Yes, i am aware that Babel has gone. i was well excited when we got him, especially as arsenal were supposedly after him too, but looking back now i think Wenger prob thought he wasnt as good as the hype made him seem.
So jovanovic might leave, which mean that if he does then we would have sold 2 strikers (him and babel) that we played as wingers (or didn't play at all). Esentially that leaves us short of both wide players and strikers.

Hope there are deals close to being completed to fill the voids, improve our starting 11 and the bench

Just think if we had kenny from start and done the double over blackpool not lost at wolves not drawn at wigan had beaten newcastle that's 14 points we shouldnt have dropped so we would be joint second 5 points from top with the players we have now so lets hope we see new faces and kep winning.DORSET RED

I have to admit Dirks. But i must be the only person on this site that thinks Young is any good. I know he is lazy and big headed, but he can also provide that sparkle and bit of magic that every team needs. He can also wip in a good cross with both feet playing on either flank, And can also play just off the front man.

If we could get him for 12-15 mill then i'd take a punt on him. Especially if we are going to pay 8-10 mill for Adam when we don't need him.

Why do some people seem so glum after tonights game? I'm really happy as these were exactly the sort of games Roy was losing. Yes it was abit patchy especially after the weekend but we deserved our luck and held out at the end as well. The King doesn't have a magic wand but i think certain players are starting to perform regularly and hopefully others will follow. In Kenny i trust. {ed's note - am I the only one that couldn't see the important difference between today's performance and ones under previous recent managers? We looked to try and score first and foremost, in the past we were looking to prevent the opposition scoring first and foremost.}

The real question is should we pay ott prices for players. Its true the players we are linked with would make our side stronger, But over the last 6 yrs or so , how much has our club lost for paying the price for bad signings. someone out there will do the maths im sure, and look were its got us.I would love us to bring in new players, But we don't have to be bullied by no club, or manager( whisky nose, Holloway) We are now 7th in the league, and slowly moving in the right direction. tj. I'm really glad that we came away with a crappy 1-0 win tonight. We played well against Wolves on sat and people were getting carried away. Now maybe we can all see there is plenty of work to do yet.

It will take another few weeks for the players to change from Roy's tactics and playing style, and understand the way that Kenny wants them to play. Kenny's even got Pouslon playing well, not bad eh?

Lets do the math - -

9 Points off Chelsea with a game in hand for them and we play against them. Tough call mate. I would rather end up 5th and Let Chelsea win the title and end Manure's unbeaten run than have the 4th place.

More realistic - Man City 13 points. Cannot win away from home consistently. Cannot score goals at home. No extra game in hand. Has to play
Arsenal at Emirates,
Manure at OT,
Tottenham at White Hart Lane,
Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and
Liverpool at Anfield. So if everything goes well, u have a solid 15 points over them

Tottenham - 6 points clear with a game in Hand. Lets make it 9 and do the analysis

Bale injured, so their left wing is over and out means they lose half their pace of the game.This pace is what carries them over so quickly. With their defensive woes I think they will b able to do us a favor in dropping 6 points to the 36th game week. Then comes the 37th when they come to Anfield.

So based on the above schedules and tables and some luck praying and injuring the opponent players, we realistically have a chance of UCL provided we can win consistently and not drop off points against Chelsea and Manure (I am already excited to see them come to Anfield as our team in this form will kick their sorry arse)

Lets go and pray for more fights in training in some place that stinks of manure

People don't realise how much he does some of his little decisions such as turning another way or giving a pass to ease pressure captain! You alright ed?

People slating Skrtel (who does get worse by the min has forgotten football now looking at a WWE career)

And sayins Poulsen did ok, how is not playing as s* t as we expect you to ok. Hopefully KK is playing him to put him in the shop window.

But my main winge is Dirk, he's not even trying as hard anymore. His 2nd touch is as best a 50/ 50 ball, more often than not a throw in. Steven Hawkings with flat batteries has more pace.

Every time he receives the ball and manage to control it) he cuts inside onto his left foot (even worse than his right) does a step over slower than a one legged man then gets tackled or kicks the ball to someone in a different coloured shirt.

Please go effort alone does not make you a Liverpool player.

As we're all crying out for a speedy winger why not save the 6-8m earmarked for adam and make a bid for wallcott, might cost between 10-12m but a better option than buying adam as for a striker i no he's been mentioned before but i was well impressed with lavezzi when we played napoli, bit of a grafter like tevez i think he'd be a good partner for torres, 1 last point i pray to god we don't sign ashley young one word sums him up-s* t.

Great site, like many others o'n here becoming addictive as our respective Editors do an excellent job in preventingvrhis site becoming a swearing competition. Comment more than rumour and I stand to be corrected but do we need Adam? I'm not getting carried away after two wins but just feel we may be able to get higher calibre players i'n the Summer, when hopefully KKs position is made permanent. Don't get me wrong, I like Adam but don't think hes worth much more rban £6 million and can't figure out how good would be for us. I'd much rather we get a left winger and a forward i'n this window if we get anybody! I'n the Summer, I'd love it if we got 4 of the following 6:

We're seventh at the moment! I think we can realistically get sixth, but would somebody like Adam really push us any higher? I could accept paying top dollar for a top class striker (jury is still out on Suarez tho as it's hard to judge playing in the Dutch league) but my point was why pay over the odds for players because it's the january window when we could use that money to pay top prices for top players in the summer.

The rumour that we have pulled out of bids for Adam and Suarez, I won't believe this until it is reported by SSN or BBC - Its just another rumour.

I'm always having a go at people making up rumours about how they know Gerrard's Dad and that, and for all I know this could be one of those but I'll say it anyway - Mate of mine has been told by his Dad who was recently in contact with Lfc that NESV have given Comolli £25m to go to Amsterdam to try and sign Luis Suarez for as little of that £25m as possible.

Now i do think there is a dilemma with mireles and gerrard as i think there similar types of players, mireles seems to play best in the hole just behind torres as we have seen the last few games and gerrard seem to play best there aswell in my opinion. so what does kk do about it? AJ

however use the 6mil from the sale of babel and then the original 4 there is 10 million
i think adam would be a great asset to liverpool fc and is the type of player who can win games.
i also would like to see the back of maxi as he is awful aswell as poulsen.
shelvey i am not rating at all maybe loan him out for a season for me he hasnt got the mentality as he showed in tonights game and in the game against wolves when he got over excited and smashed the shot way in to the stands when any one else would have scored.

i think the suraez may have stalled its been ongoing for two weeks and we still havent done any deal.
i think we are desperate for a new striker to back torres up and to add that extra flame to torres' eyes to make him want to be the best

Ok not a rumor but needs to be said. With all the attention on forward.s and midfielders being purchased, I think our focus should be on a centre back. Imean skertal is an absolute liability. He gets easily turned, can't head the ball, distribution is crap and his positional play is not great. Just cause he looks like vidic don't mean he can play like him. Want him to do well and hope he improves. But if we are gonna be contenders we need a quality partner for agger. Carra is also getting on a bit.
Also to the chap who said Lucas was off to Italy. Doubtful and not for 5m. He's worth at least twice that much.

Why pay ten million for Adam and twenty for Suarez when we could get Adam for five at the end and Suarez would probably a few million less as well. If we buy them now they're not going to automatically get us into the Champions League, especially Adam, so why waste millions of pounds? Save it and buy Banega/ Martinez, Turan and maybe Suarez at the end of the season.

1.We've had a rubbish season and have only started playing better in the last few games.
2. Torres had a good goal disallowed.
3. We drew 0-0 with Fulham the last 2 seasons.

I find it a bit odd to say this, but I am quite happy we have one match to say we were'nt 100%. I have no doubt it would come eventually and hope it serves as a wake up call. You could see Gerrard wasnt quite up to speed with the rest of the heavy hitters - again, its a good thing - he'll know he needs to raise his game.

