Liverpool and Newcastle will find out in the next few days who has won the race to sign Marseille winger Hatem Ben Arfa.

The 23-year-old has gone on strike at his French club in an effort to force through a move.

the reason torres did not play tonight is not because he is not match fit.the only way to get match fit is to play matches, the real reason is because he had a massive bust up with hodgson with the way the club is going.he feels he has been lied to regarding the big name signings he was told was going to happen and the takeover being near to completion.all he sees is mediocre free signings or cheap deals for players way past their best.konchesky being the final straw.he would move tomorrow if possible but realises he will now have to wait until january at the earliest.gerrard has also informed his agent to put the feelers out to see if anybody would be intrested in signing him.he has basically had enough and feels he can do no more and that he deserves the chance to try something new before he hangs up his boots.the truth is there will be no takeover for quite a while yet as any potential buyer is waiting until the planks can no longer re structure the loan and finally default on their payments.this is one of the reasons the club is being asset stripped right in front of our eyes.we face a very uncertain future for quite a while yet and the best we can hope for is a mid table finish this season, we better get used to teams putting 2 or 3 goals past us this season because this has got to be the worst group of players we have had since the dark days of souness.i cannt believe the above its so negative i'm getting pis*ed off with all the crap that's in the media and on forums anyone reading the above would think the club was on par with villa . .ok things are not all hunky dory
but for goodness sake lets get behind the lads

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has described Inter Milan's bid for midfielder Javier Mascherano as 'tongue-in-cheek', and insists it was promptly rejected. Both approaches for Mascherano are understood to be nowhere near Liverpool's asking price, which is thought to be around £25million.
Roy Hodgson said "I saw a fax the other day but I think it was sent tongue-in-cheek to be honest, " he revealed after Liverpool's Europa League play-off victory over Trabzonspor.
"The offer was so unbelievably far from a valuation it seemed to me the sporting director was putting the fax in to maybe satisfy people at the club. "We didn't even bother to answer it, that is how ridiculously far from a serious offer it was."

Now i may be mistaken here, but usually when LFC have a press conference, the Anfield tour does not happen at the same time, but if you go to the LFC website you will see that the tour is available all day.

Is this an indication that there will be no major annoncements tommorrow?

I think if we can sign a striker or attacking player and left back we will the have a group of players that want to play for LFC. RH will then have time to work with the team and build a strong unit. He will also integrate a number of younger players for experience. RH is currently doing a great job considering dealing with all the games, transfers, speculation etc. The current ownership is leaving a a black cloud over the club so once that is resolved we can move forward as a club and everyone fans, players etc will feel more positive. Tonights win showed a lot of guts. On Sunday lets roar the lads and beat West Brom. The media say we are 4th from bottom I say we are 3 points off 2nd place. Come on you reds

It was good to get a win tonight. It was psychologoically important that the squad know they can win away from home without Torres and Gerrard to hold their hand and without Mascherano. It was also important to get a win before the WBA game. But lets not get carried away. This was a team in a mediocre league. We should not have been in the position of only being a goal up from the home leg and struggling for large periods of this leg. We are not out of the woods yet. Between now and November we need to beat Everton and Spurs and take at least a point off United & Chelsea as well as winning most of our other matches if we are to get that fourth spot.

There were comments over the last couple of days about moving Johnson to right-mid and I said that the hierarchy were seriously considering that towards the end of last season because he was the best crosser of the ball in the squad. Tonight laid further support to that theory - that he is a better right-mid player than he is a right-back. He also played well against the Arsenal where he was more a wing back than an out and out defender.

I didn't know about DNA tests before - but mum explained it's when they do a swab in your mouth and it tells you if you're the dad.

"So, if I have that, they can all shut up. But I don't really care what people say."

This sums up Liverpool's problems in a nutshell. We need a DNA test to prove that Gillet and Hicks are not the father's of the club and the test was explained by LFC'S mum. When it is proven everyone can shutup and we can get on with the football.

I as a LFC lifer find in incredible that there is so much dismay surrounding the club and its supporters on all forums at present! I like many am a daily visitor to the majority of media outlets such as this one seeking/ searching for tangible news regarding the takeover or a fresh signing. It has however now got to the stage where the vast majority of the posts on all the media outlets except the official LFC website are clearly based on fantasy.
Unforutnately no one is prepared to remain relaxed about the future, it will take care of itself in due course. I would not have been a big fan or Roy and I remain suspicious over his appointment ahead of King Kenny however I am prepared to give him time to settle in unlike so many at this time. WTF there have only been 2 EPL games so far where a large proportion of our players are no where near fully fit following the world cup. At least give him a chance to implement his ideas! He has a very diffierent approach to Rafa and IMO is to be welcomed. I long for the days when LFC attack from start to finish and this will take time to implement. The squad needs investment but if it is not available we will have to make do. . FFS lets get Roy and the players and see where it takes us and let the clubs executive ensure the family silver is tarnsferred to someone who at least has the means to polish it. . .

why i really belive were goin the same way as LEEDS

This is my first message after months of reading this site day in day out. There is a reason why Gerrard and Torres have not been used in any of the Europa league games. Think about it. . .Exactly, it won't be long before they're off and won't be cup tied for champions league clubs !

Torres played against Trabzonspor in the first leg. Gerrard scored a penalty against Rabotnicki. You are not an LFC fan.

26 Aug 2010 22:07:51

Seriously, roy has known the problem area from the start, up front, if torres is injured, what we got in the way of a striker you could put a bet on scoring, nothing, sort it out, our season is over without another striker, 4, 1/ 2 days and counting roy

26 Aug 2010 22:03:32
Listen people, this is just my opinion. . what ever happens from here till the end of the window its not gonna make much difference. . we always seem to miss out on the talent.

look at Adam Johnson , cost those greedy s. .ts 5.5m. and look at the damage he done to us Monday night. . sum1 we cld have seriously done with. but we never get them. i think its time to ditch players and start again. i love Kuyt for his efforts but he doesn't offer nothing anymore. 15 mil wld be great business.

now or later theses players should leave, Ngog, Kuyt, Lucus, Mascherano, Rodriquez, poulsen, babel, kyrgiakos. . .

then lets look to build on this now or next season if we can with the following. . if we got the money. we need wingers 100%, we need a good solid centre bk for when Carragher starts slowing down more, a solid quick left bk. a solid midfielder to partner Gerrard, and atleast to more good strikers. . i would like to see the following.

G Cahill - Bolton ( Carraghers replacement)
T Taiwo - LB
A Young - Villa - LW/ RW
E Hazard - Lille - LW/ RW 2 of the 3 wingers
E Elia - Hamburg - LW/ RW
L Diarra - Madrid - CDM
S Defour - Liege - CM-CDM
A Carroll - Newcasle - CF/ ST
E Dzeko - Wolfsburg - CF/ ST

Think sum if not all cld make a difference at the club we all love and want to see bk where we belong. .

Now one more note. . if Inter wanted Mach & kuyt so much for atleast 35-40m for both then y not ask for Sniejder in exchange. . i would take it straight away. . just a thought. .

What do u think to my ideas Ed. . please post this. . {editor's note - we don't need to tear it up and start again, just make gradual changes. It is time Roy needs more than anything.}

Was watching the match this evening and I was very pleased with the performance from a number of the squad players. . A gritty determined performance in a hostile ground having found ourselves a goal down early on deserves a pat on the back and that exactly where the initial difference between Hodgson and Rafa begins. I really enjoyed the way Roy broke out a smile when we scored our first, he had that I love it when a plan comes together look about him. . Classic ! !

This has been said many times before, but I will say it again. Can people who tell us they are "in the Know" but clearly have not got a clue, please stop posting rumours that have no truth, no supporting evidence and no chance of happening. This is supposed to be a site for true fans of LFC. I have a very close friend who is a scout for the club and he does not know who is coming in. Now either he is telling me the truth and like many others within the club, he has not been informed about who is coming or leaving. Or he has been told not to let any news leak out.

Next time anyone thinks about posting a rumour, think how well informed you really are. I am sure we will be fine as long as we stick together and show the kind of support only we can.

I was so peed -off on monday night after the result and the way we just gave in, good result tonight, we should have beat them 4-1 at home, i went 2 the arsenal game, we played well and had 9 men far a good 15/ 20 min, man u lost 3-0 to fulham last season and chelsea lost at home 2-4 to man c, so it happens, look at newcastle who beat man u 5-1 a couple of seasons ago, and they don't have players like lukas, n gog, in their side, i think it will be a good season 4 us,

Don't talk rubbish, Roy has not played them because he simply does not want to risk his best players, also his most injury prone players on matches that we can manage without, which was proven again tonight!

Why do people read doom and gloom into every little incident

Please oh please, stop putting the team down and maybe start supporting them. Granted no top class signings yet and maybe there won't be any this transfer window but we are still Liverpool fc. Roy needs time, after all we are meant to the supporters that gives our manager the most support, so what's changed? Rafa started slowly in the league in his first year, but won UCL. The take over will happen soon and maybe we will have owners who will be be able to support the club in the right way. No loans, no broken promises and most importantly liverpool Fc run well, and within it's means. If Torres Or Gerrard decide to leave then I wish them luck, but we all know where ever they go, nowhere will compare to our great club.

I think roy is a good manager but i think the liverpool job is to big for him.We need to be challenging for the champions league places not europa. Also after watching monday's game we need two wingers with pace if roy wants to play 4, 4, 2 and another quality striker?.i will give roy until christmas if not in top8 may be sacked

26 Aug 2010 21:09:26
Oh my god, listen to you all slagging the reds off, "Where going out", "Wors't team i've ever seen", "Roy'll be gone by Xmas". . .Shut the F*uck up and get on with supporting, not slagging off our team, if you don't like it don't support them. I have supported Liverpool for over 40 years and this is the hardest times i've ever seen, but it will get better, Roy is a great manager, but he needs time, he's buying players he can afford and in his opinion can do a job for us. We might not win anything this season, and I can hear you all, "Oh Torres and Gerrard will leave". . .If they want to go, let them only players who want to play for Liverpool should be here anyway, although I do believe Torres and Gerrard love the club and want to stay. Look on the bright side, remember when the Mancs went through a bad patch, they went down, we wont.

Come on you REDS, YNWA. .

Some times no matter what you do it just isn't good enough. Some people on here need to give themselves a good shake.

We had more or less our 2nd team out tonight 4500 miles from home in treacherous conditions against a team who were unbeating in 13 games at home in all competitions. They also beat Fernabache 3-2 on Monday night so all in all a good result especially considering all the speculation surrounding the club at the minute Kuyt, Masch and Takeover etc.

Keep the faith this is when we need it most!

Why is mascherano being sold for less than 25 million? ask me this question, is mascherano a better player than james milner? off course he is! 10 times better than him, and he was sold to man city for 26million. i know that inter or barca probably won't pay that much money for him, but he is a better player than milner so he should be sold for about 30million. liverpool made mascherano the player he is today, no one new him in argentina and could hardly get a game at west ham, what did we do? highly recognised around the world, argentina captain and is the best player at his position! !

