So it would appear that so far the man who is paid millions of pounds to coach our team knows more than all the armchair fans. who'd have thought it! 😏.

25 Sep 2016 22:07:44
There must be some mistake 🤔.

26 Sep 2016 09:22:12
Al knows.

25 Sep 2016 21:45:52
Just saw each of Coutinho's squad photos from when he joined and in the 2016/ 2017 one he looks like he's put on a bit of muscle which is good to see so now he can be that bit more physical. Anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

Believable7 Unbelievable1

25 Sep 2016 23:02:00
Purple Aki has also noticed. Lol.

25 Sep 2016 20:14:16
So we have scored 16 goals in the League this season without a recognised striker. Simply marvelous.

Have to say that I do not see a future for Sturridge. Fantastic player but not one which can be consistently involved due to his fitness. It is a shame really. He is a top quality striker, one of the best in the league but Klopp not going to rely on him to be on the pitch game after game.

Ed001, do you see Sturridge staying past this season?

Believable2 Unbelievable12

{Ed001's Note - the season has only just started, he will get games this season.}

25 Sep 2016 20:36:42
Yeah sure Ed001, he will get a run out but do you see Sturridge in Klopp's long term plans? We all know his fitness is an issue. Sturridge probably not even doing the same training as the rest of the squad.

Not sure if Klopp is going to hang on to Sturridge.

{Ed001's Note - I expect him to want to keep him. He has stuck by players with injury problems in the past.}

25 Sep 2016 20:47:02
Thank you for the reply Ed001.

Absolutely thrilled for the season ahead. Hopefully Sturridge just keeps a cool head and goes with the flow. Champions League next season we will need the quality of Sturridge. Fingers crossed.

25 Sep 2016 21:27:28
He's done it with reus and the city lad .

25 Sep 2016 22:24:51
i don't see a future for danny at the club the injures seem to have taken there toll on him no real drive in his running anymore 50/ 50 balls that u see between him an a defender were u think give it your all get there 1st he just doesn't go its almost like its in his head i think that will stop him being klopps main man up top an for that i think he will go in the summer. on pure ability he top quality but its that drive that he lacks will be the end of him i'm afraid.

{Ed025's Note - i have to agree adam..

25 Sep 2016 23:04:42
He seems to be holding himself back from making them explosive runs, maybe once his body is stronger after such a lengthy lay off he might get the confidence back to make the runs again.
Got to say though his movement is still causing the opposition nightmares.

26 Sep 2016 01:19:09
Still a great player but I believe he's on his way next summer. I think Mr Origi will take his spot. I really like Sturridge but his injuries are a huge problem. He's nowhere near the player he used to be in my opinion and Origi has far more potential. The kids a future star.

26 Sep 2016 12:27:47
As soon as Ings is back up to full speed i expect Studge himself will look to move on. Maybe next season!

25 Sep 2016 19:26:59
James Milner has always been a full back hasn't he?!

Unbelievable that we've only just realised.

Believable14 Unbelievable5

25 Sep 2016 19:37:50
I was worried when Klopp decided to go with him at LB. Milner seems to be the type of player like Kuyt, will run through a brick wall followed by another brick wall and still keep on running.

Have not heard one word from Milner pissing and moaning. Hats off him. He is doing a fantastic job and leading by example.

25 Sep 2016 20:59:38
I run a under12s jfc team wish i had 7 james milners!

25 Sep 2016 21:32:38
Yep. Seven Milners is just the right amount. 8 would unbalance the side.

25 Sep 2016 21:54:46
A bit unfair to have 1 adult on your team but 7 would surely raise a few eyebrows.

25 Sep 2016 22:45:25
Yep would raise a few eyebrows, especially if they're all identical.

26 Sep 2016 04:56:23
Would make printing of uniforms a lot easier.

25 Sep 2016 18:46:37
Another loss for West ham today and with their owners expecting so much from them this season I can't see slavan bilic lasting much longer. I'm not very surprised about that, one of the Eds did say only a few months ago that he wasn't a great manager and that this would happen.

They were too good for us last season but I can see us rolling over them this season.

I am a bit surprised by stoke though they have some really good players and if they don't pull it together soon I can see the media putting pressure on mark Hughes to get the sack.

I think though that Hughes should be given more time.

It's good though to see that David moyes is doing as is expected of him 😅

The point of this post is that every season there a manager sacked early and bookies have odds on at who being the first.

Personally I think bilic will be first because more is expected of him.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

25 Sep 2016 19:11:26
You've got to question his decision to sell James Tompkins.

25 Sep 2016 19:28:31
Bilic looks completely lost. His players are not even responding to him.

At times last season I read many fans saying that Southampton, West Ham and Everton are bound to leave us behind this season.

