and have us all dreaming.
Goodluck for your renaming games, but if you guys beat city you'll be my hero's for a day for sure, just the one mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the Manc, is that how far you've fallen, just hoping we don't win the league?, you and Howie have lots in common, two small teams who will win nothing cowering in our shadow. LOVE IT ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha truly pathetic. And a Manc accusing us of being the worst fans, laughable!

Agree0 Disagree0

Who are these mancs and bluenoses roaming about this site? Pathetic fans who revel in other team`s setbacks to hide their frustration at their teams` dire situations. Pathetic, really. As for the village person from the blue swamp, nobody cares what some of your stupid fans think about your result against City because thankfully fans don`t play games, players do. Roberto Martinez and the players want to beat City because that`s what they are paid to do and I`d be lying if I said I won`t be rooting for them provided we beat Palace next monday.

Agree0 Disagree0

It must have been a long wait, about 4 months, until we lost a PL game, to come here and post that, mancs and bluenoses having a rare happy day.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hahah united a small team? Biggest team in England by far and you know it! You can't even win the premiership in 20 odd years with all the money spent, it's a joke. Your clubs a total joke, oh hang on, you were good 30 years ago weren't u. Even Blackburn have won it, can't wait till u play in Europe next year see how u deal with 2 games a week! Lol. got to admit loved MOTD showing your coach arriving for the game with all the fans "were going to win the league" haha. Can't wait for palace to beat you Monday now

Agree0 Disagree0

As Howie said most bluenoses want champs league and don't care where we finish. However there are the bitter and ignorant ones who care more about where we are than there own team, sounds like you Howie! Me, I remember the days of merseyside going head to head for the title and domestic cups and would welcome those days back. Then again I am a Liverpool fan and not a bitter and twisted excuse for a blue nose! Why do mancs spend so much time commenting on LFC? Its beyond me. TBH I couldn't care less what you have to say. I stopped listening to manc WUM's years ago!

Rodgers Out! ;-)

Still all to play for just a shame about Stevie's slip before half time. Maureen's "tactical masterclass" of playing as he called it, 19th century football just about worked and good enough for them. Hopefully our friends across the park can take points off citeh.

Did anyone really think we'd win our last three games? When have ever known Liverpool to win something in a straight forward fashion!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dejavu stevies slip reminded me of the back pass he did against chelsea a few years gutted it had to be him but he won't take it lying down he will be trying to fire our boys onto glory in the next 2 games I still believe

Agree0 Disagree0

The slip wasn't the problem . Stevie didn't control a very simple ball, then he had to try and put it right, but if we look over the coarse of the season how many goals have we conceded by play square balls across our back line.that is the biggest problem with our defence, and I have to say Mr rodgers is to blame for that .

Agree0 Disagree0

If Brendan is to blame for the square passing, I guess he is also to blame for the 90-odd goals we have scored?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you 100%

Agree0 Disagree0

King, even at this stage, you`re still looking for some one to blame for the loss. Pathetic!

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed how man city break down packed defences? They lob the ball over the heads of resolute defenders which completely breaks down tgeir disciplined defensive wall. There are at least 3 players who do this regularly for city, toure, nasri and aguero.
It is a very simple way of breaking defences down. We need to adapt for these stubborn defences. Hats of to mourinho, I hate his tactics but they beat us fair.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cityy didn't break down chelsea either mate but stiil proud of the lads with the difference in money between the teams weer not doing too bad.
just need to win our last two games and see how things pan out.

Agree0 Disagree0

They couldn't do it to chelsea though could they? The reason we lost today was because we didn't counter mourinho's tactics which where to sit back and counter (play for a draw), which is exactly what we should have done. That's one thing, but then when none of the big players decide to show up, then it's a recipe for disaster. Hat was a heavyweight match and we where KO in the 6th round. Hopefully, BR learns from this.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kman, imagine if we sat back like Chelsea, actually I can't imagine what would happen, 2 teams not wanting to make a move. We are where we are (top) by playing to our strengths and going for teams and smashing them all at Anfield (Southampton apart). Hindsight us a wonderful thing, if Rodgers changed the way we have played and come unstuck he wouid have got slaughtered, so let's just accept it wasn't our day and hope we ave a bit of luck with other results.

