just a tought if RM win the league in spain Xabi A will have every thing won cup medals league medal CL medal can come back home and drive us on to the PL spent 10m got 30m so will cancel any misgivings bout spending bobs on an older player
look at craig B what an addition he has made

Xabi will most likely come back to play for us someday but i cant see him leaving madrid just yet even if they do win la liga. He is the driving force behind the team and key player everything goes through him during an attack he is playing really goos football and despite the midfield being packed (trust me it is with the likes of ozil kaka granero lass sahin kehdira etc) hes played almost every min this season
S

Not to mention world cup and European Championship winners medals! What a haul! If Mourinho leaves I can see Xabi returning to Liverpool.

Hugh Pugh.

MUFC fan here in peace, well i aim to be most times. I personally think Rivalry has gone too far in the modern game and recent events have proven that.

But back to my original point. We as the two most successful clubs in English history have an intense rivalry. Which is why it pains me to wish you well for the cup final tomorrow. My reasoning for wishing well is the fact that although City are not the team playing you in the final, i would rather see a club with Tradition and History pick up a title than a Club built on a Sheik's Oil.

And as much as you guys say you want City to win the title, i believe deep down you would rather have a club with tradition and history win.

I think that our intense rivalry has somewhat blinded both sets of fans and both clubs from the fact that City (although playing good football) are ruining the traditions and intensity of the EPL.

But this is just my opinion...or is it?

Best wishes for tomorrow though.

MUFC-99

Thanks mate and I yes I agree with you. But can't say I want united to win the title though lol

Danny

Dear MUFC-99,

Firstly, thank.you for your wishes.

Secondly; that is a very thinly disguised dig at the actual team from Manchester.

Thirdly, no self respecting LFC fan, in my opinion, would ever want Man UTD to win anything; let alone the league.

Personally, if it isn't LFC that wins the league, I do.t care. This should also be the opinion of my fellow LFC fans.

Stedz 11

Mufc 99 I'm a true football fan and don't get involved with all that money and we got more fans than you sh#t I look at what happens on the pitch and at the moment city are fantastic to watch and deserve to be top every team who has won the prem has done it with money just be happy we have the best league in the world and the players city are bringing in enhance it so concentrate on the pitch only nothing else matters to a true football fan

does any1 know who is refereeing the final??

Hope it's not Howard Webb.

Hello Ed's and fellow Reds,

Please could I ask you to support the team that little bit more than usual on my behalf, as I have to fly to Germany tomorrow and will miss the game. Thee first final we get to since 2006, and I miss it!

Perhaps I shoud schedule another business trip for the date of the FA cup final!

Evening fellow reds. I posted on here last week about this being a defining week in KK's second coming and suggested that if we play well and to our level in both games then I could see us go on to win both and eventually clinch 4th place. I was pleased to see our performance last Sunday, very professional and efficient.

Hopefully we can take that performance in to tomorrow's game from the off, not let Cardiff settle and impose our game on them. I know it will be tough on the two players, but if fit, Agger has to replace Carra and for me I would replace Henderson with Bellamy. I thought Downing played well enough last week to merit a start. They would be my only changes from last week's starting eleven.

I have been impressed all this week with the interview's the manager and players have conducted. They have said repeatedly how they will not under-estimate Cardiff and how winning this is important to the club, the fans and then themselves. I also like the reference to the Arse in last year's final as a reminder of the pressure of favourites and also taking the foot of the gas.

I am looking forward to watching the game and as I said earlier a high tempo, professional performance from us and hopefully a winning result! I seriously do believe this could be the start this team needs to believe in itself if we do the job properly, which I think with KK, SC and the backroom team they should.

I am more than anything looking forward to see Luis play on the wide open spaces Wembley has to offer as I thought last week showed even more signs that he and Andy can form a lethal partnership. Roll on tomorrow red men and hopefully a good day in our illustrious history - TMac

Good luck for tomorrow LFC fans! No chance of getting 4th place though IMO

Gav

Seems like Im probably correct about 4th place after this weekend's results? well done on winning the cup though

Is it just me or any1 else had also noticed that Norwich are just 4 points behind us...hats off to them

Not Suprising the game is about scoring goals and they have better strikers than us

Totally agree mate !

