""great job from Rodolfo and the academy.they deserve lots of credit, keep up the great job with our young lads, ynwa"

We should have sold the croc , for me good money for someone so injury prone is a no brainer , i know he is a great player , but thats when he is fit , i cant remember him playing a full season for us , thats costing us

26 Sep 2012 23:30:12
Suso - wow. What a wonderful player he will turn out to be, he's fearless, with skill and pace. Not ignoring many of our other young players who were superb tonight, but he impresses me so much every time he plays. Really hope Shelvey being out will give him some more chances. Hope he is still with us 5 years time.

26 Sep 2012 23:27:07
Wow that suso reminds me of a very young iniesta. Can someone make sure that he gets a big long contract as if we let him go we will never win the league

26 Sep 2012 23:25:38
Asaidi, Suarez, Raheem
Gerrard, Sahin , Allen

back up by Suso attack attack attack

26 Sep 2012 23:04:59
Have to say excellent play by the youngsters tonight. Pacheco was everywhere, Assaidi (okay, maybe not a youngster, but still...) was absolute class, Suso was great, Yesil's movement and effort were fantastic, Robinson was a revelation (he should really be in front of Enrique in my opinion), Sahin was a boss, Henderson, Coates, Wisdom- all very good!

Favorite part was Carra darn near killing himself tracking back Lukaku- outstanding effort and, although he's not at his peak anymore, he still has a role to play this year and I'm glad we have him.

Would love to see a front three of Assaidi, Suarez, and Sterling. Talk about a defensive nightmare for anyone to deal with...

That all said- biggest shout of the night has to go to the traveling fans! Amazing stuff all game and I'm almost positive it was your support that put us over the top on the night.

Carragher has a new role to play in guiding our younger players. His experience is valuable.

Fully agree. He was great tonight

cozinoz

Maybe the carra and gerrard bashing can stop now and people will realise how valuable their experience is.

Mulumbu's tackle? honestly how he didnt get booked for that is beyond me, not even a yellow! then he gets a yellow a few minutes later for an elbow so technically he shudda been off.
Tackle was far worse than jonjo's.

And then for wisdom to get booked after that for one of the cleanest tackles in the game.. some decisions are seriously a joke

Seriously that was a bad call with malumbu, reason why ref didnt do anything is because hendo just got up as shelv did instead of rolling around like most (evans) ridiculous the lads just get up and just get on with it and because of that refs have done nothing

Absolutely agree with this - have to say the ref's are now way beyond a joke .
I saw at least THREE perfect tackles by Liverpool players tonight ( Wisdom's was one of 'em) and shouldn't even have been called fouls ! For Wisdom to get a yellow -especially after the West Brom lad 's "tackle" on Henderson was nothing short of a scandal .
Worse thing is - as the ref played on i just knew when he went back to mulumbu he wasn't gonna do anything .
Getting so bad i really don't expect anything of ref's for us anymore .

Jones - 6, started off very shaky but managed to rub himself off and start again and didn't do too badly from there on.

Wisdom - 7, really impressed with how composed he seems to be on the ball. Can see him being a top quality right back for a few years and then he can replace Agger because I see a lot of his qualities in Wisdom.

Coates - 8, was a real rock at the back today. I thought he dealt with Lukaku as much as he could without much help from Jamie.

Carragher - 5, think he is slow and weak but he is also great at telling people what to do. Showed today that he can still do 90 minutes but he isn't that same defender he was 3 years ago.

Robinson - 7, really good at defending and he's also a lot stronger than he looks. Very good technically and if Enrique doesn't pick up his game then he's going to be pushed out of the team by Jack

Henderson - 7, showed that he can also play that Allen role when necessary and if he keeps playing like he is doing then he's going to be a very fine player when he's a bit older. I really loved the passion he showed today.

Sahin - 9, absolutely dominant today. He didn't really look fit in the previous fixtures but now he does. He ran the show and mixed long passes with killer through balls with short one-two's. His first goal was a keeper error but at least someone is shooting. His second was great positioning, something Liverpool midfielders need to be better at - running into the box on a cross.

Pacheco - 7, really surprised me today as I didn't think he'd be very good in that midfield but he actually was. He made a few decent tackles and also created a lot of opportunities and some shots that on another day [or in another team] would have gone in.

Downing - 5, not very impressed with Downing but I guess that is what should be expected now. He is quite good at getting wide and making space but he just isn't an attacking threat. He plays more like a right midfielder rather than a right forward which doesn't work that well in Rodger's system.

Yesil - 6, I like his movement a lot but he doesn't look strong enough to be a solo-striker in the premier league. A few more months pumping some iron and he will be ready. He isn't afraid to shoot and take players on so he has the technical ability but he needs to work on his physical side.

Assaidi - 8, very good winger and he has offered us something we haven't had for bleeding ages. He is someone who can take a player on at pace and he showed today that he is willing to defend for the team too. I think he was our best attacking threat of the night and will be in the first team shortly.

Suso - //, came on and almost immediately set the goal up. He is going to be fantastic for Liverpool and the thought that he can play either centre midfield or on the wing is something that proves he is very technically sound.

Sinclair - //, made a fantastic run across Suso to give him space for the second goal and at 16 he looks a very confident player and knows how to play that striker role. I believe he will be very important for Liverpool in the coming years.

Overall - 8/10

BthekingB {Ed049's Note - Almost perfect although 5 is a bit harsh on Carra.}

Not bad, but agree with the Ed, 5 for Carra is a bit harsh. He didn't do too badly tonight and expect him to start against Norwich, although I'd rather see Coates, more of a goal threat sadly than our vice captain.

Suso is really showing what he can do and overall a good performance, especially after going a goal down. Thoughts are with Brad, who thinks he's got a broken nose! He's looking more confident as each game comes. Hope he'll be OK for the Swansea match.

Keith

Agreed with most comments.
Downing running out of chances to show he can be a part of the team .....

Aye. Fair shout that. Carra was worthy of a 6.5 I thought. He knows his limitations and so do the other players. Have to say though that after the early mistake, Jones went on to play the best game I've seen him have so far. Could he be the competition Pepe needs?

Hi everyone and eds well done today to all that played they played some nice football again but we at last ended up with a win. Let's hope this form now will be spilled into the first team and luck will be on our side. We should now start to climb the table and tackle our position because it is becoming a problem.

wouldn't want to have been in the west brom dressing room tonight. They got dressed down by kids without facial hair.

Suso's got a better beard than me dude and I'm 39 (today actually).

26 Sep 2012 22:35:24
Well done Brendan Rogers, our young players have played well again.

26 Sep 2012 22:34:52
Jones 8/10 One mistake and couple of really good saves too
Wisdom 8/10 played very well and got forward too
Coates 8/10 solid performance some great tackles
Carra 8/10 got skint once solid after. Great leader
Robinson 9/10. nervy start but just a natural footballer
Downing 5/10 had 1 good 5-10 min patch in 1st half. Nothing apart from that. Needs to copy the kids and be fearless
Hendo: 8/10 steady as ever. linked well with Sahin. Workhorse. A few wayward long passes.
Sahin: 9/10 bossed the midfield for long spells. Quality is obvious. Needs more conditioning.
Assaidi: 9/10 great game from the lad. Attacked his man at every opportunity. supplied some quality ball and got an assist for the winner.
Yesil 8/10 ran his socks off. unlucky a couple of times he didn't get the rub of the green. Future star in the making. Looks quality.
Pacheco: 8/10 Best game in a LFC shirt. Worked hard, tracked back and nearly scored.
Suso 8/10 quality quality quality quality. kid may have it all.
Sinclair: 8/10 just for been brought on at 16yrs and 6 days.

