sahin - real madrid 8m
sturridge - chelsea - 13m
walcott - arsenal15m
some young dude - free

Sahin will go for a lot more than that that, and thats assuming he wants to stay.
huddz red

Some young dude will cost 13.8m so your figures are wrong

Sahin looks ok but to be over 8mill he needs to be more than ok.

Some young dude just signed a new contract

Eds, what decent left backs are there out there which we could be interested in? Cheers

Enrique still needs a game. He hasn't had a fair chance at all. I still think he can come good. Plus Johnson is playing alright there and we still have Robinson who has shown a lot of promise. LB is certainly not a priority in jan. only a quality finisher is needed.

Jack Robinson? Oh wait, we've already got him.

JFT 96

JP

Keep glenjo there, he is by far a better left back than right back. wisdom at right back then we have agger, skrtyl, coates and kelly who can all play centre back and agger and kelly can play left back and right back respectively if needed

Really don't want to appear negative, but how many top teams actually have a left back, it's an outdated posistion

I'd like to buy Yuto Nagatomo from Inter Milan. I think we'd get him for around 10-12m. He'd fit perfectly into our team and Jack Robinson can learn off of him very well as they are very similar footballers in size and style of play.

quick question for the ed on duty tonight? when a player is ruled out for a period of time - say three months, does that time frame include getting back to fitness to be able to play first team action week in week out or is it an indication of when the injury will be healed enough to start getting back to fitness? sorry if i seem dumb.
huddz red {Ed063's Note - Thats a very good question and one that im not sure about tbh. I think though that it means after 3 months they can start training again etc. But i could be wrong}

Ok thanks for trying to answer anyway ed, always appreciative of what you guys do.
huddz red {Ed063's Note - No worries. Sorry I couldn't have been more help}

26 Oct 2012 23:14:47
I want a crack at answering this question.

There is no regulatory body monitoring what is published, so it is safe to assume what is known is what the club wants to be known (both in a footballing sense and with business needs taken into account).

So it's kind of up to the club, and by the club we mean manager, physio and the DoF role to decide what's best to publicise.

Sometimes it will be a tactical decision, sometimes a business decision, and sometime a man-management/tactical decision to realease injury/recover details to the press.

As educated Liverpool fans we always would like to know, or feel the club should let us know, which the situation is, but in real terms we need to start accepting that we don't need to know the ins and outs of every case. It has financial benefits for the club, and if we all looked inside ourselves we prefer the "washing linen in private" approach.

Lets see what the next 2/3 years bring, i'm just estatic seeing Suso and Raheem tear it up. YNWA

' As educated Liverpool fans'. That's a new one on me. That's a belter. Will have to share that around, will amuse people no end and get people chuckling. Kind of an oxymoron though don't you think

I dont know if this is the wrong post you have answerded to mate but a couple of points, 1 - leave a name so i have a person to reply to, not a keyboard warrior which by the looks of it your not. 2 - it is not washin the dirty linen in public it is a general question not just concerning our great club but all that are professional clubs. i am not asking to know the specific ins and outs of why a club rules out an injury to a player for an x amount of time, only if it includes just healing time to start training again or if it includes building up of fitness to a standard that requires then to play weekly at a first team level.
thank for trying to answer it anyway it is always a pleasure to hear from fellow supprtoers of our great and unique club.

p.s 2-0 to liverpool on sunday. come on you reds, ooooosh!

'as educated Liverpool fans' probably shouldn't have gone on a rant after a few exports, meh! life is fun!

ed great site and excellent work.
can u tell me whats the situation with martias suarez?
he failed a medical..now where is he playing? {Ed063's Note - He stayed with his current club, which I think is Anderlecht}

Do you think he can be a possibility in jan. I would fancy him over hooper.

26 Oct 2012 22:36:41
Hi Eds Eddy here...just quick observation all we are lacking is a world class goalscorer up along side suarez somebody direct and ruthless... suarez ups his game with better players along side him
i.e cavani for the national side...suarez is the prolific scorer and remember messi charity game in new york suarez and falcao up front and suarezs hits a hat trick so for the sake of chance getting champs league...yes i agree bring through young players and buy young in the summer but just splash the cash for KlassJan Huntelaar he is the diamond we are missing..what a player come on FSG..We want the old AJAX pair combined once again..who cares hes 29 he will give you 20+ season for at least next 3 seasons and he doesn't play his age..he reminds me of fowler knows his position so well and is babyfaced so could be a di natale still racking up goals into his mid 30s

Eddy

Think after the other night he seems interested im spurs

Why not Spurs? Every fookin player were after they show interest in

26 Oct 2012 21:53:41
Reina if fit
Wisdom, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson
Gerrard, Allen
Shelvey
Sterling, Suarez, Assaidi

Jones, carragher, downing, henderson, sahin, suso, yesil.

If the game against Anzhi is anything to go by, I'd remove Shelvey, play Sahin in Gerrard's position that you put and play Gerrard behind the front three where you put Shelvey. Gerrard has a great record against our neighbours.

JFT 96

JP {Ed063's Note - Put Suso in the hole, Sahin next to Allen and a front three of Suarez, Sterling and Assaidi. Quality team then}

Yeah fair play Ed063, completely overlooked Suso. My only thinking is with the ferocity between the teams we could maybe do with our Captain for this one purely for experience in these derby fixtures, even if just for a while, although we could deploy the United technique and play Suso in the hole until around the 70th minute once Everton start to tire, then bring Gerrard on to add another dimension. Works wonders for United when they do it with Scholes.

JFT 96

JP

Good shout ed062 that's exactly what I've been waiting for. But rogers sees suso as more of a im winger for some reason (he and Suarez play well together so suso playing as CAM would be perfect). Plus gerrard always turns up on dearby day

Original post correct, can't start Sahin and Suso v Them

I don't think this the game to give suso his first game in the 10 spot. It will be fast and intense.

I haven't posted for a while, so thought I'd give a little run through on what I hope are the windows ahead are going to pan out like. Firstly January. Well before the emergence of our extremely talented youth, I'd imagine most of us were crying out for quite a few players come in the winter window. I think given the progression/use of talent such as Suso and Sterling, we really need to sign one player, a striker. I'm not going to speculate who this may well be and personally I don't think price tags or reputations are necessarily what we need to be focusing on. That said a player with a higher risk in terms of cost, initially may be bold but it could work out money well spent in the longer term if the goals do flow.

By the end of the year, we'll hope to have a fully fit squad giving up great strength in depth going forward. If you look at our squad on paper it's got great potential going forward.

