For anyone wondering about our last match in champions league
Dortmund just blew a 4-0 lead to draw 4-4 wonder how klopp is feeling
I Would imagine not as bad now after our game tonight lol.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

25 Nov 2017 21:25:55
JJ, are you kidding me? I watched that game and after BVB got to a 4-0 lead, I thought it was over and I stopped watching. Just wow!

25 Nov 2017 21:51:44
would he care? probably not, and I'd hazard a guess that liverpool fans would eat him for breakfast lunch and dinner if he offered a suggestion of satisfaction with things because dortmund showed that they can lose a lead too!

lol but seriously, it does show that these things can happen. they really shouldn't but in football anything is always possible. we have a trophy in the cabinet as living testament to that.

25 Nov 2017 19:59:18
Am I the only person who gets irritated watching subs taking two minutes to strap their shin pads on when there is only five minutes left on the clock. How hard can it be to be ready? Well done Moreno by the way - did well today after the debacle on Wednesday.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

25 Nov 2017 20:08:02
Yeah they should be ready to come on straight away, he was warming up for 20 mins. Knew Klopp had to make a change but lallana was questionable to me.

25 Nov 2017 20:28:30
And well done to klavan best game in a red shirt shows what a continuous run in the team does.

25 Nov 2017 21:29:35
Spot on, OP. I don't know what is wrong w/ footballers of today. back in the day, a player warmed up with his shin pads on and socks tied up and ready to play so when he got the call, all he needed wa to take his track top off and on he went. Now, they waste so much time getting strapped and the 4th official and the ref don't help either as they dilly-dally before the change is made. Sometimes, a player does not come on until 3 mins after he is on the touchline waiting to come on. PATHETIC!

25 Nov 2017 19:28:40
Not the ideal result, but we're the only ones to have played the other 5 teams in the top 6 and we're 6 points behind second place.
What we need now is to win consistently.
YNWA!

Believable7 Unbelievable4

25 Nov 2017 19:43:57
B. S. keep thinking that if you want. We have massive massive problems in midfield, defence and goalkeeper.

When we have these problems I wouldn't care if we were 3 points ahead we are not getting top four this year.

And I can't see us getting what we need in Jan.

25 Nov 2017 19:56:32
Massive problems. calm down geez.

25 Nov 2017 20:01:55
Wow, Davey. I understand your frustration BUT you are overdoing it, mate. Had we gotten 3 points today, you would be happy and would not be saying that you don't care if we got 3 points or not so I know that crap is BS. Also By the logic in your post, we might as well pack it in and not bother turning up for the next game with that defeatist attitude of yours.

25 Nov 2017 20:04:37
Is it Davey Sulls or Davey Sulks? Either way we ended up not winning because the current champions scored from a lucky cross. If we beat Barcelona 5-1 you are the kind who would just bitch about how bad we are because messi scored a wonder goal.

25 Nov 2017 20:10:30
We do have massive problems.

Mignolets left hand, Mignolet right hand, Mignolets left foot and Mignolets right foot.

In all seriousness though, Salah was the only player who played well today.

We would've gotten away with it, if it wasn't for that Mignolet kid.

25 Nov 2017 20:19:48
Couldnt care less what ye think lads. Sorry.

We won't do anything with a bunch of top class wingers, no. 10s and Joe Gomez. They are amazing but they simply won't carry the rest to top four.

It's just too much weight.

25 Nov 2017 20:26:11
I don’t think salah was the only player. We defended better as a unit but had our usual scary moments. I think Ox has to play more forward or he is wasted.

Poor Milner was lost though, I needn’t say more.

But Moreno/ Gomez were good, and will only continue to improve. I’m just disappointed we drew to a goal of that lack of quality. Still a lot to play for this season!

25 Nov 2017 20:28:04
You are blaming Mignolet for the goal MK? I thought it was an excellent chip myself!

25 Nov 2017 20:40:14
Watch it again rover. His footwork was horrible, was like he had no idea were the posts were.

25 Nov 2017 20:49:40
Right. I overstepped the mark with one comment when I said I could care less what ye think. I read the site everyday and I'm always intrigued by the insight of fellow reds.

