I'm going to get ripped apart for this but I don't care, I doubt you will find many fans who go the games having a real pop at Suarez only ones the who form an opinion based on what the media tells them and what they think other people want to hear. The fa is a disgrace and are a bunch of clowns

You mean the game's still on?
I've been filling up my nuclear bunker with Pot Noodles and Dandelion & Burdock, ready for the collapse of mankind in the face of this murderous attack of flesh eating zombies this week.
I'm not coming out until the Dalai Lama has declared it safe to do so.
The Juicer

Don't worry guys, I have spent the last 4 days making us tinfoil hats! I have tinfoil hats for all. I have even done a basketball styled tinfoil cap for all you cool kids. Now we will be able to form opinions without the media using those dammed satellites and beaming messages into our soft skulls.

Suarez is the disgrace and clown.

He brings this s*** to the club. The fans deserve better than this.

And you think the only fans who count are the quiet 40k fans who go to Anfield?

Good luck against Manchester United with only 40k fans!

What goes round comes round lfc were top dogs once like man u now but no other club has had to deal with what lfc have had to endure, lfc will raise again but now is the time to put in place what we have learnt. best wishes to fsg ynwa. red mick tag.

Hi eds if we fail to get eriksen, then which attackng midfilder we like to sign?hernanes of lazio have a great season and recently have partnership with oscar in internatinal stage. age 27, so can be good replacement of gerrad. we have any interest in him? {Ed002's Note - The priority is defence.}

Henrick mikatoryian from shaktor Donetsk is being targeted. Eriksen interest has ended.

I am a little tired with Suarez letting us down. But the question I ask is this - the ref sees the incident and the worst outcome is red card, 3 match ban and LFC lose 2-1. The ref doesn't see it and LFC lose a player for 10 games. Surely they have to look at incidents a bit like rugby league now and if they think a decision deserves more than the penalty they can impose at the time I. e sending off then they go on report. At least it is a level playing field. Worst case scenario we will get Steve g running after the ref saying didn't you see that? The bloody persons just bite him again!

Sorry, you are wrong. Any ref who sees that incident in full would issue a straight red.
Once a red is issued, the punishment is up to the FA. It is not a maximum of 3 games. Where that nonsense has come from I have no idea.

27 Apr 2013 06:49:04
The red is not a maximum of three games. Didn't Hazard get six (or was it seven) games after the Ref showed him red?

26 Apr 2013 22:35:15
Hi eds. not sure if this is right but failure to get into Europe means we gain entry into carling cup rnd 2?if so rnd 2and 3 may be included in suerez ban as they are both played before mid sept hence only missing 4 prem games ynwa {Ed002's Note - When the fixtures are release you will be able to consider it.}

26 Apr 2013 22:33:35
I want to get the opinion of editors and every one else on this;

I for one think spending 20mil every season will not get us no where near where we want to be in the coming 3 or 4 seasons. Even after such period of time, we can only get there if the money is spent wisely. I like Rodgers and his philosophy but when you see Allen, Borini, Sturridge and countinio all together, and what they have contributed this season, they don't look like £45 mil talent.

so my preference will be to start major re-building like Athletico madrid did. they sold Aguero, the Gea and Folrlan. and money spent well on falcao, arda turan, diego and Adrian. All these players were bought with out champions league football.

So having this in mind, Suarez, Skrtel, and Reina should be sold and the money generated from those sales should be enough to start rebuilding. together with what ever budget the owners provide.

so in your opinion do you think selling these players will benefit the club? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has done that. Where have you been?}

Kenny did that but Rodgers isn't obviously happy with many of those players. it seems like he is playing most of them because he doesn't have a better option not because he is happy to have them in his top 11.
with the three players I mentioned
Suarez's sell may become inevitable
Carragher is leaving
Skrtel and Coates are likely to be sold because that are not happy.
And if there is a better time for Reina to leave, it should be now.

so that will leave us with needing major re-enforcement in the heart of the defense, a new goal keeper, a different way of attacking.
and our midfield yet asks for a lot of improvement.
i think that asks for a major rebuilding

Yes ed but the young preferably english "just getting into the national team" players like hendo and co didn't work and they effectively wasted our equity

26 Apr 2013 22:28:06
Time to get away with the Suarez talk, annoyed he got a 10 match ban but there's nothing we can do now.
Anyway I was wondering has there ever been a poll/list of the best fans in the world? Would love to know if there is, just to see how high our fans are ranked on it. Would guess we are near the top as the only team I can see challenging the Liverpool fans is the fans of my beloved Ireland! Two of the proudest moments of my life is hearing the sound of You'll Never Walk Alone surround Anfield and feel the passion flowing and hearing The Fields of Athenry ringing around the Aviva in Dublin (or Poland!). Never really had as much passion for International football as I did club football but it's hard not to love International football now when your from Ireland! Just as proud to be an Ireland fan as I am a Liverpool fan and Euro 2012 was a proud moment to be an Ireland fan. 4-0 down to Spain and still singing! Similar to Istanbul 2005, 3-0 down to Milan and history was made!
Yes so anyone know of a list or poll (preferably recently) of the best fans?
Cheers lads feel free to comment!
LS7.

Forgot to add my views may be just a little bit biased but that just applies for me!
LS7.

N. ireland fans would be up there, great fans who follow the team everywhere even though they are usually on the end of a defeat, they sing there hearts out aswell, and don't forget arsenal, they havnt won anything in almost 9 years yet they fill the emirates every week and as much has I hate to say it Man United have decent fans aswell

26 Apr 2013 22:03:35
Hey ed's what are the clubs plans for Connor coady and joao Carlos teixeria next season. Are they going to be promoted to the first team or are they going out on loan. {Ed002's Note - It will be too early to rally trying to sort out loans just yet.}

26 Apr 2013 21:46:52
just watched the u21's at West Ham, we were bloody awful, a couple of players busting a gut, that's it, really poor, couldn't score if they played all night, sound familiar?

What score did it finish lad?

But they did score

You watch one game and you think you know them? They had an off night get over it they all do for the most part they've been very consistent and scoring as well so its unfair to judge them on one game and say its all going to the dogs.

A team missing Suso, Wisdom, McLaughlin, Coady, Ibe and Coady. So a lot of U18s thrown in at a tough place to go, not that bad

26 Apr 2013 21:40:25
hiya eds just wandering does anyone agree that the suarez ban could have the adverse effect on the team. Before we bought carroll everybody thought he was the next big thing in an england shirt the same with sturridge, if these two players were offered to teams as their main forward line 12 months ago there would have been a few takers, now we have the opportunity to see if they really could play together and imagine if they did gel and suarez comes back after his ban it would be like a 6o million pound signing to add to these two plus couthino gerrard stirling and lucas and that's without spending a penny. There would be no europa league to worry about because I don't really think we are aiming for that this season which I wouldn't mind missing out on. There would be a full week to train and get the team ready for the weekend game with no distractions. You never know.

26 Apr 2013 21:35:32
All eyes will be on sturridge and he will have to step up and prove he is good enough.
That can only be a good thing in my opinion. He seems to perform better when he has something to prove.
One good thing in this whole mess is that other players will have to step it up a notch to compensate for the loss. Also means the opposition will have no idea who to look out for because any one of our forward players has it in them to dominate a game when you take out the main attraction.

Suarez is doing the right thing for the club by not appealing, still think 10 games is harsh but appealing would only cause more trouble for the club an they would prob have jumped at the chance to increase the ban. Sturridge I think will step up and be superb for us until the end of the season, just the run he needs I think. Let's move on from this, see how the season ends, look forward to the summer transfer window, and look forward to what 13 / 14 will bring us.

Super

26 Apr 2013 20:26:07
Firstly I'm a massive Lfc & Suarez fan.

I think 10 games is spot on. What he did is beyond football, a bad tackle whether mis timed or malicious is part of the act of football, spitting & biting has no place.

Whilst his previous biting at Ajax & the more recent racism have apparently not formed part of their decision making in civi street you commit a crime once & then you re affend you will receive a bigger conviction.

Talk of terry & Defoe incidents is the inconsistencies that need to be addressed going forward.

