The eds ed1 and ed2 have really guessed and predicted wrong this window!

Believable3 Unbelievable16

{Ed002's Note - I am sorry you are not happy with it Tony - feel free to go elsewhere. Most of the folks on this page are happy to receive whatever information that we can share - but there is always the brain dead cocksucking element like you that will throw the Dail Express in our faces.}

Eds I wouldn't take it personally. Obviously seen his name is wrong, it should be Kermit or Wozzy Bear being he's such a muppet.

What a miserable excuse for a human being. This is the one site I know of on the net where 99% of what you read isn't utter garbage, and you still want to criticise the Editors?
Do you really want to have to trawl through pages of lies on the metro site, or caught offside? Really?
Its plain good manners to show some appreciation when people give you something you never had, and all you can do is attack them.
If you don't like it it then get the hell off the site, and don't spoil the only source of genuine information most of us fans will ever have.

Stupid post and a poor excuse of a wind up.

Agree3 Disagree1

27 Aug 2015 04:37:14
well if you have seen sopranos the series- tony sopranos is the muppet in the show. Why do even post that sort of thing. and eds have been always right . they have always said where the interest lies and who certain clubs are looking at. whatever happens next depends on too many factors as ed002 has repeatedly brought to our knowledge.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Aug 2015 05:04:17
I would just like to say that I don't post often but read this site with interest each day and find the information and opinions shared by ed's 1+2 very insightful and informative, helps me look like I've a little football knowledge when having a few pints with the mates!

Any update on potential destinations for Enrique eds? Also wondering what the situation with Markovic is, seems pretty low down the pecking order right now, is there any chance of him going out on loan?

Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing for enrique. Markovic will stay - the club has already screwed up the chance for him to get his career back on track by over-pricing a move. Bit player this season - exit next summer.}

26 Aug 2015 23:38:32
Ed I'm not having a pop

1/ because I prefer a discussion with you and 2/ because I've just seen your response to tony 'the not happy because you aren't physic' soprano.

But you keep mentioning about Liverpool refusing to pay the proper rate for players and messing clubs around but then subtly have a pop when they put a big price on a player

Markovic cost us nearly 25 million and you mentioned last season about some very high extra costs. Why should we sell oj the cheap and what would you price him at? And what would you say if the club let him go on the cheap?

I get people say we should of let him develop etx but these players don't have to make the move do thru? They no the risks of joining such big clubs.

I for one would always makr the move because for example say stones doesn't move now but then blows his knee out after the window closes then that could be it and he might never get the move. I do believe you should always make the move but it is at your own risk.

Sorry ed only wanted to ask one question but went on abit.

To clarify I AM NOT HAVING A GO AT YOU. Do not Blow my head off.

Agree7 Disagree1

27 Aug 2015 07:33:35
What we did with the Suarez money was outrageous. Lallana, Lazar, Balotelli, Lambert ! Utter Disgrace, spending for the sake of it.
Thankfully we've had a brilliant window this time around but your completely correct, we should try to recoup some money for the players, Chelsea seem to do well when it comes to this

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 09:39:50
@DBol, you mentioned Chelsea in a fair way in your post. These threads Chelsea are supposed to be used like a stick to hit Ed002 so I'll say it (tongue in cheek) before anyone gets on actually being serious

It's so unfair Ed002 if this was Chelsea you would say they are giving him more time to grow as a human being. Somebody will be hired to cut his hair and take him out for walks around the City so that he feels loved. You will see a different player, a more mature player, in 12 months time and even if he doesn't work out at Chelsea then it'll stand to the boy in the long term.

How do you know Liverpool are not doing this? ? Well, Ed002, how is my 'waah Chelsea' impression?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I explained last summer that Chelsea did not take Markovicnbecause he wasn't ready - a year later no playing time, priced out of a sale and he is still not ready. Chelsea are I am sure very pleased wih the profit they made from him.}

28 Aug 2015 10:07:24
@Ed002, yep I remember you made that perfectly clear at the time. I had never seen him play but obviously from seeing him last season it would have been clear from even watching him a half dozen times before signing him.

I don't know what Chelsea paid for their 50% share, don't really care, but ya they will be very pleased with getting a little over £10m for it.