Ha ha.

25 Sep 2016 20:12:14
L pool page!

25 Sep 2016 21:15:36
Don't care for Bilic nor WH.

26 Sep 2016 08:25:46
Never forgiven Bilic forgetting Blanc sent off in that world cup semi in '98. Bias aside - I know Blanc played for Utd. - but he was a great player who deserved his place in final.

25 Sep 2016 16:59:55
With the team doing well and everybody on site getting on, the only thing missing is a podcast. Any sign of one in the near future Ed001?

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - hopefully soon mate. It is just getting time.}

25 Sep 2016 14:09:06
Just curious, how did Rodgers arrive at conclusion to sign firmino? I always thought his speciality is in recruitment from domestic league save coutinho transfer.

Believable1 Unbelievable17

25 Sep 2016 14:20:59
Rodgers and team signed loads of players from foreign leagues, what are you talking about?

Off the top of my head: Aspas, Borini, Assaidi, Alberto, Manquillo, Moreno, Sakho, Illori, Emre, Coutinho, Firmino. And I'm sure there's many more too so I don't really get ehat you mean.

The question really should be: why can only 3 of those transfer listed above be seen as successful? A lot of wasted money and poor buys.

Credit on bringing in Firmino, he's class but we paid a hell of a lot of money for him so quality is expected.

25 Sep 2016 14:21:05
He didn't want firmino.

25 Sep 2016 14:26:56
He signed off the top of my head Borini, Assaidi, Aspas, Cissokho, Manquillo, Moreno, Sakho, Ilori, Coutinho, Balotelli, Sahin, Alberto, and Can from clubs outside of England.

But yeah aside from that, it was just Firmino.

25 Sep 2016 14:42:32
he's worth every penny we paid for him.

25 Sep 2016 15:56:18
That's not my question. My question is how did he arrive at signing firmino? Ok he did sign borini but already in bpl, illori assaidi are gamble for youth team, sakho decision is easy bcos he used to be cap of psg, Emre was easy as he is 10mil and cap of german u21. Firmino?

{Ed001's Note - it is not a difficult question, I fail to understand why you asked it? The scouts recommended him.}

25 Sep 2016 16:27:28
The answer is a complex system called "moneyball" 😎

(One for ed002 there ) 😉.

25 Sep 2016 17:10:08
He was one of the influential players in bundensliga apart from players in dortmund/ munich, top 4-5 in assists as well.

Destroyed dortmund under klopp at that time.

Just see the belief klopp has got for him to play him as a striker.

25 Sep 2016 21:19:24
He brought in Firmino yet had no idea what to do with him nor how to get the best out of him. Thank Heavens that Klopp is here and we now have a great player on our hands. Had BR still been here, Firmino would have been considered a flop and would b out on loan somewhere in Germany. The damage BR did or could have done to this club is only starting to show after his departure.

25 Sep 2016 23:34:40
Spot on Hamilton i remember he played firmino right wing against the mancs and he looked like he had never played football in his life.

26 Sep 2016 01:52:18
Spot on, Mingo. I remember that game. He looked lost and completely useless. If someone had told me there was ever the Firmino of today in that player at OT, I would've laughed him/ her out of the room.

26 Sep 2016 08:47:09
My best moment was when he complained he doesn't have a senior player fit to play striker and yet he benched Firmino.

27 Sep 2016 04:57:12
if Rodgers had not been sacked, firmino would have ended up like di maria did at utd, he had no idea what to do with him, thank god klopp arrived when he did.

25 Sep 2016 12:59:47
Spurs vs City next week.

Big game against the swans for us.

So impressed with the lads, all spreading out the goals and assists. Teams just can't pin us down.

Couple years ago if sturridge was injured we had no chance now he can't get in the team.

Believable16 Unbelievable7

25 Sep 2016 21:20:32
That is the game we need to prepare hard for and win because if we do, we can sit back and watch Spurs and City pummel each other in a draw, I hope.

25 Sep 2016 21:36:00
It's good were playing the swans next, we do owe them a midday shafting at the Liberty. Nice way to keep up the intensity levels.

25 Sep 2016 12:50:05
Jurgen Klopp is top off the list out of best starts to a first full season after 6 league matches out of any LFC manager since the EPL started.

Get in!

