I would love to see Alberto start tomorrow but I trust BR. If he doesn't start it means he's not ready yet. people say a lot of negative things about BR (why? I don't know.) But the one thing that you cannot criticise him on is his trust in the youth.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have a feeling Henderson will be attacking midfielde hopefully swapping with Gerrard

I really hope tomorrow we play with a bit more energy and really get in the faces of West Brom. We need are high pressing game to return. Southampton doing it great at the moment, Rodgers needs to get this point across to the players. Very positive for the game, come on the reds!

I think its too early to make such conclusions after one season

Rodgers is making it up as he goes along why did he spend £25 mill on deadline day for 2 centre backs not June or July players could have left but the last day aspas Alberto poor cissokho looks average sakho is quality but not needed still no cover for Lucas and one winger at the club last season cen backs out wide now 3 Playing 4 one game he's a novice he hasn't got a clue

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Fine by me when we're third in the league.
Some mistakes, yes, but the table never lies as they say.
Keep the faith

Agree0 Disagree0

Your clueless mate clueless

Agree0 Disagree0

Well aren't you a ray of sunshine?
Is this the same novice that has us, what 2nd? 3rd? In the league.
Aspas had a quality pre-season, struggled in the first few games (which we won anyway) and lost his place and is now injured. Alberto has played maybe 2 senior games, if that. He's young and one for the future and in the games he's played in he's looked decent. He certainly looked a class way above 'poor' when he bagged a hatrick for the u21's.

Again how many games has Cissokho played for you to make this judgement? And even if he turns out to be the wrong fit for our squad he's on loan so no harm done. Honestly I had trouble making out the final part of your post, but Ibe, Sterling and Moses makes more than one winger in my eyes and Rodger's clearly does have a clue.

Cheer up and support the team. (You really don't think that you'd have to say that when we're 2 points off the top.)

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on Steian. The fixtures don't lie either toddy.

25 Oct 2013 23:38:50
Do you ever pause to take a breath? Alberto is young and for the future, Cissokho is back from injury so how can you judge him? I can't understand the rest of what you have 'written'.
DM2013

Agree0 Disagree0

Steian and Ozone.

I don't believe people are still questioning BR. He's shown massive ambition by trying to sign some quality players over summer, who only didn't because they wanted immediate CL. He's breathed new life into our club, not just the first team. He and his team are executing their plan with aplomb and the results are steadily getting there. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has picked up toure on a free which is great business and mignolet has already doubled his value. Let's not forget he picked up coutinho and Sturridge only this year as well. Cissoko is cover for Enrique but only a loan so no real risk.Alberto needs more time. Sakho is a decent signing and with aggers track record of injuries is a good call. Aspas hasn't delivered as he did in pre season but cost less than 7m so was always going to be a squad player. Also let's not forget Moses on a free who again is a decent player. It also takes time for players to gel and understand each other's game. There has been a lot of players in and out and for us to be joint 2nd in late October is fantastic. The other big teams who have made several changes have struggled whilst players adapt to each other ie man city and spuds. The big test will be next week against the leaders. I fancy us to take 3 points at the emirates as we raise our game for the bigger teams.

i hope henderson uses fergusons stupid no need to say criticism of his running style as motivation to become the player kenny and brendan thinks he will be, a journalist said this morning that it was a compliment for the likes of rafa and Liverpool in general that we seemed to be mentioned so much by purple nose and that only the fact that we are a rival to be respected, is the reason we are mentioned to such a degree.i personally think ferguson knows we have a cracking player in midfield that is going to get better and better.so go and take another bottle of wine and worry about your own team and there new hoofball manager.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd post this on Utd. page but don't want to be seen winding them up. Fergie is the best football manager that has ever been. His trophy cabinet alone deserves that accolade. He did my head in at times but had to admire his achievements. But the release of his book and the things he's saying are making him look an ar$e! Disappointed in someone who has legendary status in world football - What has Henderson ever done to Fergie? Poor show and lacking class.

Agree0 Disagree0

The old man is retired and no longer relevant to us. If he wants to sell books by slagging people off then that will be the measure of the man.

I don't want Gerrard or Henderson, or anyone else from Liverpool biting on Fergusons last throw of the dice in some mind game where we lose concentration, become self conscious or negative.

United are struggling and that's what he as the ex manager should worry about, but he can't very well slag off the man he crowned as king (Moyes), not without looking to himself and admitting fault.