My post was intended just to take the mick out of us Liverpool supporters where some few seem obsessed with having a go at Chelsea - maybe I should have used "Chelsea got it wrong with Kevin De Bruyne" or something but I am only messing and I know Chelsea still got good money for a young player they didn't need and they let him go to further his career.

Something I've been meaning to ask eds, do FA rules state each club can only have one sponsor on its kits? (Excluding training gear etc) if so do u see it changing? (Not to the extent of south american kits though!)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, they have limits on sponsors, the dimensions of advertising, etc.. It is written in to the annual regs (with pictures for those clubs not bright enough to understand the words alone.}

26 Aug 2015 19:12:01
Malak. I was going to reply to your comment about Rodgers needing his ego topping up but it was the last comment on the page so I figured no point.
There's something eerily accurate about that comment.
Who would have guessed our style would revert or regress so rapidly after we finished second?
His ego was full. I fear your prediction may well come true.
I will also gladly eat my words though.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

26 Aug 2015 21:45:28
Nothing to do with ego IMO. The difference between 2 years ago and last year was all Suarez. The style of our play wasn't very different over the last two years but this is a stle of play which suits very few players. Suarez was one of them, many of our players last years struggled with it. This year too early to tell.

Great job on P4 men. Very enjoyable. Any insights into what this weekend's one will be about?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not sure yet, depends on if anything happens to talk about between now and then.}

26 Aug 2015 20:57:52
Saying as it's transfer window time, what about one on the Transfer Committee ?
Who's roles are what, who directs the scouts, how their information is assessed by the committee, how the final choices are made, the bidding process and FSG's input, and how the Board of Directors get involved ?

The TC process still confuses me.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 21:07:09
Hi Ed001, this may bore other people but I must say i'm interested in the review that took place throughout last season and what actions are now in place (i.e. are we going to treat foreign players differently than previously in terms of support; have we got development plans for youth players, what does the future hold for the team, when will FSG decide spending needs to be based upon money within the club, etc. ).

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - This has been done to death Hoola, you can search and read more about it. I suspect most of it was at a higher level than you imagine.}

27 Aug 2015 08:01:51
OK thanks Ed!

Ed001, weren't you going to make a podcast about FSG?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, I still intend to do so.}

26 Aug 2015 18:09:31
Just wondering Eds, is there any chance you are considering a way for us to post photos in future?

I just wanted to share this:
While trying to find out if Sean Dundee is indeed still playing, I very much enjoyed the photos of some of his teammates at Büchig.

Congratulations to massive Liverpool fan Van Niekerk, on winning the 400 meters gold at the world championships. YNWA or maybe that should be you'll never run alone?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - just hope he doesn't do what the hammer thrower gold medal winner did after picking up the trophy. Went out on the lash and used the medal to pay for his taxi ride home. Divvy!}

26 Aug 2015 18:20:12
Just a doubt, Is bolt a Liverpool fan?

{Ed001's Note - Usain Bolt supports Man Utd.}

he got it back ed001 thankfully

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not sure I would have had any sympathy if he lost it personally. Might have taught him a valuable lesson.}

26 Aug 2015 20:08:28
Did he really get it back? That's a great ending.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 20:03:47
Yeah I heard about that Ed001, calling him divvy is very polite of you, imagine what his trainer called him!?

Van Niekerk had to be stretched from the stadium, he couldn't walk after the race because he'd put his all into it.

Plus it was the first time ever three men had gone under 44 seconds. So well done lad, just hope our lads give it their all this season like he did to be a winner.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - stretched from the stadium? I now have visions of him on the rack.....}

27 Aug 2015 03:31:32
I take it he was hammered!

Agree3 Disagree1

26 Aug 2015 23:50:34
Gerrard is no longer in our team, he's done loads for us and i don't think asking this question is a ''dismiss'' or dismissal to what Gerrard has done for us, or even a slight against the man.

We have no Gerard and so far it's not looking like a train wreck three games in. It's a fair question to ask in my opinion.

