Ed001, I know this isn't relevant to Liverpool, but what do you think of Gareth Bale as a player? I remember over tge past few years you were saying that he was over-rated, but was just wandering if you opinions on him have changed or anything? {Ed001's Note - he is still over rated, but he has improved massively, it is just no one could possibly be as good as the media masturbation at the mere mention of his name would have you believe. He is not even close to Messi, let alone Ronaldo (who he seems to be trying to imitate in everything he does), but he is certainly the best left winger in the English league. Hard to say how good he actually is, Spurs are so perfectly set up for him, would he be the same anywhere else? They don't rely just on him, they have Lennon and Holtby to provide space for him to operate. Tonight he played well, but he did get given far too much space, though, like I said, Spurs work well to create him space. Still, Bale has a lot of time on his side, if he can carry on showing consistent improvement, he can be as good as he wants to be.}

26 Feb 2013 00:18:59
I agree Ed. He is only just now living up to his hype from 2/3 years ago during Spur's Champion's League run. He is blindingly fast, and the team works space for him, but he still needs to add that je nai sa quoi to his game.

As much as the media want him to be, he is not the footballer of the year for the Premier League. I wish the media would back off him and not shove him down our throat now. Classic media though, "He's British so he is the best".

Jolly Red

From what I've seen of him Bale is a superb player, but he's not one of ours so let's move on.
Hop

Spurs bought him as a full back, he went something like his first 20 games without even being on the winning side for Spurs.
Got to give it to him he's really improved.
Agree with Ed001 though he thinks he's a clone of Renaldo. (a poor mans and just as annoying )

Bale is excellent

IF we had Bale we would be raving about him

Fair is fair or maybe not!

26 Feb 2013 09:13:40
he is top class.
the second goal was a blinder.
but he imitates ronaldo (freekick esp). and probably he might reach his level in 4-5 years.
but messi. no chance. not even his son can reach what messi is all about.
he is from another planet.

I remember. alex meclish was about to bid 3 mill for gareth bale. when he had the worst time of his career after joining from saints.

ed. what's your take in Holtby. for me. he is the signing of the season so far. {Ed001's Note - I like Holtby, but he has yet to really light up the Prem, though I think he will. Not sure how he can be signing of the season, he just hasn't yet done anything, though it is only a matter of time before it all gels for him and the goals come.}

Think Holtby well overated. Decent player and that's all.

Ed 001 from your reply it seems u rate ronaldo (cristiano not el fenomeno) over messi! am I correkt? {Ed001's Note - god no, Messi is a class above anyone else playing right now. I must have worded it badly sorry.}

26 Feb 2013 12:30:44
holtby decent player?
get a grip. that lad is quality. and was bought for 1, 5 mill. which is by far the signing of the season.

if so what about allen and borni?
barca quality?

So many dreamers on here it's ridiculous.

By all means we should 'walk on with hope in our heart' but we need to relax and get real as well.

We are years and years away from being a force again and that's if Rodgers gets it right. If we change manager again in a year or two then we start all over again.

I'm confident Rodgers will be the man given time but we'll have a long wait.

We can do without the extreme reactions on here.

A couple of wins and we're going to win the league next year, don't win for a couple and Rodgers is a muppet out of depth at such a big club!

Neither are true. Patience is the key with realistic ambitions :)

You missed out something important. its ok we us lfc loyal fans giving time to rogers to get his perfect squad but how long will fsg give him, remember champions league is vital to them as this is were the money is

I know mate but there's got to be a compromise. Chopping and changing at a whim gets you nowhere. That is proven time and time again.

If FSG don't realise this, and I believe they do hence why they appointed a young manager, then they're the wrong owners.

Always makes me laugh when people say were years away! What's that all about?
Were two or three players away, not years!
Good job our star players don't think like you? There'd be no point in staying with LFC.

Trust me mate, we are years away. Mark my words.

2/3 players away?! No chance!

We only have two top (and I mean top) players, Stevie and Suarez.

I think Suarez will give us one more year tops, in which time we won't make CL so he'll be off. Stevie can't be too far off retiring so how do you then even contemplate attracting the best players?

Stop dreaming and get real. it's the dreamers who put too much undue pressure on everyone

25 Feb 2013 23:12:16
i hope the rumours that Liverpool signing Guillermo Ochoa are true as (if reina does stay in the summer) he will provide good competition which would be good for both player and team.

25 Feb 2013 23:08:57
Are we looking to get shot of Coates and Skyrtl. If so that leaves Agger.

Will we be looking at for 3 new CB or 2 with Kelly. (think he is long term future myself)

Following on I personally don't see Wisdom as a fullback

RAFa changed Carra from a FB to CB

Time now for Kelly

Wisdom is a CB. Kelly feels, himself, that he is too but he's a proper good FB so he might stay there.

25 Feb 2013 23:01:54
What is the likelihood of Danny Ward getting some game time next year Eds? He is a fantastic young keeper. {Ed002's Note - Slim in terms of teh first team. I feel sorry for goalkeepers sometimes.}

25 Feb 2013 23:01:11
Eds are we rich {Ed002's Note - In body and soul, no doubt.}

In history as well.

