Hi eds, not necessarily LFC related but is rafa to Napoli reports true?
Also Mourinho to Chelsea?
And who are Madrid and Everton likely to get as their next managers. {Ed002's Note - Try the correct pages please.}

Hi was what teams are interested in Marin? I think he would be perfect for us instead of downing. Being wasted at Chelsea and before people say if he can't get in that team he can't get in ours Chelsea have easily the most promising group of attacking midfielders in the prem probably the world. And sturridge was in a similar position. Can't see him being expensive although I heard he wants to go back to Germany? {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed would love to see him at Anfield.

monaco have laid out close on 130 mil in last few days and with a team that won french 2nd division they must be lookin to add more players to at very least get cl football so there spending could hit 200 mil, the mind boggles at such an outlay. The fact that psg, chelsea and city are also funded by oil money, they wil be sure to throw money around in a contest of biggest wallet these 4 clubs alone could spend half a billion on tansfers alone never mind wages, do any of the eds see this bubble bursting down the road and takin some famous clubs out of existence {Ed001's Note - not really, no, I expect the arrival of online streaming rights to actually raise the bar further.}

Looks like there is going to be a lot of activity for Liverpool in this coming transfer window, both with people coming in and on the way out. I think Rodgers can this Summer prove himself to be a very shrewd operator in the transfer markets following on from January's excellent dealings and I believe in time we will look upon the signings of Allen and Borini from last Summer in a positive frame.

In my opinion there are a few players in particular Liverpool can sell this Summer that would raise transfer funds while also getting high earners of our wage bill. Pepe Reina and Martin Skrtel are two that spring to mind. While I am a huge fan of Reina, I think we can get in excess of 10 million for him and at 30 years of age that is too good to refuse. Vorm or Mignolet would be two potentially good replacements for relatively cheap fees and wages.

Skrtel has really struggled with Rodgers insistence on our centre halfs keeping the ball down and passing it around. I think the club could get a good fee from maybe Zenit or Anzhi or perhaps Rafa may want him at Napoli? He is definitely a player I would sell. Coates surely must be going and his high reputation in Italy may see the club get a half decent fee for him. Obviously there has been a lot of talk in the papers this week of the centre backs Liverpool want and of the 3 in particular mentioned I am happy enough. Papadopoulous really excites me but with the other clubs looking at him we will do well to get him. Regardless of his injury problems I would spend 15 mill on him no problem, he is that good and could be our Vidic. From what I hear though Dortmund are in pole position to get him. Toure on a free adds much needed experience but I hope we are not paying him silly wages. I have seen virtually nothing of Ilori but to break into Sporting Lisbon's side at that age you must be doing something right. Great pace apparently which is a key attribute.

The 15 mill deal agreed with West Ham for Carroll is satisfactory in my eyes. Andy is leaving and I wish him the best for the future. Everyone can move on now. Another player possibly on the way to the Hammers could be Shelvey? I would really listen to any offers for Jonjo this Summer. He isn't going to be what we wanted him to be as a possible replacement for Stevie and I think at this stage he should have shown more ability and stepped up like Henderson did this season. He has undoubted talent but a bid of anything like 6 mill and I'd bite their hands off. James McCarthy of Wigan is a player I'd look to as a possible replacement. He would really suit Rodgers tactics in the middle.

Downing and Assaidi in the wide areas will surely looked to be moved on. I know Downing's performances did improve but I would still take nearly any sort of bid for him. In my eyes he should still command a fee in the 7-10 mill mark. Fulham apparently are interested. Assaidi obviously didn't adapt to English life and football and a return to Holland beckons. Anytime I saw him in the Europa League he impressed me but of course the Premier league is a different kettle of fish entirely. The club should at least get back what they bought him for which was 2.4 mill. Christian Atsu and Iago Aspas are apparently serious targets and I like Aspas. I don't know much about Atsu but he has frightening pace and that is clearly what Rodgers is trying to bring to the team with his signings. pace. It was always something I thought we lacked in Rafa's and Kenny's sides.