Well the last 2 games for me made me realise how important hendo is to us. I knew he was good, but didn't realise just how important he was to the team.
On another note lucas just isn't a replacement for hendo. Not slating him, just an observervation. We have no1 to cover when hendo is out.
Allen though I am impressed with, if he works on the attacking side of his game I think he'll become a great all round midfield player
The future is bright!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lucas is the worst replacement for Henderson because they are different players.
I am not slating him either because I think he is important to the squad and team, but Henderson is mobile and quick, where as Lucas is slow.
Lucas ideally would play the Gerrard role because he doesn't have the energy to play on the side of a diamond or a high pressing advanced midfield role.

Agree0 Disagree0

Allen was the replacement "legs" of henderson

I still feel as though we're in with a shout. Man City have to go to Goodison and with Everton's recent form, I wouldn't be surprised if city drop points. It's going right to the wire and I still feel as though we can win it. though our fate now lays in Everton's hands. If they can take even a point from that match.

Gerrard looked as though he was on a 1 man mission to end our title hopes today. But let's face its, he's Gerrard, He is allowed a bad game at some point. Just wish it wasn't today.

What a difference a game makes. eh.?

Hope we don't dwell on this defeat as if it was the end of the season and pull together for what will surely be a tough match at Selhurst Park next week.

Whatever the outcome, this season, we have achieved our no.1 target of Champions League Football, we have looked, by far, the most dangerous team in the league and. AND. We have the best player on the planet, even if he wasn't on it today.

Have to say, this has been the best Premier League season I have witnessed by a country mile and I can't wait to hear YNWA at Anfield on Tuesday and Wednesday nights again next season.

YNWA! RT96

Believable0 Unbelievable0

City's next match is the game they're most likely to drop points in if Everton turn up. That match is before ours. If they drop points in that, the momentum and motivation will be with us again.

I'm not really sure what to say. Mourinho is a genius. I think Chelsea are only the 2nd team this season to keep a clean sheet against us. Chelsea defended excellently and we run out of ideas by the second half; Schwazer played brilliantly too. Please stop complaining about how Chelsea played, it just goes to show what a great manager he is, teams who have come to Anfield to attack have been annihilated (Arsenal et al.). I feel like we've thrown away the league but still need to remind myself that we're 2 points ahead of Chelsea and 9 (soon to be 6) in front of city with 1 more game played. It's still more than doable as City have to goto Goodison. BRING ON PALACE.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think that Everton have ran out of steam at this point as 2 defeats in their last 3 has proven.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea played how I expected them to play. I certainly wasnt surprised in any way. Did nobody watch their game against Athletico? It was up to Liverpool to break them down. They didnt! Simple.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree. Just wish it wasn't Stevie's error that cost us. He has been such an ambassador for the club, and this title would mean so much to him and Liverpool. He seems to have a knack for mistakes in big games vs. Chelsea. As soon as Ba scored, 99% of fans knew it was over.

I really hope Everton rise to the occasion and stump City, but looking at how they playing vs. Crystal Palace, I suspect they will steamroll the Toffees.

Heads up though. Has been a great ride, and looks like it could come down to the last game.

Coop

Agree0 Disagree0

We are only 6 ahead of Citeh, soon to be 3 with an extra game played.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's been a great ride, enjoyed this season so much and I'm not hopping off. Palace 0-7 and 9-0 v Newcastle to pip City to the title on GD!