Sorry Milner is better he can get u goals cross better better skill the only thing masch is better at is defending

To the complete person that posted that crap below. Get a grip son! It's early doors, and even though it hurt to watch City beat us well the other night, I don't think that all the doom and gloom your going on about is justified. You know nothing about Torres's state of mind, and your not a true fan if your willing to throw the towel in after two games. Get behind your tem and support them in the bad times and stop talking out of your ring peice!

To the WORRYING TIMES post:-

I am a pessimist at times, but that has to be the worst most ridiculous post this site has seen. You must have breakfast with Stevie G and Nando to have that much info on what they are thinking ( you don't do you? ).
And that bunch of players you quote has just got a very very good result in Turkey, one no other English team has managed, not forgetting 4 Euro wins in his first 4 games.

Oh me of little faith - after my earlier post, I will not make the mistake again, currently scoffing some humble pie - so poor in the first 20 minutes, then a thoroughly professional performance, not great by any stretch of imagination - but what a result - well done Roy and the lads and Danny deserves more time on the pitch - luvli 2nd goal - Babel, Pacheco and tap in for Kuyt.

I don't know what anyone else thinks but that is so defeatist I'd almost think it was a Man U fan having a laugh. For a start the club isn't being asset stripped- they fought tooth and nail NOT to let the big assets go if you remember, and succeeded. Masch isn't being stripped either-he's forced his way out. What exactly is being 'stripped'?
I honestly don't get you mate. Yes the squad is being padded out with players that LFC might not normally go for, and we are going to struggle against top quality sides to judge from Monday- but that was about as bad as it will get (with a last minute change of formation and the players wondering about where Masch was and why- it does affect a team, as Everton showed with Lescott to MCFC). We will play better- Roy needs more time to get the tactics settled, and he will. The we can decide if its the right approach, maybe.
And better quality players will come when the takover is completed, as it will be by Oct latest. I think its a load of bull about Torres- of course RH is resting him, and if he had a bust up it would be with Purslow, who persuaded him to stay, not RH- and RHs reasons for resting him are totally valid and sound much more credible than your mad defeatist speculation. I mean at least be realistic, even if you are pessimistic. We're all worried, and these are lean times, and it will be a hard run to January, but better times are coming- and maybe even in time to rescue a top four this season.

26 Aug 2010 20:50:25

If Masch wants to go that badly, why doesn't he half his wages and therefore make more money available to buy him, thjat should raise at least 10mill, or doesn't he want to move that bad.

what a d*ck! Hodgeson clearly does't want Torres to be out injured at all this season, if you knew anything about injury management, you'd know that when your tired your more subceptable to injuries, therefore until Torres is fully fit he will be more subceptable to injury, so resting him when ever he gets the chance is good management, unlike previously when Torres was played far too early and far too often, the world cup is the perfect example of this, played most games even though clearly not fit! ! ! Don't write cr*p when you know nothing! !

To one and all. . . You must remember that the 'Inter President - Massimo Morrati' openly stated within a week of Rafa's Signing/ arrival at Inter that they were going to bid for Mash' towards the end of the transfer window and were maybe even going to leave it 'till the last day of it as they knew it would cost them alot less and could sign him on the cheap. The way things are going, even though Barca' are in the hunt, this is going to happen so i must vent my anger that we haven't managed to sign anyone to support and cover Torres up front that would cost around £10 plus even though we know we are going to recoup that kinda money on Mash. We are being run by a couple of idiots are the moment and the sooner we sell up the better. WELL DONE LFC tonight on a difficult pitch and well done to WOY for the result and his overall efforts so far. Village

Gosh. I wonder why u Liverpool fans is ranting when you have not even watch the game end.
We won 1-3 and we played much better in the 2nd half.
Pacheco made an impressive 15 mins cameo again and he did make the opposition look a little foolish with his skills. Hope this boy get more playing time soon.
Whatever the day ahead going to be. Lets just put our hands and heart and soul with this Team. Like it or not. It Liverpool. And it LFC in our blood.
So stop ranting, be a little more optimistic.
H&G is an S. and they will be forever an S. And may God give them watever they want so that they can F off.
Hope the future is bright, can see the fighting spirit is back. And if it doesnt, let be tight like we all use to be and support those players who fight themselve out on the field.

GO LFC. You will not walk alone.

Not ideal I know but it might suit our current limited squad.
Johno could do a great job RWB & Aurelio LWB i.e. without TOO much defensive responsibility.
Also we could play 2 "water carriers" in midfield (Lucas & Poulsen) plus Stevie AND have 2 strikers up top.
P.S. Ed please filter out the moaners for God's sake!
Yes we are in the mire get over it & cheer them on!

Great result

but doesn't hide the aweful display, frustrates me to see players/ so called pro's unable to control, pass or move.

lovely technique to the Pacheco strike which resulted in Kuyt's goal.

No shelvey? pissed me right off. How and when will these talented youngsters get involved. Lucas has something that 90% of us can't see.
Why is he playing every game? I'll admit at times he shows promise but he can be a liability.
Poohlsen was aweful tonight.

I'm not Babels greatest fan but can he offer more than Ngog?

26 Aug 2010 20:25:08
Very impressed with Pacheco when he came on. Finally someone on the pitch who has a first touch and wants to attack his opponent. Must be given more opportunities.

Just wondering does anyone still beleive lucas and ngog are good enough for Liverpool. I was hoping hodgson was gonna get rid of at least one of them, I'd also snap inters hand of for a 15 million bid for kuyt. Good squad player but he is not what I want as a winger for starting 11. I hope it's just a case of Roy has no money so has gaf to stick with them and not that he actually rates them or I fear he may end up the same as Rafa.

I live in south africa and none of our sports channels( supersport 1 up till 7 and espn) are covering the liverpool game. Judging by what im reading and the fact that we are already 1-0 down kind of makes me happy im not watching, as much as i hate saying it it is true. Ed can u please post the team sheet for me? Pretty please! Or anyone for that matter.

Liverpool: Reina, Kelly, Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Johnson, Aurelio, Lucas, Poulsen, Kuyt, Cole, Ngog. Subs: Gulacsi, Pacheco, Babel, Spearing, Shelvey, Skrtel, Eccleston

Aurelio is on the wing, but now was subbed for Pacheco

WORRYING TIMES
the reason torres did not play tonight is not because he is not match fit.the only way to get match fit is to play matches, the real reason is because he had a massive bust up with hodgson with the way the club is going.he feels he has been lied to regarding the big name signings he was told was going to happen and the takeover being near to completion.all he sees is mediocre free signings or cheap deals for players way past their best.konchesky being the final straw.he would move tomorrow if possible but realises he will now have to wait until january at the earliest.gerrard has also informed his agent to put the feelers out to see if anybody would be intrested in signing him.he has basically had enough and feels he can do no more and that he deserves the chance to try something new before he hangs up his boots.the truth is there will be no takeover for quite a while yet as any potential buyer is waiting until the planks can no longer re structure the loan and finally default on their payments.this is one of the reasons the club is being asset stripped right in front of our eyes.we face a very uncertain future for quite a while yet and the best we can hope for is a mid table finish this season, we better get used to teams putting 2 or 3 goals past us this season because this has got to be the worst group of players we have had since the dark days of souness.

Like i keep saying everday there's another sign. we are being asset stripped right now. the only reason they never sold torres is because of his f**t WC and injury otherwise he'd have been sold too and replaced by another th**r signing. . but purslow didn't get what he was asking for when punting him and gerrard to Real earlier. next season with johnson there be off. . plus a very good bid for Aqua (as unfortuantly it will only be this year after his loan your'll all see what a good player he is) the masch money will be used to extend the H&G deal till next summer. . and that's all the good version as this would mean that H&G are still in control. .

If you open your eyes its and stop believing al this sugar daddy hype its happening right before your eyes. Masch out, poulson in. . aqua out free j cole in. . insua out p*tter cheaper player in. . youth team all put up for sale with a few already gone.

The bad version. the club has already been reclaimed by the bank and is being asset stripped. common sense why this has not been made public as it would of had a very severe inpact on season ticket sales, merchandising etc etc. . To those that would say you would of heard something. . .
This is worth millions to them plus then the public backlash, future gate reciepts, further merchandising etc etc!
This is why a Skint H & G payed 6mil to get rid of a manager. get real. . he left as he knew what was happening and given 6mil to shut his mouth. .

wish neither of these were true. but unfortunantly the signs are everywhere.

26 Aug 2010 19:42:19
We (liverpool) are absolutly poor players like ngog lucas poulsen kuyt need i go on DARK DAYS ahead! !

26 Aug 2010 19:37:47
If we get knocked out tonight watch gerrard, and torres go before the transfer window closes, not that they helped us get through but they will have there excuses all lined up. ynwa magsman.

Toivenen
konchesky
diarra
c.cole
ruiz

Flipping joke can't believe how low our club has sunk to even consider these.add these to lucas, kuyt, ngog, poulson, insua and aurellio and we wouldn't even finish in the top 4 of the championship.dark times ahead i'm afraid.we can't even arrange a takeover without it being turned into a soap opera.

26 Aug 2010 19:33:13
We should have never got rid of riise crouch n bellamy lpool r terribly poor in the market we sell players we should keep n we buy alot of flops best player we brought in is torres n masch and the worst signin we made is them dirty no nothin about football yonks

26 Aug 2010 19:32:32
Kuyt in the 1st half for me looks as if he dosn't want to play for us. He's not giving 100% like he always does IMO. You could probably say that about the rest of them but Kuyt no matter what the score always gives 100% but is head is somewhere else (Inter) Roy should take the what they are offering.

Martin Kelly will be at LFC for a long, long time he's a fantastic player.

26 Aug 2010 19:29:37
Urghhhhhh blahhhhhhhhhh huummpfffff errrrrrrr!

That's how I feel. Right now!

How can we possibly be playing so awful. We look a million miles away from being a mediocre mid-table team, let alone a top 4 team.

Please remember football is about scoring goals. .you need to attack. .or at least make the attempt to go forward!

there is no way we should lose to the Turks over 2 legs. .it is NOT good if we go out. Concentrating on the league. .wotta load of cobblers. . Liverpool should be in the mix to win every competition they enter. .I'm so disappointed right now.We can't even play attractive football regardless of winning or not. .just to play well would be a start!

26 Aug 2010 19:24:03
Is it me or is David ngog crap I just can't c what he brings to the team can't hold the ball up put the midfield under pressure that is why we should never got rid of crouch but then again rafa got rid of him maybe because he was getting more headlines than rafa. things are not great at min but trust me would have been alot more tougher if rafa was still there post this ed would like to hear what people think?

26 Aug 2010 19:23:31

Unless Hodgson is a total hypocrite, we will not sign anyone from FULHAM, so quit with the rumours we will .

