Hi eds1 just wondering when's the next sharkopod coming out?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I would behalf to do LFC first but right now the fans are not interested in what is going on but just want to trash everyone

26 Oct 2017 00:39:35
Please Ed002 do ours first!

{Ed002's Note - I will if you all stop whining like pre-pubescent girls.}

26 Oct 2017 00:04:56
I'd love a new sharkopod Ed002 and I'm sure the majority would as well.

{Ed002's Note - I am travelling this week, perhaps one next week.}

26 Oct 2017 05:56:59
Literally can not promise that will happen ed 002. Soz!

26 Oct 2017 07:53:51
Whatever Ed002. Boys are pigs. You don't get me. I just can't even, right now. #girls #girlpower #selfie.

25 Oct 2017 21:02:54
Naby Keita just been sent off for Leipzig versus Bayern that's his second red card this season so far.

Looks like he has Discipline Problems that's all we need.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - it is not his 2nd, he had 2 in the first couple of weeks after the window shut.}

25 Oct 2017 21:17:37
I told him not to take tips from Ramos!

25 Oct 2017 21:35:39
Let's hope when he comes here he gets his head down, can't be doing with that.

25 Oct 2017 21:51:46
He’s not a Liverpool player yet, don’t worry about it.

25 Oct 2017 20:30:34
The Cavalry are on the way Boys, Jurgen in the January Transfer Window will sign two centre halfs who are TWINS and currently play in Chinese League there names are WHY MEE and KNOTT HIM?

You heard it first here even Macca doesn't know yet!

Believable13 Unbelievable5

25 Oct 2017 22:40:07
I thought we'd been looking at Tu Mi and Tu Yu?

26 Oct 2017 00:30:58
I personally prefer Hi so Gud and Wi gon Win.

26 Oct 2017 00:50:52
Nah we've been scouting Sum Ting Wong and Ai Bang Mai Ni - so my source tells me anyway :) Both of which are top quality CB's.

26 Oct 2017 01:18:05
I heard we will sign "No fokin won" from South Korea in January.

26 Oct 2017 04:51:24
Nice bit of casual racism.

26 Oct 2017 05:14:03
Susan, My love. Just enjoy the funny side.

26 Oct 2017 05:26:06
Oh, yes. You're right, it was hilarious all along. My mistake.

26 Oct 2017 05:38:36
Yay casual racism mocking the names and accentuation of another country, good times. I thought this sort of humour died out with Bernard Manning.

26 Oct 2017 05:41:02
Appreciate that.

26 Oct 2017 10:31:39
It's just British humour Susan. Apologies on everyone's behalf if you've taken offence. We do it to ourselves as well though. My favourite joke is brutal.

Why wasn't Jesus born in England? Because God couldn't find 3 wise men or a virgin.

And the poor Irish? If i had a pound for every Paddy joke i know, I'd be a wealthy man!

26 Oct 2017 12:04:22
Haha nice one MK🤠. But don't break Susans heart, she is mine. 😻.

26 Oct 2017 12:06:01
That's okay MK, you don't need to apologise for other people. I've lived in England myself for few years in the past so I know about this kind of humour. I'm not worried about it, but just a little weird seeing it in public and people don't seem to see the problem with it. Obviously that kind of "humour" exists here too but I think it's something you keep private and among friends to show at least a little respect. Don't think people would say these things to people face to face.

25 Oct 2017 18:27:07
Hi eds, any reason do you think that Solanke isn’t getting much of a look in?
Looks like a decent all rounder to me!
Ta.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is playing most games. Not sure what you expect, he is still young.}

25 Oct 2017 20:57:55
Against Leicester he looked like he was bothered by physical approach of there centre backs like moaning too ref when tackled, he needs too develop a mean an nasty side if he wants too play up front I like wat he has though hope somehow he gets a goal sure that would boost him and time too develop.

25 Oct 2017 22:23:40
Like Ed001 said, he's still young, he has time to develop more, which is why we're gradually putting him in, he's only been here 5 minutes he has to settle, I'd imagine him been quite vital in the future but he;s not ready just yet, he needs more time, at least Klopp keeps putting him in here and there. He is only 20, give him time to shine and I'm sure he will.

25 Oct 2017 17:44:21
Hi ed001. What's your opinion on Luke shaw mate? Seemed to be really promising player before the injury. It looks like mourinho doesn't rate him but seems like a klopp player bombing down the wings. Doubt united would ever sell to us anyway.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - has not adjusted well to going to a big club and is not putting in the work on the training ground. He put on a lot of weight and is not as fit as he should be. Avoid like the plague.}

25 Oct 2017 18:01:52
He is a free agent in the summer if united doesn't offer him a new contract along Herrera, Mata, Fellaini and Blind.

25 Oct 2017 20:34:07
They'd be daft to offer him a new contract, bugger that I wouldn't have him anywhere near our team. Remember all the hype about him joining UTD as well. In my opinion he just got lazy his head isn't in it at all.

25 Oct 2017 21:10:20
Problem is he came in, had a decent first 15 games as a teenager and then it all went to his head when he signed for a massive club for £30m. In 12 months he went from Saints U18's to being a millionaire in United's first team. It was an abhorrent and totally unjustified rise. He was decent for his age, but not spectacular. I said way back at the time he was on the same level as Brad Smith, but with more hype. Turns out i was wrong. Brad Smith is better, because at least he applies himself and is first choice for Australia, even if he isn't quite a Premier League player. He is a footballer which is more than Luke Shaw can say right now.