Reina
Jones

Kelly
Johnson
Wisdom
Coates
Carragher *
Agger
Skrtel
Robinson
Enrique *

Allen
Lucas
Sahin *
Shelvey
Gerrard
Henderson *

Assaidi
Borini
Sterling
Suarez
Suso
Downing *
Cole *

The players with *'s next to them are the one's who I question whether they'll survive summer (I think all will survive January).

We all know Carroll won't be returning and his fee should be £17 million to start things off, plus £80k off the wage bill. This automatically could be spent straight on Sahin, who if settles and wants to stay could cost anywhere from £12 - £15 million, with a similar wage with incentives on top.

My hope going forward is that other players departing will be filled mostly by youth. If Carra retires, Sama could take his spot, or perhaps a combination of Kelly and Wisdom can play there. Cole will go, surely! His massive wage is too much for a fringe player, especially given his lack of impact. Suso already has taken that role, so no replacement needed.

Enrique should find form again, which gives him a good shot of staying in the medium term; perhaps until Robinson comes of age and makes the spot his own. Obviously it's a squad game and I do still feel Enrique has a place in our side.

Henderson and Downing are the two players that I think will go. I was convinced Jordan would be liked by BR, but given his lack of emergence and Allen really taking his spot I just can't see him staying. I like the lad, he has a good all round game, but what we really lack without Lucas is a strong defensive midfielder. If Jordan goes it'll be a player with power that I see joining, as far too often our defence has been horribly exposed this season. That isn't anyone's fault as such, but that'll be addressed.

Downing is a mystery. Everyone knows he has talent, very strong technique and a good engine. What he lacks, a little like Henderson is confidence and perhaps a little grit. He plays it all too safe, but that doesn't lead to consistancy it leads to predictable dull football. I like his ability to play in multiple positions, but do feel his spot in the team/squad will likely to be the major position where money is spent in the summer.

I know we're a long way off anything relating to these windows, it's just good to take stock and have a positive stance on our squad going forward. There are areas for improvement but I don't see the need for wholesale changes going forward, just a little more options up top and we've got great long term prospects.

Papa G

I agree with most of it although i'd keep hendo, enrique and downing unless we have got some quality replacements lined up

So I decided to have a quick gander on the Everton Rumours page. On the banter section there doesn't seem to be a single post from a Liverpool fan recently coming out with smarmy and cocky remarks. On the flipside, this page seems to be full of Evertonians here for the 'banter'. Sums it up really - form is temporary, class is permanent.

JFT 96

Well said my friend. And that class you mention ? It's coming from the toffess

Really looking forward to the game on sunday but since there's a hurricane/superstorm heading towards the eastern seaboard of the U.S I might lose power and be stripped of my right to watch this wonderful derby match. I hope god can slow it down a little if just for 2 hours on sunday morning :) Come onnnnnnnn you reds.

Superstorm heading towards goodison sunday.

I am in eastern coast too! Around here it is supposed to get more intense on Monday. So hopefully i can watch the game. But there will be no power 100% on Wednesday so won't be able to watch swansea game :(

I dont understand the problem with Hooper at least he gets into the box! He could be our Jelavic, trust Brendan he has a eye on him!

I agree. I honestly think this lad could be a success at Liverpool.

Do u guys remember boroni??
seems people have forgoten 11 mil

Give him a chance to settle mate, now he's injured..

Suarez has scored more than Jelavic

AHOY - its a pleasure to see some of our Bitter friends coming over for a look, I am not surprised they are so pleased

Its because they are the only Premier League Club guaranteed their "Cup Final" in October.

Also am I the only one who smiles every time I see D Moyes standing in front of the new electronic shiny shiny advertising boards at Goodison -advertsing a certain alcoholic beverage when it says "GINGER CRABBIE" it couldn't be more apt

The drink is ginger beer but thats rhyming slang for something completely different.

BOILED ONIONS

To imply Moyes is a crab shows the extent of your football knowledge, or lack thereof. Name me one other manager who could have accomplished what he has on such a limited budget. Ok, he's not won a trophy but to consistently finish top 5-8 is nothing short of astonishing on a net spend of £1.2m a season. I know more about quantum physics than you know football {Ed063's Note - Moyes is a magnificent manager}

Do I detect a touch of sarcasm there 063 ? {Ed063's Note - Haha actually none. Moyes really is an amazing manager; and when United or Chelsea or whoever eventually come knocking for him Everton will be in a lot of trouble.}

Methinks onions is just making banter mate, try it sometime instead of just being bitter, oh wait.......
huddz red

Ahoy - As per Collins English Dictionary crabby
Definitions - adjective - bad-tempered

Not one implication of being a poor manager just an implication that he is Ginger and bad tempered as defined by his hair and a light hearted look at the Goodison signs.

As an aside the word Banter might be one to look up also.

BOILED ONIONS

And what is bitter about pointing out the fact Moyes is a fantastic manager who has earned deserved respect from the majority of people in the game. There's always one ! Boiled (my black cat is blacker than yours) Onions. Definitions, definitions

26 Oct 2012 23:30:00
Ed63 mate I'm sure Moyes can't handle big clubs or big players when your at big club you need to handle lots of things especially players ego and moyes is very, very poor at that at the same time he has a bad reputation dealing with his own players if you look in premier league era moyes has more trouble dealing with players then anyother manager. At the same time he has ruined lots of everton young players by training them badly rather then managing them properly if you don't trust me you can ask ed1 thanks

On another aside may I suggest you have a butcher's at person and clueless. Not necessarily in that order. Ok buttercup

Moyes has trouble dealing with his own players ? You been on the hard stuff I think pal. The only person he's had any sort of trouble with was one RR Drenthe and I'd bet most managers would show him short shrift. The team spirit he endorses and man management skills are second to none and every player who's played for him hasn't got a bad word to say about him and have given him their last drop of sweat

Moyes is a decent manager but is also a ginger troll. I cant wait for him to leave the bitters and go to United where he will be gash and get sacked. Then return to manage Everton in the championship and maybe, just maybe win a trophy

26 Oct 2012 18:55:54
Hope the young inexperienced boy's can block out the terrace hate on Sunday and just concentrate on their game

Your teams not significant enough to hate

Significant enough for you to waste your precious time on our site, let me guess "sad bitter"?

Yet significant enough for comment

Nice of you all to take the bait that was just far to easy.

26 Oct 2012 18:46:34
Hope we don't go for Hooper.

I'd be more than happy if come the end of January we end up with hunterlaar.

LAVERS

I think Huntelaar is perfect for lfc with the amount of chances we do create he could end the season with over 20 goals.

26 Oct 2012 18:36:07
My opinion would be Reina's the better keeper on Best form, but he aint had that for ages. So i'ld play the much improved Jones ahead of him on Sunday-just!