I'm sticking with everything else though. It would be a miracle if the forwards can Carry the rest to top four.

Surely now is the time for Ward. I would love to see him get crack.

Mignolet shod have saved that. His slow feet cost us again.

Henderson was awful.

Klavan a bag of nerves.

Moreno and Matip were decent but they 'll haunt us in another game.

Milner can't pass.

Wijnaldum just far too inconsistent.

Lovren is having a mare of a season.

I mean honestly. I know our forwards are class but they can't carry them. I HOPE they do but can't see it.

We urgently need a dm gk and cb. That is critical.

25 Nov 2017 21:33:01
So just to clarify, Davey. Same old doom and gloom with the typical self defeating attitude from your initial post and now this one. Roger that, mate!

25 Nov 2017 21:34:34
MK, I agree with you that Migs could have shuffled his feet better and would have had a better chance at reaching the ball cos w/ o shuffling his feet, he got 3 fingers on the ball. Had he actually moved them quicker, he prolly would have gotten a much fuller fist to the ball. Oh well, we move on as frustrating as it is.

25 Nov 2017 22:24:26
But Davey, if we were that bad why did Chelsea not hammer us . Plus Migs did make 3 good saves to keep us in the game . and yes we should bring in another keeper, but that won't happen till next summer .
I do feel that when Chelsea brought on their 3 attacking players, we should have went 5 at the back, they were going for our left side a lot .
I don't think this was the game to introduce Lallana back after nearly 4 months out,
I also think that we should have started with Mane, Milner was a bit lost in midfield .
having said all that, we could and should have hung on for the 3 points .
I don't think that we used our subs the best way,
but we were only 5 mins away from a massive win .

25 Nov 2017 23:49:35
Taxi for migs, lovren, moreno, hendo, and sturridge.
Sure I'll be slated but these players are just not good enough in my opinion.

26 Nov 2017 03:21:32
I think we need to put karius or ward in ASAP. Right now i don’t think either is better than migs and they will make mistakes of their own. My hope is they will learn from them and hopefully by season end or even next season will be better than migs is right now. Migs had 4 years to improve and is still making the same errors as he was day 1.

26 Nov 2017 04:39:51
tj red. "defended well as a unit but had ouy usual scary moments" your contradicting yourself in the same sentence.

25 Nov 2017 21:09:29
Agree totally - other than salah and a good goal lfc were poor tonight. A jumbled selection consisting of several who are just not up to scratch produced a disjointed performance with little creativity (salah apart) . klopp may have got away with it tonight . just.

25 Nov 2017 21:13:53
Also Peterm, please don't call me David sulks again.

At first I saw it as a low level dig but it grew 😀.

25 Nov 2017 22:47:33
Happy, Klopp said in his post match comments, that he was trying to bring Lallana and Mane on earlier so we can go 5 at the back (I guess with Klavan, Gomez and Matip in a back 3 with Milner and Moreno as wing backs) BUT the ref kept delaying and delaying then the goal came for Chelsea hence, Klopp's ire.

I disagree that he did not use his subs well. Like Sevilla, the changes he made there and today was spot on. People are simply looking at changes as a zero-sum issue as in, if we win then the changes worked. If we did not win then the changes did not work. That is a very shallow way of looking at football. Klopp brought on Wiji to strengthen the midfield. You have to see the intent behind the changes being made so you can judge the thinking behind it and on that front, Klopp's intention was very understandable and cos we did not win does not, mean the subs were wrong. That is simplistic thinking.

On the goal, the defence actually did its job to force Willian well wide and then w/ o looking up he just chipped in a cross to the back post where Alonso and Morata were and it went in. Frustration BUT we move on.