I never understood what people saw in Shaw that made him so different to other young left backs. He wasn't even the best left back in the Saints academy. That accolade belonged to Matty Targett who also hasn't quite made the grade. This is why you have to carefully manage most kids. For every Kane or Rashford who will fight to make it regardless, there is a Shaw or a Wilshere who just cannot be bothered once they get a big contract and are told they are the future of England! Sad, but that's the reality.

25 Oct 2017 22:14:41
You’re talking absolute nonsense again MK.

26 Oct 2017 00:37:48
Tezza-M - if he's talking nonsense then correct him? what did he say what is wrong?

26 Oct 2017 05:43:11
Well he said Brad Smith is a better player than Luke Shaw and, whilst Brad Smith may work harder, he is simply not. He also says Matty Targett was a bigger prospect - again this is simply not true. Adam is an interesting poster and always sparks lively debate, and I do enjoy reading his comments, but he has a tendency to grossly overexaggerate anything to make his point and this post above demonstrates this.

I do agree with the first part of the post though - Shaw moved too early, got too comfortable, has not got complacent and looks to be on a real downward trajectory. He will have to change his mindsent soon otherwise he will be yet another youngster who has squandered their huge potential. I genuinely believe, if he had the work ethic, that he would be absolutely top class.

25 Oct 2017 17:40:39
Is PSG still interested in coutinho? If so surely they would need to move on a few bodies to get him in for ffp (if it even exists) . Got me thinking who off there team we could get to improve our team. Draxler being one cavani and rabiot being others. Think rabiot would be excellent and what klopps plans are for next season playing with a striker or keeping firmino up top draxler could also be a great signing (still upset we missed out on him last season) . Before anyone starts my choice would be to keep coutinho but he will be gone summer at the latest. We need to start planning now. If I was klopp oblak
(agent) would be getting a call.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2017 18:03:26
We can't afford the wages of the likes of Cavani and Raboit i doubt they would ever consider selling. If Coutinho moves to PSG i think it will be straight cash.

25 Oct 2017 14:22:14
Academy player, Rhian Brewster, has just scored a hat-trick for England against Brazil, in the semi-final of the under-17 World Cup in India. Let's hope that he has a very bright future with us in the years to come and good luck to him and England in the final.

Believable26 Unbelievable1

25 Oct 2017 14:28:22
I'll go with that kloppite. Sounds promising.

25 Oct 2017 14:38:38
Scored a hat trick in the quarters as well. He has a lot of potential.

25 Oct 2017 14:46:53
He's on fire at the moment, well played kid.

25 Oct 2017 14:49:00
Consecutive hat tricks and been playing well in u23’s too. Looks a very useful player with good pace and movement, with the knack to be in right place at right time, create a half yard on his market and a clinical finish.

Hopefully his development continues.

25 Oct 2017 15:20:37
Best thing about him is he plays like Firmino. As in he presses from the front, links up in deeper positions and can play some deft passes and flicks in and around the penalty area. Difference is, he seems to be naturally sharper in front of goal.

If he carries his goal scoring record into senior football it'd be amazing but I'm holding off on being hopeful of his future for now. He has only played at youth levels thus far and you only have to look at Mellor, Nemeth, Morgan, or Sinclair to know that it is a whole different kettle of fish when you step up to play with men. Hopefully he gets a chance to prove himself over the next 12-24 months because he is a class above nearly everyone in his age category. He's been playing u23's since he turned 16, so the u17's WC was always going to be easy picking for him. It is beneath him to be honest, but fair play to him for being grounded enough to just want to play football, regardless of the level of opposition!

25 Oct 2017 15:40:57
Sinama pongolle got the golden boot at the U17 wc once.

25 Oct 2017 15:54:11
Very good point Benny. Men's football is just so much harder. That's why i have faith in Arnold, Woodburn, Solanke, Gomez and Grujic though. They've shown signs they can cope with it.

Arnold has looked assured on the ball, lethal from set pieces, and physically capable since stepping up into the first team on a regular basis. Though he is no right back, long term.

Woodburn has already scored in competitive senior games, and against top opposition in pre-season.

Solanke has scored goals in the Dutch first division at 18 and also against top opposition in pre-season for us.

Gomez was Charlton's best player by 18 and is already our best centre back in my opinion.

Grujic led Red Star Belgrade to the title, and has also performed well against top teams in pre-season.

So far there is no evidence to suggest that Brewster will cope with the step up. So whilst i would love it if he did, i will avoid any hype so i don't disappoint myself if he can't adapt! Does he deserve a chance though? Definitely.

25 Oct 2017 15:59:19
Well done to him but remember he might just have developed quicker than others. Let's not hail him as the greatest starlet just yet. Leave him to his craft and keep a quiet eye on him.

25 Oct 2017 16:37:49
Good point sbout those players Mk but sadly none of them except Gomez will get enough games to show their talent.
I feel Gurij is the next Markovic.

25 Oct 2017 16:47:05
Sounds like he has that instinct that can't be taught. That killer, goal scoring instinct that fowler had for example. Let's hope he has that professionalism that is just as important. He does sound promising though.

Does anyone know how that youngster we bought in the summer is doing? I can't rememberhis name but he looked like a little boy in the press conference. From eastern Europe I think. Was quite a big thing made of it so I thought he must be good.

25 Oct 2017 17:12:36
Good news is Woodburn signed a new long term contract :)

25 Oct 2017 18:43:17
Great news about woodburn. Hopefully he gets a few mins soon.

25 Oct 2017 20:16:19
England under 17s are managed by Steve Cooper who use to be liverpool under 18s Coach/ Manager left two years ago. Think Jurgen kicked him out of the door he also lost on penalties in European under17s FINAL this summer to Spain, who they could face in Final .