Tom Ince looks like he is Spurs bound while Rodgers may try and get a loan signing in like a Tello or Cuenca. Lucas Digne from Lille is a potential target for left back according to the Echo and Telegraph but I guess that signing would depend on remaining funds. Liverpool should have considerable monies if they get anything in the region of fees for the players I mentioned above.

Exciting Summer ahead as Brendan Rodgers really puts his stamp on the side.

What are your thoughts on recently promoted, moneybags MONACO; 60m -Falcao
60m -Moutinho and Rodrigez

Plus city is giving 100m for their next coach and targetting 5 cups in five years ( trying to make ground on us, cough cough 63 cups-Liverpool)

Real Madrid are going to offer 60 million for Bale ( good news for us)

Moyes is going to raid his old team-Fellaini and Baines ( more good news for us) plus Everton are not getting Laudrup ( even more good news)

Its not all doom and gloom fellow kopites : Aparently the directors are happy with Rodgers ( 71 goals compared with 49 last season) and are willing to offer substantially more for transfers: 15-20 million on top of the already allocated 25million. SO BE HAPPY, next season is going to be a hell of a show.

Peace out, hombres

Why is the situation with Everton good news? What good is rivalry if you're not competing against each other? I hope Everyon stay up and in the top half of the table if not for competition then to bring pride back to where it belongs, Merseyside.

I'm a little gutted at the state of affairs at both clubs, and truly hope we will both be up there fighting with each other for supremacy. Everton have a long way to go and will be at the beginning of transformation just like we were.

Who cares about rivalry with Walton f. c.? I would party for a month if they were relegated and stayed relegated.

I've seen you say on here before that they owe us nothing but its all over the Internet today that they do! I trust this site more than any other but a doubt has crept in my mind today regarding the whole thing! Can you clear it up for us once and for all please Ed's? Keep up the quality work! {Ed002's Note - See my previous answers.}

This might seem a trivial point but it annoyed me to see that advertisement flash up during the Champions League game. I remember it happening during a Liverpool v Everton game and they said it was an error, with someone activating it by mistake.

No doubt they will give that excuse again. I don't believe it for a minute as advertisers have been itching to do this sort of thing for years, as they do in the States. Either ITV received a massive payout by the Company to do it and thought they would test the water, or someone inside received a brown envelope to 'accidentally' flick it on.

I think its very important that all football supporters kick up against things like this and make TV companies quite clear that we will never accept advertisements kicking in while the game is in play. If they test the water and get away with it, mark my words, it will be commonplace before we know.

illori/toure
digne/kelly
allen/wanyama/henderson
texeira/suso/tello

I would get the attackers to keep switching positions for fluidity.

It makes me laugh how players always say they are happy and are staying at their club then the next day they've signed for someone new. You've got to respect players like Gerrard and Carra they could have easily tried different teams/leagues or gone for the big money but they've stuck with the club and fans, the respect I have for Stevie and Carra will always be there

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is this Stevie who batted his eyelashes at Chelsea? Just asking.

I don't see what Atsu offers over Ibe, does anyone disagree?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's more experienced than young Jordan.
I'm not too keen on Atsu either, however, if we were to 'add him to the group', I would support both Player and Manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

I rate Ibe. Much more than Sterling but maybe Downing might find himself surplus to requirements?

The Irish Rover

Agree0 Disagree0

AT 21 maybe a bit more experience but talent-wise ibe long term will be a lot better

Lil Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe he's a younger, cheaper squad alternative to Downing?
The Juicer

Agree0 Disagree0

100% agree! Much prefer to play Suso, Sterling, Ibe over Atsu/Apas

Dano

Agree0 Disagree0

Ibe is 17, He should not be thrown into the deep end like Sterling was forced to be. Let him develop and ease him in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Building a squad?