26 Oct 2012 18:32:14
I agree with some others on here i'ld drop Gerrard for Shelvey

All the would be managers

Not a pro in the game would drop Gerrard and yet many on here want to drop him all the time.

ITs begs the question - are you for real?

Sour Puss

Never gerrard is always at his irresistable best against everton.
derryred

David (Moyes) is that you?

26 Oct 2012 18:28:53
How much do you think brendan Rodgers will be given as a transfer kitty ? And what are the cha¿nces of munian or erickson?

Why would those players want to join a mid table team?

Mid table team...well that rules out everton then.

He's talking about Liverpool derry, d'uh. Everton don't have yankee doodle dandy's bankrolling them

Anything which is'nt First or Last, is Mid-table.

26 Oct 2012 18:25:37
Just watching Liverpool F.C.tv, don't neccessarily agree with Didi or Wright-that Allen and Suso have to come back for Shelvey and Assaidi. In particular think Asaidi has to play!

26 Oct 2012 16:54:44
I'm expecting the same as usually happens this weekend in the derby. Lots of wind from the bitters on and off the park but then at some point in the game they will remember who they are and who we are and they will be overawed again.
Obviously they have the occasional shock result (usually when they manage a draw) but the reality is they all know to a man who the big team is despite their bravado.

Chris in Tamworth

One of your posters accused US of being cocksure and arrogant ! If this isn't the same coming from you lot I don't know what is. There must be jealousy in the air in Tamworth I suggest Christopher as you KNOW Everton are the better side at the moment. Just swallow it me old chum then perhaps the result will not be so bitter afterwards

Yeah, spot on mate, like when we finished above them last year. Hang on...

You're talking out of your backside my friend.! Or is that your face ? Must be a lot of jealousy in the air in Tamworth eh Chris ? It would do you no harm to accept that we're just a far superior outfit than yourselves, that way it won't be so hard to take when we play you off the park

26 Oct 2012 19:00:17
Have you looked at the table...bitter...are you serious...we have the best banter in the country and such a closeness like brothers like many family's have supporters of both teams...these people you refer to as bitters etc are the same ones who yes wind us up like all brothers do but in our hour of need they have always been there even lately with that fine tribute at Goodison...I'm sure when your team has done well and your rival has failed you take great pleasure in winding them up...we all do...so what's makes you different...so we're either all bitter as merseyside fans or great wind up merchants with a great sense of humour who can love n hate our brother all in one. (Gujo...toffee bhoy)

Gujo, nice sentiments what a shame your fellow supporters come on here regularly and disprove your point.
What I was saying was actually banter, the fact that I posted it in such a way as to sound arrogant was done on purpose as a "wind up" in response to the evertonians who had been on earlier trying to get a reaction.
Truth be told I still see our derby as the friendly derby, it's a shame some of the younger fans are turning it nasty just lately.
That said there is still one irrefutable fact and that is regardless of the result on Sunday one of us is a legend in world football and the other is not.
Just saying

Chris in Tamworth

Face it you're not the force you once were. We're going places and you are getting left behind. In all honesty, there's not a single player I'd take from your team and put into ours. Maybe I'd take Suarez if he wasn't such a blatant cheating little rat but he is what he is and you must be so proud he's dragging your club down.

I agree it is disrespectful to call them bitters, after last years 3-1 victory i had a great nights craic with a few evertonians as well.
derryred

ANY everton fan would jump at the chance to have suarez, suso, sterling, assaidi, agger, skrtel, reina, gerrard, allen, sahin, shelvey, johnson... dont get me wrong there are a few players from everton i wud like etc.. jelavic, fellaini, baines, but overall liverpools team at the mo is a very raw talent which in time will grow into a strong competitive team competing at levels everton havent competeted at since the 80's ... everton do not have the power to do anything but temporarily punch above their weight... YNWA lads

26 Oct 2012 16:11:14
Ed, Please post this.

From what i know

We are looking at a Striker that can finish, and is good with the ball at the feet

Brendan will assess the left back situation with regards Enrique/Downing/Johnson and decide whether he needs a new one. I expect that decision to be made in the summer, along with others.

Expect 1/2 signatures in January

Yes, we need a prolific proven striker. I suspect BR and his scouts will unearth a gem who does not cost too much and will quickly fit into the LFC's style of play, similar to Assaidi, although he's a winger. Assaidi was bought for around 3 million and looks to have bags of ability. A shrewd purchase from BR, which demonstrates that he could be a canny operator in the transfer market....more than can be said for several other former LFC managers!
I really don't think we need reinforcements at the back, the youngsters that have come in look more than capable. If Brenden does buy, I think it will either be another striker or a creative midfielder. The type of creative midfielder we lack is a quick, skillfull playmaker or a great passer of the ball. YNWA

We have a creative midfielder, quick skill full and a great passer. His name is Suso.
CQ

I think Suso would be most effective as a cam. He can finish, dribble, quick on the turn, and can even hit a long ball if needed. Very David Silva esque in my eyes

26 Oct 2012 16:10:01
Hearing that we are looking for Gary Hooper, I for one don't think he is the striker we need, we need a proven mature goal scorer. And it's worth to spend all our funds available in January for that striker.

For me a proven player like Roberto Soldado,
Klass Jan Huntelar, Demba Ba will be the ideal signing.
Who can come directly into Starting XI and make a difference!

Bosco

I really don't want Hooper.

If we are look at bringing in a striker I would much prefer us going for one of the below who are nearing the last 6 months of their contract or could potentially leave their clubs at a low fee. I'm not saying they would decide to join us, but it would still be worth enquiring.

F. Llorente. By January he will be in the last 6 months of his deal and could sign a pre contract agreement for the summer or leave at a reduced fee in jan.

K. Jan Huntelaar. Exactly same situation as Llorente, but I would say more attainable.

L. Barrios. In dispute with his current club in China, and could either leave for free or at a reduced fee.

M. Zarate. Unsure if he is currently on loan or the details of the loan if he is (6 or 12 months). He is not wanted by his club and would be allowed to leave for a reduced fee.

T. Walcott. Same situation as first two strikers, except the part about signing a pre contract in jan. I do doubt he will join us but again still worth a try.

D. Sturridge. Same as Walcott and I think the more attainable out of the two.

Don't forget we still have an abundance of young talent that at some point is gonna break through too.
Our youngsters in my opinion really are only second to Barcas. The academy now has a wealth of talent at all ages and I can see very soon we will be producing talent like Ajax did.

Jonesred

Hooper dosent look good enough to me

They will not come! Better teams placed at the min

Hooper has a high conversion rate in the cl,i think he is quite prolific.