He is has had a go at RAFA regarding a signed agreement not to sign Liverpool players, has he not got the same agreement in place regarding signing FULHAM players

Hi All
Im posting here about the ongoing takeover and i've found a website that could really help. Please everyone go to www.liverpooltakeover.webs.com
its about a fans takeover.Tell all liverpool fans about it please.Lets take our club over.
Again i repeat go to :www.liverpooltakeover.webs.com

{Editor's Note: I could type pages on this nonsense of course, but I am not going to. Whilst appreciate that you have no doubt whipped yourself into a frenzy (so to speak) after finding this web site, I should also point out that making multiple identicale posts gets the Editor's miffed and could easily result in either a yellow or red card being issued.}

Just watched the first half hour of the game - Roy will be gone by Christmas - even he won't put up with a performance like that - if you can get it, on this display 15 is about right for Kuyt - 15 quid I'm talking about, in 50 years of being a Kopite - the worst bit of business LFC have done is selling Arbeloa for 3 million and paying 13 million more for Johnston. If any prospective purchaser is watching this - no pelican will us.
The manager has obviously given up on Europe and wants to concentrate on the Premier League.

Liverbird

{Editor's Note: That is three out and seven in. No impact on squad restrictions, wages etc?}

Mascherano = 70 k a week
Soto = 50 k a week
Insua = 60 k a week

Trezeguet 30 k a week due to Juve paying the majority
Diarra 50k a week

Steven Taylor 40 k a week-stick to what he earns at Newcastle.

To editor
The informal BID from Huang happened before AUG with his backers being known to Broughton before AUG. He believed his BID was discussed in the board with H&G known about his BID & Backer. Believing that this bid is "Genuine", Gillet get ppls to check Huang out to discredit. Days later news break out in ITK Rawk Forum, CIC was leaked to be backers and CIC pulled out. IF Huang's bid is not genuine, why some english media still wrote about him even when he said he is not involved anymore? Whether who leaked CIC involvement is debatable but what i do know the report in chinese interview is very different from what is reported in the english media.

{Editor's Note: OK so the ITK Rawk Forum is your source. As I said before, Huang wa s never a serious bidder; he had funding but not from CIC and not enough to but the club. I am of the opinion that he did indeed have the money to buy the RBS debt and he somehow felt if he could get that ownership of that debt, he could then call it in and possibly force the owners out. They were aware of this and did at some point speak to BarCap about refinancing the debt to remove RBS from the picture entirely. The Chinese and British media differ considerably as you well know. The Chinese are generally on the good news side and the British press really only cares if it turns out that really was a nun he was caught with in the back of his car. We are clearly never going to agree over Huang: did the superstars from RAWK ever re-appear?}

Super pool super reds i have been a lfc fan for 20 years an never seen anything like whot is going on at are club. palyers not wanting to play for the club whot a joke! ! roy comes in to the hot seat great news stops the rot of whot would have been are only top players going. now has no cash to take are team on an move forward he has to do whot he can to make the best of whot raffa has left ha ha h lucus! ! owners an board a joke like a pack of kids are club should be better than this we are liverpoolfc an with hope in are harts we all know that this has to stop! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !hope mas goes hope roy the man gets half the dosh raffa got
then we will be on the move . . . new owners soon that i hope will make us strong once more like the 1970s an 80s great times. i think roy is the man to do this he needs lots of time he needs money top players coming in an us the fans to make sure he gets the chance. . . . stevey g+torro will hit top form an for me we will be in top 4 for sure COME ON THE POOL WALK ON JAY ESSEX RED WANTING GLORY BACK

Editor, to say Huang is never in the running for liverpool is incorrect. Many english media claim "Huang" say this or that or whatever "source they quote are just bulls* t or misunderstanding in a "big" time. Do a google and check for direct interview from Huang and there are only 2. Chinese interview which was misintepreted and words are played to totally discredit Huang. Huang CLAIM in chinese interview he had never made a "FORMAL" bid yet but had BID an amount to Broughton. The BID subsequently being discussed in the board. Liverpool FC is the one who announced about his BID that make it become publicity first and not him. Even before the bid is publicise, there are rumour leaked on who his backer was. At no time, Huang wanted to be publicised but he was punished, someone LEAK CIC involvement and CIC pull out(He suspect GIllet). With 1 key investor gone, Huang try to hasten the deal and everything become a big hoo-haa after.

Regarding all the Ft report about his involvement his education & cavalier are just english media playing with words and creating misunderstanding. Speaking in chinese he actually mean, i have studied in University A before but later graduate in University B. FT make a big hoo-haa said he lied that he graduate in University A when the truth is he enrolled in A but later transfer to B and graduate from there. As for cavaliar 15%, April report in chinese newspaper lready confirm he does not involved.

{Editor's Note: Huang was never a contender to buy the club. There never was backing from CIC. It is clear he had found some funding but nowhere near enough for what he was suggesting. He has publicity now - perhaps enough to get involved with buying a smaller sports team. I hope for English supporters it is not here.}

Liverpool Rumours
The huang bid did have substance despite claims on here it didnt.

kuyt is going to inter - agent has agreed terms. roy hodgon desperately wants to keep him but hands could be tied.
because the takeover hasnt happened before transfer window nando is v close to leaving. . he was promised investment which hasnt materialised.

Diarra is also definitely being worked on. . masch will only go to barca for 18 plus. not interested in player exchange. hleb may still come though but won't influence price.

i hate saying this abt nando. im his biggest fan. but this is from sources inside CAA where peter kenyon works. he is involved with the takeover through an unnamed investor.

this is the investor that will probably takeover. however i stress again kenny huang was a very serious bidder. he just wanted to have it done well before the window and pulled out from frustration.

blame the yanks and the board if nando leaves, he desperatley wanted to stay. but only if new faces were brought in.

RIDICULOUS POST. HUANG IS TOTALLY UNSUITABLE FOR LIVERPOOL - JUST LOOK AT THE RESEARCH CARRIED OUT AND PLACED ON THIS SITE ABOUT HIS 'ACTIVITIES' IN RECENT YEARS. HE OBVIOUSLY HAS NO REAL MONEY, NOT THE CONTACTS HE SUGGESTS AND GENERALLY HAS 'MADE UP' GREAT PARTS OF HIS LIFE.
THE TAKEOVER WILL HAPPEN BUT MAY TAKE SOME MONTHS AS OPPOSED TO DAYS, AND HOPEFULLY BY SOMEONE WHO LOVES BEEN CUSTODIAN OF A GREATLY ADMIRED CLUB THROUGHOUT THE WORLD AND WHAT COMES WITH THIS.
IT IS SURELY PRUDENT TO GET THE TAKEOVER RIGHT SO WE AREN'T STILL MASSIVELY LEVERAGED, WITH A NEW OWNER WILLING TO COMPETE IN THE TRANSFER MARKET. IF THEN TORRES STILL DECIDES HE WANTS TO LEAVE LIVERPOOL (MUCH I WOULD HATE THIS) HE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO GO FOR £50M+ BUT ONLY ABROAD NOT TO CHELSEA, MANCITY ETC.

I know you won't post this as you only post the rubbish you want the public too see. . (just like the real media) so this is just for you. . {editor's note - grow up mate. You are talking complete and utter crap. You sound like a writer for the S*n yourself - you seemed to have overlooked the fact that I didn't dispute that we had a deal set up for Villa as that is very common knowledge and certainly you have no need to be an ITK to know about it. What I said came from a very very good source who worked very closely with Rafa at the time. Rafa wanted Parry out, because of the deals with Barry and Villa falling through and because he overpaid for Keane and left Rafa with very little chance of getting the targets he wanted. While at the same time refusing to sanction moves for the players Rafa had targeted as priority. We all know the ones Parry made the club miss out on, Ronaldo for about 3.6m being an obvious glaring error. Rafa had enough and took on the situation head on, it worked, Parry was removed (rightly so) and Purslow was brought in instead. You can dispute what I have said all you like, but I am 100% sure on my source for this.}

Well Keane apart. . that's villa, walcott(instead of babel) bale(probably instead of Insua even though he bought him later) and this Ronaldo(must adimt never heard anything about this one) one. . Its does seem to me that if alowed these transfers Rafa would of won the league at least once. . What is it with our luck? Then there's the supposed transfers that we're cancelled after houllier was sacked a certain essien for 2 or 3 mill, Diarra about the same and Rosicky for 5.6 mil (i think) yet Diouf for 10 odd mil still had to go through as already completed from the season before. . After all the diao's and the new "zindane"'s (Chevrou) peices of carp he bought when he finally gets some decent players he's sacked and the transfer;s cancelled. . .(make me think maybe they were all great potential players somehow ruined by him) Its hard being a red. . But surly our luck can't get any worse. . unless of course you read into real Madrid new managers words about Liverpool lately when asked about managing teams in England. . . with aqua never given a chance and loaned out for a quick sale next year. . masch's replacement. . the over the hill cheap poulson. . i have a feeling the writtings on the wall for asset stripping. .

I truley hope i'm wrong. . but everyday there's something else hinting towards the worse. .

Liverpool Rumours
Liverpool to sell kuyt to inter 18mil euros (agreed)
he won't play tonight as he will be cup tied
masch to barca for hleb and cacires and 5mill euros
insua and soto to juve for which we will pay 3mill euros and get trezeguet.
toivanen to sign by sun for 14mill euros
konchesky for 3 mill
diarra for 8 mill euros
van der vaart on loan

source?
my best mate used to play for the reds and now is captain at leicester.

the take over is also up in the air with the yanks wanting more money and they have also looked at re-financing the loan.

I thought Matt Oakley was Leicester's captain, and he's certainly never played for Liverpool! And if you meant vice-captain Jack Hobbs I'd still be doubtful that he'd have much/ any inside knowledge of whats happening at Anfield, I mean, did he even get a senior game with us? He's also been gone a couple of years mate.

Well, the Royatollahs are probably not gonna like this, but I'm hoping that within two to three years of the club being taken over, the new owner/ s boot out "Woy" and bring back home Senor Benitez.
Rafa, the most pioneering football figure of the last decade, has an unfinished project at Anfield.Rafa done well to rebuild, revamp and reinvent our team and the academy. It's only fair that he also rips the rewards/ fruits of his handy work.

People can dig up the "he wasted £200m in six years" old chestnut all they like, but the man's a Kop LEGEND.Before he came this team was, to put it kindly, sn**t!
CL qualification was the bare maximum.
But, under Rafa, we became a force, a MAJOR force in Europe.
We outclassed, outmaneuvered and outplayed Europe's elite.Even in the EPL we weren't doin that bad;we didn't win the league, yes, but were we fully equipped to do so?Methinks NOT.

For long a time, this team OVERACHIEVED;the ealier success Rafa had (which to be honest very few, if no one, expected) was unfortunately to be Rafa's foe later on in his tenure.Through the man's genius and pioneering spirit, we became so good so much so that people took it for granted that we weren't that muscled financially/ resources-wise.We simply were punching above our weight, which you can only do for so long.

People are quick to point to the fact that the man signed "so many carp players", while conveniently ignoring the fact that, for the better part of his early LFC years, he had to completely overhaul, revamp, rebuild and refurbish what was frankly a relatively average squad. And the extremely limiting circumstances he had to work under did him no favours either.

So, yeah, he did make his mistakes (which he's owned up to more than once), like any other manager. But it should be borne in mind that, people who do and deal with many things will make many mistakes;those who do handful of things will make fewer mistakes, and those who do g*gg** all will certainly make no mistake. So made a lot of mistakes cause he had a lot to deal with and with little to do so.
But when I look at his legacy (Torres, Pepe, Masch, Glen, Agger, much improved Gerrard and Carra, Pacheco and the many other exciting future world-beaters, and the trophies he's won us etc), I couldn't be more in awe of the man.