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course I will support anyone who signs too, and I understand that Ibe is to young to start all the time but if we are signing someone with more experience how about getting someone older but better than downing maybe dudzak? (spelling) I would rather keep downing than buy Atsu from what I've seen.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. Atsugi is not a significant improvement on Sterling, Ibe or Downing.

The real AG

Agree0 Disagree0

I've never heard of him. So he isn't going to make a blind bit of progress to this squad. Buying for the sake of it BR. We need better players than what we already have in order to improve results {Ed001's Note - and you can judge a player's quality purely on whether or not you have heard of them can you? Just throwing it out there, but what about a new contract for reina and the vice captaincy? Think the contract would be wise as he's a very good keeper and the vice captaincy because he's a leader

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I checked the date when I read this to see if it was April 1st.

You forgot to mention that he is now a dreadful goalkeeper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nah his heart is elsewhere and he shouldn't be captain

Id be happy for him to stay if he can play good for more than half a season

I'd like to keep him too. His form has improved a lot over the last few months.

Particularly if we think the likes of Vorm and Mignolet are considered an improvement.

I'm not sure on Begovic - I never seemed to notice him in our games against them, maybe that's a good thing. I haven't seen enough of him to judge.

I have been watching the game for a long time.

Every season, some goalkeepers look decent for crap teams - they are forced to make lots of saves which look good on highlights reels.

I have seen endless streams of such mediocre gks be built up by the media, only to be exposed when expectations are raised - Ben Foster, Chris Kirkland etc.

Last year it was Al-Habsi and Vorm - who have both been mediocre this season - at a big club their mistakes would be magnified tenfold.

If I hear the name Alex McCarthy one more time - I'll scream.

One effing game where we hit every shot at him - and now he's good enough to replace Pepe!

The one keeper out of the lower English sides that I do admire is Krul at Newcastle. He has performed consistently for years now and could stake his claim for Holland No. 1 at a club like LFC.

Good on crosses, good shot-stopper, has physical presence, dominates the penalty area and is very calm, vital when playing for a bigger side, where concentration is key. He reminds me a lot of Edwin van der Saar.

Pepe was absolutely superb for 3-4 years for us. Never easy getting a keeper that good. If his form hadn't picked up in recent times, which it has, I would have no problem selling him - I'd be happy to keep him another season and see if he really is back at his best.

If Macca is correct though (and he usually is) - I'd be happy with Krul.

Curious about Begovic though - Is he really good enough?

Answers from people who aren't prone to hype please!

united fan here in peace (maybe), just want to know why you value saurez at 50+ million

Believable0 Unbelievable0

His stats alone speak for themselves? Almost twice as many dribbles as any other player in the premiership. Better goals to game ratio than leagues top scorer RVP. Signed a long term contract back in September and only 26 so still 7 or 8 years left at the top level. Your own club shelled out 24m for Rvp who is soon to turn 30 and was in his last year of contract. doesn't take a genius to work out why Liverpool fans expect 50m.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why don't you give us a reason why shouldn't we value him at 50+ million?

He is one of the most important player at the club and has a tremendous goal-scoring season. To top it off a players value is determined by the selling club, hos importance to the club & whether or not they want to let him go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because there is only maybe 4 or 5 world class strikers in the world entering their prime who are all valued around the 50m mark and Suarez is proven in the hardest league in the world therefore he is worth 50m like Falcao, Cavani etc. Remember a 29 yr old Van Persie cost about 25m with only 1 yr left in his contract and they're both pretty equal to be fair. Not to mention if Chelski are going to pay 50m for a hobbled Torres we sure as hell are getting that at least for Suarez with all them Sugar daddies out there
Irish redman

Agree0 Disagree0

He's 26 years old and improving every season. He would've been top scorer in the Prem easily if he hadn't of been banned. His touch, passing, runs, effort, skill, goals and hunger match any player in the world. Apart from Messi and Ronaldo he's probably the best footballer in the world. If Falcao is worth £51m then Suarez is worth more

