Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

26 Aug 2016 22:23:54
klavan has stated that he didn't believe Liverpool were interested in him and thought it was a prank, until Klopp sent him a selfie.
Is this not going to get us in trouble again for tapping up? Surely a manager shouldn't be texting a player at another side.

Believable0 Unbelievable13

26 Aug 2016 23:33:47
You should work for the Daily Mail.

26 Aug 2016 23:49:49
Fgs! Pull the other one. Remember all the charges we were facing from uefa and all the doom and gloom about it posted on here? Ended up in £16k fine. Now then who's to say klopp didn't have permission to speak to the player? Why jump to that conclusion? The Gerrard book thing was stupid but it was clearly written to sell books and we'd successfully argue that in any hearing. (Non of which have or will happen because there's been no wrongdoing) . Ignore the nonsense scare mongering posted by rival fans.

27 Aug 2016 01:41:19
Yeah cause his ex club are petty enough to report us to UEFA over a player they've already sold to us (sarcasm) .

27 Aug 2016 09:41:13
grass.

27 Aug 2016 10:14:59
1) Sending a "selfie" is not tapping up.
2) We had probably agreed a fee by then anyway.

27 Aug 2016 10:53:56
If we had agreed a fee, then klavan would have surely known it wasn't a Joke.

26 Aug 2016 22:16:35
Pulisic is a very well regarded talent who would be a good signing on paper. But the question begs again, do we need him?

Believable7 Unbelievable8

26 Aug 2016 22:28:48
A left footer, Good pace and good control. Is Coutinho on his way?

26 Aug 2016 22:32:24
With Markovic out on loan it would make sense to groom a young winger.

26 Aug 2016 22:38:28
Need him? Probably not, but he's young and well though of, so might play a minor role now and a bigger one in the future. Clearly Klopp rates him pretty highly and we could use with a more natural left winger in the side to offer something a bit different to Coutinho.

26 Aug 2016 22:58:16
I think pulisic is a good player but if it blocks Kent, ojo and other young attacking players that we have a responsibility for, then I will be a bit annoyed.

Very similar situation to Gini. Why couldn't we give Brannghan the chance he deserves and save 25 million?

26 Aug 2016 23:05:52
I would say ya left foot we only have mane and Ojo as wingers . And Klopp thinking about now and in the future . But i would not go no higher than 15 mil.

27 Aug 2016 01:38:07
I don't know much about him but we Definitely a naturally left footed player to play on that flank. Moreno is wasteful and a terrible defender and Milner is more solid but slowed down our attacks as he was reluctant to use his left. Not sure why we don't just give ojo more time there instead so at least Milner can release someone into those spaces that can actually use it ( as opposed to over lapping to see effect)

27 Aug 2016 03:55:45
is he really left footed? thought he's right footed.

27 Aug 2016 04:49:37
He can be no footed for all I care as long as he's good enough.

27 Aug 2016 09:38:11
He's 17! I don't know many 17 year olds playing for their clubs let alone one of the top clubs. He's also an international. If we get him for11m then it's a steal. Look at what bang average players are going for.
If the money is there then 100% buy him.

27 Aug 2016 10:08:05
He's 18 in 3 wks time. He's a really good player but I think he's probably trying to be bought to eventually replace Coutinho, but can still get game time as he can play right Left or number 10. I think Dortmund would want a bit more for him though. I can't see why nobody would want such a talent regardless of age.

27 Aug 2016 10:17:28
He's young, he's German - we're interested.

But are we? We have Ojo and Harry Wilson. How many players do we need to stockpile, deny them game time and let their careers pass them by?

27 Aug 2016 12:15:54
If he's good enough and Klopp wants him for next year then I'm OK. I can see Llalana and Milner moving on eventually and Coutinho moving central or needing a backup so a left footed young forward doesn't feel like the worst investment in the world. Ojo should be backup to Mane on the right IMO, very similar players even if at different stages of development.

26 Aug 2016 22:05:43
Hi Ed1,Tony Barrett has said we have made an £11m off for 17yr Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic. Any truth to this? I understand he is young and one possibly for the future, but do you know anything about the kid and his potential? I assume this is one Klopp has known from his time at Dortmund which i think is a promising sign!

Believable2 Unbelievable9

{Ed091's Note - Another AM, doubt it.

26 Aug 2016 22:12:37
He's a decent player already and obviously could get quite a bit better. No idea if there's anything to it or not, but £11M seems a bit low to me and I would think they'd maybe want more than that.

