Hi ed, do you think we should have that lizzie greenwood hughes on motd instead of lineka, she is so gorgeous she could tell me we got beat would still love her, lol {Ed001's Note - she would be an improvement over Lineker, who knows nothing about footie and admits to not even watching the matches. Not so sure she is all that special, but I wouldn't say no I guess.}

Ed, on the slim chance chance that reina would go,
Who would you like to see as his replacement? I'd like Lloris myself, think he's quality.
Thanks,
Stu.

{Ed002's Note - Adler or Malafeev.}

Ed002, did you mean Malafeev of Zenit or Akinfeev of CSKA, who is 7 years younger than Malafeev?
Adler's a Manc fan, who allegedly had a clause inserted into his last contract ensuring a move if a certain valuation was met. {Ed001's Note - I am pretty sure he must have meant Akinfeev, but knowing him he could well have meant Malafeev, he does have strange choices of players.}

26 Feb 2011 23:30:04
Just watching Jose Enrique on MOTD. I know it's not a true reflection of the whole game, but some of his play (crosses etc) were genuine world class. He could definitely be a relatively cheap success if we were to go in and buy him.

I would love to see craig bellamy back at liverpool for 1or 2 seasons, great player when he was here, bit of a hot head, but kk would sort him out, or even the new no 9, still got the pace and the skill to get at any back 4 T.J. fife

How long will it take for people to realise he won't come to liverpool!

Huntelaar to join LFC in summer. Dalglish is a fan, and Turan is another strong possibility.

I would love Huntelaar to come to anfield but i think he wants 1st team football, so who is going to be dropped?

Hi ed, did you watch manowe game, how did shrek get away with that elbow, then linesman hugs him as if to say its ok howard webbs been in contact to say he can't make this match but would i look after you for him, jimmybosun, {Ed005's Note - Sorry mate I didn't see it.}

26 Feb 2011 22:32:17
Ed, I'm trying to read between the lines in a lot of rumours posted on this page, the likes of Hazard and Podolski aren't going to happen so I am struggling. Looking at it I can see maybe Gary Cahill but he would come at a hefty fee, Charlie Adam, Sylvain Marveaux, Arda Turan and possibly another winger with about 4 players outgoing. What do you think? I know you can't know for definite but how would you rate the chances of these coming in? {Ed005's Note - We can still attract top players - signings like Suarez and Meireles have proven that. The likes of Hazard and Sanchez won't be here as it seems they prefer moves elsewhere (Arsenal for the former and Man Utd for the latter). But I'm confident we will move for some top players who will improve our team.}

26 Feb 2011 22:20:12
LFC do not need a hold up player, Andy Carroll fits this profile. Buying a player like Carlton Cole at this moment would be a waste of money.

26 Feb 2011 22:11:32
Liverpool should go for targets that would readily join LFC.

These targets include:

Turan
Contraeo
Sturridge
Dann
Baines

All these players have in some way expressed positivity towards LFC.

26 Feb 2011 21:55:31
Ed, where is people getting this EDEN HAZARD IS TOP LFC TARGET info from. Is it true mate, and if so does that mean if the money is laid down he could come?

{Ed002's Note - No it is not true. People aren't getting that information from anywhere, it is simply you posting nonsense.}

May i just point out that Kevin Doyle is Irish not British like the poster at 16:26 says! From the Republic of Ireland, Wexford to be correct!
There is a difference! India & Pakistan are different countries as are The USA & Canada! Same for Britain & The REPUBLIC of Ireland!
Anyone else need a geography & history lesson lol?!

If heard this, but Coentrao instead of Enrique.

Ed do you know if we are doing much scouting in Germany? I know people have mentioned some players from Dortmund like sahin, gotze and the two center backs, but i think they would be difficult to get if they win the league and will want to play together in the champions league next year. The main players I wanted to know if we are looking at are autro vidal (brilliant young defensive mid), toni kroos (talented munich mid but bastian schweinsteiger plays his position) marco marin (bremen winger who I think was germanys best player along with ozil at the last euro U21 championship) and renato augusto (skillful right mid). I think each of the players matches NESV buying policy as they are young, should be attainable at a good price considering their future potential.

{Ed002's Note - Marko Marin is the only one of these players where there is even the slightest chance of movement. Forget the rest.}

Eds, i don't think this whole 'Ed001' etc. thing is working imo! too confusing which ed is which! who is who! thanks guys, this site is fantastic, none other like it! {Ed001's Note - hopefully you will all get used to it, it should be easier for new people to figure out who is who.}

{Ed002's Note - I don't really understand your question.}

I mean who will be our first choice RB next year Kelly or Johnson -Mc {Ed001's Note - you are asking us who will be picked?}

26 Feb 2011 19:32:31
Ed, is there a chance of signing pato and payet this summer?

{Ed002's Note - No, none.}

26 Feb 2011 19:33:21
Ed, all the players we are interested in are poor. Do you think we will buy a world class player in the summer that will suprise all?