My respect for him runs deeper than the Pacific.
So here's to hoping that in the not too distant future, the one of the greatest men and coaches once again steers this ship to its promised land, hopefully the voyage much more calm and endearing that time round.

Don't worry lads, I'm not 99% sure we're not getting David Trezueget or w/ e his name is. We probably will be gettin vanswinkle and Diarra and Mascherano will be off before the transfer window shuts. What do you think Ed?

{editor's note - grow up mate. . } etc etc etc

The editor is 100% correct - I know this for a fact. The deal for Villa was done and dusted but Parry screwed it by delaying - the yanks suddenly needed the money back and the deal hadn't been finalised. If Parry had moved his butt it would have been to late and the yanks wouldn't have been able to pull it, Villa would have been No7 and we wouldn't be in this mess. That is what destroyed the moral of the team right at the start of last season. For finishing runners-up the season before they had been promised significant investment by Parry and H+G. Villa had agreed to come and Rafa was planning an all out assault on the title. The team had faith in Rafa. When it went t*ts-up and the yanks withdrew the money it gutted the team and Rafa felt humiliated by the Americans and betrayed by Parry's dithering.

How many times is a certain far eastern businessman going to say he isn't going to continue in his attempt to buy our club?

If any of you were in doubt about this persons motives for becoming involved in such a 'high profile media event/ acquisition' then his prolonged attention seeking should convince you now.

LFC Rumours
INS
liverpool are going to sign R. van wolfswinkel (8m) or Shaun Wright Phillips (7m), mahamadou diarra (11m), P. Konchesky (3.5m) and a striker (max 14m).'

We are a club that is in financial turmoil, with owners unwilling to shell out for new players and you reckon that we'll purchase '43.5m' quids worth of talent?
I'm as optomistic as the next LFC fan, but this year will be a fallow one, mark my words. Our youth will grow, and we will be back next year stronger and with a deeper squad

Dear ed
just found this on wicka
Ronaldo's precocious talent caught the attention of Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson and he signed the 18-year-old for £12.24 million in 2003.
so it was infact gh who was after him, but all the same if my source is to be belived parry &&&&&& that up as well and at the time it was about 3.5 - 4 million

In response to
{editor's note - grow up mate. You are talking complete and utter carp. You sound like a writer for the S*n yourself - you seemed to have overlooked the fact that I didn't dispute that we had a deal set up for Villa as that is very common knowledge and certainly you have no need to be an ITK to know about it. What I said came from a very very good source who worked very closely with Rafa at the time. Rafa wanted Parry out, because of the deals with Barry and Villa falling through and because he overpaid for Keane and left Rafa with very little chance of getting the targets he wanted. While at the same time refusing to sanction moves for the players Rafa had targeted as priority. We all know the ones Parry made the club miss out on, Ronaldo for about 3.6m being an obvious glaring error. Rafa had enough and took on the situation head on, it worked, Parry was removed (rightly so) and Purslow was brought in instead. You can dispute what I have said all you like, but I am 100% sure on my source for this.}
Was it not GH who tried to buy ronaldo, i belive he was at man who way before rafa joined ? ?

One of the Ed's has said he doesn't believe any new players comming in due to lack of money. Where is the money Hicks or Gillette (cant remember which) said was available? Is no one else not only frsutrated but actually concerned that with no new players we have a serious problem."

{Editor's Note: Any money provided by the owners also had to cover associated costs - such as increases in wages and insurance.}
Owners are never likely to make sums available when they are selling up. Would you pump needless amounts of cash into a house you were selling? I honestly don't think RH is the type of manager who likes large scale chopping and changing, which is likely one reason he was chosen - he tends to aim to get the best out of what he has. Plus consider that any team assembled with three or four new signings now, as so many fans seems to want, would take time to gel - formations would have to be reassessed, training would need to change etc and Hodgson knows we don't have the time to tinker and find what works, hence his comments about being given money late in the window and his inability to spend it wisely without time. If Hodgson manages to wring out the potential from Babel as he did with Zamora we should be fine on the left flank with him and Jovanovic both capable of playing CF and Pacheco deserves a chance. The sticking point is arguably still LB, but Konchesky should fill a hole there, no matter how unspectacular he is. I think it's time to stop wishing for big signings and look at how our squad can perform, it's not the best in the league, but it's certainly not as bad as some make out.

Ed, any idea what formation will be played tonight? Who's palying LB?

This is specially for roy hogson from a student who is doing his medicine exam paper but end up strugling to even sleep just becouse to worried about liverpool. sir roy please spent little of your time and really do go through this. i would really appreciate f some will post this to him.
accept 18mil plus hleb n martin cancares. martin is 27 btw. check out on you tube how he plays. he looks quite solid. if the deal goes through then sell kuyt to inter for 12mil. n also insua to anyplace in region of 4-5mil, so other club will increase his salary. sell lucas to palermo for 5-6 mi, as we have poulsen in back up.
which mean over here is we r going to have 18+12+5+5=40mil +hleb n cacaresr.
now replacements
for mascherano, get lassana diarra. english league proven lad, and still young. plus can oso operate on rb if req. will cost 10mil.
replacement for kuyt, get ben arfa for 7 mil or turan for 12 mil or ruiz for 15 mil. i say buy both turan and ben arfa. ruiz is decent player but liverpool not in budget to spend so big. and we have hleb in there. decent back up.
from recent sales, ,

sales more fringe players now itself
plessis bout 1-2mil
elzhar 1 mil
spearing on loan
ngog on loan, coz looks like time to give babel and pacheco the chance to shine this season. plus we are having jovanovic. just rest torres to rest, don't let him injusre himself again.

which means we need to get a good backup for torres.
this are the following players
forlan = 10-15mil (although ageing but still scoring amazing goals and in 2 years we'll have our pacheco + babel shinning)
ricky van wolfswinkel = 8mil
toivonon = 8-10mil
charlton cole = (6mil n next year 5mil) most likely but i wouldn't want this to go through.
but wat i would really love to see is kasuke honda,
bring him for 12mil and adds on next season 3-4mil on performance.

this might still leave us with about 3mil. i think time to bring john arne risse back to anfield. but not likely to happened. go for 2+2mil.
roma should let this tranfer referring to aqua injured.

but if the closing date is stil on y not try to get mahamou diarra on free basis, and loan in van der vart. no harm in trying.

Just a few ideas. .I have no sources or genuine transfer news, I'm just a frustrated fan venting exactly that.
In the last few months we seemed to have been linked with every player under the sun, and nothing substantial has materialised. I'm really happy with the purchases of Shelvey and Wilson, both stars of the future which is something we were certainly lacking. However, other than Pepe, Nando and Stevie, we are seriously lacking in stars of the present. Carragher has been a wonderful player for us over the years and rightly deserves his place in Liverpool folklore but, as much as it pains me to say, he isn't good enough for the top level anymore. He was never a pacy player, but now he becomes exposed almost weekly, against mediocre opponents. Skrtel is showing promise, yet there's still something lacking, which was displayed in the horrendous tackle resulting in a penalty against s* tTY. Agger has the attributes to be a complete defender, but a central defender, we definitely aren't seeing the best of him in left back. The seemingly impending transfer of Paul Konchesky only highlights my fears that we are not moving forward as a club, as we are not attracting the top players. Mascherano no matter how much we all hate him for his behaviour, will be sorely missed in football terms. He was fantastic against Arsenal, and the loss to the team without him has become clear over the two games against Trabonspor and s* tTY. Poulsen without doubt can do a job in that position, but again not at the highlest level, what made Masch so effective was of course his determination and ball winning ability which Poulsen has; but also his deceptive pace; something which Poulsen almost certainly doesn't have. Maxi is a player that has 'Rafa Signing' all over him, he's not great on the ball, doesn't have much pace and half the time looks completely disinterested, at least Lucas(with all his inadequacies) still works hard. And on that note, this brings me onto Dirk Kuyt. Yes, he works hard, BUT he lacks: A first touch. Heading ability. Pace. Tackling ability and passing ability/ vision. He has been a loyal servant but if it is true that Inter are going to offer £15million for him, f*cking bite their hands off, we need flair on the wing, pace, crossing ability. At the end of the day he is a poor striker playing on the wing. Ngog is showing promise, but we definitely need a proven goalscorer to take the burden off Nando. Someone on here said that Nando looked a bit unhappy against s* tTY, I wouldn't whole heartedly agree with that, he looked pressured by his status in the team, he and Stevie shouldn't be the sole focus of the team and fans, they should just be a brilliant part of a brilliant team. We are a wonderful club, the biggest in the world, we should be challenging for every honour going, yet we are desperately clasping onto our best players with seemingly empty promises, and competing in the equivalent of Sainsbury's basics European competition when we should be in Marks and Spencers(The Champion's League). Roy needs time and we need money, I'm just scared that we don't have either to give, and at this point next season we'll be staring mediocrity even straighter in the face. We have to get a couple of world class signings in before the window, or disillusionment will inevitably ensue. What are your thoughts ed?
YNWA! {editor's note - I don't think things are as bad as you think. We are in a transition stage, but it could go either way, it depends on Roy getting rid of the dead weight and replacing them with the right players. We should be able to raise enough from selling players, to buy decent replacements and then use kids to cover the gaps.}

I know iam dreaming but imagine if we actually did get zlatan plus cash for mascherano.

Plus why are people saying get the older diarra for a free, sky sports news said that they would accept 6 million for him, and 8.5 for lassana diarra, so why not for the extra 2.5 million got and get lass?

Hi Ed, I keep reading a lot of stories saying that we are completely broke. However if that was the case why did Roy say 'he didn't have to sell Masch as he didn't need the money'. Are we to assume A. he's just being a company man and doing what the board tell him or B. We have some players that have already been targeted and are within budget.

{Editor's Note: One would always expect a consolidated view point and that is not just doing what he's told. There is not going to be too much money as the owners are selling up. But everyone seems to want to change the entire team.}

Also I think we all read that Keith Harris (not the one with Orvil but the business man) state that a buyer had done due dilgilliance and that they were waying up an offer. so why can't we invest in the team now if we now a buyer will come into the club Sept/ Oct time?

Another thing would Stevie and Torres of committed themselves if they knew no investment was coming into the club?

Finally Broughton has always said the sale of the club would be done out of media. Even you have stated its incredibly difficult to get any news about the sale of the club.

A lot or recent articles about the club future are depressing and hopefully not true. So am I too much of an optomist (spelling) or are we really dooooomed? ?

Can you answer any ofthe above?

regards

A worried red

Liverpool have no money, even after we do sell Mascherano we will buy s* t! We've never been a club to buy big apart from Torres! This is the main reason why we are out of the top 4! The top 4 teams have basically bought the league and in order to get back into the top 4 we need a buyer and a confident approach towards big players because we are an attractive team with the right funding!