Raheem scored against reading and told stevie there's a new king and then he told Suarez he needs one chance to score not 5. Stevie told him to stop talking.Reading players said he was commenting on himself during the game saying what a great goal by the new boy wonder lol.

If you read that story again you will see that it's made up and even says so at the end , still made me laugh tho

Its was on fourfourtwo he was commenting in a scot voice.

I expect a good win for Everton on Sunday, you lot will put it up to us for about 20 mins and that will be just derby heat.I expect Sterling will not know what hit him when he hears the Goodison roar.Honestly i have never been as confident going into a derby as i am this weekend i expect nothing less than for us to give you a good pasting.Yes i admit that young lad Sterling is a quality player but this game will have come too soon for him.But the form were showing playing at home will be too much for you i really hope we give you a good lesson in football because it has been long overdue.PS seen you Sunday my red neighbours make sure you bring your hankies you will need them.Stef the blue

Thanks for the comedy. 18 years and counting.

Mighty reds

Ha ha oh I forgot it's your cup final this weekend isn't it. You are a sad lot you blues it makes me laugh how obsessed you are with us

And you will still be counting in another 18 years ,with no premier league trophy haha in your trophy room.Stef the blue

You lot were as confident in the run up to last seasons fa cup semi too, everton are always at this big mouthing nonsense, 3 games against us last season and bluetits thought you were going to win them and they all ended up as 3 comfortable wins for the reds. as for the godison roar, sterling will be probably worried the the old creaking woodworm infested wodison is about to crash down around him

notter

Hey Notter were is Godison never heard of that place .Stef the blue

If Raheem can play comfortably against Manchesters City and United, I think he'll be ok against you lot.

Let's hope Everton are as bad as Stef the Blue's grasp of grammar, because if that is the case we've got an easy 10-0 win.

Stef the blue how sad is it when all you blues party in the chepstow whan uninted win something as ive said for years you are all BTJs thats BITTER TWISTED AND JEALOUS of the mighty LFC

from theturxx whos back and is shooting from the lip

Stef the blue I am worried that the derby is getting to you. Please look after your health I know how much we get to the bitters.

Mighty reds

Cheers JFT 96 i expected nothing else than a reply of something like that from you ...always a bit personal with ya .

What's this about grammar ? Got nothing to do with football. ! You're obviously superior to the rest of us mere mortals I take it JP ? Get a grip and behave.

I cant stop laughing at the trophies comment.its not like you have an overflowing trophy cabinet.

Everton have just received a £3,000,000 electricity bill...Reports say Howard Kendall left the light on in the trophy room.............

What I don't understand though is why rodgers played suarez and gerrard for 90minutes..they didint have a fantastic game and weren't bad either..he should have removed allen for gerrard not shelvey.cos jonjo aint starting on sunday..and suarez I just hope we don't have anoda arsenal on our hands for sunday..

The club pay there wages so the manager can use them when he wants. We won so the selection was right for that game.

Mighty reds

Im pretty sure BR feels anzhi is a more dangerous opponent compared to other teams in their group. he fielded quite a strong team.

i too hope that he would drop gerrard for other midfielder to take turns. i would like to see how we do without him. although the main reason i want him dropped from the game vs anzhi was so that he could be fully fit for everton game. the derby is incomplete without gerrard..

Kaizer

I don't understand this. Other teams/players don't seem to have much of an issue starting largely the same first team in mid-week and then playing the same on the weekend. Look at City or Chelsea in the CL- pretty much the same teams with a few small changes each time. Professional footballers should be more than capable of playing most games.

So many games in a season, no point playing 3 games straight then get injured for 3 months, we have enough injured players. especially looking at his injury record lately. not every player is a kuyt.

Kaizer

We are playing on SUNDAY. The day after tomorrow. Plenty of time for them to recover and its not like they need to travel far. Jdg

Has any1 mentioned skrtels fly kick?! Or have yous all adopted tony pulis eyes? And on the Suarez free kick, the 1 he got booked bcoz he said it was a diversity the ref, the commentators stuck up for him and said he got booked as he was trying to get the ref to not yellow card the opponent...not exactly media hatred towards lfc there!?

Perth!

Eh?

"he said it was a diversity the ref", please explain to me what you mean Perth!

Couldn't read past that point unfortunately,

Hi Eds,
This maybe not related or a tough one, but since Warrior became our kit provider, has sales increased or decreased? Here in Malaysia, we have seen only a local shop that's provides the original kit of LFC. Have we made breakthrough in American market? Sorry if this is not related. Just tot I may ask u all.
Thanks Eds.
Samsaliva from Malaysia {Ed002's Note - By the nature of there being a new kit sales would have increased. The US market will be no different than before - sales of kits will never be high and support will be regional. However, you need to remember that sales of kit does not generate income from Liverpool unless it is through club related channels.}

Do you reckon the bookies will do a special bet on how many times Suarez will be on his arse in the Derby? I reckon ten or more times. Then at least his theatrics would be worth a few quid! Last night he did take a tumble a few times when he could of stayed up!

Evo YNWA

If they did then they would go Bankrupt ...

Thats why, mate, they can suspend the betting. Duh..

Good result last night played well but why us there never anyone in the box!! Also just wanna ask you guys who you thought man of the match was? For me it was a toss up between wisdom and assaidi

Assiadi played amazing! hes certainly a future star

Simple....we don't have a fox in the box and this has resulted in a lack of self belief throughout the team when in front of goal. Not helped by Suarez needing 10 shots off target to score one goal! Don't get me wrong, I love Suarez but he is no finisher, he's more of a creator and I still feel his best position would be out wide or in the hole. But because we have no real back-up strikers we rely heavily on Suarez. Hopefully the wingers and central midfielders can join in, that's why it was so important Sterling scored against Reading and Downing scored last night.

26 Oct 2012 13:32:52
suarez, how many chances does he need to score ,come on i cant be the only thinking he needs 6chances to score 1,hed be better of playing in behind the main striker because he can create achance out of nothing ,when he scores there world class goals but the amount of chances he misses is un real, theres abit of garcia about him great we player but very frustrating to watch some times, give morgan or yesil arun of 5r6 games up top with suarez in behind put it this way weve nothing to lose could save us afew million come january irish red

I dont care how big a name Pepe Reina is, He's had a poor season so far and made mistakes that have cost us points, Brad jones has kept clean sheets and has adapted well to BR philosophy.

So based on form and earning a place in the team Brad Jones should be 1st choice based on those above facts.

Wounder if BR will pick Jones because he deserves it OR Reina because he's reputedly better ?

Id pick jones.