{Ed002's Note - It is all speculation about interest in particular players but there will be no signing's of Pato or Ronaldo or any other players that you wish to randomly throw up. I would expect players to come in but I fear that your expectations are running rather high.}

I reported on here a few minutes ago that Liverpool were interested in Goetze and Sahin from Dortmund especially as big Sami had given glowing reports on them. I hope that we have a couple of scouts at their game at Bayern Munich as Borussia have about 6 players that would enhance our squad greatly. Subotic, Hummels and Barrios are all quality and Sahin has just scored an absolute beauty from 25 yards - he has a fantastic left foot. Throw on google chrome and watch the game. Gomez isn't bad either btw.

schmelzer is a decent left-back too. and left back is a position we really have to strenghten.

26 Feb 2011 19:06:41
Ed, are we really interested in enrique? Im finding it a joke that were after players like adam, young and enrique that are slightly better than what we already have instead of top players. I will have no trust in the people buying these players if they happen. Ed?

{Ed002's Note - I am surprised as well - but I have no confirmation of interest at all.}

26 Feb 2011 18:48:03
Hi ed's there anytalk if andy carroll will be on the bench for tomorrow's game {Ed002's Note - Although he is back in training I don't think that the club will be in any rush to bring him back. As such, I doubt it.}

I am originally from Scotland and have lived in the Stats for over 10 years now. Never have i heard football called Soccerball. Not sure if everyone is trying be funny or just ignorant. I don't believe Donovan is good enough for us at all but i am tired of the garbage that "Americans" take on this site, because they don't have the Rich history of our football. Very ignorant. Trust me, the USA will win the world cup before England does again.

Ed. .thanks for agreeing with me about buying 3 or 4 world class players instead off 5 or 6 cheaper players. you said you think we will buy at least 1 world class player which player do you think is most likely.i know it will only be your opinion.i would really like contreau and top winger. .

{Ed006's Note - I dont really know, there are a lot of good players out there I just hope that whoever we sign, they do well for us.}

26 Feb 2011 18:08:31
Ed. do you think in the summer we will enough funds to splash out on world class players in each position that we need players. or will we just have to settle for good cheaper options.as keep reading that that we will go for enrique as cheaper option than contreau. it would be nice to have one summer where we buy 3 or maybe 4 world class players that are young and exciting. then not buy anyone in jan.and bring all our exciting youngster though.i think we need top players more than squad players hopefully john henry will let us buy the best players that are out there. what do you think??

{Ed006's Note - I agree with your post and I would like to see some world class players brought it. I think we could see one marque signing but I am not sure.}

NO soccerball fan here all about the football respect your fellow red supporter especially if we are both from america believe me no donovan obsession here just a realist. I definitely would rather have other players but he would not hurt us. i watch every game and see our weakness on wings and know he is better than maxi and kuyt who just gives the ball away too much

26 Feb 2011 16:48:25
{Ed001's Note - I don't understand this obsession Americans have with Donovan, he failed miserably in Germany because he is simply not good enough.}

Thank you Ed! Finally someone agrees with me. And I know exactly what you mean about Americans obsession over Donavon. I am from the states and he is the only player any of these "soccerball" fans want to talk about. Now I have to listen to it on here to which I thought was a site for true football fanatics. ha still enjoying it.

I hear from my dad who friend work as a clerk in Merwood Training ground and he hear that KK will be manager next season but only for a year until Vicente Del Bosque come available.
HE also hear the that kk have draw up a list of players and may have arround £40m + player Sales

Charlie Adams CM for £8m
Jos Enrique LD for £8m or Yuri Zhirkov LD for £6m
Shay Given G for £4m - if Reina going
Ibrahim Afellay LW for £6m
Adam Johnson RW for £15m - may be if not over £15m or Georginio Wijnaldum RW for £10m
Carlton Cole CF for £7m just given as another options in attack
Javi Martinez DM for 15m - since Alonso and Mascherano left Current DM Lucas and Poulsen are not good enough

Forget Signing Ashley Young and Eden Hazard they are deen too be over price

Peope will argue with Suarez and Caroll transfer fee
Suarez and Caroll can be negotiate bit lower than £23m and £35m if have 2 months not 4 days and 24 hours respectively. Without Torres we are relied on NGog and Kuyt to score the goals. As you know They are not great goal proacher.

We we recoup at least £25 m or £40m (if Reina is going) back from players Sales

-------------------------------------

wow! that reeks of 9 year old playing football manager.