26 Aug 2016 22:16:21
Wasn't that the kid that Moreno lunged at in the corner in one of the games against Dortmund.

26 Aug 2016 22:25:25
He is a winger and a good one. No signs of a left back, I can't believe myself.

26 Aug 2016 22:27:07
And probably missed.

26 Aug 2016 22:56:18
I can't believe this football manager sh*te that the club are playing, just buy a bloody left back and stop stockpiling atracking mids - aaaarrrrgghhhh.

It's beyond a joke now - laughing stock.

27 Aug 2016 00:37:42
Pretty sure the club can mutlitask and handle two signings at once if it wanted to, johnny. No idea why we're not doing anything about a LB, but it also has nothing to do with the potential signing of a promising winger.

27 Aug 2016 07:20:32
RDL, I'm sure the club can multi-task but in this case it doesn't seem to be bothering - the more we spend on 'promising' in positions we're well stocked in means less to spend on 'quality' and 'experience' in a position we're currently using a midfield player to fill.

26 Aug 2016 19:56:48
Young Ben Woodburn with a 1st half brace at the Emirates. The 2nd was a great finish.

Believable7 Unbelievable11

26 Aug 2016 20:59:58
Finished Arsenal u23 1- Liverpool u23 3

Toni Gomes scores third goal.

26 Aug 2016 21:57:35
A "more" senior team against Arsenal after losing the first two games of the season 1-4 apiece against S'oton and Chelsea, with Lucas and Wisdom starting at the back and Brannagan and Randall playing the whole game while Ejaria returned from injury.

26 Aug 2016 20:12:36
Can he play left back?

26 Aug 2016 17:28:21
Personally, I'd like to see Grujic start tomorrow. I think with Çan seemingly out of the game, he'd bring physicality, strength and height to our midfield that we would lack with Lallana or Wijnaldum. Thoughts on this people?
Also Grujic didn't play Tuesday so was he being held back for this game I wonder?

Believable11 Unbelievable13

{Ed091's Note - I would play Grujic too. To help and take the pressure of Henderson and his extremely poor start to the year. GW to drop out for him. Imo

26 Aug 2016 17:40:13
Why do you feel Hendo is struggling so bad ed? We talk about wrong position etc but that's doesn't stop you playing a simple 5 yard pass.

{Ed091's Note - there is something clearly wrong with him at the moment. He is a good player, but his performances are getting to the stage of being ridiculous. Simple passes going astray, long balls going out of play. Getting caught napping on the ball and his reluctance to pass forward are my concerns. He is never going to be David silva with the ball at his feet, but his pros ( Athletism, strength, bravery, reading of a game, leadership) are going backwards. He is such a confidence player, and when it's high, he's a machine, but right now he is in a rut mentally and it's affecting him big time.

26 Aug 2016 17:43:24
Yes agreed ed. Also it makes players realise there's competition for places and there's no guaranteed starting place; not even for a £25m player.

26 Aug 2016 17:44:09
Wijnaldum is definitely playing in the place of Lallana. Hendo ll partner Stewart in the middle else we are conceding plenty. I have no idea y Klopp prefers Wijnaldum ( May be to make a point, His signings are always a success )

{Ed091's Note - I like GW. As an overall player. however it reeks of the Milner saga last season. He is not a cm, and he certainly wasn't needed this transfer window.
Maybe klopp has a plan for him? Who knows right now.

26 Aug 2016 17:52:37
The only plan is to keep playing and he justifies his price tag Ed091. Going forward Klopp will understand he should have spend that money on a CDM.

{Ed091's Note - Liverpool have can henderson Lucas and Stewart to play that "position"

26 Aug 2016 17:58:56
You do realize Ed091, Lucas has not kicked a ball this season with the senior team and he was on the verge of leaving. Can was so indisciplined in that role which cost us the EL against Sevilla. Stewart is the only player who could play there while we all saw what happened with Henderson when he played there without any protection. It's a day light reality we don't have a playee there unless you ask two players to hold the line regularly.

{Ed091's Note - I do not disagree with you P&L

26 Aug 2016 18:21:25
You have great weekend Ed091. Cheers.

{Ed091's Note - you're welcome. Thanks and ditto.

26 Aug 2016 20:43:32
Tbh would like to see stewart deeper with can and Grujic ahead if hendo is looking to have a little time to take the pressure off. Think stewart was good in preseason and would like to see if he can carry it through and would just like to see Grujic play.

GW just doesn't seem to fit like ed91 said similar to the milner saga.