Agree3 Disagree1

26 Aug 2015 13:37:46
Ed001- Quick question, I know its very early days, but what is your opinion on the impact of Pepjin and the job he is doing.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - clearly he is having a large impact, as Rodgers felt confident throwing on Rossiter against Arsenal. That is a big step that comes from having faith in the work he is doing.}

26 Aug 2015 12:47:16
Eds, how do you guys see the debate about Rodgers and his tactics/style of play/ all round management.
It seems to me that its gotten beyond a debate now and certain posters are getting very pissy and angry about the whole thing. Everyone is going to have a different point of view but don't you think some posters are taking it a little bit too far now?
You can't seem to disagree with other people any more without risking being torn a new one.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is just the way it goes, it will calm down in time.}

26 Aug 2015 12:45:49
Ed001 I noticed you said you would be interested to hear what lucas had to say, But idlike to ask if you could have a 1 hour off the record chat with any current player who would it be and why ?

thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - current player, Skrtel, to find out what he has over Rodgers to keep getting picked.}

26 Aug 2015 18:22:04
Allen? The whole club would be up from sale except Allen😄😄😄

Agree3 Disagree2

26 Aug 2015 19:08:42
Skrtel and co have kept 3 clean sheets if the forwards were doing their jobs we would have 9pts

Agree5 Disagree5

26 Aug 2015 19:34:04
Funny because, a lot of ex player sect have Skirtel in there first 11. I think there is something we don't see.

Mine would be lallana and ask him does he feel embarrassed after every game?

Agree5 Disagree4

26 Aug 2015 23:41:54
Mine would be coutinho because his smile would brighten up my day

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 19:48:12
Og

The day Ed01 becomes Skrtel fan you could see the whole page turns to a Sketel fan page. Apart from dropping deep ( ed01 rightly pointed out ) people have no idea what to go at him. 😄😄😄😄

I love you mate Ed01 😄😄😄😄

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it will never happen, unless he learns how to hold a line and work with his team mates. Well I would never be a fan of his anyway, because of his petty tantrums when he was offered more money to leave for Citeh.}

27 Aug 2015 02:20:56
Mine would be Allen and Skrtel as well. Especially Allen. Is he BR's bro from another mother or did Allen save him from drowning hence owes his life to always seems to move scorched earth to pick him

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Aug 2015 03:37:58
Mine would be Enrique, as being of a slightly older generation, I don't always get the nuances of social media and he could provide some decent mentoring.

Barclays have boxed off the senior citizens, the youth of today get it anyway, but I'm in the middle ground casually working my way through life. Enrique's skills in social media could be just the mentoring option I need!

Plus he's doing f*ck all football wise, so he should have loads of spare time to help. Maybe even a podcast?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am going to have to see if I can get hold of him and ask him to do a podcast. Just to see his reaction when I tell him his future is clearly in social media.}

26 Aug 2015 16:10:47
Ed,s sorry if this has been asked before, but with the winners of the Europa league going into the champions league next season. What happens if the winners finish high enough in their own league to qualify any way. Do the losing finalist qualify

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

26 Aug 2015 16:52:31
@Rec since 64

People have every right to express their opinion about the manager, it's not up to you to tell people to give it a rest when their opinions aren't in line with your own.

Flanno DM?

26 Aug 2015 18:32:14
Love flanno but he's no defensive midfielder. Chirivella maybe

Agree3 Disagree1

26 Aug 2015 18:48:49
Let's hope Flanno can make it back on the pitch as a first step.

Agree3 Disagree1

26 Aug 2015 20:56:00
Flano has played lb & rb why not the middle. Has a good engine to get up & down why not ?

Agree1 Disagree2

27 Aug 2015 02:24:00
Red 64 is just a part of BR's army of acolytes who tend to feel offended when someone takes a jab at their BFF and then they start saying that people shouldn't post comments that don't rhyme wit heir opinions. So much for free speech with their lot, right?

Agree1 Disagree2

27 Aug 2015 07:36:06
Some complain when people have needless pops at the manager.
Others complain when people are happy with a good result at the Emirates.

If you want "free speech" that's a two way street for every comment, but this website belongs to the Eds so what is published is up to them.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 15:36:38
Like many others I was very skeptical at the start of the season but am very pleased with the 7 points. We have been lucky but this will add to our confidence and we can build from here.

Our attacking play was much better too against arsenal and i hope we can further improve on that too.

I would just like to see another striker play along side Benteke. Especially with his knock downs. We could probably slot ings in there and the Stturidge benteke partnership promises much. But how to accommodate that is something the manager has to work out.

The biggest game is always the next one. No point in all the hard work put in if we can't beat west ham.