Whilst we marvel at Suarez he has let himself & our great club down, plus let's not forget personally he could have been player of the year or EPL top goalscorer.

We all hold our breathe now over the summer that he doesn't say or do anything further. He will get asked in South America about the incident & the ban. I like ed02 idea re some sort of Lfc rep to shadow him & ban him from any interviews.

The club & particularly BR now need to stop any further comments & deal with it internally & try & move on from the sorry incident ASAP.

Jimbob

Sorry but a malicious tackle does not belong on a football pitch. A hard tackle yes but def not a tackle with intent to hurt.

Jesus inglethope destroying the u21.

Agree, things were looking very good but have gone down hill rapidly since his involvement.

I think you're forgetting the large amount of injuries at the moment. McLaughlin, Suso, Ibe, Smith, Coady all missing. Not forgetting Robinson and Ngoo out on loan who were important in the team.

How blind are you guys? Our U21's have gone downhill because all the best senior players who should be there like Suso, Sterling, Ngoo, Robinson etc are either out on loan or playing for the first team already!

Those players haven't played 90% of the season, the loan players weren't important players including ngoo. They have been poor for weeks 5 or 6 games now. The senior players have been playing lately shelvey, sterling, suso & wisdom it's not been good enough

26 Apr 2013 18:52:25
Anyone know where I can watch the U-21's now online? I don't have LFC TV and its not been shown on the First Row sports.

The real AG

Hi best way is to do what I did get sky freesat for a one off fee and never pay again, lfc tv on all day do re runs of all the matches -SALLY-

26 Apr 2013 18:37:02
hey guys, now with suarez out really looking forward to see what sturridge has up his sleeve as the main man. can he handle the pressure. he has got an abundance of talent and can be the winner coming out of this suarez saga. hope he does well against the toons. also hope some of the youngsters get a chance. I predict a win for us tomorrow.

26 Apr 2013 21:11:11
Sturridge's got nothing up his sleeves other than arms.

26 Apr 2013 18:11:24
at least with suarez not appealing it will give him the rest he needs, and I for one will be putting money on him to be the leading scorer next season, the man is jaded and by giving him the ban will mean he gets the rest he needs, because he has not had one single rest since the copa america when he 1st joined us, I hope he stays and proves everyone wrong by becoming the player of the season thext season and the golden boot he would have won this season

mickey b

Did he not get a rest around Feb last year?

The Irish Rover

He also got a long rest just before he joined us as well.
Maybe a winter break is a good idea after all. Suarez has an extended break every year and you can't fault his talent.

MIKEY

Just wondering if they are mirror ghost or plain common carp BR bought

26 Apr 2013 17:51:09
It will be good to see how the team play without Suarez.

Will either show how much we rely on him or that we can cope without him.

We will know what life would be like without our main man.

26 Apr 2013 17:24:46
Hello fellow kopites, hope eveyone is doing is doing ok. Eventhough with suarez' ban is disturbing, I think it will also help the manager and his coaches to access the team well in the tranfer season.
It wl make them aware of the condition of the team if suarez is ot in there. In addition, it wl make them sign other players in his position who are also good so that if it becomes inevitable for his departure at anytime, we wouldn't need to make a panic buy.
Fellow kopites, let's not make this affect stadium attendance, singing during games and the likes. Most of you are fortunate enough to go watch games, some of us in the other hand even find it hard to have access to lfc tv to watch even dead matches. But for you, its easy.
Lets just keep our calm and hope the other players have their opportunities and utilise them well.
I rest my case.

Cheers

Ahoy - today I am 40 if I was born one day earlier I would share my day with Tchaikovsky and Oliver Cromwell, one day later and I would share with former US President Ulysses Grant and pioneer of the code that bears his name, Samuel Morse all historical greats, but the 26th is fine as I share it with Jon from S Club 7 and we all know " there ain't no party like an S Club party"

In the unlikely event that P Reina does leave, how about a look at Fraser Forster from Celtic?

Finally the club have done the right thing, hopefully now we can move on. After the embarassing interviews given by Rodgers and Reina, making out Luis was some how hard done by. The statement was right, and it was the correct step to take. There ofcourse may be action taken against Pepe and Rodgers though, so it could drag on a while longer yet.

Smithy

I agree with accepting the ban but not the comments on Reina and Rodgers. I've watched the Rodgers interview a couple of times and I can't see where people are coming from saying its cringy etc.

He's hard done by when the PM finds it necessary to stick his vote-seeking oar in. You tire of seeing & hearing politicians fail to answer proper direct issues by giving the old line "I cannot comment on a particular case. ".
Yet he doesn't mind commenting on this one.
Hey up there Dave, didn't you see the picture of Suarez today wearing a hoody?
What about hugging that hoody then?

How much would feyenoord expect for de vrij what's there valuation {Ed002's Note - I really don't want to get in to the money.}

Don't get to excited, 3 S, s leaving in the summer

Ok then would he be in our price range? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool decided he was too expensive to chase after any longer.}

Good decision not to appeal. Let's try to move on, finish the season strong and look forward to a hopefully very exciting summer!

I'm pretty worried that we've fallen way behind the top 4 clubs, with little chance of catching up anytime soon. We need to spend big just to close the gap, but you can garuntee that the top 4 will all splash the cash and get even stronger. so how do we close the gap and catch up with those above, without the financial rewards that the champions league bring?. If the reports of the manager only having very limited resources to work with are true, then I can see next season being a struggle too.

Splashing cash doesn't mean getting stronger.
derryred

Splashing cash does mean we will get closer to the top. there is a reason barca/bayern/mandrid/manc/manu ect ect are on the top. money. our problem is we don't spend the little money we have wisely. money is everything in the past teams had players coming through now the big clubs are buying them 16/17 with only 1 reason to save (here is that ugly word again)money

We have spent plenty over the last couple of seasons. In fact if you scroll down you will be able to see countless posts from countless fans of lists of "deadwood" the club has bought over the years with their prices next to them.

Hi ed's much of the media are reporting that the manager has only got £20m to spend, in your opinion is that an accurate figure or just pure guess work. {Ed002's Note - Done to death already.}

Hello Eds,
is it true Ooredoo (formerly Qatar Telecom) is interested in buying naming rights for Anfield?
some paper named AlJazera reporting it. {Ed002's Note - Don't worry about it just yet.}

I can't get sleep thinking about it.

Hey eds, where do you think de Vrij will will most likely end up after the summer? {Ed002's Note - He may well stay where he is.}

26 Apr 2013 15:43:30
I must admit, I feel bad for you Brits! Not a personal thing, but why on earth would the Prime Minister of your country have to comment on an incident in an otherwise insignificant sporting event? The British media is a circus, as we all know, but bringing in a politician's opinion on sporting events is ridiculous. Suarez nibbled on a guys arm, and the tv is acting like it was a terrorist attack. Everybody must be bored in England, because in any other country this would barely make the news.

Have to agree about the media.
not only that. they all seem to be saints and never did a bad turn to anyone.
Bless them and their hearts of gold.

Just surprised that Rodgers is not claiming Suarez was incensed at the cost of Maggie's funeral, so it was understandable he just had to bite someone!

Sorry, but BRs latest outburst looks very much like an attempt to claim a conspiracy as his defence for Suarez leaving in the summer. Suggests to me the guy is trying to protect himself against the coming insults. Doesn't indicate a lot of security.

He had an opinion because someone asked him whilst he was being interviewed about something else, and he gave his opinion. I don't love the guy but he did not call a press conferense or go to an interview for the purpose of talking about it, it was a comment passed whilst talking about something else

The Suarez ban is obviously part of a wider conspiracy by the FA as they seek to end Liverpool's relentless domination of seventh place :-]

26 Apr 2013 15:34:49
A couple of players I have seen play this season are Gary Hooper and Wilfried Bony, both seem like goalscorers with a developing reputation and both are the right side of 25. Have any scouts from Liverpool ever watched them play and if we are not interested is there a reason why they have been overlooked? {Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

26 Apr 2013 15:24:32
Eds to what extent do you believe that Suarez's ban, considering it extends until October next season, will affect Rodgers' plans for a new striker? {Ed002's Note - What plans for a new striker?}

26 Apr 2013 15:08:25
Hi Eds, is there any truth in the news regarding a Qatari sponsorship deal which includes naming rights for the stadium? Surely that would significantly boost our income and what effect would that have on us regarding ffp? {Ed002's Note - There is nothing right now.}

26 Apr 2013 14:51:54
Hai Ed Pls Post this.

Every Time I hear here our defence have let down. we are leaking goals. can't defend set piece, we need 3 CB, skertel on his way out.
blah blah blah.