Ok now im i realy big Liverpool fan but if we want to challenge for the big for let alone the top seven we should get this maschrano deal done quick. so in realistic terms to keep torres happy and everyone else happ mascherano swap with imbrahimovic. that will atleast get us 45 goals if they stay fit. also the yanks are to blame if torres and gerrard go! I must admit I was very embarressed watching the news when FIFA delegates were shown round manchester. Two massive stadiums. with fantastic infrastructure and even the sun was out. . .later they took the delegates up the lancs and in a meeting in the snug in the copplehouse, showed them the plans for the new stadium , written on the back of a beermat.A couple of ex players showed them round. One delegate said, "are you the new arab owner?" "no im Vinny Samways" came the reply."Oh So your not a footballer then?". They were later taken to the outdoor arena(beergarden) were they shook hands with famous players of past merseyside teams, Kevin Langley, Brett Angel. Excuse me piped up the delegate but where is Pistone. he hasnt managed to come sad Brett. no you missunderstand where is pistones i need a pee. Then they were served as says on the menu , a meal fit for a king (unfortunately Andy King). these arent scollaps said one guy. to which he held up his knife with a potato in batter on it. "They are round here" said the chef, "and call that a knife? this is a knife!" added the chef as he pulled a machete out. ."Who the bloody hells that?" Shaun Dundee said Samways. .later while taking cocktails near the burning mark 3 cortina, one of the officals stated We can see the potential here as he pointed to kirby golf course with the coke tins on sticks for flags. He then shook hands with the guy with socks on his hands, mounted the coach. .then rang ATS and waited for tyre replacements. . . . . . . . . . . . .

There is a strong rumour that there's a lot of fans on here that can see past lazy journalism. .

Monster Mash is leaving ONLY BECAUSE HIS WIFE CAN ONLY SPEAK SPANISH AND REFUSES OR CAN'T LEARN ANOTHER LANGUAGE. . (Do your research Masch has been saying this for 2 years now)
So just cos rafa went to inter dosn't mean he's going there. . he will ONLY be going to a spanish team!

In regards to another striker. . anyone who knows anything about the game (and if woy didn;t know before he quikcly learned at man city) that 4-4-2 is obsolete! and is easliy dominated by the fluid formation that rafa brought to europe and was copied and still being played by Barca, manure, chelsea, arsenal And now madrid as it was Morinho who copied it first for chelsea. . So any striker being bought will be a second (in the hole) striker to play to compete will cole (or kuyt if he trys him there) leaving gerrard to return to his favoured central midfield. .
an out and out would only be back up to torres who already has back up in a ngog (who's had a good pre season) and any youth that he will try out this season. .

any. IF ANY AT ALL players are bought they are likley to be full backs (left but possible right maybe to if he don't trust kelly and trys johnson forward- although i doubt this alot)
denfensive midfield (to replace Masch.
and possible a winger or 2(doubt very much 2)
any of these posistions would be filled before wasting money and convicing someone to sit on the bench. .

Please stop reading the sun etc. . anytime a manager leaves the press always link his old players with him. Real linked with snieder and maicon cos of moriniho inter linked with masch and kuyt etc etc etc. us with a host of fulham players. . it happens every year but very very rarely are they fact. . its just lazy lazy journalism. . {editor's note - forget the lazy journalism stuff, you are just as lazy mate. If you bothered to find out, you would know that Mash's missus speaks enough English to get by, it is all just an excuse to get a move.}

26 Aug 2010 14:09:22
To be honest, and this is only my opinion, I think it is vital for us bring in at least 3 new faces before the transfer window shuts. I think monday night just exemplified a problem that we've had and haven't solved for the last 5/ 6 years: lack quality out wide (or even just lack of wingers out wide). For as long as i can remember lfc have played have played with stikers/ att.midfieders on the wings who never stay wide. With the wingers coming in off the flanks too much it congests the opposition defense and midfield making even harder to play through the center. Now this wouldn't be so much of a problem if our full backs overlapped and marauded down the flanks like arsenal's do but our's don't do it with any degree of consistency (not even Johnson). Now I don't think it was a coincidence that when we finished 2nd, and had our best season for however long, that we had Riera consistently performing (not outstandingly cos he's not an outstanding player as he lacks pace for a winger) on the left wing. Now, even if we are to understand that the yanks have shafted us once more and not given us any money to spend, we have only spent £3.7mil so far (shelvey, wilson) and brought in around £11.2mil (riera, yossi, nemeth and san jose) thus giving us £7.5mil still to spend. I think that we should take £20mil for masch, £14mil for kuyt (I luv him but i think he holds us back). That would leave us with a £41m transfer budget, with which would bring in Lassana Diarra for £8mil (way better than mahamadou diarra and real want to get rid of him), SWP for £6/ 7mil (Under a manager like roy and given some consistent playing time I think he could be fantastic), Ola Toivonen for £10mil (Big, versatile player who could sub for or play with Torres, and will develop into something special) and Ashley Young for £16mil (I think it would be accepted by villa and pushed through by young due to the problems at the club at the moment). This would all cost us around 41mil and if we got rid of insua for 4/ 5mil we could get in bridge for the same amount. U might not agree with bridge and SWP but they could even act as good (and english) squad players when the take over is completed. Also also think it was a mistake to let aqua go as he added quality to our average bench so maybe a cheeky loan bid for van der vaart might be an option. Let me know what u think

26 Aug 2010 14:08:38
Its a sad day when the players we are linked with are others cast-offs. Especially rumours of unwanted foreign players like Trezeguet & Ben Arfa. I am going to assume we will sign no players other than konchesky (who is simply not good enough - but better than what we have). That way I won't be disappointed when deadline day comes and we still have no wide players with pace and a decent CM (Gerrard aside) & no 2nd striker.

Masch sale could bring in Caceres, Hleb & Banega (or even Parker) I just don't know why it isn't happening.

I through Matt Oakley was the captain of LCFC. When did he play for Liverpool? ? {editor's note - Jack Hobbs was Leicester's captain whenever I saw them play last season.}

Sensible buys with what money we have available. .

M.Diarra - DM
P.konchesky -LB
D.Trezeguet - CF
O. Toivonen - AM/ CF

then if we get anywhere near 15 million for 30 year old Dirk Kuyt the we should cash in and buy a replacement winger with the ability to get past defenders.

why not even get a season long loan for someone like van der vaart or huntelaar as another forward threat.

FC Utrecht attacker Ricky van Wolfswinkel is interesting Liverpool.

Liverpool had scouts in the stands to see Van Wolfswinkel in action on Saturday against Willem II.

Utrecht expect Liverpool to make an offer for their Holland international before the summer market shuts. They're ready to sell for around £8 million.

Van Wolfswinkel has struck six goals in his last seven games.

I just saw this and thought i would post it and see what people think I don't know how good this guy is.

I really can't fathom why some of u so called LFC fans are knocking the signings Roy is rumoured to be making ie Konchesky

It reall wasn't that long ago a certain (well actually maybe 20 years or so) Alex Ferguson was snapping up players like Steve Bruce and Denis Irwin for Manure, remember these players went onto great things - Roy is trying to put a team together on a shoe string so lets back him and trust in him.

We need team players not big ego's on fat wages - Get Mascha n Kuyt out of there! !

In Roy we TRUST. .

YES I NOTED THIS YESTERDAY. KONCHESKY MIGHT NOT BE A WORLD STAR BUT HE HAS GOOD PREM. LEAGUE EXPERIENCE IN A PROBLEMATIC POSITION FOR LIVERPOOL. INSUA GIVES TOO MANY STUPID FREE KICKS AWAY.
JOEY JONES, ALAN KENNEDY, JIM BEGLIN AND STEVE STAUNTON WERE NOT WORLD STARS BUT ALL PLAYED GREAT PARTS IN LIVERPOOL'S GREAT HISTORY.
KONCHEVSKY IS PROBABLY A SHORT TERM BUY AND FAIRLY CHEAP. HE WILL GIVE FLEXIBILITY AND MORE EXPERIENCE TO OUR BENCH ALSO.

Why o why did we get rid of robbie keane?

in my honest opinion, if we didn't sell him when we did, we'd have won the prem in 08/ 09 because we'd have had top notch back up for torres. i feel for keane because lfc is his dream club and you saw the joy and passion of him when he was playing, and then all of a sudden he's sold.

i loved rafa but you can't deny this was one of his biggest mistakes. we'd have no need to be looking at average players like carlton cole now if we had never have sold him.

keep the faith

The reason he never played him was because Rafa asked for David Villa and a fee was agreed of 15-16 mil PARRY refused to pay this and said he would move for him after the euro's. . where he played so well his value soared to 40-50mil and jumped on everyone radar. . Parry then went out quickly a secured the services of Keane knowing his childhood liverpool support and that rafa had said good things about him before in the past. .But Rafa made it clear to the fans THIS WAS NOT HIS SIGNING. by never playing him and he was quickly sold.
It was because of this villa/ Keane saga. Parry also refusing to pay 2-3mil for bale and 9mil for walcott(we got babel instead and for more) even though on advise from liverpools new youth team scout (secured from southampton) rafa said to get these players at all cost (and unlike printed in the press it was Bale who was the main target not walcott) It was these deals that i know about personaly and maybe even more (not sure on any others) Parry was eventually asked to step down by H&G. . Hope that answers your questions. . And in case you doubt my words the villa saga is common knowledge and made clear by rafa and the southampton bale and walcott. well my father worked as a youth team scout for chelsea then when he moved to southamton i visited the club with him and was told by the man himself that he was moving to liverpool and that rafa had agreed with him about walcotts good future but als othat bale would become one of the best left backs in the world within a few years and that rafa had told his upstairs to aquire him at all costs. . {editor's note - is this all a complete fantasy? Rafa gave Parry a list, Keane was on there, Parry got Keane, but paid a lot more than Rafa wanted and also messed up a deal for Barry. Rafa threw his toys out of his pram and refused to give Keane a chance to get Parry out of the club.}

On the subject of Aquilani and his loan move to Juventus. I believe he had very bad luck in his year at Liverpool.
In my opinion when he did play he never 'hid' like some and was always asking for the ball. He seemed to be trying very hard- maybe too hard to impress.
Maybe with a longer run of playing and better 'fitness' everything may have come together and he may have become the good player some of his touches in the few games he played seemed to show.

Hi to all Pool fans! I'm a Pool fan myself an it's the first time I'm posting in here. . Well, it's always a pleasure reading all the rumors about our club, however baseless they can be. . but I would like all fans to get real 4 once n stop posting rumors which are to the least stupid. .I need not mention. . However, we are under the illusion that our club will come up good every season n after the signing of every single player, be it of Lucas level or Cole level, we fans start dreaming that this season will be ours and we'll be champions again. . unfortunately, things at LIVERPOOL are beyond everyone of us n whoever pretends to know n have contacts inside the club are just trying to fool us or fooling themselves by giving false hopes. . Our team has definitely lost its meaning and no team fears Pool anymore. . This is coz things are dealt with in a very slack manner at Pool n even Roy has lost it. .we are keeping players like Lucas, Ngog n many others who are not even worth wearing the Red shirt on the field(without disrespect to them) n loaning or selling some of our best players like Masch, Aqua etc.The best way is to just be realistic. .Pool will keep finding big and when the transfer windows will be about to close what you'll see is a striker or any other player who's passed his best will be joining us. . and we better think of lifting the Premier League after another 4-5 yrs. . if u agree with me then I'm right but if you have better suggestions, I'm all ears to you Pool fans.