Agree0 Disagree0

We were only forced to break them down due to an unfortunate slip by Stevie, otherwise we could have claimed a draw and kept it in our hands, as it is we still need to win our next 2 and pray.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure throwing 9 men behind the ball and time wasting from the fgirst minute can be classed as "genius". When Pulis did it he was ripped endlessly by managers, fans and the media alike for the negativity of his football - Mourinho does it and its genius. Way too many people up his backside.

Agree0 Disagree0

Re: my cockup on the maths, I apologise as my brain wasn't working earlier.

For the record: I have not; nor will I ever slag off Tony Pulis' Stoke. I really admired the way he approached the game. He was honest with himself and realised they didn't have the quality to go toe to toe with most of the teams & compensated with organisation & physicality which worked. Mourinho came to the same realisation & decided to defend, fair play.

Agree0 Disagree0

That`s not defending nor defensive tactics. That is a simple refusal to play and compete. That is a team, recognizing that it cannot rival its opponent (despite having more talented players), decides to not play by refusing to come out of its shell and hope for a slip up from the other team. I don`t know a football term for this but it certainly is not defensive football.

Just heard two blokes talking and one guy reckons jose mourinho should be a valet for national express because he's great at parking a bus . well it made me chuckle

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Apr 2014 17:22:25
On another note. Maybe the people who talked about bus parades and having the title wrapped up will pipe down in future.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's what I was thinking. Even some pundits saying things like it's a question of when not if. I hate things like that I'm just gutted.

Agree0 Disagree0

You do realise that what people say, write or think actually has no bearing at all on a football match? Just thought I'd point that out. Seems to be lost on some people.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that words have no affect on the outcome of a football match, totally, though I felt embarrassed watching Hansen on Football Focus saying it was all over. I swear he'd been drinking!

Agree0 Disagree0

What people said on here about the parade and the likes didn't make SG slip mate.
what about the fans singing were going to win the league, should they have not sang those words.

Agree0 Disagree0

No they shouldn't be singing those songs. It was pre mature and daft in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can't exactly sing that song if you have already won the league, and I think why not, you shouldn't be afraid of what other fans think of us we can enjoy it.
People get too superstitious about football but I have smashed all my old jinx's this year so I know we can't alter what's goes on on a football pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

In all fairness I think it was me smashing a mirror this morning. I guess that's another 7 years we won't win the league.

Much was said and many hopes dented today but we are only bruised and not beaten, in such times it is difficult to offer congrats to the many rich blue's fans with the spoilt one in charge but they had a game-plan and I am afraid it worked in the worst possible way! I knew the game would be intense today but I never believed we would lose the match! Many of our boys were apprehensive and out of sorts but they did feel the pressure today and Moron-io out witted everyone once more! I write this as City are once again made the bookies favourites and are currently cruising 0-2 but despite the disappointment we will definitely have one more chance to put it to bed and if not then I must congratulate the whole team and Brendan for getting us this opportunity 11 winning games and unbeaten for 16 in the league until today at this point of the season and one defeat and we are no longer favourites to take the title. That tells you just how difficult it is to win nowadays! Money goes to money as we all know but we have shown the passion, spirit and still played breath-taking football this season with a team/group of players that even I doubted! Still in front and just need another wind to get us over the line! Keep believing Reds we are still top tonight and still have a few punches left! YNWA

Whether you finish 1st 2nd or even 3rd what a fantastic season this has been for you, still very much favourites for the PL title after 36 games?

I am as I'm sure many others are very very envious of how of your season, chin up lads

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would suggest city are now strong favourites

Agree0 Disagree0

City are overwhelming favourites now. They will be ruthless in their last few games.

Agree0 Disagree0

His point was after 36 games we were title favorites; and he would've loved to have been in that position. City are obviously favorites now. i'm gutted that Gerrard of all people was the one to cost us that game with a slip; but I'm not giving up yet, and am going to b. happy with whatever result we get from here out.