YNWA

Believable5 Unbelievable1

26 Aug 2015 17:49:10
I agree, I would like to see us going with a 3-5-2 against WestHam. Skrtel Lovren Gomez - Clyne Lucas Milner Firmino Coutinho - Ings Benteke

Agree1 Disagree9

26 Aug 2015 18:23:20
So the captain goes to bench?

Agree0 Disagree1

26 Aug 2015 18:32:44
Wob

3 at the back will leave too much space behind the WB and we would go back to 5 at the back. That's a massive failure considering we have plenty of attaching players.

Let's not change the team just to accommodate players.
4-3-3 for me with two player on each flanks taking on oops site full backs.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 18:33:42
Would like to see a diamond with benteke and Ings up top

Agree6 Disagree2

26 Aug 2015 23:38:25
Think Henderson is going to be out for another few games. just think it would be worth going three at the back to mix things up a bit. It worked well for us for a long time last year til teams found a counter to it

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 02:26:37
Don't know if you were asleep last season but the three at the back doesn't work because we don't have players suited for that system and besides Wob, your line up is missing a LWB except you want Firmino or Coutinho to play there

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Aug 2015 08:08:05
I remember we put together a decent run around March with that system Redohio. As for LWB/LW I would stick Milner in there with Lucas sittin between him an Clyne the two of them would provide excellent service to Benteke with Ings Firmino Coutinho to pick up the second ball

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 17:28:15
Milner is not a WB hence your system is flawed, as are your comments

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 15:16:14
Illarramendi has signed for Sociedad,putting to bed the constant summer paper talk.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2015 17:28:55
Thankfully there was never a chance for LFC to sign him. Very average player returning to his former club after failing to hack it at a much bigger club.

Agree3 Disagree2

26 Aug 2015 18:25:07
Indian

He is not a very average player. technically sound player and his season at Sociedad was fantastic.

Now coming back to Real and the players getting picked. Real plays for entertainment.

Agree1 Disagree5

27 Aug 2015 02:30:09
Illara couldn't take Alonso's job at RM when he was bought for over 30m euros to do just that and was given assurances that he was his heir apparent. Don't know if he's average or not but I know for a fact that he isn't better than Lucas, Milner, he door Can so again EG, what would he b doing here or is he going to have his career stunted like Markovic's is because it seems we are really good at that?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - we will be able to see now he is at Sociedad, but from what I saw of him Madrid were sold a pup. I never understood why they wanted him. Extremely average player.}

27 Aug 2015 06:14:32
Spot on, Ed! I have seen him play a few times and frankly, I am not impressed. Maybe that shirt was too big for him and he was maybe not ready for the step up so like you say, we shall see.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 14:42:03
Harry Wilson has been sent on youth loan to crewe Alexandra. why are we not aiming to send our youngsters to atleast championship level clubs which will improve thier game. is it the championship clubs don't want our youngsters or our club management is lazy to find a proper club for them

Believable3 Unbelievable8

26 Aug 2015 16:16:13

Sorry - silly comment; League 1 for a player that is 18 years old and does not have the same strength as Sterling or Ibe is a good move IMO.

If he does well and exceeds until January / for the sesaon the championship next season that will serve him well in his development.

Agree3 Disagree1

26 Aug 2015 13:50:08
Harry Wilson has gone to Crewe on loan. Good move in my opinion although they have struggled over the past season or so they have struggled through trying to play as a bigger team would rather than like most lower league clubs and just hoofing the ball and players up in the air

Sad to hear that waro, I was just thinking the last few days was the best banter on here for a while. We don't all see eye to eye, but that's the beauty of this site. We all want the same thing at the end of the day. I'll be looking out for your posts.

Agree4 Disagree1

26 Aug 2015 16:53:31
As someone once said 'we don't have freedom of speech so that we can talk about the weather'. I find the site addictive in part because of the various opinions expressed. Take a day off and get back on here.

Agree4 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 17:24:35

Agree3 Disagree6

26 Aug 2015 17:58:44
I don't always agree with what you say Waro but its a shame as you're obviously passionate about the team. Everyone has their own views and if they didn't this would still just be a rumour site with no banter page. To a lot of us football is like a religion, also our one release, whether playing watching or talking about it. And differing opinions is what makes it so addictive. We all like to think we're right and know what we're talking about but i like the completely opposite views to mine just as much as the agreeing ones and to be fair, some of the opposite views and info has improved my football knowledge and view of the game itself.