Agree0 Disagree0

I read the portion of the book where he said it, its just the media making a meal of it.nothing wrong with those comments

Agree0 Disagree0

I knew Ferguson would come out with this type of book. Going as far as to have a go at players that won him numerous trophies. Yet Fergie has this streak in hom. Remember when he tried to shaft John Magnier and JP McManus only to have his wings clipped. It would seem to me that money has more importance in his life, even at his age than the respect of others.

Agree0 Disagree0

Olliestontwo is spot on . old man and not relevant to us in any way, forget about him .

Agree0 Disagree0

Best football manager ever been? Errr sir bob? How many European cups?

Agree0 Disagree0

I know he's not relevant to us anymore, and we can't let his comments about us distract our season, but that doesn't take away from how ridiculous they were.
Criticising a young player who he has NEVER worked with is ridiculous. Scared of Henderson's obvious talent? Perhaps. let's not forget he's blasting a kid he tried to sign for Utd, and Jordan picked us.
We've all been through the Gerrard quotes and their stupidity, especially as he often tore Utd's midfield apart. World class player no doubt about it.
Think it just says a lot about him that in his own autobiography, where he should have so many stories to tell from what was admittedly a fantastic career, he has to dedicate a whole chapter to us. A club he's never been closer to than simply a rival. It's simply ridiculous in my opinion.

Eds, great work as usual, my question is how are these Academies in India and China being funded? May we see problems with the funding in years to come? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool will provide initial funding and then they will look to become self-funding through fees and sponsorship.}

is there anything like this in ireland north r south, scotland, wales I know collectively these countries in international results of late r doing bad but each 1 of them can throw out a gem that would be worth catching and I mean players that play till they r 18-20 and fall into drinking culture that exists when a really good player dosent get seen by anyone in the know, that could put them in the rd to being pro footballer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is Steve McMahon still working out there at the LFC Academy ed (001, if he's about)? {Ed001's Note - last I heard, though I would need to check to be sure, he was working for ESPN as a pundit and tipster in Singapore (I think it was Singapore). He was also presenting a TV reality show based around football for them. I believe that was in conjunction with work for LFC as a coach in an affiliated academy there.}

Eds.hoping Stevie g reverts to cam tmoro with hendo and Lucas behind also like to see Moses at lwb difficult game tmoro need to be at it for full 90 mins what's your opinion. Ynwa {Ed001's Note - Moses at left wing back would be suicidal, he has none of the tactical requirements to play there, plus he doesn't work hard enough for the team to make up for the lack of positional awareness. I would prefer only one holding midfielder myself, in Lucas, allowing both Gerrard and Henderson to push on. I have no problem with Cissokho on the left, he just needs a few games to find his feet. Though I would prefer us to revert to a back four without Coutinho and drop Skrtel and Sakho, to allow out best pairing, Agger and Toure, to play at the back.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good point but skertel is playing well and enquire may be fit Aswell we have options which is good just keep organised on set pieces we should be okay

Yes. Yes! YES! No. You had me with you right up until you suggested Moses for Left Wing back. He is physically capable. that's it though. I don't understand all this Cissokho hate? He is a great defender, and he'll displace Enrique if he can a) stay fit and b) find form. He is also quick, powerful and has a wicked cross. I really don't get why people are so fickle. He's played 1 game for us! Anyway, I hope we go back to 4-2-3-1 tomorrow. West brom are too compact to play without wide forwards. Suarez and Moses could shred them cutting in from the flanks or driving on to the byline. I would love a defence of Johnson, Toure, Sakho and Cissokho. I'd include Agger if West Brom didn't carry such an aerial threat. Sakho is superior here though. Lucas and Henderson need to play to counter Jacob and Mulumbu who are both very powerful players. Suarez, Gerrard and Moses should be behind Sturridge. That is good blend of Vision, skill, power and predatory ability. The 3-4-1-2 is only really useful against weaker opposition, or people who will come to attack us all game so we can hit them on the break. West Brom will sit deep though and hope to nick a goal or two from set pieces or counter attacks of their own.

Are we really playing well guys, I know you'll say the table doesn't lie but is it down to a decent start against poor opposition?
2 wins in the last 6 games and they were against the bottom two teams, Sunderland and Palace may show that we are being found out. Also no clean sheets in the last five games too even with the awesome centre backs that so many here are talking about. Poor result against 10 Man Newcastle and now the real top four are starting to kick in it looks a little ominous. We still have those poor second halves and a major lack of goals from rest of team outside the strikers. I know everyone says that's the job of the strikers but surely we expect goals from the rest of the team especially the. Midfielders. Just my thoughts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2013 11:14:06
If we reach top 4 this season, Suarez and sturridge will have to play blinders, I don't see anyone apart from thsoe tow to hit 10+ goals this seaosn.
we will certain to have injuries, let's pray those two remains healthy.