26 Feb 2011 16:34:41
Why is everyone so insistent on signing Baines?

Yes, he is a very good player, and don't get me wrong, he would be ideal, but he plays for Everton. As if they would sell to us.

I know it's happened before with Xavier for example, but unless we pay over the odds we won't get him.

We do need a proper LB though next season.
I've been hearing all sorts of suggestions:
Taiwo - looks dodgy to me. But if available on free then why not.
Bale - Perfect, but Harry would never sell.
Riise - Fantastic player, but he is past it.
Warnock - Risky, but wouldn't object.

Haven't we got a natural LB player coming up in the youth academy or something?

26 Feb 2011 16:36:11
Eds love your site ty for posting me been reading it for years. Its not an obsession with donovan believe me i know there are better players its more of a fact i know he is a better than what we have and im telling you football is catching on more in america now more than it ever has and it would almost pay for itself so figure it costs almost nothing better option than what we have and it generates lots of buzz in a huge market smart business. He failed in germany because he was too young and was not mentally ready for europe then. i know he's older now but feel he could really bolster our squad. If we had ashley young and juan mata or jesus navas and adam johnson or mcgeady and honda on our squad i wouldn't care as much but would still love seeing him on bench as sub or cover

26 Feb 2011 16:36:21
Ed, is there any truth that we might bring in Honda in the summer?
What's his situation at CSKA like?
Would be a great signing.

shadow.

{Ed002's Note - January was more likely than the summer - we may need to wait until next January which will be the close season in Russia. His situation at CSKA is good.}

My brother is an arsenal fan and i watched both games with him when they played braga, i watch braga win at home so they are no push overs, however i also saw them get hammered at the emirates. i expect us to get through this round and who knows liverpool might even win the whole thing.
i never knew how much i cared about the europa league until kuyt scored lol, there are some very good teams in this competition;

Ajax
Bayer Leverkusen
Villarreal
Benfica
CSKA
Porto
PSV
and maybe rangers

some of these teams play eachother, i don't want to get to far ahead of myself but we can win this.

always a red

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The world cup is the biggest spectacle in football and most well known aspect of the game but it is by no means the highest level of competition. We watch it for the ceremony of it and for the history, not for the football which is not great. Liverpool would easily beat England in a match, and Barca would defeat Spain (true they are almost the same team). I am not trying to insult one of football's great traditions but the level of play in South Africa this past summer is much below anything we have seen in the major European leagues this year. And judging Donavon on his performance against sides such as Algeria, Slovenia, Ghana, and even the Three Lions is
not accurate. It is better to look at his performances at Everton last year. YNWA

Ed, with Ngog hopefully leaving in the summer, we'll need a back-up striker.
Our main strikers will be Carroll, Kuyt and Suarez. I can only see Pacheco being loaned out next season, otherwise I'd just say put him in the first team squad - why not?

But as a back-up striker, do you think Kevin Doyle is a good shout?
Okay, he's 26, but should Wolves go down, we could pinch him on the cheap. £4m maybe, most of which covered by the Ngog sale. He's a pretty decent striker, British and can still improve. Plus let's be honest, couldn't be any worse than Ngog. .

If not Doyle, who else would you like to see if we were to buy another striker in the summer?

Sonic. {Ed001's Note - Doyle is just another Kuyt.}

26 Feb 2011 16:16:40
Landon donovan is definitely good enough for our squad he's better than maxi brings more skill to table than dirk and its sad to say is better than any lm/ rm on our squad now. Anytime in past 4 years he is matched up against or is playing with better than mls competition he excels. For instance if we had a squad of suarez/ carroll/ honda or turan or mcgeady or young/ donovan/ gerrard/ miereles he would excel with talent like that around him. He is a much better all around player than dempsey and fits into our squad much much better. We need speed and passing on the wings crossing ability occasional goal chipped in. dempsey doesn't bring anything to the table except maybe 4th option striker not a good winger mid-fielder at all believe me we don't want him there but i would take him as squad/ reserve for all the american money perks it would generate we should do it. nyc red {Ed001's Note - I don't understand this obsession Americans have with Donovan, he failed miserably in Germany because he is simply not good enough.}

I know we probably wouldn't be looking at too many Championship players, but I'm watching Swansea v Leeds and I'm very, very impressed by Scott Sinclair. I really do think he looks like he could make the step up to the premiership now that he's had more first team experience. Direct, strong and like lightning. I know people will say he's a Chelsea cast off but he's been excellent this season and I think he'd be a good addition. I welcome any thoughts. (He's got two in the match I'm watching.)