Agree0 Disagree0

3 must win games or 2 must win games, why would you chose the hardest option.
Liverpool have the points on the board and are still favorites, check out the bookies

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks gunner62 after sulking for a few hours iv come to the conclusion we are favourites city dropped points against sunderland can quite easy happen again but even if it doesn't we have done amazing and better than i'd ever imagined and its been the most enjoyable football we have played for at least 20 years so i'm not going to be to downbeat we can still do this its hard but not impossible

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the comments and optimism Gunner. I think things would have been very different for you guys if Ramsey and Walcott had not been injured.

It's a tough loss today and 4th would have been brilliant prior to the loss but to be so close to the title. gutting! Not over yet but hard to see City losing nw

27 Apr 2014 16:36:59
Okay, I write this holding back tears and feeling dead inside at the knowledge city have just scored. We have been outsmarted by the arrogant one, as I suggested would likely be the case.

The man clearly had no intention, and never has, of playing the game as it is meant to be played. I don't think that game had anything to do with us. Chelsea defended to perfection. Sadly, that's all they did well, didn't even counter attack well at all. Our good luck caught up with us eventually.

But, we're still in this. 14 games in a row was always going to be a huge ask. Its our job, as supporters, to still believe we can do this. As they say, the greater the nerves, the bigger the glory. This was never going to be plain sailing.

That atrocious game of football, has, for me at least, taken off the burden of worrying when our run is going to come to an end. All we can do is stay humble and believe that, at the end of this week, we will fight tooth and nail with palace, and won't let this lead we have worked so hard for slip without a fight.

We go again, win, lose or draw.

DARE TO DREAM!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jose is not capable of playing good football as we knew would be the case. I didn't like how he instructed Chelsea to play like rugby players from the opening whistle to break up play. At least we never responded by retaliating and losing more key players for the final stretch.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reminded me of Red Star Belgrade v Marseille, European Cup Final 1991 - anti-football at it's finest.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm just glad I'm not a Chelsea fan after that! Fair enough, we were not at our best, but I've never witnessed such a negative approach to a game than Chelsea today. Time wasting from the first minute, no intention of attacking, purely there to annoy and frustrate. Sadly, it seemed to affect us today, we allowed it to get to us and we paid the price. It's not over yet boys, fight to the death.

Agree0 Disagree0

Proud of the team no matter what, just hate it had to be chelsea to beat us

Agree0 Disagree0

If that's what you have to play like to win then you're welcome to it. Life's too short for dirge like that. Proud of the boys.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you really slating mourinho tactics that's taken 6pts off u this season! Think you need to look at your own boss if he can't break down such dreadful tatics and as a chelsea fan I don't care how we win as long as we do.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pinky "don't care how we win as long as we win". Your team just played 97 minutes of disgraceful, negative, pure- anti-football football. Call him what you like, Mourinho ruins the beautiful game. Would he be successful without millions of pounds to spend every year? hmm.

Come on Reds. We go again and play football the right way until the end of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pinky your manager is a disgrace to the game and a despicable person. The 'do anything to win' mantra is only something a chelsea fan could concoct, not even united fans are that bad. Its called the beautiful game for a reason, mourinho is the antichrist of it. How you play that way having spent millions upon millions on some of the best players in world football and still play like that, it was by a country mile the worst and most unfair game of football I've ever witnessed.

Your so called 'second team' was, as expected, still better than just about every team in the league bar city. I bet you chelsea fans were grasping the knife when an academy kid was given the go ahead, extremely impressive might I add. 'Oh no, he didn't cost 50 million pounds, what are we to do?!'. Meanwhile, our team with iago aspas and the 'chelsea reject' were still going at it like a bull in a china shop.

Jose may get you results, he may love your plastic club, but I don't think any fan in the world would let him manage their club, apart from chelsea fans who are too personic to realise that winning and spending uncopius amounts of money isn't enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2014 16:34:46
Proud of our boys. If we were going to lose, I rather we went down with guns ablaze, unlike the opposition's parking bus tactics. Credit to Gerrard, Coutinho, Sakho and Allen. The difference in quality between both sides was clear - we had to use the same 11 due to injuries while they fielded 8 - 9 internationals. So, congratulations to our boys for fighting to the end; congratulations to the opposition for their 'performance'

Believable0 Unbelievable0

100% behind the team. Credit to them all. let's hope there is a good amount to invest in the team to keep building on what we have & keep improving.
YNWA.