Overall team display 9/10. Shaky first 10 minutes but grew and grew into the game. You can clearly see the BR game plan taking hold with each game played. There's a lot to be excited about.

Brendan Rodgers: 10/10 for sticking with your plan and blooding the kids too. Playing some beautiful football. The results will come.

Travelling Kop: 20/10. Outstanding job. That's how to support our team.

Chi-Paul

Most of the lads had good individual games.. but link up together still has to improve abit, and mistakes need to be ended, we;ve conceded by individual mistakes too much this season, and it cud have came back to haunt us had sahin not been in goalscoring form.
But a good nights work

Watched the game on the t'interweb and all I could here was the Liverpool fans, just awesome support from the traveling fans tonight.

Ali, London

Stop giving Downing rubbish marks for sake of it. A five is carryin a player and more or less playin a man light. No way could we go to the Hawthorns and do that as was shown back in August. Was a good team performance and Downing was a part of it like him or not.

I think what we saw today was that we are trying to build with a foundation. When you have a young, inexpensive team it allows you to be more surgical in terms of picking the right players. Last year we tried to slap a coat of paint on a house whose foundation was cracked. We brought in a bunch of guys who were all expected to jump right into the first team right away and make everything ok: Downing, Adam, Henderson, Enrique. Did any of these work out? Henderson is still young so there is time but the other 3 range from bad to worse.

This year we brought in younger, more long term players. A couple are expected to play right away like Allen, Sahin and Borini but Yesil and Assaidi are long term propositions. And we've seen these guys could all turn into very good players. Sahin has already stated that he would make his move here permanent. Potentially with Sahin, Allen, Lucas and Shelvey all being 25 and under we have the core of a really strong 3 man midfield for quite a while.

Our issue as has been the case recently is up front. We have Suarez, but outside of that its a whole lot of unproven guys. But between Sterling, Suso, Borini, Assaidi, Yesil there is quality. Will all of those guys turn into star players? No, but there is a good chance a couple of them may.

Would it have been nice to bring in a proven forward this year? Ofcourse, but the right deal wasn't out there. It's far better to be patient and find the right player rather than just bring in the guy who happens to be availible.

Great post mate

Assaidi is not a long term project in any way whatsoever. H is 24, had a good game against west brom, n is definitely good enough to start in our 1st team. I think his ability to take on full backs at every opportunity is something we have been lacking for some time.
Indian Buzzer {Ed063's Note - Well he's got at least 6 good years in him - I'd say thats fairly long term}

Hi guys,
I'm in real split minds at the moment about L'pool. On one hand you have the disappointment at the league performance, but on the other we have probably the best crop of youngsters coming through that I ever remember. I know there was a time we had Caragher, Gerrard and Owen coming through, but we have about 7 quality players on the brink now.
Everyone raves about Sterling (and he is excellent) but I am even more excited about Suso. He is going to be a £30m player in 3 years. Then there is Shelvey. Ok he was a bit of a plank against Man U but that kid was simply average the past couple of seasons. Look at him this season! Henderson was always meant to be Gerrard's replacement, but I think it's Shelvey has decided it's his for the taking. He will be playing for England regularly in a few years.
Then there is Wisdom, Assaidi, Coates, Sahin. Those 4 are all playing well enough to be in the 1st 11.

This season has started tough, but if we take it as our training year we have so much promise for the future and I really believe in those young players more than any for as long as I remember.

We've had good youngster for years we just haven't had a manager brave enough to play them. GED {Ed063's Note - No mate, the young players have been too young to play in the first team. Where as now they are all now verging on 18 so can be blooded into the first team.}

Think the statement about hendo and shelv is bang on, i wonder what sterling would be like if over the years he was developed in a sort of messi role. just a thought, not directly comparing the players by anymeans but hes very pacey, go past players, if he develops his passing and shooting over the next 3 years.Think it would be interesting to see {Ed063's Note - His shooting lets him down a bit at the moment, when it comes to shooting from outside the box anyway. But he is young and will only get better}

How many comps are there? The league, 2 domestic cups and 2 Euro cups. Do you know how many teams are competing for them? Not calling you dim or anything but you have to be realistic and acknowledge that winning trophies (yes, the same ones everyone else wants) is almost always achieved against the odds...you don't see Norwich, WBA, Stoke just pack it all in cos they don't see any silverware coming soon. Winning stuff is great...let's face it, WE ARE LFC and if anyone knows what winning is like it's us, the big society. BUT...and it's an important but, there are other ways of measuring success. Don't worry about the table, just watch the progress of the club, the team, the players....the rest will fall into place on it's own.

Well done BR for having faith in the kids.So far he has played them in the cup games and they have a no fear approach .

i think a lot of the praise goes to the Rudolfo and pep and the rest of the staff who deal with the youth players.

Assiadi looks like a brilliant signing and if him and stirling get a game together, you could see full backs being pegged back and CB coming across to suport leaving gaps in the middle.

Sahin was excellent real honest performance , it is like he is a LFC player rather then on loan.To all those that are quick to criticise Henderson his work rate is top class and if played in his role he always excels.

We are quick to knock our team and we should now enjoy this performance .if today LFC are not a top 4 team then in 2-3 years with proper guidance and coaching these youngsters will make the core of the team and honestly see us being a force again .

An earlier post said Rodgers team selection was a joke and if they lost he should be sacked! I bet he feels a total t-t now.

I read that post too mate bet that guy feels like a right kn*b right now. Well done lads assaidi, Sahin and Coates for Norwich please!

Probably not - he's clearly a t-t all the time so nothing new being wrong tonight

Lol! 1 in the eye for the trolls tonight!

Love the fact that person is changed to person! Makes me chuckle! Good result tonight for our young lads, didn't get to watch, hopefully will see it on LFC tv tomo :-)

What is changed to person? Is it gobrubbishe?

Len

Couldn't resist sorry ed's. {Ed063's Note - It is chupacabra. As soon as someone mentions that word our filters pick them up and change them.}

Chupacabra was the downfall of Shaun Goater in my opinion.

Anyone who comes on this site have seen/read what we all thought of our kids. They just needed a chance to show their talents. Not getting carried away but we are not top of our U-21 league table for nothing. Maybe us not getting more players in the summer. Could be a blessing in disguise.

Rodolfo Borrell is doing a fantastic job.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Well said Blair mate. I was thinking the same thing myself when the camera went to the kids on the bench during the match. I really hope we can win the next round against Swansea with the kids and get an extended run in this cup.

Oh yes. Our greatest learning opportunities often arrive disguised as our worst nightmare.