Believable10 Unbelievable7

25 Sep 2016 14:14:09
Scary thing is we could still argue we have underachieved, should have beaten spurs.

25 Sep 2016 14:29:22
Should have beaten Burnley as well. If you'd shown me our fixture list and said after 6 games we'd be in the top 4 with 13pts, and have scored more goals in our opening 8 games than any Liverpool team has since the late 19th century, I'd probably have taken it.

25 Sep 2016 14:30:43
And Burnley too.

25 Sep 2016 15:43:41
Should have would have could have, means nothing, we didn't. Best start or not we are still 5 points off the top, with so many games to be played.

25 Sep 2016 16:34:58
5pts could snowball into insurmountable lead come Christmas.

25 Sep 2016 15:11:37
MI, true but we've shipped a lot of goals too, Spurs only 3 goals against them, we've had a fantastic start but need to stop letting in so many.

25 Sep 2016 12:42:25
Hey eds/ reds

What a game!

My god that was thrilling yesterday some of the passing in and around their box was so quick and sublime the hull players couldn't keep track of the ball at times.

Now normally when we are winning comfortably and the opponent get one back we go in panic mode! Not this time that little magician of ours 9 passes later hits a beauty WOW! It was like slap in the face to Hull and lil Couts telling them NO the ball goes in that net!

I can't wait to send them mancs running back to Old Toilet with their tails between their legs. But we got a tricky game with Swansea first!

Hey eds just out of curiosity how do u think Jose would set his united team up against us in your opinion?

Believable6 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - the same way as he always sets up. He will look to defend deep and pack the box.}

25 Sep 2016 17:17:36
mourinho only plays attacking football against 'lesser' opponents.

25 Sep 2016 17:17:36
mourinho only plays attacking football against 'lesser' opponents.

25 Sep 2016 19:49:10
Cheers for the reply eds. can't wait for that game.

25 Sep 2016 21:23:39
He parks the bus at home vs big teams. Be certain that he will park two coaches on the road vs us at Anfield especially with the way we create chances and score for fun. The guy is so scared of losing that it cripples him, tactically.

25 Sep 2016 10:53:59
Best thing about this season is that we are not reliant on a single person for goals. Everyone seems up for it and hungry to get their name on the score sheet.

Loved how even at 5:1 the team still looked on the prowl for more. Hope we smash those pretenders (united)

Believable11 Unbelievable8

25 Sep 2016 11:25:53
Teams were scared of us in 2013/ 14 and we nearly took advantage and won the league.
Teams have not been scared of us since Suarez left.
Klopp has brought the fear factor back. Teams will not know how to defend against us. Burnley was a blip, we had those in 2013/ 4 too and no doubt we will have a few more. But this season we will win the league in style.

25 Sep 2016 12:08:49
Well said.

That sllit second indecision from a defensive unit creates the half a yard needed to score.
We're going great but there's a long ay to go.
City look awesome.

25 Sep 2016 12:20:54
If say city look more controlled over the pitch but I'd say we look better going forward.

25 Sep 2016 12:25:26
I believe us winning the league when i see it. Love the optimism ron but one game at a time for now, let's just enjoy the football!

25 Sep 2016 12:39:46
Spot on. Teams will not know how to defend us because frankly, they don't and won't have enough defenders or defensive minded players to deal with the movement and attacking threat that our midfield, attack and even CBs possess. Still a long way to go but one game at a time please, Hull is done. The next big game we we have is Swansea on the road and we need to prepare effectively for them as they gave City fits yesterday. As for City winning the PL, they are winning games they're supposed to win right now. We have beaten teams we weren't supposed to beat on their patch so we'll see what happens.

25 Sep 2016 13:47:30
It almost felt as if we stopped trying to score at 3-0, or trying to preserve our energy. However, once Hull scored, we went back to score again. That was kind of worrying.

25 Sep 2016 14:54:15
@savior I think it was more to do with just managing the game at 3-0 didn't want to over commit even though they were down to 10 men, one thing we need to start doing is managing games better when things are tighter in matches, I would look to what you said as a positive, tried managing the game they got a goal back from a poor set piece defensively so we went back and turned it back on to get another to keep the margin healthy.

25 Sep 2016 15:04:59
Being 3-1 against Hull was kind of worrying? Eh?

25 Sep 2016 16:05:32
Fair point Cbray, hope we do perform even better defensively in the upcoming games!

25 Sep 2016 16:29:10
If De Bryune is out then City are about to drop points.

25 Sep 2016 22:11:04
What about sterling and aguero ron? don't think its as simple as that. Their confidence i would imagine is as high as ours and they will be tough to beat even without de bryune.

I echo the sentiment of taking one game at a time, no need to get ahead of ourselves. I agree we look good though and i am loving the way we are playing.

