Eds, will the Liverpool staff we aware of stats that you see threw around social media such as the fact that no player in the past 3 years has made as many direct mistakes leading to goals than Simon Mignolet, or that he has the lowest save percentage of any goalkeeper in 2017/ 18 and the 3rd lowest in 2016/ 17? Does these stats prove anything as I know your not a stat person.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - no, they are largely irrelevant- Klopp will continue to do what he thinks is best.}

26 Oct 2017 21:37:36
Personally don’t see how you can ignore such stats it’s all relative but in most walks of life your judged on results vs targets set and how you do compared vs your peers. Appreciate it’s different in football terms but there fairly damning stats.

26 Oct 2017 22:57:00
We don't need stats to see Migs isn't good at the moment.

27 Oct 2017 00:15:33
He’s a great lad Migs but an average keeper. No matter what the stats say that is the truth.

27 Oct 2017 08:44:07
The problem is with stats, and this is in all walks of life, you can find some stat to back up pretty much any opinion if you look hard enough. I am sure if I looked, I could find a few positive stats for Mignolet.

27 Oct 2017 09:25:20
Please do piffmunda, you will really struggle to do that i guarantee it mate, the only stat that will look good for him is his penalty saving stat that's about it.

His distribution is league 2 quality and i am being too fair to him on that one.
His shot stopping is appalling in anyway you look at it, his ratio of goals conceded to shots faced is among the lowest in europe's 5 top leagues.
His reactions to through balls (sweeper keeper) are nonexistent
His command of his area : NONEXISTENT
Organizing a defense and shouting orders: NONEXISTENT
His dealing with crosses: Flaps at almost everything and can't even box a ball away.
So his only 1 decent attribute is completely useless because we don't face that many penalties through a season, maybe 2-3!

27 Oct 2017 09:54:55
Piffmunda - that is true generally. Which tends to mean that when stats are so irrefutable there is no way to spin them to your advantage, it's a bad situation.

27 Oct 2017 22:27:51
Don’t worry. I was not defending him. I was trying to make the point that stats can be used to persuade away from truth in some cases, example, where someone pick 2 random stats out and all of a sudden that is considered proof to an argument/ opinion. I am sure that the stats will say Mignolet makes us a worth team overall but I am sure there are many cases where a player has had some poor stats / records but then has come good in a different system etc. Put Mignolet in a team which plays generally more defensive and his stats would be better, that is guaranteed.

26 Oct 2017 19:37:36
Ed 001 I see Keita 3 red cards in 7 games? Should we be worried? Hope to God he's not unreliable as he looks class player when he's not actually banned.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes, it does seem we need to be worried as his attitude has been an issue since the deal was agreed. He has had a few good games but he needs to sort his head out or he could turn into a liability.}

26 Oct 2017 20:12:51
think it must be this transfer to us, he head must be all over the place.

26 Oct 2017 21:17:22
Do you think it's because he couldn't get the move in the summer Ed001? So he's playing up and spitting him dummy out at his club because of it? either way I don't like that, if he has an attitude he needs to leave it there before coming here.

I just can't help but think of Suarez with this to be honest and it concerns me, Keita is a fantastic player and I look forward to him joining I just hope his stupidity doesn't ruin it for him like it did Suarez.

3 reds in 7 games is beyond ridiculous.

26 Oct 2017 21:49:21
Perhaps he's trying to force an end to his loan deal. Cannot be good for him watching the club he's joining sitting in 9th position. He probably wants to help the club make the top four. very disappointing agreeing to join a club and then they are not doing as well as he expected. He's probably itching to get to Liverpool and help push for a top four finish.

26 Oct 2017 22:19:35
Maybe your right Sydney, he probably wants the move in January, but we;d have to pay more wouldn't we should that be the case? correct me if I'm wrong there, I don't know how it'd work. Still though, no matter what, getting reds that frequent no matter what, there's no excuse for it.

27 Oct 2017 00:17:43
Who knows, it could be other way also.

He might be wishing he had waited for some more time.

27 Oct 2017 00:44:45
I think he is confused. He’s joining the “Reds” but has taken it too literally.

27 Oct 2017 02:31:02
Heard from someone who watches him regularly that he's trying too hard to show he still cares and it's getting him in trouble. The most recent one was a bit ridiculous though, never a red.

27 Oct 2017 08:02:35
probably wondering what he's signed up to give our recent results.

27 Oct 2017 08:16:09
Was watching that game against Munich. . the guy is everywhere on the pitch! 1 thing I noticed. . there was tackles flying in on him from Munich players and the ref was doing nothing about it. I just think the guy has thought ' sod this, I'll get stuck in myself'. and he gets 2 straight yellows! Great player though. felt sorry for him.