Finally something goo frm Talksport. This should make all Liverpool fans be more optimistic.

As Liverpool shape up for their first Wembley visit since the Spice Boys in 1996, talkSPORT take a look at five reasons why Kenny Dalglish should have no excuses for failing to finish in a top four spot this season¦

ARSENAL ARE TERRIBLE THIS SEASON

Last year was the 14th in succession that Arsene Wenger has secured Champions League qualification for Arsenal, but the Frenchman's chances of maintaining that fantastic record look in severe doubt. The Gunners are on a dreadful run at present, having been drubbed 4-0 in Milan and dumped out of the FA Cup at Sunderland three days later, following some poor results in the league. Four points ahead of Liverpool in fourth, Arsenal have a Premier League visit to Anfield coming up, sandwiched in between tough looking games against Spurs and Newcastle, just when morale is at an all-time low. Liverpool must win that game and turn the screw.

CHELSEA ARE IN TURMOIL

Level on points with Arsenal in fifth, Chelsea were dealt a major blow when captain John Terry was ruled out for up to six weeks with a knee injury. The 3-1 Champions League defeat to Napoli, meanwhile - Chelsea's fifth game without a win - added to the woes of manager Andre Villas-Boas, who's admitted several senior players do not share his vision for Chelsea or the tactics he's deploying. Two points from a possible 12 in his last four league games in charge suggest this could be the first time Chelsea fail to qualify for Champions League football since Roman Abramovich arrived in 2003, and Liverpool - who've already beaten them twice this season - must take full advantage.

LIVERPOOL HAVE PLAYERS RETURNING TO FORM AND FITNESS

In contrast to Arsenal - who are missing Jack Wilshere, have struggled to get enough decent defenders fit and are overly reliant on Robin Van Persie for goals - and Chelsea - whose senior star players are revolting against boss Andre Villas-Boas - Liverpool are a united team of players on the up. Andy Carroll is hitting form at the right time, Luis Suarez is back from his lengthy ban, captain Steven Gerrard has returned from injury and defensively no team has conceded fewer shots on target than Liverpool this season. Even Stewart Downing chipped in with a nice assist against Brighton in the FA Cup. With just Lucas missing, the Reds have no excuses now.

CUP FORM WILL BOOST CONFIDENCE

If Liverpool can lift the League Cup this weekend at Wembley, it would be a first piece of silverware in six years and lift the whole club's confidence ahead of their Premier League run-in. Unlike Arsenal, the Reds are also still in the FA Cup hunt, having dumped rivals Man United out at Anfield. Aside from the psychological advantage of winning at Stamford Bridge and the Emirates in the league already this year, Liverpool also sent Chelsea crashing out of the League Cup, not to mention Man City. This should send confidence surging through the Reds, while Arsenal and Chelsea have theirs sapped by chastening cup struggles.

ARSENAL AND CHELSEA YET TO VISIT ANFIELD

Although Newcastle may have different ideas, it looks to us here at talkSPORT towers like a three horse race for fourth spot between Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. Crucially, the Reds have yet to play their London rivals at Anfield in the league, where Dalglish hasn't tasted defeat since losing to Spurs in May 2011, so Arsenal and Chelsea will face a tough task on Merseyside.

Too Simplistic

Might have a point if you were level on points with Chelsea, Arsenal & Newcastle but you're not. hoping for all 3 to drop points and for L'pool to win most games is a big ask

Gav

Ahoy - Excellent work by Wolves today to take 2 points off Newcastle, and well done Terry Connor, Mick McCarthy ran Harry Redknapp close for most disliked manager in the ONION household, but did not have the family connections of the England Manager Elect.

Its not often I would ask the media darling for a favour but it would be good if they could beat Arsenal and do us a huge amount of good.

Pity about Chelsea today I think if Bolton had beaten them it would have been the end of AVB and their push for fourth.

But they might self implode, Chelsea have a habit of making awful decisions as a club, AVB's team on Wednesday, letting Jose M go, and letting Graham Rix coach the Under 16's !!!!!