Red PG

We are all rich in our inner world where material goods matter little however we have been turned to weapons of massive consumption and lost our souls

That's why the world is in turmoil

25 Feb 2013 20:00:48
hey eds and fellow posters i'm watching the u21s play united tonite and just wonder what your opinions are of adam morgan as for me he just seems to have stagnated this season and not really progressed at all which I am disappointed about as I thought he might be the next great academy goalscorer but just can't see it now especially compared to ngoo who has came on leaps this year. {Ed001's Note - he does seem to have lost his way, for me he tries too hard and needs to calm down and just play.}

25 Feb 2013 20:44:37
Hi eds.

Is Ryan McLaughlin and Joao Carlos Teixeira any good?and how do you rate them? {Ed001's Note - excellent players. McLaughlin just needs to get some regular first team football, he is very good on the ball, pacey and excellent going forward. Needs to improve the defensive side of his game though. Texeira is coming off a long injury lay off, but he is looking better and better, I would expect him to be on the fringes of the first team next season.}

25 Feb 2013 22:11:54
If West Ham pay £17 mill for the Sunday league centre forward, I'll streak across Anfield. He's not worth £5 mill let alone £17.

Ozone

Thought he played really well against spurs, won pretty much every header. I don't want him for Liverpool but hopefully he keeps scoring a few more goals so we can get the best fee as possible

How can you streak across anfield when you don't know suggested it is?
Just sayin

AC will be a great player

The problem is he is unloved ATM {Ed001's Note - yeah right, he will never be a great player because he would rather drink his life away.}

26 Feb 2013 09:16:35
exactly. he was awful yesterday. awful.
the ald even can't controll a football for even 5 secs.
he cannot pass. neither run. with the ball. nor hold up.
how many years can a striker survive just with heading abilities?

what on earth did KK and commoli saw in him?
35 mill?. can't believe.
we will loose heavily.

Even if there is a chance of plan B. he is simple not enough.
One of the worst striker I have watched play.

26 Feb 2013 09:18:24
played well for spurs?. won header.
what you mean by a striker?. what's his abilities?
winning header since he is tall enough.
utter crap was he. yesterday.
look at the second half. somehwere in 84th min.
caroll recieved a pass in the box.
what was he doing?
headless chciken?

17 mill? not more than 10 mill

When one is unloved one may turn to drink or any other addiction

Hopefully AC will be saved and show the world what a player he can be

At 21 he got too much too soon and it went pear shaped that would undermine many a man however it does not have to be a permanent place of purgatory.

AC will hopefully find his way

25 Feb 2013 22:01:58
An under 21 team with shelvey suso sterling and wisdom and still we couldn't beat uniteds crap

Maybe because they are n't crap

25 Feb 2013 21:52:33
Spurs are lucky ba**ards, without Bale they would be fecked. Totally a one man team.

Who cares this is a Liverpool page. We just need to look after ourselves.

Apart from at the start of the season when Defoe was scoring all the goals.

HBadger

And where would you be without Suarez!

25 Feb 2013 22:37:38
ermmm suarez? where would we be without him, he's our only player who can do anything. such a hypocritical post

And he isn't even our player of the season so far!

25 Feb 2013 22:59:53
Umm 18 different goal scorers this season, we are such a 1 man team.

Who is your best player this season then you delusional man, also I fear Everton more than you lot ha

You fear Everton more than us? Lol I hope Spurs come to Anfield with that same attitude

Where would LFC be without GERRARD?

25 Feb 2013 21:19:50
West Ham 2-1 Spurs!

Would be a great result for us if it stayed this way, Cole and Carroll with the goals as well! Haha, brilliant.

Why can't you all just keep quite until the final whistle, yet again some people on here suffering from premature gloat syndrome! Maybe you will learn in future to wait until a game is finished before the ha ha's ( Nelson from The Simpsons ) start. The we can make top 4 posts not popping up are the only positives I can take out of the Spurs result.

Waro

Pretty sure that Irish Red's post made little difference to the result of the game and to our top 4 credentials Waro.

I agree with waro,

Irish Red
ITS ALL YOUR FAULT. (Angry face)

25 Feb 2013 20:40:24
I know he's still very young but sterling form has dramatically gone down hill since he signed his contact.

He was poor again tonight for the u21's

Crisis of confidence.

25 Feb 2013 20:34:26
Really like the look of joao Carlos teixeria looks a great talent, hope to see him in the first team soon.

25 Feb 2013 21:43:02
He was good tonight joao carlos him and suso played well with the one two passing.

Suso did NOT play well. This was his worst game as a LFC player.

Suso was brutal tonite as was morgan

25 Feb 2013 20:26:56

Players out in the summer will be Downing, Reiner and Henderson

Why hendo what has he done wrong? Can't change his own price tag

25 Feb 2013 16:01:36
Even AVB still sees us as a threat for top 4 which shows people know we are a strong team. And like he said we only have Everton Tottenham and Chelsea left that are really strong teams. (Not saying any game is easy) just hope we can find consistancy because if we beat Tottenham or Chelsea that's not that many points off them especially as arsenal still have to go against them all.