Defo have to agree witrh Rush on this i think he's worth a shot, better option than N'Gog anyway. The Championship is a breeding ground for good players. Last year it was Adam and Carrol, then over the years players like Jagielka, Lescott, Cahill (All Everton buys!) Adam Johnson, and me been Irish i would love to see another Irish lad play for the Pool. Last Irish player was Finnan and he was a great right back, but i'd like too see more scouts scout the Eircom league in Ireland as there are hidden gems such as Seamus Coleman and to a certain degree Kevin Doyle. I think Coleman signed for £100K for christs sake. Come on Wigan :)

Liverpool need a massive drop in useless players we dnt need for example Barca have a small squad and just make the players they have better that's wat lfc shud do

Barca play in a less physical league and so have less injuries smaller squad needed, they also have a winter break more time to recover.they also have their 2nd team that plays in the league below Barca they can't get promoted to the top flight but they can get relegated and so have competive matches each week unlike our 2nd team who play meaningless matches and not each week.this gives them a pool of players that are match fit and a better supply to the 1st team.the reserve team system needs a complete overhaul, either that or we buy a smaller league team to use for our 2nd squad.

In reply to my comment yesterday about Kuyt playing for a contract. . There was a bit of humour in my statement but truth also. He has not had the best of season this season and IS a liverpool legend but i think he has only one more season left in him. Im not KK or NESV or Comolli but if i was them i'd give him a two year contract at the most. He will go in the record books and ppl will always remember him for what he done at LFC. I'd rather see us buying a younger winger with pace and skill who can skip past players. And to the guy that said i should hang my head in shame about the Kuyt comment if we had a team full of Dirk Kuyt's we would be known as Another Stoke City.

26 Feb 2011 14:16:44
{Ed002's Note - I don't know what SSN have said about the player but he will likely move in the Summer and I expect it will be to either England or Italy.}

Are Liverpool interested in him? (Moussa Sissoko)

{Editor's Note: Not that I know of; but there may well be speculation. Yann M'Vila does interest Liverpool though.}

Can't understand why no one ever mentions Landon Donovan as a winger/ rm/ lm or whatever kk decides to go with next year I for one would love seeing him throwing in crosses to carroll with his trickery creativity speed and finishing its exactly what we lack on the wings. I understand the quick spell at everton i know we can forgive this and did that really count. if anything it proved he could play in epl. i really think surrounded with the lineup we expect to see next year he would flourish to his highest potential. his shirt sales would pay most of the fee and interest it would create in america is only a gr8 thing for our club money wise. love this website thankyou for keeping an american red in the loop
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Simply not good enough. He has only ever shined when playing at a low level of competition such as the
MLS or the World Cup. Also I cannot see where he would fit in. I would not mind us buying Dempsey who is already proven in the PL but even him only as a squad player. Dempsey is younger as well and would bring all of the same interest from America that you talked about with Donavon.

Hello ed, I want to ask a question not about who we are gonna buy but about the team composition. How do u see us going out next season? do you prefer two out and out wingers with suarez and carroll or do you think suarez should be on the left/ right with one winger in a 4-3-3 kind of formation. Its only my opinion but I think choosing one of these two options would determine whether we need one good DM or not. Also can you please tell me that have we ever send anyone to scout milos krasic before? do you think he could be a good option.
Cheers

Ed theres alot of talk about sterling suso and coady but i think another one to look out for is adam morgan he seems to be scoring loads in the under 18s at the mo , i read his profile and he is still 16! looks a great prospect , have you seen him play much ed? could be a young scouse striker coming through the ranks in the future :) {Ed001's Note - I haven't seen much of him, but what I have seen was very promising, he really does like to have a bright future, hopefully at Liverpool.}

Saw a group of Everton fans playing football with a Hedgehog!

So I went outside to tell them off.

But the Hedgehog went 1 nil up!
, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,
please please please, dont even joke about that, i run a hedgehog rescue and have seen first hand the damage pain and suffering those poor mammals go through when someone has used them as footballs, they are a beautiful endangered animal and if we carryon like we do destroying habbitats they could be extinct in 15 yrs, which would be a shame if our grandkids grow up not knowing about those lovely creatures, im not a tree hugger just someone passionate about wildlife as i am about my beloved liverpool, ive even named some after players and the next 2 males i get in will be called luis and andy, lol, if you put my nickname in yt you can see some vids please feel free to comment there if you would like any more info,

The club, When its announced Officially, other than that 99% of the time its guess work.

a few people have been spot on with somethings, but then they've said alot more other stuff which turned out to be untrue.

Rumours are rumours for that very reason.

the best information generally comes out of Macca but he hasn't posted in a while as it is only february, he was very accurate in the last few months though.

also certain ed's seem to often have a heads up on certain clubs ongoings. Sorry if i've missed anyone off they are just the ones that spring to mind.