26 Nov 2017 07:49:33
Swisch, Karius is light years ahead of Migs in every level of theGK position and that much is clear esp. after his brilliant perf. vs Sevilla where his saves at 1-0 allowed us to go 3 nil up and his overall performances this season have been encouraging. The fact that he is not playing right now is down to Klopp's mismanagement of the GK position and per Ed01, the fact that he is afraid that the fans will turn on Karius again if he makes a mistake. I disagree with that BUT I understand it. In the end tho, Klopp has to act cos Migs will hurt us again this season. That much is clear.

25 Nov 2017 16:55:40
A win would push us above Spuds and level with Chelsea. Massive one today come on! 🔴.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

25 Nov 2017 17:16:54
But Milner in centre midfield?

25 Nov 2017 19:23:44
Mr Dennis, my point exactly. Milner is awful in CM and should never play there again.

25 Nov 2017 19:25:20
Personally can't understand how Milner gets in the team. then to say he's still taking corners when he can't what's that all about.

25 Nov 2017 19:31:24
Milner wound me up all game. Pathetic going forward, gave the ball away countlessly and ran round the pitch like a headless chicken.

25 Nov 2017 19:35:19
Liverpool4life. Henderson wasn't much better. Woeful tonight.

25 Nov 2017 20:07:15
Disagree, IR89. Hendo may not have had his best game cos he was letting himself get too sucked into the press and was getting rolled several times by Hazard and Kante. That said, he gave his all for the team BUT For Freak Sake, the boy could not win today. He was literally abandoned by the awfully woeful Milner and the too-forward-thinking Cou who gave him no help.

Drinkwater was making forward runs w/ no one tracking him. What do you want Hendo to do? Break up play, get forward and track runners from midfield all ny himself? The bashing of Hendo now is becoming tedious, biased and low hanging fruit. Wiji was worse than Hendo at Seville YET Hendo got all the stick. Same vs Chelsea awith Milner and Cou yet Hendo gets the blame. Change the record please cos it's severe;ly skippiong.

25 Nov 2017 21:34:36
Thanks BRover, I wanted to say something like that but couldn't put it together succinctly.

26 Nov 2017 00:12:30
Henderson is nowhere near the level that is required. Far too inconsistent. Yes he gets a lot of stick but a lot of it is justified. I’m sure he’s every inch the consummate professional on and off the field but he lacks the character of a Liverpool captain and the guile. It’s square pegs in round holes.

25 Nov 2017 22:40:57
we were set up wrong I thought, and Salah is best coming in from the wing, into spaces, not as a centre forward, other wise, we gave Chelsea a very good game, and were unlucky not to get the 3 big points .

25 Nov 2017 22:49:08
Cheers, SR.

26 Nov 2017 08:45:56
Henderson form is nothing to do with other players. The players need to take personal responsibility rather than looking for excuses. He’s been poor last few weeks with just basics. Marking, passing and tackling etc. That’s not influenced by others. A pass is a pass. I just think he’s in a dip of form tho. He’ll come out of it hopefully sooner rather than later.

We’ve been spoilt over the years because we’ve had a captain that has carried us in Gerrard for periods. Big games he stepped up like champions league final and now that’s what we all expect out of our captain.

26 Nov 2017 11:08:26
Brover. I wasn't bashing Henderson im actually a fan of his. Don't think he is captain material but that's another debate in itself. You said he was abandoned by milner and coutinho in midfield which I agree with to a point but why as captain is he not organising and talking to milner and coutinho telling them to do this and that! Doesn't take a genius to see we were being overun in the second half but lack of leaders again not just Henderson and we can't see the game out. Don't want to be negative but yesterday was another big chance we have blown to gain points on teams in front of us.

25 Nov 2017 16:41:26
Just got a horrible feeling we're on for a loss possibly by 4 or more goals let's hope I am wrong and everyone can laugh at me.
Come on guys let's get a win.

Believable4 Unbelievable12

25 Nov 2017 17:18:31
Geeeez.

25 Nov 2017 19:24:39
You don't call yourself negative for no reason, do ya?

25 Nov 2017 19:50:19
Well got that wrong. How gutting to conceded. 1-1 against Chelsea could end up being a good result come May.