Anyone else got a feeling Tottenham will lose or draw tonight? That will make stuff really interesting. Although I'm not saying we're going to get top 4 cause we always jinx it just thinking still a way to go

Londonred

We'll jinx it again if we think about it. It's better we take one game at a time.

I have read innumerable posts slating Borini as BR buy and being expensive and goal shy etc. Please consider this:

1) He has been injured almost whole season and whenever he played he was playing with an injury.
2) He is a natural striker not a winger but whenever played he has been played out of position and has given his all.
3) His runs off the shoulder of last defender have been excellent and was unlucky not to have a couple of goals under his belt.
4) He is part of first 11 of Italy squad at age of 21.

Lets support this guy whenever he takes on field because so far he has done nothing whatsoever to deserve slating/criticism. I believe there is a long way to go before we give up on Borini and Allen.

Indian with Red Heart

Good post, well said, I agree with you.

SMc

p. s. when you look at Lucas and Henderson it shows you how players first impressions might not tell you the whole story

Italy First 11 squad? I think El Shaarawy and Balotelli are both ahead of him and Italy have Giovinco and Osvaldo too. Borini is behind all of them I think. I don't think he is suited to the premiership though. We'll obviously give him a chance and I would love him to me prove all his critics (including me) wrong but I'm not optimistic about him.

Stevie G reportedly eyeing Celtic for his testamonial! its all over the twtter/fb etc!

Rather play a British team!

Celtic are a British team

25 Feb 2013 18:39:05
With Suarez chasing the Golden Boot and in view of the fact Stevie stood aside and let Sturridge take a pen against Swansea. Do you think Stevie will let Suarez take any penalties from now on? I know Luis took a penalty last season and missed but now his confidence and dead ball skill is back to it's best I personally think he should take them.

If we are 3 goals In front then I see no reason not to let him have it?

Phooey.

26 Feb 2013 10:57:12
I'll be honest, when somebody other than Gerrard steps up for a peno, i'm nearly being sick.

Don't think we scored a penalty until he was back from injury last year!

Suarez, Downing, Carrolll and Adam missed last season (not including the cup final) and Gerrard scores two against Joe Hart, I know who i'd rather have!

Still, if it isn't going to affect the result, i'd be happy for Suarez to take them!

25 Feb 2013 18:23:48
hope the U21s give united a slating this evening

Liverpool are taking it serious anyway with Shelvey, Sterling, Suso and Wisdom all playing. I know the aren't first 11 players but what's the point of playing them in a reserve game and maybe getting injured?

The Irish Rover

25 Feb 2013 21:12:43
Unfortunately Sama got two yellows and was sent on his way. Liverpool were defending a lot after this, Ward pulled off some fantastic work but we were layed low by a 94th minute goal.

A red and a late goal. Must be the United ethos throughout the ranks ;)

25 Feb 2013 21:30:52
Danny ward was a beast tonight the lad looks a great keeper.

Ed002 if pepe leaves do u see vorm as a possible replacement? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

25 Feb 2013 17:25:02
Hey ed001 what are your thoughts on Connor Coady? Do you expect him to make the step up next season? He seems good enough and definitely has the desire to do well. Personally, I'd like him to be promoted to the first team as cover for Lucas and put Rossiter in the U21s.

AsianRed {Ed001's Note - I expect him to go out on loan for a season to be honest.}

And the Oscar for the most repetitive question asked to Ed001 goes too.

25 Feb 2013 14:59:42
A month ago we were 0-2 up against Arsenal and if we held that result - level on points with them. Despite playing fairly well in our last 4 premiership games, albeit with missing some good chances and some poor defending, we find ourselves 8 points off Arsenal and after this evening, most probably 12 points off spurs! The premiership can feel very un-fair at times.

However, let's look on the bright side. after Wigan, we play Spurs at Anfield and this game is ideally placed for us - Spurs are playing 5 big games in 13 days. After having Arsenal and Inter at home they travel to Anfield before playing away at the San Siro 4 days later and another premiership game 2 days after that. Hopefully we can get a good result against them at Anfield.

Then our next 4 games are; Southampton, Aston Villa, West Ham and Reading.

Spurs next 4 are; Swansea, Everton, Chelsea and Man City.

Everton 4 are; Arsenal, Man City, Stoke and Spurs

Arsenal 4 are; Everton, Swansea, Reading and West Brom (with an easy trip to the Allianz Arena mixed up inbetween).

West Brom 4; Swansea, Stoke, West Ham and Arsenal (then man city)

Should be an interesting couple of months. A lot has changed since a month ago - hopefully a lot will change over the next month. I know 4th is very unlikely, but there is still slim hope. There will be slips ups and sublime performances - but let's support Brendan and the Team as much as possible and hope for the best.