If anyone knows who broke the glass in my Greenhouse yesterday I would be much obliged if you could help, or phone Crimestoppers.

BOILED ONIONS {Ed002's Note - I might just be able to help - did you find a rock wrapped in a Davy Crockett hat inside the greenhouse?}

Lol. Now I see what you did ed !
The Real KB

Ahoy - come to think of it I found a rock wrapped in a cheque for £100k made out to Rosie 736r48294 - any idea who may have misplaced it.

BOILED ONIONS

Well its a good thing chelsea won then if it meant that he'd go if they lost . Better he stays. A new manager usually has at least an early positive impact , especially at a club with talented , if underperforming, players. If they win every now and then, which they will, thatll suit me fine . If we win more than every now and then , we will eventually overtake them. there are just enough games left.

Onions ... you are very funny.

Ed001 / Reds
I'm in a bit of a quandry.
The weather down here in London is really mild and Spring-like.
But the problem is, back when we played Newcastle at New Year, I bought one of them daft Davey Crockett trapper hats outside of Anfield.
Since then, every match I've been to, I've worn the trapper hat and we've won.
Now I've become superstitious about it.
What do I do tomorrow, wear the hat, sweat and look like a person !?
Or ditch it and risk lady luck turning against us ?
All advice gratefully received.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - I thought you had thrown the hat awat in frustration.}

No ed002, they don't call me Redturk !
The Real KB

WEAR THE HE#KING HAT! Lol

The Irish Rover

Wear the Hat, I certainly not going to change from, wearing the missus's lucky red knickers, just cos we're in the final, have to hope I don't get run down car and have to explain myself in hospital cos they're never never going to believe my superstition story.

Wear the hat

J-Red

Hope you didn't wash the luck out of them knickers.

Always win when u wear it to matches ? But if an armchair fan I take it lol

7 points back of 4th now. Drogba has Chelsea playing again. We will have to go on a decent run to get 4th, AND beat Arsenal and Chelsea at Anfield. No impossible, but very unlikely.

Its chelsea,s away form that will be there downfall theyv,e been pretty solid at home its there away form thats been letting them down were in a real fight if we are to get fourth but we have them at anfield and they still have a few of the top teams to play on paper we have the easiest run in but its never that simple hopefully we can go on a bit of a run and secure it time will tell i have faith in the players we have and beleive we can get it
giblet

Calm down mate - Toon dropped points today, The Arse will also tomorrow against spuds and I'd put money on us going on a roll if we win tomorrow and we will beat Chelsea and Arsenal. Just think about Gerrard (the Stevie one) lifting that cup tomorrow, then it will be Arsenal's turn after.

So Chelsea beat a lowly team at Stamford Bridge ... hardly a revival is it?? What were you expecting a win for Bolton? Unlikely a win for us at Anfield against 2 teams that we've already beat at theirs... you're on a wind up pillock!

dd

That's 7 points clear, but we have a game in hand you muppet.

J-Red

Fourth has been gone a long time now and the chase is only for the dreamers

Did he have them playing on Tuesday night!!
How many points away from home have Bolton got this season!!
Calm down

One thing that King Kenny as bought back to me as a fan is that every game we play is as important as each other and they are as difficult as each other.

There was sometimes in benitez and hodgsons reign was that games were not taken seriously as each other which was criminal.

We are LFC and we play to win every game under King Kenny and tomorrow is our chance to make a piece of history.

King kenny as done such an amazing job in such a short space of time and i could never dream this time last season we would be in a cup final in such as short space of time.

Thanks for giving me hope again King Kenny and realising that no one game is bigger than another.

Lets just hope history beckons against a good cardiff side.

i think if we get 5th this season it will be a good season because this year we have had a really big transition, the new players have been good but we need the rest of the season to gel. we need to get to know each others playing styles so basically 5th will do us.
all we need is a CAM, WINGER, 2 STRIKERS then we will be a complete team

You are Chavski...?

Ur happy with 5th place? Go back u manc.

was just looking at all are premier league results this season and we have been diabolicle. we shouldnt even be in the hunt for forth but chelsea and arseanl have also been awful. i wouldnt be surprised if newcastle got 4th. they are the real compitition for 4th place.