How is this possible. skertel and agger were outstanding last seaosn. skertel being the stand out player.

How can someone be dumb and stuppid over night?

If so, what's the job of a coach or manger?

are they suppose to train them and work on their possitives.

or we should wait till the window opens and sell them?

skertel and agger has sepnd almost 5 years with Liverpool.

How can they forget their game?

whats actually the coach do in training?

Whole world knows we are awful in defending set piece. Is Br watching it?

A good manager gets the best from an average player.

Y is Br not changing the formation?

David luiz was a CB, plays well in Midfield.
Phil Johns is a CB plays in Midfield.

Guys expecting your views omn this.

Are you expecting Skrtel to play a midfield role? Because I'm sure Mr. Rodgers would rate him far less in midfield than he already rates him in defense.

26 Apr 2013 15:36:21
Harry Scousser mate the mind set of fans have completely changed, you can't say anything to rodgers, 7-8th is acceptable as champions league is no use because we can't win it, give Rodgers atleast 5 years to build his team, it doesn't matter how hasbeens he continues buying, when we win, rodgers is one of the best manager aka ferguson, when we lose, players let rodgers down instead of rodgers mistake, and new one which is shock to me is every fan saying wait for transfer-market to open as if we are chelsea or city!

So the point of this message is to play a center half in midfield? Haha

Just what is your problem Harry? You started off wanting the manager and Allen Borini out, then began saying BR is the way forward and now goes back to 'It's BR who is the problem'.

Are you having that special time of the month?

The real AG

As a non Liverpool supporter, I think you aren't thinking about what you're saying. Luiz can play DM as Chelsea has Ivan, Terry and Cahill who are also quality CB's. Ake is 5th choice and very much a prospect for the future.

If Liverpool push Agger forward then they have Carra and Skrtyl as the other established CB's. Carra can't play ever week so having all 3 play in a single game is not logical incase of an injury picked up. Your depth in the position isn't as strong. Coates is your 4th option but hasn't had a decent run of games and his form has been effected and his style/speed does not suit the way BR wants to play.

Man Utd depth is stronger than both Chelsea and Liverpool so it's no wonder he gets played in the middle, although if you followed football, you'd know Phil Jones is seen to have the ability to play in the middle on a consistent basis.

1. "What does the coach do in training?"

I'd honestly love to hear you answer this question yourself? What does the coach do? How much prep is put into games? Etc.

Melbourne CFC

We played alpt more defensive under kenny, but now we are playing more attacking and more opem so we score a load but now we are conceding alot, skrtel makes too many mistakes only he can be blamed for giving the ball away

Harry

You need to get a Job or something

Become a gigolo

You have too much free time

Harry, you said that Chelsea have pushed Luiz forward and United push Jones forward. Are you suggesting we should push Skrtel forward? Seriously? The reason the other 2 are capable of playing in midfield is because they are very good ball playing footballers. Skrtel is not in the same league as those 2 when it comes to that style. Perhaps you should take Skrtel for what he is, an ok centre half who had a good season and a half at Liverpool but doesn't suit Rodgers style.

People are saying that Rodgers will only be given £20m to spend this summer. I think that's a load of rubbish.
He was given around £50m this season (Allen (£15m), Borini (£10m), Assaidi (£3m), Yesil (£1m), Sturridge (£12m), Coutinho (£8m)) - and I believe that the owners hope that the club will push harder for a top four finish next season so surely we will be backed further.

Also we will need to replace our defensive rock of the last decade or so in Carragher and his significant wages will be freed up to sign a good replacement.

Rodgers has said he wants two or three top signings this summer as it's quality not quantity that is his priority in the coming window. I hope the owners back him with these signings (a Carragher replacement, a new midfielder and a forward) and will fund moves for replacements for departing players (Skrtel, Carroll, Shelvey? etc) with the fees we recieve from them.

FranklyMrShankly

26 Apr 2013 15:59:24
Rodgers has spent 60M+ on players, and its well known that from now any sales will need to be generated by selling players, infact owners didn't won't to release money for Coutinho but Rodgers promise them top4 was achievable at that time as we were only 4 points away from top4, and added sturidge but Rodgers failed, and owners were not happy with rodgers, so they revamped our systeam by bringing people who can have their say when comes to buying or selling players including rodgers.

The problem is that FSG have continuously invested in the club to a point where it is making losses each month, this can clearly not continue. They would have hoped that the previous £150m+ would have been spent more wisely and therefore another load of cash would not be needed right now. As things stand, surely Lfc need to stop spending money they don't have and look towards self-sufficiency. This means a more conservative level of investment (net spend) this summer than in previous windows.

26 Apr 2013 14:43:13
Fsg out! And take your failed policies with you!

Couldn't agree more! how could you give someone that you didn't want there in the first place so much money and then when you get your man for the job nothing really! dosent make sense! why do you sell the club from americans to americans! I think this club needs an arab or someone that rich to buy this club to get back! just think if city owner bought us instead of hicks and gillett

Two incredibly embarrassing posts. But to make myself feel better I'm going to pretend it's a spoof. ah that's better, very funny guys!

26 Apr 2013 14:40:04
If Liverpool loan luis suarez to a championship side nxt season then FA have any right to stop this loan. By sending him to loan the ban will passed more fast as championship season starts before pl and comparitavly more fixutures are played in championship during same time. {Ed002's Note - A whole season loan or just to Christmas so he is back for the January?}

No, just a 6 game loan ed! Keep up. Lol

The Irish Rover

This would no doubt help improve PR at the club!

Is there not any possibility like we send morgan on loan for the month of january.

Lol

that would be a good little trick by the club.

send him on an 2month loan any loan with a recall clause.

Make it good for the club he is loaned to by paying suarez full wages and adding a payment to the club he is loaned to if/when he is recalled early. !

football world won't like it but, nothing they can do about it totaly legal!

and he will then he'll be back by mid September.!

Do you think Liverpool will sign another forward this summer, what with Suarez missing the start of next season and the fact that we are currently short up front anyway (we only have Sturridge available for the next game)?

Mozzer

26 Apr 2013 14:35:20
Reds to sign Zelig Mcaldarin, (youngster going great guns at wolves)
wednesfield wolf

26 Apr 2013 14:31:58
So that's clear.
Suarez won't appeal against the Ban and will serve the Ban.
Now the big question Is he moving or will be a Liverpool player come next seaosn.
BR has a big big decision to make.
Replacing him will be extreamly difficult since, Liverpool needs an excellent new season.
He cannot have anymore excuses this time around.

If he decides to sell him. He might have to bring 2 aditional players along with the other pplayers he might bring in. and then they will have to settle in and bang in goals.

If he keeps him, he might still have tio bring another striker, because First 6 games would be massive for us in challenging for Top 4.

Owners will not accept anything less than a Top4 next seaosn.

26 Apr 2013 16:00:25
you know the owners then?

Sometimes you need to step back and ask yourself why do you have such a negative look harry. that's no way to live. being a football fan is about enjoying the highs and getting through the lows. your negativity is quite frankly unwelcome

Harry who's your inside man?

26 Apr 2013 14:25:32
Any news on Downing leaving in the summer?

26 Apr 2013 14:10:55
Quick question for people regarding football for a change, would any of you take Scott Sinclair on loan next season, i'd imagine City quite rightly don't see us as rivals so they could be open to the idea. Plus he did play well under Rodgers last season.

Personally wouldn't be my first choice but would be a good squad player offering more than downing attacking wise.

always a red

26 Apr 2013 14:32:55
Possible, 1. because he is a swansea player 2. he would be cheap

Would rather tello or something but yeah I wouldn't mind him rather buy then loan incase he impresses

No. He is not appreciably better than what we have and would reduce the opportunities for our own young players to build their skill and experience - why help City build an established player when we have our own?