Agree0 Disagree0

Their 'performance' included constant time wasting, which was never punished by the ref. How ironic that their 2 goals were scored deep in injury time caused by Chelsea's gamesmanship.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lame excuse singred, chelsea came with a game plan and executed it to perfection.we were so naïve and played directly into their hands I know you wouldn't care if we did the same at stamford bridge and got the result we wanted.
Its out of our hands now we have to hope city drop points

Agree0 Disagree0

Both teams went onto the pitch to do a job! They did theirs! We didn't! They left with the three points end of… .stop the bleating lfc will come again!

Agree0 Disagree0

JP, the game highlighted the difference in quality between the 2 sides. The onus is on us to break down defensive teams, and that's why I agree 100% with Canadian that with better players, we wouldn't have to worry about these small teams employing such tactics.
By the way, Rodgers will never play defensive football.

Agree0 Disagree0

You've had a weeks rest and practically played your best team.
We played 3 from our best team, including a first start for our centre back.

We have no Cech, Terry, Luiz, Oscar, Hazard, or Eto'o in the squad.
You did not have 1 clear opportunity, just accept Rodgers was completely out-done and move on. Your still favourites in my eyes

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Rodgers was outdone. Chelsea's tactics are Palace/Stoke with better players. We witnessed the same turgid gameplay in Madrid and it'll be the same midweek and Chelsea might even win the CL again with these tactics. Good luck to you. We didn't break you down but your win was less about tactics and more about gamesmanship, time wasting and massed defence. Disciplined, successful too, but neither entertaining nor sophisticated.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but you had:

Matic
Willian
Shurrle
Salah
Torres

All in the squad and probably cost more than our combined squad.

Just accept Mourinho is a fancy Sam Allardyce or Tony Pulis.

Agree0 Disagree0

QJ, the team your boss put out today had 8 internationals and 4 more on the bench. Your team is expected to beat our weaker squad of youngsters. I hope you have the same fortune against Athletico, because it only takes an away goal to send you guys packing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Q.Jordan

give sam allerdyce the same funds and he would give you guys the same football

Agree0 Disagree0

Did your team not have 10 internationals? And I'd hardly call it a team of youngsters, sterling and flanagan are the only ones, while we had salah and Kalas.

And jay it doesn't matter the cost of the player. We all know how bad torres is so I woudnt say having him in our squad meant we should win.

You use the money excuse every time, it's getting a bit boring.

Agree0 Disagree0

The cost of the individual players doesn't matter but the overall spend on the squad does.

Mourinho plays defensive, long ball football with numerous attacking players in his squad.

He will never change as he can't win any other way.

If he speds ANOTHER £100 million in the summer and buys a striker, do you really think that would have changed his game plan for today?

Agree0 Disagree0

We didn't play defensively against you in the reverse fixture and still won.

Mourinho adapts his tactics to suit each game, Rodgers didnt.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2014 16:33:50
Credit to Chelsea, they defended well. Massively boring game though. If all matches were played liked that I don't think anyone would bother watching.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fortunately we chelsea fans are more loyal. Ill watch no matter how bad it is

Agree0 Disagree0

3 years of this and Roman will be dusting off his vision to play with style and win admirers again. Whatever happened to that plan?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we'll be more expansive next season. It's tough when your best player is out, and you want to rest players for a more important tie in midweek. We still created the better opportunities. Defence is as much a part of football as attack so I'd say we outplayed you

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Apr 2014 19:39:43
Q, stop being so defensive (in more than one sense of the word).