26 Oct 2017 18:50:02
Ed01 would you drop Lovren or Matip if starting Gomez as CB. I think Matip is as bad as Lovren in defending but I think Lovren might lift his game to look after Gomez where I don’t see Matip changing his not bothering my backside attitude.
What do you think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Lovren is clearly suffering badly right now with his personal life. He needs a break. So I would let him have that break and give him a chance to get himself together. Otherwise I would have chosen him over Matip every time.}

26 Oct 2017 19:49:47
Agree with Ed001 here. If Lovren had his personal life in order I would rather him than matip. Matip is so slow. At the moment tho Lovren is the bigger liability.

26 Oct 2017 20:13:52
got to agree Ed, he needs to take some time off .

26 Oct 2017 20:34:59
I'd rather have a composed defender than someone who brings panic to a defence like Lovren. Gomez pace will hopefully make up for Matip's lack of.

27 Oct 2017 01:20:03
IMO i've always thought Lovren looked better at RB than LB too - I know he’s supposed to be LB but not sure he’s a natural there. Maybe that was just because he played with Sakho for those games.

26 Oct 2017 18:48:42
Enjoyed the article MK.

Which of the 3 midfield roles do you feel keita fulfills and how well?

Interested to know your opinion on whether we've filled one of those holes?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

26 Oct 2017 19:33:07
For me 87red, Keita doesn't fit any of the defensive midfielder roles. He is a very weird one, because he is essentially a box to box midfielder, but he is also the main playmaker at Leipzig, and a goal threat both in and outside the box. He should not be depended on to protect the defence though. His best attributes are creativity, shooting, dribbling, pressing and desire to get into the opposition penalty area or create space to shoot.

In my opinion, he is more of a replacement for Lallana because he can do everything he does and more. He is far too rash to be a defensive midfielder though. He has been sent of 3 times this season already! It's not even November! For me, we should give him a free role to just go all over the pitch and do what comes naturally too him. Making him defend will stifle his best attributes, leave gaps at the back when he inevitably goes forward, and put him in more situations where he could get himself sent off. He is deadly going forward, so I'd leave him to do that. Just my opinion though buddy.

Thanks for reading my article as well. Glad you enjoyed it!

27 Oct 2017 01:22:15
Was a good article but I see him replacing Gini/ Can in the box to box role more than the Lallana/ Coutinho role. Think we desperately need a defensive/ deep midfielder to backup and challenge Hendo.

27 Oct 2017 07:02:33
I agree we need someone sitting with or even behind Hendo, but Keita should no be that player. I'd be gobsmacked if Klopp is foolish enough to put both Henderson and Keita in front of the defence, wasting both of their best attributes. They would be far better with player like Obiang sitting behind them. It would give the likes of Hendo, Keita, Gini and Lallana the chance to attack without having to keep one eye over their shoulder. I think opposition players would have nightmares about being pressed by Henderson and Keita. If either got tired, we'd through on Lallana and give them no respite.

I really hope we don't waste Keita in a defensive role though. He has the potential to score and assist double figures from midfield if we use him right.

Legends of Football Number 2: Ferenc Puskas

26 Oct 2017 18:45:06
{Ed's Note - we have posted a new article entitled, Legends of Football Number 2: Ferenc Puskas

Believable5 Unbelievable0

26 Oct 2017 19:54:40
Awesome article Ed01 and what a player, the galloping major! All left foot but what a left foot! Couple more for your list mate if you don’t mind? Alfredo di Stefano who many say is the greatest footballer ever and one from my youth Lothar Matthaus. Thanks mate.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much and don't worry both were on the list.}

26 Oct 2017 19:56:21
I'm embarrassed i knew so little about him 😲 i knew the Puskas award was named after him but that was where my knowledge began and ended. Wow.

Thank you for educating me i guess 😂 great post Ed. Sounds like he was nearly as good as our own short, fat, left footed God.

{Ed001's Note - I have to admit, I knew almost nothing about him I now realise. True legend.}

26 Oct 2017 20:21:07
Absolutely fantastic Ed001 mate thank you, been waiting for this! Incredible that mate!

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much mate.}

26 Oct 2017 20:51:32
I have been waiting for this article and I have to say I was not disappointed, it was such a great read! I have been trying for years to find that quote that was included in the end so that was an unexpected bonus.

What a player, what a life. Such a shame that both him and Cruyff have passed away already.

Thanks for the article, ed.

{Ed001's Note - so glad you enjoyed it mate. Amazing guy.}

27 Oct 2017 01:16:56
Brilliant article ED on Ferenc Puskas (also shout out MKs article on mids too), I remember reading a story on Puskas that when he was young, his family were poor and his father could only afford to buy him one shoe, the shoe fit his right foot better so he always kicked the ball with his left foot so his right shoe would stay clean!

{Ed001's Note - I have not read that and it seems unlikely to be true as they do not seem to have lived in extreme poverty.}

27 Oct 2017 04:37:41
Great article Ed001 mate! Being a Hungarian, this was nice to read you included him in the legends. My dad was telling me many great stories about the Golden Team, especially of course about Puskas! Sadly, not much to be proud of as a Hungarian when it comes to football these days! Thank you again! Your footballing insight and knowledge makes this site a must read everyday!