I feel that if the first goal had stood, it would be a different match, but credit to Fulham, they had us on edge to the end. I suspect it was a more difficult match than many here would acknowledge - they (Fulham) had a great run up until now, even away and we all knew they would try and stop play as they did. I am glad even KK wasnt that convincingly happy about the play - but he, like us, will take those three points happily enough.

Interesting match, could have been very different for both teams, but that's football. I still believe we played well, lets continue progress. I daren't mention it, but perhaps Adam replacing Poulson/ Kuyt would be a step forward? I'd still like to see a deal done with him, that extra passing ability would'nt go amiss.

Not so great stevie g tonight! trying too many 40 yard passes and lob passes and i think that along with the shocking kuyt did not help, we couldnt keep the ball 1st half was ok that's about it! skirtel needs to go, johnson and meierles where great tonight and poulson didn't put a foot wrong, cant remember seeing him give the ball away unlike stevie, but i know people won't agree cause its stevie im on about not lucas!

Decent performance today. We played sum gud footy, but we cleay lack width, pace and creativity in the midfield. For large parts, torres luks isolated still. we hav left it far too late in the transfer window, and i feel we won't sign anybody. But im still hoping we can sign honda for around 12m. Reports also linkin us with matuidi, much better than charlie adam i feel.

Agree 100%. . . and the rest, there was some good football at times in midfield, but the final ball was mostly abysmal. Gerrard's ability to supply the occasional defence splitting pass seems to have deserted him. Lucky win, even though the first goal was onside. I like to think it may have been a different game if it had been allowed. 3 very valuable points anyway.

Another three points. We sit in seventh, six off the Spuds and nine off a Champions League spot. I'm 99% sure we won't get it, but at one point last year we were 11 points off and we managed to squeeze that down to 4 by the end. Now we have a squad that is pretty much the same (quality-wise), but with a more positive manager and unified fans.
A few quality signings, Chelsea continuing to decline and the Spuds as inconsistent as Lucas, you never know what might happen. Hopefully I haven't jinxed the whole thing by posting this.

Went to Wigan v Villa last night. Signed my college up to their Junior Free Ticket Scheme. Second year in a row that I have watched this match. I have to say Ashley Young is one of the most over rated players in the League. He generally walked around the pitch looking disinterested, and distribution was poor. He scored the penalty but is defo a player that believes his own hype! 20 million?? My A**e.

If you want to buy a player that is heavily involved in the first team or club captain he will cost more than a player that is of similar standard that is used as a 65 min sub more weeks than not. This is just plain business, a players value is not just how much the player means to the new it's what it may cost to the losing team, not just to replace him, but to the rest of the squad. Hence why Darren Bent was £18 mill rising £24. He's not worth that but to Villa and Sunderland he is. So it goes back to Ollie's question "How much is Charlie worth to Blackpool?"

With Jovanovic set to leave for an initial 6 million (Wolfsburg) , we will have raised 13 million. If we can't win the lg or at least get champs lg. then our season is pretty much over cos we won't get relegated and europes prob a cert. .we should be top 4, any less is a poor season. .we are liverpool not sunderland or bolton.

I'm glad were not panic buying, our season is pretty much over anyway. Much better to rebuild the squad in the summer when we can get more bang for our Buck and finally clear out the dead wood. Kenny has the players on his side, lets use the rest of the season to evaluate what we have and give some of the young players a chance to sign, were never going to be able to buy a Gerrard or Carragher, their love of the club made them special. I feel much better about the club now than I did in August, lets be positive!

Liverpool are saving there money for the summer when every player is cheaper and will be aloud to leave. we are not getting champions league football this year and therfore we arent speding bid in january. we have a good enough team to finish just around that 4th spot, but we are too far behind now. suarez, adam, warnock, marveaux will all sign. january suarez and adam may sign but guarentee both for summer. we will have to put up with koncheskey in our squad and lucas for the time being.

personally i think lpool will bid 18m with the 5m from babel added to the original fee of 12.75m for suarez. charlie adam may just wait until summer, as we have 4 centre mids already.

(I know it's late, but store it for future use)

1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install.

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that and it will list all the live games available all over europe.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL), but you will always get every Liverpool match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You will alos get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches.

Cur and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.

Don't know if you anyone watched the Austria game yesterday but i was doing some accidental scouting myself and found a young Uzbekistan defender called Odil Ahmedov. He looked world class. He was the only player who looked bothered. His passing, his defensive skills and his skills to take people on were top class. He wouldn't even cost a million. ps- I know they lost 6-0 but it was 11vs1. Also Adam impressed me againts united

Despite the seeming disappointment that's around at the moment, I still have get faith in the Board and the club in general. I'm sure we have other targets, KK said that things were going to be kept behind closed doors, so maybe Adam and Suarez were never meant to be. We've been linked with so many players, and just because it looks like the 2 most obvious look in doubt doesn't mean there are no signings coming!

Much as I like Suarez and think he is ideal as a wide playing support-striker there's two main reasons why we shouldn't do that. One is that Ajax's valuation is ridiculous. He's worth 15M-18M tops as a January transfer, less in the summer when prices are generally lower. The seconsd is that if we give in to Ajax then every club will treat us the same way and we'll end up continually paying over the odds for players because other clubs will perceive us as weak.

First time posting. Question - we have been rumoured with a number of quality players, (Suarez, Gervinio, Hazard, Honda etc. ). We didn't deal either because price was out of our budget or club didn't want to sell. When we go Glen Johnson I remember that we had paid quite a high sum for a defender. I always thought that strikers and midfielders were far more expensive (Quality players).
And apart those mentioned above aren't there any more strikers that we could try to get in this time window or these are all excuses? Hope NESV aren't going to be the same as our previous owners.

Ajax have informed Liverpool that they have until Saturday to push through any deal for Luis Suarez.

The Reds have already seen a £12.8million bid for the Uruguayan striker knocked back, with the asking price reported to be set at some £21million.

Its clear to see that players are wanted, however with the current league position, there isn't a huge amount to play for in terms of finance, champions league looks out of the question, with us being so far behind. and i think that is why the board are so reluctant to meet asking prices for adams and suarez. both players will be considerably cheaper in the summer. ithink had we been higher up the league and only 2/ 3 points away from fourth it may have been a different story. there seems no point in spending 12m on adams if we can sign him for 4/ 5m in the summer. i no pretty much every fan wanted a big statement from the board and a marqee signing, but i can't see it happening. think its sensible not to pay over the odds,

I think nesv are adopting a sell to buy policy, with the sale of babel to hoff and potentially jovanovic to wolfsburg that will bring in total 11 million, then they will buy players for an equivalent amount, i think the owners are cheapskates, they have seen dalglish win one game and have sat back and thought lets not buy anyone lets see how well kenny can do with what he has got before we go out and buy anyone. and this is what i think will happen we won't get suarez, we may get charlie adam, who whilst being a good passer is a liabilty in midfield getting caught in possesion a little bit too often for my liking, admittedly i havent watched him all season but just since our recent interest and in the last three games he has been caught in possesion quite badly.

so i m not expecting much to happen

Anyone else hope that SOMETHING will happen this week! Liverpool has had more speculation and rumour than any other club. As a fan, I just want to know who we are gettin (if anyone) to end speculation then we can get on with supporting our club and stop listening to all this rumour in the press.

My personal opinion (ed, do you agree)
We WILL get Adam, for a sum of between £8m - £12m. Apparently he has a clause entitling him to 20% of the agreed transfer fee?

We WILL NOT get Suarez, I think we will launch another unacceptable offer on Friday afternoon which Ajax will not entertain? (Probably £16m - £18m) But, I reckon he wants out of Ajax and would love the move himself.