Also Wisdom was VERY impressive last night, Fast, Strong, Quick, Good in the pass, And can anyone count how many times he prevented the opposition even breaking away or preventing a goal scoring opportunity, Bad points he was unsure in attack as he seemed to look for a player to pass 5 yards to instead of going down the line to cross or cut inside and run at the back 4 ala Johnson at RB.

Suarez predictable costly, He must not have had a good night sleep before as he seemed to always be lying down on the pitch, TBH he was embarrasing last night he's better than that and needs to play like it.

Fancy a comfy 2-0 win on Sunday..The bitters will be getting there excuses in as normal. J4T96

Not a chance will be a very close game can see a draw they have been scoring a lot but their defence has looked shaky at times and suarez will exploit that: 2-2

26 Oct 2012 12:51:44
JUST IMAGINE a TOP Striker in that side last night with the chances we created. A real poacher 'would love it, just love it' in that side {Ed052's Note - O dear, I really hope Ed001 and Ed063 dont see this, I have just been telling them this exactly...}

26 Oct 2012 13:20:52
Brendan Def needs to have some balls and drop Gerrard though! He was shocking last night! Gave away to many balls or just ran into people giving it away! Sahin looked immense though! Him Allen and shelvey are the future!!

Mangasuicide

"a real poacher" you mean like Jelavic! Will score a couple past you lot on sunday and please pick Reina...hes shocking!

I reckon we should have a pop at signing dzecko(or however you spell it) this guy was awesome in the German league and Mancini would rather play aguero, tevez, ballotelli and if they planning to raid Chelsea for falco it would give them the extra cash to fund such a ridiculas priced move and the lad is hungry he wants first team football and getting sick at citeh of the lack of opportunities he's getting and the lads a true poacher and can fin the back of the net

Jayblair89 YNWA

I was under the impression Falcao played for Athletico Madrid and not Chelski

Mangasuicide! you are right about Gerrard i've never seen a player give the ball away so may time's other than Gerrard! And that's not just last night it's nearly every game he play's!

Reina is as shocking as your trophy cabinet.

HESKEY ANYONE, He Is doing a great at job at Newcastle jets, 3 goals in 3 games for HESKEY, what are the chances eds

BILLY {Ed052's Note - Funnily enough, we have been keeping a tab on him as a short term solution for the January window. It is felt that another tall player who cant score in the Premier League is just what we need. The NEwcastle Jets are willing to let him go to, should he agree to wearing a wig with a ponytail. It is thought they believe that the wig could increase his price tag....}

He would be your best striker if he joined! COYB

Heres a few stats on a few players people wanted gone in the Summer..

Downing - Has only really played in the Europa league, and has 2 goals (both good goals) and 3 Assists. 5 goals hes had a key role in!

Shelvey - 3 goals and 1 assist. two of his goals were phenominal, and the other a good late arrival into the box. Also mainly featured in the Europa league.

Henderson - Another Europa league regular, who can stake a claim on 2 assists and one of the highest distances ran per minute in the tournament. He's finally adding some end product to all that effort.

Jones - Rarely played as you would expect but has 3 clean sheets in all competitions in comparison to Reinas 1 in a lot more games. Has Pepe finally got some competition now Brad can focus on football?

I re-call a lot of people wanting these four sold in the summer, even referring to them as dead wood.. But if you take these 3 outfield players out, thats about 6 goals lost (as some of their goals and assits were by linking up with eachother). Thats quite a good haul from our 7 Europa games so far this year. So next time you call somebody deadwood, think again. Its a squad game.

YNWA! (Adam)

Totally agree its a squad game i always thought hendo and jonjo would make the grade downing is a player when he is on his game but he is not one to rely on

Hendo is 22. You leave.

I read this on Lawro's BBC Predictions "Everton fans can look at their team at the moment and say 'I wouldn't take many Liverpool players in our side', which is always an interesting thing to do when you look at these games. Liverpool fans would take more Everton players at the moment."

Do the Liverpool fans on here really agree with that last sentence?

Liverbird {Ed052's Note - LMAO no haha. I am sure Everton would love Suarez, Allen, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson and Sahin.}

I'm sure they'd take sterling, Suso, Assaidi, Pepe and Gerrard too.

They would rather have Jelevic than Suarez, Fellaini than Allen, jagielka than agger, Howard than reina, Baines etc

Big Mac

I'm sure many toffee's would look at his haircut and say the same ! Tobiwan

Evertons last 6 games have been against teams in the bottom half of the table lol. They are where they are because they had an easy start. In contrast, we had statistically the hardest start to the Premier League out of every team, and find ourselves just 6 points off 4th place.

We'll see come christmas.

YNWA! (Adam)

26 Oct 2012 12:44:12
Can't think of many of their players that I'd take to be honest, maybe Baines, Fellaini and Jelavic. Certainly as a previous poster mentioned would never swap Agger for Jagielka, not in a million years. I would like their strike options, but in a 4-3-3 would never swap any of their strikers for Suarez in a first 11. I'm actually pretty happy with our starting 11, we're getting better all the time. Lawro is a person anyway...

Sterling Jelavic Suarez
Sahin Lucas Allen
Baines Agger Skrtel Wisdom
Reina

Fellani wouldn't even get in when Lucas is fit..

YNWA! (Adam)

Big Mac you are wrong in so many way mate. Our squad has much more quality than theirs. We just don't have a clinical finisher whereas they do...jelavic.

I would have Baines and that's it!
Murray

Ah yes is lawro looking for attention again notice me! Notice me! I'm stil relevant! There there mark go & have a little lie down and watch hoddle & waddle perform "diamond lights" on YouTube sweet memories sweet mullets mark.....,

Jelavic is better than Suarez, Baines over Enrique, Howard over Reina, Fellaini over Allen, Jagielka over Agger...

26 Oct 2012 14:18:42
Oh come on...saying Agger is better than Jagielka might make you feel better, but it's just unrealistic - Agger is absolute class! I'm by no means saying Jagielka isn't, but when fit Agger could get into any side in the world. He is a class above most other central defenders in the league.

Fellaini, Baines, Howard, Jelavic, Mirallas, Pienaar, Jagielka would all walk into your team let alone squad no problems. Let's not be deluded now chaps.

Id rather listen to boring alan shearer commentating on a 24 hour football match rather than listening to 10 minutes of mark lawrenson talking about bullcrap!

Why is this guy saying Baines over Enrique? So basically, you are replacing a substitute? Yep, you are right in that respect....

Piledriver

Baines is a class act. but johnson isn't a weak link in our team anyway. Jelavic would probably get in for his poaching ability. they are definitely the only 2

Thats why lawrensons career as a manager was so successful oxford utd chased him and that was it.Tommy Irish Red

Don't think DM would tolerate Suarez for a start. Allen wouldn't get in ahead of Gibbo or Fellaini, would be a good squad player though. Would take Johnson maybe, Sahin is not your player and I wouldn't say there's much difference between Heitinga, Jagielka, Distin, Agger and Skrtel. But if push came to shove and they were in the trenches, as it were, I'd take Johnny H and Phil Jags.