Steven Taylor is a good possibility, young english, plays central or right back, contract running down. Would allow the greek to move to italy. Get rid of Mascherano, bring in m diarra or banega. Also Toivonen, doubt we will get pazzini. JF96 YNWA

I don't buy masch's excuse that it is family problems that are the reason for his all-of-a-sudden desire to leave he's been in England for 4 seasons now and he is saying his family don't like the weather and cannot speak the language. Why has it all got worse in the the last few weeks? Are his family problems so bad that he decided on monday that they can't last another week here so decided not to play? What used to happen before when rafa was is charge and his family couldn't speak English? I can't be certain but I'm pretty sure that they didn't use rafa as n interpreter

26 Aug 2010 13:30:29
This is becoming a joke, Rafa Benitez didn't assemble the best squad, but it looks like Roy Hodgson is determined to make it even worse. linked with players that are not good enough to pull on the famous red jersey.

possible outs. .
Mascherano £20mil
Kuyt £10-£15mil

possible ins. .(realistic)
NONE. .(maybe Konchesky. wow)

Roy has had ages to sign a few decent players, but now we are fast approaching the close of the transfer window it looks likely we won't sign anyone else. i also think gerrard and torres probably said they will give it one more season and if we are not in the champions league next season expect them to leave, as much as i wouldn't like that to happen i think we need a reality check. i already think Roy was the wrong man for the job, he hasn't got a clue, his transfer targets fit in at fulham but not at anfield. do people honestly think we can sign several players before the transfer window closes? unless mascherano is sold NOW, we probably won't sign anyone of any real class. i think it is not looking good for us, away in europe tonight against a half decent team with only a 1-0 lead, don't be surprised if we are out of europe tonight, and if so, then RH needs sacking straight away. i have supported LFC all my life(over 30 yrs) and i have never been so down as to what is happening to my great club.

I still can not understand why we have not bought a striker? The biggest problem we had last season was not having back up for torres who is constantly injured and will more than likely be out for at least 20 games this season for various reasons. Surely we can not rely on Ngog to be a lone striker, someone benitez bought for 1 million. Has Roy been given any money to spend in the transfer window because so far he has bought no one without selling first. Its an absolute disgrace what the cowboys have done to are club. . we have gone from joint favourites to winning the league last season to not even challengers for 4th place this season. I will always support the club but i really fear for the future if a takeover does not happen quickly. Dont expect any good signings to be made. . Even if mascherano and kuyt are both sold i wouldn't expect the money generated to be spent on bringing other players in. Heartbreaking to see a club you have always loved being destroyed in front of you.

To the guy who said about dan agger becoming a defensive midfielder, is GENIOUS! hes an overall great great player, and ona the best we have. hes confident, great with the ball at his feet, great passer, and ona the best shots in the premier league. Now all for RH to sign is Pazzini, Konchesky, Ben Arfa, and Steven Taylor {editor's note - you really think Konchesky (who Roy spent his entire time at Fulham trying to replace as not good enough), Ben Arfa (who is hated by every person who has ever played alongside him) and Taylor (who was the weakest link in a terrible Newcastle defence) are good enough for Liverpool?}

Lets just keep it simple cus we need value for money. . sign up Mahammodou Diarra let him sit infront of the back four, the worrying thing is going forward ! . when torres or gerrard arn't playing we never look like scoring. we need another special striker and a winger like J cole that does their role properly. oh and please play babel instead of ngog up front that's where he will do his magic. i have every faith in roy he's the man for us ! !

26 Aug 2010 12:24:25

It makes me laugh will all the sources people claim to have and who we are buying. If everyone was "in the know" then we would have a squad bigger than Citeh, a team better than Chelski and probably be more consistent than Man urinal.
The only good sources are the ones you dip your chips in.

Let Roy get on with the job whilst having his hands tied and a gun to his head. Lets face it, no-one else would work in those conditions.

I think we have to assume that if we sell masch we have little chance of getting the money for transfers from the dallas cowboys or the people controling the debt, so would it be better to take a player plus cash deal so we at least get a new player( not just any player obviously remember nunez)

26 Aug 2010 12:11:46

Liverpool really need a overhaul.
We need to get rid of:
Mascherano
Lucas
Soto
Kuyt
Babel

Then we need to sign:
Lb - koncheskey
Dm - I would like to see muntari or lass diarra as both young and have prem experience and not in favour at their clubs, but I feel we will not get any one as poulsen is probably his replacement.
Cm - I would like us to get some one like noble to replace Lucas but Lucas probably will not go any where
Lm - I would like to sell downing but will not happen do maybe Ben arfa.
Em - bentley as he is out of favour at tottenham and wouldn't cost to much
Striker - seems like we are getting linked with every one and no one is comming.

26 Aug 2010 12:00:41

Messi has said Liverpool should act humanely and let masch leave. How dare he say that when they have not conducted this whole business the proper way and they have toyed around using masch desire to leave so not to put in the proper price for him so to force an exit. They act like villains and football clubs they know nothing about the correct channels of conducting business in the football world evident from the mess they did with Fabregas! ! ! And was it humane Mr.Messi that masch before the match by two hours decides not to play because your club cannot be bothered to put the right price on the table and instead act cheaply and dishonestly and Roy is forced into changes and the very tolerant and patient Pool fans to be betrayed in this way after we gave Mascherano his name in world football! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

26 Aug 2010 11:59:41
Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the only position RH has actually come out and been quoted as expressing an interest in shoring up are our striking options?

I can see the logic behind Konchesky at LB, namely Prem expeience and a player he knows he can work with. I know we've got Aurelio and Insua, but it's only a matter of time before Aurelio is back on the physio's table and Insua can't lay off the pies for long. The money spent will likely be recouped by Spartan going off to Juve anyway now that Wilson will be making some appearances.

I also think those assuming we are going to reinvest any of the Masch money for a direct replacement are wide of the mark. Poulsen was/ is his replacement - much cheaper, plays a simple game, picks up reds and yellows like they were going out of fashion and can only pass as far as he can spit - give him a wig and he could almost be Masch.

The majority of the money will probably be reinvested in a decent striker who we now know isn't C Cole.

Inter Milan have made an official £20m bid for Liverpool's Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano, 26, who is also a target for Barcelona.

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has accused his predecessor Rafael Benitez of reneging on a written promise that he would not try to lure players away from Anfield to his new club Inter Milan - with the Spaniard tracking the Merseyside club's Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt.

David Trezaguet to the Premier League, with Liverpool, West Brom and Aston Villa all interested in the 32-year-old Frenchman.

To those that run this site - I think it is very important that anyone who didn't see this excellent piece of research on Kenny Huang, his supposed LFC bid and his character from yesterdays Liverpool Banter page.
Every Liverpool fan should get the chance to read it and see his unsuitabilty. So I have pasted it on today. Thanks

25 Aug 2010 12:25:56
The credibility of Liverpool's would-be saviour Kenny Huang is thrown into further doubt today with revelations that he has a history of making claims about his background and business interests that swing between exaggeration and falsehood.
Huang has been hailed as Liverpool's would-be saviour in some quarters since early August, but withdrew from the bidding process without explanation on Friday.
Sources say he pulled out after failing to produce evidence of funds, and failing to identify his backers. This development came amid ongoing but unsubstantiated claims that he has the backing of China's $332bn CIC sovereign wealth fund, and that he may re-enter the fray.
Yet Huang's background suggests that any grandiose claims about him, or by him, should be scrutinised carefully rather than taken at face value.
A three-week investigation by sportingintelligence has unearthed disturbing evidence that Huang has fabricated information about his studies at prestigious American universities, has claimed to be in a position of power at one of China's biggest, richest banks (which the bank denies), and, as we previously revealed, has personally claimed to be the head of a group that owned a 15 per cent stake in an NBA basketball franchise, which was never true.
There are myriad claims that don't stand up to scrutiny, and sportingintelligence will detail them today. Those mentioned in the previous paragraph are among the most serious because Huang made the claims himself under oath in January this year, in a federal court in Miami, during a civil trial in which he prevailed (and was awarded costs of more than $300,000) – after convincing a jury of his innocence.
Huang's bid for Liverpool, and its credibility or otherwise, is important for several reasons.
Liverpool are historically one of England's most prized football assets, and desperately need new owners and new finance to take them forward. As things stand, their fans remain in the dark about when or if that will happen.
Huang's "credibility" was established to the extent that reports of a potential Huang-CIC-LFC deal even reached the front pages as well as the back pages.
This in turn led to serious analysis and interpretation by economists and geo-political observers in respectable publications about the role of "new China" in the wider world.
And if CIC, with Huang as the frontman, had bid or ever do bid for Liverpool, as part of a new spurt of international Chinese cultural expansion, it would be an enormous story, in sporting, economic and political terms. That's why sportingintelligence started to look at it in such depth.
But was it actually true? Is it? And if not, how did so many people come to believe it?
It has been difficult to know for sure what is true about Huang's bid, not least because those speaking on his behalf (latterly, officially, the London and Hong Kong offices of the PR firm, Hill & Knowlton, with others briefing in the shadows) have been unable or unwilling to respond to some of the simplest questions about his background.
Hence the importance of an official trial transcript (publicly available), where Huang, in his own words and under oath, makes claims about his own background.
To stress: he won the case in question in a jury hearing. He has also won other legal actions against him, pending appeal(s); and his Florida lawyer says there is only one outstanding judgement against him, surrounding unpaid debts of $788, 300.54, plus interest, dating back to 1998. Huang is appealing that.
But the testimony in the January case about his background is so important because it is a rare (perhaps sole) example of Huang making personal statements that have been officially recorded and cannot be claimed as out of context or misquotes.
In his testimony (and the relevant parts of the transcript are here):
• CLAIM Huang said, in the present tense, that he was the leader of a group that owned 15 per cent of the NBA basketball team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. That stake, if true, would have been worth around $70m. Huang's direct quote is: "I am the leader of the group that has 15 per cent of the ownership." Asked to clarify that he leads an investment group that owns 15 per cent of the Cavs, he replies: "Correct."
• DENIAL A spokesman at the NBA's head office in New York has issued sportingintelligence with a statement saying: "Mr. Huang has never had any ownership interest in the Cleveland Cavaliers or any other NBA team."
.
• CLAIM Huang said, while talking about his business interests: "I'm sitting on the board of Bank of Communications, assets management, which is the fourth largest bank in China." The bank is indeed one of China's biggest, with almost 70,000 employees and revenues in the billions. A Hill & Knowlton spokesman backed up Huang's claim of a role on an assets board.
• DENIAL Eric Pan, a deputy senior manager at the Bank of Communications' HQ in Shanghai, has issued sportingintelligence with a statement saying: "I would like to confirm that Mr. Huang does NOT have any position at our bank, nor has he ever held any position at our bank or at the Board of our bank."
.
• CLAIM Huang said he worked at the New York Stock Exchange "starting the end of 87". This would coincide with the end of the only period of his US education that has yet been verified: just four months at Columbia University from September to December 1987, as documented below by the official body in the USA that provides such data.