Jovanavic - 50/ 50 at the moment for Wolfsburg move, they do need to replace Dzeko and Jovanavic isn't right for our league. Take the £6m and run LFC, providing the player wants the move.

Davide Santon from Inter won't happen untill the summer, if at all. (£9m ish)

Kyrikos Popolapodous (spelling prob incorrect) the 18year old Greek defender, capped for Greece at age 15, is a great prospect, we are rumoured to be going for him.

Ashley Young - Not going to happen

Stuart Downing - 90% going to happen

As I said surely £7 and £19 would be good business all round, but why don't they even come in with 2nd offers.

Have you considered that they may just be a smokescreen?

Admittedly, £7 mil for Adam, is much nearer to what I would think would be a fair and good price, but I still have niggling doubts over Suarez.

If he is that good, why are there no top Euro sides interested.

Do they think his disciplinary record is too much of a risk, or are they seeing something we dont?

At the end of the day, he says he now fancies EPL because he has seen how Tevez has succeeded.

Um, unless he is Tevez in disguise, how will that make one single difference to how he would succeed.

I just feel with his attitude, discipline and even the country he plays for, he is just a bit risky to be paying big money for.

Remember how we all drooled when cisse came in with a big rep and big money, big flop.

Yes at last someone who doesn't have their glass half empty.I am actually gutted Babel went as is the missus even though she just liked saying his name sort of rolls of the tongue.I thought he was a quality player but then again I like all of Liverpools players but thought he was really good.I empathise with people who are upset about us not signing anyone but its not the end of the world we have quality in the team they just needed someone like Dalglish to say I know your good and I believe you can do it so go out and prove me right.Maxi, Meireles, Poulsen, Lucas in fact everyone looked sharp against wolves all in amazing form and positionally excellent.Obviously Meireles stole the show but without the movement and capabilities of the team would not have been any where near as good.Maxi was really trying to score as was Lucas and the midfield looked like a well oiled machine not one person looked scared to wander because it might mean a mistake.Torres was aggressive and was terrorising ( stearman not sure if that's right ) and drifting around causing gaps that were filled by two people and the passing was accurate.It looked like a team enjoying playing for themselves and eachother a team playing without doubts and worries.We have a good team and players we barely play so letting Babel go does not worry me as we have good youth to play and I am happy to let them play as they have been doing the business for the reserves and the academy.
Dalglish has not been away from football for 20 years just working within a different role I believe the man has been dying to get another shot and will blow everyone away with his managent skills.

I seen Shaun Wright Phillips drinking in the Vincent Hotel in Southport on Saturday just gone. Its now doing the round in Southport that he was looking at houses in Formby over the weekend. Do you think there is anything in this Ed? I know he has got an awful final ball but would you appreciate some pace on the wings? Something we really have not got currently and one of the reasons we struggle to push teams deep in their own half. I know there is better out there but for a good deal it good be a quick fix until the summer at least.

My fellow Liverpool fans, it seems as though Liverpool will not be forced into making transfers this window due to the 'inflated' transfer fees. It seems unacceptable that merieles a world cup star for portugal and chamions legue winner is worth 12 million and Charlie Adams, as good as a player he is, worth 10?! We shouldnt be too disappointed if we don't sign anyone as tbh our team is starting to gel quite well. Except for LM and a forward we don't desperately need a new signing i would rather we wait till the summer and buy players at decent fees rather than spend more than required in this window. Dont get me wrong i would love suarez and nzogbia to sign but realistically i can't see any deals happening that is unless we push on with suarez and potentially Adams BUT IF NOTHING GOES THROUGH THEN WE SHOULDNT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Why the hell hasn't anybody signed yet.

Are Liverpool actually ever going sort any deals out?

All that is spurted around is complete speculation just like last summer.

Let's be honest, if Liverpool had any sort of reasonable transfer funds, the players would be already in the squad.

Man City have the funds and have a top striker to show for it in the first week of the window.

If Liverpool are after a proven goal scorer and have funds available then why haven't they signed Suarez or Another already?

Eurosport: Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish on transfers: "I've had productive meetings with the owners. They realise there has to be investment to move forward."

Kenny's comments seem to suggest we're ready to increase our bids. Looks like we are going to sign someone after all! :-)
We should wait the 5 days left and i have faith in NESV, Comolli and especially KD to do whats right for the club. After all nesv did fight H&G to buy and and did listen to us when we asked them to sack Hodgson. I reckon we'll end up with a stronger squad come feb 1st, and even if we end up with nobody we'll still have stevie g, a happy el nino and an on-form meireles.
Anyway, we have got Fulham to beat at 8pm. Come on LFC! !

Ed(s), with regards to our convo about Turan and Athletico, I can remember reading an article a while back regarding Turan and LFC, if I recall he's a Reds fan and dreams to play in Europe with LFC, because he admires our traditions and history. So why Athletico? Because not only is he a class player but these are the types of players we need to be after, players who WANT that Red shirt. I have to say I am a little surprised that the length of time supposedly being taken over the Suarez deal.

I'm not privy to the details of what is happening and I hope DC knows what he is doing with the negotiations and bidding 12-14m.

It is a difficult one.
We bought Robbie Keane for £20m, surely Suarez is worth the same.

Reasons he is - he is younger, will increase in value, can play in a few positions (including a good sub keeper), has scored goals at international level and has a good goal return in European competitions, team captain (until recently).

Reasons he isn't - untried in the Prem, wayward discipline, unsettled, Ajax have money worries, we don't want to spend all our budget on one player. It's a different economic climate.

If you compare him to other transfers
Dzeko (Man City) £27m roughly
Hernadez (ManUre) £7-8m

So ed, At what price do you think Suarez would be good business?

The Reds have already had a £12.7m bid for the 25-year-old turned down with the Dutch club holding out for an asking price of £21m.

I don't see why we should be held to ransom for a player, that although class, has obvious issues concerning playing the game fairly, and is temperemental at best.

£30 million for Suarez, and £14 million for adam is stupid money and I hope the clubs asking these super inflated prices suffer for it.

Adam is having a good season, but look at what happened when he was at a big club before, failure in a big way.

We need to start getting value for our £ or we might as well still have H & G in control and running us back into debt.

We got rid of that with NESV, and I am happier with their cautious and value based approach than buy now, bankrupt later.

Any other views would be appreciated

Ive just had an interesting chat with a football media pal I speak to often, she doesn't like to discuss her sources etc so I never ask her. She has told me that her understanding is that it is expected that Liverpool will improve their offer for Charlie Adam to an acceptable level for Blackpool but not nearly as high as the 12 million figure being banded around. Also that the Suarez situation is still unknown at this stage in her circles. Interestingly though she has heard from a number of sources that there is a suprise signing almost ligned up, that it is a player who has been linked with us in the past but not to a large extent. That is all she was prepared to divulge or perhaps knew. Ed, with this information, does this tie in with any info you may be priveledged too and if so any name suggestions as to who this may be? We have been linked with so many players I couldnt possibly guess this.

Just read on the Mirror Sport website that we have called "off bids for Suarez and Adam. . .as they despair at inflated fees for their top targets."

I hope this isn't true because frankly then we didn't really try, 'value' is the word Kenny, Damian and Tom all kept repeating when asked about tranfers.

I know Blackpool want £10-£12 million but seriously he's worth more than £4 million we have offered, did you see the game last night, they would accept maybe £6.5-£7 million, and he certainly worth that at 25, we got £6 for Babel for Gods sake.

And I can't believe Comolli honestly thinks Suarez is worth just £12.5 million after scoring 49 goals in 48 games last season, 20 million euro surely, bloody Bents worth £24 apparently.

I'm a bit worried there was never any real attempt here, if we don't get a striker and Torres gets injured that seriously bad decision making again at the top.