I believe you should wait till full time to make predictions instead of half time when teams are leading lol

How about watching the games instead or the results?

I was just reading an article about anthony gerrard on how he and stevie used to play football when they were young and on how they took completely different paths. whereas stevie gets to play for the best club in england his younger cousin struggles after being released by everton and going on to play for walsall and finally joining cardiff in 2008. His cousin has played all the glamour matches, won major trophies whereas he dosent have a single major medal. Come sunday and he will be playing in his biggest match of his carrer (not just him probably most of the cardiff team). Even though a liverpool supporter he wants to win it even if that means taking down his cousin if he's one on one at the last minute and cardiff is winning.
It reminds me of the movie warrior where both the brothers want to win the fighting match and both have different reasons for winning it. Come tomorrow when both the teams line up the cardiff players will have nothing to lose they are going to play their hearts out. they know this can be their day about which they will be able to tell to their grandchildren on how they beat the mighty liverpool.
it is stories like these which make all the rivalries so small and insignificant and make football so beautiful to watch.

amar

As hard as it would be, If Cardiff win it and deserve it , ill be happy for them.

Hey Eds and fellow reds,
I must say i'm really looking forward to tomorrow! the atmosphere, the media and most of all watching our proud club back in a final. It's been a tough time for us recently and let's hope this is a platform for better things to come.
But firstly let's remember we've not won it yet. Cardiff are going to be a tough team and in my opinion it might prove to be harder to beat Cardiff than it would some on the middle-bottom teams in the prem. I think we need to play quickly and effectively as they will be pressing us for every ball.
We can do this and i do think we will do it.
And let's hope we beat stoke in the F.A cup and go back to wembley soon!
And with some of the should i say easier games in the prem coming up soon, let's try to focus on that fourth place spot!
Come on Liverpool

Hello fellow reds,
Good luck to us tomorrow, I think if we have the same starting line up and attitude as we did against Brighton we will be celebrating at the end of the match, my prediction is 3-1 win but I wouldn't mind a 1-0 win or even winning by an own goal as long as we do win, many fans will have different views of who's to be in Liverpool starting line up but I'm sure Kenny will get it right.
Good luck to us and enjoy the game.

hi guys great website. tomorrow is a massive day for liverpool. im so nervous and i don't know who kenny will start. hopefully we win but, im afraid about what will happen if we don't win it (which hurts me to say it). also the owners have spent over 100 million on players and there is a lot of pressure on us and kenny. this trophy will give us a huge boost. hopefully we win the trophy. what do u guys think?. thanks and ynwa

Steven Gerrard was given a shirt signed by Barcelona (Xavi/Iniesta). It says"To the toughest opponent I've ever played against"

@nbstw

Where did ya find that?

25 Feb 2012 11:18:55
hi all does anyone else think its stupid that a player can play for the first team at any age but for that same player to go out on loan he has to be 18. whats the sense off that?
wildwelshman

In all honesty fella would you seriously want one of our under 18s going on loan to a lower league and picking up bad habits from another team? Why would you send them out on loan you need to teach these young lads now let someone else teach them cra p

I've got a feeling Kuyt will start tomorrow with Bellamy on the bench

Bellamy is a great impact player and it could happen. Let Kuyt slug at them for a while, get them tired and then send in Bellamy to hopefully score as he is just a ball of energy.

25 Feb 2012 10:55:47
You guys we cant think that we have already won the cup. Cardiff are a good team they are maybe better then lower end PL clubs they have some good players.I still think we will win but we can't be thinking about our injured players getting medals because it could be a great day or a very bad day its a cup final anything can happen.

Saw Bryan Robson and his wife at a winery in Adelaide today. I know its got nothing to do with LFC but I had to tell someone.

cozinoz

I can't believe Bryan Robson was there and there was still some wine left in any of the bottles.

Sean

Was he trying to broker a deal to sell a town/ city's football club on the cheap?

Ozone

I'm surprised he did not dislocate his shoulder lifting up the wine glass.

Why bother with bottles when there are vats present...