That just goes to show how FSG managed to subdue our expectations.

Ozone

Ozone, how is the views of a poster a reflection on the whole LFC fanbase?

Still bleating about FSG out I see. Grow up man.

The real AG

Keep it up Ozone

You're right man!

They are still spending a fortune, they are trying to put a plan in place to set the club up for a strong future, what more do you want from owners? They are not to blame for the squad or the football, both of which I think are building well if not having a fair way to go still. The on field antics they have had to deal with have been quite ridiculous on top of the off field. Like no other club in the UK over that period despite Chelsea giving it a go. Don't hate the owners because you are disappointed in our league position. Andy K

Hi Eds,

Just a quick question, I have searched and been unable to find anything, the 10 games are for domestic 1st team football, now IF Suarez is to stay at Liverpool, he is going to be way off match fitness by the time he is allowed to play again, I know he will have games for Uruguay during this time, but would he be eligible to play for the reserves when he comes back from Uruguay to keep up some, even if it is of a lower standard, match fitness?

Cheers,
YNWA
JFT96
WelshScouse {Ed002's Note - No.}

Why will he be so far off match fitness? he has a summer comp for Uruguay and will no doubt play in the pre-season - 6 weeks hard work in training and he should be (more or less) ready to play

You openly get sharp by playing in competive matches

My point is that he shouldn't lose that much sharpness - it's not like he's injured and can't do anything to stop his form sliding. Within one or two matches he should be at his normal level - maybe straight away considering how fired up and ready to prove himself he'll need to be

Once again samsung commenting on yet another post and knowing nothing,
Why are players who are out the team for ages who then come back without match fitness? Maybe it could be cause they are not playing 'Matches'

Once again no-named poster, if you actually read what is being said I'm pointing out that he isn't going that long without matches. And you tell me when a decent player goes that long without matches and isn't injured? The only one I can think of is Sneijder, who hit the ground running straight away

26 Apr 2013 14:08:39
Can't Liverpool simply promise Suarez to play with a muzzle on?

26 Apr 2013 14:07:57
I have been a Liverpool fan for nearly 40 years, I've seen good times and bad times, but I must say that the current manager we have is totally clueless, in my eyes we should have appointed buck rodgers. Henderson. allen. borini. these players were not cheap. if these players in br eyes were players he could see us getting cl football then why the likes of man u. man c. chelsea. did not go for them, just proves that he is s. e, I will always be a Liverpool fan maybe not a happy 1, whilst BR is manager then all we can accept is mid table year in year out.

26 Apr 2013 14:35:34
Relax. you are fortunate you have seen good times of Liverpool and following them from past 40 years.
I have seen only a major CL lifted 8 years ago.
If BR could get rid of some flops with us and bring in some rela quality players.
We can see Liverpool atleast playing in CL next seaosn.

So am I to assume by your post we should only go after players that interest Manchester United? Rodgers inherited Henderson, Allen was our best player early on in the season but was playing with an injury, Borini has been injured and played out of position I think rodgers is doing a good job on far smaller budget than other managers have managed. I have been a Liverpool supporter all my life from when Phil Taylor was manager and I have never critisised a Liverpool manager or player (I came close when Roy was in charge) I suggest you support or find an easy option down the east lancs

If you've been such a fan for 40 years, you'd have thought that you knew that our current manager didn't buy Hendo.

But please, enlighten us, what is your solution? How exactly can our manager attract the players that Chelsea, United and City go for when all clubs are richer and play in the CL? Is he just meant to kidnap them?

And City didn't go for Allen, but they went for Scott Sinclair, and a lot of Swansea fans rated Allen higher than Sinclair (although comparisons are quite unfair for such different players). So basically, your argument makes no sense on many levels

Why did Rogers buy Henderson? {Ed023's Note - He didn't, Kenny Dalglish did.}

Lool your post is clueless. Henderson was not bought by BR so that ones out the window. Borini has played around 10 games and has been suffering from constant injuries. Allen carried us at the start of the season and then also suffered with injuries.

What do you suggest we do then? Or is all you can do is moan? What manager should we get then? What players that are available and within a reasonable price range would you buy? Please enlighten me considering all you do and the rest of you bitchy fans do is moan give us your wisdom?

Lets go buy tons of strikers with ridiculous wages and ignore out main problem (defence) genius!

I was trying to be a smart arse by saying did Rogers by Henderson because the first poster made out as if he did thanks ed023 for making me look like a mug haha lol

Well Suarez hasn't appealed the ban. Do you think this the right decision Ed and do you think he's just had enough an wants to leave the coutry asap and start somewhere fresh? {Ed002's Note - It is the right thing to do.}

It is the right thing to do just do it and move on now let the club decide what is next for him

26 Apr 2013 13:55:33
hi eds, I have just seen in a website that bercelona has offered tello+sanchez for suarez. also reported that due to financial problem they can not give any cash. but fsg needs cash but at last they want alex song+sanchez+jonathon dos santos. even it is reported that daniel ageer also included with suarez and bercelona need to blance all thing wihout cash. go Liverpool do not tyrn back the opportunity.

alex mann

I think your message is what you want not fsg want

Lol

Mate for barcelona to get Suarez and Agger we would need sanchez, thiago, dos santos, song and tello

can suarez appeal the 10 match ban? {Ed002's Note - He can effectively appeal 7 of the games.

26 Apr 2013 13:31:00
Now that I have your attention Ed02 there is another issue I would like to raise with you and anone else who would like to comment.
If the referee did decide on Sunday that he "did not see" the bite so that the FA could deal with it more severely, what are the consequences?
Should referees ignore certain things in order for more severe punishments to be handed out? This could lead to referees being seen as less necessary. A second yellow on Sunday would have been an inappropriate punishment but would probably have given Chelsea the three points they should have had (not necessarily deserved, mind you).
Would it not be better for referees to say in their reports that although they saw in an incident during the game they now feel the action they took was insufficient? This would have been fairer to Chelsea (and the game of Football) and would leave the FA with the licence to take action. It would also have allowed the FA to act on the McManaman tackle.
At the moment the rules seem pretty much "black and white" with little scope for leeway.

{Ed002's Note - That would not be the case that the referee would look to deliberately turn a blind eye. There is an "exceptional circumstances" rule where any punishment arising from the action of the referee can be increased - take Joey Barton as a recent example where the ban for violent conduct was increased from 3 games to 12.}

While running the risk of being told off for making comparisons Ed, and fully accepting that Suarez needed dealing with. Why didn't they apply the 'exceptional circumstance' to Defoe? Did it not exist in 2006? It could be that Defoe's was that sort of incident that saw the 'exceptional circumstance' caveat introduced. If that's the case, it would somewhat assuage one of my lingering points of ire. {Ed002's Note - I am sick of this subject, sorry.}

Guys, let's give the EDs a break from the Suarez saga. He has accepted the ban, there will be no appeal, therefore let's move on.

ps great work Ed 002, keep smiling

Hi eds, could you please tell me what you think about these players and if they could go to Liverpool as a potential replacement for Luis Suarez if he left a. Gonzalo Higuain. b. Mario Gomez. c. Edin Dzeko. d. Alvaro Negredo. e. Ezequiel Lavezzi. f. Stefan Kiessling. g. Jackson Martinez. Thanks and keep it up :) LFC13 {Ed002's Note - If you type each in to the search function I am sure you should get an answer on most.}

26 Apr 2013 13:11:49
Slight change if topic:

Buy out clauses - why don't we have them in England? Spain, Germany both have them. I look at the situation with Goetze. Munich met his buy out clause, no dramas, no underhand agent tactics, no emotion, no unsettled wife. All done above board.