Hi all

i was at the game thursday, it was the first time i took my son. we were sitting in the KOP sorry standing and before thursday i was concerned about him as he has shown no interest in liverpool fc or football in general. but after that night he can not wait to go again, he spent all of friday learning the words to songs and everything, amazing as his xbox was only feet away. so i would like to thank every Kopite for there help.

anyway in the park the hours before got chatting between singing with the regulars and talk was that we are refurbing anfield, just a thought we own the the right s to build on stanley park or am i wrong, anyway if so why don't we use the space to add facilities to anfield maybe a hotel, or parking or maybe a giant casino. i mean don't the new rules state we can only spend what the clubs make, surely if the casino and hotel are part of liverpool fc we will make a fortune.

if we have a larger stadium we can encourage fans from all over the world to come to the holy land they can even enjoy a stay in a luxurious hotel and spand there money in OUR casino. if we improved anfield then increase out boxes for the rich and corporate fans then we can take more from them.

i think its win win really

one last thing. . . . . .

we have a good chance of getting 4th and also to go along way in europe, we won a game on thursday against a team who tried to spoil alot but against the better teams we have the players to open up teams that come to play.

Liverpool are weighing up a £2.5m bid for Preston's Adam Barton. North End want an unlikely £5m! Also a deal for 20 year old Georginio Wijnaldum could be back on, un aware of price but im guessing a figure between £8m-£10m could be enough. What do you think of theese 2 players Ed, 2 very promising young players for me.

Adzii {Ed001's Note - Barton looks promising but I have not seen Wijnaldum play in real life.}

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

As you've previously said, its a guessing game and everybody is specualting on everybody at the moment. I would be suprised if we go for £25m + players in the summer, i think it could be a flood of young tallent drafted in. i.e the likes of Barton, possibly Wickham as i said before Sturridge even. There the players i think Dalglish will be targetting. Not your Aguero's or Benzema's

Just wanna say something about our UEFA Europa League campaign. I think we will be able to defeat SC Braga, but I'm not so sure once we reach the last 8. I think that the following teams are able to beat us

1) PSV
2) PSG
3) Zenit
4) CSKA
5) Villareal
6) Leverkusen

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I think we could beat Leverkusen, PSV and PSG home and away and I beleive at home we could beat the rest. Remember Carroll isn't too far away and Kelly, Agger and Gerrard's injuries are only knocks.

In the summer a full back, midfielder, winger and cheap striker in with 4 or 5 leaving

**************

the only threat in euorpa we've got are city an i think we'll beat'em in the final

26 Feb 2011 11:52:15
Ed. . can you please tell me why i keep reading that fans want us to sign kjear(spelling). he is not good enough for liverpool if we do go for c.b. then lets go and get cahill or get kelly playing there.also lets try to get hulk to play upfront with carrol and saurez. and maybe m'villa for d.m.also taiwo is not good enough for us.l.b should be countreau(spelling). with these players we would have power skill and pace what do you think. {Ed001's Note - as far as I can tell it is people who have not seen a lot of Kjaer who want him to sign for us.}

Just a bit of thanks. . . .

fabio aurelio. . . when called upon this season either from the bench or start, has made our team look more stable and more solid. . .

dirk kujt. . . . as ever , works like a trojan, was the only player closing down the defenders against sparta, another Vital goal, and tho lacking in a bit of ability, more than makes up in effort and ethic

Martin Kelly. . . fantastic transition to right back, seemless integration into the first squad, frightening to think how good this lad will become.work rate similar to Kujt.

lucas lieva. . . . Out of position since joining liverpool, takes heaps of criticism, (unjustly sometimes), wan't to improve even @ a position he dislikes playing in, his game has improved dramatically, consistent performer all season.

jonjo shelvey. . . . league one football for this lad last season, similar to kelly (seamless integration), never looks out of place in the midfield for liverpool, hard worker, good passer, his tutor-ledge under gerrard will bring him on leaps and bounds.

i could have gone on with the list further but for me these players, no matter if the team has been playing good, bad , or indifferent, have maintained consistent performances , when consistency has been needed in spades!

MY PERSONAL THANKS!

Last 8 is where I expect us to get knocked out. There is a 6/ 7 chance we will draw one of these teams and unless we draw the other team in the last 8, I don't see us progressing to the last 4 ESPECIALLY IF there is no Agger, no Kelly, no Stevie, no Carroll

they COULD beat us, but we have every possibility of beating them. We could easily progress through but i think its villareal who would be the real threat out of that group.