26 Oct 2017 01:35:36
Superred you may be talking about Tagseth? He’s playing no.8 for u18’s and doing well by all accounts.

In the u18’s/ u19’s I really like the look of Adam Lewis (converted from midfield and looking like an excellent LB now, and Camacho too. Jones and Millar look useful too.

U23’s have a few but I reckon Wilson, Dhanda, Virtue, Masterson, may all get a shot at some point.

We have a lot of talent at the academy but clearly there are only so many slots available and the step up is huge. I hope we arrange some strong loans next summer to get some of these kids some professional football at a place that will actually play them.

26 Oct 2017 05:49:23
Owen burst on scene too at 18yo. So it can be.

25 Oct 2017 14:16:41
We're in desperate need of some good news so I'm delighted to say that Rhian Brewster had just completed a hat trick in the semi finals of the u-17 world cup against Brazil. Well done lad.

Believable14 Unbelievable1

25 Oct 2017 14:06:37
make that another hatrick well done Brewster.

Believable13 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2017 14:05:25
Anyone seen LFC facebook page of fowler and maradona with the caption "he knew who i was, that's pleasing" thought it was a nice touch from god to recognise a lesser player.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2017 14:29:16
Too right Scarry houser.

25 Oct 2017 14:03:22
a hatrick in the quarter final and now Ryan Brewster has a double against Brazil in the semi in the u17s took his goals really well too👍👍.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2017 13:30:38
Hi All,

Brewster has scored twice for England U17 against Brazil in the U17 World Cup semi final. He is the top scorer in the tournament with 6 goals in 5 games now.

The second half starts again soon and you can watch on the BBC website for anyone who is interested in watching him.

I think he is the only Liverpool player in the starting 11? please someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

25 Oct 2017 13:27:35
Hi ed001 loe your articles mate. didn't think this site could get any better but your articles have done just that. don't worry not going to add to your massive list just a question. Is there any player who you don't know much about that you are really looking forward to researching.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - lots of them mate, it is surprising how little I knew until I started researching. Ferenc Puskas I knew so little I was embarrassed when I read his achievements that I could be so ignorant of a player quite so good.}

25 Oct 2017 15:35:10
given that ed would you put him in the same bracket of maradona, best, pele mate.

{Ed001's Note - you have to when you read what he did, especially under the circumstances, he was a supreme goalscorer.}

25 Oct 2017 16:05:32
Read something funny the other day.

When giroud shows his grand kida his goal highlights, there going to think he was better than pele. Hahaha.

25 Oct 2017 17:51:14
Is Pele on your list of articles, ed? It always feels like there's two camps of people, those who think he's the best ever and those who think that he was never truly tested as he stayed in Brazil most of his career before moving to the US. Would be really interesting to read your take on his career.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, he has to be in there for all the stuff after he retired as well, all the frauds etc.}

25 Oct 2017 18:02:27
That's true, didn't his son also get imprisoned for 30 years for dealing drugs or something? got to say Pele has always seemed shadier than Maradona to me, it's just that he's got better PR (I may be wrong though! ) .

25 Oct 2017 18:55:55
I know your list of players to do is huge mate, does Edgar Davids feature? What a player.

{Ed001's Note - it does now! Good shout, I loved him as a player.}

26 Oct 2017 18:10:26
Ed, Puskas was a god. I saw a documentary of the legendary Hungarian team he played for and saw the highlights of the 6-2 victory vs England at Wembley (a record till this day) and he scored such a brilliant goal that the defender he laid waste to afterwards said he had never seen someone with such quick feet. In the 1950 WC, Hungary was leading Germany 2-0 and Puskas who was injured in the semis, hit the bar and at 3-0, the game is over and that Hungarian team who had humiliated Germany in the group stages, would have won the WC at a canter. Alas, it was not to be. His exploits with Real Madrid next to the monument called Alredo Di Stefano is the stuff of legends.

25 Oct 2017 12:49:08
Did it have to come this far before klopp has had to take drastic action? What has mignolet and lovren done this time that is so different. They have been their usual selves and everyone knew this from the beginning of the season, and Klopp is only seeing this now? Our problems are deeper than just the players. Shifting the problem players aside won't cover up the poor defensive mentality that stems from Klopp.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

25 Oct 2017 13:39:35
Woah now. Don't criticise King Klopp. He's a bigger legend than King Kenny in this site's eyes. It's all the players faults. You know, the same players who played last season and got 4th place.

25 Oct 2017 14:29:33
The problem is that people are so taken by the personality of the man that we overlook the performance of the man. I don't see why fans are getting upset for criticizing Klopp, he is not beyond reproach just because of his past. Daglish got kicked out when he couldn't perform, we should be just a ruthless if we want success in our near future.

25 Oct 2017 14:30:38
You mean klopp the ex CB?

25 Oct 2017 15:58:45
Klopp isn’t beyond criticism but how can you legislate for errors of the magnitude of Sunday. It was worse than schoolboy defending and it had nothing to do with coaching or systems. It was just 2 players in particular who completely lost their heads in a big game and let the club down badly. Spurs were not even very good on the day but individual errors handed them the match on a plate. I disagree with the OP this was far worse than anything that has gone before. The mistakes that were made on Sunday are unforgivable and made it impossible for us to win the match.