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much mate. I would love to hear some of those stories, I am going to do a separate article on the Golden Team at some point.}

27 Oct 2017 09:06:50
Well ED my source was a children's book on the history of the World Cup by one of those horrible histories guys so not sure there haha.

{Ed001's Note - ah ok, I used to love watching those programmes with my daughter when she was younger but they do get a fair bit totally wrong. I saw nothing about that being the case in my research, but I wasn't really researching his childhood so I could have just missed it. It does sound like one of those apocryphal stories though like George Washington and never telling a lie etc. One of those things that sounds made up to explain why he had such a great left foot.}

27 Oct 2017 10:39:12
Just read this again, I find his life pretty special, it's amazing how many legends there was such as this man especially when you compare them to todays players lol there's no comparison. What is the next legend on the list mate? Look forward to it whoever it may be :) Have a good day Ed mate thanks again!

27 Oct 2017 19:23:41
Brilliant read ed. Always knew his name but never at all just how much a legend he was. Heartbreaking about Madrid receiving so much money and his family so little.

{Ed001's Note - glad you enjoyed and I totally agree it is a real shame. He was a true legend and deserved better. Pele next.}

28 Oct 2017 00:52:18
Great article ed, always knew the name but knew nothing of the man or his career. To come back aged 31 and have a great, almost, second career is Hollywood worthy really. Have to say though I kinda hate Madrid a bit now though but it’s typical of modern day football, Liverpool notwithstanding with our recent lack of charitable spirit!
Looking forward to the next one, cheers ed.

{Ed001's Note - I was the same mate, never knew a thing about him really before I did the research. Now I am in awe.}

Ferenc Puskas

{Ed's Note - we have posted a new player profile about, Ferenc Puskas

Believable5 Unbelievable0

27 Oct 2017 00:54:47
My late father just loved Puskas he would have really enjoyed that read mate. Thank you!

{Ed001's Note - your father had great taste mate.}

26 Oct 2017 13:07:09
Brilliant article, MK. Thoroughly enjoyed reading through. All the best to you mate.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

26 Oct 2017 13:38:52
Cheers mate. All the best to you too!

26 Oct 2017 18:00:42
Yeah brilliant post mk. Great read and agree with your suggestions for midfield. For me it would be fabinho all day long. Kid is a class act, great engine for a Brazilian and doesn't mind getting stuck in! Think Monaco were quoting £53 million pound which is peanuts considering what some players are going for. I'd drive to Monaco to get he is that good.

26 Oct 2017 18:40:44
Brilliant post MK I like you always said it was a mistake not to replace Lucas. The lad from West Ham United I would pull out all the stops to get in.

26 Oct 2017 19:34:03
Cheers fellas!

26 Oct 2017 12:55:02
if you have some time to answer, are there changes made in the recruitment team or are there any plans to do so?
by the way good article adam, keep going mate, hope it's getting better in real life.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There have been changes in the scouting team over the past year - but nothing major.}

26 Oct 2017 13:20:49
thanks for the quick reply ed and many thanks in advance for the sharkopod, looking forward to it.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

26 Oct 2017 13:45:48
Thanks armendn. Things are looking up mate, thank you for asking.

26 Oct 2017 17:39:51
good to hear mate.

26 Oct 2017 10:04:44
Hello Ed001,
If you were in charge and constrained by the same set of players after the Spurs match, what changes would you make?

Believable7 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - put Ward in goal and Gomez in the centre alongside Matip, with TAA at right back.}

26 Oct 2017 10:43:31
Because we are conceding a lot I would switch the formation while Mane is out, Pull Emre back alongside Henderson make them both Sit and protect the back four and put Pip up on the LW with Salah the otherside and Bobby at 10 and try something different uptop with Studge or Solanke or put woodburn in at 10 with bobby uptop.

26 Oct 2017 11:18:08
Spot on ed, it makes so much sense that we try Gomez at centre back, with a recognised rb and see what ward can do.

26 Oct 2017 11:22:17
I wouldn't put bobby up top he doesn't have 20+ goals a season in him i am not bobby bashing i like the lad but he is no striker i would adree with ed001 with gomez and taa and would like to give solanke a run with bobby behing him and pip have a free roaming mane salah on wings and make the back 4 stop bombing forward and can at the back of midfield we need to mix it up because what we are doing is not working that's just my opinion.

26 Oct 2017 11:35:41
That's the change's everyone want's to see Ed.

26 Oct 2017 12:02:58
FSG should hand Ed1 3 trial matchs (vs Huddersfield, WHU, Soton) .

{Ed001's Note - I think I might be a bit old now to play mate, though even with my dodgy knees I could cover the ground quicker than Matip 'chasing' back....}

26 Oct 2017 12:56:47
KLOPPERS
I totally agree with you and the tweeking in the system i think solanke gives you a different option up front. you can't play your way through every team you come up against and 2 wins in the last 10 games proves that if klopp thinks he can then he's either nieve or arrogant. he also needs to pick a back 4 and keeper and give them a run of games together instead of all this swapping and changing ward-tta-gomez-matip-moreno or Robertson its only my opinion.