Exercise in optimism. Since KK has taken over we have taken 14 points from 6 EPL games. IF you extrapolate that over a whole season we would end up with 88/ 89 points. . .Manure on their form would only have 83 this year. JWH take note!

Uefa cup is a good cup to win. . ive only seen a few teams like dynamo who have alot of pace skill and good attacking players. . but are you at all worried with the team selection, and the way livpl don't seem to be taking it seriously with putting out the strongest side?

{Ed002's Note - I am sure the club are taking the competition seriously. As for team selection, that is down to Kenny Dalglish. He knows he needs to create a balance between Europe and the league and certain players may need a rest.}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Apart from Carragher, who did not start who would be classed as a definate starter in a league game. We had injuries to players and Suerez is cup tied. The team will be stronger in the next round if injuries allow.

cheers ed for answering back about my question on selection and the uefa cup. .

i do get it. .but i just think. .the priority is the uefa. cos the league doesn't mean anything now
as eventhough we can still attract players. . winning a cup is such a good way to get tha winning mentality back at liverpool again and put us on radar again to players!

Stu,

I think he is kuyt lover. . Il b shocked if he was a poulsen lover, because as u said he as done nothing to warrant praise.

I just think he had nothing to come back with regarding kuyt and just jumped on the slagging off band wagon. . . We all support the team and players but we are entitled to our opinions. . So without any come back he has just gone with the support ya team quote. . . When obviously he has no football related opinions!

Shocks me that he comments on a banter page when he obviously sits on the fence

Joey k

= = = = = = = = = = = =
I never came back because i went to bed, did you think of that?

So now your slagging off fellow fans? Shanks and Paisley would be very proud, i do have an opinion and it's that Liverpool fans are not like other teams fans (or so i thought) and when i give my opinions they are balanced with constructive critisicm, your comments are just slagging off! So will i debate with you two? Absolutely not, Irish Kev, Blaire Main, the ED's and a few other regulars i do and read all they say because they have a grown up mature attitude about Liverpool, they understand the Liverpool philiosophy, you two have a lot of growing up to do and you need to realise why Liverpool fans are different, but ''my bird slagged of Poulsen during a match, i am so proud''?

Debate with somebody else, i'm not interested!

Can't understand why we wouldn't leave him go!
He needs competitive game time for experience surely?!
We will never know if he's good enough unless given the chance to prove it! Not getting a chance with us (yet anyway).
And it'd be in the harshness of the Championship too.
I'd have thought that would be perfect for him?!
Good stage to learn the ropes as such.
Weird?!

Hey ed,
A lad told me this am that Carroll is gonna be on bench Tom what u think?
Do you think we have a chance of signing baines? I believe as much as 7 players will leave do you expect all seven to be replaced?

Fowler is god {Ed002's Note - Tom? I doubt that Carroll will be on the bench, but he is training so I guess an outside chance. Baines seems doubtful. We don't know what will happen with the summer transfers yet.}

Have to disagree Ed. CB has to be a bigger priority than LB or ST (we've just spent £80m here). All 4 CB's lack something and we don't have a proper partenrship amongst them - Carragher is committed but needs a speedy no 2, Agger has great feet and would be my first choice but is injury prone, Skrtel makes too many mistakes and Soto is great to have in the squad for when we play Stoke but otherwise not a first choice player. Next big money needs to be spent here on a young but reasonably established player who has decent mobility.
Moonboots {ed's note - a young cb such as Ayala, Wilson or Kelly you mean?}
This. We don't need another CB as Kelly, Ayala and Wilson are quality. We will have those 3 plus the option of Kelly at RB and Wilson at LB. However with Aurelio always injured we need another LB- I have been told we're after a cheapish LB one around 8-10m, Enrique and Baines are the top targets also Taiwo but hes not that interested in us.
Get a LB(Baines), DM(M'Vila), CM(Adam), ST(Doyle), RW(Young), LW(Marveaux/ Turan)
Out: Poulsen, Konchesky, Jova, Ngog(Loan), Aquilani, El Zhar

Increasing capacity is a priority with the new fair play rules coming in.

There is a lot of talk about Anfield being renovated and I'm happy for that.

I have heard concerns in the past about the Kop staying as one stand. Is that really an issue?

If it brought in an extra 10,000 capacity with double terracing, would that be an issue to us fans?

yes - Believable
no - Unbel

Hi Ed, what do you think Kenny sees in Ngog? Surely Pacheco, Ecclestone, Amoo and co. deserve a chance now. Ngog has been rubbish for ages.