Reason I asked is I personal rate Saurez, and have done since that left foot panger against Arsenal a couple yrs back! I do think he can defo cut the EPL. As far as C Adam goes, I would like him, as he plays that Alonso-esque role, but do think a £12m asking price is ludicrous, for that much we may as well get Benega or wait till summer, OR buy a WINGER like Turan, Elia, Young, etc. .

Just a quick comment on charlie adam, some of you think he aint worth any more than 5 mil, in my opinion he is worth 10 at LEAST, fair enough if your only judging him on the last six months but if you look at his record for last season correct me if im wrong but i think he got over 20 goals for the seasiders and a number of assists so not only is he a FANTASTIC passer of the ball he can score aswell.
if he came to liverpool it could only be a good thing, playing along side gerrard and co he will only learn and get better.

I don't believe in this tippy toeing about when it comes to transfers. You need to attack quick not fanny around or other team will snap up players and surpass you the reason Liverpool are 11th in the legend is they have been surpass by teams that don't dilly dally in the transfer market, e.g Blackpool, Sunderland, Bolton, Newcastle to name a few. Just look at who are ahead of Liverpool. You should be patient in getting new owners I agree but failing to strengthen your team while all around are is fatal. Nesv Comolli and co need to make purchases or it will be Sunderland and Bolton in Europe not us. I will eat my words if those in charge have a big surprise its what us suffering fans deserve.

Excellent posts, Ed, couldn't agree more. People can say I'm brown-nosing the Ed's apse, it doesn't bother me at all. I've posted multiple times that NESV has only been in charge since October 15, 2010, which is only about 100 days. In that time the debt has been wiped clean, Hodgson has been shown the door, and King Kenny has been put back in charge. I agree with the Ed, King Kenny is our marquee signing, anyone else is a cherry on top.

People need to get a grip and look at the big picture, the re-tooling will begin in earnest over the summer when teams aren't asking for an arm and a leg. If Ajax want to over-value Suarez, the hell with them, let them stay in debt; we had our own debt problems, we are not going to solve Ajax's debt problems too. King Kenny has brought a positive spirit to the team, we are playing much better football, and we are climbing the table; if we win today we'll be up to 7th!

I find it hard to believe some discouraging fans on here already throwing the kitchen sink at nesv after they were our saviours! I'm sure them people will start ranting again if we don't win tonight. I've never whitnessed fans behaving like this especially when we are a club who Have the upmost faith in LFC. I'm sure we will all have a smile on our faces on the 1st feb and even if we don't sign anyone (would be nice though) we have still got our star man in the king! This is by far the best site as it lets fans have their say, but it is quite sad to see that some LFC fans are turning on the NESV, they have cleared our debt and we are now able to look at rebuilding, I would prefer that they take their time in doing whats right for our club, they have brought in KK which most fans where wanting, and I personally think he is a better appointment than RH but I hate the way we treated Roy, we should never turn on our own regardless of however far this great club is from our high expectations it was never going to be an easy transitional season.
I think we forget how much better shape we are in than last year, I personally don't like all the gossip from journo's on the never ending CA and that Ajax striker saga but if they fit LFC and the price is right they will invest, I'm not sure that Commoli is helping us much as he seems to shoot his mouth of but time will tell.
Have faith we are a great team and we are playing better and look more confident which is great after our k*ss poor start to the season.
I hope we can get into CL position and may even have a good crack at the EL, but we can only look up.
I for one know that we will rise up the table, maybe not above spurs, chelski, manure or arsenal.
Lets get behind the team/ owners and just enjoy the fact we all support such a great club and hope for less terbulant times in the future and see some good ol LFC spirit, and if we get a couple of additions to the squad good, if not we have got some great talent to bring up through reserves, there is no quick solution we must be patient and keep faith.

If so do you think Adam has this option? he has 18months left on a reported 10K p/ w deal. . 180,000. With his transfer request refused, and he wants to play somewhere else. . this could even be covered as part of the signing on fee from Liverpool. - - it's so frustrating being a liverpool fan. Were selling attack minded players (babel/ jovanovic) and leaving it too late to replace them. We need pace and width - but nothing Seems imminent!
Suarez would be a good signing, but still need a winger and a left back. Warnock on loan would be good business and I'd be happy with Adam too. . But what's happened to the Marveaux rumours? Why did he come to anfield for the Wolves match i'd he's not signing?
I just think us fans are being fed lies and false hope. . There's no reason we enquired about all these players (Elia, van bommel, van wolfswinkel, downing) yet no firm offers for any!

Really struggling to understand why every1 is panicking so much. theres still 5 days left of the transfer window. plenty of time to sign someone if we need to.

secondly whats with all the - just give them the asking price and get the player. so would you rather we just throw money and paid way over the odds/ yes they may be class but we are liverpool football club and that's more important. remember what happened to portsmouth when they threw money at players.

we are doing it in the right way and if it was your business of cause you are going to try and get the best price for you. im sure adam will come and be a meet in the middle fee. suarez may prove more difficult but lets just leave it up to the 'real people in the know' to sort this out.

Can anyone else see Kelly becoming the new Carra. . The kid has exceptional talent, and plays at both right back and centre back. Personally his experience on the right is giving him the experience of playing in the Prem and I can see him slotting into the centre back position within the next couple of years with the guidance of Carra. It would be just like how Carra was used at the beginning of his Liverpool career. Kenny was also quoted to have said Kelly is "like having a new signing". Im also all for Johnson playing on the left, he isn't shy to use his left foot and if i remember correctly has scored a couple of belters with his left peg. Lets put some faith in the club, I think the time we have been waiting for transfers will be worth it. Adam, Gerrard and Merieles bossing the midfield with Torres banging in goals for fun. Disagree totally here. If a player cost 500k and they get an offer of 5m they know they have made good profits. Which would tempt an owner to sell. If they bought a player for 5m and he was playing badly and subsequently 'valued' at 500k, they would prefer to get a bid closer to the 5m that they paid to get most of their money back. So surely there is relevance to how much a player was bought for to when he is sold?

Babel being sold for half what we paid for him 3.5 years later (when a young player should improve and value increase) - is disgusting imo.

If Adam was purchased for 5m and we offered 5m would it even make the news? Because he was so cheap and they can make a huge profit, discussions are ongoing.

A few comments to some things I have seen on here:

1. We are living in a dream world thinking all top players would jump at the chance to play for us because we LFC. LFC's global popularity has dwindled badly in the last 10 years and we will have no european football next year (all top players want that)

2. People saying we are trying to get the best deal by offering half what the player is worth - this makes LFC look bad and is aimed at unsettling other clubs players. Is this where our club is going?

3. I do not agree with this save a mil here or 2m there. If the player is right for us and will serve us long term, what difference does it make in the grand scheme of things? If we want Adam, buy him. 15m vs 20m for Suarez? Common extra 5m for CL next year which is worth how much? Real business men (as NESV clearly are) know you have to break a few eggs to make an omlette (for the long term benefit). To me, they will sell in a year or 2 and make a nice profit - Kenny improving results and spending as little cash as possible.

Would love your thoughts Ed's.

If Suarez is so good how come nobody else has come charging in. Ajax have massively overvalued him, he's good but never more than £12-14M, in case anyone has foregotten Dirk Kuyt was top goal scorer in Holland 2 years on the trott before we bought him.
Lastly why are we looking at Charlie Adam? I just do not see where he will fit in, he can pass, great but he is not Alonso, I think he is having a one-off season and will then go back to what he was in Scotland. He has weight issues.

We need a good center half and left sided players at the back and MF which I thought Joe Cole was meant to fix. Warnock will not solve that.