Lets have the future now
Big round of applause for BR tonight the kids this season have kicked the backside of the first team regulars
Yessil looks so much better than Borini no surprise then, Assaidi confirmed what the videos of him suggested a right handful, Robinson and Wisdom should be first teamers now Sahin is class. Apart from his howler Jones looks better than Reina on current form and Suso and Pacheco both did well.Coates was a rock
My team for next premier league match

Jones
Wisdom Coates Skrtyl Robinson

Assaidi Allen Sahin

Suarez Yessil Sterling

Subs Suso, Henderson,Reina,Carragher,Pacheco

Missed Gerrard off the subs !

No Johnson & No Gerrard, ???
My team for next game
Reina
Johnson Coates Skertel Robinson
Gerrard Allen Assaidi
Suso Suarez Sterling

Haha.am sure ur joking

I agree with in the most part but Jones always looks nervy to me and then it seems to spread to the defenders. Reina is still an excellent keeper though admittedly has been under par for a bit. And after seeing Hugo Loris for Spurs I'm a little jealous as he looks excellent. Honestly though Gulasci could be decent but Rogers wants a keeper who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and maybe this is why Jones is ahead of him. Anyway, well done today to all the young lads, keep it going. And I'll say again thanks Rafa and Rodolfo and Pep for the kids who are beginning to do us proud.

Id go with
Jones
wisdom coates skrtel robinson

Henderson Gerrard Sahin

Sterling Suarez Assaidi

Subs: Reina, Carra, Johnson, Allen, Enrique, Yesil, Suso

Nah come on get allen back in and use Hendo in Europa week after. Would even be tempted to use Suso infront of sahin as he looks better going forward. Reina still needs to be in net for me.

26 Sep 2012 22:18:13
The kids are alright.
I am not a fan of Rodgers.
But to have faith in the kids ?
Well perhaps he has been forced to do it.
It will be interesting.
Bring back Carroll !
Forget about systems and play football.

Well done to Benitez, Dalglish, McParland, Borrell, and Segura, we have some extremely talented kids. Suso moves like a Barca player.

27 Sep 2012 00:02:14
Should give Rodgers credit for giving them the chance why didn't Kenny do that if he had so much faith in them apart from sterling?

I think we all expected more from kenny than we do off brendan , we accept our situation now and that gives brendan a chance as all we want from brendan is for the team to win, kenny had to get in the top 4.red mick tag

26 Sep 2012 22:13:55
No offence but im just wondering if jay spearing was watching that game and if he was does he really believe that he has a future at liverpool.

Dont think he does anymore

26 Sep 2012 22:11:52
ha ,thats a put that in ur pipe and smoke it from b rogers to all the naysayers who sneak on the site, the futures good the futures red ,well done brendan that was a mega display from the young lads, you its such a breath of fresh air to a club whos stagnated for the last few years,at last we have another king with a pair of balls.ynwa peace to the 96.

Lets start winning where it matters in the pl then we will see

26 Sep 2012 22:11:09
BR knows what he is doing, Assaidi is a steal at 3mil, we should play him and sterling on the wings, Sahin fits better in this more attacking role, expected more from downing today after his performance against young boys. I wouldnt find he we ar 8-9 in the league this season. BR is doing the right thing by giving youngster chances, the future looks good if u ask me.

26 Sep 2012 22:09:28
i see a lot of david silva in our young suso!
balaji

True and maybe a little of Gerrard too, especially with the way he came on and went for it. How many times do you hear Gerrard has taken the game by the scruff of it's neck?

Keith

I think he's a bit more direct. Also comes deep more.

26 Sep 2012 22:09:23
entertaining game, great winner from Sahin.

Is it time to play the kids every week? Joke but it is looking good for future and we rested Sterling.

Pleased for Robinson could be time to give him a run at left back.

I applaud BR for giving all the youth players a chance, I bet the atmosphere in squad is electric now.

Henderson could become our defensive midfield cover. Sahin looked class, Jones in goal looked confident, Wisdom looks a powerhouse but Downing fails to impress still.

We are improving evey week.

Steve068

Classic downing, always count on him being below par

26 Sep 2012 22:06:47
Sahin looks like such a dictator on the pitch. He is a true leader. Assaidi really has blown me away however i shoudnt be surprised as he has 5 star skills in fifa lol. Robinson looked nervous at the start but really settled well and a great game. Coates and Wisdom were both really good too. Suso is something special! Pacheco is starting to look like the player we once thought he could be. Henderson wasnt spectacular but everything he did had an air of authority about it and he has grown in the last couple of games.

The negatives is that downing is never going to be a liverpool player. Yesil is also too light but that isnt major as im sure he will beef up and develop into some player.

Pep Guardiola looks like he was spot on about our acedemy.

What did guardiola say about our academy?

2nd best after Barca's I believe.

Keith

Just to confirm, assaidi does have 5 star skills in fifa, top perfomance from the lads tonight, got a very bright future, our youngsters are quality, other teams dont have the same youth quality as there teams ages and fails to replace the seniors(scholes to name one) our lads will just grow into quality players having gained 1st team experience at such an age, having such a small squad may be a blessing in disguise for future seasons, yes its hard now but it wasnt likely to get top 4 this year, but in 3 years after another 3 seasons a lot of our youngsters will be world class

26 Sep 2012 22:06:00
What an awesome performance from Rodgers rookies! MOTM Sahin - pure class, what a signing! Special mention to Assaidi, Wisdom and Carra. We have a very special group of stars in the making! Singred

26 Sep 2012 22:05:14
also like to say, look what happened when we took shots!
Once you gets shots on target u have a chance, foster looked shakey all night, never knew when a shot was coming. At the end of the day the more shots u get on target, the better chance u have of getting a goal, regardless whether or not the shots are outstanding

26 Sep 2012 22:04:11
well done the team tonight unable to watch the match at work but following on bbc sport. i have a suggestion that all posters have to supply a posting name that way regular fans can follow a poster and see if their opinions change. ray 3037

Good shout but wouldn't that make it into a standard forum where ppl would have to sign up?

Fine by me...and yes, my opinion changes all the time mate so I'm cool with that. Football is, after all, an emotional game.

I don't mind distancing myself from my own old ideas...especially when I've outgrown them or learned more about the subject. Clinging to old opinions is a serious waste of the human brain. You wouldn't want to end up in a situation where you have to defend a belief that you no longer have....that's crazy talk.

However, it would be nice to see exactly which people are coming around to a new way of thinking.

Len

26 Sep 2012 22:02:01
Sahin is class and Assaidi looks quality too but I was impressed by Coates, and Suso is going to be some player. I also think Pacheco showed he can have a future at LFC. Overall it was an outstanding performance given we were playing with very young players. We really must support BR. I believe he's going to make history. His technical nous and excellent communication skills remind me of Arrigo Sacchi. Remember him!

26 Sep 2012 22:01:58
Nice to hear Rodgers name being sung

26 Sep 2012 22:01:34
A lot of positives to be taken out of the game tonight. The performance, the kids, Nuri Sahin looking sharper every game etc, etc...and the result of course.