Agree0 Disagree0

Because his worth 50+

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 18:33:31
he is the best in the world.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because, if a past it, torres, is worth 50 after the year and a half he had, before being sold, and still utter useless 2 years later. then suarez is worth it, way beyond it, in fact.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because only ronaldo and messi have a better goals to game ratio than suarez (league only) since the start of their careers

He's the 3rd best player in the world ad done it playing with spearing hendo downing and carroll say no more

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he packs the bite any team would want in there's lol

Ack17

Agree0 Disagree0

Undoubtably the best player in the prem. if van peirse is worth 24 with a year left on his contract as the best player in the prem last year then for me Suarez is worth 50+.
For me he is on par with Torres of past seasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair he's the best player in the league. we were inferior to the teams above this season and he was amazing. top scorer and so many man of the match awards. he's up there in the 60 mil mark. if torres was 50 he's at least 70mil
5 gold stars

Agree0 Disagree0

Because if we had £50m we would buy him.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 19:29:41
You spent 22m on a player who is 29 and on the last year of his contact. Suarez is in that same quality bracket how ever has recently sighed a long term contact and is much younger and unlike Persie seems happy at the club in which is in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because of ability, age and importance to the team pal, that's why

Agree0 Disagree0

Cause he's one of the top 5 attackers in the world. I think people quote 50m just cause that's what we got for Torres and Suarez is 10x better. I'd say realistically 35-40m is his value he's still young and a top top player.

Agree0 Disagree0

The best stiker and player in the prem this year is always going to be worth £50m +, especially if bale is suppose to be worth £60m+.

YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

He is way better than van persie and shrek I mean rooney. if psg want shrek its going to cost them over 30 million plus 280 gs a week. suarez was never valued that high until that time when he skipped around your whole defence with ease oh and from that time when ferdie and evra tried to squash him and both ended up on the ground like two donkeys

Agree0 Disagree0

2nd top goal scorer in the premier league, could be first if it weren't for the biting incident.
Likely to have another 5-6 seasons in him whilst van persie (for example is only likely to have 2-3 at best)
Has a good injury record.
Has plenty of interest.
Is our most valuable player by a fair distance and it will take about 50 million to replace him.
End of the day it means nothing how we value him, just out of curiosity how would you value rvp.
derryred

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 20:06:33
Maybe? U better decide.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at his goal scoring record since joining Liverpool as well as at Ajax and for Uruguay, he also has a far more superior goal/game ratio for Uruguay than Cavani and on top of this he also has immense skill which very few players in the world possess.

Agree0 Disagree0

Welcome, Utd fan.

I'll try to answer you.

I value him at £50m+ because Luis is a genius. He is the only genius playing in Britain atm.

RVP and Bale are very good players - but they are not genius.

This season will always be remembered for Bale winning all the players awards whilst not being the best player.

Suarez has been consistently brilliant throughout the season. The awards were not given out based on footballing ability, as we know.

I do concede that Luis only has himself to blame for this.

We paid over £20m for Suarez, it would make no sense to sell him for £30m, or even £40m - we'd be back to square one essentially - minus our best player.

He signed a long-term contract not long ago either, so we are under no real pressure in that regard.

A big season from Luis next year could possibly help us back to the CL. Failure to do so and I wouldn't blame Suarez for packing his bags.

We stand to gain more from keeping Suarez than we do from selling him imo.

If we have a great year, perhaps he may stay longer.

The day he signed, I declared his genius and said in a few years he'll be off to Barca or Real. So I can't say I'm too surprised of the interest from elite clubs.

He is amongst the top attacking players in the world imo - Only the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Cavani and Aguero are on his level.

If he went to Spain, the two lads (CR and LM) would finally have some competition. He'd be a joke there.

He's the best in the league with us - Imagine him in a real quality side.

It would take an essay to do his technical brilliance justice. His workrate, his ability to wriggle out of any situation, his goalscoring, his passing range, his free-kicks, his game intelligence, his ability to play across the front-line.