• CLAIM Huang adds in his testimony: "The New York Stock Exchange sent me to another school, New York University. When I was working there, I also attended the MBA program". Separately, on a website of one of Huang's other companies, Aspen (now effectively defunct), there is the claim that Kenny Huang "completed the MBA financial management courses at New York University, New York when he was working in Wall Street in the 80s."
• DENIAL But Andrew Morton, an administrator at the NYU graduate records and registrations office (which holds information on all past and present MBA students), has told sportingintelligence there is no record of Kenny Huang, under either his Chinese or anglicised names, at NYU, either on the computer records, which date back to the early 1980s, nor within any hard-copy records of attendance or graduation at any time. "You'd be surprised how often people say they attended but actually didn't, " Mr Morton said.
.
• Huang says in his testimony he graduated from St John's University in New York with a Master's, majoring in Japanese. Sportingintelligence requested confirmation of this on 16 August from the relevant official body in the USA, and is awaiting a reply. If Huang did obtain a Master's at Columbia, his timeline of education during his testimony is misleading. As and when confirmation is available, it will be updated here.
.
• Elsewhere in the testimony, Huang also says he was voted the No1 philanthropist in China in 2009. This may be the case, but despite repeated requests, no spokesperson can point to any evidence of this. It may indeed exist, but we have been unable to locate it independently. But Huang is not listed anywhere on the 2009 Hurun Philanthropy list, which comprises the top 100 philanthropists in China by volume of donations in 2009.
.
• Huang claims he was "well known in China" at a period in 2002 when he was asked to travel there on behalf of a US-based company. But established figures in business and sporting circles in China insist Kenny Huang was not well known in China at that time. Huang says he was associated with the Houston Rockets and Yao Ming but he merits no mention in Yao's autobiography, which details a long cast of people who helped Yao move from China to the USA in 2002.
.
Within the Chinese media, there is incredulity about Huang's involvement in any Liverpool bid. Yan Qiang, also known by his anglicised name of John Yan, is the vice-president of Titan Sports, China's most prominent and authoritative sports newspaper. Yan is a respected commentator on sport and sports business in China, and a regular contributor to the Chinese edition of the FT, as when writing here earlier this month on Huang and Liverpool.
"Kenny Huang only made his name and came to most people's attention in China for the first time in 2009 when he was linked to the proposal for the Cavaliers, " Yan told sportingintelligence today. "Certainly I had never heard of him before then, and he has no track record in sport in China before then.
"Ever since the story broke that he wanted to purchase Liverpool, the reaction from China's sports marketing industry has been the same: nobody trusted it. In most people's view, he didn't seem to be a serious businessman in this industry; and a lot of people don't think that he knows much about sports business.
"His own claim as the minority owner of the NBA franchise Cleveland Cavaliers has long been denied; NBA China has been telling all media that Huang was not the buyer, and the negotiation was not serious enough.
"There is a serious question mark over his intention to buy LFC. Everyone knows that managing a professional football club, from a purely investment point of view, would not be sound business. The claims that CIC or another sovereign fund's involvement are rootless. But at least Huang got huge publicity, because all Chinese media has been following up this news."
Sportingintelligence has asked dozens of questions about Kenny Huang's background and business dealings over the past two weeks to Kenny Huang, and / or to Hill & Knowlton on his behalf, to Huang's Florida lawyer about the disputed claims in his testimony, and to Huang's Chicago-based business partner, Marc Ganis. The vast majority remain unanswered.

{Editor's Note: Hopefully we can now put the Huang nonsense to rest.}

'talk about the pot calling the kettle black'. .we all at some point must have heard this saying.

it makes me laugh when woy says rafa has an agreement that he would not poach any liverpool players, with kuyt and mascherano constantly linked with inter. and as the another saying goes 'there's no smoke without fire', rafa is defo sniffing around.

however all this coming from a fella who has a 'gentlemens agreement' with Al fayed that he'll not sign any fulham players, as we're linked with konchesky to name but one!. . . .that's before Al Fayed when a slated him off to the media Roy is entitled to go back on the agreement . Do ya agree Ed? {editor's note - not myself, no. For one, Konchesky isn't good enough, and for two, why not be the bigger man and look elsewhere. If you really have to dig at Fulham, sign Salcido from under their noses, he is better than Konchesky anyway.}

Liverpool reached the uefa champs league final twice under rafa right? And who did they beat in the semis on both occasions? I think mr. Mourinho is still a bit sour because he never won the champs league with that plastic blues team at a time when they were probably at their best, so whatever negative things anyone says about liverpool its because they are jealous, just my opinion.

Just reading a report on SSN from lionel messi saying to 'act humanely' and let javier leave Liverpool. I just want to know if anyone can clarify to me that when a player signs a contract does it actually mean anythin?

I read this as well, but should Masch not be the one who should act humanely, we saved his career, made him the footballer he is today, and he acts like a child and disrespects all the Liverpool fans who pay his wages with his childish behaviour, Roy should fine him, and fine him heavily to send a message to all other players that this behaviour will not be tollerated! !

YNWA {editor's note - if anyone wishes to treat me as inhumanely as Mash I will gladly sign that contract. Thousands of pounds a week to play football, now that is just a disgrace!}

Minday night showed roy exactly what he'd need, we were out muscled in midfield and outpacd down the wings, tevez should have been tracked all game by a holding midfielder and agger wasnt comfortable at lb. we need an adam johnson (a.young) constant threat all game. we need holding mid in masch mould, diarra is fast and hard! torres is far from full fitness so obviously another striker, zlatan would be cworth a punt bit lazy but incredibly talented, if were loosing masch we should get best deal poss maybe player exchange. i heard this is in roys mind!

"He that is faithful with little shall be rewarded with much! "

Could it be that the new owners (assuming this is so) have told Roy that he has to prove his business and player buying savi first before they invest heavily? Give Roy free reign as to who he wants in or out during this transfer window with the view if LFC are still competing for forth (at least) he will have their full backing come January.

Just a theory that sounds plausible to me with what is going on at LFC.

Just reading a report on SSN from lionel messi saying to 'act humanely' and let javier leave Liverpool. I just want to know if anyone can clarify to me that when a player signs a contract does it actually mean anythin? Yes Liverpool will let javier leave but not for pennies and a think Roy is right to hold out and decide the players future instead of the player gettin the hump and getting his own way! Javier the monster is far too much of a liability if u ask me. Bring xabi alonso home, best CM in the world!

Barca are clearly looking to sell Zlatan. . so why not swap Mascherano for Zlatan and cash? Sure Zlatan hasn't been great for Barca since joining them but with his size and skill he would be a great companion for Nando up top.

Zlatan hasn't been great for anyone, he's the most over rated player in world football, and we would have to sell 3-4 players just to cover his rediculous wages, no thanks!

26 Aug 2010 10:04:49

Despite my personal misgivings yesterday on this forum, we seem hellbent in public in suggesting that £18 million is around the right rate for Mascherano. With Fabregas touted as more than twice that amount, we seem to be panicking.

The ludicrous clown who sits next to Alan Brazil in the morning on talkSPORT seems to have infected Brazil now. He was saying how poor we looked (we did), but at least he had the sense to suggest it was only the start of the campaign.

Roy Hodgson: I was surprised at how irritated he seemed to be over the past two days when asked about the Mascherano saga. It doesn't help when there is the usual deafening silence from the PFA (too busy contemplating what value they are to the game no doubt!) but rise above it Roy.
The journalists (what training do some of them have?) ask questions of every manager that border on the ridiculous - "You must be delighted?" (after a 6-0 win) or "Are you unhappy at today's performance?" (they've just been drubbed 4-0!) so I set little store by their ability to provoke Roy.
He appears frustrated at the moment and my suspicion is that the squeeze on finances due to the protracted sale (will it ever rid of us of the Americans?) is poking him in the ribs.

Lukas Podolski: his performances in the Bundesliga last year mirrored those of his East German/ Polish compatriot, Klose. Yet internationally he can turn on the works. Reading between many lines in the German media, it still appears he is unsettled at Cologne (and they with his miserly goal tally last season for them) and I would suggest he would make a strong left-sided addition to the squad. With Jovanovic looking comfortable in that cliched role 'behind the front man' it would work for me.

Wilson: I may have missed him from my treatise yesterday. I saw a little of him for Rangers and very impressed. I would like to see him start tonight and still hope that Jonjo Shelvey will be given a chance to show what he can do alongside Lucas tonight.

Ada Turan: the Turkish media are still hinting that the player wants to leave for Liverpool. He has been diplomatic about the issue and only hinted at his fervour for the club. My desire is to see Babel given a four game run to prove once and for all his worth - then to sell him in January if he doesn't step up. Buying Turan for the right would then allow us to replace Dirk Kuyt. Babel and Kuyt departing would reduce the squad and give Amoo, Wilson, Shelvey, Eccleston and Pacheco places on the bench more often.

Axel Witsel: the initial interest in the Standaard Liege midfielder came before RH arrived. Since then it seems to have died down and I am dissapointed in this. A combatative and slightly sparky player, Witsel was keen on a move and for a fee that would enable us to fund the second striker we need. A little in the Gerrard mould and younger, but a player who is keen to step up. With Babel, Lucas and Kuyt appearing unsettled, then he may be one to revisit?

Sammy Lee: a solid and dependable coach and a 'legend' (too many people called that in the game!) and respected. I am intrigued at his input into the RH workings. I don't know him, nor anyone connected to him, but I wonder if he is the right one to provide Roy with a 'shouting/ barking' sidekick role and keep the players in line?

Carragher: there have been more sugestions on the forum recently that JC is finally falling away from his high standards and that age is catching up with him. I accept that. I did say a few weeks ago that he was no longer quick enough to catch younger defenders and the World Cup highlighted that. For this reason, we must cast aside sentiment and put Wilson alongside Agger/ Skrtel. Ferguson would be strong enough to do it - I think Roy may also be.

Finally . . a little gripe and a few pet hates. Not menat as personal barbs, but they come with fame/ money territories.

John Cross: the Daily Mirror's man on talkSPORT at 7.00am with Alan Brazil and the clown who helps him. Cross starts every sentence with "Yeh, no, but . ." Heard that some where before I think . .

Ronnie Irani: talkSPORT's morning show clown. Is it necessary to butt into every guest's greeting to shown them you are in the studio? His interruptions when interesting topics/ guests come on often sees them lose the thread. He is hopeless.

The FA: I call them The Cadre of Criminal Clowns. The ongoing Capello saga is dragging them even further into the mire and they are derided by many fans.

And . . finally . . there seems no end to the sale saga.

Looks like kuyt and mascherano are going. I still don't understand why gerrard and toress stayed at Liverpool. I hope we do get some good news before Wednesday. I hope we do sign some quality players before the transfer window close. At. Least we all can hope

26 Aug 2010 09:37:23
What is all this recent talk about british players for LFC. They are carp period. Foreigners have more skill, technical ability and aptitude. The problem is that when Liverpool have bought foreign players - they are always mediocre at best. Until we don't re-address the balance and start buying some foreign quality like Chelsea, City, Arsenal etc. Forget 4th spot let alone the title. Liverpool supporter but sick of all this talk about BRITISH players!