But I have a question. Doesn the financial fair play rules start from 2012-2013 season? Which means there are 3 windows including this right to revamp the squad in time to make greater profits .
Which is why Honda needs to be bought without any reservations.
Charlie Adam as well. The way he ran riot in the mid field last night, it would be madness not to go for him even if it meant 8mil.
We would need a striker skilled enough to score goals while on his own, as well as play a good foil to Torres. Suarez is the first to come to mind but am not sure if he ll manage to repeat his great performances here . But I would go for him . All these guys are professionals. Unlike babel who has nothing in his head, they all strive to do well every where to prove their class. Am sure suarez would do the same.
A centre half is badly required at this point. Am not confident that we ll get more clean sheets with Skrtel in there. I would rather have carra back. Would welcome your thoughts ed.

Fan need to quiet down on the anti Comolli thing. He was hired to scout young upcoming talent and he is good at it (source is his track record). This is the last window before the new rules take effect regarding what teams can spend. That is why clubs like Ajax and Blackpool are looking to get the most for their players. We should not be held to a ransom, but we should be aggressive in whom we go after. We are still a massive club and players will want to come here and play for us and KK. Listen to some of the carp in here regarding a striker. LLorente is off to real Madrid in the Summer. they signed Adebayor on loan with the option to buy.Honda about to sign with them, Kun Aguero is going there this summer too. Now real are interested in Saurez too. Last I checked Real Madrid were not in good financial health. They overpayed for players in the past and have an excessive payroll. The Spanish financial markets are in turmoil. They don't need 7-8 strikers, same as Scum (though Rooney has been shocking this season) and Spuds don't need more strikers. Take Slur Alkis comments last night as to simply inflate the price of Charlie Adam. Now they are in for Saurez too. He's becoming a bigger wheeler dealer than "arry".

Here's what we have. A LFC manager who knows the Shanks/ Paisley way. The best Keeper in the EPL. The best CM and striker in the world. "The BEST Academy" currently in England, if not Europe. Zero debt. New owners. A re-energised fan base. Toss out some over paid under-achievers in Babel & Milan (save 160K a week in payroll allegedly) and if Charlie Adam can do a 50% impression of Xabi for 30-40K a week then its a good piece of business. A striker would be awesome, but not at any price, but I think we'll end up with Honda and he may be the ultimate compliment to Torres at the end of the day. Have Faith.

Allow me to show my frustration. .
Our beloved reds are having the worst season since whenever.

And players like Adam and Suarez are sticking their necks out and asking to be sold to Liverpool, but yet LFC simply say they can do without that extra bit of class. .

I've got a question ED. .
Say the price being asked for Adam and Suarez together is 15 mil pounds more than we wish to pay(10 for Suarez 5 for Adam - more).
So that will leave us having over spent by 15mil. .
But what if by signing these 2 players, LFC make it to qualify for the Europa league - or dare i say it - champions league.Which will lead to more games at anfield - more money for the club. more televised games.
or finish higher in the prem. . wouldn't the extra revenue gained with these players make a sizable dent in that 15mil.

Leave aside shirt sales. .

In my opinion - as much as we support the reds - they are just not good enough at the moment to finish in that top 6-7 - and they are not going to. .

on a different note - and another question for ED.
Is it possible that maybe LFC are biding their time-Ajax and Blackpool are aware that their stars want to leave. .
Maybe LFC's game is wait till late as possible, when panic sets in to these clubs - ie- stars don't want to be here - then they may be forced into selling. .

Well then somethings not adding up, Comoli said the striker they are to sign is to support Torres not replace him. Either Comoli is lying or we are not after Suarez. Also Patrick Barclay obviously dosent share his knowledge with his collegues as the other times staff are saying that LFC see suarez as an ideal partner for Torres.

Not sure whats going on at LFC but then again I don't think anyone really knows and patrick and his mates are all just guessing. Tony Barret tweeted that no Journo is being briefed by LFC and its harder than ever to find out anything. Im amsuming that Patricks statement is just his opinion and not something he knows.

Just a thought for you all but personally i don't think we should let jovanovic go. He hasn't been amazing yet but he's clearly got loads of heart and a really good engine and his attitude is top notch. His close control when running is good and he often comes out of tight spaces with the ball still at his feet. He's a real scrapper and i think once he's warmed in he'll be an awesome squad player for us. Also he's a striker not a winger really he's just happy to play wherever because he's a good lad.

We need to keep these sorts of attitudes in the dressing room to remind the primadonas what life is about. It's not all bling, cars and sexual assault. . .

I wonder how much this comoli fella is costing the club with his flight/ accodation and wages, i just hope he is worth it so far he has done very little and should be more low profile rather than attracting a high media profile for his reputation.
i think someone at liverpool needs to grab him and remind what is expected from him and what is best for the club.
Money was promised from nesv when kenny took over and more has now been raised from the sale of babel i just wonder what sort of money we have at present for some urgent support for torres because i think there is too much expected from him as he gets isolated when he plays up front by himself.
so comoli take your finger out of your apse and go get a decent striker this would create a better image for nesv and show some promise for the future.

You offer peanuts to sound out the club. They reject it and the offer becomes public as they are disgusted with the price. The player then sees who has bid for him and that in turn unsettles the player and they ask for a transfer. Plus side is we sign the player for less than the selling club quoted.
I am not a fan of Comolli but let's judge him when the window is shut.

I like Charlie Adam and he would be a good addition to the team at £6m , but not at £12m. That would be better spent on strengthing another position. A winger or defender.

Not sure about that, but definatley heard a rumour that Toivonen had legs, sorry couldn't resist, lol. I remember reading that they wanted 15mill or above and we were looking at 6 mil mark, Maybe a viable alternative to suarez, Personally never saw any of them play only clips but can't really judge. Toivonen looks like a target man kind of player though so could be a good partner for Torres.

I don't believe we should pursue charlie adam, good player no doubt, but not what we really need right now. Stevie coming back and playing in a revitalised side is almost a signing in itself. A striker is obviously needed as no decent foil or back up for nando. Not sure about spending vast sums (if we have it) just now. Things are on the up!

Fann*ing around in the transfer window doesn't help anyone. If our targets are Warnock, Honda, NZogbia, Suarez and Adam, then we have given all other interested teams like UTD and Tottenham chance to steal them.

If these are the "right" players they should be signed already and announced. For the "few" million it would take to get them, that would be made back in merchandising and improved Premier League position. Plus it would allow us to get rid of Jovanovic and anyone else not likely to feature as much.

Buy the right players for long term success, none of this recent 4 or 5 players each season that are soon shipped off.

Suarez £20m - net £10m if we get £4m for jova and £6m for babel (whats that for NESV trying to stamp their mark on the club?)

Adam £8m perhaps? If he is the man to finally replace Alonso then he needs to be bought.

N'Zogbia - Liverpool value him at £7.5m - since when would a teams star player be allowed to leave for that? I would have thought if he is the much needed pace and width that an opening bid of £9m would have been in place.

Warnock on loan, allowing Johnson to return to right back or more advanced - personally I would sell him if we are in need of £ to balance the books. NESV say we have the finances for the right players but appear very cautious with their bidding so far.

I would agree that everything that is public about our targets has been disrespectful.

In days gone by the deals would have been done.

I just heard from a source at the spanish RFEF that a bid of £38m has been accepted by atletico from liverpool for kun aguero. This is why they have rebuffed chelseas offer. Both clubs have agreed not to go public until atletico can buy a replacement as they don't want their influx of cash to inflate the prices. You heard it hear first.

Think a number of "fans" on here need to settle down. So no one has signed just yet remember we play tonight and then not again until Tuesday. We have 5 days the window closes on Monday to tie up any deals. I'm sure after tonights game against Fulham all KK's efforts will be going in to getting the players he wants. Things can happen very quickly in the world of football, yesterday no one saw Adebayor's move look how fast it happened. Have some patience. Yes it's frustrating but it seems too many people on here just look for the negatives first we want to get rid of H & G then when we do the first thing people want to do is criticise the new owners give them a chance. Same goes for Comolli I'll admit I think things could have been done better but he hasn't worked for a club of our stature before the pressure is different. When he started Roy was in charge now we're trying to revert to the way we used to do things. Get behined the club and have a little faith.