He can score any type of goal. Even without service he is a one-man wrecking crew.

Yet he manages to do this without being very quick over distances - like a Ronaldo, Bale or Messi.

But his short bursts of acceleration over the first few yards, and from a standing stop - and his ability to turn his marker inside-out and create a yard of space is exceptional.

As is his movement. He never stops. Utd missed a trick there you know. You guys would have LOVED him. One of the great entertainers.

BJH YNWA

ps - In England - I only consider Aguero to be comparable, but he didn't have a great season. He was restrained by the overly defensive Mancini imo. He should be back next year.

£60-£70m and I'll consider it btw - but only if I get to choose the replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

And Mister essay who would you choose?

Agree0 Disagree0

Valued at a minimum 70M now. Neymar has gone to Barca and Falcao to Monaco which means there's only Suarez left as a young elite superstar striker. Real will be in a panic now and will try to buy. if our owners are willing to sell then they should ask for a king's ransom. Suarez is only 26 which means he has a good 5 years being one of the best players in the world

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 15:47:24
Liverpool should not be tempted to sell Suarez for any price whatsoever. Although he could bring in over £50M it would be ridiculous to sell him.
People say we could bring in a great replacement for that kind of money but no player of that price tag will move to us without Champions League. Suarez is the best striker that we could possibly have.
N. I Red

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Because he is worth more to us than he is to others. If we sold him we couldn't sign a replacement that is just as good therefore we would need a lot of money in order to improve the team as a whole

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't really matter. Players leave clubs all the time.

What matters is that the team figures out how to play as well or better without him, and to finish higher in the league. Rodgers is paid to figure that out.

Hi eds I'm hearing that we would only sell Suarez if a stupid fee was offerd I. e 60/70m I could see man city paying that if they really wanted him, if that did happend who do u think our replacements would be? 70m could buy at least 2 top top attacking players

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would say Henrikh Mikhritiyan (Spelling) and Jackson Martinez (Porto ST).

I agree that £70 million would buy at least 2 top players but Suarez will not attract a fee of £70 million and if the top top players will not want to ply their trade at Liverpool at this moment in time with no European football at all.

Would people take Higuain/Benzema and Di Maria for Luis?
Personally I think we should keep Luis but he may want to leave AND his temperament means he is a massive risk.

Got to say, some of the players we have been linked with haven't overly impressed me.

I mean Begovic or Reina? Rodgers is talking about getting 'Winners' then surely Reina is more experienced and won more than Begovic. Also far better with his feet seen as we mess around (To much for my liking) at the back often.

Aspas looks like quite a poor player to me. Another assaidi? Looks even worse to me.

Toure? Could do well, but hardly going to set are team alight, could bring the power and experience we are lacking in the team.

Papa? Would he come to us? Don't see this being likely.

Atsu? Young and quick, but would he make a 'big' impact? the answer would be no.

I think sturridge and coutinho were very good additions but none of the above are going to make a massive impact. Unfortunately this window I don't think we will be able to compete with the likes of chelsea and city in terms of spending. Hopefully there will be another inspired signing like coutinho. There has to be a couple of very good players that will impact the team straight away.

On Paper I believe are first team looks quite strong but clearly lacking in depth. However, we can't fill it with average players like aspas or we will be going nowhere. cheers

Danny

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think reina wants to leave mate so we have no option but to find a replacement. Bergovic and mignolet are very good keepers and might even be an improvement given the chance.
Sturridge and coutinho where not exactly "winners" and just about everyone on here said we should be signing other players.
So I trust Brendan to bring in the right players this summer, the players we have been linked with will improve our team greatly should we get them.