I know you love Kenny and we all do. But let's not do the 'in rafa we trust' nonsense again. Questioning things is healthy. {Ed001's Note - you mean those that aren't out on loan? Pacheco has failed to work hard enough in training, others have no experience and are not ready to lead the line on their own. At least Ngog should have been able to use his experience, yes he failed but on paper it seemed the right choice.}

********************
Ed, Ngog or Ecclestone - who would you play?
I would take Ecclestone 10/ 10. Ngog has that non-chalant french arrogance I can't stand. Think he will become a sulker too when Carroll starts playing. He won't work harder to get a place in the team.

{Ed002's note - Ecclestone is, like Amoo, out on loan so the question will never arise. I expect Pacheco to move on at the end of the season.}

26 Feb 2011 09:53:02
If every liverpool player had dirks attitude we would be unbeatable
*******************
Unfortunately though if we had 11 players with Kuyts speed and skill we would be playing in the 3rd division.

I agree we need 1 or 2 players like him in the team, but we desp lack 2 wide players with pace and skill.

been very average i know his young but when you get your chance in the first team you got to make it happen i watched him against Northampton he was awful

***************
Not sure why all the fuss over Pacheco. Too small for out an out CF, not a natural wide man. So I guess he will have to play behind Carroll where there is comp in Suarez, Meireles, Cole etc. I already think Suso is better than him in that role.

And please can Kenny sell Ngog. Ecclestone is even better imo.

Ed, any idea why Ince doesn't get a few min's on the LW from the bench? Maxi is a waste of time. Ince has potential.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think LW is his natural position. I cannot tell you why Dalglish is not keen on using the player at all.}

I am totally disgusted, disgruntled and down right devastated about what i saw on Thursday night at Anfield, my tears have not dried as i have wept ever since that one player from my beloved Liverpool FC would miss such an opportunity that would have lifted us all from the pit of doom that we have been wallowing in. . i am. . . sooo gutted. . that Dirk Kuyt. . .would not put everything he had in to such an important result.

AND CELEBRATE LIKE A TRUE HERO WITH A CLASSIC

what is certain is that this guy might not ever be the special one for us BUT he deserves all the credit he gets. . and more from the rest, for his passion for our club

his unselfishness and charity is helping the needy and that includes LFC

Anyone else have the Chelsea match on their Sky+ planner still saved like me?
I can't stop watching it, seeing the happiness & satisfaction on Kenny's face for the goal & final whistle makes me smile every time!
And the scowl on Terry's & other Chelsea players faces helps too - not least on a certain Spanish boy's face!
When he walks past Kenny with his head down just after the final whistle - that makes my day every time!
And so he should hang his head!

{Ed001's Note - his injury is a totally different one, it is that simple. It is in a difficult place and is affected by twisting and movement. Plus we are not as desperate as the Hammers are for points.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
True mate yeah.
Thank foooook we're not as desperate as them!
Just can't bloody wait for him to get stuck in & get the debut outta the way(like every other fan i guess).
By the way, Kelly's crossing & passing has been superb i think since KK came in & his attacking distribution generally has been excellent. He's made so many chances recently - i'm delighted for that lad. Can't wait to see him ping some balls in for Carroll to get his head on!
His run & cross for Raul on Thursday was brilliant for example.
Gave us great pace & nice width in the first half.
This can only be a plus surely?!

Ed, Hitzlsperger is just back from a long term lay off but is straight back in for West Ham pretty much.
Yet Carroll is being kept waiting for much longer seemingly "until ready" even though he's back in full training about 10 - 14 days now or more? Been in the gym since February 4th i believe.
I know there is a different situation in regards the injury being more difficult to manage in Carroll's case - but if Carroll is back training this long he can't have any current problem so why on earth is he being held back? Same with Steve Gerrard, are we being over cautious?
Hope that makes sense - i'm up 20 hours now & on my 5th beer (i'm a lightweight lol) so am slightly woozy.
The Carroll situation is driving me crazy with excitement but yet slight frustration at the same time - i'm concerned he'll build it up too much in his head (his debut) if he isn't let loose soon. I wish like Suarez he made his debut without too much thinking time.
I know Kenny knows more than us what is best but how much longer must we wait? Me finger nails are bitten down to me hairy knuckles lol!
According to Sky, Carroll is not in the squad again for Sunday?! What harm would a 10 mins sub appearance do him?
But what do i know?! I need another beer, woohoo!
Cheers,
Irish Kev. {Ed001's Note - his injury is a totally different one, it is that simple. It is in a difficult place and is affected by twisting and movement. Plus we are not as desperate as the Hammers are for points.}