26 Oct 2017 14:24:57
Hi Ed 1,

I agree 100% with the changes suggested above as do most fans!

But if it's so blatantly obvious to us, why can't Klopp see it?

And why don't red reporters at these press conferences ask these direct questions instead of skirting round the issues?

Klopp has to be pinned down on this as it's gone on too long.

{Ed001's Note - managers do this a lot, they opt for experience out of fear. As for reporters, I have no idea why reporting is so crap these days, but it is the norm these days to just report crap off InstaSnapFaceTwitBookErChatGram rather than bothering with actual news now, so I suppose what do we expect? People don't care about issues just gossip so that is they get given now.}

26 Oct 2017 15:01:40
Personally I'd love us to drop both Matip and Lovern, but we only have Gomez to come in so means Matip needs to stay in the set up. That gives TAA the right back spot. Moreno has done better but I think Robertson is a better option and should also slot in. I know that's a lot of defence changes but needs must and these guys need game time to gain the experience. I'd also be dropping Migs and brining in Ward, he has shown a calmness over Migs and Karius. I think Can could be used as a CDM in front to give more cover while this set up settles in. I do not see VVD as the answer and is very expensive but is an upgrade on our current players. Maybe the scouting net needs casting further afield to find someone.
We have a strong midfield set up and when Mane back we are full of options. I like Bobby and gives us a good amount of energy up front. I do however think we should be giving Solanke more time as he is a more out and out striker. I know both Woodburn and Brewster are young but they need to start getting first team experience around the U23 games to give them development and know that the club will use them. Yes they are young but so was Owen and Fowler when they came in, good enough then your old enough.

Just my 2 p worth,

Baz.

26 Oct 2017 17:30:27
I don't think we need two dcms out of three cms. I would play can as dcm. Week in week out. I would give gomes a shot at cb next to lovren. Matip mistakes were just as costly as lovren and matip wasn't pushed in the back when he messed up with the header. Unlike lovren who was. I would worry for Joe though as he is quite xmall and inexperienced and if he made loads of mistakes it could really harm his Liverpool career. On the other hand it could ignite it.

I don't think we have a problem up top. We scored eight goals last week. I love the mix and match style of the false nine and kind of false wingers, I call em that as they are goal scorers reall, they don't supply endless crosses to the middle and are our main goal threat.

I think we have the players to change to the good old fashioned 442 when we need to with dom so lane a great option and great target for the wingers midfielders to find.

It's all pretty academic in January we need to sign a cb. Then I'm more than happy to carry on as we are. Not sitting I'm mid table, I mean playing 433.

{Ed025's Note - i still think you need a top striker superred, i know you scored 8 last week but 7 of those were against a side that make accrington look like real madrid mate..

26 Oct 2017 18:31:39
I didn't mean you play Ed1. Just show Klopp how to utilize current squad.

{Ed001's Note - damn, I was just visualising myself running out, touching the sign and banging in a late winner in the derby then....}

26 Oct 2017 18:22:18
Being very honest and as much as I know about Klopp, He would pick Klavan ahead of Gomez at the back! Gomez might continue to to play at the RB which is why we kept him instead of loaning him out!
He might drop Migs for the time being but that’s it! Migs is still the first choice at the club while Karius is the choice in CL games.

27 Oct 2017 00:17:06
I hope your proved wrong Harry mate and I'm sure you hope your proved wrong, but I understand what your saying.

27 Oct 2017 10:58:57
Thanks Ed001, for your response. I don't see Solanke in your line-up are you of the same mind as Klopp, in that he is behind Sturridge in the peeking order or would you give him a run of games?

{Ed001's Note - I just fail to see the need to change the attack, we are not struggling to score goals. I would use Solanke as the first man off the bench though, ahead of Sturridge right now, who is struggling badly.}

Just brilliant eds
What’s great is the fact that there are players out there that CAN be brought in so no excuses
I’d like 2 to be honest.

{Ed001's Note - not us to compliment mate - MK Scouser wrote the article.}

26 Oct 2017 09:34:32
Great article MK mate. Thank you.

26 Oct 2017 09:59:48
Good article, MK Scouser!

26 Oct 2017 10:11:04
Cheers Corleone and Alvarez!

26 Oct 2017 10:09:37
Glad you enjoyed the read Longthing. I tend to agree with you. Can and Milner will likely both need replacing next summer, and if Henderson's injury hasn't cleared up fully, we'll start looking light in midfield not just literally, but in terms of personnel too!

Cheers for posting Ed001, had great fun writing this one. Even if it did bring home a few horrible truths! 😭.

{Ed001's Note - I am looking forward to reading it when I get a few minutes.}

26 Oct 2017 10:10:02
So Ed01 what’s your opinion on MKs options.

A good article and nice read too.

{Ed001's Note - I haven't read it yet mate, will do it later when I have a few min to spare.}

26 Oct 2017 10:34:13
Your welcome MK.

I love reading articles mate, always good to know something new which is why I love Ed001's articles, there's always something to learn in them, thing's id of never known. Your article was brilliant, can we expect more?