I never questioned Suso he's class iv being he's biggest fan on this site for over a year now along with Sterling.

Well played

what a drop of the shoulder suso has! awesome talent

26 Sep 2012 21:58:40
the dearest player on the field (downing) was by far the worst, assaidi cost a fraction of what downing did and he looked very good.
Pacheco ran around alot, and henderson + sahin looked quite a gud combination

Henderson is a shadow of the player Shelvey is

I rather shelvey aswell, but u clearly have no idea about football if u think henderson isnt a "shadow" on shelvey

Comparing Shelvey to Henderson is apples and oranges.

26 Sep 2012 21:57:55
Im ready to say it. its taken me almost a year to build up the courage to say it....im ready.

Drop reina for jones. why?
1. Jones gets off his line quick and doesnt stay on it like a lemon.
2. hes alot taller, comes and claims/punches.
3. hes actually decent with his feet and plays the short passes.
4. he actualy DIVES for shots instead of sliding hopelessley on his knees.
5. i feel more confident with him in goal, and so will the players.
6. has the greatest hair that never moves.

I welcome abuse, but im right. great performance from the boys, in br i trust. night!

Benny baller

There is no doubt Pepe is a top keeper, however i do feel he has become a little complacent. Despite mistakes he is never dropped for the League games, perhaps a stint on the bench might put some fire in his belly.

ChrisE

PS Where the hell is Doni?

Do u mean in bj you trust?
huddz red

I know what you're saying, but Jones doesn't command the box like Pepe and is not remotely decent with his feet. Reina is a far superior goalie even at the minute

You've forgot one major thing. He is not a good enough goalkeeper and he knows it.

Great all round game especially considering the age of the team. Stand-outs for me were Sahin, Assaidi and Carra although everyone played well. Well done lads

Seriously lads....This lot minus downing, add Sterling and Gerro, Reina etc etc and our future looks very very bright, give this man time because with Suso, Sterling, Wisdom, Yesil, Robinson etc we'll be back within 2 years Henderson looks like a real prospect now too doing all the right things in the right position......Im convinced now, lets give this manager time to get it settled
Excited for the first time in ages, very very proud.

Holy sh*t guys, our reserves are brilliant. Controlled the game almost from start to finish, fantastic, way better than our so-called senior players.

26 Sep 2012 21:55:28
Well done LFC kids ;) that goal will win any game, excellent game, good times ahead LFC fans.

Barca-esque...lovely stuff. Rodgers will be very pleased with that goal as it's exactly what he wants from his team in the last 1/3. Maybe some of the seniors will grow a pair and actually stick to his system now.

26 Sep 2012 21:14:35
Yesil, Assaidi, Robinson and Pacheco playing really well. Downing poor as usual.

Ive read many posts all praising the likes of assaidi, suso and sahin, and all point out how poor downing is haha

26 Sep 2012 21:12:27
Assaidi proving to be a defenders nightmare so far. hope to see either suso/sinclair get a run out

Assaidi, Suarez, Raheem will be rocking 3

Sorry it's late but download skyfire from App Store then you can watch games through this app go to any website that's showing the game ie firstrowsports is good. I watch them on my iPhone so should work on iPad hope this helps

Hi James, what type of iPhone do you have? Sounds like a great idea, but this app has a lot of bad reviews saying that it doesn't work. Also comments about adds ruining viewing. Have you had any issues? Any help welcome as I don't want to pay two quid for a app that doesn't work. Thanks in advance.

Hey Guys I hope we win today so that we can get a chance to see what our youngsters can do. Right now they are giving a lesson of football to the westbrom team and that to away from home. Guys just grind the result so that after few weeks I can put on my Liverpool shirt and support you guys as well as enjoy.
Proud of you guys and well done BR

What a screamer by Nuri Sahin! He has shown the best midfield performance in these first 45 minutes that I have seen for a long long while. And add to this he is even showing great leadership qualities! Great performance by our fullbacks and assaidi as well!

26 Sep 2012 20:57:32
Watching the game tonight, Assaidi looks good, Downing must be watching and thinking "so thats what I'm supposed to do!"
Bad error by Jones, shouldn't have come for the ball. Youngsters look good, Robinson definitely looks better than Enrique (shaky first five mins like the rest of the team)
Pacheco has impressed, mainly work rate, and willing to track back and tackle, hope he keeps this attitude up, along with the talent he's shown in the past, things could turn out well for him at LFC.

Cannot believe Mulumbu wasn't sent off, far worse than Shelvey's on Sunday.. Late, studs up, in Hendersons calf!

Not saying there's an agenda against Liverpool, just seem to have got the person referees drawn for their games!

El Diablo!

26 Sep 2012 20:56:39
Irrespective of today's result, got to say that BR is showing he's a gutsy manager. The policy to play his best young talent will pay off...and for those of you who don't remember...the all-conquering AC Milan had a 17 year old in their top 11. Paolo Maldini.

26 Sep 2012 20:55:55
I have to say with 11 changes from last match we looked fine.. Yesil needs time but showing glimspe of what he can do..Assiadi is good give him more time and let him settled and he will create loads...By far Jamie is showing his ages is poor and has been targeted by Lukuku and other albion players... Downing is just waste of space so far...Poor pass by Henderson led to Goal and boy Ref is well determined to do Liverpool over..

Harry Oldbury

He was gutted when he missed that header..took him a while to get over it but he's young and his movement is really good.

26 Sep 2012 20:54:53
Sahin is running the show right now. Cannot wait for him to get to full fitness. I like Pacheco's role alot more today where he can drop deep to get the ball. Yesil is playing well. Wisdom is doing great and Assaidi is what we are missing. He has trickery and ever time he get the ball he just puts his head down and runs at defenders none of this fing about letting the defense get set.

26 Sep 2012 20:51:40
how to f**k was that tackle on henderson not a straight red, why is there not a equal playing feild for liverpool. it was a shocking tackle but he gets away with a slap on the wrist? its glaringly shocking the way refs are with us compared to the united. YNWA the boys are doing the club justice and im loving life under BR. YNWA justice for the 96

Scottybhoy1888

I think henderson actually saved him from a red by not rolling round and screaming like girl like a certain mr evans...
Rickblfc...

I'm embarrassed for evans, and he comes from just round the corner from me. I know his family and most of them are liverpool fans!

Shelv and hendo get up becoz they are not faking pussies and the refs do nothing... shocking

26 Sep 2012 20:51:17
Not a bad first half! Assaidi looks the business and I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing him more often.

Wisdom was unlucky to be booked, I thought he got enough of the ball in that challenge.

Unfortunately Downing to me looks like he just isn't good enough at all. As a player who has always been able to deliver a decent ball into the box, he has again failed to do so while Assaidi seems to be able to dance past his player and send in a ball for fun!

We're definitely looking the more dangerous team and it seems as if the young lads are again making me eat my words about squad rotation (which isn't a bad thing!)

Canadian Red

Growing together!

2nd half just as good if not better! Jordan Henderson gave his best performance in a liverpool top in my opinion and I really think that he has a part to play in our central midfield positions this season!