25 Nov 2017 21:36:55
That's the spirit, NRW. I Know, it is severely frustrating as I was fuming after the goal BUT you know, we have been on a good run in the PL since the Spurs game (10 points out of 12) so we learn and move on to Stoke come midweek which will be a huge and difficult game.

25 Nov 2017 22:36:33
I think that Klopp chose the wrong game to rotate, beating Chelsea would have been a huge boost for the team and the fans, having said that, he has now rested some players, given Lallana his first start,
we just need a couple of wins to get us in the top four,
great xmas pressie eh .

25 Nov 2017 16:03:13
Chelsea u23s v l. pool u23s

h. wilson.

good win for the lads 👍.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

25 Nov 2017 16:19:48
Wilson again .

25 Nov 2017 16:59:46
Could Wilson become our Kane? Lol nobody expected Kane to be this good from what I’ve read.

25 Nov 2017 17:25:50
Why isn't he anywhere near our first team yet?

25 Nov 2017 19:25:14
That is a Dear Jurgen question.

25 Nov 2017 20:00:37
Because he’s still 3ft nothing and not strong enough to play against adults if he doesn’t have a growth spurt he’ll go the same way as rossiter.

25 Nov 2017 20:22:55
I think Michael Owen was 17 and a bit of a pip squeek when he scored on his debut against Wimbledon think Harry Wilson is 20 and banging in goals left right and centre for the u23s.

25 Nov 2017 21:38:11
That was 20 yrs ago, redsteve. Football has changed massively even since the 13/ 14 season when we almost won the PL.

25 Nov 2017 23:34:46
I agree with you BRover football has changed but unless some of these players are given a chance we'll never know what there like I'd like to see solanke given some game time see how he gets on can't be any worse than sturridge is at the moment.

26 Nov 2017 05:47:55
Jezza Kyle, what a stupid comment. Read up on the average height and weight of players in the top teams in Europe. They are all smaller than average. I don’t get this obsession with the fact that you have to be big and strong to be a footballer. I think that’s what’s held back England for years. It’s the Tony Pullis train of thought. Dinosaurs

Red Sandman.

25 Nov 2017 14:09:32
Hi Ed's with Gerrard continuing to get results i just wanted to ask your opinion of his start as the U18's manager. he seems to of taken it in his stride and taken nothing for granted!

im impressed.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - what with? The only thing a youth coach is there for is to provide players for the first team. It is far too early to judge but results are absolutely irrelevant to his role.}

25 Nov 2017 15:58:31
“Results are entirely irrelevant to his role” . interesting.

{Ed001's Note - if he wins everything but fails to produce a single player for the first team, then he has failed miserably. If he brings through regular players but wins nothing, then he will have succeeded brilliantly. That is the only thing that matters at that level and he would do well to remember it.}

25 Nov 2017 16:44:00
Not that big a Gerrard fan but hopefully he will do both as it would be good for the youngsters to get that winning mentality.

{Ed001's Note - you learn very little by winning, they can save the winning for when they are in the first team when it actually matters.}

25 Nov 2017 16:55:23
The kids should be having fun at that age. For example, look at Rashford. He honestly looks like he's enjoying every moment of it whenever I've seen him play.

25 Nov 2017 17:01:08
I’m going to have to disagree Ed001. You can learn a lot from winning at all levels. Even moreso from losing. I agree it’s not as important to us or to the club, but to the players it has to
Matter.

{Ed001's Note - what do you learn from winning? Disagreeing for the sake of it if you ask me.}

25 Nov 2017 17:02:16
True with what you said edd 1 but any liverpool team winning is good for me. Even better if they are coming from behind and grind out a win.

25 Nov 2017 17:29:14
Got to agree with Ed here I use to play for a team that got thumped nearly every week (in goal 10 to 13yrs old I played for them) loved it then I was hand picked and another 2 lads and played for a team that wiped the floor with everyone I remember letting in 7 goals all season once loved it but played with lads who let's say we're posh not the same rapor and 1 off them went on to be a professional footballer.