I like your optimism mate but it's never as simple as looking at the fixture list and saying we should win that game.
Anyone who has followed Liverpool in recent years knows our form is very inconsistent.
We can smash man city and Chelsea one day and get battered by villa or reading (no offence intended) the next.
I feel it has been this way for a while, the problem spans over several managers reins so it's not that.

MIKEY

We're not Norwich mate. haha

Eds coukd you describe De Vrij playing style for us? Never seen him play. {Ed001's Note - nor me sorry.}

25 Feb 2013 14:39:23
Are we looking to sign alex pearce, is he out of contract in the summer or something?

No, go back to FIFA and look for another fast player.

25 Feb 2013 14:38:37
A couple interesting stats for this season:

Most game time - 10 players this season have played every minute of every match so far, 5 of them are keepers, 4 are defenders and one is a midfielder named Mr Steven Gerrard.

Biggest Wins - Liverpool hold the record of seven matches won with more than three goals.

Golden Boot - Suarez is now one goal behind RVP, and of his 19, RVP scored a penalty while Suarez has taken none of Liverpool's four penalties this year.

So out of every forward and midfielder only STEVEN GERRARD has played every minute of every game. IMPRESSIVE!

Yeh, and were STILL 8th.

It's league position that matters

Another stat worth mentioning considering our defenders and keeper gets a lot of abuse on here, we are second in the clean sheet table and only city conceded less goals than us at home.

Actually we conceded less than city at home. We let in 6 where City 7, We top the best defense at home chart.

Perhaps suarez should have taken a penalty then

Suarez also had a goal unfairly taken off him vs everton

Conceded:
arsenal: 2
united: 2
villa: 3
brom: 2

thats off the top of my head.

how dyu think we've conceded 6 at home?

25 Feb 2013 13:20:18
Not saying we will get top 4 because I think 12 points is a little too much to make up at this stage of the season, but if we were to make it I think Chelsea could miss out. I just get the feeling there is a negative atmosphere around Stamford Bridge at the moment, so it will be interesting to see where they finish this season.
-Beany.

10 points?

25 Feb 2013 13:14:08
Everyone stop going on about top 4 or we will just cock up again! Its a jinx!

I don't hear ferguson going on about how the title is in the bag. If he did that they would probably lose all of their remaining games!

Anonymous woolback

Get real. We are no-where near being a top four club. Mid-table at best.

No but you here going on about the treble and that his team are better then the treble winning team.

25 Feb 2013 16:30:13
To be honest, I think 5th would be a great finish for us this season. Improving on last years league position, Europa again and a much better wage bill. If we think too much about top 4 we could end up very disappointed, if we happened to get it it would be a lovely surprise!

25 Feb 2013 17:11:48
Laughing at that 'mid-table at best comment', because right now we are at the very top of 'mid-table', to think we are mid table at best means we must have had a hell of a lot of luck this season to be where we are! As if. we are certainly not a mid-table team, we have had a few not so great seasons, but so have other teams. didn't Chelsea finish 6th last season? Funny how they're not mid-table!

No but you here going on about the treble and that his team are better then the treble winning team.

====================
Actually what he said "We have a stronger squad now", the use of the word squad was deliberate.

Hey Ed, great job, really appreciate the updates. Could you rate out of 100 the likely hood of the following:
De Vrij
Bruno Martins
Ashley Williams
Ben Arfa (Apprently we have enquired about him, and Newcaslte are still desperate for Carrol may be in our favour)
Arda
Many thx :) {Ed002's Note - We are not going to get into any ratings, but each of these has been discussed at length - why not try the search function?}

25 Feb 2013 16:32:51
Why is it so hard for people to understand that BR probably doesn't even know who we will go for in the summer yet! The transfer window is way off yet, where we finish in the league will have a huge impact on who we decide to go for, if by any small chance we happen to get top 4, it means we have CL to offer and can go for a different type of player! It's not rocket science!

Out of 100? Is that another way of getting a percentage? Oh well, didn't work.

25 Feb 2013 12:32:52
It's a shame that Kelly won't be given too many opportunities to thrive alongside Jamie Carragher.

Personally, I've always seen him as a future centre back.

I still expect them to bump into each other next season.

By the way, Jamie will NOT be joining Sky.

Tally ho.

Let's hope Kelly is the next Carragher. Or even has half the career Carra as had.

25 Feb 2013 12:11:25
Rodgers is trying to get as many pacey players as possible so we can attack faster on the break. Pace is the most important aspect of attack these days, look at tottenham they have plenty of pace in their attack and are near tge top

25 Feb 2013 12:09:37
Would not trust Brendan with any transfer money in the summer due to him wasting money on previous transfers (e. g. £15m on Allen).

What about Sturridge? Or when you watched Coutinho vs Swansea?

So don't improve our squad then? aren't you a bright spark

Managers make mistakes in the transfer market, look at Rafa, I wouldn't trust him to do my grocery shop with all the poor signings he made over his tenure.

BR has had time now to put his stamp on transfers and I only hope he gets it right as he has not been quite so good in the market to date.

next season will be make or break for him I think in relation to signings tactics and results. he's had his excuse time this season.