So the owners make a statement of intent regarding transfers into the club and "making the wage bill higher" (in other words signing more players), then Kenny states Babel is going nowhere hours before he is sold and now the only deal that looks like is charlie adam. Well if it goes through then ok, he's a decent player but it will mean that our squad, which everyone knows is lacking width and pace, will have be short another pacey player capable of playing out wide and will have acquire yet another CM.

If you ask me the owners are used to getting what they want in their home sport of baseball and expected it to be the same here. They have gone for players who's clubs have been stubborn on their players values (and rightly so) and we are now in a position where we are panicking because we can't get the people we want. Even if we do sign Adam, it'll be closer to £10mil than the £4mil we offered which basically means very poor negotiating on our part.

Expect the club to make a statement in feb about how "we are liverpool" and will only sign players if the "price is right" and the current squad is "more than good enough" etc, etc. This will basically mean "we really tried to sign some players but their clubs were being mean and wouldn't let us have them for peanuts, and in the end we ran out of time. But don't worry, because in the summer we can try again!"

I'd rather the club had just said we are not looking for anybody but if the right deal presents itself we will consider it. At least that way they will have covered their backs. Now it just seems all their targets are too expensive or want moves elsewhere and their is nothing they can do about it.

Get used to Kuyt on the right, Maxi on the left and praying that Torres can get us a winner. At least until the summer!

I don't think Honda has the qualities to be a back up striker in the Premier League. He just seems too calm and weak. I see him as more of a Centre Attacking Midfielder who would link the Midfield to the Attackers brilliantly.

When Fernando Torres has been at Liverpool the team as a whole had most success when Gerrard played behind Torres, and linked the Midfield to the Forward. But Benitez and Hodgson began to play Gerrard in Central Midfield and even Left or Right midfield.
On Saturday we seen Meireles playing just off Torres and look how well it worked. Meireles 1 and Torres 2.

I think that for Liverpool to have success and to win games they need to have somebody playing behind Torres and feeding him as much as possible.

I think we need wingers more than Suarez.
Crazy idea, but what about Krancjar? only about 3million and would do a good job? or perferrably ARDA TURAN
I would prefer Honda to Suarez anyday.
PLUS I don't see how we would play two predator strikers plus gerrard, meireles, adam (if he comes) . .our system with Torres and then back up works fine I think, with either Gerrard of meireles playing just off him. Comments please?

Here's what I think, not rumours, not truth just what I perceive as common sense.
We are trying for at least Luis Suarez and Charlie Adam this window. From what I see we're looking to get him for around £15m. I'd pay £20m tops, if their being greedy we could go for someone who'll get around the same goals for less.
Adam wants to join us, clearly. He handed in a transfer request right after our bid was rejected and now they're asking for £10m+. It's an old trick, seen many times. You ask for more than their worth but he wants to join, he'll come for around £7-8m.
Suarez is someone I'm not entirely certain on. Surely this deal would've been done last week? Heard that we sold Babel to add the extra £5-6m they want though, so maybe a deadline day signing.
Honda will finish the Asian Cup on the 27th and apparently we were in Qatar talking to representatives. If he comes I expect it to be another deadline signing.
Any other talk of Arda, Shawcross, M'Vila is rubbish. Anyone else will be a summer signing.

I regard Benzema the same way I always regarded Trezuget. yep he's played for top clubs, but he's nowhere near good enough.

I think Suarez could be a very important signing for us, but unfortunately we cannot allow ourselves to be held to ransom. If we can get him great, if Ajax are unreasonable with the fee. .just have to go on with what we've got.

The same. if we pay more than 8 mil for Adam, we've been robbed! He is unproven internationally and in Europe and his stock is based on 6 months in the Premiership.

I think as soon as clubs start refusing to pay astronomical fees, this madness will end. .as long as Man s* tty and Chelsea and Madrid keep splashing ridiculous cash, we will continue to miss out on the best players.

Charlie must have a pretty poor agent/ lawyer if he's allowing that. 18 months at 10k a week is less that 1million & generally a player's value is calculated by the length of contract he has left X his weekly salary. Isn't this just getting ridicules now? Yet another transfer window turns into a complete and utter fiasco for Liverpool simply because we constantly lowball clubs with our first offers. We managed to buck the trend over the summer, but that was simply down to us buying crap players. This January we're right back where we were under Rafa with us trying to sign players for a song simply because we're Liverpool.

If we had put in decent offers from the start (16.5 to 18.5 for Suarez & 5.5 to 6.5 for Adam) then I don't think we'd be in this mess and at least one of them would have signed by now.

If we can't afford these players then we shouldn't be bidding for them and if we can't afford these players then maybe John Henry should have thought this through a bit more, because these are the sort we need.

Ed, how come you not rate Benzema? He has played very well for Lyon and for France, before joining Madrid. It's only natural for a young player to need time to adapt to a new league and a top side. I personally think Benzema still has a lot of potential, he is fast, he has got sufficient strength and can score both on the ground and in the air. I think if he got paired with Torres under the guidance of the KK, he could become a class act for us. I would love to see him at mersey side, but I doubt we would be able to get, since he would have spicy wage demands and has been quite good over the holidays. Would like to know why you don't rate him, I might change my look at him.

Whilst i don't disagree with what you say, some of the players mentioned were not bought cheap or for not much at all!
Nani was 25m Euro
Smalling £10m (for a player with a handful of PL games)
Vidic - £7-8m (granted not a big sum but still not the not much at all you stated.)
You didn't mention Valencia - £16m.

Only Man Citeh are full of marquee signings but that's them! one, two or maybe three is normal.

Liverpool only have Torres (approx £20m) and are crying out for someone else to help up front.

Like I said! Good Scouts, Good Coaching, a great manager is what is needed. Liverpool have for years on end squandered money on wrong players & not got the most out of the players they have. Previous Managers, Ceo's, Scouts & Coaches are all to blame & this needs fixing first & foremost.

What has happened to the Supporters of Liverpool? I have never read so many negative posts in all my life, just because the new owners won't be held for ransom, they are milking money from us and no good do me a favour.

Just a quick observation. . . a lot of posters on here have been slating Comolli for his negotiating skills over the last few days. How many times have we paid over-the-odds for average-at-best players? i for one am glad that at least we are trying to haggle for players instead of just bending over and taking it. . Holloway last night stated that when they signed DJ Campbell their first bid was £100k before eventually paying £1M. Doesn't anyone realise that it's a poker game that these guys are playing. Charlie Adam, clearly a good player - but not worth £12m Blackpool are reportedly asking, the length of time remaining on his contract means they can't afford to turn down a big bid now. The same applied with Babel, we turned down £9m in the summer from Birmingham, and have just sold him for £6m - he only had 18months on his contract.
Im guessing if Adam signs we will continue this 4-3-3 were currently playing by dropping Lucas. Gerrard and Meireles are known as box-to-box midfielders so will be capable of taking on the extra burden of defensive work given that it isn't Adam's strong point. At Wolves Lucas and Poulsen went forward often, so i would expect that Meireles and Gerrard would do the same.
The Luis Suarez deal is at a crucial stage, and the next 24hours will determine whether a deal is possible - Suarez wants the move, and may hand in a transfer request to get it, if this is the case we will re-enter negotiations, on the premise that Ajax keep negotiations out of the media, we can't have their people telling people about the amounts we have offered.
Suarez would replace Maxi on the left, as Suarez likes to come in off the wing onto his stronger right foot. A front 3 of Suarez, Torres and Kuyt.