What is it all coming to? Do liverpool have no pulling power at all? How can fulham sign salcido and we get Konchesky? (whats wrong with kelly at left back?) WTF? ? Aquilani out! mascherano out!Kuyt out!what is going on? 2 weeks ago i thought our squad was looking ok but at the moment our team is looking ultra ordinary!

26 Aug 2010 09:20:13
Rumours
-Roy does not want any one from barca or inter for exchange.
-Kuyt wants to go as well. Roy is not so sure.
-lucas will stay. An offer from spain and one from south america was rejected.
-one premier league player is coming irrespective of what happens above.

I think :
- 4th place is almost impossible given the squads spurs and city have. even if we end up buying those players in dutch league, We are losing 2 very very good players that everybody seems to have taken for granted.

- Illusion

26 Aug 2010 09:18:43
And Messi is quoted as saying in the Daily Express: "Javier won't play for the club again, I can assure you of that, and I think the Liverpool coach knows that now.

"Javier's family are unhappy and the pressure of seeing that is making him depressed. Liverpool must act humanely and let him go."

lolololol. . . . . . . If Messi wants him so bad why doesn't he pay his transfer fee! I think old Javier needs to realise and remember how unhappy he was at West Ham and we rescued him and helped him to where he is today! As for acting humanely this agree with Messi. . so the reserves it is for JM until the end of his contract. . in fact the reserves to good for him. . send him to the Academy!

26 Aug 2010 09:09:24

Mascherano is a fat tw*t for not wanting to play for my beloved LFC. He is ungrateful for what LFC had done for him "SAVING HIM FROM WEST HAM", look at how he repays a club that millions would give their left nut to play for.

DON'T SELL HIM, PUT HIM IN THE SQAUD FOR THE REMAINDER OF HIS CONTRACT AND FINE HIM HIS WEEKLY WAGES EVERY WEEK UNTIL THE UNGRATEFUL TW*T NEEDS TO PLAY DUE TO NEEDING MONEY AND THEN FORCE HIM TO SIGN AN EXTENSION AND LET HIM ROT IN THE RESERVES…

26 Aug 2010 09:08:37

Why do I keep reading that kuyt is on his way out when roy has said no players will go to inter and again today said dirk is not for sale ? I think he can still do a job for us, just not on the wing, he's too slow and sloppy with touches.
After losing aqua, benayoun, cole for a few matches we need to bring in an attacking midfielder with premier experience. I always rated tuncay, whats his current situation?

26 Aug 2010 08:35:39
Anything over 10 mil for Kuyt, i'd take.

Now Inter are back in for Javier, that means the bidding now opens up higher.

I'd take Hleb and Caceras and 18 mil to be honest

Hleb adds depth and another winger, Caceras also adds depth specially for a competition like Europa League.

Left back - Koncheskey - 3-4 mil
Forward - Toinoven 9-12
Definsive Midfielder - Diarra 6
Forward - Cole 6 + add ons.
Winger - Doubtful we can get Young but the best we can chase, could see it being Ben Arfa

Still a 50/ 50 weather Kuyt will go, but him and Masch need to leave quick so we can get the money to spend.

Don't get me wrong, im not saying all these signings will happen, but there what we need.

Ed. thoughts?

{Editor's Note: I would really begin to worry if we ended up with Ben Arfa. Sylvain Marveaux was linked with Chelsea and interest ghas cooled - with a year left on his contract, Rennes may listen to a reasonable offer - but this is my opinion rather thane anything I have heard.}

26 Aug 2010 08:27:28

Just a quick mention about Mascherano @ Kuyt and there possible sales. Amazing that when Rafa was in charge Masc was valued at 50 mill, and now a year later he wants him for 20! Kuyt tries his best but not good enough. if we can get a good fee sell him push Johnson to right mid and Kelly to full back. If players don't want to play for the mighty reds get rid of them.

Always LFC

26 Aug 2010 07:51:57

Here we go again like usuall l.f.c. linked with every player under sun lets face it we have no money so we can't buy and another thing wer in turkey with out gerrard torres jova agger macha wat the hell is going on at liverpool looks like we lose there season allmost over again why can't we sign some quialty winger and a good striker and a decent midfield player jobs a good1 roy no more old boyz plzzzzzz roy ur makeing us fans bleed

(((Who ever buys Liverpool i just hope it's not a sugar daddy like ManC have, someone that goes out and buys all the worlds best players and we win every trophy possible, i would rather we built our team slowly over a number of years and. . .OH who the f*ck am i trying to kid? I hope he's the richest bloke in the world, buys the best players and makes us the most succesful club in the world! ! ! )))

=> Whoever wrote this is obviously not a FOOTBALL fan. Check LEGENDS like Shankly, Clough, Ferguson, Wenger etc. They never spent big. They built a fantastic base through youngsters. . who Liverpool have (Shelvey, Pacheco, Martin, Sterling, Robinson, Gulaci, Suso, Mavinga, Dalle Valle, Amoo, Ince, Darby, Wisdom, Doady and others). .Buying players for Liverpool is easy! You look at Chelsea and then you compare! If you have money, there are players like Agger and Skrtel might be used as backups and Poulsen, Lucas, Maxi, Aurelio, Kuyt may be gone, but you have a good base of players to compete. I know there is a hype for Turan and people say yeah may be, but honestly, I watched Adam Johnson, Albrieghton, Lennon, Milner, C.Ron, Quresma run at people and work their magic. We have Joe Cole to do it, but honestly. . Arda Turan is the real Deal and work his magic in this team. Can you imagine a team with Cole, Turan, Gerrard, Pacheco in the midfield. .(I was hoping for Aqua, who by the way could run all over ManCity. cough cough. .Lucas was and IS HORRIBLE, so if you are really a fan of Liverpool FC then you watch each and every game and I, unless I'm watching another team, can only say Lucas is not good enough and is probably as overhyped as other poor players that have passed through!. We all want a billionaire owner and hopefully its Sheikh Mohammed, because of his love for the club. The main reason is that he would build a 80,000 seat stadium that will allow 'Pool to raise money. He would also get us huge global appeal (we already do) by allowing us to play pre-seasons in Dubai, China, India, Austrailia, North America etc! like we did last year.

We need a billionaire for that "just in case" moment and that's it, not to buy trophies and leave us in debt

SIM THE RED {editor's note - have you ever checked out relative spending? Ferguson has ALWAYS spent relatively large amounts to win things, even at Aberdeen he spent big money for the club. It is only the last couple of years that he hasn't been spending big money. Clough, Shanks, Paisley were not afraid to spend big either, nor was Wenger when the money was there. I don't mind the club spending big, so long as it earns its own money rather than being given it by a sugar daddy.}

We must snap up some propa players like da bomb

Beckford kidda

What? as opposed to selling our propa players and trying to fill the gap with the next best thing? Selling Masch now is a disaster. We should keep him until Jan to do a job for us. after this tough start we have about 6-8 games where we should take maximum points and be in a good position for the second half of the season. selling Masch now means kissing a top 4 spot goodbye - and if we don't know that Roy does, which is why he wants to keep him.

Jose Mourinho says he would consider managing Everton but he'd never manage Liverpool.

The Real Madrid boss has no intentions of returning to England for some time as he's only just started his new job in Spain, but even so, he was asked about English clubs during a recent interview.

"Manchester United would be a great challenge for me, " said the Special One. "But Liverpool is not the club for me. I know why, but I cannot tell you.

"Tottenham, Everton. . Arsenal maybe. These are all fine clubs with very good managers."

> Does anyone know what he means by "But Liverpool is not the club for me. I know why, but I cannot tell you?" I can only assume the club is being liquidated slowly by design by some very powerful people involved. Corruption at Anfield! Worrying times :(

Daniel Son

Think about it. . he'd rather go to everton or spurs. . this is what i've been saying all along. . we are being asset stripped now! torres had a bad world cup and had an injury hence no sale. . but what about Aqua man. . first year in the prem (how many years was drogba, henry etc etc s* t for) and he's being sold even though because of injury he never really got a chance in the fastest paced league in the world! and yet nr the end he was starting to show what he is. . . liverpool fans watch him this year for juv. . then answer why he's being sold after no chance what soever. .

Why does everyone want these elaborate signings like Ben Arfa and Ruiz? These are the sort of signings Rafa made that got us in this mess. Babel, N'Gog, Lucas, Riera, Insua, Dossena, Mark Gonzales, Kromkamp, etc. . All capable of playing well on their day, but far too inconsistent. This is what our team is made up of, inconsistent players who you cannot rely on to turn in a performance. I trust Roy to make some decent signings which will give us some depth and stability.

Okay so why do people keep saying the likes of toivonen and Hatem Ben Arfa and Bryan Ruiz and all the other players we are supposedly signing!. .look i wish for all these to sign but we have got to be realistic. When last have liverpool signed anyone close to the transfer deadline. Hopefully its different under Roy Hodgson but its just wishful thinking. Improvements are vastly needed around the squad. I know this is a rumours site and all but some of them are ridiculous!. i hope we get a left back and a striker. But i have a gut feeling a left back will be the only one to come in and Roy will wait untill January if we are struggling to get a striker. With new owners that looks inevitable. Thanks for reading. .Hugh. . .

I don't understand why we don't look at the likes of Defoe i know it would be hard now coz Totenham are in the Grp Stages of CL now but he has always been a natural goal scorer yet i don't ever remember us being linked with him.

To the guy that wrote this,
25 Aug 2010 18:57:18There is going to be no takeover. H&G are negotiating a refinancing package with Barclays Capital. This is a nightmare

the banks will not support this ludicrous proposal. H&G are finished as are their sports franchises. hence the reason why the texas rangers and montreal canadiens were sold. the 2 cowboys couldnt afford to keep them. same situation with liverpool, they need to sell before the bank forecloses on its loan then they really will have nothing. the bank is hardly going to give any more time or money to keep 2 people, who are completely out of their depth, in business. how do we know your not one of those marketing people you keep mentioning only on here to spread lies? its a rumour and banter website mate not a rubbish and lies site. go spurt your crap to the scummy blues and mancs, fella.

To the guy that wrote this,
25 Aug 2010 21:45:40. I saw Degen play with BSC YB the other night and he looked fantastic. He even played decent with us.

thats not philip degen that's david, his twin brother. philip is on loan in stuttgart while david plays for young boys. note david ( young boys ) is a winger while philip ( stuttgart ) is a full back.

If there is a press conference on friday, it will NOT be held to announce ben arfa or possible takeover, it will be held to discuss either the match on thursday against trabzonspor or the match on sunday against west brom. any new signings will be announced closer to deadline day 30/ 31 august, by which time, masch will have been sold which frees up funds for those new signings. watch with excitement liverpool fans, this coming week may well include an unexpected twist. we all know, as well as roy, we need a striker, so a striker will arrive, don't be fooled by what you read in the news and on unreliable websites. hes already been chosen and is waiting to sign the paperwork as soon as masch leaves. not toivonen, nor cole, ruiz, gomes or ben arfa, think bigger. this is as exciting as it gets lads, expect wonderful things to happen within the next few months. top 4 finish by may my friends, guaranteed! keep the faith YNWA!