25 Oct 2017 11:51:17
Hi what is markovich upto? i think he could improve his game watching playing and learning from salah? he had the requisites.
mane is injured could use him on one of the flanks? and drop coutinho back into the midfield? could earn his money i think? definitely think he is an option.

thoughts?
oh wait a minute is he actually at LFC?

Believable0 Unbelievable4

25 Oct 2017 12:13:19
I thought he was pretty good at Hull. I'm sure he could do a job. Maybe he hasn't made any mates at lfc? I dunno, he is surely good enough for our bench. Ed any unusual reason why he is constantly frozen out? Or is it the obvious answer.

{Ed001's Note - he just does not offer any versatility. We can have Milner on the bench and he can cover there, right back, right mid, left mid, centre mid or Robertson who can play left back.}

25 Oct 2017 12:13:50
Markovic is still at the club, we wanted too much money for him the summer so Fiorentina and Watford looked else where. Watford struck gold because of that in signing Richarlison! Football is a funny old game in that way.

25 Oct 2017 12:32:53
Not needed then. Should have just sold him in the summer for an offer lower than our asking price. He will be worth even less after a year in the wilderness of reserve football.

25 Oct 2017 13:00:41
Pretty good at Hull?

The team that were relegated?

And he’s an option for us? 🤦🏻‍♂️.

25 Oct 2017 13:01:29
He's not good enough for us, he needs to go, should've been well gone by now, we should just accept anything for him and get rid.

25 Oct 2017 13:28:32
He is out of contract next season as well, the club can't sign players or sell them. We rejected an offer of around 25 million for Sakho at the start of the window, and then accepted basically the same offer when no one else came in late in the window. Those who do our negotiations play too much FIFA 17 or Football Manager and has lost touch with reality i think, so what does FSG do? they hire the chief executive of FIFA 17 to sign and sell players (Just kidding here)

25 Oct 2017 13:55:41
They were relegated yet Marco silva is still praised a lot, so much that many fans fancy him for lfc job should kloppget fed up or fired. Markovic and glucas were the two shining lights along with Robertson and harry maguire (he was hull wasn't he? I get him and Keane mixed up. Keane was burnley eh? )

Swansea nearly got relegated with siggurdson in the team and loriente who are high class players. Gibson is playing in championship (I think) and could easily play in over half the teams in Pl. I get eds point. Klopp does like versatility eh. Big reason he fancied Aoc I reckon. A lot of folk were down about signing the ox but I think he is going to play his best football for us. He is nowhere near his prime yet. A lot of time for improvement. His pace is blistering and it's not just mindless, pointless running, he has an end produc. It was the one of two positives I took from spurs, we got a glimpse of the real ox and moreno was one of our best players along with salah and gomes and ox. I hope moreno form is permanent. OK he ain't amazing but good enough the way he is playing. Ed025 said it well the other day. "Good for moreno" that is true. It's the change that is surprising and lack of goal conceding mistakes. For me he is in top five lbs in prem atm

*on phone to alberto moreno* I want that grand today Alberto!

26 Oct 2017 12:31:19
I still think he could a job in place of injured mane. he has the pace and skill i think.
and it allows coutinho to be dropped in mid so adds creativity to the mid and enables can / hendo/ milner to just sit deep and protect back CBs.
sry just looking at options and what could be done.
i feel markovic can still save his LFC career if given a lifeline. i mean lallana and mane are out till december so, he can be tried for november.

25 Oct 2017 10:41:57
Hi eds, hoefully you are able to answer this for me please, was Klopp fully back financially in the summer? Or was a large part of his spending going to have to be sales? Also is there any genuine interest in someone buying the club? Thanks in advance! :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes. I have dealt with the sale issue.}

25 Oct 2017 08:38:35
Mornings eds/ all hope it's a good day for you all!

Believable8 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, same to you too.}

25 Oct 2017 08:56:48
Thank you Ed001 :)

{Ed001's Note - my pleasure mate, should hopefully have the Puskas pieces up at some point today. The profile and article are done, just need to do the accompanying podcast and then upload them all.}

25 Oct 2017 09:28:58
Oh fantastic, was waiting for that hoping it'd be this week, cheers mate looking forward to that.

{Ed001's Note - my throat is about all that is holding things up now!}

25 Oct 2017 10:41:14
Hi corleone, good lad. Hope you're well mate.

25 Oct 2017 10:48:39
Thank you Superred mate, I am :) hope you are too!

25 Oct 2017 11:22:04
Not bad corleone. I been up all night playing my old ps3! Retro eh lol. Fifa 11. We have torres and Gerrard. Kuyt. My thumb is killing me. Not played it for ages, only when my little cousin comes round. Chelsea fan! I know, I've tried to teach him but they are his team and I respect him for that. So yeah a bit tired but pretty cool.

25 Oct 2017 11:29:56
Actually if i had a son i would buy him a man city shirt, no reason for him to suffer mentally :P hehehe.

25 Oct 2017 12:18:47
Lol Superred if it wasn't for me having a newborn mate I'd be doing the same!

25 Oct 2017 13:03:10
How old does it make you feel when people think “retro” is playing PS3?

25 Oct 2017 13:06:10
my kids already hate me for making them support Liverpool. sometimes my wife ask me " did they play Crap again? "

25 Oct 2017 13:16:37
Hahaha Jim that's true mate lol.

25 Oct 2017 13:59:59
How you sleeping corleone? Hard at first with a bubba eh. Shock to the system. It starts getting proper intense when they start becoming people and talking and having dreams, reflections and ambition! Good luck dude, congratulations. Little Liverpool shirt?