To be fair to Macca here, you need to remember that he does seem to have genuine and honest sources, but things change day by day, and not even Comolli himself knows at this point who is definitely going to sign.
LFC may have a strong intent to sign Suarez, but they've been surprised by Ajax being stubborn on price, and had to adapt their plans.
If we want him badly enough, and I'm reading from Macca's post that we do, then we'll probably stump up the extra cash after another day or so.

Re Suarez - To be honest, i am not entirely convinced this is a deal that will be concluded this week - However - neither am i convinced that Stum or Real are likely to make the move either - Stum boss confirmed a few weeks ago that there will be no movement from him this window - and Real have just signed Adebayor on loan - I see no likely move from Stum for Adam either due to reasons stated above - Ed mate - do you think there will be any transfer activity from us today by way of bids etc?

For those people saying that we don't need a striker, we need to remember that Torres has been injury-prone, and if he goes out for a month or two, what top class alternatives do we have?
People talk about Ngog in more positive terms these days, and he has improved a bit, but here's the question- would he even get onto the bench at any of the current top 4 clubs? Would they see him as their main back-up striker?
Not in a million years would they. If Torres goes down, we are screwed, and without his sharpness and class, even a Europa league place begins to look a tough ask.

The way i see the whole Suarez thing is like this:

De Boer wanted to sign him (Babel) but said he would cost too much in wages. I don't see why it would have been a problem to include him in the deal but Ajax couldn't afford the wages. We came up short in our bid for Suarez by about the six million we now have from the sale of Babel. We will now up that bid by the six million (from the Babel sale) we wouldn't have paid if Ajax had wanted Babel and hopefully that should be it. Babel is the key to why the deal has been held up so long. No brainer for me guys! !

I don't know why half the people who post on here support LFC. 80% of the comments are running either the club, the owners, or the staff down! Surely LFC is one entity and moves forward together. I'm sorry, but we don't need enemies with half the "fans" on here.
It really makes my blood boil to hear. .why don't we do this, or why don't we buy him. I'm pretty sure there are people in place to make these decisions for the good of the club. I'm afraid I would disagree strongly. I think we could have had 12 points easily just even taking the Wolves & Blackpool at home as the first 6 points alone. It's all hypothetical in the end, but my arguement still stands that Man Utd's team are not full of marquee signings. Rio (£30 million years ago), Rooney (£27 million a few years ago) & Berba (£30 million a few years ago) are the only big signings. All the other players are brought reasonably cheap or have came thru the ranks! Vidic, Evra, Rafael, VDS, Hernandez, Nani, Even Ronaldo, O'Shea, Giggs, Scholes, Evans, Smalling etc etc etc. Didn't cost that much if at all. Why can't we do it & not have to spend millions on every position. Good scouts, Good coaching, A great manager, some desire & a big slice of luck is all that's required. Here end'th the lesson!

I'm afraid I would disagree strongly. I think we could have had 12 points easily just even taking the Wolves & Blackpool at home as the first 6 points alone. It's all hypothetical in the end, but my arguement still stands that Man Utd's team are not full of marquee signings. Rio (£30 million years ago), Rooney (£27 million a few years ago) & Berba (£30 million a few years ago) are the only big signings. All the other players are brought reasonably cheap or have came thru the ranks! Vidic, Evra, Rafael, VDS, Hernandez, Nani, Even Ronaldo, O'Shea, Giggs, Scholes, Evans, Smalling etc etc etc. Didn't cost that much if at all. Why can't we do it & not have to spend millions on every position. Good scouts, Good coaching, A great manager, some desire & a big slice of luck is all that's required. Here end'th the lesson!

Hodgson should of never sold Riera. Oh and only 4mill as well. He was our only width, and was still a kwality player. He was starting for spain only a year before. But the thing is that it only made our squad weaker.

I think its a bit far to argue that Gerrard has had only one good game in the last few years, i can see that you are not his biggest fan and i agree that he likes to paint himself as bigger than the club. However you can't deny he has been a quality player for us, countless times he been there to grab the game and do what's needed to be done.
Saying that if it was up to me, i would of sold Gerrard and kept Xabi.

Am I the only person that really doesn't care either way what the hell goes on at sky sports?

The fact that this has taken up such a large space on this site, which, at the end of the day, our involvement in the happenings of that day, we was one of the 2 protagonists in the match, nothing more.

What happens to people like Andy Bluenose Gray and his little co - defendant Keys, is irrelevent to this site.

I check this site several times a day, for any news, inciteful musings, and all things LFC.

What happens outside that, who cares.

We are all here I hope to find out what and when with our team, and as such, I would like to thank the regular contributions made by people such as Blair, and, of course, the collective Eds, many of which who's views I would not bother with any site.

If you want to buy a player that is heavily involved in the first team or club captain he will cost more than a player that is of similar standard that is used as a 65 min sub more weeks than not. This is just plain business, a players value is not just how much the player means to the new it's what it may cost to the losing team, not just to replace him, but to the rest of the squad. Hence why Darren Bent was £18 mill rising £24. He's not worth that but to Villa and Sunderland he is. So it goes back to Ollie's question "How much is Charlie worth to Blackpool?"

I want to begin this post with alerting you that I am a Manchester United fan. Please, though, do not judge me on that basis, as I am a Football fan who takes every team into perspective no matter if they have a fierce rivalry (such as ours ) with eachother.

Some people are saying that Aguero or Benzema would not join Liverpool as they are no longer a 'Big Team' and they would prefer United or Chelsea. Then you end your post by saying that Suarez is joining Liverpool. Basically, you contradict yourself as Suarez can (sometimes) be just as good as Benzema, possibly not Aguero, so why would he want to join if others wouldn't want to? Liverpool are still a MASSIVE team in World Football and just because they are going through a rough stint it does not mean they cannot sign good players. Have a little belief in your club, especially now that Kenny is back and it is visible changes are happening and Liverpool are growing.

Some have said they would like to see Alexis Sanchez in a Liverpool shirt, but it will not happen. He has openly declared his Love of Manchester United football club and a deal is already in place so that he will come to Old Trafford in the Summer of 2011.

Keisuke Honda, I believe, will not join Liverpool. And there is no need for him to if Meireles continues this form he has hit. I believe you need a Defensive Midfielder as I believe that most of you will agree with me on saying Lucas and Poulsen just are not cut out for Liverpool or the Prem. Sure Lucas can have his days but is far too inconsistant.

Also I believe Liverpool need one, or possibly even two Strikers in the Summer. You only have two Premier League class Strikers in your club at the moment, compared to United for example who have 4 currently at the club and 2 out on loan. I think a Hold-Up striker would be perfect for Liverpool, as long as Torres stays. Romelu Lakaku would be perfect, but I do not think he will be in Liverpool colours any time soon with the money City and Chelsea are throwing in his direction. Possibly Bafetinbi Gomis (France) of Lyon could be suitable?

Finally Charlie Adam. Entering this week I had thought Adam to Liverpool was a 100% done deal, but I am not so sure now. The Adam to United rumours are really starting to pick up now, and could prove to be true, but who knows.

I wish Liverpool Football Club the best and Hope they sign some players of the Quality they deserve.

Liverpool need to make these 2 transfers happen, meaning Suarez and Adam. Its pretty clear both players want to come. These 2 players could make a huge difference for this club. Its too late this year to make a run at top 4 but it is important to finish strong so that in the summer we can look attractive to top players. Adam and Suarez can help make that happen.

Those 2 players added to the team in the style Kenny has them playing would be huge. Everyone always worries about formation but the way the players are used is much more important. If we play a back four our midfield and attack could be something like this:

Lucas/ Poulsen: An anchor man who stays deep and whose main job is to help the defense and make simple, safe passes to the more creative midfielders.

Charlie Adam: Stays very deep with the anchor man but makes incisive long passes up the field to the attackers and also has freedom to make forward runs to support the attack.

Raul Meireles: The attacking midfielder. Stays forward, links the forwards to the midfield. Makes forward runs into the box to get on the end of crosses.