Is the reason there isn't 'much difference between Heitinga, Jagielka, Distin, Agger and Skrtel' because it take three of your defenders to be a good as two of ours?

davethebutcher

My team would be this:

Sterling Jelavic Suarez
Sahin Lucas Allen
Baines Agger Skrtel Wisdom
Reina

How Everton fans can say that they'd prefer Heitinga, Jagielka and Distin ahead of Agger and Skrtel is beyond me. The same with how they think Pienaar is better than Sterling. Baines is world class and would definitely walk into our squad as well as Jelavic because of our need of a goalscorer. Fellaini is top class but we have a top class midfield so I really can't fit him in but he'd be the first sub.

BthekingB

Just swap the Names of the Clubs will that do

Classic quote " Allen would not get in front of Gibbo or Fellaini"
Darren Gibson is absolute pants...
Ok Allen and Fellaini are good players but to suggest Gibson in the same sentence is hilarious.... Its like saying our favourite player ever is Paul Stewart (nods to ed001)....

Ed's - I thought Assadi was excellent last night and I hope he is given the opportunity against Everton. We have had so many wingers in the past who have failed to impress, however, Assadi has a number of qualities which will serve him well. The key for me is he's intelligent. He seems to know when to take on his man, when to play the simple pass, when to make the run etc. All this for 3 million!! I know it's early days but BR has found unearthed a talent in Assadi...YNWA

His bit of skill when he beat the last defender with a through the leg back flick from a long pass was unbeliveable ! He could have had a few more shots if he was selfish but he was defo MOTM. Tobiwan

how can some ov you condone suarez pathetic dives and attempt at conning the ref then go give other teams abuse about diving, you are all deluded, all teams have them but not as bad as that hamster, he should wear boots on his arsecheeks.

How long has it been since you won ANYTHING? I'd worry about you're own teams failings if i was you son!

Poor wee johngooner. I'm never getting these wasted seconds back, replying to a child on his day off who supports the most delusional team in the league...arsenal. The prosecution rests. Bye bye you total clown

Still feeling a little upset about the Schalke game are we? Needed to blow off some steam? Don't worry son, you'll be ok in a few days.

Arsenal have had some of the best divers and cheats since the premier began ! The cheek of him ! Tobiwan

Schalke would never have beaten us two nil at anfield in the champions league.

26 Oct 2012 13:33:50
We don't condone all of his behaviour, but we understand his mentality and footballing upbringing where an aspect of the game is encouraging other players to make contact so you can go down and 'win' a penalty or free kick. He is also very good at 'winning' corners and own goals, because in the south American game you win at all costs - here in England if it is not concerning our own team it is considered cheating. However I don't see why you are so concerned as he is well and truly suffering as now he gets nothing from the ref at alL and other players well and truly exploit this ...he is no worse than many, many other players in the league, it's just he plays every week for a team other teams supporters love to hate...

'Schalke would never have beaten us two nil at anfield in the champions league'

No they would have beaten you 6 nil.

At least Arsenal are in the UCL

Ha!pires!!! & you signed Jeffers !!! Luvly jubbly cushty!!

Arsenal hav been in the ucl since forever yet, they never have and never will win it. no point being in a competition if ur just there to make up the number

Arsenal are only in the champs league for the revenue aren't they? I mean they all know they'll never win it right?

I like Arsenal as a club but there fans don't half blow out a lot of hot air. Got a mate whose a gunner and he's the same. So self righteous because they're 'run the rigt way'.' There's a reason why all you guys best players leave and it's not just for the money. Bunch of also rans.

Hi Eds good day to you all

I would just like to say what is all this cockyness coming from everton all about ok they are 6 pints ahead of us but you would think all they have to do is turn up on sunday and they are going to stuff us. so c,mon the pool i think especially suarez is dew a good day at office in front of goal maybe do a rushie 1982 on them will be fine.Tommy Irish Red

26 Oct 2012 13:40:13
I don't want to speculate at the moment, Everton are a good side, and don't forget they beat United as well as the other 'easy' fixtures...bearing in mind in this league there are no easy fixtures, any team can beat any other team on their day, it's a battle of consistency rather than a battle of quality. We tend to turn up against our neighbours so I'm hoping we will give them a good game and come out with the 3 points, but honestly, it could go either way

Where's this arrogance and 'cockiness' you speak of coming from us Evertonians ? I don't see any on these pages. Will be a tight game imo and wouldn't surprise me at all if we lost. There will be no excuses. Let the battle commence and may the best team win. But for what it's worth I'm going for a 2-1 Everton win !

Well i was just reading a quote from miralas r whoever he is about big hair coming back and liverpool should be very afraid. im sure suarez gerrard johnson allen reina sahin agger skrtel to name but a few have faced far better players in their careers and will again thats were the cockyness im on about comes about ps usual 3 points will do us again i think and if you win the dvd will be on sale within aweek.Tommy Irish Red

26 Oct 2012 10:45:59
Obviously our squad isn't big enough to challenge for every trophy at the moment so we need to make it bigger and stronger. I think we have a fantastic manager in Rodgers who values a £1 ( about time). With this in mind what positions in the team need strengthening? As he plays 4 3 3 for me we need cover for Suarez, a right wing , big strong centre midfield and a left back. Walcott covers 2 position, Neil Taylor from Swansea is fantastic if he recovers from his leg break . The midfielder is a difficult one as I think we are small and lightweight in that department as only Gerrard and Shelvey have any size and physicality.

Rasmus elm?

In January all we need is a STRIKER! Do not over complicate things...just a quality striker. {Ed052's Note - Not in January we dont}

26 Oct 2012 10:39:34
Was anyone else laughing when Suarez finally got a freekick and then turned to the ref and said it was a dive? Haha. I was crying laughing, love the little, petulant fooker.

JimmyHustle

Probably best if he keep his trap shut for a bit I reckon. Refs hate enough already.

davethebutcher

I am kinda getting annoyed with Luis now he earned himself this reputation and does not seem to care but this will harm the club also... The media will take any excuse to beat us and he is just giving them a bigger stick to beat us with.. He needs to keep his hands by his side a not be waving them about everytime player that rubs up again him.The lad has skill and plenty of times when he was chopped down i seen him jump back up a win the ball.. A little bit more of that Luis please

26 Oct 2012 10:35:01
Just wanted to get Eds n Reds views on Suarez. Great player and love watching him but just a bit concerned about his reaction every time he doesn't get the ball or someone doesn't do what he wants. Bearing in mind the players he is playing with are 17-22 and/or new to the club, the arms in the air, screaming at them technique is probably not the best way to help them improve and do better next time. It might work if he was banging them in but he's certainly not tucking a high % of his chances away. Anyone who has been in the game for a good period can hold their hand up and say "ok bad pass" but it could take a chunk out of the confidence of a kid who's trying hard and giving his best.