26 Aug 2016 20:45:22
Edd091 hendersons not been the same since his injury mate. His level hasn't been the same nor improved as many expected him to really take his game to the next level. I think it was always going to be a mistake making him captain aswell . The lad doesn't deal with the pressure well and sometimes becomes a passenger. It's only august so I expect him to improve but he also needs help in that midfield something lallana and Wijnaldum doesn't offer. Big year for henderson and a few players.

{Ed091's Note - Nail. Head.

26 Aug 2016 22:02:34
Lucas played for the U23s today and won't be involved for Spurs tomorrow as he hasn't traveled. Emre Can apparently has a knock and will probably start from the bench alongside Origi and Coutinho, both of whom also have slight knocks.

Personally, I think Wijanldum should start from the bench; he struggles when it is combative in midfield and it certainly will be with Wanyama and Dier starting for Spurs. If Emre Can is fit enough to start, I would start him deep and push Henderson alongside Lallana with Firmino dropping into Coutinho's position and Sturridge starting up top with Mane returning to the right.

At the back, we have been poor for a while and I would bring in Matip alongside Lovren and Moreno instead of Milner.

26 Aug 2016 22:08:28
Tbf tho, can has looked equally exposed at times in that deep lying position. For me that position needs to be pkayed by someone who can play it (duh! ) Or they need to be paired with that defensive minded player to then allow hendo/ can freedom to get forward. The tactical aspect of that position looks like its frying borh their brains. Could be good for their long term benefit mind.

26 Aug 2016 22:27:04
Ed91, his best season was when he was more free in the middle, with gerrard and coutinho/ Allen, do you think it's the more disciplined role or the pressure of being captain that's getting to him?

27 Aug 2016 07:48:22
I will say the pressure of being captain.

27 Aug 2016 09:22:52
I disagree with almost everything said by every poster on this thread. It would honestly take me 3 hours to argue everything on here that I want to argue, so I'll just leave it at that!

27 Aug 2016 09:32:41
MK lad I couldn't agree with you any more and it's always the same posters, always good to see that they are fully behind our team and players.

26 Aug 2016 17:20:32
Ed002 I see that the appreciation society has gone a bit dull lately. You not been feeling the love here recently?

Believable1 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - I didn't know that and of course I don't know who runs it, but I appoint you my head of boosting. Sign up for the Ed002 Appreciation Society at: tinyurl.com/c6j7t2m }

26 Aug 2016 17:28:33
Ed I don't do Facebook bud. Ex took it along with th nectar card in the divorce.
Hats off to you for your service to us and our ongoing onslaught of questions. You do crack me up with the replies.

That drink offer will for ever stand.

{Ed091's Note - San Miguel with lime, please.

26 Aug 2016 18:07:51
I see what you did there Ed091. Stealing 002's drinks. A man can't pass a free drink though.

{Ed091's Note - did you never play mine sweeper in a bar tj?

26 Aug 2016 21:52:51
I don't get it. But no I didn't haha.

Next week will see the unveiling of 2x Rodriguez as LFC players as a statement of intent from our new Chinese Investors

James
Ricardo.

Believable2 Unbelievable32

26 Aug 2016 11:31:30
What?

26 Aug 2016 11:33:54
Oh I love these statements of intent.

26 Aug 2016 11:57:34
😂 just 😂😂😂.

26 Aug 2016 12:09:24
If they don't get Jay from Southampton and Jese from Madrid, and thus make it x4 Rodriguez then they clearly aren't committed enough and are therefore not what we need or want!

26 Aug 2016 12:24:04
I think even 4x rodriguez would be a little generous.

26 Aug 2016 12:25:23
You really reignite my expectations for deadline day with a solid statement like that! can't wait for us to purge some of them lovely chinese money!

26 Aug 2016 12:33:10
Can we sign Maxi Rodriguez again?

26 Aug 2016 12:54:07
thought I'd add a bit of the good ol' days back in - you know - the days when Aguero was seen ordering Fish, Chips and mushy peas in the Chippy with Carra.

26 Aug 2016 15:42:48
And what is the intent?

{Ed002's Note - It is a place you can visit where they have Wikipedia and the Daily Express websites that Liverpool fans are so keen on.}

26 Aug 2016 16:08:30
Its just Chinese whispers.

26 Aug 2016 16:31:18
😆 @ ed002.

Post of the day. 🏆.