25 Nov 2017 19:28:30
At that age, winning is irrelevant if you have NO graduates going into the first team. That is the goal. Look at Chelsea. They win a lot of FA Youth Cups YET have academy graduates in their first team par prolly Musonda who still can't get in the stands. Ed is correct here and if you can't see that then I fear for you.

25 Nov 2017 19:28:37
No I can't see your point ed1 were still waiting for the first team to learn from losing. It hasn't happened so the youngsters winning can only be a good thing in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - then you need to try doing some reading. You clearly are just ignorant of the basics of what teaches people how to improve. Ask any legend of any sport and it is setbacks while young that make them great.}

25 Nov 2017 19:38:15
Really.? ignorant lol. Just because I don't agree with you. Should of been that coming to be fair. Well the first team have never learnt from their failings. And a winning mentality breeds success and all.

{Ed001's Note - no you are ignorant because you don't understand the point and are trying to relate the first team to the youth team. Obviously a complete lack of understanding. Just give it up, you are proving my point by continuing to argue and I am really not interested in trying to educate you when you are too lazy to do your own research. It is pointless to continue this discussion so I will stop it here, I am done talking on it, I have explained that they are totally different things, but it seems you lack the ability to read and understand the points being made. It is not like it takes a great mind to understand that kids are learning and not the finished article while first team players should be.}

25 Nov 2017 19:49:50
Fair enough I won't continue the discussion. But I can read. And I do understand what you have said. I just don't agree with you. Oh and research wise I have done plenty with my own children but whilst I agree all people are different my children learn more and enjoy what they are doing whilst they are winning. And I don't coach them either.

{Ed001's Note - if you say so. Tell me when they are great players in the future won't you.}

25 Nov 2017 20:44:10
Ok ed you stoop to those levels.

26 Nov 2017 00:23:56
Like I said there's nothing like a good tonking (getting thrashed) to put you into perspective.

25 Nov 2017 13:39:46
Hey Macca,
How are things my man?
Anything been floated your way lately regarding Liverpool rumours or is it far too early to say anything yet.
Cheers.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

25 Nov 2017 15:07:26
Macca is a legend but in fairness, ed2 has just done a terrific sharkopod which has given us pretty much everything for now.

25 Nov 2017 19:53:41
Theres Harry too don't forget Harry he is a legend too.

25 Nov 2017 08:00:23
There was a tread a while back about good books about Liverpool. Just finished Men in White Suits about a few of the 90’s players. Well worth a read if anyone’s interested.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

25 Nov 2017 10:40:57
Theredwolf, you can read Bring The Noise. It is written by Ralph Honigstein about Jurgen Klopp and what makes him tick, how he started his coaching career and his tenure at LFC so far. I saw an interview from Honigstien and it was quite revealing with the snippets of his book.

25 Nov 2017 12:05:46
Cheers BRover I’ll give it a go.

Premier League Match Previews Saturday 25th November 2017

25 Nov 2017 04:36:44
{Ed's Note - we have posted a new article entitled, Premier League Match Previews Saturday 25th November 2017

Believable2 Unbelievable2

25 Nov 2017 07:31:31
Morning Ed001 that must take a lot of work. Do you not provide your predictions?

Massive game for Liverpool today, but very hard to predict. If you go through the 2 teams Chelsea are better but we are at home. I predict 2-1 but more in hope than anything. Hope the fans are right up for the game.

{Ed001's Note - no mate, too superstitious. They do take a bit of work, depending on how many games are on. Usually takes most of a day inbetween editing.}

25 Nov 2017 08:54:02
Ed2 just curious, is this your full time job or do you have to fit this around life? Either way many thanks for your dedication and insight.