Obviously (and I use the term obviously to let you know I'm aware most of us here get this but you're a trolling person who likely needs this pointed out), you feel the need to justify how your lot played. Justifications presuppose the lack of the rational, ergo we have your rationale.

Please contribute to banter in the purest understanding of the word instead of being churlish.

If I have come across as patronizing (and I'm sure that I do), know I intended to because to patronize you means to speak down to you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bahhaahaha, are you seriously suggesting chelsea fans are more loyal than those of Liverpool? i'm not even going to speak my mind, you know god damn well why chavski have such a large fan base. You know there will always be glory, just throw money and unbeatable yet shameful tactics at the problem and you will win. At least we have pride in our team. At least we have A TEAM, rather than mercenaries.

Agree0 Disagree0

My initial reaction was that he didn't have the confidence to score in that position himself lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed, I still believe we will win it, Man City still have to play Everton and Villa who both need results, regardless of whether we win it or not though Rodgers has been a revelation to our club, working on a much lower budget than his peers, much credit must be given to Rodgers, his staff and the owners for what they've achieved in the last 2 seasons.

Mourinhos tactics outsmarting rodgers edd001. Cmonnn Liverpool

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Based on Tony Pulis methodology. I hope that if we don't win it then Chelsea don't.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to say I don't believe Mourinho's tactics won it. They parked the bus & defended very well. But is that tactical mastery? I don't think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a difficult one, everybody knows about parking the bus, it's not a revolutionary tactic, any manager could easily set up their team to never concede. It's anti-football at it's finest but it's a winner. What tactics can beat an effectively parked bus? What frustrates me is that we didn't need to win today, we just couldn't lose. Brendan is a very good tactician, and it' was absolutely guaranteed that Jose was going to play all his players in the penalty area because he knows our attack is much better than his. I just feel that we could have gone out with a plan b today. It's not Brendan's nature to not play for the win but at this crucial stage in the season he needs to be more careful. Mourinho however. What an absolute hypocrite. Wasn't it not that long ago that West Ham did exactly the same thing before he whined about his team being the only team playing football? Gutted with the loss, out of our hands now. Let's see how the rest of the season unfolds.

Agree0 Disagree0

-A mistake decided the game. No slip in first half injury time no goal at the end as we push for an equaliser. If there's a team you don't want to be 1-nil down to its Chelsea. They defend better than any other team in England (and probably Europe).

Wrong time to concede a goal, its going to be really difficult to get a result now

Surely if you're deemed fit enough for the bench you are fit enough to start. Must be tactical by Rodgers, I have faith.

Come on red men!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would say it's definitely tactical. Prior to his injury Sturridge was not in great form. I am also not too sure who would be dropped in place of him. On the bright side, it is a nice option to have from the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah it's a nice option to have sturridge on the bench getting beat 0-1

Agree0 Disagree0

Today was never the game for him. It is not the ideal situation for the player when an opposition defends in vast numbers so deep. He, like the rest of the team, however, have had a great season and we should still believe.

Suso scores for Almeria as they win 2-1 against espanyol. espanyol were 1-0 up at ht but had a player sent off early in the second half. Almeria scored 2 goals in 3 mins to claim the win, with Espanyol's bad day being capped off with another red in stoppage time.

As a rational man with a cool head, this past few weeks have tested my non-belief in all things superstitious. I find myself thinking back to previous matches, trying to remember what I was wearing, what I had for breakfast and which side of the street I walked down when we won. I'm even dreaming about upcoming games now (we beat Chelsea 2-1 in my dream last night, but we were playing with a huge, oversized 'fun' ball. ) come on boys, show me that my walk down the left hand side of the road in my red shoes after eating a banana for breakfast isn't in vain.
On a separate note, this year has been extra special as I became a full time carer for my father, the man who introduced me to the beauty of Liverpool football club as a child, we have spent many a joyous afternoon this year watching us rise to the top. I can honestly say it's been very special for lots of reasons.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thanks Captain, you have reminded me just how lucky I am to be part of this fantastic Liverpool Family.