Oh yeah and £12 million on Sturridge

What about sturridge for 12 million and coutinho for 8. 5?

Inspired signings IMO.

And allen was his talisman at swansea, maybe it hasn't worked out as well as he'd hoped but brendan knows this.

Sorry mate, but that is plain wrong.

The jury is still out on Borini, he's not been playing long enough to know, and he did overpay by 5m on Allen, in his enthusiasm to get his man.

But if we'd had Sturridge last summer as BR wanted, we'd only be a point or two off the top four, instead of ten points.

Assaidi was a cheap buy to use as a squad player, and he clearly does have a lot of talent- surely worth what we paid for him. I'd play him every time before Downing or Sterling tbh.

Coutinho is still too new to tell, but it hard to see how he's worth less than 8.5m.

Tbh, compare those buys to 35m paid for Carroll, 20m for Downing, and 17m for Henderson.
Dalglish may have been a very good man manager, but I wouldn't rely on him to pick out a top quality football player.

In fact I think if KK had played Rafa's boys more often (Maxi, etc), and had let Comolli pick the transfer targets, he'd have gotten together a good enough squad to win 4th place last season and still be charge.

It would be a little bit tricky to manage the club with an embargo in place.

Red Owl

How can anyone talk about Coutinho being a successful signing? He has only played one game. A little bit of reality is called for folks.

The Irish Rover

Allen will definately improve, it took lucas 2 years. allen did'nt set the price paid, but I think we will see him as a regular in the team next season and also in some of the remaining games this term

Ed's have Liverpool shown any interest in Christiano Ronaldo or Leo Messi?

Both are young and fit in the the FSG policy.

Regards

WUM.

How has this squeezed passed the edmin :) and ended up on the rumours page?

This is the sort of produce that needs to be on the ''dodgy rumour'' page.

BCDI. {Ed001's Note - it is on the banter page, certainly not rumour.}

Ronaldo isn't that young (28) too old for us to splash that large amount of cash on him :P

Where would they play in our team?

We need quality not quantity

Not good enough for LFC! I thought our fans weren't happy with mediocre players? They fit in the 'mediocre' pile along with Ken Aguero.!
-Beany.

I think we should really be setting our sights a bit higher than those two has beens.
safa

Kenny would of targeted them two players! BR only buys average Swansea players.

EDS
Just a quick question which perhaps ED1 or 2 could answer. Do any of you know what's going on with are scouting team as the 3 main signings this year have been players Rodgers is familiar with. And while I know that some players settle quicker than others, Allen has been hit and miss, Borini to be fair has been unlucky with injuries but looked a bit goal shy when playing, while Sturridge has hit the ground running, I find it rather disturbing that despite a network of scouts we have relied on familiar faces. Is the reason for this that Rodgers wanted to play it safe or are the scouts unable to provide suitable candidates.

Thanks
dub96 {Ed001's Note - Rodgers wanted to get players in that he already had time to check out himself. Rather than take a chance on players that his scouts recommended but he had never watched.}

Hi eds, there's been some talk in particular from Ed001 about some teams perhaps tapping into the Spanish market due to its current financial state. Is this something you would expect Liverpool to do (if it has any interest in these players, of course)? And if so would any teams in particular be targeted? I believe Ed 001 has mentioned Sevilla on more than one occasion.
Thanks again, {Ed001's Note - if we can get the right players, I would expect so. It makes sense on so many levels, especially as so many Spanish players are brought up playing the way we do. Though I don't expect that to be the be all and end all of our recruiting, I do expect us to look at other markets, as this summer is likely to see a large movement of players throughout Europe.}

If that's the case, I really hope we get Gary Medel of Sevilla as back-up to Lucas. What do you reckon Ed001? {Ed001's Note - that would be my choice too, I love how he plays, he is a throw back, a proper old school central midfielder.}

Probably a bit like Mascherano. Come on Ed put in a word or 2 in some scouts ear.

25 Feb 2013 12:51:05
he is aan excelent prospect in ma eyes. I have seen him play. looks real good.
most important. disciplined midfielder.
but don't worry. we won't buy him.

The thing is, would he mind being a bench warmer?

a month back. I had an argument with one of the ed. regarding two players.
loic remy and sissokho.
remy is out injured.
sissokho. is having a blinder.
Ed. was sure. he isn't a good player. and we were not after him.
He was bought for 2 mill. and has laready showed what he is capable of.

If he was judged by the poor season he had last year.
what on earth did borini had in italy that we pumped 11 mill on him?

Can you please shed your views ed? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea which Ed you are referring to about Sissokho and Remy - point us at the post and someone will take a look.}

To early to judge Sissoko, Jelavic is brilliant.

25 Feb 2013 10:42:52
yeah. but 2 mill. is a very very very less price for any footballer. and he has shown his potential.
even if he fails. its still a bargain.

Jelavic? 6 goals all season? High praise indeed.