26 Aug 2016 17:55:33
Sorry Ed02- you're wrong on this one

The " intent" is to make a couple of "Marquee" signings, "pitch" it as we are here to get back to the summit, "peg" back the opposition and all in all get as many "tenting" links in as possible.

26 Aug 2016 20:46:28
Even if we were in for James, I would say the money would be spent in the wrong area. We buy GW, have plenty of attacking options it would be moronic to then buy James who would cost a bomb, when LB is a ridiculous AM, getting dropped then Milner being subbed for AM. SHould literally look for a proper LB.

26 Aug 2016 13:16:32
And Jay Rodriguez?

26 Aug 2016 23:16:37
just seen james rodriguez in the black horse on county road must be true.

26 Aug 2016 04:31:02
Just heard Coutinho is a doubt for Spurs. I rate Klopp but we are turning in to a bit of an Arsenal on the injury front. I don't know if it is Klopp, or the S&C coach, or the intense training (which I guess would be Klopp), or the demands placed on the players in games. Everyone was celebrating the KM ran in the Arsenal game, but in reality we should have been concerned to have worked that hard and conceded 3 goals. Not the German efficiency we see in the auto industry!
Hopefully this won't be an ongoing saga and Verheijen will be kept quiet.

Believable1 Unbelievable24

{Ed001's Note - he will never be quiet because he is trying to get publicity for his 'method' which he sells around the world to the gullible. Intense training does not cause the injuries or the distance covered, it is lack of fitness which does that. If anything they need to train harder, they do not do enough stamina work, not enough running, because players find it boring.}

26 Aug 2016 06:47:06
What an idiotic and naive post. In regards to the defence, we all know our frailties, but if a player isn't available he isn't available. Finally, complaining about the Arsenal game, we won so move on. Makes sense to complain more about an inept attacking line against Burnely, I suppose we have to blame all that running on that too.

26 Aug 2016 07:13:12
Fully with you here ed001. Verheijen is correct about fatigue leading to some injuries but he misses the key point that Klopp is trying to address - that the players fitness levels are not good enough!

{Ed001's Note - fatigue leads to injuries in matches, that is correct, but you don't address that by resting them in training. You have to improve their basic fitness levels by working them harder in training and not following this idiotic red zone crap. No point in selling something obvious though, it has to sound scientific to fool idiots into paying for it. Hence red zone/green zone, to make this nonsense into something that can fool those with little real intelligence, such as footballers....}

26 Aug 2016 08:43:31
Hi eds, "lack of fitness. " so actually how fit a player need to be to be totally injury free? Surely its a process and if its a process then it will always start off as unfit. Then its up to manager to moderate the intensity of training to match current fitness level. So it is intense training called by the manager. U r just skipping the question.

{Ed001's Note - if you actually asked a question that was understandable I would answer it. How can a player, who has grown up playing football on a daily basis, start off as unfit? He must have a basic level of fitness and just need to up it. In the old days they would run and run and run, to improve basic fitness and stamina. Nowadays players are pampered little children who think they are too good to just run, so they do not get fit enough in preseason, as they simply aren't putting in the work.}

26 Aug 2016 09:18:20
Coutinho has a minor problem, these things happen. What I'm happiest about is not being too worried about his absence. I'm already starting to think that Mane offers a more reliable and consistent threat than the little magician and is a more important player overall. Sure, Couts would be a loss but with Firmino, Lallana, Wijnaldum, Ings and Origi we have plenty of options. Maybe Ojo's injury and Markovic's departure might even make a space on the bench for Ejaria? :)

26 Aug 2016 09:48:08
Leek, no level of fitness can completely avoid injury in a contact sport. The little niggles and knocks you take in matches can build up.
But, if you want an example of the level of fitness players ought to strive for I'd say Christiano Ronaldo is that example. He is supremely fit, doesn't suffer a lot of injuries, but plays a lot of games, has a very high intensity performance level and takes a lot of hits.

26 Aug 2016 10:41:14
Coutinho trained yesterday so can't be that bad!

26 Aug 2016 10:52:37
Spot on Ron!

26 Aug 2016 11:11:26
Coutinho missed the training yesterday with a hamstring injury. Reported.

26 Aug 2016 11:08:10
Ed001, fully agree with you, running was the reason why I was so fit in the army and never got injured as my fitness level was so high. Like you say most modern prima donna footballers are to up themselves to do something so mediocre. I remember playing football in the Cypriot hot afternoons for 90mins having completed an 8 mile forced March in the morning.
Come on Jurgen get them running, don't pussy foot around them. Your way or the highway.