Simon {Ed052's Note - Well, I dont as such mind Sarez getting fustrated, but one thing, I only noticed for the first time yesterday was him going down. Normally, I feel he is unfairly criticised for going down too easily etc, and always saw a strong player trying to stay on his feet. However, yesterday he just went down too easily. And yes, he sometimes does a bit too much complaining and not enough teamwork. However, we cant complain, we have on of the best players in the world right now, so I think we can put up with it}

I think some of it comes down to him feeling he has to do it all on his own. If he was playing with a player he knew could finish im sure he would set them up a lot more. Yesterday he set up shelvey and shelvey hit the ball halfway to lime street station. Some of his frustration he looks to play with must come down to the players he has around him at times jdog

It's just that for 2 games in a row I have seen him tear a strip off Sterling for not giving him the pass and Sterling looking pretty upset as he tried to defend himself. (Not sure if that is just Sterling's face or if he really is upset) but Sterling for 17 has been brilliant for us. There is no way he will make every correct decision in every game but he makes better ones 9 times out of 10 than some of our other experienced players.
Totally agree with you jdog - but if you give them a clap, tell them the run was good but keep your head over the ball next time, they might do it better. Throwing your hands in the air and screaming at them probably wont help, they know they messed up and feeling like Suarez also thinks they are crap is not going to decrease the pressure next time they get an opportunity. Hopefully they know Suarez wears his heart on his sleeve and 2 seconds later its forgotten.

Simon

Interesting that Rodgers should send a scouting team to watch Hooper in a relatively easy match , away to Barcelona .

Did you know that Hooper's agent , Beratung , also acts for other emerging players , Lionel Messi , Sergio Ramos , Juan Mata and Arjen Robben ?

I wouldn't say that they were emerging! They have all been around for 5 years or more the names u mentioned

26 Oct 2012 11:18:24
It was a joke

Dear oh dear poster number two

Who says the scout was there to watch Hooper..... would you really send a scout to watch a striker who is playing all alone up front against one of the best teams in the world, where he will get very little of the ball...maybe! {Ed052's Note - Maybe to see what he does with the ball when he gets it, and to see how he copes against harder opposition, like he would face in the Premiership}

Yeah good point Ed suppose you can see what he does with the ball any weekend it scotland {Ed052's Note - But, from everything that I know about Hooper is that he is so so lazy. So from that I wouldn't expect us to move for him purely based on that}

26 Oct 2012 10:29:18
Tough game on sunday lads, Everton if were all honest aren't a rubbish side in fact they are very good but i think we have enough quality to kick on a sneak a 1-0 or 2-0 win

Cant see a clean sheet it will be difficult if iwas offered a draw now i would bite your hand off so we can regroup and get more quality in on jan.

26 Oct 2012 10:24:57
Downing looks better at left back

Yeah that was some pass across the backline wonder would you be writing that if they had have scored imo he is a winger and would not have him at left back ahead of jack robinson r glenn.Tommy Irish Red

Downing played ok but when he reverted to left back but he did play one or two risky passes, especailly the one to Skertl, which could have resulted in a goal for Anzi. I like the fact that BR instructs his fullbacks to push forward and Downing could grow into the position. However, Downing's end distribution is usually poor with very little end product. Good goal last night but I remian unconvinced.

Yeah seriously that ball across the goal and it was a soft pass at that.... Won't get away with that too often

Downing... Looked better at Aston villa.

Assaidi HAS to feature in'The Derby',excellent showing. He offered speed, movement, great tricks and ability to beat a man while at pace. Aint many of his ilk about nowadays. A real threat, that's needed uptop. He opens things up. Imagine Sterling one side, him the other. And i prefer (now Stevies older) Jonjo in forward attacking role driving at opposition/Everton. Stevie deeper, starting attacks from deep, whilst helping protect back 4. Also Wisdom excellent pace and reading of game last night

26 Oct 2012 09:40:20
Id like to see the team that finished the game last night start Sunday . Looked well balanced through out ! Thought Jones did all he could didn't have much to do but did a tidy job should stay in at least till he concedes bit unfair drop him after two clean sheets . very promising would like to see a out and out goal potcher come in fox in the box kind of player that will release suarez in to a more free role . Anyways loving the style were thing to implicate lets keep the faith and support our team through this period of transition . thanks YNWA

I would stick Pepe back in if fit. But if he continues fluffing his lines well then bench him, he knows now that there is someone ready to take his place

Hi eds! Fantastic performance from assaidi last night i hope thats a sighn of things 2 come from him seems like a fantastic buy from brendan! Well stewart downing i thought he played very well at left back for the second half and a great finish i quess only time will tell if he can perform consistantly in this posistion i must say i would have thought stewart was one of those players who needs an arm around him rather than being critsised hats off 2 brendan it seems 2 have worked fingers crossed!now that leads me 2 jose enrigue i thought he was fantastic 1st half of last season and i know he lost his form in 2nd half of season but i would say he is a brendan style of player and fits perfect in his system i know he has had a few injurys but he is back training and last night would have been ideal 2 get some match fitness strange!eds do u know if suso and sterling have sighned new contracts i am very concerned we could lose these 2 for me they have the potential 2 be top class players ??? Thanks king kenny {Ed063's Note - Suso has signed a new contract. Sterling hasn't yet but almost certainly will}

Is it just me or does anyone else think Sterling actually needs a rest for a few games?

BrisbaneLFC

I liked Assiadi last night. To me though we need more of a goal threat from the 2 wide players up front. Both sterling and Assiadi are tricky players and a handful but if Suarez has an off day we are a bit short of firepower . I cannot see assaidi or strrling getting 10 plus a season. the 3 up top all need to be a goal threat and this is why we are outplaying but not always beating teams. So yes maybe Assiadi deserves a start but only because we have nothing better

Yeah i think maybe a game here and a game there, i would bench him against toffees put on someone with a bigger build and around 60mins take of the leash and set him on them tried legs couldn't handle a fresh sterling

I have to admit that when we signed Assaidi I thought whooooooooo BUT the guys beginning to prove me wrong. A quick and direct winger who always seems to be an outlet for the team. Personally I'd like to see him run a t Evertons defence on Sunday. Looks a decent player

Yea and leighton baines is a good player but he struggles against players with raw pace . he or sterling could be very effective at RW on sunday.