Our potential Summer dealings from news and rumours

Out
Carrager retires
Coates 5m
Carrol 15m
Reina 12m
Borini 8m
Total 40m

In
Gullermo choa 10m
Dejan Lovren 10m
Stefan De Vrij 8m
Heung Min Son 14m
Ben Arfa 12m

TOtal 54m

Net Spend 14m

Think you need to review simple addition (its in any primary school maths text book)

Really don't expect those two defenders if Skrtel and Agger remain. And no way all our signings will be new to PL. Ben Arfa just not consistent enough. Ince would score more goals.

Geordie fan here: Newcastle would want at least £20m for Ben Arfa - and throw Andy Carrol in as well.

25 Feb 2013 10:01:03
whats this borini?
so. the lad doesn't even kicked the ball. give him a chance. he is future. still 21. all those. vanished?
and we get a loss of 3 mill in one year.
excellent fans.

Do you honestly think anyone would pay 8M for Borini?

25 Feb 2013 08:28:05
I remember last season 6 games to go Manutd 8pts clear,
Manchester bookie Betfred paying out on all bets on utd to win the league:0)
We all know what happened.
So no more posts saying the seasons over! You just never know, if they Manutd can lose an 8pt lead with just 6 games to go. Then please believe me, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea are all likely to falter in the final games of the season.
We just need to get a bit closer over the next 5 games to put the pressure on.
If we went into the last 6 games just 5/6 points off 4th I think it could be on.

25 Feb 2013 11:02:07
i agree kid until its imposible the players just need to take 1 game at a time and put a run togeather if we beat chelsea everton spurs we might have a chance that away game to newcastle might be a bit more difficult now they bought a new team in jan.

I hope your right but top 4 for me is a step to far this year. we might have been closer had we got sturridge at the start of the season instead of jan transfer window, however I do think that we are a young improving team and if we can hold on to our stars and sign one or two more quality players in the summer we will really punch our weight next season

I don't think the problem is tottenham arsenal and chelsea slipping up as they almost certainly will. It's just whether we can consistently win like city did at end of last season- which i'm almost sure we won't be able to do.

We only got to last 16 of europa league, how well do you think we'd do in CL, stop talking about CL places, where not good enough.

25 Feb 2013 15:30:17
We just need to win all our games we got left and hope for the best, teams above us will drop points, they got to play each other and us, so let's just get as many points as possible and keep everything crossed!

Personally,

1 more loss wil be ok, 2-3 draws and win the rest would be enough to stand a chance?

Piddy.

I like your optimism kid, but for me let's get the 3 points of Wigan first.

I like your optimism kid, but for me let's get the 3 points of Wigan first.

This is our run in no reason why we shouldn't win at least 8 of these.
Wigan V Liverpool
Liverpool V Tottenham
Southampton V Liverpool
Aston Villa V Liverpool
Liverpool V West Ham
Reading V Liverpool
Liverpool V Chelsea
Newcastle V Liverpool
Liverpool V Everton
Fulham V Liverpool
Liverpool V QPR

thats 24points out of 33 in the worst case scenario

ed. good mng. and great site.

I understand. this is a Liverpool page. and I love my club.
But is it necessary that we should not like any other club apart from Liverpool.

Football is bigger than Liverpool.

I saw someweird comments from so called true football fans. slating swansea victory.

people don't digest others success here. neither they digest our failuer.

whenever someone appreciate another club or another player.
this sentence pops ups.

". go and support other teams. why don't you support them. '"
Sick.

Swansea were fabulous in capital one cup.

they defeted bretford 5-0. yes a Championship team.
we beat a championship team in shootout last season.

Pathetic. sometimes. to be called as football fan.

Well said mate. Appreciating good football is a good virtue, whether its our own team or a rival. Give credit where it is due, and watching swansea last night was a joy. Fantastic performance.

This page is constantly slating Liverpool players, managers and FSG and you really think they are going to praise a different team? I would be more sick if people started praising Swansea then out selves. Not really sure why anyone would care about Swansea tbh except the fact they took a Europa spot.

And you can say we beat a championship side last year but we beat them badly before hand so technically we should beat Bradford 10-0 by them rules.

Londonred

25 Feb 2013 10:08:11
I am not getting what's your point.
Slating some other teams. no matter what they does. will not improve our league position.

Messi. ronaldo. alonso. mata. silva etc etc. they are all quality football players. no matter what colour shirt they wear.

we were poor this season. Cl was our main priority. and we failed to achieve it.

And BTW what's wrong in congragulating a team who has won a medal this season?

I would like to know from so called fans.
whats the main pre requiste to be a Liverpool fan?

learn the history?
love Daglish more than life?
support the team on and off the pitch whatever they does?
slate our rivals.
have some excuses whenever we are short of quality?

This is ridiculous.

We have beocme so called unique fans.
Not football fans anymore.

Great post.
This is partly the reason why LFC fans were so respected, we appreciated what other teams did, even applauding opposition players who gave us the runa round at Anfield, off the pitch.
It seems to have gone to a degree where you have to support LFC and cannot criticise (even constructively) and praising any other side is a complete no-no
And then fans have the gall to moan how players behave.