Suso coming on showed his class immediately! Wisdom looked great in defence and in possession and Assaidi was unplayable. Young Yesil was a handful Pacheco looked the part for most of the game.

Of course Sahin will draw the plaudits and good for him because he put in a great performance! He seems to be getting used to the speed of the English game quickly which is great news for us and his two goals were thoroughly deserved!

Only downside to me was Downing who didn't seem to care really.

Fantastic performance and more importantly result!

26 Sep 2012 20:50:37
It seems so wierd to think that assaidi has impressed me in half a game of football more than downing has in his liverpool career...its nice to see we've got another winger aswell as sterling that actually moves forward past a man...downing stands there and either loses the ball or passes backwards...are youngsters are doing well for themselves though.

KingMiz

26 Sep 2012 20:50:33
Anyone who watched that first half against WBA and didn't recognise the green shoots coming through knows nothing about football.

26 Sep 2012 20:48:51
Anyone else watching this? Mulambu assaults Henderson and gets a warning, Wisdom goes in for a 50/50 and nicks the player get a yellow. Then Yesil gets fouled edge of box but manages to stay on his feet, nothing given. Ball goes down the other end and ref gives a soft free kick for backing in. WTF is it with refs and Liverpool.

ChrisE

26 Sep 2012 20:47:17
happy how we are playing assaidi looks something special sahin playing well.i believe all off us can see that downing is a terrible player.
are playing him to sell because we should play ibe or another youngster.

26 Sep 2012 20:46:35
how did Maloumbu not get a red card for that challenge, not even yellow, shelvey did get a red for a less serious challenge... such bad refereing yet again. whats up with that...

26 Sep 2012 20:44:00
Sahin class tonight

26 Sep 2012 20:43:50
Mulumbu should be off....but cause hendo didnt roll around on the floor like a baby, nothing given.

Loving coates at the minute, and assaidi. Also robinson doing well. Downing is the most boring player ive ever seen.......

Should get the win fingers crossed.

26 Sep 2012 20:19:43
Haha only if we had that little bit of luck in the premier league not that I'm not chuffed well down sahin! We been playing decent again!

26 Sep 2012 20:15:14
Very very young squad tonight so people shouldn't take it too hard if the result doesn't go our way, hopefully Robinson takes his chance. WBA aren't going to be push overs and these young lads are going to have to work hard to get anything. I have a feeling there's going to be goals tonight, fingers crossed for Liverpool.

Remember the league is the priority the cups are a bonus.

Carragher just ran as fast as Lukaku. Not skill but pure attitude. Made me hapoy seeing that!

26 Sep 2012 20:07:14
Got a bad feeling about tonight's game, it's obvious from BR team selection that he's not taking this game seriously..

Wizards sleeve.

Hmm ... i bet you feel really stupid ?

26 Sep 2012 19:37:00
This may sound daft but is Andre Wisdom highly rated by the club? someone who could replace JC

If he's being picked, he obviously is.

The fact that he has started 2 of the last 3 games, really says it all to be honest....have a look at what BR said about him last week, very highly rated mate - just a case of when and not if that he got a first team chance, much like suso.....

Watched him in the under 21s at palace a few weeks back.Quick, strong, intelligent player.Nice lad as my boy had his picture done with him along with some of the others.

26 Sep 2012 19:28:29
I've supported the team and club long enough to know that the answer to our problems ISNT sacking the manager every time we get a run of bad results.
The problem is that there'sno patience around when things go wrong, and also memories are short.
It's fine to say when we finished 2nd a couple of seasons ago we should have pushed on and, yes, maybe we should've, but by then Hicks & Gillet had ensured we were royally screwed and, in time, Benitez's efforts that season might well be looked back and seen as miraculous, particularly as he took on ferguson as well! Rogers HAS to be given time, anyone regularly watching the 1st and reserve teams etc can see there's a way of playing that he's trying to invoke across the various teams we have and thats allowing the likes of Suso, Sterling etc to come in and look reasonably comfortable in the 1st team, thus far. Similarly, redeveloping Anfield, as now appears to be the preferred option from FSG, will take time. What this means is that we all have to remain patient and keep supporting the lads and the Manager. Rogers isn't an person, i'm sure of that, but we might have to put up with a couple of years in midtable before we will see a sustained challenge, and while we might not like that, it's because of the previous shysters and their behaviour and not those in charge now that this could happen.
I look at us now and I see Man Utd in the 70's and 80's, when they might beat us, but we'd go on and win the league each year, and they'd swap managers every 2 years in a vain attempt to try and catch us, with the odd cup thrown in. They stopped that by sticking with Ferguson when things got tough and he restructured the playing staff from the kids through to the 1st team and they took off.
There's always lessons to be learned from history, maybe we should look 30 miles up the Lancs to learn ours.
Keep the Faith Redmen.

I don't think anybody is asking for Rodgers to be sacked. I don't think any fan sees a problem in Rodgers. The problem lies in the owners. They messed up in this transfer window and now we are paying for it. So please put these comments about Rodgers to bed. Nobody wants him sacked, nobody blames him.

Fan for32 years bloody good post

Agreed George graham did similar at arsenal got rid of the journeymen tony woodcock,Paul mariner etc & brought in Merson Adams rocastle Michael Thomas etc young hungry players who worked hard think our style of football will be better but a similar ethos......c'mon young reds!jft96

Whatever's said about BR, he certainly is giving the fans their wish over playing young players. Everyone had feelings that Sterling would play this year, but to trust a 17 year old to play top games week in week out is a rare thing, one Kenny, Roy or even Rafa would never have made.

Suso is is another that was always likely to play some part this year. But what is great about BR is that he rewarding a promising performance in the Europa league with a place on the bench against United, ultimately giving the lad 45 minutes of football he won't forget anytime soon, despite the result. That's encouraging for a few reasons, most notably that it gives young players hope that if they perform they can have a genuine shot at making the first team squad regularly. It also shows that Rodgers respects the performance despite the opponents, as to be fair to Young Boys game was comedy gold in terms of defending, a much different proposition on paper to United (perhaps not so different they way they played).

He's also giving Yesil (who has serious talent) an opportunity tonight, after a short period of time. Giving opportunities to Wisdom, Robinson an others but perhaps also realising that some like Wilson perhaps won't make the grade. He'll trust younger players if they have he potential, over older ones with more experience, which is rare indeed.

I'm very pro BR and really want him to suceed. For me he's doing most things right, without the goal scorer he wanted/warranted/deserved. Our performances will grow in stature with time and the results will hopefully come sooner rather than later. It'll be a long road, but given the youth we have BR is the perfect man for the long term project. Just trust and repect the man, as he seems to genuinely love the role he's given as well as the club, its supporters, players etc. He wants to do his upmost to put LFC back at the top and I for think he might in the long term.

Papa G

I totally agree, i love the fact he's playing the youngsters. it's a brave move, could ruin games, but is so so important. the kids need more than the occasional 10 minutes in a lost game.
btw, i always enjoy reading your posts, papa g!

BR's teamsheet looks like a joke he should be sacked if we carry on loosing.