26 Oct 2017 10:39:13
Have to admit Ed, the part about Ndidi was inspired by yourself. I never really rated him because I'd never watched him that closely. Upon doing a bit of research and watching him more closely over the last couple of weeks though, i discovered not only that he is still 20 years old, but that he is actually a very good player. He plays with so much heart and breaks up play very well for one so young.

Hope you enjoy it when you get a chance to read it. Would love to hear your opinions on this subject.

{Ed001's Note - oh ok, I am honoured that it made you have a look at him. I like him, but inconsistent still, but there is so much quality there he could be a special player.

I will defo read it later when the missus is watching her tagalog soaps. I have no idea what is going on in any of them other than someone always loses their memory. They seem to take it in turns. So I need something to read or I end up in trouble for sniggering all the way through!}

26 Oct 2017 10:46:13
Great stuff MK. I'm in the midfield powerhouse category. Pace and power aligned to ability on the ball seems to be what's required in modern day football. With West Hams struggles this season would Obiang be achievable in January?

26 Oct 2017 10:56:30
Great Article MK, personally myself I would go for Dendocker fantastic player fits the Model as being relatively young, and when I have seen him play he was the main reason Tielsmans was able to do a lot of the special stuff he was behind doing the leg work, theirs a few that come in and would make a real difference Lucas Tousart looks really good but would be extremely expensive another one from the premier league that would be great for us would be Abdoulaye Doucoure from watford strong as a Ox but personally theirs two I would go for who looks like they could be good and that would be Jean-Phillipe Gbamin form Mainz and Cheick Doukouré's from Levante likes a tackle but all of these are not Marquee that the fan base want.

26 Oct 2017 11:08:51
Glad you enjoyed it Mcgoveb.

Cheers again Corleone. I did used to write quite regularly for the site about 3 years ago. Probably on a monthly basis, but I've had a mad few years. Couple of job changes, becoming a father, leaving my parents house, getting engaged etc. So I've not had a massive amount of free time. I'm finally more settled now though. Although this article only took a couple of hours to write, you spend hours fine tuning them and at least 2 days reading up on players and finding footage of them before you can even start writing. The hardest part for me though is not using words like "we", "our" or "us" when talking about Liverpool 😂 i shall try and do them more often when something inspires me though as feedback so far seems positive. I'm not as creative as Ed001 though. He is exceptional at finding interesting discussion points. To write such interesting articles so frequently is quite a skill in it's own right.

{Ed001's Note - they will be thinking I am paying you to say nice stuff if you keep this up! Which reminds me, cheque is in the post but shhhhh....}

26 Oct 2017 11:21:55
Cheers Gordy. I think if we put down enough money, Obiang would jump at the chance to join us. That is guesswork though. He is a very good player.

Thanks Kloppers. Some crackers in your list. I like Dendoncker too, and Doucoure is also great. Only reason i didn't mention him was because I think he may end up playing a bit further forward in the near future. His attacking prowess has surprised me. Tousart is also great. I think I'm right in saying he is still only 21? He was considered by myself too, but i decided that buying from Lyon wouldn't count as realistic 😂 the same reason is why i left out Diawara of Napoli, actually. Some teams are just hard to do business with!

{Ed001's Note - Obiang could well have joined in the summer if he had not been injured. There was interest from both sides.}

26 Oct 2017 11:32:41
Np MK, yeah I believe Tousart might be 20. agreed Doucoure has surprised me at how great he is with his feet for his size. oh god Diawara would be an amazing signing but as you said I think theirs a line of clubs that would love him, Ed01 do you think potentially Obiang could be a realistic signing in January would fit in nicely as a DM for us I think.

{Ed001's Note - very realistic.}

26 Oct 2017 11:34:12
It better not just be an envelope full of UAE sand like last time Ed! It's only funny the first 7 times.

I haven't received envelopes with such useless contents since some guy called Brendan sent me three envelopes with a single name enclosed in each; Simon M, Jose E and Glen J. No idea what that was all about.

{Ed001's Note - it is like a catchphrase mate, it will grow on you.}

26 Oct 2017 11:35:21
You both have a knack for it, was only saying the other week how it's difficult to come by good articles these days due to the amount of sites putting up absolute nonsense, they'll make the title interesting you click it and either get a sentence or 2 from which they've copied and pasted from the bbc website or bugger all lol so I tend to leave it alone, I don't like to be click baited.

At least here the articles put up and informative. I wish I could do them like you fellas but my English isn't great when writing lol I know what I know up there but putting what I know down writing it is another matter, you fellas make it look easy haha! Well done! look forward to whoever's is next :)

26 Oct 2017 11:41:21
That's interesting to hear Ed001. I knew of interest, but i didn't know it was as serious as that would suggest. Be nice if we went back in for him in January or next summer. He'd be perfect to replace Can in my opinion.

Plus, i know a fair few Hammers and they'd hate it if he signed for Liverpool 😂.