25 Sep 2016 09:54:28
Great result yesterday. watching the game and I know they players where putting in the hard work. but I feel that we won the game in mostly 3rd gear!

Our options from the bench are excellent and players can drop in and out without changing the system. at the moment only the spuds and man city look to have something similar.

Exciting times but we must all remain calm and not jump to the conclusion that we are going to be champions as we still have a few weakness that we haven't been able to fix in the last transfer window.
One thing is sure, as a team and a club, we can get even better 🤓.

25 Sep 2016 10:52:05
I said before the season that I thought the top 4 would be Man City, Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal; in that order. I think I may even have posted it on here and whilst I think we could now leap frog Spurs after Pochs horrible decision to replace Dier and Dembele with Sissoko and Wanyama, I still remain convinced that will be the top 4 regardless of order.

United, Leicester and Chelsea have all failed to strengthen in the right areas and for that reason I simply couldn't see them making the top 4. The start to the season has done nothing to change my mind. I did initially have United, Leicester and Chelsea in 5th, 6th and 7th place. But I have been surprised by Everton. They could be in with a shout for the Europa league places.

Anyway my message to the OP is do not ignore Arsenal. They are the only team in the league who have stability both on and off the pitch. That cannot be underestimated.

25 Sep 2016 12:11:13
Utd. Will be there or there abouts.

25 Sep 2016 12:42:29
Utd won't be far behind and I still tip them to get top four, just as I tip Mou to have a few meltdowns along the way. IMO, let's give the season ten games and we'll see where we are.

25 Sep 2016 15:52:00
Utd have zlatan . He could get top 4 on his own . He's neither man nor beast.

25 Sep 2016 08:52:18
This was the most one-sided game we've had all season. We had Hull on the ropes from the first minute and even with 11 men they looked unable to deal with our breath-taking attacking combinations and movement. It was brilliant to watch and it impressed me that we also managed to keep up our press from the first minute to the last without falling asleep due to thinking the game was won. These are usually the game we struggle with rather than the big teams, who we comfortably beat. So it's refreshing to put Hull away in this manner.

Believable9 Unbelievable8

25 Sep 2016 08:45:02
James Milner seems to have found his best position and dare I say it he's currently the best left back it the league. His runs up the wing were fruitful today and he was absolutely tormenting the Hull right back. He went past a couple of Hull players a number of time to get to the byline and also put in a few dangerous crosses. Defensively he looks solid and put in 1 memorable recovery tackle, his over eagerness to win the ball got him a yellow card but that didn't stop him fulfilling his duties for the rest of the game. His ability from the penalty spot was never in doubt and if anyone had forgotten about it he certainly reminded them of it with 2 expertly struck penalties.

Believable14 Unbelievable9

25 Sep 2016 10:54:17
I thought he was excellent yesterday in all but one moment and that was his touch which led to the corner they subsequently scored from. He just needs to improve his awareness. He had more time than he realised and could've actually let it run out of play.

Otherwise a very good offensive and defensive display.

25 Sep 2016 13:55:46
Both penalties, the keeper knew which side they were going and dived well but stood no chance with the speed and precision they were hit. Milner may as well have pointed to the corner and given him the full coordinates but it would have made no difference. Cracking spot kicks both.

25 Sep 2016 08:33:03
I'd just like to clarify a post I made about Coutinho not too long ago, in which I praised his wonderful ability as a player but said that him taking 10+ inaccurate long shots a game frustrated me. Some people seem to now think I hate Coutinho but this is untrue and it is in fact the opposite, he is my favourite player, hence my posting name. The criticism was constructive criticism, nothing more, nothing less. Today Coutinho was absolutely brilliant in my view, he scored a worldie, got 2 assists and limited himself to just a couple of long shots rather than his usual 10 per game when we are looking for a goal at 0-0 or losing. He instead elected to attempt a number of through balls and if he continues to play like this this I will have no problem whatsoever. He is made things happen and like I said he will get more assists and we will score more goals if he plays in this manner.

Believable10 Unbelievable8

25 Sep 2016 11:15:42
I got what you meant in your post the other day.
It can be frustrating to see coutinho take so many long shots in a game, but I wouldn't blame coutinho as such, more the poor movement and options in from of him, something that does seem to be sorted this season thankfully.