25 Oct 2017 12:08:44
It starts with the city shirt. Then it's the liam gallagher hair style, then it's the strut and before you know it he will be calling everyone man!

We are lucky to love a team that has genuine domestic and European ambitions. We should count ourselves lucky. No disrespect ed025 buddy. I honestly feel for you lot. Well a little bit. Scouser's shouldn't be in the bottom three. Let's be honest this league belongs to Everton and arsenal) you must get vertigo when you look at the table! You'll be alright, no doubt. That is a crisis, not us. Count yourself lucky.

I am convinced there are some fans here who DON'T actually love lfc.

I hate this disposable, primark manager mentality.

If you lot (you who think klopp should be fired **mental**) owned man utd in 1990 you would have fired alex ferguson. Think about that. Go on actually think about it. How long it takes to develop rough diamonds into world beaters. And the rewards for being patient. Liverpool have never been the kind of club to change manager all the time. Dalglish and hodgeson were quite quick turn overs but what we need these days is stability. Sacking a manager is so bad for a club, it has a terrible effect of course. You are saying it because "I want, I want, I want, I don't want that one" ridiculous, it's actually pretty immature.

26 Oct 2017 10:31:50
Superred82 sorry mate I missed your post - Yeah sleepless nights just a bit mate didn;t get to bed till 3 then up again at 5, wonderful lol but not too fussed to be honest it's all part of it :) -Thank you mate :) lol I was going to get him the Liverpool away shirt but with him growing rapidly at this stage I thought I'd leave it till he's about 6 months or so otherwise he'd grow out of it too quick. It frustrates me how expensive they are though, robbing buggers!

25 Oct 2017 06:56:13
I was thinking about a couple of unsung heroes for us.

Baros and crouch.

Anyone got any others? Lucus of course .

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - peter beardsley..

25 Oct 2017 07:29:16
dirk kuyt? i don't think anybody else got a hat trick for us against united.

25 Oct 2017 07:54:05
Vladamir Smicer, what a guy.
Just for a laugh: Boronin, Kewell and Aquaman.

25 Oct 2017 08:04:05
Steve Finan.

25 Oct 2017 08:28:59
I'd take Crouch back in a heartbeat! One of my favourite players.

25 Oct 2017 08:34:57
Yeah I liked Crouch, he gave it his all every single game, him and Kuyt. Far too many to list though.

25 Oct 2017 08:41:23
Riise.

25 Oct 2017 09:28:12
Agger and Riise.

25 Oct 2017 09:48:58
Dudek.

25 Oct 2017 09:52:12
I'm saying Carragher.

All the years where Gerrard took the plaudits for being "the leader" and "single handedly winning finals" etc. Carragher was 3 times the leader Gerrard was, and he kept us in the Champions league final. Half the player maybe and Gerrard led the team in other ways, but Carra never got the recognition or respect mainly internationally and amongst other fans, but also amongst small sections of our own fans who wanted him replaced on multiple occasions and only realised how shocking our defence was when he retired and it all fell apart.

Not completely unappreciated as 3/ 4 of the Liverpool fan base loved him, but outside of that he never got enough credit. How many people had Carragher on their shirt? I'm sure some people did, but From 2004-2017 All i've seen in the flesh is Gerrard, Torres, Carroll, Coutinho, Firmino and Suarez! CARROLL!

That list says it all really. Almost all defensive players are undervalued. So Finnan and Lucas are also great shouts for me.

25 Oct 2017 10:03:03
Hamann and Finnan.

25 Oct 2017 10:36:03
MK i always bought the Agger shirt. and i bought one sinama pongelle shirt believe it or not. I think i was the only one :P.

25 Oct 2017 10:47:48
I always rated Benayoun. Rodriguez and Bellamy (second spell) were handy too.

25 Oct 2017 10:55:43
Crouch's goal to game ratio for England is up there with the best.

Dirk kuyt is a brilliant shout. Loved him, in the same way I love Bobby firmino.

Finnan came up a fair bit, what about babbel? The right back/ centre back. German I think, well he is German defo. Part of our last great defence. babbel, henchoz, hypia and? Didn't carragher play lb?

Dudek for sure. I will always love that man. Rise was pure class in his prime. Smicer was a favourite of mine, styled my play on Ian rush as a kid, used to buy "shoot" every week and practice Ian rush's techniques. They had a different thing every week. I learnt how to drop my shoulder to go past a man, how to send the keeper the wrong way. loads. I was a fairly decent Sunday league player. Top goal scorer for our team, still got the trophy. But as I got a bit older I used to watch Smicer and try and copy his style, I was a winger. We played 4 3 3.

Stephan henchoz for sure.

Hanman. not really unsung for me. He was a world class cm when he played for us and had a glittering career with Germany.

Baros was poor for a while (like crouch, it took ages for their first goal) but he proper found some form when we won the treble. Was a clever player.

25 Oct 2017 11:01:48
Cb must be the least popular shirt though mk. It's not just carragher it's all cbs, unless they are amazing. I've seen quite a few carragher 23 shirts though

I was hoping you would answer my post mk, who else would you say without being ironic mate?

25 Oct 2017 11:25:07
Benayoun is a top top shout. What a player. Nice one rbbb.

25 Oct 2017 12:31:14
We'll aside from all defensive players like focused on initially, there have also been a few attacking players who never got their due respect.

Crouch, Benayoun, Kuyt etc as has been mentioned are all fair shouts. Another attacker who never got much love was Babel. He wasn't a great player, but he was a good impact sub for us with a pretty decent minutes to goal ratio. Not quite good enough, but he loved the club and had some truly memorable moments.