{Ed001's Note - he was keen to leave, still is. There are a few players playing for a move away.}

26 Oct 2017 11:45:17
Fair play mate, whilst i don't agree with some of your comments / views . the fact that you had the guts to put your opinions out there gets my respect! This is what the site should be all about.

26 Oct 2017 11:52:53
I agree on clickbait Corleone 😂 it is so annoying when you click on "Liverpool pull off amazing deal to sign teenage wonderkid" and then you open it to see that it's just Woodburn has extended his contract and the article is a mash up of the clubs official statement and Ben's Wikipedia page 😂 at least on here, the article title is in no way misleading. You get exactly what it says on the tin, and it's all original content! If English isn't your first language mate, you had me fooled. Most of my mates couldn't write as coherently as you do!

26 Oct 2017 11:53:20
We have grujic that lad has pure quality, he 6ft 5 for a start could help wid set peices at both ends he can pass tackle I would rather see him there now than emre Can an plus he the future can isn't, I like kouyate from West ham think he does a good job.

26 Oct 2017 12:02:46
really enjoyed the article MK. good read mate. like you i didn't necessarily feel the need for a defensive midfielder in the summer but have since been swayed by our performances. i don't watch much foreign footy so haven't seen a lot of those mentioned will keep a closer eye on Obiang now ed says he is a realistic option for January.

26 Oct 2017 12:03:49
Thank you MK, appreciated mate :)

26 Oct 2017 12:03:54
Cheers Toe knee. I am glad to hear that you didn't agree with everything actually. It is good to know that my opinions aren't just "safe". If everyone agreed with every single point I'd be worried it was too on the fence. I tried to write it so as to present my opinions to you all, but without trying to brainwash everyone into agreeing. I've always believed that the best way to write is to leave the debate open for discussion, rather than preach your own agenda so convincingly people feel they can't dispute it.

26 Oct 2017 12:06:10
Hailstones if you actually watch Grujic he is to rash in his tackles picks up silly bookings and let's the game go past him a lot. and doesn track back as much and press hard, he was a silly signing at the time tbh, he has talent but I think the move was to early for him.

26 Oct 2017 12:22:57
Well impressed MK
You be part of the eds team soon 😉.

26 Oct 2017 13:48:10
Good article mate, really enjoyed it.

Have a difference in opinions on some possible suggestions but that's what makes this banter site what it is, opinions.

Can't believe you didn't recommend Kirchoff though. ;)

You got any other articles lined up?

26 Oct 2017 14:40:32
Just read the article MKS - really enjoyed it though I did disagree entirely on Fabinho, he is a right back really and, when in the middle, suffers the same problems as our current midfield. He has absolutely no defensive mindset and does the Matip-stroll back after his frequent charges forward. Plus he is completely unrealistic which is why he is still there.

26 Oct 2017 14:42:53
Apologies I forgot to say who I would have suggested instead, which is Doucoure of Watford. They will sell anyone for the right price.

26 Oct 2017 15:11:23
Nothing yet smplfc. Thanks though mate.

Cheers Ed001. Appreciate the honesty. I don't really like Fabinho as a right back myself. I think it wasted his best qualities. I will keep an eye on his tracking back though. In games I've seen he's looked very committed to getting back, but it's easy to miss that sort of thing because it is usually off the ball.

I do agree with Doucoure though. Another poster mentioned him and i seriously considered including him when i wrote it. I can see him doing a Yaya Toure though and ending up playing higher up because his exploits in and around the box are wasted when he has too much defensive responsibility. What a player he looks though. My predicting him eventually moving forward is all it was that made me leave him out.

Appreciate you reading and taking the time to reply though. Now stop ignoring the Mrs, get back under her thumb, and watch Hollyoaks 😂.

{Ed001's Note - she is busy watching Pusong Ligaw mate, no Hollyoaks here thankfully! We have to go out now as she cleverly broke her phone screen today, so need to go get that fixed in Naif where everything is cheap, cheap, cheap, but I have to go with her as it is not a place for a woman on her own.}

26 Oct 2017 15:13:44
i must admit i didn't think doucoure was a particularly defensive mided player. i have seen very little of watford though. will keep an eye on him as well as Obian. really hope the club are looking for players we could get in January.

26 Oct 2017 15:31:41
I still think drop coutinho into mid and ask can and gini to just sit back and half the problems are solved.
The other half is solved by dropping lovren and migs.
Having so many attackers still playing coutinho upfront and three man useless midfield is beyond me now.
He can use coutinho in midfield and just order can and gini to sit back.
But he is doing it.
Klopp has to be blamed at sheer failure to understand his team and failing to sign decent players.
I wholly disagree with the article.
We have players with steel in can and gini who can do the job of protecting the defense.
However a three of hendo can gini/ Milner doesn't work because no one is creative enough and everybody is trying to go for glory and drive forward even though it's clear they don't have enough quality for that.
But if you put coutinho there he becomes your guy to ping everything forward and can and gini can just relax and defend. Then you have curious case of grujic who klopp is reluctant to try. A 6'4 boy wonder who wins headers for fun both sides of the pitch and is a tough tackler.
But Mr klopp is worried and is not looking to let it go and try players.
No we don't need midfield players we need to trust academy players like wood burner Wilson for attack role. And drop coutinho in midfield and all these problems will suddenly disappear.
Actually that was the plan at the beginning g of the season but then plans changed because we got 10 man thrashed by city.
A 10 old can see that.
Klopp is just being a scaredly cat. That's is the problem. He has been gifting mistakes by giving more chances to migs lovren moreno hendo Milner.