And if whoever comes in loses a few matches, should they be sacked? Then their replacement does the same - do they have to go?

Do you have any real understanding of football and what's needed at the club at the moment?

I don't think it's possible for me to disagree with this post more.

I feel more excited looking at that team than any other second string for as long as I can remember. It may be 90% weighted with potential but, WHAT potential!

Mrpjd

You do realise what cup this is don't you?

Your a plank
Tommy.

So you think all our talented young players, who would be the envy of any other team, are a joke? This is the sort of 'support' we could do without. No wonder you didn't leave your name.

I am proud that we are able to field a team like this and m even prouder to have a brave manager like BR who is prepared to do so. People have been bleating on about managers not 'giving the kids a chance' for years and now we have one that; actually doing so some of you are still not happy!

If everyone can get behind BR and the lads in a few years time we'll have a team of seasoned professionals with an average of about 21, and that can only be a good thing. -SH-

How is that a joke ? he is giving the youth players a chance..someone at least needs to give them a chance..

Ive seen out team for tonight and im more than happy that the young guns are getting another shot at the big time. Im not expecting to win really. Just a good performance so that the youngsters can gain confidence and push on. Im really looking forward to seeing Yesil and hopefully Assaidi can show some of his magic. I said last night that im not hopeful and im still not but you never know. Good luck boys. Heres hoping!

2 words - Borrusia Dortmund

They intergrated all thier top talent over 3-4 years, low and behold champions 2 years in a row - still with an average age of probably 24.

I don't think we have premier league class players in all positions in our reserves, however the few special ones can be nurtured over the forthcoming seasons and hopefully turn into good players.

Why is Morgan not getting into the match squad? He has travelled to Young Boys and then tonight West Brom but doesnt even make the bench. Strange when he was looking like the one who was going to breakthrough.

Because he was shown to be out of his depth...michael ngoo should be in there

Could be featuring in the first team at the weekend...

Huws

Perhaps he's just not ready. Sinclair despite his tender age, does seem to have something special where Morgan seems a little safe. I know that sounds harsh but our academy really is booming with talent and some may struggle to cut it.

Papa G

Out of his depth.... Get real. He played 60 minuted against Hearts on the right of a front 3. He is a striker, should have played through the middle. Would you have said the same about Gerrard after his debut. Did you see Ngoo name on scoresheet for reserves and want to sound intelligient. Championship manager fan.

Yesil and michael ngoo are a lot better

Premier league comes first always

You lot seriously make me sick. Youve been desperate for yonks for a manager to play the kids and as soon as he does you looking to point the finger and lay the blame if we get beat. Your an absolute joke. What if we win? Will you post an apology or will you say he got lucky? Bunch of jokers!

Because the youth are giving west brom a better run for there money that the senior squad did. Maybe he doesnt fancy the premier league and letting the senior players play.

Not a rumour, but a thankyou.

Thankyou to all of the Ed's, Macca and all of the proper supporters on this site. Thankyou to the Ed's and Macca for giving us information that we normally wouldn't be able to find, spending their time on this site to assist others, and providing a quality service to us Liverpool fans. Thankyou for putting up with some persons, and still remaining keen to carry on giving us information and opinions that are highly valued. The work you do gives me, and I assume a large majority of others great satisfaction and excitement about our glorious football club. I for one trust what you'se say, and know so many things can change in a second. It's understandable when things don't go the way you'se expected, were humans and this is life. But overall, I spend every day on here, and I feel the internet is a better place for us Liverpool fans with this site.

So thankyou Ed's and Macca, and thankyou proper supporters for your opinions and realism, and support for our football club.

Agree with Macca...I also have a good feeling about Rodgers...I think that our style of football is better than it ever was..pass move the liverpool way but by also blooding are talented youngsters who are going to drive our club forward...i just hope to god that FSG give BR a chance and dip into the account even for 1 window to give BR the type of quality players he needs such as ISCO, Prolific Goalscorer and few others etc. like they did for King Kenny.

He speaks well, hes passionate and the series Being Liverpool really gives us diehards a real insight what goes on in the club day to day..We are heading in the right direction so as Shankley once said..We area community of family and friends so lets all join together and make shur BR never walks alone

What a sad situation we find ourselves in, 3 and a half years ago we were 2nd really looking like a team who could maybe even should have finished 1st in the premier league. Now we go to WBA in the league cup as holders with little if any expectation of winning. Given recent results it's hard to be confident of victory against anyone and the future may get worst. Store it gets better. Should we exit the cup tonight and lose to Norwich at the weekend will we be seeing the final breathes of a once mighty footballing giant?
I have been watching Liverpool since 1977 and have rarely if ever felt that the club was no longer one of the elite but the next couple of matches could really compound our bad start and will take an almighty turn around to salvage anything from a season that promised so much in June but failed to get off the ground in August and took a nose dive in September when the transfer window closed.
Gone are the days signing the best players and maybe even the second best players will look else where before opting for Anfield.
A new manager before 2013 is not what anyone wants but how low do you go before your forced into making a change. If BR is still manager on new years day it will be a good thing as it will mean there has been a change for the better in our results. If our form remains the same then I would not be shocked to see Harry Redknapp at Anfield as our new manager.

Rodgers will come good. It will take 2 seasons and you are just going to have to accept it. If we replace him, it will still take his replacement at least 2 years so you will achieve nothing. You can see the improvement in style. We are one player - a clinical finisher, away from being a real force. We have a wealth of young players coming up (and indeed already in the first team squad) and thankfully they have all been coached in Rodgers favoured style for up to 2 years already. Rodgers has to bridge the ending of Gerrard and Carragher with the rising of Shelvey, Sterling etc. He will build his team in his image and will grow with it. RED LENIN

Harry redknapp at our club after defending hicks & gillet putting the knife into at the behest of his friend saf not very likely

I hope jerome sinclair is involved tonight.Lad is quality and way better than most his age.I think within the next year he will be pushing for a 1st team place.Even though we've seen sterling, suso and wisdom, there's even more talent ready to make the step up,sinclair, jordan ibe,Ryan McLaughlin,Joao Carlos Teixeira,Alex O'Hanlon, michael ngoo,Stephen Sama the list goes on.Years of hard work at the Academy are starting to pay off. It's says a lot when pep guardiola says are youth setup is the only one that comes close to the amazing barcelona setup.Clubs like man city and chelsea have thrown huge resources at their academies, but they dont come even close to ours!..

Think it is the way we have to go & the classic Liverpool way to boot, teach them the philosophy while their young & open to new ideas & think Brendan is the man to take this forward....
Paisley's genius

If Pep say's that then I hope we can see the results and we don't get rid of any of the coaching/management that make it that good!