Spearing 2m

Liverpool are looking to transfer Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing, Jonjo Shelvey, Martin Skrtel, Sebastian Coates, Oussama Assaildi, Danny Wilson, Jay Spearing and Dani Pacheco. Rodgers will be allowed to spend big this summer and with Carragher, Skrtel and Coates all leaving the club centre halves will be his top priority. Christian Atsu and Kolo Toure look like they will be Liverpool's first new recruits while Christian Eriksen and Kyriakos Papadopoulos are Rodgers top targets. This is not a rumour, its just an observation. Eds, please post this.
In the Europa League final, the team under pressure Chelsea scored against the run of play on the 60th minute. In the Champions League final, the team under pressure Bayern Munich scored in the 60th minute. Both Benfica and Dortmund then equalized via a penalty in the 68th minute. Both finals were decided by last minute goals. The team at the away team position in the scoreboard won, the two players who had missed chances and regarded as bad luck scored in Torres and Robben. It just cannot be coincidence. I have a feeling football results are being fixed, for what purpose I don't know. Another example would be, Chelsea Vs Barcelona at Camp Nou last season, Drogba caused the penalty at the right hand side of the box, Messi took the penalty, if he had scored, they would have won, but he missed. In the finals, Bayern Munich Vs Chelsea, Drogba caused another penalty at the same spot, If Robben had scored, they would have won, but he missed. Now, d Europa League and Champions League were decided in similar fashion this year, like they were playing out a ready made storyline

he has been an under study to Pepe for years and when he has played I know its been limited and cup games at that but he looks solid enough I know people will say others have prem experience or top flight experience for those coming from other countries but if we are serious about grooming our own players why are we so ready to disregard Gulacsi like that? Give the kid the gloves if pepe goes and let's use the money for more pressing positions. Just my opinion.

How come when a player is linked with a move away from our club all of a sudden they are rubbish and should be replaced with this or that player?

Reina has been at Liverpool for 8 years and has become a fantastic servant to the club, and now because he has been linked with a move away he is not good enough for Liverpool and we should replace him with Begovic, Mignolet, Al-Habsi etc. Are you serious? None of these are better than Reina.
It seems some 'fans' just want transfers for the sake of it and are absolutely clueless. Being linked to a club like Barcelona says it all. You do not see Al-Habsi being linked with the likes of Barcelona do you?

Then there's Lucas. Recently I have read many posts saying we should sell him because he can not pass, score, tackle etc.
Do you not know how important he is to our team? His job is to sit infront of the defence and break up attacks from the opposition. Which he does excellently. Don't forget he has recently returned from two significant injuries and has still improved the team by far. A player like Lucas is very hard to replace.

Skrtel too has been subject to much criticism despite being our player of the season last year. You do not become a bad player overnight and Skrtel certainly hasn't. He was left out of the team due to Carragher's plans to retire. Carra deservedly got his chance to finish his career on a high and certainly did.
Those of you who think Toure, Williams, Lovren etc are even remotely as good as Skrtel know nothing about football. Again it is 'fans' wanting transfers for the sake of it.

Some of you are like children. You get bored of one toy and want a different one. You forget how much fun you had with your toy and it becomes nothing to you. What you don't realise is that you will never have as much fun with your new toy as you did with your old one.

We should be looking to hold on to our best players and build on what we have. I would rather Liverpool make no signings at all than sell our best players and replace them with lesser quality.

Now is that enough to get into our team? I thought Rogers was looking for football intelligence coupled with skill and a winning mentality. I see him as a downgrade to both Downing and Assaidi. I know budget is tight, but why waste what you have going for dross, just pool it and buy real talent. Whether that's for the GK or CB and LB positions that we really need to strengthen. Lets put this in context. Barca just paid significantly less (25M Euro) for Neymar than we paid for Carroll. What the heck were Comolli/Daglish smoking back then? {Ed002's Note - I have explained repeatedly that you cannot compare transfer fees.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

First of all, Carroll is british so it was always going to be an expensive exercise. Secondly, Mike Ashley made sure he got way more than what Carroll was worth. Thirdly, FSG were clever by explaining to Abramovich that he would have to pay up what Carroll was going to cost us plus 15 million on top of that if he wanted Torres.