Look if Messi. Ronaldo. Alonso, Mata and Silva were all playing keepy uppy in my back garden? I'd draw the curtains.
Because there just not Liverpool players? So I'm not interested;0)

25 Feb 2013 14:44:09
to kidmllions.

dis-interest and criticizing are two entierly differnet words. with differnt meanings.

Its fine to change the channels in your TV. if you aren't Interested in watching it.
But you don't break the TV?

Bradford are league 2 not championship

De Vrij is our priority target for cb, only 20 but has already played 90+ games and is a full dutch international. Him and Ashley williams would be my preferences for cb to replace coates and skrtel. Promote Sama to take carra's place.

Any chance of a Liverpool rumours app?

{Ed033's Note - Yes, if someone creates 1 for us for free.

I have added the site to my homescreen on my iphone. Whilst not really an app as such its probably the next best thing.
Open Safari
Navigate to the website you want to add to your homescreen
Press the '+' icon, or could be an arrow depending on your iphone version
Select 'Add to homescreen'
When the shortcut has been added to your iPhone's homescreen, you can move it around as you can with app shortcuts. Just press and hold the website icon and drag it to where you want it to appear. Tap the home key to set it in position. Hope that helps!

I'm not really sure what to say about FSG
Are they really interested and all that?

But in terms of what they have done is that they cleared a lot of debt!
Provided money for Kenny for likes of Downing, Henderson etc. And Rodgers, Allen, Borini, Sturridge etc.

Yes it maybe require cost cutting! Which I agree on!
We shouldn't pay big money to any old player BUT FSG shouldn't be too strict in that I. e. Not buying a player just because of little difference in Transfer or wage value.

Yes I would like if they were abit richer! LOL
but yh if they could stump up some cash without having to sell!

A few things I would like to see change is their transfer policy! I agree buy young players BUT they should be more flexible and open to buying over 25 players.

I wouldn't really want a mega rich owner like at City or Chelsea BUT owners like FSG as they have business plans like keeping costs under control BUT owners that are abit more richer! If FSG were abit richer and have abit more focus on LFC it would be great! Haha

Anyway!
Also with fans talking about if FSG want to sell I want to knw if its possible if they could sell shares to fans?
Like Barca and Madrid are owned buy fans
Bayern Munich is like 80% fan owned
So if they sold like 40%-60% to fans it could help raise funds and fans have a 'say' in the board while FSG still own some shares for themselves. BUT could it cause conflict?

F5

If fsg sell they get the money not the club. How many times does ed02 have to say this

Thought borini would go untill his 2nd injury! And anything on the eminike move?

24 Feb 2013 23:59:38
Just a thought that popped into my head after looking through this page.

Does Swansea's rise recently look remarkably like Newcastles last three years?

Promoted and secured a good position (Swansea were 11th in the 11/12 season, Newcastle were 12th in 10/11 season). Second season was much better; Newcastle finished fifth last season and Swansea are on course to finish 9th-ish this season and both teams got Europa League football.

Now, Newcastle have 'flunked' a bit this season so far, but are looking much better. More matches, injuries, etc have hampered their season and they currently sit 14th. Could Swansea struggle a bit more next season fighting on four fronts with extra Europe qualifiers too?

Funny little coincidences

The major difference of course being that Swansea have actually won something!

There is one similarity as well. Both clubs mugged us into overpaying for an average player (Carroll and Allen).

Red PG

24 Feb 2013 23:58:16
C'mon realisticly 4th wasn't really our main target at the start of the season!
1. We finished 8th and for a team to jump from 8th to 4th in league like the PL is very unlikely!
2. We got a new manager! Self explanatory that
3. Experienced players left! Maxi, Kuyt, Bellamy left without getting properly replaced!
4. Started with a young & Thin squad!

However I did hope for us to finish in TOP 6 maybe 7!

So far 4th is still possible BUT that seems quite unrealistic! As there are 3 teams above us and we are still inconsistent!

6th is do-able! We are just 3 points off I think!
I think Everton have a harder run of matches left than us so we can take advantage of that! Also we have them at Anfield and need to beat them.

Our hardest matches are Spurs, Everton, Chelsea and also Newcastle (could struggle vs likes of sissoko)
We have to get atleast 8 points if not maximum points if we are to finish any we're near 4th/5th

The other matches are vs lower table teams we 'should' beat BUT we sometimes have a knack of losing and stumbling vs a lower team!

With counting everything that has gone on I think finishing 6th is a decent result. Obv everyone wants 4th!
But it shows progress if we move up 2 places from last season!

I don't want people to start saying 'oh we are Liverpool, is this what has come of these fans? Mediocrity? Lalala'
U need to understand in terms of footballing we are not as big as we were before!
See that we have dropped and need to take it slowly as we are making progress! Look from the start of the season to NOW we have made a lot of progress!
We need to build CONSISTENCY and a strong winning MENTALITY!

F5

25 Feb 2013 07:47:31
rubbish,.
CL was our target. since we are not anywhere near it. you have some other excuse.

4th was BR's target he said so often enough

Did anyone else read that really enthusiastically with all the! And to be fair we should be fighting for forth because we are a top 4 team in my opinion we just can't win games consistantly like you said.