All the complaining on here is a joke, Liverpool fans need to be realistic and accept we aren't up there with the likes of city, utd, Chelsea, arsenal etc.....we can give them all a good one off game but we are no longer a top 4 club and haven't been for the last few years, I get my hopes up as much you lot at the start of the season but then we get let down, we need to accept we are just a midtable team at this moment in time, just coz our name is Liverpool doesn't earn us the right to Finnish near or at the top, we're not the team we once were and when you lot accept it then we can start being more realistic and build from there...... Now the owners and management have done a good job over the last two n a half years in clearing out the overaged players n deadwood apart from one or two more, ok we over spent on Afew players that summer but we can learn from it, the owners are learning and have a long term plan for our club , we have a small squad with the foundations of a good team for the future..... A bright more sustainable future, we have a good young manager n with time will make his mark, Rodgers and the owners just need all fans to be patient and in time we will be back up there challenging again, they have a plan and are just in phase one of it....as the old saying goes, Rome wasn't built in a day! Just look at how long it took man utd to get to where they are now? And they are reaping the rewards.....so please everyone just back the team, manager and the owners and I promise you we will be the ones having the last laugh in time ....... YNWA..... What is brendon rodgers opinion of danny wilson? Will he be given a chance or is he likely to be sold in january or the summer?

I'd like him to be given a chance but I'm not sure if Rodgers likes him enough to give him a go, I do rate him but not sure he will make the cut at anfield.....

Kelly being injured for most of the year, is terrible news. But this is a great opportunity to bring Andre Wisdom or Sama into the 1st team squad. Really looking forward to the game tonight, we have some great potential talents within our club.

I was born when we had our 1st real golden generation of youth players becoming world class LFC players. I'm talking Fowler, McMannaman, Gerrard, Owen...

We are finally seeing our 2nd golden generation of players coming through, its not just hope it is really happening now. Suso, Sterling, Wisdom, Sinclair, Robinson...

I'm glad we didn't get strikers in on deadline day, as we now realise that our academy is too good to ignore. It will take time, but the joy for me is watching the growth and development, and I'll love it.

If our 2nd golden generation can become anywhere near as good as the 1st, we'll be challenging soon don't you worry.
RC

Agree with most of that, although I would have liked a replacement for the outgoing Carroll, even if it was Dempsey. The youngsters' time will come when they are ready and if that's now, so be it.

Keith

I'm really exited to, I'd be more then happy to finish 8 th again asking as that means giving the youngsters game time ready for next year, suso and sterling are a different class and a lot of the others are good as well we look like we have a good foundation to go on and challenge with this team but it will take time and like u I'm looking forward to the development and gradually seeing the team get awesome!!!!

Before we get carried way, we need to remember we need a blend of youth and experience. look at Sundays game, several players over 25 but 5 under that age Kelly, Allen, Borini, Suso, Sterling.

IF we are always living in the future we'll always be chasing rainbows

Now is good and let the future look after itself

I think aggers injury will finally see coates being given a run of games. The lad is finally finding his feet in england, and i believe he's going to be a top top player for us.The lad is 6ft6 and offers a real goal threat from set pieces.Carra is a living ledgend but it's time to face facts,he's well past it.Coates is the future, lets's hope he starts tonight against west brom.

True about goal threat, Carra 6 from 700odd Coates 2 from 6

We have to win tonight just to help raise the morale of the team. Also they won 3-0 in the prem and its payback time. I want to see more of wisdom he reminds me of M Richards but with way more ability and he is much more composed.

We've been seriously starved of youngsters making the step up from the youth teams over the years,so how great is it to see sterling, suso, wisdom come through and impresse. If the rumours of young jerome sinclair being in the team to face west brom are true, just show's finally were getting it right at youth level.

Sterling and Suso are not products of the LFC academy.

How is sterling and suso not academy products? they both signed and joined the academy and worked through the U18 to the reserves and then first team.

Red Rout

He didn't say Academy, he said youth teams. Both Suso and Sterling were signed as youth players and have come thru our youth system. Youth scouting, U16, U18, U21, and Nextgen are all part of our youth development program in addition to the Academy.

hi,

i am sorry to be so critical, but lets check a fact about liverpool playing the big 4 teams.

The fact is 'We always play great against the big 4 teams' so I am not surprised that everybody was in great form against Man utd and City. It is the mid-table teams which deprive us of this tempo by playing their tactical game, and which bites us in the **** as we don't win against them, drop points and finish beyond the top 4.

Atm, I would only take 1 game at a time and hope we can be competing for the top 6 in january in order to signa class striker.

mgz

We Have a striker - his name is Andy Carroll !

Carroll is one of the reasons we are where we are a poor team

26 Sep 2012 16:00:43
To above poster why don't you say borini is only the reason we are not winning as his not scoring. As far as I know he was signed to score

26 Sep 2012 12:33:30
I'd really like to see young yesil given a chance in the cup against west brom. The kid is a goalscorer, and with all the chances we create,im sure he'd hit the back of the net.Im not sure if adam morgan is good enough, and before people start having a go about all the goals and how good he was at youth level, all i have to say is so was neil mellor!.We need goal's and with the transfer window being closed for the next few months,i think it's time to see what this young lad(yesil) can do.

I agree in most with what you say but a point on morgan. Young players who are either very fast or strong or have good dribbling shine quicker then a player who plays on instinct. When morgan gets older he will come into his own i believe.

just read that we should be getting rid of players again like hendo and downing, my problem is the squad is too thin now we need to add players it is a long season and although i fully back the manager playing the kids we have to protect them long time. never played football to any standard but have seen the players who are brought on too quickly constantly injured(Owen and a younger Gerrard) we want these kids to be the bedrock of our club for years and they will need some older players to bring them on and give them competition, that in my opinion makes a better side with no guarantee of playing unless you perform on the pitch. ray 3037

Burgess was full of praise for the professionalism shown by Luis Suarez during his time at Anfield.

"Luis Suarez's training intensity is unlike anything I've ever worked with in any code. He just cannot lose," he said.

"Sometimes, as a coach, you have to make up numbers in training, and this happened in the early days when he arrived, because he was serving a suspension from his days in Holland.

"He booted the hell out of me. I looked angrily at him, but he just gesticulated as if to say: 'When you are on the field, you are one of us!'"

From an article about Burgess leaving the club Reported on ESPN news or go to bleacher report liverpool and scroll down to read full interview.

Still its good to see coaches talking about comitment from our players.

I am not in the know, however I would expect that the owners feel somewhat embarrassed by the end of the last transfer window and the lack of a striker is clearly showing on the field. They have learnt and now appreciate that Rodgers judgements and requests in the summer were correct and they will, I am sure want to rectify this error very quickly and put things right so I would expect a strikers signature early in the next window

You all have to be honest here - Rodgers is giving the young players a chance. I know its because he has very few other options but to include Jerome Sinclair in the squad tonight would be massive boost to all the young players in the Academy!

Ive wanted the young players to get a chance since last season as I felt they had more to offer than the likes of Adam and Downing. I even believe that Robinson has more to offer than Enrique!

Speak about Downing - i think his days of playing regularly are numbered at LFC. Sterling and Assaidi offer more and they are still young!

The start to the season may not have been the one we wanted but seeing all these young players get first team time can only benefit later on in the season and in the future.

Good win tonight for the kids will really give the whole club a boost that we are doing things in the right way!