This is the first season my laddie has really taken an interest in the team and I have enjoyed some superb time with him too.

Brendan and the boys have made us proud again this year. Win lose or draw the last 2 games, we are back where we belong.

Hope you and your dad enjoy many more seasons watching us challenge.with hope in your heart.

Good morning Eds and best wishes to all my fellow Reds! What a massive day it is for us all today! The result this afternoon will just nail home what we have all wanted to believe and have witnessed in the positive transformation of our club in such a significant year! Brendan Rodgers and his team have brought back the drive, playing style and belief to our club that had been missing for a long time now! Hopefully in the next two weeks this will also bring a much deserved and missing Premier League title back to Anfield and well before any of us thought it was even possible! Our role today is to help push the boys over the next hurdle and give them the voice, confidence and the support that we have all contributed so far this season, particularly today when the doubt creeps in against Chelsea or when lady luck goes the other way as it so often does in these tense matches! Mourinho has shown so often this season and throughout his career that he lacks empathy, humility and class when under pressure and unlike one of his mentors in the great Sir Bobby Robson who was a gentleman until the end! He will set his team up to be physical, defend from the outset and look to get us embroiled in a stop start wrestling match with intimidation, diving and complaining and will target Sterling and Luis in the process he will gesticulating as a conductor from the touchline to influence the referee but it will all be in vain. BR undoubtedly learnt much from Mourinho but gladly has his own positive football philosophy and all out attacking playing style and individual confidence to overwhelm the financially complacent West end bully boys and take the three points and this in turn will break City's hearts down at Palace! We have the right to dream, we have the faith to believe and we have the passion to come out victorious, onwards and forwards YNWA

No matter what starting eleven Chelsea have out its going to be incredibly difficult to beat, no matter people think of Mourinho he has the ability to set a side up to totally kill a game of football then grind out a 1-0 win. Against Atletico they effectively played four holding mid's and to be fair it worked. The interesting scenario is Chelsea could approach the game like they did against City.

This will be the game where we will see if Suarez has changed or is still the fool, there is no doubt Mourinho will have picked a couple of players to push Suarez to his limits, weather it be verbal, body checks or childish pinching like the good old Italian defenders used to do. Its up to Luis to rise above it and do his damage in the right way.

Anyway enough about the opposition we should all be talking about Liverpool, no matter what happens today or between now and the end of the season this campaign has been a fantastic success that no one saw coming. I thought a title push was two or three seasons away.

Hi

24 years ago I watched my first son born and then left country same day to seek work on continent. Then couldn't get back because of bad weather and had to ask hospital to keep wife and son in for extra few days until I got back. It was 5 days before I visited again - even the nurses wouldn't speak to me. Still married and going done pub soon to watch with same son.
Feel free to use this as evidence that you are not that bad

I know it's not transfer related, but I'll ask you guys, if anyone can remember. How highly was Gerrard rated, when he was in the youth setup compared to Rossiter? Was Gerrard consideret a much bigger talent than Rossiter is now?

Thanks in advance!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - about the same really. Hard to say because the overall quality was so much lower in Gerrard's day so he stood out like a sore thumb.}

Just want to put to bed that we are top of the league because we have been lucky this season with injuries.
Below is the list of injuries/suspensions LFC have had this season.

Enrique 24 weeks
Johnson 9 weeks
Sturridge 9 weeks
Sakho 8 weeks
Suarez 5 weeks
Courtinho 5 weeks
Lucas 5 weeks
Allan 5 weeks
Flanagan 5 weeks
Agger 5 weeks
Cissokho 5 weeks
Aspas 5 weeks
Gerrard 4 weeks
Toure 1 weeks
Henderson 1 week (and 2 further to complete his suspension)

With a sparse squad to begin with those are pretty tough in one season.
It seems an odd argument that we have been lucky this campaign with our injuries!

Ok boys and girls, honesty time.