To put forward a handful of midfielders; Alonso was not fully appreciated until he was gone. Everyone credited Mascherano with protecting our defence, but it turned out he was actually doing a lot of nothing! Everyone thought Gerrard was the key to launching our attacks, but it was actually Alonso. I don't think we respected just how good he was until it was too late. We knew he was good, but he was the composer to a well orchestrated team and when he left weren't the same and still haven't really recovered. The season he left was the season we fell to pieces, and the year Real Madrid suddenly started challenging Barcelona again. No coincidence. He was the best midfielder of his era for me.

Another is Momo Sissoko. What i would give for a player like him back in the team today. He was so under rated.

Finally I'll put forward Danny Murphy. Was he exceptional? No. But i tell you what, he was always good for a goal against Man United and that alone makes him a cult hero for me. He was better at the close range free kicks than Gerrard for me. He could curl a ball and get it up and and back down as good as anyone from a set piece. People seem to forget he even played for us at times though!

25 Oct 2017 12:40:42
Arbeloa.

25 Oct 2017 12:50:26
Patrick Berger?

25 Oct 2017 13:02:04
Was a fan of Djibril Cisse,

25 Oct 2017 14:16:21
Cool as f*** mk. I loved sissoko and of course alonso. You're right, he was somehow second fiddle to Gerrard and possibly hanman earlier. My
memory ain't great, alonso and hanman were at lfc together were they not? I totally forgot about sissoko. Yeah that's what we need. Hopefully keita can bring that dynamic.

I was going to mention babel but I know he is not that highly thought of here. I thought he was brilliant. Skillful as you like, scored some important goals and some great goals. Where znd why did he go?

Wright (cb)
Readler (cf)
Westerveld (gk)

Pat berger was a brilliant shout BTW

I loved Danny Murphy BTW. One of most underrated players ever for us. Talkabout versatile, I remember him playing up front! You alwaysknew he wouldn't miss a penalty. I tell you how I'd describe him: a very intelligent footballer, cunning as a light house rat.

Omg! I got a good one: Gary McCallister. Leg end. That long range free kick he tucked into the near post was bloody genius.

25 Oct 2017 14:26:39
Sorry Superred, but Gary Mac wasn't under-rated by anyone at Liverpool! We knew he was class!

Under-rated:
Ronnie Whelan
Mark Lawrenson
John Scales
Stephane Henchoz
Steve Finnan
Jamie Carragher
(until he broke his leg at Blackburn and we all realised what he brought to the team)

25 Oct 2017 14:43:30
Fair enough Jim but I thought he deserved a mention. It's not really underrated players it's unsung heroes (if you read the first post) and they are very similar but essentially not the same thing. I always liked Gary, being half Scottish as I am but I wasnt 100% when we signed him for a cool Mil. Thought he was passed it but his cool head was a massive bonus for us. We wouldn't have done that treble without mcCallister.

25 Oct 2017 14:47:52
I'm not sure lawrenson is an unsung hero? He is one of the most celtbrated defenders in the history of the game. Scales ix a decent shout. Henchoz would be possibly my number one unsung hero. Hypia took all the plaudits while henchoz took all the balls in the face. Was well underwhelmed when we signed the two cbs and well chuffed that Xmas when we had shipped only 11 goals or something like that.

25 Oct 2017 14:51:33
Ronnie whelan was pure class. Again not sure about unsung or underrated. I think all the first team players from that generation are generally celebrated by football fans all over the country. They were unplayablemost of the time. That really was a wave of red shirts flooding forward. What a sight. What a scare for defenders.

25 Oct 2017 18:22:02
Super red-I thought Baros was a disappointment for us, he did okay but I was really exited when we signed him, we beat a lot of other big clubs for him and he looked a great prospect. He was a decent finisher but his head down style meant his link up play and vision wasn't very good, although personally he is a legend to me as I had a few quid on him winning the golden boot at euro 2004 at 50/ 1!
My unsung heros would be Crouch, Henchoz, Lucas, Finnan.

25 Oct 2017 18:58:13
Henchoz.

25 Oct 2017 06:41:19
Hey ed. If you a chance/ time could you write a review on the 94/ 95 Ajax team. There's a few decent players in that line up for you to talk about. Cheers ed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I have added that to my to do list, cheers mm.}

25 Oct 2017 07:54:46
And in your spare time Ed001, my car needs washing and my lawn needs mowing :)

{Ed001's Note - you have a car and a garden? Oh how the other half live!}

25 Oct 2017 10:31:45
Haha the dog needs walking the floor needs sweeping c'mon ed these are all jobs u should be doing
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - sorry boss, right on it boss....}

25 Oct 2017 11:04:36
Ed01 the articles are excellent mate, proper professional but without the censorship. They are cool to read so therefore they are well worth doing. Keep up the good work my friend. Thank you for your effort, it is certainly appreciated at my end bruv.

25 Oct 2017 11:04:36
Ed01 the articles are excellent mate, proper professional but without the censorship. They are cool to read so therefore they are well worth doing. Keep up the good work my friend. Thank you for your effort, it is certainly appreciated at my end bruv.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much mate. I am really glad people enjoy reading them.}

25 Oct 2017 11:26:11
They're great man.

{Ed001's Note - hopefully you will still be saying the same after the next one!}

25 Oct 2017 11:32:23
Your articles are the best because they are very very accurate. Have you seen enough of George Weah to write about him? Or Abo-Treika? He lead Egypt to 3 consecutive african cups from 2006-2010.Thanks for everything you do.