YNWA JFT96 jns

Would hope the youngsters doing well might give some of the senior players the kick up the backside that they need, to improve (Enrique, Downing), but I fear that they may just have to be moved on.. Despite the poor results and one or two poor performances, I am quite optimistic that the results will come, some players maybe need a bit more time to adjust!

26 Sep 2012 08:05:18
Mornings Eds, I've come across a list on the Liverpool forums which state that there are some quality players that could be available for a reasonable price in January due to contract expiration in 2013. I was just wondering if you'd heard of any interest in those following players.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
Lewis Holtby
Theo Walcott
Daniel Sturridge
Fernando Llorente
Moussa Sissoko
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa
Ryad Boudebouz
Yoan Gouffran
Keisuke Honda
Tomas Necid
Andriy Yarmolenko

I understand that it's only September and January is a long way away, but surely with targets being missed in the Summer, Rodgers and the LFC staff are already looking at adding to the squad in January, perhaps even tying up deals before the window opens so that we know what we have coming in, especially given the amount of games that are played in December and January.

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - No - you are clutching at straws.}

Evening eds and fellow reds...

I have a question for eds002...

With lfc not in top form, and if this continues, do you think BR will leave, and who do you think is his most suitable replacement?

Cheers, Jack {Ed002's Note - I would think his job is secure right now.}

I don't think you can play much better then we did against united taking away clinical finishing.. How can you say we're not in form?

We ARE in form...we're just not winning games. Whoever was responsible for not getting a striker during the window is more to blame for our losses than BR in my opinion.

cozinoz

The problem is most just focus on results, rather than performances. If we keep playing the way we are, it will click and we will win games. No doubt about it.

If you dont focus on results you wont get them!

Any truth in it Ed ?

Can someone please tell me how Ian Ayre is still in a job {Ed063's Note - Haha join the club!}

I will explain, everyone thinks it was because of ian ayre we didnt have enough money to buy a top striker, maybe you should looking at those owners fsg? If the money was there, we would have had a torres replacement by now, you see thats the only striker that needed a direct replacement not andy carroll that guy was holding us back with his half hearted displays and absolute donkey like touch. Some of you stil believe we will call him back in january, are you having a laugh? He use to make me cringe eveytime he tripped over his own boots, biggest waste of money in the history of football, thanks kenny. RedTurk {Ed063's Note - The owners made money available for a replacement though - 35 million pounds worth! And you go on about Carroll - who I agree would never have succeeded at Liverpool, but never mention Suarez who is the major reason why we consistently break down in the final third, with his incessant need to dribble straight into players turning the ball over. Oh and show a little respect for Kenny would you?}

I actually think Carroll could still be a success here, he started showing why we bought him at end of last season and we deffo need a plan b sometimes. Brendon's doesn't rate him and that's fine but I hope he comes back in jan and gets a few games to prove his worth
Huddz red {Ed063's Note - Fair enough mate}

26 Sep 2012 13:09:36
Suarez - despite being hugely talented, needs to sort his decison-making out. He doesn't seem to know when he should pass and when he should run at players. What he probably needs is one match where he scores a few and makes the final pass to others for a few. I seriously think he will be gone during next August along with Downing and Enrique as Rodgers builds more in his own style. RED LENIN

Hey fellow Reds,

I know recent results have been hard to swallow, and we all cringe while we search for our club's standing (especially if we start from Chelsea and search downwards)

I have also been a long time supporter, admittedly not as long as some of you. But I have experienced 8 managers perhaps?

It has been a long time since I have felt truly excited. You feel like a part of history in the making. You cannot explain it, but you know you are experiencing something truly special first hand.

We have seen what BR is trying to do here. In this age of quick fixes and immediate successes, he will be constantly judged by the media and others. I choose to believe in his work - not panicking in the face of so many setbacks, factual and objective, choosing to look at the positives, giving chances to youngsters, teaching the old dogs how to adapt to his style of play and slowly chipping away at the massive emotional baggage that comes with being a Liverpool manager.

Just because he sings all the right notes, doesn't make BR a wannabe or a fake. I feel he is a good decent person and I like to believe that good things happen to good people. That is what gives us hope in this wretched and twisted world we all live in.

Let the doubters doubt, let the others mock. When we see the fruits of our success, this tough journey will make it even sweeter..

DCsg

What a great post, I totally agree with you, and hopefully it will come true

Very good post. Given time and resources, BR will do a great job.

How anyone can doubt BR is beyond me.. Maybe its somehting to do with lack of intelligence or most likely just inherent doom-mongers

Tbh personally I'm not worried about the league position as we've been playing well and it will come we won't do well this season but with a striker winger an attacking mid in either jan or summer I think we will have a great squad maybe replace Reina, enrique etc.. Pep Guardiola Lauds Liverpool Academy

Pep Guardiola has issued a glowing review of the Liverpool youth system after holding an interview with Catalan Radio. The Barcelona coach has arguably the world's best academy at his disposal, with many regarding Arsenal's young guns as contenders.
However, Guardiola believes that it is Liverpool who have the only academy that can challenge his own - a sentiment that he was keen to share during a recent interview:
"The academy of the Liverpool is the only one that can compare to La Masia of Barcelona FC." he said.
The double winning coach then went on to state: "If Liverpool can manage those lads in the academy, then maybe 20 star players can arrive from that academy".
Rafa Benitez' marmite approach to football is one that still has the Anfield faithful split between those who laud his time at the club, and those who rejoiced at his exit. But the legacy that he left behind is testament to his managerial ability and vision for the club's future.
Thanks to his hard work, and that of Jose Segura and Rodolfo Borrell - both of whom were poached from the Barca ranks - as well as Frank McParland and Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool finally have an academy set-up which is envied the world over.

Plz give credit where its due. Shocking some fans say we should let Borrell go if Rogers deserve respect then Borrell deseves same respect after all its his hard work which Rogers enjoying. Shame on you fans

Can't find the source? Are you telling porkies? The fact of the matter is..borrell has done wonders YNWA

just reading that Shelvey has apologised in re ferguson incident for me this is not necessary fergie should not have approached him walking off or been able to hurry back baldy
avoo

I think it just shows Shelvey is becoming a mature professional and wants to be recognised solely for his football. People occasionally forget its a sport not a war and what happens on the pitch should stay on the pitch. I cant stand Fergie but there's no need to abuse the old man in a fit of anger because you've been sent off (unfairly).
A lot of Americans, Australians and fans of high-scoring games don't understand how the majority of the world is so passionate over games that end up one-nil or nil-nil. But those of us who have been brought up on the beautiful game enjoy the highs and lows of near-misses, saves, borderline offsides, hitting the woodwork, and even poor refereeing decisions. It isn't purely the goals that create results. All these close calls and fine-line decisions create anger, emotion, passion and debate amongst fans, pundits, players and managers but once the whistle has blown the decision cannot be changed. So do we write death wishes to the ref on twitter, glass each other in the pub and swear in anger at the other teams' manager? Or should we mope around the house while accepting the unfair nature of football and hope the next debatable refereeing decision goes in our favour.
Imo, Shelvey did the right thing in apologising. It the kind of character that Liverpool FC has been known for over the years and, in light of the recent bad publicity, it is an action that should be commended not attacked.