25 Sep 2016 11:15:51
Agree with you totally. There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism. On his day he's world class, totally unplayable. But those days are still too few and far between. We've had consistent world class with Suarez, and Couts doesn't deliver nearly as often as he did. The fact is, on this site, if we win we are all of a sudden the best team in the league and those who shone (Couts in this case) are world beaters. When we lose, half the posters on here insist we'll finish between 8th and 12th. There are games where Couts shoots from distance when other options might have come off. Much as we love him, there are times when we've all shouted at the tv or from the stands, exasperated at his choice to shoot again and again from 25yards when simpler balls were on, or would have been with patience.
The fact is, he is a great little player and if his decision making becomes more consistent (as it seems to be doing) only then will he be truly world class.

25 Sep 2016 11:42:25
agree with you friend. He is class but sometimes has to play simple pass to the overlapping fullback insted of wasting 10 balls.

25 Sep 2016 12:55:01
Mandzo, that is my beef with Coutinho. In the Hull game, he showed us who he currently is as a player. In the same game, he had an assist, a quality goal, missed a sitter and played misplaced passes when it seemed a simple pass into the space for the player to run on to, would have sufficed. This is the inconsistency many want him to correct because he has all the tools and work ethic to be indeed, world class.

25 Sep 2016 06:49:21
Hi Ed01. Wanna ask you if you're ok with it. And yes you have shared with us previously your thought about this. It's about Henderson. I felt that he have changed a lot since. He seems more "fierce", more vocal, and really upped his confidence. I didn't watch the Chelsea game, so I put my my most attention on him during yesterday's game, especially because of the spectacular goal he scored versus Chelsea. One occasion he seems shouted at Lallana to let the ball pass for him to shoot. Though he didn't score with that shot, I thought that was a good sign of him being very confident. He was neat, very neat actually, IMO. Yes he didn't make any fancy through pass or chip or whatever, but his side passes, though they might look like they are slowing the game a bit, I felt they are more like giving some calmness to the lads or the play. Maybe I am being exaggerating, since I really like him, but really wanted to know your opinion, if you don't mind of course. Thanks Ed01.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - I think he has always done that, it is just that people do not seem to have noticed it in the past. Maybe he is just more obvious now than in the past, but I do not see that much of a difference, personally.}

25 Sep 2016 11:04:00
It is a total myth. A couple of years back I remember him shouting at Gerrard during a game and thinking to myself "Jesus, even Carragher didn't have the bottle to do that".

He do is a born leader. He has practically coached Emre Can through every game they've played as a partnership, protected the younger lads in the team with the odd meaty challenge to warn off the thugs etc.

He might not be as inspirationalas Gerrard, and he certainly cannot win games by himself. But what he is better than Gerrard at is being a genuine vocal leader. He is also far superior at game management. There was another time where he almost tore someone's head off for losing possession instead of taking it into the corner when we we're winning late in the game.

We as a collective actually do not realise how lucky we are to have such a selfless player and a world class leader. He plays wherever he is asked and never complains. As long as it is what is best for the team, that is his primary concern. He may not be a world class player but being a captain is about more than just scoring work does every week. And Hendo has hit a few screamers in his time to be fair to him anyway!

25 Sep 2016 12:21:23
Its his time now as he is in the spotlight with stevie suarez carra all gone.

I beleive by hendo not playing cost us the league under Rodgers.
Very important player who has played a lot while injured .
Him not playing cost Hodgson the English job.

25 Sep 2016 13:04:23
MK, I could not agree with your post enough. I think many of his detractors have been unfair to Hendo since he replaced SG (their idol? ) as captain. They seem to measure his ability and leadership qualities to SG whereas SG had NO leadership qualities and tho he's has more ability than Hendo, Hendo is more effective with the ability he does have. The boy is selfless, a workaholic, a leader and commands genuine respect amongst his teammates and the coaching staff. Done know if SG commanded as much respect but maybe the Ed can educate me on that. All you MK, described is exactly why Hendo is and will be captain of LFC and why his detractors (those who continuously blame him for no reason anytime we don't win) need to get over it ASAP or they'll remain bitter for the rest of their lives.

25 Sep 2016 14:32:54
Agreed Hamilton. He isn't Gerrard and should not be judged on his ability to score loads of great goals and single handedly win games. He should be judged on his own game, and his own qualities; of which there are a lot.

25 Sep 2016 22:35:05
mk scouser your right it was the west brom game at home we won 2 1 a game which hendo scored i remember him screaming at stevie we had the ball in the corner in control an stevie tried one of his crosses into mario hendo ate the bake off him that's just was u want from every player in the squad the balls to give the captin a blocking when he desreves it.

Join the club's membership scheme and check the ticket avaloability section. You will usually have to build up points based on previous attendance but you might get lucky. It's a good place to start mate.