I've had a lucky outfit that I've written for the last 9 games, nothing to do with the club just the same every week, didn't want to mention it on here through fear of jinxing it. today I can't find the jumper. I've turned the house over twice already with no luck, can't find it anywhere, what do I do?

A) wear the rest of the outfit and Hollie for the best
B) wear something completely different
C) run to the shop to re purchase the said jumper and hope the magic is in the new one

Cheers all

11pm kick-off here in Eastern Australia. For the first time ever I won't be watching at home on the lounge with a beer. Have found a club showing the game and am going with a fellow red to have a beer and watch. Woke the kids up last week watching Norwich, not tonight. Enjoy everybody!

I'm predicting another close match today.
Like last week, there is always some aspect of fate trying to trip us up. Last week Norwich had a new manager. This week it's Schwarzer. You can almost guarantee he will have a blinder because everyone expects him to be rubbish.
I'm going for a 2-2 draw.

Hello guys and gals
Not what U wanna hear but oh well life is full of disappointments

Chelsea will bring a good team
To anfield and they will counter attack
They still have good players and Liverpool are still crap at the back

1-1 is the best Liverpool can get from this game as I do t think u have enough to score more past this defence as they do cope easily with the way Liverpool play, which is not full of crosses.

Still lots to play for the title isn't there yet

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Looking for a wall of sound today doing our bit for the lads. Let's show the football world again that we are the best supporters in the world. Let's be the 12th and 13th man today. Why is it when I am due to go to work time flies. Its hours till the footie starts and its really dragging!

Well excited about todays match. I expect Maureen to turn up with a strong squad despite what he says! The match itself is going to be tough, I expect they will do their utmost to stifle any play and creativity on the pitch. Saying that we have the players and the momentum to take them apart. My real concern is our 'you might score, but we will score more attitude'. Its worked for us so far but the chavs are a different proposition! They have a great defence that will be difficult to unlock. Due to our style of play we leave ourselves a bit open at times and they could take advantage! It will be a boost to have the Studge back from injury, and I reckon Suarez will be well up for this. Dare to dream. We go again! YNWA

Liverpool have beaten Manchester United to the signature of Southampton and England midfielder Adam Lallana, 25.

Full story: Sunday People

Anything in this?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would love it, if it happens. Long ago I stopped believing newspapers and journos. He would give us something extra if he joins us but, again I would not get my hopes up yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement between Liverpool and Southampton for Lallana and he has not signed anything.}

Not according to Southampton.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the board learned not to splash immense amounts of money on one (or more) player(s), from the season where Carroll, Downing and Hendo was bought. There comes certain expectations with that price tag, and Carroll and Downing never lived up to it, despite they where playing great at their former clubs. Hendo is starting to show why he was bought, but he can never be counted as a bargain. Same with Allen, he was a great player at Swansea, but the pricetag seems to have some influence on his game. I also think that is the reason why rodgers bought Aspas and Alberto, they had the potential to be great, and even if they didn´t perform, people wouldn´t get upset because their low pricetag.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed you seem to suggest that lallana is a genuine possibility. Where do you think he will be playing next season

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, that is not what I said.}

Honestly I hope he stays at st. Mary's. Hope he turns out to be the saint's very own Stevie Gerrard. He's their one shining light and I would not take him away from them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds, do we have some interest in him though?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Lallana would attract interest if available but they have no intention of selling.}

27 Apr 2014 13:02:41
Is there any substance to the report Ed02? Have we spoken to Southampton. his agent. or the player himself?
There are other reports saying he will not join Manchester United because of uncertainty there and no CL football. Same with Shaw.
If you have any inside knowledge would be great if you would share it!

vrcomp
Y.N.W.A.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not spoken to the club and has not made any offer to the club. If Liverpool has spoken with the player without the permission of his club then that would be tapping up and I don't think the club would be that stupid. They may well have enquired with his agent as to his availability and willingness to move.}