Ha, the fella lived round the corner from us when I grew up (now in my 40's) he was a big time tippler alongside McGrath - we were a rowdy bunch mostly Man U or Citeh, collared us one N Years,... always knew where to find the juice by all accounts lol.

I met El Hadj Diouf earlier in the week- he seemed to be a top bloke- i then watched highlights of our league Cup win over United in 2003? and he seemed to have had a blinder on the right wing that day.

League cup final now appears to be the greatest show on earth if you believe all the hype - apparently Liverpool just intend showing up in time to lift the cup - oh for an upset - mite find it wasn't that important after all then lol

Aww, seems someone it a little upset that they won't win anything. Don't worry I expect you'll jump ship when whiskey nose leaves and slump down to 15th.

Nice post obviously a bitter manc.

No we don't believe its the biggest cup in the world , it has become a mickey mouse with no one taking it serious.

But hey a trophy is better than nothing. I remember you lot winning it abit ago , I believe you hyped it up as you will the UEFA cup if you make it to the final.

LAVERS

It is important because it will be the start of a revival of the Reds fortunes- the first in a lot of silverware in the next few years

Its only not important when your not playing in it lol

here is a fascinating video from '96 (i guess) - still kind of sad Owen left and eventually ended with the mancs but Carra, what a trooper - even with his blue roots.

What i find most amazing is that Jamies voice really doesn't seem to have changed much - even though he seems to be about 15 in this video.

I do wonder if in 16 years time i will be sat on the sofa watching Jordan Ibe or Adam Morgan videos thinking "blimey - that champions league winner looks so young". Or something.

'Scuse the late night post - wife has gone out so i've spent a very pleasurable evening getting excited about sundays final - the 2001 Eufa cup is worth a look for those that remember!

Come on you reds,

Good call Joff on the 2001 EUFA Cup final, watch it often, also had the FA Cup Final from the same year, but son #2 decided to tape a Slipknot special over the first hour, gee i miss him sometimes.
Good luck to the team on Sunday, i'll set my alarm for 11.00 ish (west oz time), get up, cup of coffee and a coupla cones and hopefully watch Stevie G lift the cup.

eds, if we win the carling cup, will lucas get a medal? {Ed001's Note - I believe so yes.}

I've been told that we're going to pay for extra medals for every player who has played any amount of minutes in the competition.

Sean {Ed002's Note - There will be 23 medals available - 18 for the squad and 5 for the staff. The FA will provide more if asked to.}

Hey ed, any word on whether Agger will be fit to take his place in the final tomorrow? Would sure be a shame for him to miss out given how hard he has worked to overcome his injuries. Thanks in advance.

DownUnderRed. {Ed002's Note - He should be available.}

25 Feb 2012 06:54:30
Morning Eds, just wondering about tomorrows game, in your opinion, should Bellamy start? I think if it was against any other team he would be one of the first names on the teamsheet, but he has always stated his love for Cardiff, unlike other players, for example Robbie Keane, who aparantly has supported LA Galaxy since he was a boy? So could the occasion be too much for Bellamy? Either way the nerves and excitement are starting to kick in now, i know its against a lower league team, but underdogs have nothing to lose! A long trip from Newcastle to Wembley for me tomorrow, can't wait, watching King Kenny lift a trophy for us again would be magical! YNWA.
Kenny2 {Ed002's Note - Bellamy is a professional and I am sure would do his very best for Liverpool if called upon.}

Shelvey gone on loan. Now who will fill his place on bench one of some youngster or another matured player.

Kenny should give Shelvey more chances he's way better than Hendo

U can add Suarez and Carroll to the outs aswell

Phillips, Luuk de Jong and ramirez would be enough. They all are great prospects and can be great for us. YNWA

How about luuk de jong and siem de jong. Get both brothers they are both very good. I agree with gaston ramirez and matt phillips, we only need a little extra quality. Players that can make a differnce. And then slowly add Sterling, Morgan, Coady, Baio, Ibe, Silva, Suso, Teixeria, Wisdom, Sama. The future players must not be wasted, if they are good enough, they must be giving the chance to showcase there talents.

Your going to buy 3 players just so we have a better bench i agree the players you mentioned are all good shouts but cant see them wanting to come to be subs