So Waro , we haven't always agreed but shame to see you go. Hope you're back soon.

Agree4 Disagree2

26 Aug 2015 18:05:25
Shame that Waro. have to say I love your posts. Rarely agree with everything you say but it's obviously from the heart. Your posts are a bit like someone chucking a grenade into a room full of people, but I love reading the replies. You make the site a lot more interesting lad. Hope you keep posting.

While I'm at it, glad to see you posting again Malak. You talk more sense than most.

Furthermore to claim we was awful all game and didn't play well?? We rattled the bar twice and they needed 2 world class saves . You need an optician. Lad . And a good shake . We tired second half . Wake up man no one is celebrating a draw . 4 months ago we lost heavy there and heavier at Stoke . Stick your pad back in

Lol no 5ive but I'll remember you when we finish with no trophies, at the end of the season happy we are improving bit by bit but still not achieving anything.
Once again if you bothered to read instead of being illiterate you would have noticed I said I got fed up of people calling clyne motm when he put in an ok performance but still couldn't stop Sanchez. I explained ALL this in the previous post,yet you seem unable to wrap your head around what was written.
''we tired second half'' OMFG it gets worse,our team can only last 45 minutes on the field of play.
I'm sorry but given what was written a fair few were on here celebrating the draw as I said bb in his podcast was desperately trying to get ed to say it was a good result and put a positive on it,which just couldn't be done.

I can't wait for my end of season apology from you when we finish without a trophy 20+ points off the top spot having blown £300million. but you were happy with a draw at Arsenal so that's ok

Bob is right to an extent. We played very well in the first half but made a huge mistake by letting. Them come on to us in the second half and that almost cost us. The tiredness excuse is pathetic and unfounded and Bob is right on all the above points I made. However, Clyne kept Alexis quite bar the one chance he had and he was always coming in centrally from the wing which proves that he found Clyne hard to deal with. All in all, it was a satisfactory result but nothing to celebrate at all because Arsenal was there for the taking and with more precision in front of goal, we should have won but it was important not to lose, for sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Sanchez came inside a lot because that is what he does, which is why he picks up so many goals. It was nothing to do with struggling against Clyne.}

27 Aug 2015 06:16:49
Good,point Ed! I did not recognize that part of his game.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - have a watch, whether playing right or left he likes to drift inside. It caused Clyne a lot of issues, he kept getting dragged out of position following him and leaving that side open, hence why they mostly attacked down that side.}

27 Aug 2015 17:30:54
You're right Ed because Monreal, Ozil and Carzola kept causing the overload and was getting free to play dangerous balls in.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is a worry that will need to be looked at. Either by Clyne not marking his man and following him across, which then leaves him possibly free in the middle, or by somebody looking to cover from midfield. Hopefully that will come naturally in time, though I was worried that Milner, as the free man in midfield and having a lot of experience, never saw the situation as it developed and came across to help out.}

26 Aug 2015 12:21:34

Good point WBD! Ed001, I would love to know ;-)

Also, the podcasts were a great intimate insight into happenings which you could not find in any tabloid.
In reference to P3 I recall you said that Milner in his central position lacks awareness. Funny, that during the Arsenal game he got the ball taken from him a few times for this point alone. Premature I know and Milner should be given every opportunity, but this could be a decision BR needs to make. I'm not sure how he would feel personally about reoperating his trade on the flanks. Benny Baller, is that South Western accent?

Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am never going to tell anyone as he specifically said it was not to be shared. It was a lot of private stuff we talked about. Most of it was more the stuff for the tabloids anyway, not really for here.

I think Milner would be better at least drifting out there when we have the ball, he is far too good a crosser of the ball to waste that.}

26 Aug 2015 09:56:13
I don't know about you lads, but for me it's against teams like Stoke and Bournemouth where I believe we should be picking up maximum points. Then get what we can from the big boys, especially when playing away. So for me, 7 points out of 9 is a good start.

I do however think we could be performing much better with the players we have. We're not getting the best out of Benteke because we don't play with runners who can get in behind and get the balls into the danger area. Likewise, Coutinho also needs runners ahead of him to do what he does best, which is feeding balls through for them to run onto. Hence why we seem to run out of ideas in the final third. We just need that one player that can stretch the opposition and give us a bit more going forward.