I disagree Harry. I think Gerrard will comfortably hit double figures, and I think Aspas, Moses, Hendo and Coutinho will come close. We need one more versatile forward who can add 15-20 goals a season and then our squad is complete (El Shaawary/Sanchez/Costa are all perfect, but unlikely). Then Rodgers will just have to iron out the defensive errors and maybe improve on a few positions every so often. I'd like him to find another midfielder who can instantly fight Lucas and Henderson. Gerrard will not be around forever. I'm not sold on Will Hughes though. I think he is excellent, but don't know if he will ever be suited to a midfield role. He usually plays wide or more advanced for Derby.

Gerrard would come close, If he plays futher forward, I don't think he is going to score goals played from DM position.
and If, Aspas, Moses, Hendo and Coutinho all socre, we don't need to buy anyone in jan and summer.
Countinho would get us some Assist, 100%
Aspas would only score If he is on the pitch.
Moses might score some, Untill he looses his position to sterling or IBE
hendo is a decent CM, who is struggling for gaols from 2 seasons, .
Sanchez/el sharway/costa are not going to happen, Even if we have millions in the bank, Costa is flying high in Madrid, El sharway would go to city or anyother team.
Sanchez too, will have options

Will Hughes, yes I would lvoe to see him, now that's what you call it as Potential,

Now Can I ask you something?, don't you think we should have bought Ince rather than Aspas?, Ince would get more game with us than Aspas, since Ince is a winger and aspas unfortunatly is a striker?
Ince would have scored a few goals.

And why did we bring Moses, when he is gona go next summer? If he clicks well, chelsea would get him back, If he didnt, then we loose our money.

I am not negative, let's have an open suggestion.

Hi Eds.

As Fergie has said we need 8 players to win the Title who would you love to see at the club as a sustainable option?

Also i'm currently playing Fifa 14 Legend mode and getting destroyed every game with Hull any chance of a few wonder kids haha :)

I think Djemba-Djemba, Bebe, Obertan, Anderson, Wes Brown, John O'Shea, Danny Welbeck and Ashley Young would really push us on personally.

As for your Hull City question, I cannot help. Did you expect much fielding Figueroa against Messi?

YNWAdam

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson is totally out of the question, ynwadam. You need to pay at least 30m for that kind of talent ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson is definitely worth £30 million, based on the number of burgers he has been eating.

Hope the guidetti rumors are true. At a low price like 5 million he's a bargain. This kid looks the real deal and if he flops we don't lose 35 million at least.

What are thoughts on Sakho so far? It looks like he is keeping Agger on the bench. There are moments when this looks great, but other times not (ie. when Sakho goes flying in, commiting himself too early. ). While I don't mean to question BR, it seems hard to believe that Agger is not one of our top 3 defenders (we play with 3 CBs now). Is it that big a deal that he and Sakho are left footed, or is it simply that BR thinks Agger is 4th best right now. We seem to be poor at set pieces, and while that cannot be laid directly at the feet of the three CBs, I would have thought we'd be better with the 3 big men.

Cheers,

Coop

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If you cast your mind back to last season Agger was at fault for numerous goals from set pieces losing his man. He is great with the ball at his feet, bringing the ball outfrom the back, something I think wr are lacking. It is I suppose natural when you pay such money for a defender (Sahko) that you feel he has to play.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe Agger, despite being a vice-captain has to win his position back if he wants to play. competition should improve them.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2013 14:06:46
Sometimes Competition would take you to another club. Lols

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Sakho has shown well considering he's new to the team and league. Yeah, the first few games he did seem to over commit himself, but he does seem to be settling that down. Physically I haven' t seen him beat and he offers a good amount of pace at the back. For a big guy, he's shown a nice range of passing and touch too. Pretty calm in the back, sometimes a few too many touches, but I can see that being improved with time and training in the team. The only negative I see in regards to his addition is the lack of communication he offers. Whether he has that ability down the road, I don't know.

Communication overall is what I feel is at fault for our lapse in focus and poor defending of set pieces. I too thought 3 CBs at minimum would make it difficult for opposition to score from set pieces. Definitely not the case. We don't have anyone really outside of Agger or Toure marshalling our back line. Because of this, I'd prefer Agger in place of Skrtel if we are going to play 3 CBs. Like some here, I'd prefer reverting back to 2 CBs ideally. Partnerships being either Sakho/Agger or Toure/Agger.