Instead we have all the circus tricks etc just because a player wants to leave. {Ed002's Note - Goetze did not have a buy out clause but a release clause. Buy out clauses are very rare indeed.}

In Spain isn't it a condition of Spanish employment law? IE every job essentially has a compensation attached. Hence they are generally rediculously high. I may be way off! {Ed002's Note - No, it is nothing to do with employment law.}

Could you explain the difference between a buy out clause and a release clause are they much different? Help me out ed002 {Ed002's Note - The "buy out" clause is legally binding between a club and a player. The "buy out" is effectively what it says - a means for the player to buy himself out of the contract. As an example, if a player wishes to buy himself out of a contract, he pays the applicable FA the amount of the "buy out" clause effectively becoming a free agent. The problem is that in most cases a player would need to obtain that money from the buying club - and this is fraught with issues regarding "tapping up" and, of course, taxation as it can be seen as income for the player and would therefore be subject to income tax. There was a test case about the taxation issue in Spain about three years ago.

A "release clause" is far more common in that it gives a figure that the club would accept for the sale of a player to another club - but it is not legally binding. These are normally unreasonably high figures (Hulk at Porto for example) introduced to act as a deterrent for hostile bids - and even then the club could easily block a move. However, if a club does agree to match a release clause then the club would be obliged to ask the player if he is interested. Examples are Goetze who decide he wanted to move and Cavani who, regardless of two offers were made that matched or equated to his then "release clause" recognised Napoli did not sell and accepted a new package. Now of course Napoli say they will listen to offers above €70M.

There is then the becoming popular "termination clause" which is binding between the player and the club and if met would see an offer from anywhere accepted and the player given the opportunity to make a call on a move. This overcomes the issues associated with "buy out" clauses as the money would be paid by one club to another. This is what Malaga are trying to agree with Isco. Malaga are looking to have Isco sign a new long-term contract because they do fear a move for the player this month. Malaga wanted 21M euros and have now negotiated an increase in a termination clause to 42M euros (€35M for the transfer and €7M covering some other costs), using a pay rise to tempt the player to agree.

Now that you have raised the issue of clauses! :-). Can you tell how Suarez having a €40 million clause in his contract that allows clubs to speak to him gives him flexability but doesn't necessarily mean they have to offer that amount? Pleease!

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - It was simply a case of him being able to force Liverpool to allow him to speak to other sides whether they wanted to let him or not. It would be entirely unrelated to any subsequent transfer.}

Good man thanks appreciate it

People probably aren't going to believe me, but I have met Anthony Fry many times (though I don't wish to give away why). I can tell you that he is probably the most intelligent man I have ever met, and this is great news for all PL clubs. Yes, he did support United, but he will show complete unbias on any issue. A lot of sense is going to be shown, and supporters are going to find a refreshing change in this appointment.

No matter what way you look at it this season we ain't even close to top 4. If we don't get Europa than that's an epic failure considering the money Rodgers has spent.

We finished 8th under kenny and with the money he spent that must have been the biggest failure of then all time then eh?! It takes time for god sake leave him be and support the team for a change, try it, you might like it!

Ian the red

Kennys net spend was not excessive and he bought the only world class player we have in Suarez. He took us to Wembley 3 times in his forst season, and we won won one of the finals. He also gave us European football in his FIRST season back.

Not many managers could achieve what Kenny did, so please show some respect for one of our own, who has been a proud servant of our great club.

Do not forget that Kenny was NEVER involved in the amount paid for players. His role was to identify who he wanted, so don't blame him for paying over the odds, it wasnt his decision. Get over it please

Tel 1949

Was Suarez not coming anyway before Kenny was made boss?

The Irish Rover {Ed023's Note - Correct}

Tel, do not bleat on at me about having respect for kenny, there is nobody on this forum who respects kenny as much as I do! He did take us to wembley three times and I wanted him to have at least another season if not two! But the statement above me said rodgers performance this season has been poor and he spent 60 million, right or wrong? Yet rodgers is only seven points away from overhauling kennys points tally last season with one striker for most of the season and there is still four more games to go! We got into europe last season via league cup, we are talking about league position and at the minute rodgers is obe place better off with four games left! What made you think I was having a go at kenny? I was merely stating a point!

Anyone know if we're going to appeal or not guys?

26 Apr 2013 12:39:11
Being slightly negative. I've come to the conclusion that suarez has engineered the situation to leave Liverpool. after what he said to uraguan press. something he never retracted. And ayres recent hard line stance that we weren't going to sell him it seems to me what he did would make it impossible for us to keep him. he'd come out blah blah blah don't want to leave Liverpool. love for the club blah blah forced to leave bye fa blah blah. hence getting his move. always remember footballers are mercenaries have no loyalty but to themselves. Scouser john

I fully agree with you John.
Have the exact same feelings since Sunday. The first thing I thought about was that this was his last game for us.
But hey, the club is what we love and not just one player.
Good luck to him.

Stoffe

Let him go.

Last season he scored 8 goals, this season he's scored 30. We're no better off in the league and we've won one less pot and not qualified for Europe.

We can get better than Luis. All the talent in the world doesn't make up for being suspended.

'We can get better than Luis. All the talent in the world doesn't make up for being suspended. '

Such as who exactly?

Football has always been a team game.
There has only ever been a 1 man team once and that was Diego Maradonna.
Suarez in the stands is no use to us whatsoever.

But Liverpool over the last 10 years have been 1 or 2 man team.

Hi there Edds and fellow reds!

I need some clarification. I've been in discussion with friends at work, they are chelsea, Manchester United and gooners. They were teasing that LFC will be europeless next season and I am gutted about that but then someone said our only hope of Europa next season is that spurs get forth, chelsea 5th but they have to win Europa league and then the Europa qualifications is handed to 6th place as swansea are in due to capital 1 cup victory. Is that true or are we definatley out for next year?

Cheers el Nino

Literally I was saying the exact same thing today I would imagine this means 6th is Europa spot in this case? Ed02 do you know please? {Ed002's Note - No it does not. There is only an additional place allocated if the winners do not otherwise qualify for Europe at all - and that goes to teh Europa League winner.}

Cheers ed but who does the additional place go to then? Or does that place get wiped out? {Ed002's Note - What additional place?}

Ed he's asking how the additonal team. the Europa league winner who doesn;t otherwise qualify for Europe. is accounted for. The answer is (I assume) someone will have to play another round of pre qualifying. Not the winner, as we did in 2005, as this eventuality is catered for and ours wasn't. But further down the pecking order. Meaning the same number of teams in round one proper {Ed002's Note - Seemingly his not as he is still struggling with it.}

Well say if Chelsea win the Europa and come 5th the team that wins would get a place in this case Chelsea and the person in 5th if it's Chelsea where does that place go? Sorry If I'm being really stupid here lol {Ed002's Note - There is no extra place UNLESS the winners fail to qualify for Europe at all.}

26 Apr 2013 11:19:56
Hi Eds, I was wondering if you had any particular views on Anthony Fry as the new PL Chairman? Good appointment for you? {Ed002's Note - I am told he was the popular choice amongst the appointments committee but in the big scheme of things it is not a role that has a significant impact on me. The only thing they have going which is a big deal for the clubs are the local FFP rules.}

Just read on tv that he is MU fan. Is this now a specific requirement for jobs at the FA? {Ed002's Note - Who he supports makes no difference and he is not employed by The FA. Would you be grizzling and whining if he were a Liverpool supporter? This is really embarrassing again.}

Sorry Ed02 I thought the FA had something to do with the Premier League. It was posted as a sarcastic comment in the light of Gill and Dyke also being MU fans but you seem to have had a sense of humour loss.
I usually respect and admire your responses but perhaps we should forget the banter when you are in this sort of mood!
Bet you don't post this!

26 Apr 2013 12:34:09
Respect to you Ed02 for posting. By the way I had no problem when we had a Chelsea fan as Chairman. {Ed002's Note - Noted; it makes no difference at all who the Chair is. The Premier League hardly interfere with anything.}

I think his timely bailing from Lehman's is more worrying than him being a utd fan [FR]

26 Apr 2013 11:18:58
Think of things from Suarez's point of view. He is 26, taken a long look at the present administration and concluded that the chance of Championship football is not going to happen anytime soon. He knows the capabilities of the manager and the players around him, he should do, he is a top class footballer. He has considered how much FSG want to spend, then spoken to his agent about his future in the present situation. They concluded that Liverpool is yesterday's men.