As for the midfield, I still think we need a genuine holding midfielder in there to allow the likes of Hendo and Milner the freedom to get forward. I don't have a problem with Lucas playing that role for the season. With him in there we always have a good chance, but going into the season with only one holding player is very risky in my opinion, especially with his injury record.

26 Aug 2015 09:38:00
So it looks by absolute miracle Brendan Rodgers is starting to listen and take advice from others. Set pieces are the clearest sign of this, we look a lot more in control and seem to be dealing with balls in better in a more organised way and I believe that is down to O'Driscoll. If Achtenberg went (as I do not rate him in the slightest) maybe we could find a goalkeeping coach that could work on Mignolets catching of a ball as he seems to panic and flap at things. The other thing is the line, bar from Martin (out of position) Skrtel we seem to be holding a very tight line, the issue is Skrtel will never change and doesn't have the concentration or communication necessary to do simple things, like hold a line. I can slowly see (if O'Driscoll has his way) him being phased out the team and i'm hopeful Ilori can step up or Joe Gomez can move into that position. A back four of Clyne, Ilori, Sakho & Gomez would be my future pick if I had my way. The other minor thing is the dangerous playing from the back has seemed toned down which means i'm not having a heart attack every 5 seconds, its good to see Rodgers accepting his faults and allowing input into his failings, in that respect its been a very positive start for us albeit having a stroke of luck with the last couple of games. Based on the Arsenal game you can see we are clearly improving though, Lucas is a must as he is the insurance policy which allowed Can and Milner to push on and gives the defence that cover where as Hendo and Milner are both wanting to do similar things. Anyway, football wise a so so start but its important to pick up the points early on so its hard for me not to be relatively happy.

There comes a problem when you include Lucas in the team. One of Milner/Henderson/Can goes to the bench and I don't see that happening next Saturday.

BR has no clue on balancing the squad rather picks the players who he think are good enough.

Lucas is just another name, Its all about right players. A DM is a mandatory unless you have an Alonso with you.

BR see one of Milner/Henderson/Can as the playmaker which they are not.

Perhaps he was always listening but the advice he was getting was rubbish.
Perhaps in changing his assistant/coaches he has actually done the right thing?
Perhaps he is a good manager after all?

Agree4 Disagree9

26 Aug 2015 11:01:03
How do we know the improved defensive work (albeit 3 games) is down to O'Driscoll? How much do you actually know about his defensive coaching methods? It seems, the bad is down to Rodgers, the good is down to somebody else. Why don't we collectively congratulate the coaching team on improving a much needed area?

The 2nd point is about 'playing from the back'. The whole reason this can happen now is because we have Benteke. It's that simple. Last season when Sterling was scooting around all over the place, a long, direct ball wasn't useful. Now we have Benteke, our defence can ping a ball and it can stick or we can at least maintain possession and work our way up the pitch. The dynamic of our game can change because of a personnel change.

The 3rd point is Gomes at left back. He's done great, but I see him as a future CB. Think he will be excellent there.

I agree here that he threw them under the bus, , however I would argue it shows a ruthless side of him an that can only be applauded hopefully it turns out to be a new side of him. In any field of employment the ruthless succeed. I'd like to see him limit some of his press loving though he sounds like something off a 3rd rate motivational show. However I'm happy with the new backroom team. Let's see hopefully we've turned a corner. Regarding celebrating a draw I can see both sides I think the best way to look at this is from the celebration side people were happy not to get turned over therefore being blinded by what was in the 1st half a wasteful performance. And from the other side I guess the old an bold were maybe disappointed with having to only be content with the pragmatic approach of the team instead of a more ruthless cutting edge that we should have seen keys face it we should be a little disappointed in hindsight, we really should have won the game. I do think it bodes well the result at the Emirates. Our problem now is weer should hammer the irons on Saturday let's see how weer follow this up.