{Ed001's Note - Weah is already on the list and I have added Abo-Trieka. I don't feel I have ever seen enough of the players to just write on them from what I have seen to be honest. I do a lot of research for these articles, from reading about them to watching footage. Thankfully we have the world's greatest library in the internet to help with research.}

25 Oct 2017 11:32:28
Yeah they are pretty good ed 001 by the way very very enjoyable
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

25 Oct 2017 12:10:02
Thank you very much man :)

{Ed001's Note - my pleasure mate, it is great to watch these legendary players and read about their lives. So I enjoy it too, especially the ones I know little about.}

25 Oct 2017 12:25:42
They're good because ed has no agenda apart from writing an objective truthful article. He can proper dig a player because there is no censorship and no editor (I presume) saying "you can't say that Tris" I'm quite jealous, what a cool thing to be doing! Researching old football legends and constructing an interesting piece of writing. I always learn something I didn't know when I read em.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, I guess you are right on that, there is no one but me to decide what can go in, which does put a lot of onus on me to make sure I double check and triple check anything in them.}

25 Oct 2017 16:54:10
Re-reading a lot eh, so what you working on atm dude?

{Ed001's Note - apart from waiting for some quiet so I can record the Puskas podcast, I am just reading up more stuff on how the college system works in the US and also something non-football related. Next after Puskas will be the 3rd and final part of the piece on midfielders though.}

25 Oct 2017 03:14:19
I sense tide turning for Klopp, he is fast using up the goodwill credit built up over 1st 2 years.

Believable5 Unbelievable8

25 Oct 2017 06:54:10
No he isn't. There isn't much more I can say. We have lost three games out of fifteen or something. It isn't title winning form but it's very far from a disaster. We have been so good against top six sides in recent years and now we expect to beat them every time.

It's people keep slowly wanting to fick our club up by getting rid of our decent manager and becoming a headless chicken. Have some bloody patients, for God sake, I know it's hard for you youngsters, with everything you want is at a touch of a button. Rome wasn't built in a day. The fergie man utd wasn't built in two years. We are going to lose games, it's football. It's so lame when people say this s**t every time we don't win a game.

Forget the new winger he signed who is scoring in every game he plays. Forget the development of hendo, lxllana, coutinio, can.

The keeper situation is a problem. I think klopp is a nice guy who things migs earned a chance after last season late form. Surely he must be dropped. Spurs first goal happened because harry kane slyly fouled lovren when he tried to head the fairly easy ball. Watch it and see how kane pushes lovren with his butt. If that goal didn't happen that game would have been very different.

25 Oct 2017 07:22:10
Superred, I appreciate the glass half full mentality but there's a massive wiff of denial in your post. It's not just the losses, it's the lack of wins. It's not just bad luck, it's the lack of any real action to change our fortunes. It's not the signing that's doing well, it's the ones that aren't.

If we get to the end of the season and we're no better off than where we started then Klopp has literally failed. He's now in a fight to prove he's the manager we all want him to be.

25 Oct 2017 07:57:26
Hmm, read Superred's post and think : "right on", then read PutneyRed's post and think "fair point". I'd make a crap politician.

25 Oct 2017 08:41:49
Sounds like you'd make a good politician, Burkey! What i would give to have a local MP who can see both sides of an argument and listen to and respect contrasting opinions. Instead we either get a liberal pansy, or racist old man! Fancy running for the Northampton MP mate? You got my vote 😂.

25 Oct 2017 11:09:15
Look, i am only going to comment about the development of Hendo part! What development is that? I am one of Jordan Henderson's biggest fans and the guy has regressed big time, he is being played in a position not his natural one and the injury problems have clearly hindered him but he has not improved at all since klopp took over but in fact gone backwards, and regarding the winger he signed who scores in every match, by the same logic Brendan Rodgers should have stayed because he signed Coutinho? And btw if it was up to Jurgen Klopp we would have had Julian Brandt not Mohamed Salah, just ask ed002.

25 Oct 2017 11:15:07
Lol mk. If we finish fourth this season I would consider that a successful year, especially if we get out of our group in ucl. I really believe the champions league is klopp's and liverpool's main priority now. We look so much more fresh in ucl and better drilled and motivated. I would take fourth place right now. Sad coz I thought this might be our year. Although literally EVERY season I have thought this will be our year. Gerrard slip actually broke my heart. Felt like seeing a bird you love with another guy. It physically hurt in my chest.

We missed out on two MASSIVE players in the summer and we are paying for it. It was a weird summer as all the clubs wee minted. TV money. If and when we get keita and vvd and also a good keeper I think we have a title challenge on our hands.

25 Oct 2017 13:10:10
Hendo has changed from an attacking RM into a highly accomplished number 6. He has been getting better and better. I used to think he was a mistake but over the past two/ three years he has completely won me over. FirSt name on the team sheet for me.

25 Oct 2017 14:00:12
can we please stop with the argumentbof 3 loss on 15 games. its really pathetic, firstly dropping the that level of mediocrasy and being happy about it. secondly saying everyone around us except mancity is crap so we can be crap too. this subborness will ruin us as a club as a fan base.
missing target? every team does, kloop bought the players he wanted and messses with the other one - again gis own fault. what changes in his game plan has he made since last season
yes i will be very happy to finish 4th not because we have real crappy players but because our manager us stubborn enough to realise that something is wrong just like majority on this site.