He wants to make sure he is sold to Bayern, Madrid or Juventus. His life, his career, his future. He is not playing for charity.

How do expect a player of his quality to hang around a club with average ambitions? Don't give me any management BS either.

El Pool forever. {Ed023's Note - Just to point out. The owners, manager and all connected to the club don't have average ambitions. The owners spending proves this. Would love to know where you get these conclusions from}

26 Apr 2013 12:02:32
By continuing finishing midtable places, this year club couldn't even achieve minimum target europa, forget top4, that's how backwards we have gone from last season, Liverpool and FSG have been talking of top4 since 3. 5 years now but Liverpool are yet to achieve instead are going backwards and this season is evidence, normaly when you have a player who scores more then 30 goals you either fight for league title or atleast achieve top4 but Liverpool couldn't even achieve europa despite having a player who scored more then 30, goals, that just shows how a poor team we are on top of it manager spent 60-70M!

So what do you suggest then we sack the manager? That's really going to convince him to stay? Look at the top teams except us and Tottenham and Chelsea everyone keeps there manager for longer then a few months. Tottenham and Chelsea already in 4th place near enough so then getting a new manager has not made a slight bit of difference at this time really. Rodgers has improved us with one season and he can work on the defence which has been are worst area this season.

It's impatient persons like you that would bring our club down if in charge because you wouldn't keep to one manager. Next season should be exciting because BR is building a fast attacking squad he just needs to sort a few things out and we will be flying.

London red

Everytime I hear about the Owners not spending. It makes me vomit.
common mate. look at the players Liverpool squad have. /
how many of them are from 2008/2009.
Owners have pumped up more than 120 mill.
Our so called managers blewed the money on average players.
Y on earth are people blaming owners?

ed why don't you post above the banter page. " Liverpool have been high spenders from past 2 seasons. "

I understand the frustration of some fans that we have fallen outside the top 4 and now are struggling to finish top 6. It's not altogether surprising though. We've more or less been saved from administration in recent years and now FFP has come into play we're up against it even more than ever. Until the start of this season we've had a huge wage bill and we've been losing money hand over fist. The focus of FSG has to be the finances of the club. Before we can even consider getting back into the top 4 we have to address the future financial stability of the club. We simply can't continue throwing money at average players like we have done in the past. Do you honestly think the oweners, manager and staff are deliberately aiming for mid table? Get a grip. There are 19 other teams in the Premier League battling for top 4 and unfortunately we're not a rich club so top 4 is a massive challenge.
MarkB

26 Apr 2013 13:46:40
London red neither helps appointing micky mouse manager, who blew 60-70M, impatient fans are you having a laugh, improved us, haha again your out of your depth mate, the season is worst then ever, when was the last time we missed europe completely, Rodgers needs to go, there is no excuse for any manager after spending that amount of money and yet massively failed.

Rodgers out before he continues wasting more money on HASBEENS.

26 Apr 2013 14:40:13
Rodgers has improved us with one season and he can work on the defence which has been are worst area this season.

This season it was defence.
next it might be wings
then attack.
then midfield
then defence again.

The above are known as excuses.
But let's put some faith on BR, for two reasons.
1. he knows his stands and the club and wil have absolutly no excuse next seaosn.
2. No top manager would want to come to us right now.

Ed023,
It all depends if you know what you are doing. This administration, clearly, do not.

Whatever they may say to the contrary.

El Pool Forever. {Ed023's Note - Your opinion is very welcome but I like our owners and trust them and I also believe Rodgers is the right man in charge}

26 Apr 2013 11:17:38
Can't wait for next season, it will truly tell us whether the club is moving forward or slipping further behind. Would love to see Kelly bossing the centre back role and see how the likes of suso and sterling are getting on. Think this ban will be good for Sturrridge, has the attributes to be a great striker.

26 Apr 2013 11:02:45
hi eds, I recently post about dario srna. wisdom must go for loan for first team experience as a center back. kelly must use as centre back next year. he must fill jamie carrager absence. I like to see kelly and wisdom as centre backs not right back. dari srna is 31 years old. good back at low price.

Srna is a fantastic player, but why would he be at a low price? He is the captain for club and country, a very able player and in a CL team

26 Apr 2013 11:32:45
31 years old! (that's all what is needed to say really)

Low price? very doubtful that.
Back-up? he is a right midfielder for Shaktar and Croatia, he rarley plays RWB.
He wouldn't come to sit on the bench!
Wisdom and kelly can play there, meaning PERFECT COVER/BACKUP. We will not start with 4 RBs a game, and
RB is propably the last position we need to buy players.

Glen Johnson
Martin Kelly
Andre Wisdom
Ryan Mclaughlin

and I have in my mind sold Flanagan already! So NO

Hi Ed002,
don`t know if you`ve been asked this before but do you think that Suarez will play for Liverpool next season? He`s suspended, we don`t know if this ban will be shortened or not, Liverpool is out of CL, we don`t know if they`ll make it to EL, after another big wave of criticism do you think he`s in the mood to stay at Anfield and/or in England? thanks. {Ed002's Note - It was dealt with yesterday Tom.}

26 Apr 2013 11:00:13
Rodgers recent statements about the affair. all he is trying to do is defend his player. would you moaners want him to come out and criticize his own player? some people are ridiculous and when King Kenny did the same last year no-one really moaned about it! just seems to me another chance to have a dig at Rodgers. he is a young manager and is still learning we need to give him time to build sucess as we can't buy it like other teams! he will come good and is a good man! Are you a kid mate, Rodgers should shut his mouth, shouldn't crticise Suarez nor should criticise FA, because its embarrassing, media and world football are laughing at our club.

1st Rodgers comes out and Says Suarez have let the club, fans and himself down,

Then yesterday he says Suarez hasn't let the club or anyone down in fact he would be very happy if he had another 8 players like Suarez mentality at club, and goes on criticising FA, WTF.

hi eds, berca have the problem with the good physical build up teams like bayern, psg, celtic. his three teams have a strong defensive midfilders atleat that cause problem in the tiki taka style. imagine 57%ball pocession with bayern but have only 1 shot on goal. when the team have good arial ability then they can get goal with same stategy with every team. but barca have magician like messi and inesta. xavi. so they can do huge damage for mediocore teams. look at our Liverpool team we have just suarez. but we like to play tiki taka. we have no ball playing midfilders. gerrad, hendo, downing always love to play long cross. but in tiki taka the first think is necessary that in wings, the must be the forwards who are like to cut in the final box. no expert winger is needed. but rogers is trying to do it with long passing midfilders. in tiki taka conced one or two goals is not make very impact, because 3 or 4 goals can easily get able that the berca can do. recent years 3-2, 4-1, 3-1, 4-2 are common result for berca. when we are fllowing we get 2 goal from our mixing tiki taka and long crossing style. but also conceed goals for the tiki taka style. so rogers must choose the style what is suited for us.

Just a deviation from the current Suarez biting saga, have you guys watched Iron Man 3? Quite funny how there was a scene where Agger scored a header against Chelsea on the television! Sheer class

I saw the film the last night and was laughing my head off at the scene

hi eds what do u think about dario srna as jonson back up?experienced international player with vast experience. {Ed002's Note - Would you sell Kelly and Wisdom to buy him?}

26 Apr 2013 11:06:01
No way ed002. But the OP propably would! CLUELESS

Are you his agent or something?

26 Apr 2013 11:36:07
His agent would know the last thing Liverpool need is RB!

Really getting to me and I feel I have had it with football. Suarez was wrong and should be punished. The press/media crawl all over everyone for comments. They keep going until they get something they can use. No one can say the right thing. The Prime minister even comes on and says he is not the Prime Minister but "only a dad of a 7 year old". Well of course that is why they wanted to speak to him, wasn't it? They didn't call me for an opinion, a grandfather to two 7 year olds.
I wish the club had made this a no comment situation but they would be pilloried for that.
The more I think about it it is probably the press/media I am fed up with. They can do what they like, even to the extent of disagreeing with the Government on how they are controlled.

Don't get me wrong Suarez should be punished and should probably accept the ban.