Londonred

Please explain how we are not as big as we were before.

The Irish Rover

25 Feb 2013 10:12:22
we haven't won anything major in past 5 years or so far.
and more. we have been out of CL from past 3 years.
and that's the reason. we are not a big club at present.
to be a top club. you have to be at the top. beat the top. and play top leve football week in week out.
simple

25 Feb 2013 10:14:58
crap.
3 years back. we said. we need to build a team.
now. we need to build consistency.
tom. we need to build leadership.

note : owners are loosing money. every year in somewhere 50 mill net.
above all. they are also loosing money on some extra ordinary purchases.
also. they have to spend money on every window to satisfy the fans.

and result.
we climbed from 9th to 8th.

In footballing terms, we have spent more money than every club outside of Chelsea and Citeh. So there is no excuse for not being as big (in footballing terms). Bad management, bad signings and bad decisions by Fsg have us where we are today. Nothing esle.

The Irish Rover

25 Feb 2013 11:08:26
oh. so now the burden on FSG.
You fans moaned. every six months. that owners were not spending.
and when they did you moaned. we didn't buy. well.
whose responsible?
Owners who actually listened us. sanctioning money on all the purchases that our manager wanted?

I am so happy they didn't listen the fans and bought dempsy. or else 8 mill in atlantic ocean. so as sig 8 mill in pacific.

but they did. eventually on allen and borini.

we don't buy. or rather. our buys were flop.

if we actually had a a decent players on the 100 mill we spend. we would have been in top 2.

If you look at the players Real Purchased for the season they won the trophy.
its alomost equals to the money we spend.

The season is far from over. 33 points to play for. in Sturridge and Suarez we have the best strike partnership in the league. backed up by a fit Gerrard and Coutinho. We have never looked so dangerous in attack and it will only get better. Teams above us play each other and we have them at home. back the team and Brenda till the end of the season. The players will come good, they not only have the quality but are now showing the grit and determination to succeed. The desire is in their eyes.

Why would we neccessarily struggle against the likes of Sissoko? Really!
Don't you think the barcodes might struggle against the like of Suarez and Sturridge? Unbelievable!

25 Feb 2013 14:47:27
". likes of sissokho. "
quality player, 2 mill. since not a Liverpool player.
he is average.
excellent.

BR's target was 2nd from what he said.

Clicking Disagree to Kidmillions post must be a Geordie!

Dont worry mate, I have opened your Agree account and I can click it a thousand times only if it made a difference in achieving results but you made the point which I wanted to!

24 Feb 2013 23:36:38
Its looks like the main positions that need improvement are firstly CB and also CM
With a possible new GK!
With Carra retiring and Skrtel maybe getting sold I hope we try to get a High amount of cash for him as possible!
As teams that we try to buy from play hard ball so should we! Ask for like 20M, not sayin he is worth that much BUT since these russian Zenit are rich put a high price tag on him.
Same with Reina! Who I think is STILL a very good GK! But not as good as b4. And I think is the right time to sell.
Hope we get close to 15m each for them!
GK to buy-
Begovic-Quality keeper, high price tag? Likes of United interested maybe?
Vorm- Not young but a top keeper
Hope we never look at Al-Habsi, sometimes his great But many times has too many blunders!
Likes of
Leno- Young GK, Ter Stegen seems far off with high demand! BUT even so Leno doesn't seem like a easy buy though either.
Muslera- Uruguayan! Plays for Gala maybe unlikly to sell and maybe high price as they bought him for like 10M
Ochoa- Read we are interested! Read that he is actually very good! Tope ligue1 keeper and saves his teams ass everytime as they battle relgation! For FREE sounds good?

CB
-Would like
Howdes
De Vrij
Alderweild
BUT they seem quite hard to buy!
Ashley Williams is actually good!
A 'Physical' CB what we need
Can cope vs likes of Stoke and Big STs. Unlike Skrtel!
And main point is that he is a 'Leader!'
With Carra retiring we need a leader and he is a great captain for Swansea and Wales!
Yes he nearly 29 BUT we do need experience and also he then could after a few years let likes of Wisdom/Kelly slowly takeover!

CM
-Diame/Capoue!
-2 physical box to box players!
Diame we knw is great But Capoue is a brilliant player.
Would give power and balance to team.

Benat! Alonso-esque

Strootman
Lars Bender
Quality CMs! Box to box! Decent at playmaking and can tackle abit.

We would have to get rid of a few if we were to get another Attacker!

Turan? Erikksen?
Sound great BUT can we actually get them?

Dries Mertens?

For a ST/CF
Bony?
Jackson Martinez?
Burak Yilmaz?
Emenike?

I don't knw about attackers just yet BUT we defo need a CB and CM and possibly a GK

F5

Why stop there. Anyone else you'd like?

this is the best compliment or return you could ever send to FSG.
After spending over 120 mill.
You still need these many replaces?
or are you starting a new football club?