{Ed001's note - we don't have much forward cover though.}

I don't see him getting his game ahead of Carroll, Suarez, Kuyt & N'gog though to be honest mate!
Even Jovanovic seems ahead of him in the pecking order right now.
I'm hoping Kenny is thinking about giving him a few games near the end of the season if we are too far off 4th (which is a likely situation if we're being realistic here). Maybe this is why he's keeping him?!
Hope he'll blood 2 or 3 attack minded players like he's tried with Shelvey, Kelly (which has payed off big time) & Wilson (who certainly has looked able) by the end of the season. Would love to see Pacheco start 3 or so games in a row, give Suso a few sub appearances & the same for Sterling (unlikely till next season though).
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

DEAR eds there are a lot of cryers on this site. lucas is a vgood team player point 1 . point 2 .if we get all the players we are intrested in the summer we will be stronger. but every other team will do the same. so they will be stronger what iam trying to say is we need players like lucas kyut spering ect with HEART to run that extra mile to win to help us win the league not get rid of them . your thoughts thanks red till i die {Ed001's Note - I think Lucas offers a lot more than effort, he has a fantastic attitude in training and on the pitch. He is one of those that will keep on going no matter how bad things are going, too many players will let their heads drop, but he never does. He is also a decent passer, we do need better off the ball movement to give him options to pass to though. I would definitely keep him.}

Agree with both you guys!
Sick of the negativity myself!
I moan a bit i must admit, but not nearly as bad as half the folk on here!
We've gone from 19th to 6th in 4 months - pretty good progress, sounds even better when you remember we were 14th i think it was in mid January pre Kenny!
Remember we were all as depressed as hell in October before NESV came along.
Man up moaning people ffs & be thankful for our small mercies! We have a lot to be thankful for & excited about!
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

A lot of Liverpool fans aren't unhappy at loads of players; what they are saying is that currently as a group of players we aren't good enough - and i agree or we would be near the top of the league.

I don't see the need to say Lucas is currently the best defensive midfielder he is - but is he the best defensive midfielder to take us forward - then no - this isn't a Lucas bashing it's aimed at a number of players.

2 years ago we had Alonso, Masecharo, Torres, Riera; have those players been replaced with better or worse players?

Now i'm not knocking Suareaz as I think he's going to be huge for us what i'm saying is we need a beater starting line up

I personally believe liverpool fans need to get real our team yesterday showed how poor the squad was rather then individual players.i love this site but don't understand the constant bashing of lucas .

He came to LFC as a highly regarded and was actually the youngest winner of Bola de Ouro award given to the best young talent in brasil (ex winners KAKA Zico and Tevez).He got slatted by us as supporters in his early years and just put his head down and tried to improve and eventually started becoming one of our better players.

LFC failed him he had the potential to become a great player instead we took his talent and made him go backwards.Rafa won the Champions league but with Houlliers team +Alonso since then our youngsters are more miss then hit .KK will nature the youngsters and i hope we sign 2-3 players in the summer and offload alot of players yet give the youngsters a chance.Our wonderful team will never be back challenging until we find the next Gerard , Fowler , Owen and Carragher instead of buying mercenary players that care about their careers rather then LFC.For me Lucas and Kuyt are not the greatest to wear the shirt but the give 100%With Clarke and KK Lucas will be the player he is for brasil.

One thing i noticed yesterdays match was we were playing mostly from the right with kelly showing how great a talent he is and on the left Wilson(although defensive solid) rarely attacking.For the system to work you need a balance.

I saw a post the other day about a player called Fetfatzidis, do you think that he could be a good addition to the squad if we went for him? {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

Real Madrid will never buy Sergio Aguero off of Atletico Madrid; it would be like Nani coming to Liverpool!

And also ed are you sure Aguero's wages would be ridiculous bearing in mind Spurs tried to buy him and they aren't massive wage givers?
(sorry about the time)

You two are SUCH fantastic Liverpool fans, both having fun slagging of our players, personaly if my wife openly slagged of one of our own players during a game i would be so ashamed of her, but what do i know, I'm just a Liverpool fan! !

MR EM

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

It's more my opinion than 'slagging off'. I'm sure you'll agree that poulsen hasn't done much to warrant any praise whatsoever from anyone. I still support them both no matter what when there wearing the red shirt but it doesn't deny the fact that they aren't good enough, especially poulsen.

Stu.

As i said kuyt is not being played in his position he never was and never will be a winger he is a striker.
earlier in the season raul was being played out of position at right mid and didn't look great now he is in his proper position he looks ten times better.
anyway the point i was trying to make was that dirk is NOT trying harder in order to get a new contract but has always and will always give 100%.
if every liverpool player had dirks attitude we would be unbeatable.
in an age of overpayed primadonnas i think dirk is a shining example to all i am sure he would love to play in his natural position yet he plays where he is asked for the team and how often is he injured? a model pro and a great example to kids.
saying that i have gerrard 8 on my shirt but respect were respect is due.