I live hendo but he is post injury simply not good enough to give his soul to the club every 90 mins just like studger. Such players don't need to be given chances.

For Gods sake I hope he gives youth a chance before splurging next year.

Solutions lie within the club. When the old isn't working you have to try the new.
When the hugs aren't working you have to bring out the suplexes.

26 Oct 2017 15:24:50
Bloody hell Ed 😂 don't forget to take your Scimitar!

{Ed001's Note - no need mate they are too busy trying to sell me stuff to do owt else.}

26 Oct 2017 18:47:57
what about Naby keita?

26 Oct 2017 18:49:09
Maybe when Ed025 retires i can have his job, Longthing? After all, he is 167 years old in December.

I couldn't honestly do what these guys do for a sustained period. I was a moderator on a social media page with 15,000 followers the other year and it killed me. Constantly deleting arguments and abuse, tirelessly trying to keep things fresh and interesting so people keep coming back etc. It is seriously a full time job if you want it to be a success, and these guys do it for little to no pay everyday, on a site that probably gets closer to millions of visitors over the course of the year. We take them for granted. Actual Inside information, brilliant forums, hilarious but informative podcasts, and the best write ups on the net. And they don't even ask for a subscription charge or drown us in adverts. Take that Duncan.

26 Oct 2017 18:25:41
So after two years, 4 windows and infinite speculations throwing random names to play here and there the page now relaises the team needs a specialist midfielder! I can’t count the amount of stick I took for claiming the same from years! So liverpool need a holding midfielder! Good!

26 Oct 2017 19:30:51
Nice one MK, agree fully. One point of order tho, wasn't it milner busting gut for son's goal? He just got gassed badly. And oh my, I think everything is going to fall to pieces after an elementary mistake aye!

26 Oct 2017 19:41:35
I think everyone wanted to believe Klopp had a master plan Harry. He decided we didn't need one and everyone as prepared to back his decision until he was proven wrong. I think at least against the stronger teams we are missing not having one. It is always mentioned how big of a gap there is in between Matip and Lovren, but that is what centre backs are coached to do nowadays; split so that the full backs can get forward. The problem is that when that happens, you're deepest midfielder should sit in and shield that gap. When our press fails, and it does quite frequently, that gap that we've left empty can be exposed quite brutally. It's easy to forget that Lovren missed that header where in years can by, your left back would be challenging for it. With how Moreno is asked to play though, Lovren has to make that challenge instead. But where was the defensive midfielder to fill in in case he missed it or got beaten in the air? Nowhere.

I'll give any Liverpool manager a chance to try their own weird ideas, but when it goes wrong and shows no signs of correction, then we need to make a change.

{Ed001's Note - to be honest, the defensive midfielder should have been the one making the challenge rather than the centre back.}

26 Oct 2017 21:46:17
What a great read MK.
I would have gone for Camacho if I had to choose one. But hey, that's bot what its about.
I really hope you inspired more posters to back up theire moaning with some real facts/ names etc.
Again, thanks.

26 Oct 2017 22:50:31
One for another day perhaps but we need a whole new spine of the team not just a DM.

27 Oct 2017 02:53:55
Great article MK. I've been saying for a long time as well that we lack a solid CDM on the pitch. Any successful team has a solid ball winner in midfield and we've been trying to make Can into one, Henderson into one, etc.
Robinho would be a dream come true, but as you stated, likely very unrealistic, but you never know.
N'Zonzi, Obiang, the type of midfielder that solidifies not only the middle of the park but your back line as well.
A "Mash-your-ankle" kind of lad is the first on the team sheet for me. With a Mascherano in mid (in his prime) breathing down the neck of Kane as he is looking up for a header. he would have crapped his pants.
That "steel" you mentioned is exactly what we lack and miss and need. It is like a safe feeling knowing that player is there to make sure things are ok. and allows the players pushing forward to not have to worry so much that if things don't go as planned, that the ball is likely going to end up in the back of the net.
Cheers MK!

27 Oct 2017 07:58:01
Thanks again everyone, and i i think Milner made the most effort faithinworks but he still made his move too late whilst he ball watched and never really looked fully committed to getting back goal side.

Fair point Ed001. If our entire midfield hadn't been caught under the ball, perhaps they could've made the challenge and allowed Lovren the chance to stay in position. That goal summed us up defensively for me. Individual error, laziness from Matip, inexperience from Gomez, weak keeping from Mignolet, and a midfield not even in the game defensively.