We had no control over Carroll's fee and Torres was nowhere worth 50 million. Nobody on here can tell me that another club besides Chelsea would have been happy to pay 50 million pounds for Torres. so at the end of the day we walked away with a new signing plus 15 million cash which was not that bad of a deal at the time.

So the 15 million that West ham will pay us plus the 15 million we made from the Torres deal plus the loan fee West Ham paid to us for Carroll last season plus the money saved on his wages is not that bad of a deal after all.

But if Carroll is stubborn and does not want to go to West Ham then that pretty much screws up our transfer budget.

Mate you don't have any clue on the transfer.
first Torres wanted to go and handed a transfer request which was rejected by the club. He was 27 and at his peak and the club was going down and he feared of not winning anything in his career.

Torres gave Liverpool 80 odd goals and 30 mill profit and yet people call him traitor.

Chelsea came in with 25 mill in the beginning and we were adamant of about 50 mill.
nor the owners or anyone had a principle deal with Chelsea over the carol deal.
we received 50 mill from Chelsea and stumped 35 mill on carol. carol was KK choice and everyone knew we were paying 36 mill for one season wonder striker.

Torres was worth 100 mil a season ago when Chelsea came in with Torres and Rafa to bridge which was turned down by the club.

he was the best striker on the planet. with his pace and finishing abilities. no one match him on the pitch.

Torres had a huge fan followers all over the world and was leading in the shirt sales and marketing.
he was the best striker any club could dream.

Do you think BR will put faith in Sturridge as spearhead for a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 and then invest the money in talented attacking midfielders (ie Eriksen + another) or do we need to bring in another out and out striker?

I feel 4-4-2 didn't really suit us last season and that if we were to put £40m into providing good service for Sturridge and Borini, we might get the best out of the two good young strikers we already have. Thoughts? {Ed052's Note - I think it will be the former, with snother young striker coming in}

On to the question. Questionable whether it's Liverpool related or not, but with everyone fixated on it for the day, here's a Champions League poser: With the loss of the final dominating thoughts at Dortmund, what will become of the team this summer? Gotze and Lewandowski are both heading for pastures new, but who's leading the race to join them? My favorite other team to watch since they first had Sahin, would hate to see them lose more players, and Reus would do well to stay.

If tonights game showed us one thing, it's that the future of football is tall and athletic, something Gerard Houllier tried to bring to Liverpool, but sadly he didn't bring in all of the right players ( Anelka being the main one ) to bring his philosiphy to fruition, plus ( I suppose ) those ideas maybe at the time were to ahead of there time.

Were going down an out dated method route it looks like, we just don't seem to get the right manager in as football is evolving.

Just goes to show, TIMING IS EVERYTHING!

phillip lahm, ribery swienstieger, robben alaba. tall and athletic don't think so. their just bloody good players. br style is possesion football with high press always pressurising the player in possesion. munich and dortmund football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea just like that really tall and thin bloke Messi.

mata hazard, countinho, messi, suarez?. tall and athletic?

Agree0 Disagree0

What are you smoking, dude? Rodgers has us keeping the ball; scoring goals; passing and moving. It's great to watch. If that's outdated then maybe you should watch basketball!

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy carrol is tall!

Gerard Houlliers tactics were a throw back to the dark old days of kick and rush, a style LFC never before played.

I felt watching Houlliers team was a bore fest and nothing to do with progression.

I thought no on kept a cup anymore?

Agree0 Disagree0

If you win 5 times you keep

Agree0 Disagree0

They won't get to keep it! UEFA changed the rules after 2005. Liverpool will be the last team to keep the cup! :)

What are the chances of you getting back to reality? Slim at best I would guess!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea and maybe we should go for mourinho as head ball boy and then try and finish up the dream team by taking sir Alex as chief groundsman!

And then we could bring back DC to fook it all up!
