More and more reports saying VVD is going in Jan, us or city. I imagine if he goes city it will be great business, and he will look at home in a team that has to defendes for 20 minutes a month. If he goes to us, he will be what the majority are seeing. He not the answer - but no one player is for me. Unless there was some quick centre half, excellent at reading the game and sorting out defensive lines out there we are forgetting about, no single player is. Either way, I wouldn't want him to join, especially after the way it was handled, and the money being touted.

You wouldn’t want him to join because of the price? First of all it’s not even your money, so why on earth would you care? Secondly, he’s far better than anything we have, and while he isn’t the total answer, he’d go a long way towards solving out problems.

Jeme, I disagree. Money is money, end of story. Cos it is not my or your money does not change the fact that 70m on such a flawed CB is a huge risk. LFC is a business, run by business and in any business, every financial outlay is studied to see if the ROI is worth the outlay in the long term. That is a fact and whether it is my money or not, that fact will never change.

Cos you want us to sign VVD whatever the cost will not deter the club from weighing the pros and cons of the issue. VVD is not the answer to us at CB, IMO for his flaws and attitude issues are well documented tho he is talented and is a step in the right direct. I'm sorry, 70m for a step in the right direction is madness. At 70m, he needs to be fixing 80% of our defensive issues and his flaws are too much to overlook for that amount.

I disagree with dropping 70m on such a player regardless of his obvious talent. ACB like Khoulibaly (who plays in the same system we play under Klopp at Napoli) would be my option and would NOT be 70m.

I think the weighing up of whether 70 mill is a risk on a player is well above us as fans pay scale. I can't imagine FSG Contemplating the fans opinion when it comes to the signings. They've taken the risk on Kieta so it will be interesting to see if they also do with VVD. We have never actually put a bid in for VVD so I can't really see that changing now.

I agree he will go to City.
City can afford a £60m punt. He is horribly out of form at the minute but City don’t need to start him straight away and I’m certain Pep will improve him as a player.
Good business for City, too big a risk for us.

Spot on, Ron. City can indeed to drop 60m on a player and move on from him in a couple of years if he does not pan out like they did with Bravo and Ederson. We are in NO position to do that cos we are not being run by owners with bottomless pits of money so we can't be playing the type of game they are playing cos financially, they are on a different planet.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas! Ed001, if it's okay with you, i would love to write the next couple of match reviews so u could get a well deserved winter break! Also if you get the chance, could u give me your feedback on the Arsenal vs Liverpool review, so that i could make any improvements for next time!

I have only had a quick read through it, but the only thing I would say, for now, is to put more of your personality into it. Good grammar etc is great, but try and just tidy up your way of speaking using grammar, rather than trying to put things properly. It should feel natural to you when you read it back through, whereas that felt like you were trying to hold back from what you actually wanted to say.}

Thanx for d feedback mate! You are correct in saying that i was holding back a bit but it was not because i wanted to say something else rather i wanted to say more. I didn't want to make the review too long. But surely in the future articles, I would keep in mind of bringing my own personality into it.

Is JURGEN KLOPP a manager in denial, some of the quotes come out that he is a defensive coach, to counter act the reason critism is a joke, he is just making himself look a fool, and as for the backing of MINGO I can only say JURGEN that this fellow will get you the sack, he has let u and the fans down to many times, also JURGEN you will lose the fans if u keep telling the fans something that there not seeing.

Not that I have read the review written by SW15, but that is some great feedback, in general, from Ed1. The amount of time and dedication you guys put into this site is absolutely top notch. Cheers!

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate. I just look at it that if people just want to read the facts they would be reading AP, PA or Reuters reports, but no one does really. Instead we all read the news after someone has turned it into a story, rather than a statement of facts. The hard bit is making it an interesting story. For me the personality imbued is what makes something interesting to read, rather than those articles that are just done to a template and all basically the same. They are usually the clickbait sites that do that, each article is exactly the same, a nothing story with no interest added by the writer as s/he is just repeating verbatim the same style and exact layout in every story they write.}

Merry Christmas all. Question for Ed001, if you had a say which will you focus on Champions league, FA cup or top of qualifications qualifications or which if I were to rephrase which would show pogress?

{Ed001's Note - priority is to finish as high up the league as possible and try to win a trophy. That should be the same every season, they should all be priority. Progress is staying in the top 4 at the end of the season, because we have done it while also competing in the Champions League. That does add a lot of pressure on the squad these days. Then next season we have to be looking to either win a cup or finish higher up the table to make progress.}

To be honest, top four in consecutive years would be progression based on recent years, especially with the extra competition at the top compared to when we were in the last 'big 4'. I would love a trophy, mind you. The lack there of just seems like a stick with which to beat us.

Mane needs competition. Lovren and Matp as well. We have an abundance of midfield talents especially with Keita and a fit Lallana. So my wishlist for January is two CBs and first team winger. If Sturridge leaves then a ready made striker in the line of Klavan who is ready to play when called upon (Defoe anyone? ) but will not cause any drama if not played

You really think we need another winger? How about we give some of the younger ones a go before splashing the cash on unnecessary wingers. My wishlist would personally be a top CB and a RB, move Gomez to CB and have him partnered with somebody top quality. Have an experienced RB beside them who can give TAA a lesson or two, TAA needs more time on the pitch but also needs more experience.

I hope Sturridge does leave and I feel gutted saying that, I really thought he'd crack on and sort it out again but he hasn't and likely won't now, I'd prefer to give Ings his chance but looks like he will be off out on loan which I do agree with for this season. Next season I hope to see more of the lad.

Defoe, no chance. Sorry but he's nowhere near Liverpool quality.

Defoe? Really? Surely you gest. As for Jan transfers, I know people are hoping for some business BUT I am not one of those people. You barely ever get good quality (which is what we need and not just warm bodies or stop gaps, mind you) in Jan. It is near impossible for a team to sell you their best CB or best winger or best GK.

That to me, is just a fantasy. Proof? NONE of our rivals signed a soul last Jan even tho some needed to. Why do people think that is? Cos no one will sell them to you. Already, we will not be selling Cou this Jan, as Ed01 has said. Why should we do that? Having said that, it does not mean that Klopp won't try to sign someone BUT I'm just saying that people should not get their hopes up too much so the moaning does not begin if we don't sign anyone in Jan.