{Ed001's Note - it says a lot about the team that our most effective defender is Firmino!}

26 Oct 2017 07:52:31
Right, get ready for an optimistic post folks. Lord knows this page needs a bit more of it at the moment.

People beginning to doubt klopp (or already doubting) . Are things going well just now? Of course not! But let's look at this objectively in terms of his tenure so far:

In his first season which he joined part way through, he got us to 2 finals. Alright we didn't win which was a huge disappointment but nevertheless it was some feat considering the mess he inherited, also beating the likes of UTD and Dortmund along the way.

2nd season - he got us back into the champions league in his first full season. A competition we'd only been in once in the previous 7 seasons.

3rd season has no doubt been a poor start but we're looking in a good place to get out of the group stages of CL this time (we were pathetic in our last CL campaign even with Basel and Ludogorets in our group) .

I assure you I'm not trying to paper over the cracks and klopp no doubt has his flaws but he's shown enough in his first two years that we don't just all of a sudden turn on him after a poor run.

We're better than this red men.

26 Oct 2017 08:27:18
I love the guy an want him for ten years if possible but he ain't sorted defence that's all we want he the manager sort it, been 2 an half seasons now.

26 Oct 2017 09:12:45
I agree hail. Whilst there are discussions "does firmino get enough goals",
Is Henderson captain material? Do we rely too much on Mane? Should the kids get more game time ect.
it's all not worth the healthy discussions and debates anymore. The defence and the 2 keepers are just a shambles and I can't even think about the rest of the team whilst it's like this. I'd be happy if Lovren has played his last game for Us, it's a small start.

26 Oct 2017 09:49:45
Fowler you say 'the 2 keepers are just a shambles' one being Migs, I get that but what other? Karius I assume? he has barely been given a chance so how can you call him a shambles? Please help me understand because that's a bit harsh mate and makes no sense.

26 Oct 2017 12:02:13
I like klopp but I really worry for him cos he has left himself short at the back an pressure on our attack now is immense, his stubborn attitude that he will somehow improve our defence is a real task for him, I honestly think he too one dimensional teams know wat they up against an how to frustrate us also teams know we will give a goal or 2 away very important couple of months for klopp hope he gets through.

26 Oct 2017 07:46:50
Eds/ reds with talk of klopp maybe being next for the sack or some reds losing faith in him do you think its just wanting something new and shiny?

To me its almost like they see another manager in a good spell and go "i want that one" klopp is no longer new and exciting for them. its like they saved for ages to buy an iphone 7 then when the iphone 10 came out there 7 was rubish they wanted the new thing now.

Sure klopp deserves contructive critisism now but surely we should want him to succeed rather than changing our manager everytime we hit a bad spell.

he bought 3 defenders that are not really improving us but he should be given the chance to rectify that before we talk of replacing him. if in january he buys ramagnoli and the summer he buys rugani for example then there would be less people calling for his exit. let's support our club by willing them to improve not asking for everything to be thrown out and start again.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - people just have no patience. If it doesn't work immediately they want to throw it away and get a new one, no one wants to try and fix things. No one appreciates what they have because they think the grass is greener and never see the issues elsewhere, thinking everything is rosy and bright. It is like everyone has suddenly forgotten that it took Klopp years to build at both Mainz 05 and Dortmund and think he just waved a magic wand. He might not succeed but it is far too early to throw it all away and start all over again. For the umpteenth time.}

26 Oct 2017 08:05:05
agreed ed, appologies if its been asked too many times.

{Ed001's Note - it's fine mate, they all have short memories too so no one else will notice if it has ;-)

26 Oct 2017 08:16:46
If it was upto me he'd not only have this season but next season as well. Personally I don't think we'll get top 4 this year, should we not get it then so be it, we all want it but in this league its difficult. I want to be a millionaire, doesn't mean I will be.

If we don't sign a CB in Jan, Klopp will get the blame by fans - If we don't get top 4 he will also get the blame. What amuses me more then anything is people wanting him out yet they can't say who they'd want to replace him.

When Klopp came in everybody was happy about it, or the majority was, he hasn't won a trophy in a couple of years and now everybody wants him out, it's quite silly really isn't it? Rome wasn't built in a day, he needs more time, he will address the most weakest positions in the coming transfer windowS but that won't be done in one window, it takes time, give him it.

26 Oct 2017 09:51:07
If we get rid of klopp then I for 1 will not be looking forward to yet another period of transition.

Ridiculous how people want instant success.

26 Oct 2017 15:18:27
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. Since Rafa left in 2010 Liverpool have had 4 managers in 7 years, an average of less than 2 years per manager. How’s that working out for us? 1 trophy and 2 top 4 finishes over that period. But hey let’s just sack another manager and we’ll get the same geniuses saying the same thing in another 2 years.

26 Oct 2017 00:05:39
Stick Karius in goal, ward and mignolet on the bench, if the opposition get a penalty, bring Mignolet on.

Penalty saved

Get him off immediately

Bring Ward on

Sorted.