Top managers need to be ruthless, throwing them under the bus might be the case, but to me its clearly the right decision. To me that's a sign of a leader doing what he think will make things better, there was clearly a need for something to change and a change was done. For all i care, BR can loose all his friends if that makes the coaching staff more professional and give results on the pitch, weird thing to critizise him for imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 06:25:18
Ron and Stoupid are posting rubbish. Waro and Wembley are right. BR may have been kept by Michael Gordon who had the final say but to say that the advice he was getting was rubbish or using the word leader and BR in the same statement, is nothing short of talking utter tripe. BR is not a leader and we have facts to prove that as he spent all last season blaming everybody but himself for our issues. If that is the sign of a leader to you then you need to google the true meaning of the word because a true leader would take responsibility for his actions and admit he has been wrong. He is listening now because he is on his last legs as LFC manager and Ron, saying he was getting bad advice is just insane nonsense because he has had Pascoe for years as an assistant and never had a prob with him then but because his job was on the line, he is certainly getting bad advice now from the same guys? Your hypocrisy is deafening.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - one of the things I would like to address in the next podcast is this. I agree with you about taking responsibility, but I disagree that he was only listening because he was on his last legs. Rodgers is very much a person who listens to other people, copies others' ideas and tries to mould them to suit his purpose. Everything he has done has been someone else's idea he has taken, from his pass pass pass obsession to the fast flowing high press, it all came from other people, so he clearly does listen to people and take advice.}

27 Aug 2015 17:35:34
So Ed if that's the case, what advice was he getting and why did he not simply go back to the advice Bielsa gave him on playing the diamond, high press strategy? I saw he did that a few games but why did he abandon it?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I can only think that he doesn't believe he has the players for that system any more and that the reason we fell at the final hurdle was because it took too much out of the squad.}

Eds,
I think Benteke has been very good and he wins almost every header he goes for but my query is why we aren't getting wingers/ fullbacks or anyone else to the bylines to whip crosses into the big man to slam into the net?

We buy a big target man but don't get crosses in to him, seems like a really poor use of one of his great talents.
Any ideas why?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not a clue, but it was one of the big worries about us buying him, as last season we crossed the ball the fewest amount of times in the Prem. That is why I would like to see Milner operate more to the left than right, so he can cross the ball rather than Gomez, as he is much better at that, while Clyne is a decent crosser of the ball from the right.}

26 Aug 2015 10:36:46
What about Firmino and Sturridge ed? Would you play Coutinho centrally? Someone will have to miss out i think. Or what do you think is the best way?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I think Couts seems to be very effective cutting in from the left side, but we need someone to then look to use the space left to get into crossing positions and deliver. He is also effective central, so I would choose on a game by game basis, depending on the opposition's weaknesses. If Milner is in the team, I would look to him to make runs out left when Couts cuts in, if Moreno is playing, I would want him overlapping.}

26 Aug 2015 10:41:46
Well we don't have wingers like Navas to run at Byline. All we have players who cut inside and wants to play centrally. Markovic should be a decent shout but unfirtunately he is below Lallana who in million years wouldn't cut on the flanks.
Ibe has been poor which leaves us with none other than to push lallana/Countinho out wide.
Milner don't want to play out wide.

We bought too many midfielders and CAM and never looked at the clear picture at all.

Hello Eds.
i wanted to ask that nothing much is happening in the transfer market at least on the EPL front. majority of clubs have acted as early as june/july and got their signings done. do you think this is going to be a trend from now on?? is it something clubs are now actively looking to do that is to conclude business as early as possible?
lastly do you expect any surprise last minute signings this time around i mean in general and not just LFC? its largely quite this time around.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There are a number of clubs still looking to make a number of signings or reach agreements for players that you would probably consider "major". Many of the usual suspects are still shopping for players and you can certainly expect more from a number of clubs with Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Wolfsburg, Arsenal, Manchester City, AC Milan, Manchester United, Juventus, Chelsea and PSG all in the midst of working on transfers that may or may not come off.}

Hi eds wow just listened to latest podcast excellent work but had a few questions if you may. Ed 02 mentioned a few times that the owners were given advice and one particular candidate fow rogers job was put forward to which the owners decided against. Can I just ask if that particular manager would still be an option if the opportunity came up or has that ship sailed. Ed01 how surprised are you that after the review that not only did the owners not sack Brenda but also showed such faith in him that they went completely with his recommendations with the staff and also backed Him so heavily in the market again. Is the transfer comitee still in place and if not who's calling the shots. I think most fans are happy with this years signings after initial sceptisism. Good to see the new staff are taking effect particularly with the promotion of Gomez and rossitor. This would not have happened last year. The members of our squad I am worried for are I illori teixeira markovic I would love all 3 to stay with us this season but for them to get games we would need to move on plenty. Thoughts please