Steven Gerrard: Official position could be right wing but when the team is in possession would slide more centrally and be the key creative force, often moving directly behind Torres.

Luis Suarez: Official position could be let wing but like Gerrard would move centrally quickly when in possession.

Fernando Torres: Central Striker who often comes deep to get the ball, allowing Meireles, Suarez or Gerrard to fill the space he vacates. However he would also alternatively stay advanced and lead the line, making it difficult for the defense to know what he is going to do.

Would be a pretty darn good team!

He hasn't really done much in world football (he was sub for Spain in World Cup sure but Torres & Villa are their #1 attack duo still). Surely Bilbao wouldn't have the cheek to ask for 30m. More like 15 - 20m considering his age too would be more like it & surely within our price range.
If The Europa League is our #1 priority now too, isn't it crazy to be letting players go & limiting us upfront even more. Unless Kenny feels Dani Pacheco is ready to step up as most potential new signings would be cup tied?!

I remember the days when we used to pick up our strikers from the likes of Scunthorpe and Chester.

We left the other teams to buy the world class talent whilst we bought players who fit into the LFC mould.

Obviously that was a bad plan, because we never won anything back in the 80s did we?

1. johan cruyff. . ajax played 240 games scored 190 goals. went to barca and still played great football.

2. ruud van nistelrooy. psv played 67 scored 62
went to man united and still played great football.

3. robin van persie. .feyenoord played 75 scored 15
now he didn't score much but played great, , , went to arsenal and plays even better.

4. wesley sneijder. .ajax played 127 scored 44
moved on to real madrid played well, moved to inter still plays well not the best but still not a mediocre player.

5.mark van bommel. played for psv played 169 scored 46, , good for a cm, , , moved on to barca did well in his short time, moved on to bayern did well now moved to ac milan.

im sure a list can go on if i keep looking.

so don't put them down just because its the dutch league many great players have come from there

Just a few questions EDITORS. . . If we have sold Babel for just over half what we paid for him(wasn't really given a good run or used, nurtured correctly.) and the possible sale of Jovanovic(if what got something back would be a bonus, as he came on a free.) then surely we must be in the market for players (replacements?) Both can play on the wing and up front. Its kinda weakening our squad! Which isn't the best as it is. . . NESV have stated when they took over that WE didn't need to sell, and that they had money to improve the squad, but not a bottomless pit. Yet we are selling players? The wrong ones in some cases, when we have the likes of Poulsen and Konchesky on our books. No disrespect to them, but they ain't Liverpool quality. I understand the three club rule, but does that include loans?? I understand that Babel and Jovanovic may not be Liverpool quality, but weakening the squad where it needs strengthening doesn't make sense, unless we are bringing in better replacements?? I've bigged up Arda Turan since the Euro's in 2008. . And after hearing Dalglish is a fan i trust my judgement. Small, stocky, skillfull, 23years old, robust enough to play in the Prem. The Turkish league is tough like ours, not the same quality but he rides the tackles. Suarez is similar(obviously a forward tho) seem Tevez like. I don't see the pair struggling to settle in, just like Torres did. Left back is a must. There ain't that many quality left backs around. Hence Johnson currently filling the spot. I agree with most that Johnson would be good deployed as a right winger with Kelly at right back. . . If the Adam deal goes through, can you see him deplacing Gerrard, Lucas or Meireles, even Cole? Cole needs time, he'll come good. As i've told people of Meireles just need to settle in. Adam may have had a good 6months in the Prem with a team over acheiving, but would he be consistant? (we all know how fans turn on players) I for one backed Lucas and Insua (aswell as Kelly, N'Gog and Pacheco). All have been thrown in at the deep end. Too soon due to the lack of squad members, BUT the likes of Lucas, Kelly and N'Gog are improving ain't the finished articles but age is on their side. . . The majority of names linked with us i presume is just paper talk. . and after the Meireles deal i'll wait till its done and dusted(player, shirt, manager photo). . . . . Overall, a quality striker, two out and out wingers and a left back are a must. . . . Even if just loan deals to prove they have what it takes. . . Its better than nothing. . Transfer Clockwatch ticking fast people. . It seems to me there are two possibilities for this transfer window:
a) Things are more complex than they seem: Complex market games which aim to lower the club asking prices, under the table negotiations, tapping of players etc. In general, things we have little access to.
b) Things are what they seem: We go around bidding for players that we want offering far less money that what the clubs are asking.

I suppose that -as most of us feared- nothing solid will be revealed before the transfer deadline ends. I just hope that at the end of the day we get a player or two in - Preferably Suarez & Turan. Not just for improving the squad but most importantly for picking up some momentum and lifting morale. Crucial times ahead.

well a marquee signing is a player who can strengthen his team, marquee signings is players who r great players they wouldn't be classed as a marquee signing otherwise they would jus be classed as another average mediocre signing {ed's note - marquee means it is for show, to impress the fans. They are signed for popularity.}

I think its a bit far to argue that Gerrard has had only one good game in the last few years, i can see that you are not his biggest fan and i agree that he likes to paint himself as bigger than the club. However you can't deny he has been a quality player for us, countless times he been there to grab the game and do what's needed to be done.
Saying that if it was up to me, i would of sold Gerrard and kept Xabi.
Jack {ed's note - I do agree he is a quality player, but he has not performed well this season, except for his hat trick. Last season he was poor as well, I would rather have sold him than Alonso too.}

Just a few questions EDITORS. . . If we have sold Babel for just over half what we paid for him(wasn't really given a good run or used, nurtured correctly.) and the possible sale of Jovanovic(if what got something back would be a bonus, as he came on a free.) then surely we must be in the market for players (replacements?) Both can play on the wing and up front. Its kinda weakening our squad! Which isn't the best as it is. . . NESV have stated when they took over that WE didn't need to sell, and that they had money to improve the squad, but not a bottomless pit. Yet we are selling players?? The wrong ones in some cases, when we have the likes of Poulsen and Konchesky on our books. No disrespect to them, but they ain't Liverpool quality. I understand the three club rule, but does that include loans?? ? I understand that Babel and Jovanovic may not be Liverpool quality, but weakening the squad where it needs strengthening doesn't make sense, unless we are bringing in better replacements?? ? I've bigged up Arda Turan since the Euro's in 2008. . And after hearing Dalglish is a fan i trust my judgement. Small, stocky, skillfull, 23years old, robust enough to play in the Prem. The Turkish league is tough like ours, not the same quality but he rides the tackles. Suarez is similar(obviously a forward tho) seem Tevez like. I don't see the pair struggling to settle in, just like Torres did. Left back is a must. There ain't that many quality left backs around. Hence Johnson currently filling the spot. I agree with most that Johnson would be good deployed as a right winger with Kelly at right back. . . If the Adam deal goes through, can you see him deplacing Gerrard, Lucas or Meireles, even Cole?? Cole needs time, he'll come good. As i've told people of Meireles just need to settle in. Adam may have had a good 6months in the Prem with a team over acheiving, but would he be consistant?? (we all know how fans turn on players) I for one backed Lucas and Insua (aswell as Kelly, N'Gog and Pacheco). All have been thrown in at the deep end. Too soon due to the lack of squad members, BUT the likes of Lucas, Kelly and N'Gog are improving ain't the finished articles but age is on their side. . . The majority of names linked with us i presume is just paper talk. . and after the Meireles deal i'll wait till its done and dusted(player, shirt, manager photo). . . . . Overall, a quality striker, two out and out wingers and a left back are a must. . . . Even if just loan deals to prove they have what it takes. . . Its better than nothing. . I know most deals will be towards the end of the window, when clubs become desperate. Lets hope we aren't one of the desperate clubs. Thanks ED's for taking time to read my ramblings. Unfortunately I do agree that during the calender year of 2010 Pepe was our most consistent and influential player.