A good win last night, solid performance, a few things.....

1)We looked solid at the back throughout, especially in the first half, although Stewy was took on a few times but nothing major, he played well. Agger and Skrtel were rocks! I dont remember them getting one clear cut chance inside the area, maybe 1 at a push, may of missed something.

2)Last night Assiadi looked every bit of that bargain we was looking for, definitely not afraid to take a man on but also not to greedy, my MoM.

3) What a tactical masterstroke to put Downing left back, allowing us to keep on Assiadi while at the same time allowing Sterling to come in the game and boss the right flank, create chances, and I noticed he matched every Anzhi player for physicalityand never got pushed of the ball tonight. And well obviously, Stewy scored from left back.

Anybody else think downing could now grow to become one of the best players to wear the shirt? {Ed063's Note - I think thats a bit dramatic mate. I've always rated him though, he just needs some self belief and he will be good. Perhaps he will push on now}

What shirt? Villa, maybe

Somebody give me some smelling salt as Downing actually scored and a good goal

brendan rodgers rested joe allen and started wid shelvey, i quite like this decision, he should start practising keeping gerrard on the bench as well and giving youngster the chance to start for europa and carlingcup games. our youngsters will get more experience by this.

Evidently it was better than your wednesday night lol. See you in the next phase of the Europa league, where you'll probably get knocked out, the standards a bit high for you lot.

I respect the true reds who come on this site with information that is believable but half of this i Read makes me laugh, I love Liverpool and I am 100% behind BR but I would like to hear some half realistic transfer rumours, thanks.

Well your not going to hear any in October are you? Its laughable that you think you would.

Have to say well done to the reff. I think he handled the match well, and I didn't see one decision wrong...apart from the agger one. If a goal keeper has one hand on the ball you can kick it away and score a goal. Agger headed it and scored and there's no rules against that. Great result, very nervy towards the end but defended really well. Should have got a goal on the break but we always do it the hard way. Downing time to build on that and bring back the form you use to have for Aston villa. When we bought him last summer he was the one I was most exited about, as far to say that I thought he would outshine Ashley young. It wasn't to be but could be a valuable squad player.

Aggers 'goal' was a foul. The ref was spot on. The riles changed about 15 years ago.

Jones to start on Sunday. Big decision if Pepe's fit but I would make it. {Ed063's Note - I agree}

Went my first game in a while tonight!
Decent display and an important win to keep the momentum going!

I thought Assaidi was very good, and good no nonsense from skrtel and wisdom!

Suarez seemed very poor, going down too often, poor first touch and not giving simple ball! He's a top player but needs to buck up his ideas a bit! Stop whinging at everyone!
Overall decent display though!
CHickey.

Thought Assaidi was good but his final ball is lacking sometimes, he is still adapting to the team though so I am not getting on his back, cant deny he is an exciting player who always looks to take some one on, something we have been lacking in our squad for a while.
Agree with the Suarez comment, trying to do it all on his own tonight.

could someone explain to me what exaclty was wrong with aggers goal tonight? i felt it was fairly legit i mean the keeper one had one hand on the ball as such!
westcorkred

Aggers goal was not legit. If the keeper has the ball in one hand it's deemed as being in control and therefore a foul if you take the ball from him. It used to be that the keeper had to have the ball in 2 hands to be deemed under control but the rule changed years ago.

This is not legal anymore. From FIFA's "Interpretation of Laws of the Game: Law 12" (page 116) A goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball:

¢ while the ball is between his hands or between his hand and any surface (e.g. ground, own body)

¢ while holding the ball in his outstretched open hand

¢ while in the act of bouncing it on the ground or tossing it into the air When a goalkeeper has gained possession of the ball with his hands, he cannot be challenged by an opponent.

There are always lots of posts about us not having a real striker. My reply to this is that other players have to step up to the plate. Suarez misses lots of chances but at least he is having a go and I personally believe that more goals will come from him. The problem is that goals only seem to come from the 'strikers'. If you look at the last couple of seasons the goals are not coming from the midfield or even defenders. The only players we would expect (or hope) to score are Suarez, Gerrard, Sahin, and Shelvey all who have been guilty of missing reasonable chances over the past few games. Last season we were hitting the woodwork a lot but this season we don't seem to be getting even that near. I believe that the goals will come sooner (hopefully) or later. There's an old expression "You wait ages for a bus to come along and then three come at once". Before any persons make a comment I will say that this analogy will soon be proved right with regard to the goals. It won't be too long before the likes of Melanie Bourne won't even dare to come on to this site because they will have nothing constructive or intelligent (just like now, really!) to say. KTF

Only rodgers knows why assaidi doesn't start our prem. Matches..and for u dumbfolks saying suarez was a disgrace..most of u aren't true fans.. for the past two seasons he has been our top scorer.why don't the rest of the team score more and stop giving suarez the job of creating and scoring..we know he is not clinical so quit the damn complaining like suarez just came to liverpool 3months ago..wtf

I just want to make a few things clear - I'm a bit ashamed of a lot of nay-sayers who express themselves here. I don't come to this site to slag off the team, I come to talk about my team, my beloved team. I've watched Liverpool since i was 5 and I've never felt a closer connection to the club as I do now. I've just watched a really good performance from a young team against quality opposition yet all the posts are lukewarm in their support for the players. Loved Suarez's work for the team tonight and i just can't underatnd apparent 'reds' who think he's a 'disgrace'. get the **** away from our sites please, we don't want ylou here. Tonight was a very good night for BR...and yes assaidi was good, but I knew he would be.

Completely agree!

Wasn't a fantastic performance, but clean sheet and Downing scoring a beauty, yet negatives again, sigh.

Some of them are saying, sell in(Suarez) January and buy 2-3 strikers? Really? He's irreplaceable...

Fair weather and arm chair springs to mind.

Sick of it.

The problem is that too many so called fans on here saying we don't have any great players. They are either world class or s***e. It's quite possible to play 2 games in 4 days and be world class and s***e at the same time. I know we have a thin squad but everyone currently at the club is good enough to start if they are at the top of their game. Getting them fit, keeping them healthy and in form is not all that easy at this level. We need to be realistic and we need to support Brendan and the squad. Three clean sheets on the trot, another great goal, some great individual performances and a win to boot. Bring on the bitters.......

Come on people, why all the negativity? We won didn't we? Two home wins in a row, 3rd consecutive clean sheet. Please, let's enjoy the fact we beat a team that are top of the Russian league to go top of our group, and look forward to what I'm sure will be a great match on Sunday.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

We are not very good thats why fans worry and opine its not because they do not love the team but fear a big defeat on the way.