25 Oct 2017 14:26:42
I think we have been unlucky this year. We create tonnes of chances so I'm not worried. Worst displays this season were Newcastle, we were piss poor and sadly Danny sturridge failed to score after being handed a goal on a silver platter. Five yards out. Not like him to miss. Leicester when we went out of milk cup. And city of course. We were well beaten by spurs but we didn't play THAT bad. We weren't good but it was better than newcastlet and Leicester. In all the other games we have been the better side and played some near perfect football at times (hoffenhiem) we got a few new faces, the Spanish speaking players may not be so close knit now pc is going, maybe they begrudge klopp not letting couts get his dream move. I'm guessing completely but there is something different to last season. We miss lallana. How many times have I said those three words.

24 Oct 2017 23:06:28
Ed's do you think Conor Masterson will ever make it into the first team. Here in Ireland we have High hopes for him. He has been included in the cl squad and has trained with the 1st team a fair bit.

He is a big centre half who can play a bit too. He was signed from a schoolboy club Lucan utd I believe. The deal was done when he was 13 and could be potentially up to a million for the club. However I haven't seen him play just heard good things. Is he good enough and Do you think he will get a chance this season? Surely can't be any worse than our cbs now!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is very difficult to tell with defenders, particularly centre backs, as the development tends to be slower and they emerge later. If we were in a better position and playing well, I think he would have got a chance by now. His only chance this season now looks like being an injury crisis, as managers usually turn to experience when things are not going well.

Long term I would expect him to be gradually bled into the team over the next few years and given some chances to see what he can do. I hope so anyway, he is talked of in glowing terms.}

25 Oct 2017 07:19:12
Reminds me of a certain conor coady, not exactly the same position but he was talked in glowing terms too. Next captain, too accomplished, next gerrard what not.
Youngsters have simply been wasted by LFC over the last decade.
There were so many who were talked in high regards but never made anything anywhere.
I am excited with the current crop of youngsters and u-18's we have, seeing u-23's. there is some ridiculous talent there in - woodburn, wilson, ovie, grujic, masterson, dhanda, brewster, grabara, juanma, and now tasgeth.
so many players! will they ever see light of the day at LFC? i am not sure under our current circumstances anybody gets a run.
i would want to give woodburn, grujic and wilson a first team run, they for me look first team ready.

25 Oct 2017 11:18:54
Jack Robinson
Jordon Ibe
Conor Coady
Jordan Rossiter
Thomas Ince
Jerome Sinclair
Dani Pacheco
Ryan Mclaughlin

and many many others were all pinned to be the next great player and was praised beyond belief by many but the reality is people overate the youngsters all the time because they simply fail to understand the huge huge gap between youth football and real football.

{Ed001's Note - that is not actually the issue in the case of most of those. Robinson had attitude issues after showing he could easily cope with senior football. Rossiter had major injury problems and is still suffering with them now. Ince had a stinking attitude, as did Sinclair. McLaughlin had injury problems and Pacheco just never got an opportunity to know one way or the other.}

25 Oct 2017 11:43:43
But why is it so ed 01, i don't think at present there is any club worse than LFC in bedding youth from academy in first team.
i mean our neighbors are good at it.
Trent is getting fair chances i think but probably beacuse Clyne has gone AWOL.
we have unbelievable talent in academy and i can vouch for it having seen them play on TV and in person. Wilson, woodburn and grujic are first team material, may be not week in week out, but against say lesser oppostion they are more than just good.
out for future i think Dhanda and brewster are going to be special.
But will they ever be integrated in to the first teams?
We are out of EFL and this is what i feared most, no chances for these players anymore.
I know the what if case in our current situation. the team and coach are under tremendous pressure and if we start these players it might do more harm than good. But i think, no i believe its time to get into regular first team football. and yea probably coutinho, firmino, hendo are too big a name to be dropped.
i still feel once mane got injured either of woodburn or wilson should have got a chance instead of moving coutinho from midfield out wide. Gini/ hendo should have been replaced by grujic.
every year these players get older with no first team experience and then it gets way to late ( ala pacheco, coady before brannagan and kent now) . coutinho, can are just passing time, and we have their adequate replacements in wilson/ woddburn and grujic/ ejaria but without them getting chances we are just going to end up wasting loads on replacements from other teams.

{Ed001's Note - the fault has to be laid at the door of the managers. They are the ones that pick the team, successive managers have gone for quick fixes instead of long term solutions.}

25 Oct 2017 12:27:16
And that is my biggest grief with Klopp. For all his undoings and not sorting things the only thing i hate is how is just a shadow here of what he was at dortmund. At dortmund he favoured youth big time, played youth and made players.
At liverpool although only too seasons in and may be the relentless pressure in EPL he has not even bothered with any youth. (bar trent because clyne is AWOL) This current crop is so difficult to ignore.
i mean answers are right there at his academy sitting and waiting and he sticks with can/ coutinho/ lovren/ moreno's/ migs. ( not saying the are bad players but they are just passing time tbh) Five players in first team who he knows are not going to be here next season.
I wish for once Klopp throws his weight around and gets the youth in. too much talent there for his eyes to miss.
Maybe it won't work, this season it is not working anyways. i mean hell even mourihno is going around with lingaard and rashford!
Klopp has been no different in any regard to our recent past managers till now, when pressure has come on him he has been reluctant to make big calls.
i don't know how but i feel if this season if we donot try woodburn wilson and grujic gomez masterson it will be too late next sesaon because we will be looking for clear replacements for departing players (can/ coutinho/ lovren/ migs/ moreno/ others who might be moved like clyne/ milner and may be even mane if someone big comes in calling etc etc. )
The time is high and the calling is right. Klopp has to trust his academy players, he has to push them and he has to trust them.