Baz.

{Ed001's Note - agreed. Steve McManaman very rarely suffered injury due to him being a cross country runner in his younger days.~

26 Aug 2016 12:44:08
We do have a lot of injuries though. More than many other pl clubs.

26 Aug 2016 14:27:03
Edd001 I do my stretches and warm up mate before I have a kick about with my mates and son. Nearly every time I'm cramping up or feel like I'm pulling something. Any ideas mate? I'm 6,4, lean build and eat healthy enough. I just assumed I was a tall Micheal Owen .

26 Aug 2016 14:27:03

{Ed001's Note - sounds like a lack of potassium at a guess. It could be a number of things, I remember someone who used to get it from drinking too much plain water, you should always add either small amount of sea salt or something like fruit juice or powdered green tea extract to your water. Other thing that might help is bananas.}

26 Aug 2016 15:29:34
im no expert Al, bt u should also consider looking at your warmup maybe? apparently there are dos and donts of warmups that may cause that.

ed001 or other posters who know may even chip in if you guys know.

the donts of warmups were definitely how i was taught as a kid in school. some videos on youtube might help you too.

{Ed001's Note - it can be hundreds of things really, but the likeliest is diet issues, as most people suffer from a poor diet.}

26 Aug 2016 15:33:49
Edd001 cheers mate, I'll add those to the grocery list.

26 Aug 2016 16:00:03
For years I thought I suffered solely from muscle cramp due to diet. Turns out I am more prone to cramping due to having something called tendonitis. Essentially, my tendons sometimes go into a spasm and the tightening of the muscle apparently makes me more at risk of severe cramp.

Sadly it requires on operation to correct.

26 Aug 2016 15:44:23
You're just getting old Al, trust me, I've been there 😉.

26 Aug 2016 16:26:34
A lot of physios suggest active stretching before exercise (leg kicks, backward jogging, lunges, etc) and passive stretching yoga-style after exercise.

26 Aug 2016 20:46:40
ANnie I do warm up and stretch. Maybe I'm lacking in something.
Haha ron true.

26 Aug 2016 20:50:02
Depends what is tight AL.

I suffer from very tight calves, i don't know what developed it maybe when i tore my ligament. But you just got to stretch it, not even just before matches/ kickabout, i mean like every single day.

26 Aug 2016 22:11:52
Dynamic stretches!

26 Aug 2016 13:25:26
Ron, your CR7 reference is spot on. If you are not fit, you will continue to get knocks and minor injuries which will eventually slow you down. See Studge for example. My coach used to tell me that fitness is the key to performing at an optimal level and not skill because with no fitness, your skill will never show.

CR7 is simply a beast on the training ground and his work ethic is second to none. The guy trains everyday and plays a lot of games and has done this for years hence, his body is tailored to take it because well, his body is used to the regimen he is on and this allows him to play at 100% output every game.

In the old days as Ed said, players ran laps on the training pitch, on the beaches (for strength and endurance) and before training till they were blue in the face and still had to endure a hard afternoon or night on the training pitch. Now, they find it beneath them to do it. players of today wouldn`t survive the old days.

26 Aug 2016 01:49:07
Eds any update on stadium naming? Could this be the Chinese bid or something entirely different?
Either way, seems like a great opportunity financially for the club if you trust the owners?

Thanks for all your work.

Believable1 Unbelievable11

{Ed001's Note - no idea, not something I would have any way of finding out about, nor would I try. It is irrelevant to me. Nothing to do with football.}

26 Aug 2016 08:05:06
If only you were right Ed, unfortunately money has a lot to do with football.

26 Aug 2016 11:51:27
Doesn't matter what the money men try and call it - it's Anfield and always will be.

26 Aug 2016 14:20:07
How about Anfield Special Stadium .

26 Aug 2016 14:34:36
I'm fully behind Fsg, but if this proposed Chinese bid is true, then I hope it comes true.

I watched a local report recently regarding the Chinese investment in Manchester, and if this proposition could kick-start something similar, then it's a win-win in my eyes.

26 Aug 2016 15:47:00
FSG are apparently only offering a minor investment, so if that is the case I don't think it will spark anything. Why would a minority partner put any money into the club unless it's to become the majority partner (which is not on the table) ?

26 Aug 2016 16:01:21
The Big Macca Arena?

26 Aug 2016 19:35:36
Lads, I was only joking about the naming of the stadium, as in special, chinese, MK much the same, trying to raise a smile or two .