Yeah I agree Kev. Its not the ban that has really angered me, although it was a bit steep Luis has to expect that after his previous and it is Luis I am much more annoyed with rather than the ban itself. But what I find really hard is the complete witch hunt on not only Luis, but also LFC. The media always find ways to use these situations to take shots as LFC. As soon as the club said they were "shocked and disappointed" with the ban - suddenly the media start claiming the club support luis biting ivanovic. Of course they were shocked by a very long ban and disappointed their bast player will miss 10 games, but this does not say they condone what he did. On a web site, some people were even trying to blame to clubs coaching staff for not being able to control Luis - he is a grown man what more can they do he makes his own decisions!

I don't think the club has handled the situation that badly, obviously they are going to be angered by an unjust band. But the sad thing is, it doesn't matter what the club does in respect to luis, we will always be hounded and criticised for anything to do with that player.

It's simple to me, stop Suarez biting - it Suarez hadn't bitten Ivanović there would be no story.

As he has bitten another player, all Liverpool needed to say was that they were disappointed by the length of the ban but will accept it and move on, stating there support for their player and offering him some form of rehabilitation.

Pretty simple really.

I agree with that last comment and wish it was that simple but the press/media can't keep it that way.

I have just seen the Robbie Savage video on the tv and he makes the point that we now have a benchmark. Spitting, Biting, Headbutting, Legbreaking tackles all 10 game bans. Quite simple really!

Stop moaning, if Liverpool make the news for the right reasons, like winning the carling cup or finishing 5th in the league you won't complain about the pludits the press give you then will you

26 Apr 2013 10:20:03
hi eds, not Liverpool related. bayern munich have already singed robert lewondiski. mario gomez is the man to look for a new club. also heard that they are trucking erik lamela and dries martins as robben and ribery's long term replacement.
they also temp vincent company to join them. I think they have the brain to use money for success not like man city.

26 Apr 2013 10:14:41
Suarez got a 7 game ban for his FIRST biting incident.
He then gets 10 game ban for his SECOND biting incident.
You always get punished more for committing a second offence.
So what the heck was Brendan going on about in his Press Conference - he was an embarrassment to himself and the club and is Suarez.

His ban was in a different country and should not have been taken into account.

Does it mean now that if you get sent off for a bad tackle and get 3 matches ban that next time you get sent of (whenever, wherever and for whatever) you get a 6 match ban and the next time a 9 match ban and so on! Each incident should be looked at in isolation.

Evered {Ed002's Note - It was looked at in isolation.}

Eds and fellow reds with FFP rules coming in and clubs having to be self efficient, which clubs could currently carry this off?
I know we have a big fan base and revenue seems to have increased since FSG took over, but we are still making a loss. {Ed002's Note - You cannot seriously be expecting me to list all of the clubs in Europe that can meet the FFP criteria?}

Ah come ed002! Think of it as therapy. Something to take your mind of your love of Suarez. ;-)

I will probaly get hammered for this but what would Bill shankly make of this Suarez fiasco. Its been a pr nightmare for your club nothing has been learned from last year & B. R. has just added fuel to the fire with his statments. Whether you agree with the 10 game ban or not this is doing a lot of damage to your club.

A CITY FAN.

Who gives a f**K. Suarez is hated by everyone in the PL any way. I wouldn't expect BR to do anything but support the player. If he dosent support him every Liverpool Fan that is against BR will use it to dicredit him. So when it comes to a choice of LFC fans and City fans opionion its more important to go with the LFC fans as there the ones buying the merchandise and paying into the club. It won't have a massive impact on the world wide fan base and marketing. The only ones that really suffer are the Liverpool fans as they read the negative press. there's probably a lot more support for suarez abroad anyway.

It is a pure hypothetical because this would not have happened under Shankly's management.

The players would be clear from day 1 on how to behave and if they transgressed Shanks would have disowned them and probably knocked their teeth out so it didn't happen again.

26 Apr 2013 11:19:30
This things will be forgotten within few days, shankly era was different compare to modern football, if today Liverpool would be achieving the standards we have set, then this things wouldn't be big as people are making out, united, city, chelsea etc all have deal with worst incident then this, at the sametime their manager and club have always back their players rather then slaming them, united backed Rio all the way for drug test, united backed cantona at the way, but when comes to Liverpool and the lack of success for few years becomes big blow to us.

26 Apr 2013 09:54:58
hi eds, I like to keep suarez. we need to offload that players not performing. 4 match this year and 6 match next year. we have sturidge. if we a experienced stiker like di natale, klose or pizzaro for back up then we can survive in the initial stage. fairly no stikers will to us like suarez quality in the next year because we have no ucl qualification. so just ignore the incident and support the team from heart. so Liverpool keep eye in next year progress.

26 Apr 2013 09:39:57
I think we should sell suarez in summer if the right offer is made. clubs like Juve will want to take advantage of the situation and force a move for lesser price. But if that £40 mil close is there on his contract then, we have nothing to worry about? Ed is that close there?
if we sell him, we can buy strikers, and I think these players will be available in summer. jovetic, sanchez, negerendo, Remy.

Which club in their right minds are going to pay the prices you have quoted for Reina, Downing, Shelvey Borini, Skrtel, Coates and Sterling? Get real.

Morning is it true were in for the reading keeper what a joke ye he was great against us but were LIVERPOOL should we not be aiming a lot higher in terms of quality now I no champs league but let's face it our HISTORY/traditions/name/fans I'd like to think we still have pulling power to be able to get the quality we so desperately need it hurts when u see clubs like chelsea/mancity no history jus plastic fans lift league titles (and yes I am jealous) I wish we had a oil tycoon just so I could see my beloved club win the league which I've never seen and soory to say I don't think I will ever JON96

I feel we have snatched a PR disaster from the jaws of victory with the clubs response after the ban was announced. Privately they may feel it is harsh but if they had been advised to accept without comment, they would have been better off. The initial response was much better than last time but I feel we have thrown it away in the last few days with players and managers interviews. I would have to question the advice given with regard to the media at the club.
It was always going to be a long ban. This is the 4th unpleasant incident the club has had to react to with this player in England. The panel are not allowed to take into account what happens under other countries rules but they are human and will know of his previous and it is not more likely to make them be lenient in this case.

26 Apr 2013 09:29:33
Mate you need to see FA statement, they have made it clear to the club, when giving 10 games ban, they haven't taken any previous incident in to account including Evra issue.

The FA might say that but they have taken it into account all past things Suarez has done

I appreciate that but the board are people who do know what he has done before both here and abroad. They may not have added games to the ban directly for previous indiscretions but it will colour their judgement on what is a fair or harsh punishment in this case and what sort of punishment may prompt a change in future behaviour.

26 Apr 2013 10:53:04
The FA might say that but they have taken it into account all past things Suarez has done
--------------------------------------------------

The FA might say, haha are you kidding? they have given the details to club for 10 games ban without his previous incidents, this is not a joke where FA can say anything, this are leagal matters where any mistake from FA can be very regretful for them, they have provided every single details and reason to club for his 10 games ban, I don't know why is too hard for some fans to understand!

26 Apr 2013 08:09:00
Suarez has done this as he wants out of Liverpool. He did the same at Ajax when he wanted out of there. He has made it almost impossible for him to stay. Suarez is a fantastic footballer but the club will survive without him. As much as I enjoy watching him play football, the guy is not right in the head. He now believes he is being persecuted, I'm sorry but if you bite someone, then expect a punishment.
I believe LFC are letting the player make his own decision on whether to appeal or not as they know he won't be there next season, so if the FA increase the ban, it doesn't matter.
One man is not bigger than the club. After Rush came Aldridge, then Fowler, Owen, Torres and Suarez. We will always find a replacement.
I would love Suarez to stay, but not when he continuously drags our great club through the gutter.

My opinion.

Ofcourse yes, hu wants 2 play 4 a crap manager like brendon, even nuri sahin said, in my hole career the less professional manager its brendon, forget dreaming in Irish brendon, and get Spanish Benitez back.