{Ed001's Note - Ed2? For me it is my full time job, not for Ed002 though.}

25 Nov 2017 09:35:18
Ed2 keeps on having too many jollies in Monaco for this to be a full time job lol.

25 Nov 2017 13:52:57
And wives!

25 Nov 2017 02:28:20
At this stage in the season given various teams positive/ negative showings so far, who do you feel will win the Champions League this year and why?
Could we win it and how far will we progress?
Who would be your dark horse for a lengthy stay in the competition this year?

Personally, I feel there looks to be good depth in the tournament this year and we could see some very exciting games throughout the knockout stages. The usual suspects look there or thereabouts in qualifying but PSG have looked scintillating so far but maybe are yet to be tested with their backs against the wall. I will still choose them at this stage.
Realistically, I feel we will reach the quarter finals and maybe the semis with our strength at home.
As for the unexpected team to progress to the latter stages that's very tough to choose, Spurs have done very well in a very tough group and if they can keep their core group fit it could be a thrilling year for their fans.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 Nov 2017 04:01:23
Have you seen how poor and porous our midfield and defense is? I will be shocked if we get beyond the knockouts tbh. The likes of Bayern, Real, Barca, Man City will have a field day and run havoc if we draw any of those sides. Our forwards are good but not so good that they can outscore the aforementioned teams who have better defenders to back up their forward line.

25 Nov 2017 04:04:44
Seeing as my brother is a spurs fan, i expect us to meet in the last 8.

25 Nov 2017 07:07:22
Going foreward? Why not.

Defensively? Not a chance with our back four and the lack of midfield protection,

I’ll be brutally honest, I don’t see us winning too much domestically as it stands either. Winnng sides are built from the back, bit of an old cliche but in my 40 years of watching the game it’s 100% correct.

25 Nov 2017 07:08:15
Wih the exception of Gomez.

25 Nov 2017 10:07:54
For all the good work our attack does it gets undone by our keeper and defence time and time again. Our midfield does not offer enough going forward or in protection over 90 minutes. We won't win trophies if we are our own worst enemy and as it stands we are.

25 Nov 2017 10:49:31
Anything can happen in Europe so I am not ruling us out of the running cos we did make the EL final with a team much inferior to this one. I do agree that our defence is worrying and the fact that they get no protection from the midfield is even more worrying as it is on this point that we have conceded 1 goals in 4 games (all wins) before the midfield bailed on them vs Seville. I hope Can is fit to play vs Chelsea as we need him in the #6.

25 Nov 2017 13:22:46
We will get drawn against either Chelsea, Spurs, Utd or City in the first round of the knockouts.

Not a problem though we will beat them all!

25 Nov 2017 13:24:06
We didn't have the best XI players in 2005 but we proved anything can happen.
No-one will want to face LFC over 2 legs.

{Ed025's Note - yeah but what if the teams you face refuse the bribes ron?, not all teams are like milan mate.. :)

25 Nov 2017 13:44:31
You only need to look at Liverpool against Sevilla. The difference in the 2 halves to see which team might turn up. Even Liverpool's league campaign at home (really good this season) and away (average at best) . When we are on it we are some outfit but we do have our "issues" and most teams will know that. Who knows? I would like to think we could at least reach the quarters which would be an ok effort after being out of the CL for so long.

25 Nov 2017 13:47:04
Indian Buzzer
I would be happy enough to get Bayern this season. They don't seem to be firing on all cylinders this season.

25 Nov 2017 14:21:21
Judging by how Everton's season is panning out, Moshiri will be opening his chequebook very soon but not for signing new players. Don't be surprised to see referees and members of the FA committee buying expensive houses and cars in the coming months from mysterious funds. Bribes might be Everton's best hope of survival this season Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - i would have no problem if we did that buzzer its called finding a way, wimbledon took one to keep us up so maybe there are a few more out there so that we can retain our premiership status, referees are the best bet though as they are not on that much money so a if a ferrari appears on their driveway one morning im sure a dodgy penalty or an offside goal can be arranged mate..

25 Nov 2017 14:51:12
KBL, CL rules stipulate that two teams from the same country/ league cannot be drawn together in the knockout stages, I think.