I completely agree, what's the point of having a world class player when he does things like this.
his behaivior is pathetic and this drags down the name of LFC and also will affect the team morale,

i think Suarez took it too far this time.

there is a difference between being controversial and being mentally r*******, Suarez is the latter

Get of br back. my god we are playing a much better style of football than we did with benitez. don't get me wrong loved him when he was manager but br deserves a chance. to get in more of his own players. not some of the dead wood that is still there

"Ofcourse yes, hu wants 2 play 4 a crap manager like brendon, even nuri sahin said, in my hole career the less professional manager its brendon, forget dreaming in Irish brendon, and get Spanish Benitez back. "

Oh so the fact that Sahin actually wasn't good enough come into account at all? Still blinded by that light I see.

26 Apr 2013 10:08:51
Rodgers is a micky mouse manager, anyone knows footy will tell you that Rodgers haven't improved anything instead has taken Liverpool backwards despite spending 60-70M, in short he couldn't even achieve our minimum target.

26 Apr 2013 10:15:40
I was shocked when you guys appointed Rodgers, rodgers will never take Liverpool to top4, he is a championship manager at best, even bringing more then half a team players and yet your season is worst compare to last season.

Sahin is certainly good enough to play for Dortmund tho. Just a thought!

'I was shocked when you guys appointed Rodgers, rodgers will never take Liverpool to top4, he is a championship manager at best, even bringing more then half a team players and yet your season is worst compare to last season. '

you are the defenition of a bitter clueless t***
what half a team?
he has signed 5 players for the first team
after letting go of ateast 10 players.
Allen, Borini, Assaidi, Sturridge, Coutinho
(Joe Cole, Kuyt, Maxi, Bellamy, Aurelio, Charlie Adam, Carroll, Doni, etc. )
Assaidi will be gone, and Yesil is an acadamy buy!
We are much better than last season, at least I want to watch us play this season rather than hoof ball rubbish of last season! Building a team around andy Carroll. I can't understand how fickle and clueless some of the posters are, thinking they know it all when in fact they are as knowledgeable as a potato!

So what difference would rafa make. none. remember the saying You should never go back kenny is proof good short term but never for the long term. and also be careful what u wish for. I for one fully back br and will do till the club decide otherwise.

26 Apr 2013 12:25:10
Rodgers is and will always be midtable manager, last year we achieved 2 finals won one and finished 7-8th playing fantastic footy and created most chances then anyother team, missed Gerrard (6 months) lucas (6 months) Suarez ( 10 games) came Rodgers spent 60-70M and got all fit players yet couldn't acheive europa, if those players missed like last year we would be fighting for religation that's how a a poor manager he is, even after spending 60 -70M!

RODGERS OUT!

26 Apr 2013 07:58:09
Have we been scouting sporting Lisbon?
Its just that we're linked with a lot of their players.

I think we scout their youth development squad quite a bit - they are really really classy in the NextGen

Rodgers has been in regular contact with Surez's agent, Pere Guardiola, brother of the impending Bayern Munich coach Pep, since the striker bit the Chelsea defender at Anfield on Sunday. Liverpool rebuked their leading goalscorer for the incident but Rodgers said that support for the striker, publicly and psychologically, was the priority.

"I've had a lot of discussions with Pere Guardiola over the last few days that have been very strong, " he said. "They have been very happy and pleased with what the club has done not only to protect the player but to support the player. But also to understand that he needs help. "

Surez's decision will have a huge impact on Liverpool's transfer strategy this summer but, despite the uncertainty, Rodgers insists he has given no consideration to the 30-goal striker leaving.

"We will plan with Luis being here. There is no other thought in my mind. The plans for the summer are very simple: we need to improve the quality in our team and will be looking to bring in players that can add to what we've already got. And Luis is very much a player I believe will be here.

"I'm not thinking of that [Surez asking to leave]. I've got a relationship with Luis that is probably as close as with anyone at the club. We speak on a daily basis. He knows that my door is open first and foremost to help him as a human being. I can guide him, like I've done this year, and will tell him when he's done wrong. And I'll encourage him when he's shown the willingness to improve. I can't worry about that. I can only worry about keeping us improving. " as eds have already mentioned I think suarez will go. I hope not. {Ed002's Note -

Ed002 would like your shout on this please. {Ed002's Note - I can confirm that Pere Guardiola has spoken with Rodgers and has been in England. Guardiola has also net with representatives of the club. I would put aside any fluff about how happy folks are about protecting the player, and certainly any thought that Rodgers has not considered the player leaving - which contradicts another statement from him.}

Can anyone tell me why LFC cancelled re-runs of the press conference last night? Was it because of BRs comments? Does LFC have ANOTHER PR problem?

thanks

26 Apr 2013 06:46:32
Some of the things I have heard from a lot of my fellow Liverpool fans is, to say the least, embarrassing.
Suarez has brought all of this on himself.
Be honest with yourselves, what would you be saying about this behaviour if it was any other player for any other team?
The reality is that this blind defence of Suarez is born out of the fear of the knowledge that we are ordinary at the moment and we'd be even worse without the genius that is Suarez.
If he stays then great, if he goes then we try to replace him.
I'm not sure Rodgers is good enough to rebuild us to be title contenders again but he still deserves a little more time yet.
Hopefully he will turn into a top manager and guide us back to greatness but if he doesn't and we continue to be mediocre then I'll still love my club

Completely agree Chris. I think Rodgers coaching side of being a manager he has done quite well, a few mistakes but if he learns from those mistakes could become a very good manager. His transfers have been hit and miss, some good (Coutinho, Sturridge) and some not so good (Assaidi). So this committee could be a very shrewd move in particular. The one thing that has bugged me a little with Rodgers is his constant need to open his mouth to the media, a perfect example being today. Why could he not just let this Suarez thing go as Suarez is clearly in the wrong and even if you think the FA are treating him unfairly, you have to atleast concede that he is slightly moronic by giving them ammunition on such regularity. I however, think he is just a knob who happens to be a talented footballer. I expect and think he should get sold this summer. Sick of his negativity personally.

KiwiRed

Title contenders Chris? I would be ecstatic with top 4 if i'm honest. I do have my fesrs about giving Rodgers a big transfer kitty of Luis is sold.

The Irish Rover

Just one more wee point. The only thing that is mediocre about Liverpool is the effort of the managers to get it right. Certainly not the money invested in players. We should not be sitting where we are. There is no excuse.

hi eds, I think rogers is an improving coach. but his improvement is not helpful for Liverpool. his tactics is not go0d enough for Liverpool. 2 goal advantage against arsenal but he has failed to win this. his problems in his tactics. at the begining lucas was injured but he did not buy any defencive midfilders. borini. allen, assadi. shahin all are light weight. we fail to make impact with west brom, stoke city, aston villa. their midfilders are stong but no one in our midfield dominate them. we have lot of goals but we have not any gain because of our light midfilders and slopy defendes and keeper. in january we badly needd a defender and a strong midfilder. but rogers is not noticed that. I love tiki taka but the team that not adapted in it and not have the same quality players. gerrad is 32+. I love to see hin in cameo apperace in second half in the next season. he lost his goal scoring ability. allen is not xavi. tiki taka is not helpful in england. for success in epl we need a balance team with strenght and quality. I think we need just five change in our squad. two defenders (alderweild, davide astori, ryan shawcross, hector moreno, any of the two), a right winger like lamela, sanchez or andrew aywe. a hard tackling midfilder like maxim gonalans or ettient coupe. a goal scoring play maker like eriksen or hernanes or isco. if reina goes then also need a keeper like miglolet, ben foster or any germen keepers. I like to rogers after 6 or 7 years when he should have vast eprience but not this time. we need a experienced coach like ancetolli, pellegrini or even rafa benitez. roger can under the new coach for some year as assistant. what do u think eds?

For what it's worth, I think you're talking rubbish

26 Apr 2013 02:06:51
Hi eds-have Liverpool reallyfallen behind the likes of Barcelona, united, city, chelsea, Bayern munich to an extent that is very unlikely to challenge for top honours consistantly again what can we do to get up there again, don't get me wrong will always love lfc even if we ended up like Rangers but in this football world is it purely money and if so where did we go wrong and can this happen to any of the big teams?-SALLY- {Ed002's Note - Liverpool's primary target since the owners arrived has been a return to the Champions League.}

Dream on Ed002, dream on.
